You know what's so sad about how badly Ladynoir got nuked that it actually turns around to be funny again?
Tumblr media
Not only did Marinette telling Chat Noir that she'll never abandon him loose all meaning in season 5 because she left after being told "no" by him once (and she already wanted to leave before Plagg initiated his plan:
Tumblr media
I know, its almost like the show is going out of its way to nuke Ladynoir) and proceeded to not think about making sure it's at least Scarabella again who Chat Noir will be meeting after last episode to try and prevent the same "new Ladybug" disaster she said she was sorry for from happening again. And who has to tell him the bad news that this time Ladybug left for good and that it was him saying "no" that caused it.
So exactly all the problems with Hack-San again just for real and WORSE, and even the fear he was talking about at the end - that one day it wouldn't be her and he'll never see her again.
It is incredibly difficult for me to be upset with Adrien for leaving bc of all this. Even if I want to. Marinette's side is just so much worse again
But, no. That's not it!
Tumblr media
Even the one and only tini-tiny thing she actually DID manage to remember him for while she threw the darkest red-alert situation at him in "Hack-San", it still ended up ringing pretty much hollow by the end of season 5.
I swear, not a single Ladynoir excuse for Marinette in "Hack-San" is in any way holding up. It's insane.
Cause not ONCE in all of season 4 and 5 does Marinette as Ladybug laugh at anything Chat Noir says. She straight up acknowledged it towards Alya that it makes him happy and she seriously never once does.
That is... genuinely sad. Not sad as in pathetic, just deeply saddening.
And even the few times when civilian Marinette laughs with Chat Noir, I can't remember it ever being at his jokes. It happens when other civilians are bothered by them in the cinema in "Glaciator 2" and in "Elation" when she's having fun at the date in general and later when Adrien tries to be silly while explaining something and then Marinette laughs at Chat being frustrated at himself for not being able to put what he wants to say into words.
But all of these cases are not her laughing at his jokes the way she literally said she knows makes him happy. So she's still not doing it.
Wait, no. When Marichat get the ice cream in "Elation". At least thats a moment where Marinette actively laughs at a joke Chat made. Although, she revealed in "Hack-San" that she would do so, too, even if she didn't think it's funny at all and that unfortunately does leave a very sour taste in my mouth:
Tumblr media
Person B being the only one who genuinely laughs at person A's jokes is such a popular trope for a reason and it stings knowing that even that doesn't truly apply here.
The trope was ironically recycled into Adrien thinking Marinette's behavior is funny which he then in season 5 got shamed for by the narrative when he then found out that he was laughing at her trauma responses and he beats himself up for it (what a weird writing decision, honestly)
But Marinette as Ladybug for some reason just continued to be written to not laugh to make Chat Noir happy (even when she was oh so in love with him in the beginning of season 5) and that puts the genuineness of the rare times she does into question bc Marinette is apparently just willing to fake it every blue moon.
But I guess, credit where credit is due. She did indeed do the thing she said she knows makes Chat Noir happy ONE TIME in 52 episodes. Only as civilian, though. And mind you, she left the next episode and previously said that her laughing doesn't mean she actually thinks he's funny.
But one questionable time is better than non, right ?

So, I'll tell you what would not convince me to watch 4 Minutes sans Build, and that's trying to guilt-trip me by telling me what a bad Bible fan I am if I don't watch it.
I mean, full disclosure, I honestly can't think of anything that would get me to watch 4 Minutes if Build's role is recast, so that's where I'm coming from on this. Build, himself, could promote the show, and my response would be "Mmm. That does not sound like a good time for me. Thank you and I'm sorry, but no."
I don't expect Bible and Build to be tied together forever - I never expected that. But watching 4 Minutes without Build in it would make me sad. And not in the fun and cathartic way a good drama can do. In a way that I would spend the time thinking about how excited I was when the show was announced, and what kind of great work BBB could do with Sammon, and how it would give me a chance to see more of them working together, since actual VP screentime was what? 90 minutes tops? I would spend the time thinking about how it was supposedly created for BBB - for both of them - and about the ever-present Build-shaped absence in the show. I would spend the time thinking about lost opportunity and how Build not appearing in the show was part and parcel of the abuse he suffered, how it was exactly what his abuser told him she'd do to him if he tried to get away from her, and how she'd succeeded in making BOC and its management complicit in that.
I suspect BOC will have done a lot of financial and social calculus on whatever decision they make - whenever they finally get around to making and announcing it, and I'm working real hard to give them the benefit of the doubt and of cultural differences and of translation issues on the wait for that. But ultimately, it comes down to this: This is a hobby for me, I don't engage in my hobbies to feel bad, I don't owe BOC - or anyone - my clicks and my views, and I'm not going to be guilt-tripped into it. That's my calculus on it. I'm not putting on a Pete smile and pretending everything is fine if I'm actually unhappy - not for anyone. And that's what my experience of watching a recast 4 Minutes would be.
So don't try to tell me I'm a bad Bible fan for not making myself miserable. I would love to support Bible, including in 4 Minutes as well as future ventures, but acting like it's my obligation to make myself unhappy doing it? That's toxic, and it's also just another way of punching down at Build fans who are STILL trying to find space and time to grieve everything that's happened in KP fandom in the past four months. I'd be truly sorry to Bible in the case of a recast, but this is precisely the kind of thing Build meant when he tried to get Poi to understand on that phone call that he wasn't the only one she was going to hurt if she proceeded with the lies and abusive behavior she was threatening him with.

48. Fastforward
Fluff, timeskip [10-15 years], cold temperatures, dog mention, referenced memory issues, referenced protectiveness, referenced legal proceedings, referenced past character death, fictional politics
AU Masterpost / Previous
“One hot chocolate, extra cream, and one black coffee, two sugars.”
“That’s me - thanks!” Harrison perked up, snagging the drinks from the counter with a polite smile. The barista gave him a wink. “I hope it goes well. He’s quite handsome.”
Harrison flushed, thankful his dark skin helped hide the blush as he thanked her again and left the cafe.
Wolf was waiting outside, Jakki, his service dog, sitting patiently on the snowy sidewalk.
“That was faster than expected.” Wolf hummed, walking with Harrison toward the park. Harrison sipped at his drink, mittened hands a bit clumsy.
“Yeah, I think the barista rushed it - she thought I was taking you on a date or something.” His laugh wasn’t quite genuine, and he knew Wolf could tell.
“I guess it kind of is. In more of a ‘long time, no see’ date than a first date way.” Wolf paused, Jakki tense at his side as a snowball whizzed past his face. A few university students engaged in the first shots of a snowball fight hollered apologies and politely held their fire until Harrison, Wolf, and the dog had made their way past the danger zone.
“Speaking of, how’s Finland?”
“Colder than here in Geneva, if you can imagine.”
“Ugh, I’d rather not. It’s cold enough here as it is.” He didn’t miss the desert, but he wasn’t fond of the icy air this time of year.
“How’s Katie and Awesome?”
“Good - great, honestly. They’re thinking of signing up for Doctors Without Borders for a bit, once Eli’s at his new boarding school fulltime.” A sad smile twitched at Harrison’s face, both at the current prospects and the nephew named for a dear dead friend.
(Somehow, despite everything - the court case of the century, the US tried in The Hague - the truth of Elias’ death never came up. Nor did Merrick’s, for that matter. Harrison tried not to dwell on it; his hands and Wolf’s both bloodied, but no good would come from guilt now.)
“How’s Mel? I heard she was back in the States recently.”
“Yeah, doing reparation work out there with Jennings and the nations. Walker’s there too, mostly just to keep on eye out I think, but she’d say it’s a vacation.”
“Once an agent, always an agent.” Wolf huffed, breath puffing white in the clean, cold air. His face was rounder, more color in his face than Harrison ever remembered. No matter how dark and dreary Finland was, somehow Wolf always looked fresh from a trip to the Mediterranean.
“How about you? How are things going with…?”
“Good. Better.” His smile wasn't quite genuine, and he knew Harrison could tell. “Memory is back, mostly. On good days. Jakki’s been a good help for bad ones.”
The Australian blue heeler perked at her name, but still seriously scanned their surroundings. Her vest was a vibrant neon orange, insulated against the cold.
“And how’s everyone else up there?” Harrison wasn’t sure what details Wolf could spare. He was vaguely aware that Liza, and Casey to an extent, couldn’t quite leave behind their grifts and cons. RJ was a bit of a wildcard, either deeply invested in some obscure hobby or casually taking assassination jobs. He sincerely hoped it was the former. And Ghost…
“They’re fine. Case and RJ are out in the Canary Islands with Liza - retirement party for her. Or so she promises. For real this time.” Wolf shook his head with a smile, dark hair shining and snow speckled. His smile faded a bit. “And Ghost…he’s trying.”
“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.” Harrison took a long sip from his drink, busying himself with watching the ice rink. There were dozens of skaters, some elegant and some markedly less so.
“He’s just…protective is all. Maybe a bit paranoid. And smothering.” Wolf was clearly trying to work humor into his words, so Harrison offered a snort of amusement. “I’ve been arguing with him about this trip for two months.”
“Really?” Harrison raised a brow. He knew the old mercenary was…still dealing with the guilt of what had happened to his former friend and protege. Harrison didn’t realize quite how badly he was overcompensating for lost time.
“Arguing might be too strong a word, but he certainly took some convincing.” Wolf sipped at his coffee. “But we both agreed we could use some…space.”
“If there’s anything I can help with, let me know.” The words were almost automatic. Harrison didn’t even need to say them - it was a given. The two families - one (mostly) civilian, one (not entirely) criminal - had each others’ back over the years, from legal paperwork to therapy sessions.
“I appreciate that, Harrison.” Wolf sighed, leaning into him slightly where they stood watching the skating rink. Jakki huffed at a stranger who passed a little too closely. “I was actually thinking about - if you don’t mind - living down here for a while.”
“Yes - yeah, sure. That’s fine. I mean, hey, if Katie and Awesome do go abroad for a bit I wouldn’t mind having someone else in the house.” Harrison smiled up at him, hoping his excitement and relief wasn’t too noticeable. The way Wolf smiled down at him proved it was, but he didn’t care too much.
“Ghost will want to visit. Often, unfortunately.” The warning in Wolf’s voice was joking.
“We’ve got a guest bedroom. I mean, assuming you don’t mind sharing a room with me or - ”
“I’d like that.” Wolf’s voice was soft, a gloved hand gently taking hold of Harrison’s own mittened fingers. Harrison squeezed back, not letting go even as they started walking home.

I was curious about "the folk of the air" trilogy, but one of the first things that I found out was that jude's parents killed a pregnant woman to stage eve's death. I felt bad enjoying something building stone for which was some woman and her child's death.
Then I heard Madoc's story. It was so tragic and intriguing that I began to read it. Madoc is not without flaws, to put it mildly. But he was betrayed in the most cruel way by someone he fully trusted. As a tactician, he probably didn't trust anyone. Just eve. Falling out of love is sad, but eve didn't even have a decency to tell it straight to his face. Probably, he would not let her go, or maybe he would but kept vivi with him. Madoc loved her, and she, at least once, thought that she loved him as well. He deserved not to be left mourning, thinking that his wife and child were dead.
If someone I love would betray me, deceive me, steal my child, and leave me mourning him for a decade, I would want a sword through him too.
Not just that. Eve didn't want to leave elfhame once she found out how bloodthirsty Madoc is. She got bored. She enjoyed everything life with him could give and then got tired of it. That had nothing to do with Madoc' nature.
Justin was just as bad. He enjoyed Madoc's hospitality, sat at his table, broke bread with him. Acted as a friend. Was treated with respect, all while in the land where humans are despised and considered lowly creatures. And then proceeded cheating with Madoc's wife.
It is weirdly downplayed that duartes killed a woman. Maybe she wanted to live, wanted her child to live. Maybe there is a husband left somewhere also mourning his wife and child or not knowing at all what happened to them . They just thought that their lives were more important than anyone's else.
And how were they found? justin bragged too much that he stole secrets of faerie's and a bride. He attacked Madoc first, and honestly, I don't know what was he expecting? To kill the high general in one blow? eve also doesn't seem heartbroken over her dead husband. She tries to run away. Fucking where? And leaving her three daughters with someone she just called a monster?
And then Madoc does, in my opinion, the most mind-blowing thing. Not only he takes all three of them because feels responsible for children he met minutes ago. He loves them. Not only provides them with "roof and table", he treats them as his own. Personally instucts in the "art of fighting", plays with them, lets them "sit on his knee and eat of his plate." Madoc doesn't know any freaking fairy tales, so he reads them battle strategy books. "Insisted on treating them as though they were his own born daughters, kissing them on top of their heads and resting his clawed fingers protectively on their shoulders". Public affection display of the freaking high general?! That melts my heart.
And how angry he was after Jude's faerie fruit incident?! It is not "they disrespected me", its "they've hurt my daughter and I will kill them"
He lets taryn marry locke, even though, seeing the disaster a mile away, but doesn't want to bend her will. Tries to save "taryn" from the trial. He doesn't want Jude to become dain's knight, because he already plans to act against him.
He keeps fucking things that justin made in case his daughters want to have something from him.
He loves Oak as his own too. Madoc is all "if a child is under my roof, it is my child. Even when I have to drag them under the said roof"
Madoc did many bad things. But I always believed that one truly redeeming quality is enough for a chance.
I hope he learns to control his bloodthirst. I hope he gets pardoned. I hope he teaches his grandchildren to fight, lets them eat from his plate and reads strategy books before bed. I hope he gets happy ending.

I Tolerate You... (Sherlock x Reader
Main Masterlist
Fluff Promptlist
Summary - Ever since meeting Sherlock everything seemed to be to be going great. Your life was spiraling upwards but so is your feelings for the great detective. When Molly’s jealous words get the better of you. Your insecurity seems to push Sherlock more in your direction causing another stepping stone to some thing greater and something more then just a friendship. Anon Requested: 7 and 27 from the Fluff Promptlist
Tumblr media
Ever since John moved out you have taken his place. You are now tasked on going everywhere with Sherlock but you don’t mind. Problem is, is the slight age difference. He didn’t get your humor especially the slang that you use on a daily bases since you went back to college.
You dropped out at 20 but now a few years later here you are again. Sherlock was really good when it came to certain assignments, like chemistry, or math but that isn’t the only thing he is good at. He has a great mind and sometimes it is hard to keep up. Unlike John he took time to explain his thought process to you. You didn’t know why though you weren’t anything special. Just a college student who has to much time on their hands. Mycroft seemed to think the same for a time. Yet he has never seen Sherlock treat any other woman this way. Mycroft is the only one who can see how taboo this partnership is/can be. He could tell that Sherlock had no idea of your affections and vise-versa/ There is a good 10 years between you but the chemistry between the two of you is strong. Mycroft decided to give you a chance. He had many tea meetings with you when Sherlock was out. He confronted you on your feelings which you proceeded to deny but once he swore to secrecy you began to spill the beans. “I mean I don’t know if what I feel exactly is “love” but I know I feel strongly for him...”  Mycroft sat and listened before asking. “What made these feelings come about?” This caused you to pause. “I know everyone says this but he really is brilliant, but I don’t want him for that reason.” You pause again trying to gather your thoughts. “He is very... I don’t know the term... accommodating? Sweet maybe? He doesn’t make me feel bad about myself.” You say dragging your thumb along the rim of your cup. “He doesn’t make me feel like a college drop out though I know he deduced it from the start he didn’t point it out... And you know Sherlock he will take any opportunity to show his brilliance.” Mycroft looks at you before saying. “What stops you from pursuing him?” He asks and you shrug. “I am to young for him... I am 24 about to turn 25 and he is in his mid-thirties.” You let out a sigh. “And I know I am way to childish for him. He would probably want someone more his age...” You say. Mycroft begins to interject but you continue to speak. “I mean. He must have deduced that I liked him... He just doesn’t want to say anything. I don’t blame him though. I would rather be here and stay his friend then not be here and lose what we have...” Mycrofts eyes seem to widen. “You really care for him don’t you...” You nod.
