Not me deciding that I wanna figure out how does Macaques dojo work, cuz I couldnt seem to find any ideas of it on the internet lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay so long long LONG rant:
Ik that in canon the whole place looks kinda-- moldy and shit and I get the lot of hc about how Macaque probably doesnt even live there since its in a very industrial outer neighborhood of Megaplois, and also it probably isnt really decorated or looks like someone is living in there at all, but I like to think that he has standards and they put like 272636373 nois cancelation seals on their bedroom so he can sleep camly when he actually can sleep (since in my hc Macaque suffers from insomnia (its a pretty common hc tho, but you get it)) and I think the outer circle of Megaplois is even tho industral and under constructuion on most parts, its probably more quiet than downtown
And I also like to imagine, Macaque even tho if not commited to a place will make it more homy. But looking at my reference pictures, in the dojo there were also a lot of posters and paintings (and in MKAGC Macaque did mention he might have a poster of wukong soooo~~)
For the layout I went after whatever felt right, since I had like 4 pictures to piece together a two-story house with a gallery(??) so its actually just me deciding what I want and where I wanna put it
(Here are the screenshots from lmk s1ep9 I used:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay Okay if you couldnt tell, for some reason im really hyped about this stuff so im going to lead you trough my thougtprocess, when imagining this whole thing, in order from ground level to gallery
1. Ground level:
Tumblr media
Ahh yes ground level: the problem child
(Im going to keep it somewhat brief here cuz I wrote a shit ton of explanations for it, but that somehow got deleted which I am super pissed about btw)
So I saw that a lot of hc with Macaques place are mostly that first floor is the dojo and the second floor is the living area, buuut~~ based on the screenshots of the series that doesnt make any sense. My reasoning? Simple really, its bc you can see the ceiling If you are standing in the dojo. This could lead to the conclusion that:
"Okay maybe then there is no second floor just a gallery in there somewhere and thats it".
Sure we can say that, but then you would ignore the fact that you cant see the front door of the building when Macaque slams Mk into a weaponstand.
"Okay then its on the other side of the room that we never got to see in the episode"
I mean maybe sure but to me from an animation point of view it just doesnt make sense, just why would they flipp the camera angle like that (I mean anyone can think whatever they want, everyones opinion is valid, its not like anyone would ever argue me on this one ((or read this whole brainrot trough in the first place lol)))
Haha anyways regardless of anything, let's go back to talking about the first floor, shall we?
Everything is pretty self explenatory: when you come in on the front door youll see a little shoe rack where you can but your shoes, and one stair to seperate the ante-room from the rest of the house
Then theres a long hall that leads to the enterence of the storageroom, the random room and the staircase that leads to the second floor
I couldnt decide on what to put in that big room-- I had no clue -- I was thinking maybe Macaque could let other people rent it for a few days of maybe theres a shop with an owner whos ranting the place from Macaque (I think thats an interasting concept, but I didnt explore any of them) oh well thats that tho
"""somewhat brief""""
Second floor:
Tumblr media
This was probably the easiest, since 90% of it is the dojo
But before that when you walk up to the second floor you can see a big boubel door that opens to the dojo, and a normal door that opens to the bathroom, which is strategicly placed there by yours truely. There is big brain logic behind it,, it might be inconvinient for Macaque to walk down the stairs from his bedroom trough the dojo to the bathroom (but also he can just shadow portal there--), but when ocasionally he mentors Mk, he might have to go to the bathroom while hes at Macaques place and I dont think Macaque would apritiate someone stomping trough his personal area, and thats why the bathroom is conviniently placed next to the dojo and not that far from the bathroom I know im a genius (**read everything in the bathroom part with a lot of sarcasm**)
Anyways, we couldnt even see all four of the dojos walls so that was also a 'gamble', but I went with a simple bouble door that I mentioned before and two weapon stands (yes those are weapon stands) and other than that you can see the rest of the room on the screenshots, theres also the staircase and that has some closet underneath it, but thats about it
The gallery (my personal favorit):
Tumblr media
Looking at my reference pictures i could see that the dojo took up a lot of space almost taking up the 1/2 of the building, which I think is reasonable and kinda cool, but that means small living area which I think is even cooler (I am a huge fan of small practical spaces, they feel so so cozy)
So Yeah the living space: mostly two rooms that I also illustrated on top of this post, (you probably saw it) with a balkony thingy before the enterence of the rooms, where you can look down and see the entirety of the dojo, good for observing.
When you go in the door (actually havent decided if I want to put a door there or curtains for style but meh who knows who cares), youll enter the small but spacious kitchen. I dont see the Six Eared Macaque as a homecook, more of a fake cooking guy (only making basic foods like eggs or toast, maybe ocasionally pancake), hints there is no built in stove or owen just a portable stove, a kettle and a toaster and a small fridge that has MKs drawing (that he drew for them at the end of season 3) magneted there :]
Other than that theres a sink and an old television, he got from the randomest place ever, maybe he fished it out of the trash idk, but he put it on top of the cabinets (rarely watches anything on it)
On the baseplan you can see that there was supposed to be a small table next to the sink with a chair, but it didn't make it to the final drawing cuz let's be honest: drawing interior in correct perspective without a reference picture is just not my strongest artskill I posess, so I got pissed and put a trashcan in there, Macaque can eat in his bed
Talking about bed, let's move on to the Six Eared Macaques room:
It is very small but pretty comfortable with a small bed but a shit ton of pillows for a good nights sleep, other than that there are a nightstand that has the Lantern on it (I know it sorta got lost/destroyed after defeating LBD but I wanted to put it there) and a drawer.
The nightstand probably doesnt have a lot innit, just some nick-nacks and tissues and maybe snacks, or a book or something, the drawer stores some of his clothes, but since I like to think that Macaque is a fashion icon that wont be able to fit most of their clothes, so maybe he stores them in a pocket dimension of shadows, and only has some esentials there when he needs to get ready quickly.
And we could talk about the posters plastered around the room, but most of them are kinda self-explanatory, but there are the poster of his shadowplaly of the hero and the warrior, some drawing, a "Hang in there babygirl!" Poster with a cat on it hanging in there, a poster of the monkey king (heh), phantom of the opera poster and a-- well--- that ones for my bestie hope she'll notice it, its a spies are forever poster (really fun musical a of spies, go watch it its on youtube), and a drawing he brought( maybe)
And thats about the bedroom
And we are still not done, how are we feeling about that?? Huh?? (You dont have to answert, this shit took me about 2 hours to write :] )
LAST PLACE: the corner of the windows opposit the kitchen and the bedroom. Its just a chill little place with pillows and blankets, where someone can bundle up and enjoy some tea or read a book or brood, whatever the monkey prefers. The special thing about it, is that you cant access the place without knowing how to levitate, fly, jump high, or use portals, not that much of a game changer since more than half of the lmk cast could get up there, but still a bit of a barrier in my opinion
AAAAAND~~~ thats it omg
Hi hello if you read this trough could you please comment or reblog with this: "🐵" cuz I wanna know about the brave soilders who went trough this immense amount of clownery,,, holly mother---
If you read this all 👏👏👏 you are amazing thank you for appreciating my work this much, have an amazing day or night ✨🪲

Acowar Review✨✨ sjm needs to pay for my therapy✨✨
Its not as infuriating as acomaf but its still… bad.
Point 1: the court of ignorance and dumbassery
Lets cut to the chase. why the FUCK didnt feyre read Tamlin and Luciens minds at ANYPOINT while she was doin her hot girl shit of taking the spring court down??? huh sjm??? why is your fmc only powerful when convenient. So much could have been cut down. Acowar was way too long.
The whole destroying of the spring court didnt even make that much sense. Im all for a girlie getting back at the people who wronged her but feyre ended up hurting a lot of innocent people in the process. Feyre even tries to ignore the consequences of her actions. She had to invade peoples minds and manipulate people to get them to turn against tamlin and all this could have been avoided if she read his damn mind and learned he was a double agent. Lucien even hinted towards it
Part One: Princess of Carrion »
Chapter Six
None. It was either go to war with the Night Court and Hybern, or ally with Hybern, let them try to stir up trouble, and then use that alliance to our own advantage further down the road." "What do you mean," I breathed. But Lucien realized what he'd said, and hedged, "We have enemies in every court. Having Hybern's alliance will make them think twice." Liar. Trained, clever liar.
If feyre is supposed to be so smart, and she did pick up on this, why didnt she do anything? This is so frustrating.
Then once she leaves the spring court i found myself frankly not caring. Acomaf hadnt given me enough to care about the inner circle so i didnt and sjm cant make me like rhysand. which i have so many gripes but for word counts sake let me name my main ones
Point 2: Sarah Janet Maas and her shitty love interests
the ignoring rhysand sexual assault of feyre and EXCUSING it and his little habit of not telling his court things
Part Two: Cursebreaker »
Chapter Twelve
Was it going on before you even left?" I whipped my head to him, even if I could barely make out his features in the dark. "I never touched Rhysand like that until months later." "You kissed Under the Mountain." "I had as little choice in that as I did in the dancing." "And yet this is the male you now love." He didn't know-he had no inkling of the personal history, the secrets, that had opened my heart to the High Lord of the Night Court. They were not my stories to tell
here we have sjm acknowledging that yeah, rhysand Sexually Assaulted Feyre UtM in Acotar. Without her consent he dressed her inappropriately (which she was uncomfortable with) had her dance provocatively in his lap, kissed her, and made her drink alcohol so she wouldn't remember the details all without her consent. Yet Sjm is going “its fine” now and feyre herself going “you just dont get it…” ⁉️⁉️⁉️
Now see if sjm actually planned for rhysand to become the love interest why didnt she just avoid all this by having Amarantha make rhysand do this to feyre? Because that would have solved some issues but no. Because Rhysand did all this of his own free will in acotar. He actively chose to do this to feyre. To humiliate her and anger Tamlin because rhysand is obsessed with Tamlin.
