Most Crushed on Male Harry Potter Characters: A Study (Version 2)
Because I feel that my original study on the most crushed on male Harry Potter characters was flawed, I decided to do a part 2. This time, I looked at all of the characters listed below on every website, regardless of whether they have 10 works or 10,000 works. On AO3, I also looked at original character pairings because I believe the author is usually attracted to the canon character they’re writing about or they’re writing for an audience that is attracted to the canon character. However, I couldn’t look up OC-prairings for Tumblr and Wattpad and explain why under their individual sections. The websites I looked at were AO3, Tumblr, and Wattpad. These are the results as of December 31, 2023 (I know I’m late to posting this, but it’s because I forgot to add other edits to this post until now)!
Included characters: Draco Malfoy, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Severus Snape, Newt Scamander, Cedric Diggory, Sebastian Sallow, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, James Potter, Tom Riddle/Voldemort, Ominis Gaunt, Neville Longbottom, Lucius Malfoy, Regulus Black, Ron Weasley, Theodore Nott, Oliver Wood, Bill Weasley, Charlie Weasley, Blaise Zabini, Mattheo Riddle, and Lorenzo Berkshire.
Note: I didn’t include Harry Potter (the character) because results for Harry Potter on Wattpad and Tumblr frequently returned results about the Harry Potter fandom as a whole, not Harry Potter himself.
Original study link (August 6, 2023) here!
Tumblr media
*Collage is mine, but all the photos were found on Google
AO3
What I did: The number of works under “(male character)/reader” and “(male character)/you” differed, so the green number is the higher number of works between those 2 tags. The blue number is the number of works in “(male character)/original character(s).” The red number is the added total between the green and blue numbers. The characters will be ranked based on the red number.
Results:
Draco Malfoy: 1,445 + 2,981 = 4,426 works
Severus Snape: 1,128 + 2,769 = 3,897 works
Sirius Black: 952 + 2,236 = 3,188 works
Remus Lupin: 900 + 1,500 = 2,400 works
Sebastian Sallow: 880 + 1,379 = 2,259 works
Fred Weasley: 743 + 1,228 = 1,971 works
Tom Riddle/Voldemort: 361 + 979 = 1,340 works
George Weasley: 684 + 932 = 1,616 works
Ominis Gaunt: 421 + 697 = 1,118 works
Regulus Black: 223 + 878 = 1,101 works
James Potter: 375 + 506 = 881 works
Charlie Weasley: 152 + 548 = 700 works
Cedric Diggory: 232 + 422 = 654 works
Ron Weasley: 212 + 430 = 642 works
Lucius Malfoy: 202 + 384 = 586 works
Neville Longbottom: 190 + 383 = 573 works
Theodore Nott: 95 + 426 = 521 works
Newt Scamander: 336 + 130 = 466 works
Blaise Zabini: 79+ 322 = 401 works
Oliver Wood: 123 + 198 = 321 works
Bill Weasley: 106 + 170 = 276 works
Mattheo Riddle: 59 + 108 = 167 works
Theseus Scamander: 72 + 25 = 97 works
Lorenzo Berkshire: 10 + 13 = 23 works
Potential problems:
I think the AO3 results are the most accurate since for the most part, all reader-insert works are under only 1 name of the character, not something like “Snape/Reader” and then “Severus Snape/Reader.” However, I did notice that there were sometimes works with 2 characters where 1 character had a relationship with the character, while the other character was in a loveless arranged marriage or some sort of non-con relationship that the author didn’t mean to romanticize.
Also, whenever I calculated the the number of works under both “(male character)/Original Female Character(s)” and “(male character)/Original Male Character(s)” it was always less than the the number of works under “(male character)/Original Character(s).” Therefore, I’m not sure if this means I undercounted OC-pairing works.
Tumblr
What I did: I researched “(male character) x reader,” “(male character) x you,” and “(male character) x y/n.” The number of followers under these tags sometimes differed, so I recorded the highest number of followers between the 3 tags. However, I couldn’t count the number of followers for any tag along the lines of (male character)/OC. This is because Tumblr doesn’t provide the number of followers for OC-pairing tags for whatever reason. Also, some characters are tied because Tumblr only shows followers in thousands and hundreds, not the specific number.
Results:
Draco Malfoy: 15k followers
Sirius Black and Remus Lupin: 12k followers
James Potter: 10k followers
Fred Weasley: 9.2k followers
Tom Riddle: 6.6k followers
George Weasley: 6.4k followers
Newt Scamander: 6.2k followers
Regulus Black: 5.7k followers
Theodore Nott: 5.4k followers
Mattheo Riddle: 5.1k followers
Severus Snape: 4.5k followers
Sebastian Sallow: 4.2k followers
Cedric Diggory: 3.9k followers
Ominis Gaunt: 2.7k followers
Ron Weasley: 2.6k followers
Charlie Weasley: 2.2k followers
Neville Longbottom and Oliver Wood: 1.9k followers
Theseus Scamander: 1.8k followers
Bill Weasley: 1.5k followers
Lucius Malfoy and Lorenzo Berkshire: 1.4k followers
Blaise Zabini: 1.3k followers
Potential problems:
Because Tumblr doesn’t have a set tag for reader-insert works, I had to look up characters under multiple names, like “Remus Lupin x Reader” and “Lupin x Reader.”
I’m not entirely sure how Tumblr rounds the number of followers under a tag, but the number of followers can vary drastically for characters that are tied depending on how Tumblr rounds. For example, Sirius may have 12,900 followers and Remus may have 12,009 followers, or Sirius may have 12,499 followers and Remus may have 12,001 followers. Therefore, the lack of an exact number of followers under a tag has the potential to mess up the accuracy of the total final results.
I noticed that not every single result under the tag was actually a reader-insert post. However, I don’t think this is a major issue since I counted the number of followers under a tag who are under the impression that every post with that tag actually adheres to the tag title.
Wattpad
What I did: I searched for “(male character) x reader,” (male character) x you, and (male character) x y/n. The number of results under these searches sometimes differed, so I recorded the highest number of results between the 3 tags. I didn’t search for anything along the lines of (male character) x OC (refer to “potential problems” for my explanation).
Results:
Lorenzo Berkshire: 59.3k results
Draco Malfoy: 48.7k results
Neville Longbottom: 46.2k results
Newt Scamander: 42.9k results
Cedric Diggory: 41.5k results
Ominis Gaunt: 30.3k results
Theodore Nott: 22.2k results
Ron Weasley: 19.7k results
Remus Lupin: 17.3k results
James Potter: 14.9k results
Sirius Black: 14.3k results
Severus Snape: 13k results
Fred Weasley: 11.6k results
Tom Riddle/Voldemort: 11.1k results
George Weasley: 9.2k results
Oliver Wood: 4.8k results
Regulus Black: 3.4k results
Blaise Zabini: 3k results
Lucius Malfoy: 2.5k results
Mattheo Riddle: 1.8k results
Bill Weasley: 1.6k results
Charlie Weasley: 1.4k results
Sebastian Sallow: 400 results
Theseus Scamander: 175 results
Potential problems:
I don’t think these results are very accurate, especially since Lorenzo has only 23 works on AO3 yet somehow has more results here than Draco. Because Tumblr doesn’t have a set tag for reader-insert works, I had to look up characters under multiple names, like Remus Lupin x Reader and Lupin x Reader.
