so I’m gonna need some context for the tag about your grandma performing an exorcism, if you’re comfortable sharing.

yeah sure alright. before we get started i wanna preface this by saying:

a) i was a very small child when this happened and i discount any "memories" i have of it because i think they're probably heavily impacted by the stories i've heard, so basically i don't claim any firsthand knowledge with this experience. and,

b) going off of that point, all of what i'm about to tell you is based off of stories i have heard from my mother, father, and patrilineal grandmother.

cool? cool. alrighty.

my mom has a history of seeing ghosts (which is a whole other can of worms) and you can decide for yourself if the ghosts she sees are real or the side effect of carbon monoxide poisoning, psychosis, etc. she's avoided any medical diagnoses that would explain her ghost-seeing abilities because she keeps that information strictly inside of the family. she's been seeing ghosts since she was a very small child. it's a whole thing.

and on top of that, she has a lot of experience with haunted places (according to her, all but one of the houses that she lived in growing up were haunted, and she lived in a lot of different places due to her family's lifestyle) so she can kinda gauge when a house is haunted just by existing in the place for a little bit. but not all hauntings feel the same (when a spirit is neutral, malevolent, benevolent, the vibes just feel different. it's a gut feeling sorta thing) so when she and my dad decided to buy their first house she stepped in the front door and knew it was haunted, but also that the spirit was really benign, so they didn't care that much and they got a good deal and they decided to move in. and because she got the vibe that it was haunted right away, she wasn't surprised when she saw a man in his night clothes standing at the bottom of the staircase in the house. what DID surprise her was that my dad saw him too.

my dad isn't as good at seeing ghosts as my mom is, just as a general fact. again, we don't know why. it's a whole thing. but they both saw the man at the bottom of the stairs. when they noticed him, they kept it to themselves at first, but somehow it came up in conversation not long into them living in the house, and when they described the man that they saw to each other, their descriptions of him matched. again, take this as you will. according to my parents, the man didn't seem angry, or sad - just lonely and a little confused. so he just sorta became a part of life in the house? they didn't see him all the time, just every now and then, and when he was there it wasn't that weird. my parents just had this unspoken look they would share like, "oh, looks like the man's back." but they didn't really talk about it.

(that's another thing my mom has about ghosts: she says you shouldn't talk about them when you're on their property, because they don't like it. she won't really elaborate, but the few times i've personally been in a haunted place with her, she won't let me talk about the haunting until we're a good distance away from the property. also, from what i gather, she doesn't like to refer to ghosts as ghosts. on the occasions when she will actually refer to them directly, she refers to them like they're normal people. so my dad and her didn't really talk about the ghost of the man at the bottom of the stairs, and when they did, they didn't refer to him as a ghost. he was just the man at the bottom of the stairs).

(i know this sounds kinda crazy, man. i'm sorry.)

a little while later, i was born, and they've told me that they got the vibe that i could see the man too? idk. i can't really give my personal input on that one. i have some foggy memories of seeing a man fitting his description going up and down the steps, and of someone standing at the bottom of the stairs when i was playing in the living room as a child, but again, i discount all of this because i think it's just too messy considering how young i was at the time and how the stories i've heard about the haunting probably impacted my memory.

but the point is, when i was born, my dad's mom of course wanted to come over to meet her grandkid. my grandma lives overseas, so this didn't happen immediately. it was a couple years of my life before she ever met me in person, from my understanding. but when she eventually came over to the states to visit, we were still living in that same house. before my grandma came to visit, my parents talked to each other about the whole "man at the bottom of the stairs" thing and they decided they just weren't going to bring it up. good plan.

so my grandma came over, they picked her up from the airport, she met me in person and they showed her into the house and they set her up in her room for the night and everyone went to bed. uneventful. the next morning, at breakfast, my parents were both up and my dad was making food for everyone and my mom was at the table drinking tea i think. and apparently my grandma walked out of the bedroom and the first thing she said was, "so were you going to tell me about the man who stands by your staircase?"

my parents were not expecting that. and they had no idea how to respond.

a quick aside about my grandma: she's kinda weird. she's my dad's mom, but they don't know each other that well for reasons we just don't have time to get into right now. in the brief moments when she saw him during his childhood, he remembers her teaching him how to read tarot cards. the tarot cards were allegedly an old family set, but were lost during a flood that also robbed us of decades of photo albums and letters and diaries and other family heirlooms. so. grain of salt. she makes little spells and charms to keep us safe. that sorta thing. and maybe it's just because she was massively involved in the hippie movement as a young adult. but yeah. there's something going on there. my grandma also has this whole thing where if she touches electronics when she's mad or upset, they malfunction. or they die. and whenever someone in the family wants something to go well for them, we ask her to light a candle for us. just in case. yknow.

my mom and my grandma disagree on a lot of erm for lack of a better word spiritual things. my mom hates tarot decks because she believes they invite spirits in, like a door you can't lock completely no matter how hard you try, and my grandma thinks they're a handy tool. my mom isn't religious in any direction, meanwhile my grandma tells me that the angels are fond of me and watch over me. stuff like that. and, most importantly: my mom thinks that if there's a ghost hanging out somewhere, and they're not doing anything to mess with your life, you should just let them hang out and chill. because they're just some guy and they're not hurting anyone. but my grandma? she thinks that if there's a ghost haunting your house, you should get rid of that sucker. no matter what.

apparently, though, the rest of breakfast was uneventful. my mom clearly didn't want to talk about it (remember her rule about talking about hauntings), and my dad didn't want to upset my mom, and my grandma dropped the line of conversation.

that night, my parents woke up to the sound of something like glass or pottery breaking. my mom remembers smelling smoke like faint incense or maybe a strong candle, or maybe both. it's fuzzy. they got up the next morning to find two of my mom's favorite vases shattered, some new candles on the mantle, and my mom's gut feeling about the house changed. like something about it had shifted.

apparently, my grandma was sitting in the living room when they got up that morning. when she saw them, she said something like, "it's alright, i took care of it."

and they didn't see the man at the bottom of the stairs again.

so my mom still has minor beef with my dad's mom about that one time she performed an exorcism over a ghost that my mom didn't even mind having in the house, and who broke two of her favorite vases on the way out.

#for those of you who have heard this story before: in the past i may have referred to this ghost as the man at the top of the stairs #but my parents have since informed me that he was actually at the bottom of the stairs.#i got it mixed up. whoops. it happens.#too many ghosts man.#anon #ask

Chapter 3.

Benny walks up to the door, plate of cling wrapped chocolate chip cookies in hand, and looks over his shoulder. His eyes meet with his grandma who's standing a few feet behind him, giving the boy a wicked stare.

She was gonna make sure he introduced himself.

He gulps and hesitantly rings the doorbell.

After a bit of waiting, and hearing many shuffling footsteps, there's a crack in the door. A single brown eye meets him.

"Hi?"

"Ahem, Hello. My Name is Benny Weir.” He says in a monotone, scripted voice. ”Is this the Morgan residence?"

"Uh. Are you a solicitor or something?" the voice answers “my parents aren’t home.”

“Am I a what?!?”

“You know, like a solicitor,” The eye glances around ”are you trying to sell me something?”

“Oh… No.”

Benny thought. Never mind.

"I just moved in next door and I wanted to introduce myself” he shuffles in place “and I brought cookies.”

“That’s funny I just moved in too,” the door fully opens. “Come on in.”

Benny finally gets to see the entire person standing behind the door.

It’s the same brown headed keyboarder he saw earlier. He held himself in an overly anxious posture, not knowing what to do with himself.

“So, what's your name and where can I put this?”

"Uhhhh,” he says with a shaky voice, gesturing to the coffee table. “you can put the plate over there.”

“And..?” Benny walks into the living room, awaiting a response.

"Uh… Ethan. Morgan." he says as if he wasn't sure of himself.

As Benny sets down the plate he notices the lit xbox controller and tangled headphones on the table, and looks at the tv.

"Yooo omg,” He stares at the gray pause screen “you have Left for Dead TWO?!?"

"Yeah." he laughs "My teammates are probably pissed at me for leaving."

"Oh my goddd multiplayer" Benny puts his head back "I'm so jealous"

"Have you not played it yet?"

