My favorite unofficial friend group is Rachel, Grover, Percy, Annabeth, Nico, and Will cause yes I am well aware that some of these have no basis in cannon whatsoever but I think the dynamic would be fun like:

They’re all first arc kids and I like to think there’s some odd unspoken bond from that

Tartarus club

Golden trio

Also people forget that Rachel and Grover spent a lot of time together during hoo so I’d imagine they’d be close

Nico and Percy as the token big three kids

Grover and Percy are best friends I will die on this hill

I like to think that Annabeth and Will had a similar relationship to Percy and Nico (minus the crush lol) and that they’re super close these days.

All of them fought in both big wars

Grover as the token straight friend

Rachel + Will dying all of their hair

Solangelo Percabeth double dates

Rachel and Grover stop each other from feeling like third wheels (which rarely happens)

They all hang out at Sally’s … like a lot. Cause she’s pretty much the closest any of them has to a mother figure (except will??)

Annabeth and Will nerding out about science (Physics v.s. Biology)

Nico and Rachel are liberal arts kids to death

They all have a lot of fun introducing Nico to modern day things. It’s so entertaining that they dedicate one day a month to all meeting up and showing Nico something new.

(Annabeth is black eat me) Rachel has curly hair as well so her and Annabeth swap hair care tips.

The girls actually become SUPER close and hang out all the time.

Everyone kind of takes up a big sibling role for Will and Nico. Percy and Annbeth especially and they often coach them through a lot of being-a-good-councilor-hurdles

Rachel teaches Nico how to paint. (I just remember him admiring her paintings in TON and I won’t let it go)

Will and Grover (and probably Percy) grow weed. Will uses it a lot as a medicinal herb, but he also smokes it with Grover and Percy from time to time. Also they all make weed brownies together one time and then watch Disney’s Hercules together and it’s a wreck.

TONS of karaoke, made all the better by the fact that none of them can sing. Rachel is definitely the best tho

They all borrow each other’s clothes. This leads to a lot of interesting fashion choices

Rachel introduces Will and Percy to anime and they get SUPER into it

Annabeth and Grover build eco-friendly treehouses at camp for the nymphs and satyers

They talk about their trauma a lot. It’s much easier for them to talk about it to one another because they know they’ll understand

SLEEPOVERS. The do all the stereotypical stuff: face masks, truth or dare, movies.. ect

Percy and Nico have a lot of adventures in cooking, which they both like to do. They’ve make at least 8 different types of blue pasta

Will and Percy are honorary horse girls (wills from the country and Percy just likes horses) and they go for Pegasus/unicorn rides around camp

They all work really well in battle. Anytime there is a monster the six of them can usually take care of it in 15 minutes

They will literally just show up at one another’s at 3 am to go get shakes

Percy Nico and Rachel have the same/ similar music tastes and they go to concerts together

They help each other for quests and stuff

A very active group chat

I skipped a couple episodes where I wrote down my thoughts, but I'm about to rewatch and write don't worry! warning: lots of screaming, fangirling, heart attacks, and nonsense below :))

Annabeths trust in Percy being alive is literally just like her belief that Luke is alive later on and even though it's kinda sorta different (or at least people are gonna treat it that way) I'm all here for it

headcanon that percy and annabeth are both equally infatuated with the HSM franchise: PJO version

• the obsession started after the sea of monsters when annabeth stayed over at percy's apartment and they argued over which movie to watch

• eventually, they decided on watching HSM together since neither of them had seen it and they ended up loving it

• at karaoke nights at camp half-blood, they often sang Troy/Gabriella duets (The Start of Something New, What I've Been Looking For, Breaking Free)

• admittedly, they sounded terrible, but singing is so much easier and less embarrassing when they do it together, so neither one of them cared

• the implications of their duet were completely lost on them, but it was one of the main reasons the camp ships them

• after The Titan's curse takes place, annabeth continues the tradition of staying over percy's apartment (also because they missed each other since she got kidnapped) and watched HSM 2 and they both fell even more in love with the franchise

• the morning of percy's fourteenth birthday, he and annabeth baked cookies in the kitchen while blasting 'Work This Out' so loud that the neighbors complained

• sally found the loud music annoying too at first but completely forgot about it when she watched percy and annabeth sing 'You Are the Music in Me' while throwing flour at each other, obviously falling for each other

• percy and annabeth completely shut down the idea of them dating when sally not-so-subtly teases them about it, but sally wasn't fooled

• throughout percy's and annabeth's eighth grade year, they frequently email each other (they know demigods and electronics are a bad idea but they don't care when it comes to each other) and constantly sign-off their emails with quotes or song lyrics to hilariously describe their current mood

• "dude, my brothers literally came into my room and spilled water all over my plans for the camp's next prom night. come fix it." - wisegirl12, how did we get from the top of the world to the bottom of the heap?

• the year HSM 3 came out, percy and annabeth weren't on good terms and didn't speak to each other unless it was about preparing for the upcoming war

• after the battle of the labyrinth (more importantly, after their kiss), percy iris messages annabeth and apologizes for how distant he's been and admits he been avoiding everyone and everything related to being a demigod because he's scared that he'll die before he'll graduate

• annabeth apologizes for being so rude to him and admits that's she's just scared she'll lose him and is shitty at expressing her emotions

• the two continue to talk about anything and everything and eventually get to the topic of HSM 3

• they admit to each other that they hadn't seen it since it came out, so they make a pact: if they both survive the war, annabeth has to come over and watch the movie with him

• later that week, percy secretly purchases the DVD for the movie and promises to not open it until then

• as we know, the two survive the war and finally get together on percy's birthday

• as sally comes to pick the two up from camp, they run to the car hand-in-hand and sally immediately figures it out and is so happy for them

• sally spends almost the entire car ride to the apartment enforcing the 'door open at all times rule', much to the couple's embarrassment

• later that night when annabeth stays over, she and percy cuddle on the couch and talk and then annabeth reminds him of the pact they made

• percy leaps out of his seat and grabs the DVD, much to annabeth's surprise, and the two cuddle and watch the movie together

Fighting in two wars as a medic has certainly given him some PTSD, he had to see some pretty gruesome things, so sometimes he struggles with that.

Will is the type of person who will do anything to make you feel comfortable. Even if he's hurting or struggling he'll hide all of it because he never wants to burden anybody else with his problems. He's such a good listener, if you're ever worrying about anything just talk to him and boom he'll make you feel so much better.

Literally everybody in camp asks Will for his advice, even for the most trivial things, it's just feels really good to talk to him, and everybody at camp adores him.

Chiron particularly is very fond of this sunflower boi and like never tells him no, EVER, but mostly because Will never does anything that'll create problems.

He's got a jawline that could cut you in half, he's also got an amazing dimpled smile that could blind you if you're not careful.

Abs. That's it.

