that's a tricky one. i think the most plausible answer would be that they knew ever since they were kids. like, it just happened for them, yanno? :) they place so much trust on eo, so y wouldnt they share these wonderful feelings at the first chance they can get? whispered under their kitchen table, sharing a bag of chips and chilling, feeling like forever. or just stowed away in their bedroom, unanimously agreeing on their future. the just knew in that sense :) for sure they r not the types to keep secrets to eo

-and even if they did already know such feelings were wrong for example ૮꒰/ฅ//ฅ//꒱ა i believe they'd still confess it, if only so their brother could help them. they trust each other that much. judgment? between these two? :) come on, now-

in the case of confessions, i think it's a toss-up on who catches feelings first. somehow i think it's kudari who'd be the first to say something bc he lacks a filter moreso than ingo. plus, i dont think ingo would be the type to realize such feelings at a young age. like, he'll have the same attraction towards emmet but he'd just assume it's his usual urge to spoil his baby brother or something. so he would just.. not notice it as soon. idk how to explain it but yeah :3

it's a mixed opinion haha. i mean beside @akirasdigbick's nori, i don't think i like imagining them w children? dont get me wrong, i go nuts for dad!nbr, like srslyyy one of the hottest characters in an au ever :') but i usually like stuff that r as close to canon as possible unless i get sold on it.

n i especially don't like it when it's the 'x adopts y' format where y is a canon character in the game. the reason in particular for this one is that emmet gets left behind in these kinds of fun :P the dad!ingo agenda sells by the dozen w a multitude of characters from both pla and bw and suree i see it, but it doesnt rly interest me ever since again, no emmet XP wc is a shame bc if emmets anything like me, kids would follow him around constantly

ingo will always pull him aside and be verrry strict w him ofc n emmet would make a saucy joke or two if he wasnt as pale as a sheet, sounding like one too w the way he whistles between his breaths.

ofc ingo wouldn't stay mad for too long and inevitably just sigh and help emmet relax by filling a hot bath w some great salts and warmed chocolate moomoo milk and all the marshmallows. they have a tub big enough to fit both of them in, ingo would massage his back n chest and at first they'd just talk abt their day -complain snark n rant even- until ingo once again whispers for emmet to take care of himself, pleading between kisses on his shoulder blade to wc then emmet would finally just cry :'))))))

Hi!!

I just wanted to ask some advice from one butch to another.

I recently got my dream job of being a warden on a nature reserve (and i love it!), while interacting with people there I get called a young man very often (i am 18 lol) and it gives me euphoria to know im masculine enough to even pass as a man. I've also had some volunteers ask if I was a man or not (despite my feminine name).

But recently I got called a "lady" outside while out with my mother. It drove me INSANE I cried alot.

Don't get me wrong I do identify as a woman but I hate being seen as a lady.

I've even thought about using he/him pronouns recently and changing my name but i'm too scared to as most people won't understand bc im still a lesbian.

Is this strange?

This is an easy answer because I was 18 once and looked enough like a teenage boy that I got "hey sport" and "hey young man" all the time, especially when in my work clothes. I worked for The Mayor's Youth Corp in Iowa City in the summers of my 15th and 16th year. Mom and Dad let me get a work permit AND bought me a used Datsun Pickup so I could drive myself the 20 miles there and back each day.

I was a volunteer with the Corp of Engineers youth from 14 to 16 and Dad knew I was super excited about this job. Mom was not thrilled that I wanted to cut my hair but my "grand mullet" was really hot under the hard hat in the summer heat of Iowa. (in the 1980's boys and girls had the short in front long and permed in back look) We compromised and I cut the sides really short. (photo of my me at 16 in my uniform for reference)

Using "he" would never have occurred to me because "EWWW Boys". This is not to say, however, that I hated being mistaken for a boy, on the contrary, it felt good. When someone thought I was a young man it meant they treated me as such. They didn't talk down to me, I knew they assumed I was capable and willing to get dirty. I knew unconsiously that along with the mistaken identity came many perks. This was nothing I analyzed but little girls see very early on the difference in treatment they recieve from their brothers, male cousins and neighborhood boys. This difference leads us to become negotiators to control our circumstances and not entittled to treatment based on our skills and actual personalies.

When an adult recognized me as a boy, even for a second at first glance, I knew I didn't have to prove myself. They, for an instant, assigned to me words like "strong, capable, demanding etc". No negotations required.

