okay so these are all my notes and thoughts on the pilot and the first episode :3 enjoy.

okay so it looks like bobby comes from a religious and military home

his father is def the dominant head of the family. he has a strong presence and his wife seems to be more meek compared to him. very “good christian wife” core. thats not a dig at her, she seems sweet enough, but when general briggs slaps bobby for putting a cigarette in his mouth at dinner, she does nothing about it

laura helped norma with the “meals on wheels program” that laura helped organize. she really does seem like such a golden child

the log apparently saw something the night laura died

god, the way shelly’s face dropped when leo asked about his shirt gave me chills

some hc stuff i made up for copia cuz i gladly simp for him

security cameras in the abbey: i dont know because i feel like there would be and imperator just has all the footage and uses it against the papas especially nihil and a lot of the footage is just terzo and the ghouls doing stupid and reckless shit

copia spends time in the library doing translations and only really stops if i come in there and distract him or make him take a break and get dinner with me. sometimes ill sit in his lap and fall asleep as he works just cuz i can't relax without him and all of the stuff i need to do around the ministry is exhausting

okay but im thinking that copia has an absurd amount of love letters written to me and some of them are a little spicy but mostly all the things he couldn't stutter out when he's with me because he's afraid of rejection but he doesn't know that i am so madly in love with him that i steal and keep his little doodles that he does when he's working and i keep them in a little box under our bed on his side and the thought of his stuff with us makes me worry less and makes me feel less anxious about everything and makes me not think about my past

copia would literally be such a good dad too. he's the type of guy that will go above and beyond expectations if i was carrying his baby. he would be by my side as much as he could and he'd skip out on important meetings and just tell the others to fuck off just to take care of me and make sure im okay and when the baby is born he would be this close 🤏to just telling everyone he was gonna quit being papa just to take care of us.

his music taste is all over the place. while he does listen to his own music and the other papas stuff, he primarily listens to bands like fall out boy, theory of a deadman, falling in reverse, nickelback, linkin park that kind of thing but he also surprises you when he puts his favorite playlist on and it's all abba, lady gaga, rihanna, miley cyrus, and other miscellaneous and ironic music. he also listens to the smallest bit of country music because he saw a video with the song next thing you know on tiktok and he thought of you and he started exploring the love songs of the genre.

we can't forget about my idea of copia in the role of magic mike and to branch off of this copia is the type of guy that would see terzo pole dancing and ask if we could get a pole installed in our room

This is basically a huge infodump on my thoughts about the first episode, because I doubt y’all want to sift through my trauma-ridden ramblings. I’ll make another post for the rest. This is just everything not related to the IW stuff/my reaction to that. It’s general thoughts, theories, musings.

1. When Loki gets first taken into the TVA. Is that Peggy Carter in the background? Others have suggested it might be. What would that mean??? Will we see the TVA fix the mess the Russos made with Steve/Peggy (not likely) or is it just a lookalike? Who knows..

2. A skrull at the main intake desk! Idk not super relevant just interesting!

3. I’m kind of glad they changed the... uncomfortable scene... with the robot burning his clothes off. He gets more time to react to seeing the machine itself, and he seems more shocked (”Now.. H-hang on just a minute.”) than angry (”Now hang on just a minute!”) i still feel.. horrible for him, i’m glad nobody Saw him and that the machine didn’t grab the clothes off, but still. Ehhh.. uncomfortable.

He is beautiful though, don’t get me wrong - I’d just prefer a shirtless Loki scene where he wants to be shirtless? let him do what he wants with his body?? he’s probably felt so out of control of his body, from being jotun to falling through space that any invasion of privacy like that hits extra deep...

That being said, I recognize the utility of the scene for the narrative - his lack of control, his literally being stripped of what he was before.

4. WHO IS THE MAN WITH THE CAT. What is his name. I love that he has a mug with his cat on it. But I want to know more. Who is he?

4.1 WHY DIDNT YOU LET LOKI PET THE CAT Please,,, I am begging you,,, let loki pet the cat and have something react kindly to him and purr all happily at his scratching behind their ears plea s e

5. The info sheet. Now this is just a little nitpicky tidbit, but in a previous promo they listed Loki’s height as 6′4 ft and weight as 525 lbs. This is taken directly from the comics if I’m not mistaken. However, in the actual show he’s listed as 6′2 (Tom’s height and Loki’s presumed height) but I don’t remember if his weight is the same. Is Loki 6′2? 6′4? please let me know i want to know how smol i am in comparison

6. His little aggressive shaking of the ticket at the guard makes me giggle each time.

7. The fact the turnstile hits so low on him reminds me,, I am short compared to him. Those things hit my stomach/waist. That one hit his legs. I am once again asking Loki to pick me up.