"Augh yeah, I haven't had much time for videogames ever since I started my band." He boasts, shooting a smirk towards his new neighbor.

"You have a band?"

"Well er,” his confidence quickly deflates “used to."

"Oh, what happened?"

"I. Had to move." Benny’s smile is completely gone.

"Aw that sucks." Ethan twiddles his thumbs, Benny obviously didn’t wanna talk about this, "Do u wanna play left for dead?"

"WOULD I?" he excitedly jumps to Ethans couch, making himself comfortable.

"Shit, wait, I only have one controller." Ethan wasn’t used to having so many IRL people interested in playing video games with him.

Benny pogs "Omg, I totally got one at home! I'll be right back"

Before Ethan could even object, Benny rushes out the door and breezes past his grandma.

"Was it that bad?" She shouts

"NO!!” he yells, tripping over himself “I GOTTA GET MY XBOX CONTROLLER!!"

Grandma stands puzzled but assumes that means he’ll be coming back.

Benny rushes up stairs, winded and out of breath, he quickly digs through his backpack and remembers how everything was soaked.

He finds the hopefully not broken, white xbox controller and sprints back to Ethans.

"Hi. Hello.” he says in between pants. “I’m back."

"Idk. if this works. but." he hands Ethan the controller and puts his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath.

Ethan untangles the long windy cable wrapped around the controller and plugs it in.

"Hmmm,” Ethan says, holding and releasing the large X button over and over “It's not turning on"

"Bummer." Benny sighs.

"Do ya know what happened to it?"

"Yeah..." He sets himself on Ethan’s couch, rubbing the nape of his neck "All of my stuff kinda got wet since It was pouring from the airport til’ I got home."

"Rough," Ethan unplugs the controller, tilting it around to examine the damage, "I could try fixing it."

"Really?" Benny jumps out of his seat and puts both of his arms on Ethan’s shoulders “You can do that?!”

"I can try,” Ethan says failing to mask his blush, “I've never really done water damage before though."

"Well,” Benny lets go of him. “I mean it's not like you can break it even more."

"You'd be surprised." Ethan looks off to the side, remembering the box of broken electronics rotting on his To Do list. “Here, I have some tools in my room.”

“Woahh tools,” Benny teases, following Ethan up stairs “very manly."

They enter his box filled room.

Benny scoffs. "Haven't finished unpacking but still had your videogames out" he shakes his head.

"Augh hey! Blame Jane, not me."

"Who's jane?"

"Ah my.. half- wait step sister."

Benny impulsively says "Is she hot?"

Ethan’s heart sinks at the comment "She's eight."

"Ah," Benny uncomfortably tugs at his polo collar “Sorry.”

Ethan shakes his head as he scrolls though his phone, pulling up a how to wikia page.

“Hmmm,” he glances over the steps. “Yeah I can totally do this.”

“That's awesome, thank you dude!” Benny cheers looking over his shoulder.

“No problem.” Ethan starts digging through a large brown box labeled TOOLS and pulls out a screwdriver. “Wanna give me a hand?”

“Sure thing, Just tell me what to do!” Benny says positioning himself over the box.

Ethan tries to unscrew the controller's casing, “Ah, it's way too big.”

“That’s what she said.” Benny laughs

Ethan shoots him a very, very judgmental look. “Can you, um, hand me another screwdriver?”

“Of course” He says, replacing the one he was holding with a smaller one.

He tests it and replies “too small”

“That’s what she said…”

“Actually.”

Ethan starts to regret his life choices. “You can just go. Play downstairs or something. I got this.”

Benny pogs “OH MY GOD REALLY?”

“Yeah sure, you seem excited to play it. I don't wanna keep you waiting.”

Benny shakes him “you're the best man!” he practically sprints down stairs, skipping every other step.

Ethan quietly remarks to himself “Of course I get a crush on the first guy I see.”

He shakes his head and finally unscrews the first bolt on the controller's shell.

Benny plops down on Ethan's couch downstairs and scammers for the controller to start up the xbox

Benny's hands shake excitedly watching the xbox logo form on screen.

He puts on the flimsy gray headset.

Right when the xbox menu loads up, he sees a message from one of Ethan’s friends pop up on the screen.

"Xx_420Ror-ster_xX: dude did ur power go out or somethng???”

He then gets a party invite from said user Xx_420Ror-ster_xX

Benny accepts it and joins the call.

"Hey E wuz up?" a squeaky voice asks

Benny stays silent.

"Bro?"

Suddenly he gets a mischievous idea and a stupid smile spreads across his face.

"Muahahahaha! I hacked this account!"

Rory screams in terror. “No!”

“Yes!” Benny coughs, "I really just hacked him so I could play Left for Dead 2. Can you teach me how to play?"

"Why would I play with a hacker like you? I could get banned!!"

"Do it or I'll leak your ip."

They play a few rounds together.

Ethan's dad comes home and is startled to see a lengthy teenage boy sitting in his living room.

“Hello?”

"Hi." Benny says, eyes glued on the screen.

"Um,” He looks around, “why are you in my house?"

"Oh Ethan let me in!"

"Uh, Where's Ethan?"

“Oh, uh he’s in his room.” He says, putting all his attention on the screen in front of him. "Can't. Really. Talk Rn!"

He tilts his head and heads up stairs to Ethan's room.

There Ethan offers his dad a way better explanation.

"Oh he's our next door neighbor and wanted to meet us!"

"Why is he just playing video games downstairs by himself though?"

"Because only one controller works..."

"Alright...” Ethan’s Dad shakes his head “Why didn't he just say that??"

He walks off disgruntled.

After an hour or so, Ethan comes out of his room. Exhausted and tired waving Benny’s now perfectly refurbished, white xbox controller.

"Aw that's great dude!”

Benny has been playing for hours and wants to take a break before he plays with Ethan, they go to the kitchen to snack on grandma’s homemade cookies.

Ethan takes a bite out of one while pouring them a glass of milk and chews on it, trying to mask his disgust.

Benny takes one bite out of it and spits it out.

“Ew you like this stuff?”

“No… I don't,” Ethan puts down the half eaten cookie back on the plate. “I was just trying to be polite.”

“Omg dude don't worry I didn’t even make these,” Benny Laughs “my grandma did.”

“Oh thank god,” He shakes his head, putting the milk back in the fridge "Sooo what do you play?"

"Oh uh I guess mostly Xbox and PC games lik-"

"No no," Ethan cuts him off "I mean like what instrument did you play for your band?"

"Ohh. I played the drums and guitar and i was the lead singer!" he adds on.

"That's sick! Could I hear your stuff?"

"yeah! I can burn a CD for you!"

Suddenly there's a knock at the door, Ethan answers it and its grandma weir!

"Come on lets go Benny its time for dinner."

"Awe come on i didn't even get to play any video games with him yet!"

"But you've been here for hours!"

"Yeah but-"

"Lets go, you can come back later."

"Augh okay" he looks over at Ethan solemnly, heading towards the door.

"Wait,” Ethan stops him, “do you want your controller back?"

"Nah keep it, you fixed it anyways.” He smiles “Thanks for letting me play."

"Hey it's no problem," he holds Benny back a second longer. Trying to find the courage to say "could we play together some time?"

"Oh for sure! How does tomorrow sound?"

"Tomorrow sounds great." Ethan peeps.

Myth AU Ideas Part 1

I’m mixing different canons together for this with dt17 being the base.

Some of The Coots and Ducks have creature forms but it’s a 50% chance overall. (It’s genetics in this case. While with the McDucks it’s a bit of genetics and curses) Here are some of them that have creature forms:

Coots: Elivira Coot (Grandma Duck), Casey Coot, Gus Goose, Don de Pato aka Don Dugo, Cuthbert Coot, etc

(fun fact while doing some looking into Don de Pato, also Don Dugo is his German name. he was originally from the McDucks, but in the LOT3C he was changed to be a Coot ancestor instead. Also the conquistador armor makes more sense now cause he’s actually from Spain. His creature form would most likely be something Spanish but idk yet and with the others idk what there creature forms would be. Also that maybe Panchito and José’s ancestors would also have a form, there’s will also be European for Jose’s ancestor Pascoal Papagaio it would be Portuguese not Brazilian because of the time period same with Panchito’s ancestor Gallus Maximus it would be Spanish not Mexican.)