“Yeah... Honestly I don’t know if I would still be here if it wasn’t for him. He showed me that set backs don’t determine what a great mind can do.” You look up at Mycroft “ In Sherlocks case it may be social cues or understanding certain emotion. For me?” You set the tea cup down and place your hands in your lap. “For me it is my lack of motivation... He gives me that motivation. He inspired me to go back to college. I dropped out when I was 20. I was 23 when I met him and here I am nearly 25 and I am already at the top of my class.”  Mycroft shifts slightly. “That is truely inspiring (Y/N). I am glad my brother has done some good but I will say he can be quite oblivious.” Mycroft stands up grabbing his umbrella and hanging it over his wrist. “That may work out in your favor because so far I believe he hasn’t caught on to your affections.”  He walks over to the main door and turns back to you. “If something does become of you... You have my blessing.” He says with a nod before exiting. You feel heat come to your cheeks when you hear the door in the floor bellow slam shut.
As of right now you are sitting in front of him as he looks through his microscope in the morgue lab thing. He was spewing some facts on a current case when he notices that you weren’t adding anything to the conversation. He looks up at you and you just continue to stare. “Has my excellence rendered you speechless?” He asks with a smug look on his face and you groan. “No dude you have fuzz in your hair.” You say and lean over and pretend to remove something from his hair. In reality you just wanted to run your hair through his magnificent curls. “Why do you insist on calling me dude? You sound more American by the day.” He says and you laugh. “I am American dipshit.” Sherlock only rolls his eyes. “And insanely vulgar as usual (Y/N)...” “Just admit it! You are so in love with me.” You say. This causes you to let out another ugly belly laugh. If your eyes weren’t closed you would have noticed Sherlock’s slight smile before he continued with his work while you continue your math homework. Suddenly the door opens to see Molly who you have come acquainted with, yet she seems a little standoffish. You feel her look between the two of you. “Hey Molly!” You say and she gives a strained yet polite “Hi.” You continue your work. “You know a lab is no place to do college work.” Molly says as she walks up next to Sherlock. He doesn’t look up from his work but he says. “Jealousy doesn’t look good on you Molly...” He says in his regular monotone voice. You both look shocked. “Why would I be jealous of her!” Molly exclaims. “She is just some college student! She’s ju-” “She is just a woman who receives most of my attention.” He says turning toward her  “That is what makes you jealous Molly and your vibe is off putting now please.” He waves her off and Molly has a shocked look but she quickly rushes off while saying “You are even using her terminology...” Sherlock goes back to writing his notes when you speak up. “She is right you know... I am just a college student.” You say fiddling with your pencil. Sherlock pauses and looks up again. “Like... I don’t understand why you chose me as your partner in solving crime...” You say and begin packing your things. “You are feeling insecure. You shouldn’t let things people say get to you.” You pause in your packing and look up at him. Sherlock stands up and moves around the table and stands in front of you.
“I can’t really help it Sherlock... I mean why should she be jealous. She is a beautiful woman who is way closer to your age a-” “Why would your age affect how I feel?” He asks looking down at you. You have yet to meet his eye. “And what do you feel Sherlock? I am just some college drop out looking for redemption...I am nothing special...” You feel Sherlock place a hand on your shoulder. “Plus you don’t feel anything. Well for me at least. You always said sentiment was a weakness... And you also sa-” “I know what I say (Y/N)!” He exclaims causing you to jump and look up at him. “Sentiment is a weakness.” He says and your face falls. “It’s a feeling and I am not use to it. I’m not use to you.” You look confused and go to say something but he covers your mouth. “Let me speak... I am not good with words and I need to get this out.” He says and uncovers your mouth. He places both hands on your shoulders and sighs. “I am not use to you as in... I am not use to the feelings you give me... I... I don’t know the feeling it’s just.” He pauses for a moment and paces away from you his back facing you. “I know... I feel... I… I tolerate you… That is the only way I can describe it. I know it isn’t the chemical imbalance of love at least... at least not yet but I-” “I love you too Sherlock...” Sherlock's posture straightens as he turns around. You walk up to him and smile. “I know you don’t understand it yet and you don’t have to say it back but... I will be here waiting for when you are ready.” You say and he nods. “Thank you (Y/N)...” He leans down and kisses your temple. “I really... I really appreciate that.” Your face was beet red which caused a smirk to come over his face but overall this was the best moment you will probably have your entire life. It is sad that someone was there watching you waiting to ruin it.

Authors Note: Thank you so much for sending in the first request for this blog! Fair warning I'm doing all my writing on my phone at the moment and I couldn't really get the ending to flow how I wanted it to so it's not perfect, but I really hope everyone likes it!
Tumblr media
[Image Description: A gif of Merlin (from the BBC Show Merlin played by Colin Morgan) looking over his shoulder. End description]
It was such a silly mistake.
You trusted someone too soon, tried to help them.
Next thing you knew you were being accused of witchcraft. It was true but considering your accuser had no real evidence you thought perhaps you could argue your way out of it. You called them crazy, demanded proof, spouted off any alternative explanation for what had happened to no avail. Uther didn't give a damn about proof, the moment the word magic was held against you it was up to you to prove you hadn't used it.
Even if you hadn't, how do you prove a thing like that?
Pleading your case was useless, and the one person who could help you had left with Arthur and the knights before any of this had begun. Even if they somehow showed up before the execution, you wouldn't want Merlin's help.
He couldn't be caught helping you, not with his destiny. You weren't worth the risk, though he certainly would've argued otherwise if he'd had the chance.
No, you only had one choice left in your small cell. You would have to find an opportunity to use something that you saved for a situation such as this. When an old friend came to visit, to say goodbye, that was your opportunity.
You asked them to come back with the blue vial tucked in the back of your armoire. "It's a poison," You had told them. "I don't want to give Uther the satisfaction."
Tearfully, they obliged. In the middle of the night you chugged it down, and not one hour later your 'body' was wrapped in a sheet and wheeled out of the dungeons 'To be buried in the morning.' But the enchantment on the potion wore off before then, and you woke up alone and free.
You crept out of Camelot at the break of dawn with nothing but the clothes on your back, making it to the treeline before your will broke down and you turned back to look at the old castle peeking out over the tall walls.
Your home was behind those walls, your friends lived there, and the man you had surely fallen for. Tears stung your eyes as you thought about him, the fact you never got to say goodbye, how long it would be until you would see him again.
You could risk waiting for him to return, but if someone outside of Arthur's party were to catch you...you would be forced to do something you'd regret. You'd have to cross the line of no return and goodbye at that point would surely be permanent.
'Someday,' You thought, 'Until then, he'll understand, he might even come find me.'
Little did you know the guard who discovered the empty cloth had no intention of telling the king that the body of a prisoner had gone missing on his watch. No, he had a family to tend to, he wasn't losing his position because of some witch. It didn't even cross his mind that you might not be dead.
There was an empty grave in the pauper's field the next morning, and any questions on your whereabouts were contained in the mind of one underpaid guardsman for two years.
Meanwhile, Merlin had been devastated when he heard the news, even confused. Gaius told him the whole story, what he knew of it anyway, but he could never wrap his mind around it. It didn't make sense. He had spoken to you only a few days before, you smiled and hugged him and told him to come home safe. And just like that you were gone? The irrational fear of someone you tried to help, and the blind tyranny of Uther, that's all it took and now nobody would ever see that smile again. No, it didn't make any sense at all.
He eventually did what he had to do, put on a brave face and got back to work. And yes, a while after that night things got somewhat close to normal again. But there were always moments where he'd think to himself that he'd have to tell you about his day or a joke he heard, and then he'd remember. In other moments, he'd see Uther laughing at dinner or be forced to hear one of his speeches and his jaw would clench just a little tighter than it had before. And when he found himself awake in the middle of the night, when the world was dead silent and the only light in his room came from the moon, it was because he had found himself caught up in the memories you had together.
You had those nights too.
You had been dead on your feet by the time you stumbled into the small, reclusive village you'd learn to call your home. You'd been told that nobody really ever passed through on purpose, and they liked it that way. You told them that you could use a life like that, and then asked if they had need a physician. They did.
Sure, a reclusive person probably would've loved the little life you built for yourself. You had a small but cozy spot to live on the edge of the village, not long after you showed up you began to tend to minor wounds and ailments, making a few friends along the way. Occasionally two farmers would ride into the city to barter off crops for supplies and other things, eventually they began to bring you back a book or a small trinket each time to thank you for your work. It was nice.
But still loneliness tugged at your heart, more than you imagined it would when you took that last look at your home. On the most random days, doing the most random things, you'd find yourself thinking about everyone again and crying for up to an hour before you could pull yourself together again. Those moments became more rare over time, but they never hurt any less. You were never quite back to normal.
Finally, you were wrapping a farmers broken finger, speaking about the state of the kingdom and how you were surprised Uther had felt the need to improve anything it all, when you heard the news.
"Oh, no. The king died months ago, Arthur's in charge now."
You knew you must've gone pale, as the next thing the man said to you was a question of your health. You were quick to respond with a growing smile, "Why didn't you say something earlier?"
He shrugged at you, "I'm not all that concerned with politics. These men, they're all the same to us out here, you know?"
But you knew the difference.
Your life depended on it.
You finished his treatment and sent him away without much else to say on the matter. You had to pack, after all. Later on that day you pleaded with a neighbor to let you borrow her horse, and your friends gathered around as they overheard you say you needed to go to the capitol. You honestly felt a bit bad leaving in such a rush, but after you relayed a safe version of your story, why you came here and why you had to leave, they all seemed to understand.
With many promises from you that they could send for you if they ever needed to, and many words of encouragement from them, you took off. Even when you stopped in the night to allow the horse some rest, you never got any yourself, too excited and nervous and overwhelmed all at once. You spent hours contemplating what to say to everyone, but nothing seemed right.
Another days journey, and you were home.
The response you got to your return wasn't what you expected. Your first stop was to check on the friend who got the potion to you in the first place, and strangely they let out a short shriek before slamming the door in your face. You knocked again, speaking through the door. "It's me...I'm back?"
"Go away!"
You furrowed your brow at them, hurt and confused. But ultimately you walked away, thinking a reaction like that might be deserved considering what you must've put them through that night. As you continued down the street there were a few people who recognized you and proceeded to clear out of your way with gasps and whispers, pulling along anyone they were walking with.
Last time you were here you had been accused of witchcraft, and two decades of fear don't just disappear with a new king, so you simply accepted that as the reasoning and started to make your way up through the lower towns.
On the other end of the city, Merlin had just reached the end of an extremely long day. It had dragged on so long that it felt as though the walk from the armoury to his room took another hour. He didn't even bother to get something to eat, he just wanted to sleep. So naturally when he had just layed down in bed when someone decided to knock on the front door, he didn't know any better than to be annoyed.
At first he thought Gaius would take care of it, then he remembered that he wasn't home.
Maybe they'll just go away.
Whoever it was knocked again and he pulled the pillow over his head.
Please go away.
The front door creaked open and he heard a familiar voice call out. "Hello...Gaius? Merlin?"
He sat up, a heavy feeling settling into his gut as he realized where he had heard that voice before.
But...it couldn't be. Could it?
He shook his head, leaving his bedroom to shoo out the person who couldn't have been you.
But there you were, flipping through an old book that had been sitting on the table since the day before. When you noticed he was standing there you looked up with a sad smile, saying the only thing that you could think of; "Hi..."
"Hi?"
"I uh- I know it's been a long time," You started, crossing your arms over your chest in an awkward stance. "I wish I didn't have to leave like I did but..."
"Leave??" He repeated what you said once more. Finally you registered how strangely he was looking at you, not angry or upset but bewildered, and maybe even scared. What he said next confused you even more. "How are you alive?"
"I thought you might've had more faith in me than that." You joked, but he wasn't amused. "Am I missing something?"
He was hesitant to approach you, unsure of how he was supposed to say it but he tried. "They told me you were gone, that you'd poisoned yourself. I mean...Gaius saw you."
"It was meant to look like that, but it was a trick." You said. "I left when I awoke, they didn't tell people I escaped?"
He shook his head no, tears starting to stream down his face. "...I can't believe this."
As the reality of the situation hit you, you couldn't help but cry as well. All you were guilty about, what you thought you put your loved ones through, it had actually been so much worse. "I am so sorry, if I had any idea I would've- well I don't know what I would've done. I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I'm just, I'm so happy that you're here, and you're okay." Striding over with a grin, he pulled you into his arms. "I've missed you."
"And I, you. More than I could ever put into words." With a laugh you continued. "Things got so boring without you."
"I'm sure they did, you won't believe some of things I have to tell you."
And that was all it took, you both sat down at a table as you filled each other in on everything that had happened in the last two years. It took hours, there were multiple times you had to stop and collect yourselves as certain stories had you laughing until your stomachs ached. Gaius came home and after another tearful welcome back he made you all something to eat and had plenty of his own twists on things that had happened.
As if no time had passed at all, the world felt normal again. You were back where you belonged.
You were home.

“Oh My God”
Paring: Tewkesbury x Fem!Reader
Request: Yes / No | “maybe a lil tewkesbury oneshot (also it is tewkesbury, i get how there are different variations but it was gnawing at me not knowing the correct spelling that i pulled it up with subtitles to confirm lmao, anyway) where idk maybe there are certain situations where he's not acting like himself but no he's just a lovesick child and enola being enola she tries investigating?? and then finds out he's happy and in a relationship??” - @biqherosix
Warnings: Other than too much description?? Nope
Word Count: 1,492
(A/N): OMG!! Ever since I posted the “what fandoms I'll write for” and I’ve actually gotten requests !! By the time I get this out, I hope I’ve gotten more!! So for this request, it mentions that Tewkesbury is… talking to Enola, which is implied in the movie that they will, but for the sake of this fic, they DID talk later and are straight up best friends :). Also, there literally isn’t any tewkesbury fics?! Like um, can anyone recommend any cause I can’t find ANY.  n e wayz, ily all and I hope you have a great day !! mwah !
Tumblr media
Enola.... well you can say she was worried to say the least. Though she wasn’t the ‘’oh my god I’ll die” type of worried, she was just… curious.
After the fiasco events that both Enola and Tewkesbury endured in the past, good actually came out of it, rather than just plain sad memories. Enola realized that she had the infamous Holmes detective skills (and is amazing at it), and she then got into (more forced, but that doesn’t matter) a beautiful friendship.
We all know the chemistry Enola and Tewkesbury had, trust me, but with a mutual conversation that with her constant cases and his duties as a lord, it would be best to just remain friends rather than get heartbroken.
That didn’t mean that they couldn’t hang out. Please, if anything that’s all they did once their work was completed. It was pretty diverse, to a simple walk to the bakery to full blown pranks to a certain annoying brother. Enola just couldn’t help it. So you can imagine her worry once Tewkesbury started being more absent. He would always say he was busy with his lord duties, but he would always be “busy” different times of every day. Enola always knows when his work would be started and finished, she isn’t stupid. So tell her why this man would leave at a certain hour, then the next day suddenly leave at a completely different time
That’s also when he started to get “distracted” more often than usual. To the point he would miss full length conversations because he was lost in thought. There was even a point where Enola bluntly asked,
“Is there something wrong Tewkesbury?”
“Mhm?” was all that came out of him. Of course, he was distracted again.
“My point exactly” she sighed, “Is there anything going on? Maybe at work? I know there’s this huuuuge crisis going on in the ci-”
And that’s where he started to zone out. Don’t get him wrong, he loves Enola and her rants, but those rants often do get a bit tedious. That’s when he started thinking about you, probably one of his favorite pastimes to do. What? Can you blame him? You’re just so adorable! Though to be totally honest, he didn’t really know why he won’t tell Enola about you, she’ll love you, more than she already does (it’ll make sense later). Sure, she’ll get investigative, but that’s how she is, nothing can stop that.
