Jake and Mari meeting Damian for the first time
Jake: *watching Dick struggling to piggyback a 260+ lb man* Dad who is HE?!
Mari: Why're you carrying a man twice your size?!
Dick: *Wheezing but refusing to let go of his hold on Damian's legs* He's...he's my son...s-say "Hi, Damian."
Jake: I'm your son!
Mari: Jake's your son!
Dick: *gasping* Yes...but Damian's my first born."
Jake & Mari: *turning to look at Damian*
Damian: *looking back at them then turning his nose up and smirking*
Jake & Mari: *instantly activating their powers* This means war.
Dick: *jerking his head up* Wait-what?
--
Jake and Mari complaining to their Uncle Tim about Damian
Jake: You won't believe what he did! He hit me on the head with dad's eskrima!
Mari: He also punched me!
Tim: *snorting* Let me guess, he also stuck his tongue out at you two while Dad-DICK-wasn't looking?
Jake: Yeah! And then dad scolded all of us but when he was scolding me and Mari, Damian took dad's eskrima, put into his pocket-
Jake & Tim: *finishing together* -and mouthed "Mine."
Jake: Uncle Tim, you get it!!
Mari: *narrowing her eyes* speaking from experience?
Tim: *scowling at her*
Tim: .......hmm.
--
Tim and Jason forced to team up for a family mission
Tim: ...So I heard something interesting today.
Jason: Can we just shut up and work in silence so I can go home and eat and clean my guns in peace?
Tim: Jake and Mari told me they fought with Damian.
Jason: What? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! It must've been over Dick! It's the only thing that matters to that demon brat.
Tim: *smirking* yup. Remember when we fought over Dick?
Jason: Heh. I beat your ass. Good times, good times. I mean-what were we even fighting over, huh?
Tim: Liar, I totally won. And I know right? It's completely obvious-
Jason: Without a doubt-
Jason & Tim: *finishing confidently* I was Dick's favorite.
A ringing silence echoing in the batcave after that statement.
Tim: *smirk dropping* Did the pit wipe whatever brain you had managed to scrape by with? Dick obviously loved me more. He taught me how to analyze people, how to do laundry, and he even cooked for me! Me! He never cooks for anyone.
Jason: *sneering* And here I thought you were a detective but it turns out you were a "dumb-tective" instead. Has he ever gone skiing with you? Has he ever come up with a code-nickname for you like he did with "little wing" for me? Has he ever protected you from seeing seeing stuff cause he thought it wouldn't be appropriate?? Has he ever done that for you?
Tim: hE CALLS ME ALL THE TIME-HE LOVES ME MORE!!!
Jason: HE OPENS UP TO ME! IM THE ONE HE LOVES!
Tim: *screeching and lunging* I'LL BE SURE TO KNOCK YOUR BRAINS INTO PLACE!!
Jason: *grappling with him* AND I'LL MAKE SURE TO PUT YOURS BACK IN YOUR HEAD!!
*one hour later*
Jason & Tim: *Bloody, silent, and seething*
Tim: .....hey.
Jason: *gritting his teeth* what.
Tim: Did you and Bruce ever fight over who Dick loves more?
Jason: *mind exploding with memories of the two of them using sly, underhanded tricks to have Dick's attention for themself and sometimes even coming to blows over it* no. And I'm not the one who fought with a ten year old.
Tim: But you did.
Jason: You were thirteen.
Tim: No, I mean you and Damian fought.
Jason:
Tim: It's okay. I used to have a cold war with Bruce.
Jason: With Bruce? Why?
Tim: Because Bruce didn't want me but Dick did and Bruce is a possessive asshole who loves Dick but doesn't like sharing.
Jason: Damn. Yeah, that actually explains a lot. I'm still the favorite though.
Tim: *cracking his neck* You wanna go again?
Dick: *entering* Hey guys-woah, what's with the tension?
Jason: *Sidling up next to Dick and wrapping an arm around his shoulder* Nothin' Dickie. Heard your kiddies got into a fight.
Dick: *sighing* You heard already? It was a disaster. I'll tell you about it later. How're you doing, Tim? Everything okay, buddy?
Tim: *walking forward and grabbing Dick's hand* *furtively catching Jason's eye* Good Dick! I'm really glad you're back.
Dick: *immediately ruffling his hair and then Jason's* Awww! You're the sweetest. Both of you. I'm going to make sure the Bruce doesn't burn the kitchen down thinking he can suddenly cook in his old age.
Jason & Tim: *Turning to each other after Dick leaves* This means war.

have some tragic backstory idk

tw vampire whumper, vampire whumpee, lady whumper, conditioning, torture, burns, dehumanisation, knives, stabbing, gore, disembowelment, choking
"You are late." She shut her book with a loud snap, making Helle wince. "Again."
"Yes, Mistress," they said quietly. "Things have gotten out of hand–"
"Have they?"
They bit the inside of their cheek, taking a deep breath before finally meeting her eyes. Lady Marie was sitting in her favourite reading chair, her piercing red eyes pinning them in place where they stood. She was wearing one of her finer dresses — maybe she was expecting visitors. Maybe they'd messed up royally.
They swallowed, trying not to think about the potential consequences of embarrassing her in front of others. "I brought a human," they offered. "A– a nice one."
"You have been away for hours."
"Yes, Mistress."
She didn't even glance at the enthralled human standing behind them. Her gaze remained entirely focused on them, heavy, almost crushing. It sent shivers down their spine. They desperately wanted to look away, but they also had a feeling she would pounce as soon as they did.
"And you brought a human. A nice one." Her mocking wasn't cold and vicious, already letting them know that at the very least they would go hungry tonight.
"Yes, Mistress," they said dutifully, voice barely above a whisper.
"Well, forgive me for not taking out the nice cutlery."
Helle opened their mouth to argue, then prompty closed it again. She would know they were lying, most likely. No vampire needed hours to find a suitable human. The only vampire staying out that long was a disobedient one.
"I... it will not happen again."
"Oh, it will not." She put the book aside and stood up, and Helle immediately took a step back, bumping into the stupid human. "I knew you would not dare leave me, of course. Apart from the fact that you would not survive a single night on your own, I happen to know that you are very loyal. A useful quality." She walked over to them, and if Helle had been alive, their heart would've been pounding in their chest. "But others... others might question that."
She wasn't expecting guests. The guests had already left the mansion, and they had been out and about the whole time. They tried to swallow the lump in their throat once, then twice. "I apologise, Mistress."
"Your apology is as late as your arrival, pet."
"But I assure you, the blood–"
She moved quicker than they could comprehend, grabbing them by the shirt and hauling them across the room. They hit the wall with a thud, then the floor with another, but they couldn't even get their bearings before the woman was already on top of them. "Do you know what it was like to stand in front of the duchess and say one of mine was out hunting?" she hissed. "Then wait for hours on end as she insulted and berated me because of your incompetence? And you want me to taste the blood of the one pathetic human you managed to bring back for me, as if you had done me a favour by doing the one thing you were made for."
She flipped open her pocket knife, and Helle immediately recognised it as the silver one. They lifted their hand in a pitiful attempt at self-defence, crying out in pain when Lady Marie simply put the blade through one of them. "I am sorry!" they said desperately as she yanked it out, but there was no peaceful quelling of her thirst for revenge at this point.
She stabbed them again, and again, and again, and again, her vampiric strength carrying her through the motions effortlessly, with speed that left Helle dizzy and disoriented. They couldn't block a single one, nor could they keep count. Each one felt more ruthless than the last, drawing all kinds of screams and whimpers from their throat — until she targeted their trachea, of course. It was only bloody gurgles and wheezing after that.
Their whole body was burning by the end of it. Their guts were spilling out onto the carpets, a crime they would no doubt be punished for later. They were well past the point of struggling. They lay still as the corpse they should've been, save for the involuntary twitching of their ruined muscles. The coffin seemed like a favourable place to be, in times like this, safely tucked away under layers and layers of dirt, their only company being the worms that had found their way in. They hadn't appreciated it enough at the time.
"You will never make this mistake again," she said quietly. It wasn't a question that required an answer. It was a statement, and she had made sure no one in the vicinity would be able to dispute it. She glanced towards the other end of the room, and Helle realised the human must've fled long ago. They weren't thinking about keeping the stupid thing still while being stabbed seventy times. "A nice one indeed. Say, pet, do you happen to know the punishment of a servant that came back empty-handed?"
Helle tried to beg. They put their heart and soul into trying to make at least a single placating sound, a gesture, anything. They couldn't do it again. It had been so horrible the last time, they thought they were going to die, they couldn't, they couldn't–
"No? Well, then I shan't spoil it for you. But let me say this: I hope we have a gorgeous, sunny day tomorrow."

She gave him her number, and he put her in his phone as ‘lawyer girl,’ which made her laugh. He worked most nights, so they changed ‘drinks’ to ‘brunch,’ and he dragged her ass halfway across the city to a hole-in-the-wall place where she ordered the best Bloody Mary she’d ever had in her life. Over eggs benedict and home fries, he told her that he wasn’t looking for anything serious. "That's fine," she said, "my aunt'd kill me if I brought home a line cook, anyway." That made him wheeze-laugh, and Theo decided that she'd keep him around for a while.

WENDY | Have you given any thought as to your future at the firm? THEO | Uh... WENDY | You can be honest with me, Theodosia. THEO | [sighs] Not really...I’ve been working so many hours, I haven’t been able to set any professional goals. I’m just treading water. WENDY | You’re currently partner track. Is that what you want? THEO | ... WENDY | [offscreen] I’ve told you before: law is not a profession for dilettantes. If you don’t want to make partner, why are you working 70 hour weeks? THEO | Have I given you any reason to doubt my commitment? WENDY | Not exactly, but... THEO | But what? I bill as many hours as the rest of the second-year associates. WENDY | You’re not hungry. THEO | [offscreen] What? WENDY | Forgive me for saying so, but...it’s obvious your heart’s not in it. THEO | Are you saying I don’t have what it takes? WENDY | I’m saying you might be happier practicing in another field. Big law isn’t for everyone and there’s no shame in that. THEO | Okay, first of all — SERVER | How are you finding everything today, ladies? THEO | Just fine, thank you. WENDY | Actually... [chopping] ROB | What? SERVER | Table 12 says her lobster was cold in the middle. ROB | Table 12? [snorts] No shit, it went out 30 minutes ago. Food gets cold. SERVER | She wants to speak with you. ROB | What? SERVER | She told me to, and I quote, “go get the incompetent on the line” so she could “register her complaints directly.” ROB | Ha. You’re fucking kidding, right? SERVER | Nope. ROB | We’re in the middle of service. SERVER | Yup! She insists. WENDY | What’s your name, young man? ROB | Uh. Rob, ma’am. WENDY | Now Rob...How long have you been working at L’ostrica? ROB | Fourteen months. WENDY | In that time, has it ever been acceptable to send food out cold? ROB | Uh....no? WENDY | So you and I agree that cold food is unacceptable? ROB | I’m very sorry ma’am, I can take that away — WENDY | Excuse me, I’m not finished speaking! THEO | [mouthing] Sorry. ROB | [stifling laughter] WENDY | Is something funny? ROB | No ma’am. WENDY | I have to say, I am not impressed by the service today. [door slams] ROB | Fuck off, I’m taking my five. THEO | [offscreen] Y’know, Wendy might’ve been right about the service... ROB | Oh. You’re the psycho lobster woman’s...assistant? Daughter? THEO | Her mentee, actually. THEO | I’m a second-year associate at Maguire, Maguire, & Rudolph. Wendy’s my boss, but she also gives me career advice and stuff. THEO | Theo. ROB | Uh, Rob. THEO | I wanted to apologize for earlier. Wendy can be...kind of a bitch, honestly. ROB | Ha. She’s not the worst customer I’ve ever had. THEO | I believe it. My aunt owns a restaurant in the North End, and — ROB | In the North End? What’s it called? THEO | Gloria’s. It’s on Armory Street, near the — ROB | The statue of the dancer? THEO | Yes! You know it? ROB | Yeah, I grew up near there. My parents are enrolled at St. Cezara’s. THEO | Holy shit, small world. That’s like, two blocks from my dad’s. ROB | Small world...hey, what’s your number? Wanna grab a drink sometime? THEO | My schedule’s kind of crazy right now, but....I’d like that.

“Nightmares and cuddles” part 3
As Bowser’s flames engulfed Luigi Mario felt something wet on his hand, he jolted and Bowser, Luigi and everything else had disappeared. The streets were back to normal, people wandering them like nothing had ever happened there. Mario looked down to see Francis, pressing his wet nose into the palm of Mario’s glove, He could sense something was wrong as he let out a little wimper before nuzzling closer, Mario smiled and gratefully patted his head, Mario quickly wiped his eyes when he heard footsteps coming upstairs “Francis!” The lady cried opening the with her husband right behind her “I’m so sorry! I told Hon to keep him down stairs and he-“ “it’s okay!” Mario reassured “it’s actually kinda been a long day for me so he honestly helped!” The couple sighed in relief and signaled Francis to come to them, then stay “well should be all done here!” Mario smiled trying to sound optimistic. They paid Mario for the help and outside Mario snuck into an alleyway, as soon as he was out of sight from everyone, he pinned his back to the wall and started hyperventilating again, his heart raced and his hands shook violently, his vision started to cloud, causing him to drop his wallet in panic, some of the bills falling out. He tried to calm down and went to scoop up the money then stopped as he started counting it.. ‘all the money in the world couldn’t compare to what Luigi means to me’ to him Luigi was worth more then ALL the money in the world, He pressed his back against the wall and finally started to calm down.~~~~~Mario arrived at his family’s apartment, as he walked up the stairs, his heart rate had slowed but was still thudding hard against his ribs. He knocked on the door to be greeted by his Mom, she immediately embraced him in a bone crushing hug before smothering him with kisses then ushered him through the door. “Uncle Mario!” His niece (Madelyn) greeted “did you bring any cool new Power-ups for me?” “Leave your uncle alone, he’s had a long day at work!” Aunt Marie scoffed “heh- sorry kiddo, not today!” He smiled ruffling her hair, knocking her cap out of place, she responded by pulling his hat down over his eyes, he laughed “in just going to my room for a bit, I’ll be out for dinner soon.” His Mom smiled, his Uncles appeared in the hallway “so, you and the Princess a thing yet?” Uncle Tony teased, Mario elbowed him, Uncle Arthur snickered. Mario hopped onto his bed and let out a deep sigh as he tried to relax, he tried to get some rest but as soon as he closed his eyes, he saw Bowser’s flames engulfing Luigi again, he squeezed his eyes shut tighter hoping that that would make it go away.~~~~~Mario opened his eyes to find he was back in the streets, he looked up to see no Bowser but instead, Luigi.. he lay completely still, covered in burn marks, his clothes singed and a bloody stain appearing on his chest, before Mario realised, he was by Luigi’s side in seconds “Lu! Nononononononono stay with me!” Mario pleaded, Luigi coughed up blood then looked up to Mario, eyes barely open “Hey- Hey Bro... it-it’s O-okay...” He wheezed, Mario couldn’t speak, he pressed his hand to Luigi’s chest, trying to stop the bleeding, Mario froze when he felt Luigi’s heart stop.. “it’s okay bro!.. I said it myself, I’m not important.. if die.. so be it..” he coughed, before Mario could say anything, Luigi went limp, let out his last breath.. and Mario watched in horror as the light in his eyes faded, turning them gray. “Lu..... no... LU NO PLEASE!! You’re worth so much, I-I can’t live without you! Don’t-Don’t leave me PLEASE!! I need you I.... I love you..” Mario wept, all Mario could hear was his own heart pounding in his ears until- -To be continued.

