#and In Jason's case canon

Genuinely disgusted by how people keep victim blaming Diluc, saying Diluc is the source of all of kaeya's problems. And some of the people slandering Diluc are Diluc fans themselves!
Don't get me started on the "jokes" this fandom writes about him. I personally don't think physical violence or 'characters getting blamed for something they didn't do' are funny jokes.
I'm so tired.
Wish people would realise how shitty of a person kaeya is. It doesn't help that Genshin rewrote kaeya to make him likeable.
(Kaeya and collei are friendly with each other, Kaeya babysitting klee when she already has albedo)
Sorry for rambling. I'm sick of how terribly Diluc is getting treated. And I am avoiding most of the fandom, but I still end up running into these people.
Tumblr media
Honestly, like Diluc low-key has been getting shafted for a while. In the fandom and in canon.
And the only reason I think that he's been kept in Mihoyo's basement is because his lore is just so end game heavy. So that's why he hasn't popped up again. I think Mihoyo realized that the traveler could just ask Diluc shit, and he'd be able to solve like 70% of their problems.
As for the fandom. I personally am both fascinated by fandom as a method of looking at people's social interaction and as a method of studying their interruptions of media in a creative way. But also holy cow does it suck to be in here sometimes. And I feel I am desensitized to people's shitty takes on Kaeya and Diluc. Partly because well. I'm a Jason Todd fan, so I've been having the shit beating out of me since like 2014 (when I got into superhero comics). And I do see a lot of parallels between fan interruptions, Bruce's relationship with Jason and Kaeya and Diluc. Like Bruce has deeply wronged Jason. And I'm not talking Under the Red Hood, I'm like talking RHatO #25 and whatever the hell was happening in Gotham War (I'm honestly trying to forget that). And so has Kaeya. Like Man is not that stupid, his decision to tell Diluc that was entirely selfish. You have to have like no emotional intelligence to do what Kaeya did. And Kaeya had consistently proven he does have that. He had a great moment of weakness and now continues to be too weak to actually apologize. He's also dense in a way I'm not a fan of. Because if you really think he's gonna be a spy and betray Mondstadt I would ask you to take a literature course to expand your critical thinking and analytical skills. Because it would make no sense. Like he might for like half a second, but then he's gonna turn around.
Anyway. If you want a piece of advice, the only advice I can give you is to not engage and let it roll off your back. You're welcome to come here and bitch if you want. As I am the Hate Crepus corner. And I'd say I'd warmed up the Kaeya but honesty I think I've just warm up to how *I* write him which is different.
On a positive note, I'm working on a theory that Jason Todd and Diluc Ragnvindr are Lesbian Wraith characters. No, I will not explain at this time.

You know what piece of fanon irks me? The idea that Dick resents Jason and Tim for being Robin or that Damian is the only Robin that Dick gave his approval to.
Tumblr media
Batman #416
This is the first issue we see Nightwing and Jason Todd's Robin together it's 18 months after Bruce fired Dick (because he got hurt and cus Bruce though he was gonna leave the nest anyways it's a thing). Dick gave Jason his approval, he was mad at BRUCE for lack of communication and being Bruce but it never carried over to Jason.
And in A Lonely Place of Dying Dick
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Takes Tim to the suit basically goes "I can't be Robin. ME, I, DICK GRAYSON can no longer be Robin. Robin is a teen about *put a hand at Tim height* this tall, black hair, good at acrobatics, not afraid to tell Batman off, and a good detective, maybe he even found out Batman and Robins identities. That is Robin, but I am Nightwing not Robin. Yep. A Robin needs to be all those things. Now I'm off to save Batman!" then later looks on fondly as Tim pleads his case to Batman, backs him up, and thinks that Bruce needs to think with his heart not head and take on a new Robin. It's not explicitly written out in the text but all of this is Dick giving Tim permission to be Robin.
TL:DR: DICK GAVE ALL THE ROBINS HIS APPROVAL NOT JUST DAMIAN!

