Slice Of Life Part 2
Jeon Jungkook/Reader
Summary: Your relationship with jungkook is going strong, but things don't always go as planned.
Warnings: Established relationship, idol!au, fem!reader, pregnancy, talk of toxic family, swearing.
Word count: 2198 Part1 M.list
Tumblr media
2020
Since that first date with Jungkook, things had been going well. You had been together for just about two years at this point, having moved in together after the first year. Even though you were both young, you both knew that this is something you were in for the long haul.
Basically, everything was perfect. Until it wasn’t.
Having a baby at this point in your life was definitely not on your to do list. At 22 you’d think you would know better. You and Jungkook had gotten pretty drunk at the party celebrating the success of their last album, MOTS: Persona, and apparently decided to have unprotected sex.
Now you wouldn’t change it for the world. You were the proud parents of a beautiful 2 year old little girl, but at the time in 2020, things weren’t all sunshine and rainbows...
When you found out you were pregnant, neither of you knew what to do. Only thing you knew for sure was that you wanted to keep it, but Jungkook was having constant panic attacks at the thought that this could cost him his career. You weren’t anybody famous, just a regular store worker, so even though you wanted to sympathize with him, you didn’t suffer that kind of anxiety.
Jungkook’s anxiety got so bad some nights that he would rush to throw up, and then fall asleep on the bathroom floor. His fellow BTS members noticed a change in the young boy. There worry continued to grow every time he would arrive at the studios, obviously completely exhausted. They tried talking to him, but he would always brush off their concerns, insisting that nothing was wrong and that he could take care of himself.
Looking back, Jungkook knows that his panic was unfounded, but he couldn’t help but think the worst at the time.
The very first person he’d told you were pregnant, even before his own parents, was Namjoon. He knew he could trust his leader to put him on the right path.
‘Please say something hyung.’ Jungkook had cornered Namjoon in his studio, knowing they would have privacy here.
‘I’m just in shock honestly. You know you’ve been incredibly foolish right?’ Namjoon stared pointedly at the younger boy, who in turn looked down in shame. ‘Who else knows?’
‘Nobody yet and I know I need to tell the company, but hyung I’m terrified. Jungkook buried his face in his hands as the tears freely fell. Namjoon looked on with pity. The maknae had gotten himself into this situation so it was his own responsibility. That said, he would still be there for him as his leader and more impotently, his friend.
‘I’m scared I’m going to loose everything I’ve worked so hard for, and I’m scared I’ll be an awful father...’ he was basically sobbing now, letting his emotions fully overtake him. Namjoon was up in a flash and now sitting next to Jungkook, arm placed across his shoulders to offer some comfort.
‘I can’t say how you’ll be as a parent, that’s all down to you. But you know me and the guys will always be on your side. I’m sure it wont come to this, but if the company tries anything, all of us will refuse to work.’ Namjoon was confident in his statement. If they tried to force Jungkook out, they would all fight it tooth and nail to get their way.
Luckily it didn’t come to that. Namjoon had forced Jungkook to set up a meeting that same day to tell the company, stating that it would be better to do it sooner rather than later.
They were pissed to put it bluntly. Pissed that one of their top idols would be so careless.
‘So what do you plan to do?’ Namh Si-Hyuk stared at him from across the table. Usually, he wouldn’t be the one to lead meetings with his idols, leaving that to their managers, but all things considered, he thought it best to deal with this in person. The man was a lot calmer than Jungkook had expected. Bang PD sighed in disappointment when Jungkook told him that you both wanted to keep it, but nodded along never the less.
‘I think the best thing in this situation would be to keep it as quiet as possible, then a few months before delivery, you go on hiatus for ‘personal reasons’.’ Bang PD nodded to himself as he wrote something down on the notepad in front of him. ‘What does Y/N do for work?’ Jungkook’s head snapped up when the older man revealed his plan. For the whole meeting, his head had been bowed, too embarrassed to meet his seniors gaze.
‘What!? You mean I’m not fired?’ Bang PD looked almost offended at Jungkook’s surprised tone.
‘You really think that low of us here?’ He sighed and shook his head.
‘N-no! It’s just...’ He didn’t know what else to say.
‘Ask Y/N how she would feel working here during her pregnancy. That way it would be much easier to keep things under wraps.’
‘Y-yeah. I’ll do that tonight.’ He had no idea how that conversation would go down. It wasn’t like you particularly liked your job at the convenience store, but still...
‘What? So now I have to be watched by your company!?’ You seethed as you stood over Jungkook, who was doing everything to avoid eye contact. He seemed to be doing that a lot lately.
‘It’s not like that. They just want to make sure it doesn’t get out yet.’
‘Well tough shit! I have no obligation to your company! Fuck you for even asking me this Jungkook!’ He winced when you cursed at him, sighing as he watched you storm off towards the bedroom. He couldn’t force you to leave your job, but he also didn’t know where to go from there.
It had taken you the whole night to calm down. You didn’t even let Jungkook in the bedroom that night, forcing him to sleep in the stuffy spare room. You understood he was only doing what BigHit had requested of him, so your anger towards him was probably unfounded.
You sat down with him when he returned home the next night, and spoke about what was best for you to do. You knew it could be dangerous for you to continue working at the convenience store if people found out who the father of your baby was, so you reluctantly agreed to accept a position at the company building.
‘I’m nervous Kook, what if I screw up?’ You fidgeted nervously as you walked into the building with him. Jungkook didn’t actually need to be there that day, but he wanted to make sure you got settled properly.
‘Relax, you’ll do great! Plus you’re only an assistant so not much to stress about!’ he reassured you, grabbing your hand and stroking your knuckles. ‘Besides, it’s only until you give birth, so if you hate it that much you don’t have to stay after.’ It had taken you a little while to get used to your new position. Jungkook had lied when he said there wasn’t much stress involved with being an assistant to their managers, but then again, how would he know?
Everybody had been extremely welcoming to you and helped you to settle in. Only a couple of people knew of your situation, so it wasn’t like there was nobody to talk to if need be.
Years later, you had not only stayed at the company, but raised the ranks and had become a manager for TXT. You’d joined the company not long after their debut, but had known them since you started dating Jungkook pretty much. The boys all loved you, plus you worked well with them so it only made sense for you to be placed with them when you took on a permanent role.
As your pregnancy went on, Jungkook had calmed down somewhat. At least compared to when you first found out. Now it was time to tell other people.
You’d both travelled to Busan to tell his family in person. There reaction was a lot better than you expected in all honesty.
‘I can’t believe I’m going to be a grandma already! Would it have killed you to wait a few years!?’ His mother cried out, whilst pulling the two of you into a tight hug.
‘If you ever need any help, you know where we are, ok?’
Later that night, Jungkook was hold up with his dad and brother, doing god knows what, whilst you and his mom sat in the living room, eating nibbles and drinking tea.
‘So. You can tell me the truth. How has all this been for you?’ she asked with a knowing smile.
‘It’s been stressful I wont lie.’ You absentmindedly rested your hand on top of your stomach. You were about 5 months along at this point.
