"he doesn't love me anymore!" wilbur wails in a dramatic fashion.
he buries his face in his hands, and, for a moment, all that can be heard are his muffled sobs echoing around the cavern.
"wil, not that this isn't, uh, important, but you kinda told me this was a life or death emergency involving a tyrannical government," techno says.
wilbur's head shoots up as he looks at techno as though the blood god had personally gone and murdered his entire family. which, considering techno is best friends with the brunet's dad, would never happen, but the analogy works well enough.
"you don't understand, techno! it is life or death, and it's all because of schlatt! he definitely counts as a tyrannical government for what he's done to me." a look of annoyance passes over wilbur's face, momentarily halting his sobs.
"so... you're upset... because dream had to cancel one of your cuddle sessions to talk politics with schlatt? and you've been in this ravine ever since?"
"exactly!"
techno stares unimpressed at wilbur's display, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms. they have a brief stare off before wilbur decides he wasn't done with the theatrics and promptly bursts into tears again.
chat seems to be amused by the display, but techno, having spent years around wilbur through many stages of his life, figures it's best to just let this run its course. he occupies the time by looking around the ravine and crinkling his nose as he sees the state wilbur has been living in. the ravine is cold and damp, and the scraps of wool on the ground where wilbur has been sleeping do nothing to ease the concern building within techno.
ignoring chat cooing at his concern, techno spares one more look to wilbur, who has now begun to recite a monologue about abandonment as he leans himself against the stone walls.
"yeah, I'm gonna go get dream."
wilbur doesn't even look up when techno begins ascending the steps.

when techno showed up at the community house during what sapnap had dubbed "dream team hours," dream wasn't expecting to get pulled away to where wilbur had disappeared to. but with both sapnap and george urging him to go—
("dude you've been hanging out with us non-stop for days. go make sure he's okay." "dream stop being an idiot. you've been interrupting all of our sleep with how much you pace around at night in worry. leave before we get dragged into another almost-war.")
—combined with the hint of concern in techno's voice, it really wasn't surprising that he found himself in a ravine, watching wilbur pace around with his head drooped downward and his arms holding himself in a mockery of a hug.
"wil?" dream calls out softly, recognizing the way wilbur's fingers curl into his arms as a sign of his anxiety. "can I touch you?"
wilbur mutters out a quiet but audible yes, and dream wastes no time in closing the distance between them. he brings his hands up and softly cups wilbur's face in his palms squishing them ever so slightly and grinning when the action makes wilbur's dark eyes light up with hints of amusement. then, dream leans up and places a soft kiss atop wilbur's head, smiling softly into the fluffy hair.
"you scared me," dream says as he gently moves wilbur's head into the crook of his neck.
"I know," wilbur mumbles, wrapping his arms around dream's waist.
"you can't just run off like that without telling people."
"I know. I'm sorry."
dream sighs, tilting his head to nuzzle his face in wilbur's curls. "I'm sorry, too. I should've rescheduled with schlatt instead of backing out of an already made commitment."
"so we both fucked up," wilbur says, chuckling slightly, but dream can still feel the slight shakes caused by the brunet's anxiety.
"not the end of the world," dream reassures, and he feels some of the tension drain from wilbur's shoulders. "how about we go find a nice place to cuddle, then we can maybe make some pizza."
wilbur hums, and dream holds back a laugh as the vibrations tickle his skin. "can we go somewhere quiet?"
"anywhere you'd like, wil. anywhere you'd like."

Summary: [Dream SMP!AU] You’ve liked Technoblade from the moment he joined Pogtopia, but you could never quite bring yourself to confess. Who knew it would only take a pocket knife and some potatoes to change that?

You huffed as you pulled yourself up another rung on the ladder, your arms straining as you did your best to keep yourself balanced. You still couldn’t fathom why Tommy thought it was a good idea to dig straight down.
“I’ll hit a cave, eventually,” he had told you as he grabbed a pickaxe, already starting to mine away at the space beneath his feet.
“Maybe,” you had said. “But what if you hit a lava pool? Do you really want to burn alive?”
“Oh, I have a backup plan in case I fuck up.” He held up a bucket of water, grinning at you. “Bam. Fucking foolproof.”
Yeah, sure, you thought to yourself with a grimace as you continued to haul yourself upward. You might not have died while digging down, but I might die while climbing up. 
Pausing, you reached behind you to adjust the strap of your back with a cry of frustration. This is way too heavy—I should have gone back earlier.
You looked back up again, squinting for a second before your eyes lit up. At long last, light! You were at least somewhat close to the entrance, now. “Just a bit more climbing,” you muttered to yourself as you reached up once more, “and then you’ll be able to take this stupid bag off.”
A few moments later, you gasped as you finally dragged yourself out of the vertical tunnel, standing up on shaky legs. Without even an ounce of hesitation, you swung your pack off your back, dumping it onto the dusty earth ungracefully. Your muscles practically screamed with relief as you rolled back your shoulders, a wide smile stretching across your face.
“Hey, boys!” you shouted, your voice echoing in the tall ravine. “Guess who’s back?!”
You heard some rumbling, then a tuft of blond hair peeked out from one of the overhanging pillars. “Big [Y/N]!” Tommy shouted, waving at you. “You took for-fuckin’-ever to get back.”
You stuck your tongue out at him, crossing your arms over your chest. “It’s not my fault we needed so much stuff.” You narrowed your gaze. “Also, your ladder idea sucks.” 
Tommy scowled. “My ladder idea is fucking genius, you bi—”
A new voice cut in. “Tommy, that’s enough.”
You smiled triumphantly as you watched Tommy immediately shrink back, his tone quieting as he grumbled defeatedly, “Yes, Wilbur.”
Giving him a quick ruffle of his hair, Wilbur strolled down the ravine’s cobblestone steps down to the bottom. He pulled his hands out of his coat pockets as he flashed you a grin. “Welcome back, [Y/N]. How was the trip?”
You offered him a weary but satisfied look. “Oh, you know. Dark. Dusty. The usual. But…” Bending down, you flipped open the top of your pack and pulled out a smaller sack, shaking it in front of his face. “…I got all that gold you wanted! There’s probably a little less than seven stacks in there, which will be plenty if we want to make some golden apples.”
Wilbur blinked at you, his eyebrows raised in surprise as a smile began to tug at his lips. “Not that I doubt you or anything,” he said, “but where in the world did you manage to get nearly seven stacks of gold?”
You shrugged nonchalantly, dropping the bag into his hands with a hum. “In a cave.” When he stared at you in stunned silence, you quirked a brow at him. “What? It’s not like it was hard.”
He was grinning now, shaking his head. “You’re batshit crazy, [Y/N]. That’s incredible.”
You smiled sheepishly at his words. “For the record,” you pointed out, “I didn’t do it all in a single day or anything. I was gone for, like, half a week.”
“That’s still really good work, alright?” He reached over, playfully punching your shoulder. “Don’t be so hard on yourself.”
You winced, shooting him a dirty look. “Ow, that hur—”
“Oh, you’re back.”
Your head whipped around at the sound of low, rumbling voice. Your frown vanished at the sight of Technoblade standing a few feet away from you, a basket of potatoes held in his gloved hands. You felt your heart swell and a bright grin replace your scowl as you bounced over to him. “Hi, Techno!” you chirped.
He smiled back at you, his gaze kind. “Hello.”
From behind you, Wilbur let out a distressed noise. “Jeez, you seem so excited to talk to him but barely batted an eye at me. Did you miss him that much?”
You stuck your tongue out at him, trying to hide the flush of your cheeks. “More than I did you.”
Tommy cackled as he walked by, adjusting the straps of the pack in his hands. “Ouch. Maybe you should get some ice for that burn, Wilbur.”
Wilbur grimaced, opening his mouth to retort when his gaze suddenly lit up. “Actually,” he said, turning, “speaking of ice, who wants to go with me to the Nether to destroy some of the SMP’s and Manberg’s ice roads?” A devilish grin split across his face. “I figured that it would slow them down a bunch and they’d spend less time focusing on us, so it’ll be easier for us to get into contact with Tubbo.”
You blinked at him, then sent him a teasing smile. “Wilbur, this might one of the only good ideas you’ve had since starting a drug cartel.”
“Thank y—wait, is that a compliment?”
“Man,” Technoblade sighed, rolling his eyes at him, “just take it as one and let your ego coast on that for the next six months.”
“Anyways,” Wilbur said, ignoring him and moving on, “who wants to come with me?”
You shook your head, shifting your weight from foot to foot. “No thanks. I just got back from a long, long mining trip. I think I’m due for some time off.”
Wilbur nodded. “Alright, fair.” His gaze moved to the figure standing next to you. “Techno?”
Technoblade simply raised the basket of potatoes in his hands. “Nah. I’ve got my hands full here.”
Wilbur made a face, a hint of desperation seeping into his eyes. “You can farm potatoes any time,” he said, his voice raising a pitch or two. “How about you just come with m—”
“Why don’t I just go?”
Wilbur froze, and he turned with a shaky smile. “A-Are you sure about that, Tommy? You sure you don’t just want to stay in the ravine with [Y/N]?”
Tommy shrugged, flipping the stick in his hand. “Not really. It’s not like I have anything better to do, anyways.” He nudged the pack at his feet. “I’m even packed and ready to go, too.”
Wilbur swallowed, and you could have sworn a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead. “You really want to come?” he added, sounding more and more uncertain with each word that passed his lips.
“I dunno, Wilbur,” Technoblade spoke up, quirking his lips at him, “but it almost sounds like you don’t want to bring Tommy with you.”
Tommy gasped, looking appalled. “What the hell, Will? Of course you want me to go with you, right?”
Wilbur turned on his heel, dragging a tired hand over his face. “Sure, Tommy. Let’s just say that.” He strode away toward the stairs, practically stomping his way up to the second floor. “Just give me a second to grab a pack,” he sighed, waving a hand behind him. “I’ll be down in like five minutes.”
Tommy threw his hands in the air, waving his stick. “Fuck yeah!”
Technoblade let out a quiet chuckle, turning on his heel. “Well, I’m gonna go back to farming.”
You glanced at him shyly, trailing after him. “Can I come with?”
His step faltered, and he turned to send you a fond look. “Always.”
Your heart lit up at the sight and you grinned, following him into the garden room. The entirety of the floor had been replaced with dirt, tiny streams of water weaving their way around the potato patches. You let out a quiet hum as Technoblade set the basket of potatoes on the ground, grabbing a hoe from its place on the wall and walking over to the makeshift field. Digging the blade of the hoe into the earth, he pulled back and repeated the motion until the soft, dark soil was exposed to the air. Leaning back against the wall, a soft smile crept onto your face as you watched.
You remembered when Technoblade first arrived in the Dream SMP, all those months ago. You had been sitting in the ravine, peeling an apple with a pocket knife as you chatted with Wilbur, when Tommy burst in with a deafening shout about “the blade”. Raising your head, you had opened your mouth to make a snarky retort, but the words died in your mouth the minute you laid eyes on him.
He looked like a prince—a handsome one, at that.
While Wilbur had jumped down to greet Technoblade with a friendly hug, you had simply stared at the newcomer, pocket knife in your hand and apple slice in the other. As Tommy brought Technoblade over to you and asked you to introduce yourself, you remembered that dizzy pink feeling rising in your chest as you blurted the first thing that came to mind.
“Want an apple slice?”
You had expected him to be confused, shaking his head and pulling away with a disgusted look. But instead, his gaze flickered to your hand.
“I’d rather have the knife.”
You had blinked at him for a moment, stunned, then burst into laughter, outstretching your hand with the pocket knife handle extended toward him. He had offered you a small, awkward smile back, gingerly taking the knife from you. When his hands brushed against yours, that hazy, rosy feeling swelled in your chest again.
Ever since that moment, you’d only fallen harder and harder.
It was difficult to put into words just what drew you to Technoblade. Of course, he was pretty, but you weren’t that shallow. He had an awkward charm to him, something that seeped into every aspect of his being. He was hardworking, determined, sarcastic, and oh-so very real. You couldn’t name one thing about him that you didn’t like, really. You loved his laughter that came in brief, giggling bursts. Every time he smiled, you couldn’t help but smile back. He never failed to keep you guessing, and you loved every second you spent with him.
You weren’t sure how far you’d fallen at this point, but you knew one thing, and it was that there was no going back.
“Hey,” a new voice said suddenly, pulling you away from your thoughts. You turned, watching Tommy stick his head into the room. “Can I have some potatoes for the trip?”
Your eyes shot to Technoblade, who paused for a moment, then nodded, gesturing to the basket at his feet. “Sure. You can have a couple.”
Tommy grinned, strolling in to lean down and pluck three potatoes from the pile. Standing back up again, he toed the basket, tossing and catching a potato in his hands. “Hey, Techno,” he said, “don’t you ever get tired of farming these things?”
Technoblade paused, patting down the dirt he had just covered another potato with. “Eh, not really.” His eyes flickered with contentment, and you felt your lips twitch. “I like it.”
Tommy frowned. “But,” he said, “it’s so fucking boring.”
You gasped, shooting him a glare. “Tommy! That’s mean.”
“What? Am I wrong?” He flung his arm out to point at the tilled dirt, clearly unimpressed. “All he’s doing is the same fucking thing over and over, again. We’re in a war, [Y/N]. Why can’t he just spar with me or something?”
You crossed your arms over your chest, deadpanning. “Tommy, the last time you sparred with Technoblade, you lasted less than ten seconds.” 
He grew quiet. “Okay, well, you didn’t have to put it like that, but—”
“What? Am I wrong?” you said, mimicking him.
A second passed. Then two.
“…touché, [Y/N].”
“Tommy!” Wilbur’s voice echoed from the top of the stairs, his head popping out from between the railings. “You ready to go?”
Without missing a beat, Tommy whipped around, rushing out of the farm room and slipping up the stairs. “I’m coming!”
A smirk tugged at Wilbur’s lips. “Heh.”
“Wha—oh, Will! That’s fucking disgusting.”
“But it was funny,” you called out after the youngest.
“Fuck off, [Y/N]!”
Beside you, Technoblade let out a laugh, his eyes curving into two crescent moons as he set down the hoe and picked up a shovel. With a fond smile gracing your lips, you took a step toward him, leaning down to take a closer look. There was something so endearing about knowing someone as powerful as Technoblade had a hobby as mundane as farming—farming potatoes, to be more specific. 
You liked it. A lot. You liked him a lot.
You wondered how much longer you could go without saying it aloud.
“Hey, Techno,” you murmured, watching his ears perk up at the sound of your voice, “could you teach me the best way to plant potatoes?”
He paused, his shovel planting itself in the earth as he turned to look at you, his lips parted in surprise. “Y-You actually want to learn?”
You bobbed your head, praying that your face wasn’t growing any warmer. “Of course. Fighting’s fun and all, but there’s more to life than just bloodshed.” You flashed him a bright grin. “Besides, an army needs food to fight!”
With a small grin, he gestured for you step closer. “You want to make sure you dig about six to eight inches down,” he explained, gesturing down the hole with his finger. “If you don’t dig deep enough, then the potato will be too close to the surface, and if you dig too deep, it’ll have a harder time reaching the top.”
You nodded, your tongue swiping over your lips in concentration. Technoblade let out a brief cough, turning away with a slight flush to his cheeks as he grabbed a potato from the basket next to him. “Then,” he continued, “grab a potato. You’ll want to cut it in half down the middle and plant it so the cut side is facing downwards.”
Sticking a hand into his pocket, he rummaged around for a second before pulling out a familiar pocket knife. Your eyes flashed with recognition as he flipped the blade open and sliced through the potato with ease.
“Is that,” you began slowly, your tone tentative and gentle, “my pocket knife? From when we first met?”
Technoblade’s hands faltered as he sliced, his gaze flickering to you with a bashful look. “It’s—um, yeah. Does… does that bother you?”
You immediately shook your head, waving your hands in front of you. “No, not at all! I-I was just wondering. I haven’t seen it in a while, that’s all.”
He lowered his chin, and you could have sworn his cheeks were pink. “I’ve been taking good care of it,” he admitted quietly, his gaze not meeting yours. “It’s important to me.”
You blinked, your heart beating faster in your chest. “It is?” you whispered.
He nodded. “It is.”
You wanted to curl up into a ball and squeal. It only took two simple words from him to send you into a flurry of awkward smiles and blushing whines. You couldn’t believe just how far gone you were.
Technoblade stretched a hand toward you, half of the potato he cut clutched between his fingers. “Here. You try planting one.”
With a shaky hand, you gently pulled the potato from his hands, nearly flinching at the feeling of his skin brushing against yours. Carefully, you reached over and set the potato face down like he had instructed. You pointed your hand toward the pile of dirt lying just beside the hole, about to start covering the potato when his arm shot out in front of you.
“Wait,” he said suddenly, making you freeze in place. “You don’t have gloves on. I don’t want your hands to get dirty.”
You sent him a small smile, waving a hand dismissively at him. “A little dirt never hurt anyone.”
He didn’t budge. “Please. Let me.”
That fuzzy feeling was back, and you pulled back. “Okay,” you whispered, your stomach swarming with butterflies as you watched him cover your planted potato with his hands. For someone who made a lot of jokes regarding human ethics, he was far more caring than he let on.
“Y’know,” you said softly, glancing over at him, “it’s really cool watching you do this, even if Tommy thinks it’s boring.” A small smile flitted across your face. “There are all these specific conditions that you have to know to have the most efficient farm with the best percent yield of potatoes—it’s honestly kind of surreal just how much brainpower actually goes into farming.”
Technoblade stared at you, his eyes reflecting something thoughtful and warm, and another thought popped into your head. You felt your cheeks begin to grow warm at the words swirling around your head. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you opened your mouth, again.
“I-I, um,” you began shakily, suddenly finding the scuff mark on your shoe very interesting, “I really hope you know how smart we think you really are. How smart I know you are. Because you are. Smart, that is.”
You must have been trembling, you could almost feel it. Why was it so hard to put your feelings into words? At this rate, you were never going to be able to confess how you felt. Just how much longer could you drag this out fo—
“Hey,” he said gently, his voice pulling you out of your thoughts. You turned your head, your lips parting as you looked at him in surprise. The moment his soft gaze met yours, a spark of electricity ran through your veins, and you shivered for an entirely different reason.
“Thank you,” he murmured, tilting his head at you. “I appreciate it.”
Suddenly, he squinted his eyes at you, his carmine gaze narrowing. “Oh wait, you’ve got something on your face,” he murmured, inching closer in to take a better look.
“Oh,” you said, a hand immediately darting up to your cheek, “that’s probably just some dust or soot or something. You know, from the mines.” You wiped at your face with the back of your hand, embarrassment shooting up your spine knowing that you probably looked dumb. “Did I get it?”
He frowned, pulling off his gloves as he leaned closer. “No, here let me just—”
Suddenly, his hand was on your face, your cheek held gently in his palm. Your heart came barreling to a stop, your entire body freezing like ice. 
He was so close.
The pads of his finger were warm and calloused, yet they held a certain softness to him as his thumb slowly swiped just under her eye, careful to brush away the dirt that marred your face. Like a moth drawn to a flame, you found yourself unable to look away from him, hyperaware of the goosebumps that shot up your sides as his gaze met yours. A prince—he really did look like a prince.
For a moment, the two of you simply gazed at one another, a silent question hanging over you.
Before you could stop yourself, you opened your mouth.
“Can I say something kind of crazy?” you whispered.
“Of course,” he whispered, not moving his gaze from yours for even a heartbeat.
You sucked in a deep breath, screwing your eyes shut. “I…” You swallowed. “I really, really want to kiss you, right now.”
A moment of silence passed, and you held your breath, tension digging itself into your shoulders. Oh, I’m totally about to get rejected. This was such a bad idea. What was I even thinki—
“Can—” He started then stopped, and you could have sworn his cheeks were pink. “Can I say something even crazier?”
You heart leapt. “Yeah, totally,” you breathed.
He turned back to look at you, and you felt something deep in your chest click. “I really, really want to kiss you, too.”
Your eyes flew wide, and you couldn’t stop the giddy grin forming on your face. Almost imperceptibly, Technoblade dipped his head down close to yours, his crimson eyes darting across your face as he took in your every feature. As he leaned closer toward you, a question silently flashes in his gaze. 
Can I…?
You smiled and nodded oh-so subtly, just for him to see.
Yes, yes, yes.
Ever so slowly, he leaned down toward you, and you felt your eyelids flutter shut. Just then, his lips met yours, soft and tentative like a deer taking its first, shaky steps. Electric ran down your spine at his velvet touch, your hands reaching up to wrap around his neck and touch his cherry blossom pink hair. His crown tumbled to the ground off his head, rolling a few times before coming to a full stop, but neither of you particularly noticed, far too enraptured with one another to care.
This was everything you could have possibly asked for.
A moment later, you pulled apart, gasping for air as the two of you gazed into each other’s eyes. His hair had been mussed by your touch, his lips parted and puffy from the kiss.
You didn’t think he could look any more princely, but he still managed to prove you wrong.
Clearing your throat, you cast eyes away in shy embarrassment. “I feel like I should also clarify that this means I like you,” you added in a rush, fidgeting with your hands. “Like, way more than I thought I could ever like a person.”
Technoblade let out a sigh of relief, lips curling at the corners. “Oh, that’s good. I like you, too.” Your heart did a backflip in your chest, shouting in celebration as he added, “I was sort of thinking we were just gonna kiss and never talk about it, again.”
You shot him a quizzical look. “I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic.”
He sent you a crooked smile, but his gaze was fond. “Only kind of.”
You weren’t quite sure how many minutes passed in comfortable silence, both of you simply basking in the other’s warm presence. It was nice—this was nice. You wouldn’t mind staying like this for a while longe—
“—y it, Tommy, just say it!”
Your eyes shot wide open in panic. Across from you, Technoblade’s expression mirrored your own.
They were back.
“I’m telling you it’s okay, Tommy—you can call me ‘Wilby’ if you want to!”
Flailing your arms in a panic, you immediately began to backpedal to the other side of the room, Technoblade picking up his shovel and beginning to shovel as fast as he could.
“You’re still going off about this shit? Jesus Christ, I don’t want to call you ‘Wilby’, oh my fucking go—”
Wilbur crooned as they stepped into the garden room, “Aww, Tommy, my little gremlin.”
“Shut the fuck up, Wilbu—”
“B-Back so soon?” you prompted, pretending to have been looking at the potato field with great focus as you turned to face them.
Wilbur turned away from Tommy, the smile sliding off his face. He nodded with a sigh, adjusting the pack on his back. “We almost got to the portal, but Antfrost saw us, so we had to book it.” 
Technoblade paused his movements, deadpanning with an unimpressed tone. “Tragic.”
Tommy scowled at him. “Don’t sound so cocky, bitch. You didn’t have to outrun like, half of the SMP all the way back here without getting tracked.” Suddenly his gaze shot to the ground, narrowing his eyes suspiciously. “And why’s your fuckin’ crown on the ground?” he muttered, snatching it from the dusty floor and tossing it back over to Technoblade.
“No reason,” you said half a beat too quickly.
Wilbur’s eyes flitted back forth between you and Technoblade, taking in the sight of your flushed cheeks and Technoblade’s disheveled hair. Then, a sly, scheming smile crept onto his face. You gulped.
Oh, he totally knew.
“Tommy,” he said, the shit-eating grin still plastered to his face, “how do you feel about going on another trip with me?”
Tommy’s head whipped around, his eyes swimming with confusion. “Another trip?” he parroted.
Wilbur nodded, still smiling. “Yep. Another trip. Let’s get going, yeah? I’ve got something wonderful in mind.”
Before Tommy could even react, Wilbur had grabbed onto the handle of his pack, dragging him back and up the stairs. “Wilbur! What the fuck? Where are we even fucking going?”
“On a trip!” Wilbur sang as he trudged up the stairs with Tommy in tow. Throwing one last glance over his shoulder, he sent you a knowing wink. “You two have fun, now.”
You gaped at him as he walked off, Tommy still kicking at his heels when they vanished from sight. A moment passed in silence before you turned to look at Technoblade, again.
“He knows,” you whispered, half in awe and half in horror.
Technoblade grimaced back at you. “Oh, he absolutely does.”
A beat of silence fell over you. Your eyes locked onto his carmine ones, and something seemed to click just then, a smile crossing both of your faces.
Indeed, Wilbur had just provided you with the perfect opportunity.

