#I love how they showed Sam and Isaiahs relationships

"I don't ship T'Challa and Bucky".
Nor do I. You don't have to...
What do all close bonds have to result in ships anyway? There are other kinds of love than romantic/sexual and there are other kinds of bonds.
Why can't two characters have close emotional bonds without being romantically in love with each other? I say they can! I say we need more extremely close platonic/sibling- like relationships which do not involve who wants to sleep with whom.
Lol, sorry I am ranting. I love how you never pass up on a chance to shit on TFatWS though. It deserves it. Someone even theorized that the reason the scenes with the Wakandans are framed like that in the series is to insinuate Bucky betrayed them.
He would *never* have betrayed them. Bucky is not a betrayer. i'm not saying that to woobify him or because he's without flaw, but its just not in his nature to betray or backstab people. He's a protector by nature like you suggested. Not if he's able to exercize free choice and consent anyway. What he did as the Winter Soldier.. well can that even be counted as betrayal when it wasn't done of his free consent or choice?
Which all goes to show how little the writers of that series understood Bucky/just literally wanted to undermine and subvert everything about his established personality and nature. Why don't the writers just go ahead an kill him off already? Permanently this time. They clearly couldn't care less about his character at this point so they might as well. Just at least give him a heroic death....
Yeah, honestly Bucky breaking Zemo out isn’t my gripe, it’s that he’s not given a justification that matches his character. Say if the super soldiers were a threat to Wakanda, or even a direct threat to Sam (instead of them just doing their own thing and it’s really Sam and Bucky trying to stop their quest to provide vaccines for the refugees), and Zemo was once working closely with Nagel and had a direct line in, I would think that might be sufficient justification for Bucky to break Zemo out. As it stands it’s like three degrees of separation and it made no sense for Bucky to go that far, for something that had minimal returns.
I heard that Cap 4 will contain a scene where Isaiah becomes “possessed” in the manner of a brainwashed Winter Soldier and fights against Sam. I would be interested to see whether they treat that as Isaiah’s fault and something he needs to make amends for, or as something beyond his control and the fault of the person who controlled him — as it should be. Although, if they take the correct stance, given the writer is Spellman, I would question that divergent treatment of two similar characters.
There is a subsection of series fans who believe any direct acknowledgment of Bucky’s extensive trauma or purporting he is a man with strong moral goodness is woobification. Pointing out that he is a good man who would not fucking do that is not what woobification is about.
I think there’s also a subsection of fans who prefer to characterise Bucky as morally ambiguous. It’s not the characterisation I see from movie canon, and I think it’s more in keeping with the comics Bucky who’s a very different character.

So, I got called a b***h and misogynistic (even though I'm a woman) and hating Captain Carter because of my post. Howbis it that the stans side does this crap, yet the antis, neutrals, and casual people can have actual conversations.
I'm not surprised. Her fans love to call everyone misogynistic but for them what Hayley did to Emily and Sharon get a pass. They are the biggest hypocrites here so I doubt they even know what misogynistic means.
Her character is a mess and they don't know how to deal with it. She was a terrible love interest on CA1 (that bullshit with the shield and Steve wouldn't had been forgiven if she was a man double standards right there, while they barely developed interactions between them because it was clear she was planned to be something temporal), then they had brought her again (CAWS) and again (AntMan) and again (AOU) and again (Endgame) to become a consolation price for Steve in the last one (she doesn't say a word in the whole movie and they erased her whole character development of her own series for that) to end with the laziest episode of What If (they didn't even adapt the story for her, just copy pasted Steve's one, like are you telling us that Peggy didn't do a thing for woman's rights after she got the serum? Seriusly?) with that story continue to show how she doesn't have any personal relationship outside Steve ( She and Sharon didn't even interact once, and then in what if they showed us she was all ready to leave her friendship with Natasha to return to Steve) so she isn't even proper character yet they expect us to care? To give a fuck about her? To not be bothered about she is going to appear on big screen before Sam does? To ignore her flaws, from hiring nazis to being an incompetent Shield director (being oblivious to Isaiah's situation or not having a clue about what their partners where doing with Hank's investigations) ?

2003. Mike was exactly what Brad needed in his life. He was a born leader, who people looked up to. His friends called him The Glue because he kept the band from killing each other. That was just his personality. When he was stressed out, he knew he could count on him. There were many things he loved about him. One of them was that he didn’t care about his fame. He was just William, the guy from Oklahoma who happened to make movies.
He was introduced to his ex-boyfriend, Phoenix. Phoenix was happy that Mike had found someone who made him happy. The band was back together, so he couldn’t focus on taking care of his mother. She told him not to worry about her. His brother and father would be there helping take care of her. The first day they were together in the studio, they went around giving each other updates.
Chester had completed six months of rehabilitation and was sober. He was working on repairing his relationship with Sam and his kids. She gave birth to a little boy named, Draven Sebastian Bennington. Chester did everything he could to be a good father to him and his two older children, Jaime and Isaiah. They resented him because he chose drugs over them. That’s how it felt. Their mother, Elka was doing everything she could for them.
His marriage wasn’t going to last. He and Sam knew it. Before getting a divorce, they wanted to try to do everything they could to save it. Brad was engaged to his girlfriend, Elisa. They were planning a Jewish wedding for September. They congratulated them! Thank you! Mike announced he was in a new relationship with Brad Pitt.
What was that like? They were getting to know each other. Brad was not a celebrity to him. He didn’t care about that. How was Bria? She was doing great! Was she still escorting? No, she quit after he expressed his anxiety about her meeting random men. There was one situation where she had flown to France. When she arrived at the hotel, she found out her date had been canceled. It was because of that, he became worried about her being stranded in a foreign country by herself.
That made sense. She did adopt another kitten for Mama. His name was Slash. Joe asked about the name. He was supposedly named after Slash from Guns N Roses. But, he was just adorable. He and Misty went over to her place for a play date with the cats. How did that go? Misty was afraid of the cats at first, but then she started playing with them. Why was she scared of them?
“We thought it had more to do with her being bigger than them and her not wanting to accidentally hurt them.”
“That makes sense”, Brad said.
Rob spent a lot of his time practicing the drums. While Joe played a lot of video games. He joked that was why he was single. They laughed.
When Bria showed up later, she had both cats with her. She put them on the table while they gathered around to meet them. They were a year old, but still very playful, curious, and mischievous. Even when it got them into trouble.
The cats were curious about them, though they recognized Mike. Hi, humans! Joe asked if they got along. They got along like a little brother and an older sister. Sometimes they did, sometimes they didn’t. They laughed. When she brought Slash home, he was very scared. Mama helped him get comfortable in his new environment. It took him a few days before he came up to her to play. It was the most amazing feeling in the world!
Was he abused? No, he was brought back to the shelter because his family was moving and they couldn’t bring him with them. Mama’s best friend was Brad Pitt. Mike laughed and told them how she runs over to him whenever he comes over. She also liked climbing up his leg. Why was he her best friend?
“When I went to France, he came over and sat for me. Did you guys hear about that disaster?”
“Your date cancelled on you and left you stranded”, Phoenix asked.
“Yeah, he canceled on me when I was already in the air. Anyway, I came home after a few days and Mama was perched on his shoulder like a bird. It was the cutest fucking thing ever! After that, everything is about him!”
Joe was amused by the cats. More than he ever expected to be. They sniffed his hand when he offered it to them. He smelled like a human. They then went around to the other humans to say hello. They received attention and pets. Meow. Meow. What was she doing now? She was a stay-at-home cat mom. Are you not escorting anymore? No, not anymore. She explained her decision.
She and Mike went over her financials. Since she was frugal, she didn’t have to worry about money for a long time. If she had to, she could sell whatever designer things she had and live off of Target. They were happy to hear she wasn’t escorting anymore. They didn’t want to shame her because she did it out of desperation to pay for her expenses. It just seemed degrading to sell herself to men. At least it wasn’t stripping or prostitution.
Since she wasn’t using drugs outside of marijuana, she looked healthier and happier. Chester hugged her. He thanked her for telling Mike about his addiction. You’re welcome, Chessy. They told each other I love you. After a while, they said goodbye to her and the cats. Mike helped her put them back into the carrier. Mama yawned. It was time for a nap before dinner.
Joe texted her asking to hang out. She replied inviting him over with her address. An hour later, they were upstairs in her room. She had fed the cats before he arrived, so they wouldn’t bother them. He kissed her before taking off her shirt. His hands went down her chest, as he felt her skin. Their breathing got deeper, as he laid her down on the bed. She pulled him down on top of her. He remembered the feeling of being inside her and he wanted to experience it again.
Since Brad was shooting another movie, it was just Mike. Phoenix invited him to grab a beer with him. Yeah, he could do that. He met him at a sports bar and grill. Over drinks and appetizers, they caught up with their lives. His mother was not doing well, but she was a fighter. Mike asked if the band reached out to him. Yes, they did.
Brad and Elisa brought over some food for her and his father. They stayed for a few hours until she got tired and needed to rest. Good for them! He asked if he could bring over anything. He appreciated it and asked for him to bring over something to keep her busy. She liked puzzle books. They were also inexpensive at a few dollars a book. He could do that. Thank you. They made a plan for him to visit the next Saturday afternoon.
Joe finished inside her with a groan. He pulled out before laying down beside her. This time, he wasn’t going to leave her. He leaned over and kissed her before getting up and going into the bathroom with his clothes. It had been a long time since anyone loved her body like that. She felt safe and comfortable with Joe. Maybe this time, she could give him a fair chance instead of running to Chester.