‘Jungkook was really scared at first. So was I. But we have so many amazing people around us, it was hard to even feel that way after a while.’
‘And how about your parents dear?’ What have they done for you?’ You swallowed the lump in your throat and looked away. You had to tell your family at some point, but you knew the reaction they would have. There attitude was part of the reason you had up and moved across the country without telling them.
Your reaction told  Jungkook’s mom everything she needed to know, so she placed a comforting hand on your shoulder.
‘You’ll always have us. Please don’t forget that.’
After that visit, you decided that there was no need for your parents to know. The only time they called you was when they wanted money now that your step dad had lost his job, so why would you want that toxicity in your child’s life?
Jungkook was supportive of your decision, having witnessed your family’s anger first hand. Though it wouldn’t be long until they found out...
At around 7 and a half months, the rumours began floating around about the pregnant woman that recently started at the company. Different rumours were surfacing whenever you were pictured with certain idols. Nothing was confirmed however, until you and Jungkook were spotted leaving your apartment one morning. The news exploded that day, causing BigHit to basically go into lockdown for damage control.
‘since you were seen leaving Y/N’s place, we think it would be best to confirm the relationship, to avoid anymore rumours.’ Manager Sejin explained, strong cup of coffee in his hands. Jungkook grasped your hand under the table as you listened intently.
‘Is it still ok for me to work here?’ You asked hesitantly. Sejin shot you a questioning look. ‘Since I was only offered the position to keep the pregnancy quiet.’ Sejin smiled at you and patted your shoulder.
‘You’ll always be welcome here Y/N, if that’s what you want. Right now though, you both need to look over this statement.’
There was a mix of reactions to the announcement. There was some positive, but also a lot of negative, and negative ones always stuck out the most.
People saying that you baby trapped him, that he was too young and you ruined his life, mostly things like that.
Even though they promised that you would always have a job there, Sejin insisted that you take early maternity leave, allowing you to work from home so the situation could blow over. Jungkook had also been placed on leave so he could be with you for the last part of your pregnancy. You felt awful that he had to stop working early because o you, but he reassured you that there’s nowhere else he’d rather be.
‘Jagi... You know this is something I don’t want to miss.’ He came up behind you and rubbed your stomach. ‘If they didn’t put me on leave, I don’t know when I would be here with you.’ You smiled and spun round in his arms to face him, leaning up to kiss him.
‘I love you.’
When it came time to give birth, considering it was also your first child, everything went as smoothly as it could. You were in labour for about 13 hours, before you finally gave birth.
‘It’s a girl!’ Your exhausted breathing filled the room as your daughter was placed on your bare chest. Jungkook looked on in awe, tears welling up in his eyes, as his fingers ghosted over her head, almost as if he were afraid to touch her.
‘Kook... she’s perfect.’ You stared down at the baby, not quite believing you had helped make her.
‘We should get her cleaned up.’ The nurse scooped her from your grasp. You didn’t want to let her go.
‘Y/N...I can’t believe we’re actually parents now.’ Jungkook pulled you back to reality and you turned your tired head to face him.
Happy tears streamed down his face. He wiped his eyes before standing and hugging you from above.
‘Do we have a name?’ The nurse smiled as she handed your baby back to you. Both Jungkook and you smiled warmly at each other, before looking own at your daughter.
‘So-Hee.’

Episode 1: The Beginning
Beyond the Star, produced by HYBE Media Studio
Opens with a flashback of Namjoon explaining their belief in the concept of how any art, any genre of art, can change the world.
This opening footage was recorded during a press conference for CONNECT, BTS.
Tumblr media
A good explanation of what CONNECT, BTS appeared on DAZED, January 14, 2020.
It was a huge wide-ranging global art project to link visual art to music art. This is one of the installations in New York City:
Tumblr media
Then we see scenes of them arriving at Incheon Airport in February 2020.
Tumblr media
In February 2020, they were about to embark on the MOTS world tour. They were really pushing into the western market, especially the United States. They were headed to the States to start promoting on the talk show circuit and for magazine interviews. Western media was all over BTS. The public relations hype for their tour was huge. It was going to be HUGE. BTS was HUGE. At this point in the documentary we see english speaking fans trying to buy tickets for this tour.
This was the beginning of the year that would be their magnum opus.
Leading the docu-series with this reminds everyone what was supposed to happen and the impact they hoped to make here in the United States, to ride the wave of their success as far as they could go until they had to stop. Keep in mind they did not have any full English songs yet.
As far as they knew, this would be the end as we knew it, the end of Chapter 1. We all know what was to follow the MOTS tour even though no one wanted to speak about it: Enlistment. Jin would enlist December 2020 even though rumblings of a potential military exemption were beginning to buzz.
This period of time and after was when MANY MORE became fans of BTS. MOTS:7 was a record-breaking album. They were riding HIGH.
The scene of them being told the MOTS tour was cancelled is gut-wrenching. It makes me think of the content they filmed that day (March 8, 2020 a music show?)
Tumblr media
and I wonder at what point during the day they were told. Jimin and Hobi did a Vlive:
Tumblr media
There are scenes of MOTS cancellation day in 2020 Memories, but not THIS scene of them being told the tour was cancelled.
Tumblr media
Then we jump forward to scenes of the members on the beach in LA (end of 2021) recalling their feelings and thoughts about the previous (almost) two years (the pandemic), reflecting on themselves. They had to overcome frustration, and change and adapt to reality.
Tumblr media
Some of them were able to do that easier than the others. We know Jimin had a rough time, and it was challenging for Jin, Tae and Yoongi. Namjoon and Hobi worked on music. Yoongi wondered what was the point of even releasing music at all.
Jungkook says even though they were sad, something good came of it, they realized how much singing and dancing – performing – meant to them and how it superseded everything else.
Jimin says he and Namjoon spoke about how they needed to organize their thoughts over the years pertaining to the reasons they are doing what they do, how they feel and what they want to do, perhaps in order to help them sort through the pandemic aftermath and to serve as sort of an outline of how to proceed... it is sort of how the rest of this documentary series unfolds: the past, the present, the future.
Namjoon begins sharing thoughts of how he felt in the beginning and we flash back to 2013 debut. And the rest say their thoughts about how they began. This is a good way for newer fans to understand how they began: hearing their words as mature adults reminiscing about their roots and their start.
Tumblr media
We’ve heard the general story of how they began with RM first and the rap line was assembled, then the vocal line was added with Jimin being the last to make the team. Bang PD recalls how impressed he was with Namjoon and knew this was someone special.
I’m positive there were opinions, decisions and choices made that we will never know because we weren’t there witnessing the moments. Whatever those decisions were, some probably forgotten in time or only known by a few involved in the process, however it happened, these seven individuals were settled upon and the team was created. The rest is history.
No one had an inkling of how much they would change the idol and kpop industry from what they then knew it to be.
