-> Scaramouche/ Kunikuzushi/ Kabukimono x gn!reader
-> Dark content warning! This is a part two - first part linked above! Very unhealthy relationship - reader manipulates and treats Kabukimono like a "pet" or a doll! Reader is very cruel and sadistic, they go ballistic and have a mental breakdown! There is bird death - not graphic or detailed! No gender or pronouns mentioned for reader!
-> Note that I do not condone or support this in any way - this is purely fictional and for entertainment purposes only!

Like you had so gracefully promised you took him along with you on your trip. It wasn't a nice holiday away from the icy Snezhnaya though, it was more of boring negotiations and forcing people to do what was needed. Just like any other boring day of your life. As the 6th Harbinger it baffled that you out of all of the Eleven were chosen for this... Signora was usually the smooth talking diplomat, while you liked doing things your own way and however you pleased.
Diplomatics and pleasantries were only interesting if something huge was at stake, but sadly no. It was just pure negotiation that needed you to overlook and approve of its outcome. What a drag... For a while now you had stopped listening to the old farts blabbering and instead let your mind run wild - which never ended well for anyone. So many ways to make things more interesting, to have this meeting come to a more quick solution by drawing out your weapon before them.
Instead you opted to sit tight like a good little Harbinger until the talks would come to their inevitable conclusion. Your eyes drifted downwards to the boy by your feet, sitting on the floor on his knees like you had instructed. He hadn't moved a muscle like the good boy he was taught to be. You affectionately pet his hair making him look at you, you only shook your head for him to ignore you and your actions. Only you didn't like what he chose to do with that freedom...
What little remained of your attention was immediately off of the person talking as your precious doll turned his gaze to longingly out a window with a family of birds standing on it. They happily hopped around and chirped, causing him to smile. How dare he? Your hands quickly balled into fists as your expression turned angry, yet sinister - the people around you cautiously moved back and stared. Noticing the silence the boy turned back with a confused face only to see your furious expression as you grabbed a hold of his arm, tightly.
"You're not thinking of running away are you?" You squeezed tighter, your nails digging into the skin of his bicep. The table full of people fell completely silent, not daring to say another word as the atmosphere had changed in an instant along with your mood...
"You will never leave me - I won't allow you to!" You shouted.
"I- I wasn't!" He said in a panic.
"Oh, don't deny it! I see the way you look outside! You are going to try and abandon me after everything I've done for you!" Suddenly you felt something trailing down your cheek.
A stray tear dared to fall from your eye and not only that but more followed suit. Everyone - including you, were in pure shock and no one dared to even breathe as the world fell eerily silent. Never had anyone or anything made the 6th Harbinger cry... Never had anyone heard even the faintest rumor of that ever happening. If anything the opposite was very much the case, of you making those around you cry and you destroying them emotinally or physically. Often for your own amusement only.
For the first time in your life you felt utterly embarrassed. To be humiliated before these people so far beneath you was so unbelievable all you could do was let out a hysterical yet humorless laugh. The all around feared and notorious 6th Harbinger - was crying because of a being barely human. Had he been anyone or anything else you'd have cut them down and destroyed them utterly. But you couldn't. You had grown attached and come to love this fake boy in your own twisted way...
You abruptly stood up - leaving your chair to loudly fall over, but you didn't even bat an eye as you walked towards the window. You delicately opened it, carefully making sure you didn't scare away the birds that had caught your precious dolls eye. Without hesitation you drew your weapon and began mercilessly killing them, until nothing but a mangled pile remained.
You turned back to look at the people watching with absolutely horror, yet they were unable to look away. Your cold eyes landed on the boy still on his knees on the floor. His defeated gaze and tears of his own satisfied you enough to help you calm down - making you put away your weapon to not make decisions you'd regret later. Your steps echoed around the room as you approach the crying boy and stood before him.
"I think we're done here." You simply said.
The ride back was filled with utter silence that bored you to no end, but you both needed time to collect yourselves and calm down. He refused to look at you unless you specifically requested it and you didn't. You didn't pet his hair or have him lay on your lap like any other time... Things had truly gone out of control, even for you - even if only this once, you'd admit that. You didn't look forward to telling the Tsaritsa about this, or having your colleagues hear and ask about it. At least some of them knew better than to even think about it.
Once in the comfort of your own home, you did request for him to lay his head on your lap. You didn't know where to start, but apologizing was out if the question. He was testing you, he caused you anguish. If anyone - he should apologize to you. As despite everything, you still loved him the same.
You grabbed a hold of his face, your hands cupping his porcelain like cheeks. You resisted the insatiable urge to dig your nails into his round cheeks. "I love you. What I did today was because I love you!"
"I will always love you - just stay loyal to me. Just be mine forever." You pleaded.
You couldn't believe you were the one who had to beg him, but whatever his answer may have been - you weren't lying when you said you'd never let him go. No matter where he would run and hide to, you would always be there to bring him right back. You couldn't let him go anymore, he was yours.
"You know only I will ever be able to love you! Everyone else will betray and abandon you after they realize what you truly are! But I never will - I won't even die no matter how much time goes by." You took a deep breath as you tried to calm down, "Not even death will come in between us."
Not even you could truly kill him, that's why you loved him and why he was so special to you. He wasn't human, humans could be broken so incredibly easily - you would know. But he was special. Not quite human, yet human enough for you to love unconditionally. Neither of you would die a natural death for old age, you would have eternity to love each other, an eternity of him being completely yours and at your command. At your mercy.
"I love you too." He quietly replied.

Laito x reader|oneshot|(feat kou)
Tumblr media
WARNINGS : may or may not contain sensual themes, sensetive content mild language, some references to pet play, and of course blood sucking (at some point) also some crude jokes and humor~ that's all happy reading you guys
One more thing kou will be in this but he won't have any major interactions with the reader he's just there for support i guess because this is strictly revolving around laito and the reader-Chan
Also I wanna say that reject made a fine choice of having kou in laitos route it really speaks for itself when you wonder does kou have a dirty mind like laito does yes yes he does readers he does but it's just not as obvious as it is with laito and yui hardly ever had to call kou a pervert (hashtag jiryia sense lmao)
Walking on your way to school was no different from any other time you would walk with laito to school although today was different because while walking to school you and laito saw a family of five walking their dog and to your unawareness. Sparked an idea in laitos mind, you didn't know what he wanted to do until you finally got to school because he was acting more off than he normally does...
You were about to put your things in your locker when he looked at you smiling with his trademark grin. You didn't know what to do but to just stare you wouldn't deny the relation you had with him was short but it was definitely still  there.... You had been together with him for a little over a month now and he hadn't done anything too crazy except try to drag kou into the relationship he wanted nothing to do with....
Today shouldn't have been any different people walk their dogs all the time so why was he looking at you like you were supposed to do something for him?
He  chuckled lightly before pining you against the wall making you look directly into his eyes "bitch-Chan you need to do better at paying attention to me~ should discipline you better? I would really hate to take away your freedom but if that's what it takes for you to be obedient I'll do it~" he said licking your neck sending shivers down your spine "l-laito n-not in the middle of school~" you said quietly but then you realized the moment u said that you were somewhere else somewhere different "hmm I have to get something so you know your place bitch-Chan~" he said dragging you to an isle letting you know you were in some kind of store.
before you could ask what store you heard the sounds of animals in the background 'a pet store what could he want from a pet-' your thoughts were cut off when laito had found what he'd been looking for he'd picked out a cute Lacey dog collar meant for a canine  but he decided he wanted to have you wear it...
He must have been crazy but then agian he is laito so you probably would've expected as much from him....
