before you read it i feel like i need to say that if anybody says something like “nooo they can’t all be gay and trans” ill say that it’s actually common for lgbt+ people to stick together even before they know that they’re all queer (and even before they come out to themselves!) soda: cis but doesn’t gaf about the pronouns, bisexual with steve randle preference

johnny: cis and gay, he/they, mixed hispanic and south asian (but mostly south asian), as a kid didn’t know much about desi culture bc his parents never taught him anything about it, but at a more conscious age got really interested and learned quite a lot of things about it by himself

dally: sometimes i feel like he’s transmasc and sometimes like he’s cis; gay and struggles with accepting it, he/him ONLY, russian

steve: cis and bi, he/him and quarter black and partly native american

two-bit: usually hc him as cis but sometimes i feel like he’s transmasc (i have this hc for years because the person who translated the outsiders into russian wrote his name the same way the name “kate” can be written and ofc i understood that his name can’t be kate but i still came up with this hc), straight (accidentally kissing with dallas while both being drunk bc of confusing him with some blonde girl doesn’t count), he/any, mixed irish and native american and someone else but he doesn’t really care about it

Ocean: Cis girl She/her Lesbian, asexual Was in denial about being a lesbian for the first ~17 years of her life: "it's normal to want to spend all my time with Connie!" "of course every girl feels completely empty when her friend isn't around" "it isn't gay to want to kiss your bestie on the lips!". Noel both hated and loved every single moment of this.

Noel: Amab bigender He/she/neos Gay Has fallen for every cishet boy in school. Literally every single one. He needs help.

Mischa: Cis boy He/him, doesn't mind any Bisexual, poly Dating Talia, who by the way is also poly. He was completely clueless about his own sexuality until she told him, and then he started asking Ricky questions ("yoo Rickster! Talia said she likes lords, what's that mean?" "what???" "...lords-? пан, she sayed she's пансексуал!" ".....OH you mean pansexual" and it derailed from there) and that's how he figured it out.

Ricky: Amab non-binary They/them Pansexual (I genuinely thought they canonically said "the sexy catpeople from Zolar") Goes by Savannah online. Irl, they're only out as an enby to the choir (besides Ocean). In a QPR with Penny :)

The reason I'm torn is because he's never shown any interest romantically in any way... but his obsession with Chris is a little... gay

Alcina Dimitrescu

Lesbian / Female

It's basically canon that she prefers women in other ways than in the bedroom

She prefers their taste in blood (which totally isn't a slightly sexual thing)

I honestly think that if they wrote Ethan as a female, Alcina would've most likely been nicer until, you know, you kill her daughters (who are also all lesbians)

Billy Coen

Ally / Male

He kinda comes off as a bisexual but I don't see it

How I see it is that he's comfortable with his own masculinity and is a supporter of anyone that's queer

Part of the reason I say this as well is because he's a Queen fan in canon and Freddie Mercury was one of the best gay icons so...

Carlos Oliveira

Pansexual / Demi-boy

He doesn't give a shit about being attracted to a specific gender, he's just got love for everyone

He isn't also fully a boy but doesn't fit anywhere else, there are days where he just wants to be a blob on his couch

Carlos has most likely dated at least one person of the more popular gender identities, but definitely dated Tyrell, friends don't look at each other the way Tyrell looked at Carlos

Chris Redfield

GAY / Male

Chris is SO GAY

You'd have to be blind to not see Chris' gayness, and I bet even if you WERE blind, you could still see it

He's not the flaming homosexual kind but like... just, C'MON!!

Claire Redfield

Claire (like Carlos) doesn't care about gender attraction and thinks it's stupid it exists

To celebrate the last day of aro week, let's take a look at all the punch out fellas I hc being on the aroace spectrum!!!

Mr Dream:

Orientation- Aroace, romance/sex positive

Dear old dream grew up thinking it was normal to pick and choose who to love. The thought for many years that to feel romantic feelings was a job or a costume, something to wear for a little while and take off at the end of the day.

It wasn't until his late 20s, when he talked to an online forum about it, did he learn the terms 'Aromantic' and "Asexual'. Even after that it took him a bit of time to process how he truly felt about romance and sex, how he wanted to interact with them going forward, and how he'd orient his life knowing that simply never pursuing a relationship like that was an option now.

