most people would call richie an asshole, it was just his nature y'know? how he walked around with that smirk you couldn't wipe off his face, fucking with cousin, trying to 'man the ship' and take control with his abrasive voice and attitude. after you got hired at the beef though, everyone wondered to what extent of an asshole richie really was. carmy and tina were on his ass the most, gifting him a quick smack on the shoulder or upside the head whenever they caught him staring at you, eyes trailing you out the door. they knew he could be an asshole, obviously, but they wondered if he was really the type of guy to take one look at your gleaming eyes and full cheeks and not be able to help himself. everyone in the kitchen called you 'baby', there was no avoiding how obviously young you were. richie knew, of course he knew, the way you looked up at him through your long lashes. the bags under your eyes nowhere near as dark and deep as his or carmy's. you were achingly sweet, and it killed him. when you smiled at him, bidding him his daily 'good morning, richie!' he felt his teeth rot in his mouth. like he wanted to store you away in his pocket and never let anyone ruin that sparkle you held behind your eyes. yet at the same time, if it was up to him, he could be the one to do it. a reminder he felt every time he played with the ring on his left hand. god, he could ruin your life if you let him. it's not like actively wanted to, but whenever he caught a glimpse of the sun hitting your soft skin he felt something intangible. so when you came up behind the alley and sat next to him on your first day, and he saw the way your glossed lips wrapped around his cigarette he knew he couldn't help himself, he wouldn't. he saw it that day, a part of you is sick enough to want this too. from that point on, you play along. his sweet names for you, soft touches, like he wanted to guide you, teach you. 

"tell baby she can't be ringing in the orders all at once, cousin!" carmy yelled over at richie through the expo. "well maybe if you picked up the pace, did the damn system the way it's meant to be done you'd get it done, cousin." richie yells back rolling his eyes, he was being stubborn about all of carmen's new 'rules'. "just tell her, asshole!". richie threw his hands up, exiting the kitchen to find you ringing in orders on the new tablet that only you can seem to figure out. he comes up beside you, gently pulling your hand off the screen. you turn, recognizing richie's strong cigarette and minty aroma. "cousin's being a little bitch so i'm just gonna need you to slow down on ringing in orders. alright, sweetheart?" he nods his head towards you. "oh shit, i'm sorry richie i forgot you guys were short staffed today! if you want i can help back there-" richie chuckles at you stumbling over your words. "no no, don't worry about it, doll. you keep your pretty little self up here-" he grabs your shoulders facing you back towards your tables, "and let me worry about what's going on back there". you let out a small laugh and agree, feeling his big hands gripping your shoulders. "keep raking in those tips, baby!" he yells back as he makes his way back into the kitchen. "yo, you told her, cousin?" carmy questions as richie walks back into the hectic kitchen. "yeah fuck off, she's doing great out there. that face brings in the big bucks man" sydney throws her head back at his words, "richie you can't be saying that! i think even the way you look at her is an HR violation." "syd, fuck off, i am HR" he responds with a cocky tone making sydney roll her eyes.

it was a few days after the day of the game, and the little show richie put on to protect you from some drunk asshole. he had laughed to himself the entire way home, imagining your 'boyfriend' picking you up that night. and every night after work as a matter of fact. how you'd go home to him and lay in bed thinking about richie. his hands, the scruff on his face, the shadow his figure casted over you when he stood behind you, the way his gaze imprinted on you, and the way his voice changed when directed towards you. richie could always clock the want in your eyes, almost like you would surrender yourself to whatever would fall from his mouth. finding out about your boyfriend just confirmed his suspicions; you were just the type of girl who's looking for someone to take good care of her. 

it was the following friday night after a particularly stressful shift at the beef (when wasn't it) and tina had rounded everyone up, convincing everyone to head to the bar. "ugh, but tina i'm all sweaty" you frowned, always wanting to head out looking your best. "baby throw on a dress and some lipstick and i promise you'll look just fine, mija." she came up to you, reaching up to flatten your fly aways with her small hands. "plus who you trying to look good for anyways, richie?" she laughed but then quickly noticed your red face and paused. "what?" you asked slowly with a nervous tinge. "don't tell me you got the hots for richie, girl." she looked at you, eyebrows as crinkled as ever. after your lack of response she let out a long sig, "ay no, niña. i love that boy, i really do but he is bad news. plus baby he's too old for you, my god, and you're too pretty. no no no you stay away from him." she ranted on before you could even get a word in. "no, tina! i don't, I promise!" you exclaimed, she stared unconvinced, "plus i've got a boyfriend". "hmmm, okay, i'm watching you girl. go get ready." her tone still sounded unconvinced, just a bit more at ease knowing you're at least 'taken'. you quickly composed yourself in the dim fluorescent's of the beef's bathroom as everyone made their way to the bar. slapping on some lipstick, your hoops, and trying to manage as much of your hair as you could. "wepa!! look at you, come on let's go before everyone gets drunk by the time we get there" tina pulls you off into her car.

