Tumblr media
The magic of soulmates was first discovered centuries ago; too long ago for the story to be remembered correctly, but through the years, the general gist remains the same amongst families of witches and wizards.
From birth, a witch and wizard are paired with another witch or wizard. It would take time to find their match; it would take patience of the strongest sort, but they will meet their soulmate should good fortune befall them.
How do they know they have a soulmate?
Anything written on skin; be it a word, a quote, a doodle – it all appears on their soulmates skin. Anything other than their name. Centuries of debate and arguments over the exact reason for this decree fell over the world. In the end, the ministries and the scholars across the world threw their hands up in exasperation, declaring that the decree relating to the naming of soulmates would have to stay and the reasoning being that those making the decree were too awkward and stubborn to think of making life easier for an entire society that had to go into hiding.
For years, witches and wizards, once old enough, are able to communicate with their destined other half. The itch of a sentence being written becomes familiar; almost tolerable. Over time, they get to know their penmanship and their inner most secrets only dared scrawled onto their skin that could be hurriedly washed away if needed.
By the time the young witches and wizards in the United Kingdom have reached the age to start Hogwarts, their soulmate is already a part of them.
Now it was just trying to whittle down the student population of the school to discover who exactly was your appointed other half from birth.
---------
Most soulmate matches at Hogwarts are made in the months April to July – it’s when the weather starts to warm up; becoming bearable enough for the short sleeved blouses and shirts to be dug out from the very bottom of trunks.
Arms are on display for most of the day. It means that matches are made in the corridor, in the classrooms, in the Great Hall. Everywhere across the castle matches are made.
It’s wonderful, it is. But it also makes you more impatient.
You’re in the library when another match is made. Madame Pince tries her hardest to hush the new match into some level of quiet, but it does no good and thankfully, she evicts them from the library and the hush soon falls back over the great room with the same sense of a comforting blanket.
Rolling the sleeve of your cardigan up, you delicately write, “I’ve just seen the third match made of the day and it’s not even noon.”
It doesn’t take long for your soulmate to reply, “I’ve seen two so far. Where was your third?”
“The library.”
“I bet Pince was thrilled.”
You snort at their reply; amused at how well they know the school’s librarian.
“When is it going to be our turn?” You ask somewhat hesitantly.
The reply takes a few minutes, but it comes all the same in the elegant script you’ve come to know, “Soon.”
You rag your sleeve back down in frustration, repressing the building groan. You didn’t know your soulmate’s name, but you had given him the nickname of ‘aloof’. He had gone to great personal care to not reveal too much about himself other than the fact that he was male, he went to Hogwarts and he was your age.
That was something at least, but your countless attempts to find out more had been rebuffed. When you asked why, he simply answered that he wanted to leave as much as he could a surprise. You understood that, but the curiosity got to you.
You sigh heavily returning to the homework laid in front of you, but your mind continues to play the realisation that had happened only moments ago. The happiness on their faces; their utter elation tied in with the adoration they already felt for the other.
It was hard, you realise, to be in love with someone you’ve only spoken to through words and doodles on your arm.
-----
The week doesn’t get any easier; the weather only turns warmer, so the outer robes are ditched completely. You leave the Great Hall the morning Lily Evans realised she had been talking to James Potter since she was a child. You couldn’t watch it and still feel the same empty feeling that had settled within you so long ago.
Your friend June and her boyfriend follow you from the Great Hall. They find you facing one of the many tapestries that depict the meeting of soulmates; they’re found all over the castle and each one feels like a dagger to the stomach.
“It’ll happen soon,” June comforts, placing a soft hand on your shoulder.
“Soon! Soon! That’s all he says,” You explode. Then you repeat in a quieter voice, “That’s all he says. He’s here and he’s close and all he says is soon. What if he doesn’t want to meet me, June?”
June tuts, “Then he’s a damn fool. However, he does want to meet you. He replies doesn’t he?”
You nod your head, but her words do nothing to comfort the growing sense of dread within you.
It was rare, but the soulmate bond could be rejected. There were those in the wizarding world who were born without a soulmate, but there were also those who simply didn’t want one, so they never replied to their partner’s pleading. Instead, they chose to ignore every word, every plea, every beg. For the bond to be accepted, the first reply is important. If words are never painted on your skin, the bond is rejected.
For not the first time that day, you sigh, “I know we have forever to know each other, but is it so wrong of me to want that to start now?”
June squeezes your shoulder, “It’s not wrong at all.”
You continue to stare at the tapestry a little while longer after June and her boyfriend depart; the depiction of soulmates shown in the quill being held by both parties.
Running a hand through your hair, you turn your back on the portrayal of true love, your mind focused on how long it would be until you experience something of the same magnitude.
-----
The day after James and Lily have their realisations, you find Sirius Black’s eyes on you at breakfast. When you meet eyes, he smiles at you, raising his hand in wave. You smile back politely, waving back awkwardly before shaking your head and returning to your breakfast and the latest letter from your brother and his new wife.
They had settled well into their new house; they loved their wedding present, thank you; and yes, you were to have a niece or nephew by the end of the year.
Wonderful.
Shoving the letter from your brother into your bag with more force than what is needed, you feel someone standing next to you. Looking up you meet the grey eyes of Sirius Black; he smiles down at you, “Are you okay?”
You fix him with a puzzled look, “Why wouldn’t I be?”
He shrugs, “You were frowning so big I noticed it from down the table. I thought I would come see if you’re okay.”
“Well, I’m fine. Thanks for checking on me though.”
He nods, shoving his hands into his trouser pockets. He doesn’t say anything else and you don’t offer to fill the void, so the silence sits between you as heavy as a rock.
You stand from the bench; throwing your bag onto your shoulder, “Thanks again, Sirius. I’ll see you later.”
Sirius shifts out of your way, clearing the path for you, “My pleasure. I’ll see you later.”
You shake your head as you walk away; the encounter being an odd one given that your social circle didn’t tend to include any of the Marauders. But there was something about his final words; something about the way he uttered them that made them sound as if they were a promise to you.
You rush the thought from your mind; refusing to let yourself being occupied by someone who wasn’t your soulmate.
---
Sirius begins to take more notice in you; he starts to strike up small conversations whenever he can as well as numerous attempts to catch your eye at any meal time.
He starts to take up a lot of your time; sitting with you in the library on the rare occasion, but also joining you in class when the other Marauders are occupied with other pursuits.
It’s odd.
Muggle Studies remains one of the few lessons that hasn’t been interrupted with the growing number of soulmate matches in your year. Arguably, this school year could be the one with the most matches – the final year of Hogwarts; that final rush to find the love of your life before being sent out into the whole wizarding world without that safety net of the school to fall back onto.
The longer the professor drones on, the harder you find it to focus your concentration. The professor paces the front of the classroom, explaining their brief overview of what they hope the next few lessons will shape up to be like, but your attention is shot. It flickers between the marauder who has, for some reason, taken an interest in you and your soulmate, who still won’t reveal any more information about themselves or when you’ll be meeting.
A headache is close to blooming behind your eyes at the stress of it all.
Shrugging off your cardigan, you dip your quill into the pot of black ink sat in its holder. With the practiced precision of someone used to drawing on themselves, you begin to doodle.
Stars, planets, and moons appear on your left arm – decorating the inner forearm with an entire galaxy. They’re pretty rudimentary drawings, but it’s enough to keep you occupied from the droll being spewed by the professor who definitely hasn’t noticed they’ve lost the attention of most of the class.
The bell rings; finally signally the start of your only free period of the day. With a grateful sigh, you drop your books into your bag and make your way to the library.
You never make it to the library. On your way there, a hand grabs the back of your robes, pulling you into an empty corridor. With an angry shout, you face your kidnapper, “Sirius!”
He lets out an amused laugh at your affronted expression, “I’m sorry, I just needed to talk to you in private.”
You exhale, adjusting the heavy bag on your shoulder, “Sirius, I have to know. Why are you paying me so much attention? Surely you have a soulmate to think of.”
“That’s what I wanted to talk about.”
“Really?”
Sirius nods. He takes a deep breath before saying, “Compared to you: stars pale, and the moon dulls.”
“Are you quoting a film at me?” You ask; an eyebrow raised.
Sirius shakes his head, repressing a laugh. He rolls up the sleeve of his jumper, revealing his left arm to you where decorating his inner forearm are the very same stars, planets and moons that you had doodled instead of focusing on the classwork.
Instead of saying anything, you roll your own sleeve up, lining your arm up beside Sirius’ where the patterns match perfectly.
It seemed that his attempts at conversation and his watching you from a distance was for a purpose.
Sirius Black is your soulmate.
“Oh…” You whisper.
“I told you we would meet soon,” Sirius whispers; a sight teasing lilt to his voice.
You shake your head, “I kept thinking you didn’t want to meet me; that you didn’t want a soulmate.”
Sirius grips both of your hands, “The complete opposite. I just needed to work up the nerve to find you.”
“When did you know?”
“Not that long ago. When James and Lily got together.”
You nod your head; remembering the day well.
“I overheard you talking to your friend when I was on my way to a lesson and you kept talking about how your soulmate kept promising you soon. And I realised that that was all I was saying to mine. Soon.”
You look down at your joined hands, “I never even had an inkling it was you.”
Sirius chuckles, “I suppose that should be flattering. I must be that good at concealing information, I should be a spy.”
You roll your eyes, “It almost drove me mad is what you mean.”
“Well we have a long time to get to know each other now,” He murmurs; voice soft and filled with promise for the future.
You smile shyly at the long-haired teenager, “We do?”
He nods, “Yeah, we do.”
Tentatively, you take a step closer to the long-haired Marauder. A small smile graces Sirius’ face as he takes in your movement. With a tug of his hands, you fall into him – an arm clasping itself around your waist, pressing you to him.
Sirius’ hand caresses your cheek; you lean into the touch, wondering if this is how every match felt when they found their soulmate or whether this was entirely Sirius’ effect on you. Either way, it was addicting… and he hadn’t even kissed you yet.
Finally though, after what feels like a lifetime of staring into each other’s eyes, Sirius dips his head to kiss you. You meet him halfway; the desire you feel for him controlling your every move. His grip on your waist tightens and your arms wind their way around his neck, holding him to you. This kiss is what breaks the dam; from the lightest pressure of his lips, long buried emotions bubble up to the surface and it’s all you can do to keep yourself in control.
Sirius breaks the kiss, but he doesn’t retreat far. He beams down at you; eyes bright with elation. It’s a smile that you return and more; happy to have found your soulmate, happy to know who he is and that he loves you just as much as you love him.
Happy to know that soon is now.

add yourself to my taglist here!
After meeting through some mutual friends you fell in love with each other. Chris swore he would have married you after your first date. A ring came about a year and a half later, Chris not wanting to call you anything but his wife for any longer. One dream wedding and a month-long honeymoon around the world, you were Mrs. Y/N Evans.
The conversation about kids came fairly early in the relationship. Him coming from a big family, he wanted the same for himself. He wanted a big house in the Massachusetts suburbs, the white picket fence, a couple of dogs, and the kids. He wanted to come home from work being attacked by a couple of kids and seeing you walking towards him barefoot and pregnant.
You were an only child to divorced parents, growing up mostly on your own. You never saw yourself as a mom, but always loved the idea of running after a couple of kids. Never wanting to bring a child into the kind of world you grew up in. The sad and lonely kind of world you endured most of your life. After meeting his family after a couple of months of dating and seeing the way he interacted with his nieces and nephews, you couldn’t help but hope to see yourself raising some kids with him.
He loved the idea of raising a family with you.
Grayson Christopher Evans
You brought your first child into the world not too long after your wedding.
You were in labor for about 16 hours before you were met with the screams of a baby boy.
Your baby boy.
He cried and cried until his skin met yours, calming him down almost instantly. Looking over at Chris who was at an absolute loss for words at the little person calming himself with the sound of your heartbeat. He looked at you for a while before looking back at his baby boy.
Chris couldn’t quite process the feelings he felt that night his son was born. He knew how much he loved you. You knew how much you loved him. But having this little person as a tangible expression of your love and commitment for each other was just beyond him. It was beyond anyone.
Grayson was just like his dad. Almost an exact copy of him if you were being honest. The same big blue eyes. The same soft brown hair. The same everything. Lisa often said how much Grayson was just like Chris was when he was a kid. There was little of you visible in him. Maybe he had the curve of your nose and the shape of your lips. But he was all Chris.