I love how they handled Isaiah and Sam in this episode and how they let us sit with the knowledge of what happened to him
So often in all movies we learn a piece of information and our protagonists IMMEDIATELY respond (usually badly tbh) and its the consequences of those actions which they spend the rest of the movie solving
For example we have age of Ultron where Tony immediately builds this weapon, they then have to face the consequences.
Even within the show we have Walker leaving his best friends corpse in favour of revenge - the show is clearly criticising the flippant attitude which he has to serious issues
Because they make that point, Sam takes time to reflect on what Isaiah tells him the TV format allows him to do that. We see him decide for himself what the shield and the mantle of cpatian America means to him
It would have been so incredibly easy for marvel to have made tfatws into a cute buddycop series with little to no actual social statements
But they didn't, and I love that when we get to see Sam finally take that shield it's not because Bucky guilted him into it, or in honour of steve or even avoiding it on the advice of Isaiah
This series shows us who Sam Wilson is as a person and what he stands for, and we have finally been given time to see it

There is something so special to me about how Sam is not scared of Bucky. And, no, this is not a “Bucky is a precious baby angel who never did anything wrong in his life thank goodness Sam sees that” kind of post.
Bucky is dangerous.
Even with his winter soldier days behind him, he’s a scary guy.
And Sam? Sam teases him, Sam banters with him, Sam doesn’t think twice about putting his hand over Bucky’s vibranium arm in the middle of a fight just go make sure he’s not going off the deep end. Sam is not scared of Bucky.
And I think that says more about Sam than it does about Bucky. Sam, who kicks helicopters and outruns collapsing buildings. Sam, who immediately after some guy shows up and kicks his ass (and steve and buckys) decides to roast this guy’s costume choice knowing full well the guy is fucking royalty and his own costume is literally wings. Sam, who saw his best friend get blown out of the sky and still suits up and uses wings as his main weapon. Sam, who has been through war, who is a Black man in a country that by in large does not respect him or his experience (case in point: Isaiah Bradley’s story, do not @ me), who is given the immeasurable burden of carrying the shield without even being consulted. Sam, who is trying to reconnect with the family he left behind, trying to deal with their financial issues and the trauma that to him, his sister and nephews have all aged five years in the blink of an eye, but to them, he died.
Sam has every reason to be bitter and jaded and he has every reason to be scared. But at every turn, the man does not flinch.
It’s too much to ask of him. It’s unfair that he should need to have an almost inhuman level of mental fortitude, that he never gets to have a moment of weakness. Sam does the hard thing, the brave thing, every. Single. Time.
So why would he be scared of Bucky? Bucky can kill him, sure, but so can pretty much every other big bad Sams gone up against.
To Bucky, Sam not being afraid of him is everything. Because Sam knows the worst parts of Bucky better than anyone left in this planet (they keep referring to Steve as ‘gone’) and he constantly teases him about it. He calls Bucky out on it. He is not afraid of his winter soldier days, or his prickly personality or even of Bucky ghosting him again.
To me, it’s not a “beauty who loved the beast” kind of thing where Sam accepts any and all behavior from Bucky (we saw him multiple times throughout the show telling Bucky, quite eloquently, to fuck right off with his bullshit) but rather that Bucky is besotted with Sam’s fearlessness, even before he really understands the depths of it. I think Bucky doesn’t know for a long time why he is so drawn to Sam, I think he uses the shield as an excuse, I think he pulls away from Sam because of his confusion. But eventually, it all comes down one simple thing: Sam is not scared of Bucky.
And he should be. Bucky knows he should be. Sam knows it, too. But Sam Wilson’s bravery is the stuff of legends — perhaps that’s been his super power all along — and he looks at the monster Bucky has been, the monster he could still become, and he just fucking shrugs. Dares Bucky to try him.
If you want to read it romantically (like I do), it’s inevitable that Bucky would fall for Sam. If you want to read it platonically, it’s inevitable that Sam is the kind of man Bucky would pledge his loyalty to.
However you want to read it, I just think there’s something so very special and unique about their relationship and what that says about each of their characters, especially Sam.
Anyway, these are my unsolicited SamBucky thoughts of the day.

My brain completely goes into full queer lockdown when I think about the boat engine scene. The level of intimacy in this scene is so intense I can’t believe they included it. And also? The moment Sam calls on his community to repair the boat, I was gone. Chef kiss, utter perfection. Sam Wilson finally asked for help.
I love how this shows we need people in our corner in different ways. Even if the system gets us down, that’s alright - where there’s a will, there’s a way. Sam is the product of his family’s legacy, one others would protect, one he would protect. None of us can do everything alone. But Sam would surely try to help everyone else before receiving. Sam needed his family, his community. Sam embracing those elements is what allowed him to fully step into himself. It signaled the end of disconnection. But he also needed to feel seen specifically by Bucky.
The series quickly brings us to Sam alone on the boat. And there’s so much to be said here about legacy and Sam feeling he has to singlehandedly carry on a legacy. And it isn’t working. The engine, the heart of the boat, is broken. We got ourselves a god damn metaphor for this man’s heart.
So cut to episode 5. Sam has realized he needs his family and community to fix the boat (his heart and soul). A community member brings the replacement part… but it’s Bucky who does the heavy lifting for Sam. And Sam looks SHOCKED.
Even when we’ve moved on to Sam asking for help, bringing his community together, he still sneaks out early to work on the engine, the heart, alone.
Except this time, Bucky follows him and interrupts. And unlike in ep one when Bucky jumped out a damn plane to follow Sam, Sam silently invites him in. They share a long, meaningful look with nothing said. Then Sam literally gives Bucky instructions to his heart, y’all.
It’s later followed by Bucky’s additional repair work, which helps Sam decide to take the mantle (per Anthony Mackie). It’s no coincidence that Bucky is the only outsider allowed to see every part of Sam, and it’s only when Bucky starts respecting and appreciating Sam in his totality that Sam is able to move forward. Bucky’s showing up, even when Bucky was being a shit and they were arguing, meant something to Sam. That Bucky finally showed up in the right way? It’s exactly what Sam needed.
This is in no way meant to downplay the pivotal roles of Isaiah, Sarah, the boys and his community or say Sam wouldn’t get there without Bucky. But it does speak volumes to how important their relationship is in the series. Bucky having Sam’s back, rolling up with those acts of service, making those amends… it was a balm to a troubled heart.
And the show did that intentionally. Even if you don’t ship Sambucky, you are meant to understand these two now have an unshakable bond to the point Bucky freaking moves to NOLA. Wild y’all.