Eh, I'm of two minds wrt Possessed!Byleth. On the one hand, this proves that Intsys does not really care about consistency in their main games and just want to sell units. On the other hand, Nopes is an Alternate universe of FE16 so *shrugs*. Okay now that I got that out of my system, I have thoughts on the investigation team. Obviously Kanji is up next. I'm very hyped for him.

So he appears on the Midnight Channel, and luckily everyone recognizes him instead of being mysteriously baffled and uncertain.

Before we can really dig into the mechanics of the Midnight Channel, Yosuke wants to know if I'm into Chie or Yukiko. Sadly, no. I'm still keeping my options open.

I very much have a Type, and my Type is "competent person, usually a fighter themselves, who is undergoing their own full character arc in tandem with mine." Garrus and Akihiko fit that tremendously, they are like the pinnacle of that shit, that's my catnip. I like growing emotional maturity and feeling like a partner or equal to the person. (Again, Garrus fucking Vakarian is the best romance in games, you can @ me.)

Chie and Yukiko aren't my jam, tho Yukiko seems nice and if I HAD to pick, probably her. But also: god please can I have some more options.

Back to the investigation, we're finally one step ahead of things. Yukiko knows Kanji because Amagi Inn is a client of Tatsumi Textiles. Fucking aces, we have an in.

After the mysterious slender young man leaves, it turns out that the first murder victim got a scarf from here, but like.

I think the first victim might be a red herring altogether and the entire case is supernatural in some way. Like, in a moment we get to see that Kanji is not actually stuck in the TV yet, he's in the normal world still. So the Midnight Channel somehow knows who the victim is going to be beforehand. This happened with Yukiko as well, when we all thought she was kidnapped but she was working at the inn still.

So, the Midnight Channel is forecasting the next person beforehand.

Two options:

A. The killer is somehow tuned to the Midnight Channel itself and the way their power works, it does the forecasting beforehand. The killer is likely from the TV World or connected to it.

B. The killer is responding to the Midnight Channel's directive when it forecasts who is next, and thus the victims aren't actually being picked by the killer but by the TV.

... Neither of these make a lot of sense, but they make more sense than the killer selecting victims and the TV weirdly Knowing about it and informing everyone.

SHRUG. ANYWAY.

This one, even more than the others I don't get. The High Priestess is a keeper of vast knowledge and wisdom, sitting sentry over a veil or doorway between the conscious world and the subconscious, the mystical, the sacred. Sometimes this is literally some "women understand magic more then men sacred feminine" shit but putting aside that annoying shit, the Priestess is a protector of both the knowledge they preside over and a protector of the querent. Their purpose is to know what answers to give and how, so to keep the querent safe.

Fuuka made a pretty good Priestess as the SEES' mission control character. She gazed into the abyss so others did not have to, essentially. She also had a strong air of detachment from her peers, which is a common stumble of the priestess, that isolation from those who don't share their burden.

If to bend really hard and connect the concept of Amagi Inn and legacy to the 'burden' of the Priestess, then maybe? But like Yosuke, Yukiko doesn't yet have the signifiers I would expect from their arcanas.

BLAH BLAH TAROT BLAH BLAH, kanji's heeeeeeere, i'm so happy. I know what arcana I might give him but I'm sure the game will do something stupid like make him the Emperor or whatever.

Okay so on the one hand I know character age wank is fucking stupid, but also I get why people were like "...are these all minors or what" considering Glimmer's being grounded and then arguing with her mom like a high-schooler. My own parents (who were more controlling than most) stopped actually "grounding" me once I was 18--they just forbid me from using the car for anything but work or school because they owned it. Which is why they owned the car. Anyway.

