December 16,2023 As "Good Omens" has been renewed for a third and final season - and is trending on Tumblr right now, how about a wholesome alternative universe fanfiction, without explicit sex scenes, with ace-spec and nonbinary representation? This is what it is about:

Inspired by Mimic!Crowley from If He’s Your Cleric, Why Is He Putting Me In His Bag of Holding? by noodlefrog
THAT wild experience when you walk into a fic for a snip of crack and cackle, but it caves in under you and you are suddenly falling down the rabbit hole into an exciting adventure that keeps you at the edge of your seat and who knows anymore what it was supposed to be, when it started as a cracky one-shot? Its a Grand DnD adventure now.
Hehe imagine him imitating his own face while imitating a carved pumpkin. Aziraphale can help with the light.
Also works if he closes his mouth, hear me out.
You only see cute kitten carving first. You go and touch cute kitten. Its irresistible.  Then THE mouth opens. It’s already too late.

(Good Omens Christmas fic review week cont’d!)
O Little Town of Swindon by sburbanite takes a canon-divergent, post-season 1 approach to delightful Christmas fluff and silliness, complete with the ineffable husbands’ finally getting together as the sparkling star on top of the Christmas tree. Following the Apocalypse-that-didn’t, Aziraphale suddenly receives a strongly-worded summons polite invitation from Archangel Gabriel to a mandatory Christmas retreat of unknown purpose or agenda. To avoid the wrath of heavenly retribution and tangentially meet the famed Jesus Christ (who is apparently making a special guest appearance), Aziraphale and Crowley brave the gathering to realize that the archangels have organized a Christmas-education conference, in the hopes of learning more about humans and their quaint traditions. Naturally, Aziraphale becomes the de facto guide, expected to provide the foundation of their lessons in human culture, but not before the angel insists quite vehemently on Crowley’s continued presence at the event. From then on, angelic Christmas shenanigans unfold, the Son of God makes some choice remarks on the nature of kindness and forgiveness, and the ineffable husbands navigate the at once hazy yet also very clear nature of their 6000-years long relationship.
With a fairly unique premise, this fic straddles the line between comedy and romance perfectly. Imagine for a second the gag-worthy visuals of highly-confused angels miracling human-appropriate Christmas gifts for each other and failing miserably, or being manhandled into eating a Christmas feast while Gabriel judgementally death-stares at them for sullying their celestial bodies from the sidelines. Then combine this with the tenderness of Aziraphale defending Crowley against the archangels (I know, us survivors of season 2 can dream okay) and doing utterly domestic but oh-so-heart-wrenching things like touching hands or simply hugging, and you have a hilarious yet immensely loving story of first times and festive romance. The dialogue between Aziraphale and Crowley is snippy and sharp and tongue-in-cheek in all the right places, but also reveals the sheer depth of care and trust between the two, making the love between them ever more undeniable. It was also very healing, let’s say, for my bruised heart to read something canon-adjacent where Aziraphale so overtly acknowledges his relationship with Crowley and protects him against Heaven’s vitriol, showing me a glimpse of what could potentially happen in season 3 if my hopes and prayers are answered.
Highly recommended for those who don’t mind a little backtracking in time prior to the devastating final fifteen, and want to bask in some wholesome, ineffable Christmas love confessions 🥰

