@sergeantwoods Sorry for the long wait, but here's the mer!AU
Think I'll call it Fish Out of the Sea
Ghost x Soap, blacktip reef shark mer!Soap, human Ghost, fluff, getting together (kinda)
Ficlet after the cut 😘
"No."
John sighed, he didn't seem surprised by Shepherd's hard rejection, but he kept trying. Simon had to give props to the fishing boat Captain. "You have the best mer rehabilitation facility in the country. It'd be a shame not to use it."
"You said you had a mermaid. That's not a fucking mermaid, John."
"I said I had an injured mer." He repeated himself from their earlier conversation.
"I'm not taking that thing into my facility."
"He needs help-"
"He's hideous, and aggressive." Shepherd barked. "That thing keeps lashing out, it'll scare patrons, attack my staff, and if that *thing* touches my mermaids, tries to mate with them, I'll have it put down."
"Mers are actually matriarchal, sir." The mer expert, Kyle, finally spoke up. "I've never worked with a shark mer before, but I do know he won't mess with Kate or Rosa, because they won't want him. Since they're together."
"Kyle. For the last time, the mermaids aren't lesbians. They're just fish." Shepherd was one of those who thought of mers as lesser than humans. Obviously.
Simon was standing near the door. No one had noticed him sneak in, but when he'd overheard that the mer was a shark variant, he'd needed to see it. Now, seeing the poor thing huddled in the corner of it's transport tank, curled in on itself, he felt so bad for it. He watched, any time someone went near it it flared out it's dorsal and pectoral fins. It would gnash it's teeth and charge the glass. All signs of aggression in a shark but... as soon as it finished its display it was right back to the furthest corner from the humans. It kept peeking at them over it's own shoulder when it thought they weren't looking. He quietly crept closer.
He took in it's markings, gray on it's back, white on its belly, black tips to it's fins. Claspers on its pelvic fins. A male blacktip reef shark then. His inferior end was all shark, something Simon was very familiar with, as he took care of all of the sharks here at the aquarium, several of them blacktips. His superior end, or top half, he supposed a visitor would (incorrectly) consider it, was new and interesting to him. Though he was vaguely humanoid, his skin was all two tones white and gray, like his tail. He had a wedge shaped snout in place of a human nose, a wider mouth with jagged teeth. Slitted eyes, and a black tipped fin atop his head that reminded Simon of a mohawk. Webbed gray and white hands with black claws rubbed up and down it's own arms in a self soothing gesture. One forearm had an odd angle to it, probably the injury that landed him here.
He retreated from the tank quietly before speaking, interrupting the squabbling of the other men. "He looks like a reef shark to me." Everyone else jumped. "Blacktip reef sharks aren't aggressive. Sure they can get a little iffy during feeding, but they're more curious than anything."
"He's been charging the glass, Ghost." Simon managed to suppress his eye roll at Shepherd's nickname for him. They all called him that here. "Fuck you mean 'not aggressive', you don't know mers."
"No, but I know sharks. He's injured, and defensive. You ever think he doesn't like us because it was something shaped like us that broke his arm?" John winced, he obviously felt bad about it. Not like he could've know he'd caught the mer in his net, but it was nice to see some accountability from a fisherman for once.
"Well we can't communicate with him, so he'll stay scared and defensive." If Simon didn't love the sharks, he would've left this place a long time ago because Shepherd was an absolutely abrasive cunt.
"Kate and Rosa can. And their English is excellent." Kyle spoke up again. "We have them pass on the message of our intentions, and Ghost and I tag team his rehabilitation." Of course he uses the dumb nickname too. "It's the perfect plan! And an incredible opportunity to be one of two aquariums to actually work with a shark mer. The novelty of something so rare will bring in patrons." Kyle was really leaning into Shepherd's true interests here, bringing up money.
Shepherd was quiet for a moment and then, "If anything happens, you're both fired." He then stormed out of the room.
"Thanks, Gaz."
"Of course, Cap."
Now the three of them had to get the shark mer into an appropriate tank.
***
They had initially tried to put him in with the other mers, but he'd seen the sharks in the tank across the hall and told Kate he wanted to be with his own kind. That would make Simon's job easier, anyway. Kate had explained that they needed to put a cast on his arm, and Rosa had wrestled it onto him, since the humans couldn't get too close. They decided to name him John, after Captain Price, calling him Johnny affectionately. Gaz explained to Ghost that part of rehabbing Johnny would be gaining his trust, teach him to communicate. To release him without a way to communicate could lead to him attacking humans and being a problem down the road.
Simon had a plan: ignore him. He was a reef shark, his own curiosity would get him to open up. It took a week.
Simon would feed his sharks from a catwalk above their tank, for safety reasons, dropping their food in in the mornings before they opened their doors. No need to scare any children. For the first week, any time he passed by, Johnny would posture aggressively and gnash his teeth, before snatching up his food and swimming off. When Ghost would gear up and go in the water for his evening shows, Johnny stayed far away. At night, Gaz and his mers would move over and Ghost would mostly just observe as the girls tried to teach Johnny how to speak, and he petulantly ignored them, with a little pout on his face as he refused to even make eye contact with them. It was cute.
The first time he tried to speak was also the first time Simon saw him raise his head above the surface. He seemed frantic. "HAAAH!" He startled a bit at what was most likely the first time he ever used his lungs to breath air. "HAAAAH! AH! YAAH!" he was waving with his good arm. Stretching it out towards the platform between his tank and that of the other mers, thrashing his tail with his fins tucked in. Very distressed. Simon went to check, to see what could possibly be bothering him so much, when he found their elusive fourth mer. Simon had only seen Gary once. Gaz called him Roach, because he hid in the tiniest cracks in the reef in their enclosure, why on earth the isopod mer was on the platform, and not in the water, was beyond him, but he couldn't let the poor thing suffer. He had several of his little legs caught in a grate. Simon spent some time disentangle him. He tossed the infant sized mer into the nearest tank, which happened to be the shark tank, with Johnny. The larger mer immediately dove to catch him. He stroked Roach's antennae back like one would the hair of a small child, a soothing motion. Clearly not as much of a loner as he pretended to be. From then on the little isopod mer could be found clinging to Johnny's sides or fins with his many little periopods more often than not. After that, it seemed that Gary encouraged Johnny's more curious side. The mer's language was mostly outside of the human range of hearing, but Simon occasionally caught clicks, whistles or hums shared between the two.
Simon had left a bucket with soap close to the edge once, the two mers were clearly curious about it, but he didn't think anything would come of it. Which is why it was such a surprise when Johnny stuck a webbed hand in and scooped some out, popping it immediately into his mouth. Simon knew it wasn't enough to harm him, which is why he couldn't help but laugh at the poor creatures misfortune as it sputtered and writhed, making bubbles. While laughing he let his guard down, and was surprised when something struck him, knocking him off the catwalk and into the tank. He opened his eyes and looked around, seeing only Roach, floating downward, listing side to side, tiny head in his tiny hands. He surfaced to see Johnny. "Did you just throw him at me?!" Johnny sunk down so only his eyes and cranial fin were above the water. The little shit. "Not cool, Soap!" He forced his palm out towards the mer, sending a spray of water its way. That seemed to really break down the mer's walls.
Johnny started approaching while Simon would try and clean the tank. At first, darting away if Simon caught sight of him. Eventually however, he would get closer and simply observe. He'd watch Simon work at cleaning the glass or vacuuming the sand at the bottom. It was fun to see shark behavior and mer behavior collide. If Simon sat something down, Johnny would pick it up, and without a doubt if he could get it in his hands, it would end up in his mouth.
There was a small crowd, a child's birthday party had been held over by Gaz's mer tank, the girls were always a hit with the kids, and the little show they put on with Gaz was actually pretty funny. They'd harass him as he pretended to try and do his chores. Slapstick comedy was good for all ages.
Simon had his own show with his sharks, but it wasn't for a few more hours. He was actually just trying to clean. Apparently his cleaning sponge had caught Johnny's attention, as the mer had swam up and was watching him intently. He kept inching forward, eventually crowding Simon against the glass while reaching for his sponge. "Oi!" He said into his respirator, not that anyone could hear him. He shoved Johnny away and kept trying to cleaning, but the persistent bastard just kept coming back. He could vaguely see the crowd observing them through the glass. They were probably laughing. When he'd had enough, he got an idea. He turned when Johnny got close again and placed one hand on his dorsal fin and the other on the underside of his snout. He began to rub at the sensitive underside of the mer's snout, and just like his sharks, the mer entered a state of tonic immobility. He repositioned Johnny, nose down tail to the surface, Johnny's arms hung limply down past his head. Simon quickly withdrew his hands and watched as the mer continued to float for a bit, before blinking vigorously. He shook his head before righting himself, and slapped his tail into Simon's chest as he practically fled to his little cave at the other end of the tank. When he surfaced later, Gaz informed him that the kids were raving about how cool the 'shark guys' were.
Simon had to admit that Johnny was growing on him. He looked forward to seeing him each day. Johnny began trying to get Simon to swim with him. He'd grab Simon's arms and try to pull him into the water when he was on land, or he'd push Simon away from the glass and his cleaning supplies, towards the open water. Sometimes Simon would indulge him, and the two of them would make laps around the tank.
Simon realized, when Johnny began posturing towards the sharks and getting territorial about him towards them, that Johnny was attempting to court him. Worse, he couldn't bring himself to try and put an end to the behavior either. Johnny was getting touchy, he'd run his hands along Simon's sides or chest, in much the same way Simon would to per his sharks, but it felt different. He would push Simon until he floated horizontally in the water, then drape himself across the man.
Simon knew he was getting himself into some deep shit, but he couldn't help the small voice in the back of his head that urged him to reach out, to cradle the mer's rubbery cheeks in his hands. He wanted to kiss him. He was fucked.
***
I hope you liked it! Ngl, I really liked this one. If you don't mind, I might expand on this and make it a multi-chapter fic over on AO3? I wanna explore more of society's reaction to mers, specifically interspersed relationships and where this could go. Let me know what you think, and thanks for the idea!

MANAGER ꒰VEES 𝘅 gn! 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳꒱ PART 1: Velvette's Favoritism
𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 ;; Platonic. In which you're the Vees/VVV's very valued manager, a collection. 𝘼/𝙉 ;; I just love their dynamic smm oml. I can't stop myself. Will write SO MUCH more and add onto this collection!!
Tumblr media
☆ You applied on a whim, applying for Velvette's social media team, and unexpectedly landed the job. A job you were probably the least qualified for compared to the other applications ☆ And you weren't the only member of Velvette's team of course, there were several others, but as weeks went by, many were fired for either pissing off Velvette or just not living up to her expectations ☆ You kept your job as you never talked back or shit-talked her, doing your workload and pleasing the young overlord ☆ Velvette continued to fire employees overtime, narrowing her attention onto you, one of her now-experienced employees ☆ She came to you more and yet you never scrambled under all the pressure; you remained calm and did your job ☆ Even jobs you never signed up for, like getting her coffee and such. (Those were her assistant's tasks) ☆ Or bat-shit crazy tasks, again, never complaining and just holding back your disgusted expressions ☆ You never noticed, but many other employees began to dislike your presence ☆ Velvette favored you too much now ☆ She began calling you by name and addressing you properly, compared to everyone else, this was a new level ☆ Her other employees were just "somebody", but you were "[name]" ★ "Bloody hell! Somebody get [name] right now!" ☆ Being Velvette's favorite did come with perks and pet names, she called you "darling" more often than anyone else, and treated you with more care than others ★ "Oh lovely, you did just what I asked. Now go rest, kisses darling." ☆ All the attention increased ten fold after her assistant was fired for sleeping with one of Velvette's best selling models, somehow getting an STD and giving Velvette a PR nightmare ☆ You were immediately promoted as her assistant ☆ But becoming her assistant just made your work load much heavier, now you're covering everything she needed you to ☆ Assisting several departments, handling scheduling and shoots of everyone (from the models to Velvette's), guiding the current media staff, and so much more ☆ You followed her like a shadow, you noted everything she said while simultaneously doing every other task that had to be done ☆ Because you did a huge bundle of work and held a great matter of importance, Velvette gave you her phone number as well as access to higher floors of the Vee tower, something extremely personal ☆ But one day you overheard an exchange between Velvette and Valentino, one you realized you shouldn't be listening to, after only trying to speak with your boss about a drop in views
★ "Don't look at [name], Valentino! Don't even think about it." ✦ "What? I didn't do anything yet." ★ "I know what you're thinking, [name] will not become one of your porn stars." ✦ "Shame, they have the body and face for it." ★ "Do not fuck with me. They're one of the only employees I give any shits about." ✦ "Okay, okay amorcito, I understand." ☆ Velvette openly expressed her favoritism with the other Vee, given that they were close ☆ And Valentino was quick to surrender his plan on recruiting you, seeing as Velvette genuinely liked you (more than her favorite models that he ripped up the week prior) ☆ You weren't really sure how to react to that and you never did, pretending you never heard a peep ☆ So you left before you heard any more, not wanting to hear what other unexpected topics would be brought up ☆ Velvette has since never been seen without you ☆ She spoke to you about whatever was on her mind, no longer just asking for something to be done ☆ She would order you to sit with her on some couch and just talk ☆ You felt as though you got indirectly promoted to Velvette's personal therapist ★ "Ugh, and I can't believe that bitch has the nerve to insult my outfit when she's wearing fucking plaid!" ☆ Velvette also wore plaid. ☆ But her defense was: she wasn't dressing like an "old hag", so she could actually pull it off ☆ You sat and listened for endless hours, never taking your eyes off her
☆ Velvette highly appreciated this since Vox and Valentino both had their own jobs they were busy with ★ "But at least you listen to me, don't you [name]?" ☆ You only nodded in agreement, reassuring her

"Mmh... are... you sleeping ?" A very confused voice asked
"Nnh ?!" You shot up on your bed, feeling the blanket shuffle down on your legs. You tried to open your eyes in a panic before hissing when sunlight punched your irises. The curtains. You forgot the damn curtains.