i wasn't really in the mcu fandom before tfatws and wow. coming across bucky stans has been like getting slapped with a live fish even tho i should have seen it coming. i hope bucky's characterization keeps going in ways that piss off his ridiculous racist stans. funnily enough, i felt the show finally made him an interesting character.
Hi Anon!!!
Let me tell you Anon! Bucky up, because I couldn’t agree with you more. Yes to everything you wrote. Especially about pissing off the stans.
Tumblr media
I'm not saying this lightly, but they are the worst. The worst.
I've rarely seen this level of disconnection to reality in a fandom (expect maybe the Reylos) and I still love Bucky's character but sometimes I see some posts and I want to ... break things. They manage to make EVERYTHING about Bucky. For them, anyone around Bucky is bad and Bucky has never done anything wrong a day in his  life.
I was just surprised because I had never experienced this before, because when the Sambucky ship was smaller, the nonsense was coming from outside the fandom...But now we’re seeing it from Sambucky shippers as well, like what???
Here's a non exhaustive list of stuff Bucky stans have said, there’s so much more:
- I’ll start with the wildest post I’ve ever seen from a stan:
Tumblr media
Screenshot from  @mshunnybunch
- Whenever there’s an accomplishement for Anthony or Sam/ they manage to make it about Bucky and ask why didn’t Bucky or Seb get it too?? They did it when it was announced that Sam Wilson was getting the shield, thy did it when it was announced that Anthony had been signed for a Cap 4 movie,
Tumblr media
Screenshot from @stacee-not-jaxx
- They did it when Anthony was nominated to the HCA Awards for his Captain America role and not Sebastian:
Tumblr media
Because no...the nomination couldn’t possibly be because of his talent, right?
- They never congragulate Sam or Anthony, or any costars their only reaction is: What about Bucky, why weren't there any announcement for him too? And when you tell them that this moment should be about Sam/Anthony, they invent the most insane lies like " Sebastian was promised a Solo movie, we have been waiting for 10 years.”
- They treat Sam as the bad guy but never acknowledge when Bucky f*cks up, or when he’s rude."Sam is so awful to Bucky, he treats Bucky like he was responsible for his acts as the Winter Soldier" When did Sam ever do that btw?, “Sam was awful for saying “cyborg brain”
- If you ask them why they always imagine Sam taking care of Bucky and never they other way around, they snap.
- And when you point out that in a healthy relationship one partner shouldn’t be the other’s therapist, they can be a confident but not a therapist, and that Bucky should see an actual therapist... they snap.
- They don’t respect tagging
- The racist posts that were flooding about Ayo, but never mention how Bucky betrayed Ayo’s trust.
-They imagined their own version of MCU Bucky and do not care that it doesn’t match what we have seen on screen.
.- “Uwu why is everyone calling out Bucky’s behavior in the police scene`?”..But then they don’t even think about how Sam must have felt and how the scene was about Sam, not Bucky.
- Comparing Bucky's experience to Isaiah's... Yikes
- Called Sam “petulant and childish” for asking Bucky why he cared so much about the shield since it had nothing to do with him.
- Let’s not even talk about how a lot of them talk about Steve.
- Whenever they make a racist post, instead of listening and ameninding it, they get defensive, start saying things that are actually worst than the original post.
Tumblr media
And when they are being called out  on all of this their response is: uwu why does everyone hate Bucky??`? newsflash, it's not Bucky we hate, it's his stans.
Tumblr media
I'm a Sambucky shipper but when I see a f*cked up Sambucky post I either call it out or block the OP, but Bucky stans don't do that, they just rally and write rants about how “not all Bucky stans are like that”, and that we shouldn't be generalizing. And I know that because my asks are always open. Here are the asks I get whenever I mention the problem with Bucky stans, these were sent a couple of months ago bty, just using them as an example:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So apparently calling out sh*tty/racist behavior is policing now... So this is basically how the Bucky fandom is, and the so-called “normal” fans remain silent which leads me to wonder where they stand.
And to be clear, I received these asks when I made a post about how I don’t like it when the fandom focuses on Bucky and sidelines Sam. I wasn’t even hating on Bucky or anything so...
This is why I cannot deal with Bucky stans. They live in an alternate reality where a different TV show was airing, and where emitting even the slightest criticism towards their character or their fandom is “hate”... Bucky is always the victim not matter what happens and so are they.
And then there are the  And the “regular fans”, the unproblematic ones, instead of calling out the problematic Bucky stans, come in my asks to complain about how my posts are “anti-Bucky”. Spoiler alert: They’re not.
In the end the people calling out f*cked up posts become the bad guys because they are " generalizing", but they never challenge or call out the problematic blogs directly. So excuse me to "generalize", but if a problematic or racist post in you fandom doesn't bother you, I'm going to assume that you lowkey agree with it. If you don’t have a problem with the toxic stans but you have a problem with people calling out the toxic stans, then I have bad news for you.
If the toxic stans really were a small portion of the fandom, then the problematic posts would be challenged a little more.
I love Sam Wilson as a character but, believe me, I have always been a pro Bucky Barnes blog back in 2016/2017, I was sharing petitions for a Winter Soldier solo movie, but the Bucky stans sometimes make me want to stay away from the character because they are just unsufferable.
The only stans who come even close to the level of toxicity of Bucky stans are Tony and Kylo Ren stans, but at least Kylo and Tony are awful characters on their own...but Bucky stans manage to make a great character with a lot of potential like Bucky despicable.
TL:DR: I love Bucky & hate the stans.
End of rant.

“you still having those nightmares?” “all the time.” how would sam know? how. would. sam. know. because guys. if bucky was having nightmares on the jet (which he probably was) this question is irrelevant. sams obviously talking abt prior to TFATWS. these are, from what we know, scripted lines. lines SAM WILSON is saying. so how the living fuck are they not canon yet? (that was not english). they obviously spent time together. LIVING together. in the same space as each other. talking to each other abt trauma. whatever you wanna believe. could’ve been wakanda. mackie mentioned that sam visited bucky in wakanda (whatever mackie says abt these characters is canon idc). also, completely likely they were living togther after endgame. or... SAM FOUND BUCKY BETWEEN TWS AND CW. YEAHHHHHH. the best sambucky theory its true. but anyway, there is no explanation on how sam would know bucky was having nightmares constantly. the only canon spot marvel would let be canon is in wakanda. the fact that bucky would open up to sam of all people would be surprising. they wouldnt know each other. bucky, still fresh from the freezer, would probably be weary of anyone other than steve. unless. UNLESS THEY MET BETWEEN TWS AND CW. and, by the way, the nightmare line isn’t the first one to support this. “sam, i’ve heard a lot about you.” why on gods green earth would raynor know about sam? what explanation do you have for that one, mr mouse? was it because sam and bucky got into a huge argument about the shield, worthy enough for raynor? now, i dont know a lot about, well, anything. therapy, relationship, emotionally numb super soldiers and equally emotionally numb avengers, but like, if it was worthy enough for therapy. WORTHY FOR RAYNOR, who gives no shits. couldn’t we assume that, in some shape or form, there was something between them after endgame? THATS NOT THE ONLY LINE, TOO. after they leave isaiahs house, sam asked bucky something along the lines of “why didn’t you tell me about isaiah?”. when would bucky have gotten a good chance to tell sam? when would it have been a good idea? hm, gee, idk, maybe when sam was debating whether to pick up the shield or not? between endgame and tfatws. yeah. these scripted lines show so much more than a rolling in  a field or a therapy session (well, kind of. the therapy session did kind of do something for us) but it opens the door of “oh my god they knew each other WELL before tfatws” which, by the way, that door has been open for so long, tfatws is just solidifying it. i love when i think im right, this is so fun.