Searches for James, Potter, and Remus frequently returned Marauder fanfiction collections which didn’t separate works for the individual characters.
As I stated above, I didn’t research pairings with OCs since many of the results didn’t even return OC pairings. For example, the very first result for Snape x OFC is literally a fic of James Potter x Snape.
If you compare my results from the original study, some of the characters have fewer results than they originally had. I’m not sure if this is an error on my part, if Wattpad changed how it returns results for searches, or if some fics were deleted.
Wattpad doesn’t provide the exact number of results for each search, so this has the potential to mess up the final total results.
Final Total Results
Draco Malfoy: ≈68,126 admirers
Lorenzo Berkshire: ≈60,723 admirers
Newt Scamander: ≈49,566 admirers
Neville Longbottom: ≈48,673 admirers
Cedric Diggory: ≈46,054 admirers
Ominis Gaunt: ≈34,118 admirers
Remus Lupin: ≈31,700 admirers
Sirius Black: ≈29,488 admirers
Theodore Nott: ≈28,121 admirers
James Potter: ≈25,781 admirers
Ron Weasley: ≈22,942 admirers
Fred Weasley: ≈22,771 admirers
Severus Snape: ≈21,397 admirers
Tom Riddle/Voldemort: ≈19,040 admirers
George Weasley: ≈17,216 admirers
Regulus Black: ≈10,201 admirers
Sebastian Sallow: ≈6,859 admirers
Mattheo Riddle: ≈7,067 admirers
Oliver Wood: ≈7,021 admirers
Blaise Zabini: ≈4,701 admirers
Lucius Malfoy: ≈4,486 admirers
Charlie Weasley: ≈4,300 admirers
Bill Weasley: ≈3,376 admirers
Theseus Scamander: ≈2,072 admirers
Once again, I doubt the accuracy of these results, so take these results with a grain of salt. However, I do think these results are more accurate than my last research study since I tried to be more precise. Also, these results aren’t necessarily indicative of how much a character is crushed on since there are probably plenty of people who don’t write fanfiction, follow tags on their loved character, or interact with fanfiction/the fandom in general. I will do this study on female characters sometime in the future, but I don’t know if I’ll redo this study on male characters. Thanks for reading!

hello everybody! i am back with the census data for the self shipping community
Tumblr media Tumblr media
first off, i want to give everyone who responded a thank you. in a day i have gotten 460 responses, which i think is amazing! secondly, thank you everyone who gave me contact information, i am planning to in the future write a piece on the subculture and community that is self shipping.
a small disclaimer: this census data is only reflective of the community on tumblr, which leans heavily lgbtqia+ and neurodivergent, and may not be reflective of every person that self ships. form was not posted to any social media sites.
now, into the data! :D

Tumblr media
the self shipping community on average is made up of mostly young adults (18-25), taking up 65.6% of people responding. the other two major percents being 25-30, taking up 16.8% of respondents, and under 18 taking 15.8%. only 6 people (1.3%) responded as being 31-35 years old, and only 2 people (0.4%) said they are 36+.
gender identity:

disclaimer: this option was added later into the poll after 200 respondents after being mentioned by @/goldenworldsabound (thank you!)
neurodivergency:
Tumblr media
i think this is very interesting. 81.4% of respondents fall under the neurodivergent umbrella, 16% saying not sure, and 12 people (2.6%) saying they do not.
after looking over the fill in question if you answered yes, the word autism/autistic are used 256 times (73.14%) out of 350 people who responded. adhd is mentioned 190 times (45.71%).
when did you start self shipping?
Tumblr media
a large majority of self shippers have always been self shipping at 38.9%. with early childhood at 20.2%, tween at 17.8%, teen at 17.4%, early adulthood at 4.2%, and adulthood at 1.3%.
one person voted 2020's before i changed the vote from years to age groups.

Tumblr media
with a overwhelming majority (82.8%), people said yes. with 16.1% saying maybe, and only 5 (1.1%) of people saying no.
how many fictional others do you have?
Tumblr media
this is very interesting to me as well, with 28.5% saying over 20, and 27.8% saying 5-10. 10.8% having 11-16, 8.3% having 1, 8.1% having 3, 5.8% having 4, 5.6% having 2, and 5.2% having 16-19.
do you have platonic or familial fictional others?
Tumblr media
a majority have platonic or familial fictional others, at 83.7%. 16.3% saying they do not.
do people in your offline life know you self ship?
Tumblr media
while 49.9% of people say people in their offline life don't know they self ship, interestingly 50.1% say at least some person in their life know they self ship. with 41.1% saying close friends/family, 9% saying people know.
do you personally identify as fictosexual/fictoromantic? (i.e. a person who is sexually or romantically attracted to a fictional character.)
Tumblr media
a majority (76.5%) of people are not fictosexual/fictoromantic in the self ship community, while 23.5% identify as fictosexual/fictoromantic.
for fun, the average person in the self ship community is between 18-24 years old, non-binary, bisexual and biromantic. falls somewhere on the neurodivergent umbrella, likely with autism. has always self shipped. feels self shipping as improved their mood. has 20% fictional others. has platonic or familial fictional others. only self ships online. and does not identify as fictosexual/fictoromantic.

Bradley looked down at that piece of paper for a few minutes now, sitting in his office while sipping some coffee. It started raining early today, and the base was very…quiet. It wasn’t out of the ordinary, but it was still unusual.
He took another sip of his coffee, its warmth providing a stark contrast to the chill that seemed to permeate the base. The rain drummed softly against the windows, creating a soothing backdrop to his thoughts. He was rereading the notes from the last class, swinging the pencil between his index and middle finger repeatedly as he held his head up with a hand.
The new recruits were good, but he had to have a keen eye on them now considering how bad last time was.
He glanced at the clock on his desk. It was getting close to lunch break, but he knew he needed to be thorough in his assessment of the recruits. He made a few more notations, circling areas where improvement was needed and underlining the strengths of each individual.
With a sigh, he leaned back in his chair and rubbed his temples. The stress of command, the constant need to make critical decisions, and the ever-present danger of their work weighed on him. He had to ensure that every member of his team was as prepared as possible.
Just as he was about to close the folder, there was a soft knock on his office door. Bradley looked up to see Phoenix peeking inside his office, “Um…what are you still doing there?”
“You don’t knock anymore? What’s this.”