(True story: that was their punishment for me getting bad grades at community college, and my response to this was to quit school, buy my own car, and move in with my then-boyfriend's family)

I wonder if Adora running off to do things on her own in order to attempt to protect people she cares about without asking them if that's even something they want her to do will be a continuing theme for her 🤔

Hi! For WIP game, all of them seem super intriguing! And although I'm curious about the Hamlet crack 😅 I'm going to ask about hyacinth because I love flowers!

So the story behind Hyacinth is that when I was writing Tim’s chapter for BtPO, I came up with a hyacinth-related metaphor to describe him that I really liked… but I only wrote it in my notes app and forgot to add it to the fic doc. A few weeks after I posted the chapter, I remembered it and realized I’d never incorporated it into the fic 💀. BtPO was finished at that point but I still really liked the metaphor, so I started thinking of how else I could use it and Hyacinth was born.

Basically it would be a Tim&Kon centric character/relationship study, and possibly also a TimKon get together, bc at this point my single metaphor has spiraled completely out of my control. Length-wise I’m predicting a longer oneshot. The fic would start with Conner accidentally injuring Tim somehow, either in a training accident or in battle or just some mundane activity, and would deal with Conner’s resulting guilt.

This is coming from the Greek mythology around Hyacinths - there’s different versions but basically Hyacinth was a human and one of Apollo’s lovers, until one day Apollo accidentally injured him while playing a game (killed him, really, but that’s not where I want to go with this fic XD). In his grief, Apollo creates Hyacinth flowers to remember him. This myth has nothing to do with my initial metaphor, but if I’m writing a fic called Hyacinth I’m going ham, and I think Apollo being the sun god fits so well for Conner. It’s also an entryway to explore Connor’s complicated relationship with his own existence and Kryptonian nature. And finally it gives me an excuse to use the Tim hyacinth metaphor I came up with over a year ago XD

I don’t have a plot yet because I never do, but honestly I don’t think this will be a plot-heavy fic anyway - just a lot of angsty introspection and trying to cope with one’s origin story.

The Hamlet fic requires a lot less elaboration - I think I came up with it very late at night while sleep deprived because it’s a bit chaotic. Basically Jason comes back from the dead and pulls a Hamlet - or rather a Hamlet’s dad. He appears to Bruce as a ‘ghost’ and tries to convince him to kill the Joker. It’s labeled crack(?) because if I wrote it I’d either have to take it way too seriously and it would be the most depressing shit I’ve ever written, or just lean into the absurdity and make it a crackfic. Probably I will just never write it XD

basic ideas i had while bouncing this off with my sister was its tails and all the other babies, so like ur buddies that follow you around are cream, charmy and marine. the four hedgehogs went missing about the same time by being called away. tails was with sonic because of course but specifically sonic wanted to do something with tails when he was called somewhere and was like "ill brb" and then he wasn't. I believe I said that shadow was with chaotix because he paid them to find his bike, charmy followed him for a little bit because when he was called he left and forgot to pay them. amy was with cream bc she lives there. marine was with silver specifically blaze sent her to go pick him up so they could hang out in her dimention, blaze said not to use violence but marine is fully ready to whoop his ass and knock him out to drag him back to her dimention. eventually they all gather around tails and have to deal with eggman probably and his bullshit without adult supervision. around the end they find the hedgehogs and how they were captured was they were basically air drugged with shit that makes them basically sleepy and useless. half way through they fight and beat the shit out of metal and break his ass and specifically tails doll get so mad about it he starts breaking shit indiscriminetly. the final battle is distracting him long enough for tails to fix metal. they all have fun little epilouges and turns out it was tails' gotcha day and sonic wanted to celebrate with him bc they dont know his birthday. this all was talked about from 2-3am

YES YES YES!!! IDEAL!! kicking my legs up and down while imagining this. the controlling of 4 separate characters could be confusing but i think theres ways to get around that (maybe a sonic heroes switch scenario, or just have the three of them off screen and talking to tails as you control him unless theyre needed in a specific situation.) i really like what that other anon said about it being more of a puzzle game and platformer than other sonic games... im getting myself worked up over a hypothetical game that will probably never happen lol

