❧ mixed feelings BUT this is my favorite scene so far for what are, imo, obvious reasons. hopefully y'all also enjoy what i’m try to do here !!!! (i wrote a thousand words to accompany this but ended up scrapping them at 3am because they just weren’t right :/ planning to post that outtake separately once i eventually write the proper prose for this. blaming it on having had a rough week. i did have an extremely weird grief dream thursday night, so [insert writing pen emoji])

Sunday had managed to avoid Song for the last few days of school. But a phone call reminded her just how short short lifespan is, and after a long talk about full autonomy and whether or not the watcher made a mistake, things were smoothed over for now.

Good thing too as it looks like Sunday is going to need Song's help to get through her generation in one piece.

My secret to actually finishing publishing projects is that when I don't feel like working on them, I procrastinate by pissing around with the innumerable tiny housekeeping tasks associated with the project that would otherwise bring things to a crashing halt at the 99% mark, so that when I eventually do get to the 99% mark, they're already done.

Like, you don't feel like actually writing the thing?

Screw around with the layout and formatting of your credits and copyright notices page.

Put together a spec for an illustration you imagine you might one day commission, if you ever find yourself in possession of a budget.

Fire up your graphic design software and compose a completely unnecessary diagram or visual aid.

Tinker with the wording of the promotional blurb on the itch.io page you set up in a previous bout of procrastination even though the product doesn't actually exist yet.

Any non-trivial publishing project has a billion peripheral little tasks that need taking care of, most of them sufficiently small and sufficiently different from Writing The Thing that you can probably convince your brain that doing them when you "should" be writing counts as procrastinating – and that list may look a lot less intimidating when it's framed less as "a billion things I Have To Do" and more as "a billion things I can distract myself with to avoid actually writing".

To coincide with the recent release of the Crystal Creations pack I wanted to put together a couple of fun lookbooks inspired by birthstones. My mind first went to whimsigoth, but since I've already done one of those recently I instead went with the decade that oozed glittery glamour - the 1920s. Enjoy this first part of a two part lookbook featuring good time gals and fabulous flappers.

Garnet was believed to be a protective stone, which made it popular amongst warriors and royalty. Red variety garnets are also associated with vitality, love and light.

Sunderland's Royal Jewel Vault (22/∞) ♛

↬ Gordon Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara

Many tiaras within the royal vault are instantly recognizable, being worn by noted members of the family for most of their adult lives. Some, however, are more mysterious and have yet to be worn in public at all. The Gordon Aquamarine Kokoshnik is one of the more evasive tiaras in the vault, with its existence only being hinted at for the better part of seventy years. The tiara didn't enter royal hands through inheritance but through a substantial acquisition of jewellery. In 1962, King James II and Queen Katherine purchased an unknown amount of high jewels from their friend, Dame Martha Gordon. One of the acquired tiaras, the Gordon Lattice Tiara, became a favourite of the Queen, but a second aquamarine tiara was never worn in public. The reason for this is unknown, it's possible the tiara wasn't to the Queen's taste or that she did wear the tiara in private. Whatever the reason, evidence of the tiara was fickle until the early 21st century. However, there is evidence of the tiara's previous owner wearing the jewel. The well-travelled Mrs. Gordon was a frequent guest in royal circles and she was noted to be wearing a "halo-shaped tiara of aquamarines and diamonds" to the 1954 wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Glencairin. In 1939, Martha commissioned the tiara from Boucheron after she was awe-struck by a similar piece owned by Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden. The tiara was recreated down to the enormous aquamarines and delicate lattice patterning. In early 2004, the tiara had a rare opportunity to emerge from the vault when Courtney Borroughs-Parker, the fiancée of King Louis V's second son Prince Phillip, chose it as her preferred bridal diadem. Media reports around the time claimed that Courtney had "fallen in love" with a tiara "with huge aquamarines that complimented her blue eyes perfectly". Many assumed the aquamarine tiara was the more popular Georgiyevna Tiara, but it was later revealed to be a "mystery tiara" that had never been seen before. However, in the weeks that followed, it was reported that Courtney had run into a roadblock in the form of Queen Irene's senior dresser, Diana Keating. Mrs. Keating, known as the gatekeeper of the royal family's private jewels, refused to clear the tiara for Courtney's use. Why Keating made this choice is unknown, but the ensuing drama cultivated in Queen Irene scolding her future daughter-in-law for "causing a scene". Ultimately, King Louis V purchased a tiara new tiara for Courtney. This tiara, known as the Woodbine Diamond Tiara, was the only tiara Courtney wore publicly during her marriage. The aquamarine kokoshnik once again returned to the vault, and hasn't been whispered of since. When or if the tiara will finally get its day in the sun remains a mystery, hopefully, we won't have to wait another 70 years.

May 7th is Speak Your Language Day!

Remember that Speak Your Language Day isn't my idea initially! I may be the first to combine it with Sims but who knows? Anyway...

We simmers come from around the world and many of us speak more than one language but most posts are (understandably) in English. But on May 7th, make a post in your mother tongue! If it's English, maybe use your dialect etc.? Since this is simblr, make it somehow Sims-related. You can use any Sims game.

The post can be just as simple as you like, there are no guidelines. If you have no time to create anything from scratch, you could translate some old post of yours.

For this collection, I drew inspiration from Italian interior design, blending it with the edgy allure of metallic elements. Nearly every item incorporates some form of metal detail. To balance the coolness of metal, I incorporated natural elements such as raw wood for the coffee table and the jute rug. I aimed to create a sense of tradition through the paintings while maintaining a fresh and modern approach to the whole collection.