When someone realized I was a girl they literally had a change in their face. They smiled at me, softened their voice. When I was called "young lady" or "Miss" it always seemed to be backed my the worst assumptions (in my mind anyway). Lady is steeped in all kinds of traits I didnt want assigned to me. "quiet, weak, likes to dress pretty"OR "motherly, submissive, meek" Nothing good in my teen brain, that is for sure. Lady felt so OLD, so married to a man and reliant on him for survival, so polyster pants and ugly flats and scratchy blouses with a flower imprint. NONE of these things are inherent to being a woman or even socially forced on us but that is not how things work sometimes. Words that describe people get stereotypes and myths and traits attached to them all the time. Woman and girl are no different.

I can tell you, the best feeling in the world when I was in that job was when my supervisor, who damn well knew I was a young woman, trusted me with all the same tasks as the boys. Who valued my opinions and abilities equally to the young men. He took time to teach me what I didn't know, just like with them and didn't assume I couldn't or didn't want to learn things on the job. He didn't shame ANYONE for not being strong enough or for getting tired or needing a break.

Don't let the assumptions of others force you into another box of conformity. You don't need a boys name or to use any pronouns you don't feel connected to just to please others. In fact, none of that effort will change perceptions of those around you. I can promise that one day being called Lady will just be another word that you can hear and know it does not change your personality or your interests or control the hope you have for your future. What does waste a lot of time and energy is trying to adjust things in your life to fit incorrect or snap assumptions about you as a person. You can never control the thoughts of those around you but what you can do is stop worrying about it and enjoy YOU.

You have a job you love and are sure to thrive in. You are solid in your sexuality and love of women, you are in a unique position to possibly change the perceptions of others when they think of "young women". Your interactions with the public are sure to effect the assumpions of at least some people when they think of young women and their roles in our society.

Congratulations on your new career and I bet you rock that uniform.

Remember when he wanted to save his moon?? yeah? cool cause ill never forget that actually.) KC dying actually WOULDNT have been so bad (aside the... suddenly being an ass about it. But he was direct to bloodmoon about 'BRUH UR BEING USED.' and them never actually... bringing that up too much) angering BM enough to kill KC is actually pretty solid way to use the whole 'Bm not satisfied with Killing' as a very direct way KC's words last on BM especially BM's whole unstable emotions of NOT understanding the feelings theyre going through because of that other than anger (denial, grief, confusion and conflict of how Hurt that mustve been they wanted more family) oh this is getting long and im losing focus.

you and mansk have been working together simce the first day in your navi body, although u werent close youd always be assigned together by the colonel. mansk was a very quiet man, he never really spoke unless he needed to, he isnt shy quiet hes just focused quiet. hes always very secretive, no one really knows much about him other than his close friends. evenn though hes quiet he speaks wisely and thinks before he speaks, unlike lyle that doesnt process a word before it splats out of his mouth. you could say me and mansk were friends. but not friends like FRIENDS were like working partner type of friends and we never really spoke outside of missions and work.

youd always notice mansk staring at u in the lunch hall, you honestly kind of have something for mansk, he makes me feel weirdly comfortable, just his presence is enough to make your day a good one.

Quaritch calls u and a few other members who included mansk."listen soldiers, i think i have an idea of where jake sully might be"

lyle stared at quaritch "how so colonel?"

quaritch makes eye contact with lyle and replies to lyles question "ive got a signal hes somewhere nearby, in the area we suspected him to be in a few weeks ago which means hea probably around here somewhere, we have a mission to complete, get ready and hop onto the helicopter, ill be there waiting"

you stare at quaritch and quickly run to your room which luckily isnt too far away from the meeting room, you wnter ur room and put on some armour. you didnt change your shorts though because youd be pretty useless for this mission and youll probably be askes to stand around somewhere, u didnt change because u doubted getting hurt when ur not allowed to do anything. you clipped ur chest armour on and quickly tied ur hair into two braids.

you quickly sprinted to the veichles room which had some of the helicopters and found that everyone has already arrived, you questioned how they did it but theres no time to spare, so u hopped on and strapped yourself to a seat while your tail went back and forth because of the excitement u were experiencing, the excitement of capturing jake sully and being over wirh quaritchs dumb hide and seek game with sully.

