As Tony lay bleeding out in the snow he couldn't help but reflect on the life that this fight snatched away from him and his mate. But what hurt the most was thinking of the promise he made to his and Peter's unborn pup to always be there for them, one that despite everything he would be unable to fulfill. And it was thinking of that broken promise that brought tears to his eyes as the slowly closed for the last time.

Companion, pt. 2
A (slightly delayed) follow up to this chapter. Jaime & Sebastian add another member to their little makeshift household.
WARNINGS: The usual BBU stuff, animal shelter setting, collars, mentions of past foster care, anxiety, but mostly good things happening here.
The animal shelter they chose is in the heart of the city. Their website mentioned that they often deal with overpopulation, since it’s the biggest one in the area, so Sebastian thought they might have the most positive impact by adopting from them. They have a list of available animals with photos that they update daily, but Jaime turned down Sebastian’s offer to look through them.
He doesn’t tell him that swiping through a catalog of strays, deciding their fate behind the comfort of a computer screen, feels too much like how a prospective Keeper might shop for their Companion. How someone once shopped for him.
They make a plan to go on Saturday morning, and Jaime spends the rest of the week quietly stewing in an unnamed anxiety. He doesn’t bring it up—not when Sebastian talks excitedly about pet toys he found online over dinner, not when his nerves cut into his ability to fall asleep at night, and certainly not when he is buckled into the passenger seat, watching the big, yellow bridge that leads into downtown come into view.
The building itself is large but sparse, all cement-gray walls and scuffed floors and signs of age that reflect a probable lack of funding. As they walk through the main hallway, flanked by rows of doors and cages, Jaime thinks that it reminds him a little of the training facility. He keeps that to himself, too.
There is a volunteer—a young woman with her hair in a bun and a stain on her shirt—showing Jaime and Sebastian around.
“The dogs are back this way,” she says. “Green tags on the doors are puppies under six months. Yellow tags mean they can be a little jumpy around people, red equals not good matches for homes with young children. Blue tags mean they’re seniors. Those are usually the ones that have been with us the longest.”
Jaime tries hard not to think about what happens to the senior dogs that overstay their welcome.
“Cats are on this side,” she continues, pointing to her left. “We just ask that you wash your hands if you enter one of the playrooms, and avoid direct contact with any red tags. Any questions?”
Sebastian looks at Jaime, who tenses slightly at the attention but shakes his head.
“I think we’re all good.” Sebastian says.
She smiles. “Just let us know if you have any questions.”
With a nod, they set off down the hall on their own, Jaime sticking close to Sebastian’s heels.
“So,” Sebastian says, stuffing his hands in his coat pockets. “Anywhere in particular you want to start? Young? Old? Big? Small?”
Jaime looks around at all the cages, suddenly overwhelmed—by the decision, by the sharp whines and barks for attention, by the closeness of the other prospective adopters, by the sad, watchful eyes of the animals as people pass them by. By the collars fastened around their necks, reminding Jaime of the weight of his own, the visibility of it peeking up through the dip in the sweatshirt neckline. Absently, he touches the warm metal with his fingertips.
Sebastian seems to sense his discomfort, because he eases back. “You know what? Maybe we just take a lap or two and see what happens,” he says. “Maybe there will be an instant connection.”
They start with a black lab with a green tag on his cage door, who instantly jumps up and tries to paw at them when Sebastian sinks into a crouch.
“Well, aren’t you full of energy?” Sebastian’s voice lifts into a high sing-song tone when he speaks to the dogs, and the surprise of it is so endearing that it momentarily pulls Jaime from his inward spiral. “Only five months old,” he says to Jaime.
Against his wishes, memories of a long lost life in foster care rise to the surface. Jaime had been old enough when he entered to know that his chances of finding a family to adopt him were low, and only getting lower with each passing birthday.
“I’m sure she’ll be very popular,” Jaime says.
“Yeah,” Sebastian agrees, sticking his finger through one of the holes in the grate so that the puppy can sniff him. “You’ll find a home in no time, sweet girl.”
They move past a few more cages, Sebastian seemingly thrilled with the prospect of bringing any one of them home, but Jaime’s anxiety only grows. It’s when they come upon a cage with a golden labrador puppy—one that looks a little too similar to the fading image he has of a puppy from his childhood—that he reaches a breaking point.
He takes a few steps away—not so far as to wander away from Sebastian’s watch, but a couple of doors down the row. Jaime takes slow, deep breaths as he looks down at the sleeping dog in the kennel in front of him, trying to imagine her laying on Sebastian’s living room rug. Trying not to imagine what it might look like to feed her every day, to brush her, to walk her, to love her, and then to leave her behind in six months when Jaime is called back to the facility.
Sebastian doesn’t seem to mind Jaime’s straying, so he allows himself the space, moving slowly along the row of animals. He makes it all the way to the end of the hall when a flash of movement catches his eye. At the corner, secluded away from the glass-walled play rooms, is a singular cage with a black cat inside. The flash of movement he saw, it seems, was the cat’s abrupt recoil from a pair of reaching hands.
“Don’t put your fingers in the cage!” A young mother scolds, grabbing her child’s wrist and pulling him back from the cage. “You’re going to get bit.”
The kid gies a grumble of complaint but moves onto the next door quickly, not sparing a look back at the cage. Jaime watches as the black cat shrinks even further behind a wadded up blanket, pressing herself to the back corner of the cage, where no one can reach. Her bright, green eyes scan the area, back and forth, watching for invaders. She doesn’t look aggressive, Jaime thinks. She looks scared.
Without realizing it, Jaime has taken a step toward the cage. He sees both a blue and a yellow tag on the door and tries to remember what the codes mean. On a small slip of paper at the top of the cage, the name “Bella” is written out in sharpie.
“Hi Bella,” he whispers, barely audible. “You’re okay.”
Slowly, broadcasting the movement as much as he can, he lifts a hand and places the tip of his finger just at the edge of the cage; not enough to intrude the walls of her space, but hopefully enough to be a show of invitation. Bella looks at his finger for a long few seconds, then up at his eyes. Stupidly, Jaime smiles, like it might soften her to him.
“Pretty eyes, right?”
The sudden voice startles him, even more for the fact that it isn’t Sebastian’s. He pulls his hand away like it was burned and turns to find another young woman with a volunteer shirt on.
“Sorry,” he says automatically.
“No need,” she says, then nods her head toward the cage. “I think you’ve got her attention.”
Jaime looks back at the cage and finds that the cat has taken a few steps out from her hiding spot, a curious nose pointed where Jaime’s finger had been. Carefully, darting a quick look at the woman for approval, Jaime lifts his hand again. This time, the cat only stares at it for a few seconds before she bumps her nose against his skin. A breath of a laugh startles out of him.
“That’s the most contact she’s had with anyone on her own terms,” the girl says. “She must like you.”
“Can I ask…?” Jaime starts then hesitates. The woman's gaze dips, almost unwittingly, to Jaime’s throat. He watches something flash across her expression before she schools it with a neutral look.
“You can ask me,” she tells him.
“Why is she in a cage by herself? Away from the other cats?”
“She’s FIV+.”
Jaime glances back at the cat. “She’s sick?”
The woman nods. “It’s an immunodeficiency virus. There’s no cure for it, but it’s entirely possible for cats to live full, happy lives with it. But it’s best that she goes to a home with no other cats.”
“I think he… My…” Jaime clears his throat. “I think he is looking for a dog.”
She presses her lips into a thin line. “I see.”
As if summoned, Sebastian appears at his shoulder. “Oh, look at this cutie!”
Jaime tries to conceal his startled jump. “Her name is Bella,” he says quietly.
“Look at her,” Sebastian croons, crouching beside the cage but not attempting to make contact. “She’s a love bug.”
“She’s actually quite shy,” the woman says, taking the smallest nudge of a step in front of Jaime to stand between them. “I was just telling him how he must be special to win her over so quickly.”
Sebastian’s first instinct is to shoot Jaime a smile. He stands slowly, knees cracking, and says, “I can’t say I’m surprised.” Then, to Jaime, he adds, “I didn’t know you were a cat person.”
“I’ve never had one,” he says honestly.
“Hmm.” Sebastian turns back toward the cat, studying her for a few long seconds before he says, “Do you like her?”
Jaime blinks, letting his hand slowly drop to his side. In his periphery, he sees Bella raise a paw to tap impatiently against the cage wall.
“I…” He looks to the cat, to the volunteer, and back at Sebastian. “Yes.”
Sebastian nods, once, decisively, then turns to the volunteer. “We’ll take her.”
There’s a moment’s pause. They both turn to him, surprised. “I… I thought you wanted a dog,” Jaime says.
He shrugs. “I think Bella has made the decision for us, really.” He nods toward where she is still perched at the edge of the cage, nuzzling against the bars to reach Jaime. “I mean, look at her. It’s out of our hands.”
He is fawning over the cat—who has decided to regard him with a look of skeptical displeasure—but Jaime only has eyes for Sebastian. He blinks up at him, trying to tame the spread of warmth in his chest. “Really?” he asks.
Sebastian gives an uncertain smile, one that Jaime is becoming more and more familiar with. “Is that okay with you?”
Jaime swallows tightly, lowering his voice. “You’ll keep her?” he asks, trying to ignore the inquisitive glance from the volunteer. “Even when I’m gone?”
It looks like there’s a lot more that Sebastian wants to say, but in their present company, he only meets Jaime’s eyes and says, “Yes. Of course”
Jaime breathes out and gives a single, decisive nod.
“Alright then,” the woman breaks the silence after a few tense moments. “Let’s get the paperwork started.”
***
On the way home, Sebastian drives carefully enough that his knuckles go white around the steering wheel, trying to avoid every bump and crack in the road. Jaime is in the backseat, which is an arrangement Sebastian normally wouldn’t prefer, but it’s only because he wants to be able to sit next to Bella’s carrier.
He casts a glance in the rearview mirror to see Jaime gently running the back of his finger against the mesh wall, ducking his head so he can peek inside.
“What should we name her?” Sebastian asks, almost regretting breaking the moment of reverence.
Jaime sits up, meeting his eyes in the mirror. A dip of confusion forms between his brows. “You don’t like the name Bella?”
“Oh.” Sebastian blinks. “I—no, it’s cute. I like it. Just… I think most of the time the names they’re given in the shelter are temporary things? People usually change them to whatever they want when they bring them home.”
Jaime is quiet long enough to make Seabstian think maybe he’s stepped in something he didn’t mean to. Then, he asks, “Do you think she had a name before the shelter?”
Sebastian shrugs. “They didn’t know much about her history. If she was a stray her whole life, I guess she probably didn’t.”
He looks back down at the carrier, continuing the slow, soothing motion of his finger. “I’m okay with whatever name you decide for her,” he says, and Seabstian can’t help but hear a bit of dejection slip through.
The pieces connect, and Sebastian considers the kind of weight a name might carry for someone who has had his stolen.
Sebastian tightens his grip on the steering wheel, keeping his voice as even as he can. “No, I think you’re right,” he says. “Bella suits her just fine.”