"You guys gotta stop doing that... I have a door, you know." You rubbed your eyes.
It was Mihael. How nice of her to wait over night to scold you for your behaviour. You weren't naive; you knew Adriel would go complain to his friend. But you were smart enough to know she wouldn't say anything about it. It's been centuries since she learned you could actually feel. Yet she never said a word about it to Chamuel or Jophiel. You did not fully trust her, but she was okay.
"What is it like to sleep ?" Mihael was always curious, but she lacked the bravery to try. Whether it was food, walking, sex, or, in that case, sleep, to satisfy her hunger for knowledge and experimentation, she came to you.
"Mmh, peaceful.. I guess-" You looked down at your chest and decided you had enough that people kept catching you half naked. So you snatched up your tank top and got up.
"Just peaceful ? That's it ?" She jumped on through the window on your bed, shoes on. Ugh.
"Yeah, yeah, and... energised too. Listen, Mihael, why don't you tell me what you want ?"
Yes, you were a bit rude, but you just didn't have time; you needed to get to Aziraphale to discuss where the boy might be. And if you wonder, you never went to Crowley's flat. Risking being caught by unexpected visitors was enough of a reason to not visit.
"Right, right ! So..." She looked down, gloomy. "It's time, Y/N; we're going to unfold the Bound soon." She confessed with a sad smile.
You shuddered. Fuck. You forgot about that.
"You know, the four horsmen are being summoned, and we need to lay off the Love so War can fully step in."
"Yeah, I can't come into my full power..."
"Really ? Me too !" She chirped, delighted that you shared her point of view. You scoffed but smiled anyway. It's really a shame she'll never get to experience human life.
"So, now we must turn off the flow of love and go back to heaven to prepare for war."
You ruffled your hair and grabbed a drink of water. Mihael's piercing eyes were etched on the glass, and you handed it to her with a sigh. She looked so happy, you almost wanted to laugh. How selfless of you...
She didn't quite know how to drink, however, but you decided to let her test the water, so to speak. Mihael coughed a bit.
"Does that mean hate demons will rise too ?" You interrogated, your tone genuinely dull.
"Oh, they better not ! They'll have to wait for the battle to start, those worthless rascals..."
The cupid suddenly gasped and looked at you with guilt. You know she didn't mean to insult him. Your lip twitched, but you sent her a reassuring smile. Still, she couldn't shake the regret out of her scent.
"You know, maybe he didn't turn into a hate demon..." Her sweet voice faltered as she went on.
"It's fine, Mihael. You should go; I'm sure Adriel is waiting for you." You cajoled her while leading her to the door. Yes, you have a door.
"About that..." She stopped and turned around. Her dark pink eyes just scanned yours to convey what she meant. Not that she had to; you could smell the snowy nights from miles away. "Just be careful, Y/N."
Her advice kind of fell on deaf ears. You were always cautious, but you didn't live in fear of what they'd do to you if they found out you were out of line. Yet, they dread the simple thought of what you could be. You sloped against your wooden door. What a good way to start the day...
Calling off all Love so War can enter the picture. It just felt so contradictory. You were a being of love and peace; how could you be excited to see humans kill each other and fight in a war, possibly going against Crowley or... well, you knew who. You will not let this world be torn to smithereens. It's your safe place, your heaven. Your home.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
You strolled through the busy London streets, eager to get to Aziraphale as quickly as possible. A few people bumped your shoulders, stomped on your toes, and cursed at you. The withdrawal of love was already happening. Unsettled in an unwelcoming environment made you skittish, and you picked up the speed.
As you reached the bookshop, you stopped to analyse its not-so-familiar presence. The energy was angelic, yes, but it was so powerful...
Shit.
Archangels. And they were just leaving.
"Whoop- !" You activated your spell hastily. The chime rang, and the two entities simply walked off.
"No war, without war. Ah ! That's quite the line !" Grabriel almost yodeled. Right. You stayed there with heavy breathing.
Subconsciously, you called off the spell. Or maybe you didn't cast it in the first place. In any case, you didn't expect to feel the pressure of someone's hand on your shoulder.
"AH !"
Adding to the fact that your heart was about to explode just a second ago' the speed of your twirl did nothing to help you stay steady on your feet. Luckily for you, Aziraphale was alert enough to come to your rescue. He pressed his hand against your scapula and held you against his torso. You felt the side of your mouth twitch.
"I'm sorry, dear. I didn't realise how nervous you were." He jived, his cheekbones showing. But the smell of grapefruit told you you were not the only one nervous here.
"What did they want ?" You asked, feeling the ground with your own two feet again.
"Oh, they were just checking the status of the Antichrist." He opened the door for you and followed your lead.
"Why ? Did they suspect anything ?"
"Surprisingly, no. Not a thing." He shrugged in disbelief. You liked the scent of disbelief m: custard. Yes, just custard. Kinda hard to believe, heh ?
"Mh, Crowley's right... Heaven's not very bright, heh ?" You snickered. You sat on the couch and happily watched him chuckle.
"It seems so. It kind of makes me wonder if we are too." He took his place next to you.
"Oh no, we're bright." You started, glancing at him while pretending to reflect. "But we're also walking disasters.." You snorted.
"We can say the same about Crowley, then." He laughed and slid his right leg underneath his left thigh. You giggled and took a big breath of the new smell. Ah, freesia and blueberry pie; there's nothing better.
"Absolutely." You leaned back on the seat, literally comforted by the scent. "I just don't understand... What happened during the baby swap ?"
A few minutes pass. Minutes later, you just stared at each other. Before finally realising what might be the source of the problem.
"I think... I'm going to call Crowley reel quick-"
The ringtone of the bookshop's phone rang, interrupting you. Aziraphale quickly got up, with the help of his hand on your knee.
"Maybe it's him." He muttered while picking it up. "Hello, Fell's Bookshop, what can I do for you ?"
You waited for him. For a few seconds. Then you got bored. You left Eden at home, so you didn't have any company. So you decided to roam around the library.
"The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter ?"
The sculpture of a prancing horse proudly sat on a small table. You always had a lot of fun drawing the details with your fingers since the day he created his bookshop, which was also the first day you ate chocolate, if you remember correctly. You blew away the little dust that settled on his back, and flew right at you, making you cough.
"But there are..." He stopped to see what you were doing. You smiled, charming him up. His nose simply twitched before resuming. "There are no copies of her book available."
You stepped away from the horse and instead looked through Aziraphale's prophecy books. It has always amused me how humans try so helplessly to predict what the future holds. You were no stranger to the thought; you had your fair share of doubts about your own future. However, you learned what happens when you ask too many questions.
"I don't have it. Nobody has-" The sudden silence pushed you to study the angel's face. Apparently, the correspondent wasn't the most polite boy. His mouth was set in a hard line, and he stuck his nose in the air. He was so outraged that he reeked of watermelon and curry. You would agree that it's not a nice combination. Also, you hadn't noticed, but his glasses were quite fancy on him. You shook the thought away.
"Well, there really is no need for that kind of language." He hung up and put down his glasses. You couldn't help but stare for a moment. His bright, white hair caught the sun in its lock, giving him a glow to his already stunning face. Oh, stop already, will you ?
When you finally gawked back at the shelves, a huge brown spider welcomed you.
"Fuck- !" You yelled and fell back down with a loud thud, knocking a few books on your way. Azirphale gasped and sprinted by your side.
"Are you okay ?" He was very anxious. You were just embarrassed out of your mind.
"I'm fine... Let's just call Crowley already."
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
"Hey, this is Anthony Crowley. You know what to do. Do it with style."
No, it wasn't the demon answering machine. It was just you mocking him. Which he didn't seem to enjoy.
"Haha, keep laughing, and I'll bring back the spider to your face." He growled. "Why are you afraid of spiders anyway? Aren't you supposed to love all animals?"
Aziraphale was such a snitch ! Right after he got Crowley on the phone, he told him about your fall. You very distinctly heard his laugh after that.
"Stop your bickering, you two! And watch the road." He sighed, not comfortable at all. He didn't like speed that much. Nonetheless, for his best, Crowley should be the one to drive. You might give him a heart attack if you were the one behind the wheel.
"You've lost the boy."
"We've lost him." He corrected.
"A child has been lost. But you still know his age." He started to point.
"We know." He once again corrected
"We get it: you don't want to be the only one responsible." You rolled your eyes. Congratulations! You earned yourself a growl.
"We know his birthday. He's 11." Aziraphale was trying his best to keep your attention.
"You make it sound easy."
"Well, it can't be that hard..."
"At least it reduces the search area." You flapped your hand. You were still frustrated, and you felt his discouragement slowly becoming yours. Your heart filter wasn't doing very well. We only have to find his birth record."
"And then what ?"
"Well, then we find the child." Azirphale smiled. At least you could feel his hope too.
"And then what ?"
Aziraphale didn't know what to say. He simply stared at Crowley. Until a car honk cut short his attempt to find a solution.
"Watch out for that pedestrian !" The angel bawled with alacrity.
"Woah- !" You shouted. The movement had you flying on the left side of the back seat. You've never so close to the goddamn door.
"She's on the street; she knows the risk she's taking." He dissmissed. "And I'm sure it would help you two stop breathing down my neck."
You scoffed.
Oh, I'll give you 'breathing down your neck.
You scooted over to the right seat and leaned behind Crowley. Your mouth grazed his ear, and you felt the tiniest tilt of his head, like he forced himself not to move. So prideful, you joked to yourself.
"Just watch the road." You breathed down his neck. You grinned as you watched gooey bumps form on his skin. He really hated it. You laughed and pulled back. You patted his shoulders and repeated yourself. "Watch the road."
Your laughter died out as you saw Aziraphale gulp. You took back your place in the middle, almost guilty.
"Sorry, I forgot about personal space again."
Crowley's sunglasses blocked your view of his eyes; you couldn't tell if you had overstepped. We can all thank Aziraphale for his help in easing the tension.
Where is this hospital, anyway? He asked. He rubbed his sweaty palm on his trousers in an attempt to calm his nerves. Crowley coughed.
"Mh, a village near Oxford: Tadfield. His neck was still tensed. You really strung a string, huh?
"Crowley, you can't do 90 miles per hour in central London !"
"Why not ?"
"You'll get us killed! Well, inconveniently disincorporated. He granted.
"Oh God, no, not the paperwork..." You got disincorporated once, and it took you two years to finally get a new one. Still, you're sure it had been improperly delayed.
"Music ! Why don't I put on a little music...?" He hummed quizzically and looked over at you. "Do you know the Velvet Underground?"
"You wouldn't like it." Crowley interjected.
"Well, it kind of feels like you've been high the whole time."
"Oh, bepop!" He recognised you. You eyed him in disbelief before nodding.
"... Right-"
"Yah !" Aziraphale yelped. Crowley did a swerve to the right, flying you away in that direction.
"Brute !"
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The air was stuffy. Like on a deeply hot day. It was overwhelming, too. As you left the car, you scanned around you, discretely sniffing the wind. It was not held in a constant flow of emotion; it permeated the air. But it felt good. It wasn't threatening in its presence; it just existed and belonged.
"Y/N ?" Crowley called out, standing in front of the manor gates next to Aziraphale. You studied the ark, made of bricks and white stone. The whole building was surrounded by metal fences, where you could at least see the central courtyard. Which seemed cluttered with a bunch of stuff.
"You're sure this is the right place? You wondered, doubtful.
You went to them, attempting to filter that particular emotion.
"It doesn't really look like a hospital." Aziraphale agreed with you when you got to their level.
But then it hit you. You gasped, like you'd been punched in the stomach. You grabbed the angel's arm to not collapse. That was so strong. You haven't felt such things in a long, long time.
"What is it ?" Crowley asked. You chuckled.
"It feels so loved." You gazed up. Aziraphale straightened your arm while he searched for it too. You pressed your hand to your chest. Your heart filter was giving you trouble, yes, but you sure as hell wouldn't complain about it.
"No, it's definitely the place. Crowley spoke, his tone faint.
"They're right..." He smiled at you, thrilled by the fulfilling sensation of love.
"Uh-hu... Sure, can we go see the nuns now ?" He led the way.
You scoffed. "Grumpy pants..." You followed in second.
Despite that, you looked at Aziraphale and giggled. You were glad to finally be able to share your joy without risking destruction for it. Immediately after, you three got shot by something.
"Argh !" For once, the three of you simultaneously exclaimed.
Crowley got hit inside his vest, right above the heart. In your case, the sharp pain was localised to your right hip. As for Aziraphale, the "bullet" struck his calf, making him hop on one foot for a second.
"What..."
You touched where the impact occurred and saw it was just... paint ?
"Blue ?" Aziraphale asked, ever-so-confused.
"Heh, yellow." You snorted. Oh, you've got red. You noticed Crowley's chest was covered with red paint. "One more, and we're Power Rangers.."
"Hey !" A nasal voice hollered. Crowley took one step forward in front of you and Aziraphale. The man in army clothing scoffed. What... are they doing out there? You saw the angel shuffle to see the state of his pants. "You've all been hit! I don't know what you think you're playing at-"
Crowley abruptly roared as his demon self and the whiny player fainted. "Well, that was fun." He smirked.
"Well, yes, fun for you. Look at the state of those trousers !" Aziraphale pivoted his leg for you to see. "I've kept them in tip-top condition for over 180 years now." Crowley started to circle around the both of you. "Oh, I'll never get this stain out."
"You could just miracle it away." You shuddered, saddened by his concern.
"Mmh, yes, but... Well, I would always know the stain was there." He explained, his tone brittle. You pouted with a smile. Ah, such pleading eyes ! How could you say no ? You twirled your wrist around, waving the paint away.
"Oh, thank you." You smiled and enjoyed the whiff of old books. The smell of thankfulness, if you wondered. You spotted the strange gun on the ground and picked it up.