the helicopter has been in the air for 20 minutes now, no one has spoken the entire ride and it was all silent other than the helicopter noises, quaritch broke the silence, he had to scream so you and thw others would hear him ontop of the helicopter noise "ALRIGHT, Z DOG, LYLE, ME N' JA, WERE GONNA LOOK FOR SULLY. MANSK AND Y/N STAY BEHIND AND GUARD THE HELICOPTER" mansk stared at quaritch, you didnt know if he was staring at him because of his shades but u think hes looking at quaritch, mansk lets out an amnoyed sigh, you couldnt quite hear it but u could tell it was an annoyed one.

the helicopter was finally starting to land, you were going deaf from the loud helicppter noises even with the headphone things you were given to cancel out the noise, the helicopter hit the ground with a large thud and the engines were starting to slow down, everyonr was unbuckling theit seat belts and you did the same unbuckling your own.

your the last one to leave the helicopter after mansk, you were all outside now and quaritcg repeated "Y/N and mansk stay with the helicopter and gaurd it incase some navi bitch tries to destroy it, me and the rest are gonna go looking for sully because hes around here somewhere" he said with a blank expression

you and mansk have been standing next to the helicopter for around 40 minutes and it was getting really boring you havent exchanged a word with the man next to you and your both just staring into no where

suddenly you hear a noise in the trees around u. you and mansk both jolt up holding your guns towards where the sound was coming from, after a few minutes you put your guns down thinking it was just a gust of wind

you look to your right and there was a pandorian creature sprinting at u, it had claws, claws that looked like they could decapitate an entire human head, it was speeding at you. you let put a little "uhmmm" and mansk looks your way looking at the creature speeding towards u holding up his gun. it was already too late, the creature attacked your legs with its huge claws before mansk shot him. he was teying to scratch your chest but thankfully you were wearing the armour you put on earlier. you stared at your leg, then at the dead monster, then at mansk. mansk was already rushing towards you, you stared back at your now red legs from blood. mansk leans down to where you are on the floor "are yoy okay? that looks bad" in a shaky scared voice, you reply to his question on the verdge of crying from pain "u-uhm, yeah im fine but my leg clwarly isnt" theres tears building up in your eyes now. mansk leans down to look at the huge cut caused by the monsted on ur leg.

"i should fetch the first aid kit till quaritch and the rest get back because we cant leave them here" says mansk, he hops into the helicopter and grabs the first aid kit, he leaves the helicopter again sitting on the floor next to you, he lifts ur legs onto his thighs.

he gets some iodine to clean ur wound incase it gets infected, he puta it on a little cotton pad and rubs it all over youe wound. it kind of stung but u werent gonna complain because he was trying to help you after all

he finally wraps. ur bleeding legs in white medical wrap to try and stop the bleeding. the white wraps quickly turnes into red ones from thr amount of blood yoy were losing, it was a very deep cut and you were worried it might get infected.

"thanks for helping me i really appreciate it" you said with a smile plastered across your tear stained face "we shoukd probably call the others youre bleedimg too much and jake isnt really worth letting you die, we can get him later"

he holds up his walkie talkie typa thing and says sometjing into it, your too light headed to focus of anything he says. suddenly, everything went dark

you wake up after passing out, you arent on the ground anymore, your back in the helicopter with someone holding you in their lap, you slowly open your eyes to look at whoever was holding u. you were shocked to see it was mansk, mansk always seemed like a tough guy that wouldnt help anyone if it didnt benifit him, he stared down at you and smiled

you closed your eyes hoping youd wake up from your 'dream' just to find that ur still in mansks arms wrapped tightly, the helicopted landes and you could omly tell it did because of the large thud it made, quaritch had already called the medics to wait till you arrived to prevent further bloodloss

you were wuickly rushed into the small hospital, the mediics quickly unwrapped your leg and cleaned it while another one of the human medics was getting a huge needle ready to stitvh your leg before you lost too much blood' you looked to you right and saw mansk sitting on a chair next to the bed you were layed on, they stitched up your legs which was a very painful and long process, another nurse came into the rook you were in with a blood bag of your blood type. mansk stares at you, he keeps staring for a few minutes

"sorry about not killing that monster earlier, we should have looked around a bit better, im glad your okay though"

"thanks mansk, its not your fault, we killed the monster in the end though so its okay"

mansk smiled at you, he got up from his chair and walked over to you pulling you into a long warm hug, you quite enjoyes the hug he gave you, it was out of no where though youve never seen mansk hug anyone or look at anyone in the way hes always looked at you, it made u feel a bit special because you knew it wasnt a bad type of stare

after that day you and mansk bece closer, youd always hangout. work out together, eat together, and he quickly told you more about himself, you were quite surprised he actually did it because hes never told anyone that you know any of this type of stuff about him.

