Best Friends as Sibling Games I Played

Sonic & Tails: All of them, but especially; "I'm not touching you, I'm touching the air in front of you!" and hiding eachothers things in impossible places around the house.

Amy & Cream: Making stuffed toys and Sylvanian families have outrageously dramatic storylines; Pulling faces at eachother when hopefully nobody is looking; Pretending they can speak a secret language together.

Babylon Rogues: Knockdown ginger from their bedrooms on the ship (you have to catch them before their safe in their door, often leading to a fight and getting slammed in the doorway).

Shadow and Maria: Ask "but why?" until the other cracks, but neither of them ever cracked before the techs on the ship chucked them out of the lab ("but why?").

Shadow and Rouge: Play cheat with increasingly stupid cheats that they don't call out, e.g. "5 Jacks, I promise" "7 Queens and a Bee" "3 King's credit cards". Their deck of cards is a mix of 3 incomplete playing sets, Pictionary and Articulate cards, and some pieces of paper with doodles on. Omega gets very angry.

Silver and Blaze: Think-Fast! with everything. All things are thrown, none with care. Faces are not off limit, and in fact are bonus points.

Sonic and Knuckles: Kick each other under the table; poking wars; licking the icing off the cake before the other gets it.

Team Chaotix: Think-Fast! but it's Charmy being thrown. Also, general pranks around the house, especially on Vector, who insists he's too old.

So You've Finally Switched to Firefox: a Brief Guide to a Some Very Useful Add-Ons.

This post is inspired by two things, the first being the announcement by Google that the long delayed Manifest V3 which will kill robust adblocking will finally roll out in June 2024, and the second, a post written by @sexhaver in response to a question as to what adblockers and extensions they use. It's a very good post with some A+ information, worth checking out.

I love Firefox, I love the degree of customization it offers me as a user. I love how it just works. I love the built in security features like DNS over HTTPS, and I love just how many excellent add-ons are available. It is a better browser than Chrome in every respect, and of the many Chromium based browsers out there, only Vivaldi comes close.

There are probably many people out there who are considering switching over to Firefox but are maybe putting it off because they've got Chrome set up the way they like it with the extensions they want, and doing all that again for Firefox seems like a chore. The Firefox Add-on directory is less expansive than the Chrome Web Store (which in recent years has become overrun with garbage extensions that range from useless to active malware), but there is still a lot of stuff to sift through. That's where this short guide comes in.

I'm presently running 33 add-ons for Firefox and have a number of others installed but disabled. I've used many others. These are my picks, the ones that I consider essential, useful, or in some cases just fun.

Adblocking/Privacy/Security:

uBlock Origin: The single best adblocker available. If you're a power user there are custom lists and scripts you can find to augment it.

Privacy Badger: Not strictly necessary if you're also running uBlock, but it does catch a few trackers uBlock doesn't and replaces potentially useful trackers like comment boxes with click-to-activate placeholders.

Decentraleyes: A supplementary tool meant to run alongside uBlock, prevents certain sites from breaking when tracker requests are denied by serving local bundled files as replacement.

NoScript: The nuclear option for blocking trackers, ads, and even individual elements. Operates from a "trust no one" standpoint, you will need to manually enable elements yourself. Not recommended for casual users, but a fantastic tool for the power user.

Webmail Ad Blocker: The first of many webmail related add-ons from Jason Saward I will be recommending. Removes all advertising from webmail services like Gmail or Yahoo Mail.

Popup Blocker (Strict): Strictly blocks ALL pop up/new tab/new window requests from all website by default unless you manually allow it.

SponsorBlock: Not a fan of listening to your favourite YouTuber read advertisements for shitty products like Raycons or BetterHelp? This skips them automatically.

AdNauseam: I don't use this one but some people prefer it. Rather than straight up blocking ads and trackers, it obfuscates data by injecting noise into the tracker surveillance infrastructure. It clicks EVERY ad, making your data profile incomprehensible.

User-Agent Switcher: Allows you to spoof websites attempting to gather information by altering your browser profile. Want to browse mobile sites on desktop? This allows you to do it.

Bitwarden: Bitwarden has been my choice of password manager since LastPass sold out and made their free tier useless. If you're not using a password manager, why not? All of my passwords look like this: $NHhaduC*q3VhuhD&scICLKjvM4rZK5^c7ID%q5HVJ3@gny I don't know a single one of them and I use a passphrase as a master password supplemented by two-factor-authentication. Everything is filled in automatically. It is the only way to live.

Proton Pass: An open source free password manager from the creators of Proton Mail. I've been considering moving over to it from Bitwarden myself.

Webmail/Google Drive:

Checker Plus for Gmail: Provides desktop notifications for Gmail accounts, supports managing multiple accounts, allows you to check your mail, read, mark as read or delete e-mails at a glance in a pop-up window. An absolutely fabulous add-on from Jason Saward.

Checker Plus for Google Drive: Does for your Google Drive what Checker Plus for Gmail does for your Gmail.

Checker Plus for Google Calendar: The same as the above two only this time for your Google Calendar.

Firefox Relay: An add-on that allows you to generate aliases that forward to your real e-mail address.

Accessibility:

Dark Reader: Gives every page on the internet a customizable Dark Mode for easier reading and eye protection.

Read Aloud: A text to speech add-on that reads pages with the press of a button.

Zoom Page WE: Provides the ability to zoom in on pages in multiple ways: text zoom, full page zoom, auto-fit etc.

