Sam cared. Sam cared so much it only emphasised how little he cared himself. Zemo felt stretched thin, emotion too far past boiling point to calm yet not close enough to exhaustion to feel the gentle tug of compliance on his body.

Sam was crouching down in front of him like he hadn’t just smashed a super soldier’s face in and still had at least one remaining good hand. He didn’t know when Sam had learned to feel any degree of security around him, but for better or worse he didn’t seem to give a single fuck about his supposed risks as he used the cloth in his hand to wipe the thick, sickening layer of sweat, tears and snot from his overheated face.

When Sam followed the action with a “I’m sorry,” it almost sounded like it meant something.

Fic: A Christmas Baron

When Bucky gets the mission assigned to him, that he is to protect the well respected but definitely arrogant Baron, Helmut Zemo in Sokovia during the Holidays, he doesn't quite picture his life will change the way it does. He anticipates an annoying stay at some old mansion, watching out for the man as he sips champagne and flirts his way through the upper crusts of European society. Instead, he sees a charming, intriguing man, who looks at Bucky like no one else does. As Bucky tries to keep Zemo out of harms way, his past as an assassin haunts him, and this Christmas he has to re-learn how to care about someone, and be cared for.

Or, the Christmas Movie AU about how James "Bucky" Barnes falls in love with Helmut Zemo, very much against his own better judgement, at Christmas.