“Oh,pfft,” she sarcastically does so, before leaning her weight on the door handle as she looked at Bradley, “You aren’t going to eat? Everyone is waiting.” she jabs her thumb over her shoulder to where he could see that, indeed, the other pilots were there, standing not too far from Nat, waiting for him, “Come on.”
“Wait,” he narrowed his eyes at the clock, “Is it time? I thought I still had five minutes left.”
Phoenix shrugged, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Time flies when you're buried in paperwork, LC."
Bradley couldn't help but chuckle at her response. "You've got a point there. Let's not keep everyone waiting, then."
He closed the folder and stood up, taking one last sip of his coffee before setting the cup aside.  The rain continued to drum against the windows, but inside the base, it was safe and unbelievably warm, which he was thankful.
“How are the twins?” she asks as the two walk to the Squad’s table, “And Nikki? Are they okay?’
“Yes, they are fine, the twins are still in the NICU but,” hse shrugs, “They are okay, it’s a waiting game now.”
“Hmhm…anyway,something planned for your birthday?”
Bradley's eyes widened as he realized that his birthday was indeed just around the corner. He had been so preoccupied with Bea and the twins, work and the recent influx of new recruits that he had completely forgotten about it.
"Oh, my birthday," he said, his voice tinged with surprise and a touch of embarrassment, scratching the back of his head. "I, uh, I haven't really thought about it, to be honest. With everything going on..."
Phoenix raised an eyebrow . "Come on, LC, you can't let your birthday go by without celebrating. We'll have to plan something, even if it's just a small get-together."
“You don’t have to call me LC,Nat.” he mutters, “It’s weird.” and now she was going to keep calling him that, why did he even open his mouth. “Besides,we don’t know if we’ll be deployed, with how things are going.”
“The new recruits taking a lot from you?”
He makes a face, “Cyclone wants them to ‘not hold any surprises’ like the last two.” which, from last he knew about, weren’t kicked out but were deeply reprimanded, “So it’s a long research and trial and error process…also,I’m not an LC yet, I still have to be officially promoted.”
The two were by the table when he said that, and Coyote heard his voice when those words came out, “We’ll still call you that, come on Rooster.” the mustached pilot makes a face, “You are the first of us to get there.”
Coyote's comment drew a few chuckles from the others at the table, but Bradley couldn't help but feel a bit uncomfortable with the attention. "Well, it's not official yet," he replied, trying to downplay it. "And I've still got a lot to learn."
Phoenix, sitting across from him, leaned forward with a grin. “Javy is right. You're the first among us to reach this point. We should celebrate."
Bradley rubbed the back of his neck, "I appreciate that, really. But let's not jinx it. And besides, there's still a lot of work to be done with the new recruits."
“Jinx it?” Payback asks, “Cyclone isn’t going to take it back from you, he’s not that kind.”
There was a collective nod of agreement from the table, and Bradley couldn't help but laugh almost in embarrassment over his friend’s words. He just decided to focus on having lunch and maybe mentioning something about his birthday while he was there.
Something that was odd, however, was Beatrice’s unusual silence early that morning. The last message she sent was that she got to the Hard Deck safely and was going to talk to Penny. He didn’t want to worry…
Well,he tried not to.
As Bradley settled into lunch with his squad, he joined in the conversation every now and again and it was fine… However, there was a nagging concern in the back of Bradley's mind, a worry that had crept in earlier that morning when Beatrice's messages had suddenly stopped. He knew he shouldn't jump to conclusions, but the silence from his wife, especially after such a harrowing experience as the birth of their premature twins, was cause for concern.
"Hey, Bradley," Phoenix said, snapping him out of his thoughts. "You seem a bit distracted. Everything alright?"
Bradley blinked, realizing he had been staring off into the distance. He forced a smile, though he knew it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Yeah, just thinking about some things."
Payback, who was seated next to him, leaned in. "What's on your mind, Rooster?"
Bradley hesitated for a moment, torn between his concern for Beatrice and not wanting to burden his squad with his personal worries. "It's Bea," he admitted, his voice tinged with unease. "She messaged me earlier, saying she got to the Hard Deck safely, but then her messages stopped. It's not like her to go radio silent."
Coyote, who had been quietly eating his lunch, looked up with concern. "You think something's wrong?"
Bradley shook his head. "I don't know. It's probably nothing, but...I can't help but worry, especially after what happened with the twins."
Phoenix placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure she's just caught up with something. Don't jump to conclusions, Rooster. Give her some time and try to contact her later."
He knew they were right; he shouldn't let his imagination run wild. Still, the unease gnawed at him, making it difficult to fully enjoy his lunch, because Beatrice’s well being was…of his highest interest. He worried about her, he wanted to know if she was okay and while he knew she could handle herself, this was very out of the ordinary.
As the meal continued, the conversation shifted to other topics, such as his birthday or how Hangman’s kid was going to be born soon.  But even as he joined in the banter and shared stories of his own, his thoughts kept drifting back to Beatrice and the silence of her messages. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss.
So he sent her a quick message when everyone was distracted.
Roos (12:12)
Hey gorgeous :) everything okay? How was your talk with Penny?
And to his relief, she replied within seconds.
Bea (12:12)
Hey
Bea (12:13)
It was…something, haha…well, you have time for a call?
Bradley felt a wave of relief wash over him as he read Beatrice's response. Her messages may have been brief, but the fact that she was reaching out to him now eased some of the anxiety that had been building throughout the day. He quickly typed his response.
Roos (12:13)
Of course, Bea. Give me a sec.
Bradley excused himself from the table and made his way to a quieter area where he could have a more private conversation with Beatrice. He couldn't help but feel a sense of worry as he dialed her number. What could have happened that made her messages go silent earlier?
The call connected, and Bradley heard Beatrice's voice on the other end, warm and reassuring. "Hey, you," she said, and he could hear the exhaustion laced in her words.
"Hey, Bea," he replied, his concern evident. "You okay? I was worried when your messages suddenly stopped."
There was a sigh on the other end of the line, and Beatrice's voice carried a mix of frustration and weariness. "I'm sorry about that, Bradley. Things got a bit… chaotic here. Penny,Shells  and I started working on some repairs, and then one thing led to another, and well…Penny wanted to talk."
“About what?”
There was a brief pause, “Those..suits tried to buy the bar off of her.” she whispers “And Penny wanted to talk to us, to both of us since Jessie is back in college right now and she can’t be in the bar.” she sighs quietly “I don’t know, it’s weird? Why this…weird obsession with the bar? They have their own, why would they need the Hard Deck?”
"That is weird," Bradley agreed, his voice thoughtful. "I mean, it's not just any bar. It's got a lot of history for us. And they have their own establishments. Why would they want this one?"
Beatrice let out a tired sigh on the other end of the line. "That's what I'm trying to figure out, Bradley. It just doesn't make sense. But Penny wanted us to be on the same page about it."
“Wait…you figure it out? Gorgeous.”
