So I listened to the Something About the Beatles (SATB) latest podcast today, titled “Dear Friend” with the topic of conversation John and Paul’s relationship in the 1970s. So I was thinking that this would be great because I feel like the primary things talked about when the John/Paul 1970s dynamic is discussed is Lennon Remembers, How Do You Sleep and the PlayBoy interview, maybe they’ll throw in the Lost Weekend for balance if they’re feeling so inclined... I’m obviously exaggerating here but... Firstly, before I start my rant, SATB is a good podcast, they usually have great guests (Erin Torkelson Weber the MVP of course), cover interesting topics and Robert Rodriguez is a good host who’s good at challenging things in the story that don’t ring true.
However, I feel like throughout the Beatles active years and into the post break-up years there’s a narrative that has been established that so many people are wedded to, to the point that it’s part of the orthodoxy of the band. In my opinion the narrative is that from first meeting up until the moment that John died Paul was always doing everything to be John’s BFF, he was always trying to be closest to John, no matter what John said or did, Paul would always be the one to try and mend fences and throughout the 70s he was doing whatever he could to end up back working with John. I don’t think this narrative is completely wrong but I think it’s uneven mainly because, in all this, Paul’s importance to John is completely glossed over and John’s manoeuvring to ensure that he was the most important person in Paul’s life is completely missed. So, I just want to highlight some of the instances off the top of my head where I feel that John showed how much he needed to be prioritised in Paul’s life and how much he wanted to mend fences post break-up, that I feel don’t get talked about often enough:
1) John’s competition with Jim McCartney: There’s a lot of stock put into the John-Paul-Stu triangle but that obscures a weird triangle that, maybe Paul wasn’t even aware of, but I think definitely existed which is John-Paul-Jim. By all accounts Jim didn’t want John around and was against John and Paul’s friendship. Jim had a lot of influence over Paul and had a lot of sway as his sole parent once Mary died and I think John was resentful of that. We all know about the ultimatum John gave Paul when he took the job (that Jim implored him to get) which jeopardised his commitment to the band. In John’s eyes and own words, Paul choosing to quit his job to commit fully to the band was Paul choosing John over his dad. No one (in books I’ve only seen Joshua Wolf Shenk discuss this) discusses how Jim was effectively John’s Stu, someone that obstructed his closeness and ability to influence Paul to the point that over a decade later, post break up, John saw Paul focusing on the band as a victory over his dad. John had a jealously of Paul’s closeness and prioritisation of his family that would rear its head further down the road but, by and large, I rarely see this discussed.
2) John’s jealousy of Paul’s other close friendships: On this front, we hear ad nauseam, about Paul’s jealousy of Stu, which is fine because, even without Paul acknowledging it, it’s obvious from space that Paul was jealous of Stu’s closeness to John but we never hear about John’s jealousy of Paul’s other close friendships. All the Beatles were close to Mal Evans but I think Paul was especially close to him (he was the first Beatle to befriend Mal, Mal lived with him at Cavendish for some time, Mal helped Paul write some songs etc.) which got to John. In John’s own words when discussing Magical Mystery Tour he was “choked” when he found out that Paul had come up with the idea with Mal and Mal’s widow has said that Yoko told her that John had told her (whew Chinese whispers time) that he was jealous of Mal’s friendship with Paul... Then there’s Tara Browne, it’s interesting that despite Tara apparently being really friendly and outgoing John never took to him. Maybe it was because Tara was upper class. Maybe it was because after pestering him for months, Paul chose to do LSD with Tara instead of with John and the rest of the band. Maybe it was because Paul invited Tara up to Liverpool, right after Christmas, to hang out with his family resulting in the infamous moped crash. If I put my tin foil hat on, in “A Day in the Life” when John’s reaction to the death of a man in a car crash is “to laugh” is that meaningful? The song is thought to reference Tara but does that passage give us a glimpse into how John saw Tara? If he’s laughing about Tara dying then it sounds like he really didn’t like him, possibly due to his close friendship with Paul.