Preparing for debut: one of the things Jungkook says is they expected hardships back then but looking back now, if he tried to do that now, he couldn’t do it, but back then, it was a given. Yoongi said they spent every moment in the practice room when they weren’t eating or sleeping… up all night practicing, so much stress and pressure amongst seven young passionate young men trying to make a good debut.…you can see the stress and fatigue on their faces.
Through all of that they reveal how hard they worked and how deep their commitment is. They felt it was important to convey this deep personal connection to each other they developed and how strong their bond is.
The events might be repetitive for people who’ve been Army since the beginning or since before 2020, but for the benefit of newer fans, presenting their story like this in the words of each member is important.
The author of the book Beyond the Story, Myung Seok Kang, explains how much of an underdog BTS was in the beginning. They were from a small, barely making it company and had the audacity to win Best New Artist in 2013 at the Melon Music Awards.
Hearing them state how they felt during that debut year, their young minds trying to process what was happening, thrust into society at such a young age, seeing their friends still being students, they had to reconcile within themselves that their lives were so different.
Jungkook (our now giant global pop star) said he remembers how small he felt hearing another really good singer in his in-ears as they prepared for a performance.
Watching them struggle to come up with the melody for Danger, working on it as a team from Jungkook, to Namjoon, to Yoongi, note by note… at such a young age and then not experiencing the expected success or gains after they had done that with the previous song… they thought this would be the end for them. All they wanted was to win first place at a music show…. CAN YOU IMAGINE?? The team was wavering.
Tumblr media
Newer fans need to be aware of this struggle.
All of this led to them writing the album, The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, the real start of their rise to stardom. They finally bagged that 1st place music show win with I Need U. The win gave them the confidence they needed to push forward and they kept winning with each song after that. Seeing their confidence grow after each win is exhilarating.
This album is the turning point in their career, the launch pad, so-to-speak.
And the song, Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment in Life) is the thread connecting Chapter 1 to Chapter 2 and beyond. We will have a Most Beautiful Moment in Life 10th Anniversary in 2025. This docu-series is the bridge between what was then, now and what is … yet to come.
Review of Episode 2 next…

DATES MATTER
They matter a lot. But if you're Korean, even more so.
That's one of the first things you learn when you get a bit involved in Korean culture (to understand BTS better).
First there's the language and the hyung/dongsaeng thing (although some still struggle with it LOL), and soon after, the couples' culture (anniversary calculators, wearing matching outfits, celebrating Christmas together, seeing the first snowfall, etc.).
I'm not going to say I don't believe the boys when they say something. I tend to believe them all the time...I promise!🙄😂  .... But I know they also have to omit certain information and can't be totally honest.
If Jimin says he doesn't attach importance to dates like his birthday, or Valentine's Day, or White Day.... I won't say it's not true. But I can't help but contextualise this statement, given that he is talking to Army. No one will expect him to say... "oh yes! I love celebrating Valentine's Day!"
Excuse me Sir, with whom? (would be the next question).
I also can't take his words as "giving a shit" about those dates, because looking back, I think we all know for a fact that birthdays and milestones do matter in Jimin's life... and Jungkook's.
We have seen them in a video on February 14, 2017 wearing matching jackets (something very Korean).
https://twitter.com/BTS_twt/status/831441471203004416?s=20&t=2fNRjVTroiMzzZrTh8JoVA
We've seen Jimin come back sooner from a trip to Japan in 2018 on February 14, and later going out to dinner with JK.
Jimin has not skipped even one of JK's birthdays.
Tumblr media
Nor JK's Jimin's... because even in 2020, when JK didn't post on his bday on twitter (to anyone all the year indeed), rumors of them were heard during those days (in the break they had after MOTS online).
On White day 2022, Jimin posted his famous pic on Instagram. The first one with a member.
Tumblr media
Days later we all saw the leak pic on Najujib.😎
Curious that on White day 2018, JK dedicated a song to “Army”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A cover that, soon after, he would hum at the MMA 2018, while massaging Jimin, telling him lil secrets and so on.... (I won't describe them because those scenes are from the first grade on Jikook issues, hehehehe..)
Tumblr media
And this vid is a classic:
https://youtu.be/RJF3xWmvan8
I don't go into recounting the times jikook has dropped that 11.08 is a landmark date, because there are so many wonderful posts about it on Tumblr. But I can't resist giving some examples
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This, not counting, the number of times they've posted at "XX days" from November 18, 2015. This is one of my favorites.
Tumblr media
Jimin posting on the Japanese fan club a present from him to JK.
811 days since 8th November 2015.
And the last one (from Jimin’s side) too:
Tumblr media
They can say whatever .... nobody is going to change my mind: THESE BOYS CARE ABOUT DATES
Actions speak louder than bombs... sorry! WORDS! 💛💜

Hi BPP,
I'm convinced Billboard has a spilt personality for real because how do you write an article about it being difficult to produce big stars right now, turm around a do a hit job on K-pop and Jimin specifically in order to quash his chances for any American noms and awards
***
Hi @ejassy
Lol Billboard doesn't have a split personality, you're just not really listening to all they're saying.
Tumblr media
(Brian is something of a twat sometimes but even he has his moments)
Billboard's problem is not that it's difficult to produce big stars right now, it's that (1) the big stars that are being produced are doing so outside the legacy framework and direct influence of the American rainmakers - the American labels and middlemen who would demand their cut, and instead it's fans of various artists who can influence which artists rise to the top; and (2) that the big artists that are being produced (by fan engagement) are increasingly non-white, non-American, and non-English-speaking.
That's their conundrum.
It's a problem they've had since 2018 when BTS out of nowhere showed up in the top 10 on the Hot 100 with Fake Love after it not just went viral, but was sustained on the charts driven by demand from American pop listeners (this was the time many members of the Bey hive joined the ARMY fandom and BTS caught on with the pop-listener 'gp' in huge numbers). Since then, every award-season article Billboard has published (since 2019) has had the same tone as the one published yesterday, with each year Billboard getting more overt in their disdain, and the quiet part of what they actually mean to say, getting louder.
I've been writing on this blog for over a year about BTS, k-pop, fandoms, and the music industry, and if there's one thing I suggest people take from it, it's this: it's important to understand that everything about BTS represents a world in which the industry gatekeepers as they're currently structured, are rendered obsolete.
It's why the Korean music establishment had a similar reaction to BTS from 2013 - 2017. BTS should not have been as successful as they became, they didn't come from a Big 3 company with all their industry connections as most successful groups did, they didn't have the backing of an American conglomerate as more recent breakout groups like Fifty Fifty did, they didn't have the typical visuals, sound, vocals, styling, etc that the most popular and successful groups did.
All they had was their hunger, their talent, their hopes, and their pride, with Bang PD using every bit of streetsmarts he had to navigate the cutthroat competitive environment in the industry. And the fandom quickly realized, as early as 2014, that they could not possibly operate like every other k-pop fandom if they wanted BTS to ever have a fair chance.
It wasn't until BTS became too big to ignore both inside and outside Korea, that the Korean music establishment start giving them their dues. Personally, I expect the same pattern for Western recognition. BTS was well on pace to deliver on that promise in 2020 with their MOTS tour - it was planned to be bigger than Taylor Swift's tour is today, back then. It was rumoured to be bigger than anything anyone, even Beyonce, had done till that point.