In the end, he decided that he liked them both enough to continue. He liked doing things to make a person he cared about and trusted happy and if that meant sometimes doing romantic and sexual stuff, so be it.

Gabby Jay:

Orientation- Greyromantic/sexual

Gabby had never been interested people, sexually or romantically. For much of his youth, this distressed him. It left him with the idea that he was broken and needed to be fixed, yet he never could force himself into those types of things. Once disowned, he dropped the shame, reveling in the family he made for himself and his friendships.

It wasn't until he was 52 that he began to experience a new feeling around Doc Louis. It took him months to figure out, but he realized he was feeling whatever semblance of romantic feelings (At least in his mind) he even had.

Unsurprisingly, this shook his worldview. After so many years of being 'unable' to feel love he now suddenly liked someone. It made him think about whether or not this life before then had been wasted. After a while of contemplation, he admits his confused feelings to Doc, who helps him work out that he's not only a-spec, but even his exception with Doc isn't unusual.

A bit after that, him and Doc start a slow, steady relationship that leave them both very happy :)

Narcis Prince:

Orientation- Unsure, but close to Demi-Greyromantic and gay

Narcis never really prioritized romance in his life. Even as he read countless romance novels and had the idea pushed on to him endlessly, he never saw the point of holding it so high, especially when compared to his platonic relationships.

Narcis always preferred his friends above dates and potential partners, to the point of never even considering someone as a potential partner unless they'd been a friend first. However, he's still had a fair amount of famous crushes and general aesthetic attraction to people alongside genuine romantic feelings, which has made finding his place on the aro/ace spectrum tough.

Even his romantic relationships and feelings have left him confused. Often because his feelings are hardly different and often based on the platonic feelings he has about a person. While in a romantic relationship with someone, he treats them mostly as a friend with a handful of special perks (Like casual makeout sessions).

Von Kaiser:

Orientation- Aroace/aroflux demisexual, sex and romance neutral

Kaiser grew up not caring about sex or romance at all. He never had any shame about being aroace, though you won't hear him call himself that as he isn't too in touch with queer stuff.

Throughout his adulthood though, he's noticed the occasional aesthetic attraction turn into genuine, but often short lived crushes on people. So far there have only been two times in his life where he actively was interested in pursuing romance with someone.

The first of these is with glass joe- he was never sure why but he always liked him in a way different from the others, though as their years together went on he never expressed these feelings and eventually realized that their relationship wasn't meant to be.

The second was great tiger. After almost a decade of friendship and years living together, the two realized that their feelings had evolved into something other than the platonic ones they began with. It didn't take long for them to agree that whatever this thing between them was would most certainly stay and that they wanted to be like this for the rest of their lives. They firmly call their relationship queerplatonic and are very happy it isn't a 'traditional' romance whatsoever.

King Hippo:

Orientation- Aroace, sex and romance repulsed

Hippo always knew he was aroace and never questioned it or had any type of urges. He never thought to even think of himself as different until he came to the us, where he picked up on and subsequently became uncomfortable with the constant bombardment of romance all around him.

It was through through searching that he found an aroace community to bond with while in the US and to help him deal with the intense culture shock. He's absolutely overjoyed to be a part of aroace communities wherever he can find them and hopefully give more people the chance to join them too.

Great Tiger:

Orientation- Demiromantic/sexual and gay, sex and romance neutral

Tiger grew up very aware that he was demi and very unsure of how to feel about it for most of his life. Through trial and error he found that he very, very rarely was ever attracted to people after getting close to them, and even then only to men.

He didn't expect much to happen when he entered the wvba and he certainly didn't expect to become so close to Kaiser of all people. But in the end, he's very happy with where they're at.

They don't really do the traditional romantic stuff like kissing or holding hands and going on dates but their affection for each other is beyond what either would call friendship. Still though, they plan to get married for the benefits and so Tiger can have custody of their kids as well.