"What a weird piece of hardware..." You enjoyed the design of it, actually. Might copy it, too. Replace the paintball stocking compartment with a crossbow flight groove and riser...
"Expert in the field ?" Crowley snorted before taking the gun away. "Don't your lot disapprove of guns ?" He asked and pretended to aim your way.
"Unless they're in the right hands," Aziraphale said, confiscating the weapon. "Then they give weight to a moral argument." His explanation seemed to amuse the demon, who had a big grin plastered on his face.
"A moral argument ? Really ?" He bugged the two of you. You were just thankful. Aziraphale took the subject into his own hands and just shrugged. He laughed a bit before walking towards the building.
"Come on."
Inside, a few posters and a board were displayed that showed the rules of "the paintball game". The reception seemed to also stock a few guns and helmets. Soon, they won't have to just play war... You heard the commotion through the window, plus a kindhearted "Fuck off" too.
"Charming..." Aziraphale mumbled to your right.
"Wonder where the nuns went ?" Crowley took a brochure from the little table on your left and inspected it.
"Any information about the former satanic maternity in that little paper of yours?" You teased. The demon forced a laugh before throwing the brochure away.
On your way, you encountered a young woman running your way.
"Oh, Millie from Accounts caught me on the elbow." She groaned. You ended up stopping diagonally. The angel bent slightly in front of her to check for a possible wound at her elbow. "Who's winning?"
"You're all going to lose." Crowley announced, since he was closer to her. He snapped his fingers, obviously operating a miracle. In an instant, the splashy sound of the bullets started to sound more like a machine gun than a fairly hurtful but still non-lethal weapon. The woman ran off.
"Huh..."
What the hell did you just do? Aziraphale snapped with frantic movements.
"Well, they wanted real guns, so I gave them what they wanted, he mused, visibly proud of himself. You followed right behind him. You couldn't help your incredulity and stared at him, mouth agape.
Once you got to a window, you and Aziraphale pressed against the window and saw barrels exploding, sparks, and dust everywhere.
"Crowley !" You stressed, running up to him.
"There are people out there shooting at each other. "The guardian lamented by your side.
"Well, it lends weight to their moral argument." He kicked a door, shattering glass in the process. Aziraphale joined his hands and fidgeted with his fingers.
"Everyone has free will, including the right to murder. Just think of it as a microcosm of the universe."
"Oh, don't try to lecture us, buddy !
"They're murdering each other." Aziraphale stood before Crowley, stopping him in his tracks. You joined him.
You saw Crowley roll his eyes, despite his glasses. "No, they aren't. No one's killing anyone; they're all having miraculous escapes. It wouldn't be any fun otherwise. He explained it before our pleading eyes.
You scoffed. You shared a knowing smile with Aziraphale. Sometimes, you forget that Crowley is actually a good person and are worried that he might harm humans. But he never did. Deep down, he really loved humankind. In a teasing mood, the two of you started to walk away in front of Crowley, discussing his case.
"Aah, what a softie." It was a real claim. One thing that the demon didn't particularly appreciate was that you felt him boil in your back. Aziraphale nodded.
"Of course. I've always said that, deep down, he really is a nice guy. He began, but gasped instead.
Well, both of you did.
Crowley had suddenly roared and seized you by your collars. He roughly pulled back, colliding both of your bodies against his. You stumbled back; your head clued his upper chest. You grabbed on to his waist to not fall. Aziraphale had landed a bit higher, at neck level, and was able to meet his gaze. He also stood approximately straight, while you were quite curled up against Crowley.
"Shut it ! I'm a demon; I'm not nice! You felt his voice rumble in his chest. You gulped. You weren't scared by any means, just... mh, troubled? "I'm never 'nice'. Nice is a four-letter word. I will not have-"
"Excuse me, gentlemen ?"
The pair both turned their heads towards the professional voice. All you could do was try to nuzzle your way up Crowley's arm to peek over the black vest.
"Sorry to break up an intimate moment. Can I help you? She slowed down, and Crowley had time to recognise her. You gazed up at him but couldn't quite make out his expression. Nor his smell.
"You." His grip loosened. You helped yourself back up with the help of your stretched-out arm. You saw Aziraphale analyse Crowley's expression.
"Saints and demons preserve us; it's Master Crowley-" The woman with short hair stepped back. She didn't have time to flee, however, as the demon snapped her in place.
"You didn't have to do that; you could have just asked her. Aziraphale scolded him while fixing his suit. Crowley opened his mouth wide and made an offended sound. Alright, let's not discuss what just happened, then... You felt the angel's hand dust your shoulder swiftly.
"Of course, of course ! No. Yeah. 'Excuse me, ma'am, we're three supernatural entities just looking for the notorious Son of Satan. I wonder if you might help us with our inquiries." He spat and flashed his teeth in a scornful manner.
"Of course, of course ! No. Yeah. 'Excuse me, ma'am, we're three supernatural entities just looking for the notorious Son of Satan. Wonder if you might help us with our inquiries ?'" He spat and flashed his teeth in a scornful manner. You shot him a disapproving look but didn't say anything.
You walked up to her and let Aziraphale do the questioning.
"Mh..." He coughed, unsure. "Look... hello." His smile was always so sweet. You breathed a laugh and shook your head at your proximity. "You weren't, by any chance, a nun here at this convent 11 years ago, were you ?"
"I was." She acquiesced, completely transfixed.
"Mmh, luck of the devil." Eyebrow raised, you looked at Aziraphale, who had quite the cocky little smile on his face. You glanced at Crowley and held yourself back from snorting at the sight of your shared experience.
"What happened to the baby that was given to you ?" You asked.
"I swapped him with the son of the American ambassador. Such a nice man." You caught the smell of sun-soaked sand. You couldn't help but smile when you felt how fond she was of the memory. "He used to be the ambassador of Swindon." She added.
Honestly, you were relieved you found as much confusion on their faces as you felt. Crowley shrugged and shook his head, showing that he had no clue what the fuck she was talking about.
"Then Sister Theresa Garrulous came and took the other baby away."
"This American ambassador—what was his name ? Where did he come from ? And what did he do with the baby ?" The demon snarled, his red hair flying everywhere.
"I don't know."
"Records." Aziraphale insisted. "There must have been records." He gestured for her to continue.
"Yes. There were lots of records. We were very good at keeping records."
"Good; so where can we find them?" You questioned.
"They were unfortunately burned in the fire."
Crowley groaned and threw it back in pure annoyance. "Hastur !"
Aziraphale queried again.
"Is there anything you remember about the baby?"
"He had lovely little toesies-woesies." Her response brought a smile to your face, matching Aziraphale's. Crowley obviously had enough and took off.
"Let's go."
"You will wake, having had a lovely dream about whatever you like best. He miracled. You added a good memory orb discreetly for good measure.
"Oi." Crowley called.
As you approached outside, the sirens overtook all sound, and you saw dozens of policemen evacuating the players and taking their rigged weapons.
"You'd think he'd show up, wouldn't you ? You'd think we could detect him in some way." Aziraphale notified. He waved away a bit of smoke.
"He won't show up. Not to us. Protective camouflage." Crowley reached behind your back and pulled on Aziraphale's arm firmly, dragging you along. A bullet zoomed to your right.
"He won't even know it, but his powers will keep him hidden from prying occult forces."
You were nearing the exit, and the air felt heavy in your lungs. The stress you felt was really increasing as the trail of the investigation plummeted. Plus, the fact that love was slowly disappearing was freaking you out of your mind. You felt a constant pull trying to get you back to heaven, where all the love was stored away. Everything was just too nerve-wrecking for your dysfunctional little heart.
"Occult forces ?" You heard Aziraphale's question.
"Well, you know, us."
You watched the angel's features contort into perplexity.
"We're not occult." Crowley sighed at his objection. "Angels aren't occultists; we're ethereal."
You didn't know what it was. Maybe it was the pressure of it all, or just the fact that Aziraphale still at to make such shallow precision, but you giggled quietly at first. The more it grew, the more it alerted the two entities. It was apparently communicative since they also started laughing softly. You continued to joke on your way to the car. You took you regular seat back, and smiled foundly as the two in the front.
Yeah, Armaggedon was bad. But at least you didn't have to face it on your own.

Reminder: needles *are* dangerous
Seeing a lot of needle and heart shocking content coming up again and I wanna speak on dark cardiophilia briefly.
I love dark cardio stuff. I've made no mystery of that. I'm not here to yell or shame folks for engaging in it; I do myself, up to limits I'm comfortable with. But anyone doing it, from mild breath play through sticking needles into your heart and shocking it, needs to remember that dark play is dangerous and can have serious consequences. It's not that people do it, but that people new to it may be naive and putting their hearts at serious risk without realizing. Back when I was a teenager someone put out excellent videos of what turned out to be fake heart shocking and I nearly electrocuted myself trying to recreate it, not knowing it was fake and with no idea that what I was trying would have literally cooked me. (I was trying to use an outlet. Yikes.)
Per needles in particular, here are a few big risks. An unsanitary needle can cause an infection. An overly thick needle can cause structural damage to the heart. But even if you're using a clean, thin needle, if you get it in the wrong place you can damage valves. I have seen this happen to folks.
The biggest risk though is inserting a needle into an artery on the outside of the heart and causing bleeding into the pericardium. This is a medical emergency that can only be treated with urgent open heart surgery. You have hours to minutes to get into the operating room if this happens or you will die. Folks *have died* at least twice that I know of.
This lives in tension with the fact that you actually aren't likely to hit an artery. They're small. However you can't be totally sure where they are either; the location of the heart in the chest is slightly different in everyone. It's like that game minesweeper, there aren't many mines but if you hit one it's game over. Again, a lot of people have done this tons of time and are perfectly fine.
With electricity, there's a similar level of risk for a different issue. This time it's instigating dangerous rhythms by shocking the heart in particular vulnerable windows. These windows are small, so again, plenty of people do this without issue. I know a guy who would go for a hard run, then stick needles into his heart and shock it. He did it for like a decade and then one time he got unlucky and went into a vfib arrest which he luckily recovered from pretty rapidly. I know another guy who arrested his heart at least 3 times, who has since removed his content and gone quiet, leaving me to wonder if he went too far.
To be clear I am NOT scolding anyone. If you know these risks and are willing to take them, I'm not going to lie, I like the content and want to see it. But I don't want anyone making uninformed decisions about the danger. You should certainly not try it just for attention. If it brings you joy, dark and twisted as that may be, and you know and accept the risk, it's your body. Just know what you're getting yourself into.

This is my first time requesting for a Kdrama character. So I want some Lee rang x human reader in the modern time from 1st season. Where reader is a highschool or a uni student. Shes a bit introverted but she can be quite fun too.So how'd they meet and all?
UNDERSTAND - LEE RANG
Ofc! That'd be great! It's like 1 am in the morning right now but I stayed awake hoping someone would request a fic-🤧
Okay so my creative juices are working really good right now! So let's get started!
Thank you for Requesting (´∀`)♡
Genre: Fluff, romance, strangers to friends to lovers trope, fantasy au, humor.
Pairings: Lee Rang x Human!reader (named)
Warnings: Swearing, violence, mentions of death, blood and Rang just being a misunderstood half demon who just wants to be loved.
Tumblr media
Crap.
That's what you felt like as a second year uni student trying to survive the harsh summer heat with two assignments due in two days and continuous tests for the next 4 days. On top of that you were two months behind on paying your rent and one last warning away before you're eventually kicked out of your apartment. But what did you expect?
As an orphan who had no financial or emotional support, you had to support yourself but even after working three jobs a day it still barely covered your tuition fees for a year. Life was hard but you didn't have a choice. These days people looked for employees with excellent social skills and unfortunately being an introvert, speaking and conversing with clients was not your forte.
Which brings us to your second job of the day at a skincare boutique.
Noeul's
"Thank you for you're purchase ma'am, please come again." I said politely as my customer left, smile falling to a frown almost immediately.
"No amount of skincare products will fix that prideful ugly hag's face." I muttered under my breath as I took a deep breath in and looked at my reflection in the mirror.
"Gosh my face looks so tired and exhausted...don't tell me I've been tending to customers like this..." I mumbled as I took a break to freshen myself up.
As I fixed my makeup in the wash room I couldn't help but eavesdrop at my colleagues conversation.
"I heard that your boyfriend proposed!"
"Yes, he did! See!" she exclaimed flaunting her engagement ring.
I let out a sigh internally as their voices started fading away and my thoughts took my attention.
Everyone I know have their lives all figured out and here I am a broke uni student who could get evicted by next week.
I sighed as I felt my emotions skyrocket through the roof and finally crack as I felt my tears pour out after keeping everything bottled up inside me for a month. Fortunately there was no one in the wash room at that moment but I was sure that my colleagues were out gosipping about my melt down. But nonetheless I cried my heart out and by the time I came out my shift had already ended so I went towards the changing room to get out of my uncomfortable uniform.
As I made my way towards the changing room I couldn't help but stop and look at the commotion that was happening in the perfume aisle. I came infront to see a man in a red suit holding another man up in the air with his hands wrapped around his neck as the victim suffocated.
"Aish, people can't mind their own business these days can they?" he said as his eyes connected with mine and he scanned me from top to bottom.
"You work here?" he asked me as I nodded and he threw two perfume bottles towards me. Luckily I caught it and cleared my throat.
"Should I pack it for you, sir?" I asked as he nodded.
"Pack them separately while you're at it yeah?" he asked as I nodded and bowed lightly.
After I was done packing the perfumes he payed for it and took the bags but instead of leaving he leaned at the counter and brought his lips to my ears making me flustered as his warm breath fanned my skin.
"Switch the power off and get under the table when I tell you to...alright? Cause it'd be a shame if you die." he whispered, catching me off guard as I nodded.
He then turned towards the entrance door and locked it, turning around with a menacing smirk as he closed the blinds and put the perfumes in a corner.
"On the count of three." he said and looked at me with a smirk as I grazed my fingers over the switch.