Hey there
Favourite falcon and winter soldier scenes?
Hi!!😄❤❤
It's funny you ask about that, I just finished the series for the umpteenth time haha!
Thank you for being patient, I went episode by episode and today has been super hectic😅
Literally every Bucky and Sam scene!
But for realsies:
Ep 1 New World Order
The face Bucky makes when trying to get Yori to calm down. I love seeing him emote; his expressions always fascinate me because The Winter Soldier had next to no expressions, and Bucky has no idea what to do with his face. Bless him.
Tumblr media
I think one of my favorite things is the kind of parallel between what Bucky does vs what Dr. Raynor says. "Don't do anything illegal." *Proceeds to do something illegal* We love a chaotic boy.
Oh my god Sam's little bird wave took me out!!
Tumblr media
Ep 2 The Star-Spangled Man
"Who we fighting now, Gandalf?" Totally confirms that our boy is a nerd™️
Bucky's relationship with Red Wing. When he bats at it like a cat😂
Tumblr media
The way he thinks about Red Wing reminds me of how Natasha views it.
Ep 3 Power Broker
When Sharon fights!! Although she isn't my favorite character (there's so much they could have done with her and Van Camp does a lovely job) she kicks ass. Can't deny that!
Tumblr media
The entire sequence of Winter Soldier mode when Bucky fights in that bar. Like please sir, step on me.
Tumblr media
Sam's outfit! And the "I can't run in these heels!!!"
Tumblr media
Freaking Zemo popping up in that car like a cocky mofo😂
Tumblr media
Ep 4 The Whole World Is Watching
The beginning scene that makes me cry every time I see it. That moment when you can see Bucky break free of his "rotted fur," where you can see the relief in his eyes and a genuine smile on his face. One that probably hadn't been seen in a very long time.
Oh my God my absolute favorite thing of the whole series is when Zemo is talking about super soldiers and talks about a powerful group can form things like the naz*s and the Avengers and Sam says "Hey, those are our friends you're talking about."
And Bucky says "The Avengers, not the naz*s" I LOSE IT EVERY TIME I SEE THAT like of course we needed clarification, Bucky😂
When the Dora Milaje are fighting with Walker and Hoskins, and Zemo takes a drink, Sam comments on making a move and Bucky, oh, Bucky, says "Looking strong, John!"
When Karli is threatening Sarah and as soon as Sam says "Take the boys." Bucky immediately whips his head in Sam's direction, I love that he's protective.
Tumblr media
Ep 5 Truth
Where Bucky is about to shoot Zemo and doesn't. I just-I-GROWTH. I love it!! The little self-satisfied smirk as the bullets fall from his palm.
The talk between Isaiah and Sam. Carl Lumbly honestly stole the show in every scene he was in, he's highly underrated. I wish he'd gotten more attention for this role.
Each time Bucky showed off his strength on the boat!
Tumblr media
Ep 6 One World, One People
When they call him Sergeant Barnes🥺 Makes my heart soar!
Sam catching the artillery(?) truck with the council inside and Bucky being extremely proud of him.
Tumblr media
"I don't fly man that's your thing." *Revs motorcycle* OOH ALSO when he's riding and hits that concrete wall, launching himself at one of the Flag Smashers! Also Natasha vibes👀
When one of the men thanks him for saving them and the shock on his beautiful face. Like yes baby, you deserve that.
Sam's speech at the end. Something I think we need to hear in the real world❤
Thank you so much for the ask!!❤❤❤

“...I thought it was gonna be a disaster, especially putting me and Sebastian together and letting us go (laughs).”
“...all that was communicated at the time was, look, we love these two characters, um, Sam and Bucky, and we love them together. And we wanna, we wanna make sure that we, we get the time to focus on them, um, and, you know, this is again, following the, the footsteps of Infinity War and Endgame where I think, you know, our characters have been established to some extents, and again, mine way more so than, than Anthony’s character right, but then in the last few movies I, I’ve felt like - you know, at least what was communicated to me was that they hadn’t got a chance really explore them as much as they would have wanted to...they wanted us together and to further kind of, you know, expand on our, on our chemistry, you know, um and, and that was gonna be exciting and super fun to me. And, and the idea of just six hours obviously with, with, with these characters, um, was also really exciting, because it felt like we were gonna get to kind of get, you know, much deeper into who they were, and what their backgrounds are and where they come from.”
“...I thought that Sharon had sort of been put to bed, so it was really interesting to get the phone-call that they wanted to bring her back...for me that was very exciting...for Sharon it was just so much fun to see her in a different light...she’s really gone to the dark side, but I enjoyed it so much...”
“...entering the MCU Universe was, um, quite wild...I had no idea who Isaiah was...”
“...you just have to trust the people that you’re working with, and when you’re working with Anthony and Sebastian, and - I didn’t get to work with Emily but - uh, and Daniel, you know, it’s it’s easy - it’s like you do all kinds of different things and you’re having fun...”
“...we were always looking for the, the temperature of it, you know, in terms of how sarcastic is he, you know, uh, there were - there were, there were takes that we did that were very funny you know; there was a version of that scene that was actually more comedic, but you know, what I - what I loved ultimately is that they decided to go with, with something that was more grounded and realistic, and - and, and yeah. it was, it was nice to have a scene like that to start of with because at least it sets up for us the journey um, of, of where he has to go, you know, where he’s at sort of at the end of, of - of Endgame, you know, um, is, is very much in, in a sense of, you know, kind of a lack of identity and, and, and fortunately he has the capability to sort of reinvent himself and re-educate himself and really his arc in this show, from my perspective, was always a sort of a re-education and, and a, and a re kind of calibrating of, okay, what, who am I and, and - what am I - what do I stand for, and, and what can I contribute, how can I contribute, you know? Um, I think that in a way for, you know, he represents, you know it’s the PTSD of war, and, and again, of, of, of a soldier who sort of like enlisted a long time ago and then has kind of never really had his own choices, you know, to, to sort of make his own choices and now he finally does and, and what he does and what he decides to do, uh, is what I think is most impactful...”
“...my life mirrors the idea of Sam Wilson as a character...I’m a dude that went to a meeting and I left as Captain America...it’s a rewarding feeling, not only, you know the idea being Captain America, but to be a part of this institution that’s known as Marvel because, you know, it offers us the opportunities to do really interesting, fun, different types of roles, while at the same time, building our fan-base and doing it in a classy way...”
“...in the comic books, Sharon is such a badass and we never really did get to explore that side of her...it was great to see that side of Sharon, I really enjoyed it...I was so happy to see Sharon in this new light...”
“...I think his mind is completely changed by what he sees...he’s definitely changed...all he’s trying to do now is just live...”
“...I’d look at Sebastian and - because, you know, you know there was a moment of connection between them that, um, that needed to happen...he understands more of who he is now, but has to respect - listen respectfully...”
“...when I first read what he actually wrote, I was really moved, I was, I was taken aback because I didn’t - I had never - no-one had ever put my feelings, my complexity and confusion about the state of, uh, African-American in this country into words so eloquently and beautifully...Steve Rogers is a super-soldier, he’s a muscle Captain America...whereas Sam Wilson is a counsellor...they’re two very different characters...the idea of where we are as a country and what that monologue meant was really huge for me because I have sons, and I know when I have a party at the house for my boys, the back yard literally looks like a racial skittle-box...at some point in time, your reality should reflect everything around you, and I want my kinds to have a reality where they’re not pigeon holed into one idea of what they think their race, their culture, their masculinity is and I think, you know, with this series what Malcolm was able to put in that monologue so beautifully is we’re all Americans, we’re all humans...”
“...Bucky had a second shot and Wakanda gave him that...he knows where his loyalty and relationships lie, however he’s put in a situation in the show where he’s having to test boundaries and relationships as a result, and, you know, he’s also driven by slight triggers and personal motives desires that are, you know, unrealized desires he may have towards setting the score with Zemo, you know, you know, and, and, and you know, he’s kind of like torn and, and figuring out his boundaries - and that’s a moment where it’s like ‘Okay you’re right at the edge’. You know what I mean? And it’s like don’t, don’t forget like -  don’t forget where you’re coming from now, you know, and, and I think it’s, it’s the, the learning of that. But then also, you know, in the comic book, in the comic books, you know, Bucky has, like he learns how to detach his arm and use it and throw it and all this stuff, so it’s like there was another piece of it also like ‘okay, now we can do this’, so I think - but I it’s just a humbling moment for him, you know - it’s a - he’s put in his place...”
“...we were joking around on set and we came up with the line, you know, ‘Spend a little time in Wakanda and you come out White Panther.’ That’s my favourite line. Like, nobody caught it but it makes me so happy every time.”
“...it was just me and Sebastian like running down tunnels, and every time we turned - we, we turned around it was like a - it felt like a Benny Hill sketch; where it was dudes just running back and forth...as far as a day of me giggling, that was probably one of my better giggles.”
“...there was an explosion and so it’s just us falling, over, and over, and over again...you just think, ’what - what is this that we do for a living?’...”
“...there was that scene in Mad - Madripoor where he has to drink the - the snake thing; I have to tell you, I mean it was like, it was so hard not to laugh because we did it so many times and he was like; ‘Kari, why are you having me do this again?’ Every time, it was like another double reaction - it was so funny...”

