HELLO! I'm sorry you've been getting idiotic anonymous people being rude about Uhura. I saw your lovely post about her and it made me happy to see that people appreciate her! She is so much more than lots of fandom pretends. Also I high-key agree that Karl Urban absolutely nailed his performance of Bones. It was so dead on!!! Zoe's Uhura was lovely too but as you say, sharper around the edges, and personally I felt her relationship with Spock was very sweet but difficult initially for me because I really get stressed when one person doesn't get the emotional needs of another. So their really gentle scenes made me SO happy when they finally happened. The warmth and gentleness shone through and won me over entirely. Zoe played sharp with just enough warmth. But I still love Nichelle's too. Uhura is great! Anyway didnt have a huge point here just happy that you also love her and call people out LOL

The main issue is the misogynoir and perhaps TERF leanings against the most recent player in the part, Celia Rose Gooding. She is non-binary and goes by she/they pronouns. She also has a short close-cropped style which beautifully frames her face. The troll is hyper-fixated on attacking that, disparaging her presentation of femininity using coded language to imply aggression or masculinity. This is extra backward because, of the three players who took on Uhura, she has the darkest skin tone, has the fullest lips and a wide nose bridge, and her hair is the only one not in a straightened or processed style (which is fine for an option BTW). All of these things together are rare aesthetics for a Black woman, and appropriate, especially for an sub-Saharan African woman's character presentation, especially in a futuristic sci-fi mainstream iconic franchise, like Star Trek and so important for young people to see as normalized femininity. I think of Lupita Nyong'o talking about the effect Alek Wek had on her...just being there as this South Sudanese supermodel, with very dark skin and short natural hair...

Celia Rose is the particular target this troll has framed as their "fanhood", with thinly veiled insults and backhanded "compliments" that keep dogwhistling in their posts with various account names.

As for Zoe's Uhura, that professionalism and sharpness, when it came to her abilities and focus on her studies was an obvious intentional writing choice to stave off the very criticisms *she still got* because of the misogynoir of that era...

People were accusing her of coercing Spock into her ship assignment and even assaulting him(!).

That mess never makes sense, but hating Black women for existing or having what we are perceived as not "deserving" is sadly an old tradition (see those who make a hobby out of hating Megan Markle). And now, I see people praising the OG Uhura, Nichelle, for aspects of her character that were actually forms of limitations on her because of production bigotry...i.e. the forced interracial kiss, that people constantly cite as some forward thing w/o the context that it was forced because the implication was that no one in her crew would willingly kiss a Black person. IOW, aliens assaulting them for their entertainment was the lesser evil and more palatable to white audiences than someone choosing to love on Uhura (and I would add *especially* someone white, because even showing Black affection and love in that time was a rare thing, and her episode showing some yearning towards an old love showed no physical affection between them either). Anyway, all that to bring it right back around to ALL the Uhuras are great. And the weird microaggressions, macroaggressions, hatred, and attempts to shove them into a particular box are misogynoir; a microcosm of the kind of bullshit too many Black women go through on the regular just for existing.

Celia is a Rose and I hope she shines, gets loved on, has friends (including some Black ones) who are genuinely concerned for her well-being and actually help her when she's in need.

I can't walk with you there because Spock literally almost hindered Uhura's career and got her on an exploded ship(!) because of his emotional bias and almost killed Kirk on the bridge because he was not managing his emotions well. Meanwhile Uhura read him well enough to provide some comfort after the loss of his mother.

Bird From the Window (ft. Pepper, Penny, and Zoe)

Yet another day in Downtown City. The sun was shining, the birds were singing…

And Pepper wishes she could make them shut up. They're making this headache and sickness of hers worse.

Maybe it was the medicine she was force-fed that made her a bit drowsy, and unable to think well enough. Or maybe she was just plain grumpy.

Either way, Pepper decided to voice her thoughts, "Birds. Noisy. Kill it. Kill them all.

"…Kill?" Penny's voice shook with concern as she closed Pepper's underarm, letting the thermometer do its work, "Pepper, I think that'd be a bit much… we can just shoo them away!"

Zoe tentatively placed a hand on Pepper's forehead. She immediately retracted her hand when she felt just how warm Pepper was, "Oh dear! Penny, get a towel from that drawer over there and soak it in cold water. Pepper needs it."

"On it, Zoe!" Penny did a little salute and went off to obey Zoe's orders.

The sharp beep of the thermometer started up, signaling that it was done taking Pepper's temperature.

Ugh, another high-pitched annoying sound.

Luckily, it was gone quickly. Zoe pulled the thermometer out of Pepper's underarm, taking a look at the temperature.

"…39 degrees?! If your hot forehead wasn't enough to convince me to make you stay here, then 39 degrees definitely is." Zoe said.

Pepper took a little while to process the information. When she did, all she had to say was; "W…wuh? Oh… a-aCHOO-!"

"Here's that cold, wet towel!" Penny came in carrying said item, handing it to Zoe. Zoe spread the towel out and placed it on Pepper's forehead.

"There we go. Now, your plan for today is to rest. You'll be staying in bed, and Penny and I will stay here to watch over you!"

"But I… I have a big show today… The-" Pepper coughed, "The people… must hear… my comedy…my jokes!!"

"The people will get to hear it at your next show. But you'll have to cancel this one. Sorry, Pepper," Penny shook her head.

"The great Pepper Clark does… not… cancel…!"

"Shhh…" Zoe stroked Pepper's hair, beads of sweat shining throughout. Gentle fingers scratched at just the right spot in her scalp, making Pepper sigh. The sensation was so relaxing, maybe she could just…

The fingers were gone before Pepper could ask for more.

"Eugh, sweat…" Zoe wiped the salty liquid off her hand.

The sound of a high-pitched pop song filled the room.

God, no. Please no. Not the high pitched noises…

"Oh, excuse me, I've got a call to answer…" Zoe said, pulling her phone out of her pocket.

"…Your ringtone… is nightcore of one of your songs?" Penny asked.

"SHHH, don't mention it," Zoe hushed her friend as she pressed the answer button, "Hello? Yes? Oh, hello Russell dearie! You see, I'm a bit busy right now…���

Zoe's voice faded away into another room, leaving Pepper and Penny alone in this one.

"So, any special requests, Pepper?"

"Bird in the window, do something about it."

"Again with the bird in the window?"

"Y…yeah! Just make them quiet somehow. I want to sleep, but… noisy. Stupid birds. Hey, you've watched Adventure Time, right?"

"Um, a couple episodes, yeah?"

"Do the thing with like- the bird from the window. From the sandwich. Cook it. I'm not sure. Just make them shut up…"

"Oh wow, uh- okay, okay!"

"That is all… Now go forth. Complete your quest…"

That- and Penny's chuckle- is the last thing Pepper remembered before she fell into a state of nothingness.

The nap didn't do much to make Pepper feel better. In fact, she probably felt even worse.

She groaned, placing a hand to her head in an attempt to make the pounding stop.

Well... it was quiet now. The birds were gone. How long do they stay on windows anyway? What time was it?

"Oh, Pepper! You're awake!" Penny cheerfully said, opening the door to let herself into the bedroom. Pepper noticed the tray Penny had in hand.

"Whaddya wa… what is it?”

Penny took her place in the chair next to Pepper's bed. She set the tray on the bedside table, "So, thing is- Zoe had to go out. The boys and Minka need her for something. So I offered to stay here and look after you!"

"Wow, that's awesome, Penny," Pepper felt herself smile. Through this sickness, it was comforting to have at least one friend there.

Curious about the tray, Pepper said, "So, uh… Whatchu got over there?"

"Oh, yes! These. First, we got your medicine- you can take these later, just so long as it's within the day."

"Mmm... medicine..."

"And this big water bottle whenever you get thirsty!" Penny lifted the bottle up to show Pepper, "I'll place it right here. Remember, hydration is important, especially now that you're sick!"

"Uh, yeah, sure. Hydration." Penny's words only barely got through Pepper's mind.

"And, lastly, I have you some nice, warm noodle soup! With bird from the window, just as you requested!"

That got Pepper's mind into gear.

"Wait, what?" Pepper jolted up from her laying flat position. The (now very warm) towel from her forehead flopped onto her blanket, "I don't know what sleepy drugs I was on back there, but my lord I didn't think you'd take my request seriously-"

Penny giggled, "No, silly, of course I wouldn't! It's just normal chicken, don't worry about it."

"Oh. Phew. Okay." Pepper sighed. Feeling a bit better, she also started to giggle, "Hah, good one, Ling."

"Coming from a comedienne? Aww, I'm honored!" Penny smiled. She took the towel from its spot on the bed. The spot on the blanket where it had been was starting to get soggy.

"Now, I'll leave you alone to enjoy the soup. I'll be back in a bit with a newly soaked cold towel, okay? Call me if you need anything!"

"Yeah, aighty then. See ya…"

With that, Penny was up up and away.

"Hehe, bird from the window. I'll have to make do something with that later..." Pepper chuckled to herself as she stuck her fork into a meat chunk from the bowl, ready to eat it.

Huh. If the pieces are this tiny, that must have been a very small chicken…

time for you to shine

the month winds down into a matter of seconds before flashing lights and the ravenous crowd ready to devour them whole. she isn’t sure just how they’ve gotten to this point, but mijoo is more than happy to shoulder the burden in exchange of releasing the woes that take her members captive. while february hadn’t been the most peaceful of months for her, she makes the most of it. ( even if it meant keeping her distance from the one person she didn’t want to ) she does it because she knows it’s for the best, he made his choice -- it was time to make hers, right? he had sacrificed so much for her and mijoo, although kind at heart, was through and through stubborn when it came to her decisions and was adamant to use her time away from him ( purposeful time away ) to understand his choices and how they were meant for her benefit.

and while it had kept her focused on the tasks at hand, it was a hurt she had to shelf as she watches her members gather around, one by one ; watching their nerves come alit in their eyes, for most in favor of the glamour of the stage, and the excitement of getting back out there again. but for others, she can sense the fear that takes them whole and she knows that feeling well. wears it on her sleeve at times like this but never did she let it take a hold of her. which was why, her hand deftly slides into that of nayoung’s, a strong squeeze capturing the other’s attention -- a subtle i’m here, you know -- as mijoo steers the other from gazing from beyond the wings of the stage and at herself. ready to give the best peptalk as if her life depended on it, if need be.

A short NS*W drabble featuring desperate ‘I thought you were dead’ forest seggs ~

The forest is serene by night. Through the heavy, needled branches of the tall pines Hange Zoe can make out a smattering of stars peppering the inky black sky. It amazes her how peaceful the world seems when really everything is poised to fall apart. 

The moon speckles the forest floor with an eerie, whitish glow. Behind her the Captain rests, unconscious. That same glow illuminates the pallor of his ragged skin.

Hange never wants the sun to rise. She doesn’t want to lose that intrinsic sense of serenity that accompanies the chirping crickets and the hooting of owls. A whole ecosystem ignorant to the machinations of evil men. 

She bows her head forward, the emotional exhaustion of her plight weighing on her shoulders more heavily than ever. 

“We should just live here together, right, Levi?” She says to no one. A flush rises in her cheeks because, in a way, her words are a confession of something that they’ve been dancing around for years. But they always seem to flub the timing. 

“You know you can’t sit out of this fight,” Levi’s voice is rough behind her, weak and low. 

Hange startles, twisting her body to face him, her flush deepens, “L-Levi! You heard me just now, huh?” 

Levi only watches her, slate eye shining in the moonlight that peppers his bandaged visage. 

Hange’s breath catches, stunned that he can be so beautiful, even after being so thoroughly ravaged. Her heart soars in her chest, thundering into her throat which is tight to the point of pain. 

She leans forward over him, holding his gaze. The realization dawns on her that this might be their only chance, their final chance. Because Levi is right, she can’t simply run away when so many innocent lives are on the line. They could die come morning. Levi could have died that very day. 

