I am. So fucking tired of Batman being portrayed as a bad parent and a toxic person. And it’s so goddamn widespread. Fuck, it might be as bad as the whole “Superman being a kindhearted Boy Scout is boring” take.
I get it, the man’s not exactly stable, he watched his parents get murdered in front of him and spent years of his life training to fight crime dressed like a giant scary bat, of course he’s not perfect.
But to say that Bruce Wayne isn’t caring, isn’t empathetic, to call him abusive…it just misses the point of who the character is to me.
Why do you think he fights crime? Yes, part of it is because he’s bitter and sad because his parents were cruelly ripped from him as a child, and he’s lashing out against the corruption of his city. It’s arguably the focus of his earlier years. But he learns to become more than that. He learns to bring hope, a chance to be better.
Harleen Quinzel is the Joker’s right hand lady, but she’s also a victim of an abusive relationship and a woman with a surprisingly strong moral compass and a love for animals, and wants to get better. That’s why we see time and time again that he has a noticeable soft spot for her, because he knows that she’s a good person at her core.
Tumblr media
Harvey Dent is a man who will decide someone’s fate on a coin toss(and a pretty inaccurate depiction of DID), but he’s also Bruce’s close friend who clearly needs help learning to live with his condition, rather than try to get rid of it, and someone who he still goes out of his way to visit, even after everything, because he recognizes he’s not just a criminal with a weird gimmick, he’s a man who is struggling with a condition that he’s mishandled his whole life.
Tumblr media
Victor Fries is a cold, emotionless man who will callously discard allies and blame them for being careless, but he’s also a man who’s either lashing out because he had the love of his life taken from him, or just desperate to make sure she isn’t taken from him, and is willing to do anything just to guarantee her survival. Of course Batman would understand, his whole life was defined by having people he loved taken away from him.
Tumblr media
Even the Joker, arguably one of the most morally bankrupt characters in all of fiction, is someone that Batman has offered a chance to. After the guy shoots the daughter of his friend, a girl he cared for like she was his own kid, and paralyzes her from the waist down, he tells the Joker that he doesn’t want to hurt him. He wants to get him help. He looks at this monster who has taken countless lives and says “You don’t have to be alone.”
Tumblr media
For fuck’s sake, he sat with Joe Chill in his last moments so that he wouldn’t be alone. Joe Chill, the man who murdered his parents, who took so much from him, the person responsible for all of the misery and suffering he’s gone through. And he sits with the man to comfort him while dies. Do you know how much emotional intelligence and maturity that must take? To comfort someone who arguably ruined your life?
Tumblr media
And you’re gonna tell me the man who did that would abuse his kids?
Tumblr media
That he’d hold up the young man whose death was his greatest failure, the boy he grieved, and say this?
Tumblr media
That he’d look his goddamn son in the eyes and say this to him?
Tumblr media
Why the FUCK do you think he took in Dick Grayson in the first place? It wasn’t because he saw the kid and thought “Ah. A potential soldier.”, it was because he saw a boy experiencing the same heartbreaking loss he had so many years ago, and wanted to make sure he didn’t end up as bitter and miserable as he was.
Tumblr media
Why do you think he smiled when Tim Drake presented him a broken watch for Father’s Day? Because he was just happy to see the boy alive and safe.
Tumblr media
DAMIAN LITERALLY POINTED AT A COW AND SAID “I’m keeping her. She’s Bat-Cow.” AND BRUCE JUST WENT WITH IT. DIDN’T EVEN NEED TO ARGUE WHY BRUCE SHOULD LET HIM KEEP HER. HE SAID “this cow is my pet now” AND BRUCE SAID “aight, bet”.
The thing about Batman is that he wants to make sure nobody else ends up feeling the way he does. That’s not just about stopping a mugger so a boy’s parents aren’t gunned down. It’s about giving his loved ones the support and care that he couldn’t have, because it was taken from him. It’s about comforting someone who just went through a traumatic experience and letting them know that they’re going to be okay. It’s about going to someone locked away in a cell who thinks that they’re a lost cause and a burden to society and telling them that he wants to help them get better. It’s about EMPATHY and COMPASSION.
