In lieu of the new National Treasure TV show on Disney+, I rewatched the movie and remembered how much I love the franchise/backstory. While I am watching TV, I love to have a snack. Jersey Mike’s Subs are known for their sandwiches and I definitely eaten many of the choices from Buffalo Chicken, Roast Beef, Italian. But, I rarely hear people talk about their chocolate brownies. It exceeded my expectations and it is a soft, gooey, fudgy, creamy, and rich piece of dessert that made me very happy. It is extremely underrated.

Minimalist Fashion Inspiration from the Best TV Shows
All my favorite TV shows are in the genres of action, comedy, and drama. Majority of the characters are strong, independent women who can handle any obstacle. They are empathetic, emotionally aware, kind, and team player to their counterparts. My fashion style mirrors the character’s wardrobe of professional, classic, and feminine pieces or tomboy and androgynous items. I rarely purchase luxury items and I am an advocate for sustainable fashion that can be wore or styled for many years to come.
Fiona Glenanne from Burn Notice (2007-2013)
She is an industrious character who is extremely valuable to Michael Western in professional and personal manners. She has a personality that can hold her own and is resourceful. Also, she is fashion forward in her looks. But it is evident that she prefers a more hands on approach on things. I have rewatched the series many times on Amazon Prime Video and I never saw her carry a handbag or purse. I appreciate her fanny pack that is convenient to carry her items and practical for those days where her team needs her assistance.
Kate Beckett from Castle (2009-2016)
She is a woman who is strong willed, but she can be emotionally vulnerable at times. She can process her emotions either positive or negative alone and she is incredibly sensitive. Due to her mother’s murder and open investigation, the exterior of Kate Beckett is tough, and she has to work through the trauma. But Richard Castle becomes her closest confidante professionally and personally. Her fashion style is classic, and she wear a lot of Burberry trench coats. As a homicide detective, she dresses professionally, but she adds some edgy and retro designs to her wardrobe. I appreciate the trench coat that she wears from Burberry that has leather sleeves. It is different and a definite showstopper.
Megan Hunt from Body of Proof (2011-2013)
She has the personality of the perfect combination of snark, determination, and sensitivity. After a devastating accident, she loses her medical license and closes her neurosurgeon practice and become a medical examiner. She has a playful and supportive banter with her colleagues and her unique medical investigations often help the case to be solved. Her wardrobe is constantly shown in a tasteful professional career manner which always has a pop of color. I love the bright teal or sea turquoise color that contrasts with her fair almost porcelain skin tone. Also, she loves luxury brands.

Castle: (Season 3, Episode 10)
The episode is called “Last Call”. “The death of a bar owner takes Castle and Beckett back in time to the prohibition era.” The speakeasy in the episode is called “The Old Haunt” which doesn’t exist in NYC. From the episode, Castle and Beckett find an unknown tunnel which leads to a stash of rare liquor. But there are many secret speakeasies that are in plain sight around NYC. “Nothing Really Matters” is a bar/lounge under the 50st Downtown 1 subway station. The entrance of the speakeasy is very inconspicuous. Another speakeasy that is in disguise is “UES”, the front of the store is an ice cream shop but when the server asks a patron about the “storage room” and a secret door covered with ice cream pints will open. A patron can enter a bar that serves unique cocktails.