8. The cartoon with Miss Minutes introducing the TVA is wonderful, I love the art style especially. But it raises questions about Variants... I guess Variants can just, pop out of nowhere? Any action could be the wrong one? And then once you commit the wrong action you either get returned or pruned? Yikes??? And THIS ties into another thing later!

9. The trial scene. I have a hunch - a feeling, a suspicion. That one of three things may be true.

A. The Time-Keepers never actually existed. They’re fabricated, and now whoever runs the TVA is actually using the excuse of “The Time-Keepers decree it so!!!” to carry out whatever They think is right. The fact we haven’t seen the Time-Keepers makes me.. suspicious...

B. The Time-Keepers existed, but they have since passed on, however that may have happened. Now someone is doing the same as above, using the excuse of the Time-Keepers apparent dictations to run things.

C. The Time-Keepers do exist, and do run the timeline/TVA, but maybe they’re not infallible? Maybe the TVA info video is lying or incomplete in some way? Idk I just feel like, something about the TVA and how they run things has to be wrong. It has to? Something is off. Again, this will tie into another thought later...

I have no idea if any of these are actually true! But Loki’s questions of “Who’s in charge here? What do they do? What do you do?” punctuated by laughter leads me to believe he’s suspecting something too, or perhaps just trying to figure this mess out.

10. Seiðr/Magic. We see in this scene, Loki’s magic (”powers”) don’t work in the TVA. (and a quick side note, did he have to Flex like that? do you have to make me see Loki’s bare arms Flex like that? be still my heart. anyway please get that collar off of him and let him rest for five minutes) This makes me wonder.. Why isn’t Loki in his Jotun form? His pale skin and blue eyes are decided by magic, are they not? I suppose this is 2012, so perhaps Odin’s magic is keeping Loki looking like that. But if magic doesn’t work in the TVA, why would his spell reach so far? Clearly Loki’s magic isn’t what’s doing it. How is Loki not appearing as a Jotun? Is his Jotun form repressed - is pale skin his default now, rather than something hidden by magic? I need answers!

11. he sounds so scared about being “reset” please dont hurt him,,

12. cALLING LOKI A PUSSYCAT? (lokitty confirmed) I think Mobius was goading him (Mobius strikes me.. As extremely clever. He’s trying to push Loki’s buttons to see who he’s dealing with. At least, I hope so. Because if he really meant that “You were born to cause pain and suffering and death... All so that others can achieve the best versions of themselves.” and that line about killing Frigga??? No no no he is not guilty. He had no way of knowing what would happen. It wasn’t right to send Algrim up to Asgard (i think algrim wouldve found the way up anyway) but there was no intent to hurt Frigga. I really hope you’re trying to goad him, Mobius, because if you believe that I trust you much less. anyway i digress) but wow is he pushing Loki’s buttons a lot. I can’t... Blame him entirely, I understand he’s trying to make sure Loki’s on his side, maybe I’m just too soft for Loki idk. But some of that was very cruel to say. /:

12.1 AND ANOTHER THING ABOUT MOBIUS. That scene with the girl in the church?? Did that little girl kill the men? Is that young Sylvie? Or is she using an illusion to make herself look young and innocent? What’s going on!!!!

13. LOKI SNATCHING THE LITTLE TIME-TWISTER DEVICE AND STOWING IT IN HIS POCKET.... POCKET....... sorry sometimes i get so caught up about loki that i just say random words in between little noises and squeals,,, i am a silly thing

14. CASEY. CASEY??? That whole exchange is funny. Poor Loki, just trying to intimidate this guy so he can escape but - Casey doesn’t know what a fish is. to be fair.... thor doesn’t seem to know what a raccoon is... right?

15. That bit with the infinity stones is kind of funny until you realize

A. Natasha died for a paperweight

B. Tony died from paperweights

C. Loki was tortured for paperweights

D. Oh, and Gamora died for a paperweight too. And Vision. Need I go on?

Then it becomes less of exclusively “haha funny” and now it’s a mix of funny and pain and gosh, is that a good way to sum up being a Marvel/Loki fan sometimes...

16. Loki gazing at the timeline all “Is this the most powerful thing in the universe?” or something, i’m sorry i don’t remember exactly... made me think of a meme and i shall make it presently.

