A murder mystery film set in a medieval village. After an outbreak of plague, the villagers make the decision to shut their borders so as to protect the disease from spreading (see the real life case of the village of Eyam). As the disease decimates the population, however, some bodies start showing up that very obviously were not killed by plague.
Since nobody has been in or out since the outbreak began, the killer has to be somebody in the local community.
The village constable (who is essentially just Some Guy, because being a medieval constable was a bit like getting jury duty, if jury duty gave you the power to arrest people) struggles to investigate the crime without exposing himself to the disease, and to maintain order as the plague-stricken villagers begin to turn on each other.
The killer strikes repeatedly, seemingly taking advantage of the empty streets and forced isolation to strike without witnesses. As with any other murder mystery, the audience is given exactly the same information to solve the crime as the detective.
Except, that is, whenever another character is killed, at which point we cut to the present day where said character's remains are being carefully examined by a team of modern archaeologists and historians who are also trying to figure out why so many of the people in this plague-pit died from blunt force trauma.
The archaeologists and historians, btw, are real experts who haven't been allowed to read the script. The filmmakers just give them a model of the victim's remains, along with some artefacts, and they have to treat it like a real case and give their real opinion on how they think this person died.
We then cut back to the past, where the constable is trying to do the same thing. Unlike the archaeologists, he doesn't have the advantage of modern tech and medical knowledge to examine the body, but he does have a more complete crime scene (since certain clues obviously wouldn't survive to be dug up in the modern day) and personal knowledge from having probably known the victim.
The audience then gets a more complete picture than either group, and an insight into both the strengths and limits of modern archaeology, explaining what we can and can't learn from studying a person's remains.
At the end of the film, after the killer is revealed and the main plot is resolved, we then get to see the archaeologists get shown the actual scenes where their 'victims' were killed, so they can see how well their conclusions match up with what 'really' happened.

What if zombie film but two people who hate eachother. And it's queer.
The film follows the two through and equal amount of modern day and flashback as each works out their issues and slowly they grow closer together through quiet survival.
In the end one gets bit and the other has to shoot them in the head and they say, jokingly " you know I've wanted to do this for a long time " choking back tears and the other just looks up and smiles softly. Cut to black. Bang.

Okay, hear me out on this: “Short Round - An Indiana Jones Story”.
Ke Huy Quan is obviously the lead. At this point in the timeline, Short Round is an adventurer in his own right, although he still wears his signature baseball cap.
Michelle Yeoh is the co-lead/love interest. For their dynamic, think Indy and Marion Ravenwood. Or Nathan Drake and Elena.
Chloe Bennet is the tritagonist. She plays an orphan who joins Short Round on his journey and later learns that she is his long-lost daughter.
Kento Yamazaki is the main antagonist. He plays a ruthless Yakuza boss who wants to destroy his rivals with the mythical item that Short Round is looking for.
Destin Daniel Cretton is the director.
Show is mostly set in 1960s Japan. The mythical item being sought is the “Cursed Sword of Muramasa”, a katana with magical properties, but curses the user with madness and a thirst for blood.

My DC Cinematic Universe: Superman
Listed below are the links to my insane ramblings about what I would do with a Superman film, were I given the reigns to the DC Cinematic Universe instead of James Gunn. Enter if you dare, because this shit is LONG, real nerdy, and just generally a lot. But if you DO read...well, thanks, I really, genuinely appreciate it. Hopefully you enjoyed it!

imagine a film called the Bats and the film gears up with like, suspenseful spooky bat action - bation if you will - as if the bats are going to be the big bad but then it fucking slowly swivels halfway through to the villain being an evil oil tycoon/landlord/police station that was doing bad stuff to innocent bats and fucking with their spooky bellfries and the bats fucking gang up and pick them up and fly them off a cliff
the end credits is a lot of cute bat footage of bats doing stuff like pollinating flowers, eating mosquitos and destroying overripe fruit

Home Alone 2 (1992) AU where the Sticky Bandits (formerly known as the Wet Bandits) meet Kevin in New York and they hear his predicament and they realize that instead of trying to kill him, they could help him get back to his family in Florida, and then they could get back to New York, and Kevin would go back to Chicago and they would probably never ever have to see that child again. Maybe his family put out a monetary reward for returning Kevin to them so they’re double motivated by that or something.
After that point the film rapidly turns into Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (1987)

Horror film apparently based on a book where it starts the same as the book- then one of the characters goes to the library and finds and reads the original book. The rest of the characters suddenly seem far more as though their acting or maybe… trapped.
Might be really cliché but idk I’d watch it