11 and 17 for the asks? <3
thanks for the ask! 💕
11. Favorite books that give you inspiration?
Sooooo many, honestly. I can't control myself around books
Throne of Glass, obviously 😂 wouldn't be here without those books
An Ember In The Ashes. the writing is SO GOOD!!! the plot, the characters, the politics, the magic system, and ofc Helene my beloved, it's all incredibly written and had me hooked from the beginning. HIGHLY recommend especially if you like Fourth Wing 👀
The Bloody Jack series by LA Meyer. 12 books. features pirates, seafaring, chaos, shenanigans, and a kickass female protagonist who is genuinely one of the most realistically written characters i've ever encountered. 1000% borrowed from this series for FTBF lol. it's a complete series and I firmly believe more people should read and love these books
The Princess Bride. I grew up on the movie and the book (the book is better btw) and I'm definitely influenced by William Goldman's writing style. His tone, his satire, his characterizations, and of course the action scenes--all the things I want to do as a writer. plus PB is HILARIOUS, i wheeze every single time I reread.
anything written by Marie Lu, I will eat it up, probably cry, and then decide I also want to create a character whose story is so completely absorbing that the character steals a piece of the readers' souls
17. Do you prefer a certain type of music while writing? (Classical, soft tones, ambient)
It really depends on what I'm writing and how angsty it is 😂 I definitely listen to sad music for sad writing (looking at you, Noah Kahan), and I tend to rotate between Hozier, my random jumble of an untitled playlist, and the occasional symphony

wrapping legs around your partner
- Thorne Jamison x Peter Vincent
♥️♥️♥️
I just read the update for that one fic, so these two idiots are on the brain, so excellent timing, haha.
On with the fic!
--
"Sweetheart!"
Peter cringed at that utterly embarrassing 'petname' that Thorne still won't let go. It was fine behind closed doors, but not when they were in public, and especially not in front of Thorne's fucking bandmates!
"Shut up!" Peter hissed as he approached the stage. "Came to tell you to get your ass movin', me and the ladies need the stage to rehearse."
Thorne scoffed into the mic, leaning on the stand a bit. "We're not done yet."
"I've given you an extra half hour, it's our turn! We need to make sure that the tech is workin' since we had some stuff replaced this mornin'!"
"And you can test that stuff in a bit, we're still practicing. We've got the stage tonight anyway."
"And we need to make sure our shit works so our show doesn't suck tomorrow."
Thorne pouted, rolling his head about, before sighing loudly, dramatically into the mic. "Fuckin' no fun allowed around here when Mr. Vincent's sober, eh boys?" He asked, turning to his band, who laughed.
Peter rolled his eyes, technically he wasn't that sober, he had two bloody marys for lunch and they were a bit on the strong side. "Just finish up and get your ass off the stage!"
"A bit obsessed with my ass today, eh, sweetie?" Thorne smirked. "That's the second time you've mentioned it."
"God, you're insufferable!" Peter groaned and this earned him snickers and laughter from the idiots on stage.
The singer smirked, looking unbelievably cocky from where he stood up on the stage. Peter tried to not look at him, but it was hard not to, especially with the idiot standing up there shirtless of all things, and- wait a second, was he wearing some of Peter's necklaces?! Fuckin' theif! Didn't matter if they looked good around his neck, those were his!
"Fine, we're done for the day." Thorne said, stretching, making Peter's eyes look at him, and oh, he is such a bastard! "Hey, Peter?"
"What?" The actor sighed, exhausted already.
"Catch." Thorne smirked, and that was the only warning Peter got before Thorne threw himself off the stage.
It was absolutely amazing that not only had Peter actually caught him, but how he was able to keep his footing and not fall ass over tea kettle from the sudden, solid weight now in his arms. A pair leather-clad legs wrapped tightly around his waist and Thorne was gripping his shoulders.
He had that stupid, cocky smile on his painted lips as he looked at Peter. "Nice catch, sweetheart."
"I could drop you for that." Peter growled out.
"Nah, you'd 've done it already, instead, you're holdin' onto me pretty tightly. And speaking of tightly..." He had the fucking audacity to roll his hips against Peter's groin, right in front of his band.
Peter let out a wheeze, eyes wide as his grip tightened instead of loosened. The smile turned into a smirk. "Well, that didn't take long, did it?" Thorne whispered, clearly aware of just how that one little action had such an effect on Peter.
"You're the absolute worst." Peter hissed quietly.
"You cut my practice short, gonna do the same for yours." He winked, and Peter wondered how quickly they could get to his changing room like this.
--
Please do not launch yourself off a stage with the hope of landing in your partner's hold, you can't be as lucky as Thorne was here.

Chapter 27. Vampires Will Never Hurt You
AN: You know what! I don't give a fuck what you preps think about me! So stop flaming the fucking story, bitches! Thanks to Raven for your love and support and help. I love you, girl. Sorry I couldn't update, lol. I was really depressed and I slit my wrists. I had to go to the hospital. Raven, you rock, girl!
XXXXXXXXXXX666XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Everyone in the room started to cry happily—I had saved them. Draco, Lucian, Sirius, and Vampire all came to hug me. The nurse started to give them medicine.
"Come on, Ebony," said Professor Sinister. She was wearing a gothic black leather dress with a corset top and real vampire blood on it and fucking black platinum boots. "I have to tell you the fucking prediction."
I looked at Lucian, Sirius, Draco, and Vampire. They nodded.
I smiled happily and went into a dark room. I had changed. Professor Sinister took out some black cards. She started to look into a black crystal ball. She said... "Tara, I see dark times are near." She said it badly. She peered into the ball. "You see, you must go back in time." She took out a Time-Turner like Bloody Mary had. "When Voldemort was in Hogwarts before he became powerful, he got his heart broken. Now, do you think he would still become Voldemort if he was in love?" I shook my head. "You must go back in time and seduce him. It is the only way. If he is still evil, then you must kill him. You can come to my room tomorrow and you can do it."
"Okay," I said sadly. We did the Death's Touch sin. I went outside again, sadly.
"What fucking happened?" asked Draco and Vampire.
"Yeah, what happened?" asked Darkness, Willow, and Bloody Mary.
I was about to tell them, but everyone was there. They were celebrating Lucian and Sirius being found. Everyone was proud of me, but I just wanted to talk to Draco. They were chanting my name and some reporters were there, trying to interview Dumbledore. A banner was put up. Lots of fucking preps were there, obviously trying to be gothic, wearing the HIM sign on their hands, despite them not actually having heard of him. Even Mr. Norris looked happy. A black and red cake had been brought out. Crabbe and Goyle set up some fireworks in the shape of skulls from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.
I put on my Invisibility cloak with Vampire and Draco, and we sneaked outside together.