The Sister’s Return
Summary: (Y/N) has reunited with her family with Dream’s looming threat...

        (Y/N) hesitated outside the tundra home as Techno went up to the house first.
        “You promise he’s not mad?” (Y/N) whispered to Tommy.
        “He…was mad for a while,” Tommy admitted. “We all were. It took us all a little while after…what he did to me to forgive you.”
        A crow swooped into the window as Techno looked at the younger pair as Ghostbur hummed floating into the house.
        “Phil! We found little note!” Ghostbur announced, making (Y/N) wince hearing her brother’s old nickname for her.
        “Play the song again please Wilbur?” The twelve-year-old girl begged as Wilbur looked down at his guitar.
        “Mmh, only if you sing it with me. My throat’s getting tired.”
        It was a lie. He just liked singing with his less annoying youngest sibling.
        “Ok.”
        “Here we go little note.” He smiled, giving a small strum to his guitar.
        “Even if he was mad, you can’t hide now.” Tommy huffed, following after.
        (Y/N) looked down at Fran, who had followed them all the way, before walking up to the house with shaky legs. Before she even got to the door, Phil came out, a soft smile on his face.
        “You’re ok.” Phil laughed quietly before coming over and taking her shoulders gently as she froze. “I’m so sorry angel. I-I should have been there and I’m sorry.”
        “Daddy’s girl.” Tommy mocked from the top of the stairs.
        He really hadn’t changed after everything.
        “It’s ok Phil, I should be saying sorry, I—”
        “No, it’s alright. Let’s get you inside.” Phil told her, looking around the area before putting a hand on her shoulder.
        He led her in now, Fran trotting in behind them. Once the door closed, (Y/N) had a feeling she hadn’t felt since she had been with…Dream. She…felt at home…
        Ghostbur floated as he hummed, taking some potions off a brewing stand as Techno rested his axe on the wall next to the door as he went to stop Tommy, who was already digging through his chests. Phil went to help with potion brewing as (Y/N) stood there.
        She felt like a stranger though.
        “Just because I’m letting you back in my house, does not mean you can dig through my things.” Techno scolded Tommy as he pulled him away.
        “Come on blade. If I’m going to help, I need some gear.”
        “You have your own gear and Dream’s gear!”
        “Technically Tubbo has half his gear!” Tommy pointed at him.
        “Come on Techno, don’t you want to help your favorite siblings?” (Y/N) grinned motioning to a sixteen-year-old Tommy, who put an arm around her.
        “Yeah, big man! Just a few things for the poor?” Tommy motioned to a fifteen-year-old (Y/N).
        Techno rolled his eyes at his siblings' shared mischievous grins. He knew he should have hung out with (Y/N) more, Tommy had been too much of an influence on her.
        “You think there will be a fight?” (Y/N) asked, everyone, looking at her.
        “Yes.” Phil nodded. “I got a message that…he wasn’t very happy you were moving on without him around.”
        “You can say his name. It doesn’t affect me as much anymore.” (Y/N) told him quietly.
        “Good because Dream is a bastard and we’re going to beat him again.” Tommy cheered. “The Sleepy Bois and their little sister are back!”
        (Y/N) smiled lightly and Tommy froze slightly, surprised by the smile. “Yeah, we are back.”
        Tommy stood there before grinning as he came over, throwing an arm around her shoulders.
        “Yeah! Look out bitches!”
        “Fucking pricks.” (Y/N) followed suit.
        “We’ll show them who’s the best!”
        “And have whatever we want!”
        (Y/N) actually gave a laugh after they recited the bit they always use to do. Tommy was grinning widely. He had missed his sister.
        “Fuck yeah!” He punched the air.
        “Alright you little bastards, get your gear somewhere you can get to it quickly,” Techno told them.
        “I got an ender chest in my old room, come on.” Tommy let go of (Y/N) before sliding down the ladder.
        She followed after him, Fran making home next to the fireplace.
        “We’re not going to actually make (Y/N) fight with us, are we?” Phil asked, not wanting his youngest to be around the masked man again.
        “No. Ghostbur,” Techno said, the ghost zoning back into the conversation.
        “Yes, Technoblade?” Ghostbur smiled.
        “Why don’t you tell (Y/N) what you remember? She hasn’t seen you in a while.”
        “Oh yes! That’s a very good idea Technoblade!” He nodded before following after the younger pair.
        “You got crows scouting?” Techno asked.
        “I’m not idiot Techno.” Phil gave a joking scoff. “I’ve been doing this longer than you.”
        “Good. Then let’s get ready.”
        (Y/N) raised an eyebrow around the odd room as Tommy went to the ender chest, pulling out a few pieces of gear.
        “So, this is where you went when you went missing.” (Y/N) muttered.
        Tommy paused, gripping the edge of the chest lightly. “Please don’t talk about that.”
        “Oh shit.” She put her hands over her mouth. “I’m sorry Tommy. I—Shit.”
        “It’s fine, you didn’t do anything during that time it was all Dream,” Tommy said, putting his armor and weapons on his bed. “We just need to be able to read each other again too I suppose.”
        “Well…after everything you still seem like you so I don’t think that will be too hard.” (Y/N) tried to lighten the tone.
        “I’ve changed a lot! I’m a bigger man.” Tommy crossed his arms at his sister.
        “Sure.” She teased.
        “Alright, listen here you prick.” Tommy started until Ghostbur floated down.
        “(Y/N)! We haven’t talked in so long, we should talk.” Ghostbur said to her excitedly.
        “I uh. Sure. If you want to Ghostbur, I just…” She looked at Tommy’s gear. “We got a thing to possibly do.”
        “Well, if it’s only possible we have some time.” Ghostbur grinned as he took her hand, making her shiver at the cold contact.
        “Oi. Ghostbur, let her get her things first.” Tommy told off the ghost.
        “Oh, ok. Get your things.”
        (Y/N) went into the ender chest, taking out her armor, bow, and sword.
        “Is that your old bow?” Tommy looked at it surprised.
        “Yeah…I put a mending enchant on it before we got your discs back.” (Y/N) grinned. “So, it’s still in action.”
        “…I think it will be perfect for fighting Dream with again.”
        She paused before nodding; the grin still wide on her face. “I think so too. We’ll fuck up his shit again.”
        Tommy nodded, deep in thought for a minute.
        “Hey, Ghostbur, wait up there for her, she’ll be there in a minute,” Tommy told the ghost.
        “Ok!”
        He floated up the ladder again and Tommy shifted awkwardly for a moment.
        “Did you…did you like doing all that stuff with him?”
        (Y/N) gripped onto the bow, taking a shaky breath.
        “I thought I did. I told myself I did…but every time I saw your face…I hated it. But he told me…he told me it was for the better and I believed him.”
        “We’re what’s best for you because you’re our family, and don’t forget it, alright prick?” Tommy crossed his arms, looking away.
        “Thanks, Tommy.” She smiled lightly. “I won’t.”
        She went to leave but he stopped her again.
        “Hey, if you…want to talk about it too, I get it,” Tommy said quietly.
        “I’ll keep that in mind.” She nodded.
        Then she finally went up the ladder, Tommy passing through the room quickly to go to the main room, and Ghostbur held out a piece of blue to her the second she got up.
        “Oh, uh, thank you.” She took it.
        “There’s so much to talk about! Techno said we should talk about what I remember. I remember a few things about you!” He grinned, clapping his hands together. “You use to sing music for me and I wouldn’t make fun of you for being a child because you could be really mature.”
        “Oh…you don’t remember a lot of things?” She asked, sitting.
        “No, but that’s ok. I remember a lot of happy things!”
        “So…you don’t remember Dream and me?”
        “Mmh, I remember thinking about how nice it was to see you next to Dream when we were making L’Manberg, even though I thought about how unhappy you looked.”
        (Y/N) stared at the wall as she stood to the back of the group. Wilbur was at the top, looking down at her in shock and she looked away.
        “I would like to know though Dream, how you managed to get my little sister on your side.”
        “She saw past your stupidity.” Dream answered simply.
        He’ll just use you for power.
        Dream’s voice echoed in her head, making her jaw clench.
        “Alivebur didn’t think you and Dream were very good friends. He often scolded Tommy if he brought it up.” Ghostbur hummed, before whispering to her. “Dream is a bit of a bad guy.”
        “Yeah…yeah, he is Ghostbur. That’s why me and him aren’t friends.”
        “Oh, that’s a shame, but now you can hang out with us again!”
        (Y/N) thought about the times she had caught Wilbur’s glare across a battlefield or simply across the open area. She had thought he hated him but had he suspected something was wrong?
        …
        “She’s a bitch now! Fuck her!” Tommy shouted at Wilbur.
        “Don’t say that about her Tommy.” Wilbur snapped. “She…looks so unhappy. Dream holds too much power, we can’t get to her easy, we need to figure something out to get to her.”
        …
        “What the hell did you guys let happen to (Y/N)?” Techno motioned to above the ravine where Pogtopia was stationed.
        They had just run and his own little sister had just tried to hunt them down with the rest of the mob of Manberg citizens. Her downfall though was Techno had taught her himself. Yet, there was just such a cold look in her eyes…
        “She did it to herself.” Tommy scoffed.
        “I don’t know, I haven’t been able to talk to her in a few years. I can’t get her alone no matter what I tried, that’s not the problem right now.” Wilbur paced.
        Techno thought it was a huge fucking problem though and decided he needed to figure out what was going on, on his own.
        …
        Techno heard the crow before it flew through the window. It gave a flap of its wings to Phil and Phil nodded, looking outside.
        “He’s close by.”
        The pair had managed to get (Y/N) alone and they had seen through the façade when they talked to her and tried to subtly get it out of her. They thought they could get another chance when she left but then Butcher Gang came and Dream visited Techno’s home.
        Sure, they had been mad about her betraying their trust by telling people where Techno’s home was but when Tommy came to them, they weren’t mad for long. They were the first to understand what must have happened to her as well.
        Phil put on his last bit of armor as Tommy came up to them, paling slightly.
        “He’s here already?”
        “He’s close.” Techno nodded. “Get ready, we’re not taking (Y/N).”
        Tommy hesitated but nodded. He didn’t want Dream near his sister again. As the young boy put all his gear on, Techno picked up his axe with his crossbow on his back and Phil grabbed his own bow. He managed his gear on when Techno saw Dream walking through the snow.
        “Let’s go.” Techno nodded.
        The three went out, weapons at the ready and Dream grinned behind his mask.
        “Sorry Dream. I don’t do charity cases for the homeless, gonna need you to leave.” Techno told him, shouldering his axe.
        “Are we really going to go through this again Techno? Are you going to talk to your voices again too?” Dream laughed. “I know you have what I want. So, either, send her out now, or I’ll kill all of you.”
        “You can try, you green bastard, but I finished you once! I’ll do it again!” Tommy shouted.
        “But here I am Tommy! You can’t stop me. I got out of prison and now here I am. Back again!” Dream took a step forward and Phil aimed his bow. “You won’t, no, you can’t kill me, Tommy. Come on, we were friends, weren’t we?”
        Techno put the axe in front of his brother as Phil shot the arrow in front of Dream when Tommy’s breathing picked up slightly.
        “You’re not getting anyone today,” Phil told him. “So, we’re going to give you one chance to say you failed and leave.”
        Dream merely smirked behind his mask before going straight for Techno. With ease, Techno blocked the sword with his arm, the sword sparking on his armor before Techno swung his axe right for Dream’s side and the masked man jumped back.
        “A fight it is then.” Techno grinned, the voices going into a chant.
        Tommy pulled his sword and Phil switched for his sword as well. The fight was on.
        …
        “What else do you remember?” (Y/N) asked the ghost. “About…me.”
        “You were an awful lot like Tommy but you could calm down and be little note with me.” Ghostbur smiled. “It was always nice seeing you and Tommy play together though. And when you two become friends with Tubbo, it was meant to be really. It always made Alivebur smile and it makes me smile too!”
        “It seems a lot of things make you smile though Ghostbur.” She laughed quietly.
        “But there’s so many wonderful things we get to do and see!”
        (Y/N) smiled lightly. Ghostbur seemed to be all the good things about Wilbur…but she missed the bad stuff of her brother…
        Both the ghost and she jumped though when they heard the sound of fireworks.
        “That doesn’t sound good,” Ghostbur muttered, taking out a piece of blue.
        (Y/N) leapt up, as she now could hear the cawing of the crows and metal on metal. Dream was here!
        “Shit, shit, shit.” She panicked, throwing her armor on.
        “(Y/N),” Ghostbur mumbled.
        She looked at the ghost of her brother as she put her helmet on. A panic was in her eyes but there was the spark of a fire that brought good memories to Ghostbur. Memories of when she’d practice sword fighting and archery with Technoblade or when she’d scream at Tommy’s bullies or when she was taking lessons with Alivebur to learn guitar. He smiled lightly as he saw the real (Y/N) that had been missing.
        “I love you.”
        “…I love you too Ghostbur.” She gave a light smile before grabbing her one arrow, sword strapped to her side.
        She got outside to see Techno loading his crossbow with another firework as Tommy was dodging a sword swing from Dream who had a cracked mask with slightly singed clothing while Phil was dashing to go in for a low blow. Everyone had minor wounds as armors had dents and scratches. (Y/N) felt her breath catch in her throat as she gripped onto her bow before raising it.
        “I never throw away my shot.” She muttered before letting the arrow fly.
        It caught Dream’s mask and it flew off his mask. (Y/N)’s arrow reappeared on the bow as she pulled back, her infinity enchantment doing its work to bring her arrow back as though it was never gone even though it pinned Dream’s mask to the ground.
        “STOP!” She commanded.
        “(Y/N)!” Dream grinned ducking from Tommy’s sword swing before knocking the boy down, winding him as he parried Phil’s attack, pushing the older man back. “I’ve been looking for you everywhere! Where have you been my friend?”
        “Drop your sword!” She demanded.
        “(Y/N), come on. It’s me, Dream.” He smiled.
        She clenched her jaw as Techno looked between the pair as the other two of her family stayed where they were. Then she changed the direction of her bow and it snagged his pant leg, pinning the fabric to the ground as another arrow appeared in her bow.
        “Leave my family alone.” She told him.
        “Your family?” Dream laughed. “They haven’t tried to talk to you in almost three years! Now, they thought they had power over the two of us because I was locked away; they tried to use you! I broke out to save you.”
        His voice was creeping back into the back of her mind as she gripped onto her bow.
        “YOU BASTARD!” Tommy’s voice broke through the voice of Dream.
        Dream hissed as Tommy snagged a weak point in his armor, drawing blood.
        “How dare you say I’d use my sister!” He shouted, pushing the man back, jumping back as Techno quickly aimed his crossbow.
        Dream dove out of the way as the firework went off where he had been.
        “I won’t let you use my sister like a puppet.” Techno put his crossbow away to replace it with his axe.
        An arrow landed in front of Dream’s face and (Y/N) pointed her bow to the ground.
        “I never miss, so take the friendly warning. Leave and never speak to me again. Leave this land.”
        “You…you can’t…” Dream gave a laugh.
        “She can do whatever she wants mate,” Phil said, all three of them standing in front of (Y/N). “And you’ll have to go through us to even think about her. I suggest you leave.”
        “You’ll regret this.” Dream spat at them before getting up and ender pearling away.
        A weight was gone as (Y/N) teared up when the three looked over at her.
        “Oh dear, you need some blue.” Ghostbur came out now and gave the girl a piece of blue.
        “Thank you.” She sniffled wiping away her tears.
        Tommy came over putting an arm around one side of her shoulders as Techno went on the other side as Phil put a hand on her head.
        “We won!” Tommy cheered.
        She had missed her family…