I was hoping to finish by Friday but had writers block but I decided to share another small part. @jaytriesstuff
Damian had two encounters with the ghost boy yesterday. The stupid boy was plaguing his thoughts. Damian was on his way to the animal shelter he volunteered at. He almost didn't notice the little mews from the alley. He peered down the alleyway. He saw a noirette boy holding a sphynx kitten.
Damian walked down the alley. He couldn't ignore the poor cat. He hoped the stranger was willing to give it to him without a problem.
"Hey, what are you doing with that cat?"
Danny looked up. It was the rich kid from yesterday. He was in casual clothes and walking full speed towards Danny.
Danny smiled, "I heard this little guy and wanted to help. Is there a shelter nearby?"
"Yes. I'm heading there now if you want I can take the cat."
"Nah I got it you can just lead the way."
"Fine if you insist."
"The name is Danny by the way."
"Well Danny, my name is Damian."
Damian waited for Danny to walk over to him before leading the way. Two cute strangers in two days. Whatever he did to deserve this he apologizes. This was just cruel now because of the all cute normal looking guys this one low-key looked like one of his father's adoptees. The silence was weird but luckily it didn't take long to arrive at the shelter.
"I can take her. They aren't your responsibility."
"Nah I wanna make sure this little one gets the attention they need."
Damian gave him a small smile. He can admire that.
"If you fill out a volunteer form you come to the back with me," Damian handed him the form and pen, "here that way you can help."
Danny smirked, "Do you invite every cute guy with a cat to the back to help?"
"No, because I haven't found a cute guy with a cat yet."
"I have doubts but who am I to question a cute guy."
"I'm not cute and I retract my offer. I find you annoying now."
"Too late," Danny filled out the paper as the cat sat on the ledge, "there now let's get the kitty some food."
Damian scowled and grabbed the paper. He muttered under his breath as he led Danny to the back where the cages are. He grabbed another paper.
"Fill out this as best you can. It basically describes the cat and why you're here. I do need to take her to the back for a regular check-up before we feed her."
Danny gave Damian the sphynx kitten before filling out the papers. Damian brought the kitten back to the other parts of the shelter. He looked for Selina before spotting her in the supply closet.
"Selina, I have another stray cat for you."
She stepped out of the closet noticing the cat in Damian's arms, "you and both know your father or Alfred doesn't want us bringing more cats in."
"Not to adopt but he needs a check-up."
"I can sure do that. Is that cute kid your with the one who found," she checks the cat's gender, "who found her."
"He's not cute but yes. She was in the alley by Grand street. How did you know I came here with someone?"
Selina gestured to the security room, "Poor thing. Let's have a look then."
"Thanks, Selina."
Damian brought the cat to Selina's examination room before going back to Danny.
"Where's my cat?" Danny looked around frantically.
"She's fine. She's getting a check-up by the best vet," Damian smirked, "So she is your cat now."
"I mean I would like her to be."
"Aren't you only visiting Gotham? How do you plan on keeping and bringing her home?"
"Good point but I'll think of something."
"Well while you're formulating a plan you can help me take care of these guys."
Damian shows Danny the routine. They worked pretty well with one another. There were a couple of other volunteers but none of them usually talked to Damian. It was weird seeing him sorta smiley.
They were putting the last of the dogs away when Selina came out holding the cat. Danny instantly rushed over.
"You must be the one who found her. What's your name?"
"Danny Fenton ma'am. "
"Well, Danny it's a good thing you brought her in when you did any longer if the cold didn't get her starvation would have."
"Will she be okay?"
"Yes, she just needs proper food and warmth. Damian. Why don't you two take the kitten—"
"Cleo."
Damian looked at him confused, "what?"
"Her name is Cleo, like Cleopatra except she is a cat. So it's Cleo-paw-tra."
Selina stifled a laugh and Damian groaned. This kid is a dork.
"Okay, then why don't you two take Cleo to what we call the pamper station. She's gonna need a warm bath, food, and love."
"Yes ma'am," Danny grabbed the cat then Damian's hand, "lead the way short stuff."
Damian scowled but his tan skin couldn't hide his blush. He muttered something under his breath and dragged the boy along. Selina smiled as the boys left.
Damian brought them into the pamper room. He started the warm bath and filled it with a bit of bubbles. Damian put on long thick gloves.
"What's that for?"
"These will help protect your arms. She might try to claw us when we bathe her," Damian grabbed the cat, "put on a pair."
Danny listened. It was a weird feeling but it was not any weirder than the feeling of being possessed or possessing someone. Luckily the cat seemed to enjoy the bath. The pair chatted a bit. Damian paused to think about something before looking straight at Danny.
"Have you seen a ghost boy since you came here?"
"A what?"
"Ghost. A supernatural spector."
"Nope. You must have been seeing things."
"I most definitely did not imagine a vampire-like creature fighting with a cute ghost only to be sweeped into his arms after."
Danny turned red. Damian thought his ghost half was cute. It seems to be a trend. To be fair they just met and Damian doesn't know they are the same. While his brain was malfunctioning because of the offhand compliment his pants decided to go intangible. Damian raised a brow. Danny just about completely died.
"Charming. Usually, people have dinner or a movie first before taking off their clothes."
"I can explain."
"Why don't you pull up your pants."
Danny listened, absolutely embarrassed.
Damian chuckled, "so ghost. That's an interesting choice."
"Let's not discuss this. It's embarrassing enough without you complimenting my boxer pattern."
"Mhm. She's all clean. Dry her off then put her on the heated animal bed. I'm gonna go grab her food."
Danny grabbed a towel and dried off Cleo. She was looking better already. He looked around the room spotting the beds Damian mentioned. He brought Cleo over who happily made herself comfortable. Damian came over a few moments later with wet food and a bowl of water. Before either one of them could say anything a big green dog phased through a wall.
"What the fuck."
"Damian, go grab a dog toy. I'll go grab treats."
Damian listened, running to the toy bin. Danny changed into his ghost form. Cujo growled at him.
"What's the matter, boy?"
The dog barked at him. Danny was confused. Cujo is usually a good dog. He changed into his ghost form.
"Cujo it's me. Why are you all worked up?"
Damian squeaked the dog toy. The dog didn't pay any mind to it and instead went for Cleo.
"Is this about Cleo? Aw puppy you're not being replaced, I still love you," he scratched under Cujo's chin, "who's a good boy?"
Cujo shrank to his puppy form, his tail wagging happily. Danny pet the dog for a bit before grabbing the thermos. He pops the cap and the ghost dog goes in. Fanny sighed relieved.
"So Cujo. That's a pretty unique name."
Danny jumped, "hello Uh civilian."
Damian rolled his eyes, "you know if you wanna keep your identity a secret you really should be less obvious. "
"It's not what it looks like I swear."
"Danny, relax. I'm not gonna tell anyone. I'm more embarrassed that you know that I think you're cute."
"I totally forgot you said that."
Damian groaned. Of course this would be his luck. He didn't like the look on Danny's face.
"I would turn back before someone else sees you."
"Awe you care," Danny laughed as Damian threw the toy at him, "alright no need to get violent."
Danny changed back into his normal self. He was a bit worried about Damian knowing but there isn't anything he could really do now. He would have to let Sam and Tucker know later. For now he was just gonna have fun with it.
"So you think I'm cute."
"I believe I have also told you I can kick your ass and will if I feel the want to do so."
"For the record I think you're cute too."
Danny could see the blush take over Damian's cheek. It was super cute.
"How's Cleo?"
Danny looked over. In the time it took to deal with Cujo she ate and was down for a nap. Danny petted Cleo, smiling softly. Damian scurried off to put away the dog toy. Both of them knew Damian was just trying to get away from the situation.
When Damian came back he had a big blanket.
"I don't think Cleo would appreciate being buried with that," Danny gestured to the blanket, "what's it for."
"You. She needs human contact. If you followed we have mats and stuff in the playroom so you can cuddle with her. "
Damian scurried off and Danny scooped up the cat and followed. Damian was walking fast like he was being followed by some degenerates.
"Hey slow down. I don't wanna jostle her."
Damian stopped and mumbled a sorry. He continued to lead him. They ended up in a big room full of toys, beds and cat towers.
Danny put down the kitten. Cleo took a few careful steps before going to play. Damian watched as Danny played with her. It was cute. The minute that thought popped into Damian's head he shooed it out. It doesn't matter how cute Danny is, they also just met. He can't go crazy over him yet. Then it dawned on him. He kissed Danny after being 'rescued'. Although on the cheek it was no less embarrassing.
"Hey Damian you okay looking a little red."
Damian jumped not realizing how close Danny had come to him. He socked him in his arm and muttered a shut up. Danny laughed.
"You're annoying, I regret everything now shoo." Damian pouted.
"Aww don't be like that. We both know you don't actually want me to leave. Plus you're cute when you pout."
Damian scowled, " I'm not cute! Keep it up ghost boy I'm gonna—"
"Gonna what. Kick my ass? Feed me to the dogs? Call a priest? Yeah I can escape from all those situations."
Damian huffed and crossed his arms. Danny chuckled and went back to playing with the cat. They hung out there for a while. It was approaching dinner time when Selina came in.
"Alfred called and said he wants you home for supper. "
"Are you going home now too?"
"Once Brittany comes in I can go if you want to wait for me. Does your friend need a ride?"
Danny looked away from the cat, "No ma'am."
Selina nodded, "Okay get ready to go Brittany should be here soon."
Damian acknowledged her and she left. They clean up the mess and set up Cleo temporary home. Damian seemed nervous. Danny can't think of any reason why. Damian tugged on Danny's sleeve. Danny turned and looked at him. Danny's breath got caught in his throat. He knew in his ghost form he had unnaturally green eyes but Damian's were different. The sparkled almost like a light shining through an emerald.
"I was thinking," Damian shuffled a bit uncomfortable, " maybe we can hang out again. "
"Hell yeah, " Danny handed Damian his phone, "give me your number and we can talk about it."
Damian grabbed Danny's phone. He rolled his eyes at the ghost wallpaper. He put in his name and number. He was excited. Not long after Damian and Selina left.
Danny shot Sam a text asking where they were. She texted back with a map link. He hurried over.
"You guys won't believe what just happened."
"Does it have to do with that stupid look on your face?" Sam asked as she picked off the cheese on her slice.
"This is just my regular face!"
Sam rolled her eyes, "Mhm what happened?"
"You remember the kid I saved yesterday," both teens nodded, "well I saw him again and I got his number."
Tucker choked on his pizza. Sam patted his back until he stopped. Tucker looked at Danny bewildered.
"You're telling you got a billionaire, ward of Bruce Wayne, practically a celebrity phone number."
"Oh yeah I forgot he was wealthy but yeah. He's really down to earth. He's snarky, cute, great with animals, and he was totally cool with the ghost thing."
"He was cool with getting kidnapped," Sam looked at him, "Danny you sure this is a good idea."
"No not with getting kidnapped but me being a ghost anyway there is no way—"
Tucker and Sam stood up at the same time and yelled, "he knows?"
Danny smiled sheepishly, "I wasn't planning on telling him but you know some stuff happened it was unavoidable. I'll explain later."
"Explain now!"
Danny ran through everything that happened. He started at finding the cat and ending with the phone number without leaving out a detail. Both of his friends were stunned. Danny happily stole a slice of the pie and ate. It was a good day.
Selina was quiet the first half of the ride. He knew what was coming though. As if on cue Selina lowered the music.
"So that boy. Who is he?"
"A friend."
"Just a friend?"
"As of now, yes. We just met Selina."
"Mhm. And you already gave him your number."
Damian groaned," it's not a big deal."
"So it totally has nothing to do with the fact he is exactly your type and an animal lover."
"Not going to dignify that with a comment."
Selina chuckled at her son's now red cheeks. Hopefully this boy doesn't break his heart. Dealing with heartbreak after Jon was hard and he just now got to a good place.
"Regardless, I'm in your corner. He seems like a kind kid and it's nice seeing you opening up again. I'm proud of you no matter the outcome."
"Thanks," Damian paused, "thanks mom."
It took all of Selina's willpower not to gush. Damian was the last of the kids to come around after Bruce and herself got married. She smiled and put up the music and focused on getting home.