Ducks: Pintail Duck, Eider Duck, Abner Whitewater Duck, HumperDink Duck, etc

people with creature forms have two different puberty’s the regular puberty and first few transformations.

In Lena’s redemption arc in the au will be a bit different her creature form changes a bit kinda like the mlp changelings in season 6.

Goldie is a mix between a Sirin and Alicanto from Russian and Chilean myths with a bit of Siren. Alicanto is a gold associated mythical bird and Sirin is a bird woman hybrid.

Those who have creature forms are usually seen as a different group compared to those who don’t have one, you usually can’t tell someone has one unless you see them transform. There sometimes seen as a minority depending on the location.

There’s an really rare case where one person has more than one creature form, it’s usually for those with a personality disorders for example D.I.D. but can also happen without the personality disorders, but it’s extremely rare.

The Legend of Three Caballeros Versions of April, May, and June will be in this au as Daisy’s nieces along side the clones May and June from dt17 canon. Webby is not a clone of Scrooge in this au or any au/ new headcanons I make. but May and June are still clones of Webby. TLoTC April May and June all have creature forms I don’t know what they’ll be yet.

All Duck AU’s and OC’s Ideas and shit

Super Paper Ducktales Ideas: im going to try not spoil anything from the game (even tho it’s 15 years old but still) cause I highly recommend you watch a let’s play or play it for yourself to understand what im trying to do. Plus it’s a amazing game.

Since Mimi is Webby (kid minion) and Della (adult minion) they both should have the “true” form like Mimi does In the original game (if you know you know) idk if I’ll stick with the spider aspect of the original or go for something different. The Thing aspect of the original will still be there, it has to be terrifying.

Some scenes change depending on the version of the au. Like for example the love simulator portion of chapter 3-4 will stay both versions with slight differences.

Im thinking Gladstone or Dapper Duck for Bowser in the adult hero version, but Im debating whether or not it’s a good idea.

Some events are completely changed or removed to make it fit more with the duckverse.

Angst potential everywhere. >:) Donald and Louie get tortured to hell and back (literally) just like Luigi does in the original game. (My favs getting lots of trauma is my fav thing to do cause I love em)

Some Super Paper Mario lore (and yes there is more for this, seriously look it up) will stay the same like pixels origins for example, while others will change to be more close to the duckverse like the origin of the prophecies. Etc.

Mythology AU:

I’m adding aspects of the legend of the three caballeros, cause I love that show and the mythology parts of the show fit perfectly with what my au is about in a way. And aspects of other duckverse canon.

The forms for Jose and Panchito’s ancestors are based on forms from Portugal and Spain or Rome, due to the most possible time period which is the 16th century, during that time Portugal and Spain conquered Brazil and Mexico. Theirs come from curses (this is the reason why Jose and Panchito don’t have creature forms because it never passed on to their families. Maybe some family members would have one but it’s rare.) not blood like Don de Pato, who passed it on to some members of the coot kin. Their forms are: El Coco, El Cuco, etc from Spanish and Portuguese folklore for Gallus Maximus (Panchito’s ancestor) and for Pascoal Papagaio (Jose’s ancestor) Besta-Fera a Portuguese centaur.

The Shellgoose family could have creature forms as well that comes from a curse from passed on through the generations. It could skip generations. (There’s also a the possibility that Gladstone could be part shellgoose as well which honestly is a really interesting theory)

Xandra has some knowledge on the possible origins of why the mythicals exist.

People who have creature/true forms are called mythicals

April, May, and June (not the clones) have creature forms, but there’s will be different from each other. But I’m still thinking of what it will be.

Like the Super Paper Ducktales au some things will change others will be removed or added to fit with the duckverse.

The only ones I’ve thought of so far are the Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask eras. And some characters roles.

Describe the scent of the last hair product you used. Idk, it just smells nice. It’s quite hard to describe the smell of hair products if they aren’t fruity or floral or whatever hahaha.

What was the last food or drink that you tried for the first time? Garlic confit. I initially wasn’t going to touch it because I don’t like garlic, but then I remembered how much the entire meal cost lol...turns out it went super well with the steak I also had.

^Did you like it? Yes! I don’t think I’d ever seek it out, but it was a great first try.

What was the last business in your town/city that closed down? The local milk tea place :( It was the only nearby spot where you could get milk tea, so it kinda sucks that now we have to drive a little bit.

I invited Kaye and Lea - high school classmates - to my house to watch the BTS concert with me, Angela, Hans, and Reena; and at the end of the month Laurice, Jum, Jo, and I all went out for dinner and a couple of drinks.

Do you watch a lot of horror movies? Not really. I don’t have a lot of friends who are into horror, which is how I prefer to watch scary stuff these days. I’m a far cry from my high school self who used to watch The Shining and Carrie on my own lol.

I saw his piano cover of The Astronaut and didn’t even think twice about subscribing. Turns out he’s bigger on TikTok and that he’s done a bunch of covers of other BTS songs too, so I subscribed so that I don’t miss out on any future covers he might do.

i had to do some testing today and got out right as the fic came out AND I AM IN LOVE with this. this is the perfect amount of cutesy fluff i needed in my life.

and katelyn thinks it's ridiculously adorable how tiny aaron is and obviously she uses him as an armrest all the time

before i get super distracted, i just wanna mention that aaron met sav and cleo towards the end of november, so they missed the twin's birthday

but sav still insists that she must take him shopping bcs sure his fashion sense is fine but there's always room for improvement, isn't there, aaron??

he relents, so long as she and cleo and katelyn ( who already gave him a birthday present?? why's she doing this??? ) don't spend too much money

sav drags him all around south carolina to the best thrift stores she can find and cleo and katelyn are amazed that she can get such fantastic deals on the supermodel clothes she wears

fr she's literally a fashion design major ( + minoring in business management ) and she shows up to class in skilfully done drugstore makeup and an absolutely killer outfit for like 15 bucks

she grew up poor, and she's still poor now, even if she ( thankfully ) managed to scrape a cheerleading scholarship

sav, flicking through a rack of dresses labelled $4 apiece: RIP to little miss rich bitch reynolds but i'm different ;)

no hate to allison she's awesome but she grew up in the lap of luxury surrounded by designer brands so she knows NOTHING about thrifting and rationing money in general

oh and sav and allison have kind of a frenemies thing going on bcs they're both fighting for the top spot of their fashion design course

they spend the whole day shopping and aaron ends up with a highly upgraded wardrobe that contains a lot of cute pastel stuff and sav's promise to do his makeup

aaron insists on paying for dinner at the really nice pizza place a short drive from campus even tho they all protest

and andrew knows he's found new friends, but has no idea that it's the vixens and he's dating one of them. nicky does tho, but he's sworn to secrecy

nicky thinks his new clothes are adorable and is stunned when aaron tells him the total cost

"oh my GOD that girl sounds like a genius."