What was supposed to be a simple mining trip goes horribly wrong when Y/N doesn’t pay attention to their surroundings. 
Y/N’s POV
“Be careful” Techno warned, pressing a kiss to my forehead and then one to my lips. I couldn’t help the smile that graced my face, “Will do,” I responded softly, kissing my boyfriend once more before checking to make sure I had all I needed for my trip. Food, wood, torches, and my netherite pickaxe. 
When Techno and I had moved out of L’Manberg, a lot of his things were taken before we could pack it up, including his many stacks of diamonds. Techno had a lot to do at our new snowy home, so I offered to go mining for us. Techno was hesitant at first, but after assuring him multiple times I would be fine, he agreed and made me an enchanted netherite pickaxe that had Efficiency V, Fortune III, Unbreaking III, and Mending on it so that it would let me mine faster and wouldn’t break in the middle of my trip. 
“You have everything?” Techno asked softly. I nodded with a bright smile, “I do!” I chirped brightly. “Okay… I’ll see you in a few hours?” I hummed in confirmation, “I’ll see you in a few hours.” Techno leaned down and pressed a soft kiss against my lips, I immediately kissed back. A few moments passed before I forced myself to pull away, knowing I would never leave if I didn’t. “I love you so much” I murmured to the pink haired man. A soft blush fell on Techno’s cheeks. Techno pulled me in for a quick hug, pressing a kiss to the top of my head. “I love you too, love. More than you’ll ever know.” 
Techno released me from the hug causing me to let out a sigh. I took a few steps down into the mine before turning and waving to my boyfriend who remained at the tops of the steps. He immediately smiled softly and waved back. “Bye baby” “Bye love”. Another sigh escaped my lips as I turned back around and continued down the steps, further into the earth. 
It didn’t take me too long to get to level 12. I immediately got to work on strip mining. I hit many patches of coal, redstone, iron, and many other ores, but no diamonds. I had been down in the mine for about an hour at this point and had yet to find what I actually came down here for. Which is why I was so excited when the next piece of stone I removed opened a hole to a ravine. 
I slightly thanked whoever was above for this. This is the break I was looking for. I quickly removed the other piece of stone that blocked my path and immediately rushed into the ravine. I looked around, making sure to note where the lava was so that I didn’t accidentally walk into it or fall. I quickly decorated my opening with torches so I would be able to tell where I came from so I wouldn’t get lost. After only a few moments in the ravine, I found what I was looking for. “DIAMONDS!” I screeched in victory, rushing toward the patch embedded in the wall of the ravine. 
I quickly mined the diamonds and watched with glee as they kept going. Once I was done with the patch, I had acquired 24 diamonds. I let out an excited squeal as I moved further down the ravine to search for more. Another patch came into view and I ran up to it with excitement. I was so absorbed in my excitement of finding diamonds, that I didn’t hear the drop behind me. Maybe had I heard the telltale sizzling of the creeper that had fallen behind, I wouldn’t have taken so much damage. But I didn’t. By the time I realized what was happening, it was too late. The creeper had exploded, sending me forward into the stone hole I had made. My face smashed off of the hard wall and much like the creeper, my back exploded in pain. I couldn’t help the scream that escaped my lips at the blast. 
I took a few moments to take some deep breaths before slowly standing up and crawling out of the hole. My legs shook under my weight. “Oh fuck,” I breathed out, my eyes scanning the ravine. A lot of mobs had spawned. A lot of them were ignoring me, but due to the explosion, some had turned to look and found me. As fast as I could, which wasn’t very fast, I turned and limped back toward where I came from, my eyes scanning the wall for my torches. 
The sound of footsteps hitting the ground sounded behind me as mobs dropped from above to chase me. My breath quickly as I slowly began to panic. Icy hot fear ran through me as I realized one fatal thing that I had forgotten on my journey. A sword. A bow. An axe. Literally any weapon to protect myself. I forgot it. I didn’t think that I would need it… I’m so dumb sometimes. 
The groan of a zombie grew closer and closer. A sharp pain shot through my shoulder as something hit it. I let out a whimper as I turned around and found a zombie right behind me. I took a deep breath and punched the zombie as hard as I could, causing it to stumble back, giving me enough time to escape. 
My eyes caught sight of the many torches that outlined my entrance to the ravine causing me to almost cry in relief. I whimpered as I limped faster toward my safe haven, but once again, a sharp pain shot through my shoulder. This pain though caused me to scream. I looked at my shoulder and found an arrow sticking through it, almost causing me to faint. I willed the thought away, knowing that if I did faint, I was a goner and would lose a life. I gritted my teeth and threw myself in the hole I created earlier, immediately turning around to block the path with cobblestone. 
Once I knew I was safe, I allowed the tears that had built in my eyes to fall. Everything hurt so much. I had such a long walk back to the stairs out of the mine and then I would have to walk 50 blocks up and 50 blocks home. I placed down a single piece of cobble and took a seat to try and compose myself. I pulled out some of the food I had packed from my inventory. 
As I ate, my hand brushed against my nose and when I pulled it away, blood coated my hand letting me know my nose was in fact bleeding from the impact of the wall. The food helped me feel a tiny, and I really mean tiny, bit better. I mentally assessed what was happening in my shoulder before deciding it would be best to leave the arrow in my shoulder so that I wouldn’t bleed out on my way back, no matter how uncomfortable it was. I also made sure to check my inventory and was happy to find the diamonds I had mined safe in my care. I had only found about 40 but there was no way I was spending more time down here to look for more. 
After taking the time I needed to calm myself, I slowly stood up and began my long walk back to the stairs. The journey took me about an hour and a half. I had to take it really slow due to my injuries. But I made it to the stairs nonetheless. I almost cried staring up at them though. It took me another half an hour to climb the stairs that normally would have taken no longer than 10 minutes to climb. 
By the time I reached the top of the stairs, I was exhausted. I couldn’t walk anymore, but I had to. The house was about 50 blocks away. For some reason we decided to keep the mine and the house separate and now I cursed that decision. I stared at the warm house and almost sobbed at the sight. “TECHNO!” I screamed as loud as I could. The pink headed man was on the front porch doing something. At the sound of my scream the man immediately dropped what he was doing and booked it toward the mine. “Y/N!” He yelled in return.
My legs quivered as he drew closer and when he was right in front of me, they gave out completely. Techno caught me and pulled me as close as he could to his chest, keeping in mind the arrow that was poking from my shoulder. “What happened?!” He questioned in a panic, his eyes scanning over my body. “Mobs.” I whimpered, clutching his shoulders tightly. “I told you to be careful, damnit” He hissed, scooping my legs into his arms and carrying me bridal style to the house. “I was,” I whimpered. My body must have sensed that I was now in a safe place because my vision went black and I completely collapsed into Techno’s arms. 
*Small Time Skip*
My shoulder’s cold. That was the first thing I could think of when I came too. What’s on my shoulder? I let out a groan as my eyes fluttered open. I wasn’t in the mine or outside in the snow. I was in Techno and my shared bedroom. I slowly turned my head to look at my shoulder. The arrow had been removed and it was now wrapped in gauze and an ice pack sat on top of it. My throat was dry and my body ached, less than it did, but I was still sore. “Techno?” I croaked, hoping he could hear me. 
I didn’t have to wait long. The door swung open within seconds and there stood my pink headed boyfriend. “Y/N” He breathed, rushing toward the side of my bed. He leaned down and pressed a sweet and careful kiss to my lips before kneeling down beside me, clutching my hand tightly. “You scared the hell out of me,” He murmured, pressing a kiss to the back of my hand. “I’m sorry,” I whispered back. Techno let out a small sigh before kissing my hand again. “Don’t be sorry love. It’s not your fault. I should have gone with you or sent you with better protection.” I couldn’t help but roll my eyes lovingly, “It’s not your fault” I playfully mocked, bringing his hand to my mouth and kissing it. Techno chuckled deeply at my statement. 
“How are you feeling?” He questioned, standing up slightly, his eyes glancing over my injuries. “Okay” I told him, “I’m a bit sore, but okay. I could use a glass of water,” I hinted. Techno chuckled and nodded, “On it,” He quickly left the room and returned with a glass of water. My boyfriend held the glass to my lips and helped me drink. Once I was done, he set the glass down on the nightstand. “Anything else?” he asked. I slowly extended my arms and made grabby hands. Techno laughed and got the hint, crawling in bed beside me. Slowly, he wrapped his arms around me, making sure that what he was doing wasn’t causing me any pain. Once he was sure I was okay, he pulled me close to his chest, pressing kisses on my head. I giggled at the feeling and allowed myself to relax in his arms. 
“Thank you for taking care of me,” I whispered. Techno hummed, “Anytime love. I’ll always be there for you. Just try not to scare me like that again. When you fell… I just felt my heart stop. I don’t know what I would do if I lost you.” I nodded slowly into his chest, “I’m glad you were there to catch me when I fell. My legs just gave out. It took me so long to get back up from the mine and I was so tired…” “I’ll always be there to catch you when you fall. Just don’t make a habit of it.” The two of us shared a laugh about that. “I promise,” I murmured, letting out a yawn. “You’re tired, you should sleep more. I’ll still be here when you wake.” Techno murmured in my ear. I let out a tired hum and nodded. “Okay… I love you” “I love you too… so much”

Warnings: Cursing
Summary: Y/n tells Dream her secret after he catches her sneaking out of the Dream SMP lands. This takes place after the election where Techno lives with Tommy and Wilbur, but before Wilbur decides to be a villain.
This is so old, this is a draft that I never posted. I wrote this when I first joined the fandom, I started this in November, though I added some bits and pieces occasionally, you can probably see the difference in writing styles if you squint hard enough.
“Where are you going?” She stilled at her dark haired friends words, which she was certain were directed towards her. She slowly turned to face him, the netherite sword he held only served to intimidate her substantially.
“Hmm? Oh, I’m just going for a walk to clear my head Sap, I’m just on edge about everything that’s happened in L’man- Manburg,” she quickly caught her mistake, wondering how long it would be until he noticed something was off.
Sapnap chuckled darkly, “You aren’t the only one. Dream is losing his mind. As much as he hates people being free from his rein, he’s been saying ever since the election yesterday that he would much rather have Wilbur be in charge than Schlatt, he’s like a broken record,” his laugh became much lighter and amused as he finished, Y/n laughing slightly along with him.
“Hey, Sap, can I tell you something? It isn’t exactly a secret, but I would appreciate if you wouldn’t tell anyone.”
“Yeah, N/n, you can tell me anything, you’re one of my best friends, you know?” His tone was so unbelievably genuine, but that only made her heart ache more, it just added to the long list of reasons she couldn’t give in to Wilbur’s harrowing pleads for her to leave her current life behind.
Y/n hesitated, before trusting in what Sapnap told her, “Even if he’s my brother, Dream’s tyranny is so repulsive. If people want to be free, let them, they deserve it,” her sincere, dejected words and hurt smile broke his heart. He knew she was friends with Tommy, Tubbo, and Wilbur before they rebelled, and said brother had nearly killed them each countless times.
When a few tears slipped from her eye, he couldn't help but lunge forward, engulfing Y/n in a hug, "Please don't cry, please," she was surprised, she had never seen him like this. Sure sometimes he would get emotional, but never this much. She liked that he cared, but she found herself missing his usually sarcastic and bright demeanor. "You probably should go for a walk, just please, don't cry again, it hurts me too."
"I'm sorry. I won't cry anymore, okay?" She gave him a soft smile before returning the hug. "I'm gonna go now."
"Don't get hurt, or Dream's gonna have my head," Sapnap chuckled nervously, if she did get hurt then his statement would prove to be true.
"I wouldn't let him, trust me," Y/n reassured him, then waved as a wordless goodbye. 'That took longer than I thought it would, hopefully Wilbur didn't get bored waiting for me.' She walked while in sight of her best friend, then proceeded to sprint when she knew she was hidden by the spruce trees. She saw Wilbur and immediately ran faster, wanting so badly to be in his arms.
She slowed down, trying to catch her breath so she didn't pass out. She sat down against a tree right next to him. "Y/n? Are you okay?" She nodded and put her arms out gesturing for a hug. Wilbur just sat next to her and pulled her close to his chest. "You have no idea how much I've missed you, I haven't seen you in what feels like forever," god, did that accent give her so much serotonin.
"Did you cry though?" She said mockingly while looking up at his brown eyes which were filled with concern and his contradicting smirk.
“Y/n, did you cry because you couldn’t see me for so long?” He was concerned for her, but he was also very proud to have that effect on her.
“Well yeah, but that isn’t the only reason why, Sapnap and I had a little heart to heart about Dream, and how horrible of a person he is, and then one thing led to another and I started crying because this is all Dream’s fault, and if he wasn’t so controlling, you guys wouldn’t have left in the first place, and life would be fine, but no, looks like I have a piece of shit for a brother instead-” She ranted about her brother until she heard a familiar voice that didn’t belong to her lover.
“Well, I wouldn’t say it’s all my fault,” Y/n’s eyes widened in horror as she looked up into the tree next to the one she was sitting by only to see her madman of a brother sitting on a branch, “and calling me ‘a piece of shit’ is a little over the top, wouldn’t you think so, George?” He called to the man sitting on the branch on the other side of the tree. Y/n couldn’t help but notice Sapnap was nowhere to be seen.
“Yeah, maybe a little,” he was unsure whose side he should be on. Dream is his best friend, but Y/n is right, his oppression is so disturbing, he shouldn’t be able to treat people like that and yet he still does.
George's thought process was shut down by an arrow piercing Dream's forearm. No one there knew what was happening except the blonde boy who shot the arrow and the pink haired man standing a few metres behind him, “Tommy are you insane?!”
“Whatever he is, we have to go.” Wilbur stood up and so did Y/n. He grabbed her hand and sprinted towards Pogtopia, immediately rushing down the steps and into a well-hiden room in the renovated ravine, “I don’t think Tommy or Techno even know this room exists, so we can be alone for once.”
Y/n sighed and sat on a bed in the corner of the room. She made grabby hands at Wilbur, wanting him to cuddle with her. He smiled and flopped onto the bed, wrapping his arm around Y/n’s waist.
“I love you. Sorry for bringing you into this chaotic life of mine.” He smiled warmly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Don’t apologize, Wil. You know I love it.”

Niki was a very gracious host; you had come to love her company. She would be gone in the day, helping with the patients the doctor hadn’t turned away. At night she would come and talk to you, tending to your needs. She was extremely easy to get along with. It had been a few days and you saw both Dream and Techno every day that passed. You even got to meet Wilbur, both her and Techno’s friend. They all had an amazing dynamic together.
Your sickness had started to calm down, though you still couldn’t do too much from the fatigue you still felt. Your highlight of the day was Techno, who would come bring Niki some of his already stocked-up food and she would cook, while Techno would read to you. That was a deal made between the two of them, and they both seemed pretty content. Dream was always there watching over you when he could as well.
 Dream was out and about most of the day, finding more survivors and helping them, with the help of his friends Sapnap and George. He loved telling you stories of the events he had been through, both recent and long passed.
 It was the middle of the night and you were having bad dreams, it was easy for them to sneak up on you. Peace eluded you even more so after the recent events. You woke up with a start, the pain still in your shoulder. Pushing yourself up, images of your dream flashing behind your eyes. Blood dripping off the blade, Techno’s friend… Phil… wielded. You were back in that house again in the dream, and you wished you could scrub your memory clean. You were supposed to be safe here, you were…
  You choked out a sob, causing Niki who was sleeping on the floor to stir, you put your hands over your mouth cursing the fact that you had woken her up. The tears started streaming down your face. You could hear the fabric of her blankets rustling beside the bed, she crawled over to the bed sitting on her knees right next to you.
 “A-ah,” Niki leaned forward, “Please… Why are you crying? Are you in pain? What can I do to help?” Niki sounded distressed and you disliked that fact, you didn’t want to be the cause of it. You couldn’t help but shake your head. Your vision was blurring as you started hyperventilating. An overpowering sense of dread settled in your chest. “Do you want me to get someone?” She asked her eyes searching your face. You hesitated but nodded, your fingers grasping at the fabric of your shirt on your arms.
 “Techno… Please.”
She didn’t hesitate, she got right up and threw on her shoes, not bothering to change out of her pajamas.

 Techno laid back on Phil’s couch in his newly dug out home. Kristin and Phil had gone to bed hours ago, leaving him alone with his thoughts and the voices who had taken to whispering the letter E to him for the hour. The house was nicely built, and it already had a homey feel to it. Phil and Kristin’s building and decorating energies flowed well together. You almost wouldn’t expect it to lead out to a massive ravine. The house was still under construction, and the guest bedrooms weren’t complete yet.
 Techno helped with the house, building things for Phil, on account of his broken arm. He was happy to help Philza, in between his visits with you… Techno even helped with Kristin’s garden. The back of the house led out to a good sized ‘backyard’. Techno helped till the dirt he brought in and he gave Kristin the resources to start their farm.
 His thoughts were cut short by a frantic rap at the door. If he weren’t a hybrid, he probably wouldn’t have heard Niki’s voice calling out to Techno from behind the heavy dark oak door. The stress in her voice made him jump up to his feet, rushing to the door. Adrenaline began pumping, and he unlocked the door and swung it open, revealing a disheveled Niki, she was out of breath from running.
 “She’s panicking Techno,” she said in between breaths, “She wanted you.” Her hands gripped at her knees as she struggled to catch her breath. His grip tightened on the door.
 “Thank you, Niki.” His voice sounded out, as he slipped on his own shoes. He didn’t even bother getting his mask.
 “You two take all the time you need,” Niki panted handing him the key to her place, “I’m going to go check on the patients,” Techno saw something in Niki’s eyes that he just couldn’t place, along with a smirk. He would ponder on it another time. Right now, he was thinking about you, and how you had requested him to be there.
 He left Niki standing there at Phil’s door. He was in the residential part of the ravine. As they expanded the cavern, it started to expand in a crescent shape, with a long main road bustling with homes and businesses. Even in the late of night, people were walking around, working on their projects. The voices riddled his mind.
 ‘She needs you.’
 ‘Protect her.’
 He quickened his pace once the bakery came into view. People around him started to stare, and they would quickly look away once they realized who was rushing through their town. People didn’t like Techno, it was obvious. It was more so after the incident with Dream, people saw him for who he was. Dream’s words echoed through Techno’s brain. ‘When you have scared the living shit out of her, I will come to be there for her. Because I know, you will slip up.’
 He shook the thoughts from his head. He needed to be there for you right now. His feet landed on the wood steps of the bakery and he took no time in unlocking the door, and walking in. Locking it behind him. He could hear your sobbing from the front room. His heart pounded. What if he wouldn’t be able to help you through this? What if this would just result in you pushing him away? Techno knew he wasn’t good with comforting people. He swallowed down the lump in his throat. His steps rung out against the stone floor, and his pace quickened when he heard you call his name.
 “I’m here.” He said as he stepped through the doorway to the room you were in. His eyes landed on you; your face buried in your arms as they rested on your knees. “Everything is okay.” He stopped just short of your bed, kneeling so he could be eye level with you. “You’re safe. Just breathe. I won’t let anything happen to you.” He mimicked the way Phil helped him with his panic attacks. He didn’t dare to touch you. When your eyes met his he implored you to follow his breathing.
 It was a few minutes, and your breathing had calmed down, but your hands still shook. You shifted your body and motioned for him to sit next you. He seemed hesitant, but he climbed up on top of the bed just next to you.
 “What’s your favorite color?” His eyes searched your tearstained face. You cocked your head at him at his question. Your eyes flitting up to his golden ones. “Come on, what’s your favorite color?” He asked again. You let out a shaky breath and gave your answer. “That’s a good color.” You saw his mouth quirk up into a smile. You wanted to see him smile more.
 He ended up firing off questions at you waiting and listening for your answers. He was patient with you when tears spilled from your eyes again, not nearly as bad as before. You didn’t know how much time had passed, but your eyes started to feel heavy again. You felt thoroughly worn out. You let out a little sigh, and you leaned on Techno’s shoulder. Feeling him freeze for a second, he wrapped his arm around you carefully, the both of you lying down in the bed. Your face buried in his chest.
 “Thank you, Techno.” You whispered to him, taking in his scent. His arm tightened around you, as he drew the covers around the both of you. You were fast asleep.
 Techno was staring up at the ceiling, like he had done every single night thus far. This time with you in his arms. It was a weird feeling, being in this situation again, not out of necessity, but out of want. You had initiated this, and it was foreign to Techno, even if it felt right. But for Techno one thing was for certain, and he couldn’t help but be a little freaked out… When he found you in the room, not one of the voices in his mind could be heard… And for the first time in a while, he was afraid.

 Ranboo was sitting in his small cave like home, his pets lounging about around him. He hadn’t gotten around to building too much for his own home, but he had been helping with the farming, even going into the nether and finding the gigantic bones, he was learning how to imbue the bone meal with magic so the plants could grow almost instantaneously. With the volume of people in the ravine it was still hard to feed all of them, not to mention still try and make enough glistering melons for potions. With Dream’s team bringing in more and more people by the day, it meant more bone meal had to be made, but the bones were starting to deplete from the surrounding areas of the portal in the nether. They tried composting, but even that was proving hard if they didn’t have a lot of resources to compost…
 Today was the day that Phil had called for a town meeting. Everyone was meeting in the town square. The clock on Ranboo’s wall read that it was mid-day. It was almost time to go, he went through his checklist of what to bring with him, patting his pockets down in search of his key. He scans around the room cursing the fact that he can’t remember where he put his key. He didn’t have much in the way of furniture and his home rivaled a small studio sized house. It couldn’t have gone far…
 Searching for it, he found it hidden behind the dragon egg on one of the only end tables he owned. He quickly pocketed the key, his eyes turn to the egg, a small smile gracing his lips. He put a hand on the egg, he could feel the life in the egg pulsing, it let off a happy aura at Ranboo’s touch. He turned and started heading to the door. If he left now, he would be early to the town meeting, and he could help Phil do whatever he needed to.
 A sound echoed off the stone walls, and it was a sound Ranboo knew well. It was the sound endermen made when they had teleported, but… This wasn’t an enderman teleporting… He was almost afraid to look back, but when he did, the egg wasn’t where he had left it. He quickly scanned the room, and it didn’t take long to see that the egg had teleported in front of the door.
 “Huh…” Ranboo breathed out. He walked over to the egg, crouching to grab it. When he returned it to the place that he had just left it, he took a step back, watching it for a few seconds before sighing. “How weird…” Ranboo mumbled out before turning toward the door again. He only got a few steps away before the egg did it again. Ranboo cocked his head at the egg. It really didn’t want him to go… He thought for a second. Trying for a third time and getting the same result. He was just going to have to carry the egg with him. He grabbed a canvas bag settling the egg in the bag and covering it up. Ranboo could feel the happy aura radiating through the bag. With a sigh he was ready, he went out his front door, finally on his way to the town meeting.