...but we all know what happened. Dynamite was a huge hit but in comparison to what could've been, it was a pitiable substitute.
Cue the English trilogy and Grammy attempts, snubs, and hiatus. Now there's a vacuum left by BTS, that most k-pop groups are trying to use to establish themselves with the same toolbox ARMYs and Western stans are using, while leveraging BTS's reputation, and the American middlemen are watching to see which groups are most compatible for them to partner with so they too can get in on the action and not get left behind.
Because the reality is that the landscape has changed. Fan engagement is not going away and will have to become a key consideration for creating 'big stars'. Everybody recognizes this. Not everybody likes it, not everybody accepts it, but everyone understands that this is now how the cookie crumbles, and that BTS and ARMY are a big reason this is now the status quo.
And the fact is this has earned the group and fandom, more enemies than friends.
Jimin, by virtue of being a BTS member, is not exempt.
Like I said before, there are many types of people in fandom spaces and everyone has their own reasons for being here. Some trivial, some not. But anybody who actually considers themselves an ARMY should take the time to understand what it means to be a fan of BTS. In my opinion.

Note
I disagree a little with the assessment that ARMYs would automatically become JK's fanbase if the group is no more. His retail album sales figures aren't all that ahead of Jimin. His entire album is in English, he had crazy promo, from July we got almost non stop stuff till December, he had huge names he collab'd with and yeah with all that he did the best among the members. But comparing effort with outcome, his results don't look that great to me. If army were as enamoured with his music as they were with BTS' old albums like BE or MOTS:7 or LY, I think he would've done way better. He's still got two songs on TTH if you think about it and his streams are good don't get me wrong but his songs are still on the largest playlist on Spotify you know? It tips the scales.
The reason a lot of pjms feel like JK is favoured is because, the fact of it is, that a lot of armys don't like Jimin in particular so when we compare the way they act for Jimin versus the way the act for JK, we can clearly see a difference. But if Tae or Yoongi, who are in my opinion the two other army favourites, had gotten the same push as JK, they would've gotten the same level of support.
Anyway, in pure numbers it won't make a difference whether his results are due to Hybe or due to army. My only point is that if Hybe keeps investing so much in JK, I'm sure he'll continue to do well but he's never gonna reach BTS' level. They continue to pump money to keep him on all the big playlists to maintain this illusion that he's got ARMYs full support but in my opinion, that's all it is. An illusion.
Also this ask is getting too long but I also just want to bring up Tae. The most followers on IG, most fancam views and prior to solo era he was considered by some, including many armys, as the secret weapon since he was considered the most popular. But that didn't get him anywhere with layover (compared to Jimin and JK) and that's because his standing as the most popular member was partly illusion. If you looked under the hood it was the paid followers and views (not by him) or vpn voting and sales or multiple accounts and all that only works up to a limit. I'm just saying JK's strength is also partly illusion, constructed by the label (rather than fans which it was for Tae)
TGK are definitely the middle ground for armys, I agree. But out of the 3 of them, jk was always gonna have the best chance of suceeding. Armys don’t care for golden but they really don’t like layover. They take to yoongi better than joon or hobi, but the majority of the fandom still doesn’t like to stream rap music. Jk having palatable pop music was always gonna work in his favor over the other two. That’s why bang and scooter picked him because he’s the most agreeable member across the board.
And yes jk’s success thus far is mostly an illusion. One that they had to forge because the needed to devalue jimin. But like you said, it really isn’t all that impressive when you consider the effort they put into him. You look at the 16 versions worth of albums billboard reported that they put out to boost his sales yet he was only able to sell around 46k more than jimin who had 5 (a mini album at that). Like it’s very obvious what that reads as. 🥴
That “secret weapon” tagline armys had for th was embarrassing and came back to bite them in the ass. But they’ve always put so much stock in the superficial regarding that man and little else. You’ll see his stans fight this one sided battle with pjms because they’re still deeply bothered that jm pulled off the debut they expected th to do. They’ll cling to his popularity for dear life since that’s their safeguard and you can’t help but laugh because their only solace is that he’s more liked than jimin is. But does that mean much when it’s purely due to looks and out of obligation to do so because he’s one half of a ship? Not really.

JHS: Twisted Feelings
Tumblr media
Summary: After working at an award show for 2 years everything had become normal, idols were no longer exciting to see, performances became dull and every day blended together, that was until an unexpected man asked for your help.
Genre: idolljihope x fem!reader, angst, fluff, strangers to lovers, ongoing series
Warning: none for this chapter!
A/N: I i in no way own bts and this is purely a story of fiction! I wanted to specify that this story takes place around the timeline of what would have been the mots 7 era if Corona didn’t happen, I didn’t want to confuse people as I go. I am trying to update as much as possible I find so much joy in this story. This is short but I am planning to update more I just wanted to get through this kind of boring but necessary chapter.
Ch.03 <. Series Masterlist > Ch.05
Tumblr media
Thankfully the negotiations didn’t take as long as you had initially thought, a few different company lawyers had come in to review and make any changes necessary to the standard contract Sejin had given you but overall it wasn’t unpleasant.
You had decided that you would translate, whilst providing the members with private lessons if they decided they wanted them. It would be full time and you had agreed to be “on call” 4 days a week. The pay rate was almost triple compared to what you had been receiving at the awards company but then again that was expected. It was more than you had anticipated but it was understandable once you found out their previous translator had made a choice to reduce her hours to focus on her family.
Something you admired.
Sejin had informed you that the boys had been called into a meeting room, one of which you would have to join as it was about you, he instructed you to the room and asked that you wait there whilst he gets you an employee card made.
The members were definitely loud, you could hear them before you had even opened the door to the meeting room, their voices rebounding off one another in what appeared to be a debate over which song was harder to perform. You felt awkward at first, like you was intruding, that was until Hoseok looked towards you a hand beckoning you to sit at the table.
“I’m guessing you took the job if you’re here.” He was talking directly to you but the other members had quietened down - all focused on your conversation.
You have a slight nod. “It appears to be so, I mean it wasn’t a hard decision to make.”
“Well we are happy to have you, we will try and make it as easy as possible. Jungkook and Yoongi would both like to take lessons, we spoke during rehearsal.”
You look towards the mentioned men, you was surprised Yoongi had wanted to accept the lessons, him being more reserved than the others.
“I always want to help in the English interviews more and it frustrates me not being able to understand army when they comment.” Jungkook gave an explanation, one that wasn’t necessary but one that you took thankfully.
You smiled at him, converting wordlessly that you had taken in his comment. It was nice they felt somewhat comfortable with you but in all honesty you was unsure how to respond.
“Maybe we should introduce ourselves a little more?” And just like that you were saved from an awkward silence by none other than Kim Seokjin.