Okay, we all know being a demigod is a shit position. Its scary and gets you killed in really nasty ways. But I feel like being a Big Three Kid has to be the shitiest position in all the shit positions.
Like, imagine being Thalia Grace. Your dad is king of the gods, lord of the skies. Led a war to get rid of a tyrant. And the only thing you get is his scorned wife AND brother, who both try to kill you (with one technically succeeding), a drunk of a mother, and brother who you thought was dead. Oh, wait, he’s not dead! No instead he was used as an offering to appease your dad’s wife and help fight in a war and prevent mass destruction.
Or maybe you can imagine being Percy. Son of the sea god, the stormbringer, the earthshaker. You get to live with a disgusting, abusive man for around 6 years. Who smells like literal shit. All because your scent as a demigod is too strong, BECAUSE of who your father is. You see things that you aren’t supposed to see and do things that people can’t do and go years thinking something is wrong with you. That your the problem. Then you get to the one place where you’re supposed to be save. But! Here is the kicker! You’re not! Your uncles hate you and you’ve been accused of stealing a symbol of power. A series of events that will kick off a war, and guess what. You’re a center point for it. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood.
Mhm, but then there’s Hazel. Daughter Pluto, god of the underworld and riches. But that doesn’t really change anything does it? She’s still living in 1930s America, in a red state. One where confederate flags still hang if you go deep enough into the city. She go to a school where the kids are supposed to be just like her! They still don’t like her tho. She’s got no idea who your father is, only that he left her with a parting gift. Only it’s not really a gift. Sure, she can pull rubies and diamonds from the earth, all worth millions. But anyone who’s ever gonna touch it will die. She lives with her mother, a woman gone so mad with greed it kills her. And Hazel, by the way. Laying dead Alaska, inhaling oil. But it doesn’t end there! She can’t have her mother suffering for eternity, can she? The answer is no. Hazel gets to spend the next 70 years in the Fields of Asphodel. It still doesn’t end! Because when she’s brought back to life, she gets to fight in a war against giants, her sad story seemingly never ending.
Nico’s a son of one of the Big Three, one of the most ancient and most powerful. But most people look at him as something bad, something not worth taking a second glance at. Something too look away from, mostly. He’s from the 30s, spent years in a magical time casino with only his sister at his side. She doesn’t stay for long though, she dies soon after they discover their heritage. And he doesn’t remember his mother much, a name without a face. A face without a name. He survived an attempted assassination at 2, though it wouldn’t be the only time his was life was threatened. He clings to his sister, even though she’s dead. He’s the son of the god of the underworld, is he not? There had to be a way, and there is. Only she won’t talk to him, she seems more concerned with communicating with the guy who got her killed instead. She chooses rebirth, and he decides to lay it to rest. She’s not coming back, and he has a war to fight in. (He gets stuck in a jar and forcibly outed a few years later, but that’s a lot to get into for now.)
Jason Grace is a pillar of New Rome, their golden boy, their American boy. He’s a son of Jupiter, a natural born leader. He’s been at camp for as long as he can remember, he wants to be praetor soon. He’s had a rocky start, but maybe he’ll be one of the lucky ones. Retire a veteran and live a long life with Reyna in New Rome. Only that never happened. He has no idea where he is, there’s a girl holding his hand, and she’s cute but it feels wrong. They get attacked and people come in and call him a Greek demigod, familiar, yes, but still wrong. It doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t put things into perspective the way it does for Piper and Leo. He’s goes to a quest to rescue Hera, the name sounds wrong. He nearly dies but at least he remembers who he is. He spends the next 6 months trying to get back home, even though he isn’t too sure on where or what home is. He gets there, eventually, but it doesn’t stop there. He’s dragged on quests and battles and fights in the war but at least he survives it, he’s still there. Apollo needs help, he and Piper give him aid. He gets dumped. He doesn’t get to he a veteran in New Rome. Not with Reyna, not with Piper, not with anybody. He doesn’t get kids or grandkids. No, he gets shot down, another demigod buried.
You could be any one of them, really. Pick your poison, but I guarantee you won’t like any of them. Spending years trying to find a place where you belong, where you feel safe. Only for it to never come.
Percy, who, if you really look at the books, isn’t really all that well liked until he’s at least 2 years into camp. Only to then be sidelined because the courages, brave, fearless daughter of Zeus is back from the dead. Nico, the son of one of the most feared and hated gods. Who has death written all over him, who excludes it so much animals can smell it and humans can sense it, who’s been ostracized and pushed off to the side since he was 10. Hazel, who was treated like disease as soon as she stepped foot on camp soil. Who’s gone her whole life looked as something that’s cursed, that will only bring misfortune, a bad omen.
Shit positions, all of them.