Mobile Dyslexic: Not one I use, but I know people who swear by it. Replaces all fonts with a dyslexia friendly type face.

Utility:

ClearURLs: Automatically removes tracking data from URLs.

History Cleaner: Automatically deletes browser history older than a set number of days.

Feedbro RSS Feed Reader: A full standalone reader in your browser, take control of your feed and start using RSS feeds again.

Video Download Helper: A great tool for downloading video files from websites.

Snap Link Plus: Fan of Wikipedia binge holes? Snap Link allows the user to drag select multiple hyperlinks and open all of them in new tabs.

Copy PlainText: Copy any text without formatting.

EPUBReader: Read .epub files from within a browser window.

Tab Stash: A no mess, no fuss way to organize groups of tabs as bookmarks. I use it as a temporary bookmark tool, saving sessions or groups of tabs into "to read" folders.

Tampermonkey/Violentmonkey: Managers for installing and running custom user scripts. Find user scripts on OpenUserJS or Greasy Fork, there's an entire galaxy out there of ingenious and weird custom user scripts out there, go discover it.

Browsing & Searching:

Speed Dial 2: A new tab add-on that gives you easy access to your favourite sites.

Unpaywall: Whenever you come across a scholarly article behind a paywall, this add-on will search through all the free databases for an accessible and non-paywalled version of the text.

Web Archives: Come across a dead page? This add-on gives you a quick way to search for cached versions of the page on the Wayback Machine, Google Cache, Archive.is and others.

Bypass Paywalls: Automatically bypasses the paywalls of major websites like those for the New York Times, New Yorker, the Financial Times, Wired, etc.

Simple Translate: Simple one-click translation of web pages powered by Google Translate.

Search by Image: Reverse search any image via several different search engines: Google Image, TinEye, Yandex, Bing, etc.

Website Specific:

PocketTube: Do you subscribe to too many YouTube channels? Would you like a way to organize them? This is your answer.

Enhancer for Youtube: Provides a suite of options that make using YouTube more pleasant: volume boost, theatre mode, forced quality settings, playback speed and mouse wheel volume control.

Augmented Steam: Improves the experience of using Steam in a browser, see price histories of games, take notes on your wishlist, make wish listed games and new DLC for games you own appear more visible, etc.

Return YouTube Dislikes: Does exactly what it says on the package.

BlueBlocker: Hate seeing the absolute dimmest individuals on the planet have their replies catapulted to the top of the feed because they're desperate to suck off daddy Elon sloppy style? This is for you, it automatically blocks all Blue Checks on Twitter. I've used it to block a cumulative 34,000 Blue Checks.

Batchcamp: Allows for batch downloading on Bandcamp.

XKit Rewritten: If you're on Tumblr and you're not using whichever version of XKit is currently available, I honestly don't know what to say to you. This newest version isn't as fully featured as the old XKit of the golden age, but it's been rewritten from the ground up for speed and utility.

Social Fixer for Facebook: I once accidentally visited Facebook without this add-on enabled and was immediately greeted by the worst mind annihilating content slop I had ever had the misfortune to come across. Videos titled "he wanted her to get lip fillers and she said no so he had bees sting her lips" and AI photos of broccoli Jesus with 6000 comments all saying "wow". Once I turned it on it was just stuff my dad had posted and updates from the Radio War Nerd group.

BetterTTV: Makes Twitch slightly more bearable.

Well I think that's everything. You don't have to install everything here, or even half of it, but there you go, it's a start.

Xkit: the best tumblr related add on. with many customizable options, xkit not only enhances your experience from a visual standpoint, but provides some much needed accessibility tools

AO3 enhancer: some basic enhancements including reading time and the ability to block authors and tags

Return of the YouTube Dislike : pretty self explanatory

Youtube non-stop: gets rid of the annoying "Video paused. Continue watching?" popup when you have a video in the background

SponsorBlock: gives you options to skip either automatically or manually sponsors, videoclip non music sectors and discloses other type of sponsorships/paid partnerships

Enhancer for YouTube: adds some useful options such as custom play speed, let's you play videos in a window and most important of all, it allows you to make the youtube interface as ugly as your heart desires. I can't show a full image of what it looks like because i've been told its eye strainy and i want this post to be accessible but look at this <3

PocketTube: allows you to organize your subscriptions into groups

FINDING STUFF

WayBack Machine: you probably know about this site and definitely should get the add on. this allows you to save pages and access older versions with the click of a button. while you can search wayback using web archives, please get this one as well as it allows you to easily save pages and contribute to the archive.

Web Archives: it allows you to search through multiple archives and search engines including WayBack Machine, Google, Yandex and more.

Search by Image: allows you to reverse image search using multiple search engines (in my experience yandex tends to yield the best results)

SteamDB: adds some interesting and useful statistics

Augmented Steam: useful info specially for browsing and buying games

TF2 Trade Helper: an absolute godsend, lets you add items in bundles, keeps track of your keys and metal and your recent trades, displays links to the backpack tf page next to users profiles and more. look it tells me how much moneys i have and adds metal to trades without clicking one by one oh may god

IN CONCLUSION: oooooh you want to change to firefox so badly, you want to delete chrome and all the chrome clones that are actually just spyware and use firefox

HOW TO USE MOZILLA ADD-ONS ON YOUR PHONE

if you already use firefox on android, you'll know there are certain add-ons compatible with the app, some of them even being made just for the mobile version such as Video Background Play FIx. while most of them are pretty useful, some more specific ones aren't available on this version of the browser, but there's a way of getting some of them to work

you need to download the firefox nightly app, which is basically the same as the regular firefox browser but with the ability of activating developer mode. you can find how to do that here. once you've enabled it, you need to create a collection with all the add ons you want. i wouldn't recommend adding extensions if the creators haven't talked about phone compatibility, but XKit and Shinigami Eyes should work

also, don't tell the government this secret skater move, but you can try using both the regular firefox browser and nightly so you can have youtube videos in a floating box while you browse social media.

