Granby: Okay so I'm cheating a little there since this isn't canon but I love to imagine him with the Nepali earring he wears in my Disreputable Husbands AU. He's such a dumbass and that earring is ridiculous and far too expensive for him to show off in dangerous places, and Tharkay pretends he hates it even though he finds him just the tiniest bit hot with it on.
Little: what I like to imagine Little wearing is most probably not what Little would like to wear, let's be real. He's one of those guys I look at and go........ you deserve to be wearing heels......... and he goes what the fuck no i don't. anyway here's an old unfinished sketch of rockstar AU Little in heels

Ferris: hear me out I think Ferris is very careful with his neckcloth. He takes great care to tie it correctly every morning and he forces himself to remember all the different knots he learned when he was a kid before joining the Corps. At first he only wants to please his captain but then he realises it actually matters to him and he hates going out without a neckcloth <3

Granby: my friend and I have this whole thing about baby Granby being an absolute fan of the HTTYD movies, and listen, I know it's obvious and cliché but come on he HAS to be.
Little: I like to think Little would like the wildest, most horrific, disgusting, terrifying, disturbing pieces of media to be ever created, and also root for the Bridgerton MCs all in one day. (John: lol do you realise this is full of smut? Augustine, deadpan: why the fuck do you think I watch it.)
@sere-allwehaveisnow and I have also established that this man is the ultimate Good Omens fan.
Ferris: definitely a sci fi nerd. Has read the entire Dune series. Gets too enthusiastic if someone starts to ask questions about it. Will rant for hours about Asimov. Knows all the Lovecraft lore by heart. Used to dream about studying at Miskatonic.

Granby: Gets secretly flustered every time Little calls him Jack.
Little: Is the youngest out of 8 siblings.

What is your opinion on the Light Fury, as in Toothless’ mate?
Ok, so I'll start by stating that I don't "hate" her. The Light Fury is a very wonderful addition to the HTTYD franchise (despite what I know a lot of fans would disagree with) and she brought a whole new species with her that I am very personally attached to.
However, everything about her was done wrong. This may get a little lengthy, so I've added the rest below the cut~
Let's start with the glaringly obvious issue: she was made solely to be romance fodder. Her being Toothless's mate isn't the issue here, what the issue is is that she was ONLY made to be Toothless's mate. She wasn't made for a story-driving purpose or to lift any characters, she was "made to be like a lioness luring Toothless back to the savanna" as it had been stated. Basically, she literally has no purpose other than to be arm candy for Toothless and that's where her character immediately started to go wrong. In story-telling, if you're only making a character to romance one of the main characters and that's literally their only purpose, then you've made a very flat character to kick things off and that's not good. If she was made to be more of a driving force for the story instead of a useless wedge in between what was supposed to be an inseparable bond between Toothless and Hiccup, then I think that would have given her character a MAJOR boost alone. However, she's just "The Toothless Girlfriend" and frankly nothing more and is never anything more than that, which is a crying shame because she's not allowed to be her own character, she's supposed to be the thing Toothless makes goo-goo eyes at.
Next up, her actual roles in the movie: aka, staring at Toothless most of the movie or flying away from Hiccup. That's...pretty much all she does in the movie. Her only defining time in the movie is when she saves Hiccup, a minute-long part in the entirety of The Hidden World movie. That is the most development we ever get of her. Anything else is just her being there to have Toothless drool and slobber all over or her taking off and leaving Toothless for dead at the mercy of the "scary humans" but they try to claim "it's true love". I'm not against her not liking humans, in fact, I think it's a good trait for her to have, but she needs to have more of a personality and role than that of a deer fleeing from a spooky noise it heard. We never get to see what she's like when she's on her own, we never get to see her have any real driving roles that's not the very-much-complained-about-already romance fodder, we never get to see ANY personality.
Lack of backstory is another issue. We never learn anything about her. She doesn't even get a name and no, it doesn't come across as "but she's a wild animal and her not getting a name leaves her untamed and natural!" it comes across as poor character development and lazy. How was she captured? Why was she outside of The Hidden World in the first place if this was the "perfect home" for dragons and while every other light fury is apparently down there? Why couldn't we see any scenes of her and Grimmel alone when we could have either seen how he took her to Berk or a very satisfying scene of her maybe kicking his ass? (If she was so dead set on trying to kill Hiccup, why not on trying to kill the actual human who had actually hurt her many times already? Oh right, because boyfriend needs her or something I guess). Any kind of backstory, no matter how brief would have also been a huge boost to her character.
Then there's Homecoming, but literally nothing was done right with this short, so I'll just leave it at that.
As for good points, I really do like her design despite what most fans say. No, she doesn't need to be "bigger" than Toothless because light furies aren't as big as night furies. (I've heard the whole "but female reptiles are usually bigger than males!" argument, but people remember that she is not a night fury. She's a completely different species.) Yes, I like her nubbyness and sparkles. I know it's overly girly, but I'm really diggin' it because not every dragon has to look like a badass death machine. Also, her cloaking ability is super cool. This is only ruined when they decided that Toothless had to be special snowflake and have that for his ability too, which will never make sense to me. Also, she is not a bitch for disliking humans, including Hiccup. She's a wild animal. This, once again, is only ruined for a single factor, and that being that it's almost half of her entire personality with the other half being "The Girlfriend".
So in conclusion, I don't hate her-hate her, but she's the weakest character in the entire series and that's stupid seeing as how she was supposed to be the thing people fall in love with so Toothless ditching Hiccup wouldn't feel as shitty, but they failed at that miserably.