"Come on bitch-Chan let's go purchase this so we can go home and play~" he said smiling at you only making you wonder what he meant when he said "play"
After purchasing the article he took you outside before putting it on he told you to follow him home and that he'd give you a treat if you did of course you listened because you wanted the collar off as soon as possible as it was way too small for you but laito saw it as a perfect fit~
Upon arriving he took you to his room where he sat on the bed and you attempted to get on the bed with him and you whined upon him pushing you off "oh bitch-Chan you don't understand bad dogs don't get to sit on her owners bed you have to earn it agian~" he said squaring down to where u were level with him " and you've been a very good girl so far so let's see how far you can go before you disobey me hm~? He asked chuckling amusingly
"L-laito-kun this collar is way too tight please take it off" you whimpered and he laughed
"Oh if I didn't hear correctly then I must be going crazy dogs aren't supposed to talk bitch-Chan, I want you to bark for me" he said licking your neck agian you shivered and whimpered out
You tried to follow his orders which was a little difficult givin your position you were in "a-arf arf" you managed to whimper out getting a satisfied laugh from laito, said vampire was only inches away from biting your neck "whine for me like you want me to bite you" he whispered in your ear and you whimpered out and he completed by biting your neck "ahahah it's so~ sweeet~" he moaned taking more of your blood into his cold mouth the feeling giving him shivers himself.... You had no idea what else he had planned for you this was merely the beginning.....
Of something entirely different you couldn't imagine the next thing he had planned all you could do was wonder as you melted beneath him submitting to him and the pleasure he was giving you you continued to whine like a little puppy his puppy.
"Ah bitch-chan you know I love when you do that" he said kissing you softly
"I love you bitch-chan" was the only thing you heard before you slowly drifted away into unconsciousness

Feeding On The Right Things
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK
=========================
+ Job 42:2: “I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you.
=========================
VERSE OF THE DAY
========================
+ Romans 1:21-22 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
‭‭=========================
** SAY THIS BEFORE YOU READ; HERE’S SOME CHRISTIAN TRUTHS **
I AM FEEDING ON THE RIGHT THINGS
I LOVE GOD MORE
I AM NOT FOOLISH BUT WISE
I AM SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE OF CHRIST
********************************
THOUGHTS:
=======================
What do you think is futile or What do you think it means ? Webster says this about being futile, incapable of producing any result, ineffective, or unsuccessful. So, they became incapable of producing any results. They were very foolish in their hearts, which caused them to become dark. They claim to be wise but are fooled; this is happening a lot today in this society.
People are allowing the comforts of life to change the way they think and to change what they desire, and when people do this, they become foolish, irrational, and not modest at all; things that used to be for behind closed doors are now out in the open, but we must stick to the truth ! ,and that is
the word of God.
Can you see that the flesh is out there, but we must always stick to the truth of God? A lot of people think because they went to college that, they are wise, but having the education of the world and having a bunch of letters behind our name doesn't make us any wiser than anyone else but we must stay focused on  God, I’m not saying that having an education is wrong but to depend on the knowledge given to us by man and not  God isn’t right.
We must understand that the door that leads to Christ is given to every man or woman and child at one time in their life. It's up to them to accept it and discover God, but the moment we deny the truth of God, he won't make us accept him. He won't make us pick him, no. He will always show us the errors in our ways, and it is up to us to figure it out from there; as long as our heart is inclined to learn and grow, the more Christ we will receive.
2 King 17:15 They despised his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them.
If we keep chasing this world with false idols and false beliefs, we are going to lose out on something incredible, which is a relationship with God; if we keep chasing these fake prophets and fake pastors and allowing them to fill us with not the truth of God we are going to be lost, a lot of times we allow people to tell us what the word of God says instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to show us, following our friends following our family members into the fleshly things will always cause us to be in the flesh.
If they aren't following the word of God, we must find our footing elsewhere. The world of God says Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” God desires to show us how to have more in him. God desires to build with us, but if we allow different things to feed us, we will be too full of trash and not filled with the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
The Holy Spirit can't feed if we are allowing the world to do it too , the bible says we can't serve our masters. We both love the one and hate the other. Which one are you genuinely hating? Which one are you truly giving your all to? The things of this world will always make you feel something temporary: happiness, the freedom of doing whatever you choose, but at the end of the day, what you choose will make or break you. We dont want the world to be what we choose because the world is cold. This place doesn't care about hurting our feelings or emotions; it doesn't care if you dont have it together; this world doesn’t care what you have going on because it's the world, but God cares for us. He loves every part of us, but do we love him back?
***Today, we learned that what we feed ourselves should be of the spirit, not everything we allow ourselves to feed on; God wants us to feed our soul every day by meditating on his word, and he wants us to be picky about who feeds us the word of God, a lot of us go to church’s or place or listen to people because they popular but are they feeding in your soul, are they showing you what the Lord is calling us all to do, are they leading you down the right path, are they tending to they flock are they who they are in and out of church these things are essential.
We often look at our lives and go with the routine of things we never look at. Do you think this will affect me? Does it affect my relationship with Jesus? Start looking at who you are in Christ, what you're doing on a daily basis, and how it affects your Christian walk with Christ. ©Seer~ Prophetess Lee

PRAYER
========================
Heavenly Father, thank you for everything you have given us ;we ask you to forgive us of our sins and help us be more like you. Father, if we are somewhere or watching something that isn't helping us grow, please show us, Lord, we desire to grow in you every day. Lord, give us strength as we go through our day. Please help us to connect with you on everything. Lord, give us more wisdom and knowledge. Help us to apply your word to our lives, not just wear the title but truly live it. In Jesus Name Amen

...goddess help me...
This fucking episode. *deep breath* This... This episode is where I'm expecting to get some serious hate. Let me just get this out of the way right up front:
I. Hate. Zemo.
I do not find him sympathetic, or funny, or charming. I find him creepy and annoying. I did not like him in CA:CW and I do not like him in TFATWS. If you are pro-Zemo, you are not going to like my version of this show from here on out. Just find something else to read and don't bother me about it. You've got the actual canon, so go enjoy that.
Got it? Good. Now, on to the main event!
Episode 3: The Power Broker
Tumblr media
First of all, Sam doesn't let Bucky walk in there alone. No matter Bucky's (flimsy and nonsensical) argument, Sam's like "hell no. I go in with you, or you don't go in." The main reason for this isn't to keep Bucky from breaking Zemo out of prison (with decent writing, he would never do that) - it's so that Sam witnesses Zemo taunting Bucky with/about the trigger words. because Zemo is a piece of shit.
Since he doesn't know the full story, Sam is confused, but he files this interaction away to ask Bucky about later. He's listening to Zemo acknowledging that Bucky was "not conscious for most of [his] imprisonment" (which, yes, clearly refers to the time he spent frozen, but can also mean while he was under their control as TWS/"The Asset" - also, key word: imprisonment) and when he calls Bucky a means to an end, Sam scowls, looking ready to go off on him, but he waits. They've got more important issues.
Neither of them entertains the thought of breaking Zemo out for even a nanosecond. He does that shit himself. And literally the only reason I'm sticking with him getting out at all is because I want to address some truly egregious moments linked directly to him in the show. Zemo makes them think he's setting them on the trail when really he's just sending them to his motor pool. Bucky and Sam are confused until they see Zemo in his stolen guard uniform, then they're both angry and want to ship him right back to prison, but he strikes a deal with them: "My help for my temporary freedom. Creating super soldiers cannot be allowed to continue; let me finish my work, and then do with me as you will." He has no intention of going quietly back to prison, obviously, and they're not stupid enough to believe otherwise, but they believe they can keep him on a short leash, so they agree for now. Anything to bring down the Flag Smashers and whoever created them.
Tumblr media
After the title, we cut to Raynor on the phone in her office. She's agitated, fiddling with things on her desk. "No, sir," she's practically growling, "it was disrupted. - Walker did! - It's not my fault your new attack dog got off-leash!" She pauses, huffs, and says more calmly, "No. Of course not. I'm sorry. - Well, I don't see how, with the new Cap strutting around barking orders! - What am I supposed to do? Tell Captain America in front of a dozen witnesses that he can't have his predecessor's favorite pet because we're not done reprogramming him? I didn't see that going over too well. I made a call. - No. No, no, no, we can still use him. The work's not finished, but he still trusts me. He'll be back." A pause as she listens. Angry again, she snaps, "What do you want me to do, shove a tracker up his ass? He'll be back, and we'll pick right back up where we left off! - Don't worry, sir, the Asset will be fully compliant and ready to use soon. I'll make sure of it. - Yes, sir. You, too." She hangs up and tosses her phone on the couch, grumbling, "Dick."
Tumblr media
Cut back to Sam, Bucky, and Zemo getting going on their trip to Madripoor. On the plane, Sam wants to talk to Bucky about what he's learned so far, but doesn't want to bring it up in front of Zemo... until the notebook incident reminds him that Zemo already knows more about Bucky than he does.