Hey hello everyone.

I have not been super active lately (I’ve been kinda busy and life’s been a little crazy) BUT

I won’t leave you entirely empty handed. You guys voted for an OC ramble so Here you go!!!!

Because OMG I’m feral and they’re all I think about! There’s a LOT of info because I love them, and want to ramble so if you’re interested there’s more below the cut

SO let’s start with the main 4 I’ve had in my brain since I was like. 15

Meet the U.F.O.S.

What’s U.F.O.S. Stand for? Universal Freelance Operation Specialists ofc. They’re mercenaries! Got a job you need done? They do it no matter what star system or how dirty the job!

The team themselves are considered high level fugitives by the intergalactic administration (but that doesn't stop them from causing more chaos) and without even knowing they actually kick started the rebellion against the administration! Some people call them heroes while others call them criminals.

As for the actual members of the team:

◇Zai is always looking to get into trouble. He's the wild of the group and despite his cheery demeanor he's actually quite unpredicatble. He was rescued from an underground intergalactic fighting ring (similar to underground dog fighting rings) and most of those violent tendencies carried on with him. He was also outfitted with painful upgrades and augmentations intended to improve his battle abilities. He often avoids physical contact with people he doesn't know well but is rather touchy feely with the rest of the crew (especially Ango who he loves to pester). He's still relatively fresh from the underground fighting scene and still battles with night terrors and violent tendencies as a result

♧Ango is a techy guy who's last nerve is hanging by a thread. He's the brains of the operation and honestly is tired of always being the smartest one in the room. Despite being great with tech he doesn't really know how to deal with emotions well. Growing up emotions were never really rewarded in his family so he struggles to embrace things that involve feelings. He's the straight man and tries to keep things on track even though he often gets carried away himself. Defensive, prideful, and grumpy He's the perfect target for Zai's incessant pestering. He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and values hard work above all else.He's on the intergalactic administration's top 10 most wanted list due his dangerous skill with tech and a rumored hacking fiasco that caused an uproar in the administration. His body is soft and stretchy like an earth slug but minus the slime so he's able to slip through small spaces with ease.

♡Gidget is a care taker/ accompanying android originally built to guard and take care of a rich aristocrats daughter. She was intended to be upgraded to an older looking model when the girl she cared for grew too old for a doll like companion. Eventually taking on the role of a personal nanny/bodyguard.However, Under a new intergalactic ruling AI as advanced as hers were dubbed sentient and were no longer allowed to be used as free labor. Not wanting to have to pay Gidget (or treat her like a person) she was cast out with the trash. After a few years of scraping by and repairing herself with scraps and spare parts she was taken in by Captain Mars and repaired by Ango before joining the U.F.O.S. Despite her small and cute stature she is actually equipped with borderline illegal high grade defense weaponry and combat programs and acts as the muscle of the group! Her toy like design makes most people mistake her for a child companion bot to which she angrily corrects that she is an unowned sentient AI. She struggles a lot with her self image, solely due to the fact her hardware doesnt match her software. Forever stuck looking like a child's toy and underestimated. Eventually in a failed mission Gidget gets damaged beyond repair. Luckily Ango is able to save her personality and memory chips and transplants them into a new body made custom for her. The Team missed her terribly for the few months it took to rebuild her.

♤A notorious Phantom thief and criminal Mastermind, Mars has been avoiding capture for years and has become a master at all kinds of things. She's bold, head strong, confident, and a jack of all trades. She's the one who formed the U.F.O.S. and is the heart of them all that keeps the team together and everything running like a well oiled machine She gets tired of Ango and Zai's antics (so she says) but adores her team. Their health, and happiness is her top priority. She considers the team to be her own family and treats them as such. With a powerful force of fire and dragon like features She's a force to be feared and a sight to behold. Her only known injury being the scar over her left eye and her tattered left ear. It's this very same scar that left her having a hard time trusting others, being very selective about who she lets close to her. Her past before she broke out of prison and formed the U.F.O.S. is shrouded in mystery. All anyone really knows is that she has a sister back on her home planet and that they don't get along well.

I've had the idea for the U.F.O.S. Webcomic for forever but i always had trouble nailing down a few plot points. The one thing thats never changed is the bond of the team being the main focus of the whole thing. A group of misfits who fit together, and who care about eachother more than anything else in the universe.

Cybil and Sophie!!!!