Anyone have any ideas for a short film? Can be literally anything in the world but I’m lost for ideas.
Was thinking of making a dark academia story since I’m based in Bath, UK. Open to any suggestions

Ender's Game (and Shadow) could make for a good 4-6 part miniseries. A two-hour movie can capture some of the exciting action, but not the slow building tension or despair of Ender as the isolation and pressure builds.
The show would have to make a decision early whether to try to maintain the Big Secret, or to build it like a dramatic irony. The 2013 movie tried to keep it secret and failed miserably as it telegraphed it like crazy. Having the opposite approach, where you see the story more from Bean's eyes would be an interesting approach, where you can see the pain and isolation of Ender, and know why, and not be able to do anything about it.
Regardless, it had to have time for the pressure to build. In a film, the long series of tests resolve too quickly so they don't seem nearly as hard. The movie had to cheat and make it super easy barely an inconvenience by breaking its own rules. The entire Battle School sequence was also like 4 weeks in-universe (there is a ticking clock and everything - the entire story takes place over the course of months).
The one other change that I think would be necessary would be to the Locke and Demosthenes subplot. Xkcd captures the ridiculousness of them taking over the world by blogging. But I think modern tech could get you another approach: have them use AI generated figures plus DeepFake technology. That way they can interact with others directly by video, appear on the news (and yelly talkshows), testify before Congress, meet with world leaders in secret, etc. They can see be obvious fake images (in-world, since it will be established that this is totally possible and regular), although I'd use real actors, but give them some sort of CGI watermark, so it doesn't uncanny valley. Allowing them to have a screen-presence gives the pseudonyms more presence than just having to read text posts.

This is walking through and Autumn Park. This is walking into a bakery and smelling the compelling aroma of ground coffee. This is sitting on a park bench in winter and watching the few birds left in the trees. This is soaking in the bitter cold on your cheeks and nose on a crisp morning. This is losing yourself in the world's small wonders for a while.

Horror movie concept: a found-footage type film (e.g. Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity), but the protagonist carrying the camera is a toddler.

Hi, everyone!
I recently posted a companion piece for my interview with Nathan, a stand-up comedy screenwriter.
The new post is all about my thoughts on film ideas for Bo Burnham and Donald Glover to get the "O" in "EGOT."
Tumblr media
Here's the article!
I have had many of these concepts brewing in my head pre-Inside, so this post falls under my previous writing even though I reference Bo's special multiple times throughout.
Please let me know what you think, and keep it here for more comedy fun! ✌🏼

Ideas for “Prey” spiritual sequels (aka “Predator” prequels):
1) Predator vs. a samurai and a ninja in Feudal Japan. Samurai is played by Kento Yamazaki, ninja is played by Karen Fukuhara.
2) Predator vs. a cowboy during the Wild West. Cowboy is played by Josh Brolin.
3) Predator vs. the American Mafia during the 1920s Prohibition Era. The lead member of the Mafia is played by Milo Ventimiglia.
4) Predator vs. the Zulu and the British forces during the Anglo-Zulu War. The Zulu protagonist is played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, the British protagonist is played by Richard Madden (NOTE: For this idea, I was thinking along the lines of “House of Ashes”, in which soldiers from opposing forces have to join forces in order to fight the aliens coming after them)
5) Predator vs. Māori warriors during pre-colonization New Zealand. The Māori warrior is played by Temuera Morrison.

I’ve said this before in a YouTube comment, but I’ll say it here again.
Here’s an idea / prediction for an inside out sequel, so apparently there were scrapped characters that were supposed to be in the film. Different emotions including: greed, envy, gloom, hope, guilt, love, shame, etc. These scrapped characters could be like those “office workers” working under one or more of the main 5 emotions or “bosses”/“managers” they correspond to.
Because of Riley’s maturity, more subordinate emotions will develop based off her five previous emotions.
Like envy and greed works under disgust and anger.
Gloom and guilt work under sadness.
Hope and love works under joy.
Irritable can work under anger and disgust.
Other subordinate emotions can include: thrill, panic, anxiety, pity, excitement, and so on and so forth.
The main 5 would assign a suborning emotion(s) to be used in a situation if necessary.
Like if there someone more popular in a high school for Riley, Anger and Disgust would assign Envy to the board.
Or if there is a situation of no way out, panic would be assigned to the board.
This is just my idea/prediction for a sequel.
