>> days 25 to 28 days of 100 days of productivity
most days ive just been job hunting since i have so much time on my hands having only monday and tuesday with classes, but ive been more exhausted than i used to when i was waking up 430AM to attend 730AM to 2PM [about 7 hrs] daily for 6 days that now, my eyebags basically look like eye luggages, hahaha
productivity list
finished interview video for intro to psych at 430AM from 1050PM of 9/5
submitted the interview
job hunting
made transes for a board review ppt sent by a beloved prof of mine [cardiorespiratory anatomy and physiology]
gave luna and hoshi a bath
something i regret doing that results to me being less productive than i used to be (even during my gap year 2020 i was more productive on a daily than now) is not making my to do list before bed.
and if i were to graph my daily ... mood ?? mind ?? i feel it would just make a wave between 3 - 6 (10 being having the best mood, 0 to being a complete slump) haha. working on that, hopefully it improves to 6-8 on a daily.

Top surgery journal (long post)
12th Jan: went to bed at 10pm, prepped an overnight bag and other stuff for the hospital
13th Jan: breakfast at 6:45am bc no food 6hrs before surgery. 13:10 SURGERY. early at the hospital, was checked by the nurses, saw my surgeon, zond out four breaths after getting anesthesia. got super nauseated after being woken up, threw up 3 times between getting to my room at around 6pm and sleep past 11pm. second anti-nausea drug kicked in around 11pm, it worked, hallelujah. other than that, had two doses of paracetamol, one straight after surgery, 2nd past 10pm. kept asking @palempath to give me water by saying “I can have a little water,” and her replying, “as a treat”. my baby sis is the sweetest <3 slept for like 5 hrs, not a fan of sleeping seated.
14th Jan: woken up at 6:40am, given paracetamol and breakfast, saw the nurse, saw my surgeon, everything feels fine. caught an uber home at 10am, my mom and sis came to pick me up. watched Witcher with fam, kept getting up to walk every hour or so to prevent blood clots. taking paracetamol during the day every 4hrs, took codeine for the night.
15th Jan: went out for a walk to a nearby cemetery with fam, feeling pretty ok. still on regular paracetamol throughout the day, only ibuprofen for the night though.
16th Jan: went out to get groceries with fam, doing ok. not being able to wash my hair getting irritating. paracetamol regular, one ibuprofen for the night.
17th Jan: asked mom to wash my hair for me, feeling so much more human! went to the Horniman Museum with fam, completely fine during the 30min bus journey + walking for 2 hrs. down to only paracetamol. finally saw Crimson Peak. it wasn’t as good as I hoped xD
18th Jan: went to Greenwich, walked through the park and visited Queen’s House, walked through the Greenwich tunnel under the Thames to get to Docklands, walked all the way to the Mudchute City Farm, saw sheep, my sis loves sheep and they were the main reason we went xD cutting down on paracetamol.
Tumblr media
19th Jan: went to the Crystal Palace Park, stopped taking paracetamol. the 40min bus ride was a bit hard, felt slight chest pain, it stopped as soon as we got off the bus tho. walked for about 3hrs, felt fine. only paracetamol for the night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
20th Jan: dressings appointment, first look at my chest. got a bit lightheaded, but feeling ok. chest looking better and less bruised than expected. instructed to change nipple graft dressings every day, tape over the incisions every 2-3 days, got a second compression garment so I’ll be able to wash it every now and then. since my hospital is north from Oxford Street, we went to Lush with my sis and mom, then hit Covent Garden for Whittard and the Moomin shop c: visited the National Gallery, too. opened a bottle of red wine in the evening, had some with mom to celebrate.
Tumblr media
21st Jan: taking it slow, my sis not feeling well bc of her period, she was the one regularly taking paracetamol this time around. we went to Lewisham for some light grocery shopping, then finished watching the Netflix Witcher.
22nd Jan: stayed home and chilled, started watching the TVP Witcher, it’s as good as I remember it being <3
23rd Jan: @rei-of-jakku came over after work and we had an amazing evening <3
24th Jan: went out for @haeym‘s birthday dinner, feeling decidedly more human. had some grapefruit soju bc I bloody love soju.
25th Jan: went for a plant sale, they sold out of almost everything by the time we got there ;__; ended up going to the Wellcome Collection with mom and sis, the latter had lots of fun, me and mom enjoyed ourselves but also kept sitting down every now and then as my sis ran between displays xD it was amazing to see her so excited and interested in stuff. walked for probs 4 hrs total, feeling perfectly fine.
Tumblr media
26th Jan: saw my fam off to Victoria for their airport coach, we had to wake up at 5am since there were no trains so early on Sunday and we had to bus to the nearest working tube station D: but WE MADE IT. got myself a decaf golden honey macchiato at Starbucks on the way back home, it tasted like a turmeric latte, not a fan. but it was alright. won’t be getting it again tho. ended up cleaning my room after getting back, it was so good to reclaim my own space after having two other ppl staying with me 24/7 in there. also finished watching The Man From U.N.C.L.E., that movie is SO DAMN GOOD AAAAH
Tumblr media Tumblr media
27th Jan: been drawing the whole day, went out to top up the gas meter, didn’t do much else.
28th Jan: panicking as part of the right nipple graft scab got pushed off and I could see pink skin underneath. messaged my nurse, comes out it’s fine, was told to air the graft out for an hour so it can dry up after a shower, keep changing the dressings as usual. loosened up the compression garment a bit, it felt like it was putting too much pressure on the problem nipple.
29th Jan: felt EXTREMELY nauseated in the morning, most likely bc I put on contact lenses and got vertigo from that, spent 2hrs feeling like throwing up (1hr sitting on the bathroom floor lol). put the lenses in so I could go get a haircut, decided against it when I had to take the lenses out, but since I was feeling ok by noon I thought that I might as well still go. got my haircut, felt SO MUCH BETTER afterwards.
30th Jan: nipple graft areas scabbed over well, are firm to the touch, the problem right graft doing ok, drying up nicely. found out I have a patch on my left pec that has no sensation in it, on the right from the left nipple. feels weird to poke at it with a pen and not feel it at all. hoping the sensation will come back eventually, but won’t be too bothered if it doesn’t. overall feeling pretty good with how the recovery is going so far.
Tumblr media
31st Jan: Problem Nipple Graft™ is doing fine, healing nicely. the incision sites are very tender, but seem to have healed up for the most part. they tingle when I touch them, it’s kinda funny. looking forward to my appointment with the surgeon on the 7th. will update this post if any interesting developments happen~

Opinions needed!
7My husband starts traveling for work in two weeks. He’s going to be gone every week M-F, so he’ll only be home on weekends. One of the reasons we got our little pug, Oreo, is to keep me company while he’s gone.
Oreo is a very active and social pug, so we send him to doggy daycare every Tuesday and Thursday. He loves it! He’s also on a very predictable routine; breakfast is at 6:30 every morning (and he will wake you up!) and dinner is at 5:00 (we may not get home until 5:30, so he’s more variable on dinner time). He goes potty four times during the day: after breakfast, between 12-12:30, after dinner, and finally at 8 (”night night potties”). These times were based almost entirely out of my husband’s work schedule. I leave for work no later than 7:30 and sometimes clinic ends late (past 5). I only get to take a lunch maybe half of my work days because I’m busy with phone calls and prescriptions and stuff.