it was raining outside and you were sitting next to mansk on a sofa, you were both laughing at something on your tablets (phones but theyre big so they could fit navi hands) suddenly mansk put his arm around your shoulder pulling you a bit closer to him than you expected, you stopped laughing and  blushed a bit and mansk noticed it, he started rubbing your shoulder so he could see if he could make u blush any further, you stayed like this for a few minutes until mansk finally decided to speak "your enjoying than hm?"

you throw ur head down and look down onto your lap, you didnt want to show him how much you were blushing, thsn suddenly a warm hand grabs ur chin and turns it up and to the side, you try to fight back but yis grip is too strong, you find yourself staring at mansk, your faces were too close, he was repeatedly stearing at ur eyes, then your lips, your eyes, then your lips. he did this a few times until you spoke up "what are you doing?" mansk leans closer to your face waiting for premission to press your lips against his, you closed your eyes and he took it as a sign he could kiss yoy now.

he leans in and your lips touch, this was your first ever kiss, it felt bettee than what you expected it to feel like, you never thought mansk felt this way

he pulls back and hesitates for a second, then he says "i love you" staring at you with a soft facial feature, you then grab his shades and pull them off his face, youve only seen his eyes twice before this

he had the most gorgeous yelliw eyes, he looked sinilar to quaritcy but his facial features are so much softer than quaritch's.

you realize youve been staring at him for about a minute now, you hug him tightly and he hugs back, his body language telling you hes happy you gave him a positive response.

he pulls away from the hug first, "ive been meaning to tell you tjis for a while now, Y/N ive liked you for so long" i reply to his words "me too.."

honestly every and anything can be a tool for self realisation and actualisation. idk that i have an original take on how to build self esteem & confidence, but everything ive written on here regarding my morning routine, the books i read, documentaries i watch, the questions ive answered, all of thats is a part of it. its also mindset. what works for me may not work for you, but feeding yourself encouragement, carrying a candle of light within urself when the world is dark & tryna dim ur light, doing things that make u uncomfortable but bring u closer to the person ur mind and heart show u u are, those r all steps toward being able to express urself without fear or embarrassment etc.

i've been writing since i was around 11-12. obviously i had written before that for school and shit, but that was around the age when i started to have an interest in original stuff.

i've only started taking writing seriously for around 2 years, though, so since i've been 14. since i started taking it seriously, i've had a sudden jump in improvement-- mostly because it also coincides with the moment i realized what kind of writing i want to have.

my style itself wasn't all that impressive when i was like, 13-14. which is to be expected! but i think even in my writing from that time, you can kind of see the direction i wanted to go in, which is vivid description.

when i was 15 i finally realized what i wanted to do with my style, which was description. i like describing things. a lot. if u read the stuff i reposted i think u can see that, but i was still a little fledgling at it-- i used some words that i didnt really have a full grasp on, which is still a little sin that i continue to partake in... but you can't blame me ok, words r just so pretty and i need to use them all </3

ive actually only been writing fanfic since 2021 lol, before that all i wrote was self-insert stuff (still yandere, of course). the reason i started my [old] blog was because i was reading stuff on tumblr, and im pretty sure it was specifically a yandere childe post, and his characterization annoyed me so bad i decided to do it myself 💀 before that, the only fanfic i had written i think was like... 2 pieces, one about an interactive fiction game and the other about omniscient reader's viewpoint vxbfubfbg

idk what in particular led me to developing my style as it is now-- i kind of just try my best to make sure my readers can imagine the way the characters feel as best as possible. ultimately, the way i want my writing to be is i want people to kind of fall into it. i want someone to pick up my writing and feel the things the characters feel. i want someone to read my writing and be able to place themselves in the moment, and, for particularly my blog, i want people to read my writing and to feel loved. when someone tells me they got tingles from my writing its literally some of the highest form of praise, like!!!!!!!! if ur trying to seduce me it's working JUST SAYING...

