TUA S4 Concerns *some spoilers for what's been teased so far*
So I'm concerned about Season 4. I want to be hopeful, but I am concerned. C o n c e r n e d.
It's short. There's bits in TUA that I don't personally enjoy as much and skip, there's bits that could have been taken out and nothing would have changed... but I like having that bit of room for more: did we need the Ikea Mafia's viking foot funeral? No. But did we need it? Yes.
The ball pit. The ball pit concerns me on a number of levels, and I'm sure it will be funny, I hope it will be funny, I just hope it's relevant enough why they're in that setting to not be too gimmicky, e.g. it made sense they ended up in the bowling alley; they probably snuck out there as kids and so it was one location they would all know, but man that ball pit worries me like a sleep paralysis demon.
The potential for germaphobe Klaus (sorry that's probs not the correct term but I can't think of what it might be). I can see why he'd be afraid of death now, but is it germ/cleanliness specific? If so why? Klaus has been one of the least concerned about hygiene up to this point so they're laying a whole new framework that I hope they give sufficient depth to. I'm an OCD sufferer myself, about death anxiety in fact, and I haven't resonated OCD with Klaus before if that is what they go for - I'm open to it, just not a cheap OCD gimmick. There's So Much trauma in all these characters at this point, my worry isn't them exploring new avenues as much as not bothering to look into the trauma they've already heaped on and doing something new for the sake of it. If it's done well, I'm all for it, but there's some previous with trauma getting forgotten on TUA so...
The Jennifer Incident. Please, please let this be more interesting than a romance story.
Lila's baby. I love Lila, I don't have a problem with her being preggo etc, I worry a little that TUA tends to speed run life so what is this actually going to look like? Parenthood is such a big life changing deal that I'm curious / cautious about what they'll have done with the characters here.
Viktor. His schtick is that He's Mr Apocalypse, sadly that limits his character coming to a place of peace in some ways. But mostly just let him have an actual conversation? Please? He'll have had 6 years this time skip, if they bullshit that 'oh no one's really seen each other in 6 years' lazy ass nonsense I'll be fuming.
As above, there's been 6 YEARS here, I want to watch the characters and feel that time has passed, that they've interacted, have in jokes now, shared history, maybe not all of them but that makes it even better; have Diego and Klaus have a cleaning routine together to help Diego understand Klaus and trying to be supportive if brusque, but then defending this to his other siblings. Have Luther share some actually positive moments with his other siblings and not just have been in Sloane-hunting solitude, make him always be trying to host awkward family BBQs that the others force (or pretend to force) themselves to go to. Have literally any of the siblings be on the look out or Five's triggers for him - and better yet actually give him some now that he's had time for the PTSD to swell. I want the small nitty gritty details, I want the filling, I want to feel the expanse of time not just 'oh shit another week and there's an apocalypse and we haven't seen each other hey ho oh look a ball pit!'
Anyway, I'm hopeful, but concerned, and I'm sure I'll love it and don't intend to be negative, it just helps me to voice them. Either way, I pray for the fan fiction that follows the series most of all, the rising of the crowd to give us more of what the series does deliver and flesh out what it does not. Is it weird to almost be more excited for that?

The fandom loves to take Levin and Malachi from Aph and give them to other characters (usually Garroth and Laurance) in their rewrites, and it makes me uncomfortable.
It reminds me of early Owl House discourse where people were convinced Camila was an abusive mom and wanted Eda to adopt Luz. That was tied up in a lot of white favoritism, and I feel similar vibes with Aph. Can we just let one of the only canon poc characters keep her children please?
Like I get it, it’s clear from the original series that the kids are close with Garroth and Laurance, but that doesn’t mean they need to actually literally adopt them, because reminder they already have two moms! That’s regardless of if you ship Zoeymau or not, because it’s clear in the original series that they see both Aph and Zoey as parental figures. Focusing on their lack of father figures honesty feels sexist to me. Aph and Zoey are doing fine raising Levin and Malachi during season 1, they don’t need any help.

very scientific Argo 2 crew road trip seating arrangements:
Driving - Reyna. She’s the only one who a.) can drive and b.) can be trusted to drive. I’m pretty sure canonically the only other person on the Argo 2 with a drivers license is Percy.
Passenger’s seat - Frank. He’s helping navigate cause he’s the only person in the car who’s not adhd/dyslexic and also he needs the leg room cause he’s too tall.
Middle seats - Percy on passenger’s side and Piper on driver’s side window seats. Annabeth sitting in the middle. Annabeth’s helping navigate and the three of them are probably sharing snacks and napping on each other the entire ride. Piper also has easy access to mess with everyone sitting around her (Reyna, Annabeth, Jason, kind of also Leo).
Backseats - Jason on driver’s side, Hazel on passenger’s side, Leo in the middle. Leo gets too carsick to be in a window seat plus he’s the only person small enough to fit in that seat. Hazel is also probably a little motion sick and Jason’s mostly just making sure nobody in the back is dying. They’re all having A Time back there and occasionally passing snacks back to Nico and making sure he’s still alive every time the car goes over a bump.
Nico is in the trunk.

i'm thinking about the crown of choice again, thanks to the indecisive king and this specific line from it:
The only requirement for seeking an audience with the king was that afterward you had to do whatever he directed.
while the story overall focuses on the crown's ability to show its user a future moment—of a choice they must make—that, obviously, only comes up once a man brings the king it—a silver crown—as a gift, to which the king replies: "Thank you, but I already have a crown."
the crown depicted in the artwork of the story is always golden, although it does miss the familiar blue the lamp and the staff have; however, perhaps noteworthy, the king does wear those colors, which does raise a question:
is the king as much of a hint towards the crown's abilities as is the silver crown of the story?
considering that choice is complementary to knowledge, and knowledge can only answer questions that have to do with the past, it would make sense choice deals with the future to an extent. but, looking at other crowns in rwby, there may just be hints of a darker nature of the crown of choice.
namely, the crown in vacuo, and its two leaders; gillian and jax asturias, and their semblances.
gillian can siphon aura—connected to one's soul—by both giving and taking it, and can transfer it to another person by first draining it from someone else and acting as a link between the two herself. jax's semblance is literal mind control, capable of using it on multiple people at once and its effects can last for weeks, if not months.
there is one other crown that has popped up a few times when it comes to the crown of choice theories, and that is glynda's emblem. at first i was unsure if i wanted to mention it here as glynda has nothing to do with vacuo's crown, but then... well, carmine is incredibly loyal to gillian and has a same semblance as glynda, just less powerful version of it: telekinesis, an ability to control objects—and in glynda's case, also people ( as far as suspending them in the air counts ).
ultimately, it seems that outside of choice ( for now ), crowns symbolize control—of mind, body, and soul.
and ya know, while it would make sense for ozpin to keep the crown super-duper protected simply because of its future vision to the point that even his closest allies don't seem to be aware of its whereabouts... the crown having some sort of mind control ability—an ability to take away one's choice, if you will—would definitely give a much bigger reason than future vision that can seemingly incapacitate a person with indecision would.
random thought to cap this off: the great war came to an end after a battle in which the king of vale personally took part, utterly decimating everyone in his way—
—with a golden sword, to the point that afterwards, even his allies bowed down to him.
that's a very nice golden crown he has to match the golden sword.
...ozma, did you force the peace with the crown?