His little personality bubbling since day one. You couldn't have asked for a more perfect baby. He giggled as much as he could and played until he fell asleep with a toy in his hand. You were so lucky to have been gifted this little boy as your first baby. Chris had been struggling to balance work and his responsibility to you and Grayson but never failed to make sure you knew how loved you both were, even from thousands of miles apart.
Eleanor Olivia Evans
After another long labor, you welcomed a little girl into your new family of 4. A tiny little girl who, just like your boy once did, calmed themselves down at the sound of your heart and the warmth from your body. Chris once again sat there just absolutely beside himself at the sight of the love of his life with his little girl on your chest.
Introducing Eleanor, or Ellie, to Grayson was probably one of the greatest moments of your life. Chris walked in with Grayson in his arms telling him that we needed to use our indoor voices when talking to mommy and the baby. Grayson quickly climbed to sit right next to you, not bearing even 1 day away from you. You hugged your little boy and talked to him about meeting his sister. Grayson ran his little hands running along Eleanor’s cheeks as you sat there crying at the moment they were having with each other.
Now with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old life couldn’t have been sweeter. You had hardly been working while pregnant with Ellie, still having to keep up with a rambunctious toddler. Before kids, you were doing some writing for all sorts of movies and TV shows. After kids, you took fewer jobs that require travel and stayed mostly local.
Chris not wanting to leave you at home with a toddler and a newborn had made sure his work kept him close or allowed you and the kids to go with him. You both wanted to make sure you were there when Grayson and Ellie needed you.
If Grayson was a mama’s boy, Ellie was 1000% a daddy’s girl. She refused to let Chris out of her sight if she could help it. She refused to sleep most nights without hearing the sound of her dad’s voice and would cry and cry if he didn’t sing her to sleep. When Chris was pulled away for a week for work you were losing your mind trying to get her to sleep.
After a mild breakdown, you gave in and called Chris knowing even hearing his voice over the phone would calm the baby down. He sat there on the phone and just talked to her. She fell asleep almost immediately and slept through most of the night. You thanked Chris and ended up asking him for voice recordings of him talking and singing so you could play them in case he was pulled away again.
Charlotte Rose Evans
Charlotte, or Charlie as she's been nicknamed by her siblings, came into the world with a crew waiting so patiently for her arrival. By far the most painful and complicated birth you have had, she had quite dramatically made her entrance into the Evans family.
You had been monitored closely the last couple of months of your pregnancy as Miss Charlie tried to make an appearance early. You had some complications about halfway through and your midwife had been worried about possible preterm labor. You had started to have what you knew were contractions at 30 weeks and were immediately rushed into the hospital to try and halt the contractions and luckily succeeding.
You were placed on strict bed rest for the remainder of your pregnancy, not even allowed to stand at the stove making dinner, only getting up to use the bathroom and move from the bed to the couch.
It didn’t make your life with an overactive 4 and 2-year-old easy at all. Chris stayed home 24/7 to take care of you and his mom and sisters rotating taking the time to stay with you to help with the kids.
When Charlie did make her debut both of you were as healthy as you could be. Once again, bringing Chris to tears as another baby made their way into your family. He didn’t know he was capable of loving this much. He thought he had reached capacity after Ellie but the love he had for you and his kids just kept growing as you kept adding on.
If Grayson was all Chris, Charlie was all you. Except for her blue eye, which you figured would be a pattern with your kids. She was a copy of you and Chris ate it up. Eleanor is a perfect combination of the two of you. You could see the traits of you as well as the traits of Chris throughout her. But Charlie was completely you.
Grayson fit right into his role as big brother and protector of the Evans girls. He made sure every night he said goodnight to his sisters and told them he loved them with a kiss on their foreheads.
Ellie was excited that she no longer had to share her dolls with Grayson and would finally have a girl to play with. Charlie looked up to her big sister, seeing her as the most amazing person she has ever met.
Grayson, however, felt like he needed another sibling, specifically a boy sibling, and constantly asked you for a brother. He said to you over and over again that his friends at school had brothers and he needed one so very bad. You and Chris had agreed to stop at 3 but had given into the idea of having 1 more to try and even out the numbers. With Grayson in 2nd grade, Ellie in kindergarten, and Charlie starting Pre-K soon, having another wouldn’t be impossible.
Declan Robert Evans
The 2nd boy and the 4th and final child Chris and Y/N had brought into their world. Another perfect mix of Chris and Y/N.
His birth being the last time you would be in the hospital having a baby made it just that more emotional. You soaked in the first moments of his life just a little bit more. Chris cried just a couple more tears, seeing that angel on your chest for the first time. You admired the father of your children just a little more seeing him introduce the addition to the family to your other kids. Adoring the look on Grayson’s face when you set Declan on his lap, finally meeting the little brother he’d been wanting. Asking you if he could take him to class to show off to all his friends.
Walking around your house Declan’s first day home was more emotional than you had thought it would be. You brought every single one of your babies right through your front door. You had pictures littered around the house of moments in your life you were lucky to have immortalized forever. Knowing you had started your family here made you love everything just that much more.
Declan now 5 years old, Charlotte 8 years old, Eleanor 10 years old and Grayson at 12 years old you couldn’t imagine life any differently. You and Chris celebrated 13 years of marriage and almost 15 years together surrounded by the physical representations of the love you two shared for each other was unexplainable.
You had slowly started to get back into the work you loved doing so much after Declan started school. You were able to work on projects offered to you with Chris and had become an unstoppable duo professionally and personally.
Even having the amazing opportunities to do something you loved to do, nothing would ever beat sitting around a table listening to your kids talk about everything and anything that came to mind. Listening to them talk about what happened at school or about upcoming events they want to participate in was the highlight of your day.
Grayson had been playing with a football the moment he could pick one up. Chris nearly cried when Grayson had approached you guys about doing little league football at the rec center. Chris had been watching Patriot's games with Grayson since the day he was born. Taking him to games with Scott whenever they had the chance. The love for football ran in his blood and when he found out he could play on a team he took the chance as soon as it presented himself.
Eleanor had found a love for music and performing, just like her dad. She had picked up music and singing at a very young age, which probably came from her dad's love of performing. You encouraged her to pursue her love for music by telling her stories of when her daddy was young and used to stand on stage before he started doing big movies. She loved looking at pictures and watching old videos of Chris performing in high school whenever she'd visit Grandma Lisa.
Charlotte had picked up your love of reading and writing as soon as she could. Her favorite day of the week is when her class gets to spend time at the library finding new things to read and learn about. So far a running theme with her is books about nature and animals. She loves sitting down with you in the afternoon and telling you about what she learned in the science portion of her day. She had learned about how plants and animals interact and how important they are for all humans. She told you that when she's big she wants to make sure no one ever hurts plants and animals since they are so important for us.
Declan hadn't quite developed a love for something like his siblings had. All he cares about right now is the kind of snacks his mom packs for him and superheroes. You and Chris had introduced him to the world of superheroes recently, knowing that being in school someone was bound to mention to him about seeing his dad on a movie they watched. He was obsessed with the fact that his dad was a superhero once upon a time. He loved watching Chris' movies and would always ask to watch them whenever Chris wasn't home.
You looked at Chris from across the table as Grayson talked to him about football tryouts and asking him if they could practice after dinner. He felt your eyes on him and looked at you with a smirk and a wink thrown at you before giving Grayson his attention again.
You sat back a little to look around at this family surrounding you, knowing there was nothing better than this.

Witcher Ranch AU
Geralt of Rivia/Yennefer of Vengerberg
Ciri, Vesemir, Eskel, Lambert, Jaskier
---
Geralt gazed upon the vast grassland that belonged to him - or the horses, as he would say. It had belonged to his father before he gifted him his inheritance early as a wedding gift.
Almost hidden by the bushes grazed some of the horses. He could see two heads of adult ones and one of a foal but only one of the adult heads was discernible. A white mare - Endrega, he was sure of it. What a beautiful one. Her fur glistered in the sun as fresh snow. Riding her canter felt as if riding a breeze.
The Morhen Ranch bred horses for some generations now. It was his life, the only one he knew. The only one he ever wanted to know.
“Hey,” his brother Eskel disturbed his thoughts, “think you can actually hold the post or do you want to keep looking at the horses and make your wife jealous?”
Geralt grunted and readjusted his grip. Eskel sighed and struck the hammer on the post.
“Thank you, Eskel.” said Geralt.
“No problem, it’s my job after all. If your son can’t even hold a post up I need to chime in!” teased Eskel his older brother. “Ah fuck you,” answered Geralt, “you know his mother wanted to show him something today.” They walked back to their horses and put the hammer, the old posts they had renewed now, planks and the nails back in the cart Eskel’s pinto was strapped to. Eskel’s wolfdog Bann waddled his tail, ready to run back to the farm.
“She did?” asked Eskel while mounting. Geralt went up to his riding horse Roach. Originally he wanted to name all horses Roach - followed by numbers. Several people intervened. The brown mare greeted him with a soft snort.
“Yeah, she took all of the kids with her after school. They’re riding to see a plant that only blooms for a few days a year.”
“Flowers?”
“Yup.”
“I don’t understand your wife.” Geralt squinted towards Eskel.
“Rarely anyone does.”
---
“Daddy!” a wall of shouts arrived Geralt as he came back from the field. Eskel had taken a turn to look for the chicken fence. Geralt almost didn’t manage to climb down from Roach before a wall of children hugged him. Well, apart from his oldest son, Eric, who had a phase of being too cool for his dad. He had his arms crossed, smiled nonetheless and stood close. It was understandable behaviour being 13 and all but Geralt couldn’t stop being a tad bit sad about it. At the same time he mirrored his mother so much. A gaze that could kill, hair as black as the night, his smile. Apart from that his stature was more like his. He’d grow up to be broad and tall, Geralt was sure of it. The second eldest, Leo was 11 and like a younger twin to his brother. It seemed like he’d grow even taller for he was about the height Eric had been a year ago. Casimir - their third son - just turned eight and currently wants to grow long hair which keeps getting into his face. Geralt kneeled down to pick up Roger, their youngest son at five who was born hunched and tried not to groan. Gwyn, their only daughter at age seven - and a mirror to her mother in all but character - took the chance of her dad kneeling and gave Geralt a peck on his cheek. She had made her brothers flower crowns which all of them - except Eric who had it bound to his belt - proudly wore. Gwyn handed her father one sheepishly. “I made you one too!” she exclaimed. Geralt happily tried to put it on but his daughter had over measured his head and it was more of a necklace. He beamed nonetheless and walked towards the main house, children following him. Eric ran behind after he finished unsaddling Roach and let her into the paddock.
Nearing the house, Geralt smelled stew and got excited. With his free hand he opened the door, put out his boots and walked towards the kitchen. “I’m home!” he exclaimed.
Two of the kids detached from him and ran towards the stew and the raven haired woman standing before the pot.
Yennefer turned around and greeted Geralt with a fleeting smile and a kiss. The kids all let an exasperated “Ew” be known.
She looked him up and down, noted his necklace and grinned wickedly, “Your daughter thinks you’re bigheaded.” she said. The kids took off around the kitchen and Roger wanted to be let down so Geralt kneeled again to put him back on his feet. Yennefer turned towards the stew. Geralt hugged her from behind.
“Wonder if her mother keeps telling her that.” he said. She let herself loose in his arms.
“Might be.” she closed her eyes for a second.
“How was the flower?” Geralt asked.
Yennefer chuckled. “The auraris scenoloptis? Beautiful. Our kids got distracted by wolfbanes, moleyarrows, blowballs and ginatias though.” she told him. Geralt looked down on his necklace, made up of those flowers. “Yeah, right.” he said.
“I’m drying some petals and hope I can use them for a salve soon. The fishmonger's daughter needs some help getting pregnant.” she explained.
“What’s so different to using white myrtle?” he asked.
“Well it’s more potent in its aphrodisiac agency and acts as a booster to the female cycle by activating-” she realised Geralt was more interested in sniffing her hair than letting her explain in detail, “- in other words you have a couple more fertile days.”
“We didn’t need that.” he added. She turned towards him.
“Be glad, could have been different in another life!”