 Phil looked out over the crowd that had gathered, he had no idea where Techno had gone but he was sure it had something to do with you, not that Phil minded of course. He wasn’t even sure if Techno was going to stick around, if Techno wanted it, he would give him one of the rooms that was currently being built in his house.
 He stood next to the beacon shining brightly in the town square. People started congregating around him. There were so many faces he didn’t know. He started to even feel worried. How could he take care of all these people? He had barely gotten through Will and Tommy’s antics when they were children. Hell, Phil even now had to tell Will to stop eating sand.
 Phil was brought out of his thoughts when Ranboo weaved through the crowd of people with excitement in his eyes. He gave Phil a half wave, before he protectively settled his hand on a canvas bag he had strapped on his shoulder. Phil looked down curiously at the bag, it looked like an ordinary bag but there had to be a reason Ranboo was guarding it. He would ask about it later.
 The crowd grew steadily, looking at Phil expectantly. His eyes looked for anymore faces that he could pick out among the crowd. His eyes landed on Wilbur, Tommy, Niki, and Kristin, who had found their places at the front of the crowd next to Ranboo. He gave a big sigh and let his eyes scan over everyone.
 “Hey everyone,” his voice echoed on the walls of the chasm. He almost faltered when nothing but silence answered. “So… I know things have been hard and it’s going to take some getting used to.” Looking in the crowd, he saw many tired faces, faces that wanted answers, and Phil didn’t know if they would like his answers.
“So… First things first… The food situation.” His eyes gazed over the farms. “Sam and I are going to start up work on automated farms,” Phil’s confidence started growing with every word. “I’ve seen Sam build with redstone and he is one of the best people for the job.” Phil paused. “When it comes to bone meal… be sure to compost anything that is compostable. If anyone would like to go deeper into the nether for bones we haven’t found yet, or if you want to hunt for skeletons, be sure to tell Sam he’s working on procedures to make sure everyone gets back safely,” Phil, after going through some specifics of the nether, asked the people a question.
 “So now that we have plans and are settling here nicely… I wanted to ask you lovely people what should our home be named?” Phil didn’t have to wait long, because his sons had stepped forward, an excited look on their faces. They had obviously talked about this topic at one point or another.
 “L’manburg!” Wilbur’s excited cry echoed through the chasm.
 “No Pogtopia is better!” Tommy argued. Listening to their squabbling, Phil puts an end to it.
 “Shut!” He shushes his boys, earning the laughter from some of the audience. “Does anyone have any other suggestions?”
 “How ‘bout The Burrow?” A deep voice suggested… That voice could only come from Eret. Phil looked at them, thankful for a regular answer. It was talked about for a good few minutes, with people putting random suggestions into the hat. It was a toss up between The Burrow, and Derinkuyu. After much consideration and everyone voting, the majority vote was in favor of The Burrow.
 “That’s all fine and dandy… But what about our sick and wounded that keep getting turned away?” A disgruntled woman spoke up. Phil was taken aback by the question and he thought about it, the crook of his finger resting on his bottom lip.
 “Niki,” Phil’s eyes flicked to her. “Has the med bay been updated since we got here?” She shook her head.
 “We haven’t had time to do anything,” Niki spoke up, “It’s just as crowded in there now as it was a few days ago.”
 “Alright…” Phil said after a few seconds of silence. “Any builders, who want to work on an actual hospital, will need to find Wilbur,” He motioned at Will. When more and more questions made their way to Phil, he fired off solution after solution to the people questions. When the crowd seemed happy and no one else had any questions for him he gave out a sigh. A familiar voice broke through the crowd, and his heart dropped.
 “Who the fuck put this guy in charge?” Schlatt stepped forward from the back of the crowd, he had been leaning on the blank wall that led into the med bay listening in until this point. He made his way to stand right beside Phil. “This guy, won’t be able to lead you people right.” He jerked his thumb toward Philza. If Phil didn’t have a broken arm, he would have crossed his arms over his chest.
 “Schlatt, what are you doing?” Phil studied his face, he wasn’t wasted off his rocker, which meant he was up to something.
 “Let’s just say that I’m… educating the people.” His gaze turned from Phil to the crowd. “Are you really going to let the man responsible for this whole mess, rule you?” Gasps could be heard from the crowd, but Philza refused to falter.
 “Do you really think, I wanted this? Listen Schlatt, if you want to rule these people so much, go for it.”  Phil’s eyes burned holes through Schlatt.
 “I don’t think you originally wanted this, no.” Schlatt’s eyes peered over at him. “But a good opportunity, is still a good opportunity.” His voice was amused. “Why don’t you tell them all what happened? I think you owe them that much.” Phil was at a loss for words and now he was facing an angry mob. When his eyes glanced over at his love, Kristin, she nodded at him, trying to be encouraging. He let a shortened version of him and his friends killing the ender dragon spill out from his lips.
 “So, this all happened because you wanted to scavenge for loot, is that what you’re telling these good people.” Schlatt feigned his surprise.
 “Schlatt.” Phil said through his teeth. “The books and scrolls I read did not tell me anything about this.” Phil gritted his teeth. “I have been looking into ways of reversing it. I have been nothing but transparent with these people since we got here. But if you think you would do a better job go ahead.”
 “Uuuuh… Phil I don’t think that’s such a good idea.” Will chimed in. Schlatt’s eyes flicked to Wilbur.
 “And why is that Big Man?” His voice taunted.
 “Schlatt, you’re a fucking drunk, the only reason you’re not plastered right now is because our inventory on liquor is low.” Wilbur motioned at Schlatt his voice calm and collected but Phil knew Will was absolutely livid at the accusations thrown at Phil. “Phil, will actually keep us afloat, whereas you would crash us into the ground.”
 “We will see about that.” Schlatt gave him a smirk as he stepped down, his arm bumping Will’s. Phil let out a shaky sigh as Schlatt disappeared into the dispersing crowd. Some people looked at him, disgust written all over their faces. Phil felt a hand slide down his wrist and take ahold of his good hand. Kristin leaned on him, letting him know she was there for him. That’s all he wanted in this life. He wanted his family, staying by his side. His eyes scan over Tommy and Will. Even Techno was on that list, he didn’t need to be blood to be his brother.
 “Let’s go home,” Phil lightly put his hand on Wilbur’s shoulder, guiding all three of his family back to his and Kristin’s home. He ignored the stares he had gotten from people. He needed to think things through. But now Schlatt had put him in a bind. Things were just going to get harder from here.

DREAM SMP Swap AU
Dream = Wilbur : Dream comes into the server to help these two kids who are trying to stir shit up -- why not, right? He's got a fondness for chaos but also very protective and caring over his friends. VERY FOND OF TUBBO. To the point of.. well, brotherhood. Wilbur = Dream : He had a vision, to create a place where people could emancipate -- he's not above being the bad guy to keep that ideal in place. He's charming and self-confident and isn't afraid to use blackmail or get all up in your business. Has dirt on everyone but Dream. Constantly threatens secrets but subtle, yanno? Again, very charming, very persuasive.
Tubbo = Tommy : Still very sweet, but Big Crime often comes out to play more often than not. Also a huge trouble magnet, tried to start a...Honey smuggling empire? For some fucking reason, despite its innocent sounding plan, is a threat to Wilbur's land but no one has any idea why. Tommy = Tubbo : Tommy has an innate fucking fixation on music discs. He's got Cat and Mellohi personally. He dreams of starting up a music cafe/music area...? He and Dream get along swimmingly, Dream actually gifts Tommy a few music discs too, but also pins Tommy with the name discount Dave Strider.
Fundy = Eret : Was convinced earlier on by Wilbur to continue his 'legacy' and ideals. Fundy further grows into a neutral party, doing things only when it benefits him. Is the traitor from the first war. Eret = Fundy : Gets far too involved with stuff and the only way out is if he wiggles through the restraints on him. Yes that's metaphorical.
JSchlatt = Technoblade : Assists through uses of contracts and business deals. Like, hello, Tubbo's Honey smuggling business? He and Dream make an agreement, he supplies Dream and Tubbo with shit, and Dream does favors for Schlatt. Technoblade = Jschlatt : Anarchy lmfao. Was actually brought on by Wilbur in secret. Acted as a benefactor for Dream before turning around and causing chaos in the land Dream Tubbo and Tommy built. Blood for the blood god, only the strongest gets to the top kind of government. There's always fucking pitfights. Oops.
Philza = Callahan : Largely uninvolved in the events, mostly just there to supervise Wilbur, Tommy and Techno. Duh. Callahan = Philza : Has personal history with Dream, tries to convince him not to do the thing that could hurt everyone else. Minimally succeeds.
Alyssa = Niki : Ready to defend her home and her family. Niki = Alyssa : Neutral, but ready to back Wilbur up if need be.
Sapnap = Bad : Arsonist, goes around and burns shit whenever he wants to. His base is a Nether inspired fortress. Also, he has to deal with a Nether problem in reference to the Red Vine problem from the original SMP. Hotlands? LMFAO Bad = Sapnap : Helps when asked. Started out on Wilbur's side, as a favor, but slowly shifts neutral due to the conflict between factions.
Karl = Skeppy : Gets held hostage? That's what preoccupies Sapnap's time. He suddenly disappeears or gets trapped in a cell. Skeppy = Karl : Runs around doing supply runs. Gets his friends into various stints to try and settle the conflict through friendly rivalry and competition. It doesn't always work.
George = Ranboo : Unlike original Ranboo, George is highly unsympathetic and needs concrete fucking facts before he acts, and that kind of backfires on him in the end. As a favor to Dream (how many favors is Dream involved in honestly) he runs messages back and forth from Tubbo to Tommy. Ranboo = George : Largely uninvolved in the conflict, like Niki, but unlike OG George, is not absent. He's just there to assist. One of the most innocent and purest people on the SMP, knows when to keep his head down. When his house burns down, he doesn't really believe its Tubbo who did it -- he knows the kid has been framed because he'd been WITH him at the time, but Wilbur pressures him to admit it.
Quackity = Punz : Wilbur's loyal paid henchman. Quackity will cause shit for the appropriate price, he's not exceptionally picky. That stunt he did as Mexican Dream was great and everyone in L'Manberg loved it. Punz = Quackity : One of the best fighters under Techno. Has more morals, but keeps them secretly. Very good at hiding his true intentions/feelings.
(sorry about the other characters not being on here, i dont know them enough to make swaps, or dont know who they'd make a good swap with. Swap who you wanna swap though! i'd like to hear your take on this matter! HEADCANONS ACCEPTED TOO AT THIS POINT EVERYTHING HERE IS FROM WHAT I REMEMBER AND MY HEADCANONS)
PLOT
-Wilbur starts the SMP with Niki, slowly invites others like Ranboo, Tommy, and Tubbo.
-Tubbo expresses a desire to Fuck Shit Up and Tommy says they can get Dream, he's an expert at getting away.
-Dream is extremely protective of them both. Tubbo more than Tommy but that's fine because Tommy is largely independent.
-Tubbo gets in the weirdest shit but Tommy can roll with the punches really quickly.
-Wilbur gets tired of their crap and burns down Tubbo's establishment. It's like the Disc Wars except it's the Great Honey War. Bee War? Basically he's tired of Tubbo hogging all the Honey related expenditures.
-Dream gets the idea to make a honey smuggling empire, as a joke, but Tubbo is Big Crime and he's going with it. Tommy just wants chaos, and he was getting bored tbh.
-Eventually the Honey thing turns into Resource management, so Tubbo Dream and Tommy have a hold on all major supplies
-Shit happens and Dream, Tubbo, Tommy, Eret, Sam, Fundy and Alyssa establish an independent nation. Dunno what to call it bc the server is called the L'manberg SMP so....
-The fight for indepencence still happens. Instead of 'Green boy' Wilbur is named 'E-boy'. Dream still says "WE HAVE NO MERCY FOR YOU" when Wil calls for a ceasefire negotiation, but Wilbur does threaten the nation saying  "If there is no white flag by tomorrow, then you can kiss your sorry little arses good bye. That's my final warning."
-Turns out Fundy's been secretly funneling information to Wilbur in exchange for the safety of his friends, and also because Wilbur's his dad....uhm. Also! He and Dream are circling each other and others are like "OH MY GOD YOU GUYS ARE DEAD RINGERS FOR QUEERPLATONIC MATES JUST MARRY ALREADY" bc I like FundyWasTaken but others might not and its okay, we'll label it as platonic, but can be read otherwise depending on your tastes. But for this, it's very close platonic.
-Wilbur goads Tommy into a fight, as brothers do, but Tubbo steps in and Wilbur fucking jumps at the chance.
-This is the start of Dream's descent into madness. No one fucking threatens or pulls one of his friends like that. Denied. It's still subtle though, so he's okay for now.
-Tubbo and Wilbur face off. When Tubbo pulls back bc he genuinely doesn't want to hurt anyone, Wilbur takes the chance and beats him.
-Tubbo, however, makes a deal. Let their nation stand on its own, and he'll give up the Resource Empire he started. Wilbur accepts, with the condition that they unify their alliance with a...marriage? So basically, political marriage between Wilbur's heir, Fundy, and Dream, the leader of the revolution.
-YEAH I WENT THERE THIS IS VALID
-They're strained at first, but Dream and Fundy slowly mend their relationship post-betrayal.
-Fast forward a few months later. The Nation doesn't really have a leader, as per the agreement, but it does have a representative. All decisions are made via majority votes, and that decision is voiced by the rep and sub-rep, Dream and Tubbo respectively. Tommy's just there to have a good time and causes chaos as per usual.
-Enter Technoblade. He's been called in by Wilbur to...ah. Dismantle a little...nation. Sounds right up his alley. But he asks Wilbur to wait and see what happens.
-Tommy and Dream get the idea to hold a tournament to celebrate their independence, an all out brawl for everyone to kick back and relieve stress. There. That's where Techno comes in.
-He gets Punz to join him after like, being paid (ofc) and they fucking dominate the tournament. Dream's about to congratulate them but Techno turns the fuck around and declares his right to rule the nation. If anyone wants to fight him for the title, they're welcome to try.
-Dream loses another life to Techno trying and failing to fight it. He and a few others lost their first life sometime elsewhere? I guess? Probably by being blown up by Wilbur, idk.
-Tubbo and Dream are chased out by people who reluctantly follow Techno's orders, and Tommy, torn between his friends and his brothers, stays behind. Oh jeezus.
-Since Techno is a fighting GOD, no one's able to usurp him to make things turn back to normal. But Dream is smart, and knows Wilbur's 100% behind this. Fundy kind of knew but didn't do shit about it, which is why Dream rejects Fundy's offer of sanctuary. He can't be sure his husband will stay on his side, after all. It's nothing personal.
-Dream and Tubbo hide away somewhere, probably not a ravine but?? A mountain or something? They manage to get Sam away enough to ask him to build a super cool Redstone contraption thing that opens for them. ooooo.
-I'm not good at names but for the sake of jokes I'm gonna call their land the 'Bee's Knees' bc at some point Tubbo finds a fuckton of Hives hanging from Trees. Bee Mountain if Dream's feeling especially salty.
-SPEAKING OF DREAM. his insanity is on course now, it's slowly eating away at him and in fear of hurting Tubbo he's slowly distancing himself away. Tubbo's like what's wrong but Dream can't answer -- he doesn't know what's wrong with himself either.
-Tubbo and Dream need to go back and confront Techno, but they can't wait for long else Techno's going to obliterate everyone and their extra lives. They call Schlatt in.
-Schlatt's a pure business man and draws up a contract. He'll aid them in terms of supplies, but most of the revolution is on them. They agree.
-Tommy is actually really fucking good at lying and skirting around what he reveals to Dream and tubbo as a spy that Techno would have believed him if he didnt' know his brother. and Wilbur's warnings, of course. That results in Techno just being fucking done with Tommy's bullshit and plans his execution in another tournament? I guess?
-It doesn't go like the festival. First of all, Schlatt can't fight for shit, so why would Techno call him up the stage? No, Schlatt fights dirty. techno doesn't set much rules so theres no rule against poisoning Tommy quick and easy before the fight. Tommy loses another life and is on his last. Tubbo is spitting mad, but Schlatt points out that nothing in the contract covered this, so he's free to do as necessary. Tubbo is stopped by Dream who, at this point, is just overtaken by the need to one-up Techno.
-Also, Wilbur's been slowly persuading Dream to just. Let go. Let the monster inside of him free, he 'deserves it'. By the end of it all, Dream does. He snaps and lets loose the monster crying for blood inside him.
-Callahan is left to convince his old friend not to do it. In a moment of clarity, Dream stares on in horror of what he'd done. In his rage he managed to deplete ALL of Techno's lives (not really but shhhh), cause massive bloodshed, and terrified everyone in the process. He asks Callahan to kill him. Callahan does.
-Yes we'll get to Ghost Dream eventually.
-Anyway, Schlatt still does the Wither plan, because, uh, Drunken Rage. He was so stressed out from the ensuing conflict that he's like "LETS JUST FINISH THE REST OF YOU. THERE WILL BE NO CONFLICT IF YOU ARENT THERE TO FIGHT."
-and then he uses the line from the Lego movie on Tubbo like "Oh, Tubbster. It's nothing personal. It's just Business(tm)".
-Schlatt still dies of stroke. He does come back as a ghost though, that's one main difference.
-After everything's said and done, and the dust has settled, everyone decides to disband the nation, and just live their lives. like, they're done, wilbur, they get your point, jfc, let them rest.
-but uhhhh someone frames tubbo for setting fire to ranboo's (the server sweetheart) house. wilbur immediately decides to exile tubbo in 'anger'. acutally, he wants tommy and tubbo separated.
-tommy's not standing for it though, he fucking fights his way until wilbur threatens him and tubbo's like YES FINE OKAY I'LL AGREE TO BEING EXILED STOP THREATENING YOUR BROTHER
-tubbo's exile arc is not as sad as tommy's, but rather very tense because wilbur keeps riling tubbo up and taunting him. he still keeps contact with tommy though because they arent going to be separated just like that. no way. tubbo just gets a little more mad and gets short tempered like a lot.
-ranboo's not even that mad about it, he knows tubbo would never burn his house, there was a conspiracy on board and even if there wasn't he's like "arent yall overreacting its just a house, didnt you all do this like before the first war even began, what even (also, ranboo was WITH tubbo at the time of his house allegedly being set on fire. Not that he'll admit to it, because he and tubbo made that agreement long before)
-eventually he finds out that wilbur just wanted to pin the blame on tubbo to make him leave, and ranboo's like "IM DONE WITH YOUR CRAP WILLBUR STOP HURTING THE PEOPLE I CARE ABOUT" and leaves
-with the nation gone, people started to solidify their groups. sapnap and karl deal with their own thing, quackity still runs errands for wilbur, george is the main person ferrying messages from tubbo to tommy back and forth, etc.
-there's a funeral for dream, ofc, fundy arranged it. all of dream's shit was hidden because fundy doesnt want wilbur to get it.
-niki's still there managing her bakeshop but doubles as an informant for wilbur because she's well liked within the server
-ghost dream is present and he's a chaotic troll who mostly hangs around tommy. he's really hyper active and is always on the move, you can never catch him sitting still for like, 5 minutes

Deuteranomaly
AN: I’m back with some more TEA au. Thank you to @dreamsmp-au-ideas and their lovely anons for fueling this one. Dadza to the rescue (sorta). He’s come for his boy and he ain’t leaving without him. The title is a pun as well as a reference :D
TW: Tommy isn’t in the best shape, mentions of malnutrition and fainting/collapsing 
Phil knew Tommy would be here. Wilbur warned him and it made sense that Schlatt would keep him as close to the egg as possible. But knowing didn’t mean that Philza was anymore prepared for what he saw.
Tommy...he just looked wrong. Everything just looked off. From the patches of bleached out white on his sleeves to the unsettling redness of his irises. Fresh cuts and scrapes covered his arms and face, poorly bandaged and sure to scar. His top hung loose and Phil was certain that if he looked underneath, he’d see ribs. Tommy turned to look at him and Phil felt his breath pause for a moment. There was no life behind those eyes, no joy, no excitement, no Tommy. Phil had seen every expression on Tommy’s face before but never this awful blankness. 
The two stared at each other for a moment; one too shocked to react, the other waiting to see what he’d do. Phil saw Tommy’s eyes flick up to his wings for just a second before settling back on Phil’s face.
“Mate...what did they do to you?” Phil spoke softly, scared to break the silence just in case it set Tommy off. Tommy’s eyes flashed with recognition as he took a few stumbles forward, hands shaking. 
“P-Phil?” Tommy was quiet, too quiet, and his voice sounded rough from lack of use. His sword slipped from his fingers, falling uselessly on the ground by his unsteady feet.
“Yeah... yeah, I’m here” Phil’s voice got caught as he saw the flickering of greyed blue starting to fight the red. Tommy’s legs gave in on him, knees buckling, and Phil rushed forward to catch him before he hit the floor. He cradled his youngest in unsteady arms, god, how long had it been since he’d even seen Tommy, let alone held him? 
“Dad...dad, I’m s-so tired...” He sounded it. Tommy was bigger then him now Phil realized as the teen hid his face in Phil’s robe, gangly legs stretched out behind him. The avian went to put a hand on his back like when Tommy would cling to him after a nightmare and, oh god, he could feel Tommy’s spine. He chose to weave a hand into Tommy’s hair instead, leaning down to whisper in his ear despite there being no need to be quiet. 
“You can sleep when we get back to Pogtopia, I promise.” Tommy let out a whine and a mutter that caused a chill to run through Phil’s blood. 
“Need to sleep...need to be safe...” Phil started to help him up. There wasn’t time for this, he had to get away. He slung Tommy’s arm around his shoulder, blocking out the heart wrenching whimper that came from his child, and put an arm around him for extra support, ignoring how he could feel Tommy’s ribs touching the top of his hand. 
The journey back to Pogtopia was long and slow but luckily the egg cult had been distracted by a planned attack from Technoblade and the others to chase them. Tommy struggled the entire way, sometimes conscious enough to ask about Wilbur or Tubbo but there were a few too many moments where his eyes glowed that unsettling crimson once again and Phil would have to tighten his grip as Tommy tried to pull away from him. Seeing a worried Technoblade and panicking Tubbo at the entrance of Pogtopia brought him more relief then he’d like to admit.
He handed Techno Tommy’s limp form, his heart swelling a little as he saw Tommy weakly curl into the piglin’s arms. He barely caught the little whine of his name as the trio walked down the stairs of the ravine.  
“You can sleep now, Toms, it’s safe. You’re safe”