Also I remember that there's this scene in The Last Hero in which Piper faints so Annabeth was calling the medic who was playing basketball with the Apollo cabin so I'm assuming that was Will so Will's also a pro at basketball.

Find him with some small flowers in his hair almost always.

The sass.

He's a Texan so like he's so good at riding horses and he also gets along great with the pegasi.

He's a blanket hog, if you're sleeping with him bring an extra blanket or two.

He's the king of pickup lines, so smooooooooth.

He can pick up heavy things, no problem,(for example, idkkkkk his fucking boyfriend) he's like this weighs nothing y'all are just weak.

He's rather touchy with Nico, like gentle and sweet kisses and all that (I've got a post about him randomly kissing Nico's hand which can be found I don't know where) and Nico's like "you're smothering me" and Will's like "good"

You mess with his siblings you're enemy number one be prepare to be destroyed, if you get sick he'll probably let you die or something.

He's got a very strong moral core but he's also very rational and doesn't let his morals hinder his quick-thinking and doesn't waste any of his time in time sensitive issues that's something that comes with him being a medic where every second counts.

He tries to sing, only to make people laugh.

He's a good dancer tho.

Nico basically treats him like his own portable chair, and Will doesn't mind it at all.

He wakes up so fucking early, everybody's like it's still night and he's like "look there is a strip of light along the horizon so it's morning, I'm not early, y'all are just lazy"

He's really good at games like Dobble and Uno.

He loves spicy food.

Whenever he's free and bored he naps beneath a tree or something, he loves being outside.

He loves wearing crop tops and since most of Nico's clothes fit him like crop tops so he does wear Nico's clothes on occasion.

He loves making flower crowns and other flowery stuff and he decorates the Apollo Cabin with them.

Apollo's like really proud of Will, be literally starts sobbing whenever he sees Will (that is kinda canon but like)

He's got a good relationship with his mom, like since he's been at camp for so long and he lives everybody there so much, he doesn't really think of her a lot, but he is a really good son and Naomi loves him a lot.

Cliche but he loves sunflowers he finds them really pretty, and also dark colored roses and snapdragons.

The little kids in camp love him so much and sometimes he and Nico sit with them and tell them stories like myths and their own adventures.

He's so bad at maths like he just sucks.

You cannot differentiate between his handwriting and a dying man's vital stats they're the same thing.

He loves the Italian food that Nico cooks for him.

He will DESTROY the kitchen, do not let him enter if you want your house safe and sound and unburned.

Flannel gay in winters.

He gets really pale during winter, as if someone has leeched all the color from his skin. He's fine but he just doesn't glow like he normally does.

in my world they're found family and LOVE EACH OTHER , thank you very much , so they all are desperately searching for him everywhere they can think, and Jason says "he's nowhere .. " cause Jason is a repressed emo and percys like hm . Well

frank, being Distinctly upset, immediately sees when percy puts the pieces together, demands he explains . so he does , and as upset as everyone is, they decide to try and help stop the end of the world or whatever.

leo has been having a Week on calypso Island . no one's looking for him, the only human company he has hates his fucjking guts , he has no way out . its literally His Personal Hell and he spends it damning every god he can think of cause like . what are they gonna do . put him on an island where he's functionally alone and can never get off and none of his friends even care ?

as is in canon, he and calypso reluctantly bond over lost loves and dead moms or whatever I can't remember .

eventually, he tells her about Frank, and how Frank could never like him like that, let alone love him.

calypso laughs in his face .

"first of all, I bet 100 drachmas he's in love with you too . second of all . so what . I would kill to have friends like that."

this time, when he promises to find a way off the island for her, she says "Good luck with your boy, boy. May the gods be on your side"

when leo shows back up on argo II everyone's like :-D !!!! LEO !!!!!!! and piper has to Hold frank back from tackling leo in excitement . they just hug rly hard :-) (BTW at this point she knows it's requited and if she weren't so thankful leo was back safe she'd pull his ear and call him stupid)

in the final battle , yes I am skipping ahead my hands hurt , Frank gives leo his firewood and says "don't be stupid, leo . people love you . " Which is as good as a confession you're gonna get before you almost certainly die

when leo Does die, frank goes fucking insane .

he doesn't leave his cabin at the roman camp for a week and when he does, he spends all his time at the archery range . he doesn't talk to anyone but Hazel.

he and annabeth have a conversation about losing someone before you can say you love them , but he barely responds cause like . percy came back . Leo won't.

about a month passes like this , and eventually he goes to chb to pray to hades / Pluto whatever who cares, ans be like . treat him well.

leo then shows up out of the sky, on a Dragon, carrying a Random Girl who immediately hugs leo, punches percy on the arm then hugs him too, and frank faints like the KING he is

when he wakes up in the infirmary, leo is at his bedside, still w the random girl, holding a cup of nectar . he hands it to frank and starts rambling nervously, explaining where he was for the past month and apologising

frank just . grabs his hand . says "I told you to not be stupid."

leo then reaches into his belt and pulls out the firewood

they confess and kiss :-)

PERCY literally JUMPED into tartarus for annabeth. that bitch is so ride or die- if annabeth told him to kill everyone in that room, barring his friends, he would, no fucking questions. homie was ready to run after annabeth ACROSS THE COUNTRY on a quest he didn’t EVEN HAVE TO BE ON,,, and that was BEFORE he knew he was in love with her. bitch lost his memory and ALL he could remember from his life was her, all he could think about in new rome was having a LIFE with her. bitch had so many people flirt with him and just a SHIT ton of people that definitely flirted with him and he did not bat an eye. percy really just said hey i know the worst parts of you and that’s okay. i know your fatal flaw and i have seen you mad and sad and terrified and i don’t care. percy does not care. he DOES not care what happens to the world. when he FINALLY got her back in moa he just knew that as long as she was okay nothing else mattered. annabeth NEVER had stabilty and was always so terrified of people leaving her, all the time, because of her past and percy is the first major player in her life that would never, at least not willing. athena left. her dad didn’t look for her when she ran away, never really cared. luke betrayed her, her half-siblings never liked her and her step-mom always hated her. but percy would tear the world apart for her, and that meAns something. oh and NOT to mention that percy is just a stupid bitch and we all love a himbo.