---
Lambert had returned from the city. His carriage was full of groceries, metals, fabric and leather. Eskel helped him unpack. Eric and Leo joined while Casimir, Gwyn and Roger had disappeared in the stables. “Everyone’s buying stuff as if a plague’s coming.” Lambert exclaimed. “Well maybe some are blessed with prophetic dreams or just like to prepare for winter early, like we do.” Eskel answered. Eric and Leo carried a big package to their storage house. Lambert’s two wolfdogs and Eskel’s greeted each other and proceeded to run around the cart and ranch.
Vesemir joined the unpackers, “Like we do? Those kids would eat those horses up in two weeks if we won’t buy food!” and kneeled down to pick something up which stopped both Eskel and Lambert to shout “Stop it!” and basically rip what he tried to pick up from his hands.
“Stop it, old man, you know it’s not good for your back!” Lambert shouted again.
Geralt and Yennefer, hearing commotion, walked out and soon were greeted by this scene. Vesemir put himself back up and made a sour face.
Yennefer called out to him, “Come on and help me inside, Vesemir.” after that she greeted Lambert with a quick “Hello!” which he answered with a “Hey, Yennefer.” She turned to got back inside.
In passing Geralt who sped to help unload he murmured, “My own sons don’t think I can do anything anymore and my daughter-in-law just gives me one command after another. I am not inept, I’m just getting a bit old!” Geralt patted him on the back. Vesemir had not been as quiet as he thought since Lambert quickly added a “I’ll be damned if there is a person one day she doesn’t order around. So don’t feel bad about that part.” which handed him a grunt and a sour look from Geralt.
Lambert shrugged. “Don’t tell me it’s not true!”
Without a word, Eskel threw something heavy at their youngest brother for him to shut up. There was silence for a few seconds. The boys returned and began carrying another package towards the storage hut.
“How was the town?” asked Eskel.
“Good, hectic. People are going a bit crazy. Emreis bought the Cintraen Stables. Ran ‘em out of business I say. I mean, crazy coincidences - Calanthe and Eist died a few weeks ago. Pertussis they say. Their granddaughter is missing. I mean she has nowhere to go, no family left anyways. Wolves probably got her. Hm. Old hag apparantly died. Can’t say I miss ‘er, had a few debts. Ah, I managed to have two of our foals of next year reserved. An Craite wants one of Alps and Foltest wants either one of Kayran or Eredin - maybe even both he’s not sure. Ugh Friday, finally!” Lambert told his brothers.
“Calanthe and Eist died?” Geralt asked.
“Yeah, pertussis apparently. Emreis already had a signed contract weeks before but I still get why people are thinking it might have been on purpose. Even more so that Cirenella or whatever her name was ‘s missing. You’d think they’d have prepared for it.”
They hadn’t been friends but lived in silent respect as almost neighbours and hearing about the tragic story around Calanthe’s daughter and her young grandchild had been the topic of many conversations with Yennefer. She had often remarked whether or not Pavetta was actually Vesemir’s daughter as a joke since Geralt and Pavetta had shared the same white-colored hair. Since Pavetta’s daughter was born a bastard with no known father it had led to some distressing silence.
“Hm.”
---
After having everything from Lambert’s shopping trip stored and packed where it belonged, they ate. Having ten mouths to feed was not something Yennefer ever imagined to do but she did it with glee - and she didn’t have to do it daily since both Lambert and Vesemir loved to cook. Geralt was good at it but he would rather feed the horses daily than his children, to put it briefly. “Horses don’t play with their food.” he’d say to Yennefer as an excuse not to cook. “Well then I won’t play with your meat!” was the whispered reply that usually took great effect.
Lambert told tales of the city with his nephews and his niece hung on his lips while eating.
Geralt only scooped a few spoons in, his mind occupied with the child of Pavetta. Only Roger who had snuck in the pantry and stolen some sweet pie and therefore wasn’t quite as hungry as his siblings noted his father being absent and tried to smile at him. Yenenfer who kept an extra eye on her criminal son to check whether he was eating anything healthy at all thus noticed Geralt being absent minded. He felt her gaze and looked up towards her. They exchanged a few facial expressions as married folk tend to do and Yennefer understood he would come up to her with it in time but later.
Yennefer returned to give Roger a stern gaze and he hastily put another spoon full of stew into his mouth, then smiled, mouth full of stew at her.
---
Beer in hand, children in bed, freshly bathed Geralt stood next to the fireplace. Vesemir was dozing off in his rocking chair. His ale stood beside him on the ledge.
Roger had a phase of direly needing his mom to sleep and while Geralt had read them all a story it was Yennefer who was needed to hold Rogers hand until he slept right now. Sometimes she dozed off too and then came up later to the parlor.
Eskel and Lambert washed up, he could hear their voices softly getting to his ear. They would drink a quick beer together, then go to their houses. Eskel as the ranch’s smith above his furnace and Lambert next to the storage hut. Vesemir took turns sleeping at Eskel’s or in his house which was way smaller and originally planned as a guest house. On colder nights he stayed at Eskel’s.
Originally they had all slept in the main house but with one child after another place grew scarce soon. And then again Geralt and Yennefer were grateful for every bit of privacy.
Geralt was still recovering from a leg injury he got when taming last year's horses. He had taken the children with him. Leo and Casimir almost got in harm's way when they groomed an already tamed horse of theirs, Morvudd, and his wild horse almost crashed into the other one. Morvudd jumped and left space for the wild one to crash into Leo and Casimir so Geralt got it to turn again and crash into a splintered fence, causing his leg to cut open.
The children had been horrified of course. Eric and Leo quickly ran back home to get help from their mother. It was resolved rather fast but since then his leg wasn’t healed completely and his duties on the ranch got split and taken over by his family.
After a while Eskel and Lambert came into the parlor and laughed at their sleeping father “No, I am not getting old.” Lambert mimicked his tone of speech and they all chuckled. They drank their beer and then wished each other good night. Eskel woke Vesemir and they left together. Geralt sat down into the rocking chair when he heard steps coming downstairs.
“Look who’s still awake.” he said with a low voice.
“Ha-ha.” Yennefer fake laughed. “Your son was scared you’re still hurting and cannot eat because of this.” she explained and then yawned.
She sat on his lap, carefully avoiding his hurt leg and began stroking his beard. No words were needed, no further inquiring.
“Lambert told us about Calanthe and Eist dying.” he began. He began caressing her back.
“Cintrean Stables?” she asked while closing her eyes. He nodded. “Yes, he said Emreis bought it. Didn’t mention they died though. What about -” he cut her off.
“Went missing, he said. She has no family left. She’s probably just a thorn in Emreis’ eyes.” Geralt added. Yennefer turned to look at him. “You...?”
He shrugged, “I don’t know do you…?”
She smiled, “What’s one mouth more to feed?”
One moment in silence then they started giggling. “Oh, Eric’s not gonna like this.”
Geralt looked towards the fire, sad about this prospect. Yennefer turned her body more towards him. “Hey. He’s having a phase. Just like Roger who needs me to sleep right now because he thinks if I am not there monsters will come. Eric is in a phase where he thinks he doesn’t need his dad and can protect himself from all the monsters in the world. The boys in school teased him because he told so much about you in school and then you got hurt even though being immortal according to Eric, the teacher told me.”
“Oh.” Geralt’s eyes widened.
“Geralt, it’s not your fault.” Yennefer tried to reassure him. “It’s a phase. He will get over it soon enough and then it’ll be me he hates. He’s starting puberty. It’s gonna be - fun.”
“Fun.” Geralt repeated.
“I need to convince myself or else I am gonna get crazy. We really had five children in eight years which means that they’re gonna be pubescent at the same time at one point.”
They both stared into the fire.
“It’s gonna be six children, Yen.” Geralt remarked. Yennefer smiled, then her gaze saddened. “We’re gonna have to find her first.”
---
They were awoken by a loud stomps on the stairways and shrieks of playing fetch. Yennefer went from sleeping to a commanding tone in mere seconds. “No running on the stairs!” she shouted, silence followed, quickly to be exchanged with a trail of steps running towards the two of them who had slept on the rocking chair, covered in fur and a quilt.
“Mommy! Daddy! Good morning!” they exclaimed and threw a ball between them. A game Geralt didn’t get the rules of. “We don’t have to get the rules,” Yennefer once explained to him, “what’s important is a) that they’re playing at all b) they are playing together and c) they’re letting us be for five minutes”.
They got forehead kisses from their parents - even Eric who Geralt just grabbed and pulled towards him. Yennefer saw Eric smile afterwards and was reassured he just had a phase.
Breakfast was bread with cold meat and jam. And telling their children about the plan of adopting another child.
“She doesn’t have a family anymore - do you guys think we could be that for her?” Yennefer asked the children.
“But who is gonna protect her if Daddy’s away? I already have to protect all of them. And you!” Eric got worked up.
“First of all, I am perfectly capable of protecting myself and you,” Yennefer got serious, “second of all, your father has a job that means he has to stay with the herds several nights in a row. It’s not as if he’s gone forever or will leave forever. He’s never going alone and won’t ever go alone. And third of all, we are fine. I know you hear a lot of the jokes Lambert makes about you guys eating everything up one day but no it’s not the truth. We have enough for all. Hell, we would have enough if Lambert and Eskel finally got a -”
Geralt stopped Yennefer. “I think it’s okay now, Yen.”
Eric looked a bit beat down and angry at the same time, Geralt wondered why he hadn’t left yet but he guessed Eric was too proud for that.
“Hey buddy,” Geralt started, “I know you’re feeling a bit like I am not your friend anymore these days but I am. I don’t know what I did to make you feel this way but this is between us and shouldn’t -”
“Yeah yeah I know. Just keep on getting more children like I am not enough!” Eric stormed off, closing the door behind him by smashing it. Yennefer looked as shocked as rarely ever before.
Eskel peeked into the parlor. “Your son just crashed into me and then ran off? Are you alright -” he saw Yennefer's expression, Geralt being quite unhappy and the other children mildly confused. “Okay. I guess not. Uh. I will look for Lambert.” he left again.
Leo, after holding a “conference” with his siblings and being the eldest with Eric’s vanishing, told his parents that they were alright with another sister, should she “wish to join, be okay to make flower crowns, race towards the forest and back, accept the rules of ball-throw-game” and, most importantly the task they all hated but someone had to do “help folding bed sheets” which had Yennefer and Geralt fall out of their moment of shock and return to smiling. “Sure. We will present her with your demands.” Geralt told his son.
---
“Are you sure you won’t rather take the carriage?” Yennefer asked as Geralt mounted Roach. Vesemir already sat on his horse, a white gelding.
“Yes, Yen. We will be faster that way. She is alone out there and every minute might count.”
“I just worry-” Yennefer got interrupted by Vesemir: “His leg won’t fall off and I may be older than you all but I can ride a horse faster than you all can. Now stop being cheesy and give him a goodbye kiss.”
Yennefer did, presented Vesemir with a stern gaze and then waved them goodbye with the children, up until they got bored doing so.
Geralt and Vesemir took on a quick trot and reached the town soon after high noon. The town hall delivered a quick message in the form of Julian Alfred Pankratz alias Jaskier, one of the council members. “Geralt! Vesemir!” he exclaimed , “it is nice seeing you here!”. He came closer, leaving a waiting and now angry couple waiting for their meeting behind. “How is your leg? How are your children? How is… the witch doing?” Vesemir laughed at that last remark. “How are you, old man?” he asked Vesemir who visibly didn’t like being called ‘old man’. Geralt smirked at that, had he been okay with his wife getting insulted seconds before.
“Getting better each day, getting bigger each day, getting more beautiful each day.” Geralt answered. Jaskier shrugged. “Wow I really need to visit again.” he said.
“Yes, they miss their uncle.” said Vesemir. “And to be frank we could use a day of singing again.” Jaskier beamed.
“We’re here because of Pavetta’s child though.” Geralt chimed in.
“Who?” asked Jaskier.
“You know the child of surprise.”
“Ah. Sure. What a tragic story, isn’t it? I really need to make it a song. ‘Last flower of Cintra’, maybe? Hm. Sounds too floral. Lion? They had lion decor. But they still were a ranch. Rose? Yeah yeah sounds better. What are the odds of both grandparents dying mere days from each other?”
“Jaskier.” Geralt cut his evasions short.
“Right. Cirilla. What about her?”
“Lambert said she went missing and doesn’t have a family.” Geralt explained.
“Well at least the family part is true.” Jaskier said.
“What do you mean?”
“She doesn’t have any further family. Well except - surprisingly - a father should surface,” he noticed Geralt's stern look, “but no she doesn’t have any living family and no one willing or possible to take her. Alas she is not missing - okay yes she went missing for a quick moment but was quickly found and lives with the teacher for now.”