"Three" he said and walked towards the sample section.
"Two....one." he said and I switched off the power and quickly got under the table. And just as I did a string of gunshots and screams began, all I could hear other than those noises were the sounds of furniture breaking and bodies being thrown around. Out of fear I covered my ears and screamed as a body suddenly collided to the table next to the one I was taking shelter in.
"There you are, come on." the man from before said and propped me up on my feet almost immediately and pulled me out of the store with the perfume in his hand.
"W-What are you?" I asked after I saw many bodies splayed across the destroyed boutique.
"Your knight in shining armour." he said and turned to look at me with a smirk as I gasped at the sight of his golden eye.
"W-Wait-" he cut me off my pulling me into an alleyway.
"Keep yourself out of trouble, let's meet again. But until then, try not to die." he said and handed me one of the perfume bottle and a bag.
"They have a really strong sense of smell so I suggest you change your clothes and spritz on a lot of this " he said and smirked at me and walked away.
"What just-wait!" I ran out of the alleyway towards the way he walked to only to see an empty street making me gasp as I quickly ran to the nearest public washroom and did as he said.
"Are these his clothes?" I asked myself as I wore the oversized sweater and shorts that were in the bag. After that I spritz a large amount of the perfume on myself and made my way home.
Two days later I found myself at the park eating a watermelon popsicle, watching as the kids played in the water sprinklers. I smiled and chuckled as I watched them intently wishing I could go back to my younger years at the orphanage I grew up in. Even though I wasn't adopted, my life in the orphanage was quite nice...we had a nice headmistress, good food, loving care takers and a comfortable and safe place to live in. I sighed as I finished up my popsicle, grinning when it read two free popsicles.
"Ah, you're alive." I looked up to see the guy from monday causing me to shriek and flinch.
"Y-You!" I exclaimed as he smirked and sat next to me on the bench.
"Oh, you won." he said looking at my popsicle stick.
As we ate our popsicle, I couldn't help but stare at him.
He was definitely handsome, without a doubt and strong...really strong which brought me to the conclusion that he probably was either not a human or an incredibly strong human, my bet was on the first choice as the grandma who would make our meals when I was little told me that spirits and demons of sorts existed among us.
"If you keep staring at me you're popsicle will melt." he said making me turn a dark shade of red as I quickly chewed my popsicle causing me to have extreme brain freeze.
"Ahhh-" I groaned and clutched my head as he looked at me with amused eyes.
"I've met a lot of humans but you must be the most interesting and amusing one yet." he said as I froze and looked at him with wide eyes.
"Humans? Does that mean..." I trailed as he looked at the bed of roses.
"You like flowers?" he asked me and before I could even respond he already had a bouquet of roses in his hand.
"Take these as a gift for helping me out that day." he said as I looked at the roses.
"I don't take flowers from a stranger." I mumbled as he chuckled.
"I like your personality, the name's Lee Rang but just call me Rang." he said as I looked at him and smiled softly.
"I'm Kang Noeul." I said and accepted the flowers as he stood up.
"Nice name, it suits you." he said as he put on his shades and brought his hand forward.
"Friends?" he asked as I nodded and shook his hand and once again in the blink of an eye he propped me up to my feet.
"A fox always repays kindness, so tell me what you want...anything you wish for I'll get it for you." He said as I thought for a while.
"I don't have friends so...can you be my friend ? Like, a real friend not just for the sake of repaying my kindness but my real friend?" I asked as he chuckled and ruffled my hair.
"I'm not one for befriending humans seriously, but you're an exception." he said and walked in front of me and stopped.
"Are you just gonna stand there? Come on, we have places to be." he said as I furrowed my brows.
"Where?" I asked not realising that the next few months would be filled with me regretting my decisions.
"Who's car was that?!" I exclaimed referring to the car we just trashed as we ran away.
"My elder brother's." he said completely chill as I gasped.
"The one who abandoned you?!" I exclaimed as I picked up my speed.
"Why are you running so fast?" he asked as I continued sprinting.
"I don't want to die in the hands of a pure Gumiho...if you, a half gumiho are that strong I can't imagine how strong he'll be." I said as he held my hand and stopped me.
"Who said I'd let him kill you hm?" he said as he started walking us in a slow pace.
I've been friends with Rang who is not only a Gumiho but also my roommate for about 2 and a half months now...and everyday is filled with us getting in bizarre adventures or causing mischief. Being friends with him somehow unlocked a new version of my self that I wasn't aware I had while still being myself.
Having him in my life not only changed my life but also my feelings for him compared to when we had first met. Sure he was bad, he did bad things and had a long standing grudge on his elder brother who he was currently planning on getting revenge from but nonetheless he made me feel safe, protected and loved...something I haven't felt in years.
"You'd be willing to protect me?" I asked, completely surprised as he scoffed.
"We've been living with each other for than two months and that was enough for me to know that you can't live without me." he said with a smug expression, he isn't completely wrong though.
"Yeah, yeah." I said as he suddenly sat down in a bench and left me standing as he made me stand between his legs and wrapped his arms around my waist and burried his face in my waist.
"You won't...abandon me too will you?" he asked through the fabric of my sweater, catching me off guard.
"Why would you think that?" I asked as he held me tighter.
"My intentions aren't good...I only want revenge and bloodshed." he said as I sighed and ran my fingers through his hair.
"Maybe you're not as good as most people but for me it doesn't matter...I won't make fun of you for that...nor will I judge. But I just want you to know that I won't abandon you and I hope that you won't abandon me too." I said as he chuckled.
"Never, you have my word." he said as I took a deep breath.
"Rang?...can I tell you something?" I asked as he smiled and kissed my forehead.
"I love you too idiot...I can assure you that cause a fox always stays loyal to his mate." he said catching me off guard.
"How did you know?" I asked as he pulled me into a real hug.
"You weren't good at hiding your feelings, I saw and felt the love you have for me enough to entrust you with my heart, I love You Kang Noeul." he said and leaned in making me close my eyes as he pressed a soft yet loving kiss to my lips under the orange skies created by the sun's rays as it set.
"I love you too, Rang-ah."
"Never thought that I'd find
That the one in my life would be so near
And now you're here
I got you, you got me
When it's us, babe, you make me feel complete
You're all I need."

So I'm relatively new to the fandom, and during my stay in this rabbit hole, that is, Clexa, I've got a few questions that I'm hoping you could answer :)
Why is everyone here pro-Lexa? Like don't get me wrong I absolutely love Lexa as a character and Alycia is a queen, but why all the hate towards some of the other characters, like Bellamy? I've never watched The 100 the whole way through (literally exited outta the show the second Lexa died), even then, it's been years since I watched it. Did I miss something while I was binge-watching, or was my teenage brain at the time just too immature to realize he was a total jackass..? Also, it's not just Bellamy, I've also seen hate for Bob, the actor who plays him. Which brings me to another question: does this fandom not like Eliza? I always see so much support when Alycia has an upcoming project or is posting Instagram updates but nothing for Eliza? Again, no judgment for the Alycia love because I completely understand why everyone here is head over heels in love with that girl but I just wanted to know, has Eliza ever done anything wrong? Or have I just conveniently only stumbled upon Alycia stans on this app?
Anyway, a totally unrelated note but since I'm here… may I just say ma'am, your writing is the bomb diggity. Like the perfect blend of humor, sexiness, angst, and fluff, THE GODDAMN FLUFF. Genius, you're a genius, like a mad scientist of Clexa fanfic. Hope you keep doing what you're doing, my friend. Take your time though, and don't listen to those ignorant anons that are crawling around yelling "wHy ArE yOu TaKiNg So LoNg To UpDaTe?" Thank you for writing for the Clexa fandom! ❤️
First I wanna say thank you for the sweet words and reading, that means so much to me 🥹💕 not to be a nerd but I screenshot that for one of my worse imposter syndrome days lol
Long post so you can read under the cut. Long time clexas you can just skip if you want because honestly I got annoyed all over again just typing it and you know it all already 🥴
Now right off the top, you don't have to hate Bellamy if you don't want to. It's not like that's a prereq for being a clexa, so if you like him, like him and don't worry about what anyone says. He's a fictional character so anyone who gets intense over someone liking him I think needs to take a walk.
But the reason why a lot of Clexas, myself included, hate him is somewhat of a two part answer. The main reason being is that his character is trash 😅. I mean I'm not gonna dissect every little bit of canon but the main points for me at least, since I can't speak for anyone else, are that he was constantly fucking up literally everything. He gets to earth, proclaims "tHeRe aRe nO RuLeS" and then,,, immediately declares himself the leader and starts forcing people to follow what he says. He literally almost let Clarke fall into a pit of spikes, tried to handcuff her and keep her hostage "for her own good", he spearheaded the whole thing with taking off their wristbands, HE BACKED PIKE, participated in the massacre of a peaceful army sent to protect skaikru, he constantly shamed and blamed Clarke for everything that ever went wrong even when a lot of that stuff was either the best solution in a bad situation OR was an indirect fallout from something fucked up that skaikru had done. The sweaty little fucker was always trying to control/manipulate Clarke and skaikru and his own damn sister despite the fact that everything he ever planned himself turning out to be: A Terrible Idea. Basically the dude sucked but was held up on spindles of glorification as being this heroic uwu soft boy that wasn't actually supported by any one damn thing in canon when you actually look at it objectively. And I'm sure I'm even forgetting stuff. The dude just sucked.
Agian, that's my own two cents.
The other reason being, it's rollover from having to deal with blarks. Their constant harassment and shoving their fanon, non-existent ship down everyone's throat, while being entitled little brats throwing tantrums about them not happening at every turn has led from what probably would've been just a mild distaste for a character for most into loathing even the name. Understand I'm not saying the word harassment lightly. They were awful for years. Death threats and homophobia, spamming inboxes with hateful messages and sending awful pictures/memes etc. One even sent EJT a dick pic with Blark written on their penis. They sent memes non-stop about Lexa dying when people were still reeling from it. I'm not saying all Blarks are bad because they're not, but there was enough harassment and viciousness from a large enough and loud enough faction that at a certain point it becomes a blanket feeling of animosity toward the entire ship and everything that follows it.
As for disliking EJT. In reality, she used to be the fandom favorite. I mean she was our girl because she used to champion us and was hilarious about it. Go look up old cons and interviews with her. She was funny and great. Once upon a time E was our biggest cheerleader and dealt with A Lot of abuse and harassment from The Other fandom for it. I'm talking body shaming, slut shaming, comments about her intelligence, sexual harassment and trolling her about her boyfriends and very descriptive messages about how they wanted her to harm herself. The list goes on. And no one, especially not Bob who was the golden boy for The Other fandom, ever said a word in her defense. Never told his fans to stop or that he condemned it. Ever. Not once. That never sat well with clexas, but you can't control what other people do.
We had her back anyway. So, it was whatever. Gross, but whatever.
And then she married Bob. Which, and Blarks cannot seem to wrap their heads around this fact, literally no cared about. She could've just married him and kept being the same person and no one would've cared. In fact, the way this fandom loved her, at first everyone was like hmmm weird and sudden but good for her I guess! Be happy!
But then Bob's ex came forward with very serious allegations about her past relationship with him. She released a statement that you can easily find online and from that it painted a very dark picture of things that involved both him and EJT. As I'm someone who believes victims, I have no reason not to believe her, and since the very bizarre (non) rebuttal that EJT posted in reply made zero sense, that was that. It changed the lens of how a lot of people started looking at her.
Which leads me to the charities.
Hear a collective Clexa sigh.
They're a saga in themselves, but to sum it up as short as possible, EJT had been a part of a children's organization for YEARS that she herself helped set up. Clexas raised a lot of money for this charity through fundraising and selling fanart and we really cared about it. And literally within months of them being married, he became involved in it, and then shortly thereafter, magically they both had to "step away from it" for dubiously explained reasons. (Which, if you read his ex's statement, logical deduction of what probably actually happened will make more sense than what they claimed, and not in a good way.) Sensibly, they started recieving backlash from supporters because, again a lot of people had been helping this charity for years and all of a sudden she was just gone from it and all the projects were halted. I'm not blaming solely her for anything but to just cut and run like she did was sus to say the least.
So to steer away from that shitshow, they started another charity. With a bunch of right-wing MAGA nuts. Yeah. They weren't open or transparent about anything, no records of where any of the money was going, iirc no real legitimate charity registration/tax documentation that anyone could find (and in the US that's all public info sooooooo). It was a total clusterfuck that people started calling them out on from the start. At first they tried to ignore it and just keep collecting money by doing these ridiculous cameos as cash grabs, but just like the first charity, after a while (and a lot of initially unaccounted for money being raised) the poor little darlings just had to "step away for mental health reasons."
Which I would accept and support wholeheartedly because mental health is extremely serious... except funnily, they didn't stop doing the cameos. They kept doing those and charging their fans money to listen to them blather on about made up ~behind the scenes info~ about Blark stuff and it being super secretly canon but for a million reasons that they don't know and can't name, stopped it from happening. Claims of love scenes and kisses that have never been backed up by evidence (like a script) or corroborated by a single person involved in the show. But it's totally true guys, just trust them bro. So yeah, they've kept doing all that. Just... not giving the money they're charging for the cameos to their "charity."
So that's the meat of it, I might be forgetting things and smudging some finer details because it's been a long while ago, but I think you can get the gist. People don't like Bob because he was an ass to fans and EJT herself before them even getting married. He's said ableist things and quoted racists trying to sound smart and never once apologized for anything. He's been accused of abuse in his personal life and has never addressed it, only made his wife write a terrible fanfiction-esque response to appease his ardent followers. And frankly, she pissed off her fans. Once she married him, she completely flipped her personality from a funny charity doing, body positivity leading, cheerleading about "Clexa are soulmates" and "Lexa is the love of Clarke's life" girl, to doing personal cash grabs constantly while spewing all this made up Blark garbage that directly contradicts things they've both said in the past to please her faithful paying cameo fans (read his fans).
