What Doesn’t Kill You (2200 words, PG-13, hospitalization, grief/mourning, mild horror)
Written for the @sambuckylibrary Halloween bingo. Prompt: witching hour. Also on AO3.
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Sam’s heard it a hundred times, even believed it a few of them.
Right now, clutching the edges of his hospital chair tight enough to leave fingernail imprints in the scratchy plastic, watching Bucky waxen and still and breathing through a tube, he’s pretty sure it’s a bunch of bullshit. Because he’s fine, got a few scrapes and bruises and a knock on the head that didn’t even give him a concussion, nowhere near death’s door, and he feels weaker and more useless than he ever has. Worn out like an old dishtowel. You could hold him up to the light and see right through him.
He keeps thinking back to Steve. All the hours Sam spent sitting at his bedside after they found him half-drowned on the bank of the Potomac, waiting for him to wake up. He held it together pretty good back then, but this is different. The doctors keep saying shit like minimal brain activity and invasive life support and limits of enhanced healing, and Sam knows what that stuff means. Bucky isn’t going to wake up.
In a way, it’s more like the day Riley died, except the whole thing’s happening in slow motion and Sam gets a front row seat to every excruciating inch of that spiral towards the ground. Another person Sam loved, gone before he ever plucked up the courage to say how he felt, because he can fall backwards out of planes and leap off buildings and go toe-to-toe with alien megalomaniacs, but when it comes to letting someone else in on his heart, he’s a fucking coward.
So, yeah. Sam’s lost people before. Riley, his parents, Nat. Steve, who never even said a real goodbye. Karli, who could’ve been good if he’d gotten through to her a little earlier. But this might be the one that finally breaks him.
A hand finds his shoulder, startling him out of his reverie. It’s Rhodes, his face set in a carefully neutral expression that makes Sam want to say something shitty just to wipe it off.
He doesn’t. Rhodes has always been good to him, better than he has to be, and the guy knows what it’s like. He lost a best friend too.
Except, no, he doesn’t know, not really. Nobody does. Sam’s never told them.
“Sam,” Rhodes says, heavily, “you’ve been here for three days, and I hate to say it, but you’re starting to smell like it.”
Sam shakes his head, breathes into his hands.
“At least take a shower, sleep in an actual bed. The doctors–”
“The doctor told me to contact his family, make arrangements,” he hears himself say. His voice is very distant, very flat. “I’m his family.”
“Pepper has people,” Rhodes offers. “If you don’t wanna deal with that stuff, you don’t have to.”
A flash of anger burns in his chest–at the way everyone’s talking about this like a done deal, like it’s already over, and at the same time, at the thought that if he has to organise a, a fucking funeral for Bucky he might want to be hands-off about it, not make sure himself that everything gets done right. It’s a tangled, inchoate mess of feeling, none of which makes it out his mouth. His hands are shaking.
Rhodes squeezes his shoulder. “Go home, Sam. Be with your family.”
He leaves, and the only sound left in the room is Bucky’s mechanical breathing. The bruises on his face have faded away, healing where the damage inside of him couldn’t and leaving him looking unfairly normal. Like a still photograph of himself, except for all the damn equipment keeping him alive.
Sam got wake up you asshole and you’re not allowed to leave me here alone out of his system days ago, and now all he does is reach for Bucky’s hand and squeeze it. Bucky doesn’t squeeze back, doesn’t react at all, not even a flutter of an eyelid, and after a moment Sam lets his hand fall back to his side.
#
Louisiana means you grow up knowing magic’s real. Sam knew it long before he ever met Wanda or Strange, or saw an alien god opening portals to another world on the TV news. It isn’t some big mystery, and it’s probably the same anyplace you can head out on the water–or up a mountain or into the deeps of a forest–and not see a living soul for hours on end. It just is. You know there are things out there, strange and old and probably best left alone, so you avoid them unless you’re desperate.
Sam’s been desperate before, or thought he was. He got halfway out here after Riley died, before he remembered he preferred physics to folklore and turned the hell around.
Tonight, he isn’t so sure.
There’s a post sticking up from the bank at the edge of the water, probably the remnant of an old dock that’s long since crumbled into the water. Some people claim it’s the signpost of a drowned crossroad, though that doesn’t make a lick of sense geographically.
Either way, what the rumours say is it’s a place to get help when all human means have failed. Come out here in the hour after midnight–the witching hour, when the veil between worlds is thinnest. Take a photograph and a drop of your blood, bury them beside the post, and something will come out of the water and help you. For a price.
Now, Sam scrapes away damp earth with his bare hands, Carlos’s borrowed boat bobbing in the water behind him. Hurried out here so fast he forgot to bring tools. Lucky Carlos left his penknife in there.
The photograph is from Torres’s Polaroid phase. Ankara, he thinks, after a mission. Bucky’s usual scowl has slipped as he crouches to pet one of the ubiquitous street cats (It doesn’t matter if he’s got fleas, Sam, they can’t bite vibranium!) and Sam’s in the foreground, smiling way brighter than he’d realised at the time.
Sam bisects it carefully with the penknife, making sure no part of Bucky is visible on the section he presses into the ground, and slips the other half into his back pocket. Then he grits his teeth and draws the blade across his palm, watches the blood spatter his sunlit face.
After that, he waits.
It’s almost peaceful out here for a while, just the insect noises of the night and the plashing of the water and the sound of his own breathing. The minutes tick down toward the end of the witching hour, and he almost convinces himself this isn’t gonna work.
And then.
It’s like the air and the silence thicken, a veil drawn between him and the rest of the world. Each breath feels a little harder, the night heat heavy on his skin and a chill somewhere beneath it. A sound reaches his ears from the edge of the water. A quiet splash, and a drag of wet fabric, and a shape resolves itself out of the darkness.
She’s like the swamp made flesh. Water-weed green and dripping from head to toe, fingers slender and reaching as cypress roots, eyes feu-follet balls of light in the mossy mass of her face.
“Oh, sweetheart.” Her voice is a wet rattle like a dying breath, the sympathy in it startlingly out-of-place. “I could feel your pain miles away.”
Sam grits his teeth and draws himself to his feet. He forces himself to look her in the eyes, but there’s a wrongness about the light that burns there that makes it an effort, keeps making him want to lower his gaze. “Can you help him?” he demands. “Bring him back?”
“Help him?” says that voice. “Or help you?” Her hand comes to rest over his heart, skinny fingers splayed, and he tries not to flinch. “He isn’t the one suffering.”
His throat feels tight. “Does it matter?”
A sludgy croak of a sound. It takes Sam a moment to realise it’s her laugh. “Maybe not.” She regards him steadily. “But you’ve survived worse than this. You’d survive it again.”
It’s the kind of statement that ought to be encouraging, but the way she says it, it’s perfectly neutral, like she’s observing that there’s rain on the way, or it’s Tuesday.
The thing is, she’s right. Sam knows she is. He pulled himself back together, piece by painful piece, after Riley died. He learned to fly solo. He rebuilt his life after the Blip and talked himself around to trusting his own judgement after Steve waltzed off to the past. Now, he’s gotten used to having Bucky at his side, in his life, watching his six in the field and teasing him over dinner, but he could learn to live without it. Fly a little more carefully, trust Torres to have his back, spend more time with Sarah and the boys and the neighbours to fill the silence. He’d be almost whole again, eventually.
But godfuckingdammit, he is sick of being strong.
“Didn’t come out here for daily affirmations,” he says. “Can you help me or not?”
She inclines her head. “You can’t claim I talked you into this.”
“So you’ll do it?” He takes a deep breath. “What’s your price?”
She shrugs, trailing a hand down his arm and crouching to dig into the ground where he buried his photograph. It’s damp and dirt-stained when she unearths it, but she smiles anyway. “You’ll owe me. That’s all.”
“Owe you what?” But even as he asks, he knows the answer doesn’t matter. He’ll promise anything if it means a do-over, a chance to get it right this time, say all the things he should’ve said to Riley way back when, the things he should’ve said to Bucky months ago.
“I’ll know when I need it.” She tucks Sam’s photograph away somewhere in the folds of her garment. “Seal it with a kiss.”
Her mouth tastes like swamp water, brackish and bitter. Sam swallows down bile. And at the same time, he feels a creeping sensation like the water itself wrapping around him, twining roots around his heart, pulling him under like a gator’s death roll. He fights for breath, lungs filling up with it, tears springing to his eyes, darkness crowding his vision.
As abruptly as it crept up on him, it’s gone. He sucks in a huge breath, bending over, hands on his thighs, and when he comes back to himself, she’s gone.
#
By the time he gets back to town, he has three missed calls. One from the hospital, one from Rhodes, and one from–
His heart leaps in his chest. He’s on a plane to DC within the hour.
At the specialist treatment facility, nobody stops him to ask for ID or what he’s doing here. He finds Bucky sitting up in bed, drinking orange juice through a straw and looking bitchy about it. His face lights up like Christmas when Sam walks in, that wide unashamed smile, and Sam aches with realising how much he’s missed it.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t here,” he says.
Bucky shakes his head. “Rhodes told me the docs thought I was a goner,” he says. “Sent you home to plan my funeral. Don’t know that I could’ve stood being here, either.”
Sam exhales dizzily. “Yeah, well. Shoulda known better with your stubborn old ass. What’d you do, annoy the shit out of the Grim Reaper until he got sick of you?”
“Something like that. Guess I gotta thank that shitty knock-off serum for something, huh.” There’s an edge to his voice, like always when this stuff comes up, and Sam gets it, he does. Owing your life to something you hate is complicated.
He tries not to think about how much more complicated it would be if Bucky knew the truth.
“Hey,” he says instead, “don’t think you get to make a habit of this.” He tries to sound stern, but the tears pricking at his eyes make it hard. “Three days sitting on the crappy plastic chairs they got in here, I thought my ass was gonna fall off.”
Bucky smiles up at him, crooked, a little looser. “Now that’d be a real tragedy.”
Sam’s breath catches in his throat, heartbeat skittering. But shit, if he’s in the hole to some creepy-ass swamp goddess for who knows what kind of favour, or maybe his immortal soul, he’s damn well gonna make it count.
So he ignores the plastic chair and perches on the edge of the mattress, close enough to smell antiseptic and orange juice and feel Bucky’s warmth through his hospital gown.
(Roots wrapped around his heart, foul water on the back of his tongue, shapes moving in the depths.)
San leans in, telegraphing his intent, Bucky’s eyes fastened on his mouth. Presses their lips together, soft.
“About damn time.” Bucky sighs into the kiss, resting his forehead against Sam’s; and after a moment, Sam tastes only oranges.

Modern Stargate SG-1 Headcanons:
To go along with this post
Daniel:
Was always a nerd. Definitely had a “Greek mythology” phase growing up and never technically grew out of it, he just shifted a little more towards Egyptian mythology as he got older.
He felt closer to his parents when he was studying Egyptian mythology, and wound up turning it into a whole career by becoming an Egyptologist like they had been.
Guilty pleasure: Ancient Aliens.
Seriously, when he found out about the stargate and aliens and all of that his mind was absolutely blown. Even though he’d posited Ancient Aliens-esque theories himself, there was always a little part of him that went “there’s absolutely no way this is real and I might actually be a little crazy”. He did a little happy cry after going to Abydos and dealing with Ra and everything not just because all of that was over and they had won, but because he really was right and not crazy and all these theories he’d always wanted to believe but couldn’t quite bring himself to 100% believe really were true.
Aromantic/Asexual
But he still married Sha’re—he didn’t really have a choice.
Even after they got everything sorted out with Ra, and he chose to stay on the planet when Jack and the others left, he didn’t leave her. Initially, this was because he didn’t want her to be punished for not “pleasing” him or something like that (he had no idea how Kasuf and the other elders would react if he tried to send her away and didn’t want to risk her getting in trouble), but he did come to genuinely care for her. Once Kasuf and Skaara understood this about him, they were just as accepting of his identity as Sha’re was and became his family.
(Kasuf probably never truly understood what Daniel was trying to tell him about romantic/sexual attraction but he just smiled and nodded and accepted this weird kid anyways. All that mattered to him was that Sha’re was happy.)
When Sha’re was taken by Apophis, Daniel still joined SG-1 to get her back. He became almost immediate friends with Sam, who he always felt understood him on a level almost no-one else ever had, except for possibly Sha’re. Jack and Teal’c were friends on a different level, but they were no less close.
Has a lot of strong opinions on Google translate.
Tutors ESL students online (when he’s on Earth).
The only time his Duolingo streak was broken was when he ascended for a year.
Sam:
Sam Carter grew up a tomboy. While the other girls were all having tea parties and playing with dolls, she was building Lego spaceships with her brother and tying parachutes to plastic army men (and other toys) and throwing off the upstairs back porch of their house to see what would work.
In high school, she entered robotics tournaments and anything else she could get into.
She played softball and field hockey and was good at basketball even though she never joined the team. She took karate and tae kwon do and jui jutsu classes on the weekends. By the end of high school, she was teaching self defense classes at like the local Y or something.
She was also on the chess club in high school.
Got all As in math and science classes, but was more of a B student in any other subject—still above average, but she didn’t excell quite as much in the humanities.
Got into every college she applied to and got good scholarships to most of them, but decided to go to the Air Force Academy instead at the last minute without explanation to anyone.
No-one was more shocked by this move than Jacob, who had never expected her to follow in his footsteps. When pressed for answers by the school counselor, she said she felt it was her best chance to go to the moon someday.
In the academy, she excelled not only in her classes but in every physical test. She beat guys twice her size in hand-to-hand combat, had perfect aim on the gun range, and continued to get near perfect scores in her math and science classes in particular.
When Jacob expressed his pride in her accomplishments, it proved to be a mistake. She got into a slightly questionable relationship with one of the lowest-ranked guys in her year, who was always inches away from a dishonorable discharge. Her grades and performance slipped.
Some people suspected abuse when she would show up to classes with a black eye or split lip, but any suggestion of this to her would earn them the most wicked glare and a possible punch to the gut if no officers were around.
When Sam and her boyfriend got engaged, Jacob came to the school personally to try to talk her out of marrying him. He’d heard enough about the guy from his friends at the academy to feel the need to intervene, but this proved to be the worst possible choice. That weekend, Sam and her fiance ran off to elope. At the last second, she snapped to her senses and broke it off. Afterwards, she always denied that he had been the source of her bruises, but since those stopped after they broke up, not many people believed her.
She was one of the first people pulled for the stargate project and designed the majority of the dialing system herself. Once it was finished, she left the program to work on her doctorate.
When Apophis’s soldiers came through the gate and the stargate program was reopened, newly-doctorized Sam leapt at the chance to go to Abydos with Jack and his team. She never expected it to last beyond that one mission, but was certainly not complaining when they found the cartouche with more gate addresses!
She’s a very private person, and only discloses her feelings with those she trusts the most deeply. Daniel is usually the first to find out about stuff though—and not just romantic stuff; she also confides in him about things that she’s stressed or worried about, and he’s always the first or one of the first to hear her good news.
Besides Daniel, her closest friend is Janet Frasier. They went through basic training/the air force academy together, and reunited upon joining the stargate program. They started dating not long after joining the program, although they kept their relationship fairly quiet.
They went on a break after Janet adopted Cassie, and never quite found their way back to each other as partners, although they remained close friends. Never telling Janet how she really felt became Sam’s greatest regret after Janet died, and she devoted herself to Cassie to assuage her guilt over that.
Fierce feminist and a massive supporter of women in STEM and similar movements.
Disaster bisexual.
Jack
Jack and Sarah married fairly young and had Charlie not long after. He wasn’t exactly planned, but they loved him more than anything, and when he died it absolutely tore the two of them apart.
Jack went from a fairly happy-go-lucky, glass-half-full, ray of actual sunshine to a sarcastic, pessimistic, ball of anxiety literally overnight.
He was severely depressed after Charlie’s death, to the point where he actually had to be hospitalized.