“Oh.” Vesemir and Geralt shared a look. They both were glad she was sfe for now.
“We spoke about maybe taking her in,” Geralt stated, “can I meet her?”
“Sure,” said Jaskier, “just maybe bring Yennefer next time. The council decided we would only let someone take her in after both had met them. You know it didn’t go well with the Jaromir boy last time and now he’s living on Emrais Ranch getting fed lies about how inept we are. And Emrais hasn’t even adopted him. I think it’s a bunch of kids just living off the ranch’s supplies.” Geralt wasn’t so sure that was the whole truth but he didn’t care.
“I think it’s best we ride back, Geralt. You and Yennefer can still ride back here today and meet her then. It’s no use going there alone. You shouldn’t make the decision yourself anyways. Would have been different if she still ran around in the forest.” Vesemir opined. Jaskier nodded consensual. “Yes I won’t be here for long anymore but you know where to meet me. I will have the papers ready should you decide to take her in.”
---
Yennefer and Geralt rode as fast as the wind. Her black stallion was called Aretuza and one of the fastest in the bunch. Roach had been tired out so he took Plotka, another brown mare.
“Remember when we got married in the town?” Yennefer smiled.
“Barely.” Geralt answered. Yennefer's smile vanished.
“You’re teasing me!” she turned sour. Geralt’s eyes widened in glee.
“Yen, I am just reminding you of the time you told me you were pregnant.”
“Oh,” she laughed, “I remember, you didn’t recall our wedding at first. To be fair they had you quite… drunk at the end of the night.”
The conversation had been barely a week after their wedding. Istredd, a study friend of Yennefer who didn’t make it to the wedding, congratulated them and then, after winking at both of them for seeing Yennefer's situation, asked whether they had chosen a name already. After he left Geralt asked her for what he congratulated. She had told him that they had wed which got Geralt confused.
“I wore white and had flowers? All our friends and family were there? You wore a dress shirt? You said ‘I do!’?”
His answer back then didn’t stem from being reluctant rather than actually not knowing what had been going on. “How was I even supposed to know? You always smell of lilac, wear white, black or black and white - also I still can’t believe any day I wear those horrible fancy clothes is a chance you take? I honestly thought it was a normal sunday. I mean okay, the drinking got out of hand but it happens, right?”
“Please tell me you at least remember what we need a name for?” Yennefer had asked, getting aggravated. His eyes had grown even more panicked.
“A horse?” Geralt had asked, confused.
“I’m seven months pregnant, Geralt.”
“Fuck.” Anxiety over having an unwanted child had now grabbed Yennefer. “We don’t have a name,” He took her into a deep hug and then started kissing her, “But well we have about two months, still.” Between her tears, Yennefer still had managed to laugh.
“I still can’t believe I forgot most of our wedding. It sucks to be honest.”
“At least you feel bad about it,” Yennefer said, “and I am so glad you didn’t suggest ‘Roach’ as a name in that moment. We wouldn’t have made a week of marriage.”
“I know.” he answered.
It was late afternoon when they rode into the town. Jaskier told Geralt he would alert the teacher of the situation and he would expect them at their home. The teachers house was small by comparison to the ranch but right next to the school which had its own advantages. They knocked on the door and were greeted by the teacher's wife and one of their children.
“Ah, Geralt and Yennefer. Come in!” she said and made room. As they walked in she asked a lot of questions about the room size for the children, how old they were, whether they were healthy. Geralt made some remarks about the size of the ranch to make known that some worth lied there. The teacher’s wife openend the door to the parlor where the teacher sat with Cirilla and one of their children. Cirilla looked about eight, was dressed in a blue dress and had white hair. Yennefer and Geralt exchanged a look and almost began to laugh. At first sight she looked more like his child than any of his did. Cirilla locked eyes with them and after everyone greeted each other and Geralt and Yennefer told her who they were she greeted them with: “I am Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon but you can call me Ciri. Will you take me with you now?”
She stood before them smiling sheepishly. “We could if you want to? We have a ranch with horses.” Geralt told her.
“And we have five children.” Yennefer added, asking herself why he always had to mention the horses before his children.
Ciri nodded.“Yes Jaskier has already told me about all that. Mr. Teacher has already explained to me that I cannot stay here.” she told them.
“I think we’re settled then? I am sure you will love our home.” Yennefer said, beaming while doing so. Ciri seemed to warm up quickly and they hoped it wouldn’t stop once meeting the wall of children they had at home. Her bag was packed quickly since she didn’t have a lot of stuff. Most important was the stuffed lion her grandmother gifted her which she held firmly.
“Can I ride with you?” she asked Geralt.
“Sure.” he smiled as he answered and promptly placed her on Roach who whinnied.
They talked about some basic stuff on the way back home. Her favorite food, color, animal. Stuff to get to know her and ease her into a situation she seemed to accept rather quickly.
---
Back on the Ranch they were greeted by all of them including the dogs standing together and waving. Geralt and Yennefer stopped their horses and got down. The children came nearer but were pretty shy. Eric stood before his siblings and greeted Ciri first. “Hey Ciri, I am Eric.” he said. Lambert and Eskel fist bumped which meant they prepared him for this moment. Geralt gave them a quick thumbs up. Everyone greeted Ciri who stood next to a squatting Yennefer. Ciri whispered in her ear “How am I supposed to remember all of those names?” Yennefer giggled once, then said “Don’t worry you can always ask, we won’t bite.”
Ciri nodded, still a bit unsure of the situation.
Lambert exclaimed: “Who’s hungry? I cooked.”
Geralt then noticed he hadn't eaten all day. His stomach growled, “I am hungry.” he said just as Ciri bravely expressed her hunger as well.
“Follow me!” said Lambert and the whole bunch followed him put.
Vesemir walked up to Geralt. “Sure it wasn’t you that got Pavetta pregnant?”
In another life, Yennefer's anger could kill people as easily as a storm. We’re glad it’s not this.

Episode 3.5: Sister Talk
March 30, 2013
Ellie sat on the leather sofa in the basement of the main house as she waited for the video call to connect. She hadn’t intended on telling Chris about her biweekly video chats with her three sisters, but as she stared at his big screen TV she was super glad she had, because he had shown her how to do video call on it.
The last video chat she’d had with all three of her sisters had been a couple days before her first meeting with Chris and she hadn’t told them anything about her new job or living situation just in case the whole thing fell through. Even now that everything was official, she was still a bit nervous about telling her sisters.
Eyes focused on the TV screen, Ellie grinned the second her sisters’ faces appeared in their separate boxes. She waved at them and greeted them each by name.
“Syd!” or Sydney was her oldest sister at 30 years of age. She was married to the best brother-in-law a girl could ask for, Garrett, and they lived in Seattle, Washington. They were also the parents to Ellie’s nephew, Noah, who was five years old and her niece, Chloe, who was three years old.
“Izzy!” or Isabelle was Ellie’s second youngest sister and her best friend in the entire world. Just under three years separated 27 (almost 28) year old Ellie and 25 year old Izzy, which meant they had been close. Unlike the other three girls, Izzy had blond hair like their mother’s side of the family while the other three took after their father’s side. LIke Ellie, Izzy also lived in California, but in the Bay Area where she’d recently graduated from law school. Now she and her boyfriend, Eric Montgomery, were both looking for jobs.
“Riley!” was the youngest of the four girls and was constantly updating her Twitter account with a countdown to her 21st Birthday (124 days). Growing up, she’d followed Ellie and Izzy around, doing whatever they told her to, until she got tired of being bossed around. She then became the teenager that tested their parents’ patience the most. Unlike her three older sisters, who’d gone straight from high school to college, she had taken a couple years off school off and therefore was only a sophomore instead of a senior.
Ellie hadn’t realized how lonely being in the main house and guest house had been after Chris and his mom had left until she was listening to her sisters as they shared the latest news and a little bit of gossip. She still had her job at the bookstore, but it still didn’t make up for the fact that she was coming home to an empty house all the time.
She laughed along with her sisters as they each shared amusing stories, trying to out do each other. It had been Sydney’s tale about her daughter’s ballet recital which had ended with a mouse running across the stage followed by the ballet teacher holding a broom, that had brought tears to their eyes.
Brushing tears from her cheeks, Ellie looked at the screen and knew her time had come when she saw Izzy giving her a suspicious look.
“You’ve been awful quiet tonight,” Izzy said. “And where are you? I can tell you’re not at Aunt Deena’s house because of the white wall behind you, I don’t think there is a single white wall in her house”
“Yeah, about that,” Ellie said, slowly. “I got a job.”
“What?”
“Where?”
“When?”
“Why didn’t you tell us sooner?”
Ellie snicked as her sisters’ questions overlapped each other. She was still nervous about telling them, but she knew she had to. They’d find out soon enough.
“I’m still working at the bookstore,” she told them. “But I’m also working as a housekeeper slash housesitter for the son of someone I met at the store.”
She could tell by the look on Sydney’s face that she wasn’t impressed with the new job and she was pretty sure that Riley was painting her fingernails.
Nervous about how to address the big part of the new job, Ellie chewed on her lower lip.
“You’re not telling us something,” the ever observant Izzy stated. “You only chew on your lower lip like that when you’re not sure what to say.” She leaned in closer to her camera. “What aren’t you telling us Sarah Elaine?”
“My boss is Chris Evans,” Ellie said after waiting an extra moment. “And not the British one.”
“Who?” Sydney asked as Izzy and Riley just stared at their computer screens in shock.
“He plays Captain America in the Marvel movies,” Ellie explained to her older sister.
“And he is fucking hot!” Izzy exclaimed. “I don’t even like superhero stuff, but I dragged Eric to the theater to see that first Captain America movie.”
“Is he really that buff in real life?” Riley asked.
Ellie felt her face flush and heard Izzy gasp.
“OH MY GOD! YOU’VE SEEN HIM NAKED!” her sister shouted through the TV.
Ellie felt her face turn an even brighter shade of red, meaning there was no way she could deny that she had in fact seen Chris completely naked.
“It was an accident,” she said when Izzy finally quieted down. “His mom hired me and he got home earlier than she’d expected and she hadn’t warned him that I was there. So there I was, cleaning the kitchen floor and I turn around and there he is, standing completely naked in the doorway to the kitchen.”
“You saw him naked?!” Sydney said in a delayed response. “Sorry, I had to look him up. I think Garrett has some of those movies, I might need to watch them.”
“Yes, she saw him naked,” Riley replied. “But we haven’t asked her the important question yet.”
As Ellie watched, matching smirks appeared on her sisters’ faces and she knew exactly what they wanted to know: just what was he hiding under his clothes.
She’d known who Chris was before even met Lisa, but she hadn’t known that Lisa was Chris’ mom until she’d taken the job. So she had known what she was getting herself into, she’d seen his movie “What’s Your Number?” and there hadn’t been much to imagine after the scene with the towel and the apple, but seeing it on a TV screen with her sister Izzy was nothing like having the real, naked man right in front of her.
It didn’t take much effort for Ellie to recall the scene from the morning she and Chris had met. His hair had been longer than normal and his beard had been shaggier than she’d seen in promotional photographs, but given that he’d just spent two weeks in hibernation, it had made sense. There had been hair on his chest as well, the perfect amount in her opinion.
“WELL?!” Izzy demanded interrupting her thoughts.
Ellie kept them waiting a moment longer as she remembered that particular part of Chris’s anatomy that had been the first point of contact that her eyes had settled upon that morning: the beautiful, err manly, organ in between his thick thighs. She wasn’t an expert, though hardly a novice, when it came to penises, but Chris’s had certainly looked better than those of her ex boyfriends. Better taken care of, that was for sure, especially when it had come to the small tuft of hair at the base.
Then there had been the penis itself. It had been a good length; not too short where you’d be crossing your fingers praying he was a grower not a shower, but not too long where you’d be afraid of it getting longer and damaging your lady parts. She’d only seen him straight on, so she hadn’t been able to tell exactly how thick he was, but he hadn’t been pencil thin, that was for sure. And from where she’d been sitting on the floor, his balls had looked healthy, too.
“SARAH ELAINE!” Riley shouted at the screen.
Ellie smiled and then calmly said, “He’s my boss, so I’ll just keep it simple. There is not a single thing about him to complain about.”
Her sisters laughed and Izzy let out of whistle.