Abe please gimme Harlow lore (I’ve seen snippets and am Intrigued)
The Harlow fans are getting FED tonight. (Idk how many of those there are, but there's at least you)
So just so y'all know I've got the basics of the series all planned out, but ive only got the first book written (draft 2 is almost finished). A lot of things I say here may contradict with things ive said in the past or will contradict with things I say in the future. Anyway let's go.
The main setting of the books is The Alavenik Archipelago, a small group of islands who's culture is inspired by (but not super directly) Norse (and a little Celtic) aesthetics. Of course most of the stories take place in the main character, Harlow's, home island of Drakenvel (the southernmost island in the archipelago.) The other islands are called Njotidan, Yfgusti, Krowethia, Nihdrikah, and The UnNamed Island. The islands are home to mostly humans, deer, birds, fox, rabbits, wolves, and oh yeah dragons. There's dragons in my Nordic inspired fantasy books don't look into that too much. (I'm a huge fan of httyd and skyrim what can I say?) The culture around how the Alavenikians treat dragons is basically just they avoid them like the plague. The dragons have human intelligence but they don't speak the same language. Our main character, luckily, is autism and thinks it's weird to not try and befriend the creature of equal intelligence that live in their home. This obviously gets her into trouble.
Drakenvel Island is very small. It's got cliffs all along the western shore, and forests covering most of the island (minus where the village is). The archipelago's islands trade with eachother regularly, and the Drakenvellians have mostly livestock and crops to offer. Their land is good for farming, with the main farm being owned by the Freyrson family (Wintergrow Freyrson is the head farmer. She's not super important to the story but her oldest kid is, just wait).
Another important thing to note about Drakenvel is that epithets are important to them. Almost all of the Drakenvellians go by an epithet/nickname of some sort. It can change later in life but typically it doesn't. The exception to this is the chief and his heir, who go by their real names (aka Harlow and her dad. I didn't bother giving him a name tho ngl). Like Harlow's best friend Tiger, who's real name is Björn. Or his dad, Inkwell, who's real name is also Björn. (Also until very recently in Drakenvel history, all the families had patriarchal last names. But slowly they've been transitioning to just having last names. Some of them have previous family members' epithets as last names, such as the Stormrages and Crowthornes, and some of them kept the patriarchal last name they had when making the change, for example the Freyrsons. Inkwell and Tiger's family hadn't made that change yet, but they basically decided they were going to stick with Björnson, since the past three generations have had that name. Hence Tiger's unfortunate full name being Björn Björnson the Second)
The chief is in charge of the village, but there is a council. This council consists of: Chief Stormrage, Wintergrow Freyrson, Inkwell Björnson (who owns the library), Halvor (the children's training leader, more on that later), Spiderweb and Bloodfell Crowthorne (more on them later. Hate them, tho.), and of course, Harlow. (Cause why wouldnt you have a 12 year old on your council.)
Real quick wanna mention Harlow and Tiger's mothers, Harlow's mother (who doesn't have a name yet I'm working on it) and Bullseye Björnson where adventurers who went missing when Harlow was four and Tiger was two. Harlow was basically raised by her mother's mother, and Tiger was raised by Inkwell (who is the best dad ever btw take notes y'all I love him)
Now I mentioned earlier that the kids have training. So on that: Drakenvel is a mostly peaceful village. But after Halvor first showed up from Yfgusti (a not very peaceful village), he suggested that they start a training program for the youth to learn to fight in the odd chance that they do go to war, just like they had on Yfgusti. The chief wasn't sure, but his wife thought it was a good idea so he agreed to it. From ages 10-18 the kids train in swordfighting, archery, wilderness survival, hunting, etc. They do that a few times a week. Harlow is great at it. Tiger is not. It makes for fun dynamics idk
Okay okay enough of Harlow and Tiger (never) what of the other kids? So glad you asked! There's four other kids in training. Catface Freyrson, Darkwind and Burnchaser Fjordson, and of course, my boy, my main man, the motherfucker himself: Careless Crowthorne. Careless is constantly described as an expert archer. I really like archery so I talk about him and his archery a LOT in the books ngl. Careless and Cateface have a history similar to Harlow and Tiger, extremely loyal childhood best friends, but as circumstances changed Careless and he became a jerk, that rubbed off on Catface (and Darkwind and Burnchaser) and in the words of Catface himself, they "became less friends and more 'the bully and kids who followed because they didn't want to be a victim'". Unfortunately, even after Careless had his half-assed redemption (it gets better in later books but his initial redemption was so bad even Harlow talks about it, he really just wanted to clear his own conscious) the rest of the boys we're still assholes.

oh btw Harlow's dad doesn't like Tiger. This bitch has beef with a 10 year old fuck OFF i hate him.
Wait, hold on, aren't there some more important main characters in this... Hmmm... I talk about this all the time who am I forgetting... ah yes.
Daliah. (And another I'll get to next just wait, Cloudstorm fans)
Daliah of Krowethia. A mysterious girl who just showed up on Drakenvel one day. She's secretive, but doesn't really try to be. She just never talks about herself, and everyone else assumes she doesn't want to talk about her past. Anyway, they find out later she mysteriously showed up on the docks of Krowethia as a child, not remembering anything, and being taken in by the owner of a boarding house, a woman named Meilani. More of her another day. But Daliah had an urge to see the rest of the archipelago, and taught herself how to sail, and survival skills, and she went island to island, enjoying the landscapes (and avoiding dragons, which she was deathly afraid of)
Oh yeah there's one more member of their little gang. Another outsider from another land. A little dragon, an Amber-Winged Wyvern by the name of Cloudstorm. Harlow is obsessed with Amber-Winged Wyverns. In the same way someone who will never see their favorite animal IRL would be. Seeing an artic dwelling dragon is an unattainable dream for poor Harlow (me too girlie when do I get to see a caribou just out in the wild. Except her seeing an animal native to the artic is more likely than me seeing a Caribou so damn I guess.) She's only seen illustrations. But yeah then she finds on on her island???? The fuck??? (When will a Caribou show up in the Southern USA come on man. Sorry I got distracted. Anyway.) She talks to the dragon (because of fuckin course she does) and desperately wants to befriend him. Cloudstorm wants nothing to do with this weird kid. The rest of the gang wants nothing to do with this dragon.
More dragons come into the story later, but the first book is very much about the main group becoming, well, a group.
Also the dynamics between Harlow and the other main characters are so fun to me. Harlow and Careless and both headstrong leader types, but Harlow more boisterous, and Careless is more idk menacing is the only word I can think of. Harlow and Daliah are both adventure seekers, but Daliah is a play it safe survivalist, and Harlow is way more spontaneous. Then Harlow and Tiger are almost complete opposites. With Harlow being the boisterous, headstrong, adventurous, spontaneous leader, Tiger is a shy, weak, careful pushover and follower. Yet they're somehow best friends. Harlow and Cloudstorm are basically the same which makes their dynamic so funny. He treats her like she treats her own authority figures. (Not that Harlow is Cloudstorm's authority figure that was just the comparison I had)

if you ever watch the httyd franchise, what are your thoughts on the third film. To be hoinest, that third film was awful because they lose their dragons at the end. Now i knows they was being accurate with the books , but i wish they have kept their dragons instead of the dragons having to go into hiding. With Amphibia, the worlds not being connected work because the show theme was about growth and change whereas in the owl house luz get to stay in both the human and the magic world cause it.

To be honest, I haven't watched anything Dragons-related past the first movie, and I most likely never ever will, now that you've just told me how the saga ends.
Last time I saw anything Dragons-related, it was back when people criticized Light Fury's design for sexual dimorphism, though personally I didn't see anything off with her design; she's just Night Fury but recolored and still looks/behaves like a cat.

Plus, we all know that Sisu (from Raya and the Last Dragon) has the worst design for a dragon ever. Y'all were so unfairly mean to Light Fury.
Anyways, back to the actual ask, I strongly hate these types of endings where the MC is permanently separated from the magical and the fantastic, because as an adult, I am so tired of seeing the kids and the teenagers have all of the fun of going on a mystic quest while the adults are often sidelined.
And also because I grew up with Digimon Adventure, which it's precisely why I hated Amphibia's ending, because if the Digidestined were allowed to reunite with their partners on multiple occasions even after their childhood years, then Anne should at least be allowed to catch up with the Plantar Family, Sasha with Capt. Grime, and Marcy with Olivia and Yunnan.
These types of endings, in my opinion, kinda feel like it's telling me that magic and whimsy are things exclusively for children, and that adults aren't allowed to have fun with it and/or contribute to change with their amazing gifts.
The Owl House pretty much subverts this, in how Luz has never left the Boiling Isles and has even sacrificed her quinceañera to help its inhabitants to rebuild their home. The magic itself and Luz's charismatic weirdness never were the problem; all that she needed was to realize her responsibilities and adapt to bend the rules. Not to mention how the ending was equally satisfying, but open enough for fans to continue it as they so desire (because Disney sure as hell won't do it!)
Resuming, do you have any idea of how many adults would sacrifice their boring lives on Earth for the sake of thrills and excitement somewhere else? As long as I had ways to return back here (because I love my family and friends too much), I'd totally start a new life in another world and study its magic system and culture there!
If there are any otherworldly beings looking for a new member for their guild/party/family, hit me up accordingly so I can start packing my bags! I'm cute and eager to learn!