Tumblr media
For as long as you can remember, you've never believed in ghosts, demons, or souls that lose their way in the endless void, forced to roam the earth in repentance.
Believing in the unknown takes creativity, adventure, maybe even a little sense of fear. Scratch that—a shitton of fear, because humans love to weave in their insecurities and inability to explain something into something of a phenomenon.
Bad luck lies in this category. Bad luck is simply a way to justify the catastrophe that one cannot admit they have fabricated themselves. Everyone wants a reason as to why shit hits the fan, and it can be anything but their own fault.
Bad luck is nothing but a load of bull to you. That's totally why you're standing outside the calculus classroom during lunch break, which happens to be the official meet spot for the occult club.
You raise a fist to knock, but then falter, thinking over your options once again. Is this what it has come to? Putting your faith into the weird kids that once tried to summon Schrödinger's cat for the physics final.
Fischl kicks the door wide open, a smirk playing at her lips once she spots you. "One cannot refrain from the song of your cogitation. The feline for which thou dwell on—"
A squeak leaves your throat and you flinch back, cutting her off. "You can read my mind?"
"Fischl," An icy eyed boy shows up from behind her and points a thumb back. "Mona needs your help."
Fischl squints at you for a brief moment, and then spins onto her heel to go back into the room.
The blue haired lower class man, Chongyun you guess, narrows his eyes at you. "Is there something I can help you with?"
Finally you manage to speak, palms all sweaty. "Yeah uh, I need your help. You know, with occulty things." You use your hands to articulate your thoughts, but ultimately give up.
You're not sure if it's pity towards your pathetic explanation or simply annoyance, but Chongyun widens the opening. He silently gestures for you to follow.
Stumbling on your feet and putting on your big girl pants, you hurry inside of the room, hoping you aren't seen by Beidou. She wouldn't let you hear the end of this.
The temperature instantly drops, and you have to adjust your sight to navigate. There's heavy incense in the air as well as a a few lighted candles from the dollar store, you guess.
Sitting smack dab in the middle of all the demonic markings is Mona, with a mischievous glint in her eyes. Chongyun has made his way next to her, crossing his arms with a sigh, and Fischl is busy cooing at her bird.
"Well well well..." Mona's amused, eyes almost twinkling as she gets up from the poor desk that had to suffer the wrath of her ass. "If it isn't Y/N."
Mona is a glorified dick wiper in your books. One time, she partnered up with you in chemistry last year and refused to do any work because apparently her "star sign" said she was incompatible with science. You haven't forgiven her since.
"I need your help." You barely manage to choke out the words, reigning yourself in by clenching your fists instead. It'll be unethical to claw her face, especially since you're the one who's come to her.
"Oh?" She smiles wickedly, revelling in every moment of this no doubt. "Why would the high and mighty Y/N need help from the 'Whoroscope whore'?"
Fischl nearly slips out a laugh, trying with her upmost ability to refrain from rolling all over the floor.
You blink away your tears of almost-laughter, casually sliding in twenty mora across the table dividing you two. If she's a whoroscope whore like you say she is, she'll definitely put it in her bra.
Mona raises a brow, but her eyes linger on the bill for a second too much. "What makes you think I'll do it for money?"
"That's simple," You say, rolling your eyes. "When you see mora, you cling to it like a baby clings to a tit. Now just take it and solve my issues."
She fumes a litany of curses but snatches the money up anyways.
"What do you want?"
You breathe in, then out. "I need a talisman."
Mona raises a brow, hand on her hip. "I'm sorry. Did I get that right?"
How dare she. You will your eye into not twitching, the beginnings of fire thrumming through your veins, scalding hot. How dare she make me repeat myself.
"You know, the thing to fend off evil spirits," Your statement hangs heavy in the air as the cogs in their brains click into place. "I need one that can remove the most evilest thing times ten to the power of twenty five on this planet."
Everyone immediately thinks of Hu Tao.
Chongyun is the first to speak from an area of expertise, seemingly shocked at your words. "Are you sure you want a talisman that powerful? How bad is the evil spirit you've come across?"
You glance out the window, through the semi-open blinds. The apprehension curls in your stomach once you spot Childe chasing Aether with safety scissors, and you've never been more sure of than anything in your life.
Gulping, you turn back to the exorcist. "I'm 110% sure."
He doesn't ask any more questions and goes to fetch the talisman.
Mona clears her throat. "So I hear you have a date with Childe today. Quite the character you've taken to."
"Oh please," You hiss through your teeth, your blood pressure going up tenfold, "you're the one that told him our star signs were intertwined and that we're fated lovers."
She shrugs innocently, stance casual unlike your own that is ready to lunge an attack.
"Here you are," Chongyun hands you a talisman, a colourful mix of some charms, some kind of liquid in a bottle, and about a shitton of other things. "You'll need these if you're going to face the most demonic of all evils."
You think of Childe's stupidly handsome smirk, the playful life of his eyes, and how gentle and considerate he is with you. You think about how cruel he is to others, but how loving he can be to you.
"Oh, I will be."
Childe is getting his ass handed to him by Scaramouche on the switch. It's just that he can't seem to focus, not with the forthcoming date all over his mind.
He hasn't experienced these kind of jitters in a long time. Has to endure that foolish smile that's about to plaster all over his face.
Scaramouche may be a son of a bitch with an agenda, but he doesn't appreciate his acquaintances safeguarding their personal crap when it starts to leak onto him. Especially when it comes to video games.
"Okay," The short boy sighs, stretching over the staff room sofa to drop his controller on the cushions. "Let's hear it." He can't even properly enjoy his victories when Childe isn't giving it his all.
"Hear what?" Childe lays his head back, relaxing from all the strain of endless gaming during the lunch hour. He seems too relaxed for someone who's broken into the teacher's lounge.
"Why you're so distracted." Scaramouche points out. "Not that I care—hey! I'm serious here!"
Childe's cracking up for absolutely no reason, rudely cutting him off. "I'm sorry—sorry it's just so hard to take you seriously when you're wearing that stupid fucking hat."
"Don't question the drip." The older moves his head to glare at him, but the thin stripe of silk on his hat swooshes with him, and it's enough to have Childe clutching his stomach in pain as he barks out in laughter.
"Grow the fuck up." Scaramouche says, no doubt exasperated from the constant shit he gets.
"Ok—ok I'm sorry."
There's a knock on the door before Scaramouche gets the chance to intimidate him again.
"Fuck shit fuck who is that? Wasn't there a staff meeting?" Childe whisper yells, panic clear in the ocean of his eyes.
Scaramouche shrugs and downs a can of soda with no care in the world.
Childe would be nonchalant too. If it were a normal day, he wouldn't give two shits about getting caught.
However, he's looking forward to that date he has with you today. Detention is going foil all his lecherous plans.
"It's me." The feminine sound of a threat calls out from the other side. "Open the door." The clicks and clacks of her toes tapping the floor indicating her impatience.
The two sigh in relief, Childe getting up to open the door. It's way too early in the afternoon to deal with this crap.
"Surprised to see me?" Signora greets sweetly, and if not for the murderous glint in her eyes, he would smile back.
"Yeah, I didn't say Bloody Mary three times." The ginger replies, keeping a steady eye on the upperclassman in case she pulls a fast one.
The blonde shoves him aside in offence, and prances in like she owns the goddamn place. Scaramouche greets her with the bird.
"There's this rumour going around—I'm sure you've heard..."
"Oh?" Childe pockets his keys, ready for an attack, not even remotely interested in the topic.
"Something about how Y/N gave Mona a visit today" Signora muses, elegantly taking a seat on the arm of the couch, "with your date and all, I just thought you should know."
"Hah!" Scaramouche bursts out in laughter, tears in the corner of his eyes. "I can't believe she went to get a horoscope reading on how shitty your date's gonna be."
"Get castrated." Childe growls, flipping him off on both hands.
"Now now boys," Signora's lips curl, and she clasps both manicured hands together, prepared to break the fight if it ever reaches its peak. "Settle down. You two are comrades."
"As if I'm comrades with this SIMP!" Scaramouche has to wheeze out the words.
The youngest clenches his fists, unclenches, and then lets a smirk grow. "Oh? I'm the simp? What about that time Mona pantsed you in-front of all the freshmen and you fell in love with her."
Scaramouche glares at him, a glare strong enough to have anyone shaking in their shoes. "I'm attracted at her sheer audacity of trying to fuck I, Scaramouche, the 8th harbinger, over. It takes balls."
"Mad respect." Signora leans forward to place her phone on the coffee table, then approaches Childe. "Moving on, the reason I've decided to bestow my precious intel on you is because I have a favour to ask of you."
"What?" He says blankly, confused that she has a request for him out of all people.
"I need you to let me get you ready for this date of yours." She gives him a gaze that is enough to wither away any arguments.
Childe shares a look with Scaramouche as if to say "am I fucking deaf because I sure as shit didn't just hear that."
"You sure as hell did, boys." Signora intercepts the connection of their two brainwaves with a dreaded sigh. "I hate Y/N. This is the only way I can get back at her."
"Hey!" Childe exclaims loudly, waving his hands in the air incessantly. "What makes you think I'll let you shit on my future girlfriend."
"I'll be doing nothing of the sorts." She points out, giving him a sly smile. "I just know she's terrified of what's coming. The better the date is, the more she's gonna hate herself. What more do I need but to sprinkle some inner conflict within her airtight resolve?"
As favorable as the proposal is, Childe  contemplates for a second. Signora...helping him? This could work to his advantage if he plays his cards right.
His inner turmoil takes him into the future, where you two are happily married with eight and a half kids. If you ever managed to find out Signora was the culprit that was finally able to set you two up, you'd never forgive him.
"Nah I'll take a hard pass." He doesn't want to think about divorce and custody battles this early on. He'd rather face the brunt of Signora's wrath.
Scaramouche chooses right then to make a tactical withdrawal out through the window since he doesn't want to be a witness to a murder he hasn't caused.
Surprisingly— "Fine then." Signora shrugs, unbothered when summoning out a minty juul from no where. She's disappointed nonetheless.
Childe tilts his head, perplexed, but decides against mulling over it for too long. Instead, he strides off to the door, wanting to get the last two periods over with so he can run home and freshen up for this date.
"Oh and Childe?" Signora calls out to him, but he barely acknowledges her, only pausing momentarily without looking back. "A piece of friendly advice. A diligent student like Y/N, there's no way she'd be into rash things like fighting. So try and control yourself, hmm?"
He flashes the senior a sheepish smile, the front row tickets to the illegal underground fight-club burning in the back pocket of his pants.
Childe conceals near the bushes by the gate, expertly hiding his shaking hands by pretending to look for something in his back. His goal isn't to seem desperate, even though he's raced out here at the speed of light after Havria's dismissal.
It's not like he's trying to eavesdrop or anything. He just wants a little insight on how you're feeling about this, in case the rumors of you visiting the occult club wasn't a farce.
From his peripheral, he spots you and a familiar figure that is Lisa, leisurely walking side by side as you approach the main side walk.
"Ready for your date, Y/N? You've been daydreaming all afternoon." Lisa winks, and dodges the shove you send her way with experience like no other.
"Yes, daydreaming about punching you in the face." Your left eye twitches in annoyance as you fix your hold on your skateboard.
"Well then, I'll be off—ah!"
The gorilla grip you have on her sleeve takes away all the time she has to get on the last bus she's about to miss.
Your utter strength is enough to make Childe's knees weak. How pathetic he thinks.
"Oh no you don't," You say in a sing-song voice, "you got me into this, so you're going to help."
"Help with what?" Lisa fakes a hard pout as she bats her lashes, trying to collect pity points.
"I—" You inhale, loosening your grip on her and averting your eyes nervously to see if anyone's watching. "Don't make me say it."
The older girl motions for you to continue, and you're sure you've suffered more for less at this point.
"I've never...been on a..." The sentence ends in a trailed murmur.
Childe doesn't think he's ever seen you so flustered. He's about to snap a picture for later, but decides against it. They'll be plenty of moments later on to see your cute expressions.
Lisa's grin is both seductive and terrifying, Childe notices. "You've never been on a date?"
"Shut up!" You hiss, dropping your board so you can cover her lips with your palm, eyes darting around your surroundings frantically. "Not so loud."
He has to bite at his fist to hide his amusement.
As if she has a sixth sense, Lisa's eyes somehow find Childe's through the abundance of leaves, and there's a glint in her eyes that nearly makes him shart his pants.
"Of course Y/N," She replies sweetly to you, who is currently unaware of the staring match going on. "I'll teach you everything you need to know...and more."
Childe doesn't know if that's a good or bad thing. Nor does he want to find out.
You ponder on what's taking him so long, more on edge than you usually are. Thankfully, Lisa basically pried your hair down from its usual up-do. Said something about how you can hide your lack of shits given as to not offend him.
Except you think you're giving more shits that you expected to. Why else would your heart be pounding so hard?
"What took you so long?" You sense him creeping up on you, ceasing his chance to pounce.
Childe groans playfully and slaps a hand over his face as he comes into view. "How'd you know?"
"You have a douche-styled gait." You reply as you remove your gaze off your phone to approach him.
He's prepared to shoot a witty reply, but it dies halfway through his throat when he procures a good look at you. Your hair frames your face elegantly, eyes shining despite the tiredness that's so clear, all complete with a cooling spring dress that hugs you just right.
Mouth going dry, he forgets how to speak the common tongue, unable to tear his gaze off your form.
You shift in place awkwardly. "Uh are you okay? Looking a little...blank."
"Sorry—sorry just thinking." Childe stumbles over his words like the complete idiot and a half he is, berating himself countlessly on the inside. He regains his confidence once he spots the light dust on your cheeks. "You ready for the best date ever?"
"The best date huh?" It's the first time you smile today, and he swears his heart leaps in his rib cage. You're the prettiest thing he's ever laid his eyes on. "I'm ready. I better not be disappointed."
"I wouldn't dare disappoint, girlie." He feigns mock offence as dramatically as possible. "I'll show you how to have some real fun. Cool keychain by the way, for good luck?"
It's one of the charms Chongyun urged you to carry with you at all times to keep all forms of evil away.
"Yeah...something like that."
The two of you ease into the walk in a relatively comfortable fashion, contributing with lively chatter and a few jabs here and there. It's not awkward at all, not like you thought it would be. Your nerves loosen up, mind diverting from the roots of the stress of high school.
"—And you won't believe what Kaeya did the other day. I'm telling you there's something wrong with him because that SoundCloud rapper wannabe Venti goaded him into birdboxing through the hallways at lunch."
"And the son of a bitch did it?"
"The son of a bitch did it." Childe confirmed, gasping through his laughs as the two of you converse in psychobabble. "And guess who he bumped into?"
You're choking in laughter, tears in your eyes as you hunch over and shake. "He didn't. Childe—no he didn't."
"Straightttt into Diluc. And he had the balls to feel him up because he thought he bumped into a hot bab—"
Childe crashes into a sturdy chest and stumbles backwards towards you, but manages to catch his balance midway. Both of you freeze when faced with a buff guy from another school, bandages on his fist and a crooked smirk on his face.
Fuck. You think. Classic high school cliché.
Realizing he can't risk the remainder of this date when it hasn't even begun, Childe raises a hand in apology, aiming to be the bigger person instead of socking the kid in the face.
"Sorry. I wasn't looking." He offers to the guy, but you can tell he isn't buying any of it. There are about four more kids who group, a setup that isn't going to end in your favour.
"Hey punk. You don't remember me?" The upperclassmen barks out, glaring holes into your date.
You deadpan towards Childe, but he's too is racking his brain to remember. Ends up shrugging with no recollection.
"I have a list of names but they're in my other pants." Shit, what an a-grade reply. Now you know you're done for. "Listen dude, I'm kind of on a date and the vibe is going great. Don't ruin it."
"It's a good thing she's here to watch then!" The guy yells, stomping so that he's right in-front of Childe, ready to pounce. "You humiliated me in front of my gang last week. I'm here to rip you a new one."
Childe blinks, tries to remember, and when he doesn't, he grabs a wad full of cash from the his Fanny pack and throws it at the guy's feet.
Everyone's eyes bulge out of their sockets, including yours at the amount of money placed there casually on the crack of the dirty sidewalk.
"Hopefully this is enough for the damages." Childe offers, aiming to not further escalate the situation albeit how pissed he is right now. If you weren't here...well that would be another, much more violent story.
With a soft tug, Childe brings you close and begins to pass the guy, until he's abruptly stopped by a hand gripping his shoulder tightly.
"I don't think so!" The guys barks, and his lackeys move to surround you two. "You gotta pay taxes too buddy." Oh he's getting way too comfortable now.
A feral smile grows on Childe's face as he looks over his shoulder. "Oh?"
"Yeah shithead." The guy seethes, puffing out his chest to size him up.
Childe itches for a fight. He can no longer keep in the urge and is just about ready to raise a heavy fist, but is beaten by the sound of a loud thwack, and then a painful groan following.
There you are, standing in front of the trembling asshole, spinning your crossbody bag in circles like it's a nunchuck in all it's glory. There's a deadly glint in your eyes, pure, unadulterated vexation in your features.
If Childe could fall for you any harder, it's probably happening now. In that exact moment, his heart beats in his ears uncontrollably, and there's nothing but raw adoration that piles up all at once.
You're an angel of destruction, a force not to be reckoned with, and shit, you're the eye of the fucking storm.
Fire courses through your veins as you pulverize the guy with your bag, swinging with such expertise it has Childe in awe. "He may be an absolute idiot for not remembering—"
"Hey girlie you're killing me here!" Your date snaps out of his astonishment temporarily.
"—but you don't get to call him a shithead, you asshole!" You snarl angrily, gripping the handle of your bag tightly, decking everyone that lunges at you, letting out strings of curses with every hit. Every hit sends a flock of them either stumbling back in pain, or knocked out completely.
Childe doesn't even get a chance to lift a finger by the time you're done violating them with your heavy ass pink bag. Stands there like an absolute loser.
"Apologize." You pant, prepared to send another flurry of attacks at the leader, who is crawling away with a battered face. "Apologize or I'll—I'll fucking Russian neck tie your ass."
"S-sorry!" The guy whimpers out and tries not to piss his pants at the threat.
Childe is still in too much shock at the whole ordeal to reply, short circuiting.
Another thirty seconds pass until he registers the smaller hand waving in front of his face. He catches your cold hand through his haze, brings it closer.
Running a free hand through his locks, he doesn't hide his astonishment. "You're fucking gorgeous, girlie." He whistles lowly, eyeing you with a new kind of regard.
"I-I uh." Your face is all shades of red by now, the adrenaline from kicking ass wearing down. "Let's go."
"How is that bag so heavy?" One of the fallen gasps out in pain, clutching his ribs as he trembles on the floor. "Like a buh-brick."
A part of your zipper in open, and Childe briefly peeks out of morbid curiosity. His jaw slackens. "Is that a...no, it can't be."
"It's a brick." You murmur guiltily, gnawing at your bottom lip. "Just in case." Fingers tentatively play with the straps.
Childe is head over heels by now, all smitten as a foreign warmth bubbles up in his throat, and he's just about sure he'll puke his heart out.
His next words are picked out carefully. "There's an underground fight club going on—"
You lock and aim for his right kidney.
Worth a try, Childe thinks.
"SIKE. Joking—joking. Just a joke." He insists, gloved hands raised by his ears in defence.
Clicking your tongue, you scowl and rush past him.
It hasn't even been an hour and it's been the most exciting date Childe's ever experienced. When he sees your lips twitch, he knows it's the same for you as well.
"Are we going or not?" You mumble, avoiding eye contact, a tinge of red still decorating your cheeks.
Childe crumbles into his hands at your deadly duality. One that comes for his enemies and one that comes straight for his heart.

