happy indigenous peoples day ^-^ a year ago i found out my family is half indigenous, so ive made it a personal duty to try and reconnect in order to honor those ancestors and histories. it's not my fault that I may never know my tribal affiliation (we know they lived around Popocatépetl), but it is my responsibility to do my best to honor them. since starting grad school, i've made an effort to talk about my indigenous roots more often, and to be honest about the fact that i do consider myself mixed indigenous. I also talk about this taking into account that I have white privilege, and how this has complicated my relationship to indiginiety.
anyway, i went to an ipd event outside of boston today and was so happy!! i had to leave early for a health emergency (thank u random uti) but it was so fun and i experienced and learned a lot. loved the mexica dance group who danced for Huitzilopochtli (i love you Huitzilopochtli he was pulled for me during a tarot reading and he told me to be fucking strong!!!!), and i especially loved experiencing the seven sacred directions where the entire crowd moved as one. i talked to some lovely indigenous people and they gave me so much guidance and love! it made me feel so happy...I wish I was able to stay longer, but I enjoyed being in a space where I was so welcomed.
if you're detribalized like me or trying your best to reconnect, never be ashamed of the fact that you were forcibly removed from your tribal affiliation. never be ashamed of how you look like either! there were so many "white passing" indigenous folks there embracing and celebrating with those in full regalia, and so many people of many appearances joined in for ceremonial dance. even if you're 10% or 3% indigenous, I still think you deserve to know your ancestor's culture and history! i still think you deserve to honor those parts of you! they wanted us to forget about our indigenous roots for a reason, and i refuse to colonize my mind any longer. opening yourself up to indigineity, even if you don't know your affiliation or "how much" is in you, is far better than never learning a damn thing about indigenous folks.
i hope everyone had a lovely indigenous peoples day ^-^

Currently you could be going feeling burdened, low, perhaps a burnout. this could be due to any reason, something is stressing you out and thats why you are behaving the way you are. you might feel unprogressive in a way. nothing is wrong with you, its just a phase and only you can get yourself out of here. firstly you need to analyze and find the root cause of this issue and how you can get out of this, if you need help about it, you will receive it at the right time, in the right way. all you need to do is analyze and then ask for help if you need. its really important for you to find the underlying cause. take your time, no need to hurry, be easy on yourself, once you are done with that make a firm plan to get out of this slow, unprogressive place by a healthier routine and actions that lead you to where you want to be. youll have to be firm and strong. this pile people feel young and maybe even a little naive. if someone has been through a recent breakup you need to be more gentle to yourself, love yourself and take your time to rise. Theo stared intently at his desk with his arms crossed over his chest. He was sitting in divination, not listening as Professor Trewlany droned on about 'the art of studying horoscope charts'. Every single word that escaped her mouth made its way to Theo's ears like a mosquito's bussing, which irked him to no end. He didn't even know why he signed up for the class to begin with. That's a lie. The reason he was slumping in this class was absurd, and the absurd reason was sitting by the round table in front of him, looking half asleep.
He struck you a glance, feeling the scent of overly-soaked tea and Incense reach his nose as he took a deep breath. He felt truly pathetic. Taking a ridiculous class for a girl. He could practically hear his ancestors cackling at him from their graves.
But how could he not, it was you. You with your old sweaters, you with that sarcastic mouth, you with that creative and colorful mind that always seemed to impress him. As he said before, absurd.
His eyes slowly traveled back to his table. Or rather what was laying on his table.
Before, at the almost beginning of the lesson, he'd found a letter in amongst his books. It looked like it had been written on very old parchment, and the ink that spelled out Theodore was smudged on the edges as if someone had swiped their hand over it before letting the ink dry.
He picked it up and thumbed at the edge of the folded paper, speculating if he should open it or not. A part of him was filled with nerves and slightly excited about receiving a letter. But at the same time dread, it because what if it was a detailed written letter about someone's undying love for him.
Theo truly couldn't understand how some people loved him so much that they felt the need to confess by letter. He had never really been the most handsome when he was younger, at least that was what he thought, but when he grew into puberty it changed. His looks, his voice, his height. And also his popularity among the boys and girls at Hogwarts and along with the streets of London.
"Mr. Nott!" He slowly carried his eyes forwards, meeting his gaze with the big googly eyes of Professor Trewlany, along with every single student in the classroom.
"Ah! There you are, though I had lost you for a second there." she smiled toothily,  and she continued with the lesson as if nothing had happened.
He felt embarrassment crawl steadily up his neck, and he lightly cleared his throat as if he could cough away the feeling.
Feeling a pair of eyes crawling over him, he looked around, finding that it was you that had been looking at him. Warmth rose to his ears, and the feelings had come to be to get too much for Theo.
He lightly tilted his head to you, as if asking what you wanted, and you raised one of your eyebrows at him as if it were obvious why you were staring at him. And you knew that he knew what you meant when he mouthed a 'later' before trying to focus on your lesson again. Albeit it was hard, as his fingers itched to unfold the letter but he wanted to open it outside the classroom with your guidance.
You slowly turned in your seat again, still wondering what could have gotten him so tense.
--
His head quickly turned around when you got a hold of him, and his face pleasantly relaxed when he saw you scowling at a student that had pushed you aside to get by. You proceeded to push him forward as you felt students starting to step at the heel of your shoes.
When the lesson finally came to an end, you did your best to stand up and sprint after Theo, even though your body tingled in pain from the uncomfortable position you sat in during the last hours. You saw his mop of hair walk out of the doorway, and you hurriedly shoved through your classmates to catch up with him. And when you finally reached him, you quickly took a handful of the back of his robe so that either you or he wouldn't lose each other in the crowd.
"Alright, alright, no need to push me." He told with a slight attitude layering with his clear voice. You rolled your eyes but did listen to him either way, not having the energy to push him either way.
It felt like you could breathe again when you finally arrived at the end of the stairs, and you slowly let go of Theo's robe as your hand started to cramp because of the harsh clasp you had on him. And the two of you began to track through the corridor that led to the courtyard.
"Nice weather today innit?" Theo looked at you weirdly as you tried to small talk. Your steps echoed in the once empty hall, and he wondered what had gotten you so awkward all of a sudden.
You couldn't help but take a look at him as you walked shoulder against shoulder. His hair was different like he'd started to take care of his dark brown locks. Its hair had a new shine to it, especially when the sun hit it. You lightly cleared your throat when you realized that you were starting again, and looked out of one of the big windows.
"What, you want to go out or something." He asked, and it wasn't until after he said it that he realized how it sounded. But it didn't seem like you noticed. He didn't know whether he should be happy or not about it.
You thought about it, and you decided that it did sound like a good idea. So you gave him a nod.
"Good, because I need your help." You watched curiously as he dug his hand into his pant pocket, and pulled out a piece of folded paper. Your eyes widened almost comically as you watched him fiddle with the familiar piece of parchment. You felt as if the hallway suddenly became a little bit too warm, and you felt yourself starting to sweat under your school uniform.
"Found this in one of my books earlier." He told you, turning the paper around, inspecting it. Panic began to rise in your chest as he grabbed your wrist and dragged you along, his eyes still caught on the letter.
Why didn't he open it when he got it?! Is he stupid?! Why do I need to be with him, does he know? Is he trying to embarrass me?
"Oh, hold on! I just remembered. Professor Dumbledor wanted me to go to his office after divination, something about Magic of dark arts." Everything came out in a jumble of words and you were worried that you were going to get tongue-tied.
You looked around yourself, trying to find anything that would bring you out of the awkward situation. But nothing. So you used your brain the best you could, trying to find a good enough excuse to get out of the excruciatingly embarrassing moment.
Theo watched you with suspicion. You were doing good in that class, always graduating with the highest grade. But he recently let you go, either way, finding no peace in arguing with you.