It's all left a lot of people with a bad taste in their mouth, to say the least.
And ya best believe if Alycia does some crazy shit, I'll turn on her too 🤷‍♀️ but honestly I'm not too worried about that cuz the girl is a cryptid who you literally can't pay to go to cons or do cameos

This fic happens after they everyone gets back inside. I was supposed to post this after chapter 90's release but I was busy with my internship so I couldn't finish it in time. A longer note will follow at the bottom of fic. Thanks and happy reading!! 💕
Clothes to Wear for Another Decade
The Forgers have been helping their new neighbors, the Authens, unpack their luggage and arrange their belongings. Loid moved and opened the boxes while Yor dusted the shelves and cleaned all over the dirty nooks. Bond lazily lied after the tiring adventure of a walk. Anya and Mr. Authens are engaged in a more or less coherent chat about housewares and zoology.
“Should we open this up?” Yor asked, carrying a massive trunk with no difficulty.
“As for that one… I can't remember what's inside. Can you please open it?” Mrs. Authen said, trying to recall its content.
“Okay.”
Yor did as requested and clothes of unfamiliar style and colors emerged. Dresses with puffed sleeves and capes, pleated skirts, wide-legged pants, vests, flat caps, suspenders, pinstripe suits, knitted tops and many more. Mrs. Authen's expression turned bright as she grabbed some.
“It's our old clothes! Now I remember! It would be a shame to leave them behind so we had to bring some of them.” She delightfully said.
Anya and Mr. Authen joined them in rummaging through the colorful pile.
“How nice to see these again. Look at that! It's my Sunday favorite, and this one too from one of our dates.” Mr. Authen held up some oddly paired baggy trousers and sweaters.
“I used to wear these for parties.” Mrs. Authen took her flapper dresses with elaborate patterns.
Anya held up several items out of curiosity.
“Will Becky approve these long thingies?” She thought out loud.
Mrs. Authen smiled and turned to Yor and Loid.
“Come and choose anything you'd like to try!"
"But we still have to-" Yor started.
"Don't be shy, dear! Here, this. Try this. And this one, that one too! Your mister can surely take care of himself, isn't that right?" The woman turned to Yor and Loid.
Suddenly, they were too stunned to speak. As if it was their first time to be identified as husband and wife.
"Uhm…"
"Oh? Aren't you two wedded?"
"Uh- Y-Yes, ma'am! We're already married. Last year. Anya is my child with my late wife who passed away." Loid was so taken aback by the question that it caused him to stutter.
"Is that so, dear? But what a nice family, you all are."
"Well… Thank you, ma'am."
Mrs. Authen continued searching through the folded items until she got her hands on a large fabric. She unfolded it and showed a set of baggy top with and pleated skirt. Underneath is another set of plain shirt with suspenders and wide-legged pants. The colors have already faded a little but the fabrics are barely damaged.
"I think these will look good on both of you."
"But we can't-" Loid started but the old lady spoke again.
"Please, It'll be very nice to see you wear our clothes just this once. Won't you grant this old woman's favor?"
They became fidgety and couldn't stare at anyone at all.
"O-Okay… We will try them on." Yor said shyly.
To shield himself from embarrassment and scrutinizing gazes, he took the clothes and went into one of the rooms to get changed. Yor did the same and went to another room. It did not take long before they both stepped out.
"My, my, it really suits you!" Barbara said in delight.
"Really, they do. Just like us when we were younger." Her husband added.
“Mama and Papa look like people from old movies.”
Loid and Yor could not help but blush in embarrassment and smile awkwardly. It simply felt different. Because they are donning the old couple's clothes.
“How do they fit?” Mrs. Authen asked.
“It fits just right. But I was scared that I might damage the skirt so I had to adjust it a little.” Yor said, scanning the clothes for damage.”
“And you?”
“The shirt fits me but the pants seem a little bit short for me.” Loid replied while adjusting the suspenders.
Mr. And Mrs. Authen couldn't help but pour compliments and tell them stories of old, the memories that were stitched on the clothes.
"Oh dear… you look so good in our dress. Why don't you keep it?" Mrs. Authen suddenly asked.
"Hm-?! Keep?! But we can't accept this ma'am…" Yor immediately said in surprise.
"I think so too, Mrs. Authen. We think your family should be the one wearing these. I believe they'll treasure it more dearly." Loid added.
"Could it be that you don't want it because it doesn't suit your taste? Then we can just go to the tailor for something nice." Mr Authen said.
"N-No, sir! We assure you, it's not! We simply think that we don't deserve your beloved items." Loid reasoned with a smile.
He started worrying that they offended the couple for rejecting but he was surprised when Mrs. Authen took his hand.
"You know, son," The old lady started as she also took Yor's hand and placed it with Loid's.
The physical touch that was shared did nothing as much as what the rest of Mrs. Authen's words did to them.
"These clothes gave us good memories for a long time. I hope that they'll do the same for you too."
Loid and Yor only smiled. It was only in an instant but their gazes crossed. Their countenance showed half-torn cheerfulness. If anything, the words caused a sudden pang of bitterness to Loid.
Loid doesn't know what's in Yor's mind but for him, they are unworthy of such a pure gesture. It wasn't only because they are not a real couple. They are simply bound by the benefits of a fake relationship with no lasting commitment on his end. It's unspoken but he knows it very well.
Good clothes for good memories.
The uncertainty of the future was enough to keep them from accepting such prized possession. Loid knew that the Forger family would not last long enough for such clothes to be worn a dozen times.
▪︎•▪︎•▪︎•▪︎•▪︎
I hope you enjoyed this little fic of mine. Actuallyyy,, this is pretty much a by-product of my rainy day fic that i posted some time ago. That fic was supposed to be longer because Loid and Yor were supposed to be taken in by an old couple that runs a boutique shop for vintage items (their old items). And because Loid and Yor are rain-drenched, the old couple will give them clothes.
But since there were still no elderly couple in the manga back then and of course with my laziness and distaste for carelessly naming my OCs, I cut off the said fic as i have posted. You can go ahead and read it if you're interested 🥰🥰.
So ever since i posted that fic, I've been waiting for old characters to be introduced in the manga and finally chapter 90 came. We now have Mr. and Mrs. Authen!!! 🤩🤩🤩 I'm so glad that i put this fic off until the right time comes. And now I'm sharing this with you.

Band AU (Part One?)
These are just some songs I would assign Class 1-A characters if they were the lead singer in a band AU...feel free to request some genres if you want this to be a series and if you wish to use some of these as prompts for a fic. But please send me the link because I would LOVE to read it!!
The first genre to start this series issss *drumroll* Goth!
Class 1-A!
Kyouka Jirou ~ Spellbound by Siouxsie and The Banshees (Anything by Siouxsie feels like it would match her voice-ish, she's probably too low for Jirou but I still think it sort of matches?)
Hanta Sero ~ Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode (It sort of matches his dub voice -- which is what I'm trying to do for this series -- and I feel like the 'chillness' of Depeche's voice matches Sero's vibe)
Denki Kaminari ~ Hot Hot Hot!!! OR Let's Go To Bed by The Cure (Only reason why I give him two songs is because Hot Hot Hot sort of sounds like him singing bad on purpose imo)
Eijirou Kirishima ~ Bite My Hip by Bauhaus (Is it really a goth song assignment if Bauhaus isn't mentioned? Anyways, Kirishima gets this song because it fits his sort of nasally dub voice if you get what I mean?? Not to mention his shark teeth lol)
Katsuki Bakugou ~ Be My Death Cult by Calabrese (Totally didn't pick this one because of how much Bakugou screams 'DIE!')
Mezo Shoji ~ I Don't Wanna Be Me by Type O Negative (This was so hard to assign because I still don't know TOO many goth musicians and is sort of considered a "baby-bat" in the community, haha!!)
Tenya Iida ~ This Charming Man by The Smiths (Listen y'all, I know there is controversy with The Smiths for...reasons and some consider them to be one of the first indie bands to ever form, but I've seen them in too many goth playlist so I'm counting it as such)
Rikidou Satou ~ Kiss Me Until My Lips Fall Off by Lebanon Hanover (Sorta sounds right on the dot when it comes to William Maybelline and Sato's english dub...)
Momo Yaoyorozu ~ Violet by Hole (Picture this: Momo screaming this song and *insert ship* staring at her in awe..I rest my case)
Fumikage Tokoyami ~ Out of Control by She Wants Revenge (Yet another hard one to assign! Everyone's voices are all so unique and so this is the best I could come up with!)
Mashirao Ojiro ~ Staring At Dark Skies by ANGST/JOY (Not my best assignment...but it'll have to do because I legit cannot think of anything else)
Ochako Uraraka ~ Incubus Succubus II by Xmal Deustchland (Honestly loved this german band, it's a shame they became pop and it's the closest I could get to find a singer that sounds like Uraraka)
Izuku Midoriya ~ Vicious Pastimes by House of Harm (The title kinda matches what he does in his pastimes which is scrapping with villains and all, haha)
Mina Ashido ~ Twilight by bôa (legit can't tell the difference sometimes)
Shouto Todoroki ~ Snake Dance by The March Violets (This one took forever to assign because of Todoroki's monotone voice, andd I totally didn't pick this song because of how much it mentions flames)
Yuga Aoyama ~ Walking on Both Sides by Pink Turns Blue (Again, totally didn't pick this one based on the title and how it matches with *insert spoiler that iykyk*)
Tooru Hagakure ~ Rose Blood by Mazzy Star (Hagakure is so high-pitched that it's so hard to find a song, but I think it matches her voice?)
Koji Koda ~ Mascara by Deftones (Koda barely speaks and so I legit just went with the softest sounding one I knew But at the same it's Deftones so...)
Tsuyu Asui ~ Step On Me by The Cardigans (I know Asui's voice is a bit lower-ish but I think it sort of matches her nasally voice)
Tell me how I did and if I missed any! Although I'm pretty sure we're all good...
Doing this sorta made me want to write a My Goth Academia fic, haha! I know some of the bands are actually considered alt, but please just let me be delulu.
What actually started this is that I've seen enough 'My Immortal' stuff floating around that it inspired me to put my goth knowledge to the test! Again, feel free the use this as inspiration, but please tag me or send the link 'cause I would be totally stoked to read it! If you want me to to this but in another genre and make it a series, just send an ask and I can do almost every genre except for certain sub-genre's of metal and country music.

folklore really was like.
In my defense, I have none, for never leaving well enough alone. What should be over burrowed under my skin. They say "move on," but you know I won't. Because I didn't have it in myself to go with grace, and you're the hero flying around saving face. Don't call me "kid." Don't call me "baby." What did you think I'd say to that? Every time you call me crazy, I get more crazy. And when you say I seem angry, I get more angry. Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me.
Make sure nobody sees you leave. Hood over your head, keep your eyes down. It made me feel like I was an old cardigan under someone's bed. I don't belong, and my beloved, neither do you.
And yet, I'm still trying everything to keep you looking at me. 'Cause when I'd fight, you used to tell me I was brave. I can see you starin', honey. Those eyes add insult to injury. It's like I'm wasting your honor. But I'm not your problem anymore. Even if you know damn well, for you I would ruin myself a million little times. I canceled my plans just in case you'd call, back when wanting was enough. (For me, it was enough.) All these people think love's for show, but I would die for you in secret. I have a lot of regrets about that.
But I'm still a believer, and I don't know why. So I'm here in your doorway. I just wanted you to know, this is me trying. All I do is try, try, try. They assume you know nothing. But I knew. 'Cause I knew everything when I was young. I'm pouring my heart out to a stranger, yet I don't quite know what to say. Some things, you just can't speak about. The worst thing that I ever did, was what I did to you. This time, it was true. I'm only 17, I don't know anything. I could never give you peace.
(something something something inevitable shame. shame that you can't avoid because everyone can see it, and you can't help but reveal it. shame as a result of your emotionality, thin skin, and inability to play it cool being your fatal flaw. Shame that you can't hide because it's attached to a core part of you. Shame that you have to bear because you can't help it. you can't not be earnest. you can't not have emotions. you can't help that you're you. and to everyone else, that's shameful.)
There goes the loudest woman this town has ever seen. I had a marvelous time ruining everything. No one likes a mad woman. What a shame she went mad.

Daemyra are so unhinged, it's not even real. The way he was looking at her through the wedding was so hot. I def think he got turned on at the way she was speaking. 🤣It's a shame they don't get any scenes together next ep, and they don't see each other for the next 10 years. I'm guessing it's because havoc is inevitable whenever the two are around.
these idiots were really in the middle of her engagement party with all the nobles present having a whole ass lovers fight that included a little manhandling and an almost kiss! COMPLETELY UNHINGED COMPLETELY! 😂
Daemon was so hilarious during the entire thing. You can actually tell he feels a little guilty about leaving her because though he's direct he is not arrogant in the way he approaches her at all. He's not quite frantic or remorseful but he's definitely not pompous or confident either. He clearly planned on making his very rational case to her with the hope that she listens to him but she immediately challenges him on everything she's saying and he doesn't get angry or desperate he's literally just shook lmaoo
Like he starts off all "is this what you want?" and
"Laenor isn't good for you (and I have too much pride to just outright say I would be so please please please marry me instead)"
"oh yeah remember my marriage? No longer a problem (see it's perfect! just listen to me please"
and then Rhaenyra jumps on that and starts to challenge him to take her and the idiot is just completely entranced. He zeros in on her lips like they are a beacon calling out to him. He went from clear and rational "so this is why you shouldn't do this" to "fuck fuck fuck she's making valid points fuck fuck fuck I want to marry her so bad fuck fuck fuck she's so hot when she speaks to me like this fuck fuck fuck yes I want to cut everyone down and take her to dragonstone and make her my wife over and over again fuck fuck fuck I actually want to take her right now " and then completely loses control of himself so he can't even fight the urge to grab her at the moment
and the best part is Rhaenyra knew exactly what she was doing because sure she was angry but she knew Daemon wanted her and she knew just how to poke at him to get him to respond.