My work is aware that I’ll have some rigidity in my schedule, so that’s not the issue.. the issue is now I have no idea when to “schedule” going to the gym?
Time info:
I take about an hour to 1:15 to get ready for work in the morning. This involves no showering (it takes about an hour just to dry my hair so it’s impractical to shower in the morning)
My cardio is normally about 35-50 min. Strength is usually 50 min. It takes 5-10 to transition (cleaning machines, getting to the other side of the gym, getting water, etc)
Gym has a hot tub, steam room, and dry sauna. I love using these. I like to spend maybe 30-40 min “relaxing” (15 in hot tub, up to 10 min in each sauna if I want, and of course time it takes to change into my swim suit).
If I workout in the morning before work, I need to shower, but I don’t wash my hair so it’s only maybe 5 min in the shower/10 min to get “ready” (shower and put on clothes)
Makeup is maybe 20 more mins.
Hour info:
Gym opens at 5 M-F, closes at 10 M-Th (9 on Friday). 7-7 on weekends.
I would have to leave the gym at 6:45 in the mornings on T/Th to get Oreo to daycare or 7:00 on M/W/F to get to Oreo, get him fed and pottied, and then get to work.
I usually have 1-2 days a week I tutor from 6:30-8, and then of course, get to Oreo to take him potty. I also usually don’t know what days. I try to be flexible for the kids I tutor based on their test schedules or if there is something they are learning in class that really doesn’t make sense.
The gym has a 24-hr access center (the basement), but it’s an extra $15/mo I think? I’m not sure the exact details. It’s got some equipment but not my favorite cardio machine (well, my fav is an arc trainer but no gym has that here, so my second fav is the AMT)
We have other gyms I can also join:
Planet Fitness which is 24hr on weekdays, 12AM-9PM on Fridays, and 7-7 on weekends. This is $10/month basic + $10 start-up fee + $39 annual extra fees + a 12-mo contact ($15/mo with no contract), but no fun extras. And it comes directly from your bank account which makes me uncomfortable. I have no idea what cardio equipment they have, and I am really partial to my AMTs/Arc Trainers.
TIny’s Gym, which is locally owned. I went here for years in college. It’s 24hr access, super small with none of my favorite cardio equipment, but rarely every crowded and I feel very comfortable with their weights. $25/mo flat rate, no commitments or startup fees.
The other gyms I am not interested in trying at all.
So basically what I’m trying to decide is, when do I go to the gym? I used to go in the mornings when I didn’t need to worry about Oreo, but now that I have to take care of him, I have even less time, and I wasn’t even doing both cardio and strength, which i want to do now. Do I suck it up and stop doing my “relax” routine? Do I go twice in the day, doing a short workout after tutoring? Do I sign up for the 24 hr access area so I can go early or really late?
I just. I don’t know. Ugh.

If You Sleep Less Than 8 Hours, This is What`s Happening to Your Body Right Now
Tumblr media
According to the docudrama, Sleepless in America, coproduced by the National Geographic Channel, 40 percent of Americans are sleep deprived. Many get much less than five hrs of rest each night. Percentage-wise, teens are among the most rest deprived.
The consequences are dire, not simply for the individual that isn't really getting sufficient rest, yet for those around them. While most individuals do not provide lack of rest much thought, there are in fact lethal consequences.
Notably, "professionals currently believe that sleep deprivation might have played a role in the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the Staten Island ferry crash, and also the Three-Mile Island nuclear meltdown," the film states. Numerous individuals have actually also lost their lives to worn out vehicle drivers who merely fallinged asleep behind the wheel.
It's essential to understand that getting less compared to six hours of rest each evening leaves you cognitively hindered. Rest deprivation has actually additionally been connected to wellness results such as weight problems, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer's, 1and cancer. Anxiety as well as anxiousness conditions are likewise adversely influenced by absence of sleep.
The Importance of Staying in Sync with Nature
Maintaining an all-natural rhythm of exposure to sunlight during the day and also darkness in the evening is one critical fundamental element of sleeping well.
This was attended to in a previous interview with researcher Dan Pardi. In it, he clarifies how direct exposure to intense daytime functions as the significant synchronizer of your master clock-- a group of cells in your mind called the suprachiasmatic cores (SCN).
These centers integrate to the light-dark cycle of your atmosphere when light enters your eye. You likewise have other body clocks throughout your body that are integrated to your master clock.
One reason why many individuals get so little sleep, and/or such poor sleep, can be traced back to a master clock disturbance. In other words, a lot of individuals invest their days indoors, protected from intense daytime, then spend their nights in too-bright fabricated light.
As a result, their body clocks obtain out of sync with the all-natural rhythm of daytime and also nighttime darkness, when that happens, corrective rest ends up being elusive.
An approximated 15 million Americans also function the evening change, as well as the damaging health and wellness impacts of functioning evenings are well documented. As just one instance, 3 years of periodical graveyard shift job can raise your threat for diabetes by 20 percent, and also this risk continuouslies climb with time.
What Takes place When You're Rest Deprived?
What makes rest deprivation so detrimental is that it doesn't just impact one aspect of your wellness ... it impacts several. Among them are 5 major dangers to your psychological as well as physical wellness:
1. Reaction time slows: When you're sleep-deprived, you're not going to react as quickly as you normally would, making driving or various other potentially unsafe tasks, like making use of power tools, unsafe. One research even located that sleepiness behind the wheel was virtually as dangerous as drinking and driving.2
2. Your cognition suffers-- both brief- and long-term: A single night of resting just 4 to 6 hours can influence your ability to think clearly the following day. In one animal study, 3 rest deprived mice shed 25 percent of the nerve cells found in their place coeruleus, a nucleus in the brainstem related to cognitive processes.
Hence, if you're sleep-deprived you will certainly have difficulty refining information as well as deciding. This is why it's so vital to get a great evening's sleep before crucial occasions at the workplace or home.
For example, study reviewed in the film located that diagnostic blunders soared by 400 percent among medical professionals that had actually functioned for 24 successive hours.
Sleep denied clinical residents likewise reported a 73 percent rise in self-inflicted needle sticks and scalpel stabs, and also when driving home from work, they had a 170 percent boosted threat of having a significant automobile accident.
Research4 also suggests that individuals with persistent sleep problems might create Alzheimer's illness quicker compared to those who rest well. Among the reasons for this is due to the fact that rest is crucial for brain cleansing-- a procedure throughout which damaging healthy proteins linked to Alzheimer's are removed out.
3. Memory and discovering decreases: The procedure of mind growth, or neuroplasticity, is believed to underlie your mind's capability to manage behavior, including discovering as well as memory. Rest and sleep loss change the expression of a number of genetics and also genetics products that may be important for synaptic plasticity.
Furthermore, specific forms of lasting potentiation, a neural process linked with the laying down of learning and also memory could be evoked in sleep, suggesting synaptic links are strengthened while you slumber.
4. Emotions are heightened: As your reaction time and cognition reduces, your emotions will certainly be kicked into high equipment. This means that debates with colleagues or your partner are most likely, and you're probably reallying going to be at mistake for blowing things out of proportion.