"Alright, see you later then." He nodded, and you saw how he was fighting off a frown, but you shook the guilt off and ran towards Dumbledor's office. Or more like running past his office and sprinting towards the Gryffindor common rooms.
You pushed through the people on the stairs, accidentally stepping on Neville's foot in the process.
"Sorry, Neville!" Nevil, Dean, and Seamus watched you crawl up the stairs in a hurry.
"I'm telling you, that lady is crazy." Seamus voiced, and Dean snorted loudly.
--
"So stupid." You muttered, shaking your head.
"Mimbulus Mimbletonia." You articulated, giving a glance to your surroundings before slipping into the red and yellow painted common room. The room was luckily empty, most of the students enjoying the last warmth of the sun before it became cold once again. You unconsciously started pacing around in the room with your thumbnail getting amused by your teeth.
"So, so stupid. Why would you give him a letter? He hates letters." Cursing at your stupid decisions, you threw yourself on one of the couches, letting your body melt into the fluffy cushions with your jaw resting on the place between your collarbones.
"Shut up Fred."
"Oh, what a depressing sight." Someone sighed deeply, a faux petty in their voice. You knew that voice by heart and didn't have to look up when two weights invited themselves on either side of your potato bag of a body.
"He's right, you look depressing. Maybe even a bit pathetic, with a little piece of hopelessness in the mix." George rubbed his imaginary beard as he thought about what you looked like.
You sighed. Normally the presence of a Weasly would be enough to dig you out of your moods, but this time it did the opposite.
"Thanks, I'm aware." There was a bite in your voice, and the twins met eyes, both holding a pinch of surprise in their brown irises.
Fred slowly sank into the couch, mirroring your body language. Whether it was to tease you or if he felt as utterly dumb as you did, no one knew. And frankly, you didn't care.
"Oh? was that what I thought it was?" Fred egged on, and the small laugh that escaped you was uncontrolled. It was strange how they were able to be such mood lifters. Because they could be real asshats in their moments.
"Soooooo." You felt George starting to rearrange is the position he was in, and after some shuffling around, he was laying on his stomach with his legs swaying back and forth. They stared at you with those puppy dog-like eyes, and you were forced to push your tongue against the wall of your cheek to not let your smile show.
"How did the letter thing go, did you woo him with your charming letter." And you were back to sulking once more.
"It went shit." You muttered.
"Elaborate." Fred encouraged, resting his head in his palm.
You sighed dramatically before resting your head on the edge of the back seat.
"He didn't open the letter when he got it, and then he expected me - who wrote the letter - to sit with him while he read it like a bloody moron." Rambling and exaggerating were two things of your specialty. It did occur often, but fortunately, no one seemed to think that it mattered, only finding it a little more amusing.
"Well, he must know that you're so extremely head over heels in love with him either way now since he read the letter I mean," Ginny spoke up from nowhere and your head snapped towards her when she did. Fred and George agreed from their point of view, thinking that the problem was solved.
"They told me." She quickly defended herself while pointing at the two boys on your sides.
"Why wouldn't you sign with your name when you declared your love for him, you moron," Ginny whined. And you tried to get out an excuse for your stupid mistake.
"Well, he would know, yes. If it weren't for the fact that I did not sign my name." With a guilty mumble, you sank even further down on the couch, feeling the weight of the consequences of your action on your shoulders. Or rather the lack of action.
The three siblings simultaneously groaned and complained at your confession.
"Bu- Well it wasn't like it was an 'exact declaration'. I just wrote about how his hair and eyes looked nice." You shrugged with a small pout forming on your lips. The whole ordeal was beginning to feel ridiculous and you were starting to regret ever giving him the note in the first place.
"What did you even expect to happen. That he would figure out who it was in two seconds and run into your arms?" Ginny asked, and the twins gasped comedically.
"Harsh, sister."
You let out a pitiful groan. "No, she's right. I should just... not continue. Let it be." You gave yourself an encouraging nod, ignoring the sinking feeling in your chest. You wanted to Nott about your feelings so bad, but you didn't have the mental strength to get turned down, and potentially ruin the only thing that let you be close to Theodore.
"No! That's even dumber! You are going to continue with this letter thing you've started with." Ginny pointed at you sternly, and she watched your eyes turn big at her tone of voice.
"Or else... Or else I'm going to take you off the Quidditch team." She crossed her arms over her chest and stared down at the three of you. And just when you opened your mouth Ginny made sure to shut it.
To everyone's surprise, including your own, you did continue to anonymously send those poetic words to Theodore, and while you didn't do it with any proclaimed confidence, you didn't sit by the side to wait for the faith to tie you together.
"And don't think that I can't, because I know people." She informed with a stone face and puffed chest. You quickly nodded, not finding yourself intimidated by the younger girl, though still trusting her words. And with the confirmation from you, she swiftly turned around and let her legs carry her towards the door, intending to get that last beams of sunlight on her face.
--
And even though Theo might be the unaware genius, he was still observant and could detect a shift of emotion by the smallest twitch of an eyebrow or the tiny wrinkle on someone's nose. But it didn't seem to be in his favor for the situation he was glued in.
Though you didn't know if you gained a positive response from him since you always avoided him after the letter was hidden and given. And as Theodore was the smartest wizard in the house of Slytherin, in your year at least. It astounded you that the cunning Mr. Nott still hadn't come to figure out that the letters were from you. But you didn't know his point of view, and that was not calming your anxiety one bit. For while you craved for him to know your affections for him, you knew that the risk of rejection was still a major possibility of an outcome.
So when the lesson ended he quickly took a strong grip on your wrist before forcefully dragging you after him. At first, you didn't outwardly question him or protest, but when you saw the nicely folded papers in between his fingers, you felt a cooling bucket of panic getting thrown over your head.
He did notice that every time he brought up the factor that he wanted to show you something, you were immediately gone by the second. And your -what he hopes was- excuses were thoroughly thought out and planned, making them seem like they were only coincidences. And on his fifth letter he decided that it was time to tell you about the letters, even if, for whatever reason, you didn't want to hear.
Fear began to take over, doubts and anxious questions filling your brain to the rim. You attempted to object and you were beginning to run out of excuses, but it didn't matter because the second you opened your mouth you were shut down or hushed by Theodore.
"Oh Nott come on, stop being impossible!" you tried to protest.
"Oh hush and quit whining." Muttering. You despised when he muttered.
He grabbed the chair closest to you, and as the gentleman, he was, pulled it out for you.
It appeared to you that he was taking you to the library, and you let that calm your nerves since you knew that he would never try any confrontation in a public space. But to your horror, the library was packed with students. He decided that a spot in the back would be the best option, both for his and your comfort. And after accidentally walking into someone he finally arrived at the corner that he was looking for.
But you didn't seem to understand because first, you looked down at the seat that was meant for you before you slowly allowed your eyes to travel upon Theo, who was looking at you with a newfound determination. He was closer to your face than you prepared for, and you instinctively held your breath so that you wouldn't breathe on his face.
When you looked at him, Theo almost wanted to drop the act that he had going on. You looked up at him with big, questioning eyes and it took Theo the little self-restraint left after all the years with you to not do something regrettable.
"Sit." You could see his sharp canines as let the world out between his lips. It wasn't an ask and neither was it a suggestion. His demand caught you so off-guard that he didn't have time to blink before you were sitting on your chair.
"As you can see, I've been getting letters." He started.
Theo felt a small amount of ridiculous as he ordered you around, but he didn't have a choice since if he didn't, you would continue to slip through his fingers like an eel. He sat himself down in the red-clad chair and slowly pulled out the letters, trying to gauge a reaction from you. But your face didn't show any signs of discomfort, uneasiness, or awkwardness. The only emotion visible on your face was the cursed confusion.