“I’ll go first?” You suggest, taking it as a yes when no one interjects.. “I told Hoseok-ssi previously that I was unsure how good of a teacher I would be. I’m not the most qualified person for this job but I don’t want to look at it in that way, I don’t want to look at this as I am someone who teaches you and works for you, I think when you approach something with that much of a definition it can become stressful and overwhelming. I will do my best to support you through any interviews or meetings where it is necessary and I will always try to be available if any of you have questions or need help with something. I worked translating for years before this and I studied English for a very long time so I hope I can at least use that to help you all.” You finish your personal monologue with a little clap, one that makes you cringe at yourself.
“Does it bother you working with idols? Do you have any experience?” Taehyung was the one to question you, it wasn’t a question that was surprising but the scepticism his voice held was.
“I have worked around idols not directly with them, I’d prefer it If you didn’t refer to people as if they are nothing more than their job titles. I don’t see you as idols I see you as human beings doing your job the same way I will be. I know that in this industry there is a lot of worry about having your privacy breached or information leaked but that isn’t something I would ever do or accept being done. Not because of a contract clause but because everyone deserves a right to privacy and anyone who disregards that is the lowest kind of being.” Your face falls flat, you know it was probably time to shut up but something inside of you secretly wanted this to work.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to imply anything.” Taehyung slumps into his seat a little further, no doubt he too was wishing the floor would open up and eat him.
“Are you worried about your security and privacy? A lot of our staff have left because it became too much?” Jimins voice was lighter, he seemed soft.
You shrug your shoulders before shaking your head. “No, I mean in all honesty they could leak my information if they wanted too. I’m pretty sure no one would be interested in my personal activities I’m not the most exciting person.”
“You’re much braver than me.” Hosoek smiles at you, the tension in the room growing thinner as the conversation continues.
Sejin had joined shortly after, informing everyone of your role and the rules of their interactions with you. It was mostly just about the times you’d be working, he had made note that Jungkook and Yoongi wanted to take private lessons alongside Hoseok.
After that Jungkook had excused himself to get refreshments and snacks. Sejin had insisted that you spend time together in the building to get to know one another as it was only a few weeks until their schedules would pick up and you’d be thrust together 24/7, they all seemed happy to have the rest of the day off apart from this mandatory bonding session.
“So how old are you?” Jin asks, reaching to take a packet of honey twists from the snack pile that had been formed upon the table.
“I’m 24 in international age, I’m sorry I don’t know your ages?” You looked around waiting for someone to answer.
“You’re the same age as me and Tae. Jin Hyung is 27 so is Yoongi Hyung, Namjoonie Hyung is 25 and Hoseokie Hyung is 26 , me and Tae are 24 and jungkookie is 22.” It was at this moment you was thankful that you had good memory retention, you’d have to make sure to get a list of their birthdays. Even if you were only a staff member you didn’t want to forget something so important.
“Can I call you Noona?” Jungkook perked up causing a giggle amongst the men, you felt almost sorry for Jungkook until he smiled at you.
“Sure you can.”
“Thanks Noona.” He pops a chip into his mouth before turning the pack around to read the nutritional information.
“You can talk casually with me, I wouldn’t want it to be weird.” Taehyung mumbles, you slightly regret your rant at him earlier. You’d applied to him privately especially when he was trying to make you feel comfortable. “Me too.” Jimin agrees handing you a bottle of water after retrieving one for himself.
“You didn’t think we would want any?” Jin asks, rolling his eyes. “You’re supposed to take care of your Hyungs.” If you hadn’t already experienced his playfulness you’d be worried but you could see the way both he and Jimin were laughing about the situation.
“Anyone else have any honourific requests before we move on?” You ask uncapping your water bottle.
Yoongi, Jin and Namjoon all shook their heads no. Each of them slowly breaking off into their own groups on the couch in the corner.
You turned your attention to hosoek who had softly called your name. “You can talk to me casually if you’d feel comfortable like that, I wouldn’t want you calling me Hosoek-ssi all day every day.”
“I wouldn’t want to disrespect you.” If it’s one thing your parents had taught you it’s to respect your elders. “Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.” He smiles giving your shoulder a squeeze before looking towards the members. “Wanna join them on the couch?”
You contemplated it for a second, it would be nice to spend more time with them, it was clear from Sejins instructions in just a few weeks you’d be preparing to fly with them for their tour and that would be easier if you knew each other better but their dynamic felt so entwined and it would be a lie to say it didn’t make you feel like an outsiders “I think I should go I wouldn’t want to overstay my welcome.”
“You’re not overstaying anything.” Hoseok was quick to reassure you, his smile warm. “We can always ask the others if you’d feel better knowing their preferences?”
You weighed out the possible embarrassment to any other outcome and decided in this moment it was most likely best to ask so you whispered a quick but hesitant “yes”.
You felt a weight lifting as he stood up calling everyone’s attention. “Hey guys does anyone mind spending more time together?”
An array of “nos” came from everyone, making you feel more welcome.
“See? I knew they would like you.” The comment is smug, proud.
“Oh please them not kicking me out doesn’t constitute to them liking me.” You laugh, his mathematics of the situation not adding up.
He doesn’t seem to mind the joke, it felt nice to have someone other than Na-Rae to joke with.
You talked with him for a few more minuets, he was explaining some part of the choreography to you when Jungkook asked you over to help him read a letter someone had left for him on Weverse. Hosoek wasn’t happy with the interruption but work came first, even in friendlier situations like this.
The rest of the afternoon went smoothly, each member divulging things about themselves as the day went on, mostly about their work life, their pets and their families, nothing too personal. You could tell they all had apprehensions sharing anything like that when you had let slip that you wasn’t dating anyone after jin had asked how you’ll manage your time. You was quick to reassure them that you never wanted them to be uncomfortable and that you didn’t need to know anything more than what they felt okay to share.
Before you had left they had all exchanged numbers with you. It was the easiest way to contact one another and it would allow them to come to you directly instead of waiting for the daytime if they needed help.
When you got home it was far too late to cook anything so you decided on ordering takeout, which arrived much later than you had hoped, it didn’t take you long to finish eating the food hadn’t been the greatest and you found yourself full after a few bites so you boxed it up and put it into the refrigerator. You had just about finished when your phone rang.
“Rae?” You mumbled as you answered the call, happy to hear your friend on the other end.
“I hadn’t heard from you so I thought I’d check in, things are hectic without you here.” She sighs but you can hear her clicking a pen against her desk, something she only does out of boredom.
“So hectic that you have time to call?” You ask, settling down on your coach.
She whines dissatisfied. “You just had to go and get a new job didn’t you.”
“How did you know?” You sat forward, had it been leaked already? You knew that news travelled fast it was impossible not to but that was almost too fast.
“Oh stop worrying!” She chastised. “Your mother called me and asked me to get you a cake for celebration. I’m guessing you took the job? What are they like?”
You shake your head, throwing the tv control back on the seat beside you. “They are nice but that’s all I can say.”
“Stop.” You laugh at her irritation. “Seriously?”
