Technophobes need to apologise for "just put it in plain English you stupid machine!" because, well for one the decline in accurate error messages in favour of simplicity has contributed to the rise of tech illiteracy, but also because now whenever an "app" has a net connection error it will pop up a box saying something like "oo ooopsie! Your super duper feed went poo poo. We'll try again soon!" which having said to me by a corporation is about 8 million times worse than having to hear the word "network".

If anyone ever mean or nasty to you one of the kindest things you can do is make the charitable assumption that they’re acting this way because they’ve been treated this way. You don’t have to put up with that treatment either, but if you hit it back with equal vitriol you’re only creating more anger in the world and likely confirming in their mind the negative biases they have towards people.

It takes a lot of strength to be kind, to be gentle, try to be an example to others and maybe they’ll learn from you.

i have no idea if you’re still invested at all in the httyd books (i remember loooving your analysis posts from some years back but it has been a little while), but if you are, have you read the most recently published book (how to train your hogfly)? i would be very interested in hearing your thoughts about it, especially considering it’s been so long since the last book released

Ahhh thank you for the kind words! Yeah, totally, I still adore the HTTYD books, I just haven't felt the hankering to analyze material online (I'm off dancing with other hobbies). I sadly haven't picked up the new edition, so I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. But I plan to! It's wonderful we've gotten something new in the HTTYD book world.