general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life — i? adore percy honestly, he’s such an incredible character. i wouldn’t say he’s like… comfort character level, which is why he’s not got the top “mark” ig or whatever idk, but he’s incredible and i have a lot of love for him

needs to stay away from: trouble — listen i am so glad that he and annabeth were a main part of heroes of olympus bc them and leo are honestly the only reason why i can get through that series, don’t get me wrong i love all of the other characters i just physically can’t read a book if i’m not Excited abt reading my comfort characters pov u know. anyway. i’m glad he was in hoo however,, i’m also v glad there wasn’t? a big role for him in trials of apollo or anything. he deserves a break and to like,, settle down in a flat w annabeth and get a cat or smth. chill out a bit. go to therapy and work through the trauma of,, two wars and falling into literal hell maybe. so yes. that

misc. thoughts: well written — i can list a lot of books where the protagonist isn’t my favourite character, or isn’t a character that i connect to a lot or particularly care abt, and percy definitely isn’t one of them. i feel like,,, he’s realistic and human in a way that makes him so special. his inner monologue is so funny and,, tbh i struggle a lot reading books in first person? but?? the first five pjo books r so so so easy to read bc he’s hilarious and. yes. my point is that rick did such a good job w him right up until he called him tragically straight bc percy jackson is bisexual and no one can argue w me abt that??? don’t bother?? he is ok

Alright I know its been all but 20 mins since my girls post but let's talk about the boys in pjo/hoo . I think I'll list all of them in bullet points, rate them 1-10 and then explain why because I have a BONE to pick with some of these guys. Okay? Okay let's get started

-Percy: 5/10... I know you are all probobly thinking "wait PERCY he's the main character" but he lost his relatability a long while ago. In the beginning of his story he is a dorky little troubled 12 year old who dosent seem to extraordinary, sure then he finds out he's half God which literally nobody can relate too...but then we found out that his FATAL FLAW which is meant to be his weakness...isn't a flaw at all. It's loyalty which is not a flaw its good characteristic with a bad side just like EVERY other traits. Then he became OP and can controll every humana blood on earth and like every liquid ever and kill gods and like I can't put myself in that place anymore (and btw that's that's a good main character does. The author allows the reader to imagine themselves as that character) so yes that's all for percy

-Grover: 10/10...ABSOLUTELY AMAZING CHARCTER AND I HATE HOW THE FANDOM TREATS HIM. Like is he not percys OG ride or die. He's the most loyal to percy, the best friend to percy, the nicest to everybody in general, and he is a great protector. EVERYONE STAN GROVER RIGHT NOW!!!

-Nico: 8/10... one of the only things I dislike about Nico is how he was forced out of the closet in a demeaning way. Even though he is the first queer character in the series (I believe if I'm wrong correct me). But it would have been so much better if he was helped out of the closet by will (and also if Wills character was developed and not just thrown in there) and came out because he realized he is proud to be his most authentic self. But other than that pretty good character.

-Jason: 7/10...Honestly i don't really have much to say about Jason. He dosent do much in the series but he dosent seem like an awful person or someone I would hate to be around I think I would honestly be his friend if he needed one. But yea that's all I have to say about him.

-Leo: 0/10...I HATE LEO WITH EVERY FIBRE OF MY BEING! He's pretty sexist if you ask me. He seems to sexualize every woman he comes across and only sees her as a thing to "love". I also don't like the way he is always worshipped by the fandom....like for literally WHAT. Yea I guess he built the Argo 2 but is nobody seeing the bigger problem here! Might go on a full Leo rant at some point but ill leave this here.

-Frank: 6/10... He is much like Jason in the fact that I don't have much to say about him. He seems like a good enough guy and someone easy to be around. The only reason I deducted a point is because of a comment he made in one of the books about being lactose intolerant. He said that he would rather be Neurodivergent than not be able to drink milk. I don't know I think it's kind of sucky to rather be oppressed (well he is oppressed on the basis of him being Asian but im talking about disability) then not be able to have like...cheese. but yea overall a good 6/10

-Luke: -8289239/10...I DONT CARE WHAT YOU ALL SAY HE. IS. NOT. A HERO!!!! HES AN EVIL VILLAN, PEDOPHILE WHOS ONLY GOAL WAS TO HURT NOT HELP....HE DESERVES TARTUTUS NOT ELYSIUM! thank you for coming to my ted talk 😌

But yea anyways there is my opinion on the boys if the hoo/pjo series. I'm so sorry to the people that follow me for six the musical content I owe you some of that and I promise no more pjo stuff until I get a good amount of six stuff out (but when I do start doing pjo again I'm going OFF on annabeth) but goodbye my lovelies for now ❤

Chapter 2

Did I only have 800 words of this until like two hours ago? Yes. Is it after 2 am? Yes. Could I have done school work instead of this? Yes. Should I be posting this now and not wait until morning when I can proofread religiously? Probably not but it’s here anyway. Is this unedited? Mostly. Do I have a beta? Never. We die like men here. Is this chapter good? Idk. Is it? 

They were all riding on a high as they drove back to the rink.

Nico couldn’t tell who it was, but someone was definitely screeching. Hazel had an arm slung across his shoulder, she wasn’t exclaiming her excitement, which he appreciated, but every time someone mentioned their win she squeezed his shoulder. Which was a lot. 

“We should facetime Annabeth,” Piper McLean called loudly in order to be heard over the excited screaming.

“Yes.” Hazel nodded, “But I feel like we should wait-” She winced when someone accidentally elbowed her in the ribs, “Until we get back and out of this van.”

Nico nodded his agreement, curling back from everyone as best he could. It wasn’t that he didn’t share their enthusiasm but they were too loud about it. Way too loud.

Hazel angled herself in front of Nico when the clamor picked up a new wave. It didn’t do much to shield him but the sentiment was appreciated. 

The van rolled to a stop in front of the rink and they all pushed their way out. He saw Piper wave to the driver before racing inside.

“Let’s put all our stuff in the locker rooms then meet in the lobby and call Annabeth before we call it a night.” Hazel flashed him a smile as they separated.

“Annabeth!” Hazel exclaimed when the other girl finally picked up. Annabeth honestly looked like she’d been through some shit these past few days. She set her phone down as she wrestled her hair into a ponytail so all that they could see was the white ceiling and the occasional flash of Annabeth’s elbow.

Annabeth picked her phone back up and smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “How’d you guys do?”

“We won!” Came a chorus of shrieks.

Annabeth laughed, “That’s amazing. I’m not surprised either, you had Nico.” She winked at him and Nico allowed himself a small smile.

Thankfully, the attention was directed away from Nico when Piper spoke up, “Annabeth, you don’t look so hot. Is everything okay?”

Annabeth grimaced, “A little better.” When it was clear she wasn’t going to elaborate the conversation went back to their win.

“Nico was amazing out there, you should have seen him,” Calypso said and the others voiced their agreement.

Nico hung his head to hide his flushed face. 

He heard Annabeth laugh, but it wasn’t mocking. “I’m sure he was.”

When Calypso yawned, despite her best efforts at hiding it, it spread around the group quickly.

Annabeth laughed, "You guys should all go to bed. I'll talk to you later. And congratulations on an amazing job, I'm so proud of you."

They said their goodbyes, some waves, some blown kisses, and some mimed hugs.