You knew you should have taken your car into the shop before your first day on the job. The smoke from the engine was seeping out of the sides on the hood and you could smell the burning of whatever it was that was heating up. That’s what you get though for thinking a Ford Cortina was the best choice of car.
Thankfully you managed to pull into the lot before your car wheezed to death. Pushing your foot down on the break, you held your breath as your foot went down, down, down - the car not slowing. The breaks were shit, the engine was shit, what about your car wasn’t shit? Glancing over at the dashboard, sitting in the middle, was the hula dancer your friend gave you before you left to take the job. That, that wasn’t shit.
When your car finally came to a stop, you cut the engine and pulled your keys out, leaning back in the seat as you stared ahead of you at the building. It was an old car garage that had been turned into a paper company. The main waiting room was turned into the secretary and front room while the garage had been turned into the news room where the reporters worked. It was fitting for what the paper’s beat was.
Looking over towards the passenger seat, you reached into the box that had your belongings and pulled out the newspaper clipping of the job offer.
RACING STRIPES NEWSPAPER IS LOOKING FOR NEW REPORTERS TO COVER THE UPCOMING FORMULA RACE SEASON - NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Not to boost your own ego, but you knew it wouldn’t be hard to get the job. With your four years of experience under your best and bachelor’s degree in Journalism, they’d be a fool to turn you away, especially if they were so desperate. You knew how to work in a room full of men, you’ve done it all your career so far - working in a room full of men eager to cover the next formula racing gossip, now that was the challenge.
If you were being honest with yourself, you weren’t too proud to be working for The Racing Stripes Co. They had a reputation of causing more trouble than they did good and hardly followed any journalistic ethics. You needed the money though, and getting in the middle of formula racing meant your name being shown. Maybe it was a little ridiculous, but as a woman - getting your name out there and showing men that you could do their job just as good, if not better, was what you aimed for.
So you found The Racing Stripes ad in the paper, gave them a call, got an interview, and hired on the spot. Today was your first day and you were going in guns blazing.
Opening the driver side door, you pushed the door open and grabbed your box of belongings before standing up, pulling your suede pants down a bit and shutting the door shut. Turning towards the building, you let out a deep breath before making your way across the lot and into the main waiting room.
The bell that was above the door rang when you pushed it open, smiling weakly as the older woman looked up from her desk, grinning towards you.
“Well, well, you must be the new reporter?” Standing up, she extended her hand out to shake. You quickly shuffled your box into your other hand, extending your right out to shake her’s, “I’m Regina, but please, call me Gina, all the boys around here do.”
Watching her step out from her desk, she pulled down her skirt a bit and tugged her sweater around her before looking you up and down, “Pants girl, huh? I would’ve taken you for the dress type.” She commented before walking towards the side door that led out to the garage.
Taken back, you opened your mouth and looked down at your own attire: loose flower blouse, suede pants, and dull heels. You thought you looked nice, maybe you were underdressed? When you looked up and realized she wasn’t there, you quickly rushed after her, catching the door before it shut in your face and into the garage, scanning the room at the desks that were lined up, voices talking over voices as some men screamed into the phone, scribbling notes down on loose leaf pieces of paper.
“Newcomer? Nah, we don’t know him. We only cover well-known faces - whoever this Lowdo person is, we don't know him, we ain’t coverin him...no I don’t wanna hear it, gimme a better name and then we’ll talk...fine, fine, I’ll see what the boss says, but don’t expect anything!”
When the phone slammed down and the man stood up, you tried to pull your attention away as Gina stopped at the empty desk, smiling towards you.
“Well, this is you. You’ll be across from David. He was the newest reporter before you,” She turned to David who was busy typing at his typewriter, not paying much attention to you as you sat your box of belongings down at the desk, “David, be good to her. It’s not everyday we get a lady around the journal.”
Before you could start getting your things out, you glanced over at Gina who seemed to linger. Raising an eyebrow, you felt her hands grab your arm, pulling you towards the back, “Before you get settled, I should probably let the boss know you’re here. He might have a story already lined up for you.”
You managed to snake your arm out of her grasp, trailing behind her as she went into the office first, the room filled heavily with smoke and the scent of cigars. Coughing, you waved the heavy smoke out of your face, shaking your head as you adjusted to the scent.
“Boss? It’s the new girl, she’s here.” Gina explained, stepping to the side to let you come in more. Standing beside Gina, your mouth twitched into a smile, looking ahead of you at your new boss - Hank Fezzold. He was a bigger gentleman, with a thick black mustache that drooped over his upper lip, his balding hair combed to one side, and a fat cigar hanging from his lips.
He seemed to take his time wrapping up with whatever it was he was doing. Finishing the cigar before crushing the rest of it into the ashtrap, clearing his throat and looking up at you and Gina.
“So, first day, huh?” You nodded and clasped your hands behind you, waiting for him to continue. He hummed in thought before looking at his desk, going through his papers, “Well, I imagine you know what the job entails? It’s not ethical, as I know you had mentioned in your interview, but it pays well and I think you can mind the code of ethics for a crisp bill, wouldn’t you say?”
You stifled a laughed and nodded, “I’m aware of the job, Mr. Fezzold - if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be here, would I?”
There was a moment of silence between the two of you, staring at one another before Gina finally stepped in, clearing her throat, “Well, Mr. Fezzold, if that’s all, I’m sure she’d like her story so she can get started, yes?”
Mr. Fezzold stared at you for a moment longer before finally nodding, “Yes, well, suppose you’re right, Gina. We are about to have our morning brief so you’ll get assigned a piece then, yes?”
You nodded once, mumbling a ‘yes sir’ before turning and heading out of the office, making your way back to your desk to get whatever you could out before the morning brief began.
⋆ ⋆ ⋆
You weren’t sure what to expect exactly when the morning brief began. At your old job, things were relatively hectic, but at least there was order. The Racing Stripes lived up to their reputation - messy, unordered, and pure chaos.
Everyone was screaming over one another from their desks, holding up papers of notes that they had gathered to try and convince Mr. Fezzold why they should cover the story they came up with. You rubbed the bridge of your nose, groaning at how loud the room was, the walls of the garage echoing. Mr. Fezzold seemed to have enough as well, slamming his fist against the desk that he was seated at.
“Enough! Bloody Mary, with this eagerness just to get a story going, you’d think you’d already have it all covered! I don’t give a damn if it’s been covered already, just get the fucking content out and we will work from there. We don’t know a single thing about this season yet, so gather what we can get and we’ll decide from there.”
It was the man from earlier who raised his hand, the one that you overheard on the phone. When Mr. Fezzold nodded for him to speak, frustrated by his sudden politeness, the man stood up and cleared his throat.
“I got a call earlier today, Mr. Fezzold, someone going on about some newcomer from Austria, Niko Laudo? I think that’s his name...they think he’s going to be an important figure this season, want us to cover him. I told them that we don’t cover nobodies, Sir, but I said I’d let you know about it.”
The room erupted in laughs, thinking it was crazy for the man to even suggest it. You didn’t see what the big deal was - newcomers often had more stories than known ones since they’re new and still getting their story out. Nobody seemed to want to take the story, and you thought maybe - maybe, this could be your big break.
Standing up, you cleared your throat to gain everyone’s attention, although that didn’t seem to work. Everyone was still laughing and teasing the man who pitched the idea, saying that he should take it if he’s so obsessed with the man. You bit your tongue, hoping that maybe you’d get a brief second of silence to finally tell them that you would take it. But it never came.
Finally having enough, you sighed and took a deep breath, “HEY!” You yelled over the men, watching as they all fell in silence, mouths gaped at the sudden outburst that came from you. Sighing, you cleared your throat and adjusted your posture, standing up, “I’ll take it. In my experience, you get a fresh face and they’ll give you double the stories of what you’re already getting from a big shot. Whoever this Niko Laudo man is, I’m sure the guy is right, maybe he is going to make a name for himself.”
Mr. Fezzold leaned back in his chair, taking a long drag from his new cigar before exhaling the smoke from his nose. With the cigar in between his index and middle finger, he shook it at you, a smirk toying on his lips.
“You got guts kid, I’ll give you that. But you’re new to covering formula racing - that theory might work for the town paper that you used to work at, but here what people wanna read about is who they already know. You throw out a nobody and the paper might as well be just thrown in the trash.”
You could feel your lips curve into a frown, not sure what to say next. You wanted to prove that you could do it, but it seemed like Mr. Fezzold and the rest of The Racing Stripes Co. were stuck in their own ways. Until Mr. Fezzold surprised you and the rest of the reporters in the room.
“I tell you what. You wanna get your big break here? Fine, I’ll give this to you. Cover him throughout the season and if you’re right on him and your stories do well, I’ll think about keeping you around.”
You smiled weakly and nodded, thanking him before watching as he nodded back, standing up after crushing his cigar in the ashtray and clapping his hands.
“Okay ladies, come on! Season is starting and we got stories to cover. I don’t want to see anyone slacking or else you can kiss your jobs goodbye, you hear?”
Scrambling to get started, reporters began dialing numbers and attempting to set up interviews. They already were steps ahead of you since they were covering racers from the previous seasons. While they were getting interviews, you were only starting to figure out how to get in touch with this Niko Laudo person. As you searched through papers and notes that the man, who’s name you learned to be Ted, gave you - you realized quickly that maybe you were in over your head.

Fic: National Trust
This started off as a microfic for @drarrymicrofic's song prompt Luna. It has the word moon in it, that's about as close as it got!
For the ornamental rotunda that Harry and Draco are sitting on, think this kind of thing.
Thanks to the lovely Mari (@onbeinganangel) for the beta and cheerleeding!
WC: 1041, rating: T.

“A gift shop?” Draco’s outraged voice echoed through the cavernous entrance hall. A group of schoolchildren paused, halfway up the ornate staircase, looking around curiously for the source of the outburst.
“You’re making a scene.”
“A gift shop, though?” he howled, even louder this time. Harry winced. Across the room, a baby started wailing, his mother looking over at Draco with a face like thunder. He appeared not to notice. “Selling jam and scarves and – and –” he turned, snatching a paper bag straight out of the hands of a man in a parka jacket and waving its contents in Harry’s face “– and novelty mugs, Harry!”
Harry placed a soothing hand on his arm, gently extracting the offending mug from his grip and handing it back to its bewildered owner.
“I told you it was a bad idea to come here,” he hissed. “You promised you’d behave yourself. No, Harry, I’ll be fine, I swear, you said.”
“I am fine!” Draco protested, voice still several notes higher than usual. “I didn’t realise that our breakfast room would now be a bloody gift shop, is all!”
Harry ushered him over towards the wall, leaning in close, his voice low and gentle. “Look, Draco, it’s okay. No one’s forcing you to do this. Let’s just get out of here, alright?”
Before Draco could respond, a crowd of tourists shoved roughly past them, headed by a chirpy guide holding a yellow umbrella high above her head, rattling off names and dates as she went.
“They gave up their ancestral seat in Parliament in the 18th century. In fact, the Malfoys were a very private family, preferring to spend their time hunting and fishing on their extensive lands rather than court the glitz and glamour of politics…”
Harry spluttered loudly, and the umbrella-waving lady turned, glowering at him. “Excuse me?” He waved an apologetic hand up at her as he bent forwards, hugging his ribs, wheezing with incredulous laughter.
“Now who’s making a scene?” grumbled Draco, tugging him over to the stairs.
***
“Really though. Are you alright?”
They sat on the top step of the rotunda overlooking the lake. The light was fading fast, the wind carrying the distant strains of excited screams as parents attempted to cajole, bribe or force their offspring away from the enormous adventure playground.
Harry unwrapped a Magnum he’d bought from the café (“the stable block, Harry, for pity’s sake!”) and held it out for Draco, who hummed his thanks, taking a messy bite. He’d complained bitterly and extensively for the first hour they’d spent wandering around the Manor. Harry had squeezed his hand indulgently and nodded pleasantly at nosy Muggles, only half-listening to Draco’s angry mutterings: curse-scars, you idiot, does that look remotely like fire damage to you? and: thank Merlin mother can’t see him walking over the Aubusson – she’d turn in her grave! and: honestly, Harry, you’d think they’d never seen an eighteenth century lit à la duchesse before!
Later on, though, somewhere around the time they’d wound up in front of the deep red rope cordoning off his own childhood bedroom, noisy tourists jostling them from behind and cameras clicking over their shoulders, Draco had lapsed into a thoughtful silence. It had lasted ever since, as Harry had led them out and around the gardens, a peaceful breeze across their faces and the sun setting slowly in the distance.
“I don’t know,” Draco said after a while, voice small and worn. “It’s just – it’s not how I remember it, I suppose. Or,” he looked up at Harry, eyes shining in the dark, “maybe it is, and that’s worse?” Harry wound a comforting arm around him. The cold was seeping into his thighs from where they touched the stone steps and he shivered, pulling Draco close against his side and handing over the ice cream stick for him to finish off.
Eventually, the last of the employees emerged from the Manor, setting a barking alarm and pulling the enormous front doors closed with a grunt. He shone a torch around the grounds for a while to check for any stragglers, before heading home. The moon hung bright in the sky now, reflecting off the surface of the lake. Draco’s face seemed paler than usual, otherworldly in its stillness. Harry nudged his head against his shoulder.
“Look, at least you know it’s being looked after, yeah?”
“I know. It’s not – I’m not sad exactly,” he said carefully. “It hasn’t really been my home for a very long time. And don’t think I can’t appreciate the irony of all this.” He huffed a tired laugh, gesturing over to the play area. “Besides all that, I really don’t think I’d have made a good Lord of the Manor.”
“I don’t know,” said Harry, slowly, trying to lighten the mood, “you’re always swanning around like a bloody Lord at my manor.” It worked, and he grinned, ducking to avoid Draco’s mock-offended shove.
“Thank you though,” Draco said seriously, after a minute, “for coming with me. I know I wasn’t… easy.”
“You’re never easy,” Harry replied, expression fond.
“Mmm. Shall we go?”
“Not just yet, I don’t think,” said Harry, quirking a playful eyebrow. He pulled a glossy brochure out of his pocket, flicking quickly through it. “There’s something else I – ah yes, here we go. The Temple of Diana. Built in 1760 by Xanthus Malfoy II and tucked away at the far end of the grounds, this classical rotunda boasts fifteen columns… blah blah… it was primarily used as a place to entertain his many lovers.” He rolled it up and shoved it back in his pocket, winking at Draco as he rose to his feet, gesturing to the door behind them. “So, I wondered if you fancied it. You know, you can be the wealthy nobleman, I’ll be the poor stable boy...”
Draco groaned, covering his face. “You’re awful.”
“I know. And yet…” he held out a hand to Draco, pulling him up, gathering him in close. He pressed a kiss to his nose, holding the door open with a teasing bow. “After you, my Lord.”
A reluctant smile spread across Draco’s face, even as he rolled his eyes.
“Maybe we don’t tell my father about the gift shop, though.”

“So are you like dating him, or what?”
“Nah, he’s not looking for a relationship and neither am I, really. We’re just friends with benefits.”
“Ah, so you’re usual deal? Got it.” There was a pause as both women stood in front of the bathroom mirror, reapplying their makeup. Sarsi just put on some more of that fruity lip gloss she adored. She was wearing a hot red dress. It didn’t have the plunging neckline down to her naval like she sometimes wore, though, but it was sleeveless and backless and the skirt barely grazed her thighs.
“Damn shame he’s not lookin’ for a relationship though,” her friend continued. “He’s hot.”
“Mm...” Sarsi agreed with a nod. “And the sex is pretty bomb too.”
“Girl, get outta here! You gonna make me mad jealous! I’ll see you out there,” her friend exclaimed. Sarsi grinned as she did just that, waving a little as she headed out the bathroom door. She went straight to where she’d last left him, smiling when she spotted him across the way.
Sarsi barely took two steps in his direction when she became concerned again, like she had been a moment ago. He’d been quiet and twitchy before, but this was different. She realized she should probably get him out of here when someone bumped into him. For a moment she thought an altercation was gonna break out because that guy was being an asshole and Leon looked like he’d had enough. The guy would have deserved it if Leon had wailed on him a bit, but he simply let go and began shoving his way through the crowd half a moment later.
“Leon!” She called after him, glancing at the guy who’d bumped into him.
Guess it’s up to me then.
Sarsi grabbed someone’s bloody mary, handing them a twenty from her dress to buy another, and marched past the dude that had nearly picked a fight. She poured the drink over his head as she passed him, barely glancing over her shoulder to catch a glimpse on the guys face before placing the cup down on a random table to catch up with Leon.
Sarsi stumbled through the exit door she had seen Leon go through to find him practically wheezing as he leaned against the wall of the building. She had seen panic attacks before, most of which were drug induced, so she was familiar with them. Had experienced one herself when she tried molly that one time, but she was pretty sure Leon hadn’t taken anything like that. This seemed pretty intense, and she had no idea what caused it. Still Sarsi was determined to help if that was at all possible.
“Hey, hey,” she approached him gently, shaking her head. Her voice was calm and steady as she gingerly took his other hand with both of her own, fingers barely grasping so he could pull it away if he needed. Her thumbs gently rubbing over his knuckles as she looked up at him, nothing but understanding in her brown eyes. “It’s fine. You don’t need to explain or say anything, just focus on breathing. Let’s get you out of this alleyway.”
She waited for him to respond before leading him out. Sarsi wanted to be careful about asking him too many questions, but she was trying to think of places to go that might help. She could only guess the noise inside had trigger something so maybe an empty park would be a good place. “I know of a park nearby. Should be empty this time of night. Would that be okay?”

