okay. I've been doing a lot of thinking about a no-Order-66 au, and where the now-relieved-from-duty GAR clones would go. And, obviously... clone planet. I think most people stumble upon that, kind of, and I know the brothers are so devoted to each other that I doubt they would want to leave each other behind. I'm sure many groups would split to their own planets, because that's just the way people work--not everyone is going to want to go to the same place.

And I'm thinking a lot about the culture that would develop over time.

First: there would be a bigger clone culture--they all went through the same training and war, same facilities on Kamino. There's so much that they share, other than just their faces. It links them all. So there's that.

Second: cultures within battalions/corps/etc. After all, not everyone had the same instructors on Kamino, and not everyone served under the same generals and commanders, and not everyone went on the same campaigns. Those experiences influenced how they turned out as people--after all, Plo Koon is a very different Jedi than, say, Depa Billaba. The cultures that influenced individual Jedi influence their clones, along with personality and all that jazz. AND clones would grow differently in different experiences. Like, those who stayed planetside the whole war have totally different jargon than those who served solely on ships. Not to mention, brothers who served with each other are going to group naturally to their own, rather than others. Of course, there's going to be some that are similar! 212st and 501st would band together, having formed such a close bond with their generals' lineages. They knew each other very well.

Thus, Clone Culture reigns supreme on Clone Worl, with its own intricacies colliding and collaborating to create a rich, varying society.

And that's even before clones settle down.

They obviously have to bring in new people to the planet, because... obviously they would not be able to reproduce with one another. These new cultures from these new partners would influence everything! The children from these families would have clone culture and the culture from their other parent(s)! This would shape the next generation, and the next, and the next! The culture grows infinitely more diverse, and yet still cements itself into the growing civilisation of Clone World.

And, considering they're all related, it would be some time before the generations of children could intermingle with one another. They're all cousins, and I'm not sure how many generations it would take for it to not... fuck up their kids real bad... if they reproduced.

So, in response to that, I'm thinking maybe there's going to be some... ritual? Rite of passage? That occurs when children grow to adults. Leaving the world to go experience other cultures, and to find someone to love (yes, as an aroace I do understand the allocentrism (?word?) involved, but. this is for a survival of a culture, man! i dont want inbreeding). This creates its own challenges to the culture (what arises when you find someone you won't love in many years but do now, and make them move to your homeworld? what happens when you leave your world behind for theirs? and all that). There's always going to be the ugly parts of a culture, and this can bring beauty and this hideousness.

Also, I don't know what to say just yet on how the advanced ageing of the first generation (unless they fix this!) influences the culture, but it's sure gonna do something!

I have many, many more thoughts, but this is all I can process into written word at the moment. But just... Ugh! Clone culture and its future!

This only further emboldens Death Watch to step up their attempts to disrupt the peace talks and could ruin any hope of Mandalore stepping further onto the galactic stage. Set against this political nightmare is the continued relationship between the Mand'alor and his secret Jedi lover. But secrets are prone to be revealed at inopportune times. A Fragile World Between Sharp Teeth Major Relationships: Commander Cody & Clone Trooper Slick, Commander Cody & Captain Rex Rating: Teen Tags & Warnings: Angst, hurt and no comfort for a sizable chunk of the fic. Some mild gore in relation to medical crisis but nothing overt. Lots of anger and dysfunctional relationships. But it will have an eventual bittersweet happy ending. Summary: Making the conscious decision to desert from the Empire was perhaps the most terrifying choice he’d ever made in his entire life. But Cody finds life on the run harder than he ever expected. When he's at his lowest, a helping hand is offered to him, but it's not one he is willing to accept so readily. Can two clones who hate each other's guts find their way to common ground and maybe even a place of healing, or will they kill one another first? A bunch of guys dressed up in Mandalorian armor showed up here demanding to see you.” His second in command said, sounding remarkably calm all things considered. Ship teasing and never quite managing to cross that line Summary: In the waning days of the war, Cody and Obi-Wan are tentatively hopeful for the future. Until news of Qui-Gon's death reaches them and that hope turns to despair with the realization that everything they'd been hoping for was now in jeopardy and the future is suddenly very uncertain. First impression

It was positive in that he has the same generically professional and polite personality all the clones tend to have when interacting with Jedi. When I first saw him in season one, I actually didn't think he'd survive. I thought it'd be a very close call and he'd sacrifice himself to save somebody else, but he was fine.