Gift of the Night Fury Appreciation!
March of Dragons ‘21 Prompt: Drop a happy rant about an episode, scene, character etc. that you love (Mar. 16-18).
The first thing that popped into my head when I read the prompt was Gift of the Night Fury! It’s been here since almost the beginning, but I feel like it sort of gets buried under all the (still good!) newer content. GOTNF is my favorite HTTYD short ever. In my opinion, it captures everything that made me love HTTYD to begin with: Hiccup and Toothless’ friendship, Hiccstrid, everyone on Berk coming to know and love dragons. It also fits into canon very well! Oh and let’s not forget that it literally foreshadows HTTYD3 with Hiccup creating a tail for Toothless to wear and fly on his own.
I like how GOTNF shows everyone on Berk learning and adjusting to dragons and I absolutely love that someone (probably Hiccup TBH) told Fishlegs that Meatlug was a boy and the twins had to explain to him why she was laying eggs. Also, I love Astrid with her Snoggletog traditions. I feel like GOTNF is one of the few times we get to see Astrid’s full personality. She’s always up for a battle and she’s definitely tough but she can also screw up and be just as much of a dork as Hiccup. I’d kill to see a raw, uncut version of their household after they have children, haha. Oh, and Hiccup making the tail for Toothless while pretending to like Astrid’s yaknog is priceless.
Also, the way Hiccup wants what’s best for Toothless but has a hard time coping when Toothless actually flies away is so parallel to HTTYD3. As much as I enjoy the fun shorts like Dawn of the Dragon Racers and the humor in some of RTTE, GOTNF just fucks me over in a whole different way. I think part of it is nostalgia and part of it is just that it captures what I love about the franchise and the characters perfectly. It’s not trying too hard or trying to add a bunch of new characters (absolutely no hate to fans who love all the new characters in RTTE/ROB/DOB! I personally had a couple I liked as well but for the most part they just didn’t click with me for some reason). It just exists and does a great job rounding out/building on the characters and relationships that I loved from the first movie.
Oh and let’s talk about that Hiccstrid kiss at the end! Absolutely adorable. I like older Hiccstrid and I love some good mature Hiccstrid smut interactions but there’s something just so heartwarming and sweet about 15-year-old Hiccstrid having innocent crushes on each other. Too cute!
Anyway, love GOTNF! I watch it every Christmas to celebrate; it’s become one of my go-to holiday specials and is probably my favorite!

1. take a WILD guess. lmao mal obvs. beyond just my obvious bias, i do think she's a very layered and developed character and i loved watching her grow from one movie to the next. it's very captivating to see how she deals with her internalized self hatred and the expectations put on to her by her mother and later by all of auradon, and im sure dove pulls from her real life experiences when it comes to that. i also just take a liking to doves more snarky, badass roles (ie. maddie, ruby hale, etc.) 2. dude lol. listen i have had a weakness for talking dogs since i was born and while most of the fandom hated that he started talking i was all for it, especially since it was bobby moynihan who voiced him. granted he doesnt serve all that big of a purpose in the movies but he gets placed this high up simply bc talking dog + descendants = pandering to me. 3. carlos! he's just such a good friend and team player and so sweet. the more ive rewatched the movies, the more ive noticed little moments where he checks in on the other vks or compliments them. im doing my best to not factor in my opinions on the actors irl TOO much but cameron was the cast member i was closest to/got to know the best besides dove so i cant help but think of that when i watch carlos. dove i ofc sought out but cameron more sought ME out just bc of how friendly and giving he was to everyone. ill always cherish that. 4. evie! also a great friend and team player, especially in d3 where she's trying so hard to get everyone to get along. on the surface, she seems so put together and graceful but there are cracks in her shell as we notice in d2 when she's so scared to go back to the isle, and knowing how hard she tries to cover that up makes it all the more heartbreaking. im also a big malvie shipper so theres that, i love how she compliments mal. grumpy girl/bubbly girl is like my FAVORITE trope so naturally i love them together and as individuals. 5. ben! i think i said this last year but much like how everyone in gcwca is a descendants stan as you said, i think everyone is a ben stan too lol. he's just a sweet little puppy dog, i especially love how naive he is when he first gets to the isle. i also love bal and much like evie i think he's a great compliment to mal, but he's a great compliment to everyone honestly! as a good king should be.

Given that I only learned about the existence of fandom as a concept in late 2016, the longest I’ve ever been in a fandom is roughly 4,5 years.
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?
Many! Currently it’s Hiccstrid and Hicretstrid. And maybe a little Zelink. But thinking back, I think my very first OTP was when I was around five years old. From the Captain Tsubasa anime series, Tsubasa and... I don’t even know her name... 🤣 There was this girl who always cheered him on and was his no.1 fan. ANd in hindsight, I think I also shipped Tsubasa... with nearly all other players, mainly, Taro Misaki, Jun Misugi, and Kojiro Hyuga. 🤣
H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?
TV-shows, mostly. I prefer the visuals over books and I prefer the slower development over those in movies.
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
Not caused me to stop liking them. But in some cases (ATLA and TDP, to name two) it raised my expectations so high that, when I finally got to dip into them, I was rather underwhelmed. It also didn’t help that I already knew the ending and some major plot points. If there’s one sure way to dampen my excitement it’s spoilers.
J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)
Supernatural. Pretty much all other fandoms I dip into occasionally, I knew at least a little before. But literally everything I know about Supernatural is from seeing posts here. 🤣
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
I can’t think of an individual character right now, but in general an arc I like is someone (re-)learning to trust.
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
Snotlout has a great relationship with his dragon. Valka, too. Gobber and the twins are always fun, in their own ways.
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.

Hmm... First, I wanted to say Astrid. And I'd enjoy having her as a friend, as someone to challenges me to be more active, to work on my skills and someone to talk.
But I think, I'd enjoy being friends with Hiccup, too. I'd like to brainstorm ideas, ponder over inventions and exchange ideas. Geek out about dragons!

Acceptance, respect, and some common sense. But that’s not just fandom...

My very long list of favoured songs randomly gave me 9 Crimes by Damien Rice. There once was an absolutly stunning AMV with this song about the TV-show The Legend Of The Seeker, The Sword Of Truth (based on the books by Terry Goodkind). I was deeply in love with Richard’s and Kahlan’s relationship, and with Cara on a general level. That AMV featured them all, and I loved it!
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
Oh, oh, oh, oh! I just thought about this modern meet-cute AU for Hiccstrid a few days back, might as well write it down here. (And will also copy it over into an individual post, I think...)
Hiccup is a single father of a three-years-old daughter. One day, he meets Astrid in a supermarket; she’s in front of him at the check-out and when he hears her voice, he’s stunned. Because he knows her voice, hears it every day. Because she lend her voice to one of these talking toys for toddlers.His daughter’s favourite toy.
Hiccup always liked that toy best, too, because it didn’t sound as annoying as most others. Pleasant even. When he sees and hears Astrid, he recognises her voice in an instant. He jokingly thanks her for making his days more bearable. She’s confused, who is this weirdo? So he tries to explain. “The toy. My daughter’s toy. It’s your voice. A pleasant voice. I listen to it every day.” He keeps getting weirder, stammers, turns red like a tomato, until he eventually just flees, wishing a hole would open up to swallow him, that was so embarrassing.
Meanwhile, Astrid is touched. Knowing that there is at least one little girl who likes the toy she helped create. And her father, apparently. Who had been cute. In how shy he’d been. And how excited. She’s sorry he left before she was able to talk to him and thank him.
Over the next days, Hiccup would think of her a lot. Every time he hears her voice again, he’d think of her. Her face. Her smile. Until they, eventually, meet again... ^^
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.