There was a brief pause before Beatrice spoke again, her voice softer this time. “You know what I mean I— I just love this place.”
He frowns, looking back at the squad still seated, “I know, gorgeous.” he says, “I do too…but there’s only so much we can do..okay? Also, random but,how are you holding up? You sound tired."
Beatrice let out a tired chuckle. "I'm exhausted, I guess. Just…a lot to think about. But…Penny said she didn’t want to make me anxious, just wanted me to know and she’d prefer to say it face to face."
Bradley's heart warmed at her words. " Just remember to take care of yourself too, okay? And the kids?"
Her voice softened as she spoke about their children. "The twins are okay,I just called the hospital before going there and Nikki is with Michael…he's been a real lifesaver. And as for me, I promise I'll rest when I can. Okay?"
"Okay," he replied, his voice filled with longing. "I wish I could be there with you. But I'll be home soon, and we'll talk about it over dinner, how’s that?"
"That sounds wonderful," Beatrice said, and Bradley could hear the smile in her voice. "I love you, Bradley."
"I love you too, Bea," he replied, his heart swelling with affection as he leans closer to the wall, keeping his voice low. "Stay safe, and we'll talk soon."
After ending the call with Beatrice, Bradley felt a renewed sense of reassurance. It was clear that Beatrice was dealing with a stressful situation, but he was glad it wasn’t that bad. When Penny talked to him it was like she was going to lead Bea into a spy mission or something with how intense she sounded.
As he returned to the squad's table, his friends looked at him with curiosity. Phoenix, in particular, seemed eager for an update. "Everything okay, Rooster?"
Bradley nodded, a small smile on his face. "Yeah, just a little hiccup at the Hard Deck. Nothing too worrisome."
“You sure?”
“Yeah,” he says, sitting back down, “What did I miss?”
-
“I’m home.” he calls, tossing his keys to the side and leaning down to pet the dogs who hurriedly came over to greet him, “Hey guys, where’s Beatrice at?” Eleanor turned her head towards Beatrice’s little studio, where he could see a light was on and there was the soft murmuring from his wife in there.
"Thanks, girl," Bradley said to Eleanor, giving her a final pat on her butt before standing up. He made his way down the hallway, the wooden floor creaking under his footsteps as he approached the studio door. He paused for a moment, listening to Beatrice's voice, the soothing cadence of her words making him smile.
He pushed the door open slowly and was greeted by the sight of Beatrice hunched over her desk, her long, brown hair cascading down as she focused intently on her work. She was surrounded by a sea of sketchbooks, pencils, and art supplies, her hands moving with practiced grace as she brought her latest creation to life.
Beatrice looked up as the door creaked open, her eyes, those green irises that are the death of him, lighting up with a mixture of surprise and delight when she saw Bradley standing there. She quickly set her sketchpad aside and got up from her chair, crossing the room in a few graceful strides.
"Hey, you," she greeted him with a loving smile, her arms wrapping around him in a tight hug. "Welcome home."
Bradley returned the hug, his arms enveloping her in a warm embrace. He pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head, breathing in the familiar scent of her hair. "Missed you," he murmured into her hair.
"I missed you too," Beatrice replied, her voice filled with genuine affection. "How was your day?"
Bradley released her from the hug but kept his arms around her waist, reveling in the closeness. "Busy," he admitted with a small sigh. "But I can't complain too much."
Beatrice's hand reached up to gently stroke his cheek, her touch as tender as her words. "You're doing an amazing job, Bradley. I'm so proud of you."
He couldn't help but smile at her words. Beatrice had always been his biggest supporter, his anchor in the storm of their demanding professions. "Thanks, Bea. How about you? Did you rest when you came home?”
Beatrice sighed while leading him further into the studio, letting him sit down on the small couch there, “A little, after I went to the hospital for the twins and brought Nikki home, she’s asleep by the way…but I couldn’t stay in bed for too long. I was,” she flexed her finger, “Itching.”
“Yeah?”
“I think I wanted to ease some anxieties,’ she picks up a piece of paper, it’s harsh oil pastel lines forming the outside of the Hard Deck at night time, “And I was just…thinking about stuff,I guess.”
He hummed, plucking the paper from her hand to look down at it, following the lines that were a bit too deep in the paper - some parts even had bits of wax clinging to the surface - before saying, “It looks great.” she gives him a small smile as she crosses her arms and leans against her desk, “You alright?”
She shrugs, “...I think I’m wondering about things.”
“The bar?”
“Mhm.” she bites her lower lip, sucking on the plush flesh with her teeth gently nibbling it,”It’ll be alright but…Penny wouldn’t tell us anything unless she was worried.” she sighs and he leans back on his seat, patting his thighs. She wastes no time in plopping on his lap, hugging his middle while burying her face on his shoulder.
“I know.” he coos, kissing her jaw, “She can count on us for anything, gorgeous. But…we also have to worry about the kids and you have to worry about yourself.” he gently boops her nose with his finger when she gives him the puppy dog look, “...you have a huge heart. And you worry about those you care about a lot.” she pouts more, “And that’s a quality I love about you.”
“Thanks,Roos.” she sighs, pressing her cheek to his chest, ‘...seems like a lot at once, too soon, you know?”
He arches his brows, hugging her waist, “Boy do I ever.” he chuckles tiredly, “...it’ll be fine.”
“...I know.”
“I mean that,” he kisses her forehead, “...it’ll all be fine.”

The Most Epic Avengers/X-Men Story in 60 years
It’s hard to say which is the greatest Avengers story in the last 60 years. The same goes for X-Men
Both teams came into existence on July 2nd, 1963 thanks to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Both redefined the concept of a superhero team in the most Marvel way possible, and both have led to the creation of many new characters as well as comic book titles
And yet, if we have to choose a story that involves both teams that was published at a time when both were dominating the headlines in the comic book industry, only one epic stands out from the rest
But before we reveal our verdict, here’re some notable mentions in which Avengers & X-Men (core teams) crossed paths with each other:
Uncanny X-Men no. 9 (1964)
Tumblr media
Uncanny X-Men no. 45/Avengers no. 53 (1968)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Secret Wars (1984)
Tumblr media
Uncanny X-Men no. 190-191 (1985)
Tumblr media
X-Men vs The Avengers (1987 Limited Series)
Tumblr media
X-Men/Avengers Bloodties (1993, 30th Anniversary Crossover)
Tumblr media
X-Men/Marvel Universe: Onslaught (1996)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
X-Men vs The Avengers (2012)
Tumblr media
The Verdict
In 2005, rising star Brian Michael Bendis after shaking much of the Marvel Universe with his Avengers: Disassembled and Secret War stories gave the readers an epic: House of M
The X-Men were riding high from Grant Morrison’s run while the Avengers were coming off the most shocking event in their history with some of their members being killed off for good by an out-of-control Scarlet Witch
This is a story that broke heroes from within. This is a story that shocked the comic book community to the core. There were no Magneto’s Acolytes involved, nor there was Doctor Doom or the Beyonder as the main antagonist(s). While the title had implied Magneto through the use and emphasis on the letter ‘M’, the reality as it unfolded by issue no. 8 was completely mind-blowing for it involved two of the oldest Avengers that were the cause of this ordeal
While Wanda’s madness has been explored before, this story took it to a whole new level. It changed the Marvel Universe (really) and it wounded our favorite heroes deeply, adding to their existing emotional traumas in the most unexpected ways possible
It is a story where pleasant dreams shroud the heartbreaking realities of our superheroes until they break free from Wanda’s hex/hypnosis

It's clear enough to see. Perma-paywall is out... crap like ad-*ly are out... using Sims 4 like text, sims 4 like style and sims 4 like logos including plumbob is out... basically they're asking you not to advertise your stuff like it's part of their stuff.... early access is ok... long as things are free within reasonable amount of time...which drake mentioned 2-3 weeks back in 2017 via this post.