“I know it’s exciting Rae but I don’t want to take away the little privacy they have, they are nice, they made me feel welcome.” You knew you could trust her but even so it still felt wrong, especially after how Taehyung had seemed so on edge about you.
You heard her throw the pen at her desk, as much as you loved your best friend she could be very dramatic. “You’re no fun.”
“You’re not respectful.” You shot back, a little harsher than intended.
You had almost thought you’d upset her until she asked her next question.
“Are they really hot in person?”
“You don’t get bored of yourself, do you?” It was true, she never got bored.
“Nope I couldn’t, too amazing for that. When do you have a day off?”
That was something you wasn’t entirely sure about. You hadn’t actually organised the days you would be in the building and the days you’d be on call for the group. “I’ll have to ask the management team.”
“You started a job without knowing the days you’ll have off? Yeah they must be hot.”
“I’m going now.” You rolled your eyes, not that she could see you.
“Lunch on your day off?”
“Only If you don’t ask me how hot they are.”
With that you hung up, not entirely sure what to do with yourself. You’d never usually had a day off during this time of year, you knew the best thing would be to write but all you could think about was your private lessons tomorrow with Hoseok, Yoongi and Jungkook.
The rest of the night passed painfully slow, you found yourself alternating between putting together documents for your classes, planning and sending unnecessary messages to your parents in an attempt to procrastinate.
In the morning you were informed a car would pick you up, both the members and Sejin had decided it would be best that you be discreet, no one needed ridiculous dating rumours and although you were okay with people asking it wasn’t exactly a positive experience to have your information leaked.
The ride to the company building wasn’t as fun as it had been when Hoseok had picked you up, secretly you were thankful it had been him but that didn’t mean anything, he was just fun.
They had all explained their limitations and desires with you, the things they wanted to be able to do in English, Yoongi wanted to learn to write music in English which admittedly would take a greater level of understanding, Hoseok wanted to know enough to help Namjoon through the interviews something Yoongi had also intended to do and Jungkook wanted to know everything possible and was adamant that he would be better at it than anyone else. After the Grammys they all decided that they should learn something additional, especially for occasions like that.
You entered in the same place as yesterday, they really were serious about security. After having your ID scanned and a quick bag check done you were allowed into the company, Sejin had set up a room close to the practice room, it was kind of like your own office, there was everything you would need to help the members, books, a computer, a table against a small black couch in the corner. The room smelled like fresh paint although that wasn’t surprising, Seokjin had explained how the company only recently changed buildings.
Before you could even settle into the space there was a knock on the door.
“Come in.” You shouted, you continued looking through the folder left on your desk, it included various documents about the members schedules, where you’d be needed, when you wouldn’t be, any relative information, you knew you’d have to look through it all properly later.
At least you wouldn’t be bored tonight.
“Hey, I see you come in I just wanted to make sure you settled okay?” You turned to see Namjoon, his blonde hair messy and eyes dark.
He definitely did not look okay. “I’m fine Thankyou, are you?”
“I’m okay, I thought it would be a good idea for us to talk. Can we sit?” He gestures to the table and you agree, taking a seat at the chair beside it as he sits himself on the couch.
You waited for a moment for him to speak, you could see he was unsure of what he was going to say which only made you hesitant to hear it.
“I care about my members a lot, I try to navigate the English side of things as best as I can but I too make mistakes. We rarely are ever provided with English translators in interviews and our previous translator wasn’t always able to translate in our interviews. I don’t like to see them stressing and worrying over things like this but they do, each of them grow more anxious around the time we have foreign interviews.” He pauses and you’re unsure wether to speak or give him more time, you didn’t want to assume where this was going and say the wrong thing. After a brief look at you he continues. “I want to think you’ll be good for us.”
With that he leans back and you find the words to respond, despite how gentle he was there was also a underlying threat between the lines stating do not fuck this up. “Namjoon-ssi, I am happy that you felt comfortable enough to talk to me about this. I can’t speak for the people who worked with you in the past but I have my own morals and expectations of the level of professionalism I want to have here. I will try to help as much as possible with everything related to that and I obviously wouldn’t like to see any of you stressed or anxious being an idol already seems exhausting.” You gesture to him and he laughs, dimples forming either side of his face.
“That’s true. Do I look that bad?” He asks, running a hand over his face.
Your shake your head earnestly. “Not at all, you’re human. It’s okay to be tired.”
He seems relieved to hear that and for the first time today you feel like you’ve started this job on the right foot.
“You’re very kind. I should go, Hobi will probably be here soon.” He stands up, his hand lingers over the door handle before he turns back to you. “You don’t have to answer this I’m just curious but why did you take the job so easily?”
“I want to write more, I always loved writing and somehow I lost the time and passion to at my last job. I know it’s going to be hectic here but I feel like it’s a chance for me to find who I am and what I want. I like new experiences and new places, I also would like to be able to give back to those around me and I couldn’t do that where I was.” You sometimes hated your honesty but it was better to be open then have them all thinking you had an ulterior motive for the job.
“Maybe one day I’ll get to read what you write.” His response is short but for some reason it only brings you motivation.
“I’m sure you will.” You smile at him once more and then he is gone.
The door closing only to reopen, this time with a different face.
“Hoseok-ssi, Goodmorning.”
His hair fell across his face, his smile bright. Although you had been expecting him you felt excited to start the day now that he was here, he always had a way to brighten the situation.
“Please call me hobi.”

There’s a lot of assumptions here I don’t agree with. The west is embracing new jeans and they haven’t had physical promo like bts did. The reason why bts is not getting really embraced by the gp is cos the music they promote to the west is generic meaningless boy band music which is very unrelatable. And authenticity is a big thing in the west. If they gave Mots7 or any of their albums before that the level of promo dynamite or butter had, they would have gotten more of the gp appreciation.
Hybe is not just only promoting jk, but they were also hampering other members promo. Look at how lackadaisical they were with shipping jh, Jin & RM albums. How poorly they scheduled Face, the many issues we faced during Face era that jk never experienced. We had to tag them for basic things that a label should already know about. How they shaded jm in their own article and are several times refusing to acknowledge his no1. It goes beyond promoting one member and more into trying to stifle the rest to present an image the label has the power to make a pop star. And is probably also why they give this promo to songs the label premade and not the artist’s authentic music that the artists makes
Thanks for the ask, anon. I'll share my thoughts to your ask in parts: (and sorry for the long essay in advance, kindly read, i swear i get to a point lol)
Western GP (New Jeans vs BTS): Can I be very very honest? New Jeans music is extremely catchy and has that hyperpop element that western audiences eat up. With rise of artists like PinkPantheress, hyperpop is gaining even more popularity, and Y2K aesthetic is back. NewJeans are all that- the music and aesthetic both. I'm not sure what were their digital promo methods, but perhaps playlisting on streaming platforms? And the collab with Apple was very strategic too. Let's also not forget they have english chorus in their songs and went viral on tiktok. New Jeans are in top 5 kpop groups in tiktok. I cannot speak for NewJeans much, because I have only listened to their songs, and do not follow them.