Rhysand also loves to not tell his own court things. I was and still am very angry over him not telling Mor, Azriel, Cassien and at the very least his Wife about his plan with the court of nightmares. Just why.
Mors anger towards Nesta also makes no sense. sjm stop writing girl on girl hate challenge impossible
Point three: That one toy story scene “I dont wanna play with you anymore!”
Now tamlin. Tamlin tamlin tamlin im so sorry love for what sjm has done to you. If i start ill never stop. What Tamlin said to feyre and rhysand at the high lords meeting was out of pocket but he also wasnt wrong about some things. Also from established character these actions make no sense and his actions havent made sense since acomaf because sjm threw him and his character away to play with shadow daddy and bad morals. But she also cant commit to making a character of hers actually evil so tamlin saves the whole day by bringing the autumn court to fight and saving rhysand life. Tamlin has redeemed himself by sjm standards but she then wrote the holiday novel which i have read and detested.
Overall the plot was fine. i guess. it probably looked better when compared to the characters.
Sjm learn to redeem characters outside of “ooh they were abused and have trauma so everything they do is okay” for guys and “she fell in love/had sex with the most PERFECT MALE TO EVER MASCULINE.” its boring and flat. Also i know what happens in Acosf (i will not be reading that ty) so wtf happened to Nesta bro. she got the tamlin treatment. boooo 👎
to end off heres some of my favorite highlights from acowar 50%+ thru the book.

okay halo people new question: what do you think chief actually looks like??? i LOVE masked characters (cough miraak) because i love the chance to sort of invent them physically below the mask. for that reason i hope to never actually see a canon john face in the games (despite being the literal greenest newbie to play halo on the planet rn) BUT i really enjoy trying to think of it myself??? some ideas i got browsing:
Tumblr media
from the halo: escalation comic so the site said. i LOVE his baby blues i love how deep and colorful they are. i cant tell if he looks a little tan under there or it's just the shadow? i've seen somewhere the games or books describe him as too pale bc he rots in his armor all the time lmao. BUT i really really enjoy the oceanic eyes. idk if this comic ever shows his full face, i saw others did, but i would be SO interested to see what they do with the rest of him bc he'd probs look sick as fuck in the dark horse style
THIS ONE to me is gorgeous. i 100% love his hair here, it's exactly how i imagined it. brown and short, but like, military short but NOT a buzz (sorry i hate him w a buzzcut. its most probable but i cant😭) big fan of the widow's peak/hairline and tbh i really like his scars? im all for him being fucked up. part of me also wonders if his face would possibly be more protected??? but also all i know about spartans is that becoming a spartan Hurts so maybe they're like,,,, GMO scars
(ik i legit haven't touched deviantart for like....a decade) THIS was a cool collection. OP points out some similarities that are interesting (mainly his short brown hair, straight nose, and SCRUFF🥰🥰🥰). my favorite favorite favorite is probably second column from left, three down, the one where he has 117 buzzed into his undercut. that shit goes fuckin HARRRRRRRDDDDDDD. i tried to reverse search it but i couldn't rly find the OG of that one, which is sad 😔
that's all!!! i just thought it'd be cool to get ppl's thoughts. i saw a lot of comments that were basically like "chief has no face to me, he's the helmet" and tbh it makes a lot of sense, esp since that's legit how he was designed for the express purpose of first person feeling/relatability. feel free to reply or dm me your ideas!!!

Anakin skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi wan Kenobi, Cody.
Overall Headcanons
Tumblr media
Back on my Star Wars bullshit, so heres some overall hcs about some of the characters I love, enjoy. Ft some x reader elements. Can yall tell which character ive been most obsessed with lately?
Let me know if you guys are interested in more like this, as it’s a good way to get the writing juices flowing.
Mild nsfw stuff under the cut, but it’s nothing wild.
Anakin Skywalker
-          Anger issues, but would never yell at you as it reminds him of his time as a slave
-          Gets nightmares about his time as a slave and his fears.
-          Wears black because it sets him away from the other jedi. They made him feel as if he didn’t belong, so he was gonna go his own way.
-          When he first joined the jedi he had a really hard time drinking or just using water in general since it was so sparce on Tatooine. Nowadays he enjoys to take long showers and baths.
-          Cant eat too strong tasting foods.
-          Has a real hard time talking about his emotions. Because of this, if he falls in love hed rather go around nursing a crush than actually confess.
-          He falls in love super easily, and gets kinda blinded by it.
-          Touch starved as hell, literally melts into your hands if you cradle his face in your palms.
-          Loves kissing, could spend hours with his lips on yours or just kissing you all over.
-          Oral fixation. Goes hand in hand with him loving to kiss so much. Watch out for your fingers.
-          Has a strong gag reflex, but doesn’t let it stop him.
-          This man is verse leaning towards submissive and you can’t convince me otherwise. Those anger issues make me think he just wants someone to love him and take care of him.
-          Loves you wearing his clothes or wearing your clothes.
Darth Vader (I know he’s also Anakin but whateves)
-          Still has real bad anger issues, but in a more subdued and controlled manner if that makes sense. Still won’t yell at you.
-          Very self-conscious about his body, and is scared of touching anything he cares about because he doesn’t want to accidentally destroy it.
-          Still has horrible nightmares but these are mainly about the purging of the jedi.
-          He secretly listens to recordings from before the fall of the jedi and the republic when he is feeling extra down.
-          Mourns how he can’t kiss anymore. Tries to breathe as quietly as possible when you cuddle because he thinks the noise disturbs you.
-          Secretly still sensitive so it would help you if affirm that you love him.
-          More touch starved than ever, wants you to touch what little accessed skin he has, all the time.
-          Doesn’t talk much anymore. This scares other people as he’s just a large silent scary shadow.
-          I don’t think he has much of a sex drive after becoming Darth Vader, mainly because I think his own body is too damaged, though he would be able to use his hands.
-          Though I think he would like to sit on his knees in front of you with his head in your lap, having you caress him.
Obi wan Kenobi
-          Insomniac to the fullest. He uses the force to keep going.
-          Loves tea more than anything, has a collection of teas from different planets he’s been too in his time as a jedi.
-          Touch starved, as I think all jedi are at this point.
-          Has nightmares and lasting trauma from the many things he went through even before he became a jedi knight like melida/daan and bandomeer.
-          Quite protective of those he cares about, though he doesn’t express it much with words.
-          Doesn’t cry much, so when he does, he just needs someone to hold him as he gets it out.
-          He sneaks out of the temple to eat at Dex´s diner all the time. He brings along Anakin, Ashoka and later multiple clones.
-          Isn’t as uptight as people think. He will bend or break rules regularly, he just isn’t caught.
-          I think he both tops or bottoms, whatever the mood is that day, though I see him as the type of person to refer to it as “lovemaking”.
-          Has had multiple partners in the past, a few being Quinlan, I believe they were casual and just did it to relieve stress and etc, Santine or even Siri Tachi.
-          He is quite confident with a partner, even if he isn’t sure what he’s doing.
-          Likes making his partner feel good, holds you close and maybe even clings on quite desperately at times.
-          A big cuddler, just wants to lay for hours and half sleep with you in his arms.
-          Would keep your relationship a secret for obvious reasons, but would be willing to leave the jedi for you If you got very serious and truly loved eachother.
Cody
-          Tries to keep serious at all times, but can be quite goofy and lovey-dovey behind closed doors.
-          Very protective over his fellow clones and the jedi he is assigned.
-          Used to follow orders as closely as possible, but after joining the 212th, has started to follow in Obi wans footsteps and bend rules to fit the situation.
-          Secretly struggles a lot with being a clone and not being seen as a living sentient being by most people.
-          Has issues with his self-esteem, please tell him he’s good enough.
-          Has very little knowledge about kids, the outside world of sex ed, as I don’t believe the kamonians thought it was something clones needed to know.
-          Sterile, as I believe most clones aren’t able to have children.
-          Likes to cuddle and be held close, hold him as tight as you can against your chest. Will listen to your heartbeat and fall asleep to it.
-          Likes it when his partner caresses his scar or holds his face in their palms. Please pepper kisses all over his voice.
-          I think he’s fine with whatever in the bedroom, but it will be kinda awkward or goofy the first couple of times as he figures out how it works.
-          Likes to go slow and take his time, take you in and really show you how much he loves you.
-          Doesn’t keep your relationship a huge secret, as in his squad and some jedi know but not the council or the republic as you could be forced to split up.

hi... I HOPE THIS IS ALRIGHT TO ASK but ive admired how you render for a long time and you mentioned a while back in a post that you'd studied light particles n how they work and i have been. deathly curious as to how you went about doing that... drawing from reference and doing studies of course, but was there any particular way you went about it? i hope this finds you well. anyways . sorry ! thank you for your time
no need to apologize, and thank you so much for asking! not sure i can provide the best explanation, but most of what i learned was off of youtube and some blog-ish websites. this probably wont make any sense at all but ill try my best.
The Anatomy of Shadows
a big part of it was learning the anatomy of shadows, specifically the terminator and different varieties. heres a diagram,
terminators are just where the light and shadow meet. you always want to be able to tell where the terminator starts and ends!!! be CONFIDENT and BOLD with them!!!! they communicate so much information about structure
Tumblr media
more on the different types of terminators/shadows. the ones i most use are cast and body.
a great example of these is the rembrandt triangle, composed of the shadow cast by the nose (cast shadow) and the shadow of the cheek (body shadow). body shadows are so so aewsome because they represents changes in planes. cast shadows r just kinda there. but i think they get softer the further away from the object they are since the light particles wiggle their way underneath and create reflection/ambient light
Tumblr media
Ambient Occlusion and Light
SPEAKING OF WHICH!!! ambient light is basically just, the light particles that are bouncing around in a scene. imagine you're at the beach and its a really cloudy day, the shadows arent gonna be dramatic like they would if you were in a dark room with one light source.