Psst! Looking for a tropical vacation? Save $ in your wallet!
With the weather getting colder and people wanting to take a holiday or tropical vacation, please remember to check out Taiwan. There aren’t many places around the world that has a history as unique as Taipei. Taipei has many different influences in their rich culture. It has a skyline that trumps many locations like NYC, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Miami. At one point, the Taipei 101 skyscraper was the tallest building in the world, and it is the shopping mecca of downtown Taipei. Many luxury brands have a store inside and a traveler can go on a retail therapy trip. The best way to see the sunset is at the top of the building. It is like Summit One Vanderbilt, Top of the Rock, and Edge NYC where a person can have a scenic bird’s eye view of Taipei.
During the lowest temperatures, Taipei only reaches 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. It is the perfect temperature for soup dumplings, pork chop rice, sweet/savory buns, and pastries from bakeries. In Taipei 101, there is a Michelin restaurant called “Din Tai Fung” which has a well liked and desired group of guests from all over the world. It is highly recommended by food critics for their dishes especially the smashed spicy cucumber salad, juicy soup dumplings, and succulent noodles. Pork Chop rice is a Taiwanese staple that has warm rice as a foundation for tasty, crispy, and chewy pork chop with pickled or sauteed vegetables. Everyone must experience a trip to the Asian Bakery, there are so many treats to choose from and it is a promise that everything tastes good. The favorites to get are Portuguese Egg Tarts (The Portuguese occupied Taiwan in the mid-1500s from China and called the country “Formosa” which means “beautiful” because of the seaside landscape”. The texture and taste of the tart is like crème brulee with a flaky and buttery crust. Palmiers are always a good choice due to their sweet and crunchy nature. The sugar that is topped on the cookie is the best part. Hot dog buns are like pigs in a blanket, but there is a twist because it has scallions sprinkled in the bun. The scallions add a sense of freshness, subtle allium flavor, and color that cuts through the saltiness.
There is always a variety of snacks and drinks to try, 7- Eleven is a popular convenience store in the USA that sells fast food like hot dogs and candy. The 7- Eleven in Taipei can sell courses for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A traveler can get the best cold sandwiches, tasty lemon tea, apple cider, sarsaparilla (it has hints of caramel, vanilla with a root beer accent), assorted chips of different flavors like shrimp and Wan Wan crackers that have a sweet/salty profile.
The airport to fly into Taipei is Taoyuan International. If the traveler is a Delta SkyMiles member, the miles earned from Delta can be used on a partner of airlines like China Airlines. It is part of the SkyTeam alliance. For more information on Delta Partner airlines, please check the sources section below.

History Lessons from NCIS: Hawaii
Since NCIS Hawaii is on hiatus until January, I decided to rewatch the first season of NCIS: Hawaii and I noticed that the characters in the TV show talked about pearls from the South China Sea. As someone who is a fashion and jewelry enthusiast, I thought it was interesting that Maggie Shaw (who was Jane’s mentor and friend) gave her daughter (Julie) a necklace of “Wishing Pearls” from the South China Sea.
The region of the South China Sea is known for the pearls. They “are generally much larger than other pearl types and have a unique luster quality – a soft reflection due to the large aragonite platelets that make up the pearl. They also have the thickest average nacre of all cultured pearls. These factors make South Seas both distinctive and valuable.”
One of the most famous pearl distributors is named “Mikimoto”. “Kokichi Mikimoto decided to try culturing pearls that are loved by people all over the world. He was a dreamer, and he did not let his dream die. He became the first in the world to successfully culture a semi-spherical pearl in 1893. He continued his attempt to culture many different types of pearls, including black and white South Sea cultured pearls.”
For the Miss Universe 2007 pageant, Vanessa Lachey hosted the event with Mario Lopez. It was the last time that the winner (Riyo Mori of Japan) would wear the Mikimoto Miss Universe Crown until 2017 where Demi Leigh Tebow of South Africa won. The crown commemorated the fifth anniversary and the official jewel sponsor of the Miss Universe Organization. It is one of the most popular crowns.

White Collar: (Season 3, Episode 9)
The episode is called “On the Fence”. The plot of this episode is about “Peter learns that Keller stole an Egyptian artifact and that he's trying to get into New York. Mozzie is anxious to unload the art but Neal wants him to wait. Peter asks Neal how Keller will get the artifact into New York, so he brings Peter to a fence he knows. Later the man turns up dead. When they learn of a person who handles artifacts Neal goes undercover.” The abandoned warehouse reeks of dark academia vibes which is exquisite. A real estate developer purchased the property and converted it into a luxurious hotel that kept the original architecture. Please remember to look up in the hotel’s atrium for the details on the roof.