“Fuck, the girls’ on my floor are planning to watch ‘What’s Your Number?’ tomorrow night,” Riley said with a groan. “Now I’m going to have to sit there knowing that my sister knows exactly what he has going on behind that towel!”
“You guys can’t say anything to anyone about this,” Ellie said, seriously. “You three, me, his mom and him are the only ones that know.”
“Wait, how does his mom know?” Sydney asked.
“You know how I mentioned he got home earlier than planned?” Ellie said. “Well he was doing the Full Monty in the kitchen when his mom got to his place. She found us in the kitchen, me still on my knees on one side of the room and Chris trying to cover himself with a roll of paper towels. She sent him upstairs to get dressed and I thought she was going to fire me, but she just laughed!”
She couldn’t help join her sisters as they laughed over the awkward situation.
“So other than being a complete God physically, what’s he like?” Izzy asked her.
“I haven’t gotten to spend much time with him,” Ellie shrugged. “He was here for a week and then he was off to film a new movie.”
“So there were no sparks?” Sydney asked.
“Sparks? You mean romantically?” Ellie replied, staring at her older sister in surprise. “I just met the guy and he is my boss.”
“You took five minutes to answer the question about whether his penis lived up to the rest of his God-like stature,” Riley pointed out with a smug grin.
“It’s called suspense,” Ellie replied. “I had information you wanted and I’ve always loved holding that over your head.” She rolled her eyes. “Besides, Chris is a celebrity. He isn’t going to date, let alone sleep with, his housekeeper, especially not one hand picked by his mom.”
“Ellie, you’re worth more than any celebrity out there,” Sydney said with a smile. “If Chris can’t see that then you don’t need him.”
“And if he can see that then you need to get with him,” Izzy added with a smirk. “And then tell us all about the motion in his ocean!”
“Every single detail,” Riley agreed.
“Oh, is that a thing now?” Sydney asked, pulling the attention of her two youngest sisters. “If so, then we have a lot of catching up to do about Garrett. Let me tell you, my husband can -“
“Oh look at the time!” Izzy exclaimed while Riley covered her ears and loudly sang, “La la la la.”
Sydney winked at Ellie and then said, “Well I have little monsters to put to bed. And the night is still young for you three, go have some fun.”
“Night Syd,” the other three chorused.
Sydney waved and then disappeared from the video chat.
“I should probably finish writing the essay that I have due tomorrow,” Riley said with a frown. “Either of you know anything about music theory?” Ellie and Izzy shook their heads. “I figured as much. Night guys.”
“So, when can I come for a visit?” Izzy asked with a smile once it was just her and Ellie.
“I don’t know if I can have visitors,” Ellie replied. “Especially overnight, freeloading sisters.”
“Well ask your hunky boss and let me know,” Izzy said before redirecting her attention to something off camera. “Alright, Eric just decided he’s hungry, so we’re going to go get food.”
“Later,” Ellie replied. She turned off the video chat and reset the TV to its proper settings. Then she went upstairs and made sure the big house was locked up for the night before retiring to the cozy, studio apartment-like guesthouse she called home.

Note
1, 7, 8, 11, 12, 23, 24, 26 for Eliot and Beatrice.
Tumblr media
Thank you!!
1. Their age?
- Eliot is 25 in Far Cry 5, and 42 during the events of New Dawn!
- Beatrice is 26.
7. Their date of birth?
- Eliot was born in Three Forks, Montana on the 4th May 1993.
 - Beatrice was born on the 17th of February 1873.
8.  What clothing style?
- Eliot has a very casual, loose clothing style when not wearing his uniform. He’ll just stick to shirts and jackets, with a pair of simple jeans, and durable trainers or hiking boots (really depends on where he is).
- Beatrice has a very modest style of clothing when she first comes to the gang. Very high-quality dresses and skirts, high-necked blouses. She always looked very prim and proper when she first fell in with them, but once she became more settled in, she was able to let herself go a bit more. To be more comfortable she bought herself a few pairs of trousers and belts, as well as some new skirts.
11.  What happens in the ‘honeymoon phase’ for this character?
- With Eliot the honeymoon phase would involve a lot of lazy days at home, spending much of the morning in bed just enjoying each other’s company, and then doing whatever his partner wants to do during the day. After that, it’s back home for a delicious hearty meal, and lounging around the house watching a movie or binging on a boxset. Very affectionate during this time, lots of lingering touches and kisses.
- For Beatrice, it would involve spending a lot of time with her partner as well. Sitting and talking to them, going for short walks, holding hands at pretty much every spare moment.
12.  How many serious relationships have they been in?
- Other than Jess, I’d say there were probably like three others. There was his childhood girlfriend, who he dated through much of high school up until he was due to leave for college, and then two college romances too, neither of which lasted many months. Other than that, Eliot has been in very brief, casual relationships and hookups.
- Before Charles, Beatrice was married for a few years. She had never been in a relationship prior to that but had crushed on a few men in her the nearby town growing up.
23.  How big is their family?
- Eliot came from a reasonably average sized family I’d say...discounting his cousins of course! As well as his parents, David and Maggie, he has one older brother, a younger sister, a sister-in-law, and a niece who he adores. And in the New Dawn timeline, he gains an adopted nephew in Blake.
- Beatrice was the fourthborn child out of five. She has two elder half-brothers and two full-blooded siblings. As one of the quieter children, she was often getting forgotten in favour of her more loud and rambunctious elder siblings. That’s not to say she wasn’t just as loved though! By the time of main events in the game, she has a number of nieces and nephews too!
24.  Are they close to anyone specific in the family?
- Eliot’s closest with Lori for sure. There are only 13 months between them so they grew up very close together, as opposed to Vic who was eight at the time of Eliot’s birth and closer to ten when Lori was born.
- Beatrice is closest to her eldest brother and her only sister. Although both older than her (and in the brother’s case he was also her half-sibling) they both looked after her a lot in addition to their parents. Her sister would let her borrow some of her old dresses and shoes, and her brother would sometimes sneak her little treats like hard candies and books.
26.  Are they an emotional person?
- In a way, I guess Eliot is. He’s not afraid to cry or get mad at things, but he does have an issue with actually sharing his emotions with others at times in an effort to spare their feelings.
- Beatrice is a very emotional person! She’ll cry at pretty much anything, and when she first joined the gang had a tendency to get flustered pretty easily.

Cravings Sequel (Jason Todd x Reader)
Description: Jason is on a mission, the reader is about to have twins and the only people available to be by her side are Damian and Jon, the SuperSons.
This was so requested and I Ioooved writing it. I couldn’t stop, there are over 2000 words. I was already writing it when people started to request it, so I didn’t changed anything, sorry. I hope you won’t get bored and that you will enjoy it!
Words: 2420
Part 1. Part 2.
‘‘So why aren’t you allowed on patrol?’‘ Damian was sitting next to you on the couch, with a very annoyed look on his face. And not because of you, because Bruce went on a mission with Jason, Dick, even Tim, without him.
‘‘Apparently, I am not allowed to punch a child with handicap.’‘ He said, not taking his eyes from the TV. ‘‘Is the child with handicap Tim?’‘ He nodded. ‘‘Oh, Damian.’‘ You laughed, watching Damian who had a smirk on his face.
‘‘I guess it’s my fault that you are here, not Tim’s.’’ He turned around, looking at you, making you sigh. ‘‘The doctor told us that the babies will be here soon, so Jason didn’t wanted to leave me alone under any circumstances. I knew this mission was important so I told he can go, I can take care of myself, the babies are not coming tonight anyway. He told me he will go only if I stay at the Manor so I guess that’s the reason Bruce punished you.’‘
‘‘Yes, I am aware of that. I did worse to Drake than punching him and I wasn’t punished before.’‘
‘‘You are not upset?’‘ You asked confused, knowing how much Damian enjoys going on missions.
‘‘No. I’d rather spend time with a person that shares the interest in some things than Drake.’‘ Your eyes were quickly watery. ‘‘I’m sorry, the hormones.’‘ But there were no hormones. Almost four months ago you meet Damian for the first time, and since then he really grew on you. He loved animals as much as you did, he even came with you every time you went to the shelter you were volunteering at.
Even though everyone saw Damian as a brat, you saw him as a really sweet and caring boy with a golden attitude.
‘‘That’s so sweet, Damian.’‘ You said, wiping away the tears from your eyes. ‘‘Master Jonathan is here.’‘ Alfred came in the living room, with Jon by his side. ‘‘Oh, great!’‘ The 13 years old said, with a very unpleasant look on his face.
But you? You loved Jon. He is like a sweet innocent cinnamon roll in your eyes. You never told anyone but you really wish your son to be like Jon when he grows up.
‘‘[Y/N]!’‘ Jon wrapped his arms around you, holing you tight into a hug. ‘‘How are you? How are the babies?’‘ It was a little weird, you know this people only for four months know but they are like a family to you.
‘‘They are doing pretty good, punching me in the stomach everyday like I don’t feel pain.’‘ You laughed sarcastic. ‘‘How are you? How are your parents?’‘
‘‘Mom is in Asia with her job and dad is with Batman in Central City. He didn’t let me go with him and Batman suggested that I should come here, so here I am. I am so happy to see you!’‘
‘‘Me too, Jon! Do you want to watch a really boring movie with us?’‘
‘‘That would be fun.’‘ He laughed and Damian rolled his eyes, probably trying to abstain himself from saying something rude. The last time you almost begged him to be more nice with Jon.
‘’Miss [Y/N], I must go out for a couple hours, if anything happens just call me, I’ll be right back.’’ You nodded. ‘’Let’s change the movie, guys, this is to boring.’’ You said after 15 minutes. ‘’First, let’s make more popcorn.’’ You approved.
Jon and you went into the kitchen, followed by Damian, who just wanted to make sure you two don’t set something on fire. And for a moment you thought you were the adult in the house.
‘‘Everyone knows how to make popcorn. You just need to put it in the microwave.’‘ Jon said really sure on himself. ‘‘Yes, but if you don’t chose the right time it might blow up. I’ll do it.’‘
‘‘No!’‘ Jon protested and they started to fight. You wanted to stop them, but you felt your muscles from your lower part shortening and tightening, making you feel like someone was stabbing you over and over again. ‘‘Guys…’‘ You put one hand on your stomach while with the other you were trying to support yourself by holding the kitchen table.
Damian and Jon were to busy fighting, but when you screamed because of the pain, they both looked at you confused. ‘’Are you okay, [Y/N]?’’ Jon asked worried. ‘’It just….it hurts so bad.’’ Damian put his hand around your waist, making sure you aren’t going to fall.
‘‘I just need to lay down.’‘ You said, feeling how the pain started to go away. Only to come back a few seconds after. ‘’Give me the phone, please, I have to call the doctor.’’ You tried to call him for five minutes, but no answer. ‘’Motherfucker.’’ You whispered, calling him again. ‘’Glad you finally answered, I am definitely not dying!’’ You screamed when he finally answered.
‘‘Are you having contractions?’‘ He asked, not surprised. ‘‘For the past 7 minutes and it’s getting worse.’‘
‘‘Can you come to the hospital or do you want me to send an ambulance? The babies are coming, I’ll be waiting for you here.’‘
‘‘I don’t need a fucking ambulance.’‘ You screamed, hanging up. ‘‘Shit! How the fuck I get to the hospital now? I can’t drive, I’ll kill 20 people and probably my babies too.’‘ You panicked as the pain was getting worse.
‘‘I’ll drive. Let’s go!’‘ You didn’t knew that Damian really knows how to drive, and the fact that you arrived at the hospital in just five minutes without killing anyone really surprised you.
The man who has been your doctor for the past 8 months was waiting for you as he said on the phone. There was a nurse who helped you change and the boys who only let you alone for a minute while you were changing.
‘’Where is my phone? I have to call Jason.’‘ You asked and the boys looked at each other. ‘‘I don’t have it.’‘ Both said in the same time. ‘‘Then give me your phone.’‘
‘‘I am not allowed to have one. I’m only 10.’’
‘‘I don’t need a phone.’‘
‘‘Are you fucking kidding me?’‘ You screamed, and the nurse quickly looked for her phone in her pockets. ‘‘Here, use mine.’‘ She gave you her phone, not because she wanted to be kind, she just wanted you to shut up.
You dialed his number, hoping that he will answer. ‘’Motherfucker, why the hell he doesn’t pick up? I swear to God when I see him I am going to…Never mind, the number is wrong, ups, my bad.’’