After Zemo's line about the list, Sam angrily corrects him: "You mean people HYDRA used The Winter Soldier to hurt." When Zemo shrugs and his response is basically along the lines of "what's the difference" Sam is like "oh hell no."
"Those words you were reciting at him," he reminds Zemo, "what were they, Russian? They clearly meant something. They were supposed to do something. What are they?" "Sam, let it go," Bucky pleads, unable to look at either of them. "It's nothing." "You wanna drown in your guilt, that's fine," Sam snaps, "but make sure it's for the right reasons." He turns back to Zemo, who's smiling at this exchange because he's a monster and thinks Bucky's suffering is fucking funny. "I asked you a question, Zemo. What did those words do?" "They activate the Winter Soldier programming," Bucky grudgingly admits. He doesn't want to talk about it, but he's sure as hell not going to let Zemo speak for him. "Or, they did, before the Wakandans got all that shit out of my head." "It's a shame," Zemo says with a smirk. "Imagine the possibilities that come with perfect obedience." "I think you mean 'slavery'," Sam growls, "and I think you're in the wrong crowd to be looking so pleased about it. Remember that we can send your ass back to prison any time." "Of course," Zemo agrees, but with an arrogant smile that shows he doesn't believe for a second that these two have any real power over him. Still, he bides his time and sits back quietly, watching Bucky fidget with the notebook. Sam turns back to Bucky, seeing his discomfort; he won't let the topic go, though, not yet. He just softens his tone. "So, they 'activated the Winter Soldier'? What exactly does that mean?" Bucky shrugs, still not looking up. "Pretty much what he said - perfect obedience. What little consciousness they left me between cryo and the chair was squashed down, locked away. And I did whatever I was told, exactly the way they told me to." It finally clicks. He'd had his suspicions before, of course, but now Sam gets it. Visibly horrified, he stares at this quiet, broken man, and finally sees the truth of what he'd been through for 70 years: "They stripped away your autonomy. Shit, Bucky, they didn't even let you be a person. That's..." He swallows, looking like he'll be sick any minute. "That's awful, man. I'm so sorry." When Bucky tries to shrug it off and downplay it again, Sam gets angry. "Look at me!" He waits; it takes a few seconds, but Bucky reluctantly looks up and is surprised to see just how upset Sam is on his behalf. "It wasn't your fault. None of it. When Steve said you didn't have a choice, I had no idea... You really, truly had no choice; not even the ability to choose. That's horrifying." "I doubt it would make much difference to the people he's killed," Zemo points out snidely. "Or their families. Let's ask Tony Stark, shall we?" "You shut the hell up," Sam growls. He watches Bucky flinch and make that face - the face he's starting to really fucking hate - that says he agrees with Zemo. Bucky still can't see things the way Sam does; he still feels the guilt and shame, and even when he himself pointed out his lack of agency under HYDRA, it didn't click for him that Sam is right, not Zemo.
It's too much, too soon. Sam sees that and decides to change the subject, to give Bucky some time to process. He nods at the notebook, and they have their little Marvin Gaye debate, where Sam is over the top about it on purpose, because Bucky needs the distraction.
Of course, Zemo ruins it by opening his big mouth again and reminding Bucky of more trauma: his time fighting in WWII. That's why Sam latches onto the bit about Madripoor; to keep the focus not only on the task at hand, but off of Bucky's past that he clearly still can't cope with.
"James... You will have to become someone you claim is gone." Sam is officially ready to throw Zemo out a window. 😂 The only reason he doesn't jump to Bucky's defense again and basically tell Zemo to fuck himself (in a PG-13 way 🙄) is because Bucky's, as Sam pointed out in ep2, a grown-ass man, and because he's just learned how few decisions this poor man has been able to make in his life. Sam doesn't want to come across as another "handler," deciding everything for him, even if he does think this plan is stupid and needlessly cruel.
Tumblr media
At the bar, when asked if he wants "the usual", Sam just casually waves the bartender off like "nah". Zemo already said they had business to attend to, so it's not like anyone would be suspicious that now's probably not a good time to be doing weird shots lol. (wtf even was that? I'm not sure I want to know, but...what part of the snake did he drop into that drink?)
Sam's not an idiot (I'm really so sick of this trend of turning intelligent characters into morons because the writers can't think of any other way to move their plot along) so his cell phone has been off this whole time. No sudden call from Sarah to put them all in danger. There was really no point to that, anyway; Sharon likely would have killed Selby for talking about Nagle with or without the excuse of "saving" Sam and Bucky. I mean, it's not like they know who fired that shot, ever.
"They cleared the Bionic Staring Machine," Sam still jokes, but he follows it with, "and they think he's a mass-murderer." "They think?" Sharon stares at him incredulously. "Didn't he kill pretty much everyone he's ever met?" "Wow." Sam glances back at Bucky. "She really is awful now." To Sharon, he adds, "You met Steve; do you really think he'd have defied 117 countries to protect someone evil?" "He did it for Bucky," she points out. "Let's face it - Bucky could blow up half the planet, and Steve's loyal-to-a-fault ass would still take a bullet for him." "You know I'm sitting right here, right? I can hear you." "Look, I don't think you're evil, Bucky," Sharon assures him. "But I know you killed a lot of people for HYDRA." "I'm not denying it." "He didn't have a choice," Sam snaps, glaring at them both. "But we're not getting into that right now. My point is, the government's afraid of Bucky, and they still pardoned him. All you did was steal something. I'm sure they can be persuaded to see reason." "The day the US government sees reason," Sharon quips, rolling her eyes, "is the day I sprout real wings and fly off into the sunset." "Careful, Icarus," Bucky mocks with a smirk, "the sun and brand new wings don't exactly go together." Then he shrugs and glances at Sam. "But she's not wrong."
At the party that night, it takes a few minutes (grumpy old man Bucky's not sure how to feel about the music lol) but a peek of pre-war Bucky comes out to play: they were told to "blend in", so he dances. At first he's just bobbing around alone looking stoic and out of place, but soon he's smiling and dancing between two attractive people - one male, one female. Sam is surprised, but before he can tease him for it, Sharon comes to get them all. Even she's a little "wait what?" at Bucky having a little fun lol. (recovery is not linear, guys. trauma doesn't mean "perpetually miserable, no fun, doesn't even know how to smile." in my TFATWS, Bucky gets his lighter moments; real ones, not humor at his expense)
When they find Nagle, Bucky's the one who notices and opens the secret door, while Sam keeps an eye on Zemo. Bucky catches Zemo trying to grab that gun; closes the drawer on his hand before opening it and taking the gun away. "Nice try." Nagle tries to get away while there's only one person watching him, but Sam catches him and forces him back into his seat. With a bruising grip on the back of Zemo's neck, Bucky drags him back over to where he and Sam can both keep an eye on him. Nagle is killed in the shootout as they're trying to escape; Zemo still runs off, blows shit up, and comes back with the stolen car so he's not totally useless.
I had no problem with Zemo being the one to kill Nagle; Nagle was the worst and def had to die, and Zemo has never had an issue killing anyone. Where I took issue with this scene was Bucky and Sam being dumb enough to let Zemo wander and get his hands on a gun. Nope. Not happening.
Tumblr media
Anyway, shootout! Explosions! Funny banter! The seat thing, which is my favorite nod to CW ever lol... And then the conversation on the plane...
"You okay?" "Yeah." Sam sighs. "Just thinking." "About how to get Sharon that pardon you dangled in front of her?" He shakes his head. "About how Nagle referred to 'The Winter Soldier Program" like it was some kind of after school club; like you weren't standing right there. And 'the American test subject' like... Like Isaiah wasn't even a real person." He turns to face Bucky, looking angry and weary. "Makes me wonder how many times... How many times are we gonna run around in the same circles before people learn? And how many people need to get crushed underfoot in the meantime?" "Did you really just equate me with Isaiah?" Bucky frowns, not sure how to react to that. "That man is a hero." Sam opens his mouth to say something, but his phone goes off and Zemo approaches at the same time, effectively cutting off their conversation.