Bonnie Bennett believed she'd finally discovered her good enough ending. Yet, like most things in her life good enough goes left and leaves her with another ending. Or, perhaps a fire beginning...Journey with everyone's favorite Bennett Witch to the Viking Era for much needed lessons in devotion, courtesy the Lothbrok brothers.
Disclaimer: Unfortunately, none of these characters belong to me. And to add unfairness to poetic injustice, neither does the shows or the books. However, I still intend to pull the characters' strings and make them dance, all while having a ball upsetting canon plot lines!
AN: Alright Bennett Fandom this one here is a bit different from what you're used to. Okay this one here is a bit different than I'm used to. Francesca has recently rediscovered Vikings and with it the sons of Ragnar. And don't you know she wouldn't rest until she brought our favorite Bennett Witch into their mess! As if our girl didn't already have her own problems. SMFH! So thanks to my lovely muse, here we are with a whole lot of trifling savagery that I'm just not so sure about. But as always I'll let you be the judge if this WIP lives to see another update. Flame it or acclaim it in comments.
“You know as much as I’ve savored the joy of tormenting you over the years-,” Klaus began.
“No,” Bonnie shook her head. She’d tried to go along with his final request. Really she did, but how could she? When in the end all he’d be was gone. “I’m sorry, bae. We’re not doing this.”
Rebekah’s eyes rolled. She released a drawn out exhale that hadn’t been necessary for her since wood ash and pointed stick tattoos were a thing. “Bonnie, don’t ruin this for him! Permit him whatever comfort he demands. He shoulders a burden you’d never be able to fathom. Can you not allow him to experience but one moment of grace? A moment Hope will undoubtedly cling to after he’s gone.”
“No, Rebekah! I’m not about to listen as the man I love gives us all a corny goodbye and pretend to be okay with it. And why the hell should Hope have a moment to cling to when she could have her father?” She gave her head another firm shake. “No, this is not okay with me,” her voice rose as she drilled visual holes through each of them. Klaus tried to shut her down with an arm around the shoulders but she curved him with a shrug, all while committing ocular homicide on him in the process. “So why the hell is it okay with you, Hybrid?” Her scorn riddled gaze darted from him back to his so called family. “Or any of you?”
“You must’ve been down on Bourbon sipping on that Absinthe again if you believe any of this shit is okay with us,” Marcel waved her off barely sparing her a glance. “We all just know Klaus is gonna do whatever Klaus wants no matter how any of us feels about it. The most dangerous place you can be when his mind’s made up is in his way. So I suggest you step out of it.”
Her neck snapped back as if she’d taken a two piece to the chin. “You think I’m afraid of the big bad wolf? I wasn’t at seventeen and if I thought for a second it would save him, I’d put his ass back in the dirt again. I take care of my own, Marcel. No matter the dangers or consequences,” she jabbed a thumb at her hybrid, “And make no mistake, that Original pain in the ass over there is mine.”
“Cute.” Marcel laughed as he rubbed at the corners of his mouth. “Bonnie, we’re his family. Each of us have known, feared, hated, respected, and loved him long before even your parents’ parents became an idea. Hell, even after everything he’s dragged me through, there’s not a drop of blood I wouldn’t bleed for him.”
“Then stand behind those words and do something, Marcel,” she pleaded, because at this point she wasn’t above begging for the only bright spot remaining in the dim bleakness that had become her life seven years before.
“What would you have us do, Bonnie?” Elijah questioned in a barely engaged tone.
Bonnie turned to consider him. A perpetual moroseness now cloaked the one she’d once believed to be noble. His arrogance hadn’t been quite the same since the restoration of his memories. More and more he’d begun to remind her of Finn. She squared her shoulders and straightened her spine. Since discovering what Klaus planned to do, she’d toyed with an idea she’d vowed never to indulge. Yet, under the weight of impossible desperation such vows could not stand.
“The eternal witch spell should be evoked,” she said.
“By whom?” Kol questioned. His chocolate browns moved from Freya to Hope. When both appeared to know less than him his disbelieving gawk returned to her. “You?!” Laughter burst from his mouth. “Oh Darling, I’ve witnessed that spell make a supernatural mess of the most talented witches to ever recite a chant. There’s only one destined to master the eternal witch incantation and her sorcery is said to be unmatched.” His knowing gaze drifted to Hope, and then back to her. “There’s no way you’re powerful enough to undertake the task. You’re not even the strongest witch on this block.”
Bonnie flinched. Damn it, if Kol hadn’t DOA’ed her pride. When the hell did he jump on the Bennett hate train? To hear how far his opinion of her plummeted sort of burned.
She nodded. “Okay, if not me why not Davina. You tend to enjoy blowing her horn. If she’s all you claim her to be, get her here. I’ll happily bow down if her being greater than me will save him.” She jerked her head in Klaus’ direction.
“No!” Marcel barked.
“Leave my wife out of this.” Kol zipped across the distance separating them to tower over her. His original face no longer concealed by his human deception.
Klaus rocketed forward to place himself between she and Kol. “Step away from my fiancé, baby brother. For if you harm her then you’ll be joining me in the afterlife. To hell with your bloody dagger and box.”
Ignoring Kol’s and Klaus’ dagger and the box bit, her distressed stare collided with Freya’s. “What about you? Will you help me save your brother?”
“Bonnie, that spell is much too dangerous. Even for me.” The blondes eyes offered her a thousand apologies but not one solution. “I’m sorry, but I can’t risk it…not now.”
Her desperation bottomed out to despair as her gaze took a hail Mary launch to the supposedly most powerful witch in the room. “Hope?”
The room erupted. You’d think she’d offered the girl a crack pipe. When she was Hope’s age she was taking down well…her dad.
“Bonnie!” Elijah yelled.
“This is madness,” Rebekah growled, taking a step in their direction. “Nik tell her!”
“We’ve already talked about this, Bekah.” Marcel shook his head and tugged Rebekah back to his side. “That doesn’t concern us.” Bonnie heard Marcel mutter.
Klaus spun away from Kol to regard her. He grabbed her face and cradled her cheeks in his palms. “Everything’s going to be alright, Love.” He whispered, before brushing his lips against hers. Liquid pain disturbed the stillness of his crystal blue stare and contradicted the hell out of his reassurance.
“How?” She tugged herself free of his grasp. “How’s everything going to be alright? You’ll be dead and then what? Life goes on? Fuck that! I’m not about to stand here and mourn a defeat I haven’t loss yet!” She whirled away and marched from the gathering. Her decision made.
Once out of sight, she hurried towards their bedroom. Inside, she closed the door and locked it. The barrier wouldn’t hold her hybrid, but the fraction of time it would provide may be all she needed to complete the spell. She fell to her knees next to the mattress. Carefully, she tugged the blanket from underneath the bed. The already prepared altar and ingredients slid out. She stared down at the athamae and exhaled. Second thoughts plagued her mental, but she shook them away. She’d come this far already. The time to bitch up and forget about it had come and gone. Now was the time to do and die, literally.
She picked up the dagger and called forth every ounce of mystical energy which bled through her veins. A swell of Bennett sorcery overwhelmed the room. Pictures rattled on the walls. The balcony doors blew open and the glass shattered. Furniture not nailed down whipped about the room like she’d caught a ride in a tornado. Steeling her nerves, she continued. She called forth her psychic energy, her huntress energy. Any and everything supernatural about her she offered to the Goddess of all in exchange for an eternity of knowledge and the fated eternal mate destined to help her defeat the Hollow.
After relinquishing her all to the Creator she sliced open her palm. Blood gushed from the wound and saturated the ingredients. A searing light illuminated the room. The bargain was struck and accepted. Now the sacrifice. She swallowed and raised the blade. Aiming it at the center of her chest, she closed her eyes.
“Bonnie, no!” Klaus’ voice penetrated the white noise blaring throughout the room. “Love, don’t do this. You won’t survive.”
She opened her eyes. He stood just beyond the enchantment circle, attempting to force his way into the barrier. “Neither will you if I don’t. Besides, if it doesn’t work I’d rather be in the ground anyway than breathe without you, Klaus.”
“Bonnie, please,” he pled as he dropped to his knees. He slammed his fist against the barrier. “Please, don’t do this. We’ll find another way. You have my word, Love!”
A sad smile flirted with her lips. “You’re lying, Klaus. If there was another way then it would already be the plan.” She plunged the blade into the cradle of her breasts. A piercing burn penetrated her chest.
“No!” Klaus’ bellow seared layers from her punctured heart. The storm of mystical energy whipping about ceased.
Her knees buckled. Klaus caught her before the ground could and cuddled her close. She attempted to talk, but a wheeze whistled pass her lips instead.
“No, Love, don’t speak.” He bit into his wrist and placed the bleeding extremity to her mouth. His blood might as well had been battery acid because she’d bet dollars to air it burned the same. Hacking coughs damn near shook her frame apart by the joints. “Why the sodding hell isn’t this working?”
“I-It’s the s-spell,” she managed to utter. “M-my death is the p-price of a-admission.”
Tears trickled from his eyes onto her face. “Why did I have to go and love you, Little Witch?” He demanded, looking beyond confused.
“B-Because its what we b-both needed at the time and no m-matter how this turns out I’ll always be indebted to you for giving me a reason. L-Love you, Hybrid…always and f-forever.” His face faded until nothing but darkness surrounded her.
Chapter 1
Disclaimer: Unfortunately, none of these characters belong to me. And to add unfairness to poetic injustice, neither does the shows or the books. However, I still intend to pull the characters' strings and make them dance, all while having a ball upsetting canon plot lines!
The abyss gave way to blinding lights. Bonnie squeezed her eyes shut. A cacophony of sounds battered her auditory senses. The eardrum rupturing racket nearly distracted her from the violent rocking motion. A violent rocking motion which would no doubt wrought absolute fuckery on her cyclic vomiting syndrome. Right along with the tang of salt-water, unwashed bodies, and rotten fish. The potpourri of funk came close to singeing the lining of her nostrils.
A familiar acrid burn tickled the back of her throat. On cue her belly spun a series of gold medal winning somersaults. Oh this was going to happen. Her lack of sight heightened her senses and made her that much more sensitive to all the upchuck factors swirling about her. Unable to continue to live in the darkest part of her denial and remain vomit free, she opened her eyes. The brightest day she'd ever had to tolerate greeted her light discriminating gaze. She closed her eyes once more. What in the extreme fuck? Was this some kind of hell dimension? Is that why she was only a five minute drive away from the damn sun? Oh Goddess no!
"Cade?!" She growled.
The acrid burn that flirted with the back of her throat developed a sour chunky consistency. Once again she forced her eyes open...and blinked. She was on a vessel that appeared to have hailed straight out of Vikings. Damning the unnecessary brightness and her afterlife in general, she turned and tossed up the entire contents of her stomach over the boats edge. The seafood gumbo from Rousseau's she loved nearly as much as Klaus shot from her mouth and floated one way while the wind and Hades' cruiser sailed her in another.
As gravity took her down exhaustion fucked her over. She rested her cheek on the boat's wooden ledge. Drops of putrid salt water splashed her face. Yet, her fucks to give was at a negative zero low. Not only was she dead, but more than likely so was Klaus. She'd failed him...she'd failed them. Not even eternity would be long enough to make that shit okay.
Bonnie's vision blurred. Her chest throbbed. She clawed at the pounding ache between her breasts. Goddess, it's a wonder her chest didn't have a gaping hole in it after everything her heart had lost. Shaking her latest failure from her thoughts, she turned to slouch back to the boat's floor. She then lifted her gaze to assess her surroundings. Various shades of irises gawked back at her. She froze. Oh damn! Just her luck the water was sacred. She opened her mouth to offer an apology, but snapped it closed. Wait...why the hell did everyone look like extras from the Last Kingdom?
Slowly, her gaze dropped from the filthy hairy men towering over her to what she wore. The burlap sack dress she donned stopped her ever ticking clock. And based on the breeze cooling her cakes, her La Perla's had opted to skip the journey to the other side. Her back teeth clenched. In what kind of after life had she been dropped? Was this some kind of Viking hell? Had she somehow been granted eternity with Klaus in his hereafter?
The shifting of bodies snaked her attention from Kanye's spring wear to the now parting beefy men. A sight which had her questioning her sanity emerged. Bjorn Lothbrok or at any rate the actor who portrayed him in Vikings. Was he dead and stuck on the Otherside also? Wait, was Alexander Ludwig even supernatural?
"You're not one of the slaves who was captured during the raid. One of your hue, I would've remembered." The head Viking in charge edge that resonated in Bjorn's or Alexander's voice snatched her from her contemplations. "How've you come to be upon this ship?" When she opened her mouth to speak the cold sharpened point of a sword pierced the hollow of her throat. "Speak to me of canards or sagas and I shall open your gullet."
She hesitated for a moment. What could she say? The truth would definitely get her neck split wide. "I-I'm not sure. Before...when I closed my eyes, I was somewhere else and now that I've opened them, I'm..." she glanced from the horror frozen faces of the crewmen to the beyond frightened slaves. The poor shackled souls huddled away from her in the ship crevices and corners on either side of her. She swallowed and allowed her gaze to return to Bjorn. "I'm here."
"Oh my god," she heard one of the slaves mutter in a tone that, to her surprise, sounded annoyed?
His scoff sliced the disbelief inspired silence in half. He withdrew the biting tip of his sword from her throat and sheathed it in the scabbard at his side. "Bind her hands to her feet and toss her over."
The ship erupted in a flurry of movement. Two overfed red-haired and even redder faced Viking men moved to grab her. She nearly projectile vomited her heart from her mouth.
"I know what I'm saying sounds apeshit, but I swear on everything I love, Alexander," she said slowly uttering the name and searching his face for a flare of recognition. When nothing sparked in his expression she stammered on, "I-I'm telling the truth. Please, you have to believe me, Bjorn!" A flicker of curiosity narrowed his glare. Bingo! "You can't let them kill me! Please, I don't wanna die again!"
"Halt!" He bellowed, raising a hand to stop the men from advancing, "How've you come to know of my name?"
Shit! She pressed her lips together as her mind flipped through a too short list of plausible explanations that wouldn't get her burned at a stake for witchcraft. "I-I've dreamt of you a-and of this moment." There, that didn't sound too bad. One thing she'd learned from Klaus, watching Vikings, and Google, is ancient Northman actually revered oracles and seers.
"You've dreamt of me?" He knelt before her, arresting her stare with a penetratingly incandescent blue gaze. At a deliberate methodical pace, his eyes crept over her face. Her lungs threatened to collapse under the thorough scrutiny. "Of this moment?" Unable to look anywhere other than in the irises that burned brighter than the now blazing sun, her head bobbed. A smile enticed the corners of his mouth. "Then why fear what you know will follow? Have you not prepared well to meet your fate?"
"Not if my fate resides at the bottom of the ocean," she said with a firm shake of the head, "That's an introduction I'd like to cur—avoid indefinitely."
His head tilted just so as he continued to regard her. "Name yourself."
"Bonnie Bennett," she answered.
A golden brow lifted. "Bonnie Bennett of where?"
"New-M-Mystic Falls...Bonnie Bennett of Mystic Falls."
"I have never heard of a land with such a name," he huddled a bit closer to her, "in which direction does your homeland lie?"
Before she could answer, thick gun metal gray clouds rolled across the azure sky and swallowed the glaring sun. A sonic boom exploded somewhere in the distance, while blue streaks of lightening zigzagged its way through the stodgy swirls of gloom. And if the situation wasn't already atom splitting serious, fat drops of rain and hail the size of golf balls began to pelt them.
"This storm is unnatural!" A seaman yelled.
"What in the name of Odin will become of us? None of us shall discover the gates of Valhalla at the bottom of the sea!" A ruddy face old man with a scraggly beard roared at anyone who appeared to be listening.
Another much younger seaman, maybe a little older than herself, turned an anxious stare on Bjorn. "Do you believe the All Father has forsaken us, Ironside?"
Bjorn opened his mouth to answer but was cut off by a blonde slave girl who pointed a finger in her direction, "It's her! Her very presence displeases the gods. You should heave her over and pray the sacrifice appeases them."
"You sound dumb as hell! It's no wonder you're in chains," Bonnie snapped, regretting her words as soon as they left her lips. Stupidity had nothing to do with forced captivity. Yet, that bitch had some damn nerve.
"No one will be heaving anyone over," Bjorn said, while standing from his crouch, "Raise the sails and provide the slaves with pails so they may began dumping water from the ship's floor."
A surge of magic thickened the air. The foreign sorcery incited something within her. Something unfamiliar. A bucket was pushed in her face. She took the wooden pail without looking away from the sea. The very stench of alien witchery agitated her own strange mystical energy. The fiery heat of her somehow altered super charged power practically scorched the inner lining of her veins as it raced through her vessels. Who would dare interrupt the supernatural and natural balance on this scale without justification? It was like using a heat seeking missile to take out a mosquito. Un-fucking-called for!
Instead of allowing the now aggressive powers within her the retribution it sought, she settled just to keep the occupants on the ship safe. So, while she dumped water from the boat's floor, she chanted under her breath. Soon, a protective shield formed around them in an elusive form of the previous sunny day. The Vikings and slaves alike erupted in praises to Odin.
"Yep," Bonnie forced a smile. "Praise Odin!"
"Come, Mystical One," Bjorn stood over her, his shadow casting her much needed shade.
Distrust and her impromptu guest starring role on a show which highlighted the fact that Vikings had no problems raping captives, raised her guards. Though realms out of her element, she was far from ignorant.
Her gaze moved over him in an attempt to size him up. "Where?"
"To the prow," He gestured towards the front of the ship before snatching the pail from her hands, and then tossing it aside. "I wish to learn more about you and this numinous land named Mystic Falls." When she took too long to follow he locked his hands behind his back and considered her. "If I wanted to lie with you then all I need do is have you. Do you believe anyone here would be minded to protect you?"
She lifted her chin as she glanced about the ship to see not one person watching them for concern purposes. Every eye she caught on them looked to be pre-historic Shade Room and TMZ reporters. If they had tea kettles back then they'd no doubt be ready to spill the damn things. No, Bjorn spoke the truth. No one on that confoundingly long boat would lift a calloused palm to help her.
"Alright." Exhaling, she stood and leveled him with a glare even a PMS'ing demon would be incapable of exacting. "But fair warning, no one on this ship can protect me better than me. And make no mistake, I'm not above defending my own honor."
He reached out and took her hand in his. "That is a certainty about you of which I'll never be mistaken, Bonnie Bennett of Mystic Falls."