This time you reread the number three times, to make sure you got it right. ‘’Babe?’’ You said when you heard Jason breathing on the other line. ‘’Babe, is something wrong?’’ He asked, knowing that you wouldn’t call him on a mission, only if it was important. ‘’The babies are coming. I’m at the hospital.’’
‘‘Shit, babe, now?!’‘  For a moment you thought this was a bad idea, maybe you shouldn’t called him, now he is panicked and won’t be focused with the mission. But you knew that if you didn’t called him he would be really angry and upset. ‘‘Pretty much. I’m in labor. The nurse said I’m only at 5 cm and it might take a while.’‘ You tried to stay focused, ignoring the pain, when all you wanted to do was scream and kill everyone.
‘‘Look, I’ll be there as soon as I can, I promise!’‘ You bit your lower lip. ‘‘Okay.’‘ You whispered. ‘‘I’m with Damian and Jon, I’ll call Alfred. Shit! It hurts so bad. Be careful, okay?’‘ Your voice cracked and you tried to not cry. ‘‘I love you, babe! I’ll be there, I promise.’‘
‘‘I love you too.’‘ You knew that Jason was freaking out right now, Central City wasn’t that close to Gotham and he didn’t wanted to miss it.
At first, he thought that filming the birth of your children it was pretty weird, but as the time passed he decided that it’s actually a great idea. He even bought a camera special for that. ‘‘So we can torture them when they grow up.’‘
The nurse looked at you worried, leaving the room in a hurry. ‘’What is going on?’’ You asked confused, but the boys were as confused as you were. She came back with the doctor, now they both had the same look on their faces.
‘‘Look, [Y/N], one of the babies doesn’t get oxygen as it should, we have to do a C-section now.’‘ In that moment you felt like the sky fell on Earth, you couldn’t lose one of your babies. ‘‘I did it a thousands time. I promise, everything is going to be fine.’‘ He continued, when he saw you looking at him with horror.
‘‘I can’t do this alone. I…I can’t…I need Jason. Where is Jason?’‘ You felt like you couldn’t breath, like someone was slowly taking away your oxygen. ‘‘[Y/N], it’s okay!’‘ Damian took your face in his face, trying to make eye contact. ‘‘I am here, Jon is here, Alfred it’s on his way, you are not alone.’‘
‘’He wanted to film it. Jason. He wanted to torture our children when they grow up.’‘ Tears were running on your face, while your body was shaking. ‘‘We will film it, I promise!’‘
‘‘I’ll do it only if I am awake the hole time. And these two are coming with me.’‘ You pointed at Jon and Damian. ‘‘They aren’t allowed in the OR.’‘ Damian grabbed the doctor by his tie, bringing him down at the same height. ‘‘I don’t care about your stupid rules, I won’t let anyone hurt my niece or my nephew, understood?’‘
‘‘I guess we can make an exception. But you have to calm down, okay?’‘
The pain was gone, you were able to move only from the breasts up. Before the nurses took you to the OR, you told the boys to take the camera Jason bought from your bag. It was there for the past month. You were scared that the babies will come earlier, and that maybe Jason will be on patrol and he won’t have time to grab it. You knew how important this was for Jason, and how broken he will be that he will miss it.
‘‘Did you called Jason? To let him know?’‘ Damian nodded, holding your hand, sitting on a chair right next to your head, while Jon was holding the camera, making sure to film everything.
It was pretty weird, you never thought you will end up having your twins with Batman’s son and Superman’s son by your side. They are indeed young, but they managed to stay calm and be there for you, supporting you.
‘’Are you sure you can handle some blood, Jon?’‘ Damian teased him, and you smiled. ‘‘I saw 5 cows giving birth, Damian, one of them needed C-section, I know how this works.’‘ You laughed and Damian rolled his eyes with a smile on his face.
‘‘Okay, [Y/N], they are making the cut. It’s pretty big. It’s actually big.’‘ The doctor rolled his eyes at Jon’s comments, while his assistant smiled. They weren’t expecting that either. A woman having C-section with a 13 years old and a 10 years old in the OR with her. ‘’They are still cutting. Yep. That’s really deep.’’
Jon told you every step the doctor made, letting you know that everything is going well.
You heard the door opening, but you couldn’t see who came in.
‘’I’m here.’’ You breathe relieved when you heard Jason’s voice. ‘’You came.’’ Damian moved, making room for Jason.
‘’I wouldn’t miss it for anything in this world.’’ Hearing his voice was like a song, and seeing his eyes was like the most beautiful piece of art. ‘’I missed you.’’ He squeezed your hand gently, and even thought you couldn’t see because of the mask, you knew he was smiling. ‘’I missed you too.’’
‘‘Oh, our lord Jesus Christ!’‘ Jon screamed. ‘‘The first baby is out.’‘ The doctor said, but you weren’t able to see a thing. ‘‘Congratulation! You have a beautiful baby daughter.’‘ The words hit you and Jason, both of you started crying.
‘‘Aw, she looks like a potato.’‘ You and Jason laughed. ‘’She doesn’t look like a potato!’‘ Damian protested. ‘‘She looks like more like a sphinx cat.’‘ You expected Damian to take your daughter’s part, but no, he said it looks like a cat without fur.
You heart was beating really fast when she cried for the first time, letting you know that she is okay. ‘’She’s gorgeous, babe, don’t listen to them.’’ Jason was stroking your face, looking only at you, the baby and the doctor, making sure everything is okay.
‘‘Here comes the second potato.’‘ Jon was so excited.
‘‘He has a little problem with breathing but we are going to fix it immediately.’‘ The doctor tried to calm you and Jason, when the baby wasn’t crying. All smiles faded, and everyone was expecting the little one to cry.
When he finally did, everyone cheered like it was a soccer game.
***
‘‘Dad, that was awesome! You never told me babies look like potatoes when they are born.’‘ Clark Kent laughed, messing his son’s hair.
‘‘When we can see [Y/N] and the babies? The nurse said a few minutes, a few minutes ago.’‘ No one thought that Damian will be so excited for the babies, but since that day when Jason couldn’t make it to your doctor’s appointment and Damian volunteered to come, since that day when he heard their little heart beats, you knew Damian is going to be a great uncle for your kids.
‘‘I want to hold the babies.’‘ Was the first thing Dick said when he entered into the room. ‘‘Oh, yes, hello, [Y/N].’‘
Jason was holding your daughter, while you were holding your son. ‘’Damian, you were right, they really look like cats without fur.’’ Tim punched Dick in the arm, making you and Jason laugh. ‘’I was joking! God, these days people can’t make a joke anymore.’’
‘‘What are their names?’‘ Jon asked excited.
‘‘Well, Jon, she is Catherine Joanna Todd and he is Nathaniel Damian Todd.’‘ The look on their faces when they heard the babies name was priceless, and you really regret that no one took a picture.
Even though Dick protested, everyone agreed that Jon and Damian will hold the babies first.
‘‘You will be the best superhero this universe ever saw. I’ll teach you everything I know.’‘ Jon placed a little kiss on her forehead that melted your heart. ‘’And he will be the next Robin, the best Robin.’’

2.
① Hello! Some time ago I've read an amazing fanfic and was silly enough to forget where it was (maybe AFF, I'm really not sure). However, I remember almost the whole plot. The pairing is SuChen, without anyone of Exo members. Rating: PG-13. Genre: AU, angst, happy ending. It starts with Junmyeon knocking on Jongdae's apartment door. When the latter finally lets him in, turns out Jongdae was forced to break up with Junmyeon (by $uho's rich mother, I guess). Jongdae bursts out crying, Junmyeon
② calms him down, they decide to stay together. It isn’t a long fanfic. I’ve been searching for it for a few days and got nothing. If you can help me, it would be great.

February Sax Spotlight: Jack Tawil and Maria Plucinsky
Tumblr media
Jack Tawil
Please join us in shining February’s Sax Spotlight on Jack Tawil, Manager in the firm’s Valuation, Forensic and Litigation group.  Jack recently joined the Sax team in November of 2018 and mentions that he has felt right at home, and he enjoys the sense of community and togetherness the firm exudes.  Jack quickly noticed how advanced and forward-looking Sax is in the industry, and he appreciates the collaboration and advice he receives consistently from other team members of the firm.
With seven years of experience in the Valuation, Forensic, and Litigation industry, a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Accounting, and a CVA and CPA license, Jack is working his way to achieving his main career goal of climbing the ladder at Sax and one day becoming Partner. Jack has benefited the firm in many ways since he started, including addressing the needs of the VFL group’s client base, and building strong relationships with everyone that he services.
Outside of work, Jack enjoys a challenge and recently took on training for and participating in Spartan Races, a difficult, high-intensity obstacle course.  When Jack is not training, he spends his time with his family, including his five siblings, 17 nieces and nephews, and his adopted dog and cat.
Read on to learn more about Jack in our Q&A:
What college did you attend? What was your major?
I attended Montclair State University and received my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Accounting. Once I graduated with my Bachelors, I knew I wanted to further my education, so I decided to apply to the Master’s program immediately.
Any continued education? Credentials?
Right after I graduated with my Master’s, I immediately started studying for the CPA exam, which I obtained about two years after I started preparing. Years later, I started to focus on the VFL industry, so I attended a one-week course to get my Certified Valuation Analyst certification.
When did you start working at Sax? What is your current title?
I started working at Sax in November of 2018 as a Manager in the Valuation, Forensic, and Litigation group.
What are your day-to-day responsibilities at Sax? What do you specialize in?
My day-to-day responsibilities range from preparing business valuations, to the identification of income and assets in family law. In the VFL group, we don’t follow the normal tax season schedule that the other team members have. We have our own schedule based on the number of cases we get, and we can get busy any time of the year, depending on our case load.
What are a few things you have learned here?
I think the most important thing I have learned so far has been the importance of a great client relationship. After being with the firm for only four months, a key takeaway is that building a relationship with your client is extremely important. Something else the firm has opened my eyes to is that the industry is constantly changing, and you can never get too comfortable. You always need to stay on top of the game, and the people at Sax have been great with offering me help and pushing me to exceed my expectations.
Explain some of your biggest achievements in your career.
Two of my biggest career achievements are obtaining my CPA and CVA licenses. I like to consider myself a very hard worker, and extremely thankful that everything paid off.
Explain some of your biggest achievements in life.
When I was in graduate school, I spent a lot of my time studying and working hard to start a successful career. Although I am proud of my hard work and dedication to my studies, my biggest achievement was when I decided to begin training and competing for the Spartan Races. The Spartan Race is a high-intensity obstacle course that ranges from 3 miles to 16 miles. Competing in the Spartan Races has been such an awarding experience and has helped me make a major life change. Since competing, I focus on taking care of myself and my body, which has been a key factor in being successful in other aspects of my life.
Do you have a vision or goal for your career?
My main goal is to focus on advancing my career at Sax and hopefully becoming a Partner one day. I strive to strengthen the relationships I have with my clients and always make them feel secure and taken care of.
What volunteer work do you participate in?
For about 7 years, I have been volunteering for Horizon School of North Jersey in Livingston, which is an elementary school for children with Cerebral Palsy. Some ways I have volunteered my time in the past have been by reading to the kids, helping organize charitable events, donating toys during the holidays, and sometimes I just take a ride there to spend time and play with the kids. Since discovering the school and becoming a part of their community, I have realized the importance of giving back and taking time to help others. I always leave the school with a huge smile on my face knowing I’ve helped make their day better.
Are there any other interesting facts about you outside of your work life?
I am the youngest sibling of six children and I have 17 nieces and nephews and spoil every one of them. Coming from such a big, close-knit family is always entertaining and chaotic, but I would not have it any other way. I love to spend my free time on the weekends with them, as well as my adopted dog and cat. My other interests include going out with my friends on the weekends and watching sports, especially football. For the past 15 years, my friends and I put together a Fantasy Football league, which always gets a little too competitive, but is always great to feel like a kid again.

Maria Plucinsky
This February, we would like to shine the Sax Spotlight on Maria Plucinsky, Partner in our Not-for-Profit Practice.  Maria spent most of her career at The Hunter Group which merged with Sax in November of 2017. Since the merger, Maria says she learns something new every day from Sax and that going from a smaller firm to a big, dynamic firm, she appreciates and benefits from the tools and resources that are available.