He honestly can’t imagine someone genuinely dislike you. You’re one of the nicest people in the world, always putting others before yourself. Possibly even nicer than himself. Nope, that can’t possibly be. There was even this one instance where he bought you a whole bouquet of flowers, though you proceeded to smack him with a flower, saying “you really ought to stop buying these flowers for me, you gonna go poor!” but then you felt bad, taking him to a bakery as a ‘sorry’ for doing that.
Though he won’t lie when he says when your niceness attracts other people, lets just say his arms around your waist are more frequent in those scenarios.
“-sure hope that you can fix that one cause, that’ll be a mes- TEWKESBURY!!”
He almost fell out of the chair! “Wha-? What! Why was that necessary?!”
“Because it was!! What were you possibly thinking about to make you react like that? My topic of conversation was completely full of information that goes with your expertise.” Enola said slyly. You’d think this guy would listen to what she’d say, he’s at times quite draft in the courtroom, but then again she wasn’t any better.
“You basically yelled in my ear!” he said defensively “and please, anyone would die of boredom with a political conversation with you.”
She then proceeded to hit him with a random glove that was nearby. Enola was starting to get annoyed with Tewkesbury, but when didn’t she.
“You know what? I have to go anyways.” he said
“Seriously? Right after we had an argument?” I mean, who does that?
“What can I say, duties awaits.” Right after that conversation, he picked himself up, and left. We can confidently say both Enola and Tewkesbury know that he won’t be doing anything of that sort. So Enola being... Enola, followed him to wherever he could possibly be going *wink wink*. She followed him to the streets, where halfway, he stopped to go to a flower store.
We all know Enola is extremely smart, so it wasn’t a surprise when she started to the the pieces together.
“Oh my god”.
Enola can admit that Tewkesbury was an attractive guy, anyone can admit that, but for some reason, she never imagined that he was actually with someone. In a way, she was happy, he had someone. Then once she actually actually thought about it, she started getting mad. How could he possibly not tell him?! She told him everything that was going on in her life, bad and the good. So why would he possibly not tell her what’s going on in his life? You could say that she was overreacting but they are best friends!
Enola hid once again once he saw Tewkesbury leave with a beautiful pink rose in his hand. She then proceeded to follow him all the way to his destination without him noticing, she was slick like that. And saw him enter a house... that wasn’t his.
Tewkesbury finally was able to see you. Don’t get him wrong, he loves hanging out with Enola, but he desperately just wanted to see you.
“Really, another flower?”
“Wow, no ‘why hello sweetheart, how was your day, you look dashing today?’ ” He said sarcastically. “Besides, be happy I didn’t buy the whole bouquet. Just a beautiful rose to match my beautiful girlfriend.”
You laughed, with a blush, at his compliment. He was always able to do that. You went to him, putting your arms around his neck, “You’re so cheesy.”
“Only for you.” He says with that smile of his. Once he leaves the flower in a vase, joining the other flowers (that gives you an idea how much he gives to you), then proceeds to pick you up, and takes you to the couch.
“TEWKESBURY!” You squealed. He laughed, looking at you with such adoration, but what was he supposed to do? You looked beautiful, with the sunlight shining your features, and your hair being perfectly done with your favorite hairdo.
He places you on the couch, then him placing his head on your lap. He just wanted to relax, and you did have that magical touch, especially with you playing with his hair.
You then started to get a little worried. Although he didn’t know it, you could see his facial features getting... almost sadder. He was always the happy type, always smiling, so when he’s sad, you can almost always tell.
“You okay, Tewkesbury?” He chuckled, there’s that kindness.
“I’m fine darling.” he said while stroking your cheek.
“Mhm. Nice try love, but you’re going to have to tell me what’s going in that small brain of yours”
He then acted hurt, giving you a scoff. “Hey, I might be an idiot but I’m your idiot.” he laughed, giving you his infamous smile. Though he ended up not saying anything after that, making you quite a tad annoyed.
“You know what..” He wondered what you meant by this, but then quickly learned once you got up. He grumbled, definitely not wanting that to happen.
“What are you doing?” He asked
“Being stubborn.” You said crossing your arms. Tewkesbury was amused to say the least, you looked so cute while you were angry. “I’m not going back until you tell me what’s wrong”
“Fine, I’ll tell you, just please hold me.” He said it with such an adoring face that you just melted at the sight of. How could you say no to that face?
You went to his direction, sat down, and proceeded to hold him tightly, like you always do. Ready to listen to whatever was making him uneasy.
“It’s just Enola... I haven-”
The door slapped open.
“Oh My God.”
“Oh My God!”
“What?! Why the ‘oh my gods?!”
“(Y/N)?!!” Enola basically yelled.
“Enola?”
Okay, backstory coming up. You and Enola are quite good friends, not to a point where you would hang out every single day, but good friends where you guys would send a letter occasionally, asking each other to go to the library, or to hang out at the park, maybe even join in a prank or two with Enola’s dear brother. That’s actually how you and Tewkesbury met, both you and Enola running away from a prank that both of you pulled, and both of you happened to run into him. Lets just say he was intrigued the first time he met you.
“Oh my god.” He said, just now realizing what was going to happen, and it probably wasn’t good.
“YESS!! You guys are together!!”
huh.

JJ Maybank is was a player.
This is a well-known fact on both sides of the island.
You knew of way too many girls, pogues, kooks, and tourons alike, that had tried their shot at him. All hoping that they could magically change his bad-boy exterior and that he would suddenly transform into the dating type.
It wasn't uncommon that you had girls come into the shop, crying to you about how JJ Maybank didn't text them back and proceeding to buy a bunch of sweets to comfort themselves.
Your family-owned Kildare Bakery, home of the best cupcakes the Outer Banks had to offer. You had grown up helping your parents out in the bakery and once you turned 16 they finally made you an official paid employee.
You worked behind the register and for the most part, you loved it. It was really interesting to meet new people, especially tourons visiting from out of state.
However, there were moments where you didn't enjoy your job and this was definitely one of them.
A girl who looked to be about your age had walked into the store a few minutes ago, looking sad, but you didn't say anything. You simply asked if she needed any help and all of a sudden she was breaking out into a fit of sobs, reaching across the counter to pull you into a hug. You awkwardly patted her back, “Umm, you okay?”
“T-there was this boy,” she hiccuped and you immediately knew exactly where this was going. “I met him at a party last night and we h-hooked up and it was like really good, but when I asked him for his number he wouldn't even give it to me.”
You tried to hold back your eye roll but you couldn't help it. “Let me guess, his name was JJ,” you say, his name sounding slightly bitter on your tongue.
The girl finally pulled away from you, wiping her puffy eyes. “You know him,” she asked in confusion.
You nod. “Yes. Don't worry though, you'll find a much better guy and you will forget about JJ in no time,” you say in an attempt to comfort her.
She narrows her eyes. “Wait, you've hooked up with him too,” the girl asks.
You can't help but laugh. “Absolutely not, I just get a lot of his previous hookups in here,” you explain, gesturing to the display case. “I typically recommend the double chocolate cupcake to girls who've had their heart broken by JJ Maybank.”
The girl continues to look at you in confusion, but nods at your suggestion. You grab a chocolate cupcake and quickly box it up wanting to get her and all of her emotions out of here as quickly as you could.
“That'll be $2.34,” you say, and the girl quickly pulls out a ten. You hand her her change and her cupcake. “Have a nice day.”
Unbeknownst to you, JJ Maybank himself watches the interaction from outside of the bakery.
He can't help the way his heart feels when he sees you comfort the crying girl who he vaguely remembers from the boneyard last night.
Pope nudges his rib cage with his elbow. “Seriously, JJ,” Pope says, clearly annoyed by the blonde boy. “You brought me all the way down here just so you could stare at the girl you've had a crush on for years.”
JJ rolls his eyes, trying to cover up the blush forming on his cheeks. “I don't have a crush on her,” he says in an attempt to convince his friend. “I just think she's nice to look at.”
This was a complete and utter lie. Despite growing up in Kildare, you weren't very well known on the island, most people didn't pay you a second glance. You didn't really partake in the typical shenanigans of the teens on this island, and you always felt invisible to your peers.
But JJ saw you.
He had seen you every day in gym class Freshman year, every day in biology sophomore year, and every day he didn't skip in English junior year. And now that summer had rolled around, he couldn't help but come to the bakery just so he could see you more. JJ not only thought you were a living, breathing angel, but he also adored the way you were always so sweet and kind to everyone you met. How could he not have a crush on a girl like you? You were like a cold that he couldn't shake, not that he ever wanted to. But in his mind, a girl like you would never go for a guy like him.
Watching you talk to one of his hookups made him oddly guilty. He knew he shouldn't, but hooking up with random girls was the only way he could think to take his mind off you. Clearly, that didn't work, because here he was, yet again, staring at you through a window.
“Dude, you're so whipped,” Pope said with an eye roll. “Just go talk to her.”
JJ’s eyes widened. “Absolutely not.”
Pope scoffed. “You're telling me you've never even talked to the girl?” he asks incredulously. “JJ, bro, you're a goner.”
“You say that like it's easy,” the blonde says, dramatically gesturing his arms.
With another eye roll, Pope puts both hands on the other boy's shoulders. “Okay here's what you do,” he says and JJ listens intently. “Walk inside the store, go up to the counter, and you fucking talk to her.”
JJ pulls away. “Dude no way,” he exclaims.
“Okay fine,” Pope says. “If you go in there and talk to her, I'll give you all my delivery tips for a whole week.”
JJ looks at him. “A week,” he asks unconvinced.
“Fine. Two weeks.” They shake on it and JJ prepares himself to go inside.
The idea of even talking to you makes his stomach queasy. God, Pope is right, he is whipped.
After a few minutes, JJ tells his friend that he is ready and Pope pats him on the back before pushing him towards the entrance encouragingly.
You looked up to the door when you heard the bell ring, signaling someone entering. You were shocked to see the same boy you had been talking about moments ago. You make eye contact with his big blue eyes, getting entranced for a second. Pushing away your negative impression of the boy, you offer him a sweet smile.
JJ looks down at your lips, then back up to your eyes and without a word. You wonder why he isn't moving further into the shop, but before you can ask what is wrong, he turns around and walks right out the door.
Once outside, Pope comforts the boy with a laugh, telling him “next time” and they walk away from the shop leaving you utterly confused.
The next day, JJ drags John B, Pope, and Kiara along with him to the bakery, telling them that he needs “extra support”.
“C’mon man,” John B says with a shrug. “(Y/N) is way too nice to shoot you down,” he adds jokingly.
Kiara elbows him in the stomach. “Don't listen to him, JJ,” she says, shooting John B a glare. “Just be yourself.”
JJ nods, feeling confident as he walks through the bakery doors, but the second he sees your radiant smile all his courage flies out the window and he quickly walks back out the door.
This cycle goes on for three more days. JJ walks in, sees you, and leaves. You are becoming annoyed with the boy's actions, wondering if he is playing some sort of stupid prank on you.
It is Friday night, a few minutes before the bakery closes, and JJ decides that enough is enough. He needs to talk to you and he needs to do it now.
You are wiping down the display cases when you hear the bell ring.
When you turn around, you see JJ. Before he can say anything you glare at him. “Are you kidding me,” you say, sassily. JJ didn't even know you had a sassy bone in your body. “You've come in here every day this week and you look at me and then walk out,” you lecture him, “Seriously, just order something.”
“I-I,” JJ stutters but he can't get a word out in his shocked state.
Closing your eyes you try to regain your composure. “I'm sorry,” you say, your voice softening already feeling guilty about raising your voice at him. “I didn't mean to lash out on you.”
JJ shakes his head, softly smiling at your kindness. “No it's me who should be sorry,” he says remorsefully. “I probably confused you so much. I just- I think you're really beautiful.”
His words shock you. JJ Maybank thinks you are beautiful? You didn't even know he knew you existed before today. This had to be a prank.
You softly pout at him. “That's not very funny, JJ,” you say, looking anywhere but his eyes.
“What?” he asks, confused.
“It's not funny to play me like that.”
JJ frowns at your accusation, heartbreaking slightly. “I'm being honest, (Y/N). You are really pretty.”
You narrow your eyes. “I'm not sleeping with you just because you called me beautiful,” you say.
The blonde boy blushes hard. Clearly, you knew of his reputation, and he hated himself for it. “I don't want to sleep with you. Well I mean, I do, but- shit,” JJ cuts his rambling short, noticing the scowl on your face. “What I meant to say is that I want to take you on a real date, and hold your hand, and kiss you goodnight n’shit.”
To say you're shocked is an understatement. “How do I know this isn't some elaborate joke,” you ask him warily.
“It isn't, I promise,” JJ says honestly, but the look on your face doesn't change. “Last year in English you sat in the second row, three seats from the left and you got A’s on all your papers because you are a good writer. In Mr. Hills biology class you fell asleep almost every day and you would always drool a little bit on your notes. In gym class Freshman year you hit my friend John B in the face with a basketball and you didn't stop apologizing for like three weeks. Trust me (Y/N), I've had a crush on you for a long time.”
By the time JJ finishes his speech, your jaw has dropped. You didn't think anyone at that school even knew your name, let alone JJ Maybank.
“I-I honestly don't know what to say,” you tell him. “You have a crush on me? You, JJ Maybank, the one guy I told myself I would never fall for?”
You didn't know it, but every word that falls from your mouth is like a knife to JJ’s heart.
“But I couldn't help myself,” you add, causing JJ to perk up a little bit. “I get girls in here all the time whose hearts you broke, but still, I see you living your best life with your friends and I can't help but want that with you.”
“Go out with me,” JJ says with a mouth splitting grin on his face, “Please. You can wear something nice and I'll bring you flowers pick you up and take you out to a fancy restaurant.”
You can't help but laugh at his outburst. JJ is pretty sure that his heart stops at the sound and he wants nothing more than to make you laugh every day for the rest of his life.
“I'm a simple girl, JJ,” you say sweetly, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. “You don't have to spend a bunch of money on me.”
“You're worth every pen-” you cut the boy off by holding your hand up.
“How about you grab some pizza and I'll grab some dessert and you can pick me up and take me to a picnic on the beach,” you suggest.
JJ looks at you and nods his head like an obedient puppy.
“Okay, it's settled. Now get out of the bakery so I can close up,” you say with a giggle, playfully shooing him away.
The blonde quickly moves to leave. “I'll pick you up at 6?” he asks sweetly from the doorway.
You nod. “I like pepperoni,” you call out with a chuckle as he backs out of the door, a big smile on his face.
JJ Maybank has a crush on you.

pairing: tom holland x fem!reader
summary: in which tom is your ex-boyfriend and a night in vegas for your mutual friend’s birthday leads to a surprising drunk confession
warnings: explicit language, drunkenness, so much angst, (italicized means flashback)
word count: 2.9k
author’s note: first time ever posting any kind of writing on here but i’m actually very proud of this so i hope you all enjoy! things gets berry berry angsty and sad in this so i’m sorry in advance </3
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Against your many drunken protests, the night was coming to an end. You did not want to leave the club you were in along with Zendaya and the friends she invited, so you pouted at the girl, knowing that since this whole Vegas trip had been for her birthday, she would be able to make everyone stay.
“Come on, Z. We should all have a couple more drinks,” You told her, words coming out slightly slurred, showing how inebriated you were.
“No way, Y/N. I think you’ve had enough drinks for the night,” Zendaya responded, and instead of verbally responding to her, you simply pouted again.
You felt upset that you had to leave, but the tiniest part of you that was sober knew you would thank her in the morning for making you do so.
Zendaya turned her attention to Tom, who was sitting at the table that the group of friends had been occupying for most of the night. “Tom, since you and Y/N are staying at the same hotel, can you make sure she gets back to her room okay?”