None, really. There are several fandoms I grew out of, like Sailor Moon or Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. But I wouldn't say I abandoned them. I still enjoy seeing content about them.
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
Those of the rider with their dragons. Hiccup&Toothless. Astrid&Stormfly.
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)
Pretty much all of my headcanons are about Hiccstrid in one way or combination. One of my personal favourites is that Astrid has a tiny birthmark on the back of her neck. She doesn’t even know it’s there, she can’t see it and it’s almost always covered by her hair anyway. But Hiccup knows it’s there. And he loves to place a kiss on it. It tickles and would always make her giggle. And she smells so nice.
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
*snorts* No. If there are people who don’t share my headcanons, then... they don’t have to? I can live and be friends with people regardless of whether we share the same headcanons or not. And if people keep attacking me for mine, I’ll just block them and walk away. Arguing about something like that is not worth my time.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

Same answer as the above, mostly. I think I already wrote a long answer to a similar question once. 🤔 I relate to Astrid in many ways. Loyal and reliable, not always easy to approach, often prefers to deal with her problems on her own instead of asking for help.
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
Anything jealously, especially it being portrayed as a sign of love or dedication. But also love triangles. Unnecessary.
Another thing I don’t like is when there’s a misunderstanding and they argue about it and get angry and yell and have a huge falling-out... when it all just boils down to them not listening.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.

My HTTYD Books Fanfic Ideas
Greetings, my fellow Dragonmarkers! I just wanted to post this for you guys as I tell you what my plans are in regards to fanfics for the HTTYD Book Fandom.
Besides my “A Birthday to Remember” short story which is still in-progress, and the odd one-shot, here are some projects that I’d like to do for 2020-2022:
Companions of the Dragonmark — Platonic Pairings Series

This work, as you already know from a previous post, focuses on platonic pairings in this series. There will be various types, such as human/dragon, human/weapon, human/human, human/pet, etc. Also includes friends, family, mentor/student, and stranger relationships. This will be the main series I will be working on after “A Birthday to Remember”.

Antagonistic Pairings Series

This work is something that I’ve just recently came up with, which focuses on antagonistic pairings. This can be pairings between hero/villain, villain/villain, villain/antagonist, hero/antagonist, antagonist/antagonist, etc. Pairings can include, Hiccup and Alvin, Snotlout and Thuggory, Alvin and Excellinor, UG the Uglithug and Excellinor, Madguts and Big Bertha, Snotlout and Hiccup, etc.
I’m liking this because nobody really writes fanfics that focuses on antagonistic pairings. Only romantic and platonic pairings.

Wilderwest Whumpfest

Granted, I don’t plan on doing it for this Fandom, but I do plan on still doing this work — a collection of one-shots focusing on whumping various characters in the series. I’d LOVE to hear what you’d like to see and if this sounds like a great idea. ^_^

A Tale of Two Swords

This idea has been stewing in the back of mind for about a year now. This is basically a story told from the perspective of Endeavor, the Dragonsword, as he narrates the story and tells us how he came to be and we’ll see his thoughts and perspective not only throughout the lives of Hiccup the First and his line, but also Grimbeard the Ghastly, Hiccup the Second, and Hiccup the Third, and following up all up into the finale of Book 12. Essentially, this IS a Saga. Somewhere along the way, the Stormblade will be introduced and we’ll get into his POV as well once he is born. needless to say that there’ll be a rivalry between the two — though Endeavor just doesn’t care and ignores Stormblade whenever possible. I mean, the Dragonsword is around 1000 years old already, and the Stormblade is acting all macho for a newborn hunk of shiny metal. In Endeavor’s “eyes”, Stormblade be an infant. lol XD
Also, I just REALLY love Endeavor. (I have an old post that talks all about that here.) One of my favorite characters in the series, despite it being a sword and not a human or an animal character. But I can feel him humming with personality... if that makes sense? But I’ve always had a special love for personification. Ever since I was young and studied literature in middle school, personification has always been my most favorite plot device. I can’t really explain why. Maybe it’s because it’s fun? Getting into the minds of inanimate objects, animals, nature, etc and imagining what they would say and act and feel if they could speak and communicate? It’s fun for ME, at least. ^_^

Exile on Cannibal Isle

This story idea is another one that’s been stewing in my brain for about a year or less, give or take. (I’m quite proud of the title, if I do say so myself. Hehe.) This is basically a what-if scenario, a canon divergence, that focuses on what would happen should Hiccup and the others were exiled the night that they should’ve been. That would’ve been interesting to see. I mean, of course, it would mean that 800+ Hooligans and Meatheads would perish, but such is the life of a Saga character(s). ^_^
Other alternative (and more likely) scenarios could be:
1) Hiccup, Thuggory, and the others still get banished after the demise of the Green Death (because Vikings are jerks).
or 2) Hiccup fails to get Toothless in time so he ends up being the only one in his group to NOT have a dragon, and thus is immediately exiled (in winter, yay).
(If you guys can come up with better scenarios, let me know.)
Now, Cannibal Isle is on the map on the Book of Dragons extra book. You won’t find it anywhere else. (That being said, the Isle DOES get mentioned by Hiccup in the epilogue of Book 4: “How to Cheat a Dragon’s Curse”. Only other time.)

Now in Book 1, while they mention that the kids will be exiled on the Mainland, it mentions cannibals. Of course, in Book 8, it mentions that the Vikings of the Western Archipelago hate sailing anywhere near the Eastern side (the Mainland), so it seems contradictory, in my opinion, for them to send the kids there into exile. So when I saw this map, and saw that there was an island called “Cannibal Isle”, it made sense to me. A place where cannibals exist, and it’s close by from the Inner Isles.
What do you think? Should they be exiled on Cannibal Isle or on the Mainland? Which sounds better?

Thuggory’s Tale

This story idea is yet another one that I’ve been thinking on doing for awhile now. This essentially is Thuggory’s story, and focuses on HIS POV throughout the 12 books — including and especially his views and thoughts concerning Hiccup. I mean, the guy DESERVES to have a book that’s all about HIM, right?! He’s so cool! I’m such a Thuggory fan! I wish I had a brother like him. I envy Hiccup. lol ^_^
The bromance is strong with this one. lol XD

Quest for Wilderwest — Quest for Camelot AU

This work, as you already know on a previous post, will be a Quest for Camelot AU involving the HTTYD Book characters. Since I’ve already gotten a lot of feedback on this already, I might end up doing this story first as my first multi-chapter story. But we’ll see. ;-)

Fishlegs’s Impossible Quest 2

This work I just thought up about a month ago. This is what the title says. Fishlegs SECOND Quest! This time, trying to win Barbara’s hand in marriage — much to Hiccup’s ire. (What is with this guy and these Valkyrie princesses?) I’m debating whether Hiccup should tag along, or if he should stay since he IS the KING. Maybe give Fishlegs Camicazi, instead? Along with some warriors from his Tribe, of course. Him being a Chief and all that. Needless to say, Hiccup and Camicazi will NEEEEVER let Fishlegs live this one down, regardless if he succeeds or not.
Speaking of which, SHOULD I have Fishlegs succeed? Or should I let him fail... again? I mean, would Barbara even be interested in a guy who’s allergic to her CAT?!