Venus and Jake are very much a one cat, one dog family. I get the vibe from Venus that she loves all animals, but she just vibes with cats better and Jake is so dog coded. Definitely one to get a pure bred golden retriever or bring home a stray. No in between.
So when he tells Venus "I'm ready for a new addition to our family."
Which of course screws with Venus a bit because she just got used to the idea of being known, and now he just expects her to say 'yes' to having a child???
"I was looking at some dog shelters-"
She definitely has to be the strong one while he's planning a jail break. "Jake, I'm sorry, but we can't take them all."
"V, we can just buy a house on a piece of land, it'll be the dream. They can roam free. Look at their faces..."
And all she sees is his eyes and pure white smile next to a chihuahua that's vibrating into the next dimension. "Don't do that."
"Got you to cave once. I can wear you down again. And I've got some adorable friends this time."
And when he finally does take one to a room so that way they can play with them for a bit, he definitely tells the dog "go to your mama." And venus will never admit to the way it made her feel.
Not a thot, but a th❤(gh)t
I love this th♥️ght!
Venus loves all animals, but is drawn to cats due to how independent and selective they are. She and Jake adopt another kitty and name them Pastrami. Pastrami and Rugelach instantly bond.
Jake grew up on a ranch, so he loves any and all animals. I see him and Bob bonding over that (I headcanon that Bob grew up on a farm in the Midwest).
Oh God, he would ask it that way.
"Jake, that's a huge commitment and we just got married, don't you think we need some time to settle?" Venus asks, trying not to lose her shit.
Jake just nods like it's no big deal, "I get that. But I was looking at some dog shelters-"
Venus doesn't listen to the rest of his sentence because she's just thinking oh thank God he's talking about animals.
More cuteness underneath
"We are starting with one dog Jake. Our townhouse isn't big enough-"
"We can just buy a house," Jake shrugs as he continues to pet the German Shepard who has made their home into Jake's lap.
"You seriously want to buy a house just to have more dogs?"
"Not just more dogs. Eventually," Jake's cheeks begin to turn red, "Kids too."
Venus is doing everything not to appear flustered, "Slow down cowboy. Let's focus on a dog today."
They find this pitbull terrier mix. She had puppies before, and now that her pups have been adopted, the shelter wants her to find her forever home. Her name is Nellie and Jake is already thinking of what Jewish food they can rename her.
"That means she'll be good with other dogs and kids," Jake points out.
They take Nellie/Bagel (Jake's idea) into the playroom. Bagel is very curious about Jake (it's his Golden Retriever energy), whereas Venus is more calm and gives Bagel some space so they don't get overwhelmed.
"Alright Bagel, go to your mama!" Jake points to Venus and all of a sudden, she feels her stomach fluttering and a warm feeling washing over her.
Bagel's eyes perk up and she immediately goes over to Venus, who stretches out an open hand to let her sniff.
They take Bagel home that day.
Six months later, Jake comes home carrying a little black Labrador puppy.
"Jacob Seresin, why do you have a dog?!" Venus asks. Bagel's tail is wagging as she waits at Jake's feet.
"They were running along the highway and I knew a big storm was coming! I couldn't just leave them out there!" Venus can't even get mad because the dog is super cute and Jake's actions are secretly making her melt.
They do take the dog to the shelter but no one comes first the sweet little thing. And after seeing Bagel take such good care of them, Jake and Venus really have no choice but to adopt Lox.