Tumblr media
youd think that we're kinda like. enveloped in light by default but no, we're pretty much always in shadow. shadows are the normal part. light is a strange freak that broke into your house and fucked everything up.
more about ambient occlusion. ambient occlusion just occurs when objects get close together and light cant wiggle its way in, as stated earlier. heres a shitty example. AO is key to realism.
Tumblr media
this guy explains it better than i ever could
youtube
Lighting Focus or Whatever the Fawk its Called I Forgot But There's Definitely a Scientific/Cinematic Term For This
another thing. level of detail in shadows is gonna be way different than in light and vice versa. u know when u spend a bunch of time outside and u go inside and its just solid black for a few seconds? its a similar idea here, ur eyes are so focused on the lit area they dont even give a shit abt the shadows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
because of this, i try to keep shaded areas blurred. a lot of detail is implied, just let the viewers mind fill in the blanks.
last but not least,
Subsurface Scattering (on the skin, at least)
can i be so honest with you for a second??? i dont actually know what this means, like in depth. im sure this has something to do with light penetrating through semi-transparent skincells and illuminating blood,, but i cant be sure. thats just an educated guess. past oakley is always smarter than present oakley for some reason.
Tumblr media
i usually combine it with reflected light to create a more cohesive look. burt like... yeah... theres plenty of people who can explain this better than me
Tumblr media
ok thast all i hope this helped at least a little!!!!! LOTS of youtube videos. lots of visualizing silly little particles bouncing around. i probably forgot some stuff.
this video is realy good

SONIC PRIME RAMBLES!!!!
SPOILERS FOR SEASON TWO AHEAD!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(sorry if the screenshots are a bit mushy i was taking them quick)
firstly of course id like to mention these two. i love how when sonic is playing around and talking to himself, shadow just nods along. he didnt tell sonic to shut the fuck up, he just waited until he got his zoomies out. he even slightly participated! i just love how when shadow is cooled down a bit he’s actually pretty used to sonic and doesnt mind his silliness, it only makes him genuinely upset when it’s not the right time or place. and sure this also isnt the right time or place, but seeing as hes been blessed with literal gay magic i think shadow mightve given him a pass. that or shadow is never actually as pissed as he tries to be. which i also believe, because he plays around during fights. i think hes having fun too. hes just trying to ignore it in favor of the overall mission, which is completely fair and is kinda needed. without shadow sonic would have no fucking clue what to do hed just be running around spitting off cheesy one liners like an idiot, but without sonic shadow would be all alone with nobody but space rocks and his pissy attitude. sonic does provide shadow with fun, and everyone needs a little fun and positivity. sonic makes him happy and keeps him entertained but he’d never admit that. they balance each other out in such a nice way. they need each other in more ways than one in my opinion.
this leads me into my favorite thing about this show: sonic is not simply the hero. he’s not just saving the day and that’s that like he thinks. it’s much more complicated. lots of people he’s met seem to have clashing opinions or views of the world, and that’s not a bad thing! most of rouges variants want to just hand over the shard and get it over with, which wouldnt help in the long run but is A REASONABLE THING TO THINK!!! shadow was never malicious he was just pissed off and he’s RIGHT! hell, i dont even think nine is wrong either!!! hes never even seen the reality that sonic is wishing for! all of these people simply want to be happy but theyre from completely different worlds in a very VERY dangerous situation, of course theres going to be conflict amongst people who ARENT the villains! because the world doesn’t revolve around sonic and in situations like these its hard to find a middle ground between COUNTLESS AMOUNTS OF PEOPLE FROM ALL AROUND THE MULTIVERSE!! i think it perfectly demonstrates how all of these people arent bad people, they simply dont view things the way sonic does and thats ok. theyre all just scared and confused and in a life or death situation. well, except for dread. that motherfuckers just crazy.
i do think nine should. maybe chill 😭😭. but i think sonic shouldve at least talked with the kid a bit more about the overall goal cuz damn. i like the parallel between shadow saying “theyre not your real friends.” and nine saying hes real. because shadow was right in a sense. nine is NOT tails. he’s REAL, sure, but hes not the real TAILS. he isnt the real tails and hes not sonics friend just because sonic knows a version of him. that doesnt mean they cant BE friends but sonic being quick to assume that nine will end up like tails was just wrong on his part. sonic was quick to assume so many things about nine because of his relation to tails, and he shouldn’t have done that. he should’ve listened to shadow. it’s all “ooo shadows such a fuckin debby downer party pooping asshole” until the universe still isnt put together and THEN people consider that yeah maybe he was a little right. harsh, but right. literally if shadow was able to go into those portals i promise you this shit wouldve been over before we even got a season two. like genuinely i feel like they keep shadow in the void simply because they need to prolong the season. and i love the content dont get me wrong but please just let him go with sonic that motherfucker really does need a babysitter. i think we need BOTH of them in the actual shatterspaces. like i said, they balance each other out. if shadow was to go on his own i honestly think he wouldnt do too good either. hed just ignore everyone else and try to get things done quickly without needing help and sure he might get a little far but eventually hed need the help and he wouldnt have it. so i think sonic and shadow together should finally be allowed to do this shit fully together so that shadow can do what he has to do and sonic can go around making friends with multiverse people and saving them from robots on the side. its a win-win people!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!
i do like the fact that shadows speed is artificial so it isnt the same as sonics, or at least thats what i like to think. i know hes stuck in the void because of the chaos control he did (i think) and sonics speed might not be the only factor but i do think its interesting how they cant do the same things
but truly i think the only reason the writers are keeping them seperate is because they know damn well if they teamed up full time theyd start kissing eventually

honestly the thing that bugs me the most about the woobification of scourge is like. these people are somehow forgetting like 90% of his entire personality. namely that his greatest ambition is more or less to be the ultimate schoolyard bully who faces 0 repercussions for his actions. like he talks about becoming king of the multiverse or whatever the heck but he never really... theres no actual reason to it. he's got no real longterm goal. he's not interested in remaking the world in his own image, or enacting any sort of real agenda, or even being worshiped like a god. he just wants to be able to kick people while theyre down and face absolutely no consequences for anything he does. scourge is very much the kind of person who would go to a playground to kick children down the slides or push them off the swings or something because he's incredibly petty and immature and frankly a loser
like honestly speaking the "i want to be king of the multiverse!1!!!" crap really just reads like he took his brief knowledge of comic book villains and said "ok . sonic is a good person who wants everybody to be free. and i cant be anything like sonic. so i am going to be a bad person who controls other people" but on the most surface level humanly possible (aka in name only) because the truth is he has absolutely no real interest in becoming a ruler or a conqueror or anything of the sort. he's got nothing he actually wants to do with that outside of other people not being able to tell him he cant do whatever he wants. namely, beating the snot out of people he doesnt like. which is almost everybody to exist. something interesting to be said about him trying so hard to separate himself from being a derivative of prime!sonic that his identity still ends up looping back around to being a derivative of prime!sonic but in a different direction, but thats a discussion for another time. REGARDLESS back to my main point.
like. ok mb25yl!shadow becomes king of mobius to enact his incredibly skewed idea of the peace that maria wanted for earth, eggman wants to conquer mobius to remake it in his own image and also build a themepark, finitevus wants to burn everything to the ground because people were the real virus all along and nature is the only one that has it figured out and everybody on this rock is frankly too stupid to deserve to live, and scourge…. became "king" of moebius (read: beat up a bunch of gang leaders and called himself that) and for… what exactly. absolutely nothing. he has no grand ambitions or goals or anything he just wants to be a schoolyard bully and thats about it. hes just an incredible loser. this is also a key component in why hes so so funny. side note but if your redesign removes the inherent tackiness of his design that is no longer scourge.
tldr every day scourge the hedgehog wakes up and chooses to be an incredibly awful immature little brat/playground bully with an appallingly tacky sense of fashion and this is like 90% of his personality and if you dont like that, might i suggest... making an oc?

listen its another dazai theory im sorry but he occupies my brain and i cant get him to leave
this ones a bit of a fucking mad one today lmao however, i was re-reading the fifteen light novel and i decided to look deeper into a query i'd always harboured towards one specific part of it, and that's the relationship between dazai and the old boss, so yk, let's get into it lmao
First of all, go check out this post:
it's a really good post, and it makes so many good points! Of course, my point does differ, but that doesn't matter, the quality and content of the post is amazing! Go show some love <333
This post ^^^ is the one that low-key kind of inspired me to make this theory. Anyways, onto the actual post lol.
So, the Previous Boss. A character that we know virtually nothing about, other than the fact that he was assassinated by Mori with Dazai as a witness, he was a savage leader and later became bedridden, to which his orders became chaotic and disorganised and ruthless. This is all that we know so far. So, not really much to go on. But that's why this is a theory :)
To be honest, it's a theory that's kind of canon in a way? Eh, anyways.
One of the number one things that stands out to me that makes me go "Ah! They're connected further than just a witness!" is in Fifteen, where this is said; (SPOILERS FOR FIFTEEN LIGHT NOVEL)
A distorted, crimson haze emerged from the other side of the subspace, and a figure appeared. "There… There is a nostalgic face. Hey, brat… Are you in good health? Have you been bullied by the doctor?" It was the old boss floating in the air, wearing a traditional, black robe. "Hey there." Dazai smiled stiffly. "It's been a while. How's your back pain? Your complexion is looking nice. Wasn't it a good thing you died? Boss—no, previous boss."