Tom turned his gaze away from his phone and nodded at Zendaya’s request. He looked at where you were now standing by the bar, animatedly talking and laughing with Jacob and Harrison. Seeing how happy you looked with them reminded Tom of the situation the two of you were in.
For the past two days of this Vegas trip, you both had barely spoken any words to each other. This avoidance wasn’t necessarily purposeful, it was just something that happened, and it honestly made sense. With the way things ended between you two, there was bound to be some lingering awkward tension, especially since this was the first time you guys had been in the same vicinity of each other since the breakup, which happened a little over six months ago.
Neither of you hated the other, but you definitely weren’t going to initiate anything more than some simple small talk.
However, tonight was much different than the past two days in Vegas had been. You were drunk, and anytime you were in this intoxicated state, you became overly friendly and a little too honest, a mixture that almost always led to some type of disaster.
• • •
The beginning of the elevator ride up to your floor was fairly quiet until you started drunkenly rambling to Tom, acting as if there wasn’t any awkward tension between the two of you. It was mainly because the drunk version of you gave zero fucks about the awkwardness that had been lingering for so long.
“We should’ve stayed for just one more drink. It would have been really fun,” You said to him, grinning widely as you leaned back against the wall of the elevator. Tom was standing right next to you. He had been like this the entire way to the hotel just in case you tripped or anything else; he had seen you drunk enough times before to know some of your usual mannerisms.
“You’re already pretty drunk, though,” Tom responded, chuckling lightly.
Even though his words were true, you still gasped, offended. “No, I’m not!”
Once again, Tom laughed, and the sound made your heart simultaneously flutter and ache.
His laugh was your favorite thing about him, not only the soft and happy sound of it but the way his mouth turned up in a wide smile as he did so too. And hearing that oh-so-familiar laugh right then made you realize that this was the first time you’ve heard it in a while, and it also made you desperately want to listen to it again.
“I still love your laugh so much,” You told him, knowing you would not have said that if you were any hint of sober.
As the words spilled from your lips, you noticed the corner of Tom’s mouth perk up the tiniest bit in a smile. “And this honesty is how I know you’re very drunk right now.”
You rolled your eyes, and a full smile took over your features. “I didn’t see you drink at all tonight.”
Tom simply shrugged. “Wasn’t really in the mood.”
The grey elevator doors then opened up to the nineteenth floor before you could say anything in response to Tom’s statement. Both you and he exited the elevator, and you began walking in the direction of your hotel room. That was until you noticed that none of the numbers was the one for your room, and instead of the room numbers on the doors decreasing to the one that was yours, they were actually increasing.
“Wait, fuck. We’re going the wrong way.” You quickly turned around and started walking in the opposite direction. The abrupt action caused you to trip over absolutely nothing but your own feet. Tom attempted to reach for you, but you hit the ground before he could even get the chance to grab your arm.
“Shit, you okay, Y/N?” Tom asked as he knelt down next to you.
You nodded at his question as you laughed a bit and sat up on the carpeted floor, crossing your legs under you. “I’m okay. Can we actually sit here for a sec? The floor is pretty comfortable.”
Tom smiled amusingly at your drunken actions and proceeded to sit down across from you on the carpeted floor of the hallway.
It was quiet for a few moments, and things mainly consisted of you silently admiring his face and him attempting to decipher what you were thinking.
“How are you and Lily?” You asked him. The question randomly came to mind, and before you could stop it from coming out of your mouth, it was blurted.
To say Tom was confused about your words would be an understatement. He hadn’t posted anything about his new relationship yet since it was still slightly recently, and he was nowhere near ready to do so. When you two were together, it took over ten months until you both decided to “go public” with your relationship.
“We’re good,” He answered after his brief moment of confusion. “I didn’t even know that you know about Lily and me.”
Your shoulders lifted in a simple shrug. “I was talking to Harrison about a month ago, and he accidentally mentioned it.”
That conversation was something you remembered all too well. Specifically, the bittersweetness you felt when Harrison told you that Tom was with someone new. You knew that it was a good thing, and overall you were happy for him, but you couldn’t help but feel the tiniest twinge of sadness, knowing that Tom being in a new relationship meant that things were truly over for the two of you.
The thought made you feel a thousand times more upset than you knew you would’ve felt if you were sober. And it also made you feel like an idiot because you were the one who ended things all those months ago, so you shouldn’t be feeling sad at all. But if you considered the circumstances which made you end things, your emotions entirely made sense.
“Hey, are you okay?” Tom was quick to notice how upset you looked, and his voice was full of concern.
God, now you absolutely hated the fact that you were drunk. It made the tears that were threatening to spill from your eyes feel uncontrollable.
You ultimately swallowed back the tears and sad thoughts, letting your drunken mind roam to a place that was much less depressing. “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. I just— Nevermind. Hey, do you remember that time we went to Disney and became completely obsessed with the churros? I swear we both had like five that day.”
You had no idea how your mind brought you to thinking about and bringing up that story, especially because it was something you hadn’t thought about in forever. But the memory always made you laugh, just as you were doing right then.
Tom laughed too as he nodded his head. “That feels like it happened so long ago, but yeah, I remember that. Honestly, I’d go back to Disneyland just for the churros.”
The more you thought about that memory, the more you missed those times with Tom. It made you wonder if he missed that as well. Does he miss me too?
Even though you were drunk, your brain was smart enough not to ask that question. However, it was sadly not smart enough to stop you from saying the next thing you said.
“Can I tell you a secret?”
Once again, a confused expression took over Tom’s features. He had no idea where you were going with your question, but he still nodded his head, quite curious about what you were going to tell him. “Sure,” He said along with the nod.
You leaned a tad bit closer toward Tom and dropped your voice to a whisper. “Sometimes I wish that I didn’t lie to you at the airport by saying I wouldn’t do the same for you, which was basically me saying that I didn't love you. Because I really did love you.”
Your softly spoken words lingered in the air between you and Tom for many moments after they fell from your lips.
If you somehow remembered what you just told him in the morning, the smallest part of you that was sober knew that you would completely regret the confession you made.
However, you were unsure if you’d regret the confession more than the actual lie you had told Tom all those months ago; because that was something that the deepest part of you regretted every day.
• • •
The next time you two would see each other was very uncertain. Tom was getting on a plane to London, which was what led you to drive him to LAX, and it was a flight that you would’ve taken with him if there weren’t some things you needed to handle in Los Angeles for the next week.
You were both pretty good at making set plans on when you would see each other next, especially considering how busy your schedules could always be. But, this time was much different. A photography job was going to be taking you to New Zealand for the next six months, and Tom was going to start filming a new movie in Canada in a couple of weeks. It felt like your lives were moving in two completely different directions.
You had known that fact for a long time, but you loved him so much that you always pushed away all of those doubts and worries that would flood your mind.
The past week was when you finally decided to stop. You couldn’t halt the thoughts that took over your brain, and quite frankly, you didn’t want to. Mainly because of how much sense they made. Both of your respective careers were exponentially growing, with your nature photography becoming more recognized and Tom receiving more acting jobs. And those facts were something that you knew would only continuously draw the two of you farther and farther apart.
“So, I’ll see you soon?” Tom’s questioning words pulled you out of your thoughts, and you turned to look at him as he began gathering his things from your car, knowing that the drop-off point you had to park in front of didn’t allow for too long goodbyes.
You were quiet for a few moments, having absolutely no idea how you wanted to word your next statement. Tom looked over at you with curious and hopeful eyes, and that expression made what you knew you had to say feel a million times harder.
“I don’t know,” You finally said, the words coming out soft and almost too quiet, but Tom was still able to hear them.
His eyebrows furrowed in immediate confusion, and he stopped his actions of attempting to make sure everything was in his carry-on backpack. “What do you mean?”
“Next week I’m going to New Zealand for six months, and you’re going to film in Canada. And then after that, there are probably just gonna be more jobs that will push us further away from each other. Our lives are moving in two completely different directions, Tom.” Your words came out rushed, but that didn’t change how true they were.
“We know how to make things work, though. We just had to do a long period of long-distance a few months ago when I had to be in France for a month, and you were here, and we made it through that,” Tom told you, and there was that hopeful look again, making your heart lurch the longer you looked at him.
You pulled your eyes away from him and turned your attention downward for a brief moment. “Yes, we did, but it was still so hard, and we both knew it. And even then, we at least had a set date when we knew we would see each other again. Right now, we have absolutely no clue, and it’s just going to continue to get harder.”
Tom wanted to rebuttal your statement, but he didn’t know the exact thing to say right then, so instead, he opted for the dreaded question, “So what does that mean for us?”
A beat of silence went by before you answered him with, “I think we both know what that means.”
“Just say it, Y/N,” Tom said, and you could already see the hurt that was brimming behind his features. It made you hate the fact that you'd become able to read him so well. You turned your gaze away from him and instead focused your eyes on the Nevada license plate of the car that was in front of you.
This was it. There was nothing more you could do to tread around the words that had to be said.
“I think it would be best if we broke up.”
Silence prevailed in the small space of your car for what felt like hours but was actually just barely a minute. A car honking from behind you put an end to the quiet, and you finally turned to look at Tom.
“You should go. You’re gonna miss your flight.” The fact that you were still processing the last words that you just said to Tom made your voice sound distant and quiet.
Tom was quick to shake his head. “I don’t care about the flight right now. You can not expect me to give up on us so easily, Y/N.”
You didn’t know what to respond to him with, so instead, you just gave him the smallest shrug.
“I love you. We can figure everything out and make it all work,” Tom told you. “If there are times where I need to give up an acting job to make sure that we’re not away from each other for months at a time, then I’ll do it. I really don’t need to take on every role that is offered to me, and I won’t if that means I don’t have to lose you.”
You knew exactly how true those words were, and that was what scared you. In a heartbeat, Tom would give up any acting job if that meant he would get to spend more time with you, and you would do the exact same for him. However, you knew that that was not a good thing. You had always been someone that thought about things long-term, and you knew that regret would eventually spur from both ends if the two of you continuously did that, and that regret would lead to resentment. That was exactly what you did not want to happen.
Once again, you were quiet, not responding to his words with anything, so Tom took that as his cue to continue on, saying something that almost mimicked your previous thoughts. “I know you’d do the same for me too, Y/N. We love each other so much.”
You did love Tom so much, sometimes maybe even too much. And you also knew that he loved you the same amount too; it was a fact that was easily confirmed from the current pleading look in his eyes. However, as much as it hurt, you knew exactly what you needed to do.
“No,” You said with the slightest shake of your head. You took a shallow breath and disconnected your eyes from Tom’s before you finished off your sentence. “I wouldn’t do the same for you.”
There was no need to look at Tom to gather his reaction to your words because you had a strong feeling what it was. Hurt and heartbreak. And that was something that you really did not want to see.
The sound of a car honking again behind you broke the growing silence again, and Tom took that as his cue to finally exit your car. He said nothing to you as he slung his bookbag over his shoulder, grabbed his suitcase from the backseat, and then headed into the airport.
You had just told him something that was a complete and utter lie, and as much as you wanted to chase after him and tell him that your statement had been just that, you didn’t. As you watched his figure become smaller and smaller as he continued inside the expansive airport, you noticed that he did not turn to look back at you once. That was what let you know that the damage was done.
Your heart hurt like hell right then, a completely self-inflicted wound, but you knew that in the long run, your actions would prove to be the right thing. The pain from it all would ease up eventually.
• • •
Tom had absolutely no idea what to say in response to your confession. He was beyond confused and had no idea if you were even telling the truth; he honestly hoped that you weren’t.
That day at the airport was fucking heartbreaking for him, and if it actually had all been just a lie, he wouldn’t know how to feel.
Before he could utter any type of response to your previous words, your drunken mind moved to a completely different place, disregarding everything that had come out of your mouth less than a minute ago.
“I’m really tired,” You said and stood up from the cross-legged position you were in on the floor so that you could start heading to your hotel room.
Tom wordlessly followed suit, and less than a minute later, the two of you were standing in front of your door. You pulled your key card from your pocket and managed to unlock the door after receiving some help from Tom. Using the card was something that had already been slightly difficult to do sober, so adding your drunkenness to the table did not make it any easier.
When the door was opened, you began to step inside the room, but you stopped when you decided to pull Tom in for a hug. He felt completely awkward and tense at the action, but that was something that you didn’t at all notice due to your inebriated state.
“Goodnight, Tommy,” You said to him once you pulled back from the embrace. The nickname you used to always call him, slipping out way too easily.
“Goodnight, Y/N,” Tom responded, forcing out a small smile. His mind was still completely stuck on your drunk confession, and he knew that he would be thinking about it all night.

Parent ask: [insert half-black and half-yellow circle because my phone doesn't have that emoji] + Jackson Knightly.
((Sidenote: I know you talked about his father, but you barely brought up anything about his mother, who seems very interesting.))
Ahh yes…the doomed love story of Cassandra Knightly and John Eglinton. A rather sad case, indeed…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing to know about Cassandra is that, honestly, her son takes a lot after her, in the sense that she’s an excitable and risk-taking sort who’s prone to impulsiveness and romanticization. (Except she was a Gryffindor, at school.) So much like Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Cassandra ended up finding fascination in the one place her parents and the Wizarding Wirld tried to deter her from: Muggles and their world. She was the young, flighty, female Arthur Weasley of her generation, being totally charmed by Muggle objects and fads and constantly sneaking out to walk among them as if she wasn’t the gorgeous, much-pursued daughter of a wealthy Pureblood family. And on one of those such outings, she was collided with the dashing John Eglinton.
Eglinton was a day-laborer who’d just come to town and taken up a place as the local bar as their newest piano player, and he ended up coming to Cassandra’s “rescue” when she got lost on the bad side of town. Eglinton was immediately taken with the pretty lady and proceeded to put on the charm, which coupled with his slightly rough look and tendencies to grift unsuspecting rich people made for a “bad boy with a heart of gold” kind of image. It didn’t take long for Cassandra to get swept off her feet, and the two had a whirlwind courtship that ended in Jackson’s conception and Cassandra’s subsequent disownment for becoming pregnant out of wedlock with a shady Muggle conman. Jackson was born mere months after their wedding.
The honeymoon period didn’t last long, though; once times got tough, Eglinton became more prone to take his frustrations out on his wife, since them eloping meant that she couldn’t use her family’s wealth to support them. Despite how much the physical and emotional abuse hurt, though, Cassandra was so blinded by love and determine to put a happy face on for her son the way her parents always did for her that she made excuses for Eglinton, latching onto their good times as evidence that “he was really a good person, deep down.” Luckily she was able to covertly help her little family out by secretly mending clothes and growing a garden so they’d always have food to eat with magic.
The two’s relationship fell apart quickly, though, as soon as Jackson’s magic came to light. It happened several years before he was set to start at Hogwarts, since Jackson managed to float right out of a tree back down to the ground right in front of his parents. Seeing Eglinton looking so beyond shocked and thrilled encouraged Cassandra to tell him and Jackson about her magic and his own — and upon hearing everything, Eglinton’s immediate first reaction was —
“This — this is perfect! Don’t you see? This is the answer to all our problems! Your and Jackie’s magic, my showmanship and business savvy — we could make a fortune! Jack Eglinton, master magician, and his family! We’ll be rich enough to lick your folks good and proper — richer than the Queen herself!”
This, however, was finally a step too far for Cassandra. She knew using her magic that way would definitely catch the eye of the Ministry of Magic…and if that happened, not only would she get her wand broken, but she’d probably lose her freedom, her son, and even Eglinton himself, when his memory was erased. The Ministry had plenty of records about her, and once Jackson got his Hogwarts letter and wand, they’d be watched even more closely. Eglinton tried to wheedle Cassandra into giving him what he wanted by proposing Jackson be homeschooled or that they move away, but Cassandra wouldn’t budge. Hogwarts was a fine school — the best magic school, as far as she was concerned — and besides, they didn’t have enough money to move and buy a new house anywhere anyway. Eglinton got very angry and even physically aggressive, but even after the dust settled, Cassandra wouldn’t budge. Putting Jackson or herself in a position where they’d break Wizarding Law was just not something she could do.