Impression now

It hasn't changed. I can't remember that many episodes where we actually learn about his character, so I have no reading on him. (I haven't completed my TCW re-watch though so there may be some interesting content for him to come.) I love his look with the cybernetic eye and all the different uniforms we see him wear.

Favorite moment

I don't think this was in TCW, but however he survived Asajj Ventress and made it through the engagement freshly missing an eye is my favorite (unseen) moment.

Idea for a story

Serious idea: Wolffe going through physical therapy and having to re-do various qualifications and types of training after his cybernetic eye is installed as part of the recovery process. There's a compelling story there that could resonate with a lot of people in similar situations.

Fun idea: The war ends and he and Fox start a high fashion design label where they're jointly basically Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada.

I've seen this idea on tumblr of him having a father-son relationship with Plo Koon, and that's not something I see or consider part of my headcanon/understanding of the characters. If we're veering off in that direction, I'd rather see some kind of mentoring relationship where they both learn a lot from each other's competencies while working with each other and develop a lot of mutual respect as people even if they have some philosophical differences.

(I dislike the idea that Jedi in general are parental figures to the clones, so that goes for Shaak Ti as well. And I'm not just saying that because I multi-ship her with Commander Colt and some other clones and that'd make it pretty fucking weird.)

Favorite relationship

Wolffe/Reader 👀 He might have a special kind of something with the guys stuck on the escape pod with him in season one, back when they legitimately thought nobody was coming to rescue them because they believed they were expendable.

My favorite non-canon relationship is his friendship with Bly in the fic Death, Feelings, and Other Inconveniences which follows the lives of a few clone commanders in achronological order. The author writes the clone commanders as influenced by Mandalorian culture, and while that's not how I think of things and not something I typically like to read, I like this story a lot and just think of it as a kind of Clone Wars AU.

Favorite headcanon

His memories of Order 66 before he removed his chip became less and less accurate with time as a psychological coping mechanism.

The galaxy falls into despair, and because you know nothing else to possibly do, you join the Rebellion alongside Bail Organa

You had been close to Padmé and consequently known Anakin and Obi-wan. Since Padmé’s tenure in the Senate, the four of you were inseparable, bonded by your wit, humor, and kindness

When everything is destroyed, you are left alone and devastated

It seems as if the darkness will never end, but then Ahsoka Tano saunters into your life and brings an opportunity to change everything

As it turns out, she is one of the few surviving Jedi, but her misadventures with the Rebellion efforts on Lothal brought her to a way of changing the past

She tells you about apparent portals in the Force discovered in an ancient Jedi Temple on the grassland planet

Few others remain who know your old friends as the two of you did, and Ahsoka feels as if you are the best candidate to travel through time

She tells you that if things go wrong in the current reality, she needs to be there to hold it together

So you are left to change the past. It takes some convincing- you know that the fate of your friends and millions of others would lie on your shoulders

But all-out war with the Empire is an ever-looming possibility, and this is a chance too great to let fall to cowardice and nerves

You accept the offer, pushing aside the doubts and every idea of what could go wrong, and stride into the Lothal temple at Ahsoka’s side

The journey through the Force is like nothing you’ve ever experienced, but you feel a dull pull from within you during the long, winding trek through the starry path. You are the one to lead Ahsoka to your mysterious destination in the world between worlds