17. I love that Loki got to see examples of how his family loves him but the fact he’s all “I can’t go back.” really just breaks me. It’s like he can finally see they love him after all of this mess, and now he doesn’t have the chance. Please, please let him be happy. Give him some relief. This is the Loki that just came off finding out about being Jotun, falling from the Bifrost, encountering Thanos, attacking Earth, facing defeat, and now he’s being thrashed around in this wild place and has just found out he inadvertently caused Frigga’s death (he did not kill her: his actions, by mistake, lead to her murder, let me be very clear) AND Odin will die AND all the rest... And he wants to be with them.

18. Loki’s reaction to Thor suggesting the hug makes me soft. Please I want to hug this little mischief man so so so bad-

19. Skipping over the iw parts! That’s for another post because this one will be grossly long anyway.

20. “I don’t enjoy hurting people.” and “It's part of the illusion. It's the cruel, elaborate trick conjured by the weak to inspire fear. A desperate play for control.” was all so, so validating. I’ve been trying to argue on Loki’s behalf for almost a solid decade. Seeing the show recognize that Loki’s not all just violence and hurting for “fun”, that he’s not unhinged and bloodthirsty.. Is so nice. It’s just so, so comforting. and it gives me hope for future episodes that they won’t go the route of “oh haha loki bullied and mistreated and stabbed thor for years!!! :)” loki cries during basically every fight with Thor and you want me to believe he stabs Thor for fun? absolutely not.

21. Theory.. Just another hunch.. So we know a fugitive variant, aka Loki, is running amok. Refer back to 8 and 9.C. What if the Time-Keepers never actually fixed the timeline into a single timeline? What if there are other timelines, and these different Loki variants have hopped over to the current one? Or, maybe the Time-Keepers did fix the timeline into a single one, and these Lokis are remnants from that huge time-war at the beginning? Time runs differently in relative spaces, they may have Just Left that war from their perspective!

I say Lokis and not Loki because we’re pretty sure there’s Female/Lady Loki, Old Man/King Loki, and possibly Young/Kid Loki. That’s at least three. From the peeks of Asgard and NYC we’ve seen from the trailers, I think we’re also getting an Asgardian King!Loki and Midgardian King/Vote!Loki. (unless our dearest variant is hopping into timelines and situating into them, but I doubt Mobius would let that happen..?) That’s five.

To further support this, keep in mind, I believe recently six (i think 6 regular and 6 rare...) different funko pops were announced for the series? I’m not sure if they’re in addition to the Loki and Mobius already released. If they are, there’s enough room for each Loki and maybe a TVA agent. One of the pops is supposed to have a buddy/companion I think? Maybe they’re making the cat guy into one, or maybe there’s something else (Throg, anyone?).

22. That is totally Lady Loki/Sylvie at the end by the way. Has to be. But why does she want the reset devices? Why did she snatch that TVA Hunter? Again, WHAT’S GOING ON

Y'all I'm having Mary Goore feels right now and this idea hit me in the brain so fucking hard I had to get it written immediately.

Wednesday nights were always busy. People looking for a mid-week buzz to help them make it to Friday were common, no matter what bar you worked at.

This particular bar you worked at was your favorite though. It had punk rock feel that attracted all sorts of alternative characters. Goths, punks, metalheads, and grungy rebels made up the bulk of the regular patrons. Different flavors of local rock bands frequented the bar to play their songs, hoping to grow their fan base and maybe snag a groupie for the night. It was through one such band that you met Mary Goore.

Mary was the lead singer to a band that had played at the bar one weekend. Death metal wasn’t particularly your favorite genre of metal but you could appreciate the talent and dedication that Mary and his band put into it. He even covered himself with fake blood. Repugnant became a local favorite, playing at the bar at least every other week.

After the second time playing their set, Mary went up to you tending the bar and asked for something “cold as a witches’ tit and just as stiff.” Amused at his wording, you poured him a shot of chilled vodka that had the highest alcohol content out of all the liquors in the entire bar.

“Oh that’s the good shit. I’m gonna need another.”

You smiled at him, noting that when patrons drink that particular brand of vodka, they usually stumble after the first shot. Mary Goore wasn’t worried. He wanted to get blackout drunk. Apparently he had a spat with his drummer and was trying to drink away his frustrations.

You offered to listen to Mary’s rant and rant he did. After he let it all out you offered him a sympathetic look and some advice that you thought was generic, but it clearly had an effect on him.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet, asking how much for the three shots of vodka.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s on the house tonight, Goore.”

Mary smiled at you, with genuine thanks in his eyes.

“You know you’re the nicest bar tender I’ve ever met. Thanks.”

You and Mary became good friends after that, exchanging numbers after his third time playing at the bar. Sometimes you would meet up to hang out and talk shit when he didn’t have rehearsal and you didn’t have to work.

