Oh yeah va availability is absolutely an issue. This is a very low budget series (Kerry even mentioned that he personally had to help do the animation) so they're probably going to stick to ones they have in house.
in house or close to the house, at least. besides budget i'm also guessing scheduling might also be causing problems depending on when they started working on these episodes, thanks to the shutdown. because of that they had to change the scope, too, only having four episodes, so for that reason i wouldn't be surprised if the last two episodes had other vas as well--could be these first two are also saving money on va front, you never know lol
it won't take that long to find out, i just hope the remaining episodes aren't all post-V9--unless i get strq lore. then all is forgiven lmao

you could probably use the sword of destruction to save a life. assuming that the relic, not simply as a sword but by its magical properties, can destroy / kill something / someone with a simple wish (if one with a cost, who knows), then you can probably also choose how much you want to destroy.
like, say... using the relic of destruction to destroy a being of destruction that just happens to part of a person.
one unexpected act of kindness to save a life when you could have taken it.

do you ever just stop and think how salem changing tune towards cinder was depended on watts contacting them and proving his usefulness. how salem sends the hound directly after penny, but sends cinder to break watts out of prison under the impression that he can control penny and is able to bring her directly to them. how watts tells cinder that in his message he said he has penny "under control", not that he can "telekinetically force her to do whatever i want"; was that something salem knew? did she intentionally keep it vague to make it sound like watts could control penny—"to gain some control over the puppet masquerading as the winter maiden."—so that cinder would be more willing to do what she tells her to—"all you need to concern yourself with is your ability to act when i tell you to."
because i do and it keeps me up at night.

tbqh i do kinda want to see cinder lose control of her grimm arm. not in a sense that the grimm will rapidly spread and take control over her completely, but more in a 'cinder chooses not to use it on another maiden but the arm decides to do it anyway' kind of way.

"and oscar... just isn't himself." of course not, he's attending some very ozpin-like inner circle meetings—which probably isn't a good sign as far as the merge is concerned, but hey. it is what it is.

the mystery girl is either the summer maiden or has silver eyes. those would be my two options—i don't see any other reason why they'd be having a secret, no eavesdroppers allowed, meeting with those specific people involved otherwise—and even then the silver eyes option is on shakier base as i can't see any strong reason as to why keep her identity hidden at this point (other than chaos, which. okay, does fit crwby to an extent lmao), but also the reason why they'd be bringing her into the fold now of all times is... kinda fucked up. like, ruby's gone? here's a new silver-eyed warrior bc there always needs to be one for... reasons :)
of course, there's also the possibility of both. which would suck for the mystery girl, like wow. imagine being dealt the worst hand in life twice over? sheesh.

if the summer maiden's identity is going to be known only to a limited group of people and that group is what we saw in the first episode of beyond, winter and raven being there is going to be so interesting.
like. to prove ironwood wasn't keeping any secrets from her, not only did winter tell weiss about fria but she brought here there, behind the glass, letting her know she was the next in line to inherit the powers.
and raven was the one to tell yang and weiss to question everything, to not just blindly believe everything they're told and that even when people are being forthcoming with information, they might still be hiding something; the implication that she would have told yang about her being the spring maiden had yang stayed is right there, too.
it's obviously a different situation—the summer maiden's identity wouldn't be winter's or raven's secret to tell—, but their past interactions with weiss and yang show so much potential for the taking in the future.

the common bond between the inner circle members is that the moment they learn the truth about salem and her immortality, their flaws take the center stage.
it happened with lionheart. it happened with qrow. and it happened with ironwood.
ozpin told his version of the truth to team strq and afterwards, raven went looking for more because she needed to know what else there was, and with each discovery, the more terrifying the world became.
raven was raised by bandits who send her to beacon to learn how to kill huntsmen. likely due to her upbringing, her survival instinct is strong, and she'll do anything, things others won't, to do so.
let's say the "we" raven talks about re: finding the spring maiden is the inner circle, and use that to paint a picture. say, that all these three things happened around the same time, let's say within a year:
raven learns the truth about salem after looking for information on her own
raven trains the spring maiden ["she... ran. abandoned her training, everyone."] ["and later, one of them chose to abandon her duties in favor of her own self-interest."] ["no matter how much training i put her through, she never learned!"]
yang is born
maybe raven didn't leave immediately after learning the truth. maybe it took a little bit longer, sticking around for one reason or another, be it yang or training the spring maiden or both, but the thought that salem is immortal being with powerful magic won't leave her mind.
and here she is, training the spring maiden who, in her mind, wasn't cut out for this world. who was weak and, as per the bandit tribe that raised her, the weak die, the strong live. those were the rules they lived by.
the world is a terrifying place; salem is terrifying, and at this point raven sees no way following ozpin doesn't end in early trip to the grave. unless... well
salem might be powerful, but the maidens are pretty powerful too. and there, in front of her, is a spring maiden who just won't learn, who's basically useless in terms of using the powers she has.
["you turned yourself into a monster, just for power." "look who's talking."]
raven wants to survive. she'll do anything to survive, and old habits die hard; she was raised by bandits—the weak die, the strong live; and raven can't be weak—, sent to beacon to learn how to kill huntsmen.
and just like with the other members of the inner circle once they learn about salem's immortality, raven's flaws come forth like a wrecking ball, and she backslides into the person she perhaps once when she first arrived at beacon.
and it horrifies her, because she had changed, and now all those years have gone to waste. she has a family, a baby, and now she feels like she can't do that anymore, can't have that life anymore, too afraid of what she might do if she stays... and so, she leaves.
with how raven has been described as complicated and troubled, i seriously doubt her reasons behind leaving were simple, and i think something akin to above fits the bill pretty well.

idk if this is just my current 'the summer maiden is a child' brainrot talking, but even the epilogue has this focus on children; from the orphan kid to the two kids being brought food to the bunch of kids playing with happy huntresses, it all feels intentional. like hey, look at these kids, how they're handling this situation, how it started vs how it's going right now, etc.
it's like what clover said: "what good is saving the world without another generation waiting in the wings? hopefully they'll leave remnant better than we left it for them." the children are a focal point in the epilogue, in a way, and it would not surprise me if this was brought further, right into the main stage with the summer maiden.