Hip pressing into his shoulder, she traces a line along the unharmed side of his face. From his brow to his cheekbone the pad of her finger treks carefully over his skin. He’s warm, perhaps slightly feverish from his wounds. A sob wracks through Hange’s chest and Levi’s good eye goes wide at the sound. 

“Hange,” he reaches for her immediately, but she catches his hand in her own, teary eye roaming over the stumps of knuckles where two of his fingers had once been. 

It hurts. Just the thought that she could have lost him hurts so badly. 

“I thought you were dead,” she admits, remembering the weight of his limp body in her arms, fingers desperately searching for a heartbeat. “I thought you were gone, Levi. I thought I was all alone.”

The tears flow unbidden and she bows her head carefully into his chest to hide her face, “You know I love you, right?”

Levi’s body stiffens against hers, remaining fingers tensing her her hand. She’d finally said it, those three little, infernal words that have chased them like a shadow for four long years. She feels a little lighter for having said them, so she says them again. 

“I love you,” she raises her head, sniffing, tears beginning to stem. “I love you.” 

Adjusting to the newness of those words, Levi lifts his hand to cup her face. His visible cheek is flushed, eye watery though he sheds no tears. 

“I thought you were dead,” she repeats, voice ragged. Then Hange leans forward and lays a gentle kiss over Levi’‘s mouth through the bandages. The hand that had cupped her cheek moves to cup the back of her neck, fingers twining into her still damp hair. 

Hange kisses his cheek and his forehead, the lid of his good eye and the tip of his nose. She straddles him, body aching for him, for physical comfort, and she feels him hard under the blanket. 

They could both die come sunrise, she thinks. All they have is this moment, the present that transpires around them. 

To her surprise, Levi sits up, pushing the blanket off of himself and tugging Hange into his lap. Her fingers caress along the exposed musculature of his chest and shoulders. Her russet eye shines in the moonlight, swollen from her tears. 

She kisses him again, lingering as she carefully rolls her hips against his lap. They need this. They’ve wanted this for years; since Erwin died, before then even. From the moment she had first laid eyes upon him Hange had known he was special, now she will show him exactly what that means. 

“I love you,” she exhales against his bandages, fingers working on the fly of her pants. Levi helps her shuck the imposing garment, tossing it a few feet away. 

His hands caress over her hips, pulling her flush to his chest and into a tight embrace that lasts for a long while. Hange hiccups another sob into his shoulder, holding him right back. She can hear the thunder of his heartbeat in her ear, the most precious sound she has ever heard. 

“I thought I’d lost you,” She says, muffled into his skin. Fresh tears spatter against him, trailing down his shoulder. 

“You didn’t,” he reassures, voice soft, pained. “I’m here.” 

Hange pulls away just far enough to reach between their bodies and undo his fly. She fishes out his hard cock carefully, giving him a few testing strokes that earn her a soft groan. 

“I love you,” she says again, then she sinks down onto him in one smooth, steady movement. 

They both gasp, grasping at one another. Levi holds her flush to him, pressing their foreheads together so they breathe each other’s breath. They remain like that for a long while; Hange seated on him, hot around him, full to the brim of her beloved Captain, holding one another. 

Levi drops his head to the crook of her neck as she slowly begins to roll her hips. He nuzzles there, hands searching reverently over her body. 

They’ve both wanted this for a long time. Not-so-secretly longing for one another. They feel complete, whole. Two halves of a single, radiant thing which mounts between them with each roll of Hange’s hips. 

“I love you,” Hange says again, gripping him more tightly. Her clit grinds against his pubic bone, drawing a strangled whimper past her lips. Already her body is tightening around him, going taut as a bowstring. 

She never wants it to end, this sublime thing which unfolds between them. She never wants to let him go, never wants to leave this forest. They’re safe here, together, hidden away where no one can ever find them, where no one can ever hurt them. She loves him. Hange Zoe loves Levi Ackerman and it hurts in the most pristine way. 

It’s never been more clear than now, in this moment, as they make love like they won’t see the sunrise. 

“Hange,” Levi whispers her name like a prayer, breath coming out in uneven pants as he began to swell inside of her with his own impending climax. 

He pulls back to hold her gaze, his good eye meeting hers. A tear treks over his cheek, she she leans forward and kisses it away. 

“I love you, too,” Levi breathes just before grunting and spilling himself inside of her. 

The sensation of his heat pooling in her middle sends Hange over the edge as well. She hides her face in his shoulder as waves of pleasure roll through her, He loves her, too. That her feelings are not unrequited isn’t much of a surprise, but it is a blessed reassurance all the same. 

As they collapse back onto the blanket Hange settles into Levi’s side, lips repeatedly pressing against the side of his neck. She gathers the blankets around them, cuddling into him as his arm winds protectively around her. They deserve this. 

Hange feels full, happy and sated. Levi is alive. They love one another. And for the moment that is enough.

What role do we play in this production we call life? To us, we see ourselves as the protagonist that discovers new beginnings, the hero of the story that seeks to do good and gain the love of the people. To others, we may be the faithful sidekick who works as a foil to balance out the hero or the love interest who has yet to realize their true feelings for whom they consider “the one” or perhaps the antagonist, the villain who causes chaos and stands as an obstacle for the hero to overcome and vanquish to restore peace and hey! We could also be a background character that’s familiar to everyone that they enjoy seeing cuz of their unique and aesthetic look. Whoever we are, we are all actors that move the story along until we reach the ultimate climax to see how this all unfolds. So who plays who in this eps story? Let’s see the cast:

*Queen Banana-The Françoise Dupont School is participating in a film making project that’ll be released in theaters for all of Paris to see w/ mostly the art club setting everything up and their teacher Jean-Pierre Monlataing (Hey! Look at that! He’s finally got a name! Yea!). Been wondering what his name was since “Reverser”. Nino writes the script, Alix paints the props, Marinette designs the costumes and the starring roles of the hero and villain are Zoe and Mylene, respectively.

Our (minor) antagonist, Chloe, hears about this and demands that she be the hero of the movie (despite refusing to do anything w/ it beforehand cuz she can’t stand everyone) over her, actual hero, half-sister, Zoe, just so she can get the love and attention form the people and cuz of her jealousy of Zoe getting top billing. Chloe has a**hole producer, Bob Roth, and her father, the mayor, fund it to which Bob goes along w/ since he only cares about the money and getting back at Marinette over what happened in “Silencer” and her father, Andre, going along w/ it, reluctantly. Poor Zoe is now demoted into staff as just the clapperboard person. She said in the last ep she was an aspiring actress (and “too good” of one pretending to be a b*tch) and now in her one moment to shine, she gets hooked off stage by Chloe! >:(. Chloe acts like such a prima donna that she constantly has the script change to her delusional fantasy (ex. a giant gorilla who throws exploding bananas) and w/ that, everyone gets annoyed and nothing gets done! Marinette calls out all this bullsh*t and encourages everyone (after Chloe leaves) that they should just film their original script so that they’ll get it finished and have all their talents get the recognition it deserves.

The film is released and everyone loves it except Chloe who’s outraged that it was done w/out her as the star. Turns out, Gabriel independently funded it and there was nothing Bob or even the mayor could do about it (Huh? So fashion designer Gabe is on the high scale of money over celebrity manager Bob and political figure Andre? Guess he’s more loaded ¯\_( ಠ_ಠ)_/¯). Chloe storms off and Adrien runs after her and says she should apologize for her outburst reminding her of how he said he’d stop being friends w/ her unless she started being nicer (“Despair Bear”) and this time, he means it! But Chloe demotes him from her faithful friend (and (only-in-her-dreams”) love interest) to just a meaningless extra in her life.

It was all a ruse w/ Gabe funding the original script not cuz he preferred it better over Chloe’s, but cuz he knew it would piss her off to get her akumokized (you know what? I know that I said in the beginning of my first review for Season 4 that I’m combing the word “akumatized” and “amoktized” cuz Shadow Moth is now unifying the butterfly and peacock miraculous, but now I’m gonna use the combo when he only uses the both of ‘em to give the akumatized villain an amok sidekick. I was once again led to a false hope of things :P. Not every single person he akumatizes gets a sentimonster sidekick!) as Queen Banana w/ her sinister sentimonster Santa given gift of that giant gorilla that throws exploding bananas named “Banana Boom Boom” (and a new car). You know, that’s exactly the kinda name a spoiled rich girl would give her pet gorilla. This is a rather stupid villain form for Chloe taken from her almost made script revision for the movie. It’s obviously a thinly veiled portrayal of her former super self as Queen Bee. Why bananas you ask? Well, she had to quickly think of something else that was yellow (like bees) and apparently Chloe “likes” bananas (full of potassium I know) and cuz it’s a metaphor for her being a “second banana” to Zoe. What’s stupider is Shadow Moth even let her keep that ridiculous, utterly ridiculous name! Her gorilla goon was alright and so was the car, but her name, look and theme was not :P. Her banana gun turning people into bananas I’m just “iffy” on. Out of all her akumatized forms, this gets 3rd Place. Her first, Antibug, being a polar opposite to Ladybug, was good, her second, Queen Wasp, was her evil counterpart to Queen Bee was interesting and her third, Miracle Queen, was just “Queen Wasp w/ a crown”. Lame! That’s why it’s last on my list. It’s like a running gag that Chloe gets akumatized once per season. Thankfully, Ladybug and Zoe trick Chloe into giving her an anti-akumatizing charm, so this will end (gets spoiled by a later ep), wait, what!?

Ladybug and Cat Noir need extra help w/ this one, so Ladybug needs to give someone else the bee miraculous, but who? Who!? Oh! Is it Alya! You know cuz Ladybug originally wanted her w/ the bee miraculous and-(bursts out laughing) I’m just f**king w/ you guys! (she’s been “banana-fied”!) I know damn well who’s getting it! It was no surprise! Everyone! (chuckles) meet the new bee miraculous holder! Zoe Lee! Aka Vesperia! (trumpets sound). Yes Siree Bob! Zoe is now a part of Team Miraculous after Ladybug cut Chloe off for her willingly evil actions in the Season 3 finale and taking back the bee miraculous from her. This is what made Chloe demote Ladybug from her “best friend” role to the villain. What she hated more was “a recast” taking her miraculous and being better than her.