Unhinged. Both of them.
This is also why I think Daemon high-tails it out of there so quickly. I know he doesn't care about rules but he had to know just how scandalous it was to grab her and try to kiss her like that at her wedding feast in front of Viscerys and the groom's parents but he couldn't control himself. That shit was wild and he knew it and he knew he would take it even further unless he physically removed himself from the moment so he ran away and never looked back when all the chaos started.

Hello! Can I request ray/saeran being in love with MC while she is with 7?
yes yes! i took some inspiration from the bad ending where ray starts questioning if you've been playing 'his version' of the game,
also first fan fiction post of the year hehe happy new year everyone <3
ray x reader / seven x reader
[Heat lightening]
"there's nothing i can do, not much i can change. i give it up to you. i surrender"
cws : none; angst no happy ending / one sided love
"Why does it always crash when Seven's around?" your voice is frustrated - you'd taken a fondness to hacker, regardless of Ray's attempt to warn you his route would only hurt you. You'd be prepared to face the angst even for just a moment more of his sweet words - but it seemed the game would glitch and freeze, or Ray would conveniently have to come to do reports mid conversation. Were the warnings just covers for the route not being complete?
"Does it? It must be because that AI is the worst of the lot, he's filled with so many bugs he's caused nothing but trouble for me... of course you can chose who you'd want, but I'd advise a different route."
"Hmm... but I like Seven, it'd be a shame to give up just over a few bugs, don't you think?" He seemed to stiffen at your words, searching for something to say.
See, his excuses had worked, they'd all made sense even if they were a bit suspicious - but upon learning the AIs were in fact actual people, and this was an actual party you were planning, and you were also now surprise kidnapped by a cult, the excuses didn't work anymore. All he'd say was 'Seven is a traitor' ,'He's a liar' and 'He's a danger to the Mint Eye.'
From what you'd gathered... what you'd suspected... was Ray was being manipulated, controlled, hurt buy the 'saviour' of this nightmare. And if that was the case, then surely that only meant Seven wasn't the heartless evil you'd been told. Surely it meant... his words were true? You cared for Ray, perhaps not in the way you suspected he was starting to care for you, you didn't blush around him, your thoughts were platonic - but that doesn't mean you love him any less. Just different. You still want him free. But how could accomplish such a task? V was trying... what could you do that was any more? The man seemed too focused on desperately trying to get you to love him not Seven, love him, love anyone not Seven, please not Seven. Ray was crying, pleading, calm only when your hands were soft on his shoulders - only for his heart to shatter over and over again whenever you called him nothing more then a friend.
And he'd come night after night as though one day you'd change your mind, fall into his arm with the sparkle in your eyes he only saw when he was mentioned. Your words about escaping fell on deaf ears, went through a man who couldn't care less what he went through if he could only hold you once. He was sorry, sorry he lied, sorry he wasn't enough - he'll change everything, anything, please, please, please.
Saeran wasn't as kind. He shut down the messenger the second the party was cancelled - you didn't need to speak to them anymore. Seven was frantically trying to get through to you, setting up rooms after rooms that he tried to hide from Saeran's merciless attacks - never getting more then a few words out before Saeran shut it down, teasingly letting you both think that just for a second it would work.
"He took everything from me, he was always better then me. It's not fair, it's not fair! You're my toy! Mine! Mine, mine, mine!"
Day after day passed, nothing more then a blur of events. Had it been a week? Three days? A few minutes? Time meant nothing to you anymore.
707: ive found a way to send a message he can't see... but only one!! pls follow the link!! trust me and download it!! pls pls pls!!
And then you had a chatroom again. Well... it was just the two of you. He could add the rest... but... wasn't it nice to have the online equivalent of some alone time? He'd pass your messages on the others if you had any.
Oh? Was that your selfie? He thought you were even cuter then he'd pictured you. Are you embarrassed? Gahh, he can't handle it.
All the teasing from the members came to your mind, all the 'ohhh Seven likes you!!' from Yoosung, 'he's a man!! be careful!! from Zen.
707: imma dangerous guy... you shouldn't fall for someone like me lol
(name): im already in a dangerous situation, arent it?
707: lololol
707: true...
707: do i need to be ur prince in shining armour to come save u?
(name): saved with a true loves kiss!
707: ki
707: kiss?!
(name): its the only way to truly save me
707: ah, then i'll have to do it. you know. to save you.
Your mood rose, Saeran hated it and snatched your phone again and again, unaware Seven was sure to keep the app hidden unless he activated it, calling you before hand and with a whole system to shut it off in a second if Saeran came barging in - code words, secret clues, it was all hidden and neat,
But then he slipped up.
You two were never at pet names. Not seriously. The sudden accidental 'Darling' in one of his what Saeran now understood as fake attempts at contacting you felt like a slap to the face. Could it have been a joke? But in such a seemingly serious message... He looked back, he saw the switch, the one night he hadn't noticed anything and suddenly you were happier and Seven was trying less.
Saeran: You two think you're so clever, huh?! Using private chatrooms.
Saeran: just you wait...
Saeran: i'll take your phone myself.
Saeran: sit lonely in that room and do nothing but wait for me. i'll even install a speaker system, you can talk to me through that hehehe
Saeran: say goodbye to your lover boy.
He through his phone after sending that last message, ignoring the cracking of the screen as he yelled into the palms of his hands. He couldn't admit why this angered him so much, if he thought he would have to admit - so he didn't think. He sat there in silence, no sound beyond his shaken breaths.
Darling.
If he were to head to your room he'd break down again, he'd yell and fall crying at your feet, he'd forget the phone and run, it would the catalyst to you leaving. To him having to accept the one simple fact : you didn't romantically love him.
Perhaps he knew this. Subconsciously. Perhaps consciously.
Perhaps he went to you anyway,

Again - Part 20
Part 1 | Part 19 | Part 21 | Full list of Again series links inc AO3 Link
Before reading this chapter, please take the time to read the notes below
Hi 👋
I dont normally put warnings on this fic, because generally speaking its fluffy, funny, romantic and sweet, right? However this next chapter is why I started writing this story in the first place. It was always going to end up here. Its the reason the story is set when it is, and where the foreshadowing has been leading to. It was to explore something that has been on my mind since season 1 of the show. How that kind of trauma, gets brushed under the carpet, by some characters.
I dont want to spoiler this chapter or next few too much, but its a tough time, right from the first few lines.
I can however assure you that the eventual ending of this story will be happy (I wrote one fic with an unhappy ending and I dont think, I'll ever do that again, because i'm a sensitive little soul. I love that other people write things like that, its just not something that I want to do write now. Not to these versions of these characters).
I'm going to write this in such a way that, when we eventually get back to the sweet stuff, you wouldnt have had to read these less happy chapters to carry on. This is just in support of all the readers that dont enjoy the sad stuff. I have days like that too :)
So the main warnings here are:
Hospital setting
Mention of someone passing away
References to past trauma
Vague references to very real world events that happened in 2001
Vague mention of potential school incident
Canon-typical violence
Canon-typical horror
Canon-typical threat
Steddie fic where Steve and Eddie are in their mid 30's and everyone has sort of drifted apart
Taglist: @adaed5 @grtwdsmwhr @swimmingbirdrunningrock @mightbeasleep, @jewellthebooknerd, @fentiibratzz @rvllybllply2014
================================================
Steve pushes the hospital tray of food away from him as his eyes fill with tears again.
"Anything?" He asks, his voice trembling to a concerned and solemn-looking Jenny. She shakes her head and closes her eyes regretfully.
"No, Steve. I'm sorry." She says sadly. She pushes the food tray back towards him, "Please, just something, alright? The kids will ask. Don't make me lie to them, ok?" He can hear the pleading in her voice, and the guilt washes over him. He had to keep it together and try not to be selfish about this. After all, this was his fault.
He picks up the spoon and moves the food around a little before selecting a spoonful to eat, the pads are stuck to his chest, and the wires shift uncomfortably as he sits up a little more in an attempt to be an adult about this. He just had to accept it and move on. For a while there, he had everything, but his luck had finally run out.
He looks up at Jenny momentarily, "Sorry," he says genuinely, but shame won't let him keep eye contact, "You shouldn't be here. You should be at home resting."
"Yeah, well, if the shoe was on the other foot, Steve, I know you'd be here too. Right by my side. You're not just the father of my children. You're one of my best friends. No way, I'd let you deal with this alone." She says, reaching forward and rubbing his arm.
Steve's lip trembles, "I'm so sorry!" He blurts out before covering his mouth to quieten the sobs that erupt from him. Uncontrollable, breathtaking, painful sobs until he's crying so hard he can't see.
"Steve, it's ok. I understand. We all understand, ok? Everything went to shit yesterday for everyone, not just you. Just...your problems, well, they landed you here. That's all." She tries to reassure him, swallowing nervously. He can tell by the look on her face she pities him.
"I shouldn't have spoken to you like that. I shouldn't have done those things. What's wrong with me? I've ruined everything, Jen! Everything!!" Steve has felt sadness many times in his life, but he's not sure if his emotional problems are manifesting his sorrow into actual physical pain. His body hurts from crying so hard and for so long. Since he woke up, the only time he hadn't cried was when his kids were in there. He still had enough grit to keep it together around them.
"You don't know that, Steve." She tries to console him, but he can see her holding back her tears. As he scans her face, he wonders if she was sad to see him finally broken like this, or was it because she knew the pain of accepting something you gripped onto so tightly was rapidly slipping out of your hands, and you had no way to stop it? Not now. Steve feels the frustration build up in him. If everything was gonna be ok, Eddie would be here. He'd be right here next to him, but he wasn't. There was just a loud empty space where Eddie should be, and it taunted Steve with the fact he made it empty.
"Then why isn't he here?!" Steve yells at the other empty seats in the room before crumbling again. "Why isn't he here?" He says more softly before another torrent of tears and sobs wash over him, and he hides his face in his hands. His heart hurts. Though it may as well not be there at all.
"Steve, you need to try and keep calm, alright? If not for your own sake, for mine, and for the kids. We can't lose you. We need you here, ok? I can only imagine how scary this all is, but we don't know, ok. I appreciate that's not super helpful, but it's better than it definitely being the worst-case scenario, right?" She tries again, and Steve hangs his head, wiping away his tears.
"Sorry." He says again.
"Listen, stop that. Stop apologising. You've said sorry so many times now, Steve. I forgive you. We all do." She says, patting his hand."In all the years we've known one another, even when we were really struggling, you never, ever raised your voice to me like that. Not once. I should have known then. I should have sent Val over when that happened, but I was such a mess too, Steve. I didn't know what to do."
Steve manages to calm down a little and look into her eyes, speaking softly, “Jen, please, this is not your fault, ok?” He swallows the lump in his throat, “Like, I know worse things are happening in the world. Things that make no sense. Someone running out on me because I did something so awful, at least that seems reasonable. It’s just hard right now, but I’ll get over it.” Jenny leans over and clasps his hand in both of hers.
“Someone? He’s not just someone. We don’t even know if he ran out for sure, though, Steve. Yeah, he sounded scared, but that could have been for a million different reasons for him yesterday, ok?” Steve shakes his head. He appreciates her trying, but he knows the terror he saw on Eddie’s face. He’s seen it before, fifteen years ago—pure fear. Jenny’s shoulders sink, she tilts her head, and her expression falls to sadness, “You’d give up. Just like that?” She asks, her voice cracking a little.
Steve looks down at the wires on his chest to avoid her eyes. He didn’t want to give up. He’d follow Eddie to the ends of the earth if he had to, but not under these circumstances, not when he would be…unwanted.
He pulls his hand from hers and gently pats her, “You need to rest, Jen. This is too much for you. I’d feel better if you just went home, ok?” She shakes her head defiantly with a sweet frown. “You want me to feel even worse than I do right now? What if this all makes you stressed out and sick, huh? You want that on my conscious too?” Steve puts on fake air of annoyance. He’s not mad with her, not at all, but he just wanted to be on his own for a while. “I’m fine. Look at me. I’m all plugged in!” Steve says, gesturing at the machines, widening his eyes at her in an irritated stare. Searching her eyes, he knows she isn’t really buying his performance, but she respects his wishes.
Jenny reaches into her bag and pulls out a cell phone, “Look, I know you can't use that in here, and the phone lines are still messed up, but if anything, Steve, just call or message me, or Val, or whoever.” She passes it over to him. “It’s not exactly the same phone, but the guy in the shop managed to get your old sim card in this one, so it's got all your old numbers and messages.” She gives him a smile that reads half hopeful, half pity and turns to leave. Steve puts the phone face down on the tray in front of him. It wasn’t even on, but just knowing that messages from Eddie were in there was almost too much. Like he was afraid, they would magically appear on the screen to taunt him and twist the daggers littering his heart. Jenny stops just before the door and turns back to him, “Don’t give up, Steve. Not until you know for sure. That's not you.” She gives him a final last smile and leaves.
Steve slumps back against the pillows,  he tries to focus on the TV in his room, but it is doing little to help him. His vision blurs as if he is looking beyond the screen, and his mind plunges him back into yesterday. He should fight it, but he almost wants it. He wants to feel that pain again because it's what he deserves. Let it feast on him so the hurt could drown out the shame. It couldn’t be anywhere close to the amount of pain his betrayal caused Eddie and Jenny yesterday.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Eddie had got a call from one of Jack's kids letting him know Jack had sadly passed away, and Eddie being who he is, had elected to go to be at Wayne's side immediately. Wayne had told him emphatically not to do that. He told him to give him a few hours to sort things out. Steve knew it was because he needed Eddie to calm down and wake up before he drove over there, and honestly, Eddie was going through a kaleidoscope of emotions. He was mad he had to hear it from the kids. He was frustrated Wayne had told him not to go. He was sad to have lost Jack, but he was also relieved that Jack was not suffering anymore, which filled him with guilt.