The Wilderwest Saga

The title is what it says it is. It’s about the story AFTER the series, that focuses on the reign of King Hiccup the Third and co. and how the Wilderwest came to be, what Hiccup did during his life, his future wife and family, etc. It’ll also focus on the other characters and their lives as well. I’m very excited about this one as well. And I’m sure you are, too.
Maybe I’ll get lucky one day and Cressida Cowell will read it and be like, “Oh, what a great idea! I’ll write a sequel series focusing on Hiccup the Third’s reign and finally bring a conclusion to Hiccazi.” 
I mean, it’s wishful thinking, but a guy can dream, can’t he? lol XD

This work will be a Saga focusing on Hiccup the First and his story, from his birth, to the events of the First Dragon War, to him being the First King and the details of his reign, of his conflict against the Romans and the Uglithugs — essentially filling out the blanks in the life of one extraordinary character that most resembles Hiccup the Third.
Hiccup the Second’s Saga

This work will be focusing on Hiccup the Second’s story, and will be the sequel of Grimbeard’s Saga (or Hiccup the First’s Saga). It will focus on his life with the dragons, his reunion with his father, his life at the palace, his adventures, his conflicts with his father and eldest brother... his death (which, even in a saga, was messed up).
Oh, aaaaand I might have him find love as well. Hehe. Because the books never specify how old he was when he died. And if he was a rebel and went to the library, spoke Dragonese, took the Dragonmark, freed the slaves multiple times, I have a feeling that Hiccup might’ve fallen in love with one of these slaves and married her in secret and had a child through her, whose line eventually led to the Druid Guardian.
So, yeah, this Saga’s gonna get messy... and juicy. Hehe. ^_^

Hiccup the Third’s Saga
This work will be a more realistic version of the HTTYD Book series — similar to what you’d see in a Viking Saga, like those for the other two Hiccups. However, this does not mean that the plot will be seriously changed. It just means that I’ll be getting rid of some of the more... exaggerated and absurd parts of the plot that wouldn’t happen in real life. I’ll also be getting rid of the horned helmets and make the Tribes more Viking-y. And I’ll be adding more historical elements into the story, along with those of the previous two Hiccups.
I’m debating whether to get rid of the Dragonese/talking dragons element to the story (having it like the movie franchise), or if I should keep it. What do you think?
Termagant’s Tale
This work will be a story focusing on Fishlegs’s mother, Termagant. How she grew up, how she lived, how she met and fell in love with Alvin the Fake Fisherman, how she felt when he disappeared and how she gave birth... and how she was forced to get rid of her baby. Every single thing. I’m not sure whether to do this from Termagant’s POV, or if I should do it through the eyes of Arrogance, Patience, and Innocence, her Deadly Shadow, and have it be as if they’re telling Fishlegs the tale of his mother from their eyes.

Grimbeard the Ghastly’s Saga
This work will be focusing on the life of Grimbeard the Ghastly, from his birth to his death. Every detail will be noted, every story shall be heard, and every scene shall be seen. Even the stories of him that you DO know won’t tell you everything. This Saga will further detail and add on to those stories. Including his marriage to Chinhilda, his war against the Uglithugs, his raiding expeditions, his reign as King, his questionable and outright foolish decisions — the whole shebang!
Disclaimer: While I will try my very best, it is most likely that he won’t be such a nice and relatable character to like.
Modern AU series
This work will a collection of one-shots focusing on the HTTYD Book characters in the modern day. The reason why I have this here, rather than farther up, is because I don’t have many ideas for one-shots in this AU. So I would appreciate any prompts and character choices to help me in this, and maybe I might just get working on this if I end up getting enough.

Anyway, these are the projects that I hope to do in the next couple of years. (If I’m still alive by then, that is.) These stories will probably take time and I’ll probably be focusing on the top 3 since they’ll be one-shots, basically, so they’ll be easier for me to write. But I will be choosing a multi-chapter story idea and working on it.
While I won’t be working on these quite as much since I have other accounts and other Fandoms that I place higher priorities on, I will be working on these as much as I can, despite my schedule. This Fandom holds a special place in my heart and I want to contribute as much as I can so that fans can continue reading recent fanfics for this precious Fandom. ^_^

So, I was watching some YouTube videos on Peter Parker, and I noticed a comment:

This got me thinking (and yes, Tuffnut is the best), what if there was a crossover like that?

Now, a few days later (aka today) I was watching a HTTYD video and noting the similarities between Hiccup and Peter, and I realised that I’d already made a comparison before. Percy Jackson and Hiccup.

And then I thought ‘what if there was a crossover in some way between these guys?’
I mean, if you think about it, Percy and Hiccup have a similar sort of shade of eye colour (in a way) and Hiccup and Peter (we’re focusing on Tom Holland’s version here if you didn’t realise) have a similar sort of hairstyle and hair colour (again, in a way).
So, I started thinking ‘what if they’re brothers?’
Now, at this point, you probably think I’m crazy, but hear me out. Peter Parker and Hiccup aren’t actually kids of their respective fathers (this is going into fanfic storyline mode but keep reading). They’re both sons of Poseidon. To be clearer, they’re the other two of the Jackson Triplets (really getting into fanfic mode here :D). And if you’re wondering, ‘then why don’t they have the powers of Poseidon like Percy?’, well, I have a theory for that too :D
Let’s start off with Hiccup. My theory is that he’s a time traveller, sent back to the Viking times when he was a baby because it wasn’t safe for him to be in his time period. Say if Hiccup and Peter were born about 10 minutes after Percy, then it would be so that since there was the prophecy and stuff, only one of the trio could be utilised by Kronos if that time came. So if Percy was born first, that would ultimately make him 16 first, and therefore the first possible dangerous prophecy child. Since we know that in the end he is the prophecy child, this kinda makes sense.
Because of the time travel stuff, Hiccup loses the ability to use the powers he inherits as a son of Poseidon, and he isn’t able to use them at all, and would live out his life as a normal Viking would. This sort of explains why we have the sudden growth spurt between HTTYD 1 and HTTYD 2. Yes, I know there’s a five year gap, but no normal human being grows an entire foot in the course of five years. Speaking of the growth spurt, if you search into Google for Hiccup’s height, you’ll find out that in the first movie, he’s approximately 5’1, and in the second movie, he ends up at 6’1. That a ridiculously huge growth spurt, and none of the other characters have such a sudden growth spurt (they all grow a few inches I guess, that’s pretty much it). The only plausible explanation is some sort of special power, or perhaps god genes? As we know from Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods, Apollo and Artemis grow to average adult age in DAYS, and if their kids (not that Artemis has kids) have their genes, then it would make sense for such a growth in such a short time.
Now to explain Peter Parker. You see, in the movies, they never mention how often Aunt May and Uncle Ben saw Peter before his parents passed. Most people assume that they saw each other on a day to day basis (I think), but that doesn’t nessecarily have to be the case, as we’ve seen with other people in the past (*cough* dursleys *cough cough*) and in general, it’s not that often that people visit nieces and nephews or vice versa. Sure, they probably knew he existed, but we don’t know when they found out he existed. At this point, you must be questioning ‘But if they adopted him why wouldn’t they tell them?’
See, this is where truth and lies come in. Peter’s supposed parents could’ve easily lied to Ben and May. Or even better, we know that there is magic in the PJO universe. Gods can easily use the Mist or modify their memories to make it seem like Peter was their son, hiding the weird stuff that he does like his brother, Percy, does. I have a slightly darker theory if we were to go to the lying to Ben and May option.
Say if Peter’s supposed mum (I’m British sorry) was actually pregnant. In the last few weeks, she goes into labour way too early and a miscarriage happens. Of course, the parents are depressed. Losing a child isn’t easy, especially your first child. They find out from the doctors that a baby that sorta has their features was left at the hospital last night, and he seems to be a little premature, and that maybe they could adopt the little guy. They don’t want Ben and May to know, so they lie and say that he’s just a bit premature and that he’s their son (like I said, dark).
Then the whole car crash incident happens and Peter is left with his supposed Aunt and Uncle, who he’s kinda close to. They’re the only family he has left as well, and they happily take him in. Peter doesn’t understand the weird stuff that happens to him, and nobody understands when he tells them about it. 14 year old Peter Parker lives this confused life, not knowing that one of his triplet brothers only lives a few towns away from him (idk if this is right. Like I said, I’m British, and I have no clue how far Manhattan is from Queens). Then one day, he gets bitten by a radioactive spider. Suddenly, he can’t seem to talk to sea animals anymore, he doesn’t have strange water powers. Instead, he can climb walls, has increased strength and he can shoot webs. He’s now a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
You might be wondering, ‘if that’s the case, why don’t they ever mention this Spider-Man in the PJO books?’
Well, (here we go again) I have an explanation. Percy just is never there when the headlines are blaring about Spider-Man. He’s at camp and going through multiple schools. He’s too busy to notice stuff about a guy who can shoot webs and climb walls. And his best friend (soon to be girlfriend 😏) hates spiders (the whole Athena and Arachne stuff). She won’t be wanting to know about a guy who has the powers of a spider. And the camp won’t mention that sort of stuff because A) they probably don’t have access to daily news channels from Queens, and B) this is a camp where the Athena cabin are a valued part of the camp. They (sorta) have some respect, and probably don’t have the guts to mention someone that meant to have spider powers where any Athena child could hear them. And at this camp, word travels fast (*cough* Minotaur *cough cough*).
Gosh, I’ve been ranting for a while. Anyways, there’s my (fan) theory on how Peter Parker, Hiccup Haddock and Percy Jackson are related, feel free to add on as you wish, and thank you for coming to my Ted Talk :D. Bye!