Bomb #8 is, of course, Zoe getting the bee miraculous and becoming Vesperia. Although, could we really see this as a “bomb”? I mean, we were already spoiled by this before the season premiered so it’s not a “Wow! Holy sh*t!” moment if you ask me. It was still nice seeing the action of it play out though. Zoe picked up on this superhero gig quickly and even sacrificed herself to make the dynamic duo finish off Queen Banana. Now then, Let me continue where I left off on the whole Chloe and Zoe issue. Ahem! I can see that Zoe’s debut to the show has met w/ some praise and adoration and its cuz, as I said before, she’s everything that Chloe could’ve been had she completed her redemption arc:continuing to be the holder of the bee miraculous, befriending everyone and being nice! They just kept Chloe as the same old spoiled brat she was in the beginning, but why would they do that when they gave us Lila Rossi who’s possibly worse!? (even if no one, but the heroes and villains, know her true self). Is it cuz Chloe is still going through her redemption? Is there something she needs to do in order to get the proper character development she needs? I mean, we all thought Adrienette would happen already, but that ship is still docked and continuing to collect so much dust that it could be a museum piece at the Louvre! When I explained this complaint to my friend, she told me that, Quote:…….“redemption isn’t always straightforward; a person may fall time and time again, but with enough effort, redemption is not too far” Unquote. I don’t know if this was the writers intention to expand on Chloe’s redemption or if there were some creative differences since I heard Astruc wasn’t as involved w/ the second season as much as we thought he was, which is why the redemption didn’t happen, but my friend was right! If we were to see the previous two seasons together, it could be a long and struggling journey for redemption. In Season 2, Chloe showed vulnerability by admitting to Ladybug it was her fault that Ms.Bustier (“Zombizou”) and her father (“Malediktator”) were akumatized cuz she let her anger get the best of her and seeing this side of her made Ladybug feel Chloe could grow as a better person and gave her the bee miraculous. Sadly, this didn’t work as it only fed her ego and made her worse (she even made herself a tacky Batman -esque “bee signal” 🤮). Season 3, she resisted akumatization out of faithfulness to Ladybug (“Miraculer”), but she did it only for the glory of continuing to be a superhero. Same thing when she saw trouble and reassured people she’ll save the day (“Startrain”), not out of wanting to help them, but who that they’ll be witnesses to her “heroic” deeds. After one too many times of Ladybug ignoring her signal and even her parents getting akumatized together (“Battle of the Miraculous Part 1:Heart Hunter”), where she could’ve been needed! Chloe felt betrayed and this was used to the advantage of the villain to corrupt her into the dark side. Her horribleness reached new levels when she lost the respect of Adrien and her own father when she kept demanding Zoe be sent back to New York. The only people she has left are her mom, Zoe and her minion friend, Sabrina. What’s it gonna take for Chloe to change? Does she have to lose everything in order to realize something is wrong with her and actually make an attempt to be good? Okay, here’s your motivation Chloe (sits firmly on a director chair, takes a deep breath w/ their hands in a pyramid form to the forehead and breathes out. Points the pyramid form hands to Chloe). You are a rival turned possible major antagonist who’s too arrogant to believe you’re awful, but has the potential to be a well loved individual. The road to this is paved with the mess you left behind and when get to your destination, which isn’t the one you thought you’d be in the end, you’ll look back and realize you have a bad sense of direction and want to start a new and better path and need a “map” and “guidance”. Okay! Let’s see this play out! (grabs megaphone and screams into it) Action!

Hello everyone

Since the Produce series is now in shambles, I still continue to be survival show trash and would like some other mutuals to join my crackhead addiction. If you haven’t heard of Youth with You, it is the Chinese version of Produce that uses similar formatting. The judges of the latest season—which this time has girls competing to form a 9-member girl group—include Ella Chen, Jony J, Cai Xukun, and Lisa of Blackpink. Not only are the mentors astounding, but the participants are incredibly talented starting out that nearly all of them deserve to debut. In fact i would say it rivals with or dare I say is better than the original Produce series. In addition to this the show invites girls of different styles, weights, backgrounds, and androgynous looks making the show a lot more diverse and fleshed out from the typical female idol look. If you guys haven’t started it and are interested in something a bit more fresh to quell the pain of losing the Korean Produce series, I would highly recommend watching it. For those who are all caught up, please let us fangirl together over these competitors. Down below are my current top 9 and brief reasoning for each.

NOTE: It was very hard to pick a top 9 and honestly i would still rearrange this later on because it’s still too early in the game. I have way too many favorites for this season T.T. That being said I have no particular order for these gals.

1. Xiaotang Zhao

The girl is hilarious so don’t let her resting bitch face fool you. She is so friendly and easygoing and I love her don’t-give-fuck attitude and because of that she’s so real and open to her thoughts regardless of backlash. She’s odd, but there is no doubt that she is talented. She’s been dancing since childhood and her skill shows on stage. Not to mention she is pretty good at rapping.

2. Yan Yu

Another “cold” looking person. But listen I would risk it all for her. She is beautiful, her body is goals, she is actually a goofabll off stage, is really caring of her teammates, loves her family despite teasing them occasionally, and her vocals are P O W E R F U L. She has the most stunning expressions and the way she stares into your soul when she gets into stage character? *dies* Plus she has proven to adapt to any concept, be it serving that cold girl crush look or a more delicate cute style. I hope people begin to realize that later on in the season.

3. Babymonster An Qi

This right here. This little pepper? She is fiery. She has incredible dance skills and charisma on stage. She is goofy and loves to eat a lot and nothing warms me more than seeing trainees/idols just eat well disregarding strict diets placed on them. She is also great at getting her teammates to familiarize and better their dance moves and has great leadership quality in that field. She is well prepared and knows what she wants and goes for it, and with that I know she will debut.

4. Frhanm Shangguan

Ohohoho Frhanm Shangguan is indeed the W H O L E fucking package. Miss most competent girl of Youth with You Season 3. I still watch her audition clip religiously to this day. The girl can not only sing, rap, dance, and possess a stage like no other, but she redefines the idea of how female idols should look. She loves herself, from her weight to her hair to her overall confidence. She screams positivity, acceptance, and big sister energy. She believes all girls can do anything they put their mind too and she is such a hard worker and motivator for all girls in the season. I’m straight up calling it out right now that if she doesn’t get to the final lineup—preferably as the team leader— I’m going to yeet myself out the window. I feel like we’ve only scratched the surface of what this girl is capable of and I cannot wait to see her adapt to whatever is thrown at her.

5. Shaking (Xie Keying)

Here is one of your rappers y’all. This girl is such a ball of fun energy and charisma. It amazes me she is considered one of the rookie rappers of the season. Her ability to ride the beat and change her vocal tone is great. Plus her expressions on stage are killer. She really shined in the rap group battle and rightfully so. She is so funny and knows how to get along and make other participants laugh. She also has some really good vocal skills and I can’t wait for her to showcase them more. And I also must agree with Cai and Ella. They were right in giving her an A , especially over Lil Jeta 🙄.

6. Xin Liu

Another girl who redefines how a female idol should look! I love her androgynous look and I think it’s hilarious how vain she is when it comes to makeup. That aside I need to point out how her and others with this similar boyish look had the option of wearing shorts or a skirt and I’m glad she addressed it as it is part of her identity and makes her comfortable. This girl happens to be the theme song stage center and rightfully so! She can sing, rap, and is a killer dancer with popping her main forte. She exudes coolness and I know she will go far with her stage presence and hardworking attitude.

7. Kiki Xu

Gah what a cutie. Another skilled dancer who definitely proved that when she battled with An and Frhanm in the auditions. I thought it was funny when she struggled with trying to look cool for the dance group battles but then absolutely killed it with this girl crush look that made me think “oh my god STEP ON ME”. Whew but like really she is a great performer, but I really wanna see more of her vocal skills. Good luck to Kiki and I hope she can show more sides of herself through the season!

8. Snow Kong

See this queen? She is trying to learn to be more confident in herself and has shown how much she really adores the stage through her hardwork and tears. It’s been a while since she performed but she wishes to start new and give it her all. This girl is fun, loving, and has powerful vocals and rap skills. Plus her dancing is amazing. Just everything about her screams well-rounded idol material. She is a lovely visual and also gives me Sakura vibes. And don’t mess with her hair it will attack you the way she whips it like a maniac on stage. I also love her dynamic with others, especially Xiaotang and Esther Yu lol. Here’s hoping she will develop and astound us more through the later episodes.

9. NINEONE

Nineone is, to me, a dark horse like Yu Yan. She is a professional rapper so naturally her rap skills are the best this season. She knows how to take charge and level with teammates. She is another type of person who has clear cut goals and gets them done. Funnily enough she also has this childish and shy side to her that may come off uncharactertic to her considering her swag and charisma on stage, but I think it is so real and fresh. The final lineup would need another strong rapper that know what she is doing, and after seeing her audition I think she also has some fantastic vocal skills that I’d love to see branch out later on if possible.

Before she swallowed the lump that was in her throat while she turned to peer back into her childhood friend's fixated gaze.

Just as a light breeze swept through the air while she nervously bit her lip.

"W-what…what are you going to do Naoki?" Elle questioned in a timid voice as she glanced upward when Naoki wordlessly stood up above her.

Only to find herself shivering once again when the supersoldier turned to glance back down at her with an utterly frozen stare.

"I am going to kill her, her family and everyone else that she cares about. Even her little daughter. And that man Strados as well." The scarlet-haired girl declared in a monstrous voice as she grasped onto the railing with her right fist.

While the younger girl sat in a speechless quiet with her amber eyes gazing up in a combination sympathy and horror.

Just before she jumped in fright when the redhead abruptly began to crush the wooden railing beneath her powerful fist.

While the prodigy's brown eyes stared ahead with an unnaturally merciless gleam permeating her gaze.

"How dare she…how dare he…how dare they impinge upon me." Naoki remarked with her eerie smile almost wavering from her emotionless lips while her childhood friend sat in a taken aback silence.

"Naoki…" The blonde-haired girl whispered in an emotional voice just as she flinched when the railing crumbled into splinters beneath the supersoldier's clenched fist.

"I am going to kill them all. Every single last one of them. I won't stop until every last nation involved is rendered into a pile of ruins." The scarlet-haired girl announced as her fist fell back to her hip while her friend's eyes were now agape in shock.

And then she turned to gaze back down into her companion's speechless amber eyes.

While Elle audibly gulped once more while she gazed in a horrified silence up into the older girl's heartless eyes.

"And then Elle…then the world will know the power of my will." Naoki concluded with her hair swaying lightly in the winds behind her.

While she gazed down into the younger girl's perturbed amber eyes.

And then she turned away without so much as saying another word.

All the while as Elle now slumped against the railing with her haunted amber eyes now gazing in disbelief at the wall in front of her.

It was in that moment that she truly understood that the redhead was travelling down a road that was not for her.

And that it was time for to flow on her own once more.

Back in the present in the Forgetful Valley.

The four highborn women were making their way into the forest while the princess once more gazed down at their young friend's back with an irate golden stare.

"We need to hurry and find Naoki before she does something horrible!" Elle exclaimed in a lovable voice as she hurried down the pathway while Azula rolled her haughty eyes behind her.

While Ty Lee offered her usual smile as she walked beside the sighing Mai.

All the while as Zoe silently made her way down the path with her hazel eyes coldly keeping watch in the event of an ambush.

"Please! The more soldiers that girl kills the less work there is for us to do." Azula snorted in a pompous voice with her arms crossed over her breasts while her cold eyes never left her pet's back.

"I'm not talking about the soldiers Azula-sama. The soldiers…I can understand. Even though I can't stand the thought of anyone dying. And I get…why she is after the architects behind the facility…it's the other stuff that she has planned that truly horrifies me." The blonde-haired girl commented in a softer voice while her highborn friends turned to her with taken aback looks in their eyes.

"What…is she going to do?" Mai asked in a hesitant voice with her tawny eyes gazing at the younger girl's back while Azula let out an annoyed grunt as she stomped ahead of her.

"I…I don't know the full details. But I do know that she has p-plans to indiscriminately wipe every country involved in her enslavement off the map." Elle admitted in a shaken voice while her four companions nearly tripped over a tree root in surprise.

"And…. you gave her water?" The princess inquired with another snort while her callous golden eyes stared down at her young girlfriend's reddening face.

Although she wouldn't say it aloud.

The girl's plans were proving to be far more involved than she would think a former slave would be capable of.

"W-well I realize that it may sound strange. But she…. she saved my life twice. And I thought that maybe…if someone showed her some kindness then maybe…she might see that there was another way." The blonde-haired girl admitted in a sheepish voice as she grasped at the straps of her backpack while her friends listened in a taken aback silence.

"Your heart was in the right place Elle." Ty Lee stated in a sisterly voice as she frowned as she walked behind her little sister while Azula rolled her eyes once more.

She wasn't certain if the small act of kindness would actually amount to anything. Most likely not.

But it wasn't like the girl was going to die if Elle hasn't given her water.

She could see the merit in Elle's point of view.

In that it didn't hurt to extend a helping hand to someone in need.

"I…can't just be silent while someone does something so barbaric to so many innocent people. I could never. It's…. wrong." Elle muttered in a distressed voice as she chewed on her lip while her highborn friends nearly froze in their tracks once more.

The three noblewomen stood in a speechless silence before they turned to gaze at the princess's unusually rattled countenance.

Azula could only gaze on with her cold golden eyes widening in a barely recognizable startled expression.

While the words that she spoke in the war meeting with her father just over a week before meeting the girl began to play out in her mind.

