Since Tumblr is planning on implementing ActivityPub in order to federate with Mastodon, I can’t help but wonder how the 4,000,000 character limit on here will affect the protocol and Mastodon users looking in from the outside.

Oh boy, horses sure like to maim themselves in interesting ways…

Got a call this morning that a 3mo filly was stuck in a fence. Ok… Turns out, she had somehow broken the welds on the bottom of the paneling and stuck both back legs between the bottom of the paneling and the top of the cattle guard, and then proceeded to bash and tear her legs all to heck 🙃

She’s in a ~15acre pasture. All that room… and this is what she does…

Spent 4hrs with the vet cleaning her up and tapping joints. It’s really fun to stick a needle in the front of a fetlock joint and see a legit stream of saline shooting out the other side of her leg! /s

At least her fetlock and her pastern joint are compromised, didn’t get into her hock today though it doesn’t look too bad. She did so much damage that she was on her 5th sedation and we decided to wrap it up there so she could wake up and get some food/water/milk in her. I will say, on one side you could clearly see the artery, vein, and nerve that runs down the fetlock… because she’d ripped all but the nerve in two… but it was very interesting to see.

She comes from a pretty sturdy and hard headed dam line, really hoping she’ll make it out the other side alright 🤞🤞