That’s what makes him a HERO. He’s meant to inspire us, to show us that we can have that same empathy for others around us, that we can turn our suffering into hope for a better future.
I just wish more people at DC would start recognizing that. But I might as well follow that example myself. Maybe through this struggle of having to see this hero mistreat the people around him and act like a grade-A jackass, people will start to recognize that missing compassion, and slowly but surely, it might come back. After all, what is this post, if not trying to bring attention to the matter in the hopes of fixing it?

Phantom's Number 1 Fan Part 3
John Constantine calls a joint Justice League and Justice League Dark meeting.
It's not something he wants to do. He barely works with the LJD, but at least that lot understands his work and knows what to do and where to go.
The JL members always ask questions and forget proper manners when working with the paranormal- John isn't the most well-mannered bloke around, but even he knows to permanently say goodbye to ghosts so that they don't follow him home- and it's like trying to teach an intern while dodging bullets.
He prefers to avoid the whole origination, especially since Bruce's death; everyone has been walking on eggshells, and there is a sense of disorganization drenched in grief that John breaks into hives just thinking about, but this is big.
Bigger than he can handle it on his own or with just the JLD. Even if the whole group gives the bats not-so-stable glances as they filter in.
John notices that one of Batman's brats is missing- the smart one- but he has heard that the kid suffered some kind of psychotic break from his father's death. It's sad, really, mainly because John used to believe that the third Robin was the one with the good head on his shoulders.
What's worse is that the Third Robin up and ran off, having gone off the grid when he refused to accept Batman's death. The boy hadn't said anything besides, "The portraits told me!" after having a miniature breakdown in his home.
It didn't help that around this time, the boy teammates had all dropped like flies except for one. So yes, John knows it wasn't a big surprise that he lost it, but it was still sad to see. Kid is only seventeen.
He hopes they find him soon to give him the help he needs. John would offer a spell to try and find him, but he needs to learn about the kid better, which means his spell can only point in a general direction.
Nightwing looked downright ragged, but losing a father on the battlefield and a younger brother to his grief did a number on anyone.
John hates himself just a little for dragging the grieving family here. He does, but again, this is bigger than all of them. This is a matter of life and death- literally.
"Listen up. We have a bloody level ten on its way to Earth if it's not already here." His words cut through the muttering crowd, shutting everyone up. A level ten makes even the big, lousy Superman sweat. He snaps his fingers, allowing his magic to shift into the image of a King Phantom sitting on his throne- painted in the early 1200s and the picture that can be used to identify him.
The art style would have been almost modern if it wasn't for the unease that the painting could cause due to the glowing green from his majesty's portrait. They say the green was ectoplasm from the king himself- and that alone should warn others to not mess with him.
Everyone Justice League Dark member hissed through their teeth, sitting up straighter and a few even pale. John is once again grateful that they understand just how deep in shit they genuinely are.
"This is the Ghost King. He is not to be confused with a god or king of gods. He's something else entirely because he makes gods nervous. He is on his way here to kill whoever is dumb enough to threaten his pregnant fiancee, and I fear the rest of Earth will be collateral if we don't prepare-"
"That's Danny Phantom," A young voice cuts John off. He is surprised someone would talk over him in a level ten briefing. All eyes turn to Robin- er, the new Robin.
The kid is frowning at the image, his signature scowl already deeper than usual. He's also heard the new Robin was a spoiled boy who was not a team player.
"You know King Phantom?" John asks.
Robin nods. "Placeholder is obsessed with him. Half his room is covered with King Phantom's heroics."
"Do not call him that.," Nightwing hisses a second later. He frowned when Robin ignored him but returned to the room without further comment on the boy's cheek. "Danny Phantom is a low-level search and rescue hero. He pops up around the world but only sometimes interacts with people. Robin- Young Justice Robin- was obsessed with him."
The room gains an awkward weight as no one is willing to bring up the mentally unsound MIA teenager.