oh boy time to revisit the days where i didnt know what fanfic was!! i think technically my first fanfic was. sfge fic. i had a whole canon compliant story about a pair of twins, the daughters of the girl and boy from the snow queen fariytale, one had fire powers and the other water, the water one went to the school for good and the fire one went to the school for evil. they both got into the trial by tale and watched (ohgod what were their names) bane kill the good kid from woods beyond. uh yeah i had fun working out all their gifts and stuff, i had a lot of characters planned n shit i should see if i can find the word docs for that. as per usual the middle of the fic was very. hazy in the middle

sigh i cant believe im writing this all again... sobbu. anyways, this is for the curious with too much time on their hands, or if your name is alberto and you asked for some damn lab equipment explanation for some damn reason thinking this type of equipment can be concisely explained in a few words without context. that kind of explanation is not gonna happen, i dont think its possible. if you wanted a concise explanation ur welcome to look at the meme and do a 180 and walk away because welcome to class. This is gonna be lengthy, have pictures, and many links whenever and to wherever i feel like. and will not be deleted by mistake this time. (hopefully)

For context, i work in a bio hazard safety level 2 microbiology pathology lab at a fairly large (approaching 1000 bed) hospital so everything i explain will be with that frame of reference, ill even toss in some personal anecdotes for when ive had to use this stuff myself whether in the lab or as a student, ok? Onwards--

1. Hand saunas

putting aside the fact that this is the second time im writing a fucking paragraph about gloves. They’re gloves. They can be made out of various things, in case someone is allergic to whatever its made out of that i cant be half assed to look up. If someone really doesnt like gloves or if theyre allergic to latex u can wear these cotton ones that you can then put normal gloves over.

2 of my coworkers use them. idk i asked one of them once if it was for allergies or if it was for easier removal of normal latex gloves and they quickly told me “neither” and walked away so there’s that. he’s not very nice. i dont like that coworker a lot.

If you work in a lab gloves are a staple, you always want these babies on, people touch keyboards mouses and phones with gloves on lol. And when you wear gloves and get up to do things your hands are of course gonna get sweaty, but because youre manhandling (exaggerating, kinda.) infectious fluids all day youre gonna want to change them fairly frequently (universal precautions? hello?) I wear like 10 pairs of gloves at once when i have to run covid tests that are gonna be ran on the Genexpert or biofire whatever machine that poops out a turnaround time depending on the severity of the infection but thats getting off topic and we’re talking about gloves and lemme tell u when you have sweaty hands and try to put on a new pair of gloves its like putting on a wet pair of pants and it Sucks.

2. Piper bois

These are pipettes. They come in many different sizes and are meant to dispense extremely accurate volumes of fluid. amounts vary from mililiters to microlitres (microliters use the greek symbol mu as their measurement so we would write “uL”)

They can look scary sometimes

wow only $1699 how affordable. most modern pipettes come in the $1k price range. not that anyone cares but the description mentions that these pipettes are meant for PCR tests which are the same kind of tests we run on covid samples. i know a chick in the back of the lab that uses a pipette that looks pretty close to pic related. she uses it for covid research related reasons.

here’s a too in depth overall diagram about the pipettes themselves, that are closer to the kind that i use. the most important parts of that diagram are the Volumeter display that tells u how much fluid that thing will shit out, the push button that u push down to dispense the fluid, aaaaaand the tip ejector button. which can launch off the pipette tip quite a distance lol (will talk more about that in #3)

Using these damn things takes finesse because when you push the button to dispense fluid there will be some resistance u feel that tells u to stop pushing, because if you keep pushing youre gonna get something scientists try to avoid called a “blow out”.

this farmer (is he really) on quora explains the concept im not willing to type out about pipettes and why u should stop pushing when u feel resistance. im telling you theres technique!! finesse!!!

top right is what im talking about, “first stop” being the resistance u feel A B and C seem to describe how u first Push down to A, release for B and then push down Again to dispense fluid in C. so its like a diagram for the motion u go through. D is for pushing shit all the way, and E is for pulling up from the second stop all the way up. Ive seen ppl go down to D and to E for the maximum amount of fluid withdrawn to prevent bubbles during the subsequent release of fluid (might start doing that honestly because bubbles in fluids dispensed cause so much problems for the machinery theyre EVIL)

this explains the concept of avoiding blow out again. the entire purpose is to dispense a very accurate volume of stuff so one drop off is actually a lot. remember how i said microliters are a measurement? one microlitre is like the size of a mothafuckin uhhhhh half a drop of liquid lol. times i work with microliters is when they wanna test ur piss for bacteria but you cant piss well it turns out we can use such a small amount of piss for plating purposes. when i say plating thats lab speak for “putting it on a petri dish”

i was gonna move on to the next topic but i wanna show you guys the older types of pipettes because these so far are all MODERN Expensive pipettes so smaller labs might be using the manual ones. (and while yes these modern pipettes are manual to a degree, there exist automatic pipettes that do da suckin and the dispensing for you but fuck that)

u know they used to suck up fluids with their mouths at one end in the past like it was a damn straw? bleh, some of the lab folks ive spoken to have recalled tasting piss by accident in the past or worse yet blood or spinal fluid lol.