Diana and Aqua.... oof. on god we're gonna get u girls some therapy. they were both so severely fucked over by like. literally everything from ingame events to the narrative itself. trapped in two different but absolute hellholes of sitautions for Very Long Amounts of Time and only called upon as a pawn in a game that both defines and ruins their lives and their entire world, and they barely even know it. and the only people they get to talk to at some point in their respective hells are Sigma and Micheal Mouse (and Terra sort of).. yea i think id lose it too tbh. its interesting that Diana was a 100% crucial part of why ztd happened while Aqua's role in Xehanorts plan wasnt really until ddd/kh3 unless u count him planning the whole end of bbs.. before that she was more of an outside force? not that taking her out wouldnt change anything ofc but her direct actions were more harmful to the overall plan than going according to it. i might need to play bbs again to confirm that more but uhh i forgot where i was going with this. i could see them getting along but i dont really remember enough about Diana as a person to know just how well they would? i guess itd at least be nice to have someone else who knows what their oddly specific and horrific situations are like, more or less

finally Sean n Ven.. Man. talk abt kids who cant catch a break for their entire lives no matter how outragously short OR long. they both just have a Lot going on and play some of the most major roles in their respective stories and god knows they didnt ask for any of it!! tho weirdly enough i dont feel much for Sean considering how he fits into the kinda characters i usually get attached to. but maybe thats just bc it was ztd. anyway !! out of the 3 duos here i think these two are most likely to become actual friends. from the memory fuckery to having a greater role in everything than they couldve imagined (both of them essentially being a key at some point..) to even just. having a very limited world in some way. and not having full control over their bodies. and several other major things im probably forgetting they both have. lots and lots and lots of things. they are friends to me

and just some general other thoughts - while im. not entirely sure how to feel abt what ztd does with the morphogenetic field i can at least appreciate the weird memory stuff that comes with body hopping and the possibilities that has when tied to all the other weird memory stuff that already happens in kh for similar or different reasons. like the way ztd (and vlr to some extent) went about it didnt quite hit the way i wanted it to but the concept is cool to me? itd be fun to play around with it in the context of kh i think. or vice versa. altho maybe introducing multiple timelines to the kh universe isnt the best idea.. hm. much to think about

but yeah!!!! overall verdict: mostly blessed with some underlying hints of cursed. like a weird aftertaste

Okay so I really really really like Havelock. Like if I had to choose a single favorite character from Dishonored it would be him. Idk what it is about that fucked up old man but he tickles my brain really good and also he transed my gender. So thanks Arkane for the gender.

Other characters I really really like are Corvo (but like. my interpretation of him. bc I'm picky and snooty about it), DH1 Emily, Samuel, Martin, aaaand probably a lot more but I'm brain foggy and it's hard for me to think rn. I also really like Billie, I think she was done really dirty by DOTO :(

I will say I prefer DH1 over DH2 and beyond because like...idk...DH2 feels kinda...defanged? And more hand-holdy than the DH1?

Havelock strikes me as the honorably dishonorable one. Like...this is gonna get a bit rambly so forgive me but like, if you step away from the really obvious foreshadowing (because Arkane stapled their hand to the players apparently), and take him in like some of the other characters do (like the other Loyalists aside from the Big Three), Havelock seems fairly trustworthy? He's strong, blunt, headstrong, and dead set on getting his way, no matter the cost, but he hides behind a facade of honor. He claims he was cast out of the Navy for rejecting Burrows' rule as illegitimate, he makes a point of saying how the choices he'd have made as a younger, bolder man (i.e. staging a more violent coup) wouldn't have led to the "bright future" he claims to want to bring about. He claims the conspiracy is all about restoring the Kaldwin line and removing an illegitimate regime—but we all know how that ends.

I fully believe Havelock is putting on the front, the same way Martin does—the two of them are dangerous in different ways. Where Martin lowers your guard with honeyed words, Havelock lowers it by posturing himself as the man who wears everything on his sleeve. People think that what you see is what you get with him, and I feel like it's to the point where he could even be seen as foolish or a mindless brute. But he's smart, he's calculating, and he knows exactly what he's doing. He's playing The Game™ while appearing as though he doesn't care to understand it. And he uses his mask of a stern, honor-bound, almost fatherly military man as a means to control people and manipulate things behind the scenes.

Corvo is the dishonorably honorable one to me—he does follow an honor code and he follows it closely, but one relevant to Serkonos, not to Gristol. There's a really good article that explores the concept of Corvo pursuing a vendetta more in-depth that I highly recommend you read, it's definitely informed my characterization for Corvo: it's called Corvo Is Not An Honorable Man.