I’m so sorry, I went through half this post before realizing you only meant the HTTYD fandom, but it felt like such a waste to delete everything, so just ignore all the non-HTTYD stuff.
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
Okay, here are a list of ships that I do not get, as in I don’t necessarily hate them, but I can’t bring myself to ship them:
Harmione, Kataang, Zutara, Merricup, Jelsa, Barchie, Jlaire, Rayllum, Jason /Janet (is there even a ship name for them), and Lingfan.
There’s no OTP in the HTTYD fandom that I don’t like that is popular. Hiccstrid really is the only big pairing in the fandom, and I like Hiccstrid, so...
2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
Basically see above? Every single ship on that last is a couple whose non romantic relationship I thrive for. 
But in a general sense, nearly all my ships. I like writing people being friends more than I like writing them being in a romantic relationship. I like writing Hiccup and Astrid being friends with each other - even when they’re a couple, they’re friends who kiss every now and then. SO, every ship technically. 
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?
I do not care for Rufflout or Dagla or Heathlegs but I don’t consider them popular OTPs. 
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
Zutara, Harmione (these two are gonna be recycled a lot, pfft). Hiccstrid to a certain point, the love square in MLB, Jake and Amy? Kinda?
7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
REGINA MILLS. There’s probably others but I cannot stand Regina Mills, holy crap. She is everything I hate. Her character and fan following boggle my mind so much. The woman is terrible and the writers’ love for her screwed over every other character. That being said, I love Lana Parilla.
There’s also two meanings to “dislike” in this sense. Characters like Regina are ones that I dislike but ultimately am still entertained by. Cheryl Blossom and Severus Snape fall under that category too. But I could also dislike a character simply because they’re boring, like Nini from HSMTMTS or Elena from TVD (but I’ve only watched one episode of TVD so don’t come for me there).
For HTTYD I dislike RTTE Hiccup, RTTE Tuffnut, Grimmel and Dagur to a certain point. 
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
Regina’s redemption arc because she never regretted anything and constantly blamed everyone else and never did anything to atone and literally separated the evil from herself as though the evil part of her was someone else and not just her. Like, she was not possessed, she was not controlled, she may have been manipulated by Rumple, but her evil actions were entirely her own.
I also dislike Dagur’s redemption arc honestly? He never was shown to be changing, he just did a complete flip out of love for Heather and didn’t really have to go through any work for it, so it doesn’t feel satisfying.
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
Already vocalized, but some people hold HTTYD up on a pedestal and ignore its flaws. Its villains are racist and antisemitic and the writing is sexist (yes, even the movies, describing astrid in a “sexy ball of fire” is weird). 
15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?
Which opinion do I have about RTTE that isn’t unpopular, pfft. Let’s see if there’s any I haven’t talked about yet...
The timing of the show was so weird? It’s supposed to take place when Hiccup is nineteen, so one year before HTTYD2 at least, and yet it’s kind of impossible that everything happened within a year. Specifically in Shellshocked (I think), Astrid mentions that Hiccup has been working on a plan for months, months that we did not see that happened between episodes. The writers also seriously wrote the show as though they had not seen HTTYD2, and while Mala and Atali and Minden are cool characters that I appreciate, BERK SHOULD BE THE ONLY ISLAND THAT HAS MADE PEACE WITH DRAGONS. As for being “canon,” it depends on what you define as canon. 
16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?
Have Hiccstrid be in a relationship already. Give Dagur a proper redemption arc. Snotlout and Astrid are bisexual. Hiccup changes outfits so that he starts wearing armor closer to his HTTYD2 outfit. More time spent on Berk. Less of a “gotta catch em all” feel. More villages introduced. Heather is a proper grey character. 
17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
Instead of the dragons leaving, I would have had them stay and beat the odds and gotten an optimistic ending instead of a pessimistic one.
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
I’m not on Tumblr as much anymore, but I wish that there were more discussion posts like there were around HTTYD2/early RTTE times. I know it’s hard to discuss theories and stuff when the franchise is over, but I miss analyses and discussion and that kind of fun.

It's going to be 2020,but my childhood is still not completed with the httyd franchise ending this way.....
Hey guys, this is my first ever post on tumblr. I downloaded this for one specific reason, and it's for httyd.
I've just finish watching the whole Httyd franchise before the year 2020,and I've gotta say, I won't be having the best year next year, knowing how my childhood franchise had ended. Like I said in my description, I've just recently entered the fandom of httyd, but there are 2 main reasons why :
Well it's the one everyone should know, which is the ending of httyd 3. I mean the idea that Dean had for the film is good, the separation and everything. But I personally think he didn't set it up correctly. Everything that happened in the past films/specials/short films, all the relationships and friendships that were built through out the whole franchise felt like nothing in the third film. Especially with Toothless and Hiccup. Im really really sad that my favourite duo just separated, without really having the best goodbye and an actual good reason to be separated. I could do a whole rant about it, but it would be similar reasons with other posts that I've read. For example : The stupid villain Grimmel. He's just a weaker version of Drago, and he didn't do anything other then threatening Hiccup to give him Toothless. Then because of that the whole berk had to switch locations? Wtf was that. Besides that, Toothless just leaving hiccup, without even having the intentions to return to him, using the tail that he hated in GoTNF.... The third movie felt rushed and messy, I could see why it was delayed twice. It felt like Dean just wanted to end the franchise quickly and leave. Even tho it ended peacefully, with Hiccstrid and Toothless both getting married and everything, I don't think it's really a happy ending.
My second reason is Hiccstrid. I love them, their relationship just hits my heart differently from other relationships in cartoon animations. I'm happy that they've gotten married in httyd 3, thats one of the few things I loved about the film. But it's the fact that there's no more.... The amazing Hiccstrid moments that we had in Rob, DoB and especially RTTE has now ended, which is what I'm really really sad about. My only hope right now is that Dreamworks somehow allows their series in Netflix continue. Like maybe stories between the gap of httyd 2 and 3, or stories between the 10 year gap of when Hiccstrid got married and them having kids. Just showing more of clips of them dating and hanging out in their teen years is very enjoyable to watch. I've just been rewatching the episodes on rtte where they have the most interactions together.
That's the 2 main reasons why I'm really sad about the ending of the franchise.
But in general, I'm just sad that my favourite childhood franchise has ended. I've grew with this franchise and with the characters, seeing them for the last time is just really depressing. But I do have some ideas for DreamWorks to continue their franchise :
Like I said earlier, a continuation of the Dreamworks Dragons series on Netflix would be cool. Not only have stories between those years like I stated earlier, but DreamWorks could allow the writers to make their own storyline and have an alternative ending. I mean rtte did ended with some plot holes, and I could see ways for it to continue on its own. It is non canon with the films, so I could see the possibility of it happening. I'm not saying that the writers of rtte could anyhow make a better ending than Dean, but maybe the writers could give an ending that the fans actually want?
This is generally what I wanted to talk about, I think I'll make more post that's more in depth about my opinions and thoughts about the franchise later on. I hope my post can reach out to some people, and I'll get to hear some opinions from you guys as well.
(Ps : Since I'm new, could you guys like maybe leave some links of people for me to follow? I would love to follow some people who are quite similar to me. Like maybe some about Hiccstrid, discussions about the franchise it self and thoughts about httyd 3)
I'm gonna end it off here, I wish everyone a great and happy 2020! My new year resolution is, I hope DW will continue the franchise, and really give what the fans want. I know there are many fans who liked the film as well, but I hope DW will listen to the others too.

