#Bart Gilbert (character)
Text
Tumblr media
Despite his claims to be a fan of that rip-off,
it can’t be a coincidence that The Simpsons creator Matt Groening named his alter ego Bart, as in Bart Gilbert, Associate of the First Inspector.

Something occurred to me last night so now I will force all of you to see the roles I have assigned to Succession characters If Succession was a poorly written aged terribly teen drama (that probably aired on the cw)
• No one would like Kendall he’d get a serena van der woodsen/elena gilbert type of reception I’m so sorry. When the show goes to shit (as all shitty old teen dramas do) people would go like “god Kendall was so annoying I only continued watching for xyz”
•Tom/Greg would be the breakout side character everyone loves I.e stiles teen wolf/brittany glee
•Shiv would be the blair waldorf/quinn fabray/alison dilaurentis it girl badass whatever because do I even need to explain
•Roman would be the other badass (I.e. santana lopez) and people would be making plottwist edits that goes from shiv to him or vice versa
•Stewy would be a georgina sparks/jesse st. james type character
•Logan would be the evil bart bass villain because duh
•Frank would be the older wiser moral compass/inspiration/stable father figure (wish I could think of another example except fred andrews from riverdale)
will add more when inspiration strikes again

Things Get Better?: LGBTQ Representation in Animation in 2022 [Part 3]
Continued from part 2
Just as bombastic is the third season of Harley Quinn headlined by two bisexual protagonists, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. Both are known by the ship name Harlivy. The season, premiering from July to September 2022. The series also features a queer character named Clayface, who works with Harley from time to time. Harley Quinn was recently renewed for a fourth season, with a standalone episode premiering sometime this year.

Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the nineteenth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on January 16, 2023.
There are other Western animated series with LGBTQ characters. For instance, Craig of the Creek features Kelsey Pokoly and Isabella "Stacks" Alvarado, two lesbian characters who have an important role in the series. There are additional LGBTQ characters in Summer Camp Island and Victor and Valentino. In the latter series are episodes partially focusing on the relationship between Xochi Jalapeno and Amabel. The former series has at least four LGBTQ characters: Puddle, Alien King, and Ghosts Dads as noted by the Insider database of LGBTQ characters and cartoons, which was last updated in June 2021.
All three of these series were targeted by Warner Bros Discovery execs. Summer Camp Island and Victor and Valentino were removed from the HBO Max streaming platform. Craig of the Creek had its final season order cut in half by execs, worrying those who worked on the show. These shows were not alone. In 2022, three other series with LGBTQ characters also faced the axe from corporate executives: Tuca & Bertie, The Casagrandes, and Close Enough.
In 2022, some months after the fourth season ended, shenanigans by Warner Bros Discovery execs led to the effective cancellation of Young Justice. The series includes LGBTQ characters such as Eduardo "Ed" Dorado Jr., Kaldur, and Marie Logan. Lagoon Boy "La'gaan" was shown to be bisexual and in a poly relationship in the recent season. Bart Allen is in a relationship with Ed, and Wynnde is in a relationship with Kaldur.
The show features Harper Row who is bisexual, Rosa who is trans woman, and Violet who is non-binary. In the most recent season, there was a sub-story showing Violet beginning a romantic relationship with Harper Row. Unfortunately, without another season, these stories could not be expanded.
Other series shined through in their representation. This included The Dragon Prince. There are lesbian (Amaya and Janai), non-binary (Kazi), and otherwise queer (Annika, Ethari, Neha, and Runaan), characters. The story of Amaya and Junai was an important part of the story in the show's recent fourth season, becoming more than "lip service" regardless of how bad other narrative choices in the season were, with this story likely continued in the show's next three seasons.
The same can be said for the mature animated series, Disenchantment, which features the bisexual Princess Bean, voiced by a bisexual actress, Abbi Jacobsen, and various characters in Star Trek: Lower Decks. [4] The latter series, its third season airing from August to September 2022, has a bisexual protagonist named Beckett Mariner, a possibly asexual chief engineer named Andy Billups, and a lesbian woman named Jennifer Sh'reyan. The relationship, and subsequent break-up of Mariner and Sh'reyan was an important part of the recent season, which featured Mariner as a protagonist.
There were other characters of note, like the confirmed lesbian relationship in Arcane between two characters (Vi and Caitlyn) and many characters in another ongoing series, The Owl House. This includes the now-canon romantic relationship between Luz Noceda, who is bisexual, and Amity Blight, who is lesbian. The show featured other LGBTQ characters, whether those who are queer (Eda Clawthorne), aromantic asexual (Lilith Clawthorne), gay (Gilbert Park and Harvey Park), non-binary and transmasculine (Raine Whispers), and presumably non-binary character named The Collector.