For @sobernatural’s milestone party. Congrats on 2k, Sana ♡ Here’s a silly little fic in which Dean adopts a cat and Cas doesn’t handle it very well.
Read on ao3
Things were more or less back to normal, or about as normal as could be expected given everything that had happened. Chuck was gone. Jack was running Heaven. Castiel now had his very own room back at the Bunker (though he still didn’t sleep).
But Castiel didn’t know where he fit in Dean’s life now that his feelings were out in the open. He loved Dean more fiercely than he ever thought possible. That was one thing that hadn’t changed, and he knew it never would. He was content to love Dean unrequitedly until the day he ceased to exist. He had made his peace with that. And yet…
It was selfish, really, and he knew it. But Castiel had hoped that eventually, Dean would say something—anything—on the subject, one way or another. He could live with knowing, no matter what that knowledge provided. But since his daring rescue from the Empty, after Dean had wrapped Cas in his arms with a, “Let’s get you home,” Dean had resorted to ignoring the elephant in the room completely. So here was Castiel, biting his tongue and reminding himself that just being with Dean was enough.
That is, until Dean brings home a stray kitten that he’d found wandering outside the Bunker.
“Dean, you’re allergic to cats,” Castiel had reminded him when he first found Dean cradling the shaggy, matted calico in his arms. “You can’t possibly want to keep her.”
“Minor inconvenience,” Dean had replied, eyes already red and puffy. “They have those allergy shots now, don’t they?”
Castiel had met this response with an eye roll, but because he would do anything to make Dean happy, had reached out and summoned a small amount of his remaining Grace to cure Dean of his so called “minor inconvenience.”
So that’s how Carmen Electra became the newest occupant of the Bunker. And Castiel was finding it… difficult to adjust.
It isn’t that Castiel doesn’t like cats. He actually has a special propensity for these particular creatures compared to their dog counterparts (Miracle, for instance, still growls at Castiel whenever he enters a room). And Carmen is a good cat. She loves to curl up in your lap, and follow you around the Bunker. She chirps at you any time she wants something to eat or a belly rub, and she never scratches at the furniture.
Even so, Castiel had been feeling slightly out of sorts since Carmen’s arrival, and for a reason he couldn’t quite place, “just being” with Dean was become something that was easier said than done.
It all comes to a head one day when Castiel finds himself in the kitchen with Sam and Dean.
Dean had just finishing feeding Carmen her favorite meal of salmon in gravy, and was now retreating to the library, Carmen following hot on his heels. Cas looks after them and scowls without really meaning to.
“Man, I never pegged you for a cat critic,” Sam says with a small chuckle.
“I am actually quite partial to cats,” Castiel replies, still looking off into the hallway where Dean has just disappeared, before turning to give Sam a weak smile.
“Huh, could have fooled me,” Sam shrugs, but then seems to dwell on it for another moment. “Wait, are you jealous?”
“Carmen likes me just as much as she likes Dean,” Castiel says as he gathers up the dirty dishes and places them in the sink.
“Cas. I don’t mean jealous of Dean,” Sam pauses. “I mean jealous of Carmen.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Sam,” but Castiel’s cheeks are suddenly burning hot, and he’s glad his back is now to Sam. He clears his throat. “What reason would I possibly have to be jealous of a cat?”
“Gee, I don’t know, Cas.” Castiel can hear the amusement in Sam’s voice. “Maybe because she’s taking all of Dean’s attention?”
“Kittens require a lot of care,” Castiel says through gritted teeth. “I think it’s nice that Dean is taking on that responsibility.”
Sam snorts. “Okay. Sure. Whatever you say.” And that ends the conversation.
Except, Castiel spends the rest of the day thinking about what Sam said. Is that what he’s been feeling? Jealousy? He knows he’s experienced similar feels when Dean has mentioned, well, any of his past romantic prospects. But that’s not what Carmen is at all. So what’s he jealous of?
He’s still mulling it over when he walks past Dean’s room later that evening and stops short at the conversation he overhears through the half-open door.
“Come on, Carmen. Catch the string. Can you ca—there you go! What a good little hunter you are. Yes, you are! Love my smart little hunter!”
And Castiel doesn’t know what comes over him, but suddenly he can’t help himself. He bursts through the door, causing Dean and Carmen to startle.
“So, is that what I need to do?”
Dean stares up at Castiel from his seat on the floor next to Carmen, seemingly thrown by Castiel’s hostile tone.
“Uh, I don’t…” confusion is written all over Dean’s beautiful, stupid face. “I’m not sure what you’re asking me here, Cas.”
Castiel huffs and gestures to Carmen, currently batting at the piece of yarn Dean is still dangling in front of her.
“That. What she’s doing.”
Dean blinks twice. He looks at Carmen. He looks at Castiel. “Who, the cat?”
“Yes, Dean, the cat.”
"Uhhh, still not sure what the question is."
“Do I need to roll over on the floor? Do I need to play with a ball of yarn?” Castiel can feel himself getting more and more exasperated but he can’t seem to stop himself. “Do I need to chase my tail? Do I need to… to… lick my own ass?! Is that what I need to do, Dean?”
Castiel is vibrating. With rage? Embarrassment? He’s not quite sure, but Dean is suddenly standing in front of him, hands on his shoulders, and Castiel’s head snaps to face him. Dean is looking utterly bewildered.
“Hey, hey slow down, okay?” Castiel feels himself begin to relax under Dean’s grip. “Deep breaths, okay?”
Castiel inhales slowly, followed by a shaky exhale. He continues to match Dean’s exaggerated breathing.
“Now, you wanna try that again?” Dean finally says, giving Castiel’s arms a light squeeze, letting them slowly graze down the length of his arms before dropping to rest at his sides. And Castiel suddenly feels impossibly small.
“What do I need to do for you to love me?”
It comes out as barely a whisper, and Castiel can’t believe the words are even his. Dean freezes, his eyes going wide. He takes an uneasy step back, out of Castiel’s space.
“I, uh…” Dean swallows down his unspoken words, and here is goes. Castiel knew this day would come eventually. He should have been content to just be, because now he’s not sure if the knowing is worth it.
“Cas, I don’t know how to say this...”
Castiel’s stomach drops.
“Right. I understand, Dean.” He steps further away from Dean, head down.
“Agh, wait no. Ah, shit.” Dean fumbles trying to grab Castiel’s arm and catches a handful of his sweatshirt instead. He pulls Castiel back towards him but doesn’t loosen his grip. When Castiel meets his eye, Dean is staring earnestly back.
“That came out wrong. Can you just, hold on. Can you sit down?” Dean asks, guiding Castiel down to the edge of the bed. Dean starts pacing back and forth across the room, muttering to himself. He looks to the ceiling and takes a deep breath in before turning to face Castiel.
“I’m, uh, not very good at this,” Dean rubs at the back of his neck. “You know, talking about feelings and stuff.”
“Dean, you don’t have—“
“No, Cas. I do,” Dean interrupts him, and Castiel snaps his mouth shut. He scans Dean’s face for some tell, but for the first time, he’s having trouble reading his expression.
“So, the thing is, I didn’t know you could feel that way, you know? Especially about, well, me. And then suddenly you did and then you were gone and when you got back I… I don’t know. I still couldn’t believe it. Especially because I had spent so long telling myself I would never have you like that, have you feel the way I did but I… shit man, if you’re asking what you need to do for me to love you, you don’t need to do a damn thing because… I already love you. I love you so much it’s actually kinda stupid, and I didn’t know what to do with that at first but—“
And Castiel is suddenly on his feet, closing the space between them and he doesn’t hear anything else Dean is saying, all he hears is Dean’s sharp inhale as their lips collide and all he feels is Dean’s body pressed against his and then their mouths are dancing together and their hands are in each other’s hair and it’s heated and urgent and perfect.
When they finally break apart, Castiel is seeing stars, and Dean is laughing.
“Jesus, man,” Dean finally catches his breath, and frames Castiel’s face with his hands. “I can’t believe you thought I loved a cat more than you.”
And from the ground, wrapping herself around both their legs, Carmen gives an affirmative meow.

Stray Kitten
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
pairing: Kuroo Tetsurou x gn!reader
summary: Kuroo finds a stray kitten on his way home and decides to bring her home (fluff / domestic fluff)
a/n: i know kuroo is a dog person and i refuse to accept it.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
You were currently spread out on the living room couch listening to the pitter patter of the raindrops. Dinner is already made and you're just waiting for your boyfriend to come home so you can eat with him.
You hear the familiar knock pattern on your apartment door making you get up in an instant to greet Kuroo on the other side of the door. He's probably drenched from the rain cause he forgot his umbrella this morning (even after you reminded him like three times). You grab a towel on your way just in case he needs it.
You were right, he is drenched, but there's also someone else who is drenched with him. "I got something for us !!" he announces proudly while holding up a small black kitten like Simba from The Lion King pose. She looks like she can’t be older than 4 weeks.
"oh my god tetsu I love you so much!" you cry while wrapping the towel around the kitten and bringing her inside, you kiss kuroo on the lips, he’s so happy to see you happy. Kuroo was aware how badly you wanted a kitten and last week he also saw you browsing animal shelter websites on your laptop to adopt one.
“how did you get her ?” you inquire while he strips off his damp work clothes in the entryway, “this little baby was following me from outside the station and i couldn’t find any of her family so i brought her home” he explains with a grin plastered on his face, “plus she kinda looks like me” he adds causing you to chuckle.
You’re drying the kitten with the towel as Kuroo returns from the bathroom, now changed into a black hoodie with sweats. “She’s adorable” you say and he agrees.
One thing you and Kuroo had in common was your love for animals, especially cats, they're just so adorable with their little toe beans and their little ears.
You hand the towel wrapped kitten to Kuroo as he settles beside you on the couch. She meows, causing you both to let out a simultaneous "awwww", "I think she's hungry" he says after a moment, "I'll get you both some milk" you ruffle his hair and get up from your position to fetch them both something warm.
You heat up some chocolate milk (his favourite) for Kuroo and pour some whole milk in a small bowl for the kitten. You return to the living room and the sight of Kuroo petting the kitten's head and rubbing her chin while talking to her in a baby voice makes your heart feel all warm and fluffy.
Kuroo smiles at you, his eyes extra glossy today compared to their usual appearance and takes his glass from your hand. You set the kitten on the floor and the milk bowl in front of her.
With a little encouragement from her new adoptive parents and lots of sniffing, she finally starts licking at the surface of milk, soon realising that it tastes good. (adult cats cannot digest milk but kittens can)
The kitten cleaned herself after finishing the milk and got a bit friendlier with you two, letting you hold and pet her. You guys spent the entire evening playing with the kitten and laughing at its antics.
You learnt something new today and it’s that kittens love chasing around toilet paper and playing with round things. You made a mental note to make a vet appointment tomorrow and to buy cat food and litter first thing in the morning.
It's pretty late now and you're lying in bed after dinner with your head resting on your lover's shoulder and his arm wrapped around your upper back. You can feel his steady heartbeat under the palm of your hand resting on his chest while you both lay contently watching the kitten sleep on her makeshift pillow and hoodie bed.
"Tetsu" you say softly, he hums in response urging you to go on, "what should we name her ?", "ball sack" he replies earning himself a light smack on the head, "your naming rights have been revoked" you tell him while giggling. You both continue discussing kitten names and eventually leave the topic to be discussed with Kenma since you can’t agree on a name.
An hour has passed since you switched off the lights, leaving just a small lamp on in case the kitten gets up and tries to find you (even though you know that cats have excellent vision in the dark).
"y/n ?" Kuroo whispers, "we're cat parents now" he announces, "I guess we are" you reply and he pulls you closer on his side, placing a kiss on your temple.