"And I think that you already knew that since you've been trying to get away from me every time I try to bring them up." He paid notice to how your back slightly straightened, and he took that as an I sign to continue.
"But that doesn't matter right now." And that's a lie.
You watched as he tried to find the right words and a deep sigh told you that he was struggling. You had known Theo for 4 years, and even though he had a great capacity for writing and reading, he was still struggling with his speech. And it wasn't that he was bad at his grammar, he just had a problem expressing his feelings. And that had gotten you into many unforgettable fights and misunderstandings.
"I need your help." It was mumbled, almost not heard. You raised your eyebrows in slight surprise, feeling slightly helpless as you watched the seemingly distressed young man in front of you.
"And what might it be that Mr. Nott might need help with." You crossed your leg over the other, and you felt slightly bizarre at this moment.
Theodore watched your pellicular manner and raised his eyebrow at you when you reminded him a bit too much of a phycologist.
"Seriously, what's up with you?" He asked, but didn't have the needed patience to wait for an answer that wouldn't come.
"Whatever, what should I do with the letters?" What. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion.
"I'm afraid I'm lost."
He sighed, rolling his eyes and scoffing, seemingly feeling irritated by the fact that you didn't understand him for shit.
"Should I read them, throw them away? Or maybe you should read them?" He sounded conflicted like it was one of the hardest decisions he'd ever had to make, and you got curious about what could've gotten him to behave like he did at the moment.
"Wait, you haven't read the letters." It was more a conclusion than a question.
For some reason was the first emotion you felt embarrassment, and you had no clue as to why. Something in the back of your head told you that he knew that you were the culprit, but it was almost if not impossible for him to know. Or perhaps it was for the fact that you felt so desperate to know how he felt for you.
You could feel yourself sinking into your chair as Theo shook his head.
"I was going to read the first with you, but it seemed that Dumbledore's office and quidditch seemed to be more interesting." A small scowl melted upon your face, and annoyance flared up in your chest as he blamed his cowardness on you.
Theo felt his heart rattle as you lightly glared at him, whether it was from the feeling of excitement or uneasiness, he didn't know. And as an answer to your glare, almost like an instinct, he raised a challenging eyebrow.
It made you roll your eyes, starting to get tired of his childish behavior.
"Coward." You mumbled.
"I'm not a coward, I don't want to open the letters if I don't know who they're from." He hastily defended, and once again your face scrunched up in confusion. You shifted in your chair, uncrossing your legs and letting them fall to the sides as you sagged even more. And out of an accident, your foot made contact with his. You were just about to jump away, but Theo didn't move nor recognize it, so neither did you.
"So you want the letters to be from a specific person?" You sighed tiredly. You waited for the shake of his head and speech of denial. But it didn't come. Instead, he slowly nodded, while looking at you through his lashes.
You let your face be overcome by faux surprise and excitement and tilted your body forwards so that you could rest your head in your hands.
"Who is it." You cringed at the squeal in your voice, but you didn't let it show for the sake of your little act.
"I don't see how that's any of your business." There was a shift in his tone, and you were taken aback by the quick change in demeanor. You slowly leaned back with a scoff stuck in your throat.
Theodore suddenly felt uncomfortable by your sudden show of excitement and his stomach slowly sunk as his thoughts went haywire. It was obvious to him that you wouldn't show this excitement over who he might love, especially if you didn't know who. He pressed his lips together in misfortune and let himself get consumed by the failure and shame.
The letters weren't brought up again after that, and Theodore seemed to have dropped his strange attitude and gone back to his normal, brooding, and charming self. Although you couldn't shake off the feeling that something had changed with him, you just couldn't pinpoint what.
"No need to get so defending Nott. I was only asking." He scoffed lightly and began to back his letters into his robe.
Your butt had started to ache and it felt like the old tree bench had started to grow roots to you because of how long Oliver had been discussing tactics and positions and whatnot for the last hour. You understood that he wanted to win because you all did. But you didn't believe that sitting on your arses was the best way to prepare.
"Alright, let's wrap this up. Fred, George. You had something to say?" Slightly shifting on the bench, you watched as the twins switches places with Oliver and you exchanged glances with Angelina, but she didn't look like she knew what they were up to either.
"We would like, as a start for our speech, to get our lovely chaser (name) up on stage." Two hands grabbed the fabric of your red and gold clothes, and you yelped as you were roughly pulled up, and squished between the twins.
"That's what is suspected. And how convenient that our chaser has given us her hands." You started to protest in their grip as the small crowd four broke out in applause and jubilee. But before you were able to break out from their strong grip, they turned to you and blocked your way with their tall frames.
There was a silence before they began again."How many in here, would like a free broom service." The entire room stretched their hands up, and you started to suspect evil in their minds. But you let them continue for the sake of your sanity.
"If we win, you confess to your Slytherin man." You quickly opened your mouth to protest but as usual, you were quickly shut down. " And if you refuse, the night will be spent with six broomsticks instead of snogging with Nott." George finished Fred's sentence, and you squirmed at their bluntness and choice of words.
Their faces were a void of amusement, and you felt yourself being pushed into a corner. Both figuratively and literally.
"Alright fine. Fine! I'll do it. If this is the only way you'll leave my love life alone. I'll do it." You only mumbled the last part, the words being meant more as a personal encouragement.
That's why it came as a surprise that you could hear Theodore's sharp whistle through the autumn air.
They silently did their celebrations, high five and a little too hard slap on your back. And after five minutes, you were standing on the side of the court, swallowing down your nerves and waiting to step up on your brooms and start the game.
--
You watched in broad horror as Harry catches the snitch before the Hufflepuff did, your stomach turning itself inside out with nerves. You had seen Theodore in the crowd, and while it normally would make you giddy, it didn't go quite the same this time. The shouts and hollers of victory were ears deafening around you, and that combined with the buzz in your ears because your adrenalin rush made it hard for you to even hear your thoughts.
You found him standing on the edge of the stand, and when he saw that he had your attention, he gently waved you down to him with his hand. Almost immediately, you directed your broom down and stopped it so that you would be eye to eye with him.
"Hello." He was leaning against the wooden beam that was acting like a railing, with a small, sly smirk on his face.
"Hi." The shy smile on your face was uncontrollable, but you couldn't help it because you had never seen Theodore looking at you with such eyes.
"You did a good job out there."
"Why thank you." You answered bashfully. Theodore looked down on his armrest with a small smile, and began to slowly trace it with his fingers.
"You know, I never would've guessed that you could be such a poet." He watched your face twist in confusion.
You felt your body begin to warm, pushing away the autumn cold as hooded Theodore's eyes were locked with your lips.
"Sorry, but I'm no poet." You answered carefully, sensing what this was about. But you couldn't understand. He said that he didn't read the letters, and even if he did it later, it meant that it had only taken him one day to figure out who it was from. A gulp scratched your throat as Theodore's eyes began to travel away from yours. Like a soft caress, they raked over your face, from your brows to your soft cheek, ending on the cupid of your lips.
"You're a dick sometimes."
"Nott-." That's all of your warnings that you were able to get out before he placed a big open-mouthed kiss on your cold lips. At first, your entire body became rigid as a rock of surprise, until the other one of Theo's hands positioned itself on the back of your neck. A sound scaped the back of your throat as you started to relax against his lips, and you felt yourself getting lost in the feeling of ecstasy.
Now you were just confused. Your mouth hung open with unsaid words, but your brain seemed to have stopped training because of the stunning words that Theodore provided. He rolled his eyes, and you were beginning to get seriously annoyed at his cryptic behavior. Until he forcefully grabbed the collar of your red and gold clothing and pulled you towards him.
Theodore watched you with hooded eyes, feeling pleasure from only seeing your content face. But he had to pull away because he had been holding his breath ever since this morning.