When they get to Riga and Zemo tries to guilt trip them over Sokovia, Bucky deadpan reminds him, "Neither of us were involved in that fight." "I doubt you'd have been much help if you were." He shrugs. "Probably not. But I like to save my guilt for events I was actually present for. It's a thing." Zemo laughs. "Fair enough."
Bucky goes on his walk, and meets up with Ayo.

Kaz Brekker didn’t need a reason. Those were the words whispered on the streets of Ketterdam, in the taverns and coffeehouses, in the dark and bleeding alleys of the pleasure district known as the Barrel.
Kaz Breaker didn't need a reason, but he always found one in Inej Ghafa,a girl who had a heart bigger than the entirety of Ketterdam, a girl to whom faith bowed the way greed and grudges bowed to him and a girl who, in spite of having been stripped off of her innocence in the menagerie at the age of fourteen, nurtured mercy and forgiveness in her heart and made it look like fate had never been anything but kind to her.
"I can help you"
Those were the words she had spoken the first time he met her, the words no one had dared to speak to him since Jordie. Yet, it weren't the words but her presence that surprised him- she had bells in her costume but he didn't hear her, She wore purple silk and had dots on her shoulders but he didn't see her, not until she spoke. It was as if she were a daughter of the shadows, a messenger of the West Wind, a wraith. Without responding, he stood up and left, feeling the heat of her eyes following him as he walked out of the door. The next day, he went to the Menagerie, bought her indenture and gave her the choice to join The Dregs, the option to choose freedom, although he wasn't sure if choosing between slavery and self-sufficiency was even a choice.
He got the girl her first knife, taught her how to pick locks and named her The Wraith- a name which, in the month to come, would scare the strongest of the men and make them look around twice before uttering it, lest she should come out of the shadows and slit their throats.
As time passed, Kaz found himself seeking comfort in the shadows, the same shadows in which the Wraith lurked. He found himself falling in love with everything about her, everything except her faith in her saints.
"Why do you hate the saints, Kaz?" She had asked.
"Because those saints didn't stop you from being torn away from your family, because the saints you worship are the same saints who didn't stop others from taking advantage of you…...because no saint ever watched over me, not like you have."
He had walked out of the room without uttering a single word.
"The saints may turn their backs on you but I will never." He had found himself muttering these words over and over again that night.
And surprisingly, everyday he would find himself keeping those unsaid promises, being at her side every time she needed him. Yet, he would never stop her from fighting; he would never take her weapons from her and let her rest, because that's what they do- they fight till their last breath.
Every time a man grabbed her in the Barrel, every time Tante Haleen's men jumped her and passed lewd remarks, he wouldn't run up to them to save her like the heroes in stories do. He would wait-his jaw clenching, his fingers tightening around the head of his cane until his knuckles would turn white- and watch. He would let her fight her way out of every situation, he would wait patiently as she punched and kicked them until she managed to place a knife against their throats.
Once, after finalizing a deal with a man in his office, the man had remarked "well, Mr Brekker, this calls for celebrations. Why don't you ask your whore to come in and-"
Instinctively, his hand flew to the man's collar before he got the chance to finish his sentence. As the laughter that followed the remark died out, something shone in the man's eyes as he tried to free himself from Kaz's grip- was it anger or fear that he couldn't tell for he was too busy trying to stop the darkness from taking over him and putting a bullet straight through his head.
'You have made people suffer and bleed to death for less...then why not now?' He found himself wondering.
'Because the shadows listen and the shadows will judge' he assured himself, before letting go of the man's collar and saying,
"I don't own her. No one does."
Two days later, he found the man sitting at a table with a drink in his hand and as he tilted his head, Kaz saw the angry gash that ran down the from the corner of his jaw and reached the base of his neck: made by someone who knew their knife the way one knows their hand, someone who intended to hurt but not to kill.
"Brekker sees everything" they say. Everytime someone pays for trying to double-cross Kaz even in the smallest way, the rumours rise and multiply, like the waves during a squall. Some say that Dirtyhands has eyes that can tell pollen from dust within a fraction of a second. Others say that he has spies in every crack and crevice that embellishes the city. Kaz neither confirms nor denies any, for every rumour that has ever reached his ears had been true, although up to a certain extent.
Yet there are things that he never saw. He never saw the way his Wraith would follow him down the streets every time a new death-threat knocked on his door, he never saw the way she would take the shape of his shadow and escort him to his battles even after being asked not to do so; and he never saw the way she had his back during his personal wars as well, the ones that creeped into darkness of his room and plagued his dreams while she would stand beside his sleeping body and think "just one more minute, one more second and then I'll wake him up."
Kaz Brekker saw everything but he never saw that while the silence of the night had lulled everyone else to sleep, a shadow that wasn't his own followed him up the stairs of the Slat as he rushed into bathroom where he finally undid his armour and sank to the ground before emptying his stomach in the toilet. His white shirt was speckled with the blood that trickled from his nose and his forehead but he didn't get the chance to think about it, for every time he breathed, he could think of nothing but the contact of skin with skin as the punches assaulted him until he was wrecked from within. He wasn't supposed to get into a fight, not that late at night, but as the attackers stripped him of his gloves and beat him down to dust, self-defense was the last thing on his mind.
And while he gagged and his breathing grew heavier, Inej pressed her forehead against the door of the bathroom and waited……
She waited until she couldn't hear him retching…
She waited until she couldn't hear the sound of him breathing….
And just as she was about to barge in, she heard the sound of the tap running and water splashing against skin….
And that is when she knew that he would be okay.
She pressed her ear to the door and listened until the splashing of water turned into the sound of steady breaths and then she turned away and melted into the shadows.
Just like she always had….
Just like she always will…..
Until Fate would decide to rip them apart.
P.S.: it has probabaly been eight billion years since I last wrote something, lol😛
Nevertheless, please feel free to point out typos (ya girl wrote this in a great hurry)
God I hope I won't regret this...

You smiled as your gaze looked out the window, the eternal abyss staring back as it was littered with the misty colors of turquoise, lavender, and many shades of rose- stars littering the rest of the scene in front of you. You leaned your head against the metal framing of the window, your hair cushioning you comfortably as thoughts sat still in your mind, your body calm as well.

How long has it been since you were on the ship?
"Hey kid, don't sleep with your neck like that- you'll mess it up" Quills voice rang out, but it sounded far away, muffled. You didn't know if it was cause of your tiredness or your spaced out state, but you couldn't seem to care by that point. You felt thick gloves move around your neck, the other moving under your knees, before a huff and some grumbling.
"I don't know what you'll do without us, but even then," He sighed, carrying your body to the closest area where you could rest properly under his gaze, on the plush rest area in the cabin, allowing him to navigate the stars while keeping you near- though he'd vehemently denied it at any and every comment about it, the Guardian had grown attached to you, finding a child in you where you found a father in him.
"I don't think I want you leaving the nest so soon."
"As we all know, poetry and language flow like the wind. There'll definitely be someone there who knows about your friends. At least, that's what Paimon thinks!" Your guide chimed, hovering in front of you as you both made your way down the side of the hill, the vibrant and thick greens of the grass and trees were only further complimented by the sun- this place definitely was beautiful. You didn't feel warm, or overheated, which surprised you, especially with how bright the sun was. The cool breeze was constant in this place, giving an Autumn chill to a Spring setting, at this rate you'd think you'd need your body suit to warm you up.
"Whether the gods actually answer you is a different story. You never know unless you try. So let's hop to it!" You can practically feel her smile, her small head turning back to you, Paimon's small body bouncing up at how you were listening to her so intently. By the time you reached the statue, she started to cross again, having the privilege of floating while you... did not.
"You can swim right over! Don't push yourself though!"
"Let's just hope I don't sink with all the gear I have... or get electrocuted." You joked, walking into the water till your hot waist level, deciding at that point swimming was best.
"W-what? Don't just jump in then!" She shouted, still loud as ever in that tiny body of hers, floating above you with a worried look on her face.
"I'm fine, I'm fine. My gear is all waterproof, so there isn't an issue there." You huffed, climbing onto the shore of the tiny island before shaking off the water and straining what you could, lightening your load as much as allowed.
        "See? All good."