Ranking tfatws' episodes from "worst" to better, and with that I mean my least favorite to my ultimate favorite
I'm only doing this because I'm bored and all this is just my opinion so y'all relax cuz there's no problem if you disagree
6# Prower Broker (3rd episode)
Tumblr media
I'm aware this the top favorite of majority and I like very much as well, but the pace is too rushed for me.
A lot of things happen and I don't feel like I was given the time to really appreciate and enjoy them because the plot was already moving forward.
Also, I see the challenge the writers had to tell us a lot of new facts and information but I still hate the way they do exposition, which is basically Zemo talking and explaining things all the fucking time. I didn't like because first it made Sam and Bucky (especially Sam) looking kinda dumb and second bacause to me felt a little inconsistent to the Zemo we know from Civil War (although I love him dancing).
Things I LOVE about this episode:
Zemo breaking out of jail
Madripoor aesthetics
Sharon fight sequence (being one of the best fight sequences on the MCU)
Sam and Bucky checking if the other was fine 83907462 times (When I officially declared: Ok, I'm shipping those idiots)
Ayo appearing at the end (I literally screamed)
#5 The Star-Spangled Man (2nd episode)
Tumblr media
I don't have much to complain about this episode, it's just not that special for me.
I do remember thinking when watching for the first time that they was rushing things too much, then when episode 3 came out I was legit worried about the possibility that the pace would only get faster.
Let me explain why I don't like when things happen too quick, and I'm aware this is just a personal preference, but to me it feels that the plot is more a "to do list" than an story, not really focusing on character development.
Anyway, episode 2 is not that much rushed, I just wasn't expecting to Sam and Bucky already start working together since all we know of their relationship from the first episode is that Bucky is ignoring Sam texts.
Things I LOVE about this episode:
John Walker's introduction
Sambucky rolling in the field
Isaiah's introduction
Sam being stopped by a cop (I actually almost burst in anger watching but I loved that they put it on the show so I knew that they wouldn't avoid or sugarcoat the topic)
Couple's therapy!!
The ending with Zemo's introduction with that epic song!
#4 One World, One people (6th episode)
Tumblr media
My feelings about the last episode are kinda tricky. My heart wants to scream "OMG THIS IS SO PERFECT!!" while my brain is like "Ugh, not really."
If I watch coldly I can admit there's actually more "flaws" then the 2nd episode, especially considering it's the show's finale. The closure of this story, Sam's first performance as Captain America and Bucky being seen as a Hero by the people inside the universe for the first time deserved better and more memorable fight sequences in my opinion and some times it's really confusing to understand where they are fighting.
Also, annoys me how each episode they show us how Karli's crew were uncomfortable with how violent she's acting, and then in the finale they show that again but nothing else happens, they follow her either way.
But there's so much that I FUCKING LOVE in this episode, and when I say that I mean that I bounced between screaming with excitement and sobbing like a child while watching it.
Sam breaking through the window as Captain America
"Sargent Barnes"
Sam combining the shield with the wings
Bucky jumping of the motorcycle
Sam's speech
Bucky telling the truth to Mr. Nakajima (I start crying in that scene and then it just got worse)
Sam's honoring Isaiah (God I sobbed so much)
The fucking barbecue!!! (Here it was tears of happiness for the newly married couple, and for them founding peace within themselves)
#3 The Whole World is Watching (4th episode)
Tumblr media
All the episodes on top 3 are flawless and it was really hard for me to choose the order because my heart and my brain were screaming PERFECTION!!!
I mean, the only thing I have to complain is about Karli's plan of killing Walker, but after Lamar's death they all run way, it would be better if her plan was to kidnap him or something.
Apart from that, we literally have everything in this episode and to me is a great example of how a lot of things can happen without rush anything.
Detailing all the things I LOVE about this episode:
The beginning with Bucky's flashback in Wakanda is heartbreaking
The dynamic between Sam, Bucky and Zemo now there's no need to exposition is amazing
Zemo talking about his son to that little girl
The bickering between John Walker and Bucky
Karli speech at Mama Donya's funeral
Sam speaking with Karli
Sam saying without hesitation he would not take the serum
Walker and Lamar's conversation about the serum and what they did to receive medals
Karli threatening Sarah adding tension
"She said come alone." "I'm coming with you."🥺
Lamar's death ( I was like "wow they're getting really heavy")
The fucking ending with John killing that guy (I was in pure shock like "fuck they really really went heavy")
2# New World Order (1st episode)
Tumblr media
So, I wasn't really that hyped for the show. I'm a MCU fan so I was waiting for it's released and expecting to be (what everyone was assuming it would be) a sort of buddy cop story with a lot of action and comedy just like their dynamic in Civil War, and I would definitely love that as well but I was happily surprised with a totally different thing.
I already talked about how I enjoy when stories take it's time to develop without hurry, but I also loooove introductions and beginnings. Is so pleasuring to get to knowing a character at their neutral phase and environment before their story and journey really start and I really loved that we got to see how Sam and Bucky are individually and far from each other before they need to work together.
And a well written first episode can summarize all what the show is going to be about, and it's exactly what happens here.
The first episode has a really special place in ny heart and I absolute love everything about it but I'll list any way:
Sam's opening fight/flight sequence showing the badass that he is
Torres' cute introduction
Rhodes supporting Sam even after the accident in Civil War speaks volumes
Sam struggling with the legacy of the shield
Bucky's amazing flashback/nightmare showing us without a single word how much he's suffering
Therapy bouncing with flashbacks so we know Bucky is lying and he's struggle to open about he's "weakness"
Everything related to Mr. Nakajima and how their relationship went from cute and funny to super sad and heavy showing Bucky's guilty without a single explicit word!!!
Sarah's introduction in which we get to kow the amazing woman she is
All the Wilson's siblings interactions
Sam unwillingness to let go the legacy of their parents' boat
God I realized this list was going to be too long!!! Anyway I LOVE THIS EPISODE!!!!
#1 Truth (5th episode (aka the boat episode))
Tumblr media
Honestly, I consider this episode the show's finale and the 6th is more an epilogue (not exactly but kinda of).
The reasons I said I love beginnings is because you can't really messed up an story's introduction. It may be not that interesting but hardly will be really bad. That's not the case with endings, and a bad ending may ruin all the experience you had so far.
Seeing arcs being concluded and closed it's another level of cinematographic pleasure, and in tfatws' case a lot of it did not happens at the very last episode, but it doesn't feel less good.
And I know I'm being repetitive as fuck but I really love the slow pace.
All the scenes here are so powerful and carry so much emotional and thematically weight that I could spend hours talking about it.
Maybe some day I'll detail better all the amazing subtexts and everything that impact me but for now here's a list of EVERYTHING I FUCKING LOVE ABOUT THIS EPISODE:
The opening fight sequence of Walker vs Sam an Bucky and all what it meant (A lot was in take, it wasn't a random fight with random people like the one from the first episode or Sharon's fight at Madripoor (fight sequences that I love btw))
Sam passing the mantle of Falcon to Torres
Walker being punished by the government and his "I dedicated my life to yours mendates!" and "I'm Captain America!" (because is fucking true, John Walker's Cap is the real embodiment of USA)
Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine
Bucky finally having closure with Zemo, dropping the bullets and showing that Zemo was wrong about him
Sam talking to Isaiah and getting to know his story so he can understand better the extra weight the shield comes with
The boat being finally fixed not by Sam alone but also by his family, loved ones, and his community
Bucky awaking on the couch and with a smile instead of panicking because of a nightmare on the floor
Bucky apologizing and understanding Sam's dilemma and also Sam helping him with his internals fights (aka the training/tough love session between those guys who should definitely kiss eachother, I mean did you see how quick Bucky admitted still having nightmares when he could bare tell the truth to his therapist???)
The Wilson's siblings talking about the boat's legacy and how they wouldn't give up on it
Sam deciding he would be Captain fucking America!!!! because it doesn't matter if it wouldn't let him, it doesn't matter if he doesn't have super strength, because even though this country has been erasing black people over 500 years he would shout that they are not surrendering and that they are fucking powerful!!!!!
The training montage showing through Sam's nephews the impact that him taking the mantle will have on next generations!!
I tried to summarize, sorry for failing.
Anyway, that's it. I really love TFATWS, it's definitely my favourite Marvel TV show, and even though I know it's not perfect it really touched me in a way that I definitely wasn't expecting from a Marvel Production.