So he gave a teasing lick with his tongue on your lower lip before he slowly pulled away. You tried to chase him with your lips, but the grip that he had on your shirt prevented you from so desperately locking your lips again.
"So you knew that it was my letters." You mumbled, watching him with slanted eyes.
He chuckled, and you were broken out of your bliss when he released you from his death grip. Both of your heads snapped towards the court when two surprisingly loud voices were heard whooping. Fred and George gave each other a high five again, and you shrank in embarrassment as you realized that your intimate moment with Theodore wasn't as secluded as you thought it was. When you looked at him as again, you realized that you had always cherished him. And that he would always have your soul and heart wrapped around his pinky, imbedded with his silver rings.
"I had no idea." He smiled lightly." As I said, I didn't want to read the letters until I knew that it was from the person that I wanted it to be."
You sighed loudly, your insides melting.
"You are adorable." Happily, you cupped his rosy cheeks and mushed them together to see his cute pout. He tried to struggle out of your grip, and when you let go of his cheeks he was glaring at you. But you didn't let yourself be fooled by his handsome face, instead trusting his blushing ears that he wasn't as opposed. And with a last peck in-between his eyebrows, you flew away as you wanted to get out of your sweaty clothes to later spend time with the young wizard and not cleaning brooms.
--
That's it, I have come to realise my inability to write a One shot under 5k. Bye.

Ancestor Work:
There are a couple of types of ancestors that have the potential to be worked with and honored. These different types of ancestors have other connections to you and can help you out in various ways. From these practices, you understand that your ancestors are still with you in some form and can still help impact your life. You will be able to honor and communicate with your ancestors to gain insight and understanding that you might not have gotten any other way. You can build relationships with all of those you have a connection with already that you may not even know that you are connected to. As I categorize them here, the types of ancestors are blood ancestors, associated ancestors, land ancestors, and tradition ancestors.
Blood Ancestors:
Your blood ancestors are any entity from which one is descended, going back to prehistoric times. You will be able to determine more of your blood ancestor lineage through historical records or DNA testing. Through the power of working with your blood ancestors, you can more closely connect with yourself and your body's lineage. This includes entities, not Homo sapiens, connected to you from human evolution.
Associated Ancestors:
Associated ancestors are ancestors that you consider part of your lineage but are not connected to you by blood. These would be friends and family members that are not blood related, and these individuals are connected to you in such a way that you have considered them worthy of your ancestral veneration. This includes non-human animals.
Land Ancestors:
Land Ancestors are those who lived on the land before you and who also called it home. Land ancestors are knowledgeable about the area and are significant entities to contact if you want to work with the land better. This also includes non-human animals.
Tradition Ancestors:
Tradition ancestors are ancestors who practiced or were a part of a tradition or group you are now a part of. These types of ancestors are connected via practices and understandings. This would be like practicing magick and then honoring the magickal practitioners before you. These ancestors would be able to provide guidance and understanding around your tradition and the practices of a specific group or way of thinking.
Connecting, Honoring, and Working With Your Ancestors:
To connect with your ancestors, you should first spend time learning about them and how they did things. Look into their lives, the things they did, and the Legacy they left behind. Learn about their likes and interests, and study them as thoroughly as possible. Looking into the tradition that you practice and how they honor their ancestors is also a good way of understanding your ancestors. This information may provide you with insights that will allow you to honor and work with them more effectively. You are also able to pick and choose what ancestors you work with in case you do not want to work with some for specific reasons.
You can honor your ancestors by dedicating actions in their name, building shrines to them, and making offerings to their spiritual beings. You can perform ancestral prayers to communicate, venerate your ancestors, and even ask for aid. You can also invite your ancestors into your dreams so that you may interact in the dreamscape.
Setting up ancestral shrines and altars allows you to make a spiritual connection to your ancestors and to have a place where that spiritual connection is grounded. You will want to make sure that this place is cleansed physically and spiritually wherever you say it up. In these places, you will be able to communicate with your ancestors telling them about your life and being while also being able to provide them with offerings. Through these places of communication, you will also be able to ask your ancestors for help and advice in many aspects of your life, and your ancestors may help you by protecting you and guiding you through the course of your life.
The ancestor shrines and altars can be very simple or can be extravagant. They can include pictures of your ancestors, items that you associate with them, graveyard dirt from their graves, items they owned, or even pieces of them, much like bones or ashes. You would also be able to include things such as ritual supplies and places for offerings. You could go through the process of offering them something that you know that they enjoyed in their lives or things that you think they might like. You can also meditate at these places to bring your ancestors into your meditations so that they will be able to meditate with you, and you will be able to communicate with them in that liminal space. You can go through the process of bringing power to your shrines and altars by calling forth your ancestors to be in this place and bless the area in which it is.

Hey!! How do I transmute energy? Like from someone’s hex on me? Or overall how to do this? Do u have any resources or recommendations or anything 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
So... here's the thing. I'm an intuitive and eclectic practitioner, and pretty private about my personal workings (as you should be too. Can't be giving out the blueprints and schematics of your lair with all the secret passages circled in red ink. There's a reason this shit was supposed to be kept on the down low). All I can say is that there are no crystals and jars lying around my house to break or steal or otherwise render useless. Maybe someone else can point you to an obscure grimoire or a shiny crystal to spend big bucks on to solve all your problems, but that's not how I do things. I don't have a spell for you, only theory.
Hopefully you know the basics of energy work and warding and aura manipulation, and a general understanding of animism and alchemy and whatever divination method you use to receive messages from the many types of incorporeal. Experience in astral workings would also be good too honestly. If not, you can search em on my blog there's definitely more than a few master posts here to get you started.
As we've all heard, good defense is the best offense so start with banishing, cleansing and warding, followed by a recharge. This is a good time for any aura/energy manipulation on yourself as well as your spaces. Gotta start with a blank canvas. If this is gibberish to you... girl idk get to studying bc transmutation is not beginner shit. If you got all that down tho...
First off, having the outer layer of your ward be 'sticky' is a good start. Instead of energy bouncing back, it gets stuck, trapped. this can turn into a layer of grime though, so you have to have a purification process for it. Think like... how plants take in CO2 (deadly to humans) and give us oxygen (life sustaining) and in the same vein, what we exhale is what they inhale. Or oysters, filter feeders in the ocean who take in detritus and sustain themselves off of it while returning cleaner water to the ecosystem. Chicken manure is used as fertilizer for crops that feed us. Spiders catch pests in their webs.
If you're into animism, nurture a symbiotic relationship. Feed the harmful energy to something that lives on it, and in exchange for nourishing it, the 'waste' it gives off is something helpful to you. There are a lot of ways to go about this, I encourage you to use your imagination. Look around at what you got, and do the best you can with that. Transmutation is all around us if you just know where to look.
Either way. Once it's purified, you can apply it to whatever you want. Wards are a great start though. A self sustainable ward goes a whole long way towards peace of mind.
My main piece of advice is never do the transmutation inside your own energetic body. (Well, not never, but that's mad advanced and if you have to ask this you're not ready for all that). (This is said with love and care and concern not condescension). (Exceptions made for shadow work, or any working done with your own energy. That is also transmutation, also related to the aura and astral work i mentioned above, and a whole other beast entirely). Externalize it, separate the malignant energy from yourself if it isn't already (aka caught in the wards before it could get to you and/or banished etc), and then host the purification process outside of yourself. Also, dont be scared to ask your spirit guides/gods/ancestors/etc for help, if you work with any.
Trust your intuition, ask your guides for, yknow, guidance, and don't be too scared to actually try something new or experimental.