December 1 — Reviewing November Data
I love data so let’s assess how the past month went using my Fitbit info. First, though, the daily check-in.
Tumblr media
Current weight: 194.3 lbs
My reaction when I saw the number on the scale? Honestly? “This is fucking bullshit.” It continues to blow my mind that I can eat so little, exercise, and not lose weight. However, I’m still committed. So many things in life come so easily to me. I’m going to let this be hard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thursday, December 1:
Cold brew before the gym
Breakfast — Cold brew, stir fry with 2 eggs, chickpeas. half of a sweet potato, half of an onion, and half of a garlic clove. I ate half of the veggies and saved the rest for another day. Then I added the two eggs to my stir fry.
Dinner — Greek salad with salmon
I have been feeling lethargic today. I even took a nap and moved one of my activities to the next day because I was so sleepy. But maybe this is a good sign. When we’re accessing our stored fat, from what I’ve read, we’re supposed to feel more tired. It’s like eating frozen food, it’s not supposed to feel fresh.
Alright so let’s dig into the November data.
Here’s my weight:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was feeling annoyed that I didn’t get to 190, but I did lose about 6-7 lbs this month. And I’ve been working out out hard, with my arms sore alllll last week, so some muscle gain must be contributing to the apparently slow weight loss.
For funsies, here’s how many calories I burned:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, most days it’s over 3k! And for anyone new here, it’s that high of a number because I’m 6’ tall.
My steps:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve been steadily increasing my step count since I got the Fitbit in August. This month I was sick twice, which is why there are a few days in the beginning and middle of the month with very low step counts. And yeah, you would think as a server I’d be getting crazy #s of steps, but our restaurant is very small. On slow days I barely get 3k steps at work!
So those are my stats right now! I’m looking forward to comparing them with next month’s.

“The Belles” review! (This week’s reviews are fairly short, sorry)
Hello, Tumblrians! I don’t know if I quite have a lengthy introduction for this, but it was one of the books I read to clear off my reading queue before The Wicked Bargain’s release ^^! (Although I didn’t get my hands on the book until a little under a week after that. But I’m an impatient person, and the two days in between finishing TOSAB and the release date meant that I had a reading void I desperately wanted to but felt like I needed to fill.) Anyhow! Book Discovery Backstory: I just found this in the closest library by my house (as you’ve probably noticed, almost all of my reads are from libraries because a) cheaper, b) my reading times can be short when I’m invested, and it’s best to get books on a renewal/borrow cycle that reflects that). I remembered liking Uglies as a middle-schooler because I’d absorbed knowledge of the books from extensive rants my brother would tell to me as we played video games or finished puzzles, so the premise intrigued me because it contained themes that were in that series as well. There was also the fact that I’d seen this title before! Dhionelle Clayton’s been a frequent reviewer on the covers of a good chunk of fantasy books I’ve either read or had on my TBR. I wanted to see what writing she’d made herself, after seeing her comment on (and praise) so many others’.
“The Belles” is one of three books in a trilogy, published in 2018 (although the idea was something Clayton came up with as a highschooler in the 90’s, there’s an interesting backstory for that in the acknowledgments). Within the kingdom of Orleáns, almost all citizens are born as “Gris”; people cursed to be ugly, and void of color(only being shades on the grayscale) after a conflict between the gods years prior. However, there are a few that are born as regular humans, in full color and grace: The Belles, who have abilities that allow them to give cosmetic procedures to the Gris in order to make them beautiful. (“Beautiful” in quotations or otherwise.) Here we follow our protagonist, a Belle named Camillia(or “Camille” for short), studying hard to be the Favorite of her generation and work as a Belle for the queen. She gets the role, after her friend Amber is suddenly let go from it, but ends up discovering that her world isn’t as beautiful as she’s been taught to think.
Tumblr media
I devoured a lot of this book. Clayton herself is a strong writer, I loved the descriptions she used too, they added a flowery-ness to the world that eventually went away the more grotesque details we got! Although, nothing much happens in the first half. It mainly serves as an introduction to the world we’re in, which makes sense for the pacing, but once I hit the 190 pages mark it felt like it was dragging on a bit. After that though, things escalate. To be honest, I was expecting more disturbing things to happen(in regards to the procedures specifically, as we saw some of the bad they could do), but Princess Sophia proved herself to be an incredibly threatening villain, and I was still nervous reading most of the climax play out even if I knew the lead would turn out fine if we had two more books, and the ending of the first was mildly spoiled in their summaries. The plot twists themselves weren’t anything to write home about, though. I know I say “oh this plot twist was predictable!” a lot in my reviews (except for that Lost Dreamer review lmao that book was strange), but it?? Still applied here basically.
Thematically, as I predicted, it shared some similarities to Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (not similar in premise though, that’s for sure), but it also had a healthy dosage of Hunger Games influence in it! So those who liked 2000’s and 2010’s YAs will probably enjoy this one too.
Kind of branching off though, I skimmed through some spoiler-free reviews halfway through (they didn’t influence me y’all don’t worry lmao), and was in for a pretty nasty discovery that they had some Bury Your Gays in here? Thankfully, I don’t think Princess Sophia ended up realizing the character’s sexuality(or her secret relationship at the time), but the character’s death does still technically fall into that category. That made me pretty upset as a queer reader to be honest, but I think this was moreso a misstep on Clayton’s part than genuine malicious intent? She sprinkled in a smidgen of trans-inclusive worldbuilding (apparently the procedures can be used for gender affirming too? I wonder if they’re allowed to have more permanent ones though, and how beauty standards affect transgender Orleáneans?), and not outing the character before her death was presented as the logically and morally correct option for Camille. Hopefully Clayton’s realized some of the issues with that in her writing since then though, because she’s the only character I can really think of who we got to know well and got killed off? (I know there’s technically also The Queen, but it was presumably of non-murder causes.)