And so Eglinton did the unthinkable. He kidnapped nine-year-old Jackson and stole away with him across the ocean, leaving his wife behind.
It took several years before Jackson was rescued from his father (thanks, Adelia @thatravenpuffwitch) and was able to return to his mother in the UK. In that time, poor Cassandra had tried to move past her trauma by throwing herself on the mercy of her family, who fortunately took her and her son back in with open arms. (Cassandra’s father Everard in particular dotes on Jackson quite a bit.) Cassandra has yet to remarry due to how much the affair with Eglinton tarnished her reputation — yet she is still as overly optimistic and slightly childish as ever, always putting a happy face on everything and sometimes coming across as a little ditzy. Even despite this, though, she adores her baby boy Jackson to pieces and is even liberal enough to embrace his other half Montelimar Bloom @cursebreakerfarrier just as much. (Something toxically masculine asshat John Eglinton never would’ve done, if he was still in Jackson’s life.)

Emily swore under her breath as she pushed her way into the motel room, her clothes and hair were absolutely drenched, and she was currently rethinking every single life decision that had led her to where she was now.
Stuck in a motel room.
with only one bed.
with the ONLY person that she’d been trying to avoid getting into any situation with that blurred the lines of professionalism.
“Oh, thank god, we’ve got towels.” Tara sighed in relief, grabbing the ratty towels from the cupboard as Emily shut the door.
She chucked one in Emily’s direction and used the other to squeeze the water from her hair as she made her way over to her go-bag she’d dropped onto the table.
She looked over her shoulder at Emily, who stood frozen, and frowned. “You okay, Prentiss?”
Emily cleared her throat and made to squeeze the water out of her own hair. “Yeah.”
Tara snorted and turned back to the bag. She rested the towel on her shoulder to free up her hands. She unzips the bag and rummages through for a moment before pulling out an old band t-shirt. She turns around and holds it up for Emily to inspect.  “This okay? It’s about all I’ve got.”
“Pardon?” Emily frowned.
“You need something to change into unless you plan on catching hypothermia and considering you didn’t have your go-bag in the SUV, you’re stuck with my clothes.”
Emily struggles to breathe. “Right.” She nods, “Uh, yeah. That’s fine.”
She steps forwards and takes the shirt from Tara. “Thanks, I’m gonna...” She points in the direction of the bathroom and without waiting for a response quickly disappears.
Once the door is shut behind her Emily proceeds to quietly freak the fuck out.
Of course, it was her luck that a storm would hit on their drive back from interviewing a perp at Arizona state prison (who they suspected of being connected to their current case). The rain was so bad Emily could hardly see the road and Tara had suggested stopping for the night and picking back up in the morning when the rain would have hopefully calmed.
Which was a smart idea, but Emily had protested up until the point the car slid and nearly drove off the side of the road.
With anyone else, this situation would be annoying but fine.
But Emily’s heart fluttered stupidly around Tara and she’d taken to telling herself multiple times a day that she was Tara’s boss and that nothing could happen.
It wasn’t helping.
“Suck it up, Prentiss.” She told herself. She’d taken down serial killers; she could handle an inconvenient crush.
Emily stripped out of her clothes, leaving only her underwear on, which thankfully hadn’t been soaked through because honestly, Emily didn’t know how she would have coped if she had had to ask Tara for some. She hung the clothes over the side of the bath to dry and slipped on Tara’s T-shirt.
It was an old Rolling Stones one, and despite her and Tara’s height difference, it barely covered her ass.
“Perfect.” She muttered, and with one last look in the shitty motel mirror, Emily opened the door and stepped back into the bedroom.
And then proceeded to nearly have a stroke.
Because Emily was painfully aware of how attractive Tara was, but she was totally not prepared to see her very long, very beautiful legs. She was wearing a vest top along with short sleep shorts, and it was just a lot of beautiful skin.
“You okay, Prentiss?” Tara asked for the second time that night, with a smirk that Emily desperately wanted to kiss off her face.
“Yeah, I, uh,” Emily scrambled for something to say, “I tried phoning Rossi to let him know what happened but there’s no cell reception.”
“I’m sure they’ll figure it out. We can leave early tomorrow so we can be back at the station for nine.” Tara said as she leant down to grab something from where it rested on the bed.
Emily managed to avert her eyes from Tara’s legs just before the women straightened up and met her gaze. She held out a chocolate bar. “Want this?”
“You have food? You’re a godsend.” Emily praised, happily accepting the bar and chucking her phone onto the bed in the process. They’d been planning on grabbing dinner when they’d gotten back to the hotel, which obviously hadn’t happened. There was no way they were going to be able to order food in this weather and Emily hadn’t eaten since lunchtime.
“Of course, you don’t keep snacks in your go-bag?” Tara’s brows raised in disbelief.
“No, but I will be from now on because that’s genius.”
Tara chuckled. “It’s not a lot. Just that chocolate bar, some trail mix, and a few nutrition bars, but they’re great for emergencies.” Tara’s lips spread into a smirk, her eyes dancing. “And apparently warding off hangry Prentiss’”
Emily scoffed. “I don’t get hangry.”
“Oh, yes you do.” Tara cackled, taking a step closer to her.
“No, I don’t!”
“Sorry, but you do.”
“I do not! Take it back!” Emily ordered, stepping forward to jab a finger at Tara.
“It’s okay Prentiss, a lot of people do.” Tara’s voice lowered, that irritating smirk still painting her lips.
“Yeah, well I’m not a lot of people!” Emily rebutted and knew her face was heating up from her proximity to Tara.
Their breath was practically mingling, and Emily desperately needed to step away. To end whatever this was.
“Oh, I’m very much aware,” Tara said in a way that couldn’t be misconstrued as anything other than flirting. Her eyes dropped to Emily’s lips as her fingers brushed her chin, angling Emily’s head upwards, bringing her mouth dangerously close to hers.
Emily couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, couldn’t do anything but stare deeply into Tara’s eyes. They twinkled but there was a softness behind them, her grip was gentle on Emily’s chin giving her plenty of chance to pull away, but Emily couldn’t remember any of the reasons she should.
So, instead, she nudged her head forward and met Tara’s lips.
And Tara kissed just like she did everything else, with precision, care, and passion. Emily’s hands threaded through Tara’s hair as Tara’s hands ran down her back.
The first sweep of Tara’s tongue had Emily whimpering. Even if she was thinking clearly, she wouldn’t have been able to name a single person who’d even turned her into putty this quickly.
Emily kissed back with everything she had, fighting Tara’s tongue for dominance as they stumbled back towards the bed.
They both breathed heavily as they separated, Tara sat down on the bed and tugged Emily into her lap. Her hands ran down Emily’s side, settling on her hips. Tara stared at her with soft eyes and swollen lips and Emily thought she was the most beautiful thing in the whole world.
But as she stared at Tara her mind began to clear and the full reality of what Emily had just done hit her like a ton of bricks.
“Oh god.”  Emily gasped, eyes widening in horror. “Shit. No. Fuck. Oh god.” She scrambled out of Tara’s lap and off the bed, moving to the other side of the room to put as much space between them as possible.
“We can’t- I shouldn’t have- I-” Emily blew out a breath as she struggled to find what to say. Tara just stared at her confusion and hurt shining in her eyes.
“I’m your boss.” Emily settled on, looking at Tara with desperate eyes. “We can’t do that. We can’t be...” It hurt more than it should have. She could feel her heart cracking.
Tara stood up and approached Emily. “It’ll be okay. There are plenty of agents that have dated while being on the same team.”
Emily shook her head, “I’m your boss. It’s different. There are rules in place for a reason-”
Tara scoffed, “Yeah because of Rossi.” She tried to reach for Emily’s hand, but Emily just swatted her away. “Really, Em?” Her eyes flashed with hurt. “Look, I understand it’s not an ideal situation but are you telling me that you’re just going to be able to forget about what just happened?”
“It doesn’t matter. We’re both professionals. We don’t need to make a big deal out of this.” Emily said mostly to herself. Trying to convince herself that she hadn’t just fucked things up.
“Right. Fine.” Tara muttered, not able to hide the way it hurt. She shook her head and made to step away, but Emily’s hand flew out to stop her.
“Wait.” She waited until Tara met her eyes before releasing her wrist. “I’m sorry. I didn’t want to hurt or upset you. I shouldn’t have let myself get sucked in. I should have stepped away instead of kissing you.”
Emily wanted to make this better, to get that sad look off of Tara’s face.
Tara sighed, “It’s fine, Emily. Let’s just eat and then go to bed. It’s late and I’m tired.”
It was barely 8 o’clock but Emily didn’t want to argue so instead she nodded her head.
The tension when they ate made Emily want to scream. They spoke strictly about the team, keeping the conversation light, and steadily avoiding brushing hands as they shared the bag of trail mix. It was more exhausting than the whole of Emily’s week combined.
By the time she crawled into bed, Emily was ready to hide under the covers and not come out for at least a week. She hated to think of what the next girls’ night would be like...
Tara turned the lights off, plunging the room into darkness before sliding into the bed. “Night.” She murmured.
“Goodnight.”
Emily rolled onto her side, facing away from the other women and tried to fall asleep.
The silence lasted for barely fifteen minutes before Tara sat back up, turned the lamp on and said, “You know what, It’s not fine.”
Emily rolled back over and sat up, wincing at the frustration in Tara’s face.
“You feel something too, right? This wasn’t just about sex. There’s something between us and I don’t want to ignore it just because of some bullshit fraternisation rules that only exist because Rossi is incapable of keeping it in his pants.”
“There are rules for a reason. What if something was to happen in the field, I wouldn’t be able to be objective. If I had to discipline you for a reason it would fuck with our relationship, and plus it would mess with your career if people knew you were sleeping with the boss.” Emily closed her eyes, blowing out a breath before looking at Tara with a pained smile. “I feel it too, okay? I-”
“Then stop fighting it,” Tara ordered. “I don’t care about any of that. We’ll make it work because I really like you Emily and I’m so tired of pretending I don’t.”
Emily’s body melted. Tara reached out and caressed her cheek causing Emily’s eyes to flutter close as she leaned into the contact.
“Let’s just give us a chance,” Tara whispered.
Emily opened her eyes, looking at Tara with adoration and love...because that’s what it was. It wasn’t an inconvenient crush or simple infatuation; Emily had fallen in love with Tara and there was no way of fighting that without breaking her own heart and possibly Tara’s in the process.
Emily steeled herself with a deep breath. “Okay.”
Tara’s eyes lit up in delight and Emily found the sight adorable.
“But we have to stay professional at work.”
“Yes, boss.” Tara teased before leaning in and meeting Emily in a soft kiss.
Emily hummed against her lips, “You’re gonna be the end of me, Tara Lewis.”
Tara chuckled, “Not if I can help it.”
She leaned back in and met Emily’s lips. After a few minutes, Emily groaned causing Tara to pull away with an amused look. “What?”
“I’m just imagining the teasing I’m going to receive from Rossi and JJ when they find out.”
“Well, let’s not think about that now.” She kissed Emily again.
“Yeah, you got a better idea?” Emily hummed in between kisses.
“I’ve got a few.”
Emily slid her hand up to Tara’s neck, dragging her in close and kissing the smirk off her face. Tara mewed and Emily just kissed her deeper, dragging her body down to hers and letting the rest of the world fade away as she focused solely on the beautiful woman on top of her.

Tedious Joys - Chapter 4 -
- Ao3 link -
It had been an inauspicious year to begin with.
A poor harvest led to famine among the common people, which in turn created conditions ripe for evil creatures of all sorts; the night-hunts that were often treated as playful competition by the cultivation world became more like the boring drudgery of everyday work, disciples setting off in packs on a regular basis all over, time and time again. The tension wore on the sects, some more than others, and dozens of small disputes began to rise up, needing to be dealt with. Lan Qiren’s schedule became busy, and then busier, and then became overwhelming; he was forced to discard one pastime after another in his efforts to hold back the rising tide, and in the end sacrificed sleep and sometimes meals to preserve only two: playing for Jiwei and spending time with his nephews.
It meant that he was unprepared, both mentally and physically, for word of the death of Cangse Sanren and her husband, which took over two years to finally come to ears of the Great Sects – such a shocking failure of information that Lan Qiren briefly wondered if it had been concealed intentionally.
The sudden shock of grief hit him hard.
He tried to convince himself that he had expected it, that she had expected it, that at least her son was now safe in the Lotus Pier, and yet all he could think about was that he had one less friend in the world. The sadness interfered with his focus, creeping in at all hours, uncontrollable, until one evening he was playing guqin with his nephews and looked up to find them both weeping uncontrollably from the music he was playing. When he tried to stop mid-song, he abruptly collapsed, and upon waking was informed that he had become feverish at some point in the night.
His sect doctors advised him to go into seclusion until he could control himself.
Lan Qiren refused.
They advised him again, this time with greater insistence, and with the support of his sect elders.
“Tell them to fuck off,” Lao Nie suggested, pouring a calming tea that he’d brought from Qinghe.
He’d come to visit with his sons, Nie Mingjue disappearing with Lan Xichen as always and Nie Huaisang engaged in the newest stage in his eternal battle of wills with Lan Wangji over a game of weiqi that they were both taking far, far too seriously.
(Despite knowing Lan Wangji and indeed Nie Huaisang better than most people alive, Lan Qiren honestly could not determine whether the two of them despised each other or were close friends. Lao Nie claimed the answer was both, simultaneously, but Lan Qiren didn’t understand that at all.)
“That is not how we do things here,” Lan Qiren said, accepting a cup. It was rude for him to allow a fellow sect leader who was his guest to serve him, rather than the other way around, but he had a headache from the persistent fever and exhaustion that was even more persistent, the boundless river of grief in his heart translating into physical agony, and anyway Lao Nie hadn’t exactly asked permission before proceeding. “It would be more appropriate for me to present a well-reasoned case for it not being necessary, based on rules, authority, and precedent.”
“Except you can’t put one together because you’re upset and tired,” Lao Nie said with a snort. “That’s stupid. You’re overworked, stretched too thin, you just found out that your friend is dead – you need sleep, not seclusion. Anyway, what happens if you do go into seclusion? Aren’t they always saying they need you to stick around to be Sect Leader so desperately?”
Lan Qiren rubbed his eyes. “It would not be true seclusion. I would be expected to continue certain parts of the work.”
“You’re joking.”
“It would be primarily administrative correspondence –”
“By that token, your brother ought to do it!”
Lan Qiren glared. “It’s not the same and you know it. And they are not wrong that I need rest.”
“From what I recall of what you’ve told me about your sect’s practice of seclusion, that’s not rest,” Lao Nie said acidly. “Surely there’s something I can do to help. I could send over some of my disciples…”
“Excellent idea,” Lan Qiren said, rolling his eyes. “We can replace all those rumors that I’ve been secretly pining for years over my best female friend with ones regarding my best male friend.”
“It is a little ‘hero rushes to save the lady’, isn’t it?” Lao Nie said thoughtfully, shaking his head in amusement. “But seriously, I came here for a reason, and it’s not Jiwei or A-Jue or anything like that. You’re always trying to help me, Qiren. For once, let me help you.”
Lan Qiren would normally protest this – because Lao Nie had so done many things for him over the years that it was an incorrect statement, because he hated the helpless feeling of letting someone do things for him, because that wasn’t something sect leaders did for each other – but he was tired and he feared seclusion and sometimes he thought it might be nice to do one thing that could be considered a little reckless before he died.
“Very well,” he said, closing his eyes and drinking the tea. “Do as you like.”