Super Macho Man:

Orientation- Apothiromantic pansexual

Macho spent much of his teenage years trying to fall in love and failed miserably. Every date felt wrong, every romance movie and book was completely alien to him, as unrealistic as dragons and unicorns. Still, he knew that he HAD to date... because what other choice did he have? Besides, he certainly felt sexual feelings so romance must be somewhere in there, right?

It took him until he was 25 to accept that romance not only wasn't for him, but that it actively disgusted him too. And it took him another year to stop feeling like a heartless freak for only being interested in sex. Even now he still feels weird and guilty about not wanting love, not that he'd admit it to anyone though.

Despite this, he has a fairly healthy polycule of fuckbuddies- people who he trusts to not catch feelings for him. And in a way, it makes him feel better whenever he calls one of them up.

(im using "any pronouns" for he/she/they + neos to make it easier for me cause i usually dont know whether "any pronouns" includes neos or not.

i also put some xenogenders in so if you dont know one or are curious, look them up!! theyre super cool! i tried to use some that are somewhat known to make them easier to find but xenogenders are kinda hard to find in general so)

(also im probably spelling names wrong PLS FORGIVE ME IF I AM im tired and idk how to spell 😕😕)

quick guide for anyone confused!!!

masc terms = masculine terms (i.e boyfriend, bro, dude, brother)

fem terms = feminine terms (i.e girlfriend, sister, wife)

neu terms = neutral terms (i.e partner, sibling, spouse, significant other)

all or any terms = fem, masc, + neu terms (i.e partner, girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, husband, spouse)

he had a lot of gender crises while in the PM and eventually realized that he could be both nonbinary and male. chuuya pretended to be really irritated with all the pronoun and term changes but was very supportive and patient

Kunikida: trans man - he/him - masc + neu terms - gay + demisexual

he was very nervous about teaching at first because he didnt know if the students would know if he was trans or not but ended up "passing" really well and no one knew until he decided to tell them and then all the queer kids went to him for help/advice

atsushi: cis male - he/xe - masc terms - bi

was very nervous abt coming out and repressed his attraction to men until he joined the ADA and felt safe enough to accept who he was and came out

yosano: bigender (nonbinary and female) - she/they - fem + neu terms - lesbian ace

didnt realize she was queer until she met ranpo and he suggested she might be. after that, he helped her try pronouns and terms until they found what fit. as a way of saying thanks, she did his nails and helped him through his gender crisis

ranpo: bigender (male and female) - he/she/they - any terms - bi demiromantic ace

didnt realize he was bigender until yosano did his nails and had a gender crisis. it took him a week to figure it out and hes still embarrassed about it

fukuzawa: trans man - he/they - masc terms - aroace

never felt interested in romantic or sexual relationships and didnt realize that it wasnt "normal" until people started dating eachother and talking about sex

jun'ichirō: cis man - he/him - masc terms - straight demiromantic asexual

was super confused when his sister kept getting crushes on guys and talked about dating them when they barely knew eachother. when he tried to look up why that was a thing, he came across the labels demiromantic and asexual and realized it applied to him

kenji: cis man - he/she/they - any terms - unlabeled

doesnt care what people refer to them as, they know their own gender and thats all that matter to him. also does not care for labels, he likes who he likes

kyouka: demigirl - she/they - fem + neu terms - bi

had no time to explore her identity while in the PM so they only discovered themself when they joined the ADA. dazai was actually the one to help her find the labels and pronouns that fit her

naomi: trans woman - she/her - fem terms - pan

she insisted for jun'ichirō to call her a girl at a young age and it scared him at first. after looking it up, he realized she was trans and waited until middle school to help her find a name for herself. when she reached high school, he then hunted down an ability user who could change someone's appearance for help because they couldn't afford hormones and surgery

kirako: cis woman - she/ze - fem terms - bi

she found neopronouns when she was in middle school and experimented for months before finding ze/zir and realized how much she liked them. she didn't tell anyone about it because ze was embarrassed but then finally felt safe enough with naomi to talk about it

THE GUILD

fitzgerald: cis male - he/they - masc terms - gay

had a long talk with every member about how he wouldn't tolerate discrimination in the guild. it was kinda awkward since everyone there was queer.