The pull leads you to a door; in it, you see a circular picture of the halls of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, bustling with life, and pawadans and the Force, and so much light

Ahsoka peers in, and tells you with a shaking voice that this is the Jedi Temple as it was during the Clone Wars, before the Jedi and their home fell to ruin

There are no more doubts or hesitations: this is the way to bring everything and everyone back. Each innocent life will be returned if you succeed

Ahsoka hugs you, which is surprising at first, but when she looks at you, there are tears in her eyes

“May the Force be with you” is all she manages to say, but that is enough. No words could quite encapsulate what is at stake anyways, nor the danger and urgency of your mission

But you nod, take a deep breath, and step through the portal onto the stone floor of the Jedi Temple

Instantly, calm pervades you; the tension of your daily life dissipates as the steady hum of calm and order surrounds you

Since it is still war, albeit in a time of less chaos, you can only guess that Padmé will be on Coruscant, even if Obi-wan and Anakin aren’t

Luckily for you, your final days of the war were originally spent alongside the 501st, so there are few concerns over running into a past version of yourself as you resolve to change the future, and your plan is set into motion

Somewhat reluctantly, you leave the Temple behind. It fell with the Republic, and on your way to Padmé’s apartment, you fight an uneasy feeling from leaving what was once a great sanctuary

Padmé greets you with warmth, then surprise as you embrace her wordlessly and quickly upon seeing her. Between the tears in your eyes and the lump in your throat, you are too overwhelmed and inhibited from speaking

As you hugged, there was an unusual distance between you. Padmé is already pregnant; you felt her the large curve of her stomach against you

However strange your arrival is, not to mention your appearance and increased weariness, Padmé sits you down on her couch, comfortingly close, and asks what’s wrong

It’s so difficult not to pour your heart out to her; you have ached for years to update her on your life and the hardships you’ve faced. Every horror and injustice flashes before your eyes, but there is a carefully set plan it must be followed if everything is to be saved

Instead, you tell her you know. You say you know about her and Anakin and the baby, and you know in your heart that it will lead to disaster

She is stunned, then relieved. Padmé can’t deny it; her pregnancy is getting harder and harder to hide each day and her marriage is nearly obvious to anyone who has seen her and Anakin in the same room together

But finally, someone understands, and you offer an ultimatum: if she doesn’t tell Obi-wan, you will

Her hesitation is palpable, Although eased by your sympathy and understanding of the situation, as well as the consolation of having someone outside of her handmaidens to confide in, Padmé cannot betray the secret of her marriage without Anakin’s consent

But you also inform her that you know Anakin has been struggling with thoughts of the Dark Side, especially under Palpatine’s influence

You cannot quite reveal how you know all this, but your proximity to your friends is answer enough. Much of what you say has already been suspected by Padmé, yet her fear of the truth and the tumult it would bring prevented her from doing anything

The trust in you and your friendship seals the deal. She resolves to let Obi-wan in and begin an investigation into Palpatine, and with the seeds of securing victory successfully planted, you return to the Temple to caution the Jedi about Palpatine’s deeds and true identity

Getting an audience with high-ranking Jedi is exceedingly challenging. Most of the Jedi that you know are deployed throughout the galaxy

Yet luck brings you to Plo Koon on his leave, and he senses both your confusion and distress as a clear outsider, not only to the Temple, but to this time itself

There is little choice but to confess what you know about Palpatine, despite the suspicious amount of knowledge you have

However, the continued misgivings about the Chancellor added to your accusations are enough for Plo to call an emergency council meeting

When you explain your story, the Jedi do not wait to poke holes in your story, but Yoda stays curiously quiet for the majority of the meeting

Between Obi-wan vouching for you and the certainty of your claims, the Council resolves to investigate Palpatine despite any of their reservations

They say there isn’t enough evidence for an arrest, but a start is a start

A week trickles by, and you remain at Padmé’s side to help gather evidence into Palpatine’s corruption, becoming ever more nervous as the day the Empire will rise creeps closer