what if jason wasn’t ever pit mad? what if his actions were his own regardless of how the family try to find something to blame? what if maybe possibly nothing got twisted, he just feels hurt and betrayed and rightfully angry to an extent that he cannot ignore, what would he have to say to dick or tim or bruce in that circumstance? he is so angry and the joker isn’t even around to deflect any of it. he cant come home because someone is in his place. the one person he always turned to wasn’t there. he doesn’t know who he is anymore and he can never go back to how things were. bruce didn’t believe him when he said the guy fell was so quick to assume the worst so why would he ever believe them when they try and tell him they miss him
I’m not sure if this is meant for a particular Au or in a more general sense, but I see what you’re getting at.
Yes I love pit madness, but this is also something super interesting (and important!) because it really plays into psychology.
Jason is suffering from PTSD that, as far as I know, has never been formally acknowledged or treated in a healthy way (the way it was in Gotham Knights, which, once again, I love that game). And you know what’s also part of PTSD? Anger. Anger management issues. Anxiety. Volatility. The whole nine yards.
Of course those symptoms don’t apply to everybody who has PTSD, so please don’t quote me on that, but for Jason they do.
He comes back to life. His previous trauma of being literally beaten within an inch of his life and then blown up only made worse by the experience of having to crawl out of his own grave. And then he gets taken and manipulated by a cult of assassins, made to believe Bruce replaced him with a new kid as soon as he was in the ground.
It’s… not a good combination for the kind of trauma Jason’s been through. If we assume he was in a vulnerable state of mind to begin with (which is entirely valid with what we know went down) and then subjected to ruthless training that didn’t teach him how to handle his trauma in any other way than violence? To direct his anger and despair at something tangible (Bruce and Tim and Joker) instead of coming to terms with the root of it all?
I think at that point Jason was grasping at straws. Something to keep himself afloat with. If he didn’t have his anger and his resentment towards his old life and the people in it, he would have been left with only fear and sadness and perhaps even a sort of vacancy that’s very difficult to handle without help.
The anger and the violence was better than the alternative.

For obvious reasons there's a lot of AUs looking at the various "what if"s of Jason's resurrection and return to Gotham going differently, and something I always think of with that is the fact that in the immediate aftermath of Jason's death Bruce removed every picture of him from the Manor and just refused to acknowledge his death at all.
Tumblr media
Like, if part of Jason's whole Thing is feeling that his death didn't leave any impact and Bruce didn't really care, this sure wouldn't help change his mind. Even in different circumstances his return would probably be pretty Not Great in terms of emotional fallout.
(Just a microcosm of the fundamental level of Communication Failure Bruce is capable of.)

Cass, Steph, Bruce, and Damian are the only bats that remember Tim exists, smh.
Dick will act super friendly towards Tim, but it's only because he feels guilty about not knowing this stranger that definitely acts like he knows him. The dude kinda looks like the stalker he put a restraining order on a few years back?
Oh fun it's my turn to be super confused friend why would dick not remember tim? - he is literally the reason why tim is here at all it's all dicks fault he could of just ignored tim but nooo - like dicks really put up zero fight tim was like hey I know who batman is and dick was just like chill guess your coming home with me- dick half of gotham knows who batman is just take the kid home!! I swear batman puts up a bigger fight against adopting random teens

I ship Percy Jackson and Jason Todd for the same reason people ship Elsa and Isabela Madrigal. Also because it's better than shipping Percy with Luke or Jason with his siblings at any rate and also also because i think it's funny

How many here realize that Jason post-resurection is a continuation to what retconned Jason into a rotten apple/problem student ? That, this is RH's statu quo?
"He came back wrong" is fanon. It's NOT the narrative at DC. The Utrh movie even debunks that when Jason says, "Does it make it easier for you to think the Lazarus pit turned me rabid?" It's not Jason being an unreliable narrator either. That's also fanon. Nothing in the official material ever comes to contradict him here. You'll find plenty *heroic* characters to supports that there was always something wrong with Jason in the comics. Sometime Jason agrees with them.
How many here care that Red Hood exist to valid and cement everything DC said is bad about Jaybin within the 15 years of Batman comics where Jason was dead (but not absent)?

Realizing the adultification and demonization of Duke and Damian is just. Not gonna stop. El oh el
#demonization more in Damian’s case#and not in the characters can’t do bad things kinda way#but in a writers and readers are so racist they’ll never even acknowledge that they don’t grant him the same grace they do anyone else#especially their white faves in comparison#and with the way they keep tryna spin Ra’s and Talia as being like. perfect parents maybe slightly absent or evil back then but family ppl#at heart it’s just gonna be more excuses to demonize a brown child bc now the very basis of his previous attitude will be gone#i mean for some of you it was never existed or acknowledged but there’s a certain bitterness I’m feeling when y’all can point to a panel#written by someone who’s only read WFA for background and say ‘see its canon that he’s just a murderous asshole for no reason!’#same mfs who can’t tell me three bad things Tim’s done that they don’t fw bc either they’ve never read it or they justify it in their minds#and for Duke it’s like. just removing every aspect of his character bc god forbid u pay attention to a black child who’s not an easy stereo#that’s the difference Damian’s early appearance was very easy for a lot of y’all to stereotype even and at times especially Talia Stans#for Duke u can’t call him ghetto and u can’t call him one of the good ones bc there’s no ‘bad’ ones as a comparison point so he’s just a guy#he’s a good bro :) he’s there :) u don’t know enough about him to speak :)#and honestly if they keep going down the Al Ghuls are perfect route they might shoehorn Damian near that position too#that’d make it three for three when you involve cass. wow the poc of the family being reduced to no character besides propping up the yt#cast. maybe if we go that route and it happens to all three of them some of y’all will make a ‘fandom has a problem 🥺’ post and dip#like always el oh el so exhausted#batfandom racism#tim drake#jason Todd#dick grayson#bruce wayne#Lemme be a bitch today#Duke cass and Damian Stan’s I won’t clog ur dash with this#actually some of u cass Stan’s are….#I’ll just say it a lot of you are racist as fuck and can’t say shit about cass besides she fights good and deserves the world#batfam#wfa#anti wfa

