several thoughts(tm) on dean’s bar-owning hallucination/dream from when michael was possessing him:

first of all, obviously all the details of this incarnation of pamela are basically a parallel to cas, making her as close as she could be to cas without being cas. the “to hell and back” t-shirt and the wings necklace are incredibly on the nose. but i also wanna add that the fact that this manifestation is pamela in the first place is a parallel to cas.

first, it doesn’t really make sense for it to be pamela at the time of this series. we hadn’t seen pamela for maybe eight seasons, and she died in season 5(?), so she wasn’t exactly relevant to the series at this time. but i think it was her of all people because she was dean’s first impression of cas. it was pamela who reached to cas in the séance and was the first in the whole series to speak his name, and it was the image of pamela finding castiel that is dean’s first time ever experience of him.

also, on the cas stand in being a woman: aside from the fact that the cw is very obviously homophobic, i prefer to think that it’s dean’s internalised homophobia. this version of pamela is as close to cas as she could be, but she’s just not a man.

thirdly and finally, there’s the repeated mantra of sam and cas being on a hunt and that they are supposed to be back tomorrow. or something. and it just kinda hurts that in dean’s ideal world, cas is coming back to him. cas is always coming home.

Ok, this is what pissed me off about the Supernatural finale.

One of the things I loved about this show is its lessons.

And one of the most valuable lessons is that you choose your Family.

If someone is related to you but he/she is nothing but a douchebag, if he/she never be there for you, if he/she is toxic, then it's not your Family.

And that, that is a fucking deep lesson.

I for example struggled for years bc I thought that if someone is related to me, even if he/she had always been a shitty person, is anyway my family and I owe he/she something.

Supernatural taught me that it's not like that. Supernatural taught me that true Family is who is always there for you, especially during hard times. It's who cares for you, it's who knows everything about you, bad and good things, and still loves you.

And it's not about blood, it's not about being related.

It's a fucking important lesson that can change the way you see life and relationships.

And then comes the finale.

And everything is erased.

How painful are these words? After all the things they did and all the people they've met, the Family they've built...

The last Dean's speech is all about him and Sam, ONLY he and Sam. He said that the only important thing is Sam, always been. Period.

And then he goes to heaven and meets Bobby. Bobby was like a father to him and Sam, always helped them and protected them. But hey no time for you, just as I understand how heavens work (and most of all that Sam will come) time for me to go.

He tells Dean that Rufus is here, that his parents are here, and that Cas is here, but nothing and no one is important to Dean.

He just wants to wait for Sam. That's all.

He doesn't care for his parents, his friends, and even for Cas. Cas who is Family, bc he said that multiple times.

But nothing matters anymore, just him and Sam. He has to wait anyway so why in the hell wouldn't he go to see one of them?

He would care to know if they're ok, if everything is fine. He would go to see and talk to them, telling them everything that happened.

Why they have to erase everything that was built in fifteen seasons?

Of course Dean cares about Sam! Of course is one, maybe even the most, important person in his life but is not the only one! 

Why they erase all the relationships they've built, all the people they care about, the ones who even if they're not blood became Sam and Dean's Family?

This is not the Supernatural I know, this is not the Supernatural I love.

I love the interaction between Chuck and Becky. Someone else did this analysis but they were right, this is like the fans (us, Becky) and the writers (Chuck), talking. Like we are successful and love Supernatural for what we made it and the writers/producers come crawling back, not understanding that we don't want the dumb story they wrote, we want the one that exists in our head. And because they are the writers, they can write a dumb ending they KNOW we are going to hate (Becky hating Chucks ending).

like in the last episode he says to sam that yeah he thinks about jack and cas too, but they need to continue living so their sacrifice was worth something. and i just. i think that's so sad and so beautiful and heartbreaking.

this man that fell to his knees when cas died in s12, that tried to kll himself, that begged to chuck to bring cas back. this man that started SOBBING when cas confessed. this man that loses faith everytime cas is gone —

he wanted to live. for him. for the life castiel gave him when he sacrificed himself.

dean would die for everyone else. he'd give his life in a heartbeat. but for cas, he'd try to live.

• S15 E03 The Rupture

At the start of the episode, Rowena recites a spell in Italian for some arcane reason so I decided to switch languages and see if they changed it in the Italian dub: turns out they did because in the English version the Italian was a bit...wonky? So in the dub they changed the words 😂

Also, I already said this but, I can't stress it enough how sweet and smooth and youthful the italian voice actors sound even tho it's the final seasons and the brothers are basically middle-aged men with a life of trauma on their shoulders. It's so disorienting, compared to their original voices. Not bad per sé, just- the va are actually pretty great, despite the fact that I'm not a big fan of the adaptation, but still I think that they're too clean and so the characters lose a little something.

Now, for the opinion about these past episodes: the writers ran out of ideas at least 4 seasons ago and this feels like an absolute mess and btw Castiel is gay and I think I understand the "Destiel divorce" jokes now? Correct me if I'm wrong ah and also fuck God (but what's new?).

Summary:

Cas unwillingly comes back from The Empty and purposefully avoids Dean, not willing to face him after his blatant rejection in the dungeon. Meanwhile, Dean is figuring out what he should do about the whole Love Confession Thing when they learn that Cas's accidental jailbreak broke The Empty, letting out most of its occupants. Now that every villain they have ever fought is back, Team Free Will 3.0 has their work cut out for them. Welcome to Season 16.

Sneak Peak:

They peel out of the garage and Dean floors it on US-40 West. A month, is all Dean can think about. Cas has been back for a whole month. 

For the past six-ish months, Dean’s been trudging through his life, barely getting out of bed each day, nearly letting himself get dead by a gang of pussy-ass vampires in masks. Every damn word of Cas’s cute little speech playing on repeat every time Dean closed his eyes. Every time he tries to sleep its dark, and the black goo swallows him up. It’s in his lungs, his nose, he can’t fucking see. 

"You are the most selfless, most loving human being I will ever know."

And Cas is the most selfish son of a bitch Dean’s ever known. 

He fumes, his foot pressing the pedal down. He’ll show Cas loving. Dean’s gonna rip him apart. 

Sam tries to talk to him. “Why do you think he didn’t tell us he was back?” He asks. He’s got the whole kicked puppy thing going on, and Dean’s chest breaks a little. It’s one thing for Cas to do this to Dean. The two of them have always been at each other’s throats. Profound Bond and everything, but to do this to Sam? Arguably Cas’s other best friend? It’s not like the dude’s rolling in the popularity department, so to die and come back, and not tell your two best friends? That’s a new kind of fucked up that makes Dean sick. 

And the kicker is, Dean can come up with a guess or two about why Cas didn’t tell them. He’s got the full story, while Sam’s got the whole “He sacrificed himself for me,” PG-13 explanation with absolutely nothing else. Sure, there’s the bloody handprint on the green jacket. It’s still in Dean’s closet because Dean can’t bring himself to wash it, and he can’t ask Sam to do it since that would require talking, so it just sits there, Cas’s blood dark and flaking. 

So yeah, Dean can guess that maybe it has something to do with Cas’s whole “I love you, goodbye” speech, but if you leave the world with that much to say, just to come back and give them the silent treatment? It’s fucked up. 

So Dean grunts in response to Sam’s question. What else is he gonna do?

Sam’s leg bounces with anxiety. “Do you think he’s okay?”

Dean’s lip curls. “I don’t give a flying fuck if he’s okay or not. I’m going to kill him.”