It's too bad for them. John has never cared about making anyone comfortable. "You said his room is covered in images of King Phantom?"
From the corner of his eyes, John catches sight of Zatanna's face. She's pale white, with a horrified expression as if though she was standing before the grim itself. Every other member of the Justice League Dark is in a similar state.
"Yes, he has a whole wall of posters and stuff." Nightwing conforms, and shit John knows who Phantom's after now.
The thing is, one just doesn't have pictures of King Phantom. No one knows why, but the Ghost King can not be documented. Not without having some kind of connection to the King.
Throughout history, the only ones who have ever had even one solid picture of the king- John's magic doesn't count cause he can't well hold the thing up forever- usually meant that the King would appear before them at one point.
There is also a myth if one could beat a member of the royal ghost family, then one wish is granted to them. If one can kill a royal ghost member, death can be overturned.
It's not true, obviously, for death is not easily beaten like that, but John knows that as an expert, would a mentally unwell teenager know the same?
It was also known that if the King appeared before you, something terrible would happen. The sighting of King Phantom often came as an omen and usually right before a terrible disaster.
In the last disaster, they lost Batman, and if King Phantom had shown up, where the Third Robin have spotted him? Where the Third Robin have thought the King could return the dead?
Not to mention the rumors!
King Phantom was hunting down a group of humans known as "The Bats." John hadn't put that much stock in that rumor simply because it could have been anyone- hell, when he looked up the bats seven different groups appeared, varying from boy bands to zoologists.
But if he placed the name "The Bats" next to the Third Robin's psychotic break, his obsession with King Phantom, and his intertwined fates...well, shit.
There is a slight chance that the Third Robin's fate could be intertwined with the Ghost King in a positive light, but John has learned to not be optimistic in his line of work.
"I think the Third Robin is gunning after the Ghost King's fiancee and unborn child in a misguided attempt to bring Batman back to life. He may have kicked started a war that humanity can not win," He announces. He hates to say. hates to even suggest it, but the needs of the many outweigh those of the few. "We have to find the Third Robin and attempt to stop him. If we can't reason with him, we must put him down."
Wonder Girl gasps a sob, pressing her hand against her mouth.
John hates himself a little more as she sobs; a few rushes to confront her, but no one is unaffected by the news.
"I'm ordering a hunt for the Third Robin," Wonderwoman speaks up to her steady leadership, returning everyone from their despair. "Every available hero will help. Do not use lethal force unless there is no other choice. We may be able to find him before King Phantom's armies arrive."
John just hopes they are not too late.
Meanwhile, across the plane of existence, unaware of the manhunt for his head, Tim Drake is trying to stare down a Yeti, attempting to put him in silk clothes that are just fabrics held together by strings.
"No."
"But-But- but you have such a flattering figure! You must flaunt it! The Great One will barely be able to contain himself if he sees you in this!"
"No. It looks like something you wear on a honeymoon to seduce your spouse. I'm not walking around in that."
"Well, you don't need to bewitch his majesty. You already have a child on the way." The Yeit mutters, considering the fabric in his claws with a frown. He is Frostbite's royal tailor and has been attempting to dress Tim for over an hour. Everything he's suggested so far looks like it came from those romantic fantasy games.
It's like they want to make him a sexy consort or something.
Tim's teeth grind against each other. He hates how often his role is reminded, how casually the yetis mention that Ra's expects a child from Tim.
He doesn't even know how that child will come to be, and it makes him sick. He's been bidding his time, waiting for his wounds to heal and to find a weakness in the frozen fortress, but so far, he is unsure how he will escape.
And Bruce is still out there, waiting for Tim to get him. He can't waste any more time here.
"How about this cloak?" The Yeti offers, holding up a dark metallic fabric that reminds TIm of his Robin cape. "If we are going for a more conservative look, something that screams power is just the way to make the masses wild!"
Ugh, he really needs to think of a plan soon.

Forgotten Child
DpxDc
Bruce would admit that he wasn’t near a perfect man. In all truth he was far from it really.