Thank you for asking!  I assume this is for RWBY, but will also answer for HTTYD as well since both are my main fandoms.  This turned out a bit long, so kept most of it under the cut.
19. What is one thing you hate most about your fandom?
For RWBY... there’s a lot I dislike.  I think the biggest issue, however, is how generally dismissive if not outright hostile subgroups of the fandom are to others.  Be it for how people feel about certain characters, whether they consider post-vol 3 personally canon, and especially what ships they like.  I know these are issues with many fandoms, but holy fuck, it feels like RWBY ramps it up to eleven sometimes.
For HTTYD, this was a bit trickier, but I think... it’s the massive divide that happened after Race to the Edge, and to a lesser extent, The Hidden World.  I’m not a fan of the latter and don’t regard it as canon, and there have been many that have argued RTTE isn’t canon either, but gods I recall the big feuds and how many people ended up leaving just because people were butthurt about what they considered as having happened.  I kinda wish we all just... got along and talked about what we liked about each part of the franchise more and bonded over that... though, I guess I should also do that as well... ^^;
16. What would you change in the show?
Easy, I wouldn’t have killed off Pyrrha.  Others have gone on about why her death doesn’t really do much in the grand scheme of thing instead of being the big event that was totally necessary, especially with Penny being back and having zero negative impact from being cut to pieces on accident.  Instead, I’ll just say that there would have been a lot more potential having her get through the fall of Beacon, injured but alive.  We could have seen her deal with the fallout of her actions, her status as the ‘invincible girl’ stripped away in the worst possible manner, and have her reflect on destiny, what she wants out of life, and what she is willing to do and give up to get it... but instead we have ashes in the wind with only a sliver of hope that she is somehow brought back.
For HTTYD... I guess for starters, I’d give Astrid have more of a role in both the TV show and HTTYD 2.  I’ve stated before that I dislike that Astrid is more or less relegated to the sidelines in the second film, and it’s a bummer that she has a paltry handful of episodes that focus on her, especially with how many we got just on Fishlegs and him dealing with his cowardice for the umpteenth time.  Additionally, would have developed the romance betwen Astrid and Hiccup in the show more instead of having them not be a couple until the third quarter of the series when they were already shown to be a couple prior, but that’s more nitpicking than anything.  Oh, also, would have ended the third film with many of the dragons staying or otherwise living outside of the Hidden world, if not just only make Toothless go.
9. Most disliked character(s)?  Why?
Cinder, Cinder, Cinder, FUCKING CINDER!!  ASIDE from killing off one of my favorite characters of the show and generally fucking everything up, I just hate this character’s general personality and how they carry themselves.  I also hate how they keep coming back.  At this point it’s kind of a joke, especially since she’s both one of the most powerful characters with her maiden powers, and at the same time one of the most ineffectual.  Her only personal big victory was killing Pyrrha off, and after that she can barely manage to do much of anything aside from being an annoyance.  What bugs me even more are fans that clamber for her to have some manner of redemption, like... no, no she doesn’t deserve one, not after everything she’s done and tried to do.
For HTTYD, I hate to say it, but it’s Fishlegs.  I don’t straight up hate and despise him like I do Cinder, but he’s easily my least favorite of the primary cast.  Think part of it is his design.  It’s not that he’s a chunky lad, Gobber is also heavy set and he’s up there with some of my favorites, but Fishlegs has these weird proportions and shapes.  No neck, his head basically jutting out of the top front of a blocky torso, giaaaaaaaaaaant arms that nearly touch the ground, and teeny wheeny legs.  It also doesn’t help that his character can be surmised as ‘cowardly bookwarm/nerd’ and his episodes usually revolve around the same handful of issues.  It would be a bit better if he had less of them, but gods he gets a bit too much screentime in the TV series.  Also, he rides probably the least interesting dragon species to me, so that also doesn’t help.

Why are people and critics bashing on The Hidden World again? Am I missing anything?
Heya there, friend! Hope you’re doing well! I’ll be honest, I don’t like discussions about “what is the fandom doing negative” because it can lead into some fans misconceiving their own situation. Talking about fandom from this angle can make people think the fandom is in a widespread negative, unhealthy state, when that’s FAR from the situation. Some people are good about being relaxed about it, but others get worried and fall into doomsday traps in these convos. I want to clarify, before someone freaks out and misinterprets fandom community for what it’s not: 
So many people in fandom are ablaze with hype and feels for THW! Audiences are coming out of theatres crying and in love. It’s not getting bad reception at all and saying otherwise would be misleading!
I suppose I’d say fans and critics have never been bashing THW. There’s a 91% rating rn on Rotten Tomato; that impressively high score is the lowest THW has been. Hoards of dragons fans in my life - both irl and url - are screaming with heartfelt emotion. Most critics are giving complimentary discussions on THW, with quotes like, “a tender, spirited, coming-of-age CG-animated feature that proves every bit as emotionally resonant and artistically rendered as its 2010 and 2014 predecessors, if not even more so.” I can only think of one person I know, in all of tumblr and discord and face-to-face friendships, who hated the film and rages on it. I’ll admit I’m not sure why you’re saying “bashing again” because, while of course I can’t see everything going on, there’s not bashing from any of the wide circles I’ve engaged with.
What I’d say is happening is that fans and critics are engaging in balanced constructive criticism. It’s important to remember that people can adore something and still acknowledge that it is - like all media - imperfect. It doesn’t even mean that a movie is “okay” instead of “good,” because people will discuss the imperfections of masterpieces - not with irreverence, but with love, appreciation, acknowledgment, and consideration. Constructive criticism is healthy discussion, analyzing a movie from all its angles, not insulting or belittling it. Most fans who engage in constructive criticism still enjoy THW or find value in it. I suppose the reactions I see in the HTTYD fandom for THW are: 1. Loved it, hyped, probably cried hard in theatres, and 2. Mixed opinions, not sold with the ending, but found the movie worthwhile to see on screen. 
Which isn’t too different from how HTTYD 2 was received four years ago, honestly!
You may already be familiar with the dialogue, but in case you or anyone else is interested, I’d say these are the points most often constructively analyzed:
Hiccup and Toothless’ relationship feels one-sided. 
Hiccup’s selfless love for Toothless is treated as clingy. 
Romance feels like it’s given the priority over friendship.
Hiccup and Toothless separating doesn’t feel like the inevitable solution to the problems being presented in the film.
The first two movies are all about how friendship triumphs, and how Hiccup will do what he can to create peace between humans and dragons to change the world. Viewers feel like the movie 180′s this message without needed grounding. It can come across like Hiccup is failing or giving up.
There is too much humor cluttering other parts of the film.
Toothless is too anthropomorphized or treated like a cutesie good boy.
The movie focuses too much on the Light Fury and Toothless bond over the other dangers and points of conflict.
The Light Fury’s design is unnecessarily feminized.
Grimmel is a fairly standard HTTYD villain in his motivations, plot arc, threat, etc.
The movie’s pacing might feel too rushed. Some say it could have used 30 more minutes, or even another movie or two. (I propose simply tweaking scene presentation and making the climax a few minutes longer).