The amygdala controls fundamental feelings like worry and anger. As talked about in the movie, an additional location of your brain called your frontal cortex, plays an essential part in the policy of feelings, and also rest is crucial for its function.
When you're well relaxed, your frontal cortex is well connected to your amygdala-- that deep emotional center-- and also functions virtually like "a break to your emotional gas pedal."
Sleep starvation triggers a detach between these two brain centers, permitting your emotions to run amok. Sleep deprival likewise plays an important role in mental disease, and has the tendency to cause even more negative psychiatric outcomes.
5. Immune function and also health wears away: Sleep deprivation has the same effect on your immune system as physical anxiety or disease, 5 which could aid describe why absence of sleep is linked to an increased threat of countless chronic diseases.
For instance, research study shows that resting much less compared to six hours per evening greater than triples your danger of hypertension, as well as females who get less than 4 hrs of slumber per evening double their chances of dying from heart disease.6
You Need Around Eight Hrs of Rest Every Night
The research studies are rather clear and most experts concur, you are seriously deceiving on your own if you believe you can do great on less compared to eight hours of rest. Eight hours of sleep is not 8 hours in bed. If you go to bed at 10 pm and also rise at 6 am, you might claim you've slept for 8 hrs. Actually, you probably spent a minimum of 15-30 mins going to sleep and also might have woken throughout the night several times.
With the development of fitness-tracking devices nonetheless, we now have accessibility to actual sleep information (as well as much more) from wristband customers. The data is rather beneficial on an individual level as well as they assisted me understand that I have to start obtaining to rest around 9.30 PM if I intend to obtain a full eight hours of sleep, which I currently normally do.
The Glorification of Sleep Deprivation
According to the 2013 International Room Survey by the National Sleep Foundation, 7 25 percent of Americans report having to reduce down on rest due to lengthy workdays. Typically, Americans obtain only 6.5 hours of sleep on weeknights, yet report needing 7.25 hrs in order to operate ideally. As noted in a previous article in The Atlantic: 8
" For some, sleep loss is a badge of honor, an indication that they don't require the eight-hour biological reset that the remainder people softies do. Others feel that maintaining up with peers needs sacrifice at the personal level-- and at least in the short-term, sleep is an undetectable sacrifice."
Modern male's propensity for equating sleep with unproductiveness (if not outright laziness) can be traced back to the heyday of Thomas Edison, that was understood for working around the clock. According to the highlighted post: 9
" Edison spent considerable amounts of his very own and also his team's energy on in publicizing the idea that success depended in no little part in staying awake to remain in advance of the technological and also financial competition." No one ... did even more to frame the problem as a simple choice in between efficient job and also unsuccessful remainder ...
Over time, kids's books as well as journals started to promote this sort of Edisonian asceticism ... Edison encouraged all Americans to follow his lead, asserting that resting 8 hours a night was a waste as well as also hazardous. "There is truly no reason why guys need to go to bed in any way," he stated in 1914."
This society of sleep deprival began with the innovation of the light bulb, and has just worsened with the proliferation of light-emitting electronic devices, which disrupt your all-natural waking-sleeping cycle. The complying with infographic, developed by BigBrandBeds.co.uk, illustrates just how your electronic gadgets damage your sleep when recruited before bedtime.10
The Importance of Attending to Rest Apnea
As gone over in the film, sleep apnea is another usual reason of rest deprival. Rest apnea is the lack of ability to breathe properly, or the restriction of breath or breathing, during sleep. Obstructive sleep apnea consists of the constant collapse of the air passage during rest, making it hard to take a breath for periods lasting as long as 10 seconds. Those with an extreme form of the disorder contend the very least 30 interruptions per hr. Not only do these breathing disruptions conflict with rest, leaving you uncommonly tired the following day, it additionally lowers the amount of oxygen in your blood, which can harm the feature of interior organs and/or intensify other health problems you may have.
The condition is closely connected to metabolic illness such as excessive weight as well as type 2 diabetes mellitus, and also according to research, 11 also a small weight decrease can stop the development of obstructive rest apnea. Shedding excess pounds could also cure it, according to one five-year lengthy study.12 That claimed, you do not have to be obese to suffer from sleep apnea. As discussed by Dr. Arthur Strauss, a dental medical professional and a diplomat of the American Board of Dental Rest Medication, factors such as the sizes and shape of your mouth, and the positioning of your tongue, can additionally play a substantial role.
If your rest apnea is associated to your tongue or jaw placement, specialized qualified dental professionals could design a customized dental appliance to deal with the issue. These include mandibular rearranging devices, developed to change your jaw ahead, while others help hold your tongue onward without relocating your jaw. Relief could likewise be discovered through speech therapy treatment called oral myofunctional therapy, which assists to re-pattern your dental and also facial muscle mass. To learn more about this, please see my previous interview with Joy Moeller, who is a leading professional in this form of treatment in the US.
How to Support Your Circadian Rhythm and Rest Better for Optimum Health
Making little changes to your everyday program as well as sleeping area can go a lengthy method to make sure undisturbed, relaxing sleep and also, therefore, much better health and wellness. I suggest you review my full set of 33 healthy and balanced sleep guidelines for all of the details, however to start, take into consideration implementing the complying with adjustments to make sure even more shut-eye:
Avoid seeing TELEVISION or recruiting your computer system in the evening, at least an hour or so prior to visiting bed. These gadgets give off blue light, which techniques your brain right into assuming it's still daytime. Generally, your mind starts secreting melatonin in between 9 as well as 10 pm, and these gadgets discharge light that could stifle that process. You can likewise download a cost-free application called F.lux13 that automatically lowers your monitor or screens in the night, which can assist decrease the damaging results if you have to recruit them in the evening.
Get some sun in the early morning, and also at the very least HALF AN HOUR of BRIGHT sunlight direct exposure mid-day. Your circadian system needs brilliant light to reset itself. 10 to 15 mins of early morning sunlight will certainly send a solid message to your body clock that day has arrived, making it much less likely to be perplexed by weak light signals during the evening. If you work inside your home, make a point to get outdoors for at the very least an overall of 30-60 minutes throughout the brightest part of the day.
Sleep in a dark room. Also the slightest little light in your room can interrupt your body's clock as well as your pineal gland's melatonin production. I recommend covering your windows with drapes or blackout shades, or using an eye mask.
Install a low-wattage yellow, orange, or red light bulb if you require a source of light for navigating during the night. Light in these transmission capacities does not closed down melatonin production in the means that white as well as blue transmission capacity light does. Salt lights come in handy for this purpose.
Keep the temperature in your bedroom below 70 degrees F. Many individuals maintain their homes too cozy (especially their upstairs bed rooms). Studies reveal that the optimal room temperature for rest is between 60 to 68 degrees F.
Take a hot bathroom 90 to 120 minutes before bedtime. This raises your core body temperature level, and when you obtain out of the bathroom it abruptly goes down, signifying your body that you prepare to sleep.
Avoid magnetic fields (EMFs) in your bedroom. EMFs can interrupt your pineal gland and also its melatonin manufacturing, and also might have various other adverse organic impacts. A gauss meter is called for if you wish to determine EMF degrees in various locations of your residence. Preferably, you must switch off any type of wireless router while you are resting. You don't need the Internet on while you're asleep.