3) John’s resentment of Paul’s romantic partners: So this one is interesting... There are quite a few examples to walk through so here goes. We have the incident in Hamburg where Paul is in bed with a woman and John (in the aftermath of Stu’s death and probably high on prellies) comes charging in attacking the girl, cutting up her clothes and basically scares her out of the room, maybe that was just the prellies but there seems to be too much of a pattern to ignore. Then there’s Jane of course, we don’t know a ton about John’s interactions with Jane over the years but it’s interesting that he makes a terrible first impression with her (asking her to describe how girls masturbate) and it seems that their relationship is cordial at best going forward (note how Jane and Paul never go on holiday alone with John and Cynthia in the same way George and Ringo did with their respective partners). Peggy Lipton also tells the story about how when she came to hang out with Paul in 1965, John was really rude to her out of nowhere and asked “what she was doing there” and she seemed to think that John couldn’t understand why Paul wanted to take her to dinner if all he was going to do was fuck her. Then, there’s Linda... John consistently gives interviews in the early 70s when he talks about how in a few years Paul will wake up and leave Linda, according to Ray Connolly John couldn’t believe that Paul was staying faithful to Linda and then there’s other weird occurrences in that late 60s/early 70s period. There’s the fan who claims seeing John about to hit a pregnant Linda before Paul stepped in, there’s John rushing to get married as soon as Paul does (8 days later I think which is WILD to me), there’s John describing Paul’s wedding as a “funeral” in ‘71... What does all this tell us? That John was too busy replacing Paul with Yoko to care about Paul anymore? In my book, it’s John’s fears being realised that Paul would always prioritise his family over him when push came to shove, in John’s mind he had won when he was competing with Jim for Paul but once Linda came into the picture and gave Paul the family he always wanted, I think in John’s mind, it was game over. Maybe if Paul had divorced Linda in the 70s (like John predicted) they would have worked together more, we’ll never know, but in a similar way to Yoko, Linda was a wedge in John’s relationship to Paul.
4) John’s attempts post break-up to reach out to Paul: We hear a lot about Paul reaching out to John in the 70s and not engaging with the feuding anymore, it’s Paul that decides not to respond in kind to HDYS, it’s Paul that invites John to the Venus and Mars sessions, it’s Paul going to the Dakota to see/try to see John, it’s always Paul seemingly who misses John and wants to reestablish their relationship. However, according to May Pang, John was happy to do Bangladesh if Paul was doing it too. According to Ray Connolly, John gave him a letter to give to Paul, in the hopes that Paul would call him. According to Paul and other people involved in the One to One concert, John asked Paul to appear with him during his performance in ‘72. And in the face of the backlash from HDYS, John’s the one going around calling Paul his best friend ,other than Yoko, and sending him Beatles bootlegs for Christmas.
All this is to say that John and Paul did not have this one sided relationship where only Paul cared and wanted them to repair things or where only Paul was looking to manoeuvre a situation so he was closest to John, John also wanted to be the closest person in Paul’s life, he was jealously protective of their partnership (see his angry reaction to Paul not coming to him and only him to help with Eleanor Rigby) he also seemed to fear losing Paul to his family which may have happened in his mind, who knows. Because John’s most famous post Beatles interviews have him bashing Paul and Paul’s had 40 years to talk about how much he loved John, there’s this view that Paul loved John more than John loved Paul or that John loved Paul until Yoko came in the picture, at which point Paul was no longer relevant. If Paul meant nothing to John anymore, why did he even bother writing HDYS, if he was so tuned out he wouldn’t have been bothered by Ram, none of the critics were so why was John all over that album more than a Paul is Dead truther?! Why did Yoko block Paul’s calls to John, they were happy to hang out with Ringo, what was so threatening about Paul? Why, according to Robert Rosen, were John’s diaries full of his obsessions about Paul?? We’ll never know a lot of the answers to these questions but I would love it if more podcasts even acknowledged that these questions exist and acknowledged that Paul was such a huge part of John’s life till his dying day: “we have our ups and downs but I would do anything for Paul and I think he would do anything for me” John Lennon December 8 1980.