What is the response of the boys at seeing a box full of abandoned puppies and kittens?
In my country this doesn’t happen often if at all, so I don’t know how it usually goes, but in my country the best course of action would be to bring them or call the animal shelter to pick them up where they’ll be getting the best care of their health and needs till they find their forever home. So in this ask im going to follow how it would go in my country.
If you want a part two with the aviantale and horrorfell boys please let me know!
Let’s cast some magic and see what we’ll get!✨
Tumblr media
✨✨
(UT)
Sans: He’ll pet them and talk to them for a while before continuing on his day, he does keep them in the back of his mind. If he finds some of them still left at the end of the day he’ll shortcut them to the shelter.
Papyrus: He takes them home and starts a website to find a forever home for the little critters. He also asks friend’s and family if they would wanna adopt a kitten or puppy. Shelters have slipped his mind. Plus he personally wants to send them off to their forever home.
✨✨
(US)
Sky: I think he will adopt one of the puppies. He’s been wanting a dog but the chance never arose. Now it did and he isn’t going to waste it. Sky will take good care of the puppy he picks out of the box. He’ll ask if any of his friends or family are looking for a kitten or pup, and the remaining pups and kittens he brings to the shelter. He does visit them every now and again with his own pup to see how they’re doing.
Syrup: So now Syrup finds the kittens and puppies instead of Sky. And just like Sky, he’ll take one of the puppies out of the box to take home. He’ll stay with the kittens and puppies for a while, wanting to see if the owner returns or if anyone else will adopt them. Afterwards he’ll call the shelter.
✨✨
(UF)
Red: Doesn’t really know what to do with them. He pets them a couple times before continuing on his day. Only to find - when he’s back home - all the kittens around and somehow inside the house. Some are even sleeping on his bed. And Red doesn’t really mind at first, they are amazing cuddle buddies and it gives him an excuse to be lazy. Until Charon decides enough is enough and tells Red to find them a home or bring to the shelter. Red still gets visits from some of the kittens sometimes.
Charon: He hadn’t noticed until the kittens and pups started following him everywhere he went like a Disney princess. Charon’ sockets would widen before looking around. Deadass thinking he just accidentally stole peoples pets. He even backtracks a bit to see if anyone storms up to him both worried for their pet, but also questioning what the hell they were doing with him. But when he doesn’t see anyone he realizes they were strays. Charon shepherds them to the shelter. But to this day will still sometimes find some of the kittens hanging around and inside his house.
✨✨
(HT)
Bear: Bear’s sockets would widen, he would look around him, trying to spot anyone who could have possibly left these little sweethearts behind. Bear is taking them to the animal shelter he works at and takes good care of them until every single one finds a good forever home.
Bean: The kittens seem to absolutely love to climb his entire body like he’s some kind of monkey bar. He finds them adorable. If Bear is currently at home Bean will bring them there to ask Bear for advice. If he’s already at work he’ll bring them there since Bear works at an animal shelter. Bean will hesitate to say goodbye to the little creatures but he knows they will get the best care right here and find their forever home.
✨✨
(SF)
Razzle: Clicks his non-existent tongue. He doesn’t agree with the way they were just left to their devices in this world in boxes with no roof nor food. Who knows how long it takes for anyone to take them. Razzle takes the kittens and puppies to the shelter.
Coal: He wants to keep a few puppies. He’s taking a few with them and asks Razzle if he can keep them.
Mastiff: He’s going to stay with the kittens and puppies for a few hours. Playing with them, watching to see if anyone takes them. Sneaks a kitten inside the house.
✨✨

Thank you for participating in this spell, I hope it was to your satisfaction!

Tales of Arise main 6 in IKEA
Alphen
Goes through every cut through door he finds and always chooses the wrong direction after so he goes in circles and sees the same displays 20 times
When he finally finds the upstairs food court he gets a load of meatballs and lingonberry soda and sits by the window and hopes Shionne will find him (she does bc he was smart enough to stay where the food is)
Spends too much time imagining the demo rooms in a home he shares with Shionne and keeps asking what she thinks until she ties a measuring strip around his mouth (it isn't an efficient gag but he's not an idiot and just follows her like a sad puppy)
Gets distracted in Cooking and Eating trying to figure out what everything is for
Shionne
Uses the map to plot out an efficient route (that Alphen and Law immediately stray from)
Gets food the moment she goes upstairs to the showroom. Then again before going downstairs to the marketplace. Then AGAIN at the smaller food stand behind the registers.
Spends a lot of time in Home Organization thinking of how to get her home Just Right
Buys several bags of meatballs and lingonberry sauce
Thinks it's adorable how excited Alphen is but gets annoyed when he doesn't take enough time to think about style and cohesion
Wanted to leave Law in Småland but he was too old/tall.
Vows to bring leashes for Alphen and Law next time
Rinwell
Her favorite department is lighting. She really likes all the weird ones but after bringing home a Vidja and trying to put it together she's over it
Spends a lot of time giggling over the fake books and their titles
Strangely fascinated by the wardrobes
Buys at least a dozen bars of chocolate
Tries every single chair in the showroom. Every. Single. One.
Wants the children's screened in egg chairs in an adult size
Law
Does a drum solo on every desk and countertop sample and insists it's a vital part to testing them
Gets Alphen in on it until Shionne drags them both away by their ears
Gets several plates of Swedish meatballs (they ARE pretty small after all)
Spends a lot of time in the kids showroom hiding under a curtained loft bed
Tried longer than he'd ever admit to get the fake electronics to work
Made fun of Alphen getting lost and challenged him to a contest to find the exit and lost
Was found sobbing in Textiles by an employee who thought he was a lost child. Kisara came to get him and was Suffering
Kisara
Too stressed out trying to keep track of everyone to do any shopping of her own
Absolutely exhausted and frazzled by the end
Should have known she'd find Shionne where the food was yet was surprised anyway
Made sure everyone had a map but only the other girls used it. She at least thought Dohalim would, but no. The men cannot be trusted, she learned
Would have enjoyed the Textiles department if Law hadn't gotten lost there
Will return with the girls at some point because then she'll actually be able to do some shopping of her own when she isn't playing mom
Dohalim
His favorite department is Home Décor
He invited himself to the challenge of finding the exit between Law and Alphen and lost because that's the last department before the warehouse and exit
He was looking at all the art and weird shaped mirrors and clocks
Was oddly taken by the dog butt wall hooks and bought a bunch when Kisara wasn't looking
INSISTED on a Kallax bookshelf SOLELY to get one of the cat bed inserts to try to win over Zareh (it didn't work but another cat adopted him by taking over that space)