He had made hundreds of mistakes through his life and he had hoped he had learned something from them all but there was one mistake that stood out more than anything else.
The box in his hands had been proof of such, everything in it entailed just how badly he had failed. Failed as a man, failed as a person but most of all how he failed as a father.
It all started a year before he welcomed Dick into his life. It was one of his biggest regrets but also one of his biggest blessings as he stared at the new born baby boy in his arms. Soft blue wrapped around the little boy like tight arms as he held the sleeping baby close.
He had drilled that moment into his memories as he held the soft little bundle. It would be his first and his last memory of the boy in his arms. He knew the moment the pregnancy was announced that he wouldn’t be able to keep the babe. His life as Batman was to dangerous for a baby and as such he had made the decision to hand his baby to someone else.
Nobody but a trusted few would ever know of the young babe, no one would know Batman or Bruce Wayne had a son.
It had taken time and research but he had picked the perfect family. They would take care of his little star, he would be their son and not his. He would grow up safe and protect as Daniel Thomas Marshal.
Or at least he thought so.
Bruce didn’t give up contact with Daniel, each year he would send the boy anonymous gifts for his birthday and the holidays just as the elusive Uncle B. And as the boy grew they often exchanged letters.
His boy was smart, the top of his class and he was ohh so brilliant. He often drew pictures for Bruce where then man would store each with the letters in a box for sage keeping. Things had gone that way for years and Danny and he talked about many things. Bruce talked about life and Danny liked to talk about stars and the things he learned at school.
It had all been going so well till it all fell apart.
Jason had died and Bruce fell apart, losing himself in his grief for his lost child. Somewhere along the line after Jason’s death Bruce had stopped responding to the letters young Danny sent. He couldn’t bear to read them while he grieved Jason and at one point he must have told Alfred to just store them in Daniels letter box in instead of bringing them to him.
Somehow he had forgotten, he had forgotten the letters of messy cursive and doodles of stars and galaxy’s. Stories of school or life in the farm where he was being raised out in Wisconsin.
It was only because of his children that he remembered. A normal day of roughhousing and being shooed away by Alfred to take their antics elsewhere while he cleaned.
The kids had decided to take their games to the halls between there room and Damian and Jason to pick a locked door of a spare room that was never used and always locked. The others would never think to check the room as it was never opened.
The boys weren’t expecting to find a old but well cared for nursery. The walls a soft blue, the The ceilings dark blue with plastic stars in the patters of constellations. A crib in one corner with space themed decor and a small bed in the middle of the room obviously for when the crib was outgrown.
On the far wall was multiple shelves with a few old toys along with books and many other small items. Then there were the picture frames scattered about the shelves and other furniture in the room. All had one thing in common, a boy with soft black hair and ice blue eyes but each photo the boy was more grown.
At first they thought it was Bruce but the photos were to new and Bruce didn’t have ice blue eyes. The boy was in a picture with his parents, a blond woman with blue eyes and a Black haired man with green eyes. Those weren’t Bruce’s parents so who were they and who was the child that was in each photo.
Before they could snoop any further the door had been opened and a Stern Alfred shooed them away.
It didn’t take long for the boys to question Bruce about the room he had long ago forgotten about. Bruce didn’t say a word as he had rushed over to the room that he had long sense abandoned before he closed himself inside.
There Bruce had cried, he had forgotten one of his children and he cried as he looked at the photos.
He had spent hours in that room before a wooden box to the side on a Dresser caught his attention. He knew exactly what that box contained and he dreaded opening it.
When he found the courage to lift the lid he was greeted by hundreds of letters. A portion opened but most were untouched, never opened to be read.
He’d spend the next few weeks slowly going through the letters. Danny wasn’t sure why he hadn’t responded but the boy wrote that even though he didn’t get a response he hoped the letters were reaching him.
He learned soon after Jason’s death when Danny was 10 that the Marshals had died leaving Danny to the State only to be adopted by a family called the Fentons a year later.