[4] There were gay characters in Kid Cosmic (Fry and Hamburg), The Great North (Ham Tobin and Crispin Cienfuegos), Jellystone!, Chicago Party Aunt (Daniel and Gideon), Close Enough (Randall "Randy" Watson), Invincible (William Francis Clockwell), Big City Greens (Alexander and Terry), Baby Shark's Big Show! (Viv and Vera),Undone (Alejandro Diaz), and Pete The Cat (Sam and Syd), along with lesbian characters in Little Ellen,The Ghost and Molly McGee (Mrs. Roop and Pan), the new Rugrats (Betty DeVille), Tuca & Bertie, The Casagrandes (Becky). In addition, non-binary characters appeared in Ridley Jones (Fred) and Madagascar: A Little Wild (Odee Elliott) while genderless characters had roles in Star Trek: Prodigy (Zero) and Solar Opposites (Korvo and Terry), and a trans woman is a character in Peepoodo & the Super Fuck Friends (Evelyn). There were an assortment of LGBTQ characters in Big Mouth, The Loud House, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, Bob's Burgers,Bee and PuppyCat, Rick and Morty, RWBY, Hey Duggee, American Dad!, Red vs. Blue, South Park, Family Guy, Spongebob, The Simpsons, and Archer.

What are your thoughts on Sideshow Bob’s character after Brother From Another Series?
((mun: I'm guessing by the way you phrased this that you're asking me, in which case, I feel his character became quite mediocre after this point. I think this is due to Bob becoming more and more Flanderised (for lack of a better word), because to me they seem to have stripped most of his personality traits outside of "wants to kill Bart/the Simpsons family" and "likes Gilbert and Sullivan". It just feels like over time he's ended up having fewer and fewer moments outside of obsessing over killing Bart/some other Simpson(s) where he can just be his sarcastic, sardonic self. I feel like they really exaggerated that crazed, violent side of his personality to the detriment of that dry, bitter side, which I think is a real shame because I think that contrast between those parts of himself really add to his character.
Also his political beliefs, while ultimately still tied to a plot in which the end goal is to make Bart suffer, added an extra dimension to his character: he's this bitter, tyrannical republican with a jaded view of the world, but he's still unhinged enough to want to murder a little boy, and I think that contrast is so interesting.
I just feel like, after a while, the writers kind of stopped adding to his personality and just focused a lot more on the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner dynamic he has with Bart, to the detriment of Bob's more secondary personality traits as well as his potential further development as a character.
I hope this made sense (admittedly I haven't seen the show in a while). Let me know if something doesn't add up here and I'll correct myself.
If you meant for Bob to answer your ask, just let me know and I'll reblog this with an in-character answer.))