That’s probably my biggest issue with the book. I liked most of the other aspects to it (the romance also wasn’t so bad, actually), Camille was a capable protagonist amidst her circumstances, and it did make me feel pretty nostalgic of those days where I read a few YA sci-fi or fantasy dystopias. The..aforementioned issue did ruin a lot of my reading experience though.
But, I think the plot has a lot going for it, and I’m invested in this story now, so I’ll be reading both the sequel and the book after that.
Overall, I’d give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars.

fine morning – breakfast at 9 5/.. just over when Hadji Yussuf came about 10, alone – the Armenian would not go for less than 60 ducats per month – an end of it – he is named Sciahurn gouverneur au gymnase – would lose his appointments and his 2 or 3 pupils who pay him 20/. or 15/. assignat per lesson – I expressed my surprise that he had at first said money was not his object but he should like to make a pleasant voyage – said I should send for the servant I had named – but on talking things over Y- mentioned a young man in the General en chefs’
chancellerie (Naubarroff) who if he could get leave from the General would do better than Chacon – said I should like to know if possible today on account of getting off as at the 1st moment I could – Saturday au plus tard – he will try to give me an answer today whether N- would like it or not for 30 Ducats per month – while I had Hadji, A- had her Georgian Armenian giving her her 2nd lesson in silver braiding – got her frame and all complete this morning – lesson at ./50 silver per hour – Hadji hardly gone before the chef de police came to explain – another mésintendre – the message he sent was, that as George said he would come if he could the next day, but that he desired the servant to tell me, he was very busy and if he did not come begged I would send the servant again to say what I wanted – such was the substance plus poliement exprimée – of course, I expressed my satisfaction to find the fault rested with the servant, adding that I had been annoyed to find here the only inattention chef de police I had met with in Russia – he hoped I would tell General G- how the matter was – said I would do so with pleasure and would also tell General Braïko – of that Mr. le chef took no notice but hoped I would tell the general or chef who it seems reprimanded him this morning – said he had been wanting in his duty, and particularly towards us as strangers – what a difference since this word or 2 from the general en chef! now our chef de police is all civility – he will do anything – will enter into and arrange the matter of Naubarroff whom he knows and who is brave garçon – thinks 30 ducats per month enough – said he would eat with us – quant à cela, said I, he will have need of doing better than that – we take little or no meat or wine – still he thought the 30D. enough – he will also pay Hein, if H- refuses to be paid in paper at the rate of 3/50 per silver ruble – nobody could be more civil – then on his going away (at 11 5/..) talked a little to A- then wrote the whole of the last page and so far of this till now 12 50/.. at which hour R19° and F75° on my table – then read aloud to A- account of Ouplostsikhé iii. 190 et seq. Dubois and sat talking till the Armenian came about before 3 – Mr. Sciahum, native of Smyrna, came – it seems he would go with us for 2 months for 60 ducats – shewed our excellent testimonial given by the secretary of vice admiral Sir Josias Rowley on board the Caledonia in Vourla bay where Sciahum had acquitted himself well from 25 November 1834 to 7 January I think it was 1835 as dragoman – and only left the ship because she then went off to Malta – the 2 Amer[i]can gentlemen he had been with about a year had only to regret that his health was not strong – he said he was ill then but well now – said I was sorry but I believe that all was now all but arranged with another person – had S- come with Mr. Hadji Yussuf this morning all would have been settled at the moment – but Mr. H.Y. was no sooner gone, then the matter was taken in hand
SH:7/ML/E/24/0130
for the person whom i now expected to have – should there be any contretemps I would think of S- and let him know – but should he hear nothing from me today or Tomorrow he would conclude all was settled – Perhaps he is now sorry that he did not take my offer thro’ Mr. Hadji Yussuf – but he spoke as if he would not be sorry to go with us to Persia – said he had been at Tabriz – he bought everything for the Armenian gentlemen and they expressed themselves in the writing perfectly satisfied – ‘tis now 3 ¾ p.m. and R19 1/3° and F nearly 76° on my table – dinner at 5 5/.. and over and had cut my nails in an hour – changed my dress – A- and I out at 6 ½ and A- seated at 7 on [house] top on the road to the botanic garden left her there sketched and walked downhill and crossed the bridge over the bath-stream, and sauntered about among the gardens along the river and then back to A- by a road in front below her – just over the stream – stood some time by a woman spinning cotton same as the woman used to spin wool long since with us except that instead of standing and walking 2 or 3 steps forwards and back again, the woman here sat and had her little wheel (about 18in. diameter) on the ground and spun out the thread to the length she could stretch out her left arm – coarse cotton thread – A- sketched till 8 10/.. – home about 8 40/.. – cold tea, and lemonade (homemade at the moment of lemons) and figs and were sitting talking when Mr. Hadji Yussuf came at 9 ½ and staid till 10 ½ - the chef de police had been to the chancellerie and spoken to the head of it Mr. Timofaef and to the young man who when asked if he would like to accompany us, did not know but turning to T- said he was his chef and he would go if he ordered him – but the truth is the young man (as is natural) will be very glad to go, and will be very well satisfied with the 30 ducats per month – Mr. Hadji has given some lesson in Tartar to general Scallon of whom he speaks very highly – hopes to get his grammar finished next spring – 4 copies – one for the Emperor one for London one for Paris, one for himself – wrote all but the first 7 lines of this page till now 11 50/.. at which hour R19 ½° and F75 ½° on my table and one of our six windows open (to the East – into the street) – very fine day – sorry we were out this evening – Madame and Mademoiselle Golovin (walked) called this evening almost immediately after we were gone out –

A British work of art in Gorgeous Bordeaux red color 1959 Jaguar XK150 Roadster!
Jaguars are known for their ability to balance comfort, luxury, style, and sporting capability.
Production of the Jaguar XK-150 began in the spring of 1957 and would become the last of the tradition 1950s Jaguars. Although similar in appearance to the XKE cars it was replaced, it was certainly a different machine. It retained the same basic chassis, engine, and Moss four-speed gearbox, but its outward appearance was different and wider and there was more interior room for the occupants. Four inches were added to the center of the body making the extra width possible. A one-piece wraparound windscreen improved visibility. The radiator grille was changed slightly. The biggest improvement to the vehicle’s performance was the addition of Dunlop disc brakes on all four corners of the car. The XK-150 produced the same amount of horsepower as the XK140, so their performance was identical in terms of speed. The SE option added a modified cylinder head and larger exhaust valves which increased the standard 190 hp to 210. In 1958 the Model S was introduced which raised the vehicles performance even further. With the help of three two-inch SU HD8 carburetors, a Weslake-developed cylinder head, and high compression pistons, horsepower rose to an impressive 250 brining the zero-to-sixty time in just over seven seconds. All the XK-150s were offered with an optional Borg-Warner automatic gearbox and a choice of either steel or wire wheels. On the S Model, a limited-slip differential could be ordered as optional equipment. There were 2265 examples of the XK-150 Roadster produced with only 888 being the highly-sought after Model S.