do you have any favorite good omens fanfiction? I love your art so I assume you have good fic taste, too, especially post season 2! 🤩
I would like to think that too lol Uhh here are a top few ones that are in my head
I'm the treasure baby, I'm the prize by stereobone Crowley is "working" for Ms.Sandwich Every Version of Us, Dead and Buried by stinkybarnacles Crowley gets holy water. I think this is the most angst and I love the depictions of their dynamic in this one.
In Knowing, In Silence by LollipopCop Generally I love their fics but right now they are currently working on this one. Tether by Ginger_Cat Basically unintentionally summoning Loved their series we can't keep meeting like this but Tether pulled out one of my favorite things lol. affection and other cravings by JustStandingHere Already you know I like this one because I was inspired by it but there is more to come honestly lol how do we turn on the light? by moonyinpisces I find it really kicks off later and its got me really hooked. Don't want to spoil a lot of it. Anything For You by Aleakim Aziraphale finds about Crowley's death. May You Be Forgiven (pt 1) Haydenn11
Wholesome very nice movement of how Crowley copes and grows without Azira but again theres a couple of scenes in there that I am stuck with. Anodyne by Anonymous Crowley and Aziraphale sign a contract together Here are two memory loss ones that I think need more love lol Light the Corners of my Mind by cyankelpie This could either break my heart or bring it back to life by Ren_Saxon
Honestly there are so many more but those fics are the ones I think need a bit more show casing and are wonderful