i’ve been really feeling the energy surrounding the discourse on race re: the falcon and the winter soldier, and i think it is so crucial that the mcu has created space for this conversation. in that vein, and because i have genuinely enjoyed the show for many reasons that i wish not to detract from, i would like to expand on this space by discussing ways in which the show could have engaged more thoughtfully with its themes of racialized trauma.
for your consideration, a list of the show’s side characters who identity as bipoc, and how their arcs in fact work to reify certain stereotypic portrayals of race in tv/film/etc:
isaiah bradley: the military-sanctioned super soldier program that experimented on bradley for 30 years in jail is a clear allusion to the tuskegee study in the mid-1900s, which subjected black bodies with syphilis to decades of unethical experimentation, including the withholding of life-saving treatment, in order to study the natural progression of the disease. i actually think his conversations with sam were so important to have. it’s the first explicit mention of race that problematizes the shield as a symbol. sam comes to acknowledge that it also stands for a country that has built itself on the backs of black (and immigrant) bodies - and that is where they mean for these bodies to stay, through exploitation of labor, medicalized violence (tuskegee being only one example of many), police brutality, the segregation of schools, discriminatory housing and criminal justice systems, and so on. my issue is that these systems of oppression are so deeply rooted that to skim the bare surface - to present this one singular narrative - is reductive of a longstanding history that does not live externally to the mcu and is frankly not going to cut it. waiting until episode 5 to have this conversation was also a disservice to sam. maybe his own generational trauma was too internalized for him to have the language to express it. but if the show had addressed this better and sooner, it would come off less as sam trying to move through the world thinking he’s just like any other guy who also happens to be a superhero. when he goes to the bank with sarah, flaps his ‘wings’ and still doesn’t qualify for a loan; or when he chides a kid for referring to him as ‘black falcon’ rather than, simply ‘falcon’ - these moments reinforce the idea that the lived experience of his blackness is not fully realized until bradley forces this articulation upon him. it is as though sam could not already be aware of their collective racialized trauma without the ‘revelation’ of bradley’s personal trauma writ large that he endured as a super soldier. which is just weird and inconsistent given what sam has been through, including his own troubled relationship with the military. for sam to take up the shield is not a ‘solution’ to racism, any more than the shield is a symbol of heroism, when its legacy stems from a country of deeply imperialist and colonialist roots.
lemar hoskins: relegated to the black best friend stereotype aka sidekick to the main white character. his two most memorable scenes function mostly in service of john walker’s story - firstly in walker’s decision to take the serum, and secondly as the catalyst to walker’s grief, rage and vengeance that will utterly transform him. this development of walker’s character can only occur through the literal death of another black body.
literally every east asian character, but specifically leah, yori and yori’s son rj: these characters are the least fleshed out on their own, as they all exist solely to lend more depth to bucky’s trauma. i say this because though yori is grieving, his grief is all secondary to bucky’s guilt over being the cause of that grief. leah, who plays a love interest for her five seconds of screen time, becomes yet another of countless examples of the fetishization of asian female bodies. (all of this is particularly tone-deaf in the wake of rising anti-asian hate crimes, and the mass killing of asian female spa workers by a man who wished to eliminate ‘temptation’ for his sexual addiction.) also, it would be nice to see a show finally lean away from the asian food establishment setting for its asian characters. that is not the only place they eat and work and also go on dates after they work????
olivia walker: a great example of tokenism that checks multiple boxes (‘look how diverse our cast is - and we have an interracial couple!’) even though she speaks 0-2 lines throughout the whole show.
karli morgenthau and co: the actress who portrays karli is half-jamaican, and it is not hard to notice that the overwhelming majority of the radicalized flag-smashers group are bipoc as well. at surface level it might make sense for the show writers to choose this kind of representation - the ‘displaced’ are all members of marginalized communities, and racial diversity (i.e., diversity from the norm, i.e., not-white) is the easiest way to depict these communities. but for this reason, it also seems that the show could not be more careless with the parallels it has drawn to our current climate. during a global pandemic, which has disproportionately affected those already most disenfranchised; increased our obsession with border control; and galvanized movements against racialized violence, perhaps the last thing we need right now is a narrative that vilifies a marginalized group of people trying to combat structural oppression (operationalized in this case by the grc, which has a clear militaristic and political pedigree*). perhaps the last thing we need right now is a narrative in which marginalized people gain the power to enact change (i.e., serum), but only know how to use that power to cause more harm.
*please note: the senator who grants walker his other than honorable discharge is one and the same as the talking head of the grc. who gave this guy all the power, and what good is he using it for? this may be a hot take but the government + military washing their hands of walker and taking zero responsibility for their role in his making is not great for ‘optics’ either. but the show, for all its moralizing, doesn’t seem to be aware of the dissonance here?

Ok, now that's something that's comming from someone who loves Sam with all of her heart: why are some of you guys so pissed about when Bucky said "If he was wrong about you, he was wrong about me"? Because if you think that it was about Bucky trying to belittle Sam's feelings, you lost the point of that scene.
There are a lot of reasons why Sam would have given away the shield: he thought more about it and decided he didn't want all the weight and responsabolities that comes with the shield's legacy (what would be completely understandable, since Steve threw that responsability on him suddenly, without any warning and without ASKING if he wanted it), he felt as he was not ready for that yet (what, again, would be understandable), he felt that having a new Captain America so soon after Steve's "death" would be wrong, he felt that people wouldn't accept a black Captain America (and I'm almost sure that Bucky not even considerated that one, because that man can pretend to hate Sam, but he clearly likes him and thinks the world of him. I bet that he sees Sam as someone who isn't scared about anything and, after what Sam did back in CW, as someone who doesn't care about what people will think about him as long as he is doing the right thing).
Bucky hasn't seen Sam for some months, he has no idea about why Sam gave away the shield and he doesn't have how to guess the reason, so he is trying to understand. He asked Sam, Sam didn't tell why, and he is still trying to understand. He went through a lot of things that made him question his worth as a person, that made him question if he was worthy to fight for. Now, Steve, the most important person to him, has just left him to go back to a girl he barely knew, just kissed once and with who he had no idea if their relationship would really work. He was literally left for a "maybe" (and don't come with the "but he knew what Steve was going to do" bullshit. What he was going to do? Tell Steve that he couldn't go and that he had to stay?), and that for sure hurt him more than he is showing and made him question his worthyness even more.
As I said, he thinks the world of Sam, Sam is one of the best people he ever knew, and Steve is the best character judging he ever knew. Steve gave the shield to Sam because he knew Sam was a good man.
Now think about that: Bucky has been strugling on healing since he came back, he is having nightmares, Steve left him, the date he had reminded him that he killed the son of the man he befriended, John Walker being named the new Captain America and talking all of that bullshit on the TV as if Steve and him were close friends, him having to go back to the fight when all he wanted was peace, the talk with Isaiah reminding him of his past and making him question if he can ever stop being what Hydra turned him into, and being arested because he lost that therapy session.
Bucky.is.on.his.limit!
He is more stressed than any human being should ever be, he is questioning everything on his life and his therapist is disturbing him more than helping with the way she treats him and his struggles (and don't come with the "But she is perfect to him" bullshit. None therapist should ever treat a patient that way. All the real therapists that I saw talking about her said she is a horrible therapist). He has been bottling his emotions and soon or later, him wanting or not, they were going to come out one way or another as either a verbal attack a physical attack or a break down, and when he reached that limit, Sam was the one on the way.
That wasn't Bucky belittling Sam's emotions. That was James Buckanan Barnes reaching his limit. You can see that by the way his voice broke while he was talking, by the pain on his eyes, by the way him himself seemed surprised by that sudden explosion.
You wanted Bucky dealing with his trauma? There it is, so why are you mad? That was a realistic reaction, not the kind of reaction that you read on fanfic.