Maria has over 38 years of experience in public accounting and has accomplished many professional achievements including obtaining her CPA license, making Partner and being a dedicated working mother. Her goal has always been to be her clients #1 advisor and to assist them in all areas of their business life cycle. Her focus has always been superior client service, forming meaningful professional relationships and teaching the next generation of advisors to do the same.
Don’t let that last name fool you, Maria was born in Italy and comes from a big, loving family. Her parents decided to move to the United States when she was 13 months old so Maria and her parents large, extended families could have more opportunities. She has two children of her own whom she still loves to cook for.
Read on to learn more about Maria in our Q&A:
What college did you attend? What was your major?
I attended William Paterson College before it became a University. Originally, I studied Elementary Education, but I quickly had a change of heart and decided to explore the world of Accounting. Four years later I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree.
Do you have any credentials?
I received my CPA license about 10 years after college. It was definitely the hardest studying I have ever had to do, but so well worth it. I try to encourage our young staff to study for the CPA exam as soon as possible after graduation.
When did you start working at Sax?
Right out of college I began my career with a firm called Schotz, Simon and Miller, which later merged with The Hunter Group in 1987. After being with The Hunter Group for most of my career, we eventually became a part of Sax in November of 2017.
What is your current title?
I’ve been a Partner since 2008. Being a working mom set me back a little bit in my career because I worked part-time for about nine and half years to focus more on my family. Becoming Partner was a huge milestone for me and I will never forget the feeling of that promotion.
What are your day-to-day responsibilities at Sax? What do you specialize in?
I am a part of Sax’s Not-for-Profit group, so I focus mainly on nonprofit clients, both on the audit and tax side. As a partner, I like to consider myself the quarterback of our team. My responsibilities include making sure all the services for our clients are perfectly executed and that everybody is doing their part in getting the job done. I mainly focus on the client engagement and relationship, and to always make sure our clients are satisfied with Sax, and that nothing slips through the cracks.
What are a few things you have learned at Sax?
The most important thing I have learned since becoming a part of Sax is that no matter how much you advance in your career, there will always be more to learn and room to grow. Sax offers a great amount of resources that I’ve never had, and the consistent trainings have made it easier to adjust to a bigger firm. Something else I have found valuable in the merger is that our team members are always willing to help and give advice to each other.
Explain some of your biggest achievements in your career.
Obviously, two of my biggest professional achievements were obtaining my CPA and becoming a Partner. Both accomplishments required tons of hard work and dedication, but what I have learned in my career is that you will get what you put in. I would not be where I am today if I did not work as hard as I did.
Explain some of your biggest achievements in life.
Being able to have a successful career and be a working mother at the same time is something I consider a huge achievement. When I first started my career, the Accounting industry was only 10% female and being a part-time, working mom in public accounting was not common in the 80’s and 90’s. Being able to take on that challenge and do what was right for me and my family is something I will always be proud of.
Do you have a vision or goal for your career?
My overall goal would be to continue to be my clients’ #1 advisor and get more involved with Business Development to help Sax grow as much as I can until my retirement. Being able to retire peacefully knowing my clients were and will continue to be taken care of is all I could hope for.
Are there any other interesting facts about you outside of your work life?
Not many people know this about me, but I was born in a small village in Italy called Alberobello and moved to the U.S. when I was 13-months old. I come from a big, Italian family and have two children of my own. Outside of my busy work life, I enjoy spending the summer weekends at our beach home in Wildwood Crest. Some other things I like to do in my free time are cooking and entertaining. I enjoy trying new recipes and enjoy the challenge of hosting anywhere from 24-30 guests on Thanksgiving and Easter every year. I’m also always looking for new concerts and Broadway shows to go see.

How To Become The Cool Aunt
Becoming an Aunt and subsequently the Cool Aunt is a rite of passage that many women will be lucky to experience in their lifetime. We aren’t the moms. There’s no moral or legal obligation for us to be present in their lives. Rather, our role exists as a matter of choice. Being an active and positive female figure for our nieces and nephews means they will grow up with more than just their parents as influencers and supportive figures. There’s strength in numbers. Being active in their lives means they have the potential to be stronger as they grow up. A strong female who plays an active role in their niece and nephew (niblings) lives is what I call the Cool Aunt.
I have been a self proclaimed Cool Aunt for 13 years now. It all started when my cousin gave birth to Lola (my niece by choice). Then some years later, I was gifted with three more beautiful niblings, Layla, Jayden, and Julian from my sister. I’ve committed a good portion of my life cultivating a unique relationship each of them and adapting to their needs and interests as they have grown.
So how do you become the Cool Aunt?
Becoming the Cool Aunt takes time and dedication, but it’s achievable for everyone. Every child will be slightly different in how they connect and bond with their Aunt. However, there are certain universal truths and guidelines for starting your journey to Cool Aunt status.
1. Start young.
The easiest way to establish that you’re someone to be looked up to is to be present in their life starting from a very young age. Ideally this with begin when they’re babies. If they constantly see your face, hear your voice, and feel your loving touch, a bond will immediately begin to be formed.
To read more about bonding and attachment click here.
2. Be their friend no matter what their age.
Once they become active little people, the best way to get to know them is to be their playmate. It doesn’t matter their age, we all like to play in our own way.
Toddlers are highly active and sometimes unpredictable. They are fickle little critters, so you have to be ready for that going in. Get down to their level and play with whatever they’re playing with. This may change every 10 minutes or so but on the upside, you can save a little money and cancel your gym membership. Toddlers are a workout all on their own.

As they grow into preschool and school age years, they’ll take more interest in coloring, drawing, crafting, playing sports, and creating make-believe games, etc. Wherever their interest lies, so should yours.
Listen to their music
Play their games
Watch their shows and movies
Once they become teenagers, they’ll most likely have their “thing” figured out. If they’re musicians, ask them to play you a song. If they’re artists, ask them to make you a picture. If they just love playing video games, ask them to teach you how to play. The common theme here is to make them a priority. That’s what all Cool Aunts do.
3. Spend time with them – without their parents.
At all ages, people tend to be completely different when they’re around their parents. I can freely admit to still being this way at 36 years old.
It’s a good idea for Aunts to plan for time with niblings away from their parents so you can get to know each other better. When they’re young it’s easiest to do this by babysitting. However, when they no longer need a caregiver, you can take them out for ice-cream, get a manicure together, or offer to be their ride when they want to go somewhere.
Also, if you have the means to, inviting them to your house for visits and sleepovers. Showing the initiative that you want to spend time with them makes them feel special. In addition, it gives you another tally mark in the Cool Aunt column.
4. Be adaptive in your relationships.
When you have several niblings, no two are exactly alike even if they’re the same gender. Their ages will most likely vary and so will their interests. For example, one of my nephews LOVES his nerf guns and could play war with me all day. However, my other nephew is really into playing video games and watching others play them too. Instead of trying to get everyone to play the exact same game, or even a game that I like, I split my time with both. Chances are one of them is going to take interest in the game anyway because kids will go wherever the action is, but nevertheless, make the conscious effort to divide your time.
Even if what they like isn’t your favorite thing to do, try your best to put in effort so they associate your presence with someone who cares about them. My niece was really into Barbies, but I’m not a girlie girl. It wasn’t something I took to naturally, but I played them with her anyway because she wanted me there.
5.) Stay open minded.
Much like the world was different from when your parents were growing up, it’s the same for the kids now. How annoying was it to hear the judgmental, “When I was a kid…” Don’t be that Aunt. Play along with how the world is operating now instead of being stuck in past.
Let them be who they are – not who you want them to be. Even if you’re a younger Aunt, the internet, social media, and cell phones have all changed the way we communicate.
If they have an Instagram account, follow them and like their pictures, but be weary of over commenting. If you’re thinking to yourself, “Is this too much?” – it probably is.
If they have a cell phone – text them regularly. Yes, I said text, you’re most likely going to get the best response that way. Share a funny meme, let them know you’re thinking about them, but avoid the group text with their Mom. No one likes group texts.
6.) Take a queue from the late George Michael – Listen without prejudice.
Without a doubt, at some point, you’re gonna hear things that you don’t want to hear. There will come a day when an uncomfortable conversation comes about like, dating, bodily functions, fighting with parents/siblings, changes in their bodies, etc. There’s bound to be something that’ll make your eye twitch. Cool Aunts will just let them talk.
It’s better that they come to you to confide in and to seek answers instead of google. They’ll probably still look up things like “How do I divorce my parents?”. However, google isn’t going to wrap its arms around them or dry their tears when they’re upset. Cool Aunts have the answers like google but with emotional support. You’ve been where they are. Don’t judge them for needing to vent, be the nonjudgmental listener they’ve even seeking.
7.) If you’re a Long Distance Aunt – Get creative.
There’s no reason why long distance Aunts can’t also be Cool Aunts. I was a long distance Aunt for 9 years before my shrimps moved to New York. Now they live 20 minutes away from me. It took more effort for sure, but it was an investment in our relationship which was very important to me.
I found ways to stay connected to them like FaceTiming for Dinner, exchanging refrigerator art, writing letters to them as Santa Claus, sending voice notes at bedtime. All those little things add up. There’s no such thing as I can’t because we’re far away. You can if you put in the time. Here are some ideas in my post on 10 Smart Phone Activities To Bond Long Distance.
8. It’s better late than never.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to get to know your niblings from a young age, don’t lose all hope. People form relationships at all different stages in life. Some people get married and inherit big families. Others may have separations that cause them to be away for extended periods of time.
It doesn’t matter when you start in this case. What matters is that you make the efforts to form a relationship. The biggest determining factor in Cool Aunt status is having the desire to have a relationship. If there’s a will, there’s always a way.

AncestryDNA How I Discovered an Amazing New Family
AncestryDNA
Do you ever wonder where you came from? I mean beyond the stories told to you by relatives. Do you wonder where your ancestors were living 500 years ago? I became very curious after my parents died. I was the youngest of four children. My siblings and I were going through our parent’s house deciding who got what. Instead of arguing over china or crystal I had my eye on something else. There were a lot of really old photos and a bunch of papers written in  German that we found in my parent’s attic. I told my siblings that I would like those. No one else was interested, so they were all mine. Before this house was my parents, it was my grandparent’s home, so some of the papers and photos were very old.
My siblings and I in 1999
Finding Something that Peeked My Curiosity
I had some of the more interesting of the papers I found in the attic translated from old German to German and then to English. It is difficult to find someone who reads old German. Those papers turned out to be the emigration papers for my mom’s great-grandparents and their children. The papers gave the family permission to emigrate from Prussia (Germany) to North America. After finding these papers, I began a search for more information. In the 1990’s there wasn’t a lot of genealogy information online. I had to post questions to internet boards (sort of like an online classified) and hope that somewhere in Europe just the right person would see my post and answer. Well, it took a few years, but I finally got a reply from someone who knew of my family. He said that there were people with my mother’s maiden name living in town, and it was the town my family had emigrated from.
Getting Help from a Friend I Met on the Internet
My contact in this small town talked to my distant relatives. After emailing my contact in Germany back and forth for a couple of years discussing genealogy and my family, we finally decided to visit Germany. My husband, son, daughter and I took this trip in 2006. We were able to meet with long lost cousins in Eastern Germany. I still had family with my grandfather’s surname living in the same house that my 9th great grandfather bought around 1520. This part of my family was very involved in the church. Most of them were priests and later pastors. Because the church kept such good records, we were able to find lots of information about them.

A Visit to Germany
While we were in Germany we visited the Churches that they were pastors of.  We found most of their graves. They lived very close to Martin Luther (leader of the Reformation), in a neighboring town, and were followers of his. My great maternal grandmother was from the same area, and we were able to find the house she lived in as a child. We even found old paintings of my relatives stored away in one of the churches. The trip was amazing. My kids even found visiting cemeteries fascinating because they knew they were related to these German people.

These church records contained handwriting of my distant grandfathers
We tried to find information about my dad’s family, but to this day we have not found anything. My maiden name was Radermacher (which means wheel maker in German). What we knew of my dad’s side of the family was that my grandfather’s family came from Germany and my Grandmother immigrated to the US when she was 13 from Austria. This German/Austrian ancestry is important to know because of what I’m about to tell you.
The Best Christmas Present
Fast forward to 2014. My husband is trying to think of a good Christmas present for me when he sees an ad for an AncestryDNA kit. He thought wow, Tina would love this. It will show her exactly how much of her DNA is what ethnicity. He was right, I loved the DNA idea, and I sent in my sample a few days after Christmas. We were expecting my results to show that I am 90% German or Eastern/Western European.