Apologies for the rant it seems listening to Beatles podcasts always seems to set me off! But SATB is a good podcast, just feel that there are so many interesting conversations that get missed in favour of the usual narrative time and time again, so close but no cigar!
Thanks to @onesweetdreampodcast and @anotherkindofmindpod for being the only podcast I’ve heard to date brave enough to discuss these questions, I think doing that will give us a much better understanding of the Beatles and how their story unfolded.
By the way most of what I referenced above can be found in @amoralto incredible blog, have fun!

This Is Me - Prompt Fic
Title: This Is Me Pairing: Taron x reader Rating: M Warnings: Light smut [oral] A/N: This is a one-shot fic generated off a prompt. I hope you enjoy this short, sweet little fic. Once the idea grabbed hold of me, I couldn’t help but write it! Enjoy! x Prompt: “Could you do a prompt maybe where taron helps the reader feel more confident about her body? maybe some smut in it too?”
Tumblr media
You stood in front of the bathroom mirror, putting the finishing touches on your red lipstick and delicately dabbing away any excess. You’d decided to go dramatic with your makeup, partly in an attempt to draw attention away from how, well, round your face was. You’d also decided to keep your hair down in curls around your face instead of putting it up in an elegant updo. The last thing you needed was to accentuate your ample cheeks.
You walked back out into the bedroom you shared with Taron, your gorgeous dress laid out carefully on the bed. You had spent a lot of time choosing just the right dress, and you trailed your fingers over the fabric carefully. You and Taron had been dating for close to six months now, but today would be the first actual public event you’d be attending together. To say you were nervous was an understatement. Of course it had trickled out already that he was seeing someone, and there was a lot of speculation about the so-called mystery girl, but hardly anyone except your mutual friends knew who you were. They all loved you, which was lovely, but you knew the press and the rest of the world probably wouldn’t be so kind about your figure.
You’d worked hard to accept your love handles and thunder thighs over the years but you didn’t look forward to being assessed by the media, and torn apart by the internet. Facing that kind of backlash made you want to hide under the covers and cancel on going to the event. Just as you were struggling with this thought, Taron knocked on the doorframe and smiled at you.
“Almost ready, love?” he asked you sweetly, looking entirely handsome in his trim gray suit.
“I’m not sure I can do this, T,” you admitted, and he walked across the carpeted floor to you, his face full of concern.
“Do you not feel well? What’s going on?” he asked, feeling your forehead but you pushed his hand away.
“It’s not that. I’m fine, I just know everyone’s going to hate me,” you sighed, going to the dresser and yanking open the drawer that held your underthings.
“How could they possibly hate you?” he asked, a bit incredulously as you angrily yanked out your shapewear, dumping it all on the bed.
“It doesn’t take a genius to see that I’m … a bit fat, Taron,” you sighed. “And there’s no amount of Spanx in the world that can suddenly make me skinny.”
“Oh,” he said softly, taking in your sudden nerves and insecurity. “Well it won’t do to call yourself negative things, for one. And I didn’t choose to fall in love with someone based on their weight. And finally, you’re going to look gorgeous standing next to me because that’s exactly where I want you, and nowhere else. The world doesn’t get to make that decision for me,” he said, pulling you to him and kissing your forehead sweetly.
“But Taron, all those fans are going to hate that you’re with a girl like me,” you said, pursing your lips slightly.
“A girl like you? One who is incredibly smart, funny as hell, with the biggest heart and more beautiful than she’ll ever know?” Taron said gently, looking at you softly.
“Yeah, that girl,” you said quietly.
“I know it’s difficult sometimes, because people will be mean online when they can hide behind a screen. But that doesn’t inform the person you are,” he said, tipping your chin up to look at him. “You’ve just got to ignore it, love. I do, believe me. There are awful things said about me, sometimes I think just to get attention. But that’s not the way to do it, at any rate,” he said.
“I can’t believe anyone would say anything badly about you, T,” you said, shaking your head. “But I’ll do my best to get through this.”