Hi, I’m new to the Tumblr pagan/polytheist-sphere, and I was inspired by my research on Sappho and Aphrodite (I'm slowly working on defining modern Sapphic rhetoric and modern Sapphic online and offline spaces) for my MA thesis to look into polytheism. I' also identify as a sapphic woman so this topic is in general very fun for me to learn about. I really like your blog, and I'm curious if you just worship deities, or do you worship heroes, spirits, etc. as well? Would you be interested in worshiping Sappho, for example? Also, would it be okay if I included your answer in my project? If not, totally cool! ☺️ and if so, thats great too. (I can def give you more info about what I'm doing if you'd like as well.)
Hi! I’d be more than happy for my answer to be in your project(if it makes sense, if not I'm happy to try and explain more). I may also put a few disclaimers in here just so that people don't think I'm against their beliefs, just that I don't personally follow them and I support others that may have differing beliefs,! (can you tell I get anxious easily)
I currently only worship deities simply because of their aspects of them being divine beings and having domain over situations, much like other religions I will look towards them for guidance in situations and for help in aiding me when I feel there is a need, and simply try to create a relationship with them. I will find myself more relying on deities/gods as I believe that while they won't influence everything or always answer my prayers, they do have the power to alter situations in their domain and if they were to answer then they would have the ability to do so. (when I say domain I mean the things they are known to have control over, such as Lord Apollon and music).
I have been looking into heroes, but (from what I've found and it may be incorrect) it’s a very different process than to the gods, you're more honouring them than worshipping. I've found myself thinking of heroes in situations that may be similar to theirs, but I am often not going to them for situations where I feel genuinely in need for guidance, as I would prefer to go towards one of my gods instead.
With spirits I find its a slight more difficult topic for myself as I distinguish them in 2 or 3 categorise.
(This part might be controversial, and I don't frown on those that do this, its just a personal opinion) If we're talking about spirits of those that have passed, such as ancestors, I'm a big believer in leaving the dead undisturbed and respecting their beliefs(such as how they're buried and what with), and as I have no knowledge of what their relationship to spirituality was I don't want to do something against their belief. Such as some people believe that communicating with the dead is some form of 'devil worship' so trying to work with them after their dead would be disrespectful of their beliefs, and while their opinion may have changed after being dead or be willing to communicate, I would much rather keep my distance and leave them to rest, as while others have reasons to communicate with these spirits, I don't.
Additionally, I wouldn't include heroes into that section as spirits as I feel they have been communicated with for years and many people have positive relationships with them so I feel as though we have an understanding on their belief with communication after death.
If we're more referencing spirits in the daemones sense (personified spirits), then I do actively worship them, such as Lady Mnemosyne, and I hold them to the same level if divinity as the rest of the Olympians, much like I do with the Titans. I find that that I may think of them or worship them during times of heightened specific emotions, such as if I'm having a period of disrupted sleep, I may pray towards Lord Hypnos, or if I'm looking for justice in a situation I may look towards Lady Dike as well as other gods.
If we're talking about spirits that don't fit into these categorise then I have very little interaction or opinion on them, but if people have other information on them I'd be willing to look into it and it may alter my opinion.
(I would personally place Sappho into the 'heroes' section) I’m not sure if I would worship Sappho simply because of what I personally relate her too, which is literature and writing. While I do enjoy these things, and may look to her for inspiration if I'm writing or reading something, but its not the most prominent aspect of my life and I would be more likely to turn to the gods in these situations. I also know some people may worship her in relation to her sexuality and relation to love, but, while I very rarely pray for love related matters anyway, I would feel more comfortable looking towards gods that have domain over it, however I can see why some people may try to get advice from heroes.
Also sorry for the late reply, I was trying to gather my thoughts on the subject and lay it out in a way that makes sense, and feel free to send another ask if you want any more info or if this doesn't explain it well. (I may also edit it if I find any mistakes or feel I could explain better, but I hope this makes sense)

not-so-nice edition ask: fear for Synne and midnight for Camy 👀
Tumblr media
Ask meme here!
Tumblr media
fear: What is your OC's greatest fear? What do they do when confronted with it? Are they open with their fear, or do they hide it away?
Cliche as it is, her greatest fear still is and will always be a loss of control.
No matter how benevolent a silver wyrm would be or could be, I do not believe for a second that they are still in touch with mortal beings in any way that matters. So even in the best effort to try and help its progeny would still be beyond what mortals could handle. The idea that Synne was essentially so overwhelmed it caused her to transform beyond her control was terrifying in the moment and had it also not been by the guidance of her ancestor, either Ansur or her ancestor would have tore her asunder with their magic.
It was always the risk with being a sorcerer, and moreso a sorcerer of such a powerful and chaotic bloodline. The cost of failure is not only losing face, as I think many wrongly assume of her, it's dying a death so cold it would burn her away.
But it's not as though she shows it. The first thing she learned was how to mask how hard she worked for the power she has now.
guilt: What is your OC guilty about? How do they handle their guilt? Do they try to avoid guilt, or do they accept it?
I don't think she feels guilty of much for very long. I think after the fighting is over, Baldurs Gate is saved, the Netherbrain defeated (and we'll see what happens with the Crown of Karsus...) I think she is worried about what she leaves behind in Evereska.
Her life was planned out for her and a part of her was satisfied with that. But now? All of those plans are gone, decades upon decades in the making, up in smoke and all for the "selfish" reason of having autonomy over herself and her life.
But that lingering guilt doesn't last for long, not in the face of her new life and new responsibilities post-Baldur's Gate
mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?
Her whole "Ice queen" persona was largely a mask. Or at least a performance of it was. After all it was more than just an act, it was a goal, it was a state of being she always worked towards. She needed to fake the ease that she needed in order to earn the right to her station.
Because it wasn't enough to survive her power awakening, it wasn't enough to wield it without freezing from the inside out, she had to do it with proficiency, she had to do it with grace, and she had to appear as if she was a natural to it. It was hard work and sacrifice but none of it looked like it affected her, it couldn't in order for her to become who she thought she wanted to be.
So she didn't let it. She let herself be an "ice queen." Until she didn't.
Camy "Rosa" Rose
(not going to post the same art here but here's the other ask)
midnight: What keeps your OC up at night? Do they have nightmares? Fears? Anxieties? What do they do in the small hours of the morning when they should be sleeping?
The fear and worry lessened when Orion took most of the business decisions off her shoulders and began managing that aspect of the band. She has a lot less anxiety since that happened as well, having only one set of bills and contracts is enough for her, thank you very much (but at least Chaos Anthem doesn't have to deal with a shitty landlord.)
Most of the time she's all right, but in order to get into the zone to write she needs to turn inwards and allow herself to realize all of the lingering fear and nerves she holds underneath her confidence. It's those times she tries to come to terms with all but her biggest problems, the problems she doesn't dare touch, the problems she can't touch. She tries to write those vulnerabilities into lyrics late at night -- imagining, humming, singing, playing her guitars, laying in random places in her apartment trying to get new perspectives on her thoughts.
It can last all night, call it a bad habit she couldn't shake. But a lot of times she can get something out, maybe write out some other thoughts for context to get back into the mood without the need to dig down deep again, and then go back to sleep without dreams or nightmares.
She doesn't have nightmares anymore. And she always regrets the days she stayed up all night deep in her feelings, lyrics, and music the next morning. Mostly because of the lack of sleep. Mostly.

It is 2023
I am... cautious about making any overly-optimistic claims about the new year, so I’m just going to say I hope your 2023 is full of peace and reasons to be joyful.
Speaking of the reasons to be joyful, here is a snippet (about 800 words) of the Hippolyta/Karathen I wrote a few weeks ago. This fic/doc is just something I poke at every so often, and when I’m finally done with it, I’ll post it (eventually).
Anyway, hope you are all doing well and staying healthy! Please enjoy :P
______________________________________________________
But she is beautiful.