Use a health and fitness tracker to track your sleep. Chances are you're not getting almost as much rest as you think, and using a physical fitness tracker that monitors your sleep can be an useful device to assist inspire you to obtain to bed previously so you can get 8 hrs of sleep. When I initially began making use of a fitness tracker, I was striving to obtain 8 hours of sleep, but my Jawbone UP commonly tape-recorded me at 7.5 to 7.75. Part of the equation too is going to sleep earlier, as the majority of us have to obtain up at a predetermined time.

How can I save up/learn how to budget when I'm doing part time work in uni? I could be saving up for a holiday or planning to move out and/or planning to do my Master's after my Bachelor's. Let's say I'm earning $20/hr and doing 15 hours/week for the next 3 years?
Hi there! Great question! I’ve written posts about some tips for Saving Money 1 and Saving Money 2, so here they are for reference :) To more specifically answer your question
SPENDING MONEY
Change your way of thinking (if you haven’t already). We all need money to live comfortably; without it you’ll struggle on a daily basis. Hence, it’s very important to learn to budget. But at the same time, budgeting for budgeting’s sake can give you feelings of anxiety and frustration, and even lead to conflicts with others who are less thrifty.
So, strike a balance. Don’t spend recklessly, but don’t constrain yourself so much that if you were to die tomorrow, you would not have spent a dollar of your hard earned cash on yourself or your loved ones.
A good way is to consider whether purchasing something is a good idea is to think whether it is going to give you a good experience. Some people say you should only purchase something if it’s an experience, but objects can symbolise things like accomplishment for sentimentalists, I recommend the Konmari method although it’s idealistic, but temper the advice with a bit of practicality and discretion.
Never spend more than you earn!
BUDGETING
Have an emergency fund of at least 6 months’ living expenses before you touch anything. This is like a recommended rule of thumb from financial experts, just in case you suddenly lose your job or are unable to work. Save up more if you’re in an industry where it’s very competitive and hard to find a job straightaway.
Use a budgeting tool! You can either use Microsoft Excel if you want something more flexible and suited to your needs, or you can find templates available online. These are very helpful when you’re just starting out and aren’t too sure what to do. You only need to pop in some numbers and it’ll make a suggested budget for you.
I recommend this website for budget templates. They’ve got yearly/monthly/weekly budgets.
Have both long and short term budgets - for large project saving and day to day living, respectively.
Work out how much you are able to save in each dollar. If living at home/rent-free, save 50c in a dollar. If renting, save 20-30c in a dollar.
HOW TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO SAVE MONEY
Have a calendar that you can put ticks or crosses on each week depending on if you met the budgeting goal - gives you an overview, and not wanting to break the line of ticks is motivating!
Have a separate Saver account. I find myself reaching to spend less if I have to consciously transfer money from the Saver account into the Daily Transactions account to use it.
Use cash when you go out. When you’re holding $100 in notes, it feels a lot more expensive than seeing $100 in digitalised text; there were studies done showing people spend more using a card vs. cash.
Break notes as soon as you can. Store all the spare change into your pocket and have a piggy bank at home where you’ll put the coins into as soon as you get home. Because when you withdraw from the bank you get a bunch of $50 or $100 notes, so seeing that stack at home deplete really quickly (even if it’s just being changed into coins) is also really motivating!

Tips To Improve Productivity While Working From Home
Corporations across the world are forced to shut down operations from offices due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic and employees persuaded to opt for working from their homes to ensure minimum physical contact. This could lead to detrimental consequences, but with the right planning and preparation, this might just be the solution to avoid mass scale epidemics from spreading. In such circumstances, as humans, the feeling of indolence and procrastination is only natural. Hence, it is imperative to practice productivity to avoid lethargy from taking over.
Honestly, working at home for extended periods can become frustrating, especially with the distractions that come with remote working. The reality of working from home isn’t merely about complications brought about by a new work-life led by teleconferencing from your computer but lies in the overall environment and the challenges influencing your productivity and creativity.
In this article, we are sharing some thoughts to help you optimize your efficiency and boost your productivity. This will not only assist you through your work-from-home phase during the COVID-19 quarantine but make you a better professional suited to the remote working role.
1. SCHEDULING AND ORGANIZING YOUR WORK FROM HOME MORNINGS
“When I work from home, I wake up, put on a pot of coffee, and start working immediately — much earlier normal working hours. I only start making breakfast once I’ve hit a wall or need a break. I’m a morning person and find I can get a ton done in the early morning hours, so this works really well for me.” – Lindsay Kolowich
Your morning commute to the office prepared you for your morning routine right from waking to getting ready for the upcoming workday. So you have a schedule and organized routine, which needs to be adapted to the new home office routine. At home, initially, the transition from your bed to your desk in a short span of time can be problematic. Working from home requires setting yourself for a routine and ensure that you stick to it. Waking up and spending 10 mins practicing breathing techniques and welcoming the day with a smile will be a good start. Some warm-up exercises are useful to wake up your body if you are not a fitness person, but if you are someone who likes to keep fit, this is the best time to complete the exercise regimen. Follow this with a getting-ready-for-work routine, have a coffee or protein shake, a balanced breakfast and hit your work from home desk with a killer instinct to get cracking on the day’s tasks.
Implementing a routine can help you retain focus and productivity throughout the day. An imbalanced or changing routine can cause you to become slouchy and influence your productivity.
Sleeping on time and getting good 7-8 hours of sleep is essential to proper work from home success.
2. CREATE A TO-DO LIST AND ACHIEVE MORE REMOTELY
“Subtracting from your list of priorities is as important as adding to it.” – Frank Sonnenberg
When working from home, you might feel like your own boss, which you are no doubt. But remember you are an employee too and responsible for the delivery of work assigned to you. A To-Do list will go a long way in ensuring that you complete your official tasks on time, thus having enough time for personal work and chores. Working from home does not mean you don’t have a personal life so ensure you keep the separation alive.
Keeping track of what you do, when you do it, and how long it takes you to do it, can benefit you in many ways. Furthermore, you will be more willing to focus on priorities once you understand your own success at making lists and achieving the tasks within a timeline successfully.
There are many ways to approach a to-do list, and all have the same objective – to help you get through a tough, dull, monotonous day with the least stress. Some amazing to-do lists are available as mobile apps such as 24me, todoist, remember the milk and more.
You can just download the app and start listing down your tasks. For eg: ‘To complete three website content writing projects by 7pm today’. And you are sorted with the to-do list for that day. Isn't it easy? This is how most digital marketing agencies, corporate and successful working individuals complete their tasks efficiently and effectively.
3. OPT FOR A DEDICATED WORKSPACE AT HOME – ITS YOUR OFFICE AFTER ALL
“Have a place you go specifically to work. It could be a certain table, chair, local coffee shop – someplace that’s consistently your ‘workspace’. It helps you get into the right frame of mind.” – Sam Mallikarjunan
Wooden-desk-with-rolling-chair-and-shelves-near-window what makes you more productive at the office? The office environment, of course. If you work from home, it doesn’t mean that you can’t have an office. The whole premise of remote working is that you WORK FROM HOME. The challenge is to create a space similar to an office, where the HR dept keeps playing with the space to keep it exciting and live all the time. A dedicated workspace to get started with can aid you in being more focused and productive. No Beds and Couches, please.