“That’s my girl. My gorgeous, lovely, amazing girl,” he said, kissing you a bit hungrily and leaving you breathless and wanting more. “So put that pretty dress on and let’s go be gorgeous together, shall we?” he grinned, his excitement for the premiere event infectious.
“I can’t argue with that,” you smile.
“And all of that? Leave it,” he said, gesturing to the shapewear you had dumped out on the bed. “There’s no need to torture yourself for anyone’s benefit. And I rather like the idea of you in nothing else but that dress,” he snickered, his eyes roaming over your body and making you feel naked despite the fact you were in still in your sweats.
“Taron,” you breathed out as he merely chuckled, stole another kiss (now you were going to have to touch up your makeup) and left you to get yourself into your dress. You stripped off your sweats and left them in a pile on the floor before putting on your support bra. It was nude and blah, but at least kept your breasts supported and in place; the last thing you’d need was a wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet. You looked over your shapewear and then thought what the hell. Your dress was floor length and the only person who would have to know you were daring to go bare was Taron himself.
You stepped into the dress and pulled it up into place, zipping the side zipper up and then returning to the mirror to look at yourself. Adequate, you thought, fixing your lipstick, slipping on your heels and grabbing your rhinestone-encrusted clutch before sweeping out of the bedroom. Taron was waiting in the hallway for you as you descended down the stairs; the way he looked at you should have left you with no doubts in your mind. You’d chosen a deep emerald green dress with an empire waist and low back that accentuated your chest and hid all the rest under the flowing, floor-length skirt. Taron had insisted that you ignore the price tag and to choose what you felt most confident in, and so the bodice was accented with Swarovski crystals too. You glittered and shone and for just a moment, allowed yourself to feel as pretty as you knew Taron thought you were.
“Stunning, darling,” he said, opening his arms for you. You stepped into them and let him pull you in, enveloped by his arms as he kissed you on the neck a few times, right in the spot you loved most, eliciting a small moan from you.
“You’d better stop that if you want us to actually leave,” you said under your breath.
“I suppose we ought to try and be on time,” Taron chuckled, knowing full well the limo was already outside waiting to take you both to the red carpet. “But I’m not going to be able to get over you in this dress the whole night through,” he said, trailing his fingers over the exposed skin of your back, sending shivers down your spine.
He helped escort you to the limo and you both climbed in, careful not to trip over the voluminous skirt of your dress.
“I can’t even find you under all of this!” Taron laughed, pawing playfully at the poofy fabric and making you giggle.
“Yes, well, maybe, just maybe, there’s a hidden treasure at the very center,” you smirked at him, piquing his interest. You were both well enough alone in the back of the limo, the window between you and the chauffeur tightly shut.
“Is that so, love?” Taron mumbled, his voice reaching that deeper octave you always craved to hear, usually when he was turned on or at least emotional. “You’re such a minx,” he couldn’t help but grin.
“I have a boyfriend who looks exceedingly fit in that suit of his. I wasn’t going to waste an opportunity,” you smirked back at him.
“Come here,” he groaned slightly, pulling you to him and instantly crushing his lips against yours, his hands roaming over your bare shoulders and back before reaching into your hair and tugging on it slightly, giving you sparks of pleasure that traveled down your spine. You opened your lips to let him in, your tongues dancing together as you both deepened the kiss. You could feel the fabric of your dress shifting as Taron did his best to try and find his way under it, but you both had to break apart and laugh when he couldn’t do that very easily, and definitely not one-handedly.
“Tell me again why you had to go and hide your delicious body under all of this?” he asked, pouting slightly at you.
“Honey, no one wanted to see me in something form-fitting,” you replied.
“Oh but I did,” he said, his green eyes fairly staring into your y/e/c eyes. You couldn’t look away, his gaze fairly mesmerizing you. “You have no idea what your body does to me,” he whispered, finally finding the hem of the skirt and its many layers and slowly rolling it up, his fingertips brushing your lower legs and making the heat pool at your center in anticipation. He continued rolling the dress until it was above your knees, making you hold onto the dress from there and placing kisses on the insides of your lower thighs.