Philza and His Favorites
summary: it was always clear phil had favorites. it wasn’t like he kept it a secret, either.

a/n: sorry if the format is weird. the timeline may be a little mixed up, and i know i skipped some plotlines, but i wrote this from memory so i did my best. also, this is my first piece of writing that im posting! :D you can read it on ao3 here!
     It was always clear Phil had favorites. It wasn’t like he kept it a secret, either. Even before Tommy, Phil always favored one twin over the other. And when he found his third son, shoveling dirt into his mouth by the handfuls in his back yard, well, it’s obvious he wouldn't exactly be on top of the list. 
     Growing up, it became more and more blatant to Wilbur and Tommy that they would never be above Techno. Phil always took his side during arguments, always thought that Techno could do no wrong. Wilbur was fed up. Years and years of being pushed to the side in favor of his twin almost had him at his breaking point. And when Phil broke the news that he and Techno were leaving to start their own Arctic empire, without his two other children, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Wilbur was screaming, begging, pleading for his dad to just pay a little bit of attention to him, and when he realized he would never get it from him, he packed his things, packed Tommy’s things, and together the two forgotten brothers ran as far away from their neglectful father as possible.
     They had been walking for days, taking refuge in small villages here and there, just waiting for their saving grace. Eventually, they found it. The Dream SMP. It was glorious. The ruler of the lands, Dream, had welcomed them with open arms and gave them a place to stay for as long as they wanted to. There, they met a plethora of people, including Fundy, Niki, Eret, George, and many other residents of the SMP. Not too long after they had gotten situated, Tommy met Tubbo. They had instantly clicked, and as an act of friendship, they found two discs that would always symbolize their friendship. 
     But the SMP wasn’t as perfect as it had once seemed. So, the two brothers alongside Tubbo, Fundy, Niki, and Eret had formed a new nation, L’Manburg. It was great! They ran a drug lab to keep the economy going, and even made some business partners. The boys had hardly forgotten about their dad, constantly wondering why they weren’t as important to him as Techno was. They pushed these thoughts to the back of their heads, gaining L’Manburg independence at the forefront of their minds. 
     In preparation for their first war of many to come, Tommy and Wilbur had become almost inseparable. They had built a nation with their own hands, together. And when Tommy offered up one of his lives in return for L’Manburg’s freedom, Wilbur’s heart almost broke on the spot.
     After winning L’Manburg its freedom, (If you could even call it winning), Wilbur felt as if it was unfair that he had just proclaimed himself president. In honor of true democracy, they decided to hold an election. Their party was the only one running, until one day someone from far away named Quackity, accompanied by George, wanted to put democracy to the test and created their own running party to rival Tommy and Wilbur’s, called SWAG2020. Suddenly, everyone seemed to have a burst of confidence after seeing Quackity challenge POG2020. All of the sudden, one running party had turned into four. POG2020, consisting of Tommy and Wilbur, SWAG2020, which included Quackity and George, COCONUT2020, comprised of Niki and Fundy, who had mainly run as a joke. And the last party, SCHLATT2020, a one-man party including someone that had been previously banned from the SMP. 
     So the election went on, and Wilbur never got too worried. He knew his people loved him, and he was confident that he would get their votes. Last minute, in an attempt to skew the votes, SWAG2020 and SCHLATT2020 elected to combine votes. And it worked. Leading SCHLATT2020 to victory with 46% of the vote. Immediately taking the stage, Schlatt was quick to revoke the citizenship of the brothers who had built the country he now ruled.
      The two of them were practically chased out of their L’Manburg, soon to be renamed Manburg. They found themselves in a ravine, both of them panicking and on the verge of tears. Tommy quickly sobered himself up, and declared that they would get their L’Manburg back, they just needed a little bit of help. So while the newly formed country was built in the bottom of a ravine, Tommy proposed the dreaded idea of calling his older brother. Wilbur was hesitant at first, but eventually was the one to give him the call as he knew it was for the best. When Technoblade showed up at the best possible time, they were elated! However, there was just a smidge of hope in the both of them that their father would accompany his favorite son. 
      Day after day, Wilbur was slowly going insane. Every day he wasn’t ruler of L’Manburg, he lost a bit of himself. He eventually had become so far gone, he believed that if he couldn’t have L’Manburg, then nobody could. He proposed his plan of blowing the place to smithereens to Tommy, who was immediately against it. Tommy just wanted his country back. He didn’t want it gone for good. Wilbur was persistent with this plan though, and recruited Dream to supply him with all the TNT he could ever ask for. He was just waiting for the opportunity to arise. And luckily for him, it came in the form of a festival. 
     The days leading up to the festival were some of Wilbur’s worst. He wasn’t himself, and everyone around him knew it. That didn’t stop them from helping him plant the TNT. The day of the festival, Tommy, Wilbur, and Tubbo had a hushed conversation on top of a building not far from the podium. Wilbur was having second thoughts about his plan, so he placed all of the weight on Tubbo. He told him to just say the word and he would detonate the explosives that would destroy the country he once ruled. And when Tubbo did say the line, Wilbur sprinted towards the button room, only to forget where it was. While Wilbur was away, Schlatt had put Tubbo in a cement box, accusing him of treason. With this, he called Technoblade up to the stage, ordering him to execute Tubbo. As he pulled the trigger on his rocket launcher, Techno looked back to his little brother, to see him on top of a building with a devastated look on his face. Techno didn’t seem to feel too guilty. He started slaughtering everyone around him. In the midst of Techno’s massacre, Tommy ran towards Wilbur, and before he could even get a word out, Wilbur was quick to tell him the TNT had been moved. 
     After the festival, a new war was declared. The Manburg v. Pogtopia war. They had finally won, they had gotten their L’Manburg back. As Wilbur stepped up to the mic, he suddenly turned on his heel and beckoned his younger brother and right-hand man to the stage. He handed L’Manburg to Tommy, and exited the stage. Tommy denied rulership of L’Manburg, stating he still had unfinished business to take care of and couldn’t rule L’manburg the way it should’ve been run, and so he handed the presidency to his best friend and partner in crime, Tubbo. While the presidency hot potato was going on, Wilbur was having an internal battle in the button room. He was reading the lyrics to My L’Manburg when he felt a presence behind him. He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked over to see his father. His dad. He looked at him with tear-filled eyes, and detonated the TNT. He could feel the blast, feel the heat coming from behind him, washing over him in waves. 
     He looked over to see his dad’s shocked expression, and turned to face the chaos he had brought upon his L’Manburg. Seeing his younger brother’s expression is what finally did it. He took a step closer to Phil. He had seen the glimmering sword on his father’s back, and he knew what needed to happen.
      “Kill me, Dad. Please.”
      Phil couldn’t even look him in the eyes, he knew he had failed his son, and he knew that there was nothing ke could do about it now. So he unsheathed his sword, trying to ignore the feeling of taking away his son’s last life. Standing there, holding his son’s corpse, getting quickly covered in dirt and debris, he knew he had failed as a father. He dropped his son’s limp body to the ground and fled the scene, going back to the place he never should’ve escaped to in the first place. A little while later, his favorite son came home covered in blood, his clothes torn and crown slightly crooked on his head. Techno looked up at his father, only to see him also covered in blood. He quickly glanced over him and determined that it wasn’t his own blood. Before he could even utter the question, his dad shattered his world with one sentence. 
     “It’s Wil’s blood, Techno. He’s gone.”
      Techno swears he blacked out. His twin, his other half, was gone. The one person he should’ve been there for, he wasn’t. And now he was paying the price. Back at what was once L’Manburg, Tommy was lashing out. He didn’t know what to do without his older brother, didn’t know how to cope with the loss. So at first he went to Tubbo, only to realize Tubbo was too busy for him, he had presidential duties to attend to. With a heavy heart, Tommy leaves Tubbo’s office only to bump into someone new in town. Ranboo. Ranboo takes one glance at Tommy and knows he needs someone to talk to. However, Tommy doesn’t want to talk, he wants to wreak havoc on something, anything. He asks Ranboo for some help griefing George’s new vacation home, and Ranboo agrees almost instantly. Together they head to George’s newest property, wrecking the place, and starting a small fire that was completely accidental. It quickly gets out of hand, and before they know it George’s cottage has erupted into flames and suddenly they’re running. They arrive back to the partially rebuilt L’Manburg, and agree to ignore that it had ever happened, both of them happy to at least gained a new friend amidst all the chaos. 
       Meanwhile, Dream stumbles across George’s cottage in flames and immediately starts fuming. He knows exactly who did this, and he knows what he wants to happen to him. He storms into L’Manburg, and starts to silently place obsidian walls around the entire country. Tubbo and his cabinet rush out of the white house as soon as they notice what’s going on. Tubbo questions Dream, only to get a half coherent answer. All he managed to gather was that Tommy fucked up, and he needed to be put on trial for his actions. Once Tubbo finally got a cohesive answer from Dream, he was furious. He asked Tommy to do one thing for him, just one, and he couldn’t even do that. So he and Dream march to find Tommy, all while Fundy and Quackity try to talk Dream out of insisting exile. Tubbo is conflicted. He obviously doesn’t want to exile his best friend, but at the same time, what kind of leader would he be if he let criminals run free and let Dream build the walls?  During Tommy’s trial, Tubbo made the last minute decision to exile Tommy from the nation he once built. Dream forcefully escorted Tommy out of L’Manburg, but not before Tommy could spot the phantom of his favorite brother standing right in front of him. 
     Ghostbur insisted on coming on this “vacation” with Tommy, helping him establish Logsteadshire. Ghostbur didn’t stay long, and he only came to visit every so often. The only person to ever really visit Tommy, was Dream. The green man checked in on Tommy every day, making him put all of his belongings in a pit and blowing them up. The manipulation from Dream mixed with the lack of seeing his friends lead Tommy to the top of this pillar. While he peered down to what could be his doom, he had a sudden realization; Dream wasn’t his friend. He never was. Realizing this had put a pep back into his step, and he took off running, sprinting away from Logsted and never looking back. 
     He eventually came across what he could only assume was his oldest living brother’s home; the place he was abandoned by his father for: the Arctic empire. This was the last place he ever wanted to step foot into, but considering it was dark outside and he had been running for hours, he was just happy to get shelter, no matter where it was. He entered the home, and was immediately hit with the smell of his family. The nostalgia came crashing over him like a bunch of bricks. Taking another look around, he realized he was angry. What was so good about this place anyways? What did this place have that his childhood home didn’t? Was it him, was he what this place didn’t have? Shaking the thoughts from his head, he began rummaging through his brother’s chests. Finding lots of useful materials, and a few just for him, he began looking for a place to burrow for the time being. Settling on the underneath of the house, he got to work making his little hidey-hole. 
     He knew he couldn’t stay hidden forever. He just thought he would have more time than this. As Techno dragged him up the stairs by his ear, he profusely apologized. This was Techno’s first sign. Tommy never apologized. Forcefully sitting him down, he glared at his younger brother. 
     “Gapples. Now.” Techno demanded. 
      He expected a fight. He expected anything but this. As Tommy quickly emptied everything in his pockets all while still muttering apologies, Techno took a good hard look at his little brother. His clothes were torn, his eyebags were darker than Techno had ever seen them, and he looked like he hadn’t eaten in days. Techno decided then and there that he would help Tommy, so long as Tommy helped him.
      And so the brother’s teamed up. They mutually agreed to help each other get what they wanted. Techno agreed to help Tommy get his discs back as long as Tommy helped him commit (minor) terrorism in his old home. They made a plan, and they had it all worked out. Until Tommy came to his senses, and realized just what he agreed to. He backed out of the plans, apologizing to his older brother, moving to stand next to Tubbo. Techno nodded solemnly, and formed an alliance with Dream, Tommy’s number one tormentor, right in front of him. Making a quick getaway, Techno and Dream run back to the empire, planning their reign of terror over L’Manburg while Tommy takes on the leadership role and motivates everyone to fight against them tomorrow.
     Doomsday roles around, and Techno’s here earlier than promised. Phil is here too, Tommy realizes. That hurt him more than he’d like to admit. (He likes to tell himself he isn’t too affected by Phil, but even he knows that’s a lie). He looks above him to see a large obsidian grid, for which he isn’t sure what its purpose is.  Surrounding him is his older brother, spawning wither after wither, laughing maniacally as his hound army relentlessly attacks anyone nearby. Next to Techno is his dad. His father, helping his favorite son destroy what he and Wilbur had worked so hard for. He felt like crying. He didn’t think seeing Phil here, helping Techno decimate L’Manburg could hurt any more than being abandoned did. He was wrong. So, very wrong. Knowing that his dad was here, and actively fighting against him gave him the answers he had always known. He was never Phil’s favorite, he never would be. 
     He’s only snapped out of his haze by the sound of agony-filled screams. He looks around this nation, just to see TNT raining from the obsidian grid. Oh. That’s what that's for. He seems surprisingly calm about this.  His main priority is making sure Tubbo is safe, and once he’s assured that he is, he started going after Techno. When he finally catches up to him, he can only seem to think of one thing. Techno isn’t his brother anymore. 
     “Technoblade, for once in your life just listen to me!” Tommy pleads, but it does no good. Techno just laughs in his face, going on and on about how his intentions were clear, how he was against government, and how he knew this was coming. Tommy realizes then that Techno was never in it to help Tommy, he was never on their side. He was only helping them for his own personal gain. 
     “You’re selfish.” Is the only sentence Tommy can form. He can’t even stand to look at the person he used to call family. He runs to find Tubbo, meeting him on top of the obsidian grid. They share a look that says more than words ever could. Tommy starts,
     “We’ve gotta end it, Tubbo. You and me. Just like it’s always been. We have to kill Dream.” He and Tubbo agree. It started with them, and it’s going to end with them.
     Standing there, peering down at the crater that was once his saving grace, Tommy sees Phil and Techno, bouncing around, seemingly guilt free. Locking eyes with his unremorseful father, Tommy decides then that Phil isn’t his dad. He never was. Techno wasn’t his brother, and Phil was never his dad.

"I'll wait there all night, but please come," Tommy says. Tubbo probably doesn't hear it, but he likes to think they did. When Tubbo is out of sight, he sneaks out of the SMP and crosses onto the Dream SMP. He isn't safe, but the idea that he isn't on enemy territory comforts him. He doesn't take the boardwalk, instead opting to go through the sewers. He hides out in one of his lower rooms and doesn't go up.
If any Manbergian knew he was here, far from Pogtopia, he would be easily defeated and then they'd have a one-up on the rebel SMP. Tommy is thankful that it's Tubbo who knows he's here and no one else. He hopes he can get Tubbo to agree to run away. Tubbo almost brushed him off, seemingly ready to ignore Tommy. The implications of that are frightening. It means Tubbo is beginning to side with Schlatt.
Tommy wouldn't have noticed that before the election, but after losing Tubbo, Tommy began analyzing lots of little things. He noticed more than he ever had before. Tommy began paying attention to body language, learning when to walk on eggshells around Wilbur. He learned when Eret is trying to make herself seem softer so that she doesn't come off as threatening to Pogtopia. Tommy doesn't care that they want to make amends. Eret betrayed L'Manberg. Tommy also learned things about other people, but he focuses on Tubbo. Every time Tubbo tenses their shoulders, or tightens their jaw, or the twitches when their smile is forced— Tommy noticed it all.
Tommy thinks about what it would be like for Tubbo not to need to do any of that anymore. They'll be happy.
"Tommy?" A voice calls out, "Are you here?" It's Tubbo. They sound out of breath so Tommy rushes up quickly. Tubbo looks scared and it seems like they're crying. "T-Tommy, we have to go! They're going to— Schlatt knows we're doing this. I ran here as fast as I could, but you have to leave—"
"Tubbo, it's okay, we'll go, but come with me, please!" Tommy grabs their hand and tugs on it. Tubbo follows, seemingly out of it. Tommy has only seen Tubbo get like this once. It was when they lost all their bees. War took that from Tubbo, huh?
Quickly, the two of them run to Pogtopia, taking many wrong turns because it quickly seems that George is following them. He spots the iconic goggles in the midst of the trees, so he works extra hard to lose them.
Before he makes it all the way to Pogtopia, Tommy stops Tubbo and hides the two of them behind some trees. "Tubbo...? Do you need anything? I'm here, ok, Tubbo, I won't leave you," Tommy says.
Tubbo nods numbly, not really agreeing to anything. Tommy is awkward, not sure what he should be doing. He rubs their arms, whispering as he talks about random things he doesn't think will stress Tubbo out. Eventually Tubbo does snap out of it, their eyes finally able to meet Tommy's (he didn't even notice how difficult it was for Tubbo to even focus). "I can't go back," Tubbo says.
"I hope you won't," Tommy says as he sits beside Tubbo. He runs a hand through his hair and sighs. Tubbo tries to bring their knees up to their chest and Tommy realizes then that they'll need clothes, because a suit is not ideal for runaways. They stayed in silence, but Tommy wished he could play one of his discs and listen to it. He misses that view of the sunset. He doubts he'll ever see it again.
After a bit, Tommy speaks. "Tubbo, do you want to run away with me?"
"I'm not joining Pogtopia?" Tubbo asks.
"You already did, Big T," Tommy chuckles, but there is barely any humor behind it.
"Oh," Tubbo says. Tommy thinks it's like most conversations they had before the election.
"Do you want to run away with me?" Tommy asks again.
"What about Wilbur?"
Tommy stays quiet. So Tubbo repeats the question. When Tommy doesn't answer, Tubbo understands what he means. "Oh."
"Aren't you tired of the fighting? We're losing everything and our enemies keep getting stuff. What's the point?" Tommy says. He looks to Tubbo and hopes Tubbo shares the sentiments.
They do. "I miss being a little kid," Tubbo says, voice cracking as though they're about to cry. Tommy cries first.
"I guess we aren't kids anymore, huh?" He starts sobbing and Tubbo does, too. They stay like that for a while and it's almost daybreak when they stop.
"Where would we go?"
"I don't know. We'll pick a direction and go," Tommy explains.
"Ok."
Tommy stands up with help from Tubbo. They smile sadly with each other before their runaway plans set into motion. Tommy gathers food, narrowly missing Wilbur and Techno, who seem panicked. His absence was definitely noticed. He leaves his not behind on top of a chest and leaves. He's not even out the underground ravine before he hears Wilbur crying.
They go to Eret's castle next, figuring that's the last place Schlatt would think to look for the boys. The two of them break in, hopeful he doesn't find them. But she does, and instantly they offer the boys food. She looks worried, and even more so when the boys accept their offer. Tommy would never accept his help unless the situation was dire. Eret doesn't press the issue, but they do offer the boys a night at the castle and anything else. He provides them with supplies, and she even lets them keep some of her clothes.
When they confess that they are running away, Eret almost attempts to dissuade them. But he knows how much they need this. Eret, regardless, offers Tommy and Tubbo to move in with them.
"My kingdom is separate from the SMPs. If anyone tries to hurt you, that would be an act of war against us," Eret explains. She hopes they agree to his offer, but they decline it.
"Maybe one day," Tubbo says. Tommy nods. He seems reluctant, but it figures. Eret was his last option ever. Eret hopes that, at least, this means that wherever they go, they don't think of him so poorly.
After a couple nights in the castle, Tommy and Tubbo deem themselves well enough to leave and they swear Eret to secrecy. For their own safety, they decide to tell Eret where they're headed. Eret is baffled at the boys' plans. Tommy and Tubbo want to pick a direction, go that way, and never come back. Before nightfall, Eret has made a subtle sign so that they may never forget where the boys went.
"Do you think this is a good idea? Eret is offering us protection..." Tommy asks.
"I think we need this. It was your idea, and your ideas are always good," Tubbo says, doing their best to console Tommy.
And Tommy believes them. He's like a fool, but he isn't.