When he was released, he moved back in with Sarah, even though they had been separated before his hospitalization. It wasn’t long after his release that he was pulled for the first mission to Abydos with Daniel.
After that mission, his nightmares changed. After Charlie’s death, they had all been about watching his son die, but after Abydos the nightmares now forced him to relive the deaths of his men, Daniel, and the boys who were killed fighting Ra. He and Sarah got divorced, and he went into early retirement.
To everyone’s shock, retirement turned out to be the best possible thing for Jack.
While he was still clearly depressed, he improved in leaps and bounds. He put a lot of energy into himself and his mental state, and, a year later when General Hammond called him back to Cheyenne Mountain, he was almost unrecognizable as a different person.
Going back to Abydos and seeing Daniel, Sha’re, and Skaara and his boys living and thriving was also really good for him. After Skaara and Sha’re were taken, he went into another spiral, but forced himself out of it by telling himself that he had to get them back. Was this healthy? Probably not. Did he care. Definitely not.
He didn’t really want to rejoin the air force and the stargate program, but did it more to watch over Daniel and to rescue Skaara than anything else.
He did come to truly love it, though, and even though the circumstances that brought him back were horrible he was still grateful to be part of SG-1.
Teal’c
Most of the Goa’uld system lords saw their female Jaffa as little more than breeding partners to the males, to create more Jaffa soldiers to serve their “gods”, and incubators for the juvenile symbiotes that all Jaffa carried, and Apophis was no exception.
Teal’c was fairly young when her father died, executed by Cronus for failing him in battle. She had already been in training with her father and Bra’tac—female Jaffa were expected to know how to fight, even if they were never called upon to serve their overlords in this way—determined to break out of the traditional path expected of her as a woman. Her father’s death lit a new fire within her, however, and she attacked her training with a new fierceness that unnerved even Bra’tac a little. She vowed to someday become the first prime of Apophis, Cronus’s greatest enemy, so she would one day have the pleasure of killing the god that ordered her father’s death.
The only woman in Apophis’s ranks, she literally clawed her way to the top of his Jaffa.
The other warriors feared her and whispered horrible stories of her victories in battle behind her back.
These were greatly exaggerated, of course, but Teal’c did nothing to discourage them. She wanted the most fearsome reputation she could get.
She gained a reputation for bloodthirstiness, fierceness in battle, and an almost animalistic nature when she fought. This caught Apophis’s attention, and she earned his favor.
Drey’auc was a childhood friend, and one of the only people Teal’c ever trusted enough to show her softer side to.
When Drey’auc’s husband was killed in battle, Teal’c took her and her newborn son Rya’c under her protection.
Deep down (largely thanks to Bra’tac and her father) Teal’c never truly believed that the Goa’uld were actually gods. She wanted to become Apophis’s first prime more for the power and respect that came with the position, and in hopes of having the chance to kill Cronus, than to actually serve him.
There were a lot of things that happened over her years in service to Apophis, both before and after becoming first prime, that really cemented her belief that the “gods” she had been raised to believe in were false, but she didn’t dare voice this to anyone but Bra’tac—she never even tonld Drey’auc, beyond a few vague hints.
When she met Jack, Sam, and Daniel and heard Jack promise to save the other prisoners, she saw it as her best choice to finally rise up against the oppression of the Goa’uld and jumped at the chance to help the humans.
On Earth, she realized that the humans there would trust her and respect her without the bloodthirstiness she’d been forced to show to the other Jaffa, and slowly began to relax slightly.
Seeing the respect shown to Sam, Janet, and other women on the base was basically revolutionary to her.
Slowly, she began to relax and open up to her new friends.
She sees herself as a protecter to her team in particular, and even to the SGC as a whole. Daniel, Sam, Jack, and Janet specifically are the people she feels the most protective over.
As time goes on, she slowly accepts SG-1 as a newfound family. As far as she’s concerned, the three of them are the siblings she never had, and she would do anything to protect them.
Drey’auc’s death rocked her to the core and led to a lot of questioning.
She almost left the SGC to take care of Rya’c, but it was actually Bra’tac who convinced her to stay, telling her that the Tau’ri were their best chance to defeat the Goa’uld once and for all and promising to take care of Rya’c in her name.

Protecting the Spiderling Pt 3
Avoiding the five essays and four stories I’m meant to be working on because it’s 1AM and I don’t want to :P Plus, I laid back to do some writing, but forgot my novel (that I’m literally writing a paper on) on the other side of the couch and ugh I don’t want to get up to get that XD In other news, I think I’ve said, but final papers are coming up, so I’m in the middle of a mad rush to try and finish up everything so I can use these last weeks to just work on final term papers and portfolios. Also, this idiot here decided she could totally read 30 books this month alone, so.... I’m at 20, maybe 21 if i get to read tonight, but I’m taking recs if you guys have any quick reads that you liked XD
Hope you enjoy because I enjoy writing this but I’m not sure that the story’s all that great. Still working out the characters. Here’s Part 1 and Part 2, if you haven’t read them yet :) If you guys have any fics of mine you’d like to see more of, I’m always excited to hear from y’all! Also, I’m drained of ideas right now lol, so feel free to throw thoughts at me. No promises, but you never know :) Marvel I’ll do anything so long as Peter and/or Tony are involved, and y’all know me and Voltron haha
EDIT: It has a title now, guys, I’m such an idiot
-----------------------------------------
As soon as Peter left for school the next day, Steve and Tony made their move, calling all the Avengers to a meeting. As soon as they gathered, Bucky quietly moved to the door, ensuring that no one could leave until Tony was done with them. He scoffed when Natasha was the only one who noticed him move. Some heroes. They were just bullies. And idiots.
               Although, as far as Bucky knew, they couldn’t really blame Bruce, but whatever. He needed to hear this, too. Better that everyone be on the same page.
               “Something has been brought to our attention, and we felt it would be better if we addressed it sooner rather than later,” Steve didn’t even bother with pleasantries. He could feel Tony fuming beside him, and felt it was more important that they get this taken care of before his boyfriend tried to go on a murder spree. While Steve had no doubt Tony could take on any of the Avengers, he also knew that Peter would be upset if half the Avengers were killed by his dad, and then Tony would be sad, and then Bucky would brood cause his favorite boys would be upset, and then Steve would have to listen to all of them mope and whine. Ugh.
               “What the hell is your problem with my kid?” Tony demanded. Steve closed his eyes briefly, praying for strength – because yes he was going to dive right in, but not like that – and when he let his eyes open again, he saw Bucky face palming on the other side of the room.
               Natasha spoke first, “I thought you said you weren’t related to the boy?”
               “That’s not the point, Romanov. The point is that child is in my care and custody, and the other adults,” Tony spat the word like it was an insult, “are treating this like the school playground and bullying the only actual child we have here! It’s a pretty sad day when a 16 year old kid is more mature than Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”
               As Bucky had suspected, Bruce was staring at everyone with surprise and amazement on his face; he had been completely unaware of what was happening to Peter. That still wasn’t an excuse, but that really just told Bucky that he wasn’t spending enough time with the kid, just as he himself hadn’t been. Sure, Bucky hadn’t really been around for most of the custody thing, but even he had seen more of the abuse in the couple of days he’d been back than Bruce apparently had in the last few months.
               “He’s too young for the field.”
               “Excuse me?” Steve froze. Tony’s voice was dangerously low. “Care to repeat that, Rustwing?”
               But Sam bit his lip, and Clint spoke up instead. “He’s just a kid, Tony. It’s not fair for you to let him on the field.”
               “You can’t honestly tell me that you’re just jealous that the kid gets to see action on more of a regular basis than you do.”
               “Antoshka,” Romanov spoke up again, “he’s too young. He’s going to get hurt, and that’s not fair. He shouldn’t be out in the field at all, because it’s going to get him killed, and that’s going to destroy you.”
               There was a long silence, and then Bucky’s disbelieving voice. “So you, what? Thought that you could drive him away… So he would stay off the field? That’s actually what you thought was going to happen?”
               Even Bruce was gaping at the spy. Maybe he wasn’t as oblivious as Bucky had originally thought. Clint persisted.
               “Well, yeah, because then he would realize that he wasn’t part of the team or anything, and then he would take that time to just go ahead and be a normal kid, because let’s face it, fighting crime – especially the way he does – is not in any way normal, even for an adult. So this would—”
               “You are such an idiot,” Bruce hissed. “That wouldn’t stop the kid!”
               Tony scoffed. “No kidding. If anything, that would only encourage him to be more stupid on the field, Birdbrain.”
               “I feel that we’re getting slightly off track,” Steven broke in. “The main point that we’re driving at is that Peter is a child. One that is under Tony’s – and therefore our – protection. Bullying him by shooting at him—”
               Tony shot Clint another dirty look, and Bucky counted it a blessing that he wasn’t calling a suit right then and there.
               “—or by ruining his homework, or threatening or even manipulating him to stay in his room is not acceptable.” With each word, Bruce was looking more and more green. “I mean, my God, does it make you feel fucking good about yourselves to make a kid cry? Is that what you were looking for, some kind of entertainment?”
               At the reminder of Peter with tears in his eyes, Peter apologizing for being in the way, Peter scurrying off with his overly full bag and what little homework he had saved, Bucky felt anger wash over him again.
               “You will be apologizing to Peter.” Tony’s voice was like ice, and it sent both Steve and Bucky on high alert. “Otherwise you can find other living arrangements. If you can’t respect my family, then you will not be allowed to stay here.”

Unforeseen Chasm (Part 68)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:5823
Warnings: Language,endgame plot, happiness, fighting, angst and fluff, reunited family, the truth comes out, character deaths, fighting while pregnant,  Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels). It’s a collaboration with the amazing @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo. It started as a funny “What if…?” and it evolved and got huge. This took two years to write. We are both proud and happy and we hope you enjoy it. It follows from Thor 1 to Endgame in the MCU. Some of the timelines may be off in order to fit certain people, and some characters may show up earlier or in different ways than they have in the movie. But for the most part, it follows the MCU. It also has a bit of crossover with some other Marvel characters throughout the story.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tony, Rocket, and Bruce all worked on getting the stones on a glove. Once it was set, and it seemed safe, the main question was who was going to do the snap. Of course, you couldn’t wield the power, or Shannon. Thor offered himself up, but between you and Tony, you convinced him not to.
Bruce said that he would have to be the one who did it due to the gamma radiation and the Hulk’s actual size. Bruce had gotten a chance to sit Shannon down and explain to her what he planned on doing. He knew that it would potentially cause some damage so he asked her if she would use her healing ability so that whatever damage was done wasn’t permanent. She was wary of it all but knew she had to put aside what she wanted for the greater good to bring back her son and her parents as well.
As soon as it was decided that Hulk would wield the glove, everyone geared up, just in case his Hulk form went berserk. Tony, Rhodey, and Scott got their suits on. Clint got his arrows. Steve suited up. You and Shannon slipped into your fighting gear that had been adjusted by nanotech to properly fit her baby bump. You formed a forcefield around yourself. Tony ordered FRIDAY to activate the barn door protocol, to keep the compound safe, and to keep the rest of the city safe. Everyone was ready to face whatever happened or fight whatever happened.
Bruce transformed into Hulk, the lucid form of the Hulk and he put on the glove. The power surged over him, making everyone nervous, but after checking with him, he was able to get out that he was fine. He held on for a few seconds, then finally -- he snapped.
Then he collapsed. Tony and Shannon worked on healing Bruce’s arm, while the rest of the team tried to see if it worked.
Nothing seemed different for a second, but then Clint’s phone started to ring. It was a sign.
Hope, relief, joy, ecstasy flooded through you as you watched Scott go over to the window and see life outside of it.
“Guys, I think it worked!”
But in a flash of milliseconds, Hulk grabbed Shannon. Scott was blasted backwards. Hell, everyone was blasted.
The compound had been hit by a missile, several missiles in fact.
You fell forward before falling down into a hole one of the missiles had caused. For a second, you were disoriented as hell. Water was falling on you, debris and rubble were all around you. A large piece of the building was on top of you.
You looked over, trying to assess what the hell had just happened, when you saw Hulk struggling to keep part of the building up and protecting Shannon.
Rocket’s voice snapped you out of your confusion.
“I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe!” he gasped rapidly.
Immediately, you scrambled to your feet. Using your power to get the building of yourself, you got up, assessing any damage to yourself quickly. Then your purple power extended from your hand as you lifted the debris off Rocket. Next, your power flew to Hulk, helping him lift off the giant piece of building he’d been holding up.
“Can anyone hear me?” you spoke into the coms. You kneeled down beside Shannon to make sure she was okay as you spoke, but the water was flowing in fast. You knew if you didn’t get everyone out, and quickly, they’d drown. “There’s water filling down here. I’m going to go up and see what the hell that was. Does anyone copy?”
“I hear you,” Scott responded. “I’m on my way. I’ll get everyone out. You go.”
With one last check on Shannon, you soared up, flying high up. It took a second to navigate through the water falling on you, the debris settling, and all the jagged rods and beams sticking out, but finally, you broke through the top.
As you hovered in the air, you saw the last thing you’d ever want to see: Thanos - alive, and for lack of a better term, well. He wasn’t fucking dead, and that was the main issue.
The stones, where the hell were the stones?
Well, he didn’t have them. That was the main thing, and you needed to keep this purple sack of shit away from them at all costs. He had just kicked Steve across the wasteland that was the compound. The vibranium shield was broken in half. Steve was struggling to get up. You looked around and saw Thor laying on his side, and Tony’s suit immobile.
Suddenly, Thanos began talking, and you slowly hovered toward him, but he didn’t see you, you were just out of his field of vision.
“In all my years of conquest– violence– slaughter– It was never personal. But I'll tell you now– what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet– I'm gonna enjoy it. Very, very much.”
Just then, an army beamed down from the ship above. Hundreds of Thanos’s soldiers landed on the field before you. You landed in front of Steve, trying to protect him from Thanos and his army.
“And I’m going to enjoy killing you again, very much,” you mocked as you stared him down.
“Ah, Y/N. I find it hard to believe that you could’ve killed me. You couldn’t even take over a city with your pathetic excuse of a boyfriend,” he retorted, giving you a look as if he’d already won.
All you did was smirk before you replied, “Killing you was the easiest thing I’ve ever done.”
Your eyes glowed purple before you and Steve suddenly heard something, in the coms.
“Hey, Cap, you read me?”
It was Sam. For the first time in five years, it felt like you could breathe again.
You and Steve gave each other a confused look, looking around to see where he could possibly be.
“Cap, it's Sam. Can you hear me?” he repeated. “On your left.”
A portal began to form behind Steve and you stood dumbfounded at the sight. Dumbfounded, but relieved and elated all the same.
Out of the portal walked T’Challa, Okoye, and Shuri. A sight for sore eyes.
Steve looked and sounded as if he were about to cry from sheer elation, and to be honest, you thought you would too. You and Steve would go against Thanos alone if you had to, but God it felt great to know you had a chance, a real fighting chance with all of your friends behind you.
In the next second, Sam came flying out, and then suddenly, dozens of portals were opening all over behind you and Steve. Strange appeared with three other beings you’d never met, and then suddenly Peter swung through.
With every new person, your heart felt fuller and fuller.
Armies began walking out. The Asgardian Army, the Wakandan Army, the army of sorcerers.
Your eyes were scanning, searching, looking everywhere for one particular individual. You didn’t see him though and your happiness started to deflate. Just as you turned to look though, another portal opened in front of you, and out stepped your one and only.
“Did you miss me?” Loki breathed as he stood before you, in the flesh.
In that one instant, that one moment, all else stopped. You forgot about everything and everyone. You forgot where you were, what you were doing, who else was standing nearby - absolutely everything disappeared and he was all you could see.
It was all you could do to keep from ugly crying from happiness. You wanted to throw your arms around him, never let him go. But you knew you needed to focus.
Scott, Bruce, Shannon, Rocket, and Rhodey showed up. Wanda and Pietro appeared. Tony and Thor joined the ranks. Soon, everyone was back that had been wiped off the face of the earth.