You could feel yourself shaking slightly as he worked his way slowly up, pulling you to the edge of the limo seat and spreading your legs to give him access as he kneeled in front of you. Despite how much you had come to despise your thighs, Taron seemed to love getting lost between them, and you could never deny him that.
“Took my advice, eh?” he smirked from somewhere under the dress, swiping his fingers through your already-wet folds and making you moan out for him.
And oh the way he could make you feel. You could no longer focus on the things you didn’t like about your body as his tongue and fingers explored every part of your core, licking and sucking in all the right ways. You threw your head back, your eyes rolling back in your head a bit as he drove you closer and closer to the edge, giving you everything you could ever want. You shouted his name as you came against his mouth, and you could only hope you weren’t messing up your dress. But the way you felt with your orgasm washing through you, the endless ripples as he lapped up your juices, made it difficult to really care.
Taron found a tissue and managed to clean you up slightly before letting your dress back down, pleased with himself that he’d made you feel so satisfied. “No more nonsense about your curves. They’re mine and I love them,” he said, stealing a kiss from you, the taste of your own climax still lingering on his lips and overwhelming you a bit.
“Okay,” you nodded weakly, still feeling a bit spent.
“I fully intend to show the world how proud I am of you,” he smiled, a bit of a twinkle in his eye as you tried to compose yourself. You were close to your destination and you refused to walk the carpet in a post-orgasmic haze.
“And I’m so proud of you, T,” you smiled back, your heart swelling a bit as the importance of this premiere really struck you - and the fact that you were both fully stepping out as a couple together. This was what he wanted, and you realized that you wanted it too. You no longer wanted to be just the rumor; you wanted to show the world just how much he had captured your heart. Taron deserved that much, to have a woman by his side who adored him, and you did.
The limo pulled up to the red carpet and you took a moment to double-check your makeup, fixing your lipstick once again and making sure Taron wasn’t wearing any of it either, and then he opened the door and you took a deep breath as he offered his hand to you.
“Here we go,” he grinned to you as you slid your hand in his, putting on your most charming, confident smile for all of the cameras to see as you managed to effortlessly exit the limo. Taron slid his arm around you, his hand settling at your lower back as he escorted you toward the waiting cameras, already flashing brightly and blinding you.
The carpet would be both an exhilarating and dizzying experience, but with Taron by your side, guiding you through it, you knew you would make it through just fine. He was as suave and humble and charming as ever, talking you up as reporters demanded his attention. You weren’t always sure where to look, so usually you just stared at Taron’s lovely face, and he always grinned and stole a kiss when he caught you gazing at him.
You were grateful when you made it into the darkened theater, your cheeks hurting from smiling so much. You felt like you could drop a little of the pretense and relax a little, and that was nice. You leaned in close to Taron as your eyes both adjusted to the dim light. “Did I do alright?” you asked in his ear.
“You were brilliant out there, love,” he smiled happily. “I got to show you off. It’s been one of the best nights so far and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“I’m glad I could do that for you,” you grinned, just happy to see him so happy as you both found your marked seats.
“I know it was a lot but I’m so proud of you for coming out here and doing this with me,” he said, leaning his head on your shoulder for a sweet moment. You couldn’t resist running your fingers through his soft, fluffy hair.
“I wanted to be there with you Taron. For all my insecurities, you’re what matters most. I’d jump through fire for you,” you said softly as he looked up at you through his eyelashes. He always looked so vulnerable when he did that, and you felt your heart skip a beat in your chest.
“I’ve truly fallen for the most beautiful woman in the world,” he said sweetly, placing a kiss on the back of your hand. “And now the whole world knows it.”
You couldn’t help but smile softly at that, just the two of you lost in that moment together while everyone else was still filing in and finding their seats. You hoped the comments online would be kind, and there probably would be plenty of those. You knew you’d have to steel yourself for the not-so-nice ones but with Taron looking at you like he was, there was no way those internet trolls could win. He made you feel completely loved from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes, and to not revel in that would be a shame. So if there was any day worth saying to the world, this is me, this day, right now, with the man of your dreams by your side, would be it. You gazed at Taron, grateful to have him, and replied, “Now the world does indeed.”