Let's talk about OT7 songs promoted in the US first- as in Dynamite, Butter and PTD. Let's take Dynamite - a very well crafted product, basically a completely American song with American references and MJ inspired choreo. It was meant to catch western attention and did its job. But the problem was- it was a single, not an album and it didn't really showcase the range of their artistry. Yet it did the job of exponentially increasing the fanbase. It was pandemic time, people were in their rooms, with internet and Youtube. Those who were meant to find BTs, found them.
Could BTS have achieved long lasting attention with MOTS 7 promotion? Honestly, it's hard to say. BTS's music is not conventional. You will never hear a BTS song and think- 'oh! i've heard something similar', in fact, sometimes it is even difficult to comprehend what genre their songs are. A different language, a different genre, 7 different voices, with no two albums that sound similar, no viral tiktok songs. Do you know how difficult it is to crack the western market? It is a lot of information to feed. I will come back to the MOTS 7 issue later.
How does one build a fanbase for a band like BTS?
BTS's popularity and long lasting fanbase has always been formed by the story they sell. Bang PD, right from the start, wanted to show the world 7 authentic, real boys who wanted to share their original thoughts, happiness, feelings and struggles. Added to this, their underdog story. Yes, their struggles from older days are all real and valid, but knowing that story makes you relate to them. Because, aren't we all some type of underdog before we achieve something big? People have often been drawn to BTS via word of mouth, friends, 'i just wanted to know their names' and ending up watching the Taylor Guide, 'my wife took me to their concert and now all my friends love BTS', 'they taught me how to love myself' etc etc. BTS has always inducted fans who were searching for something in their lives, or are curious, or are 'willing to learn'. You cannot sit an American down and show them a BTS US interview and ask them to listen to the album and make them a forever fan. Do you know how people in the west don't watch an international film just because they refuse to read subtitles? The language barrier might be easy for armies to overlook because we are invested, but it's not easy to convince a monolingual westerner to start reading subtitles to get into an entirely different fandom.
To sum up my points above:
BTS sell their story and relatability and group dynamics, which is not possible just through basic promotion. One has to dive into BTS voluntarily and go through the plethora of content, one by one.
BTS songs are usually not tiktok viral for some reason, considering how big of an act they are. Barely any bts tracks have gone viral- BST remix, black swan instrumental (maybe), PTD dance challenge to name a few. I don't know the reason why because I have barely ever used tiktok. Because armies only interact with each other on that app and even then, they don't use bts songs as audio.
The pre-requisite is to be backed by a western label for radio, playlist, western ads etc. Because the US won't allow an outsider label to make money off their GP, simple. It just takes away the money that could have stayed with western labels.
Coming to individual member (JK) promoted in the US: I did mention in the post of mine you have linked- that Golden lacked depth. Quoting my own words directly - " While they paid attention to heavy promo, charts and playlisting for Golden, they failed to create a connection with the music- which seems highly non-personal and lacking in depth and has a non-interesting concept. The promo did do the work of making jk a common name, showcasing his talents and introducing him to the industry. But for a lasting impact, they have to create better stories with the music. Idc, army are acting too defensive when people are disappointed that he didn't write his songs. It's okay to not write, but the very least singers can do is connect to song meanings and relate to personal experiences during the promos."
And anon, you are right, to have a lasting impression in the west, one needs authenticity. Actually let me list down the non-compromisable parameters required for success in the US-
Affiliation to US based label/Connection to industry mammoths. (Give money to US/US based part of the company)
English song/ lots of english lyrics + recognizable genre
Character/ brand of the artist (which the audience calls 'authenticity', but is actually the 'brand' of the artist created by the label. People hear the artist's name and know what to expect. You hear Olivia Rodrigo and you know you will get teenage, angsty, heartbreak tracks.)
Last but not the least- tiktok push. (somehow extremely essential today)
Hybe gave JK 1,2 and 4 from above list. They tried to build up on his character, but it is incomplete and lacks depth. The character they have built for him is- Korean hearthrob who can sing and dance, inspired by Michael Jackson, the ONE member to look out from the massive band BTS (Justin Timberlake trajectory). They gave him catchy songs directed at het women, dressed him up in clothes fitting that image and made him perform live at TSX. Thanks to the massive ads and promo, people know him now. But unless he shows the true depth of his character and brand to the GP, a lot of people (non-army) won't look forward to his future works. And whether we like it or not, him not being being able to interact freely and share his thoughts in english in the interviews is still a drawback for him. (personally, i wish that was not true).
Even when some celebrities of colour get the limelight in US pop culture, it's because they are connected to the US. They emerge as this messiah for their 3rd world country, can speak english and work for US labels and production companies. The US gets to keep the money and awards, and also gets to flaunt 'diversity'. It has always worked like that when the west opened the doors for a POC.
MOTS 7 would not get GP acceptance without being backed by a US label. And would a US label ever accept a full Korean album with all Korean artists? Why would they invest in an artist of a foreign language? Can Bang PD's assistant call up US radio and get them to play Dionysus? No. But if Scooter does it, they will pay attention.
An English speaking artist can convey their feelings through words on a radio, but how will a Korean artist do that on the radio with no subtitles, to an audience who refuses to read subs in the first place? You know how the US GP reacted when Parasite movie won an Oscar, right?
Ever since 2017, BTS have tried for that hot 100, did everything they could, backed by their Korean company, tons of US interviews and what not. But at the end of the day, they had to compromise with meaning and depth and churn out an all english, MJ inspired, disco pop track which finally gave them their #1. I am not downplaying the significance of Dynamite, or saying that it's a bad song. But I simply mean that only a marked shift in genre and strategy gave them that #1.
Anon's words: "Hybe is not just only promoting jk, but they were also hampering other members promo."
You are absolutely right. The only properly done solo work was that of Yoongi I feel. He knows his priorities and influence on the company, and has always had a very strong connection to both inside and outside the company. I'm not sure if D-Day was mismanaged, though am sure some yoongi biased army will have things to point out. All the other members have faced mismanagement. Jimin the most, I feel. Even recently, there's a Weverse article where they wrote that "jhope led the contemporary dance with Jimin", in spring day. All respect to Jhope where he deserves because he is the dance leader indeed, but he did not lead the contemporary dance in spring day, as amazing as he is, respectfully.
Anon's words: "It goes beyond promoting one member and more into trying to stifle the rest to present an image the label has the power to make a pop star."
I felt the same thing. I share the same sentiment with you here. The way they downplayed Like Crazy's achievements was disappointing and hurtful. That day it became crystal clear to me that Bighit did NOT see that achievement coming. None of the member's releases was meant to make this much noise, not before their Scooter backed project. They grossly underestimated the extent army can go even for 1 member (arguably the 2 most popular members in US are Jimin and Jungkook). Honestly the type of promotions JK got would never be given to other members because the other members would NOT agree to singing english songs that have zero depth and zero connection to their own feelings. JK was willing to take up that offer because.. well it's his choice. It was a golden platter, why not take it up? His image is moldable, he can sing whatever he is given and has the talent to pull it off. No matter whom we bias, JK has been the center of almost all BTS songs, a non-replaceable voice. But at the end of the day, the reason he was the one member who Bighit wanted to stand-out from the group was, it was his consent and agreement to everything the company planned for him.