Embrace a particular space of your house for official chores, and you will notice that you are more attentive and determined. Keep making minor changes every weekend and you will find it pleasing to be at work every day. Your home office needs to set up and our article on 7 Essential Components to Create the Best Work From Home Office will help you deliver amazing results.
4. UNPLUG YOURSELF FROM DISTRACTIONS – YOU ARE AT WORK
“I remove all social networks from my toolbar bookmarks. Even if I don’t mean to browse them, some uncontrollable impulse subconsciously clicks on them when I experience downtime. You can get sucked in without knowing it (or even intending to), so eliminating the gateway to those networks keeps me on track.” – Alec Biedrzycki
Technology has become a significant aspect of our everyday lives, and similarly, a distraction from routine errands. Remind yourself to take a break from the hassles of your phone – turn off your phone, unplug your television, and log-out of social media before starting your work.
You will feel more focused, which will directly influence your productivity. As such, you will be able to get your work through on time and efficiently.
5. USE NATURE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, going outside of your house is not an option, but that doesn’t mean you cannot embrace nature and gain from its goodness. Connecting with nature is vital for your productivity – sit in your garden, balcony, or position plants beside your workplace or on your work desk.
Studies have proven that plants, such as Peace Lily and Golden Pothos, tend to improve productivity by improving an individual’s focus and stimulating tranquillity. A Harvard research found that working in a green building improved awareness by a whopping 26%, decreased sick leaves by 30%, and improved quality of sleep by 6%.
Do you remember all the offices and workplaces you like? now think about the greenery, plants and flowers and you will realise that every cool office has some greens.
6. SLEEPING FOR SUCCESS
“Three meals plus bedtime make 4 sure blessings each day.” – Mason Cooley
It is no surprise that sleep is a crucial factor for, not only our well-being but improved productivity as well. A survey conducted on employees of four corporations in the United States found, not getting enough sleep can make you lethargic and weary, hence, influence your productivity destructively throughout the day.
While sleep is important, maintaining a body clock is important too. This requires sleeping at the same time daily and waking up at the same time every day. Once the body clock is set you will not need any alarms. This might seem difficult at first but is a super tip for high productivity.
While 6 hours work for some and some vouch for the 8-hour sleep cycle, you will find many who can work wonderfully with short power naps in-between. If your work commences late in the evening, a minor nap would be refreshing before working on assignments.
7. START YOUR WORKDAY WITH A BALANCED BREAKFAST
“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I definitely have a hearty breakfast before I do anything.” – Mayer Hawthorne
A happy and successful power day needs energy coupled with exercise. You can’t hope to get work done with an empty stomach, as you will be constantly hungry and salvaging through the kitchen for a morsel of food. And the kitchen being so accessible and you being the boss of the kitchen, can lead to health complications due to overeating and eating irregularly. A balanced and nutritious breakfast is an important meal of the day for many.
Commence your day correctly by consuming a proper breakfast to provide your body with ample energy – this involves proteins, carbohydrates, and fats! For instance, eggs and toast have both fats and proteins, hence can be a part of your daily power breakfast. And if you are calorie conscious check out this recipe for the egg white frittata. Then there’s the all-time favourite Oats and Bananas you cannot stay away from. To make this, mash up half of a banana, and combine it with ½ cup of rolled oats, ½ cup skim milk, one teaspoon of vanilla (optional), 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. Stir the ingredients together in a jar, seal, and refrigerate overnight. Serve hot or cold in the morning topped with chopped nuts like almonds, pistachios and walnuts.
8. LISTEN TO MUSIC TO KEEP YOURSELF RECHARGED
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” – Plato
It might seem clichéd, but it’s true! And there’s Research to prove that music can improve cognition and productivity by reducing anxiety levels. Create a playlist with soundtracks that relate to your emotions and tasks, such as soothing tunes. Don’t go for dull or overtly relaxing music you turn to in the evenings when with your loved ones.  You can search for words like “Calm Music’, “Music for Focus” etc on youtube and find some really good music that will help you become a better work from home employee.
Take video games or movies as an example; they use music during distinct scenes to increase focus. Hence, it is only logical that music can improve concentration during work, therefore, improving productivity.
9. DONT MISS TAKING SHORT BREAKS AND THE ODD LONG BREAK
Breaks are essential because they allow for motor functions to return to normal, thus avoiding aches and pains. Additionally & scientifically speaking breaks help your prefrontal cortex rest and recharge so you can stay focused on what matters most.
Working for long stretches (which is typical these days) without breaks leads to stress and exhaustion. You need to refresh your mind, replenish your mental resources, and help keep the creative juices going for the rest of the workday.
The good news that when you work from a home office, you have better control over your break times. What does a break from work mean? A brief walk, watch a few DIY videos, going to your reading list to read a few articles, hit the news app and get yourself up to date, and then return to your task rejuvenated.
What is the ideal length of the short breaks from work? SHORT breaks of 5 to 15 minutes every hour work best to take you through a workday smoothly. Take a more extended break of 30-45 minutes every 3 to 4 hours. Remember your lunch is part of the long extended break.
Several surveys have concluded how working from the comfort of your house can affect productivity. For instance, a 2012 research observed how telecommunication influenced productivity can, principally, make an employee “dull”. Yes, all is not hunky-dory about working from home, but it’s not that bad, if, if you are committed to succeeding and implement the above tips to work from home. It’s about you ultimately.

christmas eve
this year is the second time i’ll be spending christmas in NYC! it’s snowed quite a few times already and we experienced a snow storm recently. the weather fluctuates between 45~ (not that cold) to 31~ (kinda cold) and i adjust the layers i wear accordingly. with the right winter gear, winter hasn’t been so bad. i think i feel less cold being here this year, because i’ve already been in the area long enough to gradually transition vs. coming here from sunny california and experiencing such a drastic weather change. i’m glad i got to experience a snow storm, because there was no snow storm at all last year, and it barely snowed.
matt has been on electives, which is only 3-5 hours of work M-F. we’ve never spent this much time being home together. on one hand, it’s nice. on the other hand, it can be annoying sometimes because it’s a small space. i go back and forth between wanting him home, and wanting some space lol. i’m happy that he finally has time to unwind for more than a week, after consistently working for like 8 months now without a vacation. he’s been sleeping so much - will sleep the full night and then take naps during the day. he also recently got the pfizer vaccine and had arm soreness and fatigue afterwards. i realize i’m also slow at adjusting. i have to adjust to him being away, but also adjust to him being at home. it’s a lot to learn with his erratic schedule. oddly enough, he tends to sleep earlier when he doesn’t have to wake up until 7:30am than when he has to wake up at 5:30am.
i’ve been inspired by my childhood friend/running buddy D who recently passed her DPT exam and can officially practice as a physical therapist. on the side, she makes succulent arrangements. it started as a hobby she picked up in PT school, and she sold them to friends/family to fund her education. it evolved into a small business this year while she was studying for boards. this past weekend, she was able to host a pop up shop in front of a boba shop and had a great turnout. not gonna lie, my initial reaction was comparison and i felt like a real loser. not only does she have a stable career that she’s passionate about, she’s also successful in her small business. i think i’m also way more prone to comparison with her, because we’re the same age and have similar backgrounds (our dads are best friends). anyway, i had to remind myself to be happy for her, and that she got where she is because she put in a lot of hard work.