After he had another argument with his drummer (who was also his roommate) you offered to let him crash at your apartment until things worked out or had blown over.

This became a usual occurrence.

It turned out he fought with his bandmates a lot, usually over stupid shit like lyrics or the composition of a song. They were a death metal band and had a flair for dramatics after all. So after the fifth time of him crashing at your place, you offered him a spare key.

After that, Mary would spend the night even if he wasn’t clashing with his bandmates. “It’s clean and smells nice and you have better snacks.” He told you. You didn’t mind, he was a good friend, cleaned up all of his messes, and sometimes brought weed.

It was during one busy Wednesday that Mary texted you and said he would be at your apartment.

Mary: i got sum of the good kush (not the dollar store kind) and i dont wanna share with the others. can i smoke at your place? i’ll share sum with u tho cause ur my favorite

Smoking with Mary was always fun. You replied that it was cool and that you might be late because it was a busy night, and that it was okay if he smoked a little bit before you got there. You knew how impatient Mary could be.

Mary: babe ur the best!!!!! :D

You always blushed when he called you “babe.” You chalked it up to him just being a flirt, but it didn’t stop the little crush you had on him that was forming.

It was around 2 a.m. when your boss cleared you to go home. You grabbed your jacket and purse and took the late night bus back to your apartment, where you knew Mary was probably stoned out of his mind. You just hoped he left you enough to give you a few good hits.

It was during busy nights that you were glad you lived on the first floor. You couldn’t drag your feet up any stairs if your life depended on it.

When you put your key in the lock you heard what sounded like crying. You turned the doorknob and stepped inside to find Mary a total mess.

He was laying on the couch with his hands covering his face and sobbing uncontrollably. Empty bags of various flavors of potato chips and half eaten packs of candy littered around him.

You quietly set your purse down and hung up your jacket. You walked over to Mary and began to pet his hair.

“Mary…what’s the matter?”

Mary could only sob.

“Was it your band? Did you guys have another fight?”

“N-no…Nothing to d-do w-with my b-band…” He managed to say between hiccups.

“Well what’s wrong then?”

Mary pointed to the TV. The credits to Looney Tunes were playing.

“What were you watching that made you so upset? It couldn’t have been Looney Tunes…”

“Y-you don’t unders-stand! H-he thought h-his f-friend got b-baked into a c-cookie!” Mary cried.

“Huh?”

“T-the dog…h-he got a little cat f-friend and he t-thought h-his f-friend g-got baked into…into a c-cookie…”

“And this was a Looney Tunes episode?”

“Y-yes!” Mary whined.

“Well did it have a happy ending at least?”

“Y-yeah, his f-friend didn’t g-get turned into a c-cookie…b-but it was s-still so sad!!”

This weed must be potent as fuck to bring Mary Goore to tears over a Looney Tunes episode. Now you wanted to watch it, not remembering any such episode on Saturday mornings growing up.

“Would it be okay if I watched it with you? Will you get sad again?”

“I-I think I’ll b-be okay with y-you watching it w-with m-me…”

Sitting down and picking up some uneaten candy, you pressed the replay button.

You vaguely started to remember the episode as you watched it. As expected, Mary began to whimper again as the little kitten fell into the cookie batter. The kitten crawled out of the bowl before the dog had a chance to see, and dramatic music played as the dog saw the woman roll out and cut little shapes into the cookie dough.

You couldn’t help but smile at the ridiculousness of the situation you were in.

Mary wailed with the dog after being offered a cookie shaped like a cat, falling back into the couch as he let the sobs wrack through him again.

You began to pet him again. “But look, Mary! The kitten is okay! See? The lady is even letting the dog keep it! They’re all happy!”

Mary seemed to calm down a little at your reassurance and sat back up, wiping his eyes with the back of his hands. You offered him a tissue, and he started to blow his nose.

You just smiled at him, and pulled him into a hug.

“I think you’ve smoked enough for tonight. Let’s save the rest for later when we can smoke together.”

“Okay…”

It only took a few minutes for him to fall asleep in your arms, and you cherished the feeling of him breathing into your chest.

dont wanna make this ask long bc i am tired and dont have the energy to be a well spoken (?) person rn but it probably will be long anyways, so sorry!! but like. as somebody who has hyperfixated on both idubbbz and schlatt (along with a plethora of other problematic content creators, i really know how to fuckn pick em!!) they absolutely foster a dogshit community, at least outside of platforms like tumblr, where like. you cant really avoid fandom culture like you can on twitter or ig, if that makes sense. on here, if you wanna post about your favorite youtuber, whether you tag it or not, other fans will likely see and if you say some bad shit, you will likely get called on it, whereas on ig basically only your followers will see it even if you use a hashtag and on twitter its like if you arent in a subtwt/fandom then you basically dont interact with any subtwt at all unless its an accident, ya know?