Nico stood up and side-hugged Hazel, waving goodbyes to the others, and left the rink. He almost sighed at the comforting sight of his motorcycle. It had been a long day, and he just wanted to relax.

Nico got home and automatically knew something was different, as he took off his winter coat and hung it up he scanned the hallway and what little he could see of the living room. “Dad?” He called, “Persephone?” He didn’t expect them to respond, it was late and they both worked in the morning.

Someone was in the kitchen, though, and he walked lightly. When he finally saw her he sighed with a light laugh. “Hey, Reyna. How did you even get in here?”

She turned from her rummaging in the cabinets to grin at him, “Don’t worry about it.”

Nico jumped up to sit on the counter, “Oh I already know how. ‘Sephone and Dad love you.”

Reyna laughed, “That they do.”

She went back to her scavenging and he was about to ask if she was looking for anything in particular when she spoke, “We didn’t get to talk after the performance but you killed it out there.”

Nico looked at her and let himself smile a little and even though she wasn’t looking at him she smiled. “Yeah?” He asked, turning so he couldn’t see her face and if she looked over she couldn’t see his.

“Of course you were! Nobody expected any less, except maybe you.” A hint of sadness in her voice that Nico had no idea what to do with so he ignored it.

“We called Annabeth once we got back to the rink, that’s why I’m later than I normally would be.”

Reyna hummed, finding a box of cereal and holding it triumphantly in the air.

“Cereal? Why.”

She stuck her middle finger in his direction at his tone as she tore the box open.

She gestured and he got the memo, sliding off the counter and walking with her to his room.

“How is Annabeth anyway?” She sat down on his bed, sticking her hand in the box of cinnamon toast crunch. 

He sat down next to her, taking his shoes off and tossing them in the vague direction of his closet.

“She’s doing okay, I think. You know, considering.”

Reyna nodded thoughtfully, “Did she say anything about how they’re doing? How Percy’s doing?”

Nico shook his head, “Not explicitly. It didn’t look like she’d been crying though so that could mean everybody’s okay. All she said was ‘A little better’ so,” He trailed off, watching amused and Reyna ate dry cereal with a serious expression on her face.

“Don’t judge me, Di Angelo.”

“I’m definitely judging you.”

She shook her head ruefully, “I know you are.”

“So, talking to anybody I need to know about?” She said suddenly.

Nico snorted, “Nope. You?”

She sighed, “Me either.” She slid along the bed until she was laying flat on her back, spilling some of the cereal in the process. “I never have luck with love.”

“Well,” Nico said, taking the box of cereal from her before she could make a bigger mess. “Let’s make a pact. If we’re both single by the time we’re 30 we’ll get married.”

Reyna tried to snatch the box back from him but he held it away from her, “Promise me.”

She sighed, “27?”

“Sure.”

“Great. I can’t wait to marry you.” Her laugh was full of exaggerated pain. “Now give me back my cereal. I’ll kill you.”

“Why do I feel like you're on something or drunk and are just hiding it from me.”

She narrowed her eyes and kept her hand out until he returned the cereal. She smiled like a child and was about to stick her hand back in when her phone started ringing.

She dug it out of her pocket with murder-eyes and murmured a curse before answering, “Hey, Hylla.”

Nico raised his eyebrows in slight concern. Reyna looked like a scolded puppy.

“Yes, Hyl. I know it’s late. Yes. No, I’m running away with the wolves.” She ended drily. “I’ll head home, I promise. No, I’m not lying. I’ll leave soon.”

She looked at Nico once the call ended and wailed dramatically.

“You are drunk aren’t you. You’re not acting like yourself at all.”

“Maybe a little,” She whispered. “I just felt lonely for some reason.”

Nico pursed his lips, “Yeah. I get that. And I’ll drive you home, I’m not letting you drive.”

She smiled and opened her mouth but Nico cut her off, “Yes, you can keep the cereal.”

The next morning Nico came downstairs to breakfast waiting for him. His Dad and step-mother knew that the forced family dynamic where they ate together made him uncomfortable, he’d never had that and it didn’t fit who they were anyway.

But there was a plate of breakfast for him. 

Persephone was sitting on the couch, hands curled around a mug, eyes closed as she soaked in the sunlight in a fashion that was very similar to her plants.

She opened her eyes when he came downstairs and smiled warmly, “The food’s for you. You can take it upstairs if you’d like.”

He nodded thanks and was halfway up the stairs again when she spoke, “You did amazing last night. Really. It was breath-taking.” She was looking at him.

“Thank you,” He turned away, voice hoarse.

When he looked back her eyes were closed again.

Nico was sitting at his desk, picking at his half-eaten plate and half-heartedly doing the work he should be paying a lot of attention to when his phone buzzed.

Will Solace: Hey, I know you don’t really know me but I go to the same rink you do. I saw your performance last night, it was the most amazing thing I’d ever seen.

Immediately Nico clicked on his profile and stifled an actual gasp. It was the cute hockey player who indeed played at the rink. The same hockey player who’d found Nico having a panic attack outside and talked him through it. The same hockey player whose eyes Nico could feel on him when he was skating. The same hockey player that when given the opportunity, Nico couldn’t stop staring at. And he had reached out to Nico, admittedly just to compliment him, but he hadn’t even brought up what had happened outside.

Nico Di Angelo: Thank you. I appreciate it.

Will Solace: Of course, you deserve it.

Nico didn’t know how to respond to that but his thumbs hovered over the small keyboard anyway. He was saved (or damned, depending on how you look at it) when Will messaged again.

Will Solace: I know we’re not supposed to be friends, but do you think we could be? You seem really cool.

Nico froze in the spot and it seemed like he forgot how to breathe. His thumbs hovered again before he exited the chat.

He spun around in his chair, “Pick up.” He whisper-begged, “Pick up please.”

“Hey, Nico! What’s up?”

“Hazel.” He gasped in relief, “Help me.”

“With what?” She asked, her voice going very low.

“I- um. Can you come over? I need you and Reyna.”

“Of course.” She said immediately. “Are you in any imminent danger?”

“What? No.”

“Oh, thank god. I was really worried. I’m coming as soon as possible,” She paused, “I’ll be over in like 15 minutes.”

That was basically how the conversation with Reyna went too, and soon Nico was left in the silence of his room, twiddling his thumbs and waiting for his basically-sisters to help him with his. Guy problem? No. This dude literally said the word friend. Why was this such an issue? He tried to logic this with himself but it didn’t work, he couldn’t respond on his own.

“Nico!” Persephone’s voice carried. “Reyna and Hazel are here!”

“Thanks!” He called back. He was never sure what to call her. Mom didn’t work, that was reserved for his birth-mother, who’d died a long time ago, but calling her Persephone didn’t feel right either, she was too much of his mother for that. Why was he even thinking about this?”

When Hazel and Reyna came into his room, they both looked like they’d fought hell to do it.