You gave Loki a smile and a look full of love before you and Steve looked at each other, a glint of determination in both your faces before the two of you turned, flanking each other.
“Avengers...” Steve shouted and everyone got in their battle stance as Steve called for Mjoirnir. “Assemble!”
In the blink of an eye, hell broke loose on earth.
The Avengers army charged forward at Thanos Army. After just seconds, the armies collided.
You were flying in the air, trying to get to Thanos. He was your soul focus. But he was too far away.
As you were flying, flying monsters from Thanos’s army came right at you. Smaller aircraft were deployed from Thanos ship. You did your best to use your electric dark energy to blast the aircraft out of the sky and crash through the monsters, decapitating them as you went.
Your eyes couldn’t help but scan the field for your loved ones. Loki was doing excellently, navigating the field as if it were a ballroom. He cut, slashed, punched, and dodged. Shannon stayed in the air, mainly healing anyone from above. Remy charged debris and cards, throwing objects as fast as he could, using his staff for close combat. Tony took to the air as did Wanda and Stephen, doing very well and staying out of most of the ground fight, which was good. Your eyes found Bucky and Steve, and you were nervous for them, worried, but you knew they could handle themselves. T’Challa and Sam were fighting fiercely. Thor was using lightning and his axe, full of rage and fury.
Everyone was fighting the fight of their life.
But you needed to focus on Thanos so he didn’t get the --
You internally gasped, glancing around. Where were the stones? Where was Clint? Did he have them?
Tony had been flying about fighting from section to section when he was surrounded by a few of Thanos’ goons blasting them with his hand thrusters. He became unaware of the enormous being that was coming towards him from behind, smacking him into a pile of debris in that instant he managed to turn and was using the blasters when the creature gets pulled back by the synthetic webbing that Peter had created and the monster was killed by giant Scott. Peter rushed up to Tony and began rapidly talking.
“Hey! Holy cow! You will not believe what's been going on. Do you remember when we were in space? And I got all dusty? I must've passed out, Because I woke up, and you were gone. But Doctor Strange was there, right? He was like, ‘It's been five years. Come on, they need us.’ And then he started doing the yellow sparkly thing that he does all the time–” Peter was caught off guard.
The entire time that he was talking, Tony was astounded about how unfazed the kid was being about the whole situation. The more he heard the kid talking the more emotional he got knowing that they had brought them back. Scrunching his face a little he got closer.
“Okay kid, hold me.” Tony pulled Peter close and held him tight.
“What are you doing?” he sounded a little confused but welcomed the much awaited hug. “Ohh, this is nice” and hugs the older man tighter.
“Mrs. Stark, it appears that your son and your husband are embracing each other,” TADASHI announced.
“Are they in a safe spot?” Shannon asked her AI.
“Yes they are safe,” came the Japanese accent.
Monsters of all sizes and kinds were flying at you, trying to keep you from getting to Thanos. Proxima jumped up on a rock, and launched herself at you from the side. You didn’t see her coming and she slammed you out of the sky. You went rolling along the debris.
You coughed as you got to your feet quickly, Proxima making her way toward you. You were shaking your head. You had to kill her...again?
Why did you all have to kill and fight people you’d already defeated once before? This was just insult to injury.
“Ready to fail again?” she asked with a smirk.
“Ready to die again?” was all you said before you charged your hands, shot out your purple electric energy and it kept her still. You were just about to kick up the voltage, hopefully stopping her heart, before suddenly her eyes went wide and she gasped, her chest moving forward.
You frowned, leaving your power on her, but then you saw blood trickle out of her mouth. You let your power stop, confused by why she was bleeding. But when she dropped to her knees, you realized why.
Loki stood behind her, wiping his knife on his pants.
“Thought you could use some help,” he smugly responded and all you could do was smile and shake your head. Oh how you’d missed him.
“I didn’t, but I appreciate you trying to help me,” you assured with a stunning smile.
Suddenly Clint’s voice was in your ear though, pulling you from the trance you’d been in.
“Cap, what do you want me to do with this damn thing?” he asked.
Your eyes searched the battlefield but from where you were, you couldn’t see him.
“Get those stones as far away as possible!” Steve replied with a harsh grunt.
“No! We need to get them back where they came from,” Bruce responded from somewhere on the battleground.
“No way to get them back. Thanos destroyed the quantum tunnel.” Tony’s voice came through everyone's earpiece.
“Hold on!” Scott huffed and shrunk to normal size and pulled out a remote. “That wasn't our only time machine.” Scott pressed the button, which activated Luis's van's horn, which was heard from afar.
Hearing so, Cap went to higher ground. “Anyone see an ugly, brown van up there?” Steve asked.
“Yes! But you're not gonna like where it's parked!” came Valkyrie from high above.
“Scott, how long do you need to get that thing working?” Tony managed to ask.
“Maybe ten minutes.” He hid behind a piece of debris.
“Get it started. We'll get the stones to you.”
Hope had landed next to Scott and took a breather.
“We're on it, Cap,” Hope responded for Scott. She turned to him and smiled and started flying.
Scott and Hope were on their way to the other time machine, trying to repair it while Clint ran across the field, trying to get it to them. You shot in the air, about to try and help him, or at least stop Thanos from getting to it.
Before you could locate him though, T’Challa asked Clint for the gauntlet. At his voice, you finally found the two of them. T’Challa took off like the speed of light. He was able to dodge shots and blows from several of Thanos’s soldiers. He landed with a large blast knocking several enemies back, but then Thanos sword came flying at T’Challa, dislodging the gauntlet from his grasp.
Terror overtook you and you were just about to fly down to protect the stones when Wanda beat you to it. She landed between Thanos and the gauntlet, a white hot rage burning in her expression. You couldn’t help but feel pride and sympathy.
“You took everything from me,” she stated darkly.
“I don’t even know who you are,” he responded defiantly.
“You will,” she vowed before slowly rising in the air, bringing along several pieces of debris with her.
For a split second, you wondered if she’d even need your help. Maybe Wanda would finish Thanos right here and now.
She launched objects at him that were the size of buildings. He just took the brunt of it and kept coming toward her before she fired shot after shot of her power at him.
Then you suddenly remembered the stones. Your gaze shot to the gauntlet where T’Challa was running towards.
Ebony Maw had picked up the earth where the gauntlet was and T’Challa was trying to grab it, but Maw used the earth to slow him down, trapping him.
“Hey, Maw!” you shouted, hoping to get his attention. You charged several stones nearby and slung them at Maw quickly. He deflected some of them, but at least his concentration was broken for a second, just enough time to let Peter Parker dive at the stones and grab the gauntlet.
Maw glared at you angrily, realizing what you’d just cost him. He threw earth, stones, debris at you, but you just put up your shield made of your birth power - Bio-Kinetic energy. Anger flared through you. You had failed once, been too distracted before, not again - never again.
With a surge of energy, you picked up debris and threw it at Maw and while he was distracted dodging it, your other hand came up, your power wrapping around his throat, the dark energy clenching tightly. He tried to launch objects at you to stop you, but your forcefield surrounded you and every object that hit you just disintegrated.
“Goodbye, Maw,” you said with dark happiness. You squeezed a little tighter and he went limp. You dropped him on the field, happy to be rid of another obstacle.
Peter Parker was jumping and slinging webs as fast as he humanly could to get away from the creatures from Thanos’ army. He had gotten far enough to activate instant kill mode. “Uhhh I could use a little help here, anyone?” Peter sounded distraught.
“I’m coming, Peter, hold on!” came Shannon’s voice through his gear. She flew as fast as she could. With the help of her AI Tadashi she managed to locate him and stop the creatures from coming too close to him. “Peter, on my mark, jump!” she yelled.
Soon enough, she was just above him and he jumped, latching his spider legs onto her suit.
“Thank you! Ms. Moran.” He sighed in a bit of relief while hugging the gauntlet.
“No worries, Peter and it’s Mrs. Stark.” Shannon giggled.  “Alright, I’m sending you up with Valkyrie, ready?”
“Ready!”
He got thrown into the air and was caught by Valkyrie and off they went on her flying horse.
Just as you finished killing Maw, you looked around to see where Thanos was, if Wanda had made any progress on killing him or stopping him. Yet, when you glanced to where they were before, Thanos was in the air as Wanda slowly ripped away his armor. He ordered a “rain fire” command, but Corvus argued with him against it saying it would harm the troops on their side as well as your side. Thanos demanded he do it anyway.
In one second, shots came raining down from the ship, hitting anywhere and everywhere. It knocked Wanda back as well as hit multiple people on the field. Your hope fell away as Wanda flew back, far away from Thanos. When Wanda was pushed back, it broke her hold on Thanos.
The sorcerers tried to act quickly to shield those that they could from the blasts. Then two seconds later, one of the shots hit the edge of the lake, and water came crashing in, threatening to flood the whole battlefield.
“Uhh, guys don’t mean to interrupt but the lake water is going to flood this area if we don’t do something soon!” Shannon announced while trying to keep her eyes on Peter.
Stephen took notice and flew over quickly before the water could hurt anyone. He began whirling the water into what appeared to be a water cyclone to keep it contained. You shook your head, wondering why he didn’t just lift the old debris up to keep it held back so he could fight too, but now wasn’t the time to argue with him.
Your sight reset on Thanos now. He wasn’t fighting anyone, and the gauntlet was still out there.
Peter had it and he was struggling. “I got this. I got this!” he yelled as he shot a web and glided along.
You were trying to decide whether to help Peter or stop Thanos. Your heart was racing. Seconds mattered, every second meant something. You didn’t have time to debate this for long. Finally, you made the executive decision to stop Thanos - several people could help Peter, but only a few of you could stop Thanos.
“Shannon, I’m going after Thanos. Peter needs help, I can’t get to him,” you told her, knowing she would be there to help him in an instant.
“Tadashi, scan the area for Peter. I need to know where he is,” she called for the AI.
“He’s still up in the air. They are getting close to the van, Mrs. Stark.”
“Alright turn on the thrusters.” From there she jetted to where they were. She was just about to get there but one of the ships snapped his webbing and he was rapidly falling. Thankfully the iron spider suit he was wearing had protected him from any of the harsh blows from the debris.
All she could hear were his screams and grunts as he fell. She got there just in time to shield him from the blast that had been far too close to her liking.
“Okay, I don’t got this. Help! Somebody help!” was all that anyone close could hear. “Ahh!” he yelled in panic.
“Peter! Are you okay?” she asked, letting her helmet retract so she could get a closer look. Her eyes began tearing up, seeing him standing there all bruise. “Oh, my son! You’re back. I’ve missed you so much.” She helped him stand and pulled him in for a hug.
“Hi there, Mrs. Stark, it’s good to see you—-” He got out once he steps back. “Wait, what do you mean by son?” he looked confused. “I mean I do see both you and Mr. Stark like family but—” he got cut off.
“There’s so much that I need to tell you, but this isn’t the time nor the place.” She smoothed his hair back, a few stray tears going down her cheek. “When all of this is over you, me, and Tony will have a talk okay?”
“Mrs. Stark, don’t cry. Things will turn out right, I know it will.” He tried to cheer her up. “Are you sure you should be here though?”  He started looking around hoping that no enemy was near. “Am I in trouble?” he instantly got nervous when he heard about having a chat with the three of them.
“Don’t worry, you’re not in trouble, Peter.” She ruffled his hair and he smiled sheepishly.
Soon enough more enemies started to approach and between the two they were able to diminish the numbers of them but more kept showing up. Shannon knew she had to keep Parker safe at all costs so she managed to connect all her powers together and send a surge of thunder and things to kill a large diameter of the enemies.
Just as you locked eyes on Thanos and set out for him though, the shooting from above stopped. Everyone halted on the battlefield, wondering what had happened. The shots didn’t stop though - they were redirected towards the sky, the clouds.
You frowned, confused. Your eyes met Steve’s, then Remy’s. Everyone had the same look you did -- utter confusion.
After a few people muttered their bewilderment and then soon it was easily realized why the ship had changed its aim.
Carol Danvers had just entered the battlefield.
She crashed through the ship, disabling it, and slammed through it again for good measure. The ship powered down and fell into the lake.
Everyone took a moment to shout with joy but it was far from over. Carol flew through the area looking for Peter and the Gauntlet.
“We’re over here, Carol,” came Shannon’s voice.
Carol landed, looking at him with a smile. “Hey I’m Peter Parker,” he introduced himself while hugging the gauntlet.
“Hey, Peter Parker. Got something for me?” She cocked her head.
He walked and lowered the stones, looking to the oncoming horde. “I don’t know how you’re going to get it through all of that,” he said in an exhausted tone.
Shannon and all the over women gather up. Wanda on his left.
“Don’t worry,” Wanda assured.
“She’s got help,” Okoye appeared on his right and you in front of them.
You stood shoulder to shoulder with the other women of the field as all of Thanos’s army charged towards all of you. Carol’s mission was to get the stones to the time machine. The rest of the women were to get the army off of Carol, clear her a path. Yours was to keep Thanos from getting to Carol.
Taking flight, you rocketed toward Thanos, who saw you, he was about to throw his sword your way, but something else sharp sliced your side, sending a searing pain up your right side. You began falling towards the Earth, glancing to see who hit you as you did so. Right before you landed, you saw Corvus smirking at you. When you hit, blood shot out of your side and you wheezed.
Get up, you ordered yourself. Monsters and soldiers were running at you but you held out both arms, charging items and throwing them and using your electrical power to knock them back. In a way, all you had done was clear a path so Covrus could run at you. He had picked up his spear, raising it high above his head before throwing it at you.
You rolled out of the way and onto your feet in one movement. A flash of anger went through Corvus as he jabbed at you again and again. All you were doing was dodging his shots before finally, you used one hand to grab the spear when he shot it towards you. He looked at you in surprise, but you used the hand on the spear to charge it until it blasted him off the end of it, sending him flying backwards. You charged the spear and launched it at him with all your force. It hit him square in the chest.
One second after he was dead, you remembered you needed to get to Thanos, to stop him from getting the stones, but when you looked up to find him, your blood ran cold.
Thanos had been slowed down by Hope, Shuri, and Shannon’s blasts, but then he resorted to another way to stop Carol. He threw his weapon straight into the time machine, causing an explosion that knocked nearly everyone on the battlefield.
You were too far away to help, but you saw that Carol had lost the gauntlet. Thanos made a move toward the glove, but Tony was nearby. He slammed into Thanos hard enough to knock him away from the gauntlet for a second, but Thanos, filled with wild rage, hit Tony -- your blood boiled at the sight.
Thor landed in front of the gauntlet, swinging furiously at Thanos. He swung his axe towards Thanos’s head and neck, but Thanos caught it. Thor summoned Mjorner, trying to brace the axe to push it towards Thanos’s neck. It looked like he was winning, but needed some help. Steve ran up and dove on the back of Thanos.
Thanos somehow shoved the weapons away from him, headbutted Thor, and threw Steve off of him, slamming his giant fist into Steve’s sternum, effectively knocking him out.
If your blood wasn’t already on fire from the attack on Tony, you were absolutely enraged now.
Immediately, you began flying towards them. You darted towards him, trying to fight monsters and soldiers as you went, shielding yourself from any other weapons that may be launched at you.
Thanos made towards the gauntlet, he had it in his hand, but Carol made it to him in time. She caved in his knee, punched him in the face, threw blasts of energy at him, dodged his blows, he grabbed her arm and threw her far away.
Come on, you screamed internally, pushing yourself harder.
Thanos put the glove on and your body felt hot, cold, numb. Every emotion raged through you like an ocean had hit you.
He raised his hand and went to snap. You were almost there. You could almost get him!
Not again, not again, not again!
Carol was suddenly back, her hands forcing Thanos’s hand open, preventing him from snapping. She pushed on the gauntlet hard, then pushed even harder, forcing him on one knee, bending his fingers so far back you were praying they were going to break. He tried to headbutt her, fight her, punch her, but her energy field was too strong.