 I think you should take their precious hope and the rest of their land and burn it all to the ground.

Her ruthless golden eyes gazed down at the shorter girl with her crimson lips parting into a rare look of startlement.

Only to recover not even seconds later as she pursed her regal lips into a beautiful scowl.

'She is just a peasant…no matter how fond I may become of her that is what she will always be.' The princess thought with her lips in a thin line as she let out a prideful snort of azure fire from her nostrils.

That wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

That isn't to say that she didn't like Elle. The girl had more than earned her place by her side.

But there was only so much that you could expect a peasant to understand of the complexities of living as royalty.

But despite her best efforts to tell herself that the girl was lesser.

She couldn't help but find her lips creasing together in an even deeper frown as she gazed down at back of her serving girl's lovely blonde head.

And yet all the same.

She still found herself worrying what the girl would think of her if she were to hear of their war plans on Sozin's Comet.

Not to mention if Elle were to discover the existence of slavery in the Fire Nation.

Her teeth clenched in a displeased manner as she stomped behind her handmaid while she turned to scowl off at the nearest tree.

Only to find herself torn from her reverie by the sound of her love interest's gentle voice once more.

"And….and that's why I have to try. Even if I can only offer words. It's…. what my mother would do. And so, I will do the same." The blonde-haired girl spoke in a passionate voice with a smile returning to her lips while she turned to gaze up at her taken aback highborn friends.

"Ugh. Foolish peasant." Azula scoffed with another egotistical roll of her eyes while Mai gazed at her in annoyance.

"That's so Azula-sama. That's just the way that I flow." Elle stated in a bashful voice as she padded ahead of the older girl while Azula gazed back at her with cold golden eyes.

"Aww. Don't be like that Azula. I think it's very sweet of Elle. Her aura is very pink." The brown-haired woman remarked in a supportive voice with wide smile while she patted smiling little sister's shoulder while the princess let out another snide snort.

"Honestly! Poor people and their peasant trifles." The princess huffed with a haughty smirk on her lips as she planted her fists on her womanly hips while her childhood friends gazed on in exasperation.

"You are such a self-absorbed ass Azula." Mai commented in her usual gloomy voice while Azula turned to cast a foul glare her way.

"A wise proverb once said that true wealth is not measured by how much money you have. But rather by the wealth of your heart. And my heart holds all the wealth that I need." The blonde-haired girl quipped in a lovable voice while her princess rolled her beautiful golden eyes once more.

And the other three women listened with fondness in their eyes.

"Well then. If that is the case then I will just stop paying you since you are already 'rich' at heart." Azula commented in a conceited voice with a smirk pulling upon her crimson lips while her young girlfriend pouted alongside her.

While she allowed her servant to walk closely beside her as they made their way through the thick trees.

And the two noblewomen gazed at the two in amusement while they resumed walking down the valley path.

Before the captain came to a stop with her hand bracing upon a tree trunk while the others paused behind her as they listened carefully for any indication of the enemy.

All the while as they heard the sounds of distant wildlife calls from the vast forest all around them.

While the four highborn women exchanged a careful look with one another.

Only for Elle's amber eyes to grow wide as she listened attentively with her lips ajar in alarm just before she rounded about to gaze urgently back into her friend's confused eyes.

"Everyone get down!" Elle called out in a panic as she leaped upon Azula's surprised armored back while she tackled the taller woman to the ground.

And without even giving it any though the group crouched down in alarm.

And not a second afterward the bark on the large tree that they were hiding behind exploded with splinters of wood soaring into the air.

Just as the captain swiftly dropped even lower with her hazel eyes now gazing over her shoulder in astonishment.

While the other three highborn women gazed on with widened eyes after seeing the noblewoman nearly get shot in the head.

"What…. was that Elle?" Zoe questioned in a taken aback voice as she knelt with her hazel eyes gazing back at the girl's alarmed face.

"I-I think that was a sniper rifle." The blonde-haired girl stammered in a shaken voice as she sat beside her much taller girlfriend while the princess gazed over her shoulder in unmistakable intrigue.

Azula's brilliant golden eyes now gleamed with recognition as she recalled witnessing that man Strados and the girl's brother use similar weapons earlier in her servant's memory world.

Before she shared a momentary look with her captain while the other woman stoically nodded as they turned back to their young friend's easily frightened face.

"A sniper rifle? Tell me all that you know about these machines servant." The princess commanded in a cold voice as she sat with her back against the trunk while her timid girlfriend quivered adorably below her.

While the unnerved Mai and Ty Lee squatted beside them while their eyes remained widened over the lethality of foreign weaponry.

"I…I don't know much Azula-sama. To make up for the lack of bending many hundreds of years ago people invented gunpowder which led to the invention of guns. Which fire high velocity projectiles faster than the typical human can react." Elle explained in a pant while her friends gazed back at her in an amazed silence.

"Gunpowder…" The markswoman trailed off in a curious voice with her tawny eyes gazing at her little sister's skittish face.

While Azula still sat with her golden eyes agape in interest as her gaze flashed with a power-hungry gleam once more.

"T-that's right oneesan. And we need to be very careful. Because a sniper rifle can fire from the other side of the forest." The blonde-haired girl spoke in a frantic undertone while she gazed fretfully back at her highborn friends stunned faces.

"From…. the other side of the forest Elle?" Ty Lee inquired in a startled voice with her brown-gray eyes agape in shock.

"Y-yeah. I mean I'm no expert but one wrong move and even the strongest bender will be bleeding from a hole in the skull." Elle informed in a worried voice while Azula's golden eyes flashed in callous fascination.

"What a fascinating machine. But I presume that they are defenseless once we close the distance?" Azula purred with her possessive eyes peering down at her pet's lovely face while held a contemplative finger under her chin.

"It doesn't seem that is going to be a simple matter." The captain commented in a stoic voice while she ducked down when another bullet tore through the tree trunk.

While the team gazed over their shoulders with cautious eyes as they listened attentively to the faint sound of rustling bushes in the far distance.

"I…didn't want to tell you all this Azula-sama because I know that you are so proud of your nation. And….and you have every right to be. But the war machines of my world…and the technology back home is…more advanced than that of the Fire Nation." The blonde-haired girl announced in a quietly hesitant voice while the four highborn women gazed back at her in a floored silence.

And then a moment of unsettling silence passed over them while the princess's imposing eyes lost their amused gleam.

And now in its place was a sense of boiling anger as she now glared down at her quivering serving girl's intimidated face.

"More advanced you say?" The princess nearly snarled out with the flames of war kindling in her terrifying eyes while her admirer shook under her glare.

"T-the majority of the world stopped using swords and spears with the advent of guns. Naoki is an exception…but that's only because she's a supersoldier much like you and Zoe both. I am sorry Azula-sama but it's the t-truth." Elle stammered in a gulp while Azula stared down at her with dominant golden eyes that made sweat drip down her cheek.

"Are you calling my army primitive Elle?" Azula demanded with the back of her head against the tree while she ground her teeth together.

All the while as another bullet pierced the tree above as the others listened with taken aback eyes.

"N-no I'm not. I am just trying to tell you that you are at a severe disadvantage at long range. And I just don't want anyone to get hurt." The blonde-haired girl assured in a mousy voice while her princess scowled from where she knelt over her.

"You shouldn't get mad at Elle for answering your questions Azula. You're the one who asked." Mai stated in her deadpan voice while Azula regarded her with a cold glare through the corner of her eye.

"We'll see who is at a disadvantage servant. And then you will learn what happens to those who doubt my strength!" The princess snapped as she jabbed a domineering finger in her trembling girlfriend's face while the noblewomen sighed heavily.

"I-I don't doubt your strength Azula-sama." Elle whimpered as her master's tall body sat above her while Azula's strict eyes sent a pleasant shiver down her spine.

"You better not peasant. Because I won't hesitate to punish you if you do." Azula growled out in a forceful voice with her armored form looming over her dainty girlfriend while Elle trembled against her side.

"I…am just saying that there are advantages to your soldiers not being able to bend." The blonde-haired girl replied as she fearfully kept her head low while her highborn friends rose their brows in curiosity.

"Really? And how is that?" The princess taunted with mocking laughter lacing her derisive voice while her golden eyes glared into the tree canopy above.

"W-well strong bending is based on genetics, right?" Elle asked in turn in a hushed voice while Azula rose an elegant brow from where she sat above her.

"Obviously Elle." Azula stated in a pompous voice yet she found herself gazing down at her serving girl in grudging curiosity all the same.

"Just think about it. They don't have to spend their time searching for people with a unique genetic ability. Instead they can simply find thousands of people like Mai that have keen eyesight…put a rifle in their hands and you have a deadly nonbender army." The blonde-haired girl remarked in a hastened voice while her friends gazed at her with understanding flashing in their eyes.

Mai gazed on with amazed tawny eyes while she mulled over the younger girl's words.

While the princess stared on with her ice-cold golden eyes once more taking on a fascinated look.

Before she turned gaze back at Zoe's composed face while the other woman stonily nodded her head.

"I see. So, your people have quite the efficient nonbending war machine." The princess commented in a callous voice with her glacial eyes already spying a strip of cover.

"If you can get closer, I am sure that you will have the advantage in close combat…but at a distance a gunman will always have the upper hand." Elle concluded in a timid voice while her highborn friends nodded their heads.

"We should listen to Elle. And proceed with caution." Zoe declared in a contemplative voice as she held one hand on the tree base while Azula's cold eyes gazed her way.

"P-please just be careful friends. I can't bear the thought of losing any of you." The blonde-haired girl mumbled in an apprehensive voice while the four older girls gazed at her with a flash of moved emotion in their eyes.

"Your council has been heard servant." Azula replied in a smooth voice with her cold eyes gazing down into her serving girl's brightening amber eyes.

Before any of them could say anything further another silenced bullet fired over their crouched heads.

Just as the two firebenders each launched a blast of flame over their shoulders in an effort to create a layer of cover.

And then Team Azula expertly sprang out from behind the trunk.

While Elle squeaked in surprise when Azula firmly seized her by the wrist before the woman unceremoniously threw her onto her armored back.

All the while as she let out a soft gasp while the mighty princess bolted out from behind her cover and quickly sprinted to new cover.

And despite their circumstances the acrobat found herself unable to resist smiling as she watched the princess sprint with the petite girl on her back.

While wood continued to splinter all around them as the highborn women rolled to a crouch behind a large boulder with their alert eyes rapidly scanning their surrounding area.

"A-Azula-sama." Elle stammered in a voice of limitless hero worship as she gratefully held onto her master's neck.

As she shivered pleasantly when she heard the woman release a low growl.

"These weapons…I want them. You will assist me in obtaining them." The princess spoke in a ruthless voice with her girlfriend's delicate hands wrapped around her neck.

While her two lifelong friends soon found themselves shuddering after they caught the gluttonous gleam in the princess's power-hungry eyes.

"I…I don't know how to do that. Naoki would know more about that than me." The blonde-haired girl answered in a loyal voice with her arms holding on tightly while her princess gracefully darted out once more.

All the while as she gulped as her master hurled balls of blue fire over her shoulders to create another burning layer of cover.

"Then you will obtain me Naoki. Is that understood servant?" Azula commanded in a controlling voice with her cold eyes gazing imperiously ahead while her handmaiden clung to her back.

"Yes Azula-sama. As you say." Elle agreed in a sweet voice as she hung onto her girlfriend's tall back while Azula's beautiful lips twitched into the barest hint of a pleased smile.

"The enemy fire seems to be coming from that way princess." The captain stated as she dropped down alongside her leader while the princess turned to follow her line of sight.

While they both gazed on with narrowed eyes into the far end of the dense forest in the direction of several cliffs.

Only for all of them to find themselves spinning their heads to the right when scream rang out into the valley air.

All the while as the ominous light continued to glow through the distant tree line.

Which was followed closely by the sound of a human body falling to the forest floor.