okay so letters from l'manberg did Not get posted, but let's run west did so! i'm giving that to y'all instead. pounded out ~2.5k words and this is the result for a songfic competition :P

i.
“You know,” Tommy grouses, “I can't see a thing with my hair all in my eyes.” Tubbo just laughs at him, while Niki hides a gentle smile behind her hands.
Jack rolls upright, and the crown of foxgloves tilts dangerously. There's a very dangerous way to how he’s puffing out a chest, a suggestion of I’m about to enter this argument and win and you’re not going to like it.
Eret has a sixth sense for when this trouble starts brewing, it seems. They scoot backwards, minding the cape slung haphazardly over their shoulder, and bump Niki to do the same, out of the line of fire.
“See, this is why short hair is superior. Your hair’s a sanitary hazard- actually, just a hazard all around.”
“You’re a hazard all around,” Tommy snaps back. He pushes the hair out of his eyes- and grumbles as it flops back in. This time, the titters around the group echo louder. Eret has the grace, at least, to hide their laugh behind their hand.
Tommy rounds on the nearest offender; Niki, as it happens, and backpedals as quickly as he starts when he sees the set to her hip. That’s a straight ticket to one of Niki’s I’m not mad, I’m disappointed, really, you can do better lectures and Tubbo still hasn’t let him live down nearly crying after that lecture. She's terrifying, okay? She’s terrifying, and he’s not ashamed to say that. (He’s told her that exactly once; she had laughed gently as she’d drawn a warm loaf of bread out of the furnace. She hadn’t contradicted him, though. So: no thank you.)
Jack is next in his line of fire.
“What’re you laughing at? ‘least I’ve got hair to impress the ladies with- oh, have you seen Tommy Innit’s hairs? luscious, luscious locks, look, healthier than me!”
“The ladies like my hair,” Jack protests. “Makes him right spiffy, they do say, right spiffy and proper; that Tommy Innit looks like a hooligan who’s just crawled out of the woods. Jack Manifold- now that’s a man of esteem and grace.
“Esteem, grace, oh what lovely qualities,” Tommy parrots back in a voice pitched four tones too high. “They look at you and say oh my, where has his honour gone? He’s got none, just a patchy head of fuzz and glasses that look like they’ve just been dug out of the bin-”
“You take that back- these glasses are top of the line-” Jack’s hauling himself up, and Tommy’s squaring his shoulders, and Tubbo’s laughing hard enough to be doubled over in the grass, despite the gentle shove from Niki and the cautious look from Eret. He’ll get to Tubbo next- it’s not like his hair is much better, kept out of his eyes only by sheer force of will.
They get to about three steps within each other when Wilbur's voice cuts through the argument.
“What's all this, then?” Tubbo's still choking down his laughter, and Jack's sputtering something about high tech, and they’re all really being incredibly useless, so Tommy asserts himself as the loudest. (And most correct. Obviously.)
“Jack Manifold is insulting the honour of my hair,” he proclaims, drawing himself up. Chest out, shoulders back, head high- just like they were taught.
Wilbur must notice this, because he musses Tommy’s hair gently, not a minute later. Or maybe it’s to prove a point, because it falls back over his eyes, to Wilbur's laugh. Traitor.
“There's enough here to make a shag carpet, Tommy. I don't know if he’s wrong.”
Tommy folds his arms, and- okay, he doesn’t pout. He just… lets his face settle into something more disgruntled.
“I've had bigger things on my mind. things like incredibly important-” incredibly important wars, he realizes he was going to say, moments before the words spill out of his mouth. There’s a line of tension in Eret’s shoulders where there wasn’t before.
He clamps his mouth shut.
“I’ve just been busy, and so have you, and you’re the only one who knows how to get our trim decently,” he finishes.
Around Wilbur's eyes, the exhaustion softens.
“C’mon, Tommy.” Wilbur gestures to a nearby chair, dragged out to the shade. “Sit down, we’ll trim it up to something more respectable.”
Tommy squints at him. He's not sure if the effect comes across the same way, obscured as it is. Which- may be proving Wilbur’s point. Damn it.
Begrudgingly, he slinks over to the chair of shame, letting his steps fall a bit heavier. Niki pats his knee gently, while Eret calls over to Wilbur. “You might need to do Tubbo’s next. goat boy’s going to start bumping into things.”
“I’ll just go around the circle,'' Wilbur laughs. “We all need a little trim and care.”
Reaching up to poke at the curls hanging around Wilbur's face, Tommy arches an eyebrow. “Are you planning to cut your own hair?”
Wilbur waves a hand, before he takes up his position behind Tommy. His fingers are gentle as he sorts through the long mess, a soft snick echoing as he starts cutting away at it.
It's a familiar sound, and Tommy lets himself relax as Wilbur continues combing through the tangles.
“It’s not the first time I would've done that. I can take care of myself too.”
“Doubtful,” Tommy huffs at the same time as Eret murmurs. “That's what they all say, don’t they?”
Wilbur pauses in his actions. Tommy darts a peek at Eret underneath his hair. Niki and Tubbo, engrossed in their debate with Jack, aren’t paying too much attention, but niki sends a fleeting, if concerned look, their way.
They’re technically not wrong. Wilbur can roll his shoulders back and step with military, practiced precision, and it won’t hide the bruises under his eyes that grow by day.
It won’t hide the ever-lengthening shadows on his face, the ink-stains on his fingers that never seem to wash out.
But if Wilbur says not to worry about it- well. There's already a lot on their plate. He knows what he’s doing.
(Right?)
(Right.)
So Tommy squares his shoulders and grins at Eret. “He's a disaster, isn’t he?”
Eret hardly smiles at that. Niki, Jack, Tubbo- they’re all listening now. Tubbo meets his eyes, and sits up fully, rolling his eyes. Silently, Tommy thanks prime.
“There’s a saying about glass houses,” he begins, and Tommy splutters, retracting any and all thanks.
“Oh, don’t you go pulling out the wise shit on me now- I’ll have you know I’m the best around here at-”
“At raising the disaster rates? Yes, yes you are.”
“You’re lucky I'm stuck on this chair,” Tommy points threateningly at Tubbo. “when I’m off of it-”
Tubbo simply pulls out a sword with the same shit-eating grin. “You’ll give me the beating stick?”
“You’ll wish you had the beating stick.” With that lovely parting line, he sticks out his tongue, only to immediately hiss and spit into the grass to the side. Jack cackles.
“Shouldn’t have opened your mouth while your bird’s nest was getting cut!”
“Oh, you-” Wilbur clamps a hand on Tommy's shoulder. He stills immediately.
“Stop wriggling. Your hair doesn’t need to get any worse.”
Tommy narrows his eyes in Wilbur's general direction, but he does settle down. The tension’s dissipated- somewhat, at least. They should be okay.
(Later, he’ll look back. He’ll wonder what Eret saw before them; he’ll wonder if it was the sleepless nights, or the way that Wilbur shies away from a blade outside of dinners and nights reserved for haircuts. He'll wonder if it’s the ashes of letters that pile, and pile.
He’ll wonder if that’s what scared Eret away, and goaded him into lacing the very ground that they had rolled in a play fight on just days earlier.
When he hears it was never meant to be, he’ll wonder if it was a threat. Later, he’ll understand it was the writing littered on crumbling walls. But for now, they sit, and they laugh, on the home that they built.)
ii.
There is, quite simply put, too much happening.
Tubbo sits to his side, kicking his feet over the ledge; Tommy’s insisted they both sit by a railing to hold onto, one of the few that they’ve diverted Wilbur's attention from.
Below them, the ravine buzzes.
Techno is not in the farm- hasn’t been for a bit, in fact. This is the first they’ve seen him around Pogtopia in days.
He's facing Wilbur, in the far corner. Tommy doesn’t take his eyes off of him, while Tubbo nudges him, attention elsewhere.
“Fundy’s arguing with Quackity in the corner,” he mutters. “Think they know something about the Schlatt situation?”
Tommy spares the two a quick look. Fundy's ears are pinned flat against his head; quackity’s eyes are obscured by his sunglasses, but even his printed smile seems strained.
“Could be worth checking out,” Tubbo presses.
“I’m more worried about whatever those two have going on in the corner,” Tommy says tersely. “Wilbur’s not in his right fucking mind as is- and Techno’s not good fucking company.”
“nobody here is,” Tubbo replies, and doesn’t elaborate.
Which is. just fucking great, honestly. Everybody here is either stressed out of their mind, scared out of their mind, or both. This is fine. This is fine.
He forces out a noisy breath that does nothing to calm his racing heart.
“It won’t matter in a few hours,” Tubbo finally adds. “The waiting’s the worst part.”
Tommy forces the image of Tubbo staring down the crossbow, waiting, out of his head, and folds his arms.
“It’s the aftermath that sucks the most, innit?”
“Not really. By then, it’s happened. You can’t change it. There’s no what-ifs. You just move forward. You can’t move while you’re waiting.”
Can they stop with the fucking metaphors?
He works his jaw free from where he’s clenched it tight enough to crack a tooth.
“Think Schlatt’s going to pussy out of it?”
“No.”
Of course it can’t be that easy.
Tubbo leans back, mindful of the bandages winding up his arms. He keeps an ear tilted towards Tommy.
“It depends on how much we corner him,” he amends.
“If he can run to preserve himself? He will. If it’s a last stand? He’ll take us down with him.”
Plant his feet and lower his head for the charge. Great. Just what they fucking need, with Wilbur ready to plant the button, and a trigger-happy anarchist.
Is this how Wilbur felt? ready to scream ‘til his voice cracked, as it kept piling? Tubbo, as schlatt got louder and angrier?
He hates it, honestly.
“Great. So we don’t give him a chance to do either.”
“Easier said than done.” There’s a thoughtfulness to Tubbo’s voice. “Doable, though. The night of- you didn’t see him. If Wilbur’s a mess… Schlatt’s not better.”
Tommy cuts a sideways look. Tubbo's still staring down, not a single emotion escaping the neutrality he’s plastered across his expression.
They’ve all gotten rather good at their masks. Some more than others.
“Hardly coherent. Passed out on the speech he was writing.”
Making a face, Tommy scoots back to fold his legs upon the ledge as well.
“That place sounded like it reeked. It lingered on you for ages.”
“You get used to it,” Tubbo replies. “You get used to a lot of things.”
Down below, someone’s raised their voice. Judging by the stuttering speech- they both swing to look as Wilbur’s voice bounces off of the walls.
A summons, then.
“Time already?”
“Techno said he had something to show us, before… before.”
Tubbo’s expression doesn’t change. Tommy doesn’t need it to, as he watches Tubbo’s ears carefully press against his head before forcibly relaxing again.
He makes sure he steps first into the vault.
Takes the first step towards Schlatt.
(it still doesn’t matter in the end.
it was never meant to be, a sovereign once said.
Tommy’s beginning to think it was an apology.)
iii.
“You know,” Tubbo says. “This would be L'manberg's last life.” He laughs a little as he says this; Tommy can't bring himself to laugh with him, the words sour on his tongue.
They've always held themselves differently.
Tubbo laughs even as he aches, shrugs it off while he bleeds.
Tommy rages, and he rages loudly. He grieves- though he grieves quieter, holds on to his hurt tight enough to bleed.
They have that in common, he guesses.
“You sound like you're already burying it,” he settles on. Tubbo slants a sideways look at him. The fringe of hair curling around his face isn't obscuring his eyes yet; Tommy catches every sharp thought flicking through Tubbo's eyes, and a few that he doesn't know how to read yet.
(This concept of unfamiliarity sits awkwardly in his hands; he's not sure how to hold its weight, so he sets it aside. He can't help but pick at the splinters that it leaves behind.)
“I'm preparing to,” he says simply. He doesn't have to say why. The angel's shadow hangs heavy on their doorstep. So efficient. So practiced. The memory of building their country's coffin lies engraved in their muscles. They sing its funeral hymn in their sleep.
“You're killing it before it's had a chance.”
Tubbo doesn't answer.
A whetstone passes over the sword glittering in his lap once, then twice more. Tommy turns back towards the grid hanging over them.
“Like Schlatt? Or like Wilbur?” Tommy flinches, unexpectedness slamming bodily into shame, a full-body reaction that unbalances him from where he's kicking his feet over the dock's edge; he pulls himself back.
Out of neglect, or out of fear? Do you think it’s because I never understood what L'manberg stood for to us, not like you did? Or because I was too afraid to hope, and look what that did to us, Tubbo doesn't say- or maybe Tommy's just filling in the blanks with fear and a memory of two exiles.
Maybe Tubbo really does just sound tired. Maybe they're all just tired. He swallows hard, and this time reaches out first, to bump Tubbo on the shoulder.
He forces out a breath, and forces them out of his head.
“You were better than either of those two bastards ever were.” Tubbo only raises an eyebrow at him.
He doesn't argue, though, and so they sit. Axe at Tommy's side, sword in Tubbo's hands.
At midnight, the angel's- the blood god's- the smiling god's- hounds bay, a resounding death knell. At midnight, the angel's wings darken their skies.
“It’s not- it’s not dawn,” Tommy shouts to empty air. Around them, the streets murmur, crescendoing to a wail as a wither, then another, then another barrels through their streets. “It’s too early! This isn’t fair!”
It’s too early.
They hadn’t said good-bye.
“This is war, Tommy,” the skies tell him. (At least they graced him with a reply, the tone suggests.) “War isn’t fair.”
None of this is fair. None of it was meant to be, none of it will be.
At dawn, the sun finds them at the bottom of L'manberg's grave.
(What do you do with a country taking its last breath?
You bury it where it can’t hurt.)

Broken Horns and Broken Hearts Chapter 8

Tubbo had collapsed into bed only a few moments before, but the next the boy knew, he was sitting in yet another meeting, with the rest of the cabinet casting him slightly strange looks as they argued.
He internally panicked, scouring his brain for any memories of getting up, or even walking to the meeting - but there was nothing. A quick check of his timetable confirmed that he’d only lost a few hours this time, instead of two whole days, but that didn’t make it any less terrifying. Where were these sudden gaps in his memory coming from? And why was Quackity staring at him like he’d grown a second head? He shook it off as nothing, perhaps their confrontation last night.
The meeting was followed by another speech, where Schlatt announced a festival to be held in a week, the organising of which was probably going to be delegated to Tubbo on top of the rest. The teen scanned the cityline in boredom, and he was pleasantly surprised to see Wilbur duck behind a parapet. Thankfully, the ex-president couldn’t see him - specifically his horns - from where he stood next to Quackity, but he took a small step back anyway to make sure. Remembering the conversation he had with Tommy yesterday, Tubbo made a mental note to write down the ambush plans they’d discussed earlier and deliver it to the hidden chest.
The gaps in his memory became more frequent as the festival drew near, but Tubbo somehow managed to keep his act together, ignoring the strange looks he got as his horns grew and his patience diminished. The teen also ignored the way his friends talked about him behind his back, denouncing him just because of Schlatt. He simply pretended not to hear the hurt remarks about his grumpiness.

Tommy slashed wildly with a stone blade, shards of granite screeching off the wall, and he heard Techno chuckle condescendingly from behind. The teen spun around in irritated tiredness to snap at his older brother.
“At least I’m preparing and not just farming fuckin’ potatoes for three hours straight, dipshit!”
The mocking smile on Techno’s face widened.
“The thing is, Tommy, I don’t need the training - you clearly do.”
“Oh, shut up. Stupid pig bastard.”
Tommy glanced worriedly upwards towards the ravine entrance, where Wilbur stood, currently fucking up his sleep schedule even more. The pig followed his gaze and raised an eyebrow, silently judging his hypocrisy, but Tommy ignored the hint and went back to attempting to massacre the granite wall. L’Mandog could look after Wilbur. They had a war to fight, and if The Blade was going to slack off, well. Then it was down to Tommy to carry their rebellion, wasn’t it?
3 bites of a baked potato later, Techno was back in his farm, both him and Tommy trying their best to pretend each other didn’t exist.
Strangely, it didn’t work.
Eventually, Tommy gave the wall a break and swapped his stone sword out for iron, strapping the bare blade to his hip.
“I’m gonna go check the notebook chest!”
The teen called to Techno, trying not to disturb Wilbur in his moonstruck reverie as he left. Despite his efforts, Tommy felt his brother’s eyes on his back as he crept through the undergrowth.
A few hasty ducks and desperate, pleading headshakes at Niki later, the teen made it to the hillside underneath the prime path that hid the chest. For a split second, he thought he saw a flash of black - Tubbo, maybe? - dash around the corner, but it was gone before he could call out to whoever it was.
A quick glance in ‘the mailbox’ (as Techno called it) revealed the notebook they'd been writing correspondences in, but thrown hastily down on its front, bending the spine. The messy placement was at odds with how it normally lay when it was Tubbo’s turn, but the teen didn’t think much of it other than a muttered curse at the dictator who was keeping his best friend busy doing everything that Schlatt should have been doing.
Tommy skimmed through the rushed explanation of the festival’s weaknesses and snapped a picture of the map Tubbo had painstakingly sketched of the proposed layout. They’d agreed not to use names in the book in case one of them was caught with it, so Tommy just scribbled ‘Thx bitch, hang in there’ on the next page and replaced the book.
For a moment, he entertained the crazy idea of abducting Tubbo so he wouldn’t have to deal with the drunken tyrant, but the thought was soon brushed off due to its impossible nature. Plus, who would be their spy then? Will tried to get in contact with Fundy, but was left on read - the fox was still seemingly bitter about losing the election, even if he did cheat.
After a wistful glance at the half-broken walls, Tommy shoved his communicator back in his pocket, took a step back and fell into a creeper hole.
“Fuck!”

It wasn’t long until Tommy came back from the mailbox, but it was 11:30 at night, so Techno once again tried to convince Wilbur to come into the relatively warmer Pogtopia. The ex-president was mumbling a steady stream of nonsense (which was slightly concerning, to say the least) but it wasn’t exactly a strange occurrence.
“Wilbur? Will?”
No response.
“I’ll make you stew if you come in.”
Food usually got the attention of his siblings, especially Tommy, but still Wilbur ignored him. With a sigh, Techno gave up and went back to his farm, giving L’Mandog a pat on the head as he turned away. It wasn’t the best result, but at least he tried, right?
Casting his memory back, the piglin couldn’t remember Tommy eating that day either, so he pulled a cauldron on top of the campfire anyway, letting the water boil while he rummaged in the chests for some steak. Cutting the meat into small cubes, he threw it into the pot alongside some salt and half a clove of chopped garlic. While the pot simmered, Techno sat cross-legged on the ground next to it and got to peeling and chopping some of the potatoes he’d farmed, throwing the peel in a nearby bucket. It didn’t take long for Tommy to come barreling down the narrow stairs, an ecstatic look on his face as he sniffed the air.
“It’ll be ready in a bit.” Techno grunted at him, ignoring his excited yell.
“Do me a favour and get Wilbur.”
The teen raised an eyebrow at him.
“Bet you already tried.”
The piglin glared at him, and Tommy raised his hands in surrender.
“Okay okay, I’m going!”