POE!!: genderfluid (female, male, agender) - he/she/ve/xe - any terms - uranic demisexual

uses karl to let others know how hes feeling (karl likes being dressed up he gave consent)!! he puts a bow on karl when xe feels feminine, a tie when ve feels masculine, and a little sweater when she feels like neither!! ranpo thinks it's adorable. also genderfluid poe is canon

melville: cis male - he/him - masc terms - gay

also did the "no discrimination tolerated" speech but it was 10x more awkward

louisa: demigirl - she/they/sol - fem + neu terms - pan

talks with poe about neos a lot!! has fun making up new ones although sol doesn't use them

lovecraft: genderqueer- they/voi - neu terms - aroace

likes trying out new neos although they never seem to fit void for long

james: cis male - he/him - masc terms - unlabeled

he feels very lonely being the only unlabeled person in the group but none of them make fun of him or say anything rude and always try to include him without insinuating/accidentally using lables for him

steinbeck: demiboy - he/cloud - neu terms - gay

jokingly makes fun of neos a lot, will kill someone who actually does

montgomery: trans girl - she/her - fem terms - bi

will constantly refer to herself in third person when shes feeling dysphoric so that the others know and try to help (for example, "hey, am i not the strongest girl in the group?")

margaret: trans woman - she/her - fem terms - pan ace

loves hyping herself up (as she should) and always makes sure to hype up other trans people and compliments them a lot

mark: trans man - he/him - masc terms - bi

sees lucy as a little sister and always helps her when shes feeling dysphoric. loves to buy her cute dresses and does her hair a lot

hawthorne: nonbinary - he/they - neu terms - gay

loves browsing queer forums and is super active in the community. always helps answer questions anyone has and loves educating people about gender and sexuality

ryunosuke: bigender (male + female) - she/he/it - fem + masc terms - uranic

only told gin and chuuya about it because he didn't feel safe enough to tell dazai. she was only able to tell him about it after chuuya told it dazai was also queer (WITH PERMISSION). IM A SHE/HER RYUU TRUTHER OK IT JUST FITS SO WELL

gin: genderqueer/apagender - any/all - any terms - lesbian

they never felt weird when people used he/him pronouns on them or used male terms. talked to chuuya about it and after a long discussion, they came to the conclusion that they just did not care what people used for them. told ryuu right after so she would stop getting mad at people for using the "wrong" pronouns/terms.

chuuya: genderfluid (male + nonbinary) - he/ve/it/nix - any terms - uranic ace

the "elder queer" amongst the PM. everyone goes to it for advice. nix actually never had a realization moment, he just always switched between feeling like a man and feeling somewhere in between. the only confusion it had was what to call this, and ve eventually found the label for it.

higuchi: astrumgender - she/star/sol/moon/xe - neu terms - pan

had no idea how to describe sol's gender until xe found a xenogender masterlist on the internet. she found it interesting and kept trying to analyze what star's gender felt like when moon saw one that seemed close to what they felt. she finally landed on astrumgender however it wasnt until a week later, when she tried it again, that xe realized it described star. gin helped her with pronouns.

ace: genderqueer - he/she/they - any terms - gay

found out about all the different gender while gambling with someone. looked it all up later and decided to settle with genderqueer cuz she didn't feel like trying out a ton of different labels (honestly me too)

kōyō: trans fem - she/they/ae - fem + neu terms - neptunic ace

thought neptunic meant "attracted to masculine people" until gin told them that it actually meant "someone attracted to nonbinary people and women". ae felt it described aer better than lesbian did so she started using that label. (honestly i keep getting neptunic and uranic mixed up. i keep thinking the terms are neptunic for liking masc people and sapphic for liking fem. then uranic comes outta nowhere to remind me of my dumbassery 💀 i gotta memorize this shit. the flags dont help either)

verlaine: ethegender - any/all - any terms - gay ace

always felt confused by their gender, he could never describe it in thought, feelings, or words. he always felt like it was at his fingertips but she just couldn't get a hold of it. xe fell down a gender rabbit hole one day and felt that ehtegender described it perfectly. this was also when it discovered the label ace.