"I-it looks like Naoki is at it again." The blonde-haired girl muttered from her position on her master's back while the princess rose an elegant brow.

While the sounds of more gunfire went off in the deep forest as the team listened attentively.

"Then again. It would seem as if our young friend is already taking care of it." Zoe remarked in a nonchalant voice as she turned to face her monarch while Azula smirked in approval.

"How convenient. She's already serving me. She just doesn't know it yet." The princess purred in a haughty voice with her crimson lips now adorning a gratified smirk.

"Or she's more than likely just fulfilling her own vendetta." The markswoman said in a dry undertone while the princess turned to cast her a lazy glare.

"I suppose we should just follow her then? Right Azula?" The brown-haired woman pondered as she turned to her leader while the princess nodded her head.

"I should think that is obvious Ty Lee." Azula remarked in her usual pompous fashion as she bent over to allow her girlfriend to slide off her back.

And then the teenager slid off onto the ground.

Before the serving girl found herself smiling shyly when her master turned to stare down at her with her stern golden eyes.

"You stay behind me. Understand servant?" The princess commanded in a highly assertive voice with her regal lips pursed into a tight scowl while her servant rapidly nodded her little head.

Only for her pleased smile to nearly return when the girl speedily bowed at the hip.

"As my princess commands!" Elle chirped as she bounced from her bow while Azula graced her with a beautiful smile.

Just as she found herself yelping adorably when an annoyed hand pulled her up by the back of her shirt.

"Shorty. You can grovel to Azula when we aren't under enemy fire." Mai commented in monotone with a sigh escaping her lips while Elle turned around to smile up at her.

While Ty Lee giggled as she walked alongside them.

And the captain wordlessly pushed forward while she scanned the trees for further snipers.

"The last thing I need is for someone to put another hole in your feeble body." Azula snorted in a hubristic voice as she stomped ahead while her serving girl followed after her footfalls like a lost puppy.

While both of her childhood cast her exasperated stares.

"T-that's my princess right. She's a dream come true." The blonde-haired girl swooned with a hand on her fair cheek while big sister's sighed as they followed after her.

And her princess almost seemed to swell in height with a gratified smirk adorning her full lips.

"Of course, I am. I am a goddess after all." The princess huffed as she arrogantly studied her fingernails on her clenched fist while her young girlfriend's amber eyes sparkled in adoration.

While her two noble friends rolled their eyes outside of her line of vision.

"It seems as if the enemy fire has gone oddly quiet. Did she really get them all?" Ty Lee pondered in a confused voice as she glanced around her.

While the princess held a contemplative fingernail underneath her chin.

'I have to find a way to recruit this girl into my service. But how?' Azula thought with her callous eyes gazing ahead while she mulled over the matter.

"It doesn't surprise me. I mean…this is pretty much what they intended for her to do. They wanted a supersoldier capable of devasting a foreign war front." Elle stated in a soft voice as she held onto the straps of her bag while her highborn friends listened in rising fascination.

"And now that she is free. It doesn't seem like they are able to reign her in." The markswoman muttered in a piqued voice as she made her way behind her adopted sister.

"Well…and unlike us. She is trained in dispatching gunmen. And…I suspect that she took them down while their attention was focused on us." The blonde-haired girl concluded in a quiet voice while her companions gazed ahead in understanding.

"Please. I am more than capable of doing the same." The princess spoke in an arrogant voice as she strode through the vast trees with her cold eyes gazing ahead.

Only to find herself pausing in her tracks when she heard her captain call out to her from ahead.

"Princess! I found one of them!" The captain shouted from beyond a tree while the four rushed after her.

Just before the group emerged from the foliage with their widened eyes gazing down at the body of a slain female soldier.

The soldier lay slumped against the base of a rock while her lifeless eyes gazed back at them from underneath her broken helmet.

While Elle stood behind her friends as she gazed down at the woman's deceased face with saddened amber eyes.

"She's…. definitely dead." The brown-haired woman commented in an uncomfortable voice as she grimaced while gazing down at the lifeless soldier.

"How disappointing. I was hoping to catch one living." Azula remarked in a cruel voice with her arms folded over her armored bosom.

While she glared mercilessly down at the bloodied soldier with pitiless golden eyes.

All the while as the captain squatted over the fallen soldier with her hazel eyes gazing down at the woman's weapons in fascination.

"Such intriguing weaponry." Zoe stated as she took hold of the discarded rifle while she studied it from all angles.

While the princess bent over to scrutinize the gun with her callous golden eyes peering down over her captain's shoulder in grudging interest.

And even the markswoman and the acrobat found themselves unable to resist leaning down to inspect the weapon.

Only for their combined attention to be regained by their young friend's sensitive voice.

"It…doesn't matter what technology we develop. We'll always be a barbaric species…waging war and killing each other over trivial differences. What a waste of life." Elle mumbled in a somber voice with her sorrowful eyes staring downward while her four friends froze up in a taken aback silence.

And then she turned away with her hair shadowing her eyes.

While Azula gazed on through the corner of her cold eye with her crimson lips in a momentary expression of uncharacteristic emotion.

"Come on kid. You shouldn't be looking at something like this. You have already got enough on your mind." Mai declared in a thawed voice as she placed a sympathetic hand on the younger girl's shoulder while Ty Lee nodded in solemn agreement.

'Sentimental peasant.' The princess thought with her cold eyes glaring down at the slain woman.

Just before she let out an irate sigh as she shook her head.

But even so…

No other lover would do for her.

Only this little peasant was worthy of lying beside her in her royal chamber.

"Princess…check this out." The captain stated in a bewildered voice while the royal woman turned back to gaze down at her with curious golden eyes.

While the princess's golden eyes grew wider in returning wrath when she found herself staring down at a photograph of her servant.

All the while as Zoe stared down with her hazel eyes agape in wonderment as she studied the photo in poorly concealed awe.

It was a photo of Elle confined to a holding cell with a foreign classification that stated as follows.

 Subject Number 101.

"What…what is this? It's so…lifelike." Zoe breathed in an absorbed voice with her fingers grasping at the photograph while Azula pursed her lips into a protective snarl.

"Elle says that it is a photograph. It is a peasant invention from her homeland that captures an image of a moment frozen in time." Azula answered in a cold voice as she stood back up with her golden eyes staring frigidly down at the woman once more.

And just like that.

Any small shred of pity that her serving girl's words could have invoked in her was swiftly squashed.

"A photograph...of Elle." The captain trailed in an unusually fixated voice as her monarch seized the item out from between her fingers.

Before her hazel eyes took careful note of a second photo protruding from the fallen soldier's breast pocket.

Just before she reached forward to grasp it to hold it up before her astonished face.

It was an image of the scarlet-haired girl in detainment.

And once more its label was in a foreign language.

 Subject Number Three.

The princess gazed down with her golden eyes flashing in growing interest in the redhead while she exchanged a look with the older firebender.

Before the two turned their heads when they heard their young friend hesitantly stepping back around to face them.

"A photograph of me?" The blonde-haired girl inquired in an uncertain voice with the two noblewomen following her line of sight.

That was when her amber eyes caught sight of the photograph clutched in her princess's fist.

Before her widened eyes turned to the photograph of the redhead in the warrior's palm.

While Mai and Ty Lee's eyes also grew wider after taking notice of the photographs of the two girls.

And not a second later the photograph of Elle in custody went up in azure flames while the princess turned her rigid eyes back to her shaken serving girl.

"It's nothing for you to worry your little mind over." The princess spoke in a possessive voice as she marched back to her shaking girlfriend's side.

"We should keep moving." Zoe remarked after regaining her composure as she stood up with the rifle still in hand while her comrades nodded their heads.

Only for all four of them to turn to their young friend in concern when they noticed the way that the girl's eyes had wide in alarm.

"I-it's me and Naoki that they are after…but not only that..." Elle stated in a distraught voice as she swallowed the lump that was in her throat while she gazed at the dead soldier with widened amber eyes.

Just before she spun around to gaze back into her princess's perceptive golden eyes while the older girl met her stare.

"This is a military operation to capture resources from an untapped new land!" The blonde-haired girl exclaimed in a fretful voice as she stepped up to gaze up into her master's seething golden eyes.

While the four highborn women gazed at one another with a newfound alertness in their widened eyes.

"Capture resources…from my kingdom." Azula hissed with her teeth ground together in her boiling fury while her burning fists balled up at her womanly hips.

'They have some nerve to try to take what belongs to the Princess of the Fire Nation!' The princess thought with blue fire snorting forth from her angry nostrils.

Before she turned her possessive eyes back to her pet's lovely face while she spewed fire from her pursed lips.

This transgression will not go unpunished.

And that was a promise made in fire and blood.

The five girls gazed back into each other's eyes while they dwelled over the intentions of the invading military force.

But before any of them could get a chance to speak another word.

They were torn from their reverie when they all felt an instantaneous change in the air.

Just as they spun around to find their eyes growing even wider when the forest started to grow dark all around them.

"A-Azula…what's…happening?" Ty Lee called out in a frightened voice as she backed up beside her scowling friend while Azula glared about with cold golden eyes.

"The rock…look at it…it's a face." Mai informed in a stunned voice as she gazed at the rock that the dead soldier sat against with widened tawny eyes.

The others followed her gaze until their eyes grew wider when they saw the face marking that now adorned the previously unmarked stone surface.

"It's…just like we saw when we entered the forest." The captain commented in a taken aback voice as she gazed on with marveled hazel eyes.

Just before she turned around with her eyes widening marginally when she noticed ominous facial markings appearing on the trees that surrounded them.

"Is…this a spirit of some kind?" Azula demanded in an unintimidated voice with her cold eyes glaring about while her young girlfriend scurried to her side.

"T-the animals Azula-sama." Elle stammered as she pointed upward while Azula followed her finger.

Only for the princess's eyes to flicker in surprise when she saw that many wildlife creatures were now glaring down at them with glowing eyes.

And upon all of their backs were facial markings as well!

"It seems so. And if I had to guess I would say that our presence angers it." Zoe spoke in a stoic voice with her hand falling to the hilt of her sword.

"Show yourself! If you think this little show is enough to frighten the likes of Princess Azula then you can think again!" The princess bellowed with her clenched fists still burning in blue fire while her timid girlfriend backed up against her.

While her two childhood friends visibly flinched as they gazed at her in reproach.

Only for a disembodied voice to call out at them from every direction while the team gazed up in alarm.

"Get out! Get out! Get out!" The ghostly voice commanded from every direction while the five girls listened in bewilderment.

All the while as the incorporeal voice continued to repeat the order with even more anger than the time it was spoken before.

"P-Princess." The blonde-haired girl stuttered just as she was yanked forward by the princess's possessive hand.

"Do not deviate from my side peasant!" Azula ordered in a voice of absolute authority while her servant girl fearfully nodded her head.

"Y-yes Azula-sama." Elle agreed in a shaken voice as she hid beside the older woman's much taller frame.

While Azula glared up with unyielding golden eyes as her fists lit up with azure flames.

All while the voice continued to grow louder and louder.

While the four wary highborn women and their frightened handmaid backed up into a defensive circle.

"I said get out!" The phantom voice roared from all around the speechless females.

There was a moment of silence before the princess broke it with an arrogant scoff.

"No." The princess sneered in a voice of limitless arrogance while a defiant smirk found its way to her beautiful lips.

What followed after that was another unsettling moment of quiet with a tension so thick that you could cut it with a sword.

And then not a moment after that.

All of the spirit creatures sprang from their perches with their teeth bared and their eyes aglow.

While the team sunk into their respective combat stances.

And then not even seconds later the spirit animals besieged the cornered group from all sides.

And soon enough the shouts of Team Azula rang out into the eerie forest as they fended off the possessed animals one by one.

"There's so many of them!" Mai shouted in an irate voice as Azula clenched her jaw line with her burning fists poised to ruthlessly strike down a forest creature.

Only for the princess's cold eyes to twitch in aggravation when delicate arms pulled on her bicep in protest.