☆Cybil Calaway

Cybil is a Half Siren, and lead singer and guitarist to a garage band in her home town (Here in the reference sheet provided she's 19). Unlike Sophie who attends the local private academy, Cybil attends the local highschool and has a reputation akin to the cliche "Bad girl" But the truth of the matter is Cybil is unapologetically herself, which a lot of locals consider to be rude or brash. She's a little blunt and sarcastic but has a big heart and cares deeply for those close to her. She's extremely passionate about music and writes all the song her band preforms. And despite her punk rock appearance, she's actually quite kind and often helps the members of her community wherever she can! She also helps her older siblings and her father at his grocery store.She has a total of 7 siblings, 2 of which have already moved out for college. One of her siblings is her twin sister Pheobe, who tragically dies in a car accident when they were 26. Cybil and Sophie broke up when they moved to different parts of the country but Cybil often remembers Sophie as one of her first great loves and the one that got away. After getting a degree in Musical composition Cybil wound up becoming the manager of her younger sister Aubrey's pop rock band and lead the band to great success! She and Aubrey both took a couple of years off from touring with the band to grieve Pheobe (and for Cybil to adjust to now taking care of Pheobe's daughter, Allison)

♡Sophie Delavigne is A rich werewolf girl who's a bit of a goody two shoes (She's 18 in the reference sheet).Except when she's with Cybil.

Despite being the poster child for a perfect, preppy, rich daughter, Sophie actually struggles a lot with identity issues. Having done whatever her family wanted of her growing up, now in her senior year of highschool she's in a panic trying to figure out who she is and what she wants to pursue in college. Upon meeting Cybil she slowly begins to find herself and enjoys the person she is when they're together. With Cybil's help Sophie realizes she wants to become a writer and possibly run her own publishing company!

Sophie has always had a friendly rivalry with her older sister Solene, and during their college years they competed to try and be named the next head of the family. Somewhere along the line Sophie gave up the competition to instead focus on her studies and personal goals, which is what lead to her sister taking over her father's company. After college Sophie slowly worked her way up the ladder. She was extremely upset when her father bought out the company she worked for (and she believes any future promotions will be her father's doing).

In my original idea for the webcomic they met in their senior year in highschool only to break up when they move to different colleges and then reconnect about 9 years later

Sage of Swords Chapter 2: Scars of War/Don’t Be Afraid/Prayers Repeated

So, chapter 2 thoughts. First off, oof, poor Link. A comment said it best when they said Link was doing Bad. Y’all, Link is doing bad, and will be getting worse because her entire world just fell apart. Like, when Zelda got poofed away in the main game, she was totally unharmed, suddenly super safe, and surrounded by a world literally tailor-made for her. Zelda fits in the Ancient Hyrule way more than she does in the modern day. And she can inherently feel that all the things she loves—her friends, the people, etc—are safe because Link is there to protect them.

But Link was literally molded by the modern Hyrule. All Link’s skills are geared towards surviving modern Hyrule, her ability to socialize tied to that open, trusting Hyrule where everyone is banding together happily to survive and thrive. And it was surrounded with things that feel comfortable to Link. She traveled all over Hyrule before BOTW, so things are familiar, if only in that nostalgic way she can’t quite place.

Here in the Ancient Hyrule, she is alone, surrounded by strange people and locations, and she doesn’t have any reassurances that anything else will survive something that nearly killed her. Because keeping the things she loves safe is her responsibility! So she’s dealing with the fallout of all that mess, unaware that the people who could help her are right there!

Sonia and Rauru’s chapters felt a bit rough, but they were really necessary and I had to keep extending them because there were things I needed to include, but Link was not in a mental state to narrate on them. Things like the look of Link’s arm brace and Secret Stone. I do like the portrayal of Sonia with traits more traditionally shared with Link, the impulsivity and fearlessness to run towards trouble, while Rauru is the more measured, thoughtful of the two. They’re definitely not supposed to be perfect analogues, and the characterization will be worked on through the future chapters. But, I hope I illustrated Sonia’s a bit with being the first to run to Link’s aid, and being the one to try and help Link even as she actively gets a sword pointed at her. I probably should have increased the amount of dialogue between them, but it also didn’t feel right to break up what they were doing to speak… eh, I’ll make a note that those sections will be the first on the list if I’m looking to rewrite.

Link’s Secret Stone is fun. I won’t elaborate too much on the mechanics of it besides that it makes sure the Gloom doesn’t kill her. A lot of people write Link’s Stone power to be similar to Zelda’s, or manifestations of the Champion abilities, but I decided to augment her resilience. If surviving near death who knows how many times, her determination and ability to survive are one of Link’s most important traits.

Fun fact, looking up the kanji I wanted to use for Link’s Stone, I found that both the words for healing and courage can both be pronounced yu. This is probably wrong, but I’m going with it. As for which one specifically is on the Stone, I leave it up to interpretation.

The distress signal idea spawned pretty early, just as something Link would do while distressed. But I sort of elaborated the idea, with the Sheikah Slate in BOTW being able to pick up the signal happening nearby it and pinging it off all the other Sheikah Tech or important magic items (Master Sword, Secret Stones, etc) like signal towers. And then that morphed into the idea of Link sending out the signal and it bouncing off of… nothing. So here are my in-the-moment thoughts about the experimental Spartan-IVs with Raya and Lana making a brief appearance.

I am 100% here if y'all have opinions or ideas too, I would love to hear them. This is just my take on it.

We hardly know anything about the experimental phase of the Spartan-IV project, what's canon is that it lasted 2 years and there was a brief moment with Ilsa Zane but that's it.

However, I've been thinking about it and they would've needed a test group of volunteers. I personally think there were two, the group in 2548, which was Raya's group. and then 2549, which was Lana's. While Musa and Jun were in charge of the official Spartan-IV recruitment, the experimental IVs were mainly picked by a board of ONI scientists, Musa and Parangosky. They needed to be very selective with this group, files upon files were shuffled through.

It's also noteworthy that not a single one of the experimental IVs got all their augmentations at once, ONI needed to watch to see how each person reacted to each procedure, so it couldn't have been done immediately, especially after the IIsa Zane incident. All these files are currently redacted.