The festival date was set. Planning was under way. All the information had been leaked to the rebels - and yet Tubbo couldn’t help but feel he was missing something important. The feeling was so urgent, he’d checked off lists a million times and gone over everything with Quackity a million-and-one, and it still hadn’t gone away. That, combined with the memory gaps, bleeding horns, and the alcoholic president, weighed on him more heavily than he’d admit. Sleep was a rare luxury, not a necessity. Fundy took every opportunity he had to glare menacingly at him, and even the recently-released Niki kept her distance. It hurt, to be so isolated from these people he’d fought beside for months, but there was no time for moping. There was barely even time for breathing.
“Tubbo! Get me a coffee!”
“Yes, Mr. Schlatt!”
As he sped down the hall, clipboard and a stack of papers in hand, Quackity called him from outside. He set the papers down on the hallway table and stuck his head out the door.
“What?!”
Big Q motioned towards the square, where a large hole sat in the centre of the seating.
“A creeper blew up the square, can you fix it?”
“Yeah, just-” “TUBBO! COFFEE!”
The teen bit his lip and gestured awkwardly over his shoulder.
“I gotta go-”
Without waiting for a response, he dashed back to the small break area where the coffee maker was kept. He set it going before rushing to collect the stack of forms left on the table. While the coffee brewed, he read through as many as he could. This was the usual routine - multitasking, never taking more than a second’s break, trying to stay on Schlatt’s good side - and he’d gotten used to it. As Tubbo grabbed a stack of cobble from his chest, a message buzzed through his communicator. Cobble in one hand, communicator in the other, he typed a reply in snatches, mostly looking forward as he hurried towards the creeper hole.
TommyInnit whispered to you: Tubso
You whispered to TommyInnit: What?
TommyInnit whispered to you: I need you
He sighed angrily.
You whispered to TommyInnit: tf do you want???? m busy!!!!!
TommyInnit whispered to you: is schlatt being a dick again? We need more info on the festical
You whispered to TommyInnit: well im actually doing stuf unlike some ppl!!!!! TommyInnit whispered to you: ???? u good?
You whispered to TommyInnit: lok i dont have the time!! get yor own fuckin informton!
Another message pinged through but Tubbo ignored it, shoving the little black box back in his pocket and continuing with his tasks. The next thing he knew, it was the middle of the night, moonlight streaming through the window of his room. A slight jolt of nausea accompanied the sudden change in his surroundings, but the teen shrugged it off. It was routine, after all. It was a struggle to pull his pyjama top over his head, as his horns grew bigger every day. Surely they’ll stop growing at some point. The sharp points protruded about a centimetre past his chin, and were a lot thicker than before. Succumbing to his exhaustion, Tubbo let out an ear-shattering yawn and fell into bed, digging his nails into the itchy skin around the base of the horns. A jolt of pain made him yelp, and something warm trickled down his hand.
Blood.
Note to self: Invest in bandages for these things!

mcyt rewrite
not a trailer, but a bit of a teaser for a future rewrite fic future chapters to come., ficlet under the cut c:
“You can’t be serious.” 
His posture tenses upon hearing the others words, his tone cynical as he speaks with words exuding disbelief. His accent is harsh, as harsh as the steady gazes he fixes on him— hues of light brown staring into the shadowed crevasses of where the anarchists eyes are hiding. 
They stay fixated upon the waxen bone, shadowed hues of the skeletal mask is all that stares back. Unable to see if he roused a true reaction, Wilbur throws his hands into the air in a sporadic motion. He seethes, breaking their stare as his fingers lift to tangle angrily into the dark curls of his hair, appearing darker than normal in the low lighting of the ravine. 
“I will repeat myself,” he starts with trepidation, “you can’t be serious about this.” 
Finally movement, the anarchists body shifts and he frowns beneath the mask he wears. He can read Wilbur so clearly, his movements hindering on unhinged, wild gestures only solidifying the mans thoughts. The way Wilbur is processing this news, it only disappoints him. 
“You can’t just fucking leave! We’re so close, can’t you see? Can’t both of you see?” 
Wilbur’s tone only quickens with agitation ad he takes steps towards the other, suspicion swelling in his mind. 
Ever so obvious in his eyes and movements, he’s too easy to read. 
Techno only watches in silence with an almost tired crease to his posture, exhaustion lingering closely to his body. So much effort is going to waste due to the ramblings of a mad man, and he’s disappointed that he hadn’t seen how far it’s gotten. 
Silence hangs between the two of them, even in such a large ravine like this, it’s so quiet— as though the world is waiting for their interaction to end. 
“So this is how it is? I should have known-“
Laughter rings out, echoing throughout the high slanting walls. It sounds cruel, disorienting as the caves throw it back and forth before it settles. Something glints in Wilbur’s gaze, there’s a subtle shake of his head, and then his steps advance on Techno. A hand reaches out dangerously close before it shoves against Techno with an uneasy force. 
Only a small sound of the impact resounds, the anarchist taking a small step back but doing nothing more to provoke the other— yet. 
“I should have fucking known! I knew I never should have trusted you,” the deranged man shakes his head, “you’re just like every other lowlife out there.” He gestures widely around them, “you and that- that blind child. Both of you, both of you can get caught in the explosion for all I care! I should’ve ki—“ 
He’s promptly cut off by a firm hand reaching out, deft fingers wrapping around the expanse of his neck in one quick movement. Brown eyes widen in shock, hands shooting up to grip Techno’s wrist. 
“Don’t.” 
A small word spoken with so much meaning, the force behind it nearly suffocating Wilbur. Brown stares to black, torchlight glaring off of the clear cream white of the mask in an eerie setting. 
“That child, as daft as he may be, will not be a casualty of your suicide mission. Neither of them will be.” 
Ah, Techno sighs to himself as gazes of blue teeter in the corner of his mind. Haystack hued hair, toothy grins, brazen attitudes. 
He should have never let himself get so attached to the two of them. Children who stuck close to him in battles, who train relentlessly against him, who joke and fawn with him. Such good spirits, ones that will get them killed if they continues to follow such a blind guide. 
Techno has seen too many like them die for their ideals, has gone up against many who believed they were worth something because they fought for it. 
“Tommy nor Tubbo will not die because of you. I’ll stand back for now, but the moment you slip up, when I think their lives are in danger because of you, I’ll make sure you never see the light of day again. These walls will be painted with what’s left of you.” 
When did he even get so attached to them? When did he start thinking of others over himself? 
“You’re no different from the man you’re trying to kill.” 
Standing ever so still he finally releases the other, the male stumbling to his knees as he sucks in generous amounts of cold air. 
“I don’t want to kill you Wilbur, but I will if I need to.” 
He doesn’t give the other enough time to respond before he turns and walks up the cobble stairs of the ravine. He can just barely hear hoarse cries of his name when he makes it to the top.

Chapter 4: Together Again and Falling Apart
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3
Wilbur stood frozen at the bottom of the steps as he stared at the newcomer. His eyes locked onto the mask shifted to the left of Techno’s face. It was an intricately carved boar’s skull complete with sharp tusks and menacing dark pits for eyes. It was truly fit for the man who’d earned the title ‘Blood God’. It fit the stranger in front of him that Wilbur used to call his twin.
He felt like he was caught in an unspoken competition. Whoever made the first move would lose. Looking at Technoblade, he could tell that they both were waiting for the other to speak so that they could gauge their reaction. 
Techno slowly turned the rest of the way around to completely face Wilbur and put a hand on his hip. He let out a quiet sigh and said with as much casualty as he could muster, “Hey there, Wilbur.” Techno’s monotone voice hadn’t changed at all since the last time they’d spoken. Wilbur could almost let himself melt into the comfort of its familiarity, if not for how they’d left things.
He quickly stuffed his beanie into one of his coat pockets and ran a hand through his hair in a vain attempt to look far more put together than he felt. He tried to persuade his muscles to relax as well. He could handle this… new development. 
“Technoblade,” Wilbur clipped. He squared his shoulders and folded his arms behind his back as he looked down at his brothers. “I wasn’t aware you were coming to visit.” He let an easy smile find its way onto his face, although it failed to reach his eyes. His eyes were like ice in their cold and clinical formality.
Techno choked out an awkward laugh, betraying his discomfort of the situation. “Yeah, well I-”
“It’s a shame you came all this way for nothing though.” Wilbur raised his voice to speak over Techno. He began making his way closer to the two on the other side of the hallway. When he was halfway to them, he continued, “As you can see, we’ve been doing perfectly fine without you here to watch over us.”
Techno fixed him with a skeptical look. Wilbur merely laughed at it. “Yes, yes, I know. Tommy and I have hit a bit of… an obstacle. But we’ve gotten through worse already, and we did it without your help.” He waved his hands about in a way that commanded their attention. He held the stage, and he’d be damned if he let either of them forget that.
He clapped his hands together and switched his gaze over to Tommy. “In fact, I was just about to talk to you about a new plan in the works. I’ll need you to contact Tubbo soon. I need to speak with him privately outside of L’manburg.” Wilbur hadn’t thought he’d agree to Dream’s plan so soon or even at all, but he knew that if he didn’t prove that he had a plan, Techno would try to lead them instead. Wilbur couldn’t bear the thought of that.
It was then that Tommy finally spoke up, “Tubbo? But isn’t he supposed to be, ya know, hunting us down?” He could see through Tommy’s failed attempt to cover up the fear he felt but decided not to comment on it. Rather he’d do the thing big brothers were supposed to do and reassure him.
“It’s alright, Toms. If you meet with him alone at night, Schlatt won’t have to know Tubbo ever even saw you. He’s only trying to find us because it would look bad for him if he didn’t. You two are practically brothers. You know he’d never hurt you.” Wilbur couldn’t help the smirk that played on his lips as he saw the barely concealed flinch from Techno at the last two sentences.
Tommy muttered an “alright” but still looked uneasy. It was clear that he hadn’t been expecting this when he had called for Techno. He looked up at Techno and saw Techno looking back down at him with something resembling concern.
Techno turned back towards Wilbur again who had gone over to one of the chests. “Wilbur, I’m staying. I came all this way, and I plan on helpin’ the two of you out while I’m here.” 
Wilbur’s shoulders tensed up. He should’ve expected that Techno wouldn’t listen to him. “And who said you were allowed to do that? I’m fairly certain I’ve made it clear that we don’t want-”
“I called him here, Wil.” Tommy’s voice was steady. It held a defiant tone that dared anyone to start a fight with him. Wilbur sighed. He knew that when Tommy used that voice it meant he was dead set on something, and he’d be hard pressed to talk him out of it.
“Fine, then, Tommy. You’ll be in charge of him, though. You wanted his help, well now you’ve got it. But don’t be surprised if he gets bored halfway through and decides it isn’t worth the effort anymore.” Wilbur hissed. It was becoming more and more difficult to keep his anger in check as it froze his very veins.
He brushed past his twin, not caring how his shoulder rammed into the other’s. He stopped after a step and looked back over his shoulder. “Enjoy your stay, Technoblade. Oh, and take this. It gets rather cold down here.” He tossed his beanie lazily at him and narrowed his eyes. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a rebellion to win.”
Techno and Tommy could only watch as Wilbur stepped out of the light of the torches and into the shadows of the ravine.

Techno grasped at the fabric of the beanie in his hands. He remembered it. It was his gift to Wilbur on their first birthday spent with Phil. It was the first thing they owned that they didn’t have to steal. Wilbur was always cold, back then. Techno wondered if he still was.
Techno slipped the hat in between his hip and the belt that held his scabbard, making sure it was secure enough to not fall out unnoticed. He didn’t want to think about the implications of Wilbur being able to so carelessly give it away, especially when Techno had never known him to be careless with anything.
Instead he glanced over at Tommy who looked deep in thought. Techno hadn’t seen either of his brothers in years, but he knew that the kid was smart. He hid it behind bold moves and humor. Techno could practically see the gears turning in his head, calculating the risk of following Wil’s orders and seeing this Tubbo guy. 
He took a breath in to ask him about it, but Tommy suddenly turned to him first. A big grin of false bravado was splayed across his face. “Well, you heard the man! I’m in charge! You’re my bitch, bitch!” He darted down and poked Techno in the side. “Come on, then. Wil’s probably gone mining, so we can start on… on, uh. Tech, I’m gonna level with you, man. I don’t know what we’re supposed to be doing. I’ve just been mining out rooms and shit this whole time.”
Techno raised an eyebrow. “I thought you and Wil already fought in a rebellion before.”
“We did! And we won! All thanks to me of course, but well… Wilbur and Tubbo were the ones that handled the supplies and shit. I did the fighting.” Tommy puffed out his chest.
Techno huffed a bit and walked over to the few chests he saw over to the side. He rifled through them and was disappointed with how little they actually had. He glanced back at Tommy and saw the boy rocking back and forth on his feet, looking anywhere but at him. Techno called to him, “Fine. I guess I can get started on makin’ a farm. You guys are really low on food, and that’s gonna be important in the long run.”
He heard Tommy groan behind him in annoyance, “But Tech, that’s gonna be so fucking boring! Shouldn’t we be, I don’t know, going to the nether and getting gear?” Techno got up from his place at the chests and walked over to Tommy. He put a hand on top of the boy’s head and pushed down, ruffling his hair while he was at it. 
“Tommy, don’t you know I’ve won wars with only food before?” Techno laughed as the younger smacked at the hand on his head.
“You bullied a kid by spending months just farming potatoes. Not sure that counts, big man,” Tommy deadpanned.
“It 100% counts. It was a long and arduous war. There were many times where I didn’t think I’d make it out of the battle alive. But as you well know, Technoblade never dies!” Techno let go of Tommy’s head and beat a fist against his chest. Tommy got a kick out of his theatrics. Techno wrapped an arm around Tommy’s shoulders and led him to one of the hollowed out rooms he’d seen earlier. “C’mon. I’ll show you how to get an underground farm started.”
“Please tell me we aren’t gonna plant-”
“We’re farmin’ potatoes.”
Tommy groaned again, “Fine, but if Wil asks, I told you to do this. I’m in charge, you know.”
Techno laughed again and smiled somewhat fondly at his kid brother. “Yeah, whatever you gremlin.” He cast one last glance to where Wilbur had disappeared to before ducking inside the soon-to-be farm. It may not have been the reunion he’d been hoping for, but if he could keep Tommy laughing and in one piece, he had to be doing something right.

As soon as he was sure he was out of sight, Wilbur leaned hard against the wall and clawed at his shirt. “Fuck, fuck. Why now? Why did he have to show up now of all times?” Wilbur clenched his fist against the wall. He was finally getting a plan together, and of course someone had to waltz right in and throw a wrench in it. 
Wilbur took a deep breath and slowly let both of his hands relax. Letting panic rule his mind would get him nowhere, and he couldn’t afford to stop moving forwards. Techno was here, and if he knew anything about his brother, he’d be stubborn about this and provide aid. That could be useful.
Techno was known for his ability to get the best gear and enchantments. Even if he wasn’t, having the Blood God on their side would do wonders as an intimidation tactic. Wilbur could work with this. But was the advantage worth the mental strain he’d have to endure seeing Techno’s face everyday?
“I gotta say I’m surprised. I didn’t think you’d have such an ace up your sleeve so early in the game.” A familiar voice echoed through darkness. Wilbur whipped his head up to find its source and gazed upon none other than Dream.
“How the hell did you get down here?” Wilbur hissed. His eyes darted back towards the hallway where he left his brothers. “I thought we agreed to keep our partnership a secret. Which part of walking right in sounds secretive to you?”
Dream crossed his arms and fixed Wilbur with a hard stare. “It’s called a pickaxe, Soot. I can make my own entrance instead of going through yours. I’m not an idiot.” 
Wilbur ran a hand through his already tousled hair. “Right, right. Sorry. As you can see, I’m a bit on edge, and the last thing I need is more surprises.” He stood up straight and mentally dusted himself off. He raised an eyebrow at his ally, “What are you even doing here? I saw you not even an hour ago.”
“I heard you had a new player in the field. Wanted to come see for myself.” Dream picked at his nails. Wilbur nodded, but said nothing more. Dream picked up on the hesitation, though. “Here I was thinking that having someone strong on your side would be a good thing. Having doubts?”
“I’m just not sure that the pros of having him here outweigh the cons. He’s a talented fighter, sure, but he’s not exactly… reliable.” Bitterness invaded his tone as he thought back to broken promises and shattered bonds.
Before he could spiral too far, however, Dream’s voice cut through his cluttered consciousness, “That doesn’t have to be a problem. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but war isn’t a place where loyalty is a priority. You use what you’ve got at your disposal and go from there. Right now, you’ve got Technoblade. So use that.”
Wilbur turned away from Dream. He was right. It hurt, but he was right. He didn’t have to trust Techno. He didn’t have to form any sort of attachment. Attachment was what hurt him during the first war. Attachment was what hurt him when his old friend stole his country away from him. Attachment was what hurt him when his son tore down the walls and burned the flag. It was time Wilbur finally learned from his mistakes. 
He turned his head back towards Dream. A confident smile placed itself on his face. He could work with this. “Alright, Dream. I believe I’m open to suggestions on how best to do that.” An agreement passed between the two of them. They were setting the board, gathering their chess pieces, and Wilbur didn’t plan on losing.