so like. i think what im trying to say here is that while ive met a lot of fans of both these creators, especially schlatt, who are great people as far as i can tell, i am also specifically on the fandom side of things and as soon as i step out of that space i realize that a lot of people who watch them are not actually minorities like me and my mutuals who can catch on to satire or who watch their more behind the scenes stuff where you can see them act like a decent person or even call out people for the things they usually joke about which just. fucking sucks. it sucks that, as much as i do believe schlatt is actually a good person (and sort of idubbbz, although i dont really watch him much anymore for a plethora of reasons, mostly related to the fact that i cant stand his jokes anymore even if he is playing a character as he's said before), he also keeps doing terrible fucking things and im really glad his actual friends have been calling him on it recently, especially after that jackbox video (which is a whole other thing on its own bc it literally seemed like nobody wanted to be there basically the entire video?? like as somebody who watched all the jackbox videos before that one, it was really fucking off in that call and the jokes were next level fucking upsetting), but sometimes it's just kinda like. exhausting. bc his community is already fucking bad now, you cant undo accidentally fostering a community of fucking racist homophobes who dont get that you're playing a character, unless you kinda drop off and build a whole new community from that, which would be stupid to do at this point in his career. not really sure where i was going with this tbh, but i thought i would chime in on this discussion as a viewer of mainly schlatt, but also a past idubbbz viewer who is basically a seasoned fucking vet at dealing with shitty fanbases because of him and many other dumb youtube white boys

Yeah, I get what you mean (I think ahdsufsd). Fandom as a concept is pretty... I don't even know how to describe it, but it's the kind of thing that I feel like white male Redditors would think of as pussy shit, y'know? Like the Ricegum gang isn't a fucking "fandom" they're a... well, a fandom, but they're not gonna admit to that. So when you step outside of a community like Tumblr (the queerest place on the internet TM) you come into contact with the faces of the fandom you're dealing with and oftentimes they're a lot less like you than you might've thought from the similar interest. It's like going to a Weezer concert and realizing you're surrounded by incels (this is a JOKE).

Satire's a rough topic because some people don't think it should exist at all. Like any words that can be directly interpreted as bigoted or problematic should not be uttered. I disagree with that, I think it's one of the most interesting forms of both social commentary and comedy, but I do see the problem. There are people who watched Filthy Frank (to take an example from that other anon) and didn't know or care what the point of his actions were (I don't know what they were tbh - I never watched him, but it sounds like he's a pretty decent dude) and instead read his jokes as-is. There are thousands upon thousands of people who aren't gonna get satire and that's a problem because if they're already bigoted they're gonna see people like Schlatt and iDubbz and whoever else as truly validating.

(Largely unrelated but yo, is iDubbz still going? Are the views alright? Is the adsense popping? Has he just kept going with Content Cops? I haven't heard about him since the girlfriend thing dropped.)

I think this is what's pertinent when it comes to discussing Schlatt. After the Jackbox video (for me at least, he might've been there before) he put himself at a crossroads. If he'd apologized, said "sorry, I took it too far, that was a mistake" - yeah, plenty of people wouldn't have forgiven him and plenty of bigoted fans of his would've said that the apology was just to placate the snowflakes on Twitter, but to the sort of in-between people it would've shown that he's able to recognize and reconcile his mistakes. He could've transitioned into content that's A) actually good (when I say that the video was bad I don't just mean in terms of racism, I mean it straight up was not entertaining) and B) less "edgy" for the sake of. I wouldn't expect him to go uwu squeaky clean, but he's already reeled in the bad people, so if he really wanted to foster a good, progressive audience, he has to do something significant to show that.

But he didn't.

Maybe for the sake of his career, maybe because he likes those bigoted fans, maybe because he just doesn't get it - I don't know. I don't think we'll ever know. I spoke earlier about doing what is right over what is easy and in the case of Schlatt it just feels like he really did take the easy way out. Whoever he is in his personal life doesn't change how he's perceived online and the kinds of people that are idolizing him for it.

(And yeah I saw the video on Anisa when I Googled her to check if they were still dating, but then I saw who it was made by and I was like oh well whatever avhfdfkj)

Driving

John: He’s a fairly good driver when he doesn’t want to fly, he just hits the brakes and the gas too hard sometimes. He also has no fear of tight turns. He will go 40 around a hairpin bend. “what do you mean, it’s not normal to have your body jolt from side to side while you’re driving?” He’s never been in an accident.