The first group was the trial group, they needed UNSC personnel who had an outstanding mission record, more so looking towards the ODSTs and seeing who has served the longest and who they could "fix" with augmentations. Example A, Raya was part of the eight other candidates that were offered the original Spartan II augmentation for their eyes. Three of them ended up permanently blind while five were successes. In the end, there were a handful of deaths and complications with this group, but was an overall success to continue to the next phase.

The second group was ONI personnel, teams that could drop in and out of missions and knew how to keep their mouths shut. These were the ones Parangosky mainly picked, the ones she trusted to get missions done, ODSTs that had worked under her for years, and most importantly, ones that didn't have a group of teammates, lonewolfs if you would. Alot of them were Section 3 such as Lana, the ones that knew how to disappear and not say a word. These ones went smoother than the first group but ONI still tried to use Spartan II and III augmentations, or rather, a more subdued version that eventually became the building blocks for the Spartan-IV argumentations.

The three years before the actual Spartan-IV program started was an observation period. These Spartans were sent on hand-picked missions and would go through tests and scans as soon as they got back, from their diets, to how their bodies were growing with the augmentation and this is where ONI picked and chose what to make the official augmentation list.

I guess in a way, you can say they are genetic freaks. Hardly any two of the experimental Spartan-IV have the same exact augmentations. However, this led to the experiment IVs being really proud of themselves and their teammates, not in an 'I'm better than you way' but we've survived while not everyone did. Every couple of years these IVs get called in for testing to make sure nothing abnormal has happened, as of today many of them are still active and I want to say the end number was around 75 or 76 of these Spartans.

It's Time to Meet Them!

Before I start winding down for bed tonight, I figured, I'd finally introduce my alters/headmates! (Not sure which term I should use. I'm still a tad new to this.) Let's do this!

To preface, some of my system members may be triggering to some, given their canon sources. The listing will be under the read more!

Miguel O’Hara

Role: Protector/Caregiver

Source: Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse

Age: 34

Gender: Male

Strong, dedicated, and brave. Miguel is his universe’s one and only Spider-Man. He comes from Earth 928-B, and lives in the year 2099. He discovered a way to travel through the multiverse, and in doing so, formed a special taskforce to ensure its safety. Whenever he isn’t busy protecting Nueva York, he’s monitoring the multiverse for any abnormalities. Despite his scary appearance, he's actually quite sweet.

Important Info: Miguel has severe trauma pertaining to abuse and loss. Please be mindful that he may not answer any questions or reply to comments involving those topics. Nor will he talk about them. Unless you know him personally, don’t ask. He’s also really busy most of the time, so responses may come late, or not at all.

Knockout

Role: Caregiver/Protector

Gender: Male

A former Decepticon turned Autobot, Knockout has seen his fair share of hardships. He was once a mod surgeon on his home planet of Cybertron. However, once the war started, he became a medic for the Decepticons. After coming to earth, he joined the Autobots. A caregiver by nature, Knockout always tries his best to treat any and all patients with love and respect. Despite his change in sides, one thing has stayed the same: His meticulous care routine. He takes pride in how he looks, and will do anything to keep his paint glistening.

Important Info: Being a medic, he's quite busy. He may not respond right away.

Breakdown

Role: Caregiver/Protector

Gender: Male

A Wrecker with a spark of gold, Breakdown is the prime example of a golden retriever person. The gentle giant has energy to spare, even after strenuous activity! Like Knockout, Breakdown is a former Decepticon, joining the Autobots after arriving on earth. He has immense strength, but is a little dumb at times. He lost an optic (eye) due to M.E.C.H, an organization that sought to harness Cybertronian anatomy for their personal gain.

Important Info: In regards to the M.E.C.H situation, Breakdown has PTSD. Please be mindful not to trigger it. Don’t mention the organization, or Cylas. If you want to know about that specifically, ask Knockout or me (The host).

Starscream

Role: Protector

Age: 4,500,00

Gender: Male

A cunning strategist and former Commander of the Decepticons, Starscream can be a force to be reckoned with. However, his sharp mind can often be dulled by his impulsivity and rashness. Having been Megatron’s right hand for centuries, Starscream has seen his fair share of terrible things. He’s even done terrible things himself, but he’s trying to make up for it. Working with the Autobots is merely the first step.

Important Info: Starscream is a victim of severe physical, emotional, and psychological abuse. As a result, he is often highly anxious and quick to anger. Please don’t mention Megatron around him. Don’t use aggressive language; it triggers him very badly. If you ask him about anything pertaining to his days as a Decepticon, he may not answer right away. Or, he may not answer at all, depending on the topic. If you want to know more about any of Starscream’s triggers, please ask Knockout, Breakdown, or me.

Cloud Strife

Role: Protector

Gender: Male

A former SOLDIER infantryman with a tendency of being a self-proclaimed badass, Cloud is definitely a man of great consequence. Toting around the massive Buster Sword, his augmented strength is nothing to sneeze at. However, despite his hard exterior, he’s actually quite nice– if you know how to treat him.

Important Info: He may come off as stand-offish at times, but he doesn’t mean to. He has trauma pertaining to loss and manipulation. Due to his trauma, he has PTSD, so please don’t talk about Sephiroth if it can be helped.