How to Build an Empire
ello loves, here is the writing i’ve been teasing. it’s not very plot oriented (more of like a summary of certain events if that makes sense. idk just... read it and you’ll see what i mean). it’s just loosely edited because if i stare at something i do too much i will scream <3 also it’s quite long. enjoy:3
Six months and twenty-two days they have been underground or at least that’s what the tallies carved into the wall read. Six months and twenty-two days since they lost everything; everything they built from the ground up. Wilbur could still remember how the cotton of his shirt stuck to him (before he had to cut it up for bandages), as the sun poured down on him while he watched his son tear down everything he created. A few iron picks and a few hours was all it took to destroy everything they had worked for. The fear in Tubbo’s eyes as he received a heavy pat on the back, his new rank already weighing heavy on his shoulders, haunted all of their dreams. Months later, and the ghost of that hand would still be with him. 
Six months and twenty-two days since his feet bled and cried out in pain, running for miles and miles as they were chased with crossbows and swords, their heads wanted on a silver platter just in time for dinner. If he had gotten everything he wanted, he would’ve personally made sure both of their heads were stuck to each end of his horns, displaying his trophies.
Miles on top of miles they ran. Going from biome to biome to escape them, hiding behind logs and camouflaging with the leaves. The panic he felt when he thought he had lost Tommy while trudging through the Taiga was something he never wanted to experience again- how his heart completely dropped into his stomach like a boulder when his ears rang upon hearing his words.
“My first decree as the president of L’manberg, the emperor of this great country, is to revoke the citizenship of Wilbur Soot and TommyInnit.”
But that was six months and twenty-two days ago. Never again did Tommy have to worry about tripping over his laces as he ran through the tunnel of purple wood. He would never get to walk across the wooden path to his hole in the wall home. His rollercoaster would remain out of business, the tracks slowly rusting. Twigs and sticks wouldn’t scrape his legs as he ran to hide from the hunters, Techno breathing heavy as his side. The baby blue color of his eyes had fallen down, just like the country’s walls and the day’s light. The bright eyed kid he used to be was trapped under the impenetrable shell that the hardships of war had created. He banged and cried out underneath to come out, but still it remained with nothing but a scratch on it.
Six months and twenty-two days spent in their new home. Every day they spent doing all they could to survive. It had started as just a room in a hill, hidden away from the naked eye. A banner behind the door to avoid anyone seeing the light that would emit from the furnaces and torches. 
The three of them remembered the first night very clearly. They were curled up in the corner of the square room, the only light coming from out the door- the moon was shining through. Huddled together underneath Techno’s robe they sat in silence, waiting for someone, anyone, to take the risk and speak. The cheeks of Wilbur were dried with tears and Techno’s scattered with dirt. Tommy silently cried and prayed the tears would stop, but they hadn’t. As soon as they ducked in the mountain and his heavy breathing had stopped, the tears had started. He had lost all he had ever known. Not only was the country he helped build being taken over by a dictator disguised as a president, he had lost his best friend to this creature, nay monster. What hurt the most was that it was all his fault- he had pushed to allow him back onto the lands. And here he was, exiled from all he had ever known and stuck in a cave with a depressed ex-president and someone who had just entered, solely to help them. 
“We need to reestablish ourselves.” Wilbur finally spoke, his voice hoarse from dehydration and exhaustion. 
“This is our home now. We have to accept that.” He says again, his dark eyes look over to Techno and Tommy, the only way they could see the pleading look was because of the moon above.
Tommy’s palms swipe away the tears from his cheeks and he gives a small sniffle before deciding to speak.
“How do we do that, Wilbur? I mean all we have is some iron armor and tools, Technoblade, and a skeleton horse that I stole. We lost everything, we even lost Tubbo.” His voice was drenched with despair and hopelessness and went down to a barely audible whisper at the mention of his best friend.
“You've seen me fucking build a nation, Tommy, I'll do it again.” His voice pierced them directly in the chest like the arrows they narrowly escaped from had tried to just hours before. 
They quickly grew out of this room and had to move deeper underground, not only for expansion but for safety. It wasn’t hard to get a layout, for as soon as they started mining they almost immediately hit the ravine. Techno called out to be careful as the stone fell dozens of blocks down, only then did he realize it was safe when he heard the splash of the rock in water. 
And so this is where they would be forced to stay, hundreds of blocks below ground. They stayed at the top of the ravine, gathering the easily accessible iron and coal, gathering around the furnace for warmth while they sat on the cold stone. For a while the biggest debate was whether or not to use their uniform jackets as pillows or blankets for the night. Empty stomachs were common and the taste of rotten flesh was something that was acquired. 
The food status was what almost broke them. Days on end their stomachs whined and groaned at the lack of subsistence, and curling in disgust when their cries were listened to- only to be met with the rancid taste of rotten flesh. Occasionally they’d crack out one of the carrots they smuggled, but those were low and they had to preserve them as long as they could, especially if they had hoped to somehow regrow them. 
Techno still recalls the way he fell to his knees in tears when he found a minecart. He tore open the chest with such force and what was in it made him yelp out in joy- melons. Three melons sat in the chest. Screw the saddle and diamond, three melons just sitting there, untouched and uneaten. Suddenly the fatigue he had felt for the last week had disappeared, and he swept everything from the chest in one foul swoop before sprinting back to his two partners in crime. 
His always steady hands haven’t stopped shaking since he ran at Tommy’s side in the middle of the woods, away from a man in full netherite and an enchanted crossbow. His head, always held up straight and strong on his head, dangled down, its eyes always on the lookout. It was a new experience for him, to live in constant terror and to be taken off the throne he was so used to living on. Kicked down onto his knees with tears welled up in his eyes, the once fearless leader had to accept what he had become; he had become a man of fear, consumed by it’s slick, fingers, carrying his around like a puppet on strings
Three melons, enough for each of them to all have one. Techno thought that the sweet and juicy taste was only a dream that his tongue had handcrafted for him to escape the acerbic and sharp taste of the flesh. But as he held the slices in his hand, he had realized that his tongue had not mistaken him because his eyes were staring right at the pink flesh. His fingertips could feel how smooth the green rind was. So, they sat in silence and slowly ate the watermelon, the slight sweetness was enough to melt them. One by one they took methodical bites, trying their best to make it last as long as possible. Although there wasn’t a lot of flavor, compared to the previous meal of undead meat, this was five stars. Wilbur swatted Tommy as he saw the boy take quick small nibbles.
“If you eat it too fast you’ll get sick, that’s the last thing we need.” He looked at the boy and his sunken cheeks that the malnourishment has caused and his heart began to crack. His skin, already pale, had gotten even lighter from the lack of sun. The darkness that took over his eyes made him seem dead. He looked as if he was going to shed his skin and become one of the skeletons they had to avoid in the cave. As much as he wanted to flick Tommy and poke jabs at the boy, he was just a kid, just a kid who didn’t deserve to be living like this. None of them deserved it, but to watch his young spirit and commitment to L’Manberg slowly fade and betray him, it made him ache. 
Techno was the one who proposed a farm. However, a farm meant going deeper into the ravine, something that was a scary unknown. They needed the water source for the watermelon seeds, and Techno calculated that with how many zombies they had killed, they should be getting a potato from them any time soon. The carrots they had smuggled when first exiled were close to becoming completely moldy and un-replantable. 
It was a tedious and daunting task getting deeper into the ravine. As much as they knew that there was water below them, they couldn’t be sure how deep the water was or what could be lurking beneath the surface. Carefully Wilbur mined while Techno was behind him, sword in hand, ready to attack anything that might come out. Tommy carried the caboose, trying his damndest to not let his hands shake their only light source around too much. 
And their system worked, Wilbur mined, Techno guarded, and Tommy reminded them that despite each other being all they had, punting the kid down into the water didn’t seem like such a bad idea. It was a long process to get down, it took them a couple nights. The sweet taste of the watermelon was only enough to keep them in high spirits for a couple days, until the small seeds in their pockets just began a constant taunt and tease of what they would only ever have once. 
But as they had done once before, they had done again and Pogtopia was becoming a reality. Carrots and watermelon seeds were sowed into the ground, small green tips peeking out of the ground and instead of everything being in overflowing, disorganized chests, their supplies were relocated to a naturally occurring, carved out cover perfect for lots of organized chests. When a couple days had gone by with absolutely no food, because none of the fruit or vegetables were ready for harvest and no rotten flesh was to be found or gathered, Techno and Wilbur had decided to brave the outside world to gather seeds and prayed that there would be some fish in the nearby sea. 
They snuck out in the pitch black night, the few stars above were the only light they had. Carefully they trudged through the terrain, quietly they broke random pieces of grass, cautious to avoid leaving a large dry spot to avoid detection. Armed with nothing but fishing poles and iron swords, they tip toed until their sore feet sunk into the grainy land and they could smell the saltwater. Tommy, alone in the cave, curled up in the pile of grass and closed his eyes. He was so hungry and sore and tired. Never in his life had he ever experienced these feelings at such an intensity, and it was getting to him. There wasn’t a day where he didn’t miss the banters with Tubbo or the nights spent sharing a steak while they planned for the future of L’manberg. How foolish he was to think that could last he thought. He tried not to beat himself up over it, for he was just a child, but he had taken this larger than life role, and he should've known. 
Wilbur carefully swung the pole and it’s tip landed in the water with a slight plop. He sat there and waited for anything to take a bite, whether a minnow or a giant tuna, he was desperate. Techno’s eyes scanned all the terrain around him, keeping watch that no one was near while Tubbo’s eyes kept darting all around the wooden room. From Niki, to the windows, to the door, to the fabric, and back to Niki, they couldn’t stay in one place for long. The oak wood walls almost felt like they were closing in on him, but he knew they weren’t because every time he had come back here he had felt the same claustrophobic feeling and every time he left, still being able to breathe. His leg bounced and Niki noticed.
“If you keep acting so on edge, Schlatt’s going to notice.” Her hands moved delicately as she weaved a needle with thread in and out of the fabric before she finished the last of the stitches. She carefully folded the last creation and added it to the bag with the other two. 
Three wool blankets, colored pink, blue, and red. As soon as she heard that they were underground, Niki knew she had to give them some sort of comfort item, knowing how cold it can get when you’re below the surface. When Tubbo had told her he was in cahoots with them, she was worried what would not only happen to them, but to Tubbo. If Schlatt finds out...she didn’t even want to think about what could happen, knowing what he was capable of. 
So she worked in silence alongside Tubbo. He would go over and drop off supplies, such as bread or wood when they ran low. Niki would help provide these along with an alibi for Tubbo because if one were to ask he had taken a sudden interest in baking and working for her at the bakery. 
“I can’t help it.” Tubbo takes the bag from Niki and is about to run out before he’s stopped. 
“Here, give them this as well.” She hands him a tin box of bread and multiple chops of mutton wrapped in paper and tied with twine that was itself tied to be a bow.
“Thank you, Niki.” He shoved them into the bag and left the bakery, careful to sneak out the back exit. 
He ran. He ran because his life depended on it. He ran because the livelihood of three people he cared about most in the world depended on it. He ignored the sweet berries that scratched his legs and the twig in his shoe that every time he moved painfully stabbed his foot. He ignored how his lungs burned, begging for a break and while he knew he didn’t have to run- Schlatt was out of town after all- but for an operation of nothing but risks, he didn’t want to jeopardize himself now.
He ran because he hoped his feet would spell out an apology and write a letter of forgiveness. Not only for his friends, but for himself- he never slept alone for the ghosts of guilt and depression lay by his side. They whispered to him all their disappointments and taunted him while he prayed for sleep to overcome him. Every day he got up and these ghosts put on the black suit and patent leather shoes. And every morning, they shined his shoes and adjusted the red tie, his eyes would be glued to the white shirt with yellow buttons in the back of his closet; the blue jacket with brown shoulder pads calling his name. 
But he had no time to reflect on all that went wrong, he had to focus on where he was going and what he was going to tell the three exiles. He and Schlatt had been gone for a couple months away on business, and he had not been able to warn them of his leaving before he was whisked away. Right at his return he decided to tell Niki. She was glad that they were safe, but her heart yearned for their safety. Schlatt had another business trip and had wanted to take Tubbo with him again, but Tubbo was able to safely weasel his way out of it.
That’s how he ended up out of breath and knocking three times on a wooden door hidden in a mountain, pausing before knocking four times. He adjusted the cloth bag on his shoulder and his eyes darted around him once more. Nothing but trees surrounded the small home in a mountain, they were miles and miles away from any civilization. The river where they’d sneak out to fish at night was quiet, only the slight movement of the water traveling north could be heard alongside the rustle of the leaves in the trees around. The area was lifeless other than the shrubbery, not even a chicken ran by. If he didn’t face the possibility of death from standing where he was, he would’ve found it to be quite peaceful.
He almost jumped upon hearing the door open but was met with the eyes of the man he hadn’t seen him months. They had the same dullness to them that they had the first time Tubbo saw them after they ran. The fear they originally held upon hearing the exile announcement had vanished, for he had now done all he could to come to terms with it. Wilbur’s hair was already quite long and shaggy, but it was now tenfold that. The messy curls were past his ears and he had done his best to tie back what he could with string, but the unruly strands had other plans. He donned the same white cotton shirt with yellow buttons as he had before along with the blue jacket with brown shoulder pads, but Tubbo could see that the once pristine shirt had it’s sleeves torn off and the once pristine white color was now shades darker. 
And he felt bad. Standing there with a freshly ironed suit and shoes so shiny you could see the helpless man’s reflection in it. They could��ve stood there for hours, staring at each other in silence, but Wilbur grabbed his arm and pulled him before closing the door and putting the banner back over it. 
The small room was practically the same as it was the first time Tubbo had seen it. But now instead of furnaces covering one wall and disorganized chests, only one double chest and a crafting table were placed. The makeshift bed made from grass, tied together with string, was no longer there. A single torch sat on the crafting table, just barely lighting up the room. What stood out to the boy in the suit was the two by one doorway with a staircase leading down. He tried not to let his attention stay at the entrance, but it was hard when he wondered what they could possibly have down there. 
Wilbur looked at the small boy and held back a giggle. He remembers laughing at how he looked in the revolutionary uniform, like a child wanting to dress up as his hero. While seeing him in the clearly custom tailored suit should’ve terrified the outlaw, it reminded him of that time, a time where . He was just a child who had gotten into his father’s wardrobe, he told himself. But deep down he knew the power he held and the danger he was in, suit and all. The menacing laugh the dictator would give out as he held his head up to the audience, instilling fear into any who ever doubted what lengths he’d go to make sure no one betrayed him.
Instead he pulled the boy into a hug, his head resting on top of him- he could smell the clean scent of the shampoo he used and the nose curling cologne he adopted from his leader. Tubbo’s face was planted directly into his chest and he held back a gag at the foul scent of him. They missed each other because as much as he was self declared at Tommy’s Tubbo and as much as Schlatt declared that Tubbo was now his, he was their Tubbo. The boy who wanted nothing more than to create something with his friends.
Wilbur didn’t want to think about how long he embraced the boy. He missed him with every fiber of his being and wanted to apologize for everything he ever said about him, but he just couldn’t find the words. Instead he let go and directed him down the stairs to the place where the three villains had poured their new hearts and souls into for the last few months. Carefully they navigated the spiral cobble steps before reaching the end. 
Tubbo’s eyes widened upon seeing the ravine, stopped in his tracks at the end of the windy staircase. The ravine was thin but seemed as tall as a skyscraper. Vines grew down from the ceiling, some with glowberries, so that those on the ground floor who looked up felt like they were stargazing. The green of the vines were the only semblance of color other than the yellow glow from the torches haphazardly placed.
The bottom was just water with lily pads scattered on the surface and thin paths of cobble and stone were at the edges of the water. Stacks of cobble and other stones were piled in corners and against walls, pebbles occasionally rolling down into the stream, creating small ripples in the otherwise motionless water. Alongside these mounds were boxes filled with all kinds of monster loot, from gunpowder to bones, they had it all.
Up above him, empty, rickety bridges swung back and forth, the structures only being held together with wood slabs and string. Their brown color contrasting the murky green strings surrounding them. From where he was standing he could see multiple entrances to different sections of the cave. 
Tubbo adjusted the bag on his shoulders, the bundles of wood were heavy on this shoulder. Wilbur was doing his best to be patient, but he drooled because he could still smell the freshly baked bread and his stomach grumbled, his nose knowing that the boy also held some mutton with him. For far too long they ate the tasteless carrots and potatoes; sometimes they’d have flavorless fish when two of the boys braved the open world at nighttime. The watermelons had just recently been ripe enough to harvest, and they savored the taste like they did that first night, but there wasn’t enough sustenance in the fruit to only eat that. 
Wilbur led him to the kitchen and dining, making sure Tubbo was careful to trip and fall into the water. His eyes couldn’t focus on just one thing, they darted all around the base. He could see glimpses of chests and barrels, the reflection of shiny iron swords would catch his attention before dulling back down. Smoke from furnaces and torches twirled up to the roof and collected at the top. The same wall that had the windy staircase was also covered in scratched in tallies, hundreds of them lined the wall.
The kitchen and dining was a naturally carved out cove filled with the warm lighting that was in every ‘room’ of the cave. It was the warmest area in the whole place, other than the smelting room which truth be told just got uncomfortably and unbearably hot. Hand crafted, poorly made cupboards and countertops lined the opposing uneven stone walls. In the corner there was an uneven wooden table and matching uneven wood chairs to accompany it. Tubbo instantly plopped the heavy bag on the table and panicked when the table began to tip. 
“You have to be careful.” Wilbur darts over to stop the tragedy, carefully maneuvering the bag so that it sat on the table in such a way to not disturb the warped sense of gravity it had. 
Tubbo peaked behind Wilbur to see across from where they were, he could see a room with deep amber chests and chestnut barrels that held all the supplies they had accumulated. He watched as Tommy emerged from somewhere above the storage room and effortlessly scaled down a set of ladders to shove some cobble in a chest that he had to use all of his strength to get shut. Behind him he could hear the clink of the bread tin and the ruffling of the wrapped mutton as the older man moved the meat into the ice box. Wilbur was about to ask Tubbo just where he managed to find bedding, but Tommy’s booming voice interrupted. 
“Tubbo!” He looks across from where he had just stuffed cobble to see the small boy in clothes meant for people three times his age.
“Tommy!”
 Their eyes lock and big grins overtake their faces. Quickly he drops his pickaxe and hops across the lily pads before flopping onto the stone in front of his best friend.
Before they had time to blink, they were engulfed in a giant hug, and Tommy smelt worse than the man before had, but it was something Tubbo just chose to look over. His blond hair too had grown out of control, but unlike Wilbur he didn’t make an attempt to tie it back. His once long and beige trousers were now muddied shorts, the torn fabric could be seen fastened around his calf, a red spot peeking through. But what stuck out to him the most was that the dark eyes he so clearly remembers seeing in the days after the exile, were slowly regaining their once bright glow. Now flecks of the light blue were sprinkled around his irises. 
Tommy led the newcomer around and Tubbo’s eyes widened upon every new thing he was shown. Never had he seen such innovation and never did he think Tommy or Wilbur could achieve such a thing. It wasn’t their first time building an empire, sure, but it was their first time truly creating something that went beyond what everyone had thought they were capable of. 
He was shown most of the base, first being a room filled with an automatic smelting machine, minecarts clunking back and forth as they picked up what resources the furnaces dropped. Coal dust coated the ground and every other surface in the room, all the smoke making it difficult for Tubbo to breathe, coughing as soon as he took a breath in the room.
“I wish I could say you get used to all that, but you really don’t.” He grabbed his friend’s arm and kept going on the tour. 
Tommy quickly skipped past the sleeping quarters, more embarrassed than anything to show him the small room with three grass and hay beds, all squeezed next to each other. While the torch in the room provided some heat, they had to sleep close because the stone walls held no warmth, especially in the winter times. Techno’s cloak lay across all the beds as a makeshift duvet. 
What really took the boy’s breath away was the longest branch from the main ravine, where if you stuck to the path it led you to a small pond surrounded by lush underground greenery. A small spurt of water would trickle into the pond, adding to the ambiance. Two giant spore blossoms were there on opposing sides, the light yellow particles seemed like glitter falling to the sky, only complimenting the star appearance of the glow berries hanging from vines. String was woven above the pond, where miscellaneous clothing items hung to dry after an attempt was made to wash them. Azalea bushes lined the back wall of the pond where the water flowed out of, some of its petals falling into the light blue water. Tommy explains how this is where they do the washing, going on about how they want to designate certain water sources for certain things, or something of that nature. 
“The dripleaf plant is a killer, we always forget that if you stand on it too long you begin to fall.” He pauses. “Okay, well I forget. Techno and Wilbur are good about remembering it.”
This wasn’t just a base or a home or a means of survival, it was an entire operation. Tubbo didn’t need to be shown the dozens of secret tunnels and rooms (not that he would be shown them anyway) to know that they existed. He knew that every plan had at least three more backups, and backups for the backups. This had gone beyond presidency and exile- everyone knew that. The second Jschlatt had taken the mic and spit out his rules, policies, and decrees, everything that everyone was fighting for had changed.
Life inside Manberg had shifted, the tensions so high a spoon would cut it too easily. Everywhere you went you felt like eyes were watching you. Eret would watch how Tubbo would jump at the drop of a pin or Fundy would notice how Niki made more bread than usual. HBomb would hear the pitter patter of feet run by and see the flash of brown hair run by, but chose to ignore it. Skeppy closed his blinds whenever he saw the young boy begin to climb a tree to get a jar of honey. But Schlatt was oblivious to these clues, while he kept an eye on Quackity and Tubbo, he wasn’t able to notice these subtle shifts. He knew Tubbo was an oddball, but didn’t realize that his leg bounced because he worried that he had brought too little bread last weekend. Or that he refused to wear shorts that one week when it was so hot it was insufferable to do anything because his legs were so cut up from falling into a bushel of sweet berries. And Quackity spent too much of his time glued to Schaltt that he wouldn’t have had the freetime to pay attention to these things. 
But as Tubbo and Tommy arrived back to the dining, tin cups of water and plates of bread on the shaky table, he felt lighter. Techno braided his hair while Wilbur spoke of something they had not been caught up on yet, grabbing butter out of the ice box. Tommy ran past Tubbo and hopped onto a chair in the back of the table (almost knocking it over) to grab a slice of unbuttered bread, Techno abandoning his task for a second to hold down the table so that the boy didn’t ruin their meal.
The cleanly dressed man had just taken a seat at the table when he realized why he had felt lighter, and wondered how it couldn’t have caught it sooner. A sense of home, safety is what he felt when he entered past the staircase. Above ground, he was a criminal betraying his leader and country, all eyes on him as he snuck around. But below ground, all those things stayed above him, something above ground Tubbo would have to deal with; he figured the ghosts could help him carry that feeling back to the base for him. Right now all he wanted to do, was tell his friends how to survive and dethrone Schlatt.

Epilogue
It had been two years since Lyran was defeated at the hands of his brother, Darius. Lyran's dark, tyrannical and borderline mad journey to create his own ideal world came to a crashing halt when the members of HAVK, Hisa Shirayuki, Ali Crimson, Varin/Veta Treble and Kira Valencia helped bring him down in an all out battle. Things took a turn for the worse as Lyran, who was at the mercy of his brother, used his final straw in trying to get rid of the roadblocks that were in his way. Everyone was on their last legs when HAVK and Darius were battling Lyran, Ric, a seemingly mind controlled Veta, and hordes of Grimm. Things started looking bleak when Darius, who was the leader of the faction that Hisa worked at, was defeated by Veta and thrown off a cliff and down a ravine. Everything changed at this point. When HAVK found themselves cornered by an army of Grimm, a betrayal occurred, one that Lyran didn't see coming. In the end, Veta had sacrificed herself to lay waste to the Grimm that were about to attack HAVK and Lyran was defeated a fully healed (by using his self healing semblance) Darius. After the battle, the recovery process started with accounting all those who had perished valiantly in battle. That's when Hisa found out about Luka, her supervisor and friend, and how his body had never been found. As result, she was appointed Supervisor and Co-Leader of the Department for Scientific Weapons and Technology by Darius. When she wasn't managing other people, she was helping develop the latest and greatest in defense weapons and tech for the people of Remnant to use. Kira continued her Freelancing duties across Remnant – further carving a bloody, but righteous, path along the way while Ali decided to try teaching for a change at Signal Academy. She made the decision after getting the scare of her life during a mission to kill a slaver that had been kidnapping children to build weapons for him. She came across the kidnapper who had a semblance that duplicated his body. After a few moments of fighting, she was surrounded by clones that were attacking her without leaving any openings. After Kira's help in defeating the guard, Ali was left to think about her life and what could've happened. She had decided that “liberation” mission would be her last for a bit. One day, Hisa had made her way to Signal. She was dropped off not far from the school, but instead of walking through the front entrance, she chose to walk up a somewhat steep hill that overlooked the practice field near the campus. After a few moments, and a small break to ease the stitch in her side, she stopped at the top of the hill and sat down on the grass and pulled out her scroll. “I thought I saw you land.” said a voice Hisa that made her jump. “Oh!” Hisa said brightly, “It's you!” “Don't 'it's me' me, Techno Princess.” said Ali with a slight scowl, “Two years.” “Has it been that long? Goodness, how time flies.” said Hisa thoughtfully. “No calls,” continued Ali, counting off her fingers, “No e-mail, texts, nothing! And all you come up with is 'Oh, it's you?'” “Well I've been pretty busy with Atlas.” defended Hisa, but Ali was having none of it. “So what, are your hands broken?” she shot at Hisa. “No,” replied Hisa, “Are yours?” After a few minutes of silence, they both smiled and laughed. Hisa stood up and gave Ali a quick embrace. They started talking about the things that they had done after the battle, two years was a lot of time to catch up with each other. “Y-You're a teacher?” asked Hisa suddenly after a brief pause when she looked at Ali's badge hanging from her shirt. “Yeah, why?” replied Ali. “Nothing, it's just so unexpected from you. I'm used to you being out there and leaving a body trail behind you” said Hisa with a smirk. “Oh ha ha!” said Ali rolling her eyes, “I just decided I needed some quiet time. Some time away from hunting criminals and weirdos.” “Quiet time, huh?” asked Hisa. “Yeah, long story, but I guess I just need a break.” explained Ali. “So you need some quiet time, right?” asked Hisa. “Yeah...” replied Ali warily. “Some time to get away from your 'office,' right?” she continued. “Y-Yes?” Ali replied again. “So, to get away from the noise and raucousness of your job as a Huntress, you decided to get another job where you're surrounded by the noise and raucousness of young teens as a?” “Teacher.” Ali replied shortly. Hisa burst out laughing, holding her sides as her eyes started to water. “What? What is it?” asked Ali loudly over the wailing laugh of Hisa. “N-Nothing,” said Hisa as she tried to calm down, “It's just hard to imagine that a once child prodigy, who can kill a dozen people in an instant, is teaching kids.” “It's not permanent!” defended Ali, “It's just for now, until I decide what I want to do again. To be honest though, I want to get back out there again. I have this itch.” “I get you, I understand,” said Hisa nodding her head, “I kinda wish there was a tyrannical megalomaniac trying to lay wast to the planet. It's gotten way too quiet.” “Yeah...” said Ali pensively. They sat in silence again as the observed students making there way to the training grounds to undergo practice drills; their voices echoing over hill. “Wait a minute,” said Ali, breaking the silence, “What're you doing here? Atlas doesn't really have any business here.” 'Oh, you know, just fulfilling a promise I made.” replied Hisa as she took out her scroll and used her semblance to power up the camera lens and make it stronger to see a smiling and laughing Varin walking on the field surrounded by friends she had made.
