Making my first £10 in Royalties

I have a locket that I always intended to keep my first £10 in royalties inside. But I expected that to take several months.

I never even dreamed that would happen in the first month, the first week, that Changeling was on sale.

And then the absolutely wonderful reviews? I honestly couldn't have hoped for more.

Day 5 of the #writerfriendschallenge Name a witchy read. Nettle & Bone by K A Kingfisher is a terrific witchy story with heavy fairy tale vibes. Love the unlikely heroine and her even unlikelier cadre of helpers, the classic tropes and the twists of them. A fabulous five star short read. Plotter or Panster? These days both. I use to be a dedicated panster, writing whatever came to mind. When the characters wanted to share their story I sat down to listen and write their story. I had no idea when or what would happen but I was having fun learning about their lives. Now, I have some tools that help me plan ahead and make better choices on the time lines of this new story that has come to fruition. No surprise it is a contemporary romance idea and the theme is hospitality. I’m a believer of: Write what you know. I am a memoir writer and I tend to lean towards my own life experiences to share. But this new idea is going to be fun to write. I am in the plotting stage. I actually drafted an outline and have a spread sheet for the characters, names, attributes and everything in between. Who am I? Lol. Now, back to the writing and when I say writing it means all things writing; plotting, researching, creating content, newsletters, and actually writing new words. Day 9 of the #fictionwriterchallenge - What's Your Big Author Dream?

I don't know if my dreams would be considered "big" author dreams, really

I'm not trying to be a "best selling author" or make it onto the NYT Best Seller List, or even be a houshold name. My goals, dreams, are comparatively simple.

I want my books to be read, and my characters to be loved.

I'd, ideally, like to be earning enough from my books to fascilitate my continuing to write them.

But my main goal is for people to read my books, to love my characters, and to spread enjoyment with a quality product.

Day 4! What’s my favorite writing brew you ask? Well in earlier times it was a Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte with whip or a Flat White. Favourite Whispered Words… What if… these are my favourite two words. They trigger my imagination and the creative process. Just the other day I was in waiting in traffic and all of a sudden I hear a faint whisper, ‘What if the car in front of you drove off the bridge?’ Just like that the imagination takes over and starts to list the reasons why the person in the car would want to drive off the bridge, who are they, where were they going? Where did they come from? Are they alone? Why now? Oh how I love the creative process! Where do I get these great writing prompts?