Nanaki/Red XIII

Role: Caregiver

Age: 48 human years (15 or 16 in Buma years)

Gender: Male

A sentient beast with red fur and a fiery tail. Nanaki, known to most as Red XIII, is a loyal companion. He may not understand a lot of things, given his age, but he tries his best. Born in Cosmo Canyon, Nanaki lived in the wild most of his life– until he was captured by Shinra and sent to Midgar. Once he was placed in Shinra’s R&D laboratory, he was subjected to many, unethical things; none of which I’ll mention because it triggers me. A little shy, Nanaki may stammer or stutter sometimes when he speaks. But once he finds his footing, he speaks fairly eloquently.

Important Info: Nanaki is a minor! Please refrain from talking about anything 18+. He has some trauma involving Shinra's R&D department; namely, Hojo. He'll talk about it, but he might not respond in a timely manner.

Class Feature Friday: Augmentation Focus (Evolutionist Evolutionary Focus)

 With another Starfinder entry on Friday, it’s time to introduce a new class that came out fairly recently, the Evolutionist!

Whether it be by physical mutation, cybernetic augmentation and full mechanical transformation, transforming oneself into an eldritch being, or even embracing undeath, the evolutionist class is all about transcending the limits of one’s own species and becoming something more. If this setting only had humans we would call this transhumanism, but I’m not sure what the alternative would be.

However, in addition to those four possible paths, which have their own multitude of branches to focus on and explore as sure as there are infinite forms out there that someone might want to become, there are also different specializations to the class, which are called Evolutionary Foci, representing how they choose to utilize the transformation they are cultivating in their bodies.

In particular, today we are focusing on the Augmentation focus, which specializes in having a lot of different augmentations (preferably of their niche (subtype of augmentation, such as biotech, cybernetics, magitech, and necrotech)) within their bodies.

I imagine such individuals have a burning need to get their body just right to fit their personal vision of themselves, not only gaining all the abilities they could ever ask for, but also matching their appearance to what they have in their head. Some may end up being living swiss army knives or have their augs be tailored to a specific job or fighting style. Either way, their bodies accept augmentations and changes in a way that leaves doctors and scientists in awe.

 All evolutionists gain a free augmentation they can change as they grow, but those that specialize in augmentation gain a second, albeit slightly weaker one. Additionally, their bodies accept augmentations from their niche even more readily than other practitioners of this path, allowing them to purchase and install them for an increasingly reduced price.

Additionally, they eventually also gain the ability to install up to two extra augmentations into two different systems that already have an augmentation, adding to their arsenal of abilities.

If you really love augmentations, either for the utility that cannot be disarmed or the combat potential, this focus may be what you’re looking for with this class. I would personally recommend boosting your pool of resolve points with the Extra Resolve feat and other methods, since a lot of augmentations that grant activated abilities instead of just passive buffs let you use resolve to activate them additional times per day. Whether you want to build them with combat in mind or a variety of mobility and utility options, however, is up to you. Also keep in mind what sort of augmentations appear in each list.

 Like I said earlier, this focus seems to be for those who are either becoming evolutionists for practical reasons, or more likely, are doing it to become their perfect self. Whether your transgender, genderqueer, or otherwise have body dysphoria, I think a lot of us can relate to that. Even if you haven’t experienced things like that, it’s worth considering what your character thinks their “perfect form” would be, even if you don’t take this specific focus. After all, whether they are trying to become a perfect fusion of flesh and machine (or replacing the flesh entirely), an undead paragon, a perfect organism, or an eldritch hybrid of mortal and some other cosmic being such as an outsider or even some magical beast like a dragon, there is a lot to consider in the path to perfection.

  Ilgashi has always feared death, and no amount of religion or philosophy could assauage the korasha lashunta. So, they turned to the path to undeath, and have been meticulously hand-picking their every vital organ ever since then in preparation for eternity. If you’re going to exist functionally forever, you might as well like the vessel you’re in, right?

 Eager to be able to live off sunlight, but not being able to accept plant DNA on account of allergic rejection, an evolutionist hires the party to make a trip to a jungle world populated by tashtari “laser wolves” for a genetic sample, incorporating their solar panel-like scales into their body.

 The red snow of Karakosh, actually iron-laced volcanic ash, is an eerie and beautiful sight, but one all to common to the hermit living on the undeveloped world. Descriptions of the individual by prospectors suggest that he might be the person of interest the party is searching for, a scientist who became more machine than flesh while pursuing dubious research for a corporation that is now under investigation.

It's no secret that the Grid Battleforce Rangers are soft on Ben and Betty Burke. Less common knowledge is that it's because they're good at their jobs in unorthodox ways.

Ben and Betty are clumsy and silly. They knock things over, break things by accident, spill things in Nate's lab - the list goes on and on. However, each and every time it happens something important is always brought to life. For that alone, the Rangers are supremely thankful.

Other, however, not so much. And if Devon catches even a whiff of that guy who made Betty cry, Grid Battleforce Red has no issues reminding before that strength isn't all he received from the Grid.

"Dev?" Betty asks.

Devon looks up. They're laying in bed, just existing together. Betty's got a book, Devon's got his switch, they're both doing their own activities together. Devon loves time like this because it offers him time to recharge his social meters. "What's wrong, Bets?"

Betty bites her lip, then quietly asks, "Will you say the thing?"

Devon grins, sits up, and nods. "Betty Burke," he says, "light of my life and heart of my hearts. You're enough and perfect as you are. I appreciate you so, so much."

Betty's eyes water, but she leans over and hugs Devon tightly. "Thanks Dev," she murmurs.