That was a dangerous thing to say to someone like Lao Nie, who promptly pulled three dozen Nie sect disciples from out of nowhere and sent them scurrying around hunting down evil with the energetic enthusiasm of youth entrusted with gigantic sabers and the freedom to use them as they would, while he himself settled in very happily in Lan Qiren’s home, sleeping on a guest bed, keeping away unwanted visitors and helping with any paperwork that didn’t explicitly require a Lan. He also recruited Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen to assist, despite Lan Qiren’s protests that bureaucratic busywork was not an appropriate way for boys of approximately fifteen and definitely twelve, respectively, to spend their time; both of them very solemnly assured Lan Qiren that they were more than happy to do whatever they could.
Even little Lan Wangji and Nie Huaisang bullied their way into being involved, insisting that they wanted to do it more than they wanted to train or play, although at their ages there really wasn’t much they could do besides grind ink and run messages to the relevant recipients.
As Lan Qiren might have expected, rumors immediately started about some sort of torrid affair – life would be so much easier if everyone obeyed the rules against gossiping purposelessly – and they even got to the point that several of the sect elders cautiously hinted to him that although cutsleeve relationships were far from being in vogue, they had at no point been explicitly forbidden by the rules, and cited several provisions which seemed to favor such things.
Lan Qiren had thanked them for the reminder and caustically commented that he would be sure to incorporate that into his next set of lectures as he could see no other reason for them to mention it, and soon enough they backed off, shaking their heads. Still, those busybodies that had his best interests in mind were still preferable to the ones that started once more raising the idea of finding him a nice bride of suitable age – by suitable age, they meant too old for children, lest he get any idea of challenging his brother’s line of descent – before he did anything foolish like fall in love, or, worse, to act on it.
Obviously he had no intentions of permitting that.
Still, after a month of enforced rest, Lan Qiren was feeling a bit more himself. He took on more and more of the work, albeit supervised by five sets of judging eyes, and even began to play once more, this time without bringing anyone to tears. Jiwei and Xinfei rested together by the door in comfortable equilibrium, hot and cold, weak and powerful, and the jade pendant that Lan Qiren carried with him remained cool to the touch, not hot at all.
“You will need to go soon,” he told Lao Nie, who shrugged, not denying it – a month was a long time for a sect leader to be away from home absent some valid excuse like a war, not quite too long but starting to push it. No matter how effective one’s deputies were nor how much work one did from a distance, a sect leader was still necessary, in the end, or else Lan Qiren’s life would have been very different.
“Next week,” he said. “That’ll give me just enough time to take the boys home before heading back out again for the conference in Qishan.”
“There’s a conference? I wasn’t informed.”
“No, you weren’t, because I didn’t inform you,” Lao Nie said, utterly shameless. “You’re going to stay here and rest. It’s just a stupid party.”
“That doesn’t matter if it is also a stupid party which everyone else is attending,” Lan Qiren said sternly.
“Jiang Fengmian isn’t going, either,” Lao Nie said. “Doesn’t want to leave his new ward alone just yet…newest rumor has it that Wei Wuxian’s his bastard with Cangse Sanren.”
Lan Qiren shut his eyes. “Of course. Wasn’t I the one having the affair with her last week?”
“Perhaps it was a love triangle?”
“A square, at minimum. Don’t forget she had a husband.”
“A pyramid!”
“Lao Nie…”
Lao Nie laughed. “Jin Guangshan isn’t making it, either. His wife’s giving birth – predictions say to a daughter, I think, assuming this one survives the birth – and all accounts say that she’s threatened to cut his balls off if he even thinks of leaving Lanling City. So, you see, it really is just a stupid party, and by missing it you’ll be doing just the same thing as all the other Great Sects.”
Lan Qiren felt a sudden stab of misgiving. “Except you.”
“Except me,” Lao Nie said cheerfully. “Me and Hanhan.”
Lan Qiren truly did not want to know what went on in Lao Nie’s mind sometimes.
“Why don’t you refrain from going as well?” he asked, aware he sounded tetchy and irritable like some jealous wife in an opera. “If no one else is going.”
“Oh, I have to go. A-Han asked for me specifically,” Lao Nie said, and Lan Qiren thought to himself oh I’m certain he did, then promptly felt bad about doing so. Sneering for no reason was prohibited. “Someone’s gifted him with some magnificent saber for his collection, apparently, and he was boasting that it was the best there was right up until someone stuck their nose in it and said that it was all well and good but no comparison to my Jiwei.”
Lan Qiren could imagine exactly how well a statement like that had gone over with Wen Ruohan.
“And now he’s demanding you show up and produce evidence?” he asked, unimpressed.
Lao Nie grinned. “Ah, Qiren, it’s almost like you’ve met the man before.”
“You shouldn’t encourage him,” Lan Qiren said. “Why should you go just because he asked? He’s your equal, not your master.”
“There’s no harm in giving him some face.”
Lan Qiren could think of several ways that it could lead to harm, the inflation of Wen Ruohan’s already bloated ego being not the least of them, but Lao Nie was his equal as well, his equal and his elder. If the man had made up his mind, as it clearly appeared that he had, there was nothing Lan Qiren could say that would change it.
“Good luck, then,” he said, shaking his head, and called the boys to come in for dinner. As usual, the Lan half of the table remained mute while the Nie half did nothing but chatter, each according to their own family custom. It was a test of wills and endurance – Lan Wangji’s eye kept twitching every time Nie Huaisang filled in words for him, possibly due to the extremely high pitch Nie Huaisang chose to represent him – but it was a joy to share the time with them nonetheless.
Before Lao Nie left, Lan Qiren tried, not for the first time, to press the jade pendant that resonated with Jiwei into his hand. “You should take it with you,” he insisted. “Especially if you’re going to the Nightless City to exhibit your saber – there’s a great deal of resentful energy there, and you know that always gets Jiwei’s bloodlust up.”
“Which in turn will sharpen my reflexes, just when I need them most,” Lao Nie said, pressing the jade pendant right back into Lan Qiren’s hand. “Better you have it.”
“Lao Nie…”
“Jiwei likes you now,” Lao Nie said, as if that mattered. “She’s been just as avid to protect you as I’ve been, this past month – if I didn’t need her by my side, I’d almost be tempted to leave her here with you.”
Lan Qiren arched his eyebrows. “Are you suggesting that I can’t protect myself? Here? In the Cloud Recesses?”
“Saber spirits are not smart, Qiren. But even she can tell that you’re not well yet.”
Lan Qiren waved a hand dismissively. “Well enough,” he said, and it was even true – the grief was still there, of course, and likely would be every time he thought of Cangse Sanren in the near future, excluding maybe the few times when it was one of his students that resembled her only in terms of how much mischief she would get up to, but it was no longer drowning him. He had hope that, in time, this wound would also scab over and the hurt fade, and that at that time he could once again think of her with nothing but joy.
Lao Nie huffed. “Well enough isn’t well,” he grumbled, but that didn’t stop him from gathering his children and his disciples and heading out back towards Qinghe. “Take care of yourself, Qiren! Be well!”
“And you,” Lan Qiren said. “Keep out of trouble, my friend.”
From what he later heard, the party at the Nightless City went about as anyone with half a brain might have expected: Wen Ruohan swanned around until Lao Nie showed up, there were tense words exchanged, and then Lao Nie produced Jiwei, allowing Wen Ruohan to examine her and even pat her a few times before the Wen sect leader was forced, with great reluctance and through gritted teeth, to admit her superiority to the saber he had received.
The stories ended there, but Lan Qiren had enough imagination to fill in how the rest of the night might have gone, especially with the only sect leaders there being Lao Nie and Wen Ruohan. He sincerely hoped that Lao Nie had remembered all those lectures he’d given him about the foolishness of lying in the same bed as poisonous snakes, no matter how beautiful they might be on the surface.
Perhaps he had, perhaps he hadn’t.
Either way, Lan Qiren heard nothing else until the day he interrupted his own afternoon lecture with a sudden cry of intense pain – the jade pendant had abruptly gone so hot that it had burned, and although his clothing, protected by stitched-in incantations, was unharmed, the heat was so severe that it had nevertheless left a mark on his thigh through all those layers.
Clutching at his leg, Lan Qiren ordered his students to run to fetch him cold water and a doctor, and wondered what in the world had happened.
A letter, he decided. He would write Lao Nie a letter to ask.

Well…  Shoto thought to himself, looking down at the pile of clothes on the pavement. This is a surprise.
He honestly had no idea what had happened. One minute, him and Midoriya were walking down the street towards Yuuei with their groceries, the next, a small child had barrelled past them, knocking Midoriya's arm as she went. Initially, his friend had insisted that he was fine, but the moment the culprit had turned down the next street, he had vanished, his clothes and bag unceremoniously clattering to the floor.
Shoto had been - understandably, he thought - alarmed by the development. After all, it wasn't every day one's best friend and crush disappeared, leaving nothing but a pile of clothes behind. Shoto was entirely ready to sprint after the children and shake them for information, when suddenly something moved under the pile, informing him that his friend was indeed still alive, just struggling to get free.
 'Midoriya?'
Shoto knelt down and tried to untangle the clothes so whatever was underneath could escape. What he wasn't expecting was to come face to face with a fluffy Havana rabbit in place of his friend.
 'Oh.'
Wide, verdant eyes with dilated pupils stared up at him questioningly and Shoto felt himself blush at the sight. He knew those eyes better than his own.
  Yes… Definitely Midoriya.
Just when he thought his best friend couldn't get any cuter, he had to go and turn into the most adorable rabbit in the world.
His ears were upright, albeit a tiny bit shorter than average, his nose was pink as it moved around, sniffing the air, and his coat was ebony with an emerald shine, except for his paws, which were white and messy.
  It's like he's wearing socks...
 Shoto shook himself.
Fawn over your best friend later, fool. You've got a job to do.
'Midoriya, blink twice if you can understand me?'
Those big eyes continued to watch him intently, before blinking twice in confirmation.
'Good.' That made things a lot easier. 'Now, are you hurt? Blink once for no, twice for yes.'
Midoriya blinked once, much to his relief. Then, he let out an adorable sneeze that went straight to Shoto's heart.
  So cute.
'Okay, I'm going to pick up your clothes and bags so I can take us back to the dorms. Am I okay to carry you?'
Midoriya nodded and Shoto could've sworn his friend was smiling. He tried not to dwell on it though and got to work. He shoved Midoriya's clothes into one of the fallen carrier bags, before picking them up and transferring them to one hand. The weight was fine, but the straps bit into his fingers harshly - it was going to be a painful walk back.
Midoriya must've sensed his distress though, because the moment Shoto scooped him up against his chest, his friend hopped up and took his place on Shoto's shoulder. When he turned to look at him, confused, Midoriya nuzzled his nose against his cheek to assure him that he was fine.
It took every ounce of self-control for Shoto not to set them both on fire with his quirk.
'Okay, Midoriya. I'll allow it.' He spoke evenly, despite his friend still rubbing against him. 'But if you fall, I'm going to be very upset. I will cry, don't test me.'
The rabbit squeaked at that and made sure to shuffle a little closer, until he was nestled near the crook of Shoto’s neck.
Distributing the carrier bags into both hands to distract him from the proximity, Shoto then set off down the street.
Somehow, the walk back wasn't as uncomfortable as he thought it would be. Sure, some people sent him confused looks, while others straight up muttered about how he was a careless owner for letting Midoriya perch on his shoulder, but Shoto found that being in Midoriya's presence helped him feel less agitated. After all, Midoriya always had a talent for calming Shoto down when he let his anger get the better of him.
Soft fur brushed against his face and Shoto sighed, content, before deciding that he should probably say something.
 'How are you feeling?'
 Silence.
When Midoriya tilted his head to the side, he realised his mistake. 'Oh yeah. Er, blink once for good, twice for okay, three for sad, four for other.'
He didn't appreciate how easy it was for Midoriya to look so amused as he blinked twice. Before Shoto could ask though, Midoriya settled back near his neck and purred.
I didn't know rabbits could purr.
Shoto exhaled carefully to control himself and quickly decided to continue the rest of their journey in silence, lest he embarrass himself further.
 🐇🐇
'Why is it, when something happens, it is always you two.' Aizawa leant against his desk and pinched his brow.
'For the record, Sensei,' Shoto raised a finger. 'I understood that reference and think that the current circumstances are a lot different.'
'Answer the question, Todoroki.' Aizawa glared at him. 'Why is Midoriya a rabbit?'
Shoto sighed heavily and proceeded to explain what had happened. He informed his teacher that there was no foul play - it was merely an accident - and that Midoriya wasn't hurt. Aizawa nodded at set intervals and when Shoto eventually fell silent, he pushed himself away from his desk and looked down at them.
'It wouldn't be logical to punish you for this.' He began bluntly. 'But in the future, I will be more stringent with your liberties to leave school grounds alone.'
He then looked down at the small rabbit, sitting by Shoto's leg. 'Midoriya, you have to go see Recovery Girl in case there are any health concerns we need to be aware of. I will take you. Todoroki, go back to the dorms and keep this to yourself for now.'
 'Yes, Sensei.'
Before he could turn around though, Midoriya suddenly nuzzled against his leg in an effort to make him stay.
Shoto looked down questioningly to find wide eyes staring up at him, filled with emotion. Unable to simply walk away from such an expression, he crouched down to stroke his chin.
'It's okay, Midoriya. I won’t be gone for long.'
As it turned out, it was not okay.
The moment Aizawa bent down to pick him up, Midoriya went feral. He jumped into the air to escape his teacher's incoming hands and landed a metre to his left.
'Problem child.' Aizawa warned, before trying again. However, Midoriya repeated the action, then bounced in a zigzag motion to evade capture. When he came to a stop, Shoto noticed the look of defiance on his face - if that were even possible.
Aizawa grumbled and fingered his capture weapon. 'Don't make me use this.'
Midoriya frowned before hopping to hide behind the desk. Their teacher followed him, muttering something about how 'you little gremlins never make it easy for me.'
Shoto stood, gawking as the two circled the desk comically. Eventually, Aizawa reached his breaking point and raised his capture weapon.
 However, Midoriya was ready.
Shoto watched in awe as emerald and scarlet lightning came to life with the activation of his quirk. Sparks danced around his friend's small form as he leapt into the air to avoid the scarf. With practiced ease, he bounced off the walls around them - his style similar to his human form - before he eventually landed behind him. Shoto looked down to find Midoriya hiding behind his leg and glaring up at their teacher.
'Midoriya.' Aizawa almost growled, crimson eyes flashing dangerously. The moment his erasure activated, the shining light vanished from around the rabbit. 'Come here, now.'
 Thump.
 Shoto stared, bemused.
'Are you serious?' Aizawa raised an eyebrow.
 Another thump.
'Don't you thump your foot at me, kiddo.' Their teacher snapped, albeit Shoto could tell the action had mellowed his anger. In any other situation, he might've smiled at the way pro-hero Eraserhead attempted to lecture a rabbit.
Now though, he had to play the peacemaker.
'Midoriya.' Shoto spoke gently. Angry eyes softened when they landed on him. 'If I stay with you, will you go to Recovery Girl? You can ride on my shoulder again?'
His friend considered this offer, before nodding once.
'Unbelievable.' Aizawa waved his hand, exasperated. 'You two will be the death of me.'
Shoto considered his teacher, before bending down to pick Midoriya up with ease. When he got settled on his shoulder, the two followed Aizawa out of the room.
As they walked down the corridor, he heard his teacher mutter, 'I swear, if you pull this shit again, I'll set Sushi on you.'
 'Who's Sushi?' Shoto asked.
 'None of your business.'
 🐇🐇
One thing Shoto quickly came to release, as he dutifully accepted his role as caregiver, was that Midoriya was a lot more clingy than usual.
He couldn't tell whether it was a side effect of the quirk or whether his friend was simply taking advantage of his adorableness and being affectionate because he knew no one would be able to deny him cuddles. Either way, Shoto didn't mind. He liked hugging Midoriya as much as he enjoyed receiving them.