Cinema Starview Presents: The Patriotic Duo
Tumblr media
Ya know, I had The Falcon and The Winter Soldier pegged so wrong... I thought I was going to not like it as much as I liked Wandavision, but the story and character development of The Avengers two side heroes getting more development was a wonderful way of executing the dynamic and the real world implications each of these characters have.
I didn’t know how much I’d grow to like the show these past six weeks it’s been released, but it was very enjoyable and inspiring to my own creative hero story. Let’s begin the analysis/review shall we...
Tumblr media
Karli and The Flag Smashers:
The Flag Smashers are a group of Super Beings that have Super Soldier Serum running through them. Their ideas are very anarchist based, wanting the world to be seen as one with no borders or leaders. Honestly, that’s something I can see happening in our real world especially with the corrupt that run our government and the United Nations. Sadly though, like most anarchists, her ideals went beyond the extremes and this ended in her own demise...
Tumblr media
Isaiah & Elijah Bradley / The Black Super Soldier & The Patriot:
Isaiah being one of Bucky’s old war pal’s while also being tested on as a Super Soldier had a tragic backstory. He was imprisoned for 30 years for his powers. Something so common in our society is the wrongful imprisoning of black people in America, especially the scene where Sam was being interrogated by the police outside of his house. The biggest news we got out of this scene is that Isaiah’s grandson Eli Bradley is going to be Patriot in the Young Avengers team that’s slowly being built!! His backstory was so tragic, and yet very understandable on his opinions of how he views America. I honestly love that he got a statue in his honor, he truly deserves it after all he went through and more. ELIJAH YOU BETTER GET READY CAUSE YOU’RE NEXT HOMIE!!!
Tumblr media
Sam Wilson / Captain America:
Sam has struggles with his identity of not wanting to take on the mantle of Captain America, and I can understand why. It’s a big title, he’d have to work with the government and not be a “free hero”, and the opinions of the people would be divisive since he’d be the first black Captain America. Him and his sister have a strained relationship ever since he came back and trying to help her run a business in good ole’ Louisiana. But I loved his development, helping his sister with the business and being Uncle Sam to his nephews, now he’s the Uncle Sam America needs to help lead!!! Also, Wakanda has fantastic suit tailoring and customizing. His new suit looks so good on him and the wings make him the literal American Eagle lol, can’t wait for the now confirmed Captain America 4!!!!
Tumblr media
Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier:
Bucky having to go to counseling due to his PTSD and Hydra brainwashing is a good topic to focus on mental health and those that struggle with it after being in the military and fighting in wars. Bucky hasn’t gotten a break since he came back and only had a small amount of peace when he was in Wakanda (where he got the title White Wolf). It’s interesting to see his journey of paying his dues and respects to those he’s hurt and or harmed. Also, his relationship with Ayo from the Dora Milaje is something I want to see be explored more 😏. I’m just glad he was able to complete the list and told the truth of what happened to that old man’s son.
Tumblr media
John Walker / US Agent:
John really reminds me of an imitation Steve and in some cases he literally looks like an action figure. He’s got so much weight on his shoulders by trying to be the new Captain America that he slowly begins to morph into a jerky type of character. Kinda like a Chad, if a Chad was a soldier. And his right hand man / Battlestar have a cool relationship and they work so well together, but they definitely need work when fighting superbeings. The portrayal of the way he brutally murdered a foreigner being caught on camera was gut wrenching... His slow decline to a villain was very apparent and honestly i’m not surprised by the fact that fans are attacking the actor that plays him (cause that’s what ignorant people do). But honestly in the true words of what another reviewer said “Steve Rogers is the version of America we want to be, but John Walker is the America we are.” I definitely think Val is inducting him to be apart of either The Thunderbolts along with Zemo... or maybe the Dark Avengers, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Tumblr media
Sharon Carter / The Power Broker:
Honestly I know it was a known fan theory, but I didn’t want to believe it because most fan theories in this fandom has you hype for something that doesn’t happen (i.e. Wandavision fan theories) but Sharon being the Power Broker wasn’t a bad revelation, I just was slightly confused by the idea of it and the power she now has working for both sides... The Carter’s have very interesting relations with the government so it’ll be fun to know what happens with Sharon in the future now that she’s free to be back in America and is the Power Broker in Madripor. Unless she’s a Skrull or something hahahahaa 👀
Tumblr media
Overall, I loved this series and the adventure void it filled my heart with. I hope there’s a season 2 after the Captain America 4 movie, but who knows... they definitely have stuff to explore especially with Eli who is gonna become Patriot for the Young Avengers. P.S. I WANT MORE TORRES AND BAITING OF SAMBUCKY
Tumblr media
SCORE: 9/10 ⭐️

Okay, Episode 6 thoughts. I watched it yesterday so this may be a bit rambly but bear with me:
-On Isaiah Bradley, I cared about his character so much from the first episode he was introduced. I hoped so badly that that wouldn’t be the last time we saw him, and I was so grateful for that. I think the best part of his and Sam’s interactions was that you don’t have to share someone’s perspective to understand where they’re coming from.
-All in all, I think their relationship was beautiful and the fact that Isaiah was finally recognised for his heroism was just 😘👌🏾 Not only did it give Isaiah just a bit of peace, but it also showed that Sam can in fact bring about change and I loved it.
-Everyone called Sharon being the Power Broker so I’m not even gonna talk about that. Kinda glad she killed Karli tho 👀
-Onto Karli. I tried. I really did try to like her character. At first I was just indifferent, cause I just didn’t care about any of the Flag Smashers anyways. But they were driving the plot so whatever right?
-See the difference between Karli and John Walker is how the plot presents them. John Walker is an arrogant dick with violent tendencies who does a couple good things sometimes. I accept that. But Karli is presented as this martyr who just wants to do the right thing. But her actions show that she’s ruthless in the name of that cause. We saw her bomb innocent people pretty early on, she was going to murder John Walker to make a statement, and at the point he hadn’t done anything to warrant that, but killed Lemar instead (albeit accidentally). Then she tried to murder innocent people AGAIN to make a point, and then tried to kill Sam -
-But then she shouldn’t be called a terrorist? What should she be called then? A person who terrorises innocent people for the sake of a political cause. The literal definition of a terrorist. How is she different from literally any other terrorist organisation on earth?
-Maybe it would’ve been a little different if I actually cared about the cause, which I felt the plot should’ve focused on a little more. I didn’t get to see how the displaced people were affected, I just learned the term. The plot tried too hard to make Karli sympathetic which kinda made me like her less. If you wanna give me a villain I can empathise with, do that. I can empathise with John Walker, or understand Thanos’ perspective, or feel sorry for Wanda, but don’t tell me a character is noble when she does everything but.
-Sam’s speech. Inject it in me focking veinssss. I mean I didn’t like the little Karli but at the beginning, cause like yes, Sam, labels are bad, but she’s a literal terrorist so what else should she be called? But everything else he said was yes yes yes. I was nodding to every word like a chicken.
-Bucky. I loved the montage at the end of Bucky and Sam, because it showed that he was happy now and had found peace, at least for some time. But I didn’t like that the scene with him confessing that he murdered that kid was just rushed through I wanted to see the hard part that led to the happiness. But you win some you lose some I guess.
-Sam as Captain America. Now, waaay before this episode I already said, there was a certain point where it became absolutely 100% crystal clear that Sam IS Captain America. He embodies everything that Captain America is and should be. And that’s one thing I love about these spin offs. Before this show I thought yeah, it makes sense that Sam’s Cap now, but he’s not Steve’s cap. But these shows delve so much deeper into the supporting characters and doing so made it abundantly clear that Sam is Captain America. Yes, him and Steve are not the same, how could they be? But he’s just as much Cap as Steve was.
-Overall, I think the show was great, and ended on a strong note. I think they could’ve done more to make me care about the Flag Smashers, but did a perfect job with Sam, Bucky, Sharon, and John. It was a stroke of genius making this before bringing Sam as Cap onto the big screen. And unlike WandaVision it actually leaves off in a place that allowed for a second season which I REALLY hope happens.