Rose: Legit has no fear of death. Also, she’s a New Yorker, so that automatically means she’s mediocre at best. Merges in as tight a gap as she can possibly manage. “I would have had plenty of space if you had only paid attention!” Listens to podcasts and audiobooks during long trips. Forgets to turn them off when the cops pull her over. Pays her tickets.

Dave: Decent. Plays the radio, but not very loudly. Has been known to switch on cruise control and put his feet up on the dashboard. Fell asleep while driving once. He woke up and saw that his car had been totaled and that there was lots of shrapnel in him, so he went back in time to fetch his past self out of the car before succumbing to his wounds. He is haunted by the experience to this day. Has never gotten a ticket.

Jade: Has never been in a car before. Never wants to get in a car. Dave makes fun of her, like, “all dogs love car rides and im sure youd love sticking your head out the window” but that only makes Jade more determined to avoid car rides like the plague. She teleports everywhere. She teleported to a hospital once and legit gave the nurse a heart attack.

Jane: Drives very well. Obeys all the rules of the road. Stays five over the speed limit. She keeps her car clean as a whistle: she makes everyone knock off their shoes before getting in her car, and God forbid if you eat anything. She probably has one of those “St. Christopher Protect Us” visor clips despite not being Catholic. (She’s Lutheran.)

Roxy: Is Not Safe. Has been in at least three accidents. Blasts rock music. One time [this is based on a true story], she was pulling into the driveway with her radio blasting away, and Dave, Jake, and Karkat were outside, and they started waving at her because there was something scraping the ground on the underside of her car. Her response? Turn the music up EVEN LOUDER, drowning out the scraping, and wave back.

Dirk: Excellent driver. Forgets to use turn signals. Occasionally drifts around corners, but only when nobody’s around. Occasionally puts Lil Cal in the passenger seat so he can use the carpool lane. For whatever reason, doesn’t ever let anyone ride with him.

Jake: Is a surprisingly good driver. Sometimes, he’ll get carried away with talking to his passengers and will have to be reminded to keep his eyes on the road. He uses one foot for the gas and the other for the brake, so occasionally, there’ll be this terrible grinding noise when he tries to brake. Put diesel in his car once. [Also based on a true story.] Nobody will let him live it down.

Aradia: Drives decently well, but does NOT put her hands on the wheel. She turns it with her telekinesis. She says “it helps me get a better feel f0r the car”. She has received numerous tickets. She does not care. The government can’t catch her if they can’t find her.

Tavros: Can’t legally drive because of his paralysis. He’s afraid of cars, partly due to his aforementioned paralysis. “dON’T YOU KNOW, hOW MANY PEOPLE, gET INJURED IN CAR ACCIDENTS,” Jade is more than happy to teleport him wherever he wants to go.

Sollux: Doesn’t have a license. Carpools with Aradia all the time. Knows how to drive in theory (because Video Games), but doesn’t. In video games, he’s fast and very prone to drifting, but somehow never crashes ever, except in the most extreme of situations.

Karkat: Doesn’t own a car. Very good driver. Complains constantly about all the other drivers. I mean, he’s good, so he’s justified? But still? Sometimes, he slows down in front of particularly pernicious vehicles just because he can. Slows down but does not actually stop at stop signs. Sings along with the radio.

Nepeta: Chaos driver. Makes U-turns whenever and wherever she wants. Goes out of her way to run down squirrels. (But not deer, because Equius would throw a fit.) Gets serious road rage. Honk at her? The next ten seconds of your life will be hell. Her car’s a legit mess.

Kanaya: The go-to carpool lady, if you're not in a rush. Very safe driver. Always drives the posted speed limit. Doesn’t move from the right lane, ever. Has threatened to turn Aradia in to the government. “Dont Make Me Turn This Car Around” Plays show tunes and sings along. Karkat and Roxy will join in.

Terezi: Legally blind and cannot drive. Is still a backseat driver. Every once in a while, she’ll yell “R4C3 R4C3 R4C3″ or something. Five minutes later, she’ll accost the driver for not using turn signals. Nepeta let her try driving one whole time, in an empty Target parking lot at 3 in the morning. It... went surprisingly well. They almost crashed into a line of shopping carts, but it still went well.

Vriska: Her license was suspended a year ago. Don’t ask why. She’s currently plotting to get it back.

Equius: Excellent driver. Stays 5 over the speed limit. Fixes everyone’s cars, so long as the customer does him a favour in return. His car is immaculate, somehow, despite letting the likes of Nepeta into it.