?!
Like, hello? Ahh, it really gets me going fucking feral when Asagiri throws shit like this in. Love you king <3 So, this is clearly like... something, right? I don't know, maybe I am just pure rambling about nonsense this time. I probably don't make a lot of sense, I'm very much quite ill right now and I didn't get to sleep until like 8am, and even when I did I woke up like 3 hours later. I am very much running on fuck all. Anyways!
Let's go more in depth I guess.
"There… There is a nostalgic face. Hey, brat… Are you in good health? Have you been bullied by the doctor?"
"There... there is a nostalgic face." - Excuse me? Now, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that when Mori killed him, he was fucking bedridden and probably clinically insane fr. He was not right in the head or the body, and he was on his back, staring up at the ceiling. Once again, I'm no expert, but something tells me that he couldn't see Dazai across the fucking room, hiding in the fucking shadows. Fuck, we didn't even see him until the panel of him just... was there. Jumpscare fr. And again, as well as him being pretty hidden and quite a ways away, the Previous Boss was very ill, mans probably had fucking cataracts or something. My point is, there's a diminutive chance that he saw Dazai in the room. Plus, his remaining focus was on Mori, who was also basically obstructing Dazai from view. Suspicious much? Sorry sorry, lmao. Anyways yeah, it's just the "there is a nostalgic face" that gets me.
nostalgia
noun
noun: nostalgia; plural noun: nostalgias
a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past."I was overcome with acute nostalgia for my days at university"
(ofc nostalgia ain't always good like in this case lmao)
Honestly, one can only assume that Dazai and the previous boss had a connection before all this. The theory that appears to be most prominent is that Dazai is either the "rightful heir" to the Port Mafia and the previous boss' son, or that he was adopted by the previous boss. Both are very interesting theories, and I've looked into them and they have strong evidence tbh. They're pretty plausible :)
However, here's me with my bullshit theories that for some reason derail from what everyone else thinks.
I honestly don't think that he was the previous boss' son, however he very much could be, but I do think he had affiliations with him, whether that be his actual parents were affiliated with the Mafia, someone he knew, other distant family members, etc. However he was involved with the mafia, he was. (I'm not saying he was, I'm saying that any way you can think of would probably work lmao)
My point is that I think that Dazai has already grown up surrounded by this environment of violence and bloodshed and exploitation of others to get what you want. When Mori first meets him, he's already a cunning, enigmatic and manipulative child. Where on fucking earth could he have learned that, if not from the people he grew up with, whoever that may be?
Dazai's past will always be one of my top things to think about, because once we get his past, so fucking much might be revealed and explained, and honestly, I need to know fr. (I'm so sorry but 'Killing in the Name of' just came on and I must say, very fitting-) But yeah, sorry, getting off-track. My theory is that his past somehow links into the old boss somehow. Whether they knew each other for ten years or just one before Mori first met Dazai, I think that they definitely did know each other.
Also, another thing of importance to note is the fact that Dazai is still in a suit when he tries to kill himself and gets sent to Mori. Also, I don't know whether the bandages were because of the suicide attempt, or whether or not they're there from before he even attempted it. Personally, methinks it's the latter, but hey, that's not what we're talking about here. Another thing to mention is the fact that Dazai gets sent to Mori, a shady, underground doctor who's clinic is a neutral zone for any fighting and little wars going on between underground rings and gangs, and because at this point the previous boss was going on his rampage, it was sure to be a neutral ground from the mafia. Now, why was Dazai sent here? I've always theorised on this, but my newest one only just blossomed today lmao. One theory I had is that he was found somewhere by a gang member who took him to Mori because he was just like "Oh, a kid, take him to Mori or something." this one I guess is kind of plausible? More plausible than some others lmao. Another one that I had was that whether it was his family or not, the people he was with did not want any suspicion arising around them should they go to a normal hospital with Dazai or they just know Mori's a shady doctor that'll sort him out quick I guess. Another mad theory I had was that Dazai was raised in an orphanage and they didn't want anyone questioning why a child under their care ended up trying to kill themselves on the grounds of the orphanage, so they took him to Mori. (I have more theories on orphanage Dazai, it's one of the least plausible ones but it actually made a lot of sense when I looked deeper into it)
EITHER WAY, sorry, it's clearly suspicious and seedy that you'd send a 14 year old to an underground doctor who is known for being shady and underhanded. Just saying.
God, this got a bit out of hand. Anyways, the newest theory I had for this was that Dazai was under the "care" of the previous boss and had tried to kill himself, Mori got wind of this and took Dazai as his patient, knowing his relation with the previous boss and saw his opportunity to assassinate him, using the fact that Dazai is an acquanitance of the previous boss to his advantage, and the fact that he's his doctor (the previous boss'). Does this make sense or am I actually mentally unwell and just chatting shit?
Well, whatever lmao. Going more in depth into the little extract from Fifteen; "Are you in good health? Have you been bullied by the doctor?" Now, whatever the fuck this means I guess? I'm going to do a separate post about the second half of what he said, because what the fuck. Lmao, but for now, I'm mainly going to focus on the "Are you in good health?" I feel as if this is him not only mocking Dazai, but himself. Asking Dazai if he's in good health, because he's not because he was assassinated by Mori whilst Dazai watched, and he was bedridden towards the end of his life. And, he's mocking Dazai because just a couple days (weeks, months, idk the timeframe lmao) before he died, Dazai obviously was hospitalised because of his suicide attempt, plus the fact that Dazai is just... unhealthy anyways. He's underweight, covered in bandages, mentally unwell and just doesn't take care of himself and throws himself into dangerous situations and has very self-destructive tendencies, PLUS the fact that (not at 14-17 I'd hope lmao) he also drinks, like, that mf is not in a good state. So, I feel as if it's just taking a jab at that, as well as him holding resentment for being murdered when he was ill. Does that also make sense? Maybe not. Sleep-deprived bullshit, my bad. But, as much as it's him poking fun at the situation and the people involved (also it could be bc yk Mori's a doctor, haha funny joke, yk? lmao) I think it's also quite familiar? Like, you know, you see someone that you know, and ask if they're okay, if they're in good shape, especially if since when you last saw them they're very much not. It honestly should come across as a caring remark, but obviously it's not in this situation.
Lmao anyways, another snippet from Fifteen because holy shit;
The true form of the silver flash that cut Dazai was a long scythe as tall as a human being. The old man holding the handle of the scythe gave a muffled laugh. "Cruel… Truly heartless. The day has come where the kid will be beheaded by this hand." The old boss said with a hoarse voice. "But before that, I'd like to talk about my memories… You're an enemy to me even in this body." "Boss. You're no longer a human…" Randou told him gravely. "I used a formula to recreate your memories and personality from when you were alive to insert into my ability… You are simply my ability. And your mission is… to take Chuuya-kun's corpse while stopping Dazai-kun. With that scythe." "Ok, I understand. This soul is a piece of torn paper clinging to your ability. This body is an automatic doll with no interior or self consciousness… But, it's an incredible feeling." The old boss raised the scythe. A black cloth emerged from thin air and wrapped around him… like an old, western grim reaper.
This one got me rabid fr.
Let's go from the start.
The old man holding the handle of the scythe gave a muffled laugh. "Cruel... Truly heartless. The day has come where the kid will be beheaded by this hand."
Right. Right right right. Not only does he laugh after he slices the bitch, what I find interesting is the "Cruel... Truly heartless." Now, he could be referring to a plethora of things, so I'll go ahead and mention a few of them.
One of them could be him calling Dazai cruel and heartless, which is honestly how a lot of people see him and what he does sometimes come across as. He's calling him this because he stood by and watched him get murdered by his doctor, the one who was supposed to be taking care of him. (Again, this is all assuming that he knew Dazai was there, which apparently he did, but how?)
Another thing could be that he's saying it's cruel and heartless that he's having to murder a child. Maybe. But, as we know, he's a ruthless and uncaring man who would not hesitate to fucking deck a kid, so like.
Another thing could be just him being sarcastic about his next sentence, once again mocking and kind of belittling Dazai and making fun of him, because he's in an unfortunate predicament, much like he was.
Now, with a few of those out of the way, moving onto the next sentence which fucks me up.
"The day has come where the kid will be beheaded by this hand."
Now you old on just a fucking minute.
One thing I'd like to say is that typically, a beheading is used as a form of execution. (Also parallells Dazai's betrayal of the Mafia later. Could be me absolutely clutching at straws frantically but I like to make connections and stick to them lol.) And, of course, an execution is a form of punishment for someone betraying or going against any form of law or hierarchy. It's strange to me that he'd use this phrasing. Maybe he's saying this because he feels that Dazai should be punished for not stopping his assassination, and he is to execute him for betraying the Mafia by standing by and watching him die. But Dazai wasn't with the Mafia at this point. Once again returning to my point of their connection and that they knew each other, it could be his way of holding some bitter resentment towards Dazai for betraying him personally, and it's not just revenge he's hoping to get on him. The next bit that also gets me is the "The day has come" as if he's been waiting for this specific day for a while, since before he was assassinated. Gah, it's all so confusing. Also also, the repeated use of the previous boss using words like "kid" and "brat" are also interesting to me. He's really the only one to refer to Dazai that way, bar Chuuya and that one GSS soldier, who was like "The Port Mafia are recruiting kids now?" and of course, Chuuya and Dazai calling each other "brat" "punk" and "kid". It just feels... off, the way the previous boss keeps calling him this. I don't know if he refers to Dazai by his name at all, which could also be a reason as to why maybe they don't know each other at all, because it's of course a plausible line of thinking, as we haven't been given anything that says otherwise. I don't know, it just irks me.