“Did you run here or something?” Nico asked. 

“Pretty much,” Reyna said, sitting at the edge of his bed. 

Hazel nodded her agreement and sat on the opposite edge of his bed. “We were worried.”

Looking at them both, he could tell they definitely had been. They’d dropped everything to come help him, and he hadn’t even explained what it was he needed help with. That thing curled around his heart and squeezed.

“It’s okay. Seriously. It’s just,” He trailed off, deciding to just show them. He handed his phone to Hazel first.

Her eyes lit up and she was laughing as she handed the phone to Reyna. “Nico, do you like this guy.”

Nico felt himself go red, “No! I just, I- '' He was so flustered and the way Reyna was looking at him and clucking her tongue like a (somehow) simultaneously proud and disappointed mother hen was not helping.

“This is adorable,” Hazel said finally.

Nico groaned and buried his head in his hands

Reyna nodded her agreement, “Nico, babe.” She and Hazel looked at each other, silently communicating. “This Will guy isn’t even asked you to fuck him or anything,” Hazel went light pink, but it was nothing compared to the flush on Nico’s skin. “He’s asking to be friends, talk to you a little more.”

“I can’t.” Nico said, “He’s a hockey player.”

Reyna shook her head sadly, “I hate that rule.”

“But it’s a rule,” Hazel mumbled.

“When have you not broken rules?” Reyna asked with a pointed stare.

“I can’t handle the ‘scandal’ that would be. The consequences. And besides,” His voice dropped about 8 octaves, “I’m not even out to some of the team yet.”

“Yeah, that makes sense. So,” She handed his phone to him, “You don’t have to block him yet or anything but you just don’t respond.”

Hazel nodded her agreement, and then Nico did too.

Reyna clapped her hands, “Great. Now,” She slid back so she was sitting up against the wall, “We’re all here so let’s just talk about random bull.”

“I like that plan.” Hazel spread herself out on the bed until she was comfortable.

Nico stood up from his desk chair and wormed his way between them. “Me too.”

It was two in the morning. Prime time for bad decisions.

Hazel and Reyna had left a while ago, but once they left, he’d finally focused on the work he should be doing, pushing Will and everything out of his mind.

He’d resolved it in his mind, he just wasn’t going to message him back. That was it. The chances of seeing him again, especially without anybody else, were very, very slim. So. It was fine, no worries.

Until the clock hit two AM. Nico was sitting in the dark of his bedroom, staring at his phone. What was he doing? This was such a mistake.

Nico Di Angelo: You seem okay. So, yeah. We can be friends. But, nobody can know. We're not supposed to be able to stand each other.

For some, god-forsaken reason, Will responded only fifteen minutes later.

Will Solace: Thank you? Of course. :)

Nico cursed himself silently. What was he doing? He could get in so much trouble for this. In many different senses of that phrase.

When Will friended him on Snapchat and then sent him an insufferably adorable selfie Nico couldn't bring himself together.

This was a mistake, but this boy had helped him, had thought that his skills in the rink were amazing, and Nico couldn't stop texting him all night.

Percy Earned his leadership

Okay, the thing is I get almost personally offended when the fandom tries to write off Percy’s leadership because that boy earned the right to be CHB’s leader.

First off, the way that RR wrote the first five books was in a way where when you combine them together, you can track one cohesive story the same way you’d do with a single story.

TLT is Act 1. It establishes the setting, the characters, and the story. While there aren’t a lot of leadership moments for Percy, because it’s the first act Percy has a lot of moments where you can see his various skills that will lead him to becoming a good leader coming through. This includes his ability to think on his feet (how he dealt with the love ride), manipulate (Crusty), and make the necessary calls needed for the good of the world (sacrificing Sally to return to the surface and stop the war).

There isn’t a lot that happens in this book that happens that changes Percy’s internally and turns him into more of a leader. Aside from the decision to leave his mom behind, every moment of ‘leadership’ that he has are small, baby step versions of leadership. This book is mainly just getting Percy accustomed to being in the situations where a leader is needed while not necessarily pushing him into a leadership position (while Percy was technically the leader of the quest he relied heavily on Grover, Annabeth, and Chiron since he was so new to the world).

SoM is Act 2. Since we know who Percy is and we don’t need to be coaxed into loving him like the first book, this book is the one where Percy probably receives the most help. This is also the ‘training montage’ portion of the story and likely the reason that the Sea of Monsters was chosen as the setting.

There are a few moments in the book where Percy takes the necessary steps to become a leader but most notably are.

Making the decision to send Clarisse on ahead.

Stepping up and confronting Luke on behalf of all four of them.

The beginning of the book where the campers poorly treat him and Tyson is also important for two reasons. The first being that Percy sticking by Tyson despite the poor treatment shows what a good person he is, even though we know he’s resentful of the situation and Tyson. The second is that part of the reason Percy is so resentful is because the last time he was at camp he was Hot Shit. Everyone thought he was the bees knees because he had completed a quest and prevented a war. By having Percy be ostracized for his association with a “monster” Rick not only prevented Percy from developing an ego but it also teaches him something all leaders need to know - which is that public opinion is extremely fickle. 

This is also the book where we first hear that Percy is an ‘unreliable weapon’. Kronos specifically does not want Percy to be the prophecy child because he knows that Percy is difficult to predict, manipulate, and control. The gods themselves would be way less scared about how powerful Percy is if he was easier to control. By Percy being difficult to manipulate, that means he’s not going to wind up pulling all the people he’s leading in the wrong direction because someone else is pulling his strings. 

TTC is Act 3 and the mid-story low-point. This is the book where Percy fucks up the most.

He lets his jealousy of Thalia cloud his judgement, which directly leads to Annabeth getting captured.

He again lets his jealousy and pride cloud his judgement which causes the campers to lose to the Hunters.

A tiny moment but he’s so upset over Annabeth possibly becoming a hunter that he nearly kills an Ares camper with a javelin.

He’s so pissed at Mr. D he almost lets his anger prevent them from getting help, which would have led to all of them dying.

All of Percy’s fuck ups teach him that he needs to not let his emotions cloud his judgement and clearly see in BotL and TLO that Percy has learned his lesson. Even when his parents are in danger or he has his own personal drama with Annabeth and Rachel, he’s able to focus on the task at hand.

(The one time that Percy lets his emotions take control is when he takes off in the Labyrinth alone because he thinks Nico is nearby and he’s extremely worried about Nico because he cares a lot about him despite what Rick and his ghost writers say).

They also serve as a humbling experience to keep his ego in check, because at the beginning of the book we’re told that Percy had become accustomed to campers looking to him and up to him after having completed two dangerous quests. His issue with Thalia is that he feels she gets all the attention because Zeus is her father (whether that’s a justified feeling or not). This shows us that not only does Percy have some sort of expectation of leadership but also that as someone who spent his whole life either in the corner or in bad light, he has enjoyed being in the spotlight even if only a little bit, and now he’s missing it. 