but then they invented bulbs so people could stop sucking with their mouths and i dont know why they didnt do that in the first place

these things are pretty long and these are for measuring like. mililiters.

there also exists disposable plastic pipettes that i use fairly often and i think everyone everywhere uses these.

wow they come in different volumes isnt that so neat, i probably got a virus on my computer from making that gif on a shady website but i think it was worth it. i use these pipettes when i have to do a rapid c.diff test to transfer diarrhea (25 ul to be specific) to a tiny cartridge. very smelly. anyways im tired of talking about pipettes

3. Piper boi hats

These are pipette tips.

Like pipettes themselves they come in many sizes and the appropriate pipette tip has to match the size of the pipette in terms of amount that you want dispensed.

this is a great picture, do u remember how i mentioned pipette tip dispensers on pipettes themselves earlier? well the pipette has a button thats like EJECT THIS MF RIGHT NOW and these sons of bitches LAUNCH off like GOODBYE speeds unknown to man into the biohazard bin. not much to say about these things. who would’ve guessed. um. they come in fancy little boxes. the ones at work have tape on them with the words “ do not throw box away” on it idk why because they’re wasting boxes regardless? i guess i can ask my supervisor why and i bet its for a reason ill find so boring ill forget the minute after.

4. Vibe check

wow its even on sale. this is called a Vortexer.

I use this to resuspend anything that settled to the bottom of fluids, containers, or if i want to get an even distribution of bacteria within a fluid before i withdraw fluid from it using a pipette. It actually vibrates things pretty Violently its pretty funny, i mean it vibrates so hard you can feel it on your entire hand. Level of violence can be adjusted using the silly knob u see on the picture, the ones we use are usually on 7 to 9. i have to resist the urge to place my face down on the plate every day, but even if i wanted to id have to wipe down the black pad we set things on because ew. and i really do mean that these things get violent becuase the one at work sometimes has the black pad launch off lmao

we put sterile cups on this thing, uh lab test tubes. lord help you if you place a test tube without a stopper on it on this thing because the liquid Will fly out (has happened to me before many a time) i mean they even had a splash shield lmao, bacteria EVERYWHERE, here’s a video with the time down to the second of the action happening so u can see this boy VIBRATE, and as u can imagine if that container didnt have a cap fluid would fly everywhere

5. Extreme ™ Merry Go Round

u ever get on one of these damn things and feel the g force of all ur fluids going in one direction? well same theory, but for bacteria they get that sensation at like 6000 revolutions per minute (rpm) and experience hell before they die

extreme merry go round otherwise known as a Centrifuge. is a device for when u want all the particles floating around a in a fluid concentrated to a singular point, leaving behind all the solutes at the bottom of its container and leaving whats called a Supernatant that is (mostly) free of all solutes/precipitate at the top. The solutes/precipitate gets so stuck to the bottom it forms what we call a bullet/pellet.

The gif shows what you should expect ur thing to look like after u take it out of a centrifuge and it got spun correctly. At work when i have to deal with spinal fluid, we want any potential pathogen concentrated to one area for the purposes of examination on a gram stain. I would concentrate a large amount of spinal fluid in a centrifuge, remove excess supernatant using a disposable plastic pipette, leaving behind enough fluid just above the pellet. and then i would vortex it to re-suspend the pellet with stuff of interest now floating around the remaining liquid. does that all make sense? i hope it does i just told u what a pipette was and a vortex was like a minute ago

centrifuges come in various sizes, and designs the meme pic has one thats pretty small. and meant for like 10 test tubes. the ones i use at work have this thing called a swinging bucket. The bucket will swing backwards while the centrifuge spins. to the point that theyre horizontal.

this nice lady from google is holding whats called a bucket which is meant to hold like idk a lot of test tubes and they all go into that. wait a fucking minute that looks like the exact fucking centrifuge at work i recognize those fucking buttons that son of a bitch, i have to stand on my tippy toes and apply my entire body weight to the lid when i shut it for the damn thing to register that its closed before i start it >:/

the thing thats orange in that pic is the lid u spin to close over the thing that holds the test tubes because sometimes these test tubes can spill and my god, spilled blood thats been spun at 5000 rpm looks like when u pop open an unsecured centrifuge uhh

agarose gel is for a thing called electrophoresis.