I honestly only had a handful of polyships for Disney’s Ultimate Spider-Man and at least one of them is kind of more on the taboo side and would get me a lot of flack for writing about, I’m guessing, so while it would have been my first pick, I decided to go with a safer bet! I used this prompt again and hope you all enjoy the headcanons for Ben/Reader/Flash!
Who cries when someone dies in a movie?
Not somebody, but goddamn, if a dog dies in a movie, Flash is in tears. Just please don’t let anyone know. He left the room whenever a scene like that came on early on in your relationship, with excuses like needing to pee or needing to grab more popcorn because he’s embarrassed about his reaction and didn’t want you to see. It’s only once the two of you are super close and he fully trusts you that he’ll let you see him tear up at those scenes and it would crush him if you ever let anyone, and especially Ben, know his little soft side.
Who wears the ugly holiday garb?
Flash definitely buys the three of you ugly Christmas sweaters, the absolute gaudiest ones he can find (with a distinct preference for ones with jingle bells or lights) to wear together on Christmas Eve. Ben scowls the whole time he’s wearing it but does it for you and Flash. The pictures Flash wants to take while wearing the sweater…yeah, those aren’t happening.
Who pays for the meals?
I feel like it would be you the most and that meals out are actually kind of a rare occasion. Both Ben and Flash didn’t grow up with lots of spare money and are really kind of frugal with the money they do get because it’s a security thing to them. They never want to live in that kind of poverty again and definitely don’t want that for the life they want to build with you. So suppers out are normally limited to special occasions or if  you offer to treat them and both men are always quite appreciative when you do, though Ben forgets his manners and saying thank you.
Who slams the oven door and who plays the trombone?
Ben doesn’t want to do this. This is dumb…so how did he manage to end up in sunglasses, scowling and mindlessly slamming an oven door while either you or Flash try to play a trombone and the other one films it all? Please someone tell him because he really doesn’t know.
Who brings home stray animals?
Flash always wanted pets growing up but his parents never let him have any. They just didn’t have the money to afford a pet and whenever, in his childhood, Flash would sneak a stray into the house, feeding it part of his meals, they’d end up throwing the animal right back out onto the streets when they found it and would ground Flash. Because of this, Flash, once out on his own and in a place where he can have pets, tends to adopt strays, both ones that stay outside and ones that he brings into the house. Oddly enough though, and it’s a bit of a sore spot for Flash, most of the animals take to you or Ben quicker than they do to him.
Who leaves the bathroom door open?
This is something Ben does. He wasn’t really taught much in the way of manners or of how to properly live with others and it’s definitely a learning curve for him. He still forgets every now and again, and it’s something you and Flash will have to either get used to or remind him kindly about.
Who tells the ‘dad jokes’?
Flash really isn’t funny, at least not when he’s trying to be, and a lot of his humour is puns and bad dad jokes. If you tell dad jokes too, it will turn into a little competition of seeing who can tell the worst one.
Who wants kids more?
This is either you or Flash. Flash definitely sees having children in the future, preferably a boy and a girl, just that classic all-American family. Ben, meanwhile, is very, very adamant that he doesn’t want children and he would hold that child-free attitude for most of his life. He doesn’t know how to be a father, doesn’t know how to handle children, and the whole idea just terrifies him, if he’s being honest.
Who travels more?
Both men will travel a fair bit in their work as superheroes, especially where they work with S.H.I.E.L.D. Whenever possible, they really like travelling with you as well. Ben hates making travel arrangements or planning things out more while Flash has a harder time remembering to be properly respectful of other cultures while out traveling.
Who spends more cash?
I mentioned above, but it’s likely you. As said, both Ben and Flash are pretty careful with their money and while Flash might spend big on more lavish purchases, like a car, he does so only when he’s saved up enough money to do so.
Who buys the things in infomercials?
Now, while smart with his money, when he does have enough for a little spending, I feel like infomercials would definitely draw Flash in, or anything on the shopping channel. He buys easily into fancy words and graphics and if an item looks really cool or high-tech, he really will want to go buy it. He also really likes buying you stuff off the shopping channel and it’s where most of your birthday and Christmas gifts come from.
Who draws in the dust on their cars?
Okay, but when Flash has a car, there isn’t ever dust on it to draw in. He is so proud of his vehicle that he keeps it nice and clean. It becomes a hobby of his, cleaning and polishing and shining up his baby, who he will definitely let you name. Ben prefers a motorcycle over a car and while it might get dirty or messy, he gets pissy when anyone touches it and after a fight about it, neither you or Flash would draw on it. So, it would have to be your car that got drawn on and I think neither of them would really do that, honestly.
Who starts the snowball fights?
This would be Flash, no question asked. What else are you supposed to do in the snow, after all? And he’s got such great aim that he’s always going to hit you or Ben. Ben is easily drawn into a snowball fight because he hates being hit with snowballs and retaliation is his first instinct in most things. If you want to play, Flash is so happy and him and Ben take it easy on you, even though they say they don’t. That being said, Flash will get pouty if you just want to observe.
Who throws away the directions to things?
Both of these men can be completely stubborn asshats when it comes to this. They both insist that they already know what to do and they don’t need the directions. Just trust them, alright? And then, of course, hours go by and as much as you try to tell them what the directions say, they both tune you out or get snappy because goddammit, they are not losing to whatever contraption they bought.
Who puts up holiday décor?
Flash really loves Christmas. It’s a really strong headcanon of mine that it’s his favourite holiday, though he also gets really into Halloween and Easter and most holidays. They were big things for him growing up, really the only time his family splurged on much, and holidays play a huge part in his good memories. So when it comes to celebrating holidays with you and Ben, he wants to make those same kind of memories, wants to do all the holiday-esque things, especially when it’s around Christmas. He wants the three of you to deck out the house together, to drink hot chocolates around a fire place, to take Christmas card pictures, to build gingerbread houses. It really means the absolute world to him and it’s really apparent to both you and Ben, who do go along with him, albeit with some snarking on Ben’s part.
Who is more likely to forget to bathe?
This is easily Ben. Even canonically, he’s not really shown to care too deeply, if at all, about personal hygiene and while it’s something he improves on, he sees no big issues in going a few days to a week without showering or bathing or even brushing his teeth if he’s busy.
Who gets more obsessed about things?
Flash is more open about his passion for things, but Ben is more obsessive. Flash never really hyper-focuses on one thing. It’s normally ‘thought, act on thought, thought gone and done with’ in Flash’s mind whereas Ben broods terribly over things and has a really hard time banishing thoughts from his mind.
Who sings in the shower more often?
I feel like Flash definitely sings in the shower and, in a surprising twist, it’s normally show-tunes or musical numbers. It’s just a shame that he is such a terrible, terrible singer. Both you and Ben quickly learn to either wear headphones when he goes in to shower or to turn up the television or radio to drown out the noise.

i must know more about the kitties you have with your husbands 🫶🏻 pretty pwease
WHEEEEEEE ofc ofc I will gush abt them all always 🙏🏻 on a base level none of these cats r purebreds or anything they’re all strays either organically found or adopted from a shelter/another home. also there r so many pics i cant make them smaller so everything is utc
Gagamaru and I have one cat that was originally mine, Kabocha. He’s very sweet but is a bit flighty and takes a long time to warm up to Gagamaru; the first time I rlly have the hes the one thought is when I walk in on him napping on my couch w Kabo tucked into the crook of his arm dozing away bc!!!! It’s the first time he’s been comfortable enough to sleep on anyone other than me. Very himbo cat, absolutely gorgeous but total dumbass.
Tumblr media
Kuroo and I have three cats! I had two and he had one when we combined households we were veeeeeeery careful w introducing them 🥺 he’s had a grouchy old lady for as long as I’ve known him. Her name is Suki and he took her in as a stray after an elderly neighbor’s son let her loose; she adores him and it’s slow going but she comes to adore me as well. I had a cat that passed a few weeks after I met him and then didn’t have any pets for a while, but then abt half a year before we move in together he stumbles across a trio of kittens on his way to a date w me and the date devolves into us getting them care……. One unfortunately doesn’t make it :( but I end up taking in the other two; they’re a lil girl and boy named Mizuki and Hoshi. Old lady is tolerant of them but they’re def a bit too energetic for her so the only times they rlly interact r when they’re in a puddle together napping…. Suki is the calico, Mizuki and Hoshi r the white ones! Once they’re fully grown they’re both bigger than her, tho Hoshi is an absolute unit and is the biggest by quite a bit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe I’ve said this once but. I have a perpetual series of completely normal housecats w Jing Yuan pfft I try my best but they have an unfortunate tendency of hunting his finches :( I only ever have one-three at a time and ofc I adore them all but I do end up w like fifty over the course of our lives together LMFAOOOOO including a few lil lineages where I kept many generations down the line!!! But the three that I’ve thought about r Jade and her kittens Bei and Feng (Yanqing named those two……) bc they’re the ones I have over the course of Mimi’s life. Mimi is a co-parent in their odd little pride, she and Jade grew up together and are very bonded n constantly exasperated by their rambunctious boys……. just like me and mine, though Yanqing and Jing Yuan constantly protest that comparison 🫣
Tumblr media
i Have talked abt shanks before but its funny to me so. this lil scrawny tuxedo kitten ends up following me onto the red force one day (bc i fed it) and nobody realizes until we've set off.... i am told i Cannot name it or get attached bc we Will be leaving it on the next island....... except the crew ends up getting attached and they name it sharkbait. SHARKBAIT. FOREVER bitter NEVER getting over it every time shanks and i get into any kind of fight i bring it up "ALSO YOU TOLD ME I COULDNT NAME THE DAMN CAT AND NOW ITS NAMED SHARKBAIT YOU STILL OWE ME" (he will never stop owing me)
Tumblr media
Lil bonus bc he’s been on the mind for months now: Capitano is not a cat person in fact when I first ask for one he gets me a pair of massive guard dogs that I stubbornly refuse to name at first and then end up calling Fluffy and Cuddles out of pure spite. Then I bitch enough that he does get me a kitten who Absolutely Fucking Despises Him tries to rip him to shreds every time he gets in bed with me (a week in he admits he finds it endearing but she does get kicked out of the room regularly when he wants alone time) I call her Lady she is a very elegant girl when she is not trying to murder him and actually gets along very well w the dogs, much to Capitano’s chagrin