i completed the ux/ui bootcamp back in feb 2019, but i have done very little for it afterwards. i’m still helping my dietitian friend out with her website. she recently gave birth to her second child, and i went on a design hiatus after my move - so it’s been a quiet few months. it’s easy and comfortable to do my current HR work while also being compensated overtime. however, WFH seems to be coming to an end in the next 3-6 months and it’s finally time to move forward with my life and find a new job.
i learned that my brother and i share similar qualities. neither of us have developed much grit in life, and we just give up when things get hard. we’re the type of people content with coasting by in life. luckily, my parents are able to financially support themselves, but i feel guilty that i don’t have the mentality that many asian americans (children of immigrants) do: of doing financially better than the last generation. my dad hustled and took a lot of risks to get to where he is today. perhaps when i have children or a sense of responsibility over someone else’s life, i’ll have an innate strive to hustle harder. my brother has a BS in chemical engineering, and a MS in electrical engineering. he’s been at the same job since he graduated college, even though i’m sure he could be compensated way more elsewhere. for whatever reason, he’s doing an online BS degree in computer science as well. however, it’s a course that goes at your pace. it’s been like two years and he still hasn’t completed it.
for a long time, i used to look up to my brother who is 2 years older than me, and think - if he was making X at age X, then i’m okay. however, i should be looking up to more ambitious people - upward comparison, not lateral comparison haha - if i want to become inspired.
in regards to ux/ui, i always felt i wasn’t “passionate enough” about the work. like i would blank during an interview because i couldn’t articulate why i was doing this. i’m scared because of my lack of experience (transitioning careers), and scared just because i lack confidence. i haven’t had a formal interview in almost 4 years. i’m pretty sure i scared myself into not trying at all, just to avoid failure. and that’s what i want to improve on. to just try. and develop grit. finish my portfolio. and at least apply to jobs. i was fortunately able to maintain my current job amidst a pandemic and have an easy and restful year, but now, it’s. time. to. put. in. WORK!

A Walk in the Park
A short while back, my classmate and I took a trip to see the Tipu Sultan’s summer palace and Cubbon Park, both located roughly in the center of Bangalore. Cubbon Park – known as the ‘lung’ of the city – is an oasis of green replete with winding trails, bamboo thickets, playground space, grassy expanses, and trees tall and dense enough to temporarily muffle the sounds of the surrounding city 1. Unfortunately, getting to the park entailed navigating traffic-congested highways and roads for extended stretches, cutting through a densely-packed commercial district, and being subjected to a constant bombardment of both air and noise pollution 2. Experiencing the tranquility of a quiet stroll through the park was an occasion for me to think about the costs of development, the importance of green space/vegetation for public health, and to draw parallels to my own concrete metropolis of NYC.
Tumblr media
One of Bangalore’s nicknames is the “Garden City” due to its reputation for having an abundance of greenery and tree cover. Several Bangaloreans I’ve spoken to, however, have remarked that this term is now a gross misnomer, as hyper-rapid development and land use changes over the past few decades have drastically reduced the amount of vegetation and public green space in the city. Our local neighborhood of Koramangala is fortunate to have relatively bountiful tree cover, but it isn’t too hard to imagine that much of it has been sacrificed to accommodate a ballooning population and growing economy.
Tumblr media
Article 39 of the Indian Constitution directs the State to “ensure that...the material resources of the community are so distributed as to best subserve the common good” 3. Surely, parks and public green space ought to be included in the inventory of material resources that subserve this public good. One could argue, however, that economic growth and development are also good for Bangalore. How to strike an appropriate balance?
Tumblr media
Eminent domain laws in India allow the State to expropriate private land (much of it formerly agrarian) for ‘public purpose.’ Some scholars 4 complain, however, that loopholes in the law have enabled the State to sell off this land to private commercial interests for the purposes of development. (I imagine that these types of sales have helped catalyze the IT industry/tech boom in Bangalore) 5. The end result: land that was intended to serve as a public resource – a commons for the people – is transformed into a commodity for the profit of private industry. Some may benefit enormously from these land use changes (India’s educated IT professionals, for instance). Others, not so much 6.
To get a sense of what has been lost, I dug up this map from a study conducted by the Indian Institute of Science 7, showing the drastic changes in Bangalore’s land-use over time:
Tumblr media
Other public resources that rightly belong to the commons but have been sacrificed in the era of rapid urban development are clean water (which I discussed in a previous post on the so-called ‘water mafia’ and which is quantified in the graph 7 below) and clean air.
Tumblr media
As reservoirs have been drained to accommodate developmental build-up, clean water – like green space – has become commodified and sold at markup to those who can afford it. Below is an example of a private tanker truck supplying water to a restaurant near St. Johns, which I suspect is being done without any oversight from a central authority.
Tumblr media
But what about clean air? That is every person’s birthright and can’t possibly be expropriated and commodified, right? Well peep this Fortune article from 2016, which I originally thought was an Onion article: Smog in China and India Have Given Birth to a New Industry: Bottled Air.
“In May, a Canadian company that claims to sell “100% Pure Rocky Mountain Air” announced that it would start distributing its product in twin packs of 3 and 8-liter bottles to the Indian market, for around $20 and $40 respectively.”
Writer and cultural critic Matthew Crawford has argued that even our very sense of mental peace and calm – relatively abundant, coincidentally, in places like parks – are things that we increasingly have to pay for. He uses the example of airports: the wealthy pay for the privilege of enjoying the quietude and privacy of the business-class lounge, while the rest of us are forced to contend with the noise and the constant stimulation of the airport proper 8. Another example: in the hospital, if you want the privacy and quiet of your own room, it will come at a steep price – a situation that has many parallels to ‘VIP suites’ in American hospitals.
One of the attendings I met during my first week in Bangalore described the city colorfully as a ‘sensory assault.’ Public parks like Cubbon are great because they are reservoirs of peace and tranquility – respites from the daily sensory onslaught that everyone ought to be able to enjoy (for free!). Whilst walking through Cubbon, I was reminded of how lucky I was to grow up across the street from a park and playground in NYC and how fortunate I’ll be to be steps away from Central Park during my residency. I was so glad to learn, via Wikipedia, that “the roads around [Cubbon Park] are closed for traffic from 5:00 to 8:00 am every day to provide more safety and fresh environment for morning walkers and exercisers” 9. Finally, a victory for Bangalore’s pedestrians (who I feel are generally shafted in favor of drivers/cars...)!
One last note about the environmental consequences of destroying urban green space – it tends to make a city hotter. Check out the below map 10 of NYC, showing a pretty direct correlation between areas of denser vegetation and lower average temperatures. Some life-long Bangaloreans I’ve chatted with have noted wistfully that when they were kids, the temperatures in the city were significantly cooler, to the point where they would need to put on a sweater in the morning to stave off the a.m. chill. Those days, it seems, are long gone.