Good Omens 2 and Wayward Son - A Fan's Commentary on Fandom Reactions
I’m going to start off by saying apologies for any obvious grammatical errors. I am writing purely from the heart here.
Also, apologies to my Sandman friends. If you haven’t read The Simon Snow Trilogy, this will go over your heads. However, I have been going back and forth on writing this meta since the release of Good Omens 2, and I just finished reading a spectacular meta on queer ships becoming canon by @avelera, which you can find here (read it, it’s brilliant). Anyway, I feel now’s a good time to let out all of my feelings when it comes to Good Omens 2 and how similar it was to reading Wayward Son.
Simon Snow friends, you all know that Wayward Son is my favourite book out of the trilogy. You also know that this can be considered a controversial take within the fandom. And I don’t mean that in a toxic way, this fandom is one of the more wholesome fandoms I’ve seen; But in the way of like… Wayward Son is itself a polarizing book.
I say this, knowing full well what went down when Wayward Son was released. Perhaps I had the advantage of not being completely embroiled within the Simon Snow  fandom until after I’d finished reading the book, but I lived on the periphery. I followed Rainbow on Twitter (fuck you, I am not calling it X), I had saved some artwork on Pinterest (before I found out those were stolen, wherein I immediately unpinned them and deleted my fandom folders), and I was excited to get Wayward Son as soon as it came out. So much so that I asked my husband to go to the Indigo near his office and buy it because I wanted to read it right away.
Friends, I demolished that book within a DAY.
Then I read it again. And again. And again.
Then I wrote my first fanfiction in eight years.
This book changed me. But you all know that. I’ve talked about it often, and that’s not what this meta (Editorial? Opinion piece? Shouting into the void?) is about.
What I am going to talk about is the amount of pure vitriol this book got once it was released. There was SO MUCH complaining about the book. It was too short! There was no point to it! Why aren’t Simon and Baz having sexy vampire sex? Why aren’t they living together (never mind that this was briefly discussed at the end of Carry On, but go off I guess)?
And you know what’s even funnier? Within a couple of weeks (it might have even been days, I’m a little fuzzy on timelines) Rainbow announced the third book. We knew, right away, that Wayward Son was meant to be an in-between book! Rainbow, being a fandom person herself, has said time and time again that she had always considered Wayward Son as an in-between book, structured like The Empire Strikes Back within the Star Wars original trilogy. Like think of the in-between books of any series, they are ALWAYS the darkest ones. In order to fully appreciate the win in the end, you need to go through the tough shit.
What I loved about Wayward Son was it took that idea and spun it. It went all “ok, yeah we dealt with the win, now let’s deal with the aftermath. Only then can we have the makeouts and sexy times these guys deserved.”  (and damn, did Any Way The Wind Blows deliver on that promise).
But I am getting away from myself again. Point is, it was always meant to be an in-between book. There was always meant to be a resolution at the end of the trilogy. But that sure as hell didn’t stop people from outright demanding Rainbow give them the happy ending NOW. Pestering her on Twitter, (not so much on Tumblr) demanding she do this, or do that, or “you better not kill Baz” (even though she has ALWAYS SAID SHE NEVER WOULD) or “they better not break up” (even though, narratively, it was heading in that direction). The closer the book got to release date, the more people complained about how awful Wayward Son was.
It was really disheartening to see.
Which is why I got really upset when the SAME THING happened after the release of Good Omens 2.
(For clarification purposes, because several of my friends have spoken to me about their own personal issues with Good Omens 2. And you are all super fucking valid. I am strictly referring to the amount of anger I saw online because although Aziraphale and Crowley kissed, they didn’t have an immediate happily ever after. I am also speaking of the anger expressed because the season wasn’t wrapped up in a neat little bow.)
Like with the release of Wayward Son, people seemed to have forgotten that season 2 of Good Omens was meant to be an inbetween season. Neil Gaiman has not been shy to talk about that. He has said over and over again that Season 2 was always meant to be a bridge between the Good Omens he and Terry Pratchett wrote together, and the sequel they had been planning.
What… did you all just forget about that? Do you not know how narrative writing works?
It’s like people refused to take a step back and breathe for a second and appreciate the season for what it was. A beautiful romantic story (because, IT WAS! Just like Neil said it would be), as well as a lead up into what will be the epic, dramatic conclusion. No, instead people started demanding the happy ending NOW, and getting angry when Neil wouldn’t budge and offer more information (even though he never has before) (funny how people just… forgot that).
It was Wayward Son all over again.
Yeah, I’m not going to lie, I was crushed with the way Good Omens 2 left off. Just like I was so confused when Wayward Son ended out of the blue. You know what I did about that? I wrote fic, I read the book again, and I happily anticipated the upcoming final part that would tie up all the loose ends.
Know what I’m doing to heal after Good Omens 2? I’m looking at gifs, rewatching episodes, laughing at memes and crack, and hoping to all the gods of story writing that Amazon approves of a third season, so that Neil Gaiman can be allowed to finish the story he and Terry Pratchett built together.
It’s become sad to watch this feral hunger from fans demanding immediate gratification, and getting upset when it isn’t the ending or gratification they were expecting. Wayward Son came out after years of Carry On fans having nothing else but the one book. Like I said, I wasn’t part of the fandom then, so I don’t know how fans from 2015 felt upon learning they’d get more Simon and Baz. Same with Good Omens. I only really got into the fandom a few months before season 2 came out. So I don’t know how OG fans felt waiting and waiting and waiting. So maybe I have that going for me as an advantage, that my hunger wasn’t growing more and more feral.
Then again, I’m now a part of The Sandman fandom, and we’re essentially waiting on Season 2 to start development. And while I’m hoping a few things are tweaked (like Dream and Hob’s relationship), I’d be more than fine if it stays the same as in the comics. And if they decide to go about that in an entirely different way, I’d be fine with that too. You know why? Because I’ve learned to trust the writers of the stories I love not to lead me astray.
And if I’m unhappy with something –because nothing is ever 100% perfect, and even my favourite stories end up coming short– there are always fanfictions to write, gifs to laugh at, and fandom friends to discuss plots and meta with.
I may have lost the point of this meta. I tend to do that, following a train of thought that doesn’t always make sense in the end.
Fandom friends, can we all just agree to take a breath and be thankful of the stories given to us? Can we learn to appreciate the entire picture, and not just a tiny section of it? And for the love of all that is holy, can we learn to be patient and to listen when our story tellers remind us to wait and see? To trust them when they assure us that our characters will have a happy ending, even if they need to traverse a little in the dark to get there?
I sure as hell am, and I hope you will too.
Gonna tag @carryonsimoncarryonbaz because she was instrumental in encouraging me to write this.