“ Electrophoresis is a laboratory technique used to separate DNA, RNA or protein molecules based on their size and electrical charge. An electric current is used to move the molecules through a gel or other matrix “

in electrophoresis we use pipettes to transfer stuff into little jello sockets (called wells) the stuff injected into the wells are expected to travel a certain distance across the jello once a charge of electricity is applied to the jello. The stuff will travel across the jello depending on the amount of charge and its molecular size. as expected larger molecules will move slower and wont travel as far. smaller molecules will travel faster. Things move from negative (one end of the jello) to a positive charge (the charge applied to the opposite end). The movement is detected by a dye that is applied to before u even transferred the stuff to the wells. if you have a problem with a protein it’ll show up, if you dont it wont. i dont know i am so tired writing stuff lol. i saw a post recently talking abt how "gay" got used as a slur a lot more than people acknowledge. and it got me thinking of my school years & how often it got thrown around.

thing is. and heres where my train of thought goes off the rails. i actually experienced the word "incest" as an attack more than the word "gay"... which. ill explain. but it really got me thinking on this whole purity culture & demonising of incest depicted in literature & yknow taking things too far with whats considered incest.

bc at the end of the day. the reason incest is illegal (mostly) is to prevent inbreeding & the health issues that come along with that. if ur not blood related then theres no problem.

and like. the reason i got called incestuous and generally ostracised was bc i was close with a boy in my year. like we dated for a week as 14 yros do. and at some point i discovered that hey. his last name is the same as my aunts and lo and behold hes my 2nd cousin thru marriage or smth. so. not incest at all.

anyway that p much ruined our friendship (& it was a friendship. i broke things off before i even knew we were related bc i just didnt feel the same way and we stayed friends for a little bit) all bc some kids couldnt let it go that we had the vaguest relation to each other. he got bullied for the rest of our school year & ive felt horribly guilty for leaving him bc i wanted to be "cool" & ended up without any close friends like we were.

TW for discussions of "gay" used in a negative way, and discussions of the use of the word "incest," and its association with child sexual abuse, though there's really nothing terribly bad here as I'm not going into detail on any of thse topics. (If you need something tagged, though, let me know.)

Now, I'm old as dirt by tumblr standards, and I remember VIVIDLY the word "gay" being used in a negative light. As a kid, I didn't really see it used as a "slur" per se, but it was used to mean something was bad.

Like, if you saw a movie that sucked, you'd say "Man, that movie was so gay." It meant something like "lame."

So obviously, it wasn't a good thing, and when I got a bit older and was explained why using the word was bad, I stopped, and fortunately most other kids did too and it mostly faded from use (in that sense) at least as far as I noticed.

(I'm not saying gay hasn't been used as a more nasty slur/word ofc, this is just my personal experience with it.)

Granted, keep in mind when I was in high school, our LGBTQ+ club was just the "Gay/Straight Alliance." Back then, it was basically, you were gay/lesbian, or you were an ally. We never talked about trans people or nonbinary people or ace/aro people. Ofc every one of those identities/kinds of people existed, but as far as my world went, they didn't. Most of my circle of friends was queer in some way, but many were closeted or semi-closeted for various reasons.

Anyway, sorry for that detour. Now, as to your incest situation. I'm sorry that happened to you. It definitely wasn't fair. You didn't have any way to know if you were related, and if/when you did it was "easy" to end the relationship. But kids are kids, and they always love to find a way to single people out, and they probably didn't really care what the actual truth was.

Even if you'd discovered having a similar name was total coincidence, I'm sure they'd still have bullied you for "incest."

I wasn't bullied for it, thankfully, but I did have a classmate in high school with the same last name as mine. My name is very common in some places, but where I lived at that time it was not, so everyone assumed we were fraternal twins. He was a nice enough guy, but I really didn't want people to think we were siblings. But no matter how many times we both explained we weren't related, no one believed us.

Sometimes, once someone makes their mind up about something, there's no changing it.

As for "abandoning" your friend because you didn't want to be left out and regretting it, I get that too. There was a guy I dated when I was around 16, and we were very passionate, but I think honestly I entered a major depressive episode and lost all interest in everything, including him, and... anyway, I regret how things ended between us even today, many, many years later. I wish I could shake my 16-year-old self and tell them not to be so cruel, but we can't change the past, only learn from it and move forward.