1st lesson of 2018: It’s (Clout over Basic Decency) Everyday, Bro
CONTENT/TRIGGER WARNING: MENTIONS OF SUICIDE, DEATH & MENTAL HEALTH
Tumblr media
For those who have no idea about who this generic American high school jock-looking guy is, the guy above is Logan Paul, an American Youtuber and “actor” notorious for having a obnoxious personality, an even more annoying brother and an equally brainwashed “Logang” consisting of children and pre-teens.
On the 31st December 2017, he uploaded a vlog where him and his friends went to the Aokigahara forest of Japan (also known as the Suicide Forest)  and filmed their “spooky adventure”. During this 15 minute vlog, he stumbles upon a dead body hanging from a tree, films it up close, focusing on certain bits of the corpse & make jokes on it, and uploads it to YouTube for millions of underaged fans to see. In other words, he had no consideration for the culture & laws of the country he was visiting, nor for those who could potentially have flashbacks or suicidal thoughts from this video, and certainly not even for the dead.  As expected, this has garnered a ton of backlash from Japanese & non Japanese people alike, especially those from the YouTube & mental health community and suicide/self-harm survivors or those who have lost someone to suicide. This lead to Paul issuing two apologies on Twitter and YouTube, which seemed incredibly insincere to many. After all, if you have to issue a second apology because you mentioned how you get views & film for 460+ days more than the word “Sorry” and end it with “Peace ✌️ #logang4life”, you bet no-one is going to take your second one that seriously.
Tumblr media
However, what was more harrowing than his actions, were his fanbase that were defending those actions. I can’t blame them, they’re children & they don’t know better. However, despite the fact that their idol told them specifically in his second apology not to defend his actions, they completely ignore that very statement & go on to post many bizarre reasons as to why people should “just let it go” and why they shall forever stan Logan. They even go on to spread xenophobic hate on people who criticise him (case in example, Reina Scully).  Some examples of things I’ve seen in this video is “He’s human like the rest of us. Everybody makes mistakes”, “Can we stop all of the hate, it’s a new year!!”, “It’s not like he killed someone” and even someone saying “That dead body should be lucky that he appeared in Logan Paul’s video” Little do they know, they are completely belittling the fact that a person, who seemed like he was stuck in his completely dark and abysmal mind, took his life, and how his loved ones now have to deal with the repercussions of bereavement and loss; and that another person saw that as an opportunity for exploitation & a joke. They make death seem like a joke, just like their idol did. Which is why I have a few points to address:
Dear #Logang or Logangsters or whatever the hell you’re called,
I understand personally what it’s like to be infatuated with a celebrity. I get a certain light, happy feeling whenever I see my favourite celebrity & I think to myself “Yeah, this person is literally gold!” You also probably get this feeling on a frequent basis whenever you see Logan. I also understand that being part of a fandom makes you feel a sense of belonging & unity. But ask yourselves this. What drew you to this guy? Why do you enjoy his videos?
Is it because he’s attractive? (which in that case, they’re plenty more fish in the sea) Is it because he’s a “maverick” and “living life to the fullest”? Is it because he “appreciates” his fans and the people around him?
The reason why I ask you this is because I really want you to consider his actions. See, whenever you are obsessed with a celebrity, it’s easy to throw moral compass out of the window; it’s easy to forget what’s right and what’s wrong. However, you cannot deny the fact that it is common sense to not film a dead body and to make jokes about it, irrespective of what your coping mechanism is. Even if you have a tiny lapse of judgement, people would have the sensibility not to edit that footage and upload it with a clickbait title for your cult of 15 million children to see. It’s also common sense to not run around a foreign country, disturb its people and nature & treat it as if it’s your playground. I cannot, for the life of me, understand how you find disrespect funny? As far as “living life” is concerned, I’m pretty happy sitting down and leading a calm “boring” life rather than be an obnoxious inconvenience to those surrounding me.