He especially didn't mind that Midoriya seemed to be the most affectionate with him, as he watched his peers slowly come to terms with their classmate's temporary form.
'He's so tiny!' Ashido gushed, as Yaoyorozu stroked Midoriya, who looked rather content in her lap. 'I just wanna squeeze his cheeks and eat him all up!
 Midoriya squeaked at that.
'Stop scaring him, Ashido-san!' Yaoyorozu gasped, before scratching behind his ears to calm him.
'He knows I'm only joking.' She waved her off. 'We all know Bakugou's the one who likes rabbit stew anyway-'
'Ashido.' Shoto warned, as he strode towards where Yaoyorozu was sitting. He noticed how Midoriya trembled at the mention of Bakugou's name and immediately bent down, opening his arms. 'It's okay. He's not gonna hurt you. You want a hug?'
Nodding quickly, Midoriya jumped out of Yaoyorozu's lap, trusting Shoto to catch him in his arms and bring him close to his chest. Shoto cradled the back of his small head, stroking pointed ears as his other hand supported his fluffy butt. He tried to ignore the fact that he was technically groping his crush, but he couldn't hide his blush, especially when Midoriya reached up to lick his neck.
'That's so cute!' Hagakure exclaimed, shaking Ashido by the shoulders while the rest of the girls cooed at the display. 'I've never seen Todoroki-kun so affectionate!'
'Look at Deku-kun's little tongue, I'm dying!' Uraraka squealed with excitement as she bounced on the balls of her feet. 'Catch me, Iida-kun. I might swoon.'
'Urarak-ah!' The class president yelped as she dramatically fell into his arms. 'I told you to stay hydrated!'
'I'm just being dramatic, jeez!' Uraraka pouted, flopping against Iida.
Shoto raised an eyebrow at his friends' antics, before turning his attention back to Midoriya, who was nibbling at his shirt. He smiled softly at the action and stroked one of his ears.
'You're not allowed to eat my clothes, Midoriya.' He playfully scolded.
Then a thought occurred to him.
'Hey, Iida.' He spoke softly, not taking his gaze away from Midoriya, who stared up at him with big eyes. 'I need to fetch some food for Midoriya. He hasn't eaten all day, so could you look after him for me?'
Uraraka fell to the floor with a shriek and in seconds, Iida was in front of them.
'It would be my pleasure to look after Midoriya-kun!' He announced, before his voice suddenly dropped and he rubbed the back of his neck. 'In fact, I was actually hoping I would get the chance to hold him, but I did not want to presume that I had that privilege!'
'What do you think, Midoriya?' Shoto tilted his head to the side. 'Can Iida hold you?'
His friend nuzzled against him softly, before eventually nodding. He turned to the class president and Shoto lifted him up under the arms to hand to Iida, whose eyes were wide and nervous.
When Midoriya got settled, Shoto then stepped back, lip twitching slightly. 'What do you want? Rabbits like carrots, right?'
Midoriya stuck his tongue out and made a gagging noise, which Shoto found oddly amusing.
'Midoriya-kun!' Iida went to gesticulate, but quickly realised both his hands were occupied. 'It is important to get the right nutrition, especially given the fact that you are under the effect of a quirk!'
'It's okay, Iida.' Shoto narrowed his eyes at the rabbit. 'I know Midoriya won't say no to spinach.'
Little ears pointed upwards and his nose twitched with interest. Shoto's heart skipped a beat. 'I'll take that as a yes.'
In a moment of boldness, he then raised a finger and booped Midoriya's damp nose, before turning and heading to the kitchen.
When he arrived, he took some spinach from the fridge and rinsed it under the tap, then reached for Midoriya's favourite All Might bowl. Fully armed with his food, Shoto then looked over his shoulder and raised an eyebrow at Iida, who was trying not to hand chop Midoriya as he stroked him. Keeping his face neutral, lest he betray his amusement, he then made his way towards one of the more quiet members of his class, who was mixing some honey into his cup of tea.
'Koda, can I ask you something?' He mumbled, watching his classmate jump slightly at having been addressed.
When he realised Shoto was actually talking to him, Koda nodded, tilting his head to the side in question.
'Can you use your quirk on Midoriya?' Shoto scratched his cheek. 'Earlier, when I asked him if he was okay, he indicated that he was, but I want to be sure. I- I'm worried about him.'
Koda looked at him, knowingly - Shoto wasn't quite sure how to feel about that - then nodded softly and walked over to Midoriya. His classmate whispered something into a large ear and Shoto waited for the result.
Midoriya ground his teeth together as he seemed to reply, before his eyes met Shoto's own, a warmth in them that was oddly familiar and relaxing. He was so enraptured by them, he didn't notice that Koda had returned to his side until he flashed a thumbs up.
'Midoriya-san's okay.' He spoke in a high voice, slightly amused. 'He was slightly overwhelmed at first, because the quirk seems to make him act more on instinct, but now that he’s accepted that, he told me he's liking all the hugs and pets! He feels rather tall on your shoulder too. And er…'
 'Yes?'
'Er…' Koda grinned bashfully. 'Midoriya-san also said that "with Todoroki-kun fussing over me, I've never been better, so please tell him he doesn't need to worry about me".'
Shoto flushed at that, but before he could fruitlessly try to defend himself, the door to the common room slammed open.
 'DEKU!'
Shoto rolled his eyes and turned to find Bakugou storming into the room, making a beeline for Midoriya, who had frozen in Iida's arms. 'Is it true you're so pathetic you let a kid use their quirk on you?'
He came to a stop and stared at the rabbit, before he burst out laughing. 'Ha! Look at you! You really are pathetic!'
'Bakugou-kun!' Iida exclaimed. 'Please refrain from calling Midoriya such names!'
'Shut up, four eyes!' He growled. 'I'm just speaking the truth!'
Shoto placed his bowl of spinach on the counter and made his way over. Everyone was used to Bakugou's aggressive nature - whether they liked it or not - but that just fuelled Shoto’s need to protect Midoriya even more, especially in this state.
'No one wants you here, Bakugou.' He spoke firmly. 'If you're just going to run your mouth, you can do it somewhere else, where you won't use my best friend as your verbal punching bag.'
'Don't fucking tell me what to do, Half n Half!' He growled, baring his teeth at Shoto. 'Like I give a shit what you extras want!'
'You're making Midoriya-san uncomfortable.' Yaoyorozu stood up then, fists clenched. 'Bakugou-san I must insist you stop. He's had a rough enough day as it is.'
'Do I look like I care?'
'No, but you should.' Shoto crossed his arms over his chest and looked at him, coolly. 'He may look helpless, but that right there is a ruthless killing machine.'
'Fuck off, Half n Half. Like Deku could do anything to me.' He stuck his finger out to poke Midoriya. 'What are you gonna do? Eat a carro- AGH! YOU BASTARD!'
Shoto couldn't hide his smile when Midoriya bit Bakugou's finger in retaliation, a look of defiance on his face. His classmate reeled back, clutching his bloody hand, before he lunged for Midoriya. However, the latter was faster and leapt out of Iida's arms just as Bakugou crashed into the class rep and the two clattered to the floor with a shriek.
Green lightning coursed through Midoriya as he flew through the air towards Shoto, who instinctively opened his arms to catch him.
The moment he felt soft fur against him, Shoto took action, wrapping his arms around Midoriya and holding him close as his friend scrambled to burrow his head in the crook of Shoto's neck, trusting him to protect him.
Bakugou snarled as he wrestled himself off Iida and onto his feet. Before he could continue his attack though, Shoto raised his right arm and pointed it at him.
'You brought that on yourself, Bakugou.' His voice was even. 'Now back off. I'm not letting you anywhere near him.'
'Ha! Don't make me laugh.' Bakugou spat, tiny explosions popping from his hands.
Shoto noticed the way Midoriya pressed closer, sensitive to the loud noises as his damp nose wet his neck, and frowned. Lowering his temperature, he prepared to attack, when suddenly the door slammed open.
'I AM HERE TO SEE MIDORIYA-SHOUNEN!' All Might burst into the room, his muscled body flexing before he reverted back to his true form with a puff of smoke. Shoto watched, mildly concerned, as his teacher hacked up an inordinate amount of blood into a tissue.
When All Might eventually cleared his face and pocketed the tissue, he smiled sheepishly at the class. However, when he noticed Bakugou's fighting stance, Shoto's frost and Iida's mid-air hand chop, he frowned.
 'Am I interrupting something?'
'It's all under control, Sensei!' Yaoyorozu stepped between Shoto and Bakugou and clasped her hands together. 'Bakugou was just going to see Recovery Girl about his finger.'
 'The fu-'
'Really?' All Might raised an eyebrow. 'What happened?'
'That vermin bit me, so I'm gonna make him regret-'
'You invaded Midoriya-kun's personal space!' Iida frantically shouted. 'The consequences are justified.'
'Four-eyes, I swear to fuck, I'll end you!'
'Language, Bakugou-shounen.' All Might raised a finger. 'I'll deal with Midoriya-shounen, but right now, you need to go to the infirmary.'
Bakugou glared at his teacher and, for a moment, Shoto thought he'd refuse, when finally, the blonde tsked and turned away.
'Fucking rodent's probably gonna give me rabies.' He muttered as he stalked out of the room. When he was out of earshot, Shoto tilted his head to the side.
'How would we be able to tell the difference if he did have rabies?'
It was a genuine question, yet when everyone around him laughed - including a vibrating Midoriya - Shoto allowed himself a small smile.
 🐇🐇
Shortly after Bakugou departed, All Might took the opportunity to take Midoriya outside for a quick word. Shoto wasn’t entirely sure how many words were going to be exchanged during their conversation, seen as Midoriya couldn’t exactly talk, but he trusted the former number one hero to figure it out.
So, while he waited for his friend to return, Shoto wandered back to the kitchen, grabbed his food for Midoriya and took a moment to simply relax. As much as he loved spending time with his friends, all this socialising was starting to become rather overwhelming, so it was nice to finally have a quiet moment to himself, now that his classmates weren’t hounding him for information about Midoriya’s current state.
He managed ten minutes of pure Shoto-time, before he heard a cackle from the living room and the chaos began once more.
Preparing himself for worst, Shoto turned around, only to come face to face with verdant eyes, mere inches from his face. Shoto’s own eyes widened and he stepped back in shock, watching as a black and green rabbit floated lazily in the air.
 ‘Midoriya?’
His friend nodded to him in greeting, indifferent to the way his back legs rose higher as he began to rotate. His ears flopped against gravity as he turned upside down, nose twitching as he eyed the spinach in Shoto's hand.
Unable to look away, he fumbled to grab a leaf and brought it to Midoriya's mouth. His friend eagerly nibbled at it and in seconds it was gone.
Shoto watched, blinking dumbly, before he shook his head and finally found his voice.
'Uraraka, why is Midoriya floating?' He spoke calmly, raising his arm and poking soft fur so that his friend was upright once more. ‘Where’s All Might?’
‘He had to leave to make a phone call.’ Uraraka shrugged, then she watched as Midoriya continued floating across the room and grinned. ‘As for Deku-kun, he said he missed being tall, so I said I’d help him out.’
‘You speak rabbit now?’ He raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.
‘Miruko-san taught me a little, yeah!’ She crossed her arms over her chest and pouted. However, when Shoto shot her a look, she groaned and brought her hands together. 'You're no fun, Todoroki-kun. Release!'
Midoriya squeaked as the gravity returned to his body and he descended to the ground. Abandoning the bowl, Shoto dove forward to catch him, arms outstretched. He breathed a sigh of relief as a fluffy stomach made contact with his open palms, safe, before he landed on the floor with a thud, chin, elbows and stomach receiving carpet burn as he slid forward slightly.
'A bit of warning would've been nice.' He grumbled. However, his anger quickly dissipated when Midoriya hopped towards him and licked his nose in thanks.
'I knew you'd catch him.' Uraraka skipped forward and patted her friend on the head. 'See, Deku-kun. I told you Todoroki-kun would fall for you!'
Shoto buried his head in the carpet and groaned.
 🐇🐇
Shoto wasn't exactly sure how he got into this position. One minute, he was reclined in one of the common room armchairs, reading a manga he had borrowed from Sero, while Midoriya released some pent up energy by zooming around the room. The next moment, he awoke from an unexpected nap to find his friend laid across his chest, twitching as he slept.
Shoto looked down at him with a soft expression as he registered the way his hands had wrapped protectively around Midoriya whilst he slept. Not wanting to let go just yet, he absentmindedly stroked soft, dark fur, hugging his friend closer and watching the way Midoriya moved with each rise and fall of Shoto's chest.
The two stayed that way for a while; Midoriya gently snoozed while Shoto fussed over him, gradually working his hand up to rub his head. He tickled the crease where upright ears met his head, before Shoto reached his friend's whiskers. He noticed how Midoriya leant into the touch and felt himself smile.
Eventually though, in typical Midoriya fashion, his twitches increased in size and frequency as he dreamt, until the poor boy woke himself up with a full body convulsion. Alarmed, he lifted his head and looked around frantically, nose twitching as he smelt the environment.
'Hey, bunny.' Shoto soothed, eyes widening when he processed the nickname, but Midoriya didn't seem to mind. In fact, his friend physically relaxed at the sound of his voice, then turned his head to lick Shoto's hand in greeting.
His heart swelled. 'Must've been quite the dream if it woke you up.'
Midoriya squeaked, before hiding his face between his paws, embarrassed. His fluffy body shook when Shoto's chest rumbled with amusement.
'What were you dreaming about? All Might?'
 Midoriya shook his head.
 'Bakugou?'
Shoto shouldn't have felt such satisfaction when his friend growled at the mention of that name, but alas, he was a simple man.
'Were you dreaming about me?' He tried to sound playful, but couldn't hide the slight blush on his cheeks.
It didn't help that Midoriya just stared at him with big, round eyes, like he wanted to say something, then Shoto realised.
  Oh…
'You were chasing a cat, weren't you?' He asked, intelligently.
He didn't know rabbits could sigh, let alone with that much exasperation.
'No?' He quirked an eyebrow. 'I'm not sure then, you'll have to tell me about it when you can talk again.'
Midoriya shook his head, before he let out a big yawn.
'You still sleepy?' Shoto tilted his head to the side, scratching his friend's chin. 'Maybe we should head to bed then. Blink once for my room, twice for your room.'
Midoriya stared at him for a moment, as if to say, 'Are you sure?'
'I'm not leaving you on your own, Midoriya.' Shoto answered, as if it were obvious. 'What if something happened to you? You can’t use your phone, you don’t even have opposable thumbs.’
His friend scrunched his nose up and frowned, before he relented and blinked once.
‘My room it is.’ Shoto reluctantly stopped stroking Midoriya and picked him up. After setting him comfortably on his shoulder, he stood up, grabbed the discarded manga and exited the common room.
By the time he entered his dorm room and got Midoriya settled on his futon, his friend was already dozing off again, his breathing evening out as his head rested against the pillow. Smiling softly at the sight, Shoto switched into his pyjamas and laid down next to his friend.
He leant his cheek on his palm and observed his sleeping form, basking in the rare opportunity to shamelessly appreciate Midoriya, one of the most important people in his life, without fear of being discovered. Pointed ears twitched, closed eyes fluttered and his teeth ground together slightly. Shoto watched the small behaviours, heart suddenly feeling too large for his chest as emotion consumed him.
His mouth moved before he could think.
'I'd do anything to protect you, you know?' He whispered softly, reaching a hand out before faltering. 'I promise, I'll try my best to always keep you safe.'
When Midoriya snuggled further into the pillow, Shoto sighed and closed his eyes, sleep slowly returning.
He missed the way verdant eyes opened to regard him with unbridled emotion, before shuffling closer.
 🐇🐇
The first thing Shoto's hazy mind thought when he woke up the next morning was Heavy.