So since I’ve dragged my way back to this blog I did some digging into my older DC works and came across this fic I was writing with a friend (one you guys will be hearing a lot about) that we never ended up finishing.
As an apology for my unexplained absence, I will be posting that WIP under the cut:
Today was one of those long, boring, humanish days that happen every once in a while— the sky was a cloudy white and grey, traffic was loud with a certain irritating buzz to it, and the people in the streets were rushing to their boring, absolutely dreadful everyday jobs. This did not make Mr Mxyzptlk happy. Who wanted to wake up at 6 A.M. on Monday for something so mundane and tedious as ringing up some disgusting vegetables? Blasphemy, absolutely forsaken bullcrap! He always despised boring, bland, no-fun-ever-happens days like these because nothing ever exciting happens, so he got an idea— a really, really splendid idea; an idea that makes the teapots whistle and hiss, the birds sing and screech, and his chaotic nature scream in joy and anarchy.
Because by this time tomorrow, when the sun sets and the twilight settles, and when the sun rises with the day horizoning, Mr Mxyzptlk’s favourite toys and puppets and everyone in-between are going to be a bit spun around and upside down. Man, it would be so genius and over-the-top and funny he’ll laugh and cry and slap his knee and maybe turn some innocent goober into a crow! Oh this day just got better, better than smokey skies with plentiful rain and the pitiful oddities who scream and kick and deem themselves “superheroes” until their fingers bleed red and their face slack-and-blue!  Oh, so much better . . .
The first one to discover what the mischievous imp had done was Oliver Queen, who woke up to the sound of rapid-fire knocks on his bedroom door. Did Roy or Dinah come back or am I hallucinating again?
“Father, Todd has arrived unexpectedly and is tormenting Alfred, do I have your granted permission to maim him?” an unfamiliar young voice asked from the other side of the door.  Definitely hallucinating; need more sleep or Bruce to one punch me.
Tiredly, the archer replied, “Ugh, go for it,” before turning over and sinking his face in the soft pillow.  His consciousness was drifting into sleep again, his vision was blurring the nearby surroundings, and somewhere in his brain there was a dull pulsing ache that he wanted to bang his head in to make it stop. Fuck, who did I fight and get a concussion from again?  This is getting old . . .
He felt himself dozing off before he heard the most terrified, Bloody-Mary scream of his life.  His eyes shot open and he groaned. Fuck, Dinah’s gonna kill me! He hurriedly shuffled out of his bed (with new black decor), stubbed his toe on the bedside table (that was a dark oak, antique, and held more picture frames than it could possibly fit), nearly face plants into the floor (the cleanliness was nearly obsessive), and yanked the door open with a force of a Canary Cry.
That was the moment Oliver Queen realised something was up and not right. The hallway before him looked like a part of some weird paradox; too many door frames, different carpet patterns, unique window styles. Plus, he was only in his boxers. He knew for a fact that itself was strange for himself. Nevertheless, he decided ‘fuck it what more can hurt’ and sprinted down the tall velvet stairs to try and stop an attempted murder he may or may not be an accomplice in.
In the middle of the foyer that looked very clean for a welcoming area, there was a small, angry child who barely reached Oliver’s elbows, a tired old man dressed very elegantly for a Monday, a laughing adult with a white tuft of hair, and the infamous Catwoman who was leaning casually on the wall sipping her coffee. Oliver was certain he looked a bit foolish when he reached the bottom of the stairs and everyone was staring at him, even the murderous toddler, “Don’t,” he wheezed, out of breath, “don’t stab anyone!” he was able to huff out.
There was silence before suddenly the guy he’s pretty sure is Todd or Pennyworth started to laugh uncontrollably, “B! You look like an idiot!” He grinned as he pointed straight at Oliver.
“Who the f-” Oliver’s question was interrupted by Alfred who cleared his throat loudly, “Master Bruce, you should go and get prepared for the day, I have everything handled here.” Oliver’s pretty sure Alfred glared at the angry child by the end there.
Oliver was halfway up the stairs before he realised something, “Wait- did you just call me B? B as in Batman?” He questioned with a confused expression on his face.
Everyone then looked at him quizzically, including the now less angry toddler, before someone spoke up, “Did he get a concussion last night?” Cat lady spoke up as she walked towards him with her coffee still in her hands.
“Nothing happened last night, it was the same patrol as usual.” Damian informed while sheathing his katana, which made Oliver yell at Bruce in his head for letting a child carry a weapon like that.
The room was silent again, only to be interrupted by a loud, shrill meow, “You’re back!” Jason let out an excited squeal upon seeing the cat who just kinda appeared out of nowhere.
As soon as the cat saw Jason though they sprinted back from where they came which displeased the literal murderer, “No! Come back!” Jason yelled before running after the, probably scared, cat.
“No! Leave Alfred Pennyworth alone!” The now angry again toddler unsheathed his katana and ran after the past Robin with what looked like intent to kill.
That leaves just Selina Kyle, Alfred Pennyworth and Oliver Queen, who was very confused about the cat being named Alfred Pennyworth, “So… Uh… I’m, like, ninety percent sure I’m not meant to be here.” He awkwardly gestured to himself as he spoke.
Cat lady and the butler shared one look between themselves before Alfred spoke again, “That is most definitely not Master Bruce.”
“Don’t know why you’d think I was him in the first place but okay-”

I’m a raging sack of shit, but I accidentally deleted a request. I’m really lucky that I still have it copied in Word. The request was the following:
Heyyy, how are you, you wonderful human being? I found this blog this morning and I'm in love with your writings 💘 Can I maybe make a request? A scenario where Kanda's so went on a mission and went missing. Like a huge battle took place, everything was destroyed, so was thought to be dead for a couple months. But suddenly shescomes back to the Orden all covered in bandages with a scar on her face, still limping, turns out she was seriously wounded and was in a coma like state all this time
Hi ok so like, I am so sorry that this took me months to get around to. If you follow me, you’ve probably seen my posts whining about my depression, my work schedule, and my surgeries and such. But I still feel like a literal piece of human garbage that I couldn’t spare an hour or so to do this. I am hoping that it’s good enough that it’s worth that wait??
Ok so like it’s garbage but my brain won’t do more than this so....my bad dawg.
Tumblr media
Were days always this long? It seemed as though each day was longer than the last.
Yu Kanda spent every second that he was awake—which was most of them, as sleep seemed to enjoy eluding him—doing something to keep himself occupied. If he didn’t, he’d suddenly remember the way your hair smelled when your head was tucked against his chest, arms warm as they wrapped around him in the comfort of one of their beds. He’d remember the way you’d grin as you moved, lightning fast, to snag some tempura from his tray at mealtimes. He'd remember the way that when he sulked walking through the rain on a mission, you'd laugh and dance in it, oblivious to the water soaking your clothing.
He’d remember the way that he couldn’t save you.
Kanda had yelled your name when the blast went off as he charged towards you.
But he hadn’t been fast enough. He hadn't been fucking fast enough.
The blast went off and threw his body back, in the opposite direction of where you stood.
When it was over, he had dragged his bloody and broken body through the wreckage shouting your name as his ears rang. He had thrashed in the grasp of the Finders who picked him up. He had screamed at them to let go, that he needed to find you.
Before he could argue further, darkness had taken him and kept him from searching you out.
He had woken up in a medical cot, immediately rasping out your name.
And his eyes had gone wide in disbelief when the Finders told him that your body had never been recovered.
It had been about four months since that day.
It had been four months of darkness for him.
He hadn’t spoken to anybody if he didn’t have to. He performed his missions dutifully and well. But he spoke to nobody.
And after a few weeks, everybody had given up. Lavi didn’t tease him. Allen didn’t pick fights. Even Lenalee and Marie kept their distance.
It was the empty look in his eyes that kept them away. No one could bear to see him this way.
And he was glad for that. He couldn’t find the energy to socialize. He had never liked socializing, but he felt so empty that the thought of even trying to talk to anybody about anything left him exhausted.
He couldn’t even drag himself to the cafeteria to eat. He had originally thought that maybe he’d waste away. And that would be welcome; if he wasted away to nothingness, would he be free of this pain?
Someone had left trays of soba noodles in front of his door every day. He wasn't sure who it was, though he suspected it to have been Lenalee. But he didn't care either. After a few days, he had given in to eating a few scant bites of what his favorite meal had once been. His body’s will to live appeared to be stronger than his mind’s, unfortunately for him.
Today he stood before Komui’s desk giving his report. He had just returned from a mission in India that had gone smoothly, save for the flashbacks of you fighting along his side. He hated how used to those he was getting; at first, they had nearly left him paralyzed. But now he was so numb to his own pain that the flashbacks were hardly more than a nuisance that he just had to work around.
Komui smiled as he nodded, though it didn’t reach his eyes. He had tried, at first, to rouse Kanda. He would enter Kanda’s room each morning, with a mug of white tea in hand, only to find that the one that he had left on Kanda’s nightstand the morning before sat there, full. But like everybody else, he had given up after some time.
He heard the door to the room open behind him. But Kanda continued to talk, as he had no intentions of being interrupted. The faster he finished his report, the faster he could return to the solace of his cold, desolate room.
But he saw the way Komui’s eyes went wide. He watched curiously as Komui dropped the pen that he had been tapping against his lip. The sound of it clacking onto his desk was suddenly deafening.
He turned slowly and when he saw you standing there, he blinked. Was he hallucinating? He often pictured lotus flowers everywhere. And that woman. And Alma.
There was a visage of you standing in the doorway, your hands folded down in front of yourself. You wore street clothes. Your expression was a blend of astonishment and affection.
But the room seemed to light up around your frame. Colors were brighter, more vibrant. The room felt warmer—not hot, just comfortably warm. The kind of warmth you got on a winter’s day when you curled up in front of a fire.
You were real.
“Kanda.” You gasped out, tears forming in your eyes at the sight of him.
Time seemed to stand still, as cliché was it was, as he stared at you. His eyes were wide, his brows a little furrowed. His lips were parted as a silent gasp escaped them.
Why were you standing here? Where had you been? You were alive?
Kanda’s body moved faster than his brain could think. He took long, quick strides across the room towards you.
You began to smile at him. In your time away, you had missed a lot of things.
But you had missed Kanda the most. There was no competition.
You yelped when his hand wrapped harshly around your upper arm and continued to storm, spinning you around and then dragging you with him as he left the room.
You ground your feet into the ground, slapped at his arm, and yanked your arm as hard as you could to try and free yourself. “Kanda!” You barked out.
He whipped around then, the movement so quick his ponytail flew behind him like a whip and you fell back against the wall. You stared up at him with large, wet eyes.
“You’re alive?” He breathed the words out, and his eyes widened as he said them, as though he were shocked by them.
You weren’t given a chance to answer before his hands were cupping your face. His thumbs grazed slowly over your face, as if he were trying to make sure you were real, that you really were there. He had to feel you, he had to make sure. He doubted his heart could take it if this was just an illusion.
You gave a wet laugh as you leaned your head into one of his hands and smiled. “I’m here, Kanda.”
His thumb grazed over the pink scar that marred your face. His brows furrowed, and you realized it was with hurt. He had been protective of you since you guys realized that you were more than just allies. His eyes flickered down, and he realized that your body was covered in all sorts of healed injuries. All sorts of scars. You watched the way that his lips twisted into a snarl. You knew him well enough to know that he was thinking violent thoughts about those who had blemished your body so.
It was your turn to celebrate your return. You had zero intentions of letting your injuries stop you from your reunion. Before he could comment on the wounds, you cupped his face in your own hands as you leaned onto your toes. You pressed your lips to his softly, smiling and humming to yourself. It was familiar, as though it hadn’t been months since you had done it.
He returned the kiss feverishly, as though he were afraid that he’d never get to do it again. But he drew himself back after only a few moments, resting his forehead against yours.
“Yeah, you’re here.” He smiled. You felt tears roll down your face in response to it. Even you had never been graced with the presence of his smile very often. But here it was.
You moved your hands to cup over his. “Let’s go back to your room. I want to catch up. In more ways than one.” You smiled deviously and Kanda laughed. He laughed. It was more of a bark mixed with a wheeze, as though it had been so long since he had laughed that his throat had forgotten how to do it. But you could see through his smile and the way his eyes were lit up what it was.
Your home was the Order.
His was home in your company, in your warmth.
Now he was home.
He didn’t think he’d ever be home again.
And he’d make sure that he never lost his home again. He swore it to himself.