hirostu: cis male - he/him - masc terms - aroace

thought everyone knew he was aroace until someone asked him if he had a wife during a meeting. he said he didn't cause he wasn't interested in that or sex and it was deathly quiet for two minutes before he said he was aroace to clarify. they like to tell that story to new members for a quick laugh

arthur: agender - he/they - neu terms - gay aroace

took forever to rediscover their identity. they knew something felt wrong when people used masc terms for him so he asked mori about it. it was a very awkward conversation

elise: cis girl - she/her - fem terms - straight aroace

got very confused when mori kept asking if she had any crushes yet. finally decided to ask him abt what he meant and that was when they both realized she was on the aroace spectrum

Q: agender - they/xe/voi - neu terms - unlabeled

they're actually very happy for their natural androgynous appearance, cause xe never gets misgendered. ofc voi told the PM of their neos but xe never expected them to get used and they cried when chuuya casually said "why are you talking about Q that way?? xe's a kid. leave xem alone".

karma: trans boy - he/him - masc terms - gay

had a very awkward conversation with ace when ace realized he was trans. he was seriously hoping ace just turned him into a gem to escape the conversation. surprisingly managed to teach her a lot of things about the community and proper etiquette when talking to queer people

kajii: trans masc - he/they/xe/ve/ae/div - neu terms - pan demiromantic

neopronoun collector. loves neos. gains neos each week. lost track of them and had to start over three times. ryuu loves using his div's new neos cause it adds some excitement to his life

oda: demiboy- he/she - fem + masc terms - uranic

when she met dazai, it took a lot of patience for him to teach them about pronouns and gender. had no idea dazai was bigender until xe came out to him about it. absolutely no gaydar

ango: nonbinary- he/they - masc + neu terms - gay

phenomenal gaydar, clocked everyone immediately. oda didnt even have time to come out to them, they already knew. knew about dazai, too, but wanted him to figure it out on their own

mori: fuck him, cishet (just realized two seconds after posting that i forgot to add him lol)

THE SILLIES (DOA)

fyodor: agender - any/all - any terms - gay ace

i feel like he sees himself as a divine being or at least something other than human. he has this whole thing of "doing god's will/mission". and imo divine beings are genderless. so i think he would see himself as above gender. i would've just done they/them + neos but honestly? i dont think she would care about pronouns at all so. ALSO nikolai LOVES finding the most out there neos to use for fyodor he finds it so fun. he uses new ones every day

NIKOLAI!!!!: genderqueer - he/they + any/all neos - neu terms - gay demiromantic ace

i feel like nikolai just does not care about pronouns. i also think he wouldnt mind she/her but find a little displeasure in it. he would probably rate she/her as a 4/10 if 0 was hate and 10 was love. he almost feels neutral about it but theres just a little but of dislike. he also LOVES silly neos like clown or honk. he loves it even more when fyodor uses his silly neos cause fyodor is so serious all the time

sigma: aliengender - they/them - neu terms - aroace

currently experimenting with neos. nikolai is obviously helping. their whole thing is that they came from a book so they don't feel like they're "human" (imo, having emotions is what makes you human but its their existential crisis so). anyways i think because of this, they would feel a detachment from gender and would feel like no gender truly fits them but that aliengender fits best (even if its not a perfect fit)

bram: bigender (female + male) - he/she/they - neptunic

she definitely has conversations with nikolai and sigma about gender and how it's expressed. her and nikolai try to teach sigma about it but it just goes over their head (same). definitely goes into great detail describing what his gender feels like to sigma and they're honestly having a great time. gender tea parties every wednesday

fukuchi: trans male - he/him - masc terms - straight

bonded with fukuzawa over being trans. they definitely met in a gsa. tries to be supportive of nikolai but his head spins just thinking about all the neopronouns so they teach him a new set once a week to ease the process. fyodor makes fun of him for it

after being taught what neos are by jouno, mu went on a deep dive because ve found it interesting. jhey discovered so many neo ae like it was insane and also found a very fitting xenogender. they went to jouno and talked about it and finally told everyone else (fukuchi almost had a stroke trying to learn jheir pronouns).