Hippolyta never felt threatened by the creature, not even in those moments before she ever heard that silly, rumbling voice—moments meant to terrify her, to cow the Queen of the Amazons into submission before the mighty Atlantean King. The Karathen is their crowning achievement, the pinnacle of the Atlanteans’ might: perhaps they are a flighty people, delicate and scatter-brained and fickle, crushed again and again by the resilient and resourceful humans—but theirs is a history that spans back generations, a lineage made up of legends. They hold in their exquisite hands the power to conquer terrors, to call forward monsters at a whim.
For theirs is a perfect marriage of magic and elegance—Homo Magi and nymph, an extraordinary mixture of beauty and power. History will remember this, rather than the unimportant truth that they have been conquered by the fist of Zeus’ barbarians.
The humans are not evil, Hippolyta tells her sisters again and again—during long speeches in the Senate halls, during pleasant tours on horseback along the cliffs of their mighty city, during hushed conversations in bed, those long conversations that bleed into the morning hours after a tireless night. They are simply reckless, and they are easily swayed. They must be given guidance, taught in the ways of justice and compassion.
The Karathen has no concerns about such things.
She is concerned with the things that are important in her world: she worries over the safety of the tadpoles that are beginning to hatch in a murky corner of her pond, she complains about the crotchety old goatfish that chases and harasses the smaller goatfish, and she regards this new King of Atlantis with joyous affection, interpreting his interest and barrels of sausages as signs of love and care.
You do not know what love is, Hippolyta wants to tell her as they sit together in the Karathen’s cave. It is a horrible prison—dank and damp and completely without light. Perhaps the Karathen can see in the dark, inheriting eyes that evolved for generations to see clearly even in the deepest depths of the sea, but that does not mean that she should be left in the dark like this, left for weeks on end to sit in a puddle in a cave, waiting patiently for those fleeting moments when the King has a visitor he wishes to impress.
“They’ve not all hatched, though,” the Karathen is telling her, and the tentacle resting on Hippolyta’s knee curls up slightly, a sign of concern. “If they don’t hatch soon, they will be too small. The others will be bigger, and they’ll fight.”
“They will hatch,” Hippolyta murmurs, reaching down to stroke at the tentacle that is prodding at her hands, soft cups whispering over the rings on her fingers and bracelets on her wrists. The Karathen loves precious stones and metals, a gift she seems to have also received from her ancestors, those giant fire-breathing serpents who terrorized the mountain tribes, seeking out the wealth of their mines. “The season has been chilly this year. But the days will warm, and they will hatch.”
The Karathen seems reassured; at least, her eyes brighten at Hippolyta’s voice, and she moves her giant head to take a better look at her. There is a shy smile on her terrifying face, a sure sign that she is about to say something that is so disarmingly charming and innocent, Hippolyta would never believe for a moment that anyone could be so coldhearted as to capture this creature, much less imprison her, chain her, fear her.
“What season did you hatch? Was it warm?”
It’s an unexpected question, and the image it conjures cause an unpleasant seizing at Hippolyta’s immortal heart, because—
Hera, Queen of Olympus, wading forward into the water, a graceful arm outstretched, a dazzling smile on her face…
“It was warm,” Hippolyta says, forcing away the image of her estranged lover and patron. “We were called forward from the lake in the middle of summer, during the Festival of Aphrodite, so the water was comfortable. But the Amazons are not as affected by temperature as the humans.”
“Or fish. Or frogs.”
It is an unintentional rebuke, but Hippolyta finds herself smiling all the more at the Karathen’s stubborn voice, knowing that the creature has joined the ranks of her sisters, reprimanding her for her unswerving focus on the humans, reminding her that she must extend this concern to all of the tribes that share this Earth, not only those that she was created to guide.
“Or fish or frogs,” Hippolyta agrees, reaching out to stroke her hand over a scaly neck. “Or Kaijus.”

Hey, my question is, how do I find my roots and feel at home somewhere.
For context, I grew up in a very abusive and hostile household that never gave me any sense of "home". For me, that's just a word.
3 of my grandparents came from different European countries to my homecountry, during WWII. They faked their birth certificates, cut all ties, in two cases they didn't even tell anyone the truth. We found out when I was a teenager and them long dead. I am super interested in all of it, one even was of aristocracy but... I only met one of those grandparents ever (the others died before I was born) and didn't know her very well. I often consider, learning a language, joining my dad working on our ancestor tree, maybe go to the place where they were born. But then I ask myself "What for?" and "Which of them?" Why, for example, learn the language of my paternal grandfather if I A never met him, B from what I've heard I wouldn't have liked him C I have 2 other foreign grandparents and languages to potentially learn. Is there even any sense in seeking a feeling of home in something so unimportant in my daily life? Or should I try to make myself a home where I live? And how? This all leaves me pretty confused...
Hey nonny,
Finding a sense of home can be difficult, especially for those who haven't really ever felt it. You asked whether you should try to make one where you live, or if you should try to find one in your past, and I think the answer is a bit of both.
Looking into family history and ancestry isn't entirely irrelevant. In fact, it means a lot to many many people. Knowing where you come from, your culture, your history... all of that can and does play a big part in how your family, how you came to be. It can provide a lot of answers, and can really help some people find a sense of roots and self.
However, finding a home in the past can lead to a lot of problems with the present. Your past should provide knowledge and history for you to expand. It should serve as a foundation for you to build your own house on in the present.
Understanding where you came from is useful because it helps direct you where to go. It tells you where you came from, significant events that shaped your family. It can tell you of things you probably shouldn't do, and of things that you should. It can give you wisdom and guidance from those who came before you so that you can make better decisions for your future than they did. It can show you their beliefs and traditions so you may carry them on if they are good, or dismiss them if they are bad. Shedding light on your past is meant to help you decide the kind of future that you want. It is not meant to live in.
So I encourage you to explore your past, learn about your family. See where they came from, what they did. Let them guide you in how you build your future, but do not let their lives keep you from building your own. Do not get stuck in their homes so much that you forget to make one for yourself. Use their wisdom and mistakes to figure out what is right for you.
Go out and meet people, explore places, learn more about the world around you, who you are, what you want. And when you discover new wants, new people, new places... then look back. Maybe one of your ancestors has experienced similar before. Did it end well? Did it go poorly? If poorly, then why? What can they teach you?
I find that when I am stuck, looking back can help, so long as I don't forget to apply it to my present situation. In my culture, ancestors and our past are very important, but they should be used as support and guidance and wisdom, not as a place to live.
I realize that this may seem a very difficult concept or my words may come off confusing, but all in all... your past is not irrelevant, and there is reason to seek more about it, and it can help you find home, but it is not your home itself. Your home is in the present, nonny, and as you explore your past you should be exploring your present too. If you want to learn languages or go new places inspired by your past then that's wonderful! Using your past to help you expand your present or explore what currently exists is amazing. Just remember that you're not only going there or learning their languages for them and the past, but for you and your future.
In regards to how to choose which new language to learn, I recommend not making it about which ancestor you like best, but making it about which will better serve your future. look at the languages they spoke, and try choosing whichever one you think will be most useful to you if you were to learn it. New languages can open up so many more pathways "in this capitalistic world" like higher paying jobs, or connections with people that offer new world views and perspectives for example.
I hope this helped at least some, nonny.

Hi. I was wondering how do you communicate with your guides and soulmate? How do you listen/receive their messages? I feel like my guides try to communicate with me but sometimes the messages are so hard to listen to.
Well I’m at a place where we’ve established such a connection over my lifetime that I feel I’m in constant contact usually. I mean when I’m really struggling and feeling abandoned, I go out in nature and talk to the ocean or the moon. You can talk to whatever you want, but I have always connected with the moon and ocean. And I just talk to them like I talk to my bestie. Sometimes I go to the ocean and I’m just like hey what’s up, or with the moon, sometimes I’m like what the fuck is this? Like I talk to them like close friends. Because they are.