Pride month
Thanks @tarlosweeklyprompts for today's prompt. Is lovely
Prompt: "TK brings home another pet but "forgets" to tell Carlos about it. What's the pet and how does Carlos react when he finds it?
Tumblr media
Title: A new member of the family
Summary: TK brings home a new pet but has no idea how Carlos will react when he sees it.
TK didn't realize what he had done until it was too late and he was already at home with the box on the kitchen counter.
It wasn't a lizard and that was already giving him points because he had made the same mistake as the other time. Although I didn't know at the time that Carlos had a problem with reptiles, bringing Lou home as a pet had not been the best idea. A lot of people kept reptiles as pets... but that was water under the bridge.
Now I had done it again and I didn't know until I had tried to adopt Lou, that I was the type of person who would adopt the animals they found stray. Now he had definitive proof because he hadn't been able to resist picking up the little porcupine they had found next to the ambulance on the way out of that park.
"You'll have a house around here TK." Nancy had told him, trying to dissuade him from the idea she had seen written all over his face. "But you don't care what I tell you do you?"
"It's a park where a lot of kids play and people come with their dogs, they're sure to hurt it or eat it."
"I said, you don't care what I tell you."
Maybe it wasn't the exact word, but he didn't hear much of what Nancy said next about the idea of having such a critter in the house, that she didn't think it was a pet or that neither he nor Carlos had any idea how to take care of it.
TK picked up the little animal that unraveled the ball he had turned its body into and stared at it.
He was sure it was thanking him with its little black eyes and although it didn't give anything away, he was sure he had seen it smile at him.
Taking him home to feed him and give him a home was the least he could do.
As long as her boyfriend didn't have a heart attack again.
But this one wasn't a lizard. This time it couldn't go wrong.
Doubts crept in as soon as he heard the sound of the door opening because Carlos was coming home from his shift at work and he could only imagine him running out at the sight of the animal because he had a phobia of spikes to charming little animals.
"I'm home already Tee. Sorry for the delay, but sometimes paperwork takes longer than stopping a couple of thieves in the street. I can't wait for the new detective slots to open up and sit for the exam."
"Sure, babe. You're going to do great."
Carlos turned around after dropping the bag and jacket on the couch. "You sound weird. What's wrong?"
"Nothing, nothing's wrong, why should anything be wrong?"
Carlos folded his arms and let a huge smile creep across his face as he walked to the kitchen, where TK was preparing a snack for the two of them before Carlos set about preparing dinner.
"This is when I'm sure something's up."
Carlos' gaze went straight to the cardboard bed on the counter.
"Babe, don't get mad and I assure you that if it looks bad to you, if it's scary or if it's because you have a phobia that I don't know about yet, then I'll take him to the vet and have them take care of it."
"You just put a lot of images in my head about what's in that box, so I better look at it and take the scare myself."
He walked slowly over to the box, held his breath imagining the terrible creature TK had brought home to him and opened it.
First he saw a small ball covered in spikes or something. He thought he was pulling her leg, but then the creature moved inside, undid the ball and raised its little head.
"Oh my god." Said Carlos reaching into the box and put the porcupine in the palm of his hand. "It's so... small."
The little animal lifted its head and stood on its two hind legs to bring its black snout close to Carlos' face.
The policeman laughed and moved his finger closer and suddenly a tiny lizard gave him a lick.
"TK..."
"I know, I know, it gives you the willies, you hate it and you want me to get rid of it."
"You've gone crazy! How are we going to get rid of him, have you seen his little face? He's the most innocent creature I've seen since... since I met you, but other than human beings, he's the cutest thing I've seen in a long time."
"Do you really mean it? I thought that... I don't know, we've never talked about having a pet and I thought you'd be more about having one of those huge dogs to go for a run with every morning."
"Well I'd like that too but with the life we lead, I don't have time to take care of an animal that needs to leave the house three times every day. But a little animal that spends time hibernating, but at the same time is the most adorable creature I've ever seen."
He gave a few caresses to the porcupine who lay down on his man, belly up and stretched his body, as if he expected him to continue with the caresses or was simply expressing his affection for him.
"So...is it okay if we keep him?"
Carlos' response came as he put the little animal on his shoulder so he could have his hands free, open the fridge and grab something to drink for the both of them.
"Do you take the computer to ask to find out what we need to buy from him and order from Amazon?"

If they require a sinister mafia moment how do they provide the evil cat. Do they adopt local cats, find them on the street, or have one immortal vampire cat/cat lineage.
jenab has a bombay cat named olive! she's not a vampire cat as of right now, but she's everyone's favorite little baby and could not be evil no matter what. how she's survived this long and stayed this spry, nobody knows and nobody wants to find out lest it fuck with her somehow.
the vampire mafia sponsors a ton of TNR projects in new york to help cats get the care they need, and they've fostered a lot of cats, though because of the fact that they're not sure if vampirism would even work with a non-human entity, none of them are vampires.
the verdicts for each of the members:
reuben: absolute cat person. showers all his fosters in love and cannot bear to own any because that means he'll lose them, but his balcony is home to many a stray and he has a lot of cat homes because of that. peter: if he was to get a dog at all, it'd be a very lazy little lapdog. the last thing he needs is disruption and mischief in a house and job where organization is key. he loves senior dogs most. nicky: loves all animals, but prefers to own cats because they're chill. the vibes on a good lazy cat are absolutely Immaculate louisa: a cat person! i mean, what else is a witch going to have? they're also cute and deadly, just like her. tomasso: a dog person, but purely for the aesthetics. he likes the obscure breeds like the bracco italiano, and if he owns a dog at any point, he keeps track of every birthday and birth certificate and spoils that dog fuckin' rotten. finley: he wants to love dogs more than he does, but some breeds' undying loyalty brings up... bad memories. (thankfully, feliks' dogs don't because they're loyal thanks to care and love.) so he likes cats better, and would own a tonkinese cat. feliks: surprisingly a little more of a dog person. perhaps in the 50s, he'd get a doberman pinscher or two. just like him, they are terrifying on the outside, but sweet to those they trust—thanks to nicky and riki's abilities, they can communicate their needs without resorting to barking or biting. riki: since dogs don't try to bap her around when she's a bat, she prefers dogs to cats. she's not a toy, thank you. gaspare: he loves both to bits! though he does love how dogs are never out of affection to give. ami: she vastly prefers cats, but doesn't hate dogs. they just smell weird to her. cats keep themselves far cleaner. gadreau: the type of man to say he doesn't want a cat nor likes them much, but will devote his entire heart and soul to one. it's adorable and hilarious every single time. liesl: cat person! dogs can be pretty disruptive and overly affectionate to her, so she doesn't want to own one, but she doesn't mind them in passing or when she chooses to interact with them. ibán: honestly, he doesn't like either, but he puts up with them for everyone else. as long as they're trained well and they aren't in his apartment without his approval, he doesn't care. ibán tolerates whatever cat gadreau brings in—but only because of how cute his man gets when he's around a cat he loves. jenab: he's got olive, and he loves her to death. he made her her own custom cat tree as a present, and loves to film her antics. total cat dad and owns it.

