Do you think that a dynamic of a tiny being stronger in some way than their giant friend could work? If so, how would you handle it?

I actually have thought about this and I think it can. I want to do something with this, but haven't figured out with who or the setting yet. Admittedly Ian and Mikhail kind of started like that :D

I think the hardest part of it is that first meeting. Since after it's sort of the same casual build up of trust.

Personally I'd probably have the tiny not know they're stronger until the giant catches them by accident. Maybe a trap was set that even the giant couldn't break and the tiny easily breaks free. Or the staple of an impulse grab that ends with the tiny holding the fingers at bay easily.

A fun method of this too is the oblivious tiny. Like literally no idea they're stronger than the giants around them. Think it's always the giant being kind of trying to make them feel better. Especially in a setting where the tiny used to be giant.

A big part of this I think is just what the strength level is. Stronger than is one thing, but is it like stronger and dangerous to the giant? Are they stronger as in the giant couldn't hurt them without a weapon?

Technically Delphia falls into this as stronger and dangerous. There's sort of an idea of a bad end for her I started once that focuses on where her power in the Seer and the Gods universe comes from. She could in fact kill gods, at the very least Vitus and Dabria are aware of that even in the end where they're family. She can see the lists, it means Fate could let her change or add dates. They just don't realize her power doesn't need Fate to kill them.

Melody falls into stronger and mostly harmless too. In most of the stories her singing/musical skills can be used to stop kyrie or others bigger than her. As long as she can hum she can't be hurt easily. She just doesn't realize it's that strong yet. Thinks she has to sing for her to be safe, but it's humming, making any music, usually.

I've also been thinking about the idea of using my vampires for it. I did a one shot where a borrower size shifted after becoming one, but I think just tiny, strong, deadly is fun. Especially if because of their size half the weaknesses they should have aren't as important.

I rambled. I think tiny stronger than the giant is very cool. I like the idea of the tiny basically on equal footing for whatever reason. I also like the idea of tiny being stronger and more dangerous. Maybe venomous... I have ideas now I thank you very much for this!

Hello fellow tinhat!

I was just thinking about Snow on the Beach and about Taylor’s Rhode Island home and how she bought it in spring 2013, so that fall and winter it would have still been new to her, and we know that Taylor and Karlie hung out between Nov 13 2013 and Dec 9 2013 and we know that Wildest Dreams with “let’s get out of this city away from the crowds/you’re so tall and handsome as hell” was created in 2013, and that snow on that beach in Rhode Island would have still been a new and weird and beautiful experience for Taylor at that stage. And how even Taylor Swift would have felt like a sweet and kind Victoria Secret super model angel person wanting her seemed impossible.

So even though the song could just be a nod to the imagery of the VSFS13, it’s also entirely possible that it is fairly literal. And she did show us a video of her in the snow on that beach, and we did just get a quote from Gigi that the song reminds her of that house.

Another stand from the crossover Idea, specifically another for the protag team! This one actually plays with the crossover in an interesting way. The character in question is one of the few to keep her canon power as well as have a stand, and it's explicitly mentioned that such a thing is unusual in this crossover as the two power sources don't tend to play nice. The fact that she has both is a plot point that I won't spoil further.

Her stand actually has some synergy with her power so I'll quickly explain that first. Her power lets her buff dogs, making them bigger and tougher, while also making her very good at training and commanding dogs. It does mess with her mental state a bit but most/all of the powers in this setting do that to an extent, hers is just a more extreme example.

Her stand helps her get around the biggest weakness of her power, the limited use case. "SIAMES" is a small, support oriented stand that takes the form of a small, shadowy bug that also has wolflike features. It attaches to one person and gradually changes their DNA to that of another animal—at first she only does this with canines but she eventually includes other animals. As their DNA changes their physical body also changes to match. If Siames is called back the changes immediately revert, while if it is forced off the changes take more time. (Always remember to remove ticks properly, or something could be left behind!) Any damage taken or healed while transformed carries over, though. The transformation starts with adding the most useful features of the donor species, such as an armadillo's armor or a wolf's claws, then does the rest from there. (It may also exaggerate these abilities for a period, I'm not sure.)

However there is a small catch. If SIAMES is used on anyone other than its user, it will eventually alter their brain to the same level of intelligence as the donor specie. So the character can't simply use it as a force multiplier for her allies. Even so, she would be a good support member with her stand, as once she starts using it for more than canines she becomes the group's healer because Axlotls are awesome.

Except remember, she doesn't just have her stand. If SIAMES is used on someone for long enough (and of course transforming them into a canine), she is able to use her power on them, and the more SIAMES has taken effect the more her power is able to buff them. And even when using SIAMES on someone other than herself, the mental changes aren't so bad since, again, her power gives her an affinity for training and commanding dogs, and even if her allies don't think like humans they still recognize friend and foe.

There are a bunch of small details that I'm still sorting out with the stand. Are those affected by SIAMES able to hurt other Stands? Can SIAMES work if it attaches to someone's Stand? How much, if at all, is the Stand User affected mentally by her stand when using it on herself? How fast is the transformation? Can she use it on non-humans? Do the Stands of those affected also change? What's SIAMES's range and mobility? Ultimately, these are all minor questions but they do add up.

and I do have a suggestion for one of the details still getting figured out: I think the transformed creatures should be able to see/harm Stands, kinda like how Scary Monsters worked. Maybe you could give a reason for it something along the lines of "the Stand replaces the DNA with microscopic pieces of itself to make the changes and those lingering bits of Stand let it see and interact with other Stands"

story idea: a rapunzel who is always cutting her hair

she comes from a race of beings whose hair grows long and strong, strong to the point that if it’s not cut it will become heavier and stronger until the person can’t move and their neck breaks from trying to hold their head up. each person’s hair having different qualities because hair is the backbone of their society, but it just keeps growing.

so hair is cut and hair is used.

soft fluffy hair is used for warm clothes while thin silky hair for cool ones. hair that has a tendency to harden quickly is used as building material, naturally curly and winding hair being used as strong ropes or braided together as nets for fishing. spongy, kinky hair being used to treat wounds or to clean etc.

consider: obi-wan is away on a mission, and asks anakin to record himself doing this and send it to him. obi-wan has the controller, but he has no idea what kind of state anakins in lol, just playing with the controls as he feels like. sometimes he lets it buzz lowly for twenty minutes, sometimes he turns it to the highest setting in twenty second intervals. meanwhile, anakin is realizing he should've brought a towel to sit on as he tries to remember how to read.

later, obi-wan watches all the footage, and of course he records himself getting off to it and sends it to anakin :)

You know, it's kinda funny how much of high fantasy centers around kings and nobility and courtly intrigue considering that the archetypal high fantasy, Lord of the Rings, had the rather explicit moral of "saving the world is up to this backwater hick and his gardener because no politician, least of all inherited nobility, would have the ability to see past their own ambition and throw away a weapon". Oh sure, Aragorn is a great king and all, but there's a reason he's over there running a distraction ring while the hobbits do the real work. Sauron loses because he gets distracted by kings and armies and great battles (i.e. typical high fantasy stuff) letting Frodo and Sam sneak through his back door and blow it all to hell.

Just saying, maybe old Jirt knew what he was saying when he said that the small folk doing their best and holding to each other was more powerful than a dozen alliances and superweapons and we should respect him for it.