Devon hugs her back. "Anytime, babe."

Happy STS! If someone was looking for your characters, how would they describe them to people? What features would they most pick out to distinguish them from a crowd?

Ooh, good question. It's a tiny bit tricky to answer right now, 'cos I'm just lately getting back into writing after not being able to for most of a decade, so all my stories are in the early planning stages (meaning so are the characters' appearances).

I do have a pretty good grasp of the main characters in Life List, though:

Birdie: a tall (between 5'10 & 6ft), broad, light-medium brown skinned, woman, in her 60s (though you'd be forgiven for thinking she was still in her 50s). She has tightly curled, mixed-type, medium brown hair, which she keeps firmly contained in a large, low bun, at the nape of her neck. She tends to accompany this formal hairstyle with equally fomal (but sturdy & practical) skirt suits, in bold (but not overly bright) colours & basic patterns.

A retired teacher (at a private boarding school), she has a somewhat stiff & formal bearing, but is far more open & friendly than she seems, so don't be afraid to approach her. As she has excellent diction & a low, but resonant, carrying voice, you may be able to hear her as well as see her, even when surrounded by people.

Su: Small & wiry, with long hair in a single braid - theoretically falling straight down her back, but more often flung over one (or both) shoulder, or even wrapped around her neck like a scarf - her richly brown skin shows signs of long hours spent outdoors. Even though her petite frame may be difficult to spot through a crowd, her active - & creative - nature means she has a surprising affinity (for someone in their 30s) for clambering on, under, or over things - usually in order to point her professional lens at them.

An inveterate wearer of t-shirrs & jeans, she nevertheless has a feminine streak, which she combines with a love of her Pakistani heritage, often augmenting her simple outfits with an unobtrusive piece of traditionally inspired jewellery, or a bright scarf in traditional patterns, which you may be able to see as you get closer.

Bonus: the as-yet-unnamed lifestyle journalist (with aspirations of investigative journalism) that follows the ladies around, hoping for a scoop (as described by Su, probably):

Weirdly fond of bright blue socks.

Moves like a cartoon - sort of sideways, in both directions at once.

His mustache looks like it came out of a vintage movie. His suit looks like it came out of the laundry basket (of a vintage movie set).

Why would you wear vertical stripes when you're already long & skinny? Especially those stripes.

Why the hat?

(His fashion sense may evolve with time, but I keep picturing him in either the most boring, featureless, crushed suit known to man, or in a vintage-esque striped number, the type generally worn with straw boater & cane, often in a dance number! Or a barbershop quartet, actually - maybe that's his hobby. The bright blue socks that he wears with any & all outfits are an established fact, however.)

The Circle of the Flesh; A D&D 5th Edition Druid Subclass

the continuation of my gross, necromancy-inspired subclasses, this time with DRUID! this one needs a lot of work, but I like where it is currently. Heavy inspiration from The Magnus Archives and the Third House from the Locked Tomb Series!

The Circle of the Flesh acknowledges that we come from earth, and to the earth we return. This, inherently, means that the life within humanity is the same form of life that exists within nature, and therefore can be manipulated in the same ways. As above, so below and all of that. Most druids tend away from this path, as flesh manipulation tends to be exploited in the worst of ways. Those who do choose to follow the Circle of Flesh, though, have a reverent sort of respect for the humanoid body, understanding deeply all they have to gain from it, and how much it can be twisted and changed to the practitioner’s benefit.

Aspects of the Flesh, 2nd Level Circle of the Flesh Feature

When you choose this path at 2nd level you embrace the idea that your flesh is malleable, in a way not dissimilar to clay. As a bonus action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to manipulate your own flesh, while still remaining at least semi-humanoid. Whenever you embrace the Aspects of the Flesh, choose from the following list of things to manipulate: 

Hardened Flesh: Your skin ripples and thickens, becoming a form of natural armor. When you activate this form, you gain a +1 to your AC for 10 minutes, or until you dismiss it. 

Toughened Nail: Not only can you manipulate the flesh of your body, but also the keratin that makes up your fingernails and hair. Your nails lengthen and sharpen, becoming unnaturally tough. As a reaction or a bonus action, you can now make a claw attack. It does 1d8+DEX necrotic damage (this damage/attack counts as magical). This lasts for 10 minutes, or until you dismiss it, retracting the claws back into your hands. 

Face Contortion: You can push around the structure of your own bones in order to make your face look drastically different to how it normally does. This functions as a disguise self, essentially, but is limited to your own face and body. You cannot make yourself taller or shorter, and you cannot make yourself appear as a different race or change your skin tone. This lasts for 10 minutes, or until you return your facial structure to its regular appearance. 

My Body Is Not My Own, 2nd Level Circle of the Flesh Feature

Through study of the body and how it works, you have learned to temporarily gain control over a creature’s flesh, bending it and manipulating it to your will. As a reaction, you can exploit this ability, causing a creature to temporarily lose control of their extremities. Effectively, they have disadvantage on their next attack. You can do this a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier per short rest.

Rend and Repair, 6th Level Circle of the Flesh Feature

It was previously mentioned that practitioners of the Circle of the Flesh view the malleability of skin as similar to clay. This is especially true when it comes to Rend and Repair. When you touch a creature’s exposed flesh, you can choose one of the following options: 

Rend: You cause the flesh underneath your hand to slough off and remove itself from the person it was previously attached to. Make a melee spell attack. On a hit, you deal 1d8 plus your druid level necrotic damage. If the target is using natural armor, or if a significant amount of skin is exposed, they are considered vulnerable to this attack. 