My Stolas x Blitzø fanfiction The Pompous and The Prick, is coming to an end. What should I write next?
The problem with the Fizzarozzie fanfic is that if how they actually met and got together is revealed in the show, I might loose motivation to write and/or you guys might loose motivation to read. 👀🤷‍♂️
The problem with the Good Omens idea is that I'm not an expert on the lore, so I'll probably mess up and I'm worried some people would get unreasonably angry about it 😅
*Please note that ultimately, the decision is up to me, but I definitely do want to hear your input!

ooh i’ll take 🍓 🍬 🦴 for the ask game please and thanks :)
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
Remus (briefly) running away from Tonks when she gets pregnant is SUCH an interesting piece of his character. Fandom has tended to move away from the depths of his self-loathing but damn! This guy really, really hates himself and his lycanthropy and what it means for those around him.
oh also Remus is the last person to start doubting Dumbledore/rebel against Dumbledore, and it's wild to me that anti-Dumbledore side of fandom tends to pick him as the mouthpiece in fic!
🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
I've been reading fic since I was in middle school in 2004-ish (starting with draco malfoy x mary sue fics lol), but I only started writing during early pandemic days partly because I suddenly had the time and the intense drive to explore fictional worlds again.
I read Blood Magic on a whim (as I discuss in my rec post here) and that fic in particular really inspired me to see how fanfic can be used to process our own traumas and experiences.
I've always been drawn to the house of black (Sirius/Bellatrix was probably my first OTP), and I was struggling to find portrayals of Andromeda and Tedromeda I really agreed with. I wasn't satisfied with a wholesome love story between a privileged pureblood and a muggleborn. I wanted more politics and complexity.
Combine that with the fact I was doing some intensive trauma therapy work for my experiences of incest as a kid, I then started writing my Andromeda series! And then I got more involved in fandom and discovered fests and communities and just got so enamored with all of it.
🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
I don't think there's a piece of media that inspires all of my writing, but Good Omens s2 inspired my Dorcissa fic and the novel My Dark Vanessa inspired my Bellatrix/Tonks fic.

Hi, I really love reading your blog, also, thanks for sharing your posts. Even if I'm not the one who asked your otps, do you mind if I asked why you love those couples (your otps)? You can pick at least 3 couples, if you want to write the reasons.....
Oops I completely forgot about this ask sorry-
SO I'm gonna pick so much more than 3 ships lmaooo be ready for my rambling <3
Zukka (Zuko/Sokka), from Avatar the last airbender : they're simply idiots in love. I'm not sure I can explain why I love them so much. I think they're beautiful together and that their personalities complete each others.
SuguSato (Gojo Satoru/Geto Suguru) from Jujutsu Kaisen : AH. I won't talk about them or else I'll be writing all night. They're my current hyperfixation (since 2 years). I already made too much posts about them. They smart and idiots in the same time, they're kids who are learning how to love, they're the definition of bromance, the incarnation of gay/bi panic & awareness.
BokuAka (Bokuto Kotaro/Akaashi Keiji) AND KuroKen (Kuroo Tetsurou/Kenma Kozume), from Haikyuu : yes I have to put both because I am not able to choose only one. I know they're in highschool but they're just married. They're two married couples. They're soulmates. They are perfect for each other. They love each other so fucking much it's overwhelming. It's a captain/setter relationship that is so pure and wholesome. They're not even in the same year yet they fit each other perfectly. Also, they're sexy.
Karushuu (Akabane Karma/Asano Gakushuu), from Assassination Classroom : they're just the whole Enemies to Lovers trope for highschoolers and it's so fucking hilarious to imagine them flirting and bickering at the same time. I can imagine them in so many situations, and that's why I keep writing fanfiction about them. They have the exact same personality but just, slightly to the left, and that somehow makes them total opposite. Yet the relationship works.
EraserMic (Aizawa Shouta/Yamada Hizashi) from My Hero Academia : married couple too but they are adults and they also might have adopted a kid (Eri) or 20 (the entire 1-A + Hitoshi). It's the Sunshine/Moonlight trope, one hyperactive extravert in love with the tired emo introvert, and they work very well together. I also write fanfic about them. I had a 4 year long hyperfixation on them.
AziraCrow (Aziraphale/Crowley) from Good Omens : I don't need to say anything, just watch the show. It's on Amazon Prime. Alright, okay, I will say one thing : Genderqueer In Love.
Stucky (Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes), from the MCU : It has been a while since I've read or saved anything about them but I will never forget how much I love them. I will never NOT be mad about the queerbait. They are in love till the end of the line, they cannot be separated, they are a whole pack yet Marvel put them apart. Just, let them be together, I'm begging you.
Alright that's all for today ! Really I can talk for hours about each one of these ships, I'd write entire paragraphs if you allowed me to. But there's like 7 couples here so it'd be way too long if I say everything I have to say about them lmaooooooo