This is also the book where Percy accepts the prophecy and basically puts himself in a leadership position for the sake of protecting Nico. However, for me, this isn’t the most meaningful leadership moment.

Percy’s big leadership moment in this book for me is when he takes the sky from Artemis and this is the big moment for many reasons.

For one, it shows that he has learned from his past mistakes of wanting to be the one to turn to. He acknowledges he’s not going to defeat Atlas and takes himself out of the fight so Artemis can fight instead. This is a great juxtaposition to the beginning of the story when he wanted to be on the front lines during capture the flag and have Thalia instead guard the flag (even though Thalia was right about the river).

For two, it shows his ability to make sacrifices because he knows very well that he can die.

And for three, it is his idea, his decision, and he has to convince Artemis it’s also a good idea.

BotL is Act IV, the rising action. The stakes are higher, the situation is more dangerous than ever, and our protagonist is digging himself out from under his mistakes of the previous act.

This is the book that while Percy has learned most of what he needs to in order to become a leader and has even chosen a leadership role, he’s not the one in charge. Annabeth is.

This book is literally Percy being Annabeth’s second-in-command because before you can lead, you need to learn how to follow. This is important to happen here because in the previous three books Percy either didn’t want to be a leader and/or he was fucking it up and had a lot to learn.

This is the book that shows us two things: 1) Percy's ability to sacrifice his personal wants and desires for the greater good and 2) why he is the best option to lead.

He does #1 first at Mt. St. Helens when he sends Annabeth away, because in the situation she’s the one that needs to get back for the greater good. Then the second time was when he sacrificed a peaceful eternity with Calypso for the greater good (not Annabeth, which the fandom, Rick, and his ghost writers seem to have forgotten).

Everyone is going to hate me for what I’m about to say next but bear with me. The BotL is showing us why Annabeth, the daughter of war and battle strategy, is not going to be the leader of their army in the series climax. To be clear, Annabeth is not a bad leader, in fact she is a good one, my point for the next bit here is why she’s not the best option. Throughout the book we see Annabeth repeatedly making the same mistakes that Percy made in the previous book; she lets her emotions get the better of her and cloud her judgement. 

The Sphynx moment is her letting her pride overtake her better judgement and she puts everyone at risk by refusing to answer the questions over an insult to her intelligence.

Absolutely everything with Rachel is an issue. From the first moment Annabeth sees Rachel and Percy together she is jealous and she treats Rachel terribly. First off, this is poor behaviour in general (and it should have been addressed in series and apologized for) but as a leader it’s poor for a few reasons.

Firstly, that as a leader she needs to know how to put her emotions aside in order to work with everyone, regardless of her personal feelings towards them. By not being able to be at least polite to Rachel, she risked Rachel saying fuck this, I’m out (probably the only reason Rachel didn’t is because she’s chill and she knew it was a world ending problem they were dealing with).

Secondly, it shows a certain amount of immaturity. The thing with jealousy is that although it’s not a reasonable emotion, how you handle it shows how mature you are. The fact that when Annabeth becomes petty and vindictive when she’s jealous shows a lot of emotional immaturity. 

Thirdly, she doesn’t fucking learn anything as we see her behaving the same way towards Rachel in TLO, made worse by the fact that she’s also attacking Percy. This isn’t entirely her fault because these actions don’t have any consequences that make her want to change her behaviour. Leaders need to be able to learn and adapt and check their own behaviour.

(honestly, the fact that Annabeth ended the series without at least trying to get over her pride and abandonment issues makes me feel like her character arc is incomplete).

TLO is Act V and the grand finale. It’s the book where Percy is 100% the Boss. It is the culmination of everything that he’s learned and shows off all the things he has that makes him a good leader.

Leaders need to know when to make sacrifices, evident by when he leaves Beckendorf and when he takes a million-to-one chance by dipping in the Styx in order to gain a chance at winning this war.

He’s cunning and manipulative, shown when he bribes the river gods into playing for his team.

He’s incredibly good at battle strategy, shown when he manages to make a plan that allows 70ish campers/hunters to defend the entire island of Manhattan from hundreds, if not thousands of soldiers from Kronos’s army.

He’s well spoken, shown when he’s able to get the campers pumped before the first battle.

He cares about the people that he’s leading. In the previous book he didn’t know Castor’s name before he died and he felt bad about that, so in this book every time he mentions a demigod it’s by name.

He’s clever, shown when he’s able to figure out literally on the fly how to kill the pig and that the hero that dies in the prophecy is Luke. He also figures out that Typhon won’t be defeated without Poseidon and knows what to say in order to get Poseidon to abandon the ocean battle and help the rest of the gods.

(Lowkey-highkey Percy is the reason that Typhon was defeated at all, because without him Poseidon would have never joined the fight and the gods would have failed, which would have meant that regardless of Kronos dying they would have been fucked)

He’s able to focus on the task at hand despite his emotional problems. This includes the times that his parents are put in the line of fire, both when they’re asleep and awake and when the Annabeth/Rachel drama is making him all kinds of angry and upset. In all those situations he’s able to carry on and largely ignore them in order to focus on the war.

To me, his deference to Chiron before the war officially begins is Percy a) being so used to following Chiron in everything and respecting the centaur as a leader and b) not entirely confident in himself and needing that confirmation that he’s in charge. While it’s never stated in the books that Percy enjoys being a leader, we never really see Percy lamenting that he wishes someone else was in charge even when he was neck deep in danger and death and stress.

No one ever questions the fact that Percy’s in charge. There isn’t ever a power struggle. Even with Thalia and Annabeth - both of whom have their own merits to make them leaders and the ambition/pride to make them chafe under the leadership of someone else. Everyone easily accepts and looks to Percy to be their leader.

I’m sorry if this comes off as rant-y and I’m likely going to piss a bunch of people off with my opinion on Annabeth’s faults, but Percy literally went through so much shit and learned and changed in order to be a good leader that it honestly makes me angry when people write him off for the sake of uplifting someone else.

- okay so like way before the musical was even a thing, there was a video of this song being sung by three people who aren’t in the show, but god it was heartrenching. It’s a little different from the finished product but like Pick a Side, I’m so glad they included this song because it’s so powerful

- this song is so great because as a whole, the musical is kinda upbeat and generally happy except for like Tree on the Hill and kinda Good Kid, but this one shows the main three’s insecurities about the whole adventure. It throws your mind in a whole different direction

- They’re kids. They’re lost and scared and don’t really know what they’re doing, yet they keep pressing on because of each other. They feel like they will fail, but they can all look each other in the eye and say “you know what? at least we have each other and that’s worth it enough for me”

- that small part in the beginning with Percy and Annabeth singing together makes me want a Percabeth duet so bad

Okay so we all know who your top ships are... who are your unpopular ships? Or obscure ships? What characters from what series do you think about often in either good or bad ways? Who is a character that you hate that others love? If you could rewrite a story or part of a book, what would it be and what would you do differently?