Repair: You can push and mold the flesh back together, like a potter making a bowl. You can use this ability to heal a creature for 1d8 plus your druid level. When you use this ability to heal, no scars are left behind from the wound, and you also end any disease or poisoned effect on said creature, forcing the poison to leech itself out of the skin. 

You can use this ability a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier per long rest. 

A Potter Chooses Their Clay, 10th Level Circle of the Flesh Feature

As a reaction, you can use your My Body Is Not My Own ability, but to an advanced degree. As a reaction, you can temporarily control where the creature’s muscles are directed, effectively choosing the target of their current attack, on top of the preexisting ability allowing you to cause disadvantage on the creature’s next attack.

Bodily Form, 14th Level Circle of the Flesh Feature

In addition to the following upgrades, your Flesh Manipulations now last as long as your Wild Shape ability, or until you dismiss them. 

What the Gods Gave Me: Your skin becomes harder, taking on a mottled look. Your AC now increases to +2 when you use this ability and you are resistant to acid damage. 

An Extension: An upgrade to “And Hardened Nail,” your arms can now grow to double their length, effectively giving your claw attack a 10ft reach. Additionally, your claws now do 2d8 damage. 

Eternal Beauty: You can now manipulate your skin and move it around to structurally resemble other humanoid races. Additionally, you can influence the pigment of your own skin to change its color to better imitate races such as tieflings, Goliaths, genasi, etc. You are still limited to the amount of skin you have, though, as matter cannot be created or destroyed.

I doubt she suffers mental issues, that's why the pr is different from Seb and Ale's. This shitshow is too much difficult and unpredictable, it's the most ridiculous pr in HW so far!

She deleted 100+ porn pics before signing the contract, and liked many nude pics, she’s obsessed with naked bodies. We noticed she always wore the same clothes and no bra, it seems she never care what she wears! She loves to sleep with anyone, normal ppl will be shy and hide this behavior to their family. But she has to be accompanied by her mother or sister wherever she goes!!! It's highly possible her family will give her pills and control her when she got attacks and out of control! I'm sure Alba has hided many secrets from Chris' team, her team is untrustworthy!

Anon, I would have to disagree with you. Although I am not a dr but I have seen some patients of schizophrenia my surroundings and what I have seen there are other symptoms as well which we do not see in Alba in any way. I don't know if you are a dr or you have some kind of knowledge to the field of medicine but it seems not okay to label someone as a patient of a mental disease.

Her behavior seems to be weird from liking disturbing photos to showing her liking for Lolita and also Marlon. It seems like a case of focus on hypers*xuality. She had a boob job at a very young age and it is very alarming that her parents didn't stop her and let her have it. Also, most of her career is based on soft p*rn movies. Some of her work also depicts disturbing relationships between old men and young woman where she plays the role of the young woman who looks like a teen. It satisfies the ill-minded fantasies of creepy men.

Large, bronze doors. Locked. Chased into the surface of each door, dozens of hands sprawl out towards you, frozen, trapped behind an uneven lattice of metal.

Within, a simple room. In each corner, a plinth where you’d expect to see some kind of bust or other ornamentation, but there is none. Small bits of rubble litter the floor.

Brain Chamber: The heat is intense. A mess of thick cables slither their way to various ports throughout the room. Consoles flicker in the darkness. Disk drives grind and tremble as they access information.

Magistrate’s Bench: A raised platform that will eject the Magistrate from the brain chamber when court is in session. During ejection, a wobbling tune plays for 17 seconds, and is then abruptly cut off.

The Magistrate: Robotic, insect-like. Its heaving, metal body lays prone as it emerges from the brain chamber. Its long, frail arms gesture limply as it delivers its verdict. Everyone is guilty, sentenced to life in the dungeon.

The Jury: Six automatons, fixed to the floor, attached to swivel rods. 1D6 of them are active, the rest slump motionless in an unflattering pose. The Jury will always side with the Magistrate, and will flail wildly if anyone approaches the bench.

2.3. Gift & Snack Shop

Shelves and other display fixtures within the shop are bare. An aloof automaton stands behind a dusty till. They will microwave whatever you ask of them in their oversized oven.

In one corner, attached to the ceiling, a holographic emitter displays the face of a dour man. He speaks on loop. The image and message are unclear, muddled by static.

1D4 Guards will frequent the shop at any given time.

2.4. Courtroom

A large, central platform, where the accused must stand to receive their verdict. Four large stasis emitters exert immense force, making whoever is on the platform incapable of moving.

The Defence: West desk. An automaton, with uneven optical receptors, will do their best to stammer out a defence in the accused’s favour. Largely ignored and only there as a formality.

The Prosecution: East desk. A slick looking automaton, will list all of the charges against the accused, producing evidence as needed.

1D6 Guards will be present. Augmented humans, loyal to The Machine. They will escort the accused to their cells the moment the guilty verdict is delivered.

2.5. Public Seating

Rows of benches, tilted every which way.

Seated within them (1D6):

1. No one, they’re all empty.

2. A solitary, old man. Quite sleepy.

3. 1D10 automatons, programmed to react to the drama of the courtroom.

4. 1D20 rats, each with augmentations implanted into their brains. They watch the proceedings with great interest.

5. A massive, robotic mechanoid. Inoperable. The court’s former bailiff, scrapped by a particularly merciless inmate.

6. A prisoner, hiding, they are attempting to escape.