"yeah, her name's sav. you guys,, would get along, i think."

okay now for the winter break part!!

i think that you can get permission to stay at dorms if you're an international student or something??

anyways since sav's super upset bcs her father straight-up told her not to come home bcs he has a new girlfriend ( god i hate sav's father )

katelyn would stay with her, but her dad can finally have her home in new york for christmas and she really doesn't want to miss it

cleo, the only one with a properly functional family, is going back to her big family house and loving parents and grandma and aunt and siblings and cousins. love that for her.

so aaron and sav are stuck at psu for 2 weeks and aaron's surprisingly cool with this. and sav's excited bcs for the first time since her mom died, she can spend her christmas with someone she actually wants around instead of her shitty-ass father and his constant stream of bitchy girlfriends

they spend a lot of time together, stealing food from the athlete's dining hall to make their own weird combos, which usually ends with aaron making something Cool and Interesting and sav gagging and spitting out whatever strange concoction she had previously insisted would taste good

i literally can't bring myself to give a shit about the twinyards' deal bcs andrew literally became best friends with renee?? and hooks up with guys at eden’s??? idk what's going on there but it's like andrew is trying to control aaron's life while he can do whatever he wants??? and honestly wtf????

also let me just make it clear that i ADORE andrew so so much he's one of my favourite comfort characters ever but i'm not gonna make excuses for his shitty behaviour. i fully believe he heals and puts away his pride to apologise to aaron, nicky, and kevin for his treatment of them

that's definitely not to say that aaron's internalised homophobia isn't eww, but with so many important people in his life gay, he makes a huge effort to get over it

so andrew just thinks that aaron is spending a lot of time in the library or out with nicky or something

and when aaron tells sav about this deal, she's kinda horrified, but it's pretty clear to her that aaron so desperately wants to fix his relationship with his brother, and she's not in any place to discourage him, is she?

the only thing she can do is hope that he won't come out all the worse for it

and stare at the boy curled up on the other end of the pale pink sofa cleo's parents had gotten, wonder just how much shit he'd been put through, and decide she was going to be his best friend

aaron's face has gone entirely impassive. sav nudges his fluffy-socked foot with her own, then reaches out to smooth the crease between his eyebrows. "careful, you'll wrinkle your pretty little face."

aaron is very caught off guard by this, and very promptly flushes bright red, which contrasts with the pale teal hoodie he stole from katelyn

"okay, enough talk about depressing crap. wanna go make christmas cookies now?"

"yeah."

so they make christmas cookies. well, it was supposed to be christmas cookies, but it turns into double chocolate fudge cookies somewhere along the line. neither of them knows how

them baking together is the definition of chaos. they're still blasting songs, and sav is singing along terribly

"yOu'Re A mEaN oNe, Mr. GrInCh," while poking aaron's cheek as he tries to mix something. he throws a handful of flour at her. "yOu ReAlLy ArE A hEel."

anyways obviously sav retaliates and that ends in a flour fight. it only stops when aaron deadass cracks an egg on sav's head and she smears chocolate into his hair

she also tries to make him sing along to baby, it's cold outside

"i'Ve GoT tO Go `wAAyyy~" she holds a spatula up to his face

"go away."

they video call katelyn, who takes one look at the mess in the cramped dorm kitchen and sighs so loudly and dramatically that her dad pops in and asks if everything's okay

aaron freezes up at the sight of him and sav quickly turns off the camera, bcs they both want to make good impressions on him, and being covered in various cookie ingredients just won't cut it, ya know?

the cookies turn out delicious and sav sends all their group chat various photos of the process, most of which consist of selfies with her making goofy faces while aaron is simultaneously baking and flipping off the camera

plus a several videos of sav enthusiastically dancing and mouthing the lyrics of, as follows, all i want for christmas is you, let it snow, and santa claus is coming to town and aggressively pointing a spatula at aaron

"c'mon aari, just sing! please??? please???? please you can do it i believe in you!!"

finally he just. gives up. "okay, you know what? fine, i'll sing to ONE and then you will STOP bothering me you insolent dumbass."

sav beams. santa baby starts playing. aaron is very clearly going through five stages of grief in 0.5 seconds

"go on," sav says sweetly as she slides in next to a pouting aaron, "i'll sing with you."

sav slings an arm around his shoulder and sways with him, so it's just her doing that and him grumpily mumbling the lyrics

and when the cookies are cooling down, they start cleaning the kitchen up. aaron rubs some spilled egg yolk into sav's hair but it goes pretty okay otherwise, since they're just listening to more christmas songs and chatting about light stuff, like aaron's biochem course, sav's fashion course, and their dumb classmates

aaron mostly listens tho, and learns that sav kind of hates allison reynolds for giving up her inheritance when she would do ANYTHING for even the tiniest fraction of that money

but she still thinks allison's gorgeous bcs c'mon

and that sav's dream is to one day open her own boutique!!

aaron spends most of the actual christmas day with the monsters at eden's bcs nicky and andrew wanted to

DUDE I’M DONE WITH SCHOOL WHICH MEANS I CAN WRITE MORE YAYYYY!

anyway, this is meant to be a little headcanon thing for a series i’ve been planning that is, obviously, based on the movie coraline. it’ll be a reader insert for you to enjoy as well :) this is basically a “ateez as characters in coraline,” but my plan is to still make them unique to the story. i hope you like this!

warnings: this does not match at all swearing, angsty situations, borderline crack (you’ll see), i think i make one sex joke, allusions to depression - PLEASE take caution when you read yunho’s part. i don’t think i go into any specifics, but his gets serious that i just want you to be aware

Reader’s backstory: you’ve lived with your grandmother who owns the pink palace apartments since you were a teenager so you can help her out as she gets older. the pink palace isn’t the most well-known, but it’s gotten a pretty negative rap since the disappearance of your best friend in high school. it’s hard living there still, but you know your grandma needs the support. you know nearly all of the ins and outs of the place, and all of the tenants adore both you and your grandma

Wooyoung and Yeosang ~ Spink and Forcible

they’ve been friends for years and bicker and tease each other like they’re married and still love and support each other? yeah

wooyoung and yeosang are childhood friends

they mostly did dance in high school but they were also in theater, and they were kinda well known for being The Best™

they were recruited to join a lot of teams and a lot of colleges wanted them because they were just??? amazing??? how tf??

so yeah they earned a lot of recognition in high school that honestly got them really famous from when they were 16 onward

it’s been a few years since then and so the hype around them has definitely died down but we’ll get to that

they are currently still working on stuff in regards to dancing and acting

they’re technically in college too, but they do online classes so they can stay at home and work on their shows

wooyoung is the idealist while yeosang is the realist

like i said, they act like an old married couple always bickering and fighting but they really do love each other

ride or die best friends dude

it’s just that they say they’ll do certain things or are planning things soon and it just… doesn’t happen

that’s mostly idealist woo talking before yeosang can reign him in

so for years it’s been a lot of empty promises of new work that many people just stopped expecting things from them

and because of that they’ve past their peak and are basically just in limbo before they are actually able to make/perform their next show or something like that

they rent the basement apartment of the pink palace, and they’ve technically lived in there the longest actually

growing up, both of their families lived there so that was how they met and became the best of friends :)

they didn’t want to leave either but they had to for a couple years

but at least they stayed together :)

their families moved back when the boys were about a year into high school just because the old woman who owns the place is a gem and the city had a great school for them to go to

while they were living there though a boy around their age went missing, and it basically convinced their families that they should move out

wooyoung and yeosang were very adamant about staying, so their families told them you’re either moving away with us or finding a way to pay for the apartment yourselves

so the next day wooyoung and yeosang went out and found themselves some jobs so that they could

it upset their parents sure, but they were also kinda proud that they took so much initiative about this - they knew they would succeed in life

it also factored into why grandma let them stay because she knew the same thing

the sweet woman even said she would help them out from time to time :(

then cue the next 3-4 years where woo and yeo are making a bunch of money with their dances teams and performing in shows

they’ve gotten a good amount of money over the years that they’ve been able to renovate the basement so that it’s really nice

now they have posters of their “golden years” (as wooyoung says) from high school and their first years of college all around their place

they have a dog and have been seriously considering getting more because he’s getting kind of old :(

they don’t really get out much bc they are constantly trying to plan and work on their shows, but it’s fine because there’s nothing really close to the pink palace :/ the closest city where they went to school is quite the commute

but because of all this - the empty promises, the lack of activity, the radio silence - no one really takes them seriously anymore, and really people just stopped believing in them

it’s a major factor in their motivation and work ethic, but they try their hardest not to let it deter them from what they want to do in life

Mingi, San, and Jongho ~ The Amazing Bobinsky

trust me here ok?

mingi, san, and jongho start their own circus right out of high school

hear me out

the boys all went to high school together, but jongho is a year younger than them so they all graduated at different times

however they had a lot of classes together because they didn’t really care much about school and it reflected on their academics

so they were put in a lot of lower classes together that they all did well in, they just didn’t care about school

their circus started out as a joke honestly

it was probably edgy teen jongho who was like “ugh i hate school i should just drop out and join the circus”

and it became a running joke between them like haha yeah let’s join the circus, who would we all be tho?

