Please do not blame the story. The story cannot help itself. We do not realize it at the time, but sometimes the story we are all a part of is not just a story about vikings and islands and dragons. It is a story about growing up. And one of the things about growing up, one of the inescapable, inevitable laws, is that one day...
"Three boys, all named Hiccup"2024 is a leap year, happy birthday to all three of them!!I hid some details in this one, as well as some interpretations based on the books, see if you can find them(?Time took: 14 hrs This one took longer than usual, and I tried some new painting methods, there are still some flaws but overall I'm quite happy with the resultsThe second pic is the filter version, and the last three pics are cropped versions
Hear me out, each How to Train Your Dragon movie parallels one of the Hiccups from the books.
To demonstrate:
The first movie = Hiccup the first. Hiccup befriends a fallen dragon and integrates humans and dragons so they can live peacefully together.
Second movie = Hiccup the second. Hiccup tries to use peaceful means in order to secure a safe place for both dragons and humans to exist. The result is tragedy and death (although in the movie Hiccup survives and dragons are notably not enslaved.) It’s established that humans are a threat to dragons.
Third movie = Hiccup the third. Hiccup realises dragons and humans will always be a threat to each other and it will inevitably come down to one or the other. Dragons find themselves on the losing side and Hiccup sacrifices everything he has to try and save them.
I had wanted to do something for all three Hiccups and this was what I had in mind though I also want to draw a modern AU you know like all three of them as brothers or something? I might draw it
originally, the electricity in my house went out and I had lost two hours of progress🥲