“But.. he’s human?? Haven’t we all done mistakes?” Let me educate you on what a mistake is. It’s stepping on the back on someone’s shoe whilst walking (I should know about that). It’s occasionally forgetting the odd birthday. It’s accidentally spilling something; in other words, something small & occasionally forgiven. However, being disrespected, even after your death, is something the majority of people can’t tolerate. On top of that, he’s a 22 year old, fully developed adult who has the ability to differentiate right from wrong; He isn’t a kid who needs people to constantly educate him on social etiquette and sensibility. He saw an insensitive bait for views, he took it, he screwed up, and now he needs to be held accountable.
“He just wanted to raise awareness about suicide. Doesn’t that make him good?” This video had the same impact as “13 Reasons Why”. The complete opposite.                                                                                          There are several other ways to raise awareness about suicide, other than going all the way to a suicide forest to exploit someone’s death for views; Sitting down & thoroughly explaining why mental health should be a top priority, explaining the effects of going through suicidal thoughts, self-harm & mental illnesses, and providing resources & helplines to help those who are distraught is more convenient, correct and cheaper (but why do that when you’re an obnoxious brat with a couple of thousands of dollars & yes men to spare?)
“I’ve forgiven him. At least he’s said sorry”   Please, spare me the naivety. To be frank, his apologies (if you would like to call it that) is the equivalent of saying sorry after shooting someone in the leg. If this guy wasn’t a celebrity & if this didn’t get the backlash it received, he would have slithered away in his anonymity. Another reason why he’s apologising is because he wants to salvage the tiny amount of respect that he has so that he can guilt-trip you into liking him again. One of my favourite YouTubers, Nathan Zed, once said in a video that “You have a choice. Entertain & educate, or entertain & manipulate”  It doesn’t take a donkey to realise that Logan is doing the latter. As one tweet rightfully put it, he views you the same way as he sees that dead body: as a way to earn money. Please listen to yourself.
Even to the parents of these children, you have an equal responsibility of monitoring your child’s internet access. In fact, you have a larger responsibility of monitoring what content your child sees, since YouTube are failing to fulfil that very responsibility (with many examples of inappropriate content related to child exploitation on the YouTube kids app not being taken down). I’m not a parent myself, hence I have zero rights to talk about parenting, but all I know is that if my younger loved ones were watching these kind of people that encourage them to forget all human etiquette & join their “cult”, I would tell them to think about the consequences that their actions could face. And possibly break their device & delete their accounts while I’m at it.
You may choose to ignore my advice (after all, it’s mostly a free world and you can choose whatever you want to do). You can “dab” on me like I’m a hater. But when you choose to condone the actions of a celebrity who self-admittedly screwed up royally, and when you look back at this ten or fifteen years later, you would probably think “What the hell was I thinking?” If you think about it, for one person who spouts blatant and shameless ignorance about such sensitive issues, there would be another person who would be thinking that their death would bring nothing but a sigh of relief to those around them and choose to leave. I hope and pray for nothing but that you educate yourselves and become more aware of the effects of depression and suicide. Because as far as I know, if we take out the time to listen and empathise with those who are suffering with such illnesses and lend them a hand, I swear that you could give someone a reason to smile and to live (and to possibly do something Logan Paul couldn’t do, even if he tried). And if this is the generation we could become, then would raise my head high and be proud to be part of this.
Last but not the least, to those who are surviving these dark moments. Please get yourselves the help that you need (I will be reblogging some hotlines, websites and resources as soon as I upload this). I, along with all of the people of this world, have no idea how tomorrow would turn out, but the only way you could know is by being there. And regardless of how tomorrow turns out, I would certainly welcome you with open arms and stand by you.
PS: By the time this post comes out, you would have probably found out that Youtube has severed certain ties with Logan Paul. But considering that him and his brother are still trying to gain sympathy (and subscribers), his head won’t be coming out of his arse any time soon. So please still think about who and what you’re watching.