Thanos suddenly grabbed the power stone and he held it in his other hand. He closed his fist around it, and punched Carol, sending her far away.
For the briefest of seconds, you felt failure, that it had happened again. He was going to win.
He put the powerstone back in the gauntlet, he was acclimating to the power of the glove, he said, “I am… inevitable.”
But then, you were there, right next to him. The hope, anger, fear, joy, all of it had returned.
Just before he could snap though, your dark energy wrapped around the gauntlet forcing it open.
“No,” you all but snarled.
Thanos stared at you with wide eyes, and he tried to punch you, much like he did with Carol, but your shield protected you.
Then your power bled onto him, starting from his hand, to his arm, then finally all over his body. Purple electricity snaked around his body. You lifted him off the ground.
Your voice was full of pure malice and power, as you said, “You see, Thanos? When you take away your weapons--” your power peeled off the gauntlet from his hand “--and your armor--” your power pulled his armor off piece by piece, ensuring to wrap your power around his neck as you did so “--and your power…”
He floated there, in nothing more than a shirt and pants, his eyes squeezing shut from the pain around his neck and body as your power slowly squeezed him tighter like a boa constrictor. You slammed him into the ground, on his knees, so he could look over and see Tony, who had the stones.
“You’re nothing more than a man,” you said. “You’ll never hurt my family or this world again,” you vowed as you stared at him, and he at you.
Keeping Thanos in place with your purple, electric energy, you walked over to Tony, taking his left hand and holding it. You let your red bio-kinetic energy flow into Tony. It would help him so he didn’t have to take the full force of the stones. You knew your body could bear it, thanks to the power of the mind stone, and you knew by charging his body cells to their full potential, he could withstand the power even more.
One arm, one power flowing out of each as Shannon came over to constantly heal Tony, so that the power didn’t kill him.
It felt like you were being ripped in half. The pain was almost unbearable. Thanos was strong, and it took every ounce of your energy, power, and concentration to hold him back as well as not letting the stones completely kill you or Tony.
Shannon had been forcing her healing powers onto Tony. When her body began to feel the distress from the babies, she took a deep breath and calmed herself, focusing on keeping her husband and her sister healed. So you two could do what needed to be done, so that things went how they needed them to go.
“You almost had it there, buddy, but guess what?” He stopped in front of him and crouched down. “Out of all the possibilities there was only one shot at winning this and you know why?”
He looked around and saw everyone that had been dusted and was back. He looked towards his wife and his son and the family he formed within the Avengers.
“Tony, I can’t push my powers any further.” She looked to him, seeing just exactly what the gauntlet was doing to him and you. “Gahh!” she screamed from the exhaustion.
“Shannon!” both you and Bruce yelled.
“Because this wasn’t inevitable and I.. am.. Ironman!” he shouted and snapped his fingers.
Thanos looked on in despair as his troops began to fade into the air. At the very end when he is the only one left, he said, “This wasn’t supposed to end like this.” With that, he had become a pile of dust blown away a moment later.
“Holy shit,” you breathed out weakly before falling to your hands and knees, trying to catch your breath. That ordeal just took everything out of you.
Looking back to where both Tony and you were at, Shannon could see the power of the gauntlet. Raw energy had left most of his right side injured. He stumbled for a bit before his body collapsed beside a pile of debris. Rhodey soon flew in and went up to Tony to see his long time colleague and friend laying there in pain. Soon after Peter flew in and ran to his mentor.
“Mr. Stark? Hey- Mr. Stark” he stopped for a moment. “Can you hear me? It's Peter. Hey. We won, Mr. Stark– We won, Mr. Stark. We won. You did it, sir. You did it.” He broke down and hugged him.
“Alright kid, alright I know,” he patted the kid on the back. “Come on, breathe, I’m not dead, okay?” he tried to joke.
Shannon walked over with the help of Bucky. He had been told that she was pregnant and had used up most of her energy to keep them all alive.
“Thank you, Bucky.” She kissed his cheek.
“No problem, doll.” He smiled and walked back to Steve’s side. “Hey, babe,” Tony hoarsely got out. “We did it.”
She sat next to him and leaned her head on his left side. “Yeah we did, now how about we all go back to the cabin to clean up and eat?” she suggested. “The babies  starting to get too active.” She grabbed his hand and put it on her belly.
“Oh boy, those  kids got energy!” He laughed. “I don’t know how you managed to fight here with us today while carrying these little miracles.” He kissed her cheek lovingly.
“Get a room!” you teased as you walked up to the pair and offered your hands to get them to stand.
“Hey, we have and it made you an aunt, didn’t it?” He smirked.  “Alright, FRIDAY, see if there’s any quinjets left to get us all home.”
“Right away boss.” It took a moment. “There seems to be 3 quinjets still fully functioning, sir.”
“Alright you heard the AI, let’s get our butts into those jets and head back to their home.” Steve ever the team leader.
So I have thoughts about the Supernatural Finale (Spoiler: I’m angry)
sooo i stopped watching supernatural at the start of s14 after having caught up in less than a year. the first seven-ish seasons hooked me and i thought they were amazing, and then it just...went so down hill. like the only thing that saved any of it for me was Jack’s intro, bc he was interesting and new and made for a fun dynamic and actually worked with the theme of fighting destiny and being your own person.
all that being said, i didn’t watch s15, mostly bc i kinda fell out of the fandom for a while with yknow *gestures at the entire year*. i thought, oh, i’ll catch up when everything’s out and just enjoy watching everyone sobbing about the ending before i end up sobbing about it.
seeing the reviews come in, i was confused. first cas’s death, then dean’s, then sam’s....like...
i looked up the scenes. i was really hoping if i put them in context they would make more sense.
nope.
(anger under the cut)
first of all, you’re gonna have the audacity to take cas out before the last episode. you’re gonna literally make him show real, honest, human emotion and joy for the first time, you’re going to make him confess being in love with dean, you’re going to put dean on the edge of realizing he’s in love with cas, and then you’re just gonna bad-CGI gloop him out of the scene??? and that’s it??? with some bullshit explanation that sounds stupid even when misha’s giving it 110%????? really??? you’re really gonna fuck over my favorite character like that. that’s disgusting.
second of all, you’re going to really make the most popular ship in the fandom canon for literally less than a minute???? you’re going to give misha this beautiful speech he’s giving his everything to and not give him a satisfying ending to it? it’s really just gonna end with a cliche “goodbye dean” poof???? you’re not even going to have dean try to say it back when (thank you jensen) he very obviously is starting to realize he feels the same way??? you’re not going to let him have that closure???? really??? what the fuck, guys? i don’t even ship destiel and i’m angry with how you treated it.
third, what the actual fuck was dean’s death. this man has survived satan, god himself, the literal apocalypse, being turned into a demon, being the vessel of an archangel, and a million other impossible things, and he’s killed by fucking tetanus? in a completely contrived, unconvincingly fast death? jensen’s really out here giving us a gorgeous, vulnerable death scene while standing against a pole with no obvious cause of death besides *checks notes* a nail in his back. really?
fourth, what the fuck was sam’s ending? what the actual fuck? this man spent ten years doing everything to get his brother back and keep the only family he had, he accepted that he couldn’t have a normal life necessarily, but he could have a good one, he could even have a family with eileen (apparently????), but he could do it while still fighting off the things that go bump in the night, and then suddenly dean dies and...what, everything just ignores him? one hunter dies and every supernatural being in America is like “welp, pack it in!” and leaves Sam Fucking Winchester alone? and Sam is fine with this? he marries some random woman WE’VE NEVER SEEN AND WE’RE NEVER INTRODUCED TO, has a kid and somehow knows how to parent him perfectly in the most cookie-cutter 50′s American Dream way possible, picket fence and all? he dies in a random room in a hospital bed (unattended by any kind of hospice nurse or any medical professional despite the professional medical setup), with no one but his one son (who looks nothing like him) to say goodbye?
the writers for this season annihilated any character growth that had been established in a decade. they resigned the Winchesters to exactly the fate they would have had if the show had never happened. Sam ignored everything his family had ever done for a shallow “happy” life, Dean died bloody and, for all intents and purposes, alone, and Cas just went to the Empty and ceased existing, having no effect on anyone back on Earth. i’m not clear on what happened to Jack but apparently it was out of left field and stupid as well, which i’m willing to believe.
the poor cast. imagine pouring your soul into a character for a decade just to be forced to act out a shitty, reductive script in the series finale that completely undoes all of the work you put in. how shit do they feel right now? they’re amazingly talented and it was wasted on that piss-poor script. they deserved better. they deserved so much better.
Part 68 of Unforseen Chasm
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together. Word Count: 5823 Warnings: Language, endgame plot, happiness, fighting, angst and fluff, reunited family, the truth comes out, character deaths, fighting while pregnant,  Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my other fic series). first major Collab with my best friend @thorne93 what was first a simple “what if” moment turned into a two year writing session and I’ve never been more prouder of myself than when i started my first series. goes through most of the MCU plots there are some changes to accommodate for what we wanted and there is a bit of a crossover between the MCU and other characters. I hope you guys enjoy reading this just as much as I enjoyed writing it.
___________
Tony, Rocket, and Bruce all worked on getting the stones on a glove. Once it was set, and it seemed safe, the main question was who was going to do the snap. Of course, you couldn’t wield the power, or Shannon. Thor offered himself up, but between you and Tony, you convinced him not to.
Bruce said that he would have to be the one who did it due to the gamma radiation and the Hulk’s actual size. Bruce had gotten a chance to sit Shannon down and explain to her what he planned on doing. He knew that it would potentially cause some damage so he asked her if she would use her healing ability so that whatever damage was done wasn’t permanent. She was wary of it all but knew she had to put aside what she wanted for the greater good to bring back her son and her parents as well.
As soon as it was decided that Hulk would wield the glove, everyone geared up, just in case his Hulk form went berserk. Tony, Rhodey, and Scott got their suits on. Clint got his arrows. Steve suited up. You and Shannon slipped into your fighting gear that had been adjusted by nanotech to properly fit her baby bump. You formed a forcefield around yourself. Tony ordered FRIDAY to activate the barn door protocol, to keep the compound safe, and to keep the rest of the city safe. Everyone was ready to face whatever happened or fight whatever happened.
Bruce transformed into Hulk, the lucid form of the Hulk and he put on the glove. The power surged over him, making everyone nervous, but after checking with him, he was able to get out that he was fine. He held on for a few seconds, then finally -- he snapped.
Then he collapsed. Tony and Shannon worked on healing Bruce’s arm, while the rest of the team tried to see if it worked.
Nothing seemed different for a second, but then Clint’s phone started to ring. It was a sign.
Hope, relief, joy, ecstasy flooded through you as you watched Scott go over to the window and see life outside of it.
“Guys, I think it worked!”
But in a flash of milliseconds, Hulk grabbed Shannon. Scott was blasted backwards. Hell, everyone was blasted.
The compound had been hit by a missile, several missiles in fact.
You fell forward before falling down into a hole one of the missiles had caused. For a second, you were disoriented as hell. Water was falling on you, debris and rubble were all around you. A large piece of the building was on top of you.
You looked over, trying to assess what the hell had just happened, when you saw Hulk struggling to keep part of the building up and protecting Shannon.
Rocket’s voice snapped you out of your confusion.
“I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe!” he gasped rapidly.
Immediately, you scrambled to your feet. Using your power to get the building of yourself, you got up, assessing any damage to yourself quickly. Then your purple power extended from your hand as you lifted the debris off Rocket. Next, your power flew to Hulk, helping him lift off the giant piece of building he’d been holding up.
“Can anyone hear me?” you spoke into the coms. You kneeled down beside Shannon to make sure she was okay as you spoke, but the water was flowing in fast. You knew if you didn’t get everyone out, and quickly, they’d drown. “There’s water filling down here. I’m going to go up and see what the hell that was. Does anyone copy?”
“I hear you,” Scott responded. “I’m on my way. I’ll get everyone out. You go.”
With one last check on Shannon, you soared up, flying high up. It took a second to navigate through the water falling on you, the debris settling, and all the jagged rods and beams sticking out, but finally, you broke through the top.
As you hovered in the air, you saw the last thing you’d ever want to see: Thanos - alive, and for lack of a better term, well. He wasn’t fucking dead, and that was the main issue.
The stones, where the hell were the stones?
Well, he didn’t have them. That was the main thing, and you needed to keep this purple sack of shit away from them at all costs. He had just kicked Steve across the wasteland that was the compound. The vibranium shield was broken in half. Steve was struggling to get up. You looked around and saw Thor laying on his side, and Tony’s suit immobile.
Suddenly, Thanos began talking, and you slowly hovered toward him, but he didn’t see you, you were just out of his field of vision.
“In all my years of conquest– violence– slaughter– It was never personal. But I'll tell you now– what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet– I'm gonna enjoy it. Very, very much.”
Just then, an army beamed down from the ship above. Hundreds of Thanos’s soldiers landed on the field before you. You landed in front of Steve, trying to protect him from Thanos and his army.
“And I’m going to enjoy killing you again, very much,” you mocked as you stared him down.
“Ah, Y/N. I find it hard to believe that you could’ve killed me. You couldn’t even take over a city with your pathetic excuse of a boyfriend,” he retorted, giving you a look as if he’d already won.
All you did was smirk before you replied, “Killing you was the easiest thing I’ve ever done.”
Your eyes glowed purple before you and Steve suddenly heard something, in the coms.
“Hey, Cap, you read me?”
It was Sam. For the first time in five years, it felt like you could breathe again.
You and Steve gave each other a confused look, looking around to see where he could possibly be.
“Cap, it's Sam. Can you hear me?” he repeated. “On your left.”
A portal began to form behind Steve and you stood dumbfounded at the sight. Dumbfounded, but relieved and elated all the same.
Out of the portal walked T’Challa, Okoye, and Shuri. A sight for sore eyes.
Steve looked and sounded as if he were about to cry from sheer elation, and to be honest, you thought you would too. You and Steve would go against Thanos alone if you had to, but God it felt great to know you had a chance, a real fighting chance with all of your friends behind you.
In the next second, Sam came flying out, and then suddenly, dozens of portals were opening all over behind you and Steve. Strange appeared with three other beings you’d never met, and then suddenly Peter swung through.
With every new person, your heart felt fuller and fuller.
Armies began walking out. The Asgardian Army, the Wakandan Army, the army of sorcerers.
Your eyes were scanning, searching, looking everywhere for one particular individual. You didn’t see him though and your happiness started to deflate. Just as you turned to look though, another portal opened in front of you, and out stepped your one and only.
“Did you miss me?” Loki breathed as he stood before you, in the flesh.
In that one instant, that one moment, all else stopped. You forgot about everything and everyone. You forgot where you were, what you were doing, who else was standing nearby - absolutely everything disappeared and he was all you could see.
It was all you could do to keep from ugly crying from happiness. You wanted to throw your arms around him, never let him go. But you knew you needed to focus.
Scott, Bruce, Shannon, Rocket, and Rhodey showed up. Wanda and Pietro appeared. Tony and Thor joined the ranks. Soon, everyone was back that had been wiped off the face of the earth.
You gave Loki a smile and a look full of love before you and Steve looked at each other, a glint of determination in both your faces before the two of you turned, flanking each other.
“Avengers...” Steve shouted and everyone got in their battle stance as Steve called for Mjoirnir. “Assemble!”
In the blink of an eye, hell broke loose on earth.
The Avengers army charged forward at Thanos Army. After just seconds, the armies collided.
You were flying in the air, trying to get to Thanos. He was your soul focus. But he was too far away.
As you were flying, flying monsters from Thanos’s army came right at you. Smaller aircraft were deployed from Thanos ship. You did your best to use your electric dark energy to blast the aircraft out of the sky and crash through the monsters, decapitating them as you went.