Groaning, he rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand, before blinking them open, sleep blurring his vision. When it finally cleared, Shoto noticed that something was laid on top of him…
Or to be more specific, someone.
Or to be even more specific, Midoriya?!
Shoto's eyes widened and his face immediately turned crimson. Midoriya Izuku was in his bed, cuddling Shoto and drooling all over his chest. His fluffy green hair tickled his neck and his large arm was wrapped around his waist protectively.
  How did…?
It was only when he remembered the events of yesterday that Shoto realised the quirk must have just worn off in his sleep, causing Midoriya to transform back into his usual self.
Nothing to worry about. Shoto told himself as he tried not to set his blanket on fire. You're glad he's back to normal. No need to feel- Wait…
Shoto narrowed his eyes with suspicion, before he gingerly raised the blanket covering them, his curiosity getting the better of him. When his eyes landed on way too much freckled skin, he suppressed a yelp and dropped the material.
His face felt like it was on fire, but before he could calm himself down, Midoriya suddenly roused. He squished his cheek against Shoto's chest, before he groaned and looked up at him, scratching his disheveled hair and smiling.
'Hey, Todoroki-kun.' He mumbled, before rolling off Shoto and stretching. Luckily, the blanket still covered his lower body, but the frontal view of Midoriya's muscled torso was still too much for Shoto's heart that early in the morning.
'Morning, Midoriya.' He replied, ignoring the way his voice squeaked slightly. 'How do you feel?'
‘I feel great, all thanks to you!’ His friend replied, chirpily. ‘Thank you for looking after me yesterday. I know it was a little difficult at times.’
‘I’ll always look after you, Midoriya.’ Shoto shrugged, ignoring the blush on his cheeks.
‘Does that mean I can still cuddle you when I want to?’ Midoriya wiggled his eyebrows friskily, albeit he chuckled nervously. However, his playfulness was lost on Shoto.
‘Of course, it does.’ He fiddled with his blanket and looked away, realising his bluntness. ‘I like cuddling you and looking after you.’
Midoriya’s teasing smile faltered and he gazed at Shoto, curiously. Several seconds passed, before his friend nudged closer and reached out a trembling hand.
‘What about this?’ He cupped Shoto’s cheek and stroked the area under his scar with a gentleness that juxtaposed the raw strength he knew Midoriya possessed. The touch was so warm, Shoto felt himself nod, eyelids fluttering shut. ‘Good, because yesterday made me realise a lot of things, gave me the opportunity to figure out what I want… What you might want.’
Shoto exhaled shakily at that, not trusting himself to speak.
When Midoriya spoke next, he sounded a lot closer and Shoto’s eyes shot open when warm breath fanned his face. ‘I know that I want to be closer to you, if that’s what you want too? I know this isn’t the same as yesterday, but-’
‘Am I definitely awake right now?’ Shoto interrupted, swallowing heavily.
 Midoriya smiled at that.
 ‘Yes.’
‘Good.’ Shoto placed his hand over the top of Midoriya’s own and leant forward to close the gap between them. He rubbed his lips against his friend’s own, before he kissed him softly, admiring the way slightly chapped lips pressed back. When they pulled away, Midoriya rested his forehead against his own and laughed breathlessly.
‘I’m glad you waited until I turned back into a human before doing that.’
Shoto hummed softly and leant in to whisper in his ear.
‘Well, it’s not every day you wake up to find your best friend naked in your bed.’ He sat back then and waited as verdant eyes widened with realisation and Midoriya lifted the blanket to find that he was, indeed, not wearing any clothing.
 ‘WHAAA-?!’

BMO (part 2)
Warnings: there’s some mentions about diarrhoea and throwing up I think. As always if there’s anything I missed pls tell me
Brief: after dr y/n Lewis admits she finds Spencer attractive what will happen next 🤔
"you are attractive if that what you were gonna ask"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't even know what came over me to say something like that I mean in front of tara in front of all her co-workers IN FRONT OF HIM, I'm usually not that forward yes I have an outgoing personality and yes I'm confident but not when it comes to talking to guys I find attractive. they were a long moment of silence after I replied I don't think he expected me to say that and honestly me neither, he smiled back at me and was about to say something back before Rossi spoke.
"let's eat! we don't want to let my delicious pasta which I spent hours slaving over the stove to make get cold do we" Tara wasn't wrong Rossi's food is amazing, through the meal I asked tara's co-workers about their jobs their roles in the team and the cases they had done all of it was so interesting to me, continuously through the night I made great conversation with Emily and Garcia, I could tell they were the most fun if the group and I definitely planned to hang with Garcia whilst I was still in town. As the boys took all our plates going back inside to help Rossi with desert I was bombarded with a flurry of questions from the girls
“Ahhh you two are so cute together and can just see your babies being cute curly hair geniuses!”
"wow slow down Garcia she hasn't even had a full conversation with him yet" JJ replied
"okay well Garcia might be going a bit too fast but she isn't wrong you babies would be like smart cute hybrids with curly hair they would honestly be unstoppable"
"Tara you and Garcia need to slow down and calm down all I said is that he was attractive it's not like he freaking proposed to me or something, but if you all must know I think he's hot but like in the cute professor way where he's really smart and cute type of way and yes I did basically describe him and then proceeded to call him my dream man in front of you all but it's literally only been 2 hours so let's all slow down a bit okay?"
"okay okay y/n/n i’ll lay off it for a bit"
"thank you tara also where Is the toilet I really need to go"
when you walk back into the house keep walking straight until you reach the corridor then turn left and there should be a cream coloured door that's the toilet.
"okay thanks, ill see you guys in a min"
I began to walk out of the garden into the house
"wait tara that door leads to the kitchen, not the toilet," Emily said
"yeah I know if I'm right Spence will probably be rambling bout how much he likes her and that's gonna be fun"
"she is gonna kill you when she realises"
"I know but it will be all worth it and then she will thank me"
Spencer POV
"guys come on its not a big deal"
"uhh yes it is pretty Ricky you have a good looking girl who described you to a t calling you her dream man then she calls you attractive this is not a sign man this is a massive road sign telling you to go for it."
"morgens right I usually don't like to get involved with your love lives but its true she is female you and you should ask her out before she leaves for town." hotch said
"yeah but what if she ughh you know what never mind"
"no kid you were gonna say something what if -"
"what if she doesn't like me what if she thinks I'm weird"
"kid, I don't think she's gonna find she weird you shouldn't worry about what she thinks when you haven't even asked her out on a date yet"
"I know I shouldn't worry but you know how I am Derek I do this"
"look, Reid, I've been married three times so I know about asking a woman out you should just be confident and cool and just ask her"
"you guys know I'm not cool especially when its a pretty girl"
"okay spencer lets just start off with the basics what do you like about her"
"I mean what's there not to like shes smart shes funny and I can see her and tara are really close and I mean look at her she's gorgeous her eyes, her smile it's just so bright I couldn't stop looking at her face during dinner the way her skin looked so golden as it reflected of off Rossi's garden lights I mean she's the most beautiful girl I think I've ever seen."
just as I finished answering Dereks questions the kitchen door opened and she walked in
Y/n’s POV
"oh I'm sorry Tara told me this was the bathroom where is it actually"
"Reid go show Y/n where the bathroom is"
spencer gave a shocked look at hotch whilst he walked over to me form the kitchen table he muttered someone to the three of them that made Derek start laughing
"hey if you keep w..walking down to the right the toilet should be there, "he said whilst stuttering profusely
"oh ok thanks spencer"
I finished on the toilet and began to walk again to the kitchen I was gonna ask spencer out even I was fucking shitting it and didn't know what to do or how I was gonna do it I was
I walked into the kitchen and saw the cake Rossi was cutting into pieces
"omg is that chocolate cake"
"yeah, it is I made it myself you want a slice?"
"yes please Rossi tara hates when I eat chocolate cake because I'm lactose intolerant can i eat in here, Derek and hotch laughed when I said this"
"it will our little secret"
"uno Symptoms of lactose intolerance may include farting, stomach cramps or diarrhoea a few hours after having food or drink containing lactose, these effects often crop up 30 minutes to two hours after consuming dairy in people who are lactose intolerant. And the more milk products you consume, the worse you feel"
"Derek then hit spencer after he spoke only realising what he said after he looked at me I started to laugh and giggle"
"well then let's hope my bloating and diarrhoea are worth this cake"
"spencer looked at em first in shock the also started laughing as well"
"god I really shouldn't have sad that I just get really nervous and say stupid stuff around cute guys next thing you know I'm gonna start talking about my obsessions I with a doctor who and foreign films"
"you watch doctor who and you like foreign films"
"yeah, I do my favourite season is-"
"Season 5"
"How did you know that was my favourite season"
"anyone whos smart would say season 5 "
"yeah I guess they would"
"will you ask each other out already it's getting boring" Derek said
"spencer started to visibly blush and didn't say a word"
"spencer do you wanna maybe go on a date with me this week?"
"taken off guard he replied yeah yeah I would love that"

Love and Betrayal
Finn Shelby x Sister!Reader | Isaiah Jesus x Sister!ShelbyReader
Prompt: Y/N is Finn’s twin. Her and Isaiah are in a relationship and you are now pregnant, but Finn is not aware of the relationship between you two, so when he finds out things get a bit physical.
Warnings: Mention of violence and foul language.
Tumblr media
Being in love was something that you didn’t entirely desire, this was until your eyes met Isaiah’s. You always knew each other, growing up together you ended up seeing him as one of the Shelby, someone close to a brother. However, one day when the two of you were left alone at the house, you finally saw him. He was no more the guy you used to chase and pull a fight with. He was a man, that was looking at you like no one ever did before. His dark eyes looking at yours, clear blue, as they were the best piece of art he had ever seen and that was the moment you craved for love. Isaiah did too, he craved to receive and to give the same burning feeling he had inside of him and he knew right away that, what was torturing him so much and turning him insane, couldn’t be anything else but love.
A young reckless first love that started in the middle of a Tuesday evening, turned into the best thing in your life. A love that had to be kept a secret in order for it to survive. Feeling Isaiah imperceptibly touching your hand while standing next to you, with the room filled with other people, more importantly the Shelby family, could turned your stomach upside down. The first kiss he gave you, he was so scared to be doing the wrong thing that he barely touched you, but that changed very quickly. After a first taste, Isaiah couldn’t stop but thinking about those lips of yours. The constant fear of being caught just helped the passion grow between you two. The sneaking around was exciting for you, hiding something from your family made you feel finally a grown woman. You didn’t feel like you were betraying them all, but Finn... The guilt of hiding something so important from him, to be in love with his best friend, that was a big shame for you.
But you would’ve gone through with it all over again, because you could never give up on Isaiah, you both went two far, there was not turning back. So you decided to finally tell the truth, all the truth. When Finn came home he was surprised to find you there, lately you’ve been sneaking around a lot and he noticed, he knew you were up to no good, but he also knee that if you were doing anything that would have serious repercussions you would tell him. And perhaps, you did, because when he looked at you he immediately knew something was wrong. “You look like a ghost y/n.” He said while sitting next to you, slowly reaching out to your hand and hold it softly.
You laughed, looking at your hand in his and smiled “There’s something I wanted to tell you for a while now.” you said, your voice shaking made him hold your hand a bit tighter as if he was telling you that you were safe, that you could talk to him.
“I knew you were up to no good lately.” he said and shook is head but smiled “It’s me and you, you can tell me everything you know.”
And you nodded, if you were going to tell something to anyone it would have been Finn, he wasn’t just your twin brother, your bond was beyond blood, you shared one soul “I’m always up to no good, it’s part of being a Shelby.” You joked “I.. I met someone, someone I’m really fond of and that really, really cares about me” you said looking at him and despite your fear of being judged, he was still smiling.
“That’s good eh” he said, really happy to know that you at least were able to find someone for yourself “Who’s the loser then? It’s better if I do the talk.” He said referring to their older brothers that were not exactly well mannered when it came to this kind of issue. And here you froze, you were the one now trying to hold his hand and that made him raise an eyebrow, you looked at him, scared and looking for comfort, but he didn’t know how to give it to you since he didn’t know just yet what was the problem “Y/n, who is it?” He asked again this time his voice was not calm.
“Promise me you will try to understand” you begged.
“Stop pissing me off, who the fuck is it?” He quickly replied and he stood up, ready for anything that could have come out of your mouth.
“Finn, promise it”
“I’m not promising shit. Who the fuck is it?” Again, this time he raised his voice “You are going to tell me now or you are going to tell Arthur and Thomas” he said as a threat, which is this case was really a big threat.
“Isaiah.” You whispered, such a small and imperceptible whisper that you barely heard yourself “Isaiah.” You said again, but this time you heard yourself and so did he.
He stood her looking at you. His cheeks now deep red where telling you that he was trying to contain himself. “You are joking eh?” He said, you could tell by his eyes that he felt betrayed and he did. Finn felt sick as soon you said his name. His best friend, the guy he trusted the most was now your lover? “Please tell me you are fucking joking and that you didn’t fuck my best friend”
“It’s not about the sex you idiot.” you said and stood up now “How dare you? Do you really think so low of me?”
“I do not! I think low of him! The man is garbage! Do you know what we do when we go to London?” Finn he screamed at you, making you question if he was indeed the best person you could have gone to seek help.
“We love each other” you proceed saying. You knew about London, you knew what kind of life Isaiah did before you, after all you were friends before anything else.
“What the fuck do you know about love?”
“Well, what the fuck do you know about us” And that come back made him more frustrated than ever. He took a deep breath and quickly put on his jacket. “Where are you going?” You asked, but received no response from him, he instead proceeded and got out of the house so you followed him “Finn wait, let’s talk about this”
“Apparently we can’t because you are in love and all that darned crap” he said pulling your hand off his arm that was trying to take him back in the house “Let’s see what you prince charming has to say about this”. Finn heart was aching. Both his friend and his sister made a fool out of him.
All the way to the pub you tried to convince Finn to go back, that you didn’t want him and Isaiah to fight, but he wasn’t listening. If anything all this talk of yours made him angrier. When arrived at the pub his eyes went straight looking for Isaiah and when he saw him drinking and laughing with some coworkers, he rushed to him and he grabbed him by the collar of his shirt “Easy man” Isaiah said, almost laughing at him. He was tipsy and honestly amused by all the rage that Finn was throwing at him, so out of his character. However when he saw you, quickly rushing towards the too of them he fell all the alcohol he had drank leaving his body and he soon after realise what was happening “Finn, I can expla-“ but Finn didn’t let him finish as he punched him straight in the face making him fall on the ground.
You gasped, you have never seen Finn like that, so angry and impulsive and that made you feel so sad. So sad that you made him like this.
“You fucked my sister?!” He screamed at him, on the ground Isaiah was trying to clean the blood coming out of his nose and again Finn didn’t give him time to speak and he kicked him on the stomach, making him moan out of pain.
“Finn it’s enough!” You yelled at him, incapable of making a move towards him to stop him. Looking at Isaiah bleeding and aching broke your heart, slowly some tears started to run on your cheeks.
“Fuck Finn...” Isaiah moaned out, trying to stand up and he succeeded “I fucking love her, it’s not just sex” he dared to say, he looked over to you trying to smile to let you know that it was okay. He was not going to fight him back, he knew that he messed up and that forgiveness was too soon to seek.
But those words, those big words Isaiah said made Finn took out his gun and pointing it to Isaiah’s head “Dont you dare say those words” he said, now his voice was trembling a bit “How fucking dare you? After all we did for you and your family?” But they both now Finn rage didn’t have anything to do with what the Shelby did for Isaiah, for Finn it was his best friends going behind his back.
“I’m pregnant” you yelled, unnecessary are the pub was now in a deep silence and only Finn and Isaiah’s voices were raised.
Finn almost let the gun fell out his hand and Isaiah, he almost fell himself. Now, that was going to be another big talk to have.