jhgfdfghjkhgf i was going to just post this in the video’s comment section but for some reason that’s not working so here’re act one of the william and mary play:
Mary: Look, you’re my best friend, okay? And, um, best friends tell each other everything, right? Oh my god. Excuse me. Oh, Maria Regina, it was awful! He was awful, William, my Dutch cousin, or as father likes to call him “the Dutch Dog” *laughs*… I had the honor of being forced to dine with the extended family. My little Dutch cousin William– and was he rude! Oh my god. He spent the entire meal either staring at me or grimacing at the food. No manners. And he’s old too, like, at least thirty, not that you’d know by looking at him, he’s very short, but old enough to know better, and all that I could hear the entire time was his breathing– no, no, no– wheezing, with his tiny little child-sized mouth. *imitates wheezing* [indecipherable] –cause he had [indecipherable] big monster of a nose to use, but I guess that was out of commission. And King Charles II– God save him– and all twelve of his spaniels, seated at the table, eating off of the plates– how am I related to these people?
Anne: Mary!
Mary: Shh! Shh! My sister! We’re fighting! Oh god. Uncle Charles– God save him– William... ew. I’ve never fit in with this entire family and now I find out that my sister’s been ta… my sister– No, no I will not stand here and idly gossip. My sister– no. Sh– no. Sh– no. Sh– nope! Betty!
Betty: Yes, your ladyship?
Mary: Um, take Maria Regina will you?
Betty: Yes, your ladyship. Anne has been screaming for you, your ladyship.
Mary: Yes, tell her I’m dead.
Betty: Yes, your ladyship.
Mary: No, don’t, that’ll get her hopes up. Tell her that I’m resting– exhausted from a fascinating dinner with our exotic Dutch cousin.
Betty: Yes, your ladyship.
Mary: And I can trust you all? Oh, um, and would you bring me an ink, pen, and paper?
Betty: Yes, your ladyship.
Mary: How’s this? Dearest, dear, dear, dear, dear, dear... girlfriend– no, no, no... lover– no, too saucy– um... husband? Yeah… it’s a woman, but we’re gonna call her a husband. Don’t get confused! Um, dearest husband, after my prayers to all-mighty God, I’ve come to make peace with you, for it is a strange thing for a man and a wife to quarrel. What more can I say to prove that I love with more zeal than any lover can? You are loved with a love never known by man–
Anne: Mary!
Mary: You are loved more than can be expressed–
Anne: Mary!
Mary: By your ever-obedient–
Anne: Mary!
Mary: SHUT UP!! –wife. But to my great sorrow, I find out that you’ve been corresponding with *whispered* my sister!
Anne: Mary!
Mary: Shut up! Oh, to be your humble servant! To kiss the ground where you go–
Anne: What are you doing?!
Mary: Shut up! Oh, to be your dog on a string, your fish in a net, your limber trout–
Anne: She writes me too, you know!
Mary: No, she doesn’t!
Anne: Yes, she does!
Mary: Shut up! [indecipherable] If my letter has made the effect, dear “husband”, on your hard ear, I may without scruple call you my dearest, dear, dear, dear, dear, dear, dear, dear husband.
Anne: She is not your husband and your letter to her are weird. Also, she sends me letters and calls me her husband and loves me more than she loves you and you’re a lesbian!
Mary: That word doesn’t even exist yet, Anne!
Anne: Lesbian!
Mary: Keep your voice down!
Anne: She writes me more letters.
Mary: Our love is forbidden.
Anne: Get over yourself!
Mary: She knows unlike you I’ll be queen!
Anne: Whatever. I don’t care. I don’t even want to be queen.
Mary: Oh, good, cause you never will be.
Anne: Of course I will! When your head gets so damned big from all the bullshit praise, even your ugly, masculine, lesbian neck won’t be able to support its weight. Snap! And your head will fall off, like our poor headless grandpa Charles–
Mary and Anne: God save him!
Mary: To imagine the death of a monarch is treason, I could look you in the Tower.
Anne: You couldn’t!
Mary: When I’m queen.
Anne: You wouldn’t!
Mary: I could!
Anne: Nu-uh!
Mary: Uh-huh!
Anne: You wouldn’t be the first queen to do that to a little sister.
Mary: Well, you came in here and started it.
Anne: I know. I have something to tell you.
Mary: You could’ve waited!
Anne: I have a memory. About mummy.
Mary: Did you? Really? Would you tell me?
Anne: When we knew she wouldn’t make it much longer, she asked me to come to her bedside. She had just got her blood let, so she was speaking very openly.
Mary: It’s okay, Anne!
Anne: She asked me “Do you know why I named your older sister Mary but named you after me?”
Mary: Why?
Anne: Mummy said… “Because prefer you to that bitch older sister!”
Mary: Leave!
Anne: Mom liked me more!
Mary: I was named after a queen!
Anne: Yeah, Bloody Mary! “Oh, look at me! I’m named after a fat, bloated Tudor Catholic!”
Mary and Anne: *spit*
Mary: Leave!
Anne: I just came in here to ask how dinner went.
Mary: It was lovely. Leave!
Anne: Was it? I bet it was boring.
Mary: Only for a child but when you’re fifteen years old you appreciate stimulating conversation!
Anne: [indecipherable]
Mary: Good!
Anne: Was he… stimulating?
Mary: Ew! I mean… yes.
Anne: What was he like?
Mary: Tall, dark, handsome.
Anne: Really? Tall, dark, and handsome?
Mary: Mmyeah.
Anne: I’m jealous.
Mary: You should be.
Anne: Did he stare at you?
Mary: What? No.
Anne: I guess he wouldn’t. Not after what I have heard.
Mary: Oh, I don’t even want to hear your idle gossip– what did you hear?
Anne: Oh, it’s just that father told me that Uncle Charles–
Mary and Anne: God save him!
Anne: –Tried to marry you off to him.
Mary: What?
Anne: For some Dutch alliance.
Mary: What?
Anne: Yeah. He turned you down though.
Mary: He turned me down?
Anne: Three times.
Mary: What?
Anne: And here I was going to come in and make fun of you! I thought William was a tiny little goblin man. That would’ve been so embarrassing!
Mary: Right…
Anne: If you were turned down by an ugly little goblin man.
Mary: Right…
Anne: Three times!
Mary: Leave!
Anne: Why?
Mary: Leave!
Anne: I thought he was stimulating!
Mary: I want to be alone!
Anne: Mary the Martyr, you’re so weird! Maybe you’ll actually fit in if you didn’t lock yourself in your room all the time writing creepy letters. Some queen you’ll be! You’re friends with a fish!
Mary: Well, I will be queen whether I want to or not!
Anne: Mary the Martyr, you’re engaged to Louis the fucking XIV, what right do you have to be mad at me?
Mary: ...Have you seen the latest portrait of Louis?
Anne: Yeah!
Mary and Anne: *squee*
Anne: He’s fucking gorgeous! Even for a Catholic!
Mary and Anne: *spit*
Anne: Milky skin, so fucking rich! Full deep eyes, tight little French ass…
Mary: Anne! God is listening!
Anne: [indecipherable] I’m just appreciating the work! Those portraits are rarely accurate though. You saw the portrait of Uncle Charles–
Mary and Anne: God save him!
Anne: –He looked like a Roman god dipped in oil.
Mary: What?
Anne: He glistened Mary! Like a buttered up Roman statue! In reality, he looks more like butter. Well… butter with syphilis.
Mary: Oh my god, you can be quite cruel Anne.
Anne: I’m destined to marry one of our fat, inbred cousins, so I’m allowed to be.
Mary: Sorry.
Anne: Yeah, it’s whatever. Well, I’m going! Unlike you I actually have friends to hang out with.
Mary: Oh, bad company ruins good morals.
Anne: Fuck you! See you at dinner.
Mary: That’s why that little Dutch dwarf was staring at me. Oh my God, could you imagine that tiny, wheezing little man crawling into your bed every night– oh my god, it’s an offensive thought! But the most offensive part? He said no! He said no to me! Oh my God, the man is a slug! William of Orange– blegh! And Uncle Charles– God save him– tried to make me marry that, not that I would’ve! No! I would’ve told him off, right to his face. I’m not afraid of him! I will not be made a sacrificial lamb. I would’ve told him off to his face! Right to his tiny, regal, little mustache: “No, Uncle! You may be king, but I will not marry that creature! Put me in chains; lock me in the Tower; feed me to the ghost of Cromwell; I absolutely refuse to marry that creature!” I would’ve told him off. I will not be made a sacrificial lamb!
*fanfare*
Mary: Oh, Jesus Christ.
Betty: Your uncle, King Charles II– God save him– is here your ladyship.
Mary: Okay, send him in.
Betty: Yes, your ladyship.
*dogs yapping*
Charles: Quiet, quiet, quiet! [indecipherable] Good doggy-woggys! Now, niece!
Mary: Oh, Uncle, God save you–
Charles: Rise dear! You’re one of the few girls at court I’d rather not see on her knees.
Mary: Oh– ew.
Charles: Oyster?
Groom of the Stool: Yes, your majesty! *grunting*
Charles: I’ve just come from your mother and father’s apartments.
Mary: She’s not my mother.
Charles: Charming lady, your new mummy. She’s got those bovine hips, so I assume she’ll be plopping out heirs as soon as James’ dousing rod directs her away from foreign [indecipherable].
Mary: Oh my God.
Charles: Oyster?
Groom of the Stool: Yes, your majesty! *grunting*
Charles: If God is good– and we know he is– she’ll give birth to a few boys before she’s spent. Women are quite fragile, as you know Mary. It’s especially hard with our good Stuart stock and– Oh, Dicky, no, no hump, no hump, daddy has a [indecipherable]. Might we can hope for a few younger brothers– you’d like that, wouldn’t you Mary?
Mary: Oh, yes, dear uncle. How I love being an older sister to our dear, simple Anne and how I’d revel in the opportunity to be an older sister again.
Charles: Oyster?
Groom of the Stool: Yes, your majesty! *grunting*
Charles: [indecipherable] England [indecipherable] worry that another woman would take the throne.
Mary: Yes, poor England.
Charles: Yes.
Mary: Ah, ah, ah, ah!
Charles: Dicky! If that heifer can squeeze out just one little boy, England is saved! Oh, Mary, you see it’s not that women shouldn’t be involved in politics, it’s that they can’t. Their brains aren’t built for it! I don’t even know if you can comprehend what I’m saying to you right now!
Mary: I’m lost.
Charles: Yes, I assumed so. Oyster?
Groom of the Stool: Yes, your majesty! *grunting*
Charles: *chocking, spits* [indecipherable] Go on, up! [indecipherable] Now, where were we? Yes– women are not fit to rule.
Mary: Sorry, once more.
Charles: I am king.
Mary: You are king.
Charles: I am a great king.
Mary: You are a great king.
Charles: Women… cannot be kings.
Mary: No, they’re queens.
Charles: …Very good Mary! I’m very proud. That’s a real thought you just had!
Mary: I’m lost again.
Charles: So, if I am king and women…?
Mary: Can’t be kings.
Charles: Then women…?
Mary: Can’t be great kings?
Charles: Exactly! I am very impressed with your understanding of Restoration politics. As king, I’ve found it requires tremendous subtlety. OW! Dicky, get off! Dicky, don’t let–! God, you bastard! Bite that hand that feeds you, ey? Groom of the Stool!
Groom of the Stool: Yes, your majesty?
Charles: Lock him in the Tower!
Groom of the Stool: Yes, your majesty.
Charles: You made a big mistake, Dicky! No [indecipherable] bites a sovereign.
Groom of the Stool: Yes, your majesty!
Charles: Now, let us break our conversation into greater areas regarding your sex.
Mary: Ah, like needle crappy gossip.
Charles: And… boys.
Mary: Ah, yes, boys.
Charles: And… marriage.
Mary: Ah, yes, my purpose in life.
Charles: You a beautiful Stuart girl– Protestant– a large Protestant wedding to a regal, Protestant husband.
Mary: No, ha, Louis’ Catholic.
Charles: Louis? Yes, he’s Catholic.
Mary: Right, but you just said–
Charles: You, a beautiful Stuart girl–
Mary: Oh no!
Charles: A large Protestant wedding–
Mary: Oh, god!
Charles: To a regal–
Mary: No!
Charles: Protestant...
Mary: Please!
Charles: Did you enjoy dinner last night? You [indecipherable] to impressed your cousin.
Mary: No.
Charles: William! Were you taken by him, Mary?
Mary: *bahing*
Charles: He was very taken by you.
Mary: *bahing*
Charles: Your first cousin, so you’ll have a lot in common!
Mary: *bahing*
Charles: My dead sister’s boy! She was a real bitch.
Mary: *bahing*
Charles: And you’ll have the line of succession, so you won’t have to worry about being queen, Mary. William can handle it. Sorry he’s such a cold, ugly bastard.
Mary: *spluttering*
Charles: Your Catholic father *spits* is pissed. Not surprising, but I ordered him to shut the fuck up about it. The wedding is next week. La~!
Mary: Wait! Anne!
Charles: Oh, you’re too thoughtful, dear girl! Anne will be fine on her own.
Mary: No, no, no, marry Anne off to William!
Charles: Certainly not! You’re next in line after your idiot father. We’ll marry Anne off to one of the fat, inbred cousins.
Mary: But I learned French!
Charles: And now you’ll get to learn Dutch! It’s not a beautiful language, but it matches the people. The king exits!
Mary: *sobbing*
*church music / exert of “Aria” by Marco Rosano*
Priest: Gathered! His Royal Highness Charles II!
Ensemble: GOD SAVE HIM!
Priest: The bride’s father James (the eventual second)– what? Your father refused to attend!
Mary: *sobbing*
Priest: We are gathered today in the eyes of our Protestant God to witness the eternal joining of two people, and more importantly, two nations. Our beloved England and our at-least-for-the-time-being-not-enemy Holland.
*fanfare*
Priest: The Dutch Stand Stadtholder! ...William? ...The Prince of Orange!
William: *violent coughing*
Priest: William? You good?
William: Ja.
Priest: Do you need a minute?
William: [indecipherable]
Priest: Okay! So… the, uh… the Dutch Stadtholder! The Prince of Orang– William?
William: *violent coughing* [indecipherable]
Priest: We are gathered– we are– we’re gathered– we are gathered– gathered– and we are gathered–
William: [Dutch word]
Priest: Pardon?
William: [Dutch word]
Priest: Sorry, I–
William: [Dutch word], stepping [Dutch word].
Priest: Oh, yes. *groaning* NOW! We are gathered for the joining of two people, two nations, and one [indecipherable] faith. Do you, Mary, take a solemn vow to obey and honor William until you’re parted by death? Okay, good. Do you, William, take a solemn vow to take Mary as your bride and treat her with whatever respect you happen to feel like showing her? Alright, whoo! You’re all good in here. You may kiss the bride.
William: *violent coughing*
*retro dance music* / exert of “Oh! Oh! I'm Goin' Home” by The Peppers
Mary: Wow. Midnight. Where did the time go?
William: Time for bed.
Mary: Right. Yup. Time for bed. It’s late and… it’s late and… it’s late and… it’s time for bed and there’s the bed, it’s time for bed and… we’re married now.
Charles: Now, nephew! To your purpose! God save Saint George and England! *giggling*
Mary: Right, historically, um, all of that actually happened. Well– oh, sorry, I was talking to someone else. Well, I guess it’s late, right? It’s late and it’s, um, time to go do– time to do– time to go do do do do do do do do doing of it. Ah! Wow. A ring… Is it for me? …Should I take it? …I’ll take it. Wow… a ruby… yes, ruby– rubies are very– rubies are red! Red. Rubies are… pink actually, now that I look at it. Funny, they’re really much more pink. Everyone always says “ruby red” but they’re much more pink when you look at it, oh look at that, it’s–
William: My mother’s.
Mary: Your mother’s? Wow. Beautiful. Ring. That was your mother’s. Ring, ruby, ring, ruby, ring–
William: She’s dead.
Mary: What? Oh, I’m sorry. About that– that she’s dead. What happened? Sorry! No, none of my business. Poor Mum! Um, my mom is dead. Died when I was a child so… I know what it’s like. To have a dead mum. *awkward laughter*
William: You don’t have to smile for me. You don’t have to pretend.
Mary: Dearest dear, dear, dear, dear, dear, dear husband– this is the woman again, um... You’ll find a pair of horns on your front door for… it appears I’ve taken another husband. Hm…
*whistle*
Anne: I brought you a going-away present. It’s another goldfish.
Mary: Thank you, sister.
Anne: I knew you already that one, so you’d like it. I hope they don’t eat each other. Do goldfish eat each other? Is it a long trip to Holland?
Mary: I don’t know!
Anne: You seem glum. Story time! When Aunt Catherine–
Mary and Anne: God save her!
Anne: Married Uncle Charlie–
Mary and Anne: God save him!
Anne: She had to leave Portugal in order to marry him. She hadn’t even met him yet, so I guess it could be worse.
Mary: Yes, but she came to England, I’m leaving it!
Anne: Yeah, fair. Just trying to help.
Mary: I don’t need your help, dear sister, this is my cross to bear.
Anne: Saint Mary the Martyr of English diplomacy! If only you were Catholic.
Mary and Anne: *spit*
*whistle*
Mary: I’ve never left London, that’s what scares me the most. God be with thee, sister. God be with thee, England.
William: …Two.
Mary: Oh. Yes, Anne got me one as a going-away pr– okay.
Anne: I hate him.
Mary: Well, he’s your brother now.
Anne: Please, I hated him when he was my cousin. I think you should be the first Protestant saint just for sleeping with him. I can’t even imagine!
Mary: …Neither can I.
Anne: WHAT?! TELL ME EVERYTHING!!
Mary: Well, considering we haven’t, that’s everything to tell!
Anne: Oh my God! You’ve been married a week!
Mary: This stays between you and me, Anne!