Your eyes couldn’t help but scan the field for your loved ones. Loki was doing excellently, navigating the field as if it were a ballroom. He cut, slashed, punched, and dodged. Shannon stayed in the air, mainly healing anyone from above. Remy charged debris and cards, throwing objects as fast as he could, using his staff for close combat. Tony took to the air as did Wanda and Stephen, doing very well and staying out of most of the ground fight, which was good. Your eyes found Bucky and Steve, and you were nervous for them, worried, but you knew they could handle themselves. T’Challa and Sam were fighting fiercely. Thor was using lightning and his axe, full of rage and fury.
Everyone was fighting the fight of their life.
But you needed to focus on Thanos so he didn’t get the --
You internally gasped, glancing around. Where were the stones? Where was Clint? Did he have them?
Tony had been flying about fighting from section to section when he was surrounded by a few of Thanos’ goons blasting them with his hand thrusters. He became unaware of the enormous being that was coming towards him from behind, smacking him into a pile of debris in that instant he managed to turn and was using the blasters when the creature gets pulled back by the synthetic webbing that Peter had created and the monster was killed by giant Scott. Peter rushed up to Tony and began rapidly talking.
“Hey! Holy cow! You will not believe what's been going on. Do you remember when we were in space? And I got all dusty? I must've passed out, Because I woke up, and you were gone. But Doctor Strange was there, right? He was like, ‘It's been five years. Come on, they need us.’ And then he started doing the yellow sparkly thing that he does all the time–” Peter was caught off guard.
The entire time that he was talking, Tony was astounded about how unfazed the kid was being about the whole situation. The more he heard the kid talking the more emotional he got knowing that they had brought them back. Scrunching his face a little he got closer.
“Okay kid, hold me.” Tony pulled Peter close and held him tight.
“What are you doing?” he sounded a little confused but welcomed the much awaited hug. “Ohh, this is nice” and hugs the older man tighter.
“Mrs. Stark, it appears that your son and your husband are embracing each other,” TADASHI announced.
“Are they in a safe spot?” Shannon asked her AI.
“Yes they are safe,” came the Japanese  accent.
Monsters of all sizes and kinds were flying at you, trying to keep you from getting to Thanos. Proxima jumped up on a rock, and launched herself at you from the side. You didn’t see her coming and she slammed you out of the sky. You went rolling along the debris.
You coughed as you got to your feet quickly, Proxima making her way toward you. You were shaking your head. You had to kill her...again?
Why did you all have to kill and fight people you’d already defeated once before? This was just insult to injury.
“Ready to fail again?” she asked with a smirk.
“Ready to die again?” was all you said before you charged your hands, shot out your purple electric energy and it kept her still. You were just about to kick up the voltage, hopefully stopping her heart, before suddenly her eyes went wide and she gasped, her chest moving forward.
You frowned, leaving your power on her, but then you saw blood trickle out of her mouth. You let your power stop, confused by why she was bleeding. But when she dropped to her knees, you realized why.
Loki stood behind her, wiping his knife on his pants.
“Thought you could use some help,” he smugly responded and all you could do was smile and shake your head. Oh how you’d missed him.
“I didn’t, but I appreciate you trying to help me,” you assured with a stunning smile.
Suddenly Clint’s voice was in your ear though, pulling you from the trance you’d been in.
“Cap, what do you want me to do with this damn thing?” he asked.
Your eyes searched the battlefield but from where you were, you couldn’t see him.
“Get those stones as far away as possible!” Steve replied with a harsh grunt.
“No! We need to get them back where they came from,” Bruce responded from somewhere on the battleground.
“No way to get them back. Thanos destroyed the quantum tunnel.” Tony’s voice came through everyone's earpiece.
“Hold on!” Scott huffed and shrunk to normal size and pulled out a remote. “That wasn't our only time machine.” Scott pressed the button, which activated Luis's van's horn, which was heard from afar.
Hearing so, Cap went to higher ground. “Anyone see an ugly, brown van up there?” Steve asked.
“Yes! But you're not gonna like where it's parked!” came Valkyrie from high above.
“Scott, how long do you need to get that thing working?” Tony managed to ask.
“Maybe ten minutes.” He hid behind a piece of debris.
“Get it started. We'll get the stones to you.”
Hope had landed next to Scott and took a breather.
“We're on it, Cap,” Hope responded for Scott. She turned to him and smiled and started flying.
Scott and Hope were on their way to the other time machine, trying to repair it while Clint ran across the field, trying to get it to them. You shot in the air, about to try and help him, or at least stop Thanos from getting to it.
Before you could locate him though, T’Challa asked Clint for the gauntlet. At his voice, you finally found the two of them. T’Challa took off like the speed of light. He was able to dodge shots and blows from several of Thanos’s soldiers. He landed with a large blast knocking several enemies back, but then Thanos sword came flying at T’Challa, dislodging the gauntlet from his grasp.
Terror overtook you and you were just about to fly down to protect the stones when Wanda beat you to it. She landed between Thanos and the gauntlet, a white hot rage burning in her expression. You couldn’t help but feel pride and sympathy.
“You took everything from me,” she stated darkly.
“I don’t even know who you are,” he responded defiantly.
“You will,” she vowed before slowly rising in the air, bringing along several pieces of debris with her.
For a split second, you wondered if she’d even need your help. Maybe Wanda would finish Thanos right here and now.
She launched objects at him that were the size of buildings. He just took the brunt of it and kept coming toward her before she fired shot after shot of her power at him.
Then you suddenly remembered the stones. Your gaze shot to the gauntlet where T’Challa was running towards.
Ebony Maw had picked up the earth where the gauntlet was and T’Challa was trying to grab it, but Maw used the earth to slow him down, trapping him.
“Hey, Maw!” you shouted, hoping to get his attention. You charged several stones nearby and slung them at Maw quickly. He deflected some of them, but at least his concentration was broken for a second, just enough time to let Peter Parker dive at the stones and grab the gauntlet.
Maw glared at you angrily, realizing what you’d just cost him. He threw earth, stones, debris at you, but you just put up your shield made of your birth power - Bio-Kinetic energy. Anger flared through you. You had failed once, been too distracted before, not again - never again.
With a surge of energy, you picked up debris and threw it at Maw and while he was distracted dodging it, your other hand came up, your power wrapping around his throat, the dark energy clenching tightly. He tried to launch objects at you to stop you, but your forcefield surrounded you and every object that hit you just disintegrated.
“Goodbye, Maw,” you said with dark happiness. You squeezed a little tighter and he went limp. You dropped him on the field, happy to be rid of another obstacle.
Peter Parker was jumping and slinging webs as fast as he humanly could to get away from the creatures from Thanos’ army. He had gotten far enough to activate instant kill mode. “Uhhh I could use a little help here, anyone?” Peter sounded distraught.
“I’m coming, Peter, hold on!” came Shannon’s voice through his gear. She flew as fast as she could. With the help of her AI Tadashi she managed to locate him and stop the creatures from coming too close to him. “Peter, on my mark, jump!” she yelled.
Soon enough, she was just above him and he jumped, latching his spider legs onto her suit.
“Thank you! Ms Moran.” He sighed in a bit of relief while hugging the gauntlet.
“No worries, Peter and it’s Mrs Stark.” Shannon giggled.  “Alright, I’m sending you up with Valkyrie, ready?”
“Ready!”
He got thrown into the air and was caught by Valkyrie and off they went on her flying horse.
Just as you finished killing Maw, you looked around to see where Thanos was, if Wanda had made any progress on killing him or stopping him. Yet, when you glanced to where they were before, Thanos was in the air as Wanda slowly ripped away his armor. He ordered a “rain fire” command, but Corvus argued with him against it saying it would harm the troops on their side as well as your side. Thanos demanded he do it anyway.
In one second, shots came raining down from the ship, hitting anywhere and everywhere. It knocked Wanda back as well as hit multiple people on the field. Your hope fell away as Wanda flew back, far away from Thanos. When Wanda was pushed back, it broke her hold on Thanos.
The sorcerers tried to act quickly to shield those that they could from the blasts. Then two seconds later, one of the shots hit the edge of the lake, and water came crashing in, threatening to flood the whole battlefield.
“Uhh, guys don’t mean to interrupt but the lake water is going to flood this area if we don’t do something soon!” Shannon announced while trying to keep her eyes on Peter.
Stephen took notice and flew over quickly before the water could hurt anyone. He began whirling the water into what appeared to be a water cyclone to keep it contained. You shook your head, wondering why he didn’t just lift the old debris up to keep it held back so he could fight too, but now wasn’t the time to argue with him.
Your sight reset on Thanos now. He wasn’t fighting anyone, and the gauntlet was still out there.
Peter had it and he was struggling. “I got this. I got this!” he yelled as he shot a web and glided along.
You were trying to decide whether to help Peter or stop Thanos. Your heart was racing. Seconds mattered, every second meant something. You didn’t have time to debate this for long. Finally, you made the executive decision to stop Thanos - several people could help Peter, but only a few of you could stop Thanos.
“Shannon, I’m going after Thanos. Peter needs help, I can’t get to him,” you told her, knowing she would be there to help him in an instant.
“Tadashi, scan the area for Peter. I need to know where he is,” she called for the AI.
“He’s still up in the air. They are getting close to the van, Mrs. Stark.”
“Alright turn on the thrusters.” From there she jetted to where they were. She was just about to get there but one of the ships snapped his webbing and he was rapidly falling. Thankfully the iron spider suit he was wearing had protected him from any of the harsh blows from the debris.
All she could hear were his screams and grunts as he fell. She got there just in time to shield him from the blast that had been far too close to her liking.
“Okay, I don’t got this. Help! Somebody help!” was all that anyone close could hear. “Ahh!” he yelled in panic.
“Peter! Are you okay?” she asked, letting her helmet retract so she could get a closer look. Her eyes began tearing up, seeing him standing there all bruise. “Oh, my son! You’re back. I’ve missed you so much.” She helped him stand and pulled him in for a hug.
“Hi there, Mrs. Stark, it’s good to see you—-” He got out once he steps back. “Wait, what do you mean by son?” he looked confused. “I mean I do see both you and Mr. Stark like family but—” he got cut off.
“There’s so much that I need to tell you, but this isn’t the time nor the place.” She smoothed his hair back, a few stray tears going down her cheek. “When all of this is over you, me, and Tony will have a talk okay?”
“Mrs. Stark, don’t cry. Things will turn out right, I know it will.” He tried to cheer her up. “Are you sure you should be here though?”  He started looking around hoping that no enemy was near. “Am I in trouble?” he instantly got nervous when he heard about having a chat with the three of them.
“Don’t worry, you’re not in trouble, Peter.” She ruffled his hair and he smiled sheepishly.
Soon enough more enemies started to approach and between the two they were able to diminish the numbers of them but more kept showing up. Shannon knew she had to keep Parker safe at all costs so she managed to connect all her powers together and send a surge of thunder and things to kill a large diameter of the enemies.
Just as you locked eyes on Thanos and set out for him though, the shooting from above stopped. Everyone halted on the battlefield, wondering what had happened. The shots didn’t stop though - they were redirected towards the sky, the clouds.
You frowned, confused. Your eyes met Steve’s, then Remy’s. Everyone had the same look you did -- utter confusion.
After a few people muttered their bewilderment and then soon it was easily realized why the ship had changed its aim.
Carol Danvers had just entered the battlefield.
She crashed through the ship, disabling it, and slammed through it again for good measure. The ship powered down and fell into the lake.
Everyone took a moment to shout with joy but it was far from over. Carol flew through the area looking for Peter and the Gauntlet.
“We’re over here, Carol,” came Shannon’s voice.
Carol landed, looking at him with a smile. “Hey I’m Peter Parker,” he introduced himself while hugging the gauntlet.
“Hey, Peter Parker. Got something for me?” She cocked her head.
He walked and lowered the stones, looking to the oncoming horde. “I don’t know how you’re going to get it through all of that,” he said in an exhausted tone.
Shannon and all the over women gather up. Wanda on his left.
“Don’t worry,” Wanda assured.
“She’s got help,” Okoye appeared on his right and you in front of them.
You stood shoulder to shoulder with the other women of the field as all of Thanos’s army charged towards all of you. Carol’s mission was to get the stones to the time machine. The rest of the women were to get the army off of Carol, clear her a path. Yours was to keep Thanos from getting to Carol.
Taking flight, you rocketed toward Thanos, who saw you, he was about to throw his sword your way, but something else sharp sliced your side, sending a searing pain up your right side. You began falling towards the Earth, glancing to see who hit you as you did so. Right before you landed, you saw Corvus smirking at you. When you hit, blood shot out of your side and you wheezed.
Get up, you ordered yourself. Monsters and soldiers were running at you but you held out both arms, charging items and throwing them and using your electrical power to knock them back. In a way, all you had done was clear a path so Covrus could run at you. He had picked up his spear, raising it high above his head before throwing it at you.
You rolled out of the way and onto your feet in one movement. A flash of anger went through Corvus as he jabbed at you again and again. All you were doing was dodging his shots before finally, you used one hand to grab the spear when he shot it towards you. He looked at you in surprise, but you used the hand on the spear to charge it until it blasted him off the end of it, sending him flying backwards. You charged the spear and launched it at him with all your force. It hit him square in the chest.
One second after he was dead, you remembered you needed to get to Thanos, to stop him from getting the stones, but when you looked up to find him, your blood ran cold.
Thanos had been slowed down by Hope, Shuri, and Shannon’s blasts, but then he resorted to another way to stop Carol. He threw his weapon straight into the time machine, causing an explosion that knocked nearly everyone on the battlefield.
You were too far away to help, but you saw that Carol had lost the gauntlet. Thanos made a move toward the glove, but Tony was nearby. He slammed into Thanos hard enough to knock him away from the gauntlet for a second, but Thanos, filled with wild rage, hit Tony -- your blood boiled at the sight.
Thor landed in front of the gauntlet, swinging furiously at Thanos. He swung his axe towards Thanos’s head and neck, but Thanos caught it. Thor summoned Mjorner, trying to brace the axe to push it towards Thanos’s neck. It looked like he was winning, but needed some help. Steve ran up and dove on the back of Thanos.
Thanos somehow shoved the weapons away from him, headbutted Thor, and threw Steve off of him, slamming his giant fist into Steve’s sternum, effectively knocking him out.
If your blood wasn’t already on fire from the attack on Tony, you were absolutely enraged now.
Immediately, you began flying towards them. You darted towards him, trying to fight monsters and soldiers as you went, shielding yourself from any other weapons that may be launched at you.
Thanos made towards the gauntlet, he had it in his hand, but Carol made it to him in time. She caved in his knee, punched him in the face, threw blasts of energy at him, dodged his blows, he grabbed her arm and threw her far away.
Come on, you screamed internally, pushing yourself harder.
Thanos put the glove on and your body felt hot, cold, numb. Every emotion raged through you like an ocean had hit you.
He raised his hand and went to snap. You were almost there. You could almost get him!
Not again, not again, not again!
Carol was suddenly back, her hands forcing Thanos’s hand open, preventing him from snapping. She pushed on the gauntlet hard, then pushed even harder, forcing him on one knee, bending his fingers so far back you were praying they were going to break. He tried to headbutt her, fight her, punch her, but her energy field was too strong.
Thanos suddenly grabbed the power stone and he held it in his other hand. He closed his fist around it, and punched Carol, sending her far away.
For the briefest of seconds, you felt failure, that it had happened again. He was going to win.
He put the powerstone back in the gauntlet, he was acclimating to the power of the glove, he said, “I am… inevitable.”
But then, you were there, right next to him. The hope, anger, fear, joy, all of it had returned.
Just before he could snap though, your dark energy wrapped around the gauntlet forcing it open.
“No,” you all but snarled.
Thanos stared at you with wide eyes, and he tried to punch you, much like he did with Carol, but your shield protected you.
Then your power bled onto him, starting from his hand, to his arm, then finally all over his body. Purple electricity snaked around his body. You lifted him off the ground.