Tumblr media
To place things in perspective, here is a comparison of green space/vegetation in Bangalore vs. NYC:
Tumblr media
Speculating on why preservation of public resources/the commons has been under-prioritized as a political issue, Dr. Koshy noted – quite provocatively, I thought – that “Indians… do not understand the nature of societal or social responsibility which is not just taking care of yourself and your family…We have to put the cart before the horse. This means enough water, food, shelter, clothing, education, jobs, power, transport, etc., for everyone, not just for some” 4 11. I thought his assessment of the Indian public was perhaps a bit harsh, and didn’t adequately account for the sometimes difficult tradeoffs between acquiring things like ‘jobs’ and ‘power’ (often attained via economic growth) and securing resources like water (often achieved via responsible environmental stewardship and conservation). His sentiment did, however, seem to be consistent with the overall spirit of Article 39, which defends a sense of collective responsibility and collective destiny in India.

2 weeks later
So sorry guys!! Almost 2 weeks ago I promised an update but right after that I had some more stuff go down. So, here’s pretty much what’s happened between now and the holidays!
#1 I got a 2nd job with sorting with Amazon at a nearby facility. I put boxes on pallets, that’s about it. But along with working at Gamestop (I was mornings with Amazon and nights with Gamestop) I didn’t have much free time until after January.
#2 Spent most of January still getting used to the schedule. I went through a bit of an emotional shake-up because of some employees at work I was very fond of. At the same time, I was trying to mend my relationship with my husband. We’ve been through a rough few years.
#3 My hours at Gamestop were getting less and less (as per usual this time of year) so on my husband’s bday weekend I took him to NY. I want to say it helped a lot in making us better together.
#4 My daytime shift with Amazon got moved to nights, from 7 to 11 pm, 4 days a week. It was an adjustment but it’s better than before when i had to rush my son to school so I could be at work on time.
#5 I went through another emotional rollercoaster a few weeks ago when I thought my wallet was stolen. Turns out I dropped it and it was found by a sweet waitress who contacted me on a FB acct i rarely visit, so it took a few days for me to see her message.
#6 During those days, I got an unexpected call from my new manager at work... Gamestop now considers working at Amazon as a “conflict of interest” So after 10 years with GS...I quit. My manager tried explaining to HR (who ultimately made the choice) that I do not sell for Amazon, I only sort, but they still told me I had to make a choice. My manager understood why I quit. “They pay you more and give you more hours than I can,” she said.
#7 Even though I’ve grown mostly used to my new job (which is a huge change when you worked mostly retail for 20 years) It’s not where I want to be. I wake up each morning saying to myself, “This is not what I want to be.” I want to be an author. I finally gathered up the courage to contact an editor and get the ball rolling on making that dream a reality! We’ve already chatted and are working out the details of what I require from her. Crossing my fingers!!
I guess that’s it! It’s only March and lots has happened. Oh, I forgot to mention, we had a bad storm here yesterday. On top of having car trouble while my kids and my daughter’s friend was in the car, a tree fell in our yard! It didn’t damage anything and no one was hurt, but man! I am having bad luck with trees in the last 6 months!
I hope you’ve all been well! Please let me know how you’ve been! How’s life, my dudes?

Just the One, Two by Panny | Jessica Jones | Jessica/Trish | 10k They say you should never meet your heroes, but what about when you've been sort of in love with them since they broke your mother's marble sink?
Daylight by @notbecauseofvictories | Star Wars | Rey/Luke | 3k “Can I ask what you think it is you’re doing?” Luke says. His voice is only a little strangled. The silence that falls in its place is awkward, thick as sand. “Oh,” Rey stutters out. “Is that not—?” “No,” Luke grits out. “Please put your clothes back on.”
run all the lights by @fahye | Captive Prince | Damen/Laurent | 8.5k He’s a slim, too-pretty boy of twenty, and the men of this particular underworld talk about him as though he’s an open flame, a sparking engine near a pool of gasoline: volatile, and not to be handled. Kid’s got balls of sheer fucking steel, Damen’s contact said. Which must be true, because having just lost a race against Damen for pink slips, Laurent looks him straight in the eye and says, “Double or nothing?” in a voice like vodka poured straight from the freezer.
They Say It's Mighty Fine by apocryphal | Teen Wolf | Sterek | 23k "Hello. This is Alpha Vernon Boyd, calling from Camp Remus about—""Derek?" Talia asks, confused. "You're calling about Derek? Is he okay? What happened?""Oh, boy." Melissa blows out a breath. "All right. Is he hurt?""He's been there for two hours, what could he possibly have—" John pauses. "Hang on, Camp Remus? Like the werewolf camp?"
León de mi Corazón by clockheartedcrocodile | The Exorcist | Tomas/Marcus | 16k | Not for the first time, Marcus wishes he were a poet. Tomas drinks up beautiful words like wine, practically thrives on them. He thinks of his own clumsy attempt at a letter, begun and re-begun until the whole thing had been consigned to the rubbish bin. It was laughable.Besides, he thinks, Tomas and Jessica wrote letters because they could not have each other.“You have me,” he says, quiet enough that Tomas won’t wake.
Things Worth Knowing by Femme (femmequixotic) | HP | Drarry | 163k After the Battle, Harry thinks he's left Hogwarts for good, but Minerva insists that all students return for an Eighth Year if they wish to sit for NEWTs in the spring, and Harry needs those NEWTs to go into the Aurors. Draco's just grateful not to be in Azkaban. Or the Manor. He's hoping he can steer clear of Potter this year and grapple with his own problems.
Under the Covers by ToAStranger | Stranger Things | Steve/Billy | 72k Steve is (maybe) a little bit still in love with Nancy Wheeler and (maybe) trying to figure himself out-- between the night terrors and the babysitting and the general weirdness that is Hawkins, Indiana-- before he graduates.Billy Hargrove fits in there somewhere (probably).
the party never ends by brawlite | Stranger Things | Steve/Billy | 7k Billy wants a fight from Steve Harrington. He'll do just about anything to get it, too.
February

don't just stand there by brawlite | Stranger Things | Steve/Billy | 3.5k Steve kisses a stranger in a club in a desperate attempt to spurn an advance from an unwanted admirer. Turns out, it's not really a stranger at all.
there's nothing wrong with me (loving you, baby) by ToAStranger | Stranger Things | Steve/Billy | 4.6k | “Mr. Hargrove,It has come to HR’s attention that you have, once again, used company property incorrectly. Please refrain from using the break room as a work out facility during your lunch hour. If you are in need a gym recommendation, I'm happy to provide you some. Remove your weights from the lower cabinets at your earliest convenience.Regards, S. Harrington”This isn’t the first ridiculous email Steve has had to send to Hargrove, and Steve sincerely doubts it will be his last.
in waves by lymricks | Stranger Things | Steve/Billy | 45k Plant your feet, Billy wants to scream at him. I’m going to bowl you over.
can't you see them? (can't you feel them?) by ToAStranger | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 8k | They're breathing down your neck.
Little Pockets of Upturned Loneliness by SeptemberEndings | Stranger Things | Gen | 5k | Months pass, and nothing bad happens to Will.
isizathu by black_nata | Black Panther | T’Challa/Erik | 8k |  "What do you want?" T'Challa whispers. Almost like he's pleading. All Erik wants to do is wrap his fist around that smooth throat and make him beg some more.
falling for you in hawkins, indi-fucking-ana by LazyBaker | Stranger Things | Steve/Billy | 31k | Billy gets his shit together. Steve figures some stuff out. They fall in love.
thank god you see me the way you do by LazyBaker | Stranger Things | Steve/Billy | 6k |  Five times Billy has had sex and one time he made love.