"N-no! Please don't hurt the forest creatures Azula-sama!" Elle cried out in a gentle voice as she pulled on the older girl's sleeve while Azula's imposing eyes now glared down at her.

"Oh, I'll do more than hurt them. I'll barbecue the little dears for dinner." Azula snapped with her lips forming a beautiful glower while she yanked back on her sleeve.

While her golden eyes glanced down in annoyance into emotional amber eyes.

"B-but the forest animals princess." The blonde-haired girl pleaded in a distraught voice while the acrobat smiled from over her shoulder.

"Ugh! This is really pathetic Elle! I hope you know that." The princess snarled with unbridled aggravation in her callous eyes.

"S-sumimasen." Elle stuttered with a twinge of pink to her cheeks while Azula let out a pompous scoff over her.

And then not a moment later the flame in the princess's fist burned out while the monarch's lips pursed into an angered scowl.

Before she swatted away a winged animal with her fist.

While the serving girl smiled in gratitude at her master's tall armored back.

And both the captain and the markswoman sighed quietly before they struck at the possessed animals with restrained force.

"She's such a little sweetie Azula." Ty Lee commented with a grin as she swiftly chi blocked the wild animals while Azula rolled her eyes over her shoulder.

"I said leave!" The ghostly voice yelled out with great anger while the team gazed about the darkening forest with taken aback eyes.

Only for the mighty princess to release another conceited scoff while she rolled her golden eyes.

"And I said no. I have business here spirit. Now I suggest you get out of my way. I have more important matters to attend to than dealing with…whatever it is that you are." Azula spoke in an unbelievably smug voice with a smirk on her lips while her childhood friends sighed heavily behind her.

"What Azula-sama means to say is that we mean no harm and we come in peace!" The blonde-haired girl chirped from beside the much taller princess while the older girl rolled her eyes once again.

"What she said!" The brown-haired woman exclaimed in a cheery voice while the teenager beamed up at her.

While the spirit creatures continued to drop down with their eyes aglow as the four highborn women dispatched them one after another.

A plethora of unconscious animals now lay on the ground before them.

All the while as the princess turned to glare down at her servant in annoyance while the younger girl smiled gratefully up at her.

"A-arigatou gozaimasu Azula-sama." Elle stammered in a lovable voice as she touched her hand to the older girl's robed arm while Azula scoffed over her.

Before Azula turned her cold eyes away to glare at the nearest tree.

While she tried to squash the tiny blush that was growing on her cheeks when the teenager shyly took hold of her arm.

Only to find herself torn from her thoughts when she heard something large step onto the ground behind her.

And then the entire team turned around to face what was behind them only for their eyes to grow wide in surprise to find themselves standing in a tall shadow.

Standing over them was an enormous blue wolf with the same bizarre markings upon its white fur covered chest!

The beast snarled with its imposing fangs bared while the taken aback group took a cautious step backwards.

"That's…a big wolf." The markswoman said in a wary voice as her boot slid backward while the acrobat wisely did the same.

"It…must be some kind of spirit wolf." Zoe stated with her hazel eyes gazing up in amazement while she held out her katana in a defensive stance.

"I don't care what it is. I'll destroy it!" The princess spoke with her frigid golden eyes glaring up at the growling spirit while her fists lit up in blue fire.

"Hello! My name is Elle! What's your name!" The blonde-haired girl greeted in a sweet voice as she took a step towards the giant wolf while her four companions gazed on in unease.

"Elle! Stay away from that filthy beast!" Azula barked in an overbearing voice as she stomped forward to pull her girlfriend back.

"Elle…it might be best if you listen to Azula. That wolf looks really dangerous." Ty Lee remarked in a worried voice while gazed up at the large wolf with wary brown-gray eyes.

"Aren't you a beautiful wolf! Eeep!" Elle squeaked as she cried out in surprise when a giant paw swiped over her head.

Before the young girl tumbled to the ground on her backside while she gulped as she gazed up at the massive wolf's saliva coated fangs.

And that was all it took for her four friends to spring to her defense.

Within seconds the princess and the captain were already standing over the downed handmaid.

While the spirit wolf's paw slammed into the ground with rocks exploding in all directions.

All the while as the markswoman and the acrobat quickly jumped backwards to avoid the animal's swing.

"Foolish peasant. I told you to stay back." The princess snorted in a cold voice as she glared over her shoulder at her serving girl's reddened face.

And then the wolf spirit lunged towards them with its red eyes narrowing in anger.

Only for a vast wall of blue fire to arise forth from the earth while the others covered their faces from the intensity of the heat.

While the powerful princess stood behind her veil of flames with her imposing golden eyes staring hard up at the wolf's snarling teeth.

Just before the large wolf took all of them by surprise when it opened its mouth wide as it began to inhale the blue flames!

While the princess's golden eyes grew wide in disbelief as she watched the wolf spirit swallow her flames whole.

All the while as the team stared on in shock as the wolf gulped down the flames that was followed up shortly by an unceremonious burp of smoke.

"It…ate your flames princess." The captain stated in a stunned voice with her hazel eyes blinking in curiosity while her ruler scowled beside her.

"I can see that Zoe!" Azula snapped with her callous eyes narrowing up at the wolf spirit as it forced its way through her eroding wall of fire.

And then the entire team tensed up as the wolf spirit lunged through the blue fire with its fangs bared as it glared down at the serving girl's intimidated face.

Before it finally sprung at the teenager with its clawed paw poised to attack.

While the two firebenders hardened their eyes into a cold stare as they stood protectively over their young friend.

And then just before the wolf spirit could even complete its strike.

The four highborn women spun around with their eyes agape in surprise when a faint light flashed outside of the corridor of their vision.

And then the wolf spirit immediately froze in its tracks.

All the while as they now turned to gaze back at the young girl in astonishment.

Only for their eyes to widen when they saw that their friend was laying on the ground with her aura dimly aglow once more.

"I-it…activated again…" The blonde-haired girl stammered in a perplexed voice as she gazed down at her palms with awestruck amber eyes.

While her four friends stood around her with their jaws ajar in surprise.

Before they turned back to the spirit wolf only for their amazement to grow even greater when they saw that the animal seemed hesitant to resume its attack.

"Just…like back in Yoko's dungeon." Mai muttered in a stunned voice as she stood behind her little sister with her tawny eyes gazing down at the girl in fascination.

Just as the creature took one step back while the group gazed on between the young girl and the spirit in marvelment.

"Incredible…it seems that the spirit is afraid to approach Elle now that her power is in activation." Zoe commented in a taken aback voice while her sword fell back to her hip.

While Azula gazed down with uncharacteristic surprise in her cold golden eyes at her serving girl's confused face.

All the while as the old sage's words replayed in her mind once more.

 The spirits have become alarmed ever since you tapped into your dormant chi. Your power frightens them.

"The spirits are afraid…of my tiger monkey." The princess spoke with her beautiful lips already curving back into another pleased smile.

"Way to go little sister! You're learning how to use it!" The brown-haired woman cheered as she bent down to pat the seated girl's shoulder while the teenager flushed in embarrassment.

"But…how do I turn it off…" Elle trailed off in a confused voice as she chewed on her lip while she glanced up at the wolf as it backed away.

Just as the sound of Azula laughing roaringly broke into the air as they turned to gaze in puzzlement at the royal woman's amused countenance.

While the princess stood with her hands over her armored stomach as she ruptured into belly shaking laughter.

"Splendid! You should fear us! Because together she and I are going to conquer this planet!" Azula called out in a sadistic voice with a cruel smile pulling at her crimson lips while her childhood friends shivered behind her.

While the handmaiden sat peering up at her master's tall back with adorably infatuated amber eyes.

And then not even seconds after the smiling princess swiftly sprang forward as she directed a vast stream of blue flames at the wolf spirit's startled face.

Just as the animal opened its mouth to consume them once more while the monarch continued her calculated assault.

Only for a hint of white embers to appear in the midst of the burning azure fire while the group gazed on in awe.

Before the wolf spirit's eyes widened in surprise as began to lap at its lips in alarm when the heat began to get too intense for its liking.

All the while as Azula's red lips twitched into a pleased smirk.

And then the wolf jumped back in startlement while the team stared at their leader in amazement.

"As I suspected…so there is a limit to how much of my fire you can eat in one sitting." The princess purred with a haughty smile upon her lips while she slid one boot back along the ground.

And then she swiftly began to generate her lightning with two fingers from both palms held together.

While the noblewomen and the handmaiden gazed on from behind her in wonderment.

"Well then…how about this for dessert!" Azula shouted in a prideful voice with a ball of lightning churning in between fingertips.

Just before she pursed her lips into a regal snarl as she threw the ball of lightning at the startled wolf spirit.

Only for the creature to abruptly turn tail and run away!

All the while as the princess stood proudly smirking with her smoking hands lowering to her womanly hips.

While her companions gazed on speechless beside her.

"T-that was amazing Azula-sama! You chased it off!" The blonde-haired girl cried out in admiration while she gazed on with hearts in her eyes at her master's smugly smirking face.

"Humph. Of course, I did." Azula huffed as she arrogantly flicked her bangs as she posed with her left hand on her shapely hip.

"Yes. Well done princess. Your power is truly something to behold." The captain stated as she sheathed her blade.

While she glanced around with observant hazel eyes to note that the darkness was now vanishing from the forest.

All the while as light shined through the dense trees once more as the taken aback group watched the glowing eyed spirit creatures retreat into the tree canopy above.

Just as the disembodied voice floated through the breeze and into their ears for a final time.

"Leave this forest…. spirit slayer." The phantom voice ordered as it faded away while the teenager girl swallowed as she gazed on with a twinge of hurt in her innocent eyes.

While the four highborn women turned to gaze back at their young servant in fascination once more.

"S-spirit slayer? I-I'm a spirit killer?" Elle questioned with sadness in her sensitive voice while her shaken hands grasped at the grass below her.

It was a stunning question that the entire team was pondering.

"It's okay Elle. Everyone here knows that you're not a killer." Ty Lee assured in a gentle voice as she knelt behind her upset little sister.

While the young girl gazed off into the distance with uncertainty in her amber eyes.

"I…hope not oneesan. I really do." The blonde-haired girl mumbled in a bothered voice while the acrobat held a supportive hand to her shoulder.

Only for the sound of the princess's delighted laughter to flow into the air once more while they all turned to gaze at Azula's violently smiling face.

"This is just as it was meant to be! Fear me! And fear my servant! For together we are the strongest couple in this entire world! And soon I shall take my rightful place as the goddess of all life! And then I will dominate this Earth!" The princess announced in a maddened voice with a deranged smile adorning her lips while she held out her fists at her hips.

And then the entire forest momentarily turned so quiet they you could almost hear the sound of crickets chirping in the background.

While the three noblewomen sweatdropped as they gazed back at one another.

All the while as their leader stood proudly with a maniacal grin adorning her beautiful lips.

"H-Her Highness just said that w-we're a couple." Elle stuttered with a hand on her dainty cheek while she once more found herself lost in Azula's overpowering golden eyes.

"So, I did peasant." Azula spoke in a refined voice with a regal smile upon her crimson lips while she observed her serving girl swoon adorably under her gaze.

"O-ooh my beautiful princess charming." The blonde-haired girl gushed in a lovesick voice as she stood up with a blush on her lovely cheeks while her princess smirked back at her.

"There is nothing that can stop us now Elle. Our victory is imminent!" The princess boasted in a smug voice with her fist clenched before her smirking face while her young girlfriend smiled up at her.

While the two noblewomen stood up as they shook their heads in exasperation.

All the while as the captain stood unfazed with a flicker of amusement in her hazel eyes.

"It is probably best for us to continue our survey on the enemy princess. You can always boast your heart out to Elle another day." Zoe commented wryly as she resumed her walk while Azula rounded to cast her a moody glare.