mingi and san were both very adamant that jongho would be the strongman what with all his fruit breaking endeavors and the buff buff arms dude

san did martial arts and liked dancing and was very flexible so he was like ayy i’ll be the acrobat

it took them a while to decide what mingi would be because they were like “huh well what about the lion tamer?” “you know how much of a fraidy cat he is?” “ok well what about a trapeze artist?” “he’s a great dancer and flexible sure, but would he ever be able to have that kind of coordination?” “ok fine then what about a clown?” “fuck you guys”

they chose sword swallower mostly because like??? how does it work?? idk mingi should find out

and yeah for a while it was a running joke between all of them like yeah we’re gonna drop out of school and join the circus lol

but then come mingi and san’s senior year and they were like… hang on

could… could we actually do this? it sounds fun as hell

it went as far as them all researching circuses in their spare time and income and how to go about joining one

and it ended with them not wanting to live the lifestyle of a traveling circus

sure it sounded cool as fuck, but while they were somewhat willing to live with those conditions, they weren’t willing enough

so the next best thing for them would be to start their own circus

of course, how do you tell your parents that what you want to be when you grow up is a circus performer?

the answer: you don’t

whenever they were asked things likes “oh what do you want to do in college?” they all just kinda passed it off as they didn’t know, but in reality they didn’t really have any desire to go to college

you don’t need a degree to start a circus, so they didn’t really want to

once mingi and san graduated, they immediately started looking for affordable apartments where they could do their thing - start their circus

in all honesty they started looking before they graduated too, partially since they would be moving out after hs but also because they just felt better about not living with their parents

they had seen the pink palace in the newspaper a lot with a vacant attic apartment, and basically since they found out about it they were sold on it

a weird place in the middle of nowhere run by a woman who doesn’t mind housing younger people? perfect

they actually met her before they graduated so they could see about renting the apartment sooner or later

grandma all but told them it was there’s once she met the boys, and she understands that when they are finally able to start living there they will be pretty tight on money, so she doesn’t even make them pay the down payment - she does that herself and holds the apartment for them

because let’s face it: the pink palace isn’t very big,, it already has a good amount of people living there,,, how many people are actually gonna consider moving to the middle of nowhere to actually live there?

plus she likes these three boys, so she wants to help them as much as she can

so yeah once mingi and san graduate, they are basically ready to move into the pink palace

but this is technically after that boy went missing and after the case turned cold, so grandma doesn’t want to rent to anyone new

but she already assured the boys that the attic was theirs, and she’s not about to break that promise

so before giving the boys the keys she gives them the lowdown of what’s been going on and what will happen in the future

they know the boy went missing, but she explains to them all that happened and that it gives the pink palace a bad rap (even though she hardly cares about that), so she wouldn’t normally be doing something like this but they will be the last people she lets rent from her

and they don’t completely understand because they have no idea what this has been doing to the poor old woman, but they understand enough and are grateful for her that she’s still letting them live there

they decide then that it would be better for jongho to start living with them now even before he’s graduated just so it’s less of a change for grandma in the future

which jongho is totally okay with because he honestly would rather live with them anyway

but uh yeah mingi, san, and jongho are the last ones to start renting at the pink palace for a long while

they split rent three ways so that it’s less burdensome on them, and they all have jobs so that they can afford it

mingi and san work full time while jongho has a part time job while he finishes school

but full time they are all preparing and planning their circus!!

takes a lot of throat training for mingi 😏 since he is literally putting swords down his throat, and he started this basically right when they decided their circus was going to be real

san and jongho have advantages because they already have some skill in their areas, but that doesn’t mean they don’t train

san still takes martial arts and dance, and he’s even signed up for gymnastics to help him with his flexibility

jongho basically spends all of his spare times working out (mostly lifting weights) so that he can really be strong

but also jongho has a thing for rats/mice and is like “hey,, why don’t we use them for something so that it’s not just us?”

and the boys lowkey are like wtf dude why but then again who are they to shut down his ideas when they are literally starting a circus?

so they’re like fine but that’s on you to decide how to do that and to plan the act

jongho: yessss ratssss

also jongho: NO they’re not RATS they’re MICE these are MICE THANK YOU

this is the “jumping mice” aspect of the coraline movie with bobinsky just fyi

a lot of jongho’s time in school is spent in the science and psychology departments talking to teachers about animals (specifically rats/mice) and how to train and work with them

the teachers are all kinda like… what? but also they are just happy that jongho is interested in something enough to come to the teachers and ask questions and apply himself

lmao it’s not for school tho

so he learns a lot of this information at school and honestly this might be the only thing he learns at school because soon enough he’s graduating with a bunch of knowledge on how to work with and train animals

once out of high school he starts working full time too so that money and rent is even easier

all of their extra money that isn’t toward rent and bills and groceries go to their circus

they hardly ever buy new clothes unless it’s something for their circus

also the boys had to go to grandma to ask if they could house mice in their apartment, and while it was a hard no (unless they were trained and wouldn’t cause trouble), jongho still smuggled them in

grandma knows about it too (bc she knows everything that goes on for the most part lmao) but she doesn’t say anything because they don’t cause trouble and she likes the boys

the day one of them gets loose and starts terrorizing and infesting the pink palace is the day she intervenes and tells them to get rid of them

but jongho is actually really good at training the mice so it’s fine

my point surrounding all of this is to say that mingi, san, and jongho are in the long and arduous stage of their lives and their circus of planning and preparing everything

they only make so much money and have so many resources that setting up their circus and doing everything to prepare is going to take a long time before they can actually open and show people what they’ve been working on

they’ve been doing it for a few years now and they’ve still hardly made a dent

they have to train and perfect their acts sure, but they also have to do all of the logistical stuff like advertising, selling tickets, finding venues, paying for safety and legal stuff, etc.

and these boys are only in their early 20s, so it’s gonna take a while before they can actually open their circus

but they are determined and passionate, so if this is what they have to do then they will happily do it

Yunho ~ The Ghost Children

oh god this is gonna start getting serious i’m sorry

in case you can’t tell, yunho is the boy that goes missing from the pink palace

he and his family lived in the pink palace from when he was pretty young until he was in high school

he was also really good friends with wooyoung and yeosang because they were all the same age

however he was... not happy

he always worked his ass off dancing because that’s what he wanted to do, but it meant his grades in school tanked

this would obviously be worrying to some parents, and his gave him an ultimatum

either get your grades up and start taking school seriously, or you’re not going to be allowed to continue your dance lessons

the answer was clear to yunho, so he told his dance teacher that he would be taking a break for a bit so he can focus on school

everything was fine until he realized his parents had zero intentions of letting him go back anyway

he didn’t understand,, his grades were getting better so why couldn’t he go back?

to put it plainly, his parents said this:

“what kind of career could you make out of dance? you’ll never succeed”

it was crushing

it was then that yunho realized that his own parents didn’t care about what he wanted and was passionate about

he didn’t think they ever would either, so he just sort of... stopped believing in them

it wasn’t all bad because he had his closest friends and grandma (who treated him like her own grandson)

but he had some pretty bad days that made the happy and energetic boy almost completely unrecognizable

he would look at wooyoung and yeosang and see how successful they were despite still being in school

he would see how their talent was rightfully recognized and sought after

and he would get down on himself, thinking how he wanted the same thing but fearing no one would see him

that’s why he worked hard at everything he did, why his motivation plummeted, and why he nearly wore himself out before even graduating

but one day he started acting strange

everyone noticed how a switch seemed to flip in him

that excited glimmer was back in his eyes, and no one knew why

don’t get me wrong, everyone was so happy to see the smiley yunho was back, but everyone wanted to know what happened

but he hardly made any sense when he told them

he supposedly found a place in the pink palace where he could do what he wanted, but whenever he tried showing anyone he couldn’t? the door was bricked up

everyone started thinking he made it up, that the stress was finally getting to him and he dreamt up a place like this so he wouldn’t lose his mind

that glimmer was gone again, and he stopped trying to talk to people

in fact, he closed himself off from everyone

the day he went missing was the scariest day for everyone in the pink palace

everyone was devastated, but it completely changed his parents

grandma advised them to move out while the police investigated, but they refused despite how hard it was

but after a year the case became cold

no one could find yunho nor could anyone figure out what happened to him

he just disappeared without a trace

his parents still tried to stay though because they needed to find out what happened to their son

but they couldn’t. no one could

it wasn’t long before they too found it best that they move out of the pink palace

it was just too painful

that was the last time grandma ever rented to anyone new, so the apartment became completely vacant for years

even after they left, no one was able to figure out what happened to yunho

Seonghwa ~ The Black Cat

uhhhh yeah seonghwa’s a cat lmao

he’s not owned by anyone and doesn’t have a collar or anything

he’s a stray that has been around for a while

he showed up pretty soon after yunho started distancing himself from people, but not soon enough for people to think that he’s an omen or something

and he’s not exactly

idk really how to explain it so i won’t lmao

he just sort of became the pink palace’s cat???