Thinking about Veronica Mars. About Veronica/Logan. Do they have a ship name?? But I love that show and i was THERE for them. They were kind of a surprise ship for me, in that when they got together I was like, wait, WHAT? Like I was totally caught off guard. But there first kiss is, like, sooo romantic to me haha. It’s my fave scene in the show. But Logan is suck a prick sometimes. And they break up like every five minutes. And every season Logan gets accused of murder which of course he ends up not being the murderer. And they get back together eventually and I’m like really? But deep down I am rooting for them lol. I really enjoyed the new season of Veronica Mars that came out last year, actually. The ending made me SO SAD THO.

I also used to watch Supergirl and I thought Kara and Mon-El were adorable. He was very Carswell Thorne-esque, RH, I *think* you would like him. I never watched past season 3(?) though, and he shoots off into space and I never caught up so a few months ago I actually googled what happens and [spoiler] he ends up marrying someone else in the future or something so I was like, ok I’m not investing any more time in this show lol. (Also I had to google Mon-El’s name just now bc i forgot which is a bad look BUT I WAS REALLY RIDE OR DIE FOR THEM FOR A WHILE lol). Also I loved Martian Manhunter in this show, he was my favorite character. But the CGI for him was awful, omg. He had practical makeup at first, they should have just stuck with that.

Speaking of Martian Manhunter, I also used to watch Young Justice and loved Miss Martian/Superboy. Am I basic??? lol oop. But I love basic love stories. Anyway, I thought they were super cute. In season 3 though they’re kind of on the rocks. I haven’t watched season 4. I also loved Artemis/Wally West, but of course that had to end tragically.

Also, let’s talk about Nightcrawler. Allow me to set the scene. Little Kat is 13 and just rediscovered the cartoon she saw a few times as a kid called X-Men: Evolution. And thus, a weird obsession with the German, blue demon boy began. I loved Kurt Wagner. In the cartoon he starts a relationship with Amanda Sefton and I thought they were a-dor-a-ble. She accepted him for who he was, and they had a really nice healthy relationship. A lot of ppl shipped him with Kitty too which i am honestly all for idec I JUST WANT THE BLUE BOI TO BE HAPPY.

Can we talk about A:TLA too??? Like, obviously Zutara, amiright? Power couple. Like, Kataang is.. fine, but its probably my least favorite part about the ending, haha. Also, consider: Tokka. Toph is bae and can get anyone she wants, and she clearly had kind of a crush on Sokka and I think they could have been awesome. It actually kills me that they never say who Lin and Suyin’s father is in LoK. I had a whole theory that it was that kid The Duke from Jet’s band based on like 2 scenes from the series. There’s a tumblr post I made about it somewhere in the ether lol.

I also just remembered Tahnorra (Tahno/Korra) from Legend of Korra. It’s hard for me to explain this one. It’s a weird combination of being hyperfixated on the first season of the show when it came out, and I think I stumbled upon some fic or something???? And I thought Tahno was hot or something??? And FUN FACT, he was voice by Rami Malek BEFORE HE WAS COOL. So like before Rami really got big I knew who he was. He also basically played the Avatar in Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 and I thought that connection was hilarious. It was kind of a problematic crack pairing but there was one author in particular whom i follow to this day hoping she’ll update her Tahnorra fics…. *sigh*

Okay one last ship…. I used to be ride or die for Outlaw Queen in Once Upon a Time (aka Regina/Robin Hood). Like, before TLC, I had a personal tumblr renaissance for that ship alone. My only existing published fanfic is for that ship. Taylor Swift’s 1989 came out that year and I related every dang song to that ship. I loved Regina so much and I just wanted her to be happy. That show is a dumpster fire, though, and spat all over my hopes and dreams. *sigh*

OK, to answer some of your other questions: character I hate that others love. HMMMM…….

This one seems too easy/obvious but Professor Snape? Like obviously there’s already a ton of discourse surrounding this but he was gross, mistreated his students for years, committed atrocities, couldn’t get over his high school crush, and we’re supposed to believe he’s a hero in the end and HARRY WOULD NAME HIS SON AFTER HIM….. uh no. “Always” is gross.

I’ve literally been wracking my brain for days and I can’t think of any more characters for this. OK I did some googling and I remembered some LOL.

Ross from friends…. I literally can’t stand him. He’s so entitled and just the worst. He tries to act like he’s the nice, sensitive guy, but really he is so full of himself. Joey on the other hand is portrayed as a womanizer but is actually super sweet and I love him

Archie from Riverdale… I have only seen the first 1.5 seasons ish but he is the worst…. we’re supposed to believe he’s some easygoing musically gifted football player but instead he manages to pull off being bland as heck and actually kind of a terrible garbage person

Nick from chilling adventures of Sabrina. I hate characters that are like hitting on the main character even though she has a bf and are like dark and broody and sexy blah blah blah…. I liked Harvey way better. I never finished season 2 tho

HM. First, Harry would name his son Remus Rebeus Potter LOL. Ok but real talk there was a headcanon floating around forever ago that Harry should have become a professor at Hogwarts instead of an auror and I am 100% on board

Ok, ok….. what abouuuttt…… OK, is star wars when Han and Leia get together. I like them as a couple, but the entire first half of the movie Han is being such an ass. And when they kiss the first time, he’s being SOOO creepy. It’s like so quintessentially 80s romance. and HERE’S THE THING. They actually filmed (or maybe just wrote?) a version of that scene that WASNT CREEPY. And i’m like WHY DIDNT YOU USE THAT?!? So I like to pretend that’s the version that actually happened.

TYRANT’S TOMB SPOILER ALERT

ok I tried my best to warn anyone that does not want any spoiler on the book so read at your own risk..... I just finished the book and I literally NEED to share my thoughts so here goes:

first of all, what the fuck.  I tend not to shit too much on author’s work in general unless it’s ultimate bs, because I know how much efforts it takes to create. Don’t get me wrong though, I liked the book. I wouldn’t say I loved it, but it’s not terrible you know.

I kind of get why Reyna felt the need to be free and remove the weight of being praetor off her shoulders. I do think that yes Camp Jupiter is lowkey doomed without her leadership, they won’t be as great like no offense to Frank and Hazel. They’re otp but they don’t command as much authority as Reyna would. She’s been through so much and she’s been praetor for so long. She is powerful AND knowledgeable. Frank and Hazel were legit newbies until HOO and they have a lot to learn. Even Percy, it took him 5 years to learn to be more mature and experienced. 