Imagine, the newsies put on a variety show :
(Are these all based on personal events? 100%)
Jack asks Medda if they can put on a variety/talent show in her theatre for fun with the reasoning "for the kids!". Medda agrees wholeheartedly and organises an evening for them all to preform.
Jack and the others continue to invite all of the adults who are either parental figures or are just vaguely nice to them, including Kloppman, Hannah, Seitz, the Bowery Beauties, Toby the Candy Butcher, Mr. Jacobi, Medda's stage hands, David's parents ect. Denton is entrusted with recording the show and takes his job very seriously. Racetrack even invited Wiesel as a joke and took bets to see if he came or not (he didn't but no one lost money on that)
Now for the acts :
• First up we have a rendition of Country Roads by John Denver led by Jack, featuring Kid Blink, Mush, Boots, Crutchie and Specs on several instruments (Mush borrowed Race's kazoo). They practiced until 3am the night before on their various instruments leading to Skittery dousing water on Jacks head the next day as revenge.
• Next, a play about the tellitubbies being murdered by their hoover, complete with ukulele music, starring the younger newsies aka Les (as the hoover) Ten Pin, Snipeshooter, Tumbler and Swifty. Sarah provided the ukulele music as the sun and Skittery played a tree in background because the younger newsies bullied him into it. (This is oddly specific for a reason lmao) Some adults were left with several questions afterwards.
• After that comes a very interesting rendition of "That's what makes you beautiful" by Bumlets, Itey, Dutchy, Snoddy and Snitch each preforming as a member of One Direction with name tags to signal who's who. (There was a very loud disagreement about who's be Harry last night. Let's just say Bumlets won)
• Now for David who kept saying he wouldn't participate but is reluctantly forced into it by Sarah, Jack and Les and continues to recite the Element Song flawlessly, surprising everyone. Didn't even need the lyrics, he's that good.
• Up next, a magic act starring Racetrack and Albert, as his lovely (begrudging) assistant! They weren't allowed to to saw Albert in half but did manage a pretty cool vanishing act, making all of the younger newsies ask for magic lessons and everyone else being equally astonished.
• After that comes Super Bass preformed by Smalls while Sniper plays Pachelbel's Cannon In D on the violin. (Smalls recited the clean version per Medda's request)
• Next up is Buttons doing a puppet act with puppets he made himself! His ventriloquist skills are pretty amazing, he even made a puppet of Pulitzer! (Katherine asked for a commissioned copy of him after the show, she couldn't get over how funny and well made it was)
• Now for the Brooklyn newsies. They do an ensemble performance featuring Spot, Long John, Hotshot, York, Myron, Bart, Rafaela, Joey and more. What they perform you may ask? Oh a little dance called "An Dreoilín". It's chaos. Race and Jack jump in towards the end (they also know the dance and song?) and soon everyone'd clapping along. If you haven't heard of it before, look it up on YouTube, the music is brilliant.
• After that comes Bill and Darcy and their own duet of the song "I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General" which they perform frighteningly well. Let's be honest, they sort of are Gilbert and Sullivan and have been waiting for ages to show this party trick off.
• Next up, Jingle Bell Rock but it's the Mean Girls version made even more interesting by Romeo, Jojo, Elmer and Finch. (Do I need to even say who's Regina?) We even have Medda dancing along pretending to be the "cool mom" and Jojo kicking the boom box over, meaning everyone starts singing along. It's the perfect recreation.
• Now for Jake and Pie-Eater doing impressions! Characters included : Jake impersonating Jack with a cheap sparkly cowboy hat (bought an hour before performing), muttering about Santa Fe for 3 minutes straight. Next was Pie-Eater pretending to be Kloppman and Jake as Skittery in the mornings having their banter. They took on requests such as the Delancey Brothers, Wiesel and even Spot (requested by Race. Pie-Eater had trained for this moment and did not disappoint) Jake and Pie-Eater spoke with the right cadences in their voices and perfect body language. Scary impressive stuff.
• Katherine next. She deadpan gets up and switches on her background music ; "We didn't start the fire" and sings it by memory. She makes sure to point at Spot and the rest of the Booklyn newsies when singing "Brooklyn's got a winning team" during the 7th verse. Absolutely deadly.
• Last but not least we have Henry, Mike, Ike, Tommy Boy, Splasher, Coffee Bean and Barney Peanuts performing a rousing version of "Lay all your love on me" from Mamma Mia, matching flippers and everything. Soon everyone's joined in and they all finish with singing "Dancing Queen" with Jack putting a little too much emphasis on the lyrics "only 17".
All in all, a successful evening with the promise from Denton they'll all get a copy of the show sent to them after he makes a few edits (I told you he took this seriously)
Did I do it? Did I mention all the newsies? Seriously, this was an exercise in how many characters I could remember.

Probably my favorite ever Simpsons quote, definitely by my favorite character. From the episode "Cape Feare", as Sideshow Bob is about to kill Bart and gives him a last request, Bart asks he sing the entire score of H.M.S. Pinafore to stall for time until the boat gets into Springfield. Props to Bob, he sings better than me, and the only Gilbert and Sullivan song I can "sing" is "When I Was a Lad".