Rooster has Nicole playing with his sunglasses, babbling happily and completely unaware of her fathers dumbfounded look “sit-“ he does look around a bit until he sees the seat, letting himself fall on it and stare at Bea with surprise in his gaze, ‘...how exactly do you-”
“Shells.”
“Shells?” he repeats, incredulously, “How the fu-how the hell does Shells knows about that?”
“I think that, by now Roos, we both learned to not question what Shells does,” she whispers, “For our own mental sanity.”
Rooster just gives his wife a weird look, then holds his head up with his hand as he props his elbow on the back of the couch, ‘...fair. So, uh, how…exactly did that happen?”
-
“You don’t have to wash my dishes,Bea.” Evelyn says as she slowly walks into the kitchen, grunting to herself as she sits down on the chair, the thought of helping her brunette friend no longer in her mind.
Beatrice just smiles as she rinses the plate, setting it aside to dry, “Well,I want to.” she says, tossing a smile towards her friend before returning her gaze on the chores, “We’re guests here and it feels right to do so. Plus it’s not good for you to be standing for too long, believe me,I know.”
‘Rooster doesn’t let you do much, right?’
“I admit, he was a bit,” she searches for the words, pursing her lips and shaking her head from side to side, “Overbearing when I first had Nikki, but it’s understandable, she’s our first born after all. With the twins it was less nerve wracking.” and it was true, for both of them. She still had her moments, her fears and all, but she was much better now.
Maybe it was because of how much the twins were growing and already being more active.
Evelyn hummed, sipping her glass of water as she folded her arms on top of the table, turning her head to check on Shells. The blonde decided to be the babysitter for both of them while Beatrice busied herself with the dishes, keeping Nicole on her lap as she shows her different shows on her phone while she had her back touching Jake Jr.’s little bassinet, “Yeah, tell me about it.” Evelyn says, adjusting herself on the chair, “Did it take you too long to get used to it? The whole,” she gestured to her body when Beatrice looked at her, “Changes.”
“Um… not too long I guess.” she shrugs, this time washing a few glasses, “I just, well, I had a bit of the baby blues after I had Nikki, so I felt every change in my body was obvious but, it wasn’t. My body hasn’t really changed that much if that makes sense. Why?”
“My boobs hurt a lot.”
Beatrice sputters a laugh, trying her best to keep her laughter to a minimum as she wipes her hands on a rag, “Well, it’ll get very painful.” she says, out of a kind warning, “Breastfeeding will be…a challenge. Nikki didn’t latch on me for the first few times, but once she did,” and just the memory made her chest ache, “She just did it with full force.”
Her friend looked to the side with her brows furrowing, closing the robe around herself as she thought about what Beatrice said, “Yeah,my mom said the same thing.” she was about to say more but Shells’ sudden exclamation made both of them snap their heads towards her.
Did something happen to the kids???
Beatrice walked out of the kitchen first, immediately dropping her gaze on Nicole - who was still on Shells’ lap but this time was lying on top of her thighs while playing with her teething ring - and exhaled in relief once she saw Evelyn’s little boy was still asleep, ‘Jesus,Shells.”
“Bea!” she shakes her phone, “You’ll never guess!”
“What?” Evelyn questions, repeating the same motions Beatrice did once she was close enough, “What was scary enough for you to act like that??”
Shells looked immensely proud of herself, “I found a last name for Beatrice’s annoying neighbor.” she “Halton. That’s her full name, Miranda Halton.”
Evelyn furrowed her brows while looking towards Beatrice, “Who?”
Beatrice blinked, momentarily confused by the sudden revelation. She turned to Shells, her expression going from curiosity to concern in seconds. "Wait, you found Miranda's last name? How in the world did you manage that?"
Shells smirked,  shrugging nonchalantly "Well," she began, "I was doing some light digging, you know, just browsing through some local directories, and voila! There it was, plain as day. Miranda Halton."
Beatrice exchanged a puzzled glance with Evelyn before turning her attention back to Shells. "You were looking through local directories? Why?"
Shells shrugged, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "I was bored, Bea. And I was just curious."
Evelyn leaned forward, hands propped on her hips while her brows furrow, ‘Neither of you told me who this Miranda person is yet,” she points a finger to Shells’ face, “And you better have a good reason to yelp like that, scaring me like crazy.”
Beatrice exchanged a glance with Shells before sighing and turning her attention back to Evelyn. "Miranda is our next-door neighbor," she explained. "She's…an interesting character, to say the least."
Evelyn's curiosity was piqued, and she motioned for them to continue with her brows arched and hands still propped on her hips, full mom move. "Interesting in what way?"
Shells leaned in, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Well, she's a bit of a “ and she covers Nicole’s ears, “Bitch for one, she’s also very nosy, a new Navy wife in the neighborhood. She likes showing up in Bea’s doorstep from time to time.” the brunette, who had her mouth open to continue just nodded while shutting it, giving Evelyn a little shrug, “And she’s passive aggressive to Bea too.”
Now, that, got Evelyn’s attention, “Passive-agressive?”
“Well…a-a little?” Beatrice smiles sheepishly, “I mean, she does show up and likes to mention things or analyze me or Roos, like when we were at the grocery store,” she frowns, “She’s just weird and Shells wanted to go full detective on her and I told her–”
“Wait,” Evelyn held up her hand, “When you two visited me, was that why she was in disguise??”
Beatrice couldn't help but laugh as she remembered the absurdity of the situation. "Yes," she admitted, "that's exactly why. She wanted to go undercover to check out the mysterious neighbor."
“...at the hospital.”
“...yeah.”
Evelyn brought her hand up to her eyes, rubbing her eyelids with a soft grunt escaping her mouth, “Okay, well, alright.” she sighs, “Now that you know that, what changes?”
Beatrice exchanged a knowing look with Shells, both of them realizing that Evelyn was taking this situation surprisingly well, all things considered. For now at least.
"Well," Shells began, "now that we know her last name, we can potentially find out more about her online. Maybe figure out why she's so fixated on them." Evelyn’s eyebrows went up to her hairline once she heard that
Evelyn widened her eyes. "You can’t be serious. Isn't it a bit invasive?"
Shells grinned mischievously. "Evelyn, my dear, when you're dealing with a mysterious and annoying neighbor, sometimes you have to resort to unconventional methods. Don't worry; we won't do anything illegal."
“We?”
Shells turned to Beatrice, pointing to her with her cellphone, “She’s your neighbor, isn’t she?”
“Well, yeah but,” Beatrice rubs her hands together, “Just finding out who she is, I mean, her last name, is good enough for me? I don’t think we can investigate her,Shells. At all. I’ve been avoiding her every chance I get.”
