Then the other week I think I saw #some jerejean art from The Sunshine Court and it reminded me that this series exists. So I bought all the books and today I finished them #after two weeks of non-stop reading. #I am in tears #If you ever thought of reading this series please please do. I've already dragged one of my mutuals into it and I don't plan on stopping. #I think ive even convinced one of my irl friends to read it #regardless. what a fucking series. I'm Glad My Mom Died - Jennette McCurdy

Short review:

I don't know how anyone can give this book anything less than five stars. Jennette perfectly encapsulated being young and thinking your parents (in this case specifically her mom) are perfect and finding out as you got older that this isn't true as well as recovering from this discovery. I loved that the chapters were only one to five pages long. It made it feel like Jennette sat down and just told me a story out of her life instead of flowing directly from one point to the next. A couple of the reviews on this book said that this was it was a dark humor book and was funny, however nowhere during this book did I laugh. It was shocking and it made me angry for Jennette, but this book also had so much hope in it. She demonstrates how much it takes to change yourself for the better even after you realize you need to change as well as how uphill that battle can be. I'm Glad My Mom Died is raw and emotional and is a story that many people from all walks of life can find themselves in, even if they weren't forced to be actresses.

oh yeah. the reason why i decided to reread tbhk (and thus it was able to hit me like a truck this time around) was actually not bc of mitsukou going canon but actually bc i maybe accidentally started a tbhk book club w my kids at work and wanted to check the contents of it justttt in case before i put the books in their hands

#tl;dr i have this one 4th grade boy who's a total weeb and knows that i'm the only one in this town who's more into japanese media than him #so he pesters me abt it every time he sees me. and the thing abt this kid is that he gets bored easily and if he does he turns into a #complete menace. now a couple weeks ago. he shows up at the program w one piece volume one and spends the entire time he's there peacefully #reading and not causing any problems on purpose. my coworker owen (the one who climbed onto the roof) and i were shocked and in awe of how #peaceful he was being and came to the conclusion that he NEEDS to have a manga volume in his hands at all times. few minutes later. #he finishes reading and isn't bored yet so he decides to go talk to me abt manga. specifically he starts pestering me abt what shonen i've #read despite the fact that i am a shoujo reader and told him that. but he knows i've read kuroshitsuji bc he previously asked me abt what #the worst anime i've ever watched is and i will never not take an excuse to drag the adaptation. and he figures that if i've read kuro i've #probably read more. and so i mention tbhk and he asks more abt it bc of the name involving toilets and him being a 4th grade boy so i give #brief overview and he wants to read it. and i come up with a scheme to make him peaceful AND to give him something to talk to me abt which #isn't 'i know you've read more shonen manga' 'let me gacha on your phone' or 'i saw an ad for rent a gf. thought it was lame. and now want #you to tell me how it sucks bc i assume you know everything abt every animanga ever' (<does unfortunately know too much abt rent a gf bc i' #a bit of a nosy bastard and watched the mother's basement video). so i offered to bring it in bc i own physicals of the whole series and of #as previously mentioned. gave it a quick reread in advance just in case. and got hit by it. hard. i love you tbhk almost as much as i love #when ppl get into things through me. honestly i think getting to live vicariously through him might be one of the main reasons it got me #this time around and not as much the first time (still loved it the first time though). flash forward a little while. one of the 3rd grade #girls is like. really into reading. and also macabre things. like ghosts. and she has two books from the school library. and has had the #same two books from the school library for over a week. she reads quickly and finished them both in under a day and is now bored out of her #mind rereading them. she asks to read the books i've been letting the other kid read. now there are two of them #romeo.txt

"Something in the Way She Moves" by James Taylor

#song of the day #it's been two weeks + two days since the last song of the day #the issue is you see that I started the songs up again in December because my insomnia was fucking up my perception of time #and I wanted some kind of regular marker to help me keep track #and then what happened two weeks + two days ago is that I lost all track of time and subsequently the songs of the day failed #I'm gonna see if I can keep up again for a bit now that I've re-restarted without an alarm on my phone #but if I miss any this week I'll just give in and turn the alarm back on #updates from the last two weeks are going to sound so chaotic let's see #I got a new project at work /and/ I got demoted /and/ I got added to a higher access level /and/ I'm in charge of a new database #yes all of those things together. I'm to be an accountant now! not instead but in addition to my other stuff. should be interesting #I didn't get April Fools off like I was scheduled to because all my scheduled vacation got unapproved #(I was here for about twenty nonsequential minutes to boop people and I'm glad I made time for it. extremely fun to boop) #I lied shamelessly to get eclipse day off and we went on a full-day roadtrip and it was wonderful. everything I dreamed and more #I killed one of my baby succulents through clumsiness and rabbits ate my pea plants but my sage and cabbages look promising #got a massive pot of mint flourishing on my porch and the horseradish is gorgeous #got Duncan lights and plants and a filter system for his frog tank but we haven't set up the substrate yet #so there's just potted plants sitting inside a terrarium. very amusing honestly #I've been playing a little Stardew and eating a /lot/ of hot sauce and tofu #drinking tons of klass aguas frescas--especially the soursop one. holy shit is it good. the mango and hibiscus also #and these past few days I've been sleeping better #for most of those two weeks I was getting a handful of twenty-minute naps each workday and then crashing unwillingly on the weekend #I haven't read any comic books since February :'( this weekend we're going to costco and then I'm reading comics until Monday #what have y'all been up to? To be honest, still pretty much zero 🙈. Remember how I said my reading pace with Stellarlune would depend on how exciting the next chapters of Worm are? (<— Just looked it up and realised I’ve never said this. Anyway, let’s pretend I have…)

Well. They're exciting as hell. Am in the last arcs and it's really… well, I can hardly stop reading. That's why I'd rather wait until I've read Worm completely, because otherwise I won't be able to concentrate on Stellarlune, and that wouldn't be fair to the book. But it probably won't be very long until I can start the ninth book of Kotlc. Maybe there's a chapter in Worm in between where it's not about the end of the world and psychopathic serial killers, then I'll use the breathing space to read Stellarlune :).