"Watch your tongue Zoe. Only I may give the orders in this expedition." Azula scoffed in a snobbish voice with a hand on her hip while her noble friends just sighed as they followed after her.

While her serving girl trotted beside her with her amber eyes once more gazing up at her in adoration.

Still…the encounter with that wolf spirit was curious to say the least.

It was almost as if the spirit had come for the sole purpose of testing Elle's ability.

Only to flee when it did not like what it found.

'And now that something belongs to me and me alone.' The princess thought with her lovely lips entrenched into a graceful smirk while she gazed down at her pretty pet with possessive golden eyes.

'Is my power…really meant to kill spirits?' Elle thought with a frown on her lips while her amber eyes gazed away in contemplation.

If so. Then that would be wrong…wouldn't it?

 No living being has the right to take the life of another.

Her hands grasped at the straps of her backpack while she tried to avoid letting her discomfort show.

She could tell that her princess was greatly pleased with this new development.

And the last thing she wanted was to disappoint her master.

And not even a second later she was torn from her reverie by the sound of a guttural shout while she gazed up with a distressed look in her eyes.

While her highborn friends glanced in the direction of the distant portal light with alert eyes.

"I guess we're going that way." Mai stated in a deadpan voice with a grimace adorning her features while Ty Lee suppressed a shudder beside her.

"Indeed. And it would seem that we are not the only ones who have drawn the ire of the spirits." The captain spoke as her hazel eyes gazed through the tree canopy while another eerie breeze blew through the air.

"Whatever. Let's just track down that girl already. Elle, come." Azula commanded in a spoiled voice with a snap of her fingers while her childhood friends stared at her in disapproval.

Only for her lips to curve into a smug smirk when she heard the sound of the young girl eagerly rushing after her heels.

"Yes Azula-sama!" The blonde-haired girl cried out in a devoted voice while the older girl sauntered ahead of her with a confident smirk on her lips.

While she once more found her eyes drawn to the princess's swaying hips as she audibly swallowed down her apprehension.

A detail that hadn't escaped Azula's notice.

All the while as the three noblewomen watched wordlessly as the peasant girl scampered after the princess.

Before the two vanished into the brush while Mai let out another annoyed sigh.

And then they soon found themselves following all the same.

This has been in my inbox since last December and I didn’t wanna mess up Eiko’s character so I took my time w this, doing my research and all that. I hope I didn’t mess this up and I apologize in advance cuz it’s me and I probably effed something up. I changed how the prompt is used i hope you don’t mind, it just fits the course of the story. Once again I’m sorry and enjoy.

It was a scorching hot summer day; perfect for a day at the fair. The sky was dotted with a few candy-floss clouds. The entrance could be seen in the distance and the long queues edged forward slowly. People were becoming increasingly excited and impatient as they took a few steps forward every so often. Faint music could be heard from beyond the tall gates with the occasional happy scream suddenly piercing the air. Closer to the entrance and the massive structures of the rides could be seen: a rollercoaster, a big Ferris wheel, a helter-skelter. Below, kids stood watching, eating their sweets and snacks. Ice creams wobbled perilously over the cones and dripped down their small fingers as they melted from the summer heat.

Eiko and Selena walked in hand in hand with Zoey trailing right behind them, as she admired the fair and occasionally screamed about the space-themed games, all the while both Eiko and her mother would smile and encourage her to try the rocket launch wheel.

After running around all day, from one booth to another stuffing their faces with every cheesy fair food there is and after Eiko won a stuffed bunny for the little space princess (that’s Eiko’s nickname for Zoey) at the ring toss, to which Zoey decided to name Saturn (it was her favorite plant because it has 62 moons). On their way to the rocket launch wheel, they bumped into Alma and Levi.

Selena pulled Alma aside near a ring toss booth,

“Hey, I know this might not be the right time and this probably your day off, but can I ask you for a favor ?”

“Point me to the body and it’ll be gone before you know it.”

“What no that’s-“

“It doesn’t matter now it’s gone and yes I’ll be your alibi.” Alma winked at her friend.

Giggling the mother gave her friend an eye roll.

“I’m kidding. I’m kidding. Unless there is a body and In that case of course. What can I do for you babes?”

“Never change Alma, never change. So anyways I wanted to take Eiko on a Ferris wheel ride you know trying to do this whole romantic thing and I’m kinda gonna drop the ‘L’ word and maybe.. kinda of.. sort of.. ask her to be my girlfriend?”

“The ‘L’ word? You mean Lesbian?”

Shoving playfully at her friend’s shoulder, Selena laughed.

“Alright say no more, Levi and I were headed to the hall of mirrors we’ll happily take Zoey with us. Go ahead do ya thing. I ship you guys so hard. GO!”

After saying goodbye to everyone and making sure that Zoey was okay with this, the two lovers went on their way hand in hand once again.

The line was a bit long at the Ferris wheel, but it was good a thing; because it gave Selena time to rehearse what to say to Eiko when they would be up high in the sky. This also spiked up her anxiety level to an impossible rate. I mean there she was about to ask this magnificent, beautiful, brilliant, breathtaking woman to be her girlfriend. after the hell she went through her whole life and recently with the custody battle you’d think she could face anything by now, she’d fear nothing. And for the most part, it was true. yes, she had no fears anymore well maybe one fear... what if Eiko doesn’t feel the same? What if she says no? What if she wants to keep it casual ... all these thoughts and what-ifs raced through her mind as she took a step forward into the line. Soon enough it was their turn.

The rest of the people in line got into the other empty carriages, and the operator started up the ride. Selena and Eiko’s carriage pulled up into the air.

As they sat side by side Selena was muttering the courage to take the first step and just come out and say it, but all she could think about was how close they were. Their thighs were almost touching, and that small, one-inch space seemed to be electrically charged. She has been with Eiko multiple times they have been dating for a while but they’ve never been this close and it drove her wild, her heart almost leaped out of her chest.

From this height, everything seemed so small–so far away–but Eiko was right there, so close to her. The rest of the fair, the rest of the town, the rest of the world, was just a backdrop behind her. All the people, the rides, the sounds, they all blended into the background, it’s like time froze at that moment.

The air was cold; a slight breeze blew through Selena’s jacket and lifted a tuft of Eiko’s hair up. And even though she was a hundred feet in the up in the air, with the whole town below her, that didn’t faze her at all. What made her stomach flip was the sight of the brilliant woman sitting next to her. 

Being with her made Selena’s heart bump at the speed of light, being in her presence sent heat traversing through her body, being with her took her breath away. The sky was full of stars. The fair was full of light, and the young brunette was more certain than before that she was absolutely in love with one doctor Eiko Matsunaga.

The wind blew past them again, carrying with it the faint smell of candy apples and the distant sound of people cheering, and Selena knew that this was the right moment.

“Hey, Eiko,” she started, looking out a the fair around them. “I have to tell you something.”

Her breath caught in her throat,

Trying with all her might to steady her beating heart, she took a deep breath and held on to the hem of her top for dear life.

“What?” the brilliant doctor whispered turning around a bright smile on her face.

“I, uh, I don’t know how to say this, oh dear god,” Selena stopped again letting out a shaky breath this time.

Eiko watched as her date tried to find the right words. all the while trying her hardest to keep from erupting with happiness.

She knew what Selena was trying to get at because she felt the exact same way.

“IM IN LOVE WITH YOU!” The brunette blurted out practically screaming.

A few seconds of silence went by and Selena wished the earth would swallow her whole.

When suddenly Eiko erupted into a fit of laughter “I’m melting, I can’t take it you’re too cute.”

The young doctor reached over for one of her soon-to-be-girlfriend’s hand; interlacing their fingers and closing in the space between them. No amount of stars or lights in the night could compare to the brightness Selena saw shining in Eiko’s eyes.

The young brunette let out a relived sigh, feeling like the weight of the world had been taken off of her shoulders. They both kept eye contact with each other, neither of them moving, both only inches apart.

“I love you too.” Eiko smiled, closing in the short distance between them, keeping her eyes closed mostly in fear of how strongly her heart was beating.

Their lips met, and the world stopped.

All around them, the fair faded away. There were no lights from other rides. There was no music. There were no other people. The stars didn’t even exist anymore. It was just them in their own little piece of infinity.

Selena felt as light as a feather. If not for the warmth of Eiko's lips, she would’ve thought she was floating, already high above the fair, past the stars, somewhere in a milky way.

They pulled away from each other, both with their eyes closed too, savoring the moment, and stretching their little infinity a bit longer. When Selena opened her eyes, she found Eiko staring back at her, making her stomach do backflips.. hell at this point it’s a full-on acrobat team down there.

“So does this mean I can call you my girlfriend now? Because I’ve been dying to get matching t-shirts.” Selena asked with a huge smirk on her face.

“Yes to the girlfriend part, and how about matching helmets so whenever my beautiful, sexy, smart, wonderful girlfriend would need a ride home, we’d be prepared.”

Blushing crimson at the way the word ‘girlfriend’ left Eiko’s lips, Selena nodded in content.

The Ferris wheel started moving again and startled Selena who had forgotten where they were entirely.

Sitting back against the seat–this time with no space between both of them beamed with joy, and for the first time in their lives they were blissfully happy.

13: ghosted

Emma wanders down a busy virtual street, barely able to keep her jaw from hitting the digital concrete.

She had been expecting a video game, something with pixels and glitches, but what was in front of her seems so much more real. It's almost disturbing.

Skyscrapers are tall, as she has known them to be in the real world. But here, they are round, and they aren’t perfectly straight--they are shaped like an off-balance layer cake. And the lights shine so much brighter. Holographic advertisements cover surfaces. Except, she notices that they’re not for Chipotle or cars, they’re news spots. 

“The death toll in the state of California rises to 12,000, a 200% spike since last week” 

She sees that holograms are delivering news from the real world. 

A car zooms way too close to her, and she jumps back--shaken from her stupor. Well, it looked like a car. However, it has no wheels. Emma smirks to herself at how Madison would react: “I’m already aware that the Camaro is a piece of shit, I don’t need these turbo spaceships to rub it in my face even more.”

Emma marvels at the size of the city and the people around her. Some of them are talking on devices like the one she was handed on the beach--though instead of holding it to their ears like cell phones, it’s at more of a distance from their faces and projecting holographic video. Some people are walking in groups, conversing in a very familiar way. Some people are staring straight ahead, alone, like Emma.

Where is Isabel in all of this? And where to even start looking?

Emma thinks to herself, if she has one of these devices, her sister must have one too. There’s gotta be a way to track her.

“Thanks for nothing, Mason.” Emma mutters to herself, trying to figure out the odd contraption in front of her. She went from being intrigued by this guy, to fascinated, to absolutely fucking pissed. After she finds her sister, she’s gonna find him too. And get some answers.

Emma sits down on a bench on the side of the road, reviewing her device. While very high-tech, it’s surprisingly straightforward. She finds an option to search for other players, typing “Isabel Bradford.” 

While exact coordinates aren’t provided, a green dot appears on a map of the city.

Night sits at his desk, staring at his computer screen in front of him.

He’s trying to repress the feelings of guilt that are buried in the back of his mind. Sugar will be fine. He probably left right after Night did. And anyway, Night wouldn’t have left him if it wasn’t important. He’d be having a grand time cutting class even if he was in jail. Night keeps telling himself this.   

Night seems to be playing Universe without wearing a headset, merely with a 2-dimensional view of the game. This version looks older and simpler than the version that Isabel and Emma are playing on--most likely the original from the 80s. 

Night stares at a map in the game and sees the red dot representing Emma lingering not far from the beach. 

*ping*

He keeps forgetting to turn off external notifications, ugh. Oh. He’s just received an email from his teacher, and the beginning of the message is shown in the notification…

“Hello Night, checking in on your absence…” 

Teacher would be surprised that he wasn’t there. It’s not like him to miss class, or really to do anything unruly or “wrong.” Night is expected to come and go quietly, to be somewhat odd, but overall non-disruptive. Like a ghost. 