In Loving Memory of Suzie Q
February 2011 – January 18, 2024
Tumblr media
You were a year and two months old when we met in April 2012. The shelter was full of dogs of all sorts, and I had walked through the whole facility, hoping to find the right dog to call my own. But after looking for a while, it was time for me to leave empty-handed.
As I was making my way out—still near the kennels—I was stopped by one of the employees. He asked if I was looking for any particular breeds. I replied semi-jokingly: "Uh, a Border Collie?" I just finished checking out all of the dogs. Surely I didn't miss any? I figured you must have been out in the play yard.
I didn't have any breed in mind when looking for a dog, so I blurted out what first came to mind. I just thought Border Collies were neat.
"We indeed have a Border Collie mix. Would you like me to get her for you?" (Completely paraphrasing here. Can't remember his exact words.)
"Sure!" I said, thinking nothing would come of it.
I followed him to one of the kennels, and there you were. I had never seen a dog like you before. You were striking. He put on the slip lead, and you were instantly raring to go. You pulled him all the way to the visiting room, tail wagging like mad.
"This is Suzie Q," he said as we settled into the room. I don't know who named you, but I think they picked the perfect name. You really looked like a Suzie to me.
"Suzie Q!" I called to you repeatedly. You were so excited. You kept jumping up onto my lap, licking my face and hands. You had the prettiest amber puppy-dog eyes that just stole my soul. And it was there that I felt the connection. You were 'the one.'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Turns out, you were at the shelter for well over a month, so your adoption fee was only $50. I have no idea how you were passed over for so long. And if it wasn't for that employee, I don't know if I ever would have met you. Sometimes I wonder if it was meant to be. To this day, I wish I knew who that employee was so I could thank him for bringing you into my life.
I never knew what you were exactly mixed with. The shelter had you listed as Border Collie/Setter mix, though I thought you might have had some Cattle Dog. I wanted to get one of those dog DNA tests, but I unfortunately never got around to it, and I really regret it.
Tumblr media
Starting the day I brought you home, you would always follow me all through the house right beside me. You were 'my shadow,' my father called you. We were nearly inseparable.
Tumblr media
You were so smart, as expected. Training you took no effort. You always came when called and easily learned basic things like sit, spin, shake, and lie down. Your only problem was that you were a puller on walks! I had to get you one of those front-clipping harnesses, and it took a while, but you eventually learned to walk properly.
You were also very timid and skittish, especially in the beginning. Pretty much scared of everything. I still remember how I bought you a dog brush, and you were trying to scurry away from it the first time you saw it. I didn't even brush you with it yet! But I was patient and slowly introduced you to it. It was one of the many things I had to acclimate you to. The vacuum, on the other hand... you hated it your whole life.
Tumblr media
Despite your timidness, you loved everyone. You were so sweet, so gentle. Never hurt a fly. Okay, sometimes you did try to catch flies mid-air... and succeeded. Kids loved to pet you, and you had no qualms. You loved the stray cats, even if they didn't quite love you back.
Tumblr media
Your favorite human food was ice cream. I could grab anything out of the fridge and you wouldn't bat an eye, but the very second I lifted the carton of ice cream you knew. You could be anywhere in the house and you would come running. You would then sit and wait expectantly for a tiny bite, and of course I couldn't say no to that precious face.
Tumblr media
Your favorite toys were anything stuffed, especially with a squeaker inside. Specifically the duck toys. You loved to rip them open and take out all of the stuffing like it was a challenge. Finding the squeaker was like digging for gold for you. You always made a huge mess but it didn't matter.
I miss how you would show your love by pressing your body into mine like your own version of a hug. How you would headbutt me and slide your body onto the floor, leaving your butt in the air begging for scratches.
I miss how you would whine and groan when I'd stop petting your rump. You sounded so annoyed. It was like you were saying: "How dare you stop petting me! I demand more!"
I miss how excited you got when it was time to go for a walk. How you would go run over to your harness, barking and wiggling with enthusiasm. Tippy taps included.
I miss how you hated to be outside alone. How impatient you would get; barking your little head off at the door the very second you finished your business, so I could hurry up and let you back inside.
I miss how I had to coax you to walk into the grass when it was damp or when it was raining. You hated getting your feet wet. You would practically tiptoe around the yard.
I miss how you would complain when your food bowl was 'empty.' You would bark like the world was ending and would want me to follow you to come check your bowl. When, in fact, you still had plenty of food left. You ate just enough to show the bottom of the bowl, so I always had to sift the food around to 'fix' it for you.
I miss how you were always there to comfort me. How you always seemed to know how I was feeling. I was never lacking in dog kisses.
I miss you. So, so much. I would give anything to have you back, happy and healthy.
Tumblr media
You brought me nearly 12 years of joy. The best dog I could have asked for. My very best friend. Thank you for all of the love and memories that I will cherish forever.
Tumblr media
I love you, my Suzie Q. My sweet girl. I will never forget you.
Farewell. ❤️🐾🌈

National Black Cat Day: Battersea urges people to look beyond myths when adopting
New Post has been published on https://petnews2day.com/pet-news/cat-news/national-black-cat-day-battersea-urges-people-to-look-beyond-myths-when-adopting/
National Black Cat Day: Battersea urges people to look beyond myths when adopting
L
ondon dogs and cats charity Battersea has urged the British public to ignore misconceptions about black cats before National Black Cat Day on October 27.
The annual event highlights the fact that black cats have less chance of being adopted than cats of other colours, due to widespread myths about the animals.
Now Battersea is encouraging people to look beyond black cats’ appearance and give the “sweet felines” the second chance they deserve. Black cats make up over 40 per cent of the charity’s feline admissions.
Traditional Western superstitions suggest that black cats bring bad luck and should be avoided.
Meanwhile, black cat figures and costumes have become a major part of Halloween. Countless movies show witches and other supernatural beings having black cats to help them with their devilish schemes.
Contrastingly, in other cultures such as in Japan, a black cat crossing your path is viewed as a good omen and a sign of wealth and prosperity.
Paige Havlin, Cattery Team Leader at Battersea, said: “Black cats are commonly associated with a number of misconceptions such as that they aren’t photogenic or that they bring bad luck, but at Battersea, we know this couldn’t be further from the truth. There is so much more to these beautiful, loving cats which make them a great pet for many people.
“There are many black cats at Battersea who are looking for a loving home and we hope that through events like National Black Cat Day, we can raise awareness of just how wonderful these sweet felines are and give them a second chance at life.”
On any given day, Battersea looks after approximately 200 cats across its three sites and in foster care. The charity says it already takes the average cat 27 days to find a new home, but the wait for a black cat can be even longer.
Black cats are often seen as bad omens
/ AP
Panther, a seven-year-old Domestic Short Hair black cat, has been at Battersea for over 50 days and is looking for a calm and loving home to rest his paws, for instance. The charity says Panther is a gentle soul who loves attention and will greet everyone he meets with chirps and head bumps. With endless love to give, Battersea says Panther will make a fantastic companion for a loving family.
A kindle of black, five-month-old kittens called Salem, Thackery and Binx also arrived at Battersea this month after being found as strays with their mum in London. Typical of their age, Battersea says they are friendly and energetic kittens who love playtime and would make the ideal pets for new and experienced owners alike.

Hello!
Recently I was able to escape my previous living situation (mostly. It was practically a cult and it was getting more risky staying there) but the person I'm staying with now is... not what they advertised themself to be? My aunt/grandmother drinks quite a lot, uses weed and is a matriarch of that part of the family (I was raised pretty isolated so I've only seen her a few times a year previously, if I saw her at all).
The problem is thats he is getting progressively more uncomfortable to live with (lowkey transphobic, sexist, homophobic, and a big victim blamer/abuse apologizer). I've only been with her for a month but she has already started an extremely wrong and inappropriate rumor about me and another family member and treats me like a stray dog she took in and is taming (I have CPTSD from so many different types of traumatic events. Turns ooutshe lnew they were happening and never did anything. Even is pressuring me into thinking my parents are wonderful and saved my life).
I'm trying to find an apartment, but I was hoping you could share ideas of places I could visit or go to to get out of the house? Growing up I was kept pretty isolated and never made any friends ad I dont know anyone in the area.
I dont want to make a huge drama because I'm adopted and they already see me as a bit of an outsider because of that, plus I am trying to help someone who is also stuck in a similar situation to me right now (staying somewhere different but still risk). No one else is helping them and if something doesnt happen soon the risks for them are extremely high (attacks and/or death).
Do you have any advice or thoughts or opinions? I've never had an adult in my life that could offer guidance and still very much dont (all the ones right now are either close to my aunt or part of the culty thing my mother runs. Plus my aunt sends updates and pictures to my parents right now even though I'm teting to go low/no contact )
Sorry for the length, and thank you so so so so much for anything you can share on this topic. I dont want to rush you (you will always be important! Take care of yourself first and foremost!) But the sooner the reply the better
Flight Anon
Hi, nonnie! I’m glad you made it out of your previous living situation, but really sorry to hear you landed with someone who’s such a big abuse apologist and such a bigot. You should never have had to hear the things she said about your parents. I hope you know they’re not true. And I really hope you and this other person can find somewhere else to live that is safe and allows you to go no contact with your family. This sounds like a really complicated situation :(
As for places you can visit to get out of the house, I really recommend public libraries if there are any near you. Anyone can go in. They have computers, desks, Wi-Fi, books, movies, places to sit and lounge and just be, food machines, bathrooms, places where you can charge your electronic devices, AC/heating, they’re generally very quiet spaces where no one will disturb you... I think they’re one of the best places to be when you don’t want to be home. And you can take books and other stuff with you if you get a library card.
Public parks are also an option if the weather allows it, although they don’t tend to have places where you can charge your devices. It’s also really good for our minds to surround ourselves with nature from time to time, and you can watch the day go by or even bring a blanket and sit under a tree to read/check your phone for a bit. If you happen to be allergic to pollen, I know at least for me face masks (FFP2 in particular) allow me to sit on the grass without getting an allergic reaction.
Some museums and other cultural exhibitions are free; obviously they’re not an everyday thing, but it’s always worth checking them out if you want to change your surroundings from time to time. If there are any buildings near you where cultural exhibitions are usually held, you can always check their page and see what they’re exhibiting at any point.
Also, although it’s not free, typically if you go to a cafe and order something to eat or drink, you can stay for a few hours on your table even if you’ve finished your order. (This may change from place to place; it may be rude in certain countries, I don’t know). And many cafes do have charging ports and Wi-Fi, as well as AC/heating. You can bring a book or a laptio, but they may be loud (unlike libraries) or have background music.
If you’re not sure how to find these things nearby you, you can always look up the place you live (town, district, street, etc) on Google Maps, zoom in, and scroll around to see what’s around. Or you can turn on your location and search for things like “library”, “park”, “museum”, “gallery”, “cafe”; it will automatically give you the results closest to you. From then on, it’s a matter of trial and error till you find the places you like and start frequenting them.
Does anyone else have other ideas? If so, please feel free to share!
Thank you for the kind words. I hope some of this helps! Sending all my support your way ❤️