None of us hate the movie! There is lots we’re hyped about and love! But we’re also engaging in a dialogue about what the movie could have done better!

The Rise of a King, Hiccup - Part 3
100% honesty here, the third movie killed my motivation to finish this. However, I had already begun to write it out and I hate to let the work waste away in my drafts... So, I’m going to leave what I wrote and give a semi-ending to this.  I hope you enjoy. 
Summarizing part 2, when given freedom, Hiccup is shown to excel. As he excels, he grows into someone fit to lead and gains the first of his loyal (human) companions–Astrid. In gaining Astrid’s faith as a leader, the others begin to follow him too.
As HTTYD1 ends, we see that some of Hiccup’s ideas are being implemented and people are cheering for him as the one who saved Berk from the Red Death and united them with dragons--BUT life isn’t all sunshine and roses! As the show Dragons: Riders of Berk reveals, Hiccup has a long way to go to become the next chief not just in gaining leadership skills, but in gaining trust and support from and towards those around him as a future leader. 
According to history, “As warlords, Norse chieftains were in constant competition with other chieftains for power. To prevail over his rivals, a chieftain needed a loyal band of warriors to fight by his side. The more warriors he commanded, the more powerful he tended to be. To obtain and retain loyal warriors, in the words of historian Anders Winroth, ‘A chieftain needed to be generous to his men, he needed to be victorious in battles – to “feed carrion to the ravens,” in the poetic vocabulary of the time – and he needed fame and a good reputation. If he was not able to achieve all of this, he could not achieve any of it. It was through winning battles that he gained the riches that allowed him to be generous, and his generosity stimulated poets… to contribute to his fame by composing and reciting poetry. This, in turn, inspired warriors to seek out the famous [chieftain], so that he got more warriors and won battles even more easily, which gave him a good reputation and more booty to hand out to warriors.’”
Stoick, a classic Viking, seems to have followed this tradition almost fully (the only real difference being that Stoic inherited his role, but even with the inheritance he has earned the right to be chief through his deeds). Each member of Stoick’s council is fiercely loyal to him--even Spitelout who is narcissistic and prideful is loyal to his core to Chief Stoick. The whole of the council is also a little afraid of him, knowing full well that Stoick can and will do what he wants and that they must, as loyal warriors, follow his lead. 
*According to the fan wiki, when Stoic the Vast was alive the council consisted of: Gobber the Belch (Berk's blacksmith/former warrior/dragon doctor), Spitelout Jorgenson (warrior/Chief's 2nd in command), Silent Sven (Berk shepherd), Bucket (farmer/fisherman of Berk), and Mulch (farmer/fisherman of Berk). Also, adding to that list is Gothi who, while not a member of the council, has a strong role in decision making as the village elder. (Before someone points out that Bucket and Mulch are fishermen, let’s note that all of their wikis have some mention of being fighters/warriors in their past.) 
Hiccup is a little different though--and so are his team of dragon riders. What I think we’re seeing within the series is, essentially, the rise of a king rather than the rise of another chief. It’s not a perfect analogy of what’s happening, but it kind of sets up the foundation for character growth we see over the course of the first two movies and shows. Firstly, the foundation for a kingdom rather than a chiefdom is already there, starting with how the chief has been decided through a family line while other important roles seem to have been acquired by individual power like Gothi choosing who gets to kill the first dragon at the end of training for the young Vikings in HTTYD1. While Hiccup is unlike to be made “King” by the end of the series, he is certainly going down in the Berkian history books as a different kind of leader because of the choices he makes and because of how the rules. 
Rather than picking the strongest of the group, he has a collection of different people with different abilities and skills (the dragon riders). Over time, and through heavy encouragement/leadership by Hiccup, the dragon riders each develop significantly (well, maybe not so much Astrid as she has always been pretty mature). Of the twins, Ruffnut shows some hidden wit and, on more than one occasion, shows the capability. For example, on more than one occasion in the show, Ruffnut is shown to be able to put aside her selfish desires, as well as her brothers, in order to do what is best for the group. There is even an episode devoted to such in later seasons. In movie one, heck-even early in the show, this was something no one would have expected given her behavior. However, she’s changed and by extension, the audience is able to see that Ruffnut is actually much smarter than she appears and seems to be acting the way she does in part out of her own fun but, more likely, out of protectiveness for her brother who is sensitive but also much more impulsive and childlike than others their age. Fishlegs gains an enduring strength as the series go on, something hinted to in the first movie but really comes out in the show. Snotlout perhaps shows the most development though as he goes from complete impulsive muscle-headed mightier-than-thou to a loyal companion and, perhaps, a trusted confidant to Hiccup by the end of the show. Overall, by the time movie two comes about, we see the development climax in scenes like Drago’s capture Astrid & company. In the scene, the group laughs at the idea that anyone can take on Hiccup when it comes to controlling dragons. Something that the last season of the HTTYD shows also seems to make a note of (that being that Hiccup has a special way with dragons).

Regardless, Hiccup’s attention to his group and different form of “ruling” them (not just ordering around like his father but attempting to get his team to understand why he does what he does), creates a different feel to what we can expect of him in the future. 
It’s thought to be that “kings weren’t just more powerful rulers; they were also a different kind of rulers...the king’s followers had much more specialized roles in both war and peace.” From what we’ve seen, Hiccup is attuned to this specializing on deciphering times for peace and times for war, ultimately hoping for peace more than war but willing to fight when needs be. Likewise, he’s worked hard to change the dragon rider’s way of thinking to match. Snotlout being an impressive example of someone who, while still prideful, shows a lot of improvement across the animated shows by learning to care for his friends and not just chicken out when there’s no one to show off to. Ruffnut also shows great improvement, as she learns to set aside the crazy she shares with her brother to help the greater good on a handful of occasions. Astrid learns to stop hitting first and learning second, and Fishlegs also learns to be more assertive. Toughnut... well, he tries but his improvement does not seem to be the same level to me, though he does show great talent in trapping.
What I mean to formulate here is that (1) I think the Chief chooses members of the council and I think Stoick chose his members primarily for their fighting power and loyalty. (2) I think that Hiccup will choose differently from his father. I think that his choices will also be fiercely loyal, but they’ll also be people that can think critically about whether to go to war or fight for peace via discussion. 
In the end, what we might see is that Hiccup becomes the first King of his people just as Toothless has become a “King” of dragons.