NK: You ask her and she's got no clue what you're talking about, "Is that a dangerous virus I need to get? Are you manipulating me into-" or something, but I like to imagine she leans lesbian more than anything. IM1235 could explain all the letters in the LGBTQIA+ and she would still have no clue what she's saying, "isn't that just romance?? It's the same all the way around right??(or is she lying to me!!!???)"

B cell: B stands for Bisexual, he would totally hit squad leader if he was offered the chance. Clearly he leans more on liking women but I know what you are B cell 🫵👁️👁️

Memory cell: It would actually be so funny if he was the only straight one in the cast and he is just so supportive of whoever B cell chooses as his partner, no matter what B cell will be his grandson. He has read up on the history and culture of queer people just for B cell (B cell has never mentioned anything of this to him)

Dendritic cell: Pansexual? I don't think he'd really care about gender in the whole dating thing, as long as you cultivate his love for lactic acid bacteria he will cling to you forever (see Squad Leader)

M cell: He also barely knows what you're talking about, "What I'm attracted to? I don't know, I guess whatever my bad luck brings me to next." He's asexual with a preference for guys for romantic interest, he thinks that it's normal and that everyone's just like him.

Mast cell: 2D girls only ❗❗But I think he would be into some femboys (of course, only in anime)

Reg T: She doesn't date, both in thymus school and out of it, but if you were to make her choose (after seeing the mess that is HT and KT) she'd definitely choose women

Helper T: Aroace, valentine's day is an extra sweets day for him. He takes advantage of what allo people do for his own benefit, says Reg T is his partner just for discounts (Reg T is fine with it as long as there aren't any weird rumours) But just because he's Aroace doesn't mean he doesn't require attention 24/7 from his friends

3033: Gay. It's not obvious to people because if he's not getting work done he's going home to do his own thing, doesn't talk about it because it's never part of the conversation. Even when people are like "what type of girls are you into?" He says "ones that don't bother me off work if it's something about work." And then leaves.

hello hello! I revisited my old post, and it was messy af and I don't really headcanon a lot of these anymore. SO I PRESENT TO YOU:

I'll admit, I'm a paladin fiend -gestures at my 3 paladin pcs/ocs-

This little guy is partially homebrewed/partially fan-made dnd content that I took and ran with.

Delmar is an aasimar from a family sea elves who serves at the Temple of Rapids. Xey were sent out to stop a dispute between the local river spirit and the town that built a dam in their river.

I am not at all normal about him. I don't like alot of the art I have of the fella, but here's the best I've got on hand:

Xey mainly weild dual kopesh and enjoy fighting, although he still does his best to be diplomatic and fair.

G- I don't have any specific ocs that begin with G, but I will simply state Good Old Man Yaoi and being The Steil Ramble.

...so I may do a silly and in the campaign I both run and play in have Strahd attempt to seduce my Paladin Neil. Neil is in his late 30's, tired, and desperate to keep his party safe. I think that toxic yaoi would be fun. My players encourage me, unfortunately, so I have some funny bits planned :)

H- Nothing I can think of for H :(

L- Longing for something more (I am going to talk about my little oc for an ottome story my friend is making)

So in this Ottome thing, the main character is the nephew of the emporer and the first in like for the throne. My little guy, Cybil, is a high-up politician who is usually made to babysit the crown prince as the rest of the court looks down on him.

He generally tends to lean towards the power-hungry side, desperate to climb his way to the top, even if it means participating in a coup and slaughtering a majority of the coup. Oh well. Girlboss.

O- Just realized I could have put Old Man Yoai here. I may attempt to backtrack and leave an ao3 link to what I've written so far in the morning o7

I do end up telling at everyone, btw. I'm a bit pissed off near the end.

I'm a bit pissed off still...

I think the main reason I haven't come out to my parents as AroAce is because they're both very conservative Christans (LDS). They grew up that way, and they raised me that way. While they're open minded about a lot of things, they're close minded about a lot of things, too.

Both are very family oriented, my mother moreso than my father. They both want me and my sisters to get married and have kids and I don't know how to break it to them that I don't want that.

I've tried telling them without coming out. "The best I can offer are cats." or "I'm not interested in relationships." or the one I've been saying since I was in my single digits "I'm gonna be the crazy cat lady. I can't do that if I have other people I have to take care of."