grandma takes responsibility for him though and makes sure he’s fed and has a place to rest and play if he ever feels like it

which is nice and all but he doesn’t?? do any of those things?

he comes and goes a lot sure,,, no one really knows where he goes but they know he’ll be back

but when he hangs out around the pink palace? he just... wanders?

it’s hard to explain but it’s almost like he is surveying the domain, like he’s searching for something wrong

he’s a weird cat

not only that though, but he doesn’t eat? or sleep? at all???

at least no one ever sees him sleeping or eating

he’s always getting into shit tho, like he’s always there when you don’t want him to be

there have been many times wooyoung has kicked him out of the apartment because the dogs hate him

mingi and san also try to keep him out because of jongho and his rats mice, but honestly jongho is pretty cool with him

because he doesn’t do anything to the mice? he literally just sits there and watches with wide and curious eyes

sure jongho worries about hwa one day stealing one of his mice for grandma to see so that she can make him get rid of them or kick them out but that’s not going to happen right?

hwa is chill tho, so jongho is chill

the cat would follow yunho around a lot, and a lot of times they were seen curled up together

yunho would be taking a nap the poor boy but hwa wouldn’t

he would just be there to comfort him :(

honestly he liked yunho and his best friend the most and everyone could tell jongho was a close second tho

they all came to start calling him mars instead of The Cat™ since they didn’t know his name

they still call him The Cat™ when he pisses them off but i digress

despite how fucking weird he is though, everyone at the pink palace basically loves him

he’s just Their Cat™ ok?

sure he might be annoying and shifty, or he might be haunted, or he might even be immortal

he’s a really weird cat dude

but he’s part of the family,, they gotta love him

Hongjoong ~ Coraline

at first he had no relation to the pink palace whatsoever,, he had never even heard of it

he lived with a friend in a fairly large city before and it was fine and all but WOW was it expensive

and it was honestly very stifling to hongjoong,,, he couldn’t really do everything he wanted to do there

he found the pink palace by accident

he was searching up affordable apartments to live in places that have good weather and conditions for gardening

let me explain though

hongjoong is in his downward stretch of college for a journalism degree, but he’s taking online classes with his move so that he can focus on that and working

he wants to work in gardening and writing, but he also really just wants to make stuff

his realistic plan is to work in journalism and write for like a gardening magazine or journal while gardening as a “side project” or something (like coraline’s parents do)

the dream job though would be to work in song writing or fashion or something artistic like that

he likes painting and making/customizing clothes so he would like to be able to make a career out of that

his goal is to eventually make his own business or store where he makes and sells affordable and sustainable clothes and accessories

he’s going for a degree in journalism with a minor in business, but he has been struggling with both so he has been debating dropping business

arguably it would be better for him to stick with business but most people in his life have told him he’s better in journalism and so he keeps at that mostly

he feels unfulfilled - he wants to plant a garden, he wants to make and alter clothes customly, he wants to make music

but he isn’t able to do any of that because what are the odds any of that ends up working as a career?

it might work for a little while but in the future he would technically be a small business, and maintaining a small business is difficult

at least with writing and working for a magazine/journal is stable

however it’s not what he’s most passionate about, thus he finds it hard to have motivation to work

he feels like a zombie going through his days the same as the last, just trying to get through school before he gets a 9-5 job that he’ll hate within a year (if that) doing something he doesn’t want to do

but hey, that’s adult life, isn’t it?

he doesn’t like to complain and feels guilty when he is ungrateful for his circumstances because he knows plenty of people (his parents included) that went down this route who ended up fine, which means he will too

the one person who always told him to go after what he wanted was his mom even though she technically “settled” in life

holy shit did i digress

but yeah in his search for an affordable place to live with good weather, there wasn’t a lot

but he also wanted a drastic change from what he was used to, and that was the pink palace

it was practically in the middle of nowhere, and the pictures (while pretty dull) showed potential for a great garden

it was perfect

however

it was a hard no from grandma when he called about possibly renting, so he wasn’t expecting her to call him back at all

grandma didn’t want to risk anything because of what happened with yunho

but with some convincing, she realized that she couldn’t keep holding on

while what happened was horrible, there was nothing that could be done as sad as it was

so she called hongjoong back about when the best time to come look at the pink palace would be

and the rest is history

Omg ☺️ I’m glad you liked the Iggy one. Honestly While making the Ignis one, I was thinking about doing a Prompto Mpreg headcanon but I didn’t think someone would ask for a Prompto one.

But I will give the the people what they want!! PROMPTO MPREG!! Expect this to be very silly 🙃

•Ignis makes the food. (So many new Recipeh’s)

•Noctis keeps Prompto distracted. It’s not that hard as it sounds, he takes Prompto to a Chocobo farm!

•all tho, Prompto can’t ride the Chocobros cause he might fall and hurt himself and his unborn daughter, but he’s really enjoying himself. The plan is going smoothly.

•meanwhile Gladio decorates with the material he’s given because Iris doesn’t trust him to bring his own.

•it’s small and not many people came but hey! It’s the thought that that counts.

•Noct gets a text to bring Prompto to the party. The plan is going great!

•Prompto was so moved by all the hard work and the effort his friends made, that he balled his eyes out.

•it went great! They eaten the delicious food (THATS IT! GRANDMA IGNIS ACTIVITY!)

•the gifts were adorable ☺️

•Noct’s gift (note: lris had to drag Noct to a baby store, so she and Noct could get a gift. Much to Noct’s embarrassment) was Rare Black Chocobo plush!

•it was so cute! (In a dark way)

•Gladio’s was an adorable baby book. (He would have gotten a book about Chocobos but they didn’t have any ;-;)

•Ignis’s was a strange one. It was a coffee maker.

•”Iggy...why would I need this l?”

•”Cause your gonna be up all night.”

•believe me. Ignis knows all to well.

•lris’s gift was an Moogle Plush.

•It went amazing! (Prompto got to take some left overs home)

•Nine Month: The last month. The doctor was put Prompto on bed rest. Don’t walk around too much, try to stay hydrated.

•Noctis has to come over to look after Prompto during the last days of his Pregnancy.

•to say Prompto is nervous would be an understatement!!

•he’s sooo scared to feel what labor is like. He knows it’s extremely painful. Yeah he’s having a c-section but....

•Wait! WHAT WILL THE C-SECTION FEEL LIKE?!?!?

•he wouldn’t have to wait long...

•during the night, Prompto was having a hard time sleeping, due to some back pain (you know where this is going...)

•trying to get up, Prompto feels something wet.

•”NOCT!”

•”what I was drea-“

•”Prompto...did your water break?!”

•”I-I don’t know!!”

•unsure what to do, Noct (panicking) calls Ignis.

•”IGGY! I THINK PROMPTO’S WATER BROKE? MAYBE? I DON’T KNOW!”

•”Noct, how about you call the midwife?” Said Ignis calmly. (Let me know if you got that joke 😉)

•Noct calls the midwife, she tell him to bring Prompto to the hospital.

•They figure out pretty quickly that, the baby is coming NOW!

•poor Noct, sitting in the waiting room with a pajama top on and unclean pants (no shoes btw) hoping that it would go well and nothing happen to Prompto and his niece.

•after for what seems like forever, A nurse comes out with a small bundle in his arms.

•”He wanted you to hold her.”

•Noct was stunned. In his arms with Prompto’s baby girl!

•and she was the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen!

•this tiny little thing, has his blond hair, blue eyes, even his freckles! She was the cutest thing ever!!

•Noct even shed a tear. He’s definitely not telling anyone about that.