"Well don't joke like that! Paimon doesn't know what she'll do if anything happens to you... Paimon doesn't even wanna think about it!" She exclaims, a hand to her head, her face still concerned. You sighed, a small smile coming to your face before you took a small hand into your own, rubbing the soft skin to soothe her.
"Alright. I'm sorry about that joke, I won't make any of those types again, alright? I'm not going anywhere. Not without you, Paimon." You smiled, sincerity in your voice, making her smile and nod her head.
"Good! Paimon’ll make sure to keep that in mind for the future."
"I'll hold you to it." You smirked, walking up to the statue, finding interest in the large golden plate. You reached out, taking the glove off your hand to get a proper feel of the metal, before taking a step back in shock. The statues' indentations lit up and aquamarine, the one you were so used to seeing outside of terrestrial planes, before a deep thump resounded in your head- much like a heartbeat. A small swirl of wind danced around the statue before the orb held in place started to glow, small particles combing in the center before forming a small sigil with wings that flew straight towards your chest.
You felt a rush of cool air through your veins, like an excitement you couldn't explain, whips of teal surrounding your body as you could only take another step back and look to your uncovered hand to see for any physical changes as well- to which there were none. But you felt something. In your chest, your heart, something that was stirring and it didn't seem to slow down.
"Ooh! Did you just feel the elements of the world?" Paimon asked, allowing you to turn and face her, your face still showing a stunned expression from... whatever that was.
"Seems all you had to do was just touch the statue and you got the power of Anemo! As much as they may want it, people in this world can never get a hold of powers as easily as you..." She explained, crossing her arms over the matter, an idea popping into your head at the same time.
"I think I might know why-"
"Ah-ha, it's because you're not from this world to begin with. If we keep heading West from here, we'll eventually reach Mondstadt, the City of Freedom. Mondstadt is the city of wind because they worship the God of Anemo." She cuts you off, making you only hum at the action, allowing her to continue.
"So perhaps, because you got the power from the God of Anemo, you can find some clues there. There are also lots of bards there, so perhaps one of them has heard news of your friends."
"That isn't a bad idea, Paimon." You smiled, thankful she was so serious and straightforward with helping you find the twins, something that seemed to be floating around in your head as you took in everything from this new world. She was like an anchor to keep you grounded, and for that, you were extremely thankful to her- beyond words.
"Let's move then!" Obviously happy with your praise at her deduction and planning, though simple, it was a good and steady start- and that's what you needed at this moment.
"The elements in this world responded to your prayers and Paimon thinks that's a lovely sign." She finished, her gaze reaching behind you as some Slimes approached, eyes wide at the intrusion by the elemental mutants. You followed her gaze, finding the flaming creatures to be bouncing right in your direction, your surprise evident on your face.
"Ah, shit." You grumbled, taking a few steps back, your arm starting to stir up with energy. It felt like when you drank too much coffee, to the point where even your limbs were vibrating, wisps of turquoise enveloping your palm on instinct. The small slime soon was sucked into the vortex you had made, swirling around before getting blasted away, back onto the land- over the lake and away from you.
"Ugh, gross." You winced, noticing the slime that coated the land in front of you, and your dominant hand. Wiping your hand, you decided it was best to swim to the other side of the lake, following Paimon as you escaped the burning grasses. You could only laugh as she huffed about wanting "cool fighting powers" as well, reaching the end of the lake and making your way further in.
"You know, it may not be a blessing. Usually powers like these have consequences..." You said, wringing out your hair as the wind started to pick up, but this time it wasn’t by your own hand.
"You shouldn't say that! These powers are a blessing from the Archons and for that you should be grateful! They'd never allow anything bad to happen to the people they've blessed with their own two hands." A low rumble started to echo through the area, making you turn your body and look around for what was causing it as you continued your talk with Paimon.
"I get that... but still, usually the Gods and whatever powerful beings there are have some type of plan along with it- at least that's how it worked in my world."
"Then maybe you should consider our world works differently?" She quips her head.
"A god is a god." You huffed, the rumbling becoming louder before a dragon caught your vision, making you gasp in awe. Six wings, four limbs, a large tail, and decorated in patterns of blues that made it almost blend with the sky if its wings didn't hold an ethereal glow, a white underbelly contrasted with the rest of its body.
"Wow! What is that? There's something huge in the sky!"
"You guys have dragons here?" You exclaimed, walking in its direction to where it flew, making sure to lower your output of noise due to the camps that were littered nearby with humanoid creatures.
"It's heading to the heart of the forest, where we're going, so make sure to be careful." Paimon notes, keeping up with your pace as you jogged into the forest, collected some things along the way that could help in the future. By the time you had reached the forest, you slowed your pace to a comfortable walk, looking around and making sure not to run into anything aggressive- or the dragon you two had just seen.
        Maybe it continued flying anyways?
"Huh? Look at that." Paimon pointed in front of the both of you, the grumbling appearing once again.
        You were wrong.
Moving to hide behind one of the larger trees, you pressed your back against it before slowly turning your head to look at the scene in front of you, still making sure to keep your noise at the bare minimum. The dragon from before was standing before you, almost cautious of the person that stood before them, a short man dressed in turquoise and white, holding his hands outward to the dragon before him.
"Don't be afraid. It's alright now, I'm back." He spoke gently, ignoring the dangerous growls coming from the beast in front of him. It made you worry at the sight and activate the mask that was embedded into your earpiece, still watching as Paimon spoke up.
"Is he talking... to a dragon?" She questioned, right as your palms lit up with the Anemo power you had just gained, a glowing pattern forming as it burst with life, alerting the dragon and scaring it away with a scream of displeasure.
"Who's there?" The man questioned as he jumped back, his gaze in your direction before taking a few steps back, disappearing in a glow of light. Your hair felt like it was about to be yanked out as the dragon flapped its wings before taking off, leaving you dazed at what had just happened, and headache from the harsh tug. You stood there in shock for a bit, not saying anything as your hand buzzed and fizzled out, focusing on calming down your heart rate- deactivating your mask to breathe better as well.
"That was close! Paimon almost got blown away!" Your guide yelped. "Luckily Paimon managed to grab a hold of your hair! Thanks." She smiled, handed over her heart, and you felt your energy drain immensely in the moment.
"Good thing you didn't pull my hair out." You sighed, rubbing the aching spot to soothe your head as Paimon continued to speak, you following closely behind.
"This definitely has something to do with that weirdo who was talking to the dragon..." She trailed off.
"Is... that normal? Talking to dragons?" You asked, confusion written on your face, wanting to know if this was a common occurrence in this world.
"Of course not. But what's that? There's some kind of shiny red thingy on the rock over there." She pointed out. You both walked over to look at the glowing item, her warnings falling on deaf ears as Paimon spoke about never seeing anything like this before, making unable to help in this specific situation.
"Let's keep this, just in case." You mumbled, your bare hands picking up the gem(?) with ease before packing it into your belt, tucked away safely and unable to escape.
"Good idea, now let's get out of here."
"Agreed." You nodded, deciding to stroll through the forest for a bit, both to rest and catch up on your thoughts, maybe ask Paimon more about this world and how it worked- so you don't seem like a bumbling idiot to the locals. But before you could do any of that, a yell came from behind you, rushed footsteps following at the same time.
"You there! Stop right there!" A girl yelled, jumping across your field of vision off the small pass, dressed in red and white with long brown hair, rolling as she hit the ground before coming back up to a stand.
        "..."
        "Are you fucking kidding me?"

🕊️: "the lost prince" (6)
park seonghwa (박성화) - 2,269 words
Tumblr media
the lady came into the room as soon as she got the permission. she lowered her head a little, and Seonghwa and you bowed respectfully in front of her.
“you don't have to be this formal. and you can call me Iseul.”
she sat on a chair next to your boyfriend's bed. even her posture was showing how elegant and sophisticated she was.
“i wanted to come, because.. you know, news are spreading quite rapidly..”
“and so, you wanted to come and see the new city's attraction?”
Seonghwa sighed as he looked down. he felt deeply hurt — yet, he didn't let her speak.