I do wonder what it would have been like if all members received that kind of promo with their own artistry. But the entire premise of them being backed by Scooter/US collapses because they refuse to sing songs written by Scooter's writers. So I also agree with anon when they said "And is probably also why they give this promo to songs the label premade and not the artist’s authentic music that the artists makes."
Instead, Hybe is focusing on the other kpop groups under them. It's like the 6 members were just given their own individual management teams to manage their solo works lol. At least, let's be glad that the 6 members are getting full creative freedom for their work. I just want their solo works to be better managed. And I hope their managers, and planners, especially those on Jimin's side have learnt their lesson and come up with a foolproof promo for their next projects. I don't expect anything from BangPD, that man has been showing a certain pattern I don't want to discuss. (solely because i refuse to think what goes on in his mind).
As fans, all we can do is support the solo works we feel connected to and support BTS as a whole in future OT7 projects.

what’s your favorite hair on every member of bangtan? sorry if you’ve answered this before 🧐
ohhh kayla kayla kayla, what a fantastic question. I needed some time to think and came to the following solution: very generally speaking, I love their hair longer in the front, shorter in the back, and with a side parting and/or their hair styled off their face 😌 that’s a good formula 😌 shdhhfh okay more specific now, SO
namjoon – mots persona platinum joon. it just made his skin glow even more than usual. generally I think he really rocks lighter hair colours, also his forehead was made to be exposed okay
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
seokjin – dark hair! I liked his wavy the astronaut mv and coldplay performance hair, it didn’t live long enough :(
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hobi – black hair, kinda wet look, so good. but ofc also platinum hair hobi, no one will ever do it like him. and I also love when they take strands of his hair and style those (exposed forehead!!!), good stuff
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
yoongi – black hair and short in the nape of the neck!!!!!!! so that includes early yoongi, fake love yoongi, d-2 yoongi, dynamite & BE yoongi etc etc. and when his hair grew really long, I loved it too, but only really when it was properly styled (haegeum dance practice, snooze performance vid, valentino) and when it was wavy (first suchwita ep, nba game, his insta pics) … and let’s not talk about run bts dance practice…..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jimin - BLOOOOOOOOONDEEEEEE. period!!! (he looks really good with silver/grey hair too, though)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
taehyung - curly black hair taehyung forever and always. BUT both dna grey hair tae and (honey) blonde taehyung will always get me weak in the knees as well (so you can imagine what I'm going through these days). actually as long as it's kind of wavy I'll eat it up
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jungkook - 2019 jk (sys tour, muster, lotte concert) always!! and when he got a perm for dynamite promo it was SO flippin cute (and hot once they went for a wet look). and basically the same haircut, just with the hair being long everywhere. another member that'll always get me once his hair is wavy/curled/floofy actually

teehee you told me to drop by so i'm asking the most important question of them all.... of the main new directions who do they bias in bts and how much do they like bts 🤭
hi u are so real for this sorry this has taken me a while to get to!! been trying to organise my thoughts but i'm still not fully set on things. i guess ill do this from like. most to least likely to enjoy bts? (also i will say i have thoughts on the vb au squad specifically! i don't remember them in detail and they're probably similar to what i've written here but i def remember talking about it with mist)
tina: 100% most likely to be an army also def a once and a sone but that's not relelvant here! girlie has taste and i love that for her <3 she has jimin stan energy to me, i think she'd see the similarities between him and mike and she'd have a major soft spot for that
sugar: not technically one of the main new directions but i wanted to include her anyway bc i bet she loves bts. she has that vibe. she'd have all the merch and could very easily spend hundreds of dollars on concert tickets for herself and tina and anyone else who wanted to come. idk how she'd feel about the older eras but she'd def be a fan of the more poppy songs (maybe hyyh-onwards? def enjoys the LY/MOTS eras). probably a big vocal line fan, specifically jin and possibly jungkook as a bias wrecker
brittany: i think she'd enjoy bts a lot tbh! idk if she'd dive deep into fan theories or keep up with stuff like run bts but she'd def vibe with their music and i would kill to see her do the dance challenges or even full dance covers. i'd say she's hobi-biased but also just a big fan of 3J/sunshine line
blaine: i think he'd enjoy their more recent eras! mainly LY/MOTS-onwards i think? he has boy with luv/dynamite vibes. major jungkook stan in my head but i think he would really enjoy joon's lyrics/writing style
mike: def introduced to bts through tina dkfjgh but i think he'd get sucked in by the dance practices and the live performances even if the music itself isn't necessarily stuff he'd listen to! probably a 3J stan, if i had to pick one i'd very hesitantly say jimin
santana: idk if she'd listen to them regularly but. i do think she'd vibe a lot with agust d's albums? and i also think she'd find mono and indigo really soothing. epiphany would alter her brain chemistry and no one can tell me otherwise! i know for a fact that she would cry at that song. namgi fan
quinn: casual bts listener i think? def a joon stan tho i don't make the rules here!! i do also think she'd enjoy jin's voice a lot
artie: i feel like bts would be a guilty pleasure for him? idk if he'd be super invested but he would enjoy some of their music and he would def have an appreciation for the mvs! musically i'd say he enjoys tae the most but he def thinks jimin is ridiculously pretty
sam: hmmm sam is one i feel much less familiar with. mist said u guys have talked about blamtina being armys together and i can kinda see that? he does also kinda seem like he'd consider them a guilty pleasure to me tho. jin or jungkook stan energy
mercedes: secondhand fan through tina! idk if she'd listen to them on her own but if tina is around she doesn't mind listening to them. there's bound to be at least one song that hits hard for her but idk what it is rn. i think she'd appreciate tae's voice the most?
kurt: also introduced to them through tina! idk if i see him being much of a kpop fan but i do think he'd appreciate the aesthetics and the artistry of it all. i think he'd like jungkook bc he gets blaine vibes from kookie? alternatively there's sth about him that makes me think jimin stan
puck: bts doesn't really have much rock music so i guess puck wouldn't be super interested in most of it but i feel like there are probably a few songs he might enjoy just vibe-wise? maybe stuff like stigma, house of cards? i also inexplicably get a hip hop fan vibe from him despite that not being a thing in canon so i could potentially see him vibing with their earlier eras and stuff like the cyphers and being biased towards the rap line? but i'm not very set on that
finn: doesn't strike me as much of a kpop fan tbh but i think there are a couple of songs here and there he might like (fake love rocking mix!). idk if he'd actually ever remember any of their names tho kdfjgh he'd probably pick a different bias every time he's asked bc he never pays enough attention to recognise any of them
rachel: does not have kpop fan vibes to me at all but i find it hard to read her so i could be wrong there? idk i don't think she'd really listen to their music since she is so showtunes to me. that being said i think if she had to pick a fav it would be jungkook if only bc of the gold star/golden maknae association