30 Minutes Earlier

•Prompto just woken up. He passed out after he heard her cries.

•now, waking up; he wants to see his baby girl.

•once he sees her again, he basically falls in love all over again.

•Crying while her eyes were looking at his.

•”Hi there...nice to meet you.”

•She cooed in response. OMG.

•everyone else fell in love with her too.

•”She’s Adorable.”

•”hard to believe she’ll grow up so big.”

•she was basically welcome with open arms.

•over the years, shes basically a mini version of Prompto with a bit of a shy streak.

•he takes so.many.pics that she becomes camera shy.

•She LOVES chocobos and love to ride them with her Daddy ^^

•Noct is basically her second favorite person. She’s almost always falling asleep on him. He’s not complaining tho.

•btw, that Black Chocobo toy? It’s her absolute favorite.

•Ignis has to be her third favorite.

•she always refers to him as Mama Iggy. Much to Iggy’s embarrassment.

•She likes helping him cook. She’s a little mini helper and even passes out food. Ignis greatly appreciates the help.

•Gladio gives the best piggy back rides!

•she helps him a little with his exercise.

•Prompto and his Daughter are the closest you’ll ever see.

•she’s his rock and he’s her Father.

•When he finds out his origins and his “Father” he doubt downs to make sure he’s never like him. Period.

•After Noct disappears, She’s helps him get ready for Noctis’s eventual return.

•while getting stronger herself.

•When Noctis returns (and brings back the light) he’s shocked and happy to see that Prompto’s Daughter, has not changed much (besides age)

•she now helps around the Citadel.

•Prompto is truly great full for having his daughter in his life.

I’m here for the ‘swords not as pets’ agenda. Swords as cars: solid, get you from place to place, potentially dangerous, customizable, something people name. Wwx losing his license taking the fall for a mistake jc made (idk, dui maybe?) and just choosing to mod the hell out of a self-balancing scooter or segway or something so it goes dangerously fast. Alternatively: spending 3 months inventing the first functional actual levitating hoverboard, with an insane top speed. 3 months in the (1/2)

sawdfert this is delightful!! i saw segway and i immediately started wheezing,, there was no time for laughing i went straight to the wheezing. i think it would make more sense if wwx lost his car and got a motorcycle? like hoverboards and segways are cool but motorcycles have that big reputation of being dangerous and there’s the whole ‘rebellious teen gets a motorcycle and becomes a delinquent’ thing? like motorcycles are fast and if you crash it’s so much worse than if you were in a car and there’s no airbags or anything. but also?? wwx rocking up to school on a segway while playing his flute like the shittiest entrance ever? iconic. but let’s stick with chenqing as a motorcycle/scooter (motorcycle-esque scooter not the ones that try and take out your ankles).

okay so all the major sects are super rich so in a modern au it would make sense for all the sect heirs to get cars. i’m not saying that jc and wwx complain about jzx being stuck-up bc he was given a porsche for his birthday even though they were also given cars for their birthdays,,, but i am. at first it would have been this major point of contention between yzy and jfm bc wwx isn’t even their son so why is he getting a car too but wwx is like ah it’s so i can drive jc and jyl to school! you wouldn’t want their cars being left outside the school all day would you? someone in my maths class had their car get keyed and it was super expensive to fix,, and yzy is like yes wwx may have a car only to protect my children from parking hassles,, also wwx must pay for his own parking. so wwx and jc both get given cars for their bdays.

now wwx gets bored easily,, so you could translate him being a cultivation genius to him being really good at driving. im talking that jc is still getting the hang of switching gears and wwx is out there casually drifting around corners. (this does mean he has to get new tyres really frequently but he’s friends with wen ning, whose family runs the mechanics that wwx likes to go to so he just helps around the shop for a bit and gets a discount (yes its the family discount)). anyway wwx really enjoys driving, also! he just rocks up to wen ning’s place one day and is like dude, i wanna pimp my ride, wanna help and wen ning is like heck yeah. so wwx pays for some upgrades with his own money and he spends hours doing some custom work to make it look cool,,

it’s all going well until wwx and jc go to wen chao’s party one night and jc gets absolutely sloshed,,, like completely hammered. wwx had walked in, grabbed a cup of lemonade or something and was gonna hang with his friends but lwj was there for some reason so he spent the entire night talking to him in the back garden. which means that when jc wanted to leave he saw wwx hanging out with lwj and went ew gross and just decided to drive home himself. he crashes and when wwx comes home the next day jc gets super pissed at him bc he was meant to be the designated driver and if he hadnt been screwing around with lwj jc wouldnt have tried to drive home and now his parents will be super pissed and wwx is like woah chill my grandmother is a mechanic and she can fix this up just give me a couple of days.

so wwx goes to baoshan sanren mechanics (which is just the back entrance to the wen sibling’s mechanics) and spends the next three days getting rid of all of his customisations and mods so his car looks exactly like jc’s. does he cry when he has to spend like five mins spraying the inside of the car with axe body spray to get the jc stench going on? maybe a little. but he does it and returns the car to jc! and jc is like oh wow my car is fixed, your grandma is a miracle worker and wwx is like haha yeah (:

anyway wwx mysteriously and suddenly discovers a passion for public transport,, it’s a good way to stay humble jiang cheng, he says, also i used all my petrol money buying porn from nhs or whatever. anyway wwx is doing the whole pt to school thing but then one afternoon wen chao and wzh find him and idk maybe the party got too rowdy so the cops came and wc got in trouble with his dad? he assumes wwx called the cops on him so he shoves wwx into his car and drives him out to the middle of no where and dumps him in the burial mounds scrap metal recycling place or whatever.

the train line isn’t running that day and there’s no phone service either so wwx is stuck there overnight. he gets super bored. so what does he do? he finds an abandoned scooter and starts scavenging for parts. he’s not expecting it to actually work but by the time the sun rises he’s found some actually decent parts and he thinks that he could get it working. tbh he kinda forgets to go back home and just walks into town to buy some food and then goes back and continues fiddling with the scooter. he doesnt live there for the three months but the people in yiling just accept that this random teenager has all but moved into their scrap heap and adopt him anyway. so he goes and visits the burial mounds every day after school so none of his friends or family really see him anymore.

until! one day he rocks up to school on his scooter. scooters,, are kinda like sad pathetic motorcycles,, but wwx mods his scooter with like a powerful engine and new steering and everything so people see it and go oh! a motorcycle! even though it’s not actually (can you do that with a scooter? idk but suspend your disbelief pls). so lwj is like hnnngg wwx in a leather jacket on a motorcycle but also wei ying, stop riding a motorcycle, *enter statistics about motorcycle crashes here* and wwx is like no! you cant take chenqing away from me. and jc is pissed bc they were meant to be brothers and have matching cars and be able to work on them and give them cool paint jobs together! but now wwx has this bike which has been modded to hell and back and refuses to drive his car bc it’s not as cool as his bike. so we get to have the whole ‘everyone thinks wwx is doing something dumb and dangerous’ bc he has a motorcycle and why isnt he just driving his car anymore? but we also get to keep some of the nuance of the demonic cultivation bc yeah it’s more dangerous than driving in a car but wwx doesnt have a car anymore and scooters are a loottt safer than motorcycles (if my two seconds of research is correct).

so! wwx won’t abandon chenqing and he did most of his work using scrap parts so he goes back to the wens and is like wen ning my best bro check her out and he’s like oooooooh and they start modding chenqing together. wen qing doesnt know why wwx is constantly over at their shop all the time but jc keeps arguing with wwx and wwx grows more distant with his family and friends bc he’s making ~bad decisions~ and a motorcycle is a gateway to idk teen delinquent shenanigans like smoking and doing graffiti so he’s kinda ousted from respectable rich people society and wen qing is like i have two (2) brothers now and they’re adorable not that i’ll ever tell them that. and wwx modding chenqing got him a reputation in yiling like everyone saw him walk in one day and then drive out with this sexy sexy bike so people start coming to him for mods and stuff and wwx earns the title yiling patriarch and wen ning, his trusted best friend and helper, gets called the ghost general bc idk he helps a lot but the customers never meet him. so they become some dynamic duo for car and bike mods!