“Seonghwa, honey, you should let her speak. don't be this rude. i know things are hard but no one would make fun of you.”
the tension in the atmosphere seemed to have increase so abruptly. Iseul was looking down, feeling almost guilty for coming here when the reasons that brought her here wasn't the ones Seonghwa talked about.
you softly grabbed Seonghwa's hand, to try and soothe him. your thumb was stroking his hand mindlessly.
the woman seemed to be waiting for something — and you weren't stupid: you knew she was waiting for a permission to keep going.
as you were still calming down Seonghwa, you mentioned her to keep going.
“to be honest with you Seonghwa.. i lost my child years ago. but i know that, somewhere else in this world, he's living. i just don't know where..”
the lady was looking at Seonghwa with a kind of protection in her eyes. she was talking about a tough time of her life, yet her eyes and whole face was showing off something else than sadness.
“i understand how you may feel. i understand how hard is it to have no family. since the day i lost my child, my husband is my only family. i believe you think this beautiful person by your side is your only family now? but you have a real family, blood related, waiting for you somwhere in this world. just as i'm waiting for my baby to come back home.”
a tear started to fall down your boyfriend's cheek, and then an another. you hated to see them. they were the physical representation of the pain he was feeling.
“how did you face the truth? there's one moment you have to accept the truth. you can't deny this for ever.”
“there is not a right way to do it. you know you had the choice when you realise you don't have the choice anymore.
the woman was looking at Seonghwa. you knew she was sharing the same pain as him deep down.
“if you're indeed the lost prince.. i'm sure the King and the Queen are waiting for you, and are ready to give you all their love.”
“i don't really wanna think about that.. about being.. the lost prince.. i'm not strong enough to handle this. i just can't be a prince.”
Seonghwa suddenly held on your hand tightly.
“plus, as y/n said to me right before you came.. our worlds would be different, and i can't imagine a life without her/him anymore.”
“oh, Seonghwa.. if you indeed are the lost prince.. why would you have to break up with her/him? that doesn't make sense. the King and the Queen would be thankful she/he was here for you throughout this tough moment of your life. and rules are less strict than you think! there is no reason they won't accept your soulmate.”
you frowned. you studied a lot royalty, monarchy and everything which was related to this world. and it was even your speciality.
“but every books i've read, and every people i talked to about this agreed with me: there is a lack of freedom as a prince. King and Queen often rule their child's life.”
the woman laughed. you wondered if she was in pain or something. her laugh almost sounded hypocrite and fake.
“what's written in books are not always true. things are not set for ever. they evolve through the time.”
Seonghwa squeezed your hand softly, and rested his head on your shoulders. he whispered ‘we'll see later’ to you. you were looking down to your hands linked together. the woman was looking at you both, with the same protection she showed before.
the whole atmosphere was less tensed than before.
###
later in the day, in a different place.
the woman was now wearing her crown again. she was stunnier than before. her hair was again tied up in the most gracefully way possible. her dress was quite simple, way different from the large dress from our clichés: white, with trompet sleeves, not that huge and with beautiful details.
she was walking through the corridors, and stopped in front of a door leading to a large living room. there were hundreds and hundreds of books on different shelfs. the room was bright because of the sun rays, and the light colours of the room.
a man was standing in front of a window. he was wearing a crown too. no need to be smart to know he was the woman's husband. she approached him slowly.
“each new days without our son is hurtful..”
the man said almost in a whisper. this words weren't enough to describe the pain in his heart the destiny took his son away from him, his only treasure.
“i talked to him today. he's so beautiful.. he looks like you.”
     “you.. what?”
the man turned over to face his wife. she seemed to be happy, after 16 years of sadness.
“you don't want to stay updated with the news because you're afraid we finf our son. you're afraid of the day we will be reunited together, because you missed him so much that you don't know how you will react. or you're afraid we may learn we've found our son, but dead. you're afraid of good and bad news. but i'm not. this little human lived inside of me for 9 months. i held his head when i had to breastfeed him. he's the only one for whom i went on my knees to tie his shoes. he's the only one i cried for when he came to the world.”
the woman wiped away few tears. she was trying to hold them back, but it was hurting even more: she needed to cry. not to mention the knot in her throat because of her tears.
“he means the world to him and, unlike you, i'm waiting for this day they would say they found him, or they have a serious trail. and today.. they said they were having a trail.”
     “what do you mean..?”
the man seemed to be too shocked to process. any information seemed to be fully understood.
     “it's been a while i didn't say 'Seonghwa'..”
the man approached his wife, and took her shoulders. his eyes were teary. he couldn't believe what he's heard from his wife. he waited for this day for so long..
“when i'm seriously thinking about abdicating.. stars give me my son back to take my place..”
he kissed his wife's forehead. the emotions were taking the leads, and he couldn't hold back his tears anymore.
“so you were serious, in this letter..”
     “you found it?”
the king sighed. he starred to walk around, aimlessly, and stopped again in front of the window.
“the waiting is so hard for me. it consumed all my energy. and i'm getting old.. i don't want the country to see me getting old, and i'm not living in my time to take decision. i wanted to wait for fleur-de-lis to come back before making this letter public. the country needs him as a king now. and a new queen.”
“i'm not sure he's ready for that.. and his girlfriend/boyfriend either.”
she sat on a sofa, looking at his husband's shapes.
     “his what?”
“hey, understand him. understand them. he has no idea he's a prince. and even though she/he believes Seonghwa is the prince, just as the policemen in charge of the case, Seonghwa doesn't want to hear this possibility. he just followed his heart by dating her/him. he wasn't doing anything else because he has no idea of the rules.”
the woman was strongly protecting your relationship with his son. she would let her body and her soul to protect you both in front of the king, because one thing she concluded about the meeting is that you were both in love and none of you was ready to face this.
“they're of course not ready to hear the truth one moment or another. they're afraid their worlds would be different and they would have to break up.”
“that's true! they have to break up! it's not the rules, and he has to marry a real princess, not a peasant!"
“first, because she/he comes from an another background doesn't mean she/he is a peasant. you better take this back, Park Junghoon. then, you can't break them apart. you know he still can lives by his someone's sides, even though their worlds are different. and finally, if you go against them, i doubt you would have a heir. do you wanna stay there until you die so i take the leads instead because you don't have a heir — or should i say because you refused to let him live his love story for shitty rules? do you wanna be the king until your last breath? do you want your country to see you getting old, and to see you die? do you want your only son to be mad at you because you imposed him your rules when the only thing he was asking for was to be reunited again with his family by his girlfriend's/boyfriend's sides?”
she was speaking firmly to be sure his husband would understand. but honestly, it wasn't the first time they were arguing. since someone took their son away from them, their relationship got even more fragile days after days.
“no, you don't. so if you wanna make this letter public, you better accept her/him when he'll be back. or else, you would definitely lose him. and me this time. no queen anymore, no prince as future king, no daughter-in-law/son-in-law anymore to be a future queen/king. you'd be alone and you'd have to stay there until the end.”
the queen stood up from her sofa, and started to walk away.
“take this as a way to thank him/her. because since the very first day they met each other until now, she/he never let Seonghwa down. and for the moment, Seonghwa has no one else. without this person by his side, i don't even think he would still be alive..”
she opened the door. but before leaving, she stopped to add one last thing.
“your daughter-in-law/son-in-law, if you accept it, is Choi y/n.”
the woman left the room. the king was speechless — he knew his wife was right. he couldn't take you away from Seonghwa. impossible.
###
after the woman left Seonghwa's room, you gave your boyfriend his clothes to be comfortable in his own clothes rather than in the hospital's clothes. and you even changed yourself in more comfortable clothes.
Seonghwa ate the meal tray normally, and the nurse even did her best to get you one to eat with him. it wasn't the best food you've ever eaten, yet it was enough for you.
and after this moment with him, eating and talking about everything and anything, you both layed down in each other's arms. you were looking through the window, at the starry night.
“a clear night like that.. it reminds me of our prom date.”
you were almost daydreaming, thinking about this night.
“it was literally two days ago.”
Seonghwa gently mocked you. he was looking at your sparkling eyes with a bright smile.
“prince of my heart, don't make fun of me.”
“the only kingdom i wanna rule.”
Seonghwa giggled as he pulled you closer to his chest. he even kissed your forehead multiple times.
“i really don't want to be the prince. i hope my family is somewhere else..”