Otherwise I love horror novels and old fantasy novels.  I just reread Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.  Next up is How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix (probably one of my favorite horror authors).
favourite colour: I would say a tie between like a deep, rich blue and a bright aqua color.
last song: Lady Lucifer by Green Lung
last movie: The Omen (original).  Last one in the theater was The Thing (my favorite movie just fyi)
sweet/spicy/savory: Spicy, I love making my mouth burn.
currently working on: Oh god, well there’s a specific one I’ve been struggling with that I think I’ve bitched about to 30 people, just straight smut between Copia and the reader.  There’s a little wholesome one with Primo and a young Terzo I’m almost done with.  And like five others that I’ve started in one way or another.
Thank you for the tag! I’m tagging these folks but feel free to do this if you see it:

Good Omens Fanfic Rec: Demon and Angel Professors (series)
Demon and Angel Professors (series) by Ghostinthehouse (@ineffableghost)
Rating: G
Words: 133 200 (divided in 666 word ficlets)
Summary (by the author)
They're professors. They're married. Their students don't realise. Cue shenanigans.
Multiple short arcs with one-shots (and often pauses) between them. Characters continue from one arc to the next.
Any ambiguity between being human and being occult/ethereal is entirely deliberate.
I tagged this under human au’s even though it is never actually mentioned if they are human or not. Actually, considering how many students start and graduate while they continue teaching, over how many years the story spans... well, it’s up to our imagination, just like the writer said!
This series has  taught me so much about genders, sexualities, disabilities, neuroatypical traits and trauma. It has given me a lot of vocabulary to google with, and also affected on my view of myself as an adhd person somewhere on aro and ace spectrums. Definitely one of the most important fics I’ve ever read!
To put it simply, the plot of the series is that Aziraphale and Crowley are so different that nobody realizes they are married, and they have some fun with their students just to see how long it takes and how obvious they can be before the students figure out the truth. As every year brings new students, they can do it again and again, in different ways.
During these story arcs dozens of marginalized students are also seen and accepted, and they get the support, validation and respect they need and crave. It is absolutely heartwarming how big of an impact Aziraphale and Crowley have to the community and to their students lives! The familiarity, closeness and wordless understanding between Aziraphale and Crowley is also so well written I’m absolutely speechless with it. They have a tumultuous past (which is only hinted at, but at least for me that gave a lot of food for imagination!) and that has shaped their relationship. Nothing can come between them, and they both know it. They are The Most Important Person for each other (and they know it and appreciate it) and that’s my favourite trope in Ineffable Husbands fics, be it AU or not.
The series is long, 200 episodes (so far?) of 666 word ficlets, but the story arcs are short and the series is perfect for moments when you want to read something quick and wholesome. It’s like returning to old friends.
This series ticks a lot of my boxes, it has many outsider pov moments, delightful humor, strong mature relationship between A & C, and it taught me something new. What else can I wish for?

After having saved the world, Crowley shows Aziraphale his bookshop, and how he was able to miracle it all back. A conversation ensues, exploring The Library of Alexandria, Alpha Centauri, and the Thing about Armageddon. I did it! I made a Good Omens fanic! Go read it, and please let me know what you think x