Whom would you match, if you could place an Associate with an Inspector other than the one they travelled with?
Dynamo with the Fifth Inspector? Lily Taylor with the Twelfth Inspector? Bart with the Ninth Inspector?

I'm loving your feminism posts!!! What are your favorite female characters ever? 🖤
Thank you! I love writing them, although the feedback is lackluster at best.
I’ve answered this question before, but I also want to name my favorite female characters currently, because they deserve it!
I have a group of favorite female characters that I consider my “girl squad”. They are my favorite characters ever: Lara Croft (Tomb Raider games), Carrie Hopewell (from my second favorite show, Banshee), Lilah Morgan (from my favorite show, Angel), Trinity (Matrix trilogy), and recently, Lily Bart (from the book, House of Mirth) and Queen Unurato (from Shadow of the Tomb Raider.)
I’ve never talked about Unurato, and I’d like to do so now. The Rebel Queen Unurato was a fair, devoted leader; a peaceful, kind person; a good mother and wife. I fell in love with her quiet strength and presence, with her compassionate, rational, pragmatic mind, and with her brave heart. She fought tirelessly for her community, and resisted the tyranny of a mad man. However, she also accepted and respected nature the way it was: she knew death and risk were a part of life, and she met them gracefully and fearlessly. Unurato is one of the most beautiful characters I’ve ever seen. It’s an embarrassment that almost none of the Tomb Raider posts I’ve read mention her.
There are lots of other characters that I love though: Paris Gellar and Emily Gilmore ( Gilmore Girls), Lucille Bluth (Arrested Development), Jessica Huang (Fresh off the Boat), Marissa Gold and Diane Lockhart (The Good Wife/The Good Fight), Nymphadora Tonks (Harry Potter), Faith Lehane (AtS and BtVS), Gina Linetti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Korra (The Legend of Korra), Leslie Knope (Parks and Rec)...
And also, Rebecca Bunch (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Rachel Green (Friends), Elena Gilbert (The Vampire Diaries), Rebekah Mikaelson (The Originals), Petra Solano (Jane the Virgin), Beth Boland (Good Girls), etc.
I might’ve forgotten some characters...
Thanks for the ask!