Not everyone is allowed into it, actually, but England most definitely would be allowed in “the league”. It is what may be described as “exclusive”. A lot of really great countries have joined: uh, Austria, Spain, the Netherlands, even Savoy.
James: Which countries are not allowed?
William: France.

This story shall no longer wander unguided like an orphan clinging from one vague historical anecdote to another! No! Search no longer, poor play, for you have found your hero! And that hero… it’s me. Someone has to save our England! I have a mighty army of almost one hundred men! Eighty two to be exact!
Mary: Wait, with eighty two men you’re planning to–
Monmouth: Invade England, seize the crown, depose your father, my uncle, and save England from Catholic *spits* tyranny?
Mary: You’re planning on doing this with…
Monmouth: Eighty two men! Historically, this is what I did, so yah. [indecipherable] sweet cousin, it will be a Protestant England! ALL HAIL KING BASTARD THE FIRST! CHA-CHAH! Ah! He-yaaaaaaaaaaaa!!
Mary: Eighty two men can’t overthrow the king of England!
William: He’s hoping the people will rise.
Mary: What would they do to father?
William: Kill him.
Mary: Ah! Ah!
William: Okay, okay, okay! The Bastard doesn’t have any support, your father will be fine! You can have this moment; you deserve to be happy.
Mary: How? I may not like my family, but I love them. Yes, I-I deserve to be happy, but Father doesn’t deserve to die!
William: He won’t, he’ll be fine!
Mary: You can’t know that for sure.

Churchyard trees are to be littered with corpses, the military men will be order to play in time with the twitching of their feet! And if you think that this is too much, too cruel, I’ll remind you: One, I am just being historically accurate, and two, I am the goddamn motherfucking King of England! William!
William: …your majesty.
James: Oh, I couldn’t’ve done it without you! …But I know what this is. Scared to lose a few more windmills to Louis, huh? What, you thought that you could bribe me with this little quid-pro-quo?
William: I didn’t do it for you, I did it for Mary.
James: Mary? Don’t you dare bring my daughter into this. What? You thought that I was so stupid that little nugget of information would have me on all-fours like a whipped bitch begging to do you any favor you asked? No! That little shit was nothing! I could have fought him off while wiping my ass! I owe you nothing! France may be at your borders, but England could join them just as easily! God knows Louis and I talk about it. *laughs* Tip-toe around me, William. Now, I’d like to speak to my daughter. Now!
William: Mary, could you come here, please? I have a letter for you from your father.

I've had a really hard day today and I saw someone wanted more Jimary crack, so I decided to write it to cheer myself up. I hope three fics in a row isn't too excessive. (All credit goes to the anon who suggested this.)
--
‘She’s drunk.’ Joe said very matter-of-factly, lifting his wine glass to his lips, only to discover there was nothing left in it.
‘Very drunk.’ Replied Phoebe, reaching for the bottle nearby and giving them both a refill.
It wasn’t as though they had never seen Mary drunk before. She was usually all giggly and bouncy after a few drinks, perhaps more talkative than usual and, in Joe’s opinion, far less uptight. But they had never seen her like this; her eyes heavy lidded, downing her wine like it was water and clumsily swaying to the music that filled the busy lounge, stumbling every now and again to keep her balance. She was clearly taking her break up with Piers very badly.
‘Freddie’s livid.’ Joe murmured, glancing over at the singer who appeared to be deep in conversation with Peter Straker, but kept glancing over at the intoxicated woman who was trying to coax Brian into dancing with her, much to the displeasure of Anita. ‘Prepare yourself for a screaming match later on.’
‘I already have the popcorn ready.’
Mary eventually gave up on Brian and loudly announced she was heading into the kitchen for another bottle of rosé, almost stepping on Delilah as she staggered through the door. She surveyed the kitchen a moment, the room spinning as her alcohol consumption finally caught up with her, before she noticed Jim sitting alone at the kitchen table, trying unsuccessfully to uncork a large bottle of champagne between his knees.
She had always been a little jealous of Jim. Before he came along, she had always held out hope that Freddie might return to her one day, discover he wasn’t actually into men or something daft like that. But then this Irishman appeared, who wasn’t like Freddie’s other boyfriends; for the first time, it seemed like Freddie was in love and ready to settle down, happy in a way she had never seen him before. It had been hard for her to accept; but when Piers had finally had enough of her obsession and left her, she realised that she would never be able to properly move on with her life if she kept latching on to the past. She had to let Freddie go. She had to accept that, while they would always be friends, Freddie was gay and what they had all those years ago was over.
Jim noticed her hovering and looked up, giving her a small smile. ‘Enjoying the party?’
Mary hummed in response, going to the cupboard where the booze was kept and digging around until she found the rosé she was looking for. When she looked back at Jim, he still hadn’t managed to remove the cork and was quietly cursing under his breath in his thick Irish accent.
It was quite a nice voice, her inebriated mind told her.
‘You have a lovely voice.’ She suddenly said aloud, her words slurred. She wobbled up to him, heels clinking against the kitchen tiles as she unscrewed the top of the rosé bottle. ‘Where is it you’re from again?’
Jim blinked at her dumbly. He wasn’t used to Mary initiating conversation like this; she was usually so reserved. ‘Um, a town called Carlow. It’s near Dublin.’
‘It is, isn’t it?’ Mary drawled and without any warning, she suddenly plopped herself down in Jim's lap, making him jump in surprise. ‘Ireland is sss-such a lovely place. Lots of sheep there.’
Jim’s face went red, and he carefully set the champagne bottle down on the table. ‘Yeah, I suppose there are.’
Much to his horror, Mary put the bottle of rosé to her lips and began downing the drink ruthlessly, not stopping until it was almost half empty. When she finally stopped, she carelessly abandoned the bottle next to the champagne and turned around to stare Jim directly in the eyes, her smile disturbingly wide.
‘You have beautiful eyes.’ She garbled, moving her finger as if she was going to poke them out, but she instead ended up giving him a weird boop on the nose. ‘And your arms are so big.’ She reached down to squeeze his bicep, giggling like a schoolgirl. ‘I bet you’re really strong. Remember when you lifted me up at Freddie’s birthday party?’
Jim remembered. He was so plastered that night he had almost dropped her on her head.
‘Are you feeling alright, Mary?’ he asked warily, not comfortable with how close their faces were.
‘I’m wonderful, Jim.’ Mary giggled again, though it sounded a little manic. ‘I really, really want to dance. Will you dance with me, Jim?’
‘I’m not much of a dancer, Mary.’ Jim coughed, glancing over his shoulder in hope that someone might come through the kitchen door and save him.
‘That’s not true! I’ve seen you dance!’ Mary insisted, pulling at his hands, ‘come on.’
Jim didn’t have the energy to argue with her, already a little tipsy himself, and he allowed her to drag him into the middle of the kitchen, face filling with colour as Mary threw her arms around his neck and sagged all of her body weight against him. He realised rather quickly that if he let her go, she’d probably fall face first onto the floor and never get up again.
The next five minutes had to be the most uncomfortable of his entire life, as he swayed in awkward circles with his husband’s ex-girlfriend, mindfully trying to keep his hands off her waist. He wasn’t a religious man, but in that moment, he prayed to every God in existence that someone would call him from the lounge and rescue him from this predicament.
Mary suddenly lifted her head from his shoulder and whispered in his ear. ‘Marry me, Jim.’
The Irishman stared down at her, eyes comically wide. ‘Beg your pardon?’
‘Marry me.’ Mary grinned at him, leaning so close that for one horrible moment he thought she might try to kiss him. ‘We can have lots of beautiful Irish babies together.’
Jim sighed. Next time they had a party, he was going to replace Mary’s wine with Ribena. ‘I’m very flattered by your offer, but there are two problems; I’m gay and I’m married to Freddie.’
‘Oh bugger.’ Said Mary, as if she had forgotten that detail. ‘You can still marry me though. We can run away to Cardiff together.’
‘Carlow, Mary.’
Her face suddenly fell and she stepped away from him, looking betrayed. 'Is it because of the cats?'
'The what?'
‘That's why you don't want to marry me, isn't it?’ Mary's lip trembled as if she was about to cry. ‘Freddie has cats and I don't!'
‘Mary, I’m going to get you some water.’ Jim replied, making a beeline for the sink.
‘No, don’t leave!’ Mary grabbed his sleeve, trying to tug him back. ‘Stay with me, Jim. I'll buy you all the cats you want!’
‘You’ll feel much better after drinking this.’ Jim said firmly, pouring a glass of water and turning around to hand it to her. As soon as he did, her lips were suddenly pressed against his own, arms locked around his neck so there was no escape as he yelled against her mouth in surprise.
‘Mary!’ he roared, as soon as she released him, half the water having spilled onto the floor during the struggle. ‘What the bloody hell are you playing at?!’
Mary grinned; lipstick smudged across her face, so she looked like the Joker. ‘I’ve never kissed an Irishman before. Does that make me Irish now?’
Before Jim could even answer, she suddenly dry heaved; he grabbed her and stuck her head into the sink as she vomited up the contents of her stomach.
--
‘What the fuck happened?’ Freddie demanded, as Jim walked into the lounge, his shirt ruffled, a smear of red lipstick on his mouth and a very drunk Mary giggling uncontrollably in his arms.
‘Your ex-girlfriend asked me to marry her, then threw up.’ Jim replied, as if this was a normal occurrence. ‘I’m going to put her in one of the guest rooms so she can sleep it off.’
He turned and walked out of the lounge before anyone could respond. Freddie clenched his glass so hard it was a miracle it didn’t shatter in his hand.
‘I’m going to murder her!’ he growled, lunging towards the door, only for Phoebe to grab him from behind and hoist him up. ‘Let me go! That backstabbing homewrecker is trying to abscond with my husband!’
‘Take it easy, Fred.’ Phoebe said calmly, holding onto the man effortlessly. ‘You can kill her tomorrow.’
‘Yeah, we haven’t even had dessert yet.’ Said Joe, holding onto Freddie's legs to stop him from kicking. ‘I spent all fucking day slaving over that baked Alaska, you’re eating it whether you like it or not!’
Firstly, I am so sorry you are having a hard day. I feel terrible that whilst you are doing so much to entertain us with this outrageous crackship, you are not having a good time. I can just hope that writing these stories bring you as much joy as they bring us.
And now, the fic. I AM WHEEZING. First of all, I fucking love Joe. Even though we've never heard him speak, or ever listened to his words through his own perspective, I feel that your characterisation is so realistic. His dessert comment slayed me lmao.
And oof, Mary being drunk off her ass is my new favourite trope. And lmao her thinking that Jim doesnt want to marry her because she doesn't have cats😂😂😂 Leave him alone, Mary. He doesn't want to have irish babies with you.
And hahahahaha Freddie's reaction is as epic as I had envisioned. And god, this is another nightmare that Jim isn't going to recover from soon.
This is such a fantastic crackship, omg. I absolutely loved this💙💙