With regards to antis/purity culture taking incest so far, I do agree it has gotten ridiculous. As you said, the reason incest is taboo is because of inbreeding, because if your (general you) DNA is too closely related, you increase the chance of having major/significant diseases due to a lack of genetic diversity. But antis tend not to understand the WHY's behind things (since they also believe pedophilia is bad bc it's disgusting, and not because it hurts children, who become real grown adults).

But I have seen some really wild takes called incest. Like a ship from one fandom where the male and female characters are friends. A lot of people consider it "problematic" apparently, because they have a "sibling-like" relationship. They did not grow up together, they aren't related, and yet that's "incest" according to antis.

I do want to mention another reason that incest can/is considered so bad, and it's because, despite what antis may think, most sexual abuse of children comes from someone close to them in their lives, often a family member or close friend. So for a lot of people, when they think of "incest," they closely associate it with sexual abuse of a child. It's possible that's why antis get so upset about it. I don't know. But that is another aspect to it. (Ofc for you, in your past situation, you were both around the same age, so that's not the case, but that association is there.)

But, in the end, in fiction, it doesn't matter, because there are not actual children who can be conceived or harmed, and so the whole purpose behind why incest isn't allowed in many places in modern times doesn't exist.

I hope you're doing OK now, anon. Don't be to hard on yourself. A lot of people have done things when they were young teens they regret and wish they could "undo," but as long as you learned from that experience so you could become a better person than that 14-year-old version of you, I think you're doing OK.

I only ever really Sapnap characterized as the “straight one” in dnf fic which is usually used to contrast how someone reacts to their best friend versus how someone reacts to someone they’re attracted to. That makes sense to me even if it mischaracterizes Sapnap’s relationship with dnf. I’ve read one too many fics where dnf are hitting on each other or flirting or direct it teasingly to Sapnap and have his reaction be running for the hills. Like Sapnap hasn’t leaned into every gay joke or flirtation made by his friends, but he’s got to be the “straight one” because that’s how the straights react and the whole poor Sapnap save him thing. It does serve the purpose of getting Sapnap away, which I do like because I prefer a dnf fic to be just about them and saves me the trouble of having to read people trying and write a character I like, but they don’t care for.

i do agree that the biggest perpetrator of super straight and like... man's man sapnap is dnfers because of this like ur so right and. as someone who reads a lot of dnf i wish they just wouldnt even mention him lmaoooooo reading whatever reason theyve made up to get him out of the house is amusing in an annoying way. i like dnf fics where theyre just alone in the house and no one asks questions why. i read dnf for dnf not for sapnap to be there especially if they're gonna characterize him the way they do. but thats dnfers and they do things their way and thats fine i just ignore it im not gonna police anyone's writing i'm just gonna talk about it on my little blog with like 12 followers and hope no one reads it...

my biggest issue with it and where i saw it a lot in the older days (late 2020 through 2021 especially but it went beyond that too) in a way that really grinded my gears was with this like. one specific breed of karlnap. i used to ship karlnap and LOVED karlnap especially during their initial meetups. im a dnkn shipper til i die there's no reason for me to dislike them. but i just couldnt stop finding myself reading these fics that were just so strange. hyper-masculine sapnap with ditsy effeminate karl in this very very binary way that i just couldn't compute. it not only disagreed with my personal opinions but it would develop into what i saw as a slightly off-putting lack of chemistry and was just really unenjoyable for me to read. it read like m/f to me which is fine but when im looking for mlm fic i want to read mlm. this goes back to wanting queer dynamics in representation of queer relationships (note: i'm using the word representation VERY loosely. im not implying fanfiction is anything close to actual representation). it was just so weird

it's kind of funny because i realized this in a very roundabout way. a friend of mine from outside the fandom wrote and gifted to me a karlnap fic based on the karlnap they had read and it was like the perfect highlight of the dynamics in the ship that bothered me... i loved the fic, still love my friend for writing it, but it really pointed out that the characterization of those two was just so set in stone in those days and i read it but i didn't like it in the long run or as inspiration for my own writing. the writing was incredible, the quality of it was great and it popped off it was amazing. my issue was with the guts of it, yknow? the internal stuff.

that's one of the main reasons i started writing karl differently than i used to (remember when i used to write karlnap? subbottom karl in MY christian minecraft server?) and focussing on kwtnf because i was mad about the sapnap characterization but didnt watch him solo enough to focus on him... then i hyperfixated onto karl and went fucking hog wild with the idea of him and his character in my head. it obviously didnt do anything i dont have any impact on other people but it made me feel better lol