But at last, Anakin is called back to Coruscant, and instead of rescuing the Chancellor, he assists in his arrest

The Jedi’s investigation into his misdeeds, supplemented with Padmé’s own findings, amounts to a pile of corruption with the Trade Federation and endlessly shady dealings with the Separatists

Relieved from Obi-wan’s assurances that they will stand together and that he will vouch for Anakin and Padmé for whatever they will face when the baby is born, Anakin finds the strength to turn against his longtime mentor Palpatine

It still comes down to a duel, and Anakin still ends it, but this time, he kills the Sith and stomps out the evil in the galaxy

Further inquisition into Palpatine’s doings reveal his puppeteer-like control over the war, and the stringing along of both sides. Acting quickly, the Jedi manage to prevent Order 66 from happening and apprehend many of Palpatine’s allies in and outside of the Senate

Dooku is arrested and tried and Grievous is killed

Padmé gives birth to two healthy babies, and Anakin decides not to live in secrecy

The Jedi are upset and cautious about the whole affair, yet the Chosen One has just eliminated the last of the Sith. Additionally, Palpatine’s reign has shaken the foundations of the Jedi organization to its core, and the Council agrees that it might finally be time to rethink many of their policies

Anakin’s struggle with the dark has not been lost on them, and Yoda in particular senses that their future could have been much worse

Perhaps you encourage this line of thought as much as you can. After all, the blindness of the peacekeepers and leaders allowed Palpatine to take control in the first place

Yet at last, there is peace. Calm begins to settle over the galaxy; timelines converge and you exist only in the new, hopeful reality

There is still much to be fixed, many wrongs to be righted. But you have ensured that one day, all will be well and as it should be

How Far the Stars Fall, How Bright They Burn

Fic idea thought up by the ever awesome @norcumii for a title I suggested and I loved the idea so much that I thought i’d try a little something, this is part 1 - i make no promises as to if there will be more.

A canon AU, where Order 66 doesn’t go down as planned. It’s not reinforced by the chips, so you get a lot of confused clones refusing to follow what is clearly an unlawful command. The army splinters, the surviving Jedi leading their loyal troops into hiding, and the war spirals out into a mess of various factions without clear lines. No idea where it goes from there, but I like happy endings, so there’s obviously gonna be Palpatine death and the Republic recovering somehow, with clones being treated as actual people. Maybe as an extended branch of the Order, which would be RADICALLY retooled

Execute Order 66 – the order is given by a man robed like a Sith. The Supreme Commander of the GAR, the Emperor-who-would-soon-be repeats his words and then shuts off the holo-call. Soon, soon all would be playing into his hands.

The galaxy would fall into chaos.

And it does, but not quite as expected.

For loyalty cannot be bought nor burned away and the Force which dwells in all things, which touches all souls, gives these men who deserved so much more than a dying Republic was willing to give them, so much more than being fodder for a war without purpose, what little it can. It gives them a choice. That choice means that Cody comms his General, uses that familiar smooth Coruscanti accent to focus away from traitor-to-the-Republic and on Jedi-General-vod. Elsewhere the Wolfpack completely ignore the order and take Plo Koon with them when they abandon the battle to find out what’s going on. Alas it does not go that smoothly elsewhere – Bly doesn’t shoot down Aalya but most of their men turn on them as they run, Yoda makes it to a spaceship to get to the safety of hyperspace but Luminara does not; and the casualty rate of the clones there is high indeed. The Grand Army of the Republic splinters into a thousand factions. Some run, some fight, some turn and fight each other. And the 501st marches on the temple in the company of a young Sith who has forgotten how much he’s loved. There are Padawans sheltering younglings and Elders fighting to buy time; the first brother falls and that is when it becomes a slaughter. (Some clones though – these kids are younger than they are; and they call out that a corridor is clear even though they can see the feet of a half-dozen children barely hidden. There are many hidden ways out of the temple. Once the Sith whose blade is slowly changing from blue to weeping-red used them but so focussed is his intent on the Council room he does not feel the burning-bright sparks slipping away.) Chaos reigns as the lights of the Jedi begin to flicker-fade. But hope endures like kyber. On a planet just in the bounds of Wild Space, clones and Jedi reunite. 212th gold mingles with 104th grey as Plo offers Obi-Wan a gentle embrace of comfort and support. The reports that they have gathered seem hopeless; more than half of the Jedi have been reported as lost. Mace rocks up with a ship full of younglings that he’d found in the bowels of Coruscant. The head of the Order is weary and badly injured but that he lives is cause for a quiet celebration with the little that they have. They hear reports of other groups like them – and they hang on to hope.

