it’s so painfully hard to get actually good aroace representation in media, because those characters, whether it be by the writers or the fandom, always get their identity erased.
jughead is a prime example of that. we could have had such an important character to represent us, but noooo
wednesday could have been perfect as aroace (especially with how she said she’d pity any man who fell in love with her in the old movies), but that would be too much too ask for
and i’ve seen too many fans asking for yelena belova and kate bishop to be made into a couple for my taste. THATS LITERALLY HER CANON SEXUALITY IN THE COMICS

YES we need more aro/ace/aroace representation in media
YES not every dynamic needs to end in romance
NO you are not an awful person for wanting to keep shipping characters without any aro/ace headcanons
NO you are not an awful person for wanting any characters you see to kiss
I am aroace !! I prefer to ship characters than keep everything platonic !!
It is hard/nearly impossible for me to feel real romantic attraction to someone, so instead I turn to fictional media to experience what I can't
I struggled with this detail a lot, since most of the people on my spectrums that I've seen will headcanon most characters on the spectrum as well, and I felt like I should be adding more of my own aro/ace headcanons to characters. But I don't have to. You don't have to.
This is just to comfort people who might have had the same concerns as me, because yes representation is important, but so is just enjoying a media how you want <3

I'm not strictly aromantic or asexual (I might be demi however; I'm *still* trying to figure that one out!), but I support and love every single one of you. Your identity is valid. Your queerness is valid. YOU are valid. You're deserving of all the happiness in the world.
(this includes cishet aroaces by the way)

I say found family because "queerplatonic polycule" requires so much explanation and invites a whole lot of criticism.
But if those words make more sense, or seem less like childish fantasy to you, then that's what I mean.

Believing heterosexual aromantics, asexual heteromantics, and aroaces don't belongs in the LGBTQ+ community, but the rest do is aphobic.
Think about it like this,
Tumblr media
This is steve, he is a trans guy! Great for him right? He is heterosexual! He's still apart of the LGBTQ+ community, right? Of course! Heterosexuality doesn't nessessarily mean someone isn't apart of the community!
So to say just because an aro/ace doesn't feel attracted to the opposite sex that they aren't apart of it IS excluding aces/aros! It is saying that being asexual or aromantic in it of itself isn't being apart of the LGBTQ+ community, which is 100% aphobic
We are all against the heteronormative status quo, and those who are against us are going to put us in the same group, so why don't we stop fighting over bs and fight together?

aight some real talk
calling people virgin as an insult in 2023 is cringe as hell, when it's a cishet person I give sort of a discount because not everyone is like, engaged deeply in the queer community and well read on queer/feminist theory but when it's a queer person saying shit like that I feel like scolding them
basically, virginity as we known today is a social construct that originates in patriarchy, men would determine the value of a woman by her sex life. A woman who never had sex would be seen as pure, naive and innocent and also, women who had sex before marriage were seen as unworthy, dirty, sinners and sometimes put on the streets to die.
"but what about hymens" basing social constructs by genitals and pseudo-biology is one of the main strategies of gendered oppression. it's contradictory to call yourself queer and use this argument as a way of justifying the existence of virginity.
also sex is more complex than penetration, there is a lot of sexually active people with vaginas who never had their hymens broken, would you call them a "virgin"?
"but sex is a rite of maturity" no it isn't lol, are you like in the middle ages or something? there is multiple ways of a person to develop their emotional maturity
also, virginity as a social construct affects heavily asexual people. but it also affects allos as well, there are allos who don't have sex because of social issues from neurodivergence or just general shyness or aren't like, interested in sex and prefer to do other things in life, there is nothing morally wrong with this people. There aren't such thing as "virgin hobbies" there are grown ass married men who play videogames. and more