Your voice was full of pure malice and power, as you said, “You see, Thanos? When you take away your weapons--” your power peeled off the gauntlet from his hand “--and your armor--” your power pulled his armor off piece by piece, ensuring to wrap your power around his neck as you did so “--and your power…”
He floated there, in nothing more than a shirt and pants, his eyes squeezing shut from the pain around his neck and body as your power slowly squeezed him tighter like a boa constrictor. You slammed him into the ground, on his knees, so he could look over and see Tony, who had the stones.
“You’re nothing more than a man,” you said. “You’ll never hurt my family or this world again,” you vowed as you stared at him, and he at you.
Keeping Thanos in place with your purple, electric energy, you walked over to Tony, taking his left hand and holding it. You let your red bio-kinetic energy flow into Tony. It would help him so he didn’t have to take the full force of the stones. You knew your body could bear it, thanks to the power of the mind stone, and you knew by charging his body cells to their full potential, he could withstand the power even more.
One arm, one power flowing out of each as Shannon came over to constantly heal Tony, so that the power didn’t kill him.
It felt like you were being ripped in half. The pain was almost unbearable. Thanos was strong, and it took every ounce of your energy, power, and concentration to hold him back as well as not letting the stones completely kill you or Tony.
Shannon had been forcing her healing powers onto Tony. When her body began to feel the distress from the babies, she took a deep breath and calmed herself, focusing on keeping her husband and her sister healed. So you two could do what needed to be done, so that things went how they needed them to go.
“You almost had it there, buddy, but guess what?” He stopped in front of him and crouched down. “Out of all the possibilities there was only one shot at winning this and you know why?”
He looked around and saw everyone that had been dusted and was back. He looked towards his wife and his son and the family he formed within the Avengers.
“Tony, I can’t push my powers any further.” She looked to him, seeing just exactly what the gauntlet was doing to him and you. “Gahh!” she screamed from the exhaustion.
“Shannon!” both you and Bruce yelled.
“Because this wasn’t inevitable and I.. am.. Ironman!” he shouted and snapped his fingers.
Thanos looked on in despair as his troops began to fade into the air. At the very end when he is the only one left, he said, “This wasn’t supposed to end like this.” With that, he had become a pile of dust blown away a moment later.
“Holy shit,” you breathed out weakly before falling to your hands and knees, trying to catch your breath. That ordeal just took everything out of you.
Looking back to where both Tony and you were at, Shannon could see the power of the gauntlet. Raw energy had left most of his right side injured. He stumbled for a bit before his body collapsed beside a pile of debris. Rhodey soon flew in and went up to Tony to see his long time colleague and friend laying there in pain. Soon after Peter flew in and ran to his mentor.
“Mr. Stark? Hey- Mr. Stark” he stopped for a moment. “Can you hear me? It's Peter. Hey. We won, Mr. Stark– We won, Mr. Stark. We won. You did it, sir. You did it.” He broke down and hugged him.
“Alright kid, alright I know,” he patted the kid on the back. “Come on, breathe, I’m not dead, okay?” he tried to joke.
Shannon walked over with the help of Bucky. He had been told that she was pregnant and had used up most of her energy to keep them all alive.
“Thank you, Bucky.” She kissed his cheek.
“No problem, doll.” He smiled and walked back to Steve’s side. “Hey, babe,” Tony hoarsely got out. “We did it.”
She sat next to him and leaned her head on his left side. “Yeah we did, now how about we all go back to the cabin to clean up and eat?” she suggested. “The babies starting to get too active.” She grabbed his hand and put it on her belly.
“Oh boy, those kids got energy!” He laughed. “I don’t know how you managed to fight here with us today while carrying these little miracles.” He kissed her cheek lovingly.
“Get a room!” you teased as you walked up to the pair and offered your hands to get them to stand.
“Hey, we have and it made you an aunt, didn’t it?” He smirked.  “Alright, FRIDAY, see if there’s any quinjets left to get us all home.”
“Right away boss.” It took a moment. “There seems to be 3 quinjets still fully functioning, sir.”
“Alright you heard the AI, let’s get our butts into those jets and head back to their home.” Steve ever the team leader.
Tumblr media
There was nothing but darkness all around him.
Second later, he heard some voices.
A sudden thought ran through his head; he knew some of the voices.
He slowly opened his eyes. At first, he blinked few times, giving his sense a time to get used to the lightness.
He saw a blurry figure that was leaning towards him.
"Are ya okay, kid?" asked a strong, deep voice.
He blinked again and slowly raised a hand to cover his eyes a bit.
Within seconds, his vision became less blurry and it got a proper acuity.
He blinked few more times and he cocked his brows before asking out loudly: "Jesus?"
Bearded face above him got brighter with a smile that appeared on other man's lips.
"Uhm. No. I'm not Jesus."
Peter shook his head and sat up slowly, being supported by a bionic arm.
"Oh! Mr. Barnes!" boy rubbed his eyes with thumbs, breathing deeply. "Mr. Barnes... What has just happened?"
Bucky, who was kneeling next to Peter, smiled sadly.
"I have no idea, kiddo. I think, however, that something pretty bad happened."
Peter nodded, confirming that he understood what Bucky has said a second before.
Young man looked around once again, when his eyes were fully adjusted to light.
He was sitting at the sandy ground, some flora were around them, mostly a dried bushes.
A bit ahead Peter noticed Black Panther. King was kneeling down on the ground, hiding his face in his palms while mumbling "SHURI... OKOYE..." on and on.
A bit on the right, there was Falcon with Wanda. Man was helping Scarlet Witch to get up on her feet again. She was trembling all over her body, Peter could easily noticed an anxiety in her eyes when she looked at him briefly.
On the left, Peter Quill was walking in the circle while Drax was trying his best to calm his mate down.
"Quill, stop it, for fuck's sake, I can't focus when you keep on walking like a weirdo," Drax sighed as he stretched his back.
Peter's eyes wandered to Bucky again.
"I think that the Wizard has spoiled something..." Boy mumbled quietly, trying to get up.
Bucky blinked but offered his metal arm to Peter. When boy was standing unhesitatingly on his feet again, Bucky rested hands on the hips.
"What? Wizard? Did you hit your head that badly?" he tilted head aside, blinking in disbelief. "What are you talking about, kid?"
Peter shrugged casually.
"Suddenly me and Mr. Stark were on the other planet, I suppose. And there was the Wizard and he was having that amazing cloak that was doing all the things Wizard has wanted. and then they appeared, I don't know any of them, I mean, I didn't know them back then," Parker pointed at Drax and Quill and Mantis, which just joined her friends. "They called themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy but God's my witness that I don't believe them, they simply were trying to stop that big, purple dude that was pretty angry and came out of nowhere. But they found out that he killed his daughter that was his girlfriend," Peter again pointed a finger towards Quill. "And he got offended and because of this we didn't manage to take that shining glove out of the purple dude's hand, Mr. Barnes," Peter took a deep breathe, he was trying to present everything as faithfully as it was possible.
Bucky's eyes were getting opened wider with every sentence said by Peter.
Finally, after few long moments of silence, inquired: "What the hell? What?"
Peter rolled his eyes. "Please, Mr. Barnes, don't make me say it all again, I'll get lost."
"Hey! Barnes! What the fuck have you messed up this time?!" Falcon yelled looking at Barnes, shaking a dust off of his back.
"Hey! Get off me, Wilson!" Bucky snarled loudly, he was clearly angry at the moment. "Maybe you've just blew a wrong piece of an energy field around Wakanda, huh!?"
T'Challa looked first at Sam, then at Bucky, he slowly approached Barnes.
"Easy, my brother," he said as he put his gloved palm with claws on Bucky's bionic arm. "We have to gather everyone and figure some plan out, White Wolf."
Bucky gave a slight nod. Peter opened his eyes wider.
"White Wolf? It sounds pretty cool, Mr. Barnes!"
When Bucky along with Sam managed to gather everyone at one point, T'Challa got on the large piece of stone that was laying between some bushes.
"I'm T'Challa, the son of King T'Chaka. I'm the king of Wakanda," he shortly introduced himself. "I have no clue what happened but I feel that Thanos somehow succeeded to snap his fingers like he said he will," Black Panther looked around carefully. "Last thing I remember was that I was trying to force my friend to run and then there's is a blank spot in my mind," he sighed deeply. "I don't know you, guys," T'Challa rubbed his claw agains his jawline as he looked at Guardians. "Who are you?"
Peter Quill was simply standing with arms crossed over his chest.
Mantis was one who spoke her mind aloud.
"We're Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm Mantis. This is Drax," she pointed at  muscular man. "That's Peter Quill and we have Groot over there," Mantis smiled a bit and waved to the tree-figure that was walking towards them.
"I AM GROOT!" Tree mumbled sadly and as he walked closer, he sat down on the ground shaking his head in thoughtfulness.
Suddenly, everyone heard a strange noise, something between a click and chuck.
A tall man dressed in a red cloak appeared among them out of nowhere.
"Mr. Wizard!" Peter clapped his hands. "I was scared we lost you once and for all!"
Before Bucky asked an obvious question, man raised his hand up, asking voiceless of silence.
"There was no other way," man sighed, taking his cloak off.
Material shivered softly and floated straight to Peter, placing itself on boy's arms and rubbing his back a bit.
"I'm Doctor Strange," black haired man spoke. "And I gave the Time Stone to Thanos."
There was a silence for a long moment.
T'Challa got off the stone and ran to man, punching his stomach with hand curled in a fist.
Within a second both men were laying down on the ground, struggling and grunting.
The cloak was trying to help its owner by hitting King of Wakanda time after time.
"STOP IT, FUCKERS!" Someone shouted out loudly, a strong and deep male voice nearby them.
Everyone raised their heads in that direction, T'Challa  Strange also stopped fighting.
In front of them all was standing a tall, well-built, black man. He was wearing a black, thick coat and an eye patch.
"Nick Fury..." Bucky whispered under his breath. "So this didn't happen only to us in Wakanda..."
"I don't know what the fuck did you do, guys, but I am fucking pissed off." Fury placed hands on his hips, his face was full of anger. "And you, man," he tilted head towards Strange. "Are you fucking kidding me? How could you just passed Time Stone to that fucking alien?!"
Strange pushed T'Challa off himself and slowly got up.
"There was no other way. I've traveled through many possible endings of all the situation we were having, and I swear, we managed to win with Thanos only by this one time when I gave him the Stone," Stephen explained carefully.
T'Challa snorted in disbelief, he knelt down on the sand.
"We have no idea what is going on with those who survived," he mumbled. "Shuri... Mother... Okoye... Nakia..." a single tear rolled down king's cheek. "I just wanna know if they are fine."
"If they did survive," Drax shrugged with consternation.
"Oh, c'mon!" Bucky shook his head with spite. "Stop saying this like they would be gone, okay?!"
Mantis came to Bucky and put her hand on his cheek.
"Easy now..." she whispered softly, smiling at him. "Let me help."
Within second, Bucky calmed down, his breath began to be more balanced.
"Vision..." Wanda was crying quietly, nuzzling to Sam. "So that was the reason he turned back time... He was having Time Stone..."
"So, you wanna say it's over now?" Peter blinked few times. "No, I don't agree, we gotta go back and help them! They need us! They need us, am I right, Mr. Barnes!?" he asked desperately, looking at Bucky.
Former Winter Soldier remained silent, he only lowered his head.
"Great," Fury rubbed his temples with gloved hands. "We are fucked."
"I AM GROOT!" Groot wailed sadly.
Fury looked at the tree and cocked his head aside.
"I saw aliens dropping down from the sky but it's my first time seeing a talking tree," he stated.
"We gotta figure some plan out," Peter nodded to himself. "We gotta go back. Mr. Stark will help us."
"Yea, especially Tony," Bucky snorted, chuckling darkly. "He is no one but a playboy that thinks he can do anything he want, kid. It's not a good example for someone like you."
Peter narrowed his brows.
"I beg your pardon, don't be such an..." boy hesitated. "An ASSHOLE!" he yelled and immediately covered his mouth. "I am sorry, I'm just being anxious now..."
Bucky rolled his eyes and turned with his back to Peter.
"Listen, guys," Wanda wiped her tears away. "I think we won't be able to come back to Earth until Thanos has Stones. Our last hope lies in those who stayed there," she came to T'Challa and patted his back slightly. "We can only wait, hoping they'll find a way to release us."
"I agree with her," Strange rubbed his beard. "I hope Tony understood what I was trying to tell him. Besides..." he turned to face Star Lord. "If you wouldn't hesitate then, we most likely would have won, Peter."
Quill only clenched his teeth, he turned around and slowly walked away, hiding his tears.
"I AM GROOT," Groot got up and staggered to his feet, swaying a little, he approached Star Lord, trying to hug him from behind.
But Peter refused, taking few more steps ahead.
"Leave him alone, pal," Drax miffed, looking at Groot.
"So... What's now?" Parker asked quietly.
Almost everyone remained silent but there was a dejected voice that said: "We will try to fight."
Everyone turned their head to see Star Lord who was looking up in the sky.
"We will fight when the time will come. I will fight Thanos alone if necessary. I will do whatever it will take. For Gamora."
Loki, Prince of Asgard, God of mischief, Rightful heir to Jotunhiem, ...Odinson
This story contains scenes from Avengers: Infinity War, so ya’ll have been warned. Also, definitely this is from a series I have on AO3 and Wattpad.
Also, Caitlyn is a teenager and Hawkeye/Clint Barton’s daughter. This was before we had learnt what had happened in Endgame.
Tumblr media
Thanos' hand tightened around his throat, squeezing, watching as the blood vessels popped and Loki's nose bleed. Only then, did the mad titan drop the traitor, not knowing what was happening to a certain Avenger's teenage daughter. Clint watched as his daughter clawed at her throat, obviously in too much pain to even cry out before being dropped to the ground, and managing to take a deep breath and start coughing. He hurried to her side, pulling her into his lap, gently massaging her neck, shushing her slight cries.
"Laura!" The man screamed, noticing the way his daughter's body fought against him after a few moments of taking small breaths. Laura hurried out and went still at the sight. "Clinton Francis Barton! What the hell did you do!?" She yelled as she hurried over, dropping to her daughter's side, checking for herself that her eldest was breathing. Clint looked up at him, flinching softly at the sight of her glare. "I was cutting wood when she started gasping. I couldn't do anything but watch."
Laura glared at him even more. "You're so lucky, that I'm taking mercy on you right now, Clinton." She started humming and playing with the girls' hair, trying to get her to open her eyes. Finally, the teenager's eyes fluttered open, tears quickly following. "H-He's dead..." Clint went deadly still. "Now we can't think like that, honey."
"I was on a ship, this purple man holding my throat, his grip got tighter and tighter until I turned and saw Thor a-and dozens of dead bodies. Piles upon piles. Children, old people, all of them dead. Thor was.. was..." The girl suddenly got up, running, heading for the fields that surrounded the house. Clint quickly got up to follow, but Laura stopped him. "Let her, its obvious who her soulmate was.."
Clint growled. "How can we be for sure? Last we heard, he was dead. She wasn't like this when Thor returned with that news." Laura put her hand on his shoulder, gently pushing him to face her. "Remember how I knew that Loki had taken over your mind? That's because you were in danger and I needed to protect you, but I couldn't. I have our children to protect, and that overpowered our link, I felt every inch of pain you've felt. The means Loki has felt our little girls' pain, every scraped knee, the broken arm, the dog bites, all of it. He knows what it's like to feel that protectiveness to someone that wasn't his immediate family."
The two flinched when they heard it, the painfilled scream. The scream made Clint's eyes fill with tears. "I hope he knows how much pain she is in now." Laura gently pulled him close and held him. The two were surprised when they got the phone call.
"I need you to bring Caitlyn to New York. She needs to see Bruce." Tony's voice rang through the cell phone. "No can do, Stark. She's in pain right now." There was clattering and then a few moments later, someone picked up the phone. "C-Clint..?"
Clint sighed softly. "What?"