It’s now February, and we are sitting on a plane in Los Angeles waiting to depart for a trip to Guatemala. My husband’s phone alerted him that he got an email. He quickly looks at the sender and sees one is from Ancestry. He looked at the email and it was my DNA results. Keith read the email.  He said,  “this is weird; you are more Greek or Italian than anything else”. Of course, I was puzzled.
Before the plane took off, I called my brother. He and I are the only remaining siblings alive out of my parents and four children. I told him my results and asked if we bought a kit right now and had it sent overnight to him would he do the test so we can see he’s the same? He said sure. We sent him the test, he took it, sent it back to AncestryDNA, and then we waited.
My Brothers Results
After about seven weeks, the results were in. My husband and I looked at them together. My brother was 88% Eastern/Western European. He had no Greek or Italian, but more importantly, he did not share enough DNA with me to be my full brother. I was shocked. All kinds of things started going through my mind. My oldest sister was 19 when I was born, so I wondered if I was hers and my mom and dad raised me as their own. My brother swore this was not the case as he was 16 when I was born. He saw my mom pregnant and remembers the day she went to the hospital to have me.
At the time a friend of mine’s husband was the head geneticist at UCLA. I asked him to look at our results. He said that we shared one parent but did not share the same two parents. My mom was my mom. That left my dad. No one in my living family knew anything about this, so I had no leads. For the next two-plus years, I searched for who my dad might be, but I was unsuccessful. I wrote to the families of my mom’s friends, to find out what nationality they were in search of that one Italian or Greek. All of this lead nowhere!
The Email That Would Be the Start of Something Great
Then last year my husband logged into our Ancestry account and found an email waiting for me. Emails are not unusual. Because we have such a large family tree publically posted, we get contacted by distant relatives when they see we are a match. However, this email was different. It wasn’t a family tree match but rather a DNA match. As soon as I looked at the DNA match, I knew this was big. The person that wrote me was Cheryl. We shared the same amount of DNA on the same number of DNA segments as my brother and me.
First Communication
When you email someone on Ancestry, they do not get your personal information, unless you give it to them. In my first reply to Cheryl, I gave her my email address and hoped she would email me instead of messaging through Ancestry. I didn’t want to scare her and have her stop communicating with me which is why I wanted her email. She did email me back. It took a lot emailing back and forth before I showed her my brother’s DNA results next to hers. At first, she thought we were first cousins. She had done her DNA looking for her grandfather’s family since she never met him and did not know who he was. As soon as she saw the results, she said are you telling me you think we are sisters?
Cheryl and I were/are the same age. She also had an older brother and an older sister. She broke the news to them. They were very receptive. The AncestryDNA test is not a legal paternity test so just to be 100% sure, we decided to submit our DNA to a lab that could show if we all shared the same father. Again, there was waiting, almost two agonizing weeks. When the results came in, they verified the AncestryDNA findings. Our family instantly doubled. I had two new sisters, one brother, ten nieces, and nephews and a great-nephew. I knew for sure the identity of my biological dad.
My biological father
Putting the Pieces Together
It took a while to put the pieces together on how my mother and biological father knew each other. Their family moved around a lot. But when I was conceived, they lived in the same small town my family lived. Their father was 24, and my mom was 40. My mom owned a restaurant that my new family always thought their grandmother owned. So far, record searching does not show they ever owned or worked at the restaurant. After seeing a picture of my biological father, my brother thinks he knew him but does not remember him working at the restaurant. The oldest two new siblings remember going to this small restaurant often with their dad. My mother’s name was Caroline.
My new siblings said there was always a rumor in their family that their dad’s step-brother had got a girl in town named Carol, pregnant but that she was married. We now realize it was a made up story because my biological father was also married when I was conceived. Therefore the step-brother was helping cover up what would have been an extramarital affair.
My New Siblings Lived in Several Areas Growing Up
My new siblings lived in several states when they were young, but as the younger two entered high school, the family decided to settle down permanently. They chose a neighboring town to mine. They moved back to Michigan where they would be closer to their mom’s side of the family.  My siblings always wondered why they did not go back to my hometown since their parents met and married when living there. We assume that he wanted to make sure the two families did not run into each other.
My biological dad died at age 51 of cancer. I would have been 27. My mother died the following year of heart disease. I would have no idea if my mother knew my biological dad had moved back to the area let alone that he was sick. At the time he was struggling with cancer my mom was struggling with emphysema and heart disease.
The Big Day
When we found out about my new siblings, my husband and I were scheduled to be in the US for three weeks, visiting four states. One of my new sisters still lives in the area where they grew up. Keith and I would be visiting Keith’s dad and my brother both of whom live within 25 minutes of my new sister. We were scheduled very tight trying to see all of our existing family, but we managed to free an afternoon to meet all my new family in person.
On May 2017 I met my new brother and two sisters along with a lot of my nieces and nephews for the first time in person. My new found siblings and their kids have always been very close, so it was easy for them to get the family together in one place on short notice. My sister Cheryl had made me a photo album covering the 56 years I had missed out on. The title is Life’s Little Surprises. My sister Susan got me a flower arrangement that said, “It’s a girl.”  We talked about their childhood, and they told me about my dad. My brother Freeland was worried about what kind of person I would be.  In minutes those worries were gone.  It was an emotional day and a far too short of a visit.
The Wonders of Social Media
Many of my nieces and nephews reached out to me through Messenger as soon as they got the news from their moms that they had another aunt. It is one thing to find a new family but quite another to find one that is so close to each other. I am so blessed to have found such a wonderful family.
Tina playing with her new great nephew
Before meeting my siblings in person, I had seen many pictures of them and their families that they sent me. They also sent me numerous pictures of my dad. I did not think I looked like my new siblings until we took this picture in my sister Sue’s backyard. When we went back inside the house to look at the picture I was shocked at the resemblance. I looked more like them then I did in the family I grew up with.
My first picture with my new siblings
The family I grew up in (circa 1972)
This is Not Unusual
When I called Ancestry to ask questions about Cheryl’s and my results, they said that this happens more than you think. If my dad knew he was not my father, he accepted it and raised me as his own. He always showed me, love. My brother said he always thought I was dad’s favorite. He was there to play with me and to care for me, so he was my dad. Finding my biological dad does not replace my dad or make him any less important. I just know now that I had two dads. Finding out that I have three more siblings is awesome. We all wish we had known each other a lot sooner, but this timing might have been for the best. They do not believe their mother ever knew about me.
In the two-plus years, it took to find my siblings; AncestryDNA results got more detailed. I now know that I am Italian, specifically from Sicily and Southern Italy.
My new siblings and I have two dreams. The first is to find our paternal, fathers’ family. Our father’s mother never married our father’s dad and never told our dad his fathers name, but she did give my sisters a name before she died. That name has not appeared yet on any DNA matches, but we are always watching. Our second dream is to visit Southern Italy and Sicily together. Unique memories that we can make together and will last forever!
Sicily
A Dream, to Travel to my New Found Heritage
In the beginning, AncestryDNA led me to visit Eastern Germany to explore my roots, then I took an AncestryDNA test and now I want to visit Sicily and Southern Italy. With AncestryDNA able to trace your origins to 350 regions around the world – 5x more regions than other DNA tests – it lets you discover your ethnic origins, and can inspire you to visit the countries of your ancestors for a more meaningful, authentic travel experience. The next trip you take can be more than a destination – it will be to explore your history.
Do you have a similar story? Have you done your AncestryDNA and found out something you were not expecting. I would truly love to hear your story. Please use the comment section below to tell me.
There is a great AncestryDNA promotion that is running now through April 29th. You can purchase a DNA test for only $59 (regularly $99) by clicking here. This promotion is restricted only to the U.S.

Fun Ways To Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Kids Long Distance
This post contains affiliate links. This means I receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you purchase using them. Please read my Disclaimer Policy for more information.
Being a long distance Aunt is hard on the heart sometimes.  You don’t get to see your niblings as often as you’d like, the kids seem to grow up overnight from one visit to the next, and you feel like you miss out on just about everything!  Being far away is just the pits!
Although the physical distance between you and your niblings might not be able to be shortened, there are little things that you can do between visits to help your relationship remain strong.
I was a long distance aunt for 9 years before my family returned to New York! It was so hard being away from my niece and nephews. One thing that made it a little earlier on me while we were apart staying active in their lives. I’d call all the time, FaceTime for dinner, and visit as often as I could. But there were little occasion like Valentine’s Day that I’d miss out on, but that didn’t stop me from celebrating with them!
Though our houses were located hundreds of miles away, our hearts lived as close as next door neighbors.  I didn’t use the excuse, “I wish we were closer, but we live so far away.”  Nope, I’ve made it my mission to be involved in their lives ever since my niece Layla was born in 2009.  And it paid off! Now that they live 20 minutes away, I’m not a stranger building our relationship from the ground up. I’m one of their favorite people because I invested so much of my time making sure they got to know me for all these years.
One way of ways you can remain active in their lives is by using the mail!! I’d substitute time spent together with time spent sending them love!
In my book, Valentine’s Day is a day of love, not romance.
Here are 5 great ways to send love to your nieces and nephews this Valentine’s Day!
1.) Write them a love letter.
Money might be tight, but most can spare a few cents for a postage stamp. I go into detail about this in my post, How to write a letter from an Aunt in 5 Easy Steps. Take out a piece of paper and write down how much they mean to you. Pop it in an envelope and drop it in the mail.
Sending letters to your nieces and nephews creates lasting memories for them to refer back to for years to come! It’s one gift they’ll never outgrow! Need help?  Get 3 FREE letter templates from me!  Click here!
2.) Send a Candy Basket
Check out all this goodies from Edible Gifts Plus (affiliate Link). They have LOTS to choose from when it comes to Vday gifts. Sending something edible for your niblings to snack on for the holiday is a great way to satisfy their sweet tooth AND put a plus one in your column for favorite Aunt. There’s something for everyone. From chocolate covered fortune cookies, oreos, lollipop treats, giant Rice Krispy sheet cakes, I’m sure you’ll be able to find something for everyone.
3.) Send a personalized Valentine from Santa Claus
In my post, 13 Reasons Why I Play Santa, my number 2 reason was because I was a long distant Aunt.
I was racking my brain for a way to be able to do something special for my niece and nephews who were living 500 miles away. There was no chance I could  just pop in on a random week night just to say hi or give a hug. That heartache was weighing heavily on my conscience.  I wanted to be able to do something for them that would enrich their lives.  So I became their Santa and sent them monthly letters. I made them happy even from afar with a little help from St. Nick. This eased that pain that I was feeling in my heart and it brought them joy on a continuous basis. I eventually created North Pole Notes so others could do the same.
Playing Santa solved two problems. For one, it gave me an opportunity to do something special and unique for my niece and nephews. And two, it allowed the magic of Santa to be part of their lives all the time. He’s not as a once a year gift giver to them. He’s their pen pal that writes to them for motivation and to spread happiness!
4.) Send A Craft Kit
My niece and nephews LOVE to craft! They patiently sit down patiently and approach each project they take on with such precision. They often send me pictures of their completed projects or send them to me in the mail for me to decorate with. When they come to visit they enjoy seeing their artwork and crafts.
Kid Made Modern (affiliate link) has lot of fun craft kits to choose from! What I love about the craft kit is that you don’t have to go out and buy individual items to complete the craft. It’s one stop shopping and everything you need is right there in the box! My sister really appreciates when the kids get to do a project. It gives her a little quiet time and they love the immediate satisfaction of a completed craft!
5.) Make Your Own Picture!
Drawing is sort of my thing, but I know it’s not everyone’s strong suit. My niece and nephews often ask me draw them a picture of their favorite characters and superheroes. We’ve gotten to the point now where I have to do a good job because they want them framed!
When we were still a long distance family, it would common for us to swap refrigerator art. The little sentiment goes a long way. If you’d like to test out sending a drawing to your nieces and nephews and need a good resource, I highly suggest Art for Kids Hub on YouTube. This channel breaks down all the steps to drawing popular cartoon characters, to emojis and more! He does it all with his kids drawing with him! It’s a kid friend channel and fan favorite in my family. Now that we live close to each other, we can draw side by side together
I hope you got what you were looking for! There should a little something for everyone in here. If you’d like to get a free alphabet coloring book enter your email address below! Your niblings will love coloring and learning at the same time!!