Gamzee: The epitome of not caring. Drifts over lanes. Coasts through red lights. Has miraculously never been in an accident. Has been pulled over multiple times but has never been arrested. The police are afraid of him for some reason. Tries to charge people to carpool with him, but nobody ever wants to.

Eridan: Pretty good. He also has a boating license. Never uses windshield wipers, for some reason. Is actually fond of hydroplaning? NEVER ride with him when there’s precipitation.

Feferi: CHAOS DRIVER ROAD RAGE GET OUT OF HER FREAKING WAY

Calliope: Very good. A little too tentative sometimes. Never takes a turn faster than like 5 mph. Not overly fond of driving. Doesn’t have her own car.

Caliborn: Reads your bumper stickers to decide whether or not to cut you off. Has his brights on in the middle of the day. Goes 30 mph in parking lots. So basically, not horrible, but also very jerkish.

as soon as i saw that a hunter x hunter musical from the year 2002 starring the OG 99 VAs existed, i knew i has to see this...so i set out and watched the nightmare of zoldyck (i would later find out that theres ANOTHER musical, which i plan to watch too)

ah so the director of this musical also directed the sailor moon musicals, which i didnt know existed but of course that exists...thats funny considering the hxh mangaka is married to the sailor moon mangaka

anyways that was fun honestly!!!! i fuckgin love musicals, and musical adaptations of non-musical source materials can be like, SO different tonally, but this honestly felt like a fun filler

it was really interesting seeing something based on the canon from this early on - as i said above, some of the characterizations (like the zoldycks) seems a bit different than we’re used to, but others were spot on - like hisoka only showing up intermittently to sow chaos and do nothing else vhjkadhbfhkjdsfnj im assuming the yorknew arc hadnt happened at this point, but hisokas actions in this musical were hilariously similar to how he acted in the yorknew arc, so, props.

plus it was cool to see the ‘what if’ factor w/hisoka and illumi also being there, espec illumi interacting w/killua bc its so wildly different from how killua reacts to any of his other family members - hes clearly scared of illumi, in a way he isnt w/anyone else, and that was done well here w/the scene where illumi threatens killua’s friends to get killua to listen to him

also the angst was honestly great, and there was some REALLY sweet wholesome parts that i loved. and the music wasnt half bad either!!

i think the VAs did a great job playing the characters - hisokas VA was especially great (and i really loved kurapika too). gons hair was not very similar to how it looks in the show so it was a little more obvious that he was being played by a grown woman, but still a great performance.

anyways fun times, i love musicals and this was a fun ole 2000s filler shounen musical adaptation

ty for the ask!! i hope you dont mind if i go too in-depth because i was legit thinking about this earlier today...

tldr: i played tw3 and liked it, then read the books

i got into the witcher because one of my favorite gaming youtubers was doing a playthrough of tw3 on youtube in around i think september 2017. i liked this specific gaming youtuber for being shit at games and not caring about it... but tw3 was a different game. it felt like the decisions mattered, that there was an actual story here, that when this youtuber made shitty decisions and didn’t really care about the characters involved, i got frustrated because this game seemed really good... so i picked up the game myself and played it though, it was magnificent. not to r/witcher “the witcher 3 is literally the best game created in this history of ever” but it was sincerely good... not only does it have a great story, characters, and graphics, but it is genuinely comfortable to play as a game, even if you’re not great at games (i like playing video games but i’m not good at them when it comes to combat, i literally just would prefer to hack and slash through). so, i played through tw3 and the fact that it made me cry multiple times i found to be really interesting... but it was still just a game to me, it wasn’t something i thought about when i have time to daydream headcanons. i had read i think the witcher (short story) halfway through playing, just to get a feel of what tw3 came from, but from that, i realized the books and the games were incredibly different entitities, and i decided to not read the books until i had finished the game, or at least until i had more free time on my hands (mind i was in high school and was a senior, and during this time was when i was submitting college applications... exceptionally stressful, and the reading/writing part of my brain was absolutely fried from essay writing and reviewing). i was particularly struck by geralt and ciri’s relationship and the isle of mists quests fucked me up pretty bad.

then around later 2017, i was really enjoying tw3, and had finished tw3′s base game and hearts of stone, and was now making my way into blood & wine. i was just playing it like normal, then came the part when geralt met regis. at first i wasn’t too interested (i mean, i was, but in the story of blood & wine, not in the books) until the little journal text pop-up appeared on my screen. you know, the one about quests you just received, or characters you just met. it was going through the motions of saying i finished this quest, picked up this new one, i was all like fine, fine, okay, alright, and then it just fucking puts regis’ long-ass name on the screen taking up a good amount of my FOV and i am immediately like, what? what the fuck? who the fuck? that’s the name? of the guy we just met? that guy??? he didn’t seem like someone with a name like that? who the fuck IS this guy.