The voice timidly replied. "It's me, Bruce. I need to see Caitlyn, it's about Loki." Clint handed the phone to Laura and bolted, toward where the scream was only to run into by the teenager. "He's alive!" The teen had fresh tears running down her face. "He's ALIVE!" She sprinted for the house, hurrying up the stairs and inside. Caitlyn was hurrying to get packed so she could go and meet him, it was just one of his clones, she knew he could make clones when she hacked into SHIELD's database to finally get a good look at her soulmate. She skirted around Cooper and Lila. Nathaniel was in his nursery as she bolted for her room, tossing the door open and pulling out multiple piles of clothes and then tossing them into a bag before hurrying back down the stairs, tripping a small bit but otherwise okay.
Caitlyn grabbed the truck keys and waited on the porch, holding out the keys. "Let's go!" Clint sighed and ran up, grabbing the keys, then looking at Laura. "I'll call you when we get on the main road so we can call in a quinjet."
~MANDATORY TIMESKIP~
Caitlyn was sent to New York by herself, in a quinjet. She quietly stepped off it and went still at the crowd staring up into the sky. "What's going on?" Pepper grabbed the girl and pulled her close. "I don't know. Come on, we're taking you to the next safest place on earth." Caitlyn was so confused but go back onto the Quinjet, being seated next to Bruce and grilled him for details on her soulmate, only for him to take her arms. "Caitlyn, he's dead. I watched it. Everyone except maybe Thor is dead."
Her eyes hardened and emotions took over, slapping the scientist with seven PHD's. Bruce gasped and held his cheek, as the teenager looked at her hand in shock. "I-I didn't mean to do that! I'm so sorry!" Bruce rubbed her arm. "Its nothing, don't worry. I understand where your mind is."
"No-one does. No, you don't. You didn't look into the monster's eyes as you started dying, the oxygen in your throat turning into carbon, the feeling of pain circling your entire face, getting light headed. You don't know what it's like to be in that spot. You don't know what it's like to cast your eyes aside and look at the piles of dead bodies, piles of children, and families!"
Bruce went still. His face paling. "So, you saw him." The teenager nodded. "I saw it alright, that monster doesn't deserve a FUCKING NAME!" Her body started shaking as she started crying again, this time curling into Bruce and sobbing into his shirt. The scientist held her, rocking them slightly. Bruce held her the entire time, finding support in the teenager.
Arriving in Wakanda wasn't easy, as it finally took Bruce, personally asking for Natasha for them to get clearance to land. When they finally got on the ground, Caitlyn was the first one out, running toward the Russian woman who had her arms out. The two clattered onto the pavement, tears restarting. The two females, curling around the other in much-needed support was an awkward sight. No one would've thought that Natasha Romanoff would be holding Clinton Barton's eldest daughter, crying. Steve kneeled down beside them and held them, his hand gently running over their hair, murmuring how everything was going to be okay.
Finally, the three of them got up and led Caitlyn into the palace, the teenager saw T'Challa and the first words from her was. "Sam was right, you do like cats." Steve groaned and Bruce full on laughed. T'Challa walked over to her and crossed his arms, then pounding them into his chest. "Wakanda forever." The teenager repeated, the two chatting like the end of days wasn't full on steadily heading toward them.
Bruce pulled Steve and Natasha aside. "She claims that Loki's still alive. What I saw was just a clone, to her knowledge. They're soulmates, we can't stop that. If he is alive and she's on the battlefield with us, and he gets hurt, she'll be down for the count and useless."
Natasha glared at him. "Excuse me, Bruce. Do you know whose daughter that is? That's Clint's kid. She's twenty times better than any archer, we need her on that battlefield and I know Clint will kill me if she gets hurt." Steve looked at them. "Guys, calm it. We still have Wanda and Shuri working on getting rid of the soul stone. We don't need you two fighting on top of all this."
Caitlyn walked over, fidgeting with something on her wrist, smiling. She looked up at them. "Its a bracelet." She stated as if it was purely obvious. The Avengers chuckled softly and ruffled her hair, smiling. "Why don't you go hang out with Pepper at the moment, Cait?" Steve asked.
The teenager scoffed. "Hell, no." She said, looking at them. "I'm going to help here, and if that's going to be a problem, then you can take it up with my supervisor." She gestured to her foot. "He'll ignore it all anyway."
The entire group started laughing, a rare moment of happiness until it all came crashing down. Thanos was attacking and Caitlyn had made it onto the battlefield.
She had on some of Clints very old gear, wearing it with pride as she held a crossbow and shooting down aliens when they broke through the barrier until Proxima Midnight had managed to get her cornered. The teen chuckled. "Come on then! Do it! I've already lost everything to me." She dropped her crossbow and opened her arms. "Kill me."
Natasha heard the yelling and came rushing over, jumping onto Proxima Midnight, shocking the hell out of her while Caitlyn filled the Alien with arrows. She ran out of arrows, Proxima already on the ground, as she pulled out a knife as she jumped back into battle. "FOR EARTH!" She screamed, stabbing aliens as she jumped from back to back until someone grasped her hair and tugged her down to the ground and pointed a knife at her throat, the alien didn't have a good grip so she rolled over and screamed at the pain of the knife slicing up her shoulder. She heard a groan of pain a few feet away but didn't pay attention to it as everyone was either screaming or crying in pain.
Someone tackled the alien off of her and snapped its neck, before helping Caitlyn up. She leaned onto the person before screaming as she realized it was another alien before it shimmered into the one face she'd always wanted to see. Loki. The god healed her before pulling her up and materializing a sword for her to handle. "You can do this love, I promise that you can do this."
Caitlyn, with a new bought of energy, surged out into battle. Her mindset on winning and winning only. She fought and fought until she saw Thanos appear and anger filled her body. "HEY! BARNEY!" She screamed, rushing toward him, only to get tossed back and slamming into a tree, a sickening crack as her head met wood.
Thanos chuckled and headed toward Wanda and Vision, everyone surging to protect them as Caitlyn faded in and out of consciousness. Her eyes trying to focus the battle as she tried to get up only to scream in pain, hearing a similar one across the field, stunned everyone, including Thanos, although it was for a moment. Loki was groaning as he worked on running toward Caitlyn, to heal her, to fix her. The pain was deafening, and the last thing Caitlyn saw was Loki's blue-green eyes meeting hers.
~MANDATORY TIMESKIP~
Loki stayed beside her bed for days, the snap happened they were the lucky few to still have each other. Loki and Thor had chatted as Loki mainly stayed beside her, keeping her safe, himself. Then the fateful day happened, Clint walked into the room, his hair definitely changed but didn't pay attention to the god beside his daughter as he sat down beside her, holding her hand. "I still have my Hawkling. Good."
Clint finally looked at Loki. "Thank you. You've kept her safe even when I couldn't." Loki nodded. "Anything for her. She's still in an immense amount of pain, but it's getting lesser every day and she's starting to open her eyes." Caitlyn heard her father and forced herself to open her eyes and squeeze her father's hand. "Hawkling!" She saw his hair and the look in his eyes and her heart monitor started spiking, forcing Loki to get up. "Out, Barton! You're scaring her."
Caitlyn's eyes shifted from her father to Loki, her eyes softening and a smile appearing on her face, although it was hard when a breathing tube was down her throat. She reached out for the god and instantly the man calmed down and held her hands. "Hello Darling, I don't think we were properly introduced." He chuckled at the blush appearing on her face. He snapped his fingers, flinching softly, and the breathing tube was gone, letting the teenager breath and try to talk. Clint sighed softly and left, his fingers drifting from her arm and to the bed. Loki and Caitlyn silently communicated for a while.
Everything was bliss. Everything was fine. Earth was adjusting, We'd learn to control grief, one day.
A/N : PAr 10 anyone ? is someone even wait for this shits ? Anyway any question just ask me through the ask box.. Love Y’alll
Normal POV
 When Cas saw the words on Dean’s back, he could’ve swore he’d got a heart attack. What he saw is somewhat similar to what he found from the crime scene this morning.
“Remember when I told you I couldn’t find anything this morning?” The brothers nodded “Well.. I missed it..” He took his phone and shows the brothers the exact same words on Dean’s back. “This words craved in one of the mirror in that house, at first I thought it’s not important. But then later I sensed some sort of power coming out of it.”
“And what is that ?” Sam asked
“Time… exists far before God was born, He used his power to form realities, to control them.. and when he did change the reality, there would be a trace somewhere. To mark what has been changed in those realities..”
“So whoever this Time guy he changed me ? in this reality?” Dean said confused.
“I’m afraid yes..”
“But why me? What it has to do with me?”
“That’s what we’re about to find out.” Without warning, Cas places his hand on Dean’s back right where the words were. Then everything goes white, blinding white untill they are forced to close their eyes tight.
 Y/N’s POV
 “I don’t care… I have to bring him back…it’s not supposed to happened.”
“But you have to be sure son… you’re about to change his reality… the one that never lead him to his death, to you…”
“I’ll do anything for him.. father.. tell me how to do it…”
He guide me through the ritual, changing reality, Dean’s reality. To the one when he never met me, to the one where he live and still hunting to save people. By the end of the ritual, Dean’s body disappeared. I began to panicked thingking that something has gone wrong.
“Don’t worry son, it worked.. he’s home now..”
I then broke down right then and there. This is the right thing to do, to save him, the men I love. But it still hurts, knowing that he would never remember me, he would never knew that I’m exsist, he would never knew that I love him, more than anything. But this is the right thing to do. Since when in my life, the right thing to do doesn’t inflict pain to anyone ? Hell even my father left me when I can barely recognize him. it was painfull, it still is now. But I made up my mind, it’s too late to back down, My family is all dead, Cas, Sam and Dean doesn’t even know that I exsist anymore. I have no one now, so there’s nothing to loose.
 I woke up from those memories again, the day when I decided to erase myself from his life. It was the hardest decision in my life, but as my grandpa taught me, I have to fight. Yeah, no mater what kind of choices I have, I have to choose to fight. Years ago I chose to fight to protect my brothers and sisters. And now’s the same, I choose to fight to protect people that I love, my family, my Dean.
 Walking through the hall on the outside part of the castle. Taking every detail I could, it’s been few weeks since I arrived, or few days on earth, but I never realized how dreamy this place looked. I looked to the right where the hall is guarded with beautifully craved pillars, and raillings. The sight outside is none other than the most beautiful valley i’ve ever seen. The grass was green, filled with colourful flowers here and there, and few old trees that looks majestic. Now that I think about it again, this looks exactly like in those fantasy movies I watched. While I lost in my train of thoughts, I bumped to something hard, a metal. I looked up to meet a very pissed of expresion from a men that I bumped. I took a step back, and taking in his features. Tall, very tall with dark hair, and the most muscular body i’ve ever seen judging from the size of his arms. The armor he wears, the sword on his hip, and the big shield he carry, i could tell that he’s one of the prime pieces. From which side? Of course from the bad one, it’s all written on his face. But despite of that, I apologized for bumping him, admitting that I was walking without looking. I did it in hope maybe somehow he would see my descency as a men, and wouldn’t snap at me. But boy, I was wrong.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking..” I bowed my head, out of habit in apologizing
“How dare you!..” He paused “Ah.. you’re the king’s son.. no wonder Cosmos was so eager to gring you here. You would be easy to kill, it will destroy Chronos without even need to fight him. Such a clumsy…” His tone dripping poison.
I snaped my head up and glared at him loosing it “Excuse me ? Ha.. me… easy to kill ? wrong guess big guy.. And who are you anyway ? wearing all those tin looking like a trash can blocking ten feet wide hallway..”
To my insult he growled and charging at me. But before he could grab me, a pair of strong hands pulled me to the side. Making him tripped over himself and land on his face, a loud pang was heard through the hallway from the impact of his armor and the floor.
“I guess you’re the clumsy one here Templar..” The voice coming from someone that pulled me.
“you are so dead in the next game Aria…” The men said through gritted teeth after he rushed to his feet, then leave me alone with this girl who just saved me. She turned to me and offer me her hand, I take it “Aria, I’m a pawn for the rook..” I raised my eyebrows and she gets what I’m asking without I voiced it “Hilda… I’m her pawn.”
“Nice to meet you Aria, I’m (Y/N).. bishop of the king I guess?..” I introduced myself
“I know who you are your highness.. anyway, that moron didn’t gave you any trouble before I got here?”
“No..because you saved me..thank you… by the way.. I never saw you since I arrived..”
“Oh about that..” She pulled something from her waist bag, a necklace. With a crystal as the pendant, a clear one with the hint of purple. “King asked me to make this for you.. took me long enough, I have to search for the right materials so I haven’t been around castle for a while” She handed me the necklace with crystal pendant. “It’s charmed necklace, we use it to communicate with eachother and we will be able to find eachother’s location with it. It’s a go to item from Team King..” she grinned at me.
“Thank you..So.. how did you fight in the last game?”
“Pardon ?”
“I mean everyone has a power here, especially those who’s involved in the game. I want to know your power since I heard from Arthur you and Hilda took down half of Cosmos’s army in the last game”
“Well first, that wasn’t an army. The thing is, Bishop of Cosmos has a power to enchance her pawn’s power, and her pawn can multiply himself so they made a clones in a large amount. Besides of that, the bishop is fairly weak so my job was to use my power to sneak around and attack the bishop while Hilda went wild with the clones.”
“And your power is..?”
“I could disappear from anyone’s sight.” She said to the point.
“That’s cool… like a ninja..”
“Thank you your highness.. although I don’t know what is this ninja you are talking about”
I chuckled at that “And that men earlier who was he?”
“Templar? He’s a knight of Cosmos, he’s strong, with a hot body, a face, but all those doesn’t mean a thing because of his attitude..”
I look at her giving her a knowing look “You like him..” I said shortly. She doesn’t deny it, but only smiles shyly. “Well.. that’s cute..ohh how about his pawn?”
“His pawn is ghost horse, you know? The knights have the tendency to make their pawn as their mount so they choosed those with animal forms. It’s the rooks of Cosmos that we really have to be careful of..”
“why is that ?”
“Last game was chaotic, a litteral war. Hilda fight the clones of pawn, while I sneak up to their bishop. Artur and Pegasus fight Templar and his pawn. The King and the Queen were against each other. And our bishop was fighting against quen’s rook. At least that’s what we thought, until the next thing we know bishop killed his own pawn and fight against us.” She took a deep breath and continues “We didn’t know her power, until she controls king’s bishop… Total Control, her power.. she would kill her enemy using her pawn, a voodoo doll. And after that, she put her consiousness into that dead body.”
“Wow..” is only my respond to her explainations
“But we won though, the king and his pawn won against the queen.That ended the game… Didn’t anyone told you?”
“Nah.. maybe because I never asked..and how about the previous bishop?”
To this question she looked down and smiled sadly. “He was a good men. When the king asked us to be his pieces, the bishop is there. He was an angel, a fallen angel that was punished not to be able to reincarnate.”
“Wait angel reincarnate ?” I cut her, because I was sure that angel doesn’t reincarnate. Because that’s what Cas told me.
“Some of them do, he was as ancient as the arcangels. Baraqiel, angel of the raging sky. His pawn was also an angel by the way… Well let’s stop this right here, because I still have some mission the king gave me… See you again your majesty.” With that, she leave me.
 A moment latter I’m already in the practice hall, fighting both Hilda and Arthur. These two never hold back in a fight, I was thrown here and there before I decided to used my power in the battle. But the minute I did, they did too. Hilda make the the gravity works three times on my body, making me hard to move a muscle. Arthur is running for me, with excalibur blazing a green flame, ethernal flame he told me. He was about to slash me with it when I stoped the time, then I used my power to bring the gravity around me to when it was before Hilda used her power. I moved to the other side of the field before the time is moving again. Hilda and Arthur seems shocked at this, because I never once used time pause in front of them. We ended the practice because of my father’s voice.
“How’s your practice going kids?” He asked all of us
Arthur was the first to answer “Impeccable your majesty, the prince has incridible skill in fighting.”