The old boss said with a hoarse voice. "But before that, I'd like to talk about my memories… You're an enemy to me even in this body."
Also forgot to mention the "hoarse voice" when he's saying that to Dazai. That's a big hmmmmm moment fr. Anyways. This part really is so intriguing to me. "But before that, I'd like to talk about my memories... You're an enemy to me even in this body."
Hm? What was that? This part's really fucking suspicious to me. "I'd like to talk about my memories..." So, clearly, there's something in his memories (PLURAL) that he'd like to discuss with specifically Dazai, something so important that the one thing he's been waiting and itching to do must be put aside for the time being. It's the middle of the battle between the previous boss and Randou and Dazai and Chuuya, like, can it not wait?
Irks me, and the fact that (like I said) it's plural. He doesn't say "there's a memory I'd like to talk about." it's just "Let's talk about my memories" almost as if it's fucking all of them.
Then, the use of the elipsis with the jarring "...You're an enemy to me even in this body." is unsettling. He declares Dazai, a 15 year old, as his enemy. Not only has he made fun of him, slashed him up, threatened to behead him and possibly called him cruel and heartless, but he's now stating that he is his enemy, whether he is a corpse or whether he is alive and well, alive and sick, etc...
It's all around a little bit suspicious, if I do say so myself. The next part, where Randou interrupts and stops him in his tracks, is also highly important.
"Boss.
(Laughing at the "Randou told him gravely" because he's fucking dead lmao, L)
THIS. THIS. THIS.
"Boss. You're no longer a human..."
SOUND FAMILIAR, YEAH YEAH?
The fact that this specific line was used is just... there's got to be more to it. Why would Asagiri choose to specifically use that? And don't forget when Kunikida also said the same exact thing to Dazai in 55 minutes. (SPOILERS FOR 55 MINUTES)
"The hell are you talking about?! 'Finally managed to die'? You're no longer human! You don't deserve that right! If you really want to die that much, I'll kill you myself! How about this?! And this?! How about from this angle?!"
It just strikes me as odd, the comparisons. Obviously, Dazai's ability being 'No Longer Human', the phrasing Randou used is strange. I don't know. Anyways lol.
"I used a formula to recreate your memories and personality from when you were alive to insert into my ability… You are simply my ability. And your mission is… to take Chuuya-kun's corpse while stopping Dazai-kun. With that scythe."
"I used a formula to recreate your memories and personality from when you were alive to insert into my ability..." So, as we see here, he is just the same as if he were alive and well. He's not just saying all this shit randomly, he has sound reason behind it and he remembers. He has his memories, emotions, etc. (I also want to know when and how he took the body into his sub-space, that's interesting). I don't know why Randou stops after saying "...while stopping Dazai-kun. With that scythe." I don't know, maybe he's just clarifying lol. Hm.
"Ok, I understand. This soul is a piece of torn paper clinging to your ability. This body is an automatic doll with no interior or self consciousness… But, it's an incredible feeling." The old boss raised the scythe. A black cloth emerged from thin air and wrapped around him… like an old, western grim reaper.
And just like that, he's over it. Lmao.
I like the comparison of the old boss the the Grim Reaper, I think that's really important. Especially considering he got his own throat slit by his evil doctor, but.
I think what's so interesting to me about it is that, as we know, Dazai constantly seeks and craves death. He chases after it non-stop, longing for a life that's not his own, and wishing for that one fateful encounter where maybe, he'll finally be able to die the way he wishes. Whilst other people run from death and are scared shitless by the concept of it as they run from the Grim Reaper, harbinger of their fear itself, Dazai actively seeks it. He runs after the Grim Reaper, praying that this time, maybe, he'll die. But as we know, he hasn't yet succeeded (technically he's succeeded twice lmao.) and he still chases relentlessy after him. So, I feel as if the comparison of the previous boss to "an old, western Grim Reaper" is important to note. Once again, I could just be babbling wham. Also, the way he's about to "kill" Dazai is fairly important. The second he raises his scythe, he becomes clothes and adorned in black cloth, like an executioner swinging his axe. A lot is being alluded to in these passages (passages?) that are repetitive themes throughout.
So, this probably made no sense, but honeslty, I just needed to get my jumbled thoughts out there.
In conclusion, I do believe that Dazai and the previous boss have some sort of connection, and I hope it's brought up again, and it wasn't just a one off or a misinterpretation of the scene. It seems really intriguing to me!
A lot of theories that I have seen include Dazai being "heir" to the Port Mafia and whilst that could be a plausible way of thinking, I just don't think so, but who am I to say?
Yes, he was in the room with the boss when Mori killed him; who's to say Mori didn't just bring him with him and say "He's under my care." or something? Maybe it wouldn't be that easy if the room was heavily guarded, especially because it's the Port Mafia's boss and many people are wanting to assassinate him, but they'd never suspect that his doctor would be up to something shady, and so what if he takes a kid in there with him? What's a 14 year old going to do?
Also, if the chances are that Dazai was "adopted" in a way by the previous boss, of course they'd let him go in with Mori, if they knew who he was.
And also, people saying about how why Mori would kick Dazai out of the Mafia at 18 is also due to the fact that he is indeed the rightful "heir" and he knows it, or something. But honestly, I don't know if that has much to do with it. I don't actually think that Mori expected Dazai to leave the Mafia; I don't think he understood the true impact Oda had on Dazai, because Mori doesn't know who Dazai is really. Dazai is cold, and doesn't show much emotion. However, it was a completely different story with Oda and Ango, and I think Mori didn't truly understand the extent that the fondness between them all went to. I think he wanted to keep Dazai under his thumb, reign him in, make him more obedient. If he could take some rogue compnents out of Dazai's life, it'd give him more reason to be more of a... mindless slave? To the Mafia? There's better phrasing, but do you get what I mean? With Oda's sacrifice, Mori killed about 6 birds with one stone. He got rid of Mimic, he got the permit he needed, he (if we exclude my theory of him trying to make Dazai more controlled) got rid of Dazai who was a threat to his position, he got the upper hand on the Division, etc etc. He really hit the nail on the head with that one move. But, in other aspects, it was indeed the wrong move. He lost a lot because of it. He lost the trust of Dazai as well as Dazai himself, he lost one of the most skilled ability users and a phenomenal assassin, also lost quite a few men along the way, (he already knew this but) he lost Ango, a skilled and resourceful information store (lol), etc. Confusing situation lol.
Anyways, sorry, went on a rant, but my point was that kicking Dazai out of the mafia for being the rightful "heir" wouldn't have done much. Dazai could still assassinate him if he wanted to be the boss. Which is why I think he has some underlying motive for doing what he did. Also, the fact that he seems genuinely dejected and angry when the Guild is fighting with them and he mentions that if Dazai were still here, the Guild would have been no match.
Also, a good point that the post I mentioned made was when Hirotsu mentioned specifically Dazai when talking about understanding Mori's motives, which I think was very interesting.
Tumblr media
Now, this could probably be about anything, but it does seem like it's directed towards Mori assassinating the previous boss. It could also mean about sending Chuuya over to his location, kicking him out of the mafia (this is the one I low-key kind of think that he meant), etc. It could be a lot, but seemingly it's either only getting Dazai forced out of the Mafia or the previous boss' death. Interesting points all around and their analysis and theory is so so so good!!!
Anyways, this was a bit longer than I expected it to be, I hope it makes sense! Any questions, please please PLEASE feel free to ask! Because I have a lot more to say about this, but I can't write it unless prompted lmao.
Thank you for reading this far, my love <333
Have a lovely day/night! <333

Corpse Party is a lot of things. (Apologies for the ramble in advance)
A game (the best is Blood Covered, no argument can win there. Book of Shadows is decent and Blood Drive everyone despises it. We dont talk about 2U. We also have Rebuilt which is a remake of the og since we cannot experience the og due to how old it is. I cant wait for the new game thats coming tho)
A manga (which some has the purpose of source material for both 2U and Blood Drive, but some manga adaptations are, uh... not good. Do not look up Musume. Just- for your sanity, do not.)
An anime (most people's introductions to Corpse Party and the only way to consume it without getting too much into the franchise. It doesnt touch too much of the game's long lore.)
Two live actions (Cant say much because I havent watched it, but heard its not good as it takes the anime as source instead of the game and has less time. For context, the anime takes a 10 hour game and makes it into a 2 hour ova while the first live action uses an hour and a half. Dont know much about the second one.)
Also, for more context, there's more than one ghost children (main villain called Sachiko) trying to kill you. If you look at them in the eye in the games, you get wrong ends, which are like the equivalents of game over. Unless they're calmed down/appeased by bringing something they lost (spoilers, their tongues), you can interact with them normally.
But while enraged, they uh... kinda... dragged one of the protags at really fast speed. And she uh. Crashed into a wall. And became a mushy pile of a lot of organs. You actually see the pile in the first chapter, but dont know who it was until the second chapter. That's how violent they are. So yeah, uh. Do not recommend Belphie using corpses to sleep.
alsdflkasdfkj OH WOW.
Here I thought we were dealing with malevolent ghosts and not-living corpses lol. I was kinda imagining the corpses like the ones in Bloodborne where they're all like ragdoll mechanics or whatever and just sorta flop around. I just think Belphie would be like ah something soft okay good night.
But yeah if we're dealing with sentient corpses that can slam you into walls so hard you become mush, then someone had better keep Belphie away!
Oh man, I had no idea there was so much content! I can't decide if I'm fascinated by how unhinged it sounds or kind of wary... maybe a bit of both?
I usually like horror/ghost type stuff when it comes to video games and anime, but not so much live action situations. It's like it's too real or something and then I get all freaked out about it. Me and scary movies are generally not a good combo. I cannot begin to tell you how bad The Sixth Sense messed me up lol.