Immagine ao3 in DC
So I had a thought, how crazy must the ao3 arthors notes be in DC. I mean not only do they have supervillians, and superheros, but they also have the hell site that is Gotham. Like imagine:
“So I know it’s been a few years since I updated, but life’s been a bit crazy. I got murdered by joker, somehow came back to life, got dunked in a pit of green anger goo by my dad’s crazy ex, tried to murder my dad and little brother. Made up with said dad and little brother. Found out my dad had a kid with previously mentioned crazy ex. Dad died. Dad then came back. All while going from the yongest of 2 to the second??? oldest of approximently 8+ sibblings.
Anyways heres the next chapter of my Batman/Bruce Wayne fic”
Or
“Sorry I’m a few hours late on updating, the bank I was at got robbed so I was stuck there until Nightwing and Signal showed up. I can confirm that Nightwing’s ass is as nice as they say, it will now be incorperated into this fic.”
Or
“Sorry updates might slow down a bit, my parents got joker gassed, and I’m apparently a Wayne now??? I think??? anyways my new sibbling are extreamly chaotic and have been abosolutly monopolizing my time leaving me with little for writing.”
I immagine that sort of sinario isn’t even that hard to belive (at least for the gothomites)
Or
“I know this fic is late, I had to go to metropolis *shudders* for work today and there was a bomb go off, and DESPITE the fact that a.) I wasn’t ingured, b.) they were already very busy and c.) there wasn’t even any gas or anything, the paramedics refused to let me leave claiming things like shock and trama. Like we haven’t all experianced 10 times worse MULTIPLE TIMES this past month, they only let me go when Superman came over and said that “they’re from Gotham, from what I’ve seen not much can phase them they’re proboly fine.” So anyways, here’s your weekly searving of Superbat”
Or
“So I know I said this wouldn’t be up until the weekend but I had to go to *whispers* Gotham for work, and THIS CITY IS ABSOLUTLY INSANE I AM TERRIFIED TO LEAVE MY HOTEL ROOM. Anyways I now have some extra free time, depending if I get murdered or not the next chapter might be up early as well.”

all of this happened because of you, and you weren’t even around to see it
JASON TODDISM! So true! Would love to see a more in-depth post from you about this or just thoughts you have.
mostly i love the idea of exploring jason and his reaction to his own martyrdom. like he is sort of objectified in the aftermath of his death and made to symbolize all of these different things to different people and i can't imagine what it's like to come back to life and have to deal with what everyone made of you in their own mind as a means to cope. bc yes they do have a right to cope with their grief each in their own way but at the same time it's still not fair to jason to be made a martyr when he never actually asked to be one. and i think it would have been way more interesting to explore that awkward tension between jason and people like bruce or barbara or even tim. esp tim tbh, bc he has the least right to make of jason in his own mind what he did, even though it was also unfair to him to constantly be measured against jason out of bruce's own fear, which was also a valid feeling to express, and so on and so forth. grief and death are complicated bc everyone is entitled to their feelings but at the same time they are also in some way not. there's always going to be two sides to that coin and exploring that could be such a good way to expand on jason as a character. a mutual and i were talking yesterday about that article i linked on my blog, and this quote really stuck out to us wrt jason:
Tumblr media
bc jason's entire modus operandi as the red hood is self sacrifice. he utterly rejects his own humanity so as to render himself capable of what he does as the red hood bc he believes no one else can or will take upon that responsibility, and some of it is out of a near deranged sense of idealism, but some of it is also definitely out of anger. and it's interesting to think about the hypocrisy of what jason does bc he wants to reject what everyone else believes he is but in so doing he also ends up rejecting himself. he's still walking around the world as a ghost, an apparition, even though he's back to living. and that is really haunting and tragic and surreal to think about