(Honestly, that last one shoulda been my first clue. How the hell did I not know until senior year of hs?)

Both parents have brushed me off or ignored me completely. On several occasions. My aunts have all done the same. Some friends have done the same. All with varying excuses that I've already mentioned here before (and on TilTok).

I think the worst part is that they're both a bit transphobic, my father moreso than my mother. Mom is a bit more open minded (at least that I've noticed). She's a bit confused, but does her best to understand. Dad is a lot less so. He's actively watching things that are transphobic in nature or in passing, though I think he's realized that shit makes me uncomfortable, so he doesn't listen to it when I'm around. Only when he thinks I can't hear. (Doesn't work very well. I've got crazy good hearing and he watches with his speakers on full blast)

I'm not trans, but I have friends who are. My thought process is, if they can't accept that people are sometimes born in the wrong body, how will they ever accept someone stepping way back from what they were raised on?

Okay, I know those two things probably to connect in the way that I'm trying to convey, but I- I don't know how to explain it?

How do I convince people that I don't fall into the norms they were raised in when they can't even accept the norms that have been since the time of gods?

Does that make better sense?

The Queer Community has been around since humans started to walk the Earth. How does one explain this to people without things going to absolute shit?

I think I've gotten a bit off topic...

How does one tell their parents (who have been dreaming about their children having children to the point of "cursing" us with triplets) that getting married or having kids is not in their plans?

How does one get past the years of (what I can only label some kind of manipulation attempts) convincing that having kids and getting married will be the best thing to ever happen?

As I'm sure my fellow Aspecs can relate or attest to, it's extremely hard to tell a heteronormative society that you don't quite fall in with them. It's equally as hard to tell s homonormative group that you don't quite fit in with them, either.

On all sides, we're being pushed and pulled to fall in love and have families and have romances and have sex and all of these things! I think the reason we (at least from what little I've seen) feel so lonely is because we have little to no support. People on all sides are telling us we're wrong. People who are supposed to be on our team are telling us we're wrong.

Do you know how much that hurts?

Straight friends, gay friends, trans friends, queer friends, even fellow Aspecs have all told me some version of "You just haven't met your perfect person yet."

Fuck you.

Fuck whoever has ever said that in their life.

Fuck whoever has said that to someone who trusted them.

That line, and any line like it, is harmful.

I'm sorry you can't look past your rose coloured glasses to see the world. I'm sorry you can't pull your head outta your partner's(s) ass long enough to realize that not everyone is like you.

Yeah, I'm yelling at all of you. No discrimination here.

Hey, older members of the queer/MOGAI community: I know it sounds sad when you see so many teens online being exclus and trying to purge the community of the very ones who fought to get us here, but not all younger queer people are like that.

In real life/out of the internet, I know a transmasc (it/he/they, in order of preference) enby cannisgender who is aroace, mspec, and lesboy. It's girlfriend is a lesbianflex who uses she/he.

Another friend of mine (he/him) is a gay man who is also genderqueer and particularly feels he is somewhere between the extremes of "gay cis man gnc" and "transfem with queer attraction to men", and doesn't really care about that.

Another is a trans woman (she/he) who identifies as gay (mlm).

One more, is someone I know little about, but I've heard him say that he identifies as both gay (mlm) and trans(fem).

And I also know a genderfluid person (he/she, no preference) who is bisexual and identifies as gay, lesbian and straight.

And none of them are even of age.

What I'm trying to say is: Despite what some very loud exclus teens might make you think, the young queer community isn't all like that.

We're not all trying to control the use of other people's labels, nor are we trying to make labels into perfect boxes.

Off the internet, there are young queer people who have never even heard about all the discourse that goes on here.

Don't lose hope, don't think your community is getting lost. We're here. But we are living our lives in places far removed from exclusivists niches.

I hope this is the reminder you needed to see that the community still has good people :)

For the @jatp-adventevent prompt: Best & Worst Christmas memories?

Warning for Alex's parents being The Worst (TM) in this

Day Thirteen: Make The Yuletide Gay <-AO3!