With the kids at Jenny's, there was no hurry to get them ready for school, so Steve took that time to soothe Eddie a little, make him feel good, and feel cared for, and once Eddie was back to a place where he wasn't pinballing between in his emotions, Steve made him breakfast and suggested maybe he go into work, make sure they can survive a week or so without him, and then collect Wayne and bring him back to theirs. He could have a guest room or the RV. There was lots of space, and they'd figure out something when the kids returned on Sunday. Eddie looked at him so softly with those big soulful eyes and smiled, "I'm so lucky to have you, babe." And Steve wishes that that had been the last time he'd seen Eddie that day. So he could have stayed Eddie's own personal Superman.
To save overly fretting, Steve had taken Beans for a long walk, mainly to kill time and to just breathe in the cool autumn air. He thought it might alleviate his own sorrows. He imagined how Wayne would feel right at that moment, he had already lost Jack in one way, but now he was gone, never to return. No mystical, time-altering, alternate dimension that he could return from, no time for him to get better and come home. He was gone, and nothing anyone could do could change that. There would be no second chance for Wayne and Jack. He selfishly turns the situation into his own. And at the mere possibility of one element of that happening to him and Eddie, an uncomfortable lump of emotion settled into his throat, his stomach swirled with nausea, and he felt his eyes brim with tears.
He pauses for a moment.
Initially, the walk through the reddening leaved trees did help, and everything seemed it would be ok until it suddenly wasn't. They were still fairly deep in the woods when they could hear sirens and the screeching of tires. As they emerge back into the neighbourhood, Steve notices a difference in Beans. She was tense and pulling on the lead, which wasn't her at all. She strained towards the first house, not entirely forcing Steve over there, which she could have done relatively easily. She was so strong.
Steve would never usually look into someone's house, but Bean's level of concern worried him. In the first house, he saw a man and woman holding one another tightly, their faces etched with something between fear and sorrow. Having assessed no one was in danger, Steve feels he's stumbled upon someone's personal tragedy and quickly pulls Beans away and continues the walk home, but then more things start to develop around him. Audible sobbing came from other open windows he'd passed. One of the bigger houses lowers its patriotic flag, and the thing that kicks Steve into a thunderous run home is when he overhears a woman shout to her husband, who had his hands to his head in the yard, "I can't get through. I can't get through to the kids". He rushes past the house and pulls out his cell. He tries to call Jenny. Busy tone. He tries to call Val. The line doesn't even ring. He tries to call Eddie, but it's more of the same.
Even in his top-speed run, it takes them another twenty minutes or so to get home. He is sweating heavily from the run, but simultaneously, an ice-cold chill runs up his spine. As he bursts through the front door, he dumps his keys and Bean's leash. He doesn't even remove it and heads straight to the phone, not even closing the door. He tries everyone again, but he can't get through.
Steve feels his already thudding heart begin to speed up with panic, his breathing shallower. He keeps trying on the phone, and a million terrible scenarios run through his head. What would affect everyone around here? Why was that woman shouting about her kids? It's gotta be a school incident. The thought of which soon has panic is swirling his stomach, forming a lump in his throat, tears he refuses to shed forming and stinging his eyes. Not my kids. Please, god, not my kids. He prayed wordlessly to whoever or whatever was listening.
Then it finally happens the phone line rings.
"Hello?" He says, trying to hide his panic.
"Oh god, Steve! Oh god!" Jenny's hysterical voice comes over the phone. No, no. Please, god, no. Steve squeezes his eyes shut and braces himself for a horror worse than he's ever felt.
"Jenny, listen to me. I need you to calm down. Tell me what's going on, ok?" Steve desperately tries to hold it together, his mind a rapid slide show of his children's faces, as he grips tightly onto the back of the chair.
"It all just happened so fast. First, there was one, and then whilst they were showing it another, and now…" she breaks down again, and Steve can't take this any more. A frustrated rage begins to swell up in him like a tidal wave about to crash down on the nearest bystander.
"Jenny!" He yells aggressively down the phone, "Where the fuck are my kids?! Where are they?!" There is a silence that must last two seconds, if that, but it feels like forever.
When she replies, her voice still tearful but quieter and with a tone of realisation, "Val's gone to get our kids, Steve."
"Why is Val fucking going there to get my kids?! You call me!! Me, Jenny! Fucking Me. Ok?! " Steve pokes himself in the chest roughly. "I protect them! Me!" He feels a sting of pain in his arm and chest, and he has to wipe the beads of sweat from his brow.
"Steve," she says in a severe tone, "The kids aren't in danger. We just wanted to get them out of school and home." The words ring through his head, and his body folds into the nearest chair. He opens and closes his mouth a few times, instantly regretting his outburst.
"I thought…I just…Fuck...I thought something bad had happened. I panicked." He tries more calmly, but it's not an apology.
Jenny's sobs start up again, "Something awful has happened, Steve, but we're all ok, but…um…turn on the TV, Steve. I'm sorry" The panic starts to rise in Steve again. Was it Eddie, is he hurt? No, no. That wouldn't affect everyone in the neighbourhood unless it was some kind of tragic massive collision. Eddie should be at work or on his way to see Wayne. The thundering in his chest starts up again, and now he has the searing pain of indigestion, possibly from all that running. "Don't put the phone down, Steve. I'm right here, ok?" She tries to calm him through her waves of emotion.
Steve pulls the phone as far as he can into the next room to see the TV. He grabs the remote and switches the TV on. The sight that met his eyes was unbelievable. He double-checks the corner of his screen to see that he hasn't stumbled upon a movie. He flicks through the news stations, and it's all the same view. A view he knows well. A view he's seen from one of his Dad's offices a few times. A view where something should be that isn't. A snowfall that wasn't snow at all. Billowing smoke of grey and black engulfed the streets and sky. Standing with his eyes and mouth wide open, he whispers into the handset, "Jesus Christ," and the cell phone in his pocket rings. He answers it quickly, and his eyes flick back to the screen.
"Oh my god, babe, are you alright? I've been trying to get through for ages now!" Eddie's voice crackles down the line. Steve opens his mouth to reply, but everything rushing at him is terrifying. Not even Eddie's voice brings him comfort. Not only is it distorted by the phone line, but it is riddled with panic. The second of respite he does get is just knowing Eddie is still in the world. Not that he was anywhere near all of this.
"Steve? Can you hear me? This fucking piece of shit phone, I swear to Christ!! Steve? Baby? Can you hear me? Are you ok?" His voice of desperation and frustration surges down the phone into Steve's ear and breaks him out of his stupor.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. All good. Kids are on their way to Jenny and Val's. I…I just…uh…" Steve puts on his mask, but the visuals from the TV start looking different. More vivid. He swears he sees a lightning flash.
"Ok…" Eddie didn't sound like he was buying it, "You've got Beans there with you, right, honey?" Eddie says, but his voice is fading. As Steve cautiously approaches the TV, the smoke spreads out, almost like it's one of those 3D movies.
"Yeah…Beans is here," Steve says in a distracted, quiet voice, without looking, but suddenly he can feel her pawing at him and shoving him with her nose.
"Steve?" Eddie asks again, and Beans starts barking, "Ok, listen. I'm gonna need you to turn off the TV and hold tight until I get back, ok. I've just left work to go get Wayne, and once I've got him, I'll come straight to you, ok, babe?" Steve nods to respond, "Can you do that, Steve? Just turn it off, ok? I don't think it's a good idea to be watching it on your own."
Steve can hear his words perfectly well this time, even if he is a little far away sounding. "Uh-huh. I will…I just…" Beans' barking is getting louder and more insistent. It's starting to irritate him because it's overloading his senses. "Hold on a second." Steve's eyes, still trained on the TV, ushers Beans out of the door and shuts it."Sorry, I will. I'll turn it off, sure," he lies. Something about the disaster on screen was pulling him in.
That's when the channel switching starts.
Eddie's voice falls away from him entirely as the smoke seems to drop out of the screen into his living room in tall plumes. He looks around like being surrounded by a three-sixty version of the window from Hawkins High School. When he saw those impossibly tall chimneys of smoke for the first time. When the Upside Down started spilling into their world, along the cracks in the ground, making way for otherworldly horrors to traverse into Hawkins.
The panoramic window falls away from his sight, and he gingerly reaches out towards the smoke. Black and grey particles fall gently in the spaces in between. Looking around, he feels like he is in some horrific snow globe, and it's not long before something gives it all a shake, and Steve falls to the floor, bumping his head a little on the table. As he stands and brushes himself down, he realises he's not in his walking gear anymore. Instead, he's fitted with protective clothing decorated with weapons.
His living room is gone. The ground under his feet is cold and hard. A multitude of roars fill his ears in the distance. His breathing is panicked, the coat buckles across his chest and his arms tighten hard with a squeeze.
Then the vines come, they creep along the floor towards him, up and over him, rapidly wrapping around him until he can see nothing and can only feel the tightness around his body as he yells to be released, but soon a vine clamps over his mouth to put a stop to that also. He's being dragged somewhere he can't see, and as the vines begin to release and open, he hears a swooping and screeching and soon his scars sear with incredible pain as the demo bats descend on him, tearing into his flesh. He waits to meet his demise. Waits for the tail to wrap around his neck, but this time, he is alone. No friends in sight. No rescue at the last second. However, it doesn't come. Instead, he is outside the Creel house. The vines and bats disperse, allowing him to get to his feet outside the door. He knows what is beyond. He has to destroy him this time. For his friends. For his family. For everyone, even himself. He reaches behind to grip his bat or axe, but his hand meets air. The weapons that littered his outfit are gone.
Steve looks over his shoulder, and for a moment, he thinks about it. Running. He can't beat this man, this monster, unarmed, with no powers, but he has to try. He can't let this apocalyptic nightmare leave this place. He has to stop it. He has to protect his children. This can't be their reality. He has to keep them safe.
Steve rolls his shoulders and takes a deep breath, stepping forward. The doors and windows get sucked and snapped backwards inside the house. He peers into the darkness placing his foot on the stairs. The darkness moves, curves and warps, and thousands of spiders spill out of the empty frames of the house. Despite how scared he is, the spiders don't bother him at all. They leave the house in droves, a purpose only they know and as they pass him, they combine together and grow in size. Great hulking, demonic versions of themselves striding into the dark plumes of smoke, no doubt to destroy the world beyond. Back Home.
He turns his attention back to the doorway, steels himself and barges through. He knows where he has to go, the attic. With the vines missing this time, his ascent is more straightforward, but not without moments of trouble. When his boot gets stuck on one of the stairs when the house starts shaking, and some debris from above him comes crashing down but narrowly misses him. The demodogs that jump out at him but seem preoccupied with making noise, warped whimpers, and leaving the house rather than attacking him.
As he rounds the last few stairs, he reaches out and grabs a tall floor lamp. He wields it like his trusty baseball bat, and his heart is fiercely pounding in his chest, the sweat is pumping out of him, and his clothing pulls painfully tight against him again.
He sees before him, Vecna. Held aloft by his vines. Eyes closed, focused on something else. Steve closes his eyes too for a moment, a last look at his loved ones. This could be the end of everything. His last chance to see them, to remember them. His mind swims with the faces of his friends from before and his friends now. The smiling faces of those closest to him now, Val, Jenny, Eddie and last of all, Mackenzie and Corey, laughter etched in their faces, and it rings in his ears like they are right there with him.
He swallows the emotion down and uses it to fuel the fire within himself. He'd end this evil monster or die trying. He screws up his face in a deep frown, draws back the lamp and, with a roar, charges headlong at Vecna to take a swing.
Time slows, and inches from contact, the lamp is frozen in space and time, and a monstrous voice echoes around him. "Steve, what do you think you are doing?" Vecna's eyes open suddenly the lamp flies out of Steve's hands into the darkness and out of his reach. Steve scrambles around for something, anything, but he has nothing, only himself.
The vines plugged into Vecna detach and wrap around Steve, "I had to come back for you," Vecna sneers at him mockingly as he stalks towards him, his distorted hand outstretched.
"I won't let you win!" Steve rages, "I won't. I'd rather die!"
"Look at me, Steve," Vecna replies, his eyes boring into Steve's. "Please, look around. Look at what you are doing." He growls as the vines tighten around him, and the disproportionate hand stretches over Steve's head. "Come back to me, Steve. Where you belong."
A second wind, a last-ditch attempt, some forgotten rage within him, ignites, and with all his might, Steve breaks free of the vines around him and shoves Vecna backwards. Once he's stumbling back, Steve grabs hold of him and charges with him into the wall. Slams him against it.
"I will end you. I am going to stop your evil before it spreads. I won't let you hurt them. I protect them! Me! I won't let you hurt them." He thuds him against the wall again, "Even if all I have to help me do it are my fists!" he yells. He quickly presses his forearm against the evil being's throat and draws back his other fist. He swears to himself then and there that he won't stop until Vecna is dead and gone and everyone he loves is safe again.
"Steve," is all Vecna says as Steve lands the first blow, which misses him somehow, and Steve's fist hits the wall to the side of his head. Frustration wells up in him as he feels the monster of a man pushing back against him. Writhing and grabbing at him desperately. He knows he has him now. He can do this. He can stop all of this. Steve pulls back his fist again, which is throbbing already from the impact of the wall, and just before he sends it forward, he feels a pinch in his side.
Steve blinks a few times, and the channel flickers, something familiar comes into view again. He thinks he can see his wallpaper. Steve shakes his head. It's just one of his mind games.
"Steve, please!" The dark wizard beseeches him, and Steve sees his expression change, no longer an intimidating sneer or cold stare but one of fear. He looks closer, and the shape of his eyes changes, rounder, softer, darker somehow. "You don't have to do this, Steve!" he chokes out; this time, his distorted voice was intertwined with something else.