Secrets Make This Town by Oop | Stranger Things | Steve/Billy/Hopper | 5k | Hopper knows that Billy Hargrove sucks cock like he was born for it and he knows Steve Harrington is hung like a pornstar. He knows these by accident.

another city (better than this one) by notbecauseofvictories | Star Wars | Gen, Ben Solo & Lando | 6k | “You really should be more creative with your aliases,” Lando says mildly. “I’ve had every anagram of ‘Skywalker’ flagged since the first time you tried to run away from home.”
his hands so cold they shake by plinys | FBAWTFT | Percival/Credence | 4k |  A soul mate is meant to be a blessing, but Percival feels anything but blessed.
We Keep Meeting by scioscribe | Hamilton | Hamilton & Burr | 4.5k |  In which Hamilton finds himself a little more non-stop than even he expected, and Burr doesn't know why he's surprised that even death can't make Alexander Hamilton lie down and be quiet.
There Aren't Any Stars in the Sky by Ambrosia | Star Wars | Reylo | 4k | “Why are you here?” Rey asks. She appears to be meditating. Even his muscles remember the basics. Her eyes are peacefully closed.“Your mind is most open when you Jedi meditate, ‘letting everything go’,” he tells her, striding around in a vicious, predatory circle. “Which you would know if you had an at least halfway-competent teacher.”
Found Wanting by sellertape | The Bright Sessions | Mark/Damien | 2k | It didn’t take superpowers to know what Mark wanted him to say. He wanted him to lie. It didn’t take superpowers to get Damien to do what you wanted.
pull out the insides by SpineAndSpite | The Bright Sessions | Mark/Damien | 4k | “Stop,” Damien says again, more insistent this time.“I’m not doing it on purpose.” Mark's heart pounds in his ears and he sees Damien’s hands shaking. God. They shouldn’t have started talking about sex. Shouldn’t have filled in the colors and shadows to this pencil outline of a sketch forming between them. They shouldn’t have given it a name.
Life Is Not A Love Song by DetectiveJoan | The Bright Sessions | Mark/Damien | 4k |  “Oh, you know the old saying — once bitten, twice mildly paranoid that everyone you’ve ever met is secretly working for the shady government agency that kidnapped you.” Mark's voice is sing-song through the dressing room door.
I Want You To Want Me by Ryuutchi | The Bright Sessions | Mark/Damien | 4k | Food, scotch, sex-- I don’t know, Damien; there's a lot of good things in life.
(coming for the king, that's) a far cry by lipgallagher | Stranger Things | Steve/Billy | 17k |  billy and steve 'pretend' to be gay boyfriends in love for what is essentially just extremely small-time personal gain.

Seeing in Color by what_alchemy | Pacific Rim | Newt/Hermann |  The Dr. Geiszler Hermann had found in the publications — printed pages worn with constant handling and tucked into his briefcase for easy access — was an eloquent scientist whose work functioned at a level far above almost anyone else Hermann had ever encountered in the field, and yet he neither patronized his readers nor expressed himself in the inexplicable jargon which so infected much academic work.

The humiliation is that the sitter usually has an entire evening of strategies in advance of her when we obtain house." Goffe additionally raised an issue that I wager maintains numerous couples awake during the night: "What do you do when you are wed to an evening owl and also intend to go to bed at 8 p.m.?" "That's a wonderful question," says Maas, a psycho therapist who has invested the majority of his 40-year job encouraging individuals to get more rest.

What Is The Best Time Of Day To Run?
Tumblr media
The brief solution is late mid-day-- unless you normally run at some various other time.
A couple weeks ago I presented of bed on an uneventful Thursday morning as well as went with a very easy 6-mile run from my flat. I covered my normal out-and-back option in 45 minutes, which appears to be foregone conclusion when I lace up the sneaks before 10 AM on a weekday. Four days later on, at 5 PM on Monday, I ran the specific very same route at a similarly simple initiative and the watch read a couple of ticks over 42 mins.
It was virtually a 3-minute improvement over the very same program in similar problems merely a couple of days later, with the only noticeable distinction being the time of day I navigated my run. Later, I stood there momentarily asking yourself, "Did my fitness really enhance that a lot over the weekend break or are my workouts simply more effective later in the day?"
Of program, it's highly unlikely that I ended up being 7 percent fitter in just four days-- specifically since I have not been doing anything in the means of tough workouts recently-- however there is probable cause as well as study to reveal that running later on in the day could very well contribute to better performance.
Looking back to the morning I hit the trail approximately half a hr after waking up, one of the most significant thing I bear in mind was the length of time it took me to obtain going. Initially I couldn't relocate much faster compared to a crawl, however by 2 miles into the run I had actually seemingly gotten up and also established some type of rhythm. When I left on the very same path a few days later, nonetheless, I located my stride nearly promptly and was amazed by the simplicity of my effort and also just how much life I had in my legs. It was like night and day, no pun planned.
Aside from my very own observations, a March 2009 short article released in the New York Times says that different studies by scientists have actually revealed that athletes have a tendency to carry out far better in workouts that occur in between the hrs of 4 and 8 PM, which is when body temperature level as well as performance-relevant bodily hormones are at optimal levels to sustain exertion. Among those studies, conducted in the Department of Kinesiology at the College of William as well as Mary in Virginia, ended that, "the data demonstrated substantial chronobiological oscillation in peak torque, ordinary power, topmost operate in a solitary rep, and overall work per set ... these data suggest that topmost muscular tissue performance does vary within the section of the day when workout commonly takes place."
What does this mean? Quite simply, time of day does have some result on power and efficiency. The even more time you give your body to warm up as well as get loose, the far better it will run. In this regard your body resembles a parking lot outdoors. When you visit start it up very first point on a cool early morning, you could have a difficult time turning the engine over, and once you lastly do, it putters down the road awhile till the internal temperature level reaches an optimal level. Later on in the day, however, you'll see the same auto launches a lot quicker and runs much more efficiently compared to it did earlier in the day. The human body operate in similar way.
For many individuals, nonetheless, life doesn't always permit for late-morning, afternoon or evening workouts. In some cases it just has to obtain done first point in the morning, and fortunately for you early bird there is research that reveals a relationship between circadian rhythms and also the time of day during which someone works out. A 1989 study on "Circadian Specificity in Workout Training" by Hill, Curetan and Collins ended that "topics who trained in the early morning had fairly higher post-training thresholds in the early morning, while subjects that educated in the afternoon had relatively greater values in the mid-day (p less than 0.05). This is proof of circadian uniqueness in training as well as supports the idea of preparing physical prep work to accompany the moment of day at which one's vital efficiency is scheduled."
So whether you're an early riser or an evening owl, your workouts are visiting be most reliable at your habitual workout time. While muscular tissues are absolutely stiffer and power levels are lower first point in the morning, if that's when you're utilized to running after that it deserves adhering to your schedule and also allowing your body to keep its routine rhythm. But if you're trying to find boosted power degrees as well as intend to obtain going a little faster compared to you generally would, try running a little later in the day ideally. Bear in mind, a little selection never ever injured anybody.
So, what time will I run tomorrow? The solution is simple: whenever I can locate the time!