so i head over to the wiki page for regis. i thumb through the basic information, i’m pretty interested, this quest stuff to find ciri sounds interesting. i decide to give the witcher books another try, because i have more free time now and am way more invested as everyone here as characters. also, i want to find out more about yennefer, because she was being badmouthed by everyone i saw online, and i wanted to read more about her and see if she was really so bad (spoilers: she’s not at all, the internet is just misogynistic).

i don’t think that i’m going to actually really care about these books, i just want more flavor and explanation about how in hell a witcher met a vampire and these two somehow became friends. so, i don’t care about reading them in order. i go online and find fan translations of every book, i open baptism of fire and i just start reading the bit about the fish soup. i’m suddenly just laughing my ass off, really interested in who these other characters are, milva and cahir, and how dandelion seems to actually be the best friend to geralt that he was said to be in tw3. i also notice immediately that geralt... oh my god, geralt’s such a cranky bitch. i’m SHOCKED at how annoying geralt is. i realize that this is probably what geralt’s been like, this whole time, and tw3 just gave me a sterilized version of him. i’m trying to decide if i like this change or not, at first i HATED it... but then realized it actually gave him a character, where in tw3 he feels a little more... empty, waiting for the player to project a personality onto him.

so, i just read all of the hansa bits of baptism of fire, skipping over anything i don’t understand. i am saddened when i can’t find any more, so i move onto tower of the swallow. and then lady of the lake. “oh, so that’s why geralt was surprised to see regis in blood & wine...” feeling at a loss after reading stygga, i start at the beginning and make my way through the books chronologically, like they should be read. i soon realize that this series really isn’t about killing monsters at all, and i’m thrilled. i thought the series was just going to be about geralt killing things in a swamp and reporting back to whoever hired him, like in tw3... and i was wrong. this series is about personal connections! relationships! ... and fatherhood. i can’t remember when i started disliking tw3. it must have been around the time that i finished the books (im using the word finished loosely... i still havent finished some scenes because theyre too violent to read and continue with my day in peace, and i also read tos/lotl by skipping around, so i never got the full experience of reading them as full novels).

i just distinctly remember returning to my tw3 new game+ save after rereading the fish soup scene, and thinking about how lonely the game felt... i just felt so dispairingly alone, this loneliness that i hadn’t felt while playing before, that i had to put the game down. i returned to the game again, but i had just reread edge of the world... and i felt so alone again.

so reading the books ruined tw3 for me, not out of malicious intent, but just because i think i realized geralt isn’t meant to be the lone wolf. the novels center around him and his family and friends, and i just genuinely missed that when replaying tw3. plus, i began to realize a bunch of things, like ciri’s scar is supposed to be bigger, geralt’s supposed to wear his hair in a headband, yennefer’s hair is actually curly, dandelion’s supposed to actually be in the game. there were so many inconsistencies with the characters i had imagined while reading the books that eventually i just stopped playing tw3 (i already played it once, so nbd) and got really into the books.

sometime later i saved up like $80 to buy the paperback versions of the books (UK versions including season of storms) because i knew i was in really deep lol and i wanted the official translations super badly, also we were doing an assignment in class that allowed us to do something with our favorite book, but we needed to have it in-person and not as an e-book, so it was the perfect excuse. much time spent on hansa headcanons later and... here we are today.

the witcher series picked me up at an eerily appropriate time. two things in it stood out to me: 1) geralt’s relationship with ciri 2) regis’s alcoholism.

i distinctly remember an event where i started crying in front of my parents because my dad was being so absent in my life or maybe it was because they were arguing, something like this... and i remember referencing tw3 isle of mists quest actually by saying “i shouldn’t have to learn it (good parenting) from a video game” ... lol. it wasn’t an epic burn from a 17 yo, but it was just a painful remark made in anger. i still think back to it because of how first watching geralt hug ciri made me feel and how i was actually really bitter because i was jealous of ciri for about a week after completing the quest. then i kind of pushed it out of my mind and didn’t think so much about it, until the night i mentioned it.

in late march of 2018, something very bad happened in my family. that’s probably the best way to describe it. the situation ended in my parents finally separating. my mom and i were pretty afraid and lost after that. after i had collected my thoughts and everything and went back to as “normal” as i could, about a month later, when the creative part of my brain finally began to function again and wasn’t inhibited due to fear, i clung to the witcher more than i did before... and this time, actually particularly to regis, because guess who has a whole redemption arc relating to not being alcoholic and being a genuinely good person who speaks gently and heals the vulnerable?