Alex has always loved Christmas. Every year right after Thanksgiving ended, his dad dragged out the boxes, his mom set up the Advent candles, and Alex’s eyes would shine as they reflected the small flame, reciting the prayers, his heart glowing warm.

Alex loved the decorations, the tinsel and lights, the smell of pine that filled the house when he and his dad dragged in the tree. The carols that rang through the air echoing the church bells as they went to every service. Alex loved how the community came together, celebrating this joyous time of year.

Sure, he got in trouble for playing with the Nativity figurines, replacing them with his He-Man dolls and Olivia’s old Barbie's. Rolled his eyes through the lecture about respecting the sanctity of the display, and was way more sneaky about making the wise men fight.

His parents were happy to lavish them both with gifts, sitting back as Alex tore through the paper, finding toys and books and then one year, a drum set. Olivia got dolls at first, and then as she grew she got clothes and make-up, and then stuff she needed to help her once she got to med school. She stopped coming home once she was at college, and Alex kind of resented her for it. He missed his sister, so sue him.

Then Alex came out.

Things became downright frosty at home, his parents vehemently refusing to accept his sexuality-to accept him. They prayed for him a lot, bringing in Father Michaels to lecture him about the sin of homosexuality, of fire and brimstone.

“I tried praying about it Father,” Alex responded coolly. “But I’m still gay. And God doesn’t make mistakes. So he must want me to stay gay.”

“You’re not praying hard enough,” his father responded. “God will listen, he will cure you of this vile disease.”

Alex sat there, enduring the judgement, their hatred, their threats. But he knew he didn’t need a cure, he wasn’t sick. He had wrestled with the truth long enough, and everyone else in his life accepted him. Maybe it was his family who were the sick ones.

He wrote to Olivia, and even she told him she loved him, no matter what. Promised to try to come home that year. But she was married now, and her partner’s family were lovely and warm where the Mercer’s were not. Alex wondered if he could come spend the holidays with them instead. But their parents refused to let Alex go, and Olivia couldn’t go against them.

That year, Alex’s gifts were brochures for conversion camps, a very large Bible with all the parts about homosexuality and sin highlighted.

And porn.

Glossy magazines covered with mostly naked women in provocative poses that his father almost shoved under his nose. “Maybe you just need to see what you’re missing. These will straighten you out.”

Alex threw them away with the wrapping paper the next week.

The next year, he spent the holidays with Luke and Reggie, squatting in the garage they were using as a studio. The three of them didn’t make it to Christmas the year after that.

However, that wasn’t the last Christmas that Alex got to celebrate. Because he got to come back. As a ghost, granted, but here he was.

And the Molina's didn’t care that he was gay. Julie was openly bi, Victoria aroace, Carlos wasn’t sure where he fell. Ray was pretty tight lipped, but Julie confessed that her dad was ‘pretty open' and left it at that. He was pretty sure he wouldn’t get porn from them. Something super gay to make sure he felt accepted, yes. But not anything as traumatizing as that last gift from his dad.

Plus being a ghost meant he had Willie.

Willie who flaunted his queerness with pride, tagging homophobic stores with graffiti, stealing queer themed decorations to put on the little tree Julie had set up in the studio, wearing rainbow striped Santa hats and socks.

Willie, who took him through the botanical gardens that were all lit up with lights for the purpose of finding real mistletoe to kiss under. Who smuggled him out eggnog and gingerbread from the club to eat with the guys. Who gave him new drumsticks that he actually paid for (Alex didn’t ask where he got the money) and a set of matching rainbow socks.

Willie, who helped him track down Olivia.

She was older now, with an adult son named Patrick who looked like he could be Alex’s twin. Who looked at his moms with the utmost love, and who introduced his boyfriend to them without fear.

“Do you wanna go in?” Willie asked. “Tell her you’re okay?”

Alex shook his head. “Just knowing she is… that’s enough for me. Let’s go home.”

Willie grinned, took his hand, and poofed them back to the studio. Where he may have strung up some more of the mistletoe, and Alex smiled as he sank into the kiss. Sure, he was a ghost, and it kind of sucked some days. But this was shaping up to still be the best Christmas he’d had in a long time.