I might have to check out the anime, though. It certainly sounds interesting! And then I can check it out without committing myself to the games of which there seems to be multiple.
Thank you for the thorough explanation! My curiosity is piqued!

a little nervous here bc while there are sus clues in the show that could be telling us abt willel being biological twins, there's also some stuff that could hint at mike and el being related too..☠️with all the strange creel x wheeler similarities and theories abt henry possibly being el's biological father.☠️ the latter is less luckily imo and personally i don't like the theory of willel being biological siblings very much either but i cant deny there's something really sus going on
Henry is definitely NOT El’s biological father, nor Will's. So you don't have to worry about that being a possibility. And so even if the Wheelers ended up being related to the Creels somehow, El nor Will are related to Henry by blood.
Joyce is 100% Will’s mom, and so because of all the twin imagery being associated with Will and El, I’m fairly confident that means Joyce has gotta be El’s mom too.
My theory relies on time trickery/false memories/memory stealing in general, which is why Joyce and Hopper don't know Will/El are their biological twins.
But also just to be clear, in 1959, Henry was 12 and Joyce and Hopper were 17… So yeah, he’s not El nor Will's dad.
I also think the play The First Shadow being added to canon as a prequel of sorts, supports this theory. The fact that it's set in 1959, and is going to focus on young Joyce and Hopper, dealing with 'the shadows of the past'...
It's likely that once Henry 'figured out' that he could turn back the clock (important to note that the clock in the Creel house little Henry watched turn back, was on the same time as the clock in Hawkins Lab...), then it would make A LOT of sense for him to go back to 1959, a time when Joyce and Hopper were together, to ensure they still had Jon/Will/El, but to change the events surrounding it so that they would essentially have no idea.
It's very much giving Back to the Future Part II, where Biff goes back to the past and messes up the trajectory of the future timeline, leading to George McFly dying, essentially leaving the kids with an absolute shit stain of a father whose not actually their father, aka Lonnie...
I'm still not certain about how it would all work and that's bc the implications of time trickery complicate things, making it near impossible to navigate. Not only are we dealing with turning back the clock, we're also potentially dealing with time-loops, where time could be getting turned back over and over and over again, without the character's knowledge that they've done this before.
And so if this is their 5th, 6th, 7th, or thousandth time going through this, they apparently aren't aware of it (at least not fully), which means their understanding of their past/present is pretty shaky as it is.
Though tbh I think where I get most confused about how all of this works is when it comes to the Hawkins Lab's stake in what's going on? Do they know about Henry's plans? Do they know there is time trickery going on? Are they playing a big part in orchestrating certain things?
Technically, in s4, Brenner and Owens admitted that they're keeping part of the truth from El. They literally showed her the 'true' events of the lab massacre in 4x07, only to reveal that wasn't even the full truth privately without her around? And so clearly, they know about something that is being hidden from us that we still haven't been clued in on, meaning it's being saved for s5. And so, what is it?
For now I'm not certain about everything, but there's a lot of evidence supporting this as a series long revelation.
And the fact that David Harbour has been saying for years that there are Easter Eggs in s1 that are going to lead to a really beautiful ending, makes it sort of click for me that he was probably talking about this...

cute lil pafl analysis//it's not good :(
This is only about the lyrics and doesn't really involve the story, the point is to show how Ferry uses there lyrics to tell the story if that makes sense
im planning on doing an analysis on the mv soon but that's after i do lyrical analysis for the rest of the series lol
This song is written in the perspective of Yuri Belsky
'I never wanted to fade away
Yet here I am
Oh, just another troubled youth on the diagram
"Do you like me?"
"Why don't we just get out of here?"
And for another night I lose myself and disappear'
The introduction for the song begins with Yuri explaining that he never wanted to fade away and become ‘another youth on the diagram’. This shows Yuri’s acknowledgement that he has lost his ways and is now to be associated with the clique of a delinquent. The new 2 lines seems to be short conversation with other person in which he agrees to  spend the night with, following this up is the line ‘And for another night I lose myself and disappear’, this is Yuri stating that this is a behavior he commonly participants in as a way of emotionally dissociating from himself
I say it’s awful
The smoky grey, crumbling view
Just makes me want to break away
Run away
Verse 1 is Yuri’s description of the city’s condition, ‘The smoky grey, crumbling view’ is a observation of the cities old and destroyed urban area. Yuri starts and ends with how much he dislikes living in this sort of area, it is not a wrong assumption that Yuri wants to leave this place as the last line states that he wants to run away.
‘But you say it's normal
And so we keep tumbling through
And everyday I'm hammered by this dire déjà vu’
This is Yuri stating that hes told by the people around his that either how he’s feeling or the cities conditions are normal and possibly not that bad. Despite this Yuri is tired of being stuck in the same crumbling city everyday, he cant help the feeling of reliving the same day over and over again and he despises it.
‘On a night like any other
My mind started to wander
Then I froze
Out from the flickering shadows
She arose’
The build up sets us a scene, it’s a night in which Yuri is doing his usual.. Using the short conversation from earlier we can assume that hes at some sort of party or social event. Yuri seems to be in thought or even the opposite before he spots someone within the shadows.
‘The loser looks in the eyes of the monster
The room is caving in
It’s okay, it's okay, I say’
And just like that it turns into a girl, hey
A friendly baseball bat comes to save the day
Yuri regards himself as a loser looking in the eyes of something that seems to be a sort of monster, this panics him to the point of feeling as if the room was caving in on itself. He tries his best to calm himself because he comes to discover that the monster in the shadows ends up just being a girl. The next line states that someone possibly familiar with Yuri (as he regards them as friendly) comes in with a baseball bat to help the girl, this poses the question of whether the girl was caught or started a sort of confrontation.
Eternal rest never seemed to be closer
Than in that passing moment
But quickly my fear was gone
At first the 1st line seems to say that Yuri was a person involved in the current confrontation and that he was in fact losing and possibly on the brink of death. Although this theory is incorrect as in the next line it uses the word ‘that’ which is in past tense. These two lines actually state that the current confrontation that is unveiling in front of him has caused him to be reminded of a past fight he was involved in..only for Yuri to snap back and realize that that was not the current situation.
A lapse of reason, I figure, can be pretty fun
And so the party goes on and on
This first line is Yuri coming to the realization that caring so much about his surroundings and feeling suffocated is not what he wants. That letting go and doing what is truly fun is what he truly wants, so he decides to keep going and do what makes him happy. This realization could be It can be assumed that this realization is caused by Yuri possibly getting involved with the ongoing fight himself, as ‘a lapse of reason’ could also be read as his way of thinking whilst being involved in the brawl. It is also assumed that he helps out his ‘familiar baseball bat’ in which implies he assists either the monster or the opposing side, neither is confirmed in the chorus itself
I always wanted
To feel like I hold my own reigns
My future's on the rails of freight trains
Not daisy chains
In Verse 2, Yuri states how he always wanted to be in control of his life/future, yet he feels as if the it has already been set in place. He explains that the future that has already been set in place equivalent to being on the rails of a freight train. Not only could this be a comparison to environment he lives in as freight trains tend to be worn, mechanical and rather cold, whilst daisy chains are quite the opposite as unlike the cold steel trains,  daisy’s are living and childish..they are also often associated with purity due to the childish nature of daisy chains.
She is laughing
"That's such an uncool thing to say!"
I miss the trash can as I throw my cigarette away
Using this statement, we now know that the previous verse is in fact Yuri explaining his emotional view on his future to a person. As the only other person to be referred to using female pronouns is the so called ‘monster’ we can assume this is who he is talking to, meaning the two became close friends after the awe deal from the beginning. She says that what Yuri said is ‘uncool’ which personally I see as her being rather dismissive towards Yuri’s emotional state/mood. Yuri then explains that he misses the trash can as he tries to get rid of his cigarette, we now know of another unhealthy behavior Yuri participates in. Yuri missing the trash can shows how he himself is slightly put off by the girl’s remark as he isn’t quite concentrating on his actions and rather is possibly in  thought due to her remark.
I don't know what else I can tell you
"You know, opening up is not that bad"
I think this music will surely
Drive me mad
The first line confirms that Yuri was confused/not expecting her response, as he doesn’t quite know what more to say. In response, the girl explains that opening up isn’t a bad thing, this seems to cause Yuri to panic once again, much like how she did during their first interaction. This also possibly sets a scene of the current moment, its highly possible that they are both at some sort of gathering/party once again as that is a typical place for music to be playing casually. As well as the fact Yuri seems to resent how he usually attends these sorts of things as a way of coping.
The loser looks in the eyes of the monster
At last he doesn't need to pretend or to force a smile
"Oh, I don't know if I'm lying, or living a lie"
The monster’s humming a lullaby
In the 1st line of the 2nd chorus, the author reuses the say line from the first, this confirming that he is in fact discussing with the girl/monster from the beginning. This part also seems to be written in a 3rd person perspective. The next line shows that Yuri is now comfortable with the girl possibly due to how she’s willing to listen to him opening up and that because of this he doesn’t feel like he needs to be someone he’s not. Yuri then explains to the girl that he is unsure either he’s lying to himself about how he truly feels or whether he’s living a life in which isn’t his. The next line says that the monster then hums a lullaby, typically…parents will sing lullabies to their infant as a way to relax/calm them down. The author uses this as a way to explain that the girl not only is their to help calm down Yuri but also emotionally support him.