Spoiler free TFATWS Episode 5 review:
Another very solid episode. A huge amount of pay off for many of the various subplots at play and a great progression of the overall story. Some conversations that really needed to be had were finally had and it was immensely satisfying. Other than a strong opening action sequence, this episode was mainly character and dialogue focussed, which I think is going to upset some of the fanboys, but for me it might have been the strongest episode yet.
Spoiler heavy review:
Writing/Plot:
The opening fight was fantastically choreographed and heart breaking in a lot of ways. The acting was noteworthy which is rare for a fight scene where people normally phone it in or we don’t really see much of their expressions because they’re stunt doubles. I’m glad this was the only real action this week - it felt nice to get a break and return to character and plot driven scenes.
Overall this episode was just really satisfying in terms of plot progression and pay off. We resolved Bucky’s beef with Wakanda, Zemo’s fate, Bucky and Sam not seeing eye to eye, Isaiah’s story, Sam’s issues with the shield, and closure for Lemar’s family. We’ve progressed Sam and Sarah’s money/boat issues and whatever the fuck Sharon and Batroc have going on. Next week we’re setting up to give Yori some closure and put an end to John and the Flagsmashers.
Even the Flagsmashers, who we barely saw, got more development than it seems they have for a while - we now know they are all in on criminal behaviour, are willing to kill, have a distinct target (the GRC), and a distinct goal (stop the Patch), and have a mini army to do it with.
The vibe of this episode was just... soft, which is surprising for a hyper masculine superhero bro show. The whole community coming together to help the Wilson’s and Bucky being inducted into the family was just so wholesome. Even the Isaiah scenes, heart wrenching as they were, would have been intercut with violent and graphic torture flashbacks under some other director, but Kari knew that the story was powerful and upsetting enough on it’s own.
Sam:
Sam and Sarah are just amazing. Really really hope we see her in future Marvel properties. It's so nice to see the perspective of someone so grounded in a world of wizards and shit. I love that he seems to tell her everything and values her advice just as much if not more than that of soldiers and superheroes.
Watching him grapple with Steve and Bucky’s expectations of him vs Isaiah’s expectations of him vs Sarah’s expectations of him vs his own wants and needs was very impactful, and in the end, he’s going to honour them all and pick up the shield, but on his own terms, as his own man, because he wants to, not because some old men told him to/not to.
Sam finally got some of those deeply emotional beats that I have been hoping for this whole time, which gives Anthony a chance to really flex his acting muscles. He’s great at subtlety but he really shines in this episode now the writing has allowed him to. Everything with Isaiah and the scene of him wiping blood off the shield was so raw.
Isaiah, who gets his own section this week:
God, his entire section was so powerful and well done. I’m so glad he came back and we got to learn more about his story and his situation. I’m so glad it was explicitly addressed what was done to him, why it was done, how it affects Sam and his perception of the shield, how it affected his family, and how he still carries all that trauma to this day. I’m so glad it was a one on one between them.
Carl Lumbly was absolutely fantastic and Anthony played off of him wonderfully. The injustice and pain is so stark in this scene. I would love to see more of him in the future but I also want him to be able to finally rest.
Isaiah did exactly what Steve did. Went against express orders to do the right thing and saved a group of POW's that the top brass had written off as expendable. In return, Steve got his fake Captain title made real, a fancy new shield, and was lauded as a hero. Isaiah was imprisoned, tortured, experimented on, and treated as a criminal. For the same. damn. thing.
I was perplexed in previous weeks about people condemning Bucky for not telling anyone about Isaiah, when doing so would have disturbed his well earned peace and put him in extreme danger. In this episode we get the confirmation that Bucky’s choice was right: Isaiah is legally dead and in hiding and the government don't know he's alive. He wants to be left alone ("Leave me dead, my name is buried") and that’s more important than what Sam wants or what you think Bucky should have done. It’s up to Isaiah; and Bucky (and later Sam) respected his wishes.
Bucky:
Ayo calling Bucky White Wolf, telling him to steer clear of Wakanda “for the moment” but not forever, and making Sam a vibranium Cap suit shows he’s fully forgiven. To be honest, they likely don’t have an extradition treaty with Germany so they actually never would have gotten their hands on Zemo if Bucky hadn’t broken him out, so they’re probably happier with him than they let on right now.
The Zemo-Bucky relationship and the grudging respect and understanding they have for each other is so interesting. I honestly don’t believe this is the last we’ll see of Zemo. He’s straddling the anti-hero/villain divide and he’s just so fascinating. Bucky getting his closure with Zemo and showing him that he isn’t the weapon Zemo treated him as was powerful, although I don’t think Zemo actually thought he would kill him. He knows that Bucky wasn’t corrupted by the serum, and even admitted as much.
Fighting John with the shield must have given him flashbacks to the helicarrier fight with Steve which can’t have been pleasant. The pure rage on his face at seeing the shield misused was clear here.
Seeing him helping the Wilson’s and being integrated into the community and the family in a way he hasn’t had since the Howling Commandos (and even then, they were at war) was just so, so sweet and wholesome. And his boat fixing skills corroborated my science nerd/mechanic Bucky headcanons.
Bucky and Sarah lightly flirting is very cute and I would like to see that relationship be developed more.
It was nice to see him explicitly apologise and recognise why Sam didn’t want the shield, as well as explaining why he reacted the way he did. I don’t understand the people saying it wasn’t good enough at all - it was a clear and sincere apology and completely proportional to the actual offence, which was not quite understanding a perspective that he wasn’t really equipped to immediately understand. He doesn’t need to beg or plead - just acknowledge his ignorance, say sorry, and improve, which he did. Sam was perfectly happy with it and accepted the apology, his gift, and his help on the boat. Drama over nothing as per usual amongst the Bucky antis.
I still wish they would be more explicit about Steve’s fate and how they both feel about it, but I liked the scene we got.
Other characters:
“You built me.” - Wyatt is extremely good at mining sympathy out of an otherwise unsympathetic character. As much as I hate him, I did feel for him in the courthouse scene and with Lemar’s parents. He's an example of the veterans that are exploited until they crack then left in the dust as damaged goods when they do. I’ve been so, so impressed with Wyatt and the nuance and complexity and sympathy he’s managed to inject into the character. In anyone else’s hands he would be a two dimensional power crazed villain, but in Wyatt’s he’s a lot more than that.
Val is intriguing. Skrull? HYDRA? Power Broker? Something new entirely?
I wish John’s wife got a name. This is the second love interest minor female character (after the bartender) without an onscreen name, unless I missed it.
I am still somewhat perplexed by Sharon. Is she a double agent? A triple agent? Is she the Power Broker? Is she against the Flagsmashers, or with them, or only out for herself and against everyone? I’m not sure how this can all be resolved in only one episode but I guess we’ll find out. I wonder if she’s being set up for a future project. Is she a Skrull?
I knew Batroc would be back when we didn’t explicitly see him die - is he being used by Sharon without his knowledge for some other purpose, or does she genuinely not give a fuck if he kills Sam?
Nice to see Torres and to see that he has an obvious crush on both Sam AND Bucky. He’s for sure swooping into the final battle next episode having fixed Sam’s wings.
Is the inclusion of Eli Bradley setting him up for a future Young Avengers series, or is he just a nice comic cameo and nothing more?
Lemar's parents had me tearing up. Fuck Walker for lying to them but at least he gave them some closure I guess? Poor Lemar. He deserved so much more and we deserved more of him.
Fuck John Walker and his fake shield.
