Hi! Can I request no.4 (if it's still available and nobody snatches it as I'm writing this 😂) angst+smut with Ethan? Say yn and Ethan are friends who have feelings for each other, but neither will make the first move. Ethan is helping yn move apartments and accidentally comes accross her old notes about suicide in all the clutter (given he never knew she was suffering. Can also be about depression, if you're not okay mentioning suicidal thoughts). He asks her about it, she breaks down, blabs about being in love with him, and then the nasty (or fluffy, it's up to you) sexy time 😌

there it is, I hope you’ll like it. I’ve decided to end it with fluff because it felt right. I was a bit unsure of this idea at first but it turned out to be very touching and personal (at least to me), I have to admit, so thank you 💕

#4. “I smile because it’s easier than explaining what is killing you inside.” + Ethan + angst/fluff

“Can you please hand me this box?”

You looked out the window and pointed at the giant package sitting in the backseat of Ethan’s car. He grabbed it and gracefully carried it inside. 

“That’s the last one. Was there anything left in your old flat?” He asked, wiping the sweat off his forehead.

“Just the nightstand and one box in the bedroom, I think.” You scratched your forehead and sat down on the chair heavily. Ethan looked around and sighed. 

“I’ll go and get it, you stay and rest a little. Maybe order some food? We deserve a good rest.” He smiled and placed a soft kiss on your head. 

“Thank you, really.” You watched him leave with a smile. If he only knew how much he meant to you.

Ethan arrived at your old flat, he strolled through the place, whistling quietly. He checked all drawers, shelves and corners. You were right, the only thing left was the nightstand and a small box. He chuckled at the tape you wrapped around the drawer to keep it closed and intact while moving. Sadly as soon as he picked it up, the tape gave up and the drawer swung open. Some of the things fell out: a collection of pens, tissues, an old candle and a notebook. Ethan didn’t mean to read any of it, yet the notebook fell on the ground and landed on the last written page. He picked it up and glanced. Ethan sat down on the edge of the bed and sighed heavily. The last entry was from only a few days back. You described how stressed you were about the move, and how anxious it was making  you. There was also a sentence he noticed that filled his eyes with tears.

“Dear god…” He mumbled and closed the notebook. 

It felt wrong, but he was glad that it happened. At least now he knew how poorly you really were. That your happiness was a facade, a mask you were pitting on to avoid questions. That you were so close to giving up.

Ethan packed everything back into the drawer and taped it again. He packed all your things into the car and left, unable to stop thinking about you with heartache. You welcomed him with a box of pizza and a wide smile.

“hey you, got everything?” you asked and walked to him to give him a hug.

“Yeah, you’re officially done.” He tried to smile but the words he just read kept ringing in his head. 

You were eating in silence, you sent him a suspicious look and frowned.

“What is it? Did you find some weird sex toy under the bed?” You chucked and put the pizza slice down. “Ethan talk to me, you've been really weird since you came back.

He took a moment to gather his thoughts and cleared his throat. He looked at you with worry and love in his eyes.

“I wasn’t snooping, but the drawer opened and your notebook fell out.” He started quietly and watched you freeze at his words. “It opened at the last entry and… I’m sorry but I’ve read it.”

Your smile slowly faded away, and you bit your lip, feeling the tears filling your eyes. He moved closer and took your hand in his. 

“Darling I had no idea…I’m so sorry you had to be alone with…” His voice cracked and his big brown eyes also filled with tears.

“I smile because it’s easier than explaining what is killing you inside.” You looked at him with a faint smile, letting a tear roll down your cheek. He squeezed your hand harder.

“If I only knew…you know you can tell me everything right? I would never judge you, you’re so damn important to me, the idea that I could lose you…” He looked down and shook his head. 

“Ethan…” You gently grabbed his chin to look into his eyes. “It’s been like this for a while. It's hard, I have to admit, but…you can’t blame yourself for not doing anything.”

“But how could I miss that? I’m supposed to be here for you, support you…”

“You are the only reason why I’m still alive.”

Your words were echoing in the room. He looked at you as if you were the most fragile and precious thing on the planet. As if you were about to fall apart in front of his eyes. 

“My love…” He mumbled and knelt in front of you.

Ethan cupped your face with his big hands, wet from tears. He tucked the string of your hair behind your ear and leaned closer. He pressed his lips to yours and kissed you, gently but with so much passion, as if he tried to kiss your pain away. As if he tried to take some of your sorrows. He stood up and picked you up, holding you tightly. he sat on the couch, with you on his lap. He held you close, so close that you could feel his heartbeat. He kept stroking your back, and your hair, kissing your head softly. 

“I love you so much, you’re not alone, I’ll never let you deal with this alone…” he mumbled, sniffling quietly.

You trusted him, and for the first time in months, you felt peace and a glimpse of hope.

The state of Utah in the United States has no citizenship requirements for marriage licenses, and Utah County is the only place there that allows international couples to register their marriages online. Since the county rolled out virtual weddings during the Covid-19 pandemic, it became a wedding haven for same-sex couples who are not able to officially marry in their own countries.

As sexual minorities in China face suppression at home, Utah County is allowing them to officially marry and celebrate their love — all for around $100. Although the marriages aren’t recognized in China, some 200 same-sex couples from mainland China and Hong Kong have gotten married via the county’s digital marriage license system since 2021.

For authorities in Utah County, the influx of international couples came as a surprise. The Utah County and Auditor’s Office moved its marriage licensing service online, as part of a digitization initiative in 2019. At the start of the pandemic, a number of couples requested Zoom ceremonies, and the county made those available as well.

The service first attracted couples in Utah, followed by people from across the U.S., and later, from all over the world. From May 1 to September 20 this year, at least 77 same-sex couples with mainland Chinese addresses have been married there, said county deputy clerk Russ Rampton, who oversees marriage licensing, to Rest of World.

Although same-sex marriage remains illegal in Hong Kong, under a different set of laws to mainland China, residents who get married in other places are able to apply for dependent visas in the city for their partners. Married gay people are also able to mark themselves as married in tax filings.

In his vow, however, [one marriage certificate applicant] Zhu said he was looking forward to getting married a second time — in China. “If one day our country allows this, I hope we could get married again in this country,” Zhu said to his husband before they kissed.