That’s something I’ve learned being in Hawai’i. The earth and everything on it is our past and future, our ancestors. And we barely get to know them. The reason the loss of land in Hawai’i hits differently is because in this culture your land is your family that you spend every day with. So getting out into nature is more than just being outside, it’s connecting to a community. I see my beach that way. I go visit the ocean almost daily to talk to her and see what’s up, I go to the same beach every day just to see how she changes. And the ocean there has a different connection with me than in other places, because I talk to her at this beach. I’ve learned that’s a whole reason to be alive…
When they want me to listen I can’t not listen, it’s repeated phrases in my head until I write it down. It’s hearing the same song in multiple places. It’s being yelled at in a dream. Is it that you can’t hear it, or that you are just confused? Because sometimes we get messages we don’t fully grasp until later. You will know what you’re meant to know when you are meant to know it. Take notes of messages you’re getting now so you can look back in 6 months. This act of recording and returning to insight can help improve your communication with spirit because you begin to understand patterns. Eventually you get to a place where you don’t need insight because you’ve surrendered to the point the universe is carrying you in flow and you’ve learned you don’t need to know anything until you know it.
None of us are always there, not even me, but I do ask for less guidance now than I used to and it’s because I understand the communication with spirit better now. Which is also why I can’t do readings on myself, because then I’m just told what I already know. Although sometimes confirmation is nice. Hope this helps! Thanks for sending in this ask and giving me an opportunity to share this insight with others.

THE LOTUS FESTIVAL: CONCLUSION
"attention, everyone!" the lion councilor kahuzoa announces from the top of the staircase, voice loud and booming, managing to fill the entire ballroom despite its massive size. the music stops immediately, and the bustle below them calms to murmurs. those closest to the staircase look up, giving deyuis's leaders their attention as requested.
"thank you for coming today," kahuzoa continues, proud, albeit close-lipped, smile on his face. "250 years ago today, we all came together to create lotus campus. as you can see, it's stood strong and grown immeasurably since then. it's quite impressive," he chuckles. "of course, this is worthy of celebration! we're glad you could enjoy the festivities."
thegrorthius speaks next: "it certainly is worth celebrating, but it is also worth remembering. many lives were lost in the conflicts before the lotus campus's inception, and we should be grateful for their sacrifices, which served as great inspiration to work together to create noyillai. without these wars and loss of life, there would be no need for the neutral zone, and so something beautiful arose from the violence. may our ancestors look upon us proudly for this accomplishment." he bows his head politely; thoughtfully, and the other leaders are all quiet for a moment. thegrorthius, as old as he is, is inarguably respected by the others, his words always considered carefully, and often heeded.
before long, it is andreas to speak up. "for the first time in centuries, deyuis is at peace. there is no longer any war." he pauses, and it's laurelia that gets the hint and claps enthusiastically. some in the audience follow suit, while others don't. "i am very grateful--"
there's a near deafening shatter, and suddenly, a monster flings itself through the now broken window closest to andreas. it's a grotesque thing: it hovers above the ground, tentacles flowing from behind it, attached to a massive eye.
misu is the one that reacts first, drawing her sword and slicing the creature.
"what the hell is that?" ysmene hollers, drawing her own sword.
just as she does, more of the creatures explode through windows, this time in the ballroom itself. some of the guests scream, and all chaos breaks loose, people trying to escape, the guards on standby trying to fight.
"mogalls," the archsage replies, voice troubled. "we sometimes see them in omaduun."
"their appearances historically have coincided with the use of dangerous dark magic," thegrorthius adds, moving to stand in front of faeryn; he knows from experience, as he was alive among some of the first dark mages in existence.
andreas turns on the archsage. "you did this," he claims, with little room for argument.
"for what reason would i summon mogalls to a celebration like this?" the archsage fires back.
"your people will do anything to sow chaos! you expect me to believe it's a coincidence that you finally show up to a meeting and these things do too?"
"gentlemen!" ysmene loudly interrupts. with her sword in one hand, she motions with her free one to an approaching mogall. "get busy."
it's enough to stop their bickering for now.
"kahuzoa," faeryn says, somehow calmly and urgently at once. she stands with kahuzoa and thegrorthius in front and back of her, protecting her from any oncoming attacks given her inability to fight.
"if you are able to fight," kahuzoa's booming voice echoes through the ballroom once again. "gather your weapons and join us in neutralizing this threat. otherwise, find safety as soon as possible. look to laurelia for guidance."
he then shifts into his lion form and lets out a roar that does little to disturb the mogalls.
"daldona and gleil help us," laurelia mutters under her breath from her place in the chaos on the ballroom floor itself. she raises her voice a mere moment after: "do not exit through the broken windows! you may take shelter in the eastern part of the hall where there are no windows, or use the north and south exits to evacuate. your weapons are being held in rooms by the doors you entered in, sorted in alphabetical order based on what name you gave upon entry. i know everyone is frightened but the entryway to these rooms is small, so please form a line outside the door and move to find your weapons as quickly as possible. we will prevail!"
– ♕ –
well...this really throws a wrench in celebrating lotus campus's 250th anniversary, doesn't it? even though the lotus festival event is technically over, it's also...not quite. that being said, the first part of the event is over, meaning you may no longer level up from or start more festival threads taking place before the mogall attack. you may, however, write about anything mentioned in this post and the events following it that you'd like. more details on that coming up in an additional post!

👻 It’s pretty much spooky season and I just wanted to hop on here and explain why so many people consider Halloween to be their New Year. October is everyone’s favorite month and Fall is a season loved by many. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense for the year to end and begin on Halloween. It’s called Samhain (pronounced Sah-Win) and it’s one of the biggest celebrations if you follow the Witches Year.
🍂 On Halloween (Samhain) we lay to rest all that we’ve struggled with over the year. We focus on death and rebirth, what must be left behind in the old year so that new things may grow in the new year? Throughout November-January the Earth goes dark and so do we. This is a preparation period, the preparation for spring, where new seeds are planted for our future. During this time we self reflect, we discover new parts of who we are, we retreat and we put to use the wisdom acquired in the old year so that we may grow even further in the new year.
❄️ In Winter we retreat. We cleanse ourselves of the old, we let die what must die and we pluck the weeds of the soul so that new seeds take root. This is a time for self reflection, family, creating warmth for ourselves when earth cannot and it heightens our appreciation for the warmer months. Shadow work, honest self reflection, cleansing and nurturing the self are all major parts of Winter and the beginning of the year.
🌱 Then in Spring, things start to slowly come back to life. Earth prepares to wake up and so do we. When spring time rolls around, we’ve left behind toxic patterns and behaviors and will replace them with new life and new ways of living. We plant our seeds of intent and interests. We speak to the gods/goddesses and tell them what we wish to bring to life and we make our plans to do so. The goal is to prepare for the season of Life, which is summer.
🌻 When summer rolls around, we’re buzzing. Earth is finally warm enough to enjoy again and we spend a lot of time outside. Our skin is kissed by the sun and the seeds we plant in the spring begin to sprout. The habits we worked hard to break in the winter are finally behind us and we can step into a new chapter of self. We bring to life our distant dreams and we manifest that which our hearts long for the most.
🍁 Summer comes to an end, which is where we are right now. We’re in the middle of summer and fall, life and death. We’re learning how to say goodbye to the warmth and the life that surrounds us. We know that soon it will be back again, and that there is more inner work to do now. We give thanks for all that was given to us in the spring and summer. We look back at all we’ve manifested for ourselves, even the smallest of things. We say goodbye to the Sun God as the Dark Goddess takes back her throne and we prepare for death once more.