“if we forget about the fact that would mean having a statute.. i just wish you find your family. them or not, i don't care. i want to thank your real mom for giving birth to you.”
you wrapped both your arms around your boyfriend's waist. you also rested your head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat.
“i'm afraid to meet my parents, to be honest.. i don't know how things will be going.”
“i understand the unknown may scare you. but you can't avoid this for ever. it's hurting you, you know that. and it's hurting them. you'll get to know the truth about what happened. there's a lot to win by finding them, and meeting them.”
Seonghwa only nodded. he was now the one looking at the dark sky while you were half asleep against his chest, under the blanket. the stars and the mood was lightening up perfectly the room, without making it too bright. it didn't take you too much time to fall into a light sleep.
“i'm so afraid y/n... i don't wanna lose you by meeting them.. you said the truth thinking about me but.. i'm ready to give up on my family for you..”
he kissed your forehead as he held you tighter. he was looking at you sleeping, and quickly fell asleep too.

She finished taking care of him for the night before making her way away from his room, stopping in the doorway. Nervously she glanced back at him.
“If there is nothing else, I will return in the morning to change your dressings,” she added flatly.
As she waited for him to break the silence she felt as she would be sick. Her stomach did flips and her heart raced. Her fingers trembled as she held to the frame of the door. The memory of the raids and what she'd lost had gripped at her heart, squeezing it mercilessly. She hadn't been hit with such grief since the tragedy had struck and desperately wished to be relieved of her duties for the night. Thankfully he waved her off in dismissal.
He shifted an arm up under his head as he laid in bed after she'd left. He still felt that initial tug in his gut every time she was near. It was a puzzling feeling. One he had neither felt nor understood any better as the months passed. He couldn't help but wonder what it was that pulled him to her the way that it had.
His mind wandered over the possibilities as sleep began to weigh against his eyelids. Ivar's eyes fell to the doorway as he rolled over and for a fleeting moment she stood before him. A smile tugged at his lips as slumber washed over him.
------
Ivar's brothers couldn't help but notice he, more often than not, was off in the forest and that she was also m.i.a. along with him.
"Where do you think he goes?" Hvitserk asked Ubbe, nodding in the direction of their brother as he caught sight of him crawling from town.
Ubbe watched until he disappeared among the trees. "I don't know," he offered simply.
"He is different, yes?" Hvitserk asked turning back to his brother, his curiosity getting the better of him.
He couldn't deny the change in Ivar's behavior. One most would never notice, but the sons of Ragnar were brothers and saw things hidden to the rest of the world. It hadn't taken him long to notice Ivar's calmer demeanor. There had been no outbursts. No instigation. Not even an arguement between him and Sigurd.
"He has been much more quiet lately, yes," Ubbe agreed.
A wide grin spread itself across Hvitserk's face. He'd been wanting to figure out the mystery ever since the air had begun to change around Ivar. Asking Sigurd was out of the question, the youngest brothers' relationship already shaky at its best, but he wanted help.
This was his chance.
Ubbe's eyes finally found Hvitserk. Whenever he got that glint in his eyes they always ended up in trouble. He doubted now would be any different.
"No," Ubbe said firmly, though it was hard to resist the urge to go along with whatever scheme Hvitserk was planning.
His grin deflated immediately. "No what?" Hvitserk asked feigning ignorance to Ubbe's presumptive denial.
"No to whatever it is you are plotting," Ubbe said definitively.
"What are you denying our brother now?" Sigurd asked casually as he came upon his brothers at the market.
"Nothing," Ubbe lied, his eyes staying with Hvitserk a moment longer. Regardless of Hvitserk's involvement in any mischief, the eldest son of Aslaug knew absolutely nothing good would come from Sigurd finding out about Hvitserk's offer and tagging along.
"Then let him do whatever it is he wants to do," Sigurd offered in defense of Hvitserk.
Hvitserk's eyes caught sight of a familiar, raven-haired slave headed off in the same direction and quickly sided with his older brother.
"Ubbe is right," he said with a quick smile. "It is nothing."
His brother looked at him quizzically, but declined to dig further into his sudden change of heart, hopeful he had listened to him for once.
"I have found something much more entertaining to do anyway," he lied with a sly smirk, motioning to Maragrethe as she walked past through the crowd.
Sigurd and Ubbe followed where he pointed; Sigurd smirking deviously and Ubbe's jealousy creeped up knowing what the two would end up doing. Hvitserk left in her direction, but changed his path for the woods as soon as he was clear of his brothers' sight
------
"No. Like this. Ég er Glohg-ving-uhr ehld-hoos-feef-uhl pah-kah-roif."
"Ég er Gløggvingr eldhúsfifl bakrauf," she repeated with a prideful smile. Ehrlana felt she now knew enough to pass for any other Northerner thanks to Ivar. Surprisingly.
"Good," he said with a slight chuckle.
"What?" she asked growing suspicious.
"It means I am a stingy good for nothing ass," he admitted letting his laugh grow.
"Ivar!" she said feigning offence.
She pulled a bit of grass out and tossed it his way, but laughed all the same. He batted the blades away, his laugh dying down.
"You know enough. What else is there to teach you?" he asked with a shrug.
"I guess nothing," she said convincingly with a sigh, lying back on the ground. "You are useless now."
"I am not useless," he started angrily.
She didn't fight verybhard to contain her laughter.
"That is not funny," he said with a slight pout in his voice.
She shifted an arm under her head and watched as the clouds drifted by in the early evening sun. "I was only joking," she admitted.
Ivar was the one thing that kept her safe among Kattegat and its residents. Everyone feared his wrath and wouldn't dare touch what was his. Including her. But it wasn't his protection alone that made him useful to her. It was their unspoken friendship. He was the one person who, ironically, made her feel normal. Declan was a friend and an ally, yes, but he still treated her as her father's daughter - as a fragile princess. Ivar simply let her be and she returned the favor.
"I know that. I am not stupid," he countered; though a smirk tugged at his lips.
Their ease had been an unexpected side effect of his lessons. One he hadn't fought. He wouldn't deny it felt good to have at least one person seemingly accept him. He also wouldn't let it cloud his judgement of her however. She was after all a slave. He knew what levels they would stoop to in order to gain their freedom. Ehrlana hadn't yet tried anything near as disgraceful as Margatethe, but he wasn't letting their budding friendship distract his knowledge that one day she would. They all did eventually.
-----
The scene unfolding before Hvitserk was far from what he had expected - though he hadn't been one hundred percent sure of what he would have found, but Ivar getting along with her was the last thing he'd imagined.
-----
Ehrlana watched the clouds as they drifted by. "You could teach me the ways of your Gods," she offered as a solution to their educational plateau.
Ehrlana had been watching as the others participated in the celebrations. She’d always been warned about the pagans and their violent nature. While the sacrifices were brutal, she began to understand why they did the things they did. She wasn’t sure if it was the shock to her system at such brutality or the passion they all seemed to share for their rituals, but whatever the reason, their steadfast belief in the Gods fascinated her.
"Won't your Christian God become jeslous," he added with a laugh.
Her family, their people, the neighboring countries…all of them practiced Christianity. But Ehrlana was different. She always had been. As she grew, her need to question her path in life had grown along with her. A non-believer was valueless to her father and he had been furious with her after voicing the curiosity; making sure to keep her aversion well hidden and contained - never surpassing the initial defiance.
"This my home now, yes?" she replied, ignoring his mocking inquiry.
Unexpectedly his heart jumped with her words. Excitement sent a slight chill over him. "Is it?"
She sat up and looked directly in his eyes. It had been long enough that she knew she was here indefinitely. Even with the scare of being discovered, her family had yet to show. If Kattegat was not her home by now it never would be.
"I have not left." Though they both knew as a slave she had no power to decide on travel plans. "I have been here long enough to accept your city as my own. Kattegat is home. You have taught me your tongue well. Now I wish to learn your customs. Of your Gods. The harvest celebration will soon be upon us and I want to be a part of it. I can think of no one better to show me how," she added playing to his ego.
He forced the smile that attempted to show itself away. He would never allow her to see how excited he was to convert a Christian; even if it was just Ehrlana.
"I will think about it," he said with a shrug and slid from atop his rock to leave.
Ehrlana smiled, knowing he would eventually agree. "Then I will wait eagerly for your decision," she said playfully as she stood and followed him. Both unaware of his brother's prying eyes.