I just don’t get the whole “no mortal or demigod shall ever heal your heart” thing like WHAT EVEN IS THE CURSE. I’m hella confused. WHY is this happening to her in the first place? Anyways, hope Reyna finds who she wants to be and some relief in life. 

What I really didn’t like was that Rick didn’t give that much of a role to Reyna in all of this? As the daughter of Bellona, we never really got to see her in true action. Like is it me or did we never see her truly in action or in a single combat. Like yes she did fight off a few ravens and stuff, but where was that one-on-one epic combat that all heroes get? She’s literally the daughter of the war goddess and all we saw in her powers was sharing strength like ouuuhh big deal. seen that already. She was part of the prophecy to “open the door to the soundless god” and it made it sound epic but all she did was amplify Apollo’s power. 

I honestly think we should have seen her grieve more for Jason. They literally grew up together in a way and she should have been the one to avenge him instead of Zhang. Like yeah, Frank and Jason were friends, quest comrades but even in HOO, they weren’t as close as the other crewmates were to each other respectively. They were certainly not as close as Reyna and Jason were to each other.

Thalia’s mourning was also pretty tragic that it was barely mentioned. Like I get that demigods/heroes die all the time in quests but hey that doesn’t stop any of their comrades to be fucking human and cry. 

Lavinia is literally the most hilarious chick I ever seen. She’s random and impulsive and it’s hilarious that she’s a centurion bc she is so NOT made for that but anyways.

Dakota being dead is also random af like that came out of nowhere. 

The sisterly love from Artemis/Diana was also random? Like I don’t doubt siblings love each other and all, but coming from gods whom the characterization made by Rick made it seem like they clearly don’t give a shit. so how does a thousand years old twin sibling suddenly miss her annoyingly egotistical brother. 

I love the character development in Apollo. Like we can clearly see that he’s trying to be better and that he really understands suffering. I don’t doubt that he changed, but what I’m worried about is will he change back when he becomes a god? When you’re in power, it’s so easy to get lost. Like he said, he had been turned human once and when he became a god, he didn’t change. I don’t know if this time will be different. If he becomes a god, then he is immortal once again. He will never age and those adventures will seem like eons ago while the demigods will remember it as long as they live. It’s so easy to forget you know. I’m curious to see how it will play out in the last book. 

Also random, but who the fuck is taking care of the sun god’s duties if there is no sun god at the moment lol

Theory for the last book:

I don’t know, it’s been a long ride you know for the PJO/HOO/TOA series. I’m not sure if Rick has any plans in continuing another series so if it happens that Tower of Nero is the last book ever, being back in Manhattan, I’m pretty sure it will involved Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson for one last awesome adventure.

clara leigh sloane was born in small town, louisiana to a family that lived and breathed sports. her grandpa coached college football in the sec for years, ending his career with a national championship team that included his son, clara’s father. that was the same year clara’s older brother was born, the spitting image of her father and the sloane family’s pride & joy. it was then that, choosing coaching over a professional career for the sake of his son. five years later, clara came along.

her parents were college sweethearts, and they really thought they wanted the same things. one kid couldn’t save their marriage... two kids didn’t do the trick either, and when clara was five, her mother packed her things and left, never to be heard from again.

they were a happy little trio, though! traveling every now and then for the sake of dad’s job as a high school football coach. he had quite a few national championship titles under his belt at the high school level, all of which clara watched from the sidelines.

she grew up very interested in everything her dad and brother were doing. curious in general, honestly, but this began her love of sports. specifically: football and hockey. football, from her father. hockey, from her brother.

she and her brother were just far enough apart in age to never have to cross each others paths too much, but everyone who knew cameron–– clara’s brother–– knew her as little sloane. she never minded it, just as she never minded drowning in one of his old hockey jerseys from the sidelines and learning to skate with him also on the ice. he was .. her favorite person, honestly. and he didn’t mind his kid sister being around either.

life was relatively smooth sailing. never rich, but never going hungry. never short on love in the sloane household, and never boring with two kids that had crazy colorful personalities. like these two were just.. . . goofballs and they played off of  each other’s energy like it was nothing. comedians of family thanksgiving. choreographed living room routine. idiots, rly

when she was about 13, her dad got into coaching at the college level, taking a small school to a national championship before being hired by the university of michigan to turn their football program around.

he was given two years, and he couldn’t manage it, despite coming close. around the same time cameron got a full ride to dillon for hockey, their father got hired as the defensive coordinator at dillon. thus, the whole family picked up and moved to texas.

when she was a senior in high school, and cameron was a junior in college, cam was involved in a car accident that left him brain dead. after days in the hospital and exhausting resources, clara and her father said their goodbyes and he was gone. u know that scene in if i stay?? where the grandpa is like it’s okay.. you can leave go if you have to?? p much . .. that. clara held his hand until she was dragged away

there’s a bit of a grey cloud that hangs over the sloane family since. his room hasn’t been touched. his car sits under a tarp in a shed behind the house. their father doesn’t talk about it, never did, so clara just kinda navigated that grief alone. she’s... fINE REALLY SHE’S perfectly fine

but incapable of leaving dillon, it seems, as she chose to go there to stay close to her dad and to be close to cameron

she’s always loved the sidelines and has a very stem-wired brain, so she’s going for athletic training to be an athletic trainer... of course akjdhfa in hopes of working for the nfl or the nhl... or maybe med school to be an actual team-hired doctor

like i said!! the epitome of chaotic good. she’s got big sunshine energy and big idiot energy. to give you some references from pop culture: sheryl yoast from remember the titans, harper from set it up, fucking ace from nancy drew, annabeth chase from percy jackson and fuckin honestly?? sophie turner just in general 

very much ‘do no harm but take no shit’

a lot of her friendships are very surface level because she’s got this way about her that’s very optimistic, very fun, very sunshine and that’s kind of what people expect of her, so she doesn’t really let anyone see anything different than that. very few people get close to her, but those people?? she’d do anything for ... .. . lowkey she soft

stubborn! and! competitive! put them together and you have someone who hates not being immediately perfect at something. she gets frustrated with herself very very easily

very opinionated and does not hesitate to stand up for herself or others. this can kinda come off as a bit know it all sometimes, or like she’s incredibly sure of herself. she’s not. in fact, she’s.... not her own biggest fan. her older brother was golden, and losing him made her an only child in some sorts. that pressure to be perfect was now on her, and her strained relationship with her father certainly didn’t help that. nowadays he seems to be more interested in his work and getting to a head coaching spot at another university than anything else.

mild adhd & clear generalized anxiety disorder which does not help with the way she gets frustrated with herself becaaauuusssee...

she is intuitive as hell! she’s good at people! and problem solving! but being book smart comes a bit harder. she doesn’t struggle with school, but it isn’t a cake walk either. she’s needed help before, and she’ll probably need it again