Alabama Uses Mark Ingram & The Crimson Tide Defense to Beat Texas & Win the National Title, 37-21
A year is quite a while to hold up when you look for individual and group recovery, yet it is additionally a brief span to hold up when the occasion yields a positive result and you can relax in that accomplishment for an incredible remainder. For Alabama this year, the recollections will be sweet, and at any rate one legend will be made all the while.
From Kenny "The Snake" Stabler to "Joe Willie" Namath to Bart Star, every one of whom won Super Bowls as NFL quarterbacks, presently include "Mount Cody" to the rundown of Alabama legends.
Senior Terrence Cody was Alabama's 6-foot-5, 365-pount nose monitor who, as much as anybody in Alabama's group, was liable for getting the Crimson Tide to the title game undefeated. Had it not been for his square of a field objective endeavor by Tennessee on the last play of the game, Alabama would not have beaten the Volunteers, 12-10, to stay undefeated. It was Cody's second square of a field objective in the fourth quarter.
"I didn't generally get off the ground," said Cody of his game-sparing blocked kick. "I just arrived at my arm up. That is the means by which I got it. I thumped (the blocker) back. He was on his back." That's Cody-he leveled the blocker on his way to the most significant play of Alabama's unbeaten 14-0 season.
Remove the Crimson Tide's down against Tennessee-their nearest of the year-and Alabama scored 400 and surrendered just 133 points before entering the national title game, a 22-point-in addition to winning edge in 12 games.
The national title game itself was not as sensational as Mount Cody's blocked kick. By and large, the game a few sportswriters described as close and being referred to, was actually nothing of the such.
The truth was that Texas spent a great part of the game looking confounded. The underlying excitement of the Longhorns dissipated immediately when, on their fifth hostile play, Alabama's Marcell Dareus hit Colt McCoy with such power he re-harmed McCoy's shoulder and took him out of the game.
"I did lay it down truly hard," said Dareus, the 6-foot-3, 280-pound sophomore cautious lineman. The whole Texas offense rotated around McCoy all year, and it is highly unlikely that the Longhorns would have been playing in the last round of the period without him. McCoy is the best quarterback in NCAA history, with 45 triumphs in 52 beginnings.
With McCoy out and the Crimson Tide barrier smelling blood like sharks in profound water, they shut down the Longhorns as 'Bama scored multiple times in the second quarter to take a 24-6 halftime lead.
Sophomore running back and Heisman Trophy champ Mark Ingram scored on a 2-yard run. Green bean Trent Richardson scored on a 49-yard run. Senior placekicker Leigh Tiffin included a 26-yard field objective, and Marcell Dareus proceeded with his harm by scoring on a 28-yard block attempt return in the wake of picking off a scoop go from McCoy's substitution, Garrett Gilbert.
Now in the game, Texas looked like dead meat.
Gilbert, an unpracticed first year recruit and Texas' quarterback of things to come, would settle down and later toss 44-yard and 28-yard touchdown goes to Jordan Shipley, the Longhorns go-to beneficiary. The hole was shut to three, 24-21, with 3:02 left.
At that point senior linebacker Eryk Anders ventured up with a bushwhack sack of Gilbert 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage, constraining a bumble that was recouped by sophomore linebacker Courtney Upshaw. Alabama took over on the Texas 3-yard line and three plays later, Mark Ingram discovered paydirt, putting 'Bama up 31-21.
On their next belonging, Gilbert was captured for the third time in the game by senior guarded back Javier Arenas, and Alabama took over on Texas' 27-yard line. Trent Richardson at that point scored his second touchdown by running 27 yards in three plays, putting 'Bama up 37-21. The game was then everything except over with a shout point-one green bean (Richardson) beating another (Gilbert).
Basically, the Crimson Tide didn't require an extraordinary quarterback (Greg McElroy) to win-they had Mark Ingram and the Alabama protection to carry out the responsibility when it checked. Ingram would complete with 116 yards on 22 conveys (5.3 ypc) and 2 touchdowns. 'Bama outrushed Texas, 205 yards to 81.
While many idea Alabama was nuts to pay Nick Saban $32 million more than 8 years ($4 million every year) to mentor its group, here are the outcomes: After going 7-6 his first year and winning the Independence Bowl, Saban's group a year ago was 12-2 and would have played in the national title game had it beaten Florida in the SEC title game. This year Alabama was 14-0, won reclamation and the SEC title by beating Florida 32-13, and won Alabama's eighth national title.
Alabama's title was its first in quite a while, the Tide's last national title was in 1992. Furthermore, we should not overlook Texas (13-1). It may not be very notable, yet Alabama's triumph over Texas for the 2009 national title was its first triumph in quite a while against the Longhorns. Texas will bob back, and Alabama will have a challenging situation to deal with to stay on top one year from now.
Much more critical than the current year's national title for Alabama is the way that Nick Saban, by winning the national title this year, turns into the primary mentor ever to win national titles with 2 distinct schools. He won the 2003 BCS title with LSU (Louisiana State University) by beating Oklahoma 21-14.
Alabama and Bear Bryant are synonymous. Paul "Bear" Bryant, ever natural in his houndstooth cap wandering the Crimson Tide sideline, trained at Alabama, his alma mater, for a long time. At the point when he resigned in 1982, he had won 323 games-the most ever at the time-won 13 SEC (Southeastern Conference) titles and 6 national titles. In 38 years of training, Bear Bryant had precisely one losing season.
Scratch Saban is looking so incredible as a mentor right now, yet let me state it at this very moment: Nick Saban is no Bear Bryant. Saban must build up his own one of a kind character in football history, as Bear Bryant did. Saban likewise has another 200 games to win, progressively SEC titles and in any event 4 increasingly national titles, either at Alabama or somewhere else.

Fourteen sequential long stretches of Ed Bagley's Top 25 Poll (hell, I figure I am as great at picking them as the essayists and mentors who pick the AP Top 25 and the Coaches' Top 25 Polls, in addition, I add some cleverness to relieve the burden).