At some point, he couldn’t remember when exactly, his education had become arbitrary. He saw what was going on...building was all that mattered. All classes had been shifting their focus and slowly morphing into one industry. If you can’t code, you’ll get left behind. If you can’t contribute in one specific way, you’re disposable.

At the beginning of this school year, it had been announced that graduation from the Academy would be pushed forward one year. The board gave the reason that young people were spending too much time sitting in classrooms, gaining information they had no need for, when they could have the opportunity to “get started in life.” 

Some saw this as exciting, but Night knew what it really meant. There were whispers. This change was not for the benefit of the students. It was not so students could be free, it was so they could be put to work. 

Well, Night has no intention of falling in line with the others who mindlessly build. He craves other knowledge, other opportunities. And he believes that the right person can help him achieve this. Her. It’s time for a disruption. 

Night sees the red Emma dot begin to move on screen. She’s walking through the streets now, heading towards the school.

The blinking dot with his name on it stalls in place. He settles into his chair for the search. 

He’ll just have to meet her there.

In Zoe’s bedroom, Julian sits in a chair on the opposite side of the room from her bed, where she and Gabriel are sitting. They are at least 6 feet apart, properly socially-distanced. 

Julian’s wearing a bandana that’s covering most of his face. Which is great for Zoe, who kinda despises the sight of it.

“She’s not answering any of my calls or texts. I want to know what’s going on.” Julian says to them, with his trademark entitled tone. 

“Well, there’s a reason for that…” Gabriel starts. But Zoe hushes him. 

“Gabe, we’re not telling him anything. Not unless it’s necessary to protect Emma, which it sounds like it isn’t. Julian, ever considered that she’s ignoring you because you cheated on her, broke her heart, and are generally kind of a scumbag?” Zoe’s temper is rising. 

Julian doesn’t like this. He laughs condescendingly. 

“What the hell is so funny? Wait why haven’t I kicked you out yet?”

“You think Emma’s hiding from me? You don’t know anything about what she’s hiding. Hate to break it to you, but you don’t know her like I do.” 

Zoe’s about to respond, but hesitates. This dude IS a pathological liar, but, why does he sound so convincing…

“You’re lying. As per usual.” Zoe’s smart, she knows that the best way to get a manipulator to spill his guts is through manipulation. She rolls her eyes, for effect. 

“Tell me what’s going on, or you’ll regret it.” 

“You don’t know shit, Julian. We don’t negotiate with terrorists. There’s the door. Buh-bye.”

Julian stands up out of rage. Right on cue. 

“Did she tell you where she’s going next week?” Julian spits out. Bingo. 

“Um, yes, obviously.” Zoe’s lying now, but her genuine curiosity is making it difficult. Meanwhile, Gabriel lies down on the bed and rests his head on a pillow--withdrawing from the conflict. 

“Yeah fucking right. And you know how I know you’re full of shit?” 

“Please, enlighten me.” 

“Because if you’re as good of a friend as you pretend to be, you would have tried to stop her by now. But you haven’t. And I don’t think it’s because you’re not some fucking psycho weird sisterhood obsessed, I think it’s because Emma didn’t trust you enough to tell you that she’s going to start a new life. With me. And far from you.” 

Zoe sits, stunned. Julian is a bona fide liar, so why was she even dignifying this with an iota of her energy? He’s the one who’s full of shit. Obviously. 

Unless. Well, there is that constant curiosity that lives quietly in the back of her mind. Emma had grown a bit different over the past few months. The four best friends knew everything about each other, to perhaps a sickening degree, but yet...there were so many hours of Emma’s time that weren’t accounted for. Not that she isn’t entitled to those hours. But Zoe does wonder. 

“I...um…” Zoe starts.

“She’s leaving. And if you think you have any chance of talking her out of it, you better help me find her. Otherwise, you might just never see her again.” 

“Her phone is broken. That’s why you haven’t heard from her.” Gabriel says softly. 

They both turn to look at him. 

“How do you know that?” Zoe asks.

He takes a few deep breaths. “Because I was with her when it happened. We broke into Best Buy because she needed gear...it was to help her sister somehow...Madison was there, she knows more than I do…” 

And that’s all he has to say. Julian has heard enough to head to his next destination. He briskly walks towards the door. 

“Hold on a second, what happened to working together?” Zoe asks. 

Julian sighs a fake sigh. 

“I think what’s best for Emma will be to have as clean a break as possible.” 

He leaves and shuts the door behind him. Zoe groans out loud, furious. How could she have listened to this monster??

But then again, there’s a part of her that needs to know if what he’s saying is true. She has so many questions… Why would Emma want to leave? Why couldn’t she be honest with her best friends? What happened to Isabel? And where is Emma now?

Zoe lies down next to Gabriel and wraps her arms around him. She thinks to herself about how there were so many bad guys out there, and she had somehow scored one of the few good ones. She feels blessed yet torn apart. 

“Zo, I feel like hell.” he says. 

Zoe realizes the heat of his body, and puts a hand to his forehead. Burning up. 

She can’t let her mind go there. 

“Don’t think about it Gabe. You haven’t seen anyone except me. Okay and Emma and Madison for five minutes, but you were totally safe, weren’t you?” she asks, starting to panic. 

He doesn’t respond. 

“Gabe?”

“Well yeah, the only thing I can think of is…Madison wasn’t wearing a mask.” 

* * * 

Emma keeps walking. The Isabel Bradford dot is getting closer and closer. 

She’s in such a state of disbelief that it will take a lot to shock her even further at this point. 

What will she say to her sister when she sees her? Hi, what the hell is going on? Why is your limp body chilling in our house? What are you doing here?

Isabel has been acting so weird lately. But then again, her family probably thinks the same about her. They’re probably wondering why this emo introvert is even more emo and introverted than usual. Or maybe they aren’t wondering at all. And it’s the lack of wondering that has driven her to run away with someone who may or may not love her.

Where is Julian now? The eternal question. Although one that has plagued her a bit less over the past couple of days. It’s legitimately insane how much has happened in that time. 

And what of Mason? 

Her blood began to boil. Emma has been massively fucked over by a guy before, and she feels that it’s unacceptable for this to become a pattern. Julian cheating and lying and manipulating...ok she can chock that up to a learning experience. Right? Ehhh. But if two guys play her in a row, well than she’s a bigger fool than she could have ever imagined. And she deserves what happens to her.

For a moment, Emma marvels at the fact that somewhere, she is in a closet on a pile of laundry. She can feel no trace of that reality, only absorb every hyper-realistic facet of what’s around her. She continues on these roads that only exist on a hard drive but feel solid under feet.  

Once Emma finds Isabel, who probably knows her way around this game, she’s going to force her to help her find Mason. Like a, “I saved your life, now you owe me one” type of situation. Hopefully Isabel will see it that way.

And soon, she’ll be able to ask her. 

According to the map on her device, she has arrived at the school. 

It’s quite tall--taller than any school she’s ever seen before. It looks more like the other buildings around it than a place where young people would typically go to learn. But this is a game, so, she’ll roll with it. 

But how to get inside..? Like is there even a door? Where’s the front? Hm. 

Emma rounds a corner, and realizes that this is definitely the front.  

Glassy, a giant arch over massive front doors, seemingly thousands of quotations inscribed on the reflective material. It’s somehow modern yet historic. It’s incredible, and Emma is utterly entranced.

“Emma?” 

Emma has a near heart attack. She is abruptly pulled from her stupor by a voice behind her, a smooth voice that says her name like it’s familiar. 

She turns around to see a boy around her age. Dark hair, slim, ghostly.

first meeting w/ misty

reader here is the same as in the other ‘first’ headcanons I did for Misty! but this one give y’all some context for them (i’ll tend to use this reader for upcoming Misty scenarios if i’m not told otherwise!)

UH what a beautiful morning to discover how it all began

actually, it was Cordelia’s thing that you two met

from a few months, she has been thinking about making Misty an active part of the council so she can step back a bit and focus in just being the headmistress and the supreme and maybe rest

Misty has been doing God’s works teaching botanic to the girls long enough

so Cordelia decided to bring Misty with Zoe and her to pay a visit to a bakery in San Francisco where she thinks there’s some magic stuff going on

Misty is so excited???

she is always up for an adventure

so she pretty much expend the whole trip being curious

is not that she traveled further than Lafayette - New Orleans or New Orleans - her shack so

however, when the time to go to the bakery arrives, she tries to change into her ‘professional’ persona

aka regular Misty just bouncing in her legs nervously bc she is refraining herself

they arrive to the bakery a few minutes after the opening so is pretty much empty

the place is pretty cozy and smell like heaven, soon her nervousness drifting away as the fresh baked goods start to flood her sense

it’s really alluring

and soon she finds herself in the counter, ready to try everything

‘good morning sweetheart, how can I help you?’

Misty kind of believe in love at first sight

and waching you, this stunning clerk with a tray full of fresh baked stuff in their hands, smiling at her as if she was the only one in the world

what a hopeless soul she became in a matter of seconds

‘uhmmm Z-Zoe? D-Dee?’

wow Misty Day such a flirt

not even a ‘oh yes’ nor a ‘no thank you’

just plainly starstruck and asking for help

hearing you laugh kindly at her, because you are used to shy people coming to your shop, soothe her like no tomorrow

and then she feels it

at first she had mistaken the calm feeling as the overall aura of the place

however she felt your magic all over the bakery as soon as you put a hand in hers while you place the tray with your skilled free hand in the back counter

‘i’ll make you my special rose tea and give you one of these good boys’ you sign towards the steamy cinnamon rolls ‘you’ll feel good as new afterwards’

then Cordelia arrived by Misty’s side and she literally have a stroke right there because

‘Y/N!?!??!?!?!?’

‘CORDY!?!?!?!?!’

Zoe and Misty are like freaking out inside and outside

not only bc you two seemed to know each other but because it’s weird to hear someone that isn’t Madison call Cordelia ‘Cordy’ and with such endearing tone

it seems that Cordelia and you attended the Academy at the same time, just you a year or two below her

soon the four of you are sitting in your little office in the backstore 

and Misty can’t take her eyes off you because

a) you literally ‘shine’ which is an odd treat among witches

b) you keep shoving samples of your pastries to her 

c) your magic is tugging at her own without realizing as if the most natural thing

‘dear you should come to New Orleans and teach at the Academy’ Cordelia has the most relaxed smile on her lips since forever, all because of the special tea you mentioned earlier ‘we are a bit understaffed’

‘i don’t think i’ll be of much help-’

‘i bet you would be the greatest help with all these teenagers around’ your eyes are in Misty when she talks, her mouth a bit full of pastries ‘you bake like a goddess of the baked goods’

GOOD LORD WE STAN ASSERTIVE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD MISTY DAY

Zoe is literally so relaxed that all she could do is giggling like an idiot

and you are blushing like crazy

and Cordelia kinda looks at Misty like ‘what an absolute unit’

but at the same time she isn’t really sure if you are gonna fall accep-

‘okay! i mean i can eventually reopen my bakery in New Orleans :))’ your chuckle makes your magic send a funny vibe all over the room ‘it’s only lil’ ol’ me in here so who’s gonna stop me’

Misty can’t help her proud grin the rest of the time

listening Cordelia talk to you about what you could do at the Academy, what were you doing using your power in your cookery to help people relax and enjoy their day more, and some more talking will be done later that night over dinner

when y’all say your goodbyes for the time being, your hand lingered a bit more holding hers, and look at Cordelia as if you realized something

you were still holding Misty’s hand though

‘wait a second Cords, i’ll pack up some stuff for you for the day, do you all  like bagels right?’

Misty believes in love at first sight yeah

but also believes in love at first bite

and after trying one of your bagels...

...well

she was pretty much glad to live off those the rest of her life

Not only that, but our threads have been some of my favourites, with the more light-hearted threads between Zoe and Jarvan being so incredibly adorable, and the darker threads between Jarvan and Caitlyn being very fun too.
