why i’m moving

essentially, i need to reorganize and restructure the content i interact with and create on this platform.

i enjoy critiquing the witcher netflix, but it began to take over this blog and obscure the witcher books, which are what actually brings me joy and should be the main focus of my main blog.

with the upcoming season 2 of the witcher on netflix, i know that more addressing of twn will be necessary in the future. i am not going to lie to myself and dream that i could keep my mouth shut for eternity about how they’ve done the witcher wrong. i also know that others will want to discuss this topic going forward, and i don’t want to remain silent in that conversation.

other issues with this blog include that it has always been a sideblog living under my inactive main, which is unrelated to the witcher. this has made it difficult to interact (sending asks, replying to posts, blocking people i feel uncomfortable around and having them stay blocked, etc)

additionally, although i love this URL, it seems to have come off as more ship-centric and regis-centric than regis-within-the-broader-hansa dynamic that i intended. also, since i created this blog when i first joined the witcher fandom, it’s not that regis has become less of a favorite character, but that i became more familiar with the other characters of the hansa and want to represent them equally.

there also exists the usual challenges... i have made posts that i cared about but can’t find them because even though i’ve always tried to be diligent about the tagging system, things have slipped through the cracks... so on the new blog i would like to tag things like references/inspiration, specific non-ship character dynamics, memes, book excerpts/quotes... these are usually the things i want to find on my blog but end up being lost

my goal from here

my goal is to have hanzajesthanza be more “professional” in that anyone can interact with it, no matter if they like twn, or hate twn, or whatever. obviously if they have fucked up morals, i’m not going to let them interact, but i’ve learned that a lot of twn fans are interested in the books and may want more books content without twn hate.

burnfalka is where i can be a little more “unprofessional,” complain-y, rant-y... this is where anti-twn content can flourish without worrying that it will “take over” my blog, because it will be separate! i realize that sometimes my analysis and anti-twn rants can be one and the same, but i will try to keep it organized...

okay thats all im saying because i see a lot of characterizations for ciri that are just so incorrect like are we looking at the same kid here. this mf threatens to have geralts head cut off, gets grumpy and mopes when yennefer doesnt let her look pretty (even though its for her own safety), deliberately runs her horse through mud (even when shes told not to), kills a homophobe and laughs about it…gets pissy when the lodge talks over her,,,,like she is still a little girl doing little girl things idk wht 2 tell u ppl

actually im not done talking. it was crucial, i think, that ciri be represented as a child in the witcher netflix and they just completely flopped on it. 

like…the progression of ciri from a child to an almost adult, and how her trauma shaped her character, her viewpoint on the world and whatnot? the jarring differences geralt sees in her when they reunite, and the same for yennefer. 

ciris character isnt destroyed by what happened to her, but its an important progression. she goes from a bratty princess to a deeply traumatized, and deeply lonely teenage girl. she retains hope in her early years because shes surrounded by people she loves, and she loses that hope, then finds it again. she cannot have a natural arc without the hope she had as a child!!! 

she cant be ciri without first being cirilla fiona elen riannon. 

like whats the point in telling ciris story if you’re just going to cut out half of her personality. i get that twn wants to protray a realistic representation of how war affects people, but the witcher already did that while still maintaining ciris childhood - whereas twn wants to cut this lol! like come on.

also i think where ciri falls flat for me in the witcher netflix is that shes mostly lost like all aspects of being a child. ciri in the witcher novels is traumatized and deeply afraid, but shes also like, bratty and talkative and bright. 

like ciri yells at the dinner table, plays games with the other witchers at kaer morhen and talks back, just - talks a lot. shes still a little girl trying to have fun. and she doesn’t really retain any of that in the witcher netflix because shes so much older. half her personality is gone and has been reduced to her trauma and being mature, when what made the reality of her situation so SURREAL was that even despite everything that had happened to her, she still wanted to go sledding with triss and she still wanted to play games with coen. 

like she was still raised as a princess, albeit shes always been a little poorly mannered and disrespectful but a princess. like shes spoilt and bratty and prim, she gets mad when she doesnt get what she wants! it doesn’t seem at all like netflix wants to retain any aspect of her character.

more thoughts on the blog

essentially my thinking is that i need to make my blog into multiple blogs... a main witcher blog (art reblogs + analysis + answering asks), but also with a sideblog for art and a sideblog for twn/general fandom complaining........ 

bc i feel the twn complaining is smth i need to do (just out of my soul and anger sometimes) but i dont want this on my main because the conversation begins to take over actually important things. it’s been too many times already that i dont want to give twn more attention but something terrible about it needs to be discussed, and the spotlight of my blog cant handle both simultaneously. ALSO because i know some people dont like the hate and thats ok, i understand it can be exhausting and i dont want people to feel like i loathe them personally for whatever complicated relationship they might have with twn.

additionally i think my art is improving to the point where having a separate art blog might help it (in terms of motivation as well as exposure)... or maybe i should just get off tumblr entirely but it is a good creative outlet for me... and not just for digital art, but for cosplay and any creative endeavours (like fish soup prod., a couple of irl art things i am working on, idk)

in all of this, i need to make a new account in order to have my witcher blog be my main blog, which means i will need to re-follow/re-block/transfer drafts, set preferences, etc... which will be a headache, but MIGHT be worth it? especially if i can re-adjust my tagging system... i need tags for inspiration / culture, writing / art reference, and also specific relationships that ARE NOT romantic ships but family or friendships, idk how to name these things, maybe with cute phrases, my bff once had this tagging system where everyone had a fun cute tag for the character or relationship...

i don’t think ill delete this blog or account, but i’ll just move my activity to a different one and rename this one maybe “archive” or something like that. i actually use my blog as a way to reference things ive seen, bc i search my blog by the tags i use to find content i’ve reblogged (art, memes, etc)... so... i don’t want to burn the library of alexandria here, so to speak

one of my biggest issues with the twn fandom is theyre trying so hard to push this narrative of dandelion being like, in the role of a mother to ciri (???) when hes literally like….not that involved with her at all. yes he cares about her because of her connection to geralt, (how much he loves geralt) and also just being a good person (because shes a child!) 

but like it entirely erases ciris relationship to yennefer, which is the most powerful familial relationship IN the witcher. like sapkowski fucking draws a giant gold star around ciri and yennefers relationship. yennefer is the reason ciri went to vilgefortz and risked her life, and ciri is the reason yennefer did the same.

and yeah frankly its just like upsetting to see their relationship cast aside for the sake of making geralt and dandelion parents to ciri.

i have been thinking about it for organizational purposes, also because this is a sideblog so i feel slightly limited in how much interaction i can have. 

i might try to create multiple blogs, maybe one for art, one for reblogs/own headcanon posts, and... one for twn-complaining... because i feel twn-complaining became too much of my blog and i regret it heh... 

whatever happens (maybe none of it will) i will keep everyone updated ofc <3