Steve blinks a few more times, frozen in place. Not easing up, but also not throwing the readied blow he has hanging in the air. Then something totally bizarre happens. The house shakes again, but everything starts to dissolve. The old wooden lined walls melt away to reveal his wallpaper and his windows. The floorboards beneath him no longer crumbling but carpeted. His heart still beating impossibly fast, pain surging through his arms and chest. Steve raises his eyes to Vecna, only to not see him at all but to see Eddie.
Eddie's eyes are wide open, his face purpling, pure fear etched into it. His hands clutching at the forearm cutting off his air supply. Next to his head is a hole in the wall, and Steve's arm is still firmly pressed into his throat.
"Oh god." Steve's voice whispers in a tremble of terrible realisation, "What have I done?" He tries to say, but it's garbled. He looks around frantically and immediately releases Eddie.
The pain stabs into him again, shooting up his arm, and the last thing he remembers is clutching his chest and Eddie stumbling out of the front door.
Then it's just nothing.
Then he woke up here.
He slumps forward again, head in his hands, and he lets the tears overwhelm him and flow as free as they'd like. No one was here to see it. Finally, he looks up at the ceiling and releases a guttural wail of remorse. Grieving what he had only yesterday, right there in the palm of his hand, he had everything he could wish for, and now in its place, a crumbling pile of bitter ashes.
His mind lets him go back to that fortuitous meeting at the library, and then it's a sped-up movie of them rekindling something. Something he didn't even know was anything more than an unrequited crush but blossomed into something beyond his expectation, and all he had to do was tend it, keep it alive. The magic was in the people around him. Steve reasons because he is broken. He failed again. Just like he failed with Jenny. He'd always fail at this, yet again, he'd pulled the people he cared most about down with him.
As his mind cycles through every step of him and Eddie falling in love, it cruelly shows him all the tenderness, the looks, the words, the touches, the kisses, the laughter, the desperately intimate moments. His own brain mocks him torturously with all the things he'd never have again now. This is what you could have had, Steve, but you're just too messed up. You don't deserve this. You're worthless. A stain on your family name, just like your Dad said.
How could he have fucked so much up so quickly? In a matter of hours. Sure, he hadn't meant to hurt or scare Eddie, he'd never want to do that, not ever, but it still didn't take away the fact he had. All because he was so screwed up in the head. Eddie had only asked recently about getting some medical treatment and if Steve had just done it. Just booked it. Just gone to see someone as soon as he could. Maybe none of this would have happened. None of that mattered now. How could Eddie ever trust him again after that? He'd betrayed him in the worst possible way. He couldn't see it was him, blinded by hallucinations. All he could think about was looking at it from Eddie's point of view.
Eddie would have seen the person he loved and trusted blindly taking a swing at him, not recognising him, like he'd forgotten him, and then hurt him. Eddie's fearful eyes flash into Steve's mind repeatedly, each time zooming in a little closer until he could see the tears balanced on his lashes.
Full of self-loathing, Steve wishes he could wipe his mind of this again. He had no idea what to do. Was apologising really good enough? There is no way it could ever make up for that.
A knock at the door interrupts his downward spiral, and he quickly wipes his eyes.
"Mr Harrington? May I come in?" the voice of the nurse rings out.
"Yeah, sure," he says quickly with a slight sniffle as the nurse enters the room. His smile is a comfort. Steve isn't sure how much he knows. He approaches the bed.
"How are we doing, sir? Any pain, headaches or anything else?" he asks gently whilst observing the monitors and making notes on his clipboard.
"No, well, nothing unexpected. I have a bruise on my head and my hand, I think." Steve says solemnly, and the nurse closes the clipboard, turning to him.
"Anything else you wanna mention? We're only here to help," he says kindly, a pitying look on his face, "We don't just treat physical things, you know?" Steve nods and realises he knows.
"Yeah, I think I need that help, I'm not sure exactly what I need, but I need something. But er, with everything going on," Steve gestures at the TV, "I imagine I'm pretty low down the list of priorities, so maybe I can get some information on places I can stay for a while. You know…" he chokes back a sob, choosing his words carefully, "Where I can't scare anyone?" The nurse leans into his view.
"Hey, what happened must have been terrifying for you, but it was such a lot for so many people. You aren't alone, ok? Other people had reactions to everything that happened too. Every fourth of July, we have people come in, you know? The loud bangs and flashes affect some of the older veterans too. Having said that, I will ask for some information to be brought to you. So at least it's one less thing on your mind." He smiles warmly at Steve, "Things are going to be ok. You're recovering much better than we expected. Despite what happened, your heart…it's very strong."
Steve would smile back, but it would be fake, so he nods and looks back down at his bruised knuckles.
"Also, Mr Harrington, I know you said you only wanted to see family, but I've got two people in the waiting area. One is threatening us with legal action, and the other is scaring the other patients by listing and detailing phobias. I thought I recognised her from somewhere, but it was ridiculous. She looks like that director. I've forgotten the name now." The nurse screws up their face trying to remember.
Steve's eyes widen, and for the first time since he woke up, he feels something that isn’t doused in regret. He replies excitedly, "Yeah, yeah! Please. Send them in." Then he looks down at himself, "Would you mind helping me be a bit more visit-ready first?" The nurse beams at Steve and assists.
A few minutes later, Steve can hear footsteps running down the corridor, the squeak of sneakers and another knock at the door.
"Come in", he says, filled with nervous energy.
A head pops round the door, "Hey, Dingus! Having hospital fun without us? Rude!!"

Pretty lame move on ur bf's part to assume I'm fetishizing fatness and then when I stand up for myself, replying to and blocking me before I have a chance to respond. I didn't even get to read his response, I saw the notif on my phone and opened it up and his comments are gone and I can't find his account. If he assumes everyone means him harm and then blocks them before they can explain themselves they are forever cemented in his mind as being harmful which will just lead to him thinking that more and more people mean him harm and he will live out a sad, lonely and terrified existence. For his sake I hope he cultivates a thicker skin as it's is important to living. Being able to be uncomfortable but still open to people and ideas is imperative to learning stuff from others. For my part, I was joking about love handles because I think it's funny to not know parts of the body with weird names that are often critisized and used to shame people. I didn't know what hip dips were until I was 19. I knew that love handles were something in the lower torso to upper thigh region but I wasn't sure until you told me today. I pride myself on not having much body issues (appart from gender things) and very consiously not judging people on their bodies. I genuinely don't understand how he got fetishization or thinking fatness is dirty from me joking about not knowing the meaning of a word.
I'd actually love to be told how what I said was interpretted that way, so I can avoid from doing something similar in the future. So if you or he want to tell me I'd genuinely really appreciate it. I like learning and I don't like hurting people's feelings.
Tumblr media
That's literally all I asked for, to know what went wrong for my message to be misinterpretted. The heart might have come across as sarcastic, but I was trying to mimic the energy of his reply.
Sorry if this is an overwhelming text wall, I just get really upset when this happens because I don't know what I did wrong and I want to be more informed but people just block me and I have no way to stop feeling like I'm secretly a bad person and just don't know it. Also the first paragraph is kind of meanly worded, it was the first thing I wrote and I was still really mad. I reworked some of it to not be as mean but I still believe in the point I was trying to make.
first of all never put an essay this big in my ask box again. i’m dead serious i will just block anyone else who does this because i have a life and shit to do and do not want to spend my time on internet arguments.
secondly, it was a positivity post about something that is frequently insulted and belittled. just google love handles and see what comes up. REALLY not the time to make jokes.
my boyfriend states “Tell them that like. I’ve been antagonized enough so the whole “sh sh sh I don’t want to know” came across as if talking about fatness was something that had to be silenced because it was taboo or was being treated like it was some disgusting kink that had to be shielded from the public’s eyes.”
third, you’re insulting my boyfriend (whether you realize it or not) so if youre expecting me to just calmly approach this, youre dead wrong. speaking of which, really interesting that you’re saying my bf needs a thicker skin when he’s been subject to fatphobia his entire life, and then when he blocks you you send me this.
this is in fact a really weird thing to send someone. my bf can block whoever the fuck he wants and thats his business alone. and if you feel guilty about it that is not his or my problem. quite frankly the only emotion i feel right now is annoyance. i am not interested in continuing this conversation further

FANTOMETTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Since your Elden Ring adventure's nearing an end (I think?? idk) Tell me about your favourite characters!
And have some cookies too cos you deserve them!: 🍪
*OPEN DOOR* BIMBOM !!
My first adventure in the lands between is indeed toward its end (I'm 135h in I think) ! (I forgot to answered you last time sorry too XD) I just need to finished some catacombs and stuff at the mountain tops, the fire giant, Farum Azula, Mohg & Malenia (+ I reach the frenzied flame too! so I might do that too but I need to be sure to have the needle) and I think I did almost everything else ? I think ?? maybe I forgot 1-2 catacombs or a few optional bosses (oh yeah I need to do the bell bearing hunters...) but I think I might have done almost everything else ?? (don't don't ask me for all the items & papers lol XD )
I have the week in vacation so I might try to finished it this week. (Gonna try to stream my attempts at Malenia too...omg...)
So, besides it would probably take hours to talked about all the characters + I don't know everything yet but let's go with the few I liked the most I think.
Ranni my beloved ❤️ I really like her ! (wow what a surprise. But somehow I feel her quest would be more impactful + have more meaning after doing the game a first time)
I really like Iji & Blaidd too T_T
Torrent my dear companion! idk what I would have done without him XD we live quite crazy adventures !
A shame we didn't see Melina too much too... but towards the end I found the little bit of dialogue & hidden bit of lore about her super interesting ?! I know she won't take it well but Melina I just wanna help you...
Rya and Boc my beloved !!! I love them so much they need to be protected ! Miriel too :D (and Kale is cool)
Millicent !! oh dear... I was like : oh yes she's cooI ! It's sad how we first found her. But now I finished her quest and it's the first time I cried in this game ! "Come on Milli Malenia is just around the corner ! What are you even talking about ??" I feel smt is weirdly missing... I thought se wanted to see malenia... she was in the prayer room and then... (I need to post the beautiful pic I took. I wanna draw it ;-;)
I understand now why you all love her so much. I need to catch up with your fic and re read Stolen soon ! (now I will actually get all the ref and understand everything XD)
Latenna goat summon too (with Mimic, Rollo & the wolves lol) ! Can't wait to fight alongside Finlay too ! She seems to be the ultimate mvp
Oh Sellen too... maybe she's not a nice person (idk what she really done but it may be bad?) but she always was nice to me.
About the roundtable now! (I mean I like everyone except Gideon and the dung eater lmao) ! Aka Roderika (one of the best clearly! idk what I would have done without her), Rogier (he deserved better ;-;), Fia (what a really interesting character! D and his bro too), I didn't finished Hewg storyline but interesting so far...
Goldmask is fun but poor Coryhn... Hyetta too man ;-; (girl you're blind how-)
Big Boggart really start as annoying as Patches to ended up as a true bro
Nepheli is incredible ! (+ Gostoc & Kenneth amazing storm veil squad i think they're funny together XD)
Hello I love Fortissax so much too ! (one of the best boss fight for now) I need to know more about Forti and Godwyn !!! omg I have some thoughts!!!
And omg don't get me started and Vyke & Lansseax + Vyke's maiden T_T what went wrong hm ?!?!?!
I finished Gurranq quest too! Well a bit crazy but who isn't but really interesting willing to help
Oh like Alexander too ! And his newphew ! I think he's still chilling in the lava XD (I mean the other tarnished helping us are cool) and wow Diallos... I found he was a bit dumb at first... but damned
Oh Morgott !!! i understand better why people simp on him so much XD he's really cool! and deserved better too
speaking of the demigod poor Rennala ;-; and Rykard is cool but I can't take him seriously with his dumb voice XD
Yura was nice... Thops too...

"How Many Times Do I Have to Teach You This Lesson, Old Man?" with Reader to the NCOs.
Dahling I absolutely love your asks and I certainly can't say no to this one. I guess speaking in the same vein as Don Corleone, "You've made me an offer I can't refuse" lol (P.S I hope you don't mind firefighter AUs)
Tumblr media
Summary: Sometimes a simple lesson can save somebody's life
Up, up and up the team climbed, higher into the high rise building, the stairwell completely pitch black and full of a strong burning smell from the smoke that rolled across them like fog. The only lights to be seen were the small, white beams from the helmet lights, flashing here and there as everyone looked here, there and everywhere for danger.
Even in the oxygen masks, the smells were strong, the odor of violent burning as the unseen fire threatened to chew up everything in its path. (Y/N) coughed a little, a crackling wet cough as the smoke filtered through his oxygen mask and creeping into his lungs.
"Jeez, what the fuck are we even doing going up here?" Guarnere questioned. "I can't see five feet in front of me."
"We came to do our job Guarno," (y/n) told him. "And do our job is what we're gonna do so we can get the fuck out of here."
The heat seemed to rise with their climb, just by a tiny bit, yet that tiny bit had begun to become much more noticeable. Everything had begun to feel heavier, the gear, the protective clothing, even their bodies. Finally, the team reached the tenth floor.
"Alright guys," (y/n) told them. "You know the drill."
Everyone got to work immediately, scanning and searching to make sure all was set and good. A few went around the corners to begin checking the doors, but something, or rather someone on the team, had caught (y/n)'s attention.
And he nearly screamed.
"Hey! HEY!!!" he shouted. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?!"
Sure enough it had to be Shames......it was always Shames, getting his head in where it didn't belong and not paying attention. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" he questioned.
"I asked you first numb-nuts!" (y/n) retorted.
"I was trying to break open the door," Shames answered testily.
His testiness soon went out the window as (y/n) grabbed him by the collar of his black and yellow firefighter jacket. "How many times do I have to teach you this lesson old man?" (y/n) asked, the words laced with a hot and vile poison. "You check that door for heat.....you ALWAYS check that door for heat! You let loose a backdraft it'll swallow the building whole and all of us with it. DO NOT let me catch you breaking a door open without checking it again. Got it?"
Shames nodded rather meekly, his eyes a bit wide from the scolding he had just received. "And that goes for everybody present," (y/n) announced.