“That’s good, how about you Hilda? Do you think he’s ready for the game?”
“Of course your majesty, He was ready even before we practice with him.” She gave me her side smirk.
“Good, about the game…” He turned to me “Son, you need to find your pawn as soon as possible.”
“Why ?” He never once asked me about this, and now that he did, it means something is up.
“My sister, she’s starting her universe demolition. She destroyed two galaxy without me even knowing. Her pieces worked in the shadows with her this whole time. That’s why..”
“We need to start the game before she destroy another one…” I finished his sentence.
He nodded, and gave me sad smile. It’s still strange to see him, sometime’s awkward, but he never hold back his emotion to show. And by showing emotions means he even cried in front of me. Not the manly crying, but the sobbing childlike cry. That happened the day I came here, we were talking about mom, and he lost it. He then continued to talk “I know it’s hard for you son, but we have to do it, to protect the people we love, to protect the earth where we both find love, to protect home..”
I looked into his eyes. “I promised Dad..” It’s the first time ever I called him that, and he smiled “I promised myself to do so.. Give me a week and I’ll bring my pawn here.”
“Wait.. a week here or a week on earth?” He asked suddenly aware of my request.
  Dean’s POV
 My head is killing me right now. Due to the fact that I was tired, also to the fact that Cas decided to give us this bright light shock wave. I tried to open my eyes, but I can’t. It was bright a moment ago, and the next thing it turned dark. I tried and I tried, but I can’t. My eyes heavy, my whole body feels like it’s never been floowed by blood. I can’t feel anything, I’m numb, I wanted to scream but not a single damn muscle can move. I fight and fight harder, trying to at leat feel something. Then I heard it, a voice, a men’s voice, labored breath, he’s crying ? I can’t hear what he said, then I focused on listening.
“Dean.. wake up… don’t leave me like this… it’s all my fault, you’re not supposed to be dead… Dean…wake up”
Fuck I’m dead? Why am I dead? And who is this men crying? HIs fault? What is he talking about? More and more questions came to my mind. Then like a water poured to the full glass, the memories flooding my head. Months ago a boy came to the Bunker, he has the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. His smiles are so familiar, so heart warming. His laugh brought me mine, his touch on my skin was electrifying. Like that time when I date Cassie, I’m in love? With him? a men? The more and more time I let myself swims in these flood of memories makes my head hurts. Then I heard him again.
“I don’t care…” He paused “If It’s what it takes to bring him back, let it be. He’s dead because he met me, it would be better if he never knew me at all.” He sobbed “Dean, months after my family died, it was you who made me smile for the first time. And before I know it, it was you that makes me smile everyday after that. I know I rarely said this, we are.. rarely said this… but I need you to at least hear it before you couldn’t remember me… I love you Dean Winchester, I’ll always love you…”
To his words, more and more memories coming back. Like a wave on the ocean, the memories came back all at once. Making my body jolted awake, I screamed his name.
Remember how you said that it was Dean’s idea gone wrong? Well this was a whole new level for you. You didn’t even believe in God but you were pretending to be Priests. You sighed and looked at the boys. You have got to say, even though this was wrong, Dean looked really good from behind.
“This has gotta be a whole new low for us.” Sam whispered, sighing to himself. You reached for the doorbell and rang it, waiting.
“I have got to say, it might be wrong but you guys are hot.” You smirked and stared straight ahead. You didn’t miss the smirk grow on Dean’s face. The door opened to see the man last night on the porch who was crying with the woman. You had practiced what you were going to say but once you saw the distraught man, you forgot what you were going to say.
“Good Afternoon. I'm Father Simmons, this is Father Frehley and that’s Sister Brenham. We're new junior priests over at St Augustine. May we come in?” You gave the man a gentle smile and he nodded, stepping aside for you three to enter.
“Thank you.” You said politely and walked inside, looking around. It was a nice house.
“We're very sorry for your loss.” Sam said in a gentle tone.
“It's in difficult times like these when the Lord's guidance is most needed.” Dean said. You had to fight the urge to roll your eyes. You just dealt with a man who thought he was a healer and now you were no better than him.
“Look, you wanna pitch your whole 'Lord has a plan' thing? Fine. Just don't pitch it to me. My brother's dead.” The man growled out. Your eyes widened at his tone but the woman last night came into the room.
“Roger. Please!” She said. You assumed she was the dead man’s wife.
“Excuse me.” Roger said, moving out of the room.
“I'm sorry about my brother in law. He's... he's just so upset about Jim's death. Would you like some coffee?” Mrs. Miller said with a small smile.
“Sure, that would be great.” Dean said, smiling back. You followed Mrs. Miller into the living room and took a seat on the couch, in between Dean and Sam.
“It was wonderful of you to stop by. The support of the church means so much right now.” She said, handing out the cups of coffee. You felt a twinge of guilt but you pushed that down.
“Of course. After all we are all God's children.” Dean said, trying to be serious. Mrs. Miller smiled and took the coffee pot away, walking into the kitchen. As soon as she was gone, Dean reached for the cocktail sausage on the table and started eating some. You giggled at his love for food. You had the same appetite as him but you knew when times were appropriate or not. Sam scoffed and shook his head at his brother.
“What?” Dean said, looking at Sam.
“Just... tone it down a little bit, Father.” You giggled again but stopped when Mrs. Miller came back into the room.
“So, Ms. Miller, did your husband have a history of depression?” Dean aske when he swallowed the food.
“Nothing like that. We had our ups and downs like everyone but we were happy. I just don't understand how Jim could do something like this.” She said, beginning to cry. You honestly felt really bad for her. You never knew what you would do if you lost Dean.
“I'm so sorry you had to find him like that.” Sam said, sighing.
“Actually, our son Max was the one who found him.” She pointed behind her and you shifted your gaze to the young man you saw before. He looked awful, now that you got a closer look at him.
“Do you mind if maybe, I go talk to him?” Sam asked Ms. Miller.
“Oh, thank you Father.” She smiled, giving him permission.
“Ms. Miller you have a lovely home. How long have you lived here?” Dean asked, watching his brother walk away.
“We moved in about five years ago.” She said, nodding. You looked at Dean. Was he making small talk or was he hinting at something else?
“The only problem with these old houses. I bet you have all kind of headaches.” Dean said.
“Like what?” Ms. Miller said with confusion.
“Well, weird leaks, electrical shortages, and odd settling noises at night. That kind of thing.” Dean said, looking at her. You knew what he was doing. He was checking to see if there were any signs of ghost activity.
“No, nothing like that. It's been perfect.” She said, shrugging.
Huh, may we use your restroom?” Dean asked.
“Both of you?” She raised her eyebrows.
“Yeah, he has a medical problem.” You whispered to her. She nodded slowly, becoming uncomfortable.
“It's just up the stairs.” She said, pointing to the stairs. You heard Dean sigh and got up from the couch, walking up the stairs.
“I am so getting you back for that.” Dean said.
“Oh, come on, it was kind of funny.” You giggled softly and looked up at him. Dean shook his head and pulled out the EMF meter and turned it on, scanning the room with it. You looked at the device, seeing you were getting nowhere with it since it decided to be quiet.
You didn’t know what you were going to find with the thing but you didn’t have time to look further. You heard footsteps come up the stairs and you turned around, seeing Sam’s brown and bouncy hair pop up.
“Anything?” He asked.
“Nope.” You shrugged. You and Dena made your way back down the stairs and said your goodbyes to the woman. You didn’t know what was going on but Sam had something to do with it in some way. It was time to do more research and it wasn’t going to get done at Ms. Miller’s house.
You went back to the motel with the boys and while Sam was out somewhere. Dean was teaching you to clean the guns but you weren’t listening. You were too busy staring at the way his muscles contorted into things they weren’t.
“Y/N, are you even listening?” Dean said, looking at you, placing the gun down because he finished it.
“Not really.” You said honestly.
“Why not? You have to listen if you want to be successful.” Dean said, shaking his head.
“Oh yeah? What are you going to do if I don’t?” You smirked. You noticed this was the first time in a while that you were alone. He smirked and pulled your body to him but flipped you over so you were resting below him. You squealed at the sudden movements and stared into his beautiful irises.
“How about I show you?” Dean said before placing his lips on yours. It felt so nice to kiss him whenever you felt the need to. He was very skilled and he knew what he was doing. You wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him with just as much passion as he was giving you.
You felt his tongue probe at your lips and you opened them, inviting his tongue inside your mouth. You felt his calloused hand slipping up your shirt and gripping your waist. You moaned in the kiss and couldn’t focus on anything but what Dean’s lips was doing to you.
“Really, you have to do that here?” Sam said, shutting the door loudly. You groaned and pulled away from Dean’s lips reluctantly. You needed to start getting two motel rooms from now on.
“Nice timing, Sammy.” Dean said, getting up and looking at his younger brother.
“Sorry, but we need to figure this out.” Sam said, sighing as he sat down at a table. You sat up and leaned your head on Dean’s shoulder.
“What do you have?” Dean wondered.
“A whole lot of nothing. Nothing bad has happened in the Miller house since it was built.” Sam sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“What about the land?” You wondered.
“No grave yards, battle fields, tribal lands or any other kind of atrocity on or near the property.”
“Hey man I told you, I searched that house up and down. No cold spots or sulfur scent.” Dean said, holding your hand.
“And the family said everything was normal?” Sam asked.
“Well, if there was a demon or poltergeist in there you think somebody would have noticed something? I used the inferred thermal scanner, Sam, and there was nothing.” You said softly. Maybe there was really nothing going on here.
“So, what, you think Jim Miller killed himself and my dream was just some sort of freakish coincidence??” Sam asked.
“No, I’m not saying that. But from the real devices we used, there was nothing supernatural in the house.” You said.
“Well, maybe it has nothing to do with the house,” Sam took a deep breath and held his head. “Maybe it's just... maybe it's connected to Jim in some other way?” Sam gripped his head more and cried out in anguish, sliding from the table to the floor.
“Sam, what’s wrong?” You got up and made your way to him.
“My head.” He got out before his eyes glazed over as if he was seeing some other world beside this one. You grabbed his arm and looked at Dean for help.
“Dean, what’s happening to him?”
“I don’t know and I don’t know how to help.” You knew he hated feeling helpless. Sam wasn’t doing anything but staring at the wall behind you. You just had to wait until he came out of whatever it is that was holding him. Apparently, it wasn’t long before he came out of the trance-like- state.
“It's happening again. Something's going to kill Roger Miller.” Sam said, gasping as he came back down to Earth.
“Well then, let’s go. Do you know where he lives?” You asked, helping Sam up.
“We’ll figure that out on the way. Come on.” Sam was urgent as he rushed out to the car, Dean and you fresh on his tail. Everyone got in the car and Dean was racing down the street. Like last time, Sam pulled out his phone and dialed a number, placing it to his ear.
“Roger Miller. Ah no, no, just the address please. Ok, thanks.” Sam said slowly, holding his head.
“450 West Grove, Apartment 1120.” Sam said to his brother and Dean sped up his driving to get to the place.
“You okay?” you asked Sam. He hung up the phone and sighed deeply, holding his head.;
“Yeah.”
“If you're going to hurl I'll pull the car over you know, cause the upholstery...” Dean trailed off and Sam huffed out in response.
“Dean. He’s fine. Just drive.” You said and Dean nodded, speeding up.
“Dean, Y/N, I'm scared. These nightmares were bad enough, now I'm seeing things when I'm awake? And these, visions, or whatever, they're getting more intense and painful.” Sam sighed, looking down, holding his head.
“Come on man, you'll be all right. It'll be fine.” Dean said. You could tell he didn’t know how to help. In all fairness, you didn’t either.
“What is it about the Millers? Why am I connected to them, why am I watching them die? Why the hell is this happening to me?” Sam complained.
“I don't know Sam but we'll figure it out. We've faced the unexplainable every day. This is just another thing.” Dean said, trying to comfort his brother.
“No. It's never been us. It's never been in the family like this. Tell the truth, you can't tell me this doesn't freak you out.” Sam said, asking both you and Dean.
“This doesn’t freak me out.” Dean said, looking at the road.
“Sam, it is freaky, I’ll admit that but we handle this like we handle everything else. Okay? You have nothing to worry about.” Sam nodded and he seemed pleased with your response for at least the moment.
Dean got to Roger’s apartment to see him walk to the complex with a bag of groceries.
“Hey Roger.” Sam said, rolling the window down to talk to him.
“What are you guys, missionaries? Leave me alone.” Roger growled out. You didn’t like him. You could tell he had anger management issues.
“Please!” Sam pleaded with him. But Roger wouldn’t listen and left you and the boys alone. You braced yourself when Dean jumped the curb and parked in a hurry. You got out with the boys and ran closer to Roger.
“Hey. Roger. We're trying to help!” You pleaded, running with the men.
“Please! Hey, hey!” Sam said just as Roger was going to close the door in his face. But Sam was quick and stopped him from doing so.
“I don't want your help.” Roger glared at him. He shut the door and walked away from it.
“Roger, you're in danger!” Sam cupped his mouth to make his voice louder so that Roger would be able to hear him even when the door was closed.
“Come on. Come on, come on!” Dean said, looking around. You followed Dean when he ran around back, seeing an entrance. Of course, it was locked but this was the Winchesters. They always had a way into locked buildings. Sam wasn’t having any of the locked bullshit and he kicked the door open, jumping onto the first level of the fire escape. With Dean’s help, you got up and waited for him to get on there as well.
You and the Winchesters rushed up the flights of stairs, hoping to get there in time but you were too late. You heard the unmistakable squish of Roger’s head being sliced by the window. You ran up the remaining steps, holding onto the railing, gasping at what you saw. Roger’s head was in the flowerbed, his blood all over the window itself.
You looked at Dean who pulled out a handkerchief out of his jacket and handed one to Sam, one to you and had one for himself.
“Start wiping down your fingerprints, we don't want the cops to know we were here. Come on, come on!” You started wiping your fingerprints down on the things you touched.
“I'm going to take a look inside.” Dean said, opening the window with his rag. You let Sam keep wiping things down and you followed Dean inside, making sure not to touch anything.
“What are we looking for?” You asked, looking around.
“Sulfur or EMF readings but I’m not getting anything from this.” Dean said, putting away his EMF meter. You sighed and with more thorough looking, you came up with nothing. What the hell was going on? You and the Winchesters, after making sure there were no evidence left behind that the three of you were ever there, left.
“I'm telling you there was nothing in there. No signs either, just like the Miller's house.” Dean sighed, leaning on the Impala. You looked at him and sighed. This one was a real head turner.
“I saw something, in the vision. Like a dark shape. Something was.... something was stalking Roger.” Sam said, remembering what he saw.
“Whatever it was, are you sure it's not connected to their house?” Dean asked.
“I don’t think so, Dean. If it was, you think we would have noticed something by now? There is nothing going on in either house.” You pointed out.
“It's connected to the family themselves. So, what do you think, like a vengeful spirit?” Sam said.
“Well yeah, there's a few that have been known to latch onto families and follow them for years.” You said.
“Angiak and Banshees to name a few.” Sam said, naming a few examples.
“Basically, like a curse. So maybe Roger and Jim Miller got involved in something heavy, something curse worthy.” You said.
“Now the something is out for revenge and the men in their family are dying.” Dean said, adding to your thought.
“Hey, you think Max is in Danger?” Sam asked after a few moments of silence.
“Let's figure it out before he is.” Dean said, getting in the car.
“Well, I know one thing I have in common with these people.” Sam said, getting in the passenger’s seat. You got in the back and Dean was pulling onto the road.
“What’s that?” You asked.
“Both our families are cursed.” Sam said.
“Our family's not cursed! We just... had our dark spots.” Dean tried to defend his family.
“Our dark spots are... pretty dark.” Sam chuckled.
“You’re… dark.” Dean pouted, driving in silence. You smiled and rested your head on the back seat, ready for this to be over.