And they begin to plan.

i take from you everything you will allow Wolffe and Plo and three long years in the Clone Wars, navigating a relationship that no one - including them - understands. A series of moments that meant something, after it all. *Ch 2/4/6/14/15/18 cigarettes and cilantro Wolffe knows that smoking is bad for his health. He just doesn’t see a reason to care. It’s not like he’s going to be alive long enough for it to matter. enganche Wolffe is stuck at a reception for a new peace treaty, and he is a terrible dancer. What a stupid activity. Maybe the waltz isn’t for him, and he should try tango instead.

and counting* Good soldiers follow orders. Good commanders know how to interpret.(What happens after Order 66, and how Wolffe ends up marooned on Seelos.) count the cost* Order 66 goes live and Wolffe watches Plo Koon's ship burn in the Cato Nemoidian sky. He can't walk away without knowing for sure his beloved is dead. Maybe it would have been better if he was.

long i stood and looked down one In the universe next door, Plo Koon declines a seat on the Council. Some things change.

a moment of silence for those dying for attention Wolffe has not had to share his General with anyone since he was assigned, and he likes it that way. What's this? General Plo is hanging out with a shiny in the test pilot division? Abso-fucking-lutely not. Jai'galaar had better be ready for war, and not with the Separatists.

the mother’s curse* Thanks to the Force, Wolffe's General is 8 years old again. Now what? Wolffe's so-done-with-this meter is about to break.

prayers to broken stone* Order 66, from two perspectives: Plo, as he’s going to sleep; and Wolffe, as he’s waking up.

an offering of grace Plo likes sitting on the floor. One thing leads to another, and before they know it Wolffe's got his very own work of art in his bed.

what wise men fear* There are goings-on far above Wolffe's head that he doesn't have time to care about, since he's not going to be able to change any of it anyway. But Plo gets some news he doesn't like, and then a call from an Admiral shoves him right over the edge. Wolffe begins to understand why Jedi are the way they are.

back to haunt us* 10 years ago, Plo Koon is working in the DA's office when Iaco Stark breaks out of prison to murder him for sending him to prison in the first place. Detective Wolffe Fett is assigned to keep that from happening by following him everywhere. Neither of them are thrilled with this arrangement, but it only has to last until Stark is back where he belongs. 10 years later, Plo's a professor, Wolffe's still at the precinct, and Jango Fett is out of prison with a vendetta against his sons for putting him away. They just can't catch a break.

hippocrates: the better part of valor Plo has a lot of misgivings about how the GAR is run, especially when it comes to prioritizing medical care, and like a lot of Kel Dor, Plo will take a stand for his principles. "Right after a battle while injured" was probably not the best time to pick that fight with the battalion medic. How Plo Koon learns not to get in his medic's way, or why Kit Fisto is S-O-L when he asks for Plo's help escaping the Courageous' medbay.

two roads diverge* Two clones and a Jedi are caught behind enemy lines. Two of them are dying, and the third is the medic. Catch made a promise, and now he has to keep it.

Guess who’s crying because STAR WARS is full of feelings again? ALL OF US, THAT’S WHO.