♎️ Libra Season, which is from September 23rd to October 23rd, prepares us for Scorpio season, the season of death. Right now in the yearly cycle we should be reflecting on that which no longer serves us so that we may remove it from our lives during the New Year.
🦋 My inner self has changed drastically ever since I began to follow the natural rhythm of life on earth. Following the wheel of the year has helped with my seasonal depression too. Transforming is a slow process but it’s possible, you just have to be patient with yourself and the world around you. If you feel like something is missing in your life, if you’re trying to change but have no idea how, look into the Wheel of the Year, and on this Halloween, treat it as a new year and ask spirit for guidance. Step into synchronicity with Earth because she is the ultimate mother, the ultimate nurture, the greatest life we know. She will never steer you wrong, she will always ensure that you stay on track. That’s why Halloween is the New Year, because It makes natural, perfect sense for it to be. Because long ago our ancestors made it that way for a reason, and now we have to honor that again. January New Year is fun and all, but Halloween New Year is real and truly life changing. Give it a try.

Advice to Work on Yourself 🍎 in September 2022: Taurus
Wheel of Fortune - The Moon - Ace of Cups
Regarding: 4 Swords
In the preshuffle, I saw the part of Peter Pan where the kids were all standing on the clock hand of Big Ben, and saying “second star to the right and straight on till morning”. I haven’t watched that movie in…I can’t even remember how long. The first card out to flip was 6 Cups, normally I don’t pay attention to that either, but it fits the theme. Mercury is retrograde through October 1st, which tends to bring up situations & sometimes people from the past, any area of the past. In your case, I’m getting more of young childhood. For most of you I’m not so much getting a person coming back, as a karmic situation coming up that brings significant understanding to something that once had you in the dark or affected you in some way. The biggest message in your artist card is to take a look in someone else’s mirror. So whatever this situation is, it’s karmic in nature, and you’ll definitely know it when you come across it, because you’ve seen it all play out before somehow, and you’re getting closure.
What this is about will differ. Some of you could be dealing with health related issues, some of you may have lost a job recently. Some of you are putting an end to a cycle of following spontaneous impulses when it comes to relationships vs long term compatibility or stability, it doesn’t have to be romantic in nature. Some of you may be giving up on a business venture based on someone else’s negative experiences & advice (which is a good thing, like a heads up). Whatever situation you’re involved in, or whatever you’re ending and redirecting, it’s because you don’t want a repeat of the same story, someone else’s story. Maybe even your own, from a long time ago. Wheel of Fortune here shows time progression, karma, destiny, and success in starting down a new path. You’re realizing a lot about where you want to go, by realizing where you don’t want to go, and it’s going to turn out well for you no matter what.
The advice is to consider, understand, heal, closure, and release. Not to repeat any cycles, those are over with and you’re on to better things.
Animal Oracle: Pueo (Hawaiian Owl) 🦉
“Your ancestral spirit guides are offering you guidance now, so pay close attention to signs and omens from them.”
You can receive guidance from your ancestors in the spirit world, no matter what their age, when they passed, or how many generations it’s been since they walked the Earth. They’re offering you help in many ways right now, so pay close attention to the signs they’re giving you. These can come from many things, things you see, like animals, hear, feelings, or thoughts. Sometimes they appear in vivid dreams. If something you see or hear triggers a thought of an ancestor, trust that they know that and are there with you. Repetition is key, in whatever ways they’re trying to contact you, it will happen over and over again. Regardless of who they are, always give thanks to them, and always reach out to ask them for help. If they can, they will, or they’ll show you how to.
Artist Oracle: CINDY SHERMAN
- Don’t be yourself. Be yourselves.
- Tell the truth in every fiction.
- Take a good long look in someone else’s mirror.
Advice:
- Learn About Emotional Intelligence
- Help a Worthy Cause
- Move More
Charms:
Key 🔑 on Cindy, especially “take a good look in someone else’s mirror” shows either a personal relationship, story, or experience coming up in your mind for a reason. Whether to warn you of repeated mistakes, providing a sense of understanding, acceptance, and closure, or simply closing a chapter for good and feeling good about doing so. It’s best to look at an experience as an extension of yourself, because you seem to understand where another person is/was coming from.
Four Leaf Clover 🍀 on Wheel of Fortune shows nothing but luck and good fortune coming towards you, and The Moon & 4 Swords show this is all an inner healing process, not necessarily involving another person at all, more of something you know being validated. Spirit sends you messages, memories, even experiences for a reason and that’s the mindset you seem to be in this month. For some of you it’s because of your good fortune that this is even taking place, and there’s an air of humbling yourself to another’s experience. It feels good.

For the crafting ask, if snd only if you want to: 🌼🌿🍉
Oooh these are some interesting questions~~
🌼 Do you have a project (current or a past one) you want to talk about?
There's two I'm currently working on that I've also been working on for a while now, but I'm just going to talk about one so this answer doesn't get super long 😅
I'd love to talk a bit about the first ribbon skirt that I've ever made! I'm using two fabrics for it, both with designs I love and that I'm excited to wear, and four ribbon colours. All the materials come from an Indigenous-owned shop that I've loved for years (4 Generations Creations), and the artist and owner of this shop is the reason I feel comfortable wearing a ribbon skirt in my daily life, so it was cool to get my fabric and ribbons from her!! I'm hand sewing because I don't like using a sewing machine, and there's a total of eight panels that make up the skirt, so it is taking a while to make 😅
It's a bit of a non-traditional style because I'm making it with a tie-waist so that it's adjustable, and it's also going to be a lot fuller than ribbon skirts typically are, but I want to wear it every day and I prefer fuller skirts (they feel less "feminine" somehow? and also I can wear shorts under them and then run around like I'm still wearing pants and it's great). Most importantly, it's going to have some nice big pockets!!
🌿 What tips would you give a beginner? What is something you wish you had know when you started?
I have two big tips. 1) Take care of your wrists!! Beading and sewing can both be really hard on your wrists so it's important to take care of them. Do some wrist stretches, work on your wrist strength and grip strength, try to remember to take breaks, and if your wrist starts hurting - stop working!! Some beaders like to use a soft wrist brace for extra support while beading, and if your wrists tire easily, that might be something you want to try too!
2) Your work doesn't need to be perfect!! Especially as a beginner, it's hard to get tension right when sewing or beading, and it's also hard to get the spacing between beads/stitches right. The first couple pieces will look funny, and your lines will be wonky, but that's okay! You took your own two hands, and you made something, and that's beautiful. No matter how "aesthetic" your creation turns out, you still made it, you still learnt from it, you did an activity that people have been doing for thousands of years and that's so cool. So, don't be hard on yourself if your seam is crooked or there's a weird gap between your beads, your ancestor a hundred years ago also had a crooked seam and a weird bead gap. You're human and you're learning - it's not going to be perfect and all those imperfections are part of what make your work so magical~ don't let the fear of imperfection prevent you from finding a craft/hobby you enjoy
🍉 Are you a planner, or are you more of a "eh, we'll see how this one goes" -type of crafter?
In general, I'm a "we'll see how this one goes" type crafter. I'm very much driven by the wants and desires of the bees buzzing in my brain, so my crafting tends to be more impulsive than planned out 😅 the most planning I usually do is drawing out a template to follow while I'm doing flat-stitch beading because I cannot do anything more complex than a circle without giving myself some guidance, but the colour choices and bead placement are usually made on the spot, in the moment. The most planning I've done is attempted to figure out how much fabric I need for a specific sewing project before buying the fabric (it was all based on a guess. a good guess luckily, but not an educated one. I am a chaotic crafter and it does stress me out sometimes but also it's fun to be a crafting gremlin) Oh! I did make a paper mock-up one time because I could not figure out how to fold and cut the fabric and needed to use something to practice. Maybe that's actually the most planning I've done 😅
Send me a crafting ask!