anyway,, yzy delivers him an ultimatum one day: the car or the bike (or more accurately: the family or the bike) but wwx can’t drive the car anymore so he just gets quietly disowned and drops out of school. (we’ll save jzxuan the suffering in this au he can keep his car). he goes to the wens and theyre like hey whats up? wait no you cant live in a scrap heap,, not even if you buy a tent,,, just live with us please. and then wwx gets adopted by the wens and idk i want them to have a happy ending so wwx and wn go off and do some actual mechanic and modding training with some expert (sqdcfgt imagine if it was the real baoshan sanren who just happened to be in the market for some apprentices and saw wwx and wn’s work and was like them and then later realised it was her grandson). so they get their apprenticeship and they disappear off somewhere for a year or two - when wwx had been disowned he’d deleted everyone’s contacts and was like if they text me i’ll add them back but im not gonna have a contact list cemetery. (no one contacts him).

eventually the 13 years pass and wwx has been helping the wens raise their little nephew a-yuan who is showing a real aptitude for being a mechanic even though he’s just a kid and just generally enjoying the quiet life of being a mechanic while doing fun mods and lil baby projects. then one day lwj’s car breaks down while he’s driving through the area and he calls up the local mechanic and guess who rocks up? it’s wwx. and then we get to have them dance around each other and wwx being like lwj doesnt trust me, he’s just sitting here and watching me work all day ): and lwj is like dont let him go dont let him go dont let him go,, and eventually they get their romance but this is way too long already so im im gonna end this here

“hey (y/n)?” your mom called upstairs to you. “can you come down here a minute?”

you came down the stairs to find your mom and dad sitting together in the living room. camilla came into the room from the kitchen, and the two of you sat on a couch across from your parents. “what’s up?” you asked.

“we have some bad news about this summer,” your mom started. your heart skipped a beat. you had a feeling you knew what they were gonna say.

“grandma’s boyfriend, kevin, is sick,” she explained. “and he’s not likely to get better before we go, so it wouldn’t be a good idea for us to stay with them.”

your eyes widened. “is he okay?”

“we don’t know, but it’s looking pretty good now,” your mom said gently. “but us potentially exposing him to germs could make him extra sick.”

“couldn’t we just stay somewhere else?” camill suggested.

your mom shook her head. “your dad and i decided it wasn’t worth it, to go and not be able to spend time with grandma. i’m sorry, i know you were both looking forward to it.”

you sighed and rubbed your eyes. you and ricky had already made plans for what you would do when you were in california, and you weren’t sure how you would break the news to him that you wouldn’t be coming. now, you weren’t sure the next time you’d be able to see him in general.

as if on command, as you were thinking about him, your phone buzzed with a text from ricky, asking if you could facetime soon. you texted and said you’d call him asap.

“are you okay with this?” your mom asked you. “i know you were looking forward to seeing ricky.”

“it’s fine,” you said. “i wouldn’t want anything to happen to kevin. and we’ll go back at some point.”

“exactly,” your mom smiled at you. “i’m glad you understand.”

you excused yourself up to your room and facetimed ricky. he answered almost immediately with a grin on his face. “hi love!”

“hey,” you said. “you actually texted at a good time. i have to talk to you.”

ricky hummed. “everything okay?”

“yeah. it’s just...” you sighed. “my parents told me that my grandmas boyfriend is sick.”

“oh, god. that’s awful,” ricky said genuinely. you nodded.

“yeah. and because of that, they said we aren’t going to be able to go to california over the summer.”

ricky’s expression dropped and he didn’t respond for a moment. “but... why not? couldn’t you just stay somewhere else? you could stay with me!”

“i asked, but my mom said she didn’t see a point in going if we couldn’t see my grandma. i’m sorry, ricky. i wish there was a way we could still go but i don’t know how to convince my parents in a way that still keeps kevin safe,” you said. ricky nodded and gave you a weak smile.

“i hate that we can’t see each other,” he started. “but i understand. it’s a tough situation and... i hope kevin gets better quick.”

“me too,” you said.

ricky sighed. “hey, i actually think i’m gonna go now. red’s been bugging me to watch this movie with him all day so...”

“yeah, absolutely,” you said. ricky was obviously upset, and if he wanted to be alone you understood. “hey, i love you.”

“i love you too,” he said. “i’ll text you.”

“okay,” you said. he ended the call and you set your phone on your bed and rubbed your face in frustration. the last thing you wanted to do was disappoint ricky, but there was nothing you could do. you just hoped that you’d find a way to see each other sooner rather than later.

returning to school after common sense dropped was odd. everyone knew who you were now and you were stared at in the halls— but no one actually approached you. you were secretly glad about this; as public as your relationship was, you didn’t want to answer whatever questions about it that someone may ask.

everyone was leaving you alone until lunch. you sat at your table with gina and a few other of your friends when a girl approached you.

“hey, you’re the girl dating ricky bowen, right?” she asked.

you nodded awkwardly. “yeah.”

“oh,” she looked you up and down and you shifted in your seat uncomfortably. “is there anyway you could get him to follow me on twitter or something? or get me tickets to his shows?”

“um... no,” you said. gina was holding back laughter. “i don’t even know you and he’s not someone i can just control and get stuff from. sorry.”

the girl looked deeply offended. “fine. bitch.”

gina burst out laughing and the girl left, her face red. you gave gina an amused look and she shook her head.

“oh my god (y/n), that’s what you’re going to be dealing with for the rest of your life,” she said once she stopped laughing. “a public high school and dating someone famous? not a good mixture.”

“yeah, don’t i know,” you laughed. “good thing we are graduating this year, huh.”

“crazy,” gina said. “can’t believe we only have a few months of school left.”

“i know,” you said. “what are your plans after graduation?”

“i’m not completely sure, but i’d love to do something in the arts,” she said. “might end up doing a year abroad for the experience.”

“you’d be a great actress. or singer. or dancer,” you said. “you’d be pretty great at anything, really.”

she laughed. “thank you. what are your plans?”

“i guess i’m not completely sure yet,” you said. “working in film has always sounded appealing. but i don’t know.”

“you still have time,” she said. “you don’t have to start right after we graduate. lots of people take gap years.”

“you’re right,” you said. “i guess i have some thinking to do.”

I'm in a better mood in the morning. Do you use any apps to track your health or medications? I have a calorie-counting app, as well as one to track my period. Whose opinions/recommendations do you value most? My mom's, best friend's, and psychiatrist's. If you could’ve been at any historical event, which would you have liked to witness firsthand? I'm a basic fatass that likes American cuisine most, aha... Like give me a cheeseburger and I'm happy lmao. How would you describe your relationship with your hair over the years? I love it more now at a short length than I ever did long. When it was long and I was in my deepest depression, I was awful about brushing it. It would get so knotted. Like looking back, it nearly makes me shiver. I HIGHLY recommend cutting your hair for anyone who struggles with selfcare. How do you feel about your SO daily/regularly checking up on a couple of his exes on social media? I'm single, but hypothetically, if you're checking an ex's page nearly every day, I would not be okay with that. I'm totally fine with exes remaining friends and just cordially talking now and again, but that's it. It's a respect thing. Do you prefer your guy to wear cologne or not? I personally like cologne if it's not overwhelming. I really don't care if you wear it or not, though. Ladies, how important is it to you that your SO wears/would wear a wedding ring? This survey is so heteronormative. But anyway, unless there was an issue like it not fitting, I'd want my spouse to wear their ring. What was the turning point that led you to decide for or against having children? There are a lot of reasons I don't want kids. I'm too selfish with my "me" time, I stress out too easily, I don't want to dedicate my life to keeping another person alive and fed and happy, I have bad genes... I could go on and on. I just wouldn't be a good, "present" enough mom. I am much more interested in ensuring *I* am okay. Is having your “dream” wedding really that important to have? Not at all. I mean I want a smooth and memorable wedding, but I'm not obsessed with it being perfect. Do you consider it cheating if your SO goes to a strip club and then doesn’t tell you? That's certainly not cheating, but I wouldn't like it. Being secretive about anything in a relationship is unhealthy, imo. I'd be hurt and also very insecure because I wouldn't feel like "enough."