Evelyn crossed her arms, her displeased frown deepening as she sighed. After a few seconds of contemplation, she opened her palm towards Shells. "Let me see what she looks like," she said, her curiosity getting the best of her. "I want to know too now; you two have piqued my interest."
Shells eagerly handed her phone to Evelyn, who quickly began scrolling through the pictures. Beatrice and Shells leaned in, their eyes fixed on Evelyn's reactions. As Evelyn swiped through the photos, her expression shifted from intrigue to surprise, “I know this woman.”
"What?!”
“Her husband had just transferred to the base,” she says while still looking at the phone screen, “My dad told me about it,”
“Ooooh, the plot thickens!!” Shells smirks, being careful of Nicole on her lap as she leans closer to Evelyn, “Where did they come from then? Since they aren’t from San Diego?”
Evelyn's eyes darted back and forth between the photos on Shells' phone and the eager faces of Beatrice and Shells. Nicole, while still a baby, could send when the gossip was hot and moved her light eyes to Evelyn as well.
Evelyn finally looked up from the phone and met Beatrice and Shells' expectant gazes. "They came from a Navy base in Virginia. I remember my dad talking about a new aviator transfer a few weeks ago."
Beatrice's eyes widened, and she leaned in closer, her voice hushed with intrigue. "Virginia? But– like Roos? Rooster is from Virginia!” she whispers, “Oh…oh he’s not going to like that.”
Evelyn shrugged, still processing the information. "I don't know the details, but it's not uncommon.Maybe there was a specific reason for the transfer."
“Sooo.” Shells rubs her chin, “Miranda Halton and her husband–”
“Mark.” Evelyn adds, crossing her arms.
“Mark, come from Virginia to San Diego and now she’s acting weird around Bea.” Shells hummed again, narrowing her eyes, “Could it be that they know Rooster is from there and want to befriend you guys?”
“You know, considering how she’s acted.” Beatrice frowns a bit,”I doubt it. Rooster doesn’t know nor like her either, and when he doesn’t like someone he…isn’t subtle.”which was one of the many qualities her husband had.
Evelyn hummed, placing her hands on her hips, “You know what,” she says, “If they are trying to make friends here, they aren’t doing a good job.”
“Not to mention she looks like a Stepford wife.’ Shells mutters, standing up to her feet as she gives Nicole back to her mother, making Beatrice grin and kiss her daughter’s forehead, “Fuckin’ weird if you ask me, this whole,” she moves her hands, “Shit show.”
“Shells.” Beatrice warns, moving her eyes from her friends to Nikki who just nibbles on her teething ring.
“Oh,please,Rooster says worse stuff and he’s her dad.”
Shells chuckled and rolled her eyes, realizing Beatrice had a point. "Fair enough," she conceded, and then turned her attention back to Evelyn. "So, what should we do now? Should we try to talk to Miranda and Mark and figure out what's going on?"
Beatrice  wrung her hands together ."I want to talk to Rooster first, see what he…thinks about it. If we should do anything anyway.”
Evelyn considered the proposal for a moment. "Sounds good to me,” she says, “We wouldn’t want anyone,” she points her gaze to Shells, “To get arrested.”
“Hey!”
-
Beatrice finished her explanation, her hands gesturing animatedly as she looked at her husband. His reaction left her a bit worried. He just stared at her, mouth slightly ajar, his brown eyes locked onto her as if processing everything.
"Roos?" She prodded gently, concern in her voice. "You okay?"
After what felt like an eternity, he finally responded, his Southern accent slipping through in his astonishment. "You're tellin' me," he began, "that Halton is from Virginia? Son of a bitch, I had no idea."
Beatrice blinked, slightly taken aback by his singular focus on this one detail. "Um... yeah," she replied cautiously, "that's what we've been talking about."
Rooster, still holding their giggling daughter Nicole in his arms, seemed to snap out of his surprise. He raised his free hand, gesturing wildly as he spoke. "He said nothin' about it! What a weird fuckin' thing."
“Baby, is that all you got from what I said?” she asks with a small frown, “Like…from all that I said?”
Rooster shook his head as if trying to clear his thoughts. "No, sorry, honey. It's just... you know how much I love Virginia. It's where I grew up, and I always talk about it. But I never heard a word about Halton bein' from there."
"Well, maybe he didn't mention it for a reason. We don't know what's going on with them."
Rooster nodded, his expression shifting from surprise to a more serious demeanor. "You're right, Bea. We should keep an eye out and see how things go."
Beatrice sits on her knees, chewing her lower lip, “You think so?”
“I mean,I’ll have to work with the guy,” he shrugs with a frown, “Guess I’ll figure out what I can find about him, he’s…he was kinda weird about talking to Mav though.” he wasn’t being protective of his uncle…well maybe a little, “About what a legend he was and what not. But, you know, it was off for some reason. And he knew about me before I even found out about him.”
“I mean, handsome,” she shrugs, “You are kind of a big deal.”
Rooster grinned, his ego getting a boost from Beatrice's compliment, his chest puffing up without him noticing. "Well, you're not wrong there, babe," he said with a playful wink. "But seriously, something about Halton just doesn't sit right with me. I'll keep an eye on him and see if I can dig up any info from the grapevine."
Beatrice leaned in, resting her head on Rooster's shoulder as he held Nicole. "Just be careful, okay? We don't want to start any drama with our neighbors."
He placed a reassuring kiss on her forehead. "I promise, I'll handle it discreetly. No drama." he kisses her forehead, “It’s just to figure out what the hell they want with us, and if he’s from Virginia,I want to know exactly where. How come I hadn’t noticed it?” he frowns, “I should notice it.”
Beatrice smiles sweetly, cupping his chin and holding his face as she kisses his cheek, breaking some of his complaining the second her lips touched his face, “You are so cute.” she coos, kissing his lips this time, “You truly are…you hungry?”
Rooster chuckled at Beatrice's affectionate response and returned her kiss with equal tenderness. "You always know how to distract me," he said with a playful grin. "And yeah, I could go for something to eat. What do you have in mind?"
Beatrice got up from her kneeling position and stood, gently taking Nicole from Rooster's arms. "How about I whip up some of your favorite comfort food? Mac and cheese?"
Rooster's eyes lit up at the mention of mac and cheese. "Oh, you're speakin' my language, babe. You're the best."
As Beatrice headed to the kitchen, Rooster settled on the couch, cradling a throw pillow and watching their daughter playfully babble and reach for imaginary objects. He couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over him. Despite the oddity of their new neighbors, he had his loving wife and precious daughter by his side, and that was all that truly mattered.
While Beatrice prepared the mac and cheese in the kitchen, Rooster's mind kept drifting back to the mysterious Miranda Halton. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to her and her husband than met the eye. As much as he loved Virginia, he couldn't help but wonder why Halton hadn't mentioned his home state or why he seemed to know so much about Rooster's background.
Well, he had time to think about it later.

#notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article