-----
As the weeks turned to months Ehrlana’s paranoia over discovery relaxed more and more, eventually fading away. But it would soon return.
She was back at the market restocking ingredients for another batch of Ivar’s balm, it now a part of their nightly routine. And even though he never admitted it, she saw how well it was working. His had pain visibly lessened and she’d been forced to wake him each morning. It was a small victory, one unacknowledged, but a victory nonetheless.
Addis caught sight of her familiar face and followed Ehrlana from stall to stall. His breath nearly caught when she turned his way. He'd been right. Ehrlana was in alive. And here, in Kattegat.
As she made her way to the next stall his voice called out her name, just as Ivar crawled around the corner of a nearby building. The unknown man rushed over to her spouting off something about raids on her homeland and her father. Declan's warning of her discovery and the fear she'd felt came flooding back.
This is who Declan had warned about!
She desperately wanted the man to stay quiet. She grabbed him by the arms to stop his excited movements. He continued rambling on as her eyes darted around looking for Ivar. He had slowed to a stop, hidden and watching. “Ní rachaidh do chabhair ar aghaidh,” she said with a rushed smile.
Speaking her native tongue was the only way to ensure Ivar wouldn’t understand anything if he was near. Her voice was soft and feminine, but there was a ferocity behind it that conveyed her seriousness.
"Ach ní féidir linn labhairt anseo. Buailfimid anocht. Seolfaidh mé focal. Anois téigh.” Her gaze eventually left him and found Ivar. “Téigh!”
Her chest tightened. She could feel the heat of her skin as it flushed with fear.
Her eyes found his and she wrestled it into control and tried her best to prepare for what was to come next.
She glanced over her shoulder at Addis while he rushed from the square. She couldn’t help but notice he left in the direction of Declan’s as he disappeared behind one of the many buildings. When she turned back she fully expected to be met with a barrage of questions from Ivar, but he'd continued on toward the Blacksmith's. Strangely he had decided not to confront her, though she knew he'd seen them.
------
Addis fled to find Declan to tell him of his news. "Declan! Declan, she is here!” he said between breaths when he’d caught up with him. “Ehrlana….I have found her,” he finished, closing the gap between them.
His voice fell to a whisper. As if the two were conspiring against the Queen of Kattegat herself. But this was their way out of this place. This was their way home. He didn’t need listening ears to ruin his plans of leaving.
Declan’s heart dropped. His mind went blank, desperately trying to find a way around all of this. “In a few months time you and I will be in the King's hall, feasting on our behalf,” Addis continued excitedly before Declan could speak. "I’m sending word tonight."
Then, just like that he’d gone, leaving Declan more worried than ever. He had no idea what to do. He'd tried his best to keep Addis from seeing her. He'd run circles around the two for weeks now. The man had no clue just how much danger he could be putting her into. Declan knew Addis was only thinking of the wealth and fame that would come along with such a rescue. He knew the man would spin a tale of some damsel in distress that he valiantly saved. He may have been his father's friend, but he was a storyteller first. Addis could make shoveling manure sound impressive. Especially if it would give his reputation a boost.
-----
Ivar's attention was grabbed with the initial shouting Addis had done. It was the same man who'd been with Ehrlana earlier. He met with someone Ivar had never seen before. His watchful gaze remained focused on the two men when her name was mentioned. From his perch in the blacksmith's he could see everything. He only wished he could hear them.
Sparks flew from the blade he was sharpening, landing in nearby piles of hay unnoticed. Smoke slowly began to rise.
"I do not wish to burn alive today," Sigurd said to his brother as he handed his axe to the smith. Only Sigurd's irritating voice could pull him away from the scene unfolding before him. "Perhaps you should stop staring at your boyfriend and pay attention to your work," he added pointing out at the two men.
Ivar sneered at his brother. Only Sigurd could manage to pull him from the scene. Thanks to him he missed most of their conversation.
"Jealous?"
Sigurd huffed and turned his attention to the smith, watching as his axe was sharpened. Ivar's eyes went back to Addis and Declan, but they had already disappeared. He would simply have to ask Ehrlana later who he was and what exactly he was up to.

Mario Lopez speaks out on Pager U about transgenderism and the idea that parents are letting their children to choose their own gender, to which Mario says, it's dangerous to let your child choose their gender when they're not old enough to make such decisions.
This is what he had to say:
“Look, I’m never one to tell anyone how to parent their kids obviously, and I think if you come from a place of love, you really can’t go wrong.”
“But at the same time, my God, if you’re three years old and you’re saying you’re feeling a certain way or you think you’re a boy or a girl or whatever the case may be, I just think it’s dangerous as a parent to make this determination,” he continued. “Then, well, okay, then you’re going to a boy or a girl, whatever the case may be … It’s sort of alarming and my gosh, I just think about the repercussions later on.”
The 45-year-old entertainment host explained that when you’re that young “you don’t know anything about sexuality yet, you’re just a kid.”

Reading this, I would applaud for his statement because if we're gonna be responsible parents (as a privilege given by God), we're are to guide our children in the right way (in the way of serving and loving God) and leave the discussion of sex and gender when they are older.
Children are not mentally prepared for things like that neither they should be thinking like that.
However, sadly Lopez had to "apologize" for his statement on children picking their gender. Because his fame is much more important than God.
In a statement to PEOPLE on Wednesday, Lopez apologized for his remarks.
“The comments I made were ignorant and insensitive, and I now have a deeper understanding of how hurtful they were,” he said. “I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself. Moving forward I will be more informed and thoughtful.”

This is no surprise to Christians. We are called to stand by the truth, and proclaim the gospel to those who are lost. Anyone who denies this stance concerning sexuality, is ultimately denying Christ.
Matthew 16:25-26 KJV
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Am I saying that telling an LGBT person this precious truth, is hate? No. Disagreement does not 100% equal hate. We are called to love our enemies and pray for those that persecute and hate us. But by no means we should shrink away from the faith because of the majority will be against you for standing for the truth.
To any of the LGBT people who will see this post, I will let you know: I don't hate you. No, in fact I will not stand for unjust treatment of LGBT kids rejected by their families. But, at the same time, I won't say that I will condone that behavior, because that's not how God created you to be.
Genesis 1:27 KJV
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
The truth is, we inherited the sinful nature of Adam and Eve, and not it caused a wall between our relationship with God, it affected our relationship with our fellow man, including our sexual relationships and how we identify ourselves.
I don't think anyone of us realizes that identifying ourselves anything other than the gender we were assigned to since birth, is a form of hatred towards God, when He had loved us and considered us His most precious treasure.
God knew us before He "formed us in our mother's womb" (Jeremiah 1:5) and has determined who we are, personality and genderwise.
And sadly, because of our rebellious, sinful nature, we choose to reject God's ways and decide we can choose our gender. God doesn't want this for His creation. He wants us to live with Him, and fix our relationship with Him. And unless there is anyway to undo this constant rebellion, any sinner (including LGBT people) that doesn't acknowledge this as an act of sin, will not be part of the kingdom of heaven.
1 Cornithians 6:9-10 ESV
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
So you're probably asking, "How can I even hope to enter heaven if God says that anyone including LGBT people who does these things can't enter there"?
Well, I have good news for you. God has provided a way for all of us to really enter heaven. How he did it?
John 3:16-17 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him [obeys His word] should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Because God loves all of you so much, that He gave His Only Son [Jesus], who He also love, that you will feel that nothing in this world, even what you identify as, will never satisfy your needs. The only one who can fill the emptiness in your heart, is Jesus. Who took the hit for you, for the punishment of sin. It was our sin (including homosexuality) that crucified Him, and it should have been us who should be crucified there. But Jesus decided to take our place there.
Because of LOVE!
It was love that by what He did, is so we can have a second chance to enter heaven again and have a relationship with God, like a father who is waiting for his rebellious son to come back.
Because God loves us so, He will not force His love towards those that don't want it. The beauty of how He created us, is that he gave us free will and the freedom to choose of we want to follow and obey Him, or choose our own way, but end up lost forever.
I hope that even someone out there, may see this that may have the hope and desire to be right with God again.
God is calling you home! The only question remains, do you want to return home?