"Oh, what’s the use of escaping the future
When you can mould it into whatever you please?" She sings
And I don't know if it’s something she really believes
My sadness seeps through my clenched teeth
going off of the line discussing lullabies, the next line shows exactly how she tries to comfort Yuri. The girl does this by explaining that there is no reason to run away from his problems as life when there is always the possibility of changing the path, he goes on himself rather than following it. Despite her reassurance in what the girl believes, Yuri seems reluctant in agreeing with her way of thinking. This makes him upset, it’s most likely he came to realize the fact he’s so desperate to change his path that her saying that made him come to the realization that its long gone.
The loser looks in the eyes of the girl and
The room is caving in
It's okay, it's okay, I say
Yuri finally acknowledges that the person he’s been talking to is in fact human finally and regards her as so. Despite this, he’s again panics because of her, he then tries his best to calm himself down.
And just like that, she turns into a monster
There's nobody to show up and save the day
Despite being recognized finally as being just a girl by Yuri, the first line of the verse states that she turns into a monster. This could mean one of 2 things, either the girl isn’t whom she presented herself to be and is actually a bad person…which would somewhat make sense as being regarded as a most now means to be a bad person. The alternative is that the girl physically does turn into some sort of monster. The next line is quite similar to the one from the build-up, but instead of a friendly baseball to help, there is no one. Due to the restructure of this line, we can assume that much like the situation with the last time a similar line was used, Yuri and the girl may be in some sort of altercation in which they need the help of another.
Eternal rest never seemed to be closer
Than in that passing moment
But quickly my fear was gone
Once again Yuri seems to find himself in a situation where he’s fearful of his life. Only for his fear to quickly disappear, this means tat the threat that was at hand is now also gone…causing him to calm down.
And even though all this mindless self indulgence was fun
The party ends at the break of dawn
With the resolution of the situation Yuri admits that though he had fun doing what he enjoyed, he now has to go back to how life once was as the ‘party’ is now over.

Could you tell us more about your bad vives AU? I love your art btw <3
okay id like to preface with a lot of it is VIBES which means if smth doesnt make sense i need everyone to suspend the FUCK out of their disbelief dont question me we are here for a GOOD TIME and a GOOD TIME ONLY. here are some bullet points largely summing up things ive already drawn!!!! pls note my fav kind of Time Stuff is bullshit miserable groundhog day style time loops
-chat blanc gets the bunny miraculous we dont ask questions about this
-he SLINKS ARND IN THE SHADOWS of paris for a while and it builds up marinettes paranoia bc shes TOTALLY 100% SEEN CHAT NOIR and knows that absolutely he isnt akumatized so she gaslights herself into thinking she hasnt caught random glimpses of chat blanc BUT ALSO spirals into a state of FULL BLOWN constant fight or flight response and wont sleep so that shes not vulnerable
-blah blah chat blanc drops in on her while adrien is arnd entirely bc i really wanted to draw that thing of adrien doing the Mom Arm when the car stops too fast bc this whole sitch is just a violent messy WRECK. anyway chat blancs whole attitude is like hewwo my love <:3c im here to give us a super romantic ending <:3c and marinettes response to everything is just like. okay cool, i am going to puke now!! meanwhile adriens just like what the FUCK is happening here
-anyway. more cat n mouse games. ANYWAY. at some point its lb vs cb but chat blanc is just having a great week and WINNING so gets her earrings or smth who cares and successfully romeo and juliets himself n marinette yandere style. a VERY ROMANTIC ENDING bc nothing was ever gonna fix things OBVI so ofc they have to just die in each others arms 💖
-YES adrien experiences massive manpain NO i dont care anyones opinion on it bc i love to see the kids cry. OBVI he is catastropically devastated and NO there is no identity reveal hes just deeply and viciously torn tf UP over marinette getting dead and also feeling completely helpless AND ALSO ALSO like hes the one to blame <:3
-everyone is so catatonic in the wake of No More Marinette that even adrien doesnt notice ladybug hasnt been arnd since
-idk. timeloop shit. adriens stuck in a cycle of the night before (V HARD TO GET A HEAD START IN SUCH A SHORT TIMEFRAME!!) day of, n day after (so no matter what he always has to reexperience the aftermath hehe). i am actually not a huge fan of when longer timespan loops get past mid teens (ESP when it gets to TRIPLE DIGITS???!) bc it feels like it cheapens the experience and also acute stress is sexier than chronic SO ANYWAY. eventually he will obviously succeed in brking the loop and keeping marinette frm dying. good for him.
-every loop is a little different bc every loop marinette CANT PUT HER FINGER ON IT but she knows something is Not Right, which chat blanc is ALSO feelin, so every time they react or do smth diff which means adrien is constantly having to deal w CHANGING VARIABLES !! hes having a bad time. marinette is having a bad time. chat blanc is having a very good time
-final actual confrontation or whatever is pure marichat (DOUBLETEAM. MARI IS AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT EVEN AS A CIVILIAN. YOU GO BABY!!). ive only drawn adrinette moment but the whole thing is very marichat bc im PREDICTABLE!! anyway no lb bc marinette freaks out cb is gonna take her earrings or cataclysm them so she just straight up swallows em. good job baby.
-THE END BABY!! epilogue reveal EVENTUALLY but for quite some time after they are both quietly carrying the weight of their secret traumas alone w neither of them having a full picture of the situation but not knowing it. what a good time :)
i think this looks v adrien focused but they are all having their separate little stories here and its largely marinette feeling isolated and small for all her mistakes, and chat blanc feels like the worst possible one she has or could ever make so she cant consider asking anyone, let alone CHAT NOIR HIMSELF!! to help her, which just makes everything 100000x harder. by the end of the STORY PROPER she accepts she can trust herself in chat noirs hands but shes still too scared to put her full weight on him bc she doesnt wanna FUCK UP. meanwhile adrien wont say shit to her abt it bc he doesnt wanna burden her w his SECRETS also hes drownin in guilt. also eventual identity reveal changes nothing for him in terms of grief bc he already felt like he died every time marinette did except worse bc he had to just keep living anyway :) but now also hes afraid of an identity reveal for probably obvious reasons. and then beloved CHAT BLANC man of the HOUR switched gears frm wanting to Fix things to wanting to destroy things bc hes a fucking yandere wifeguy OKAY. he knows he is forever RUINED for love of marinette and since he cant have her future is instead entirely focused on making sure he has all of her end <:3c
dw the kids are gonna be OKAY. they are insane and the power of LOVE will help pull them thru, theyre just going to be incredibly clingy for the rest of their LIVES
i love to draw very cutesy w soft and warm palettes and then have the Content be batshit miserable badtimes. i also like to draw a lot of goofy moments btwn and during the Traumas bc i love to be a dumbass
THIS ENDED UP SO LONG SORRY EVERYONE!!! please enjoy my unhinged misery porn 😊💖

Yea rewatching these guys they know each other, after Meau has her flashback of dreaming of mewtwo where I assume she's telling them like I'm having dreams and in it I'm seeing a dark room with an orange tube with something inside Noe turns to her and like the expression on their face feels so very "and what are you going to do about it?" as if asking like this is what you're going through what are you going to do about it, and then they fly off together with them twirling around each other and I did notice Noe flies very close to Meau which makes me curious again they know each other they feel familial especially with them moving up to hug hold Meau to comfort her as she I imagine gets a psychic projection of Mewtwo waking up which scared her because oh god, something is out there and it's powerful and it's what the humans have done and it involves my baby so whatever they are they're from my child. So just hm horrors of the genetic tampering and they've made something powerful and they cant control it and that's my grandchild in some way (possible fear of what will happen if Meau has to face off with them because technically her kin but because of the genetic tampering there's that level of two being unrecognisable but she'd be lying if she thought there was no relation that she could deal with them without feeling)
Noe and Meau just hm, I am hm. They /know/ each other lmao I know I keep saying it but words are hard. Part of me is like does the closeness mean something other than friendship and familial but like her and Noe are probably related unless Arceus had maybe intended for them to be two without any relation to help foster the new world he was making kind of like the king and queen of the pride... Hm now I'm thinking did Noe originally exist alongside Meau and was once whole but gave too much of their dna to other Pokemon during the creation of a thriving world, because we saw how shaky and tired Meau was in her depictions before she made her child could be very easy to push oneself too far I mean even Meau had to go nap afterwards, and ended up weakening themselves to a state of instability where they joined with Meau who preserved their remaining dna within themselves to keep them alive, if half alive through her and giving them the power to come alive through shadows but only briefly as their original form unfortunately no longer exists... Sorry got off on a tangent but like! They know each other they are close but we'll find out how!
Also Meau witnessing Mewtwo escape their anger and violence as they burn down the lab, again it's shaking her to the core, she must know she's seeing these projections because they're both strong with their psychic powers but also related bond like how Meau sensed when mew was in danger, could she bring herself to stop them if she had to? Especially when they too have been hurt by humans or will their rage prove to be something she needs to put a stop to even as it tears her apart.
And if they're actually grown cloned from an organ from her child and not just from their ovary eggs ect then wouldn't that make them in a sense a clone and twin to her child? Could she kill the man made sibling? When they are still genetically hers?
I'm falling into the deep end here I'm experiencing and feeling a lot of emotions here Meaus probably going through a lot and Noe making brain go BRR
Enjoy my insane ramblings
I’ve already stated before how much I loved this, but I LOVED this. They’ve basically nailed the entire animatic intentions, give or take a few things ;3c
Thus I think it’ll be a GREAT refresher… Ehe

Skydive
Because what the hell why not.
----------
It's a brilliantly clear, bitingly cold afternoon over the Atlantic Ocean, and you're a prisoner aboard the Decepticon warship.
It's not... terrible, you reason. You still don't know why - wrong place, wrong time, probably. At least they don't keep you locked up in a box or anything like that. If anything, they barely even seem to notice your presence at all. Probably because there really isn't a whole lot you can get into to cause trouble.
That lanky Slenderman-looking fucker watches you, though - his unnervingly silent gaze makes the back of your neck prickle even when you can't see him.
And sometimes the Vehicons bring you things. You never ask where or how they get the snacks or the odd camping supplies (or the oversized purple puffy coat currently wrapped around your shoulders) and they never volunteer the information. They mostly just seem happy when you thank them for their "deliveries."
But mostly you're ignored and left to your own devices.
That's how you first crossed paths with him.
It was an accident, honestly. You'd just been shadowing someone's heels - was it R1d3r, or was it St3v3? You couldn't quite tell in the half-dark when they weren't chatting - and had followed them out onto the landing deck.
The huge fucking robot dragon lounging out there had distracted you long enough for your unwitting tour guide to accidentally lock your outside with it.
...It didn't turn out too badly, at least. The big guy was more curious than anything, and you (eventually) got back inside with little more wounded than your pride.
(Turns out, "cat playing with mouse" is only funny when you're not the mouse.)
So why had you gone back?
Boredom, perhaps. Or curiosity. Or maybe you were just lonely. Or a combination of all three. Each answer made about as much sense as any other, which was "none" when the object of your curiosity was, again, an airliner-sized robot dragon.
The fact that he didn't seem too keen on actually hurting you played into it, probably. Even if he didn't talk, you could tell that he was very aware of how fragile you are. Which was, well... it was a bit more consideration than most anyone else gave you.
So you went back again, and again, and again, until even the usual door guards stopped trying to catch you and shoo you away. And you would sit with him, or talk - about what was going on around the ship, or about things and people you missed, or just nothing in particular... he never said anything in return but it was obvious that he was listening, and that he understood, no matter what that screeching jet claimed. Sometimes you would even sing a little. And a few times, you even fell asleep against him, curling into the warmth he radiated.
And the more you visited, the more he seemed to warm up to you.
Which ultimately brings you back to now, standing on that flight deck under a clear, cold sky, with that huge dragon-mech lounging nearby, watching you curiously.
You look out over the indigo ocean - even from this height, it shimmers like a roll of silk in the bright sunlight.
And a terrible idea crosses your mind. A terrible, horrible, half-baked, exhilarating idea.
You've been bored for way too long.
You look back over your shoulder with a grin, the wind whipping through your hair. "Hey."
He cants his head at you in return.
"If I jumped, about how long do you think it would take for you to catch me?"
He lifts his head a bit further, and you can almost see the calculations running through his head in the way he eyes you
Before he can think to grab you, you're already sprinting away as fast as you can go. There's a sound of alarm from behind you, followed by the thunder of heavy footfalls, but it's too late.
"BOMBS AWAY!" You shout, throwing yourself headlong into the open sky with your arms open wide.
The plummet is like the first drop on the tallest roller coaster you've ever ridden - it knots up your stomach, makes your eyes water, and sucks the air from your lungs, and it takes you a few seconds before you're able to let out the delighted shriek that's built up in your chest. The icy wind buffets at your face and pulls at your thick coat, but even that bit of drag doesn't do much to slow you down.
A second later, and a massive shadow hurtles past you, and you watch as your dragon unfurls his wings to slow his descent and maneuver into your path.
(You're falling so fast now that you don't have the presence of mind to wonder just when you started thinking of him as your dragon.)
And it takes you a second more to work out that he's approximating your velocity. You'd half-expected him to snatch you out of the air, but of course that sort of tactic would probably (definitely) kill a squishy little thing like you. No, he's bringing himself alongside you, maintaining a flawlessly-calculated speed and position until you can safely reach down to catch the edge of his armor plating with your fingers.
Then, with the slightest adjustment of his broad wings, he pushes back up beneath you, and you find yourself lying flat on his back.
Your freefall slows, slows, until you're no longer at terminal velocity.
Then, with only meters left to spare, he banks into a wide turn, the tip of one wing just barely skimming the ocean's surface. You just laugh and press your cheek to his armor, holding on for dear life when the wind is forced from your lungs for a second time as you ascend. Your heart is beating so hard you're almost sure that he can feel it, too.
You're still laughing, though, giddy with reckless delight, when he finally catches back up to the warship and backwings into a skillful landing on the flight deck. Instead of climbing - or sliding - down like you'd expected, though, you find yourself briefly tossed back into the air when he transforms.
That was new.
He catches you again, this time in two clawed hands, and you fall back against his talons as he glowers fiercely down at you.
"Little fool. What is the meaning of such reckless behavior?" He demands; it's impossible to miss the concern coloring his voice. "You cannot fly."
"No, but you can," you smile as disarmingly as possible; "I knew you would catch me."
He lets out a huff.
It's adorable.
"I've always wanted to go skydiving, anyway," you continue, "I could just never afford it, so... I saw an opportunity, I took an opportunity. And you're way cooler than any stuffy old Cessna and a boring parachute."
If you didn't know any better, you might have sworn that he looked flustered for a moment.
He kneels down and gently deposits you back onto the flight deck; you're too wobbly to stand on your own just yet, so you just collapse back onto the chilly metal hull with another breathless laugh.
"The next time you wish to 'sky dive'," he rumbles, looming over you, "warn me before you fling yourself over the edge."
"I'll try to remember that."

Does anyone know of any articles, forum posts, videos, blogs that have mentioned a person's results studying chinese through automatic language growth (AGL) like a full 1000+ hour course, or comprehensible input lessons? Or even people sharing results after doing the "study 10,000 sentences" method. But I'm most curious how much progress people made studying chinese through chinese input.
There's well known Thai AGL courses (and video lessons on youtube), and there's enough learners i can find some discussion of student results after X years. It sounds like in the thai lessons, students ultimately did pick up correct tones (although some agl teachers prioritized tone specific lessons before doing agl lessons).
I'm curious if in a model of "use only chinese language resources" without explicit pronunciation instruction would actually result in good or even fairly understandable chinese pronunciation, since agl courses (and some comprehensible input courses) insist good pronounciation will simply Result when the student finally feels ready to talk after a lot of input.
A lot of japanese study methods that prioritize input learning, include not needing to try to output (speak) the language until 1000-2000 hours in. And ive seen many of those studiers (Refold Method, AJATT) mention they spent purposeful time on learning pitch accent when they did start outputting. So it seems good natural accent was NOT guaranteed just by learning from lots of japanese input. Now, the AGL method of learning would argue that learning the Refold/AJATT way includes LOTS of translation into ones native language and all of those times would've worsened a learners accent and impacted their automatic language growth in japanese. Basically the agl idea is: when you use your native language, attempt to translate and explain the target language, you come up with imperfect not-quite equivalents so you ingrain many tiny errors into your understanding of the new language. Which makes some sense. You can tell a learner for example "say 2nd tone chinese as if raising voice at the end of a question in english" or "say j like jeep for pinyin ji etc" and the learner will do it like in english... which may be somewhat similar to the chinese but is not the actual chinese sound. AGLs idea is that you learn entirely in the target language, NO translations or approximations, so you learn what things mean and how theyre said by experiencing it. So i would imagine the AGLs method would assume Refold/AJATT learners of COURSE need to study pronunciation eventually, since they heavily relied on translation for at least their initial learning, so they'll have ingrained "similar to target language but not actually correct" habits.
I cant use myself to test results either lol. With french I had initial pronunciation instruction, then did more purposeful pronunciation study 2 years in, and while I know my accent is NOT perfect I am also aware my accent is much better because of the pronunciation study. Because before the 2nd pronunciation study at two years in, my french sounded so bad i could barely identify it AS french myself. And my listening skills were likewise attrocious, i could barely understand spoken french. After that purposeful pronunciation study, i found it much easier to watch french shows and listen to french. I dont think i wouldve even been understandable-to-french speakers except with great struggle, before the pronunciation study. But i learned at first primarily through reading french so to be fair i had very little listening-foundation in french.
With japanese I studied pronunciation specifically to some degree. I have also paid purposeful attention to listening resources. While i assume my pronunciation is NOT perfect, i do feel reasonably confident its understandable. And it generally has been. I took time at the beginning learning specific sounds, and my first teacher way back when in japanese 1 made us SHADOW and graded us on matching the dialogue audio example we shadowed as perfectly as possible. So purposeful pronunciation study was very much a part of it. I havent studied pitch accent, but ive looked it up and try to listen for it. Im not confident on ability to do that correctly and i think its likely im often making mistakes there.
With chinese, i studied pronunciation for 2 months early on, then again for about a month every several months. I even used an app to grade me on pronunciation. And using the app definitely helped me improve in some areas. I still am quite bad in some areas. I am still studying pronunciation. Ive done a ton of listening study, and while i can hear elements of pronunciation, my ability to replicate what i can Hear is not as good as hearing it. So im not sure how that gets improved. Maybe i need to do MANY drills, maybe i just have to talk a Lot more. Still working on it.
Point is, i did use english and translation and pronunciation study materials in ALL study of languages ive done. So i have no idea if AGL, like it says by using only the target language, actually produces a great correct accent. And im curious if tones actually get learned properly, if theres never any formal explanation of them existing or what to listen for. Because even some ALG programs i found mentioned tone drills for thai Before agl classes (at least for some earlier AGL courses that existed). Id also be interested if anyone did AGL/comprehensible input (like Dreaming Spanish videos with no translations) for stuff like spanish or french and described their accent and output after 1000 hours. But id rather see results for languages with tones.
Tldr: AGL lessons theory is your accent will be great, as will your grammar, if you learn only in your target language for 1000-2000 hours before trying to output once you feel naturally you wish to. I am wondering if anyone knows of anything shared they've seen from chinese learners who used only study material in chinese (no native language translation) about the results they had?