After that Danny’s letters became less detailed and more vague about his life but instead asking questions Bruce would never answer. The boy avoided talking about his home life and manly talked about school and his 2 new friends or he’d ask about Bruce, how he was doing? If he was ok? And so on. Somehow Danny never gave up writing to Bruce.
That was until the last letter, sent over a year ago in handwriting Bruce didn’t recognize. Jasmine, Danny’s adopted sister had written that dated letter over a year ago.
Over a year ago Danny had been killed, killed in an accident in the Fentons Lab. No body left to be buried only the address of an empty grave.

Anyways, so Danny is actually kinda a literal star (this may be because his obsession is space or his the Ancient of Space). After millions of years, he is finally close to his (final) death and tries to find a nice place to do a version of a supernova. He has been helping people and exploring space for almost the entirety of his life, and he is ready to rest. That was until he found a small boy who had recently died wrong and ended up in the Infinite Realms as a halfa. The way too young boy, or Robin as the kid remembers, reminds Danny a lot of him when he first started out as a halfa (which at this point he is either a full on ghost or his human side is immortal). He knows he shouldn't be around him being so close to death, but he can't help but take in the little bird, helping him much like he wished he was helped when he was young.
They become very close, Jason Robin finally getting the parent figure he always longed for. Danny told himself he couldn't shouldn't get attached, but he ends up loving his little star much more than he's ever loved anybody (familial wise of course), and he's helped a lot of kids/people in those millions of years.
Eventually, though, Danny's time has come, and he doesn't know how to tell his starlight that he has to go. So when the young bird begins to be pulled back into his universe, the living realm calling for Robin once more, Danny lets him go even when the boy begs to stay. It's hard, but Danny knows it's for the best.
Jason returns to his universe as the much older version of himself, having grown since he'd died. He doesn't remember anything from his time in the Infinite Realms, but he can feel something missing, something he was longing for. The feeling drives him absolutely nuts, and he becomes more enraged than he has ever felt, and he doesn't know why. He blames it on coming back wrong, on the failure that was supposed to be his father (Bruce), of how he died so young because of how naive he was.
Though he'll never truly know that it's his ghost half grieving for somebody he no longer remembers. Somebody who he loved and who loved him back. The man he called father and spent all his time with, learning the mystifying ways of being a half ghost. The man who rambled about space, making him beg to go see it so he could see the beauty himself.
The star who shone so bright that the darkness he felt vanished, bringing a new galaxy of happiness he's never felt.
But now that the star was gone, the darkness had returned, its grim shadows bringing the worst in Jason as he unknowingly grieved.

Neither Gone Nor Forgotten
sequel to No Body to Bury. This isn’t edited, if you find any errors feel free to let me nice, just be nice about it.
------
Planning a funeral for Danny turned out both easier, and harder, then Batman had anticipated. Easier because he wasn’t deep in grief the way he had been when planning previous funerals, and harder because, well, the person the funeral was for was still around to have opinions. Not that Danny was hard to please, he seemed happy with just about everything, but he was struggling with whether he should tell his human family and friends. He really wanted to, but he was scared.
“I don’t think they’ll understand,” Danny said, his legs dangling over the edge of the tall building he and Batman were currently sitting on, holding a milkshake Bruce had bought for him. “Sam, Tucker, and Jazz all supported me while I was still only half dead and knew. I haven’t kept entirely out of the news since starting to work with you guys and I know they’re upset I abandoned them, I’ve seen it when I check on them. There’s no way they can understand how much changes when you die, I watch over them, but Ic an never go back.
“I can’t be what they want me to be, I’m not really Danny anymore at all, and they’d want me to be what I was. They’d want me to be human, and I’m just not anymore. I would want them to think I was completely dead and gone, but they’ve seen me in the news so there’s no chance of that.”
“Hm,” Batman said helpfully. “Write them a letter, I’ll make sure it’s delivered and then they can come on your terms, or not,” He suggested, he’d found writing letters to be a lot easier. “Like a will?”
Danny cocked his head to the side as he thought about that and then nodded slowly. “That’s a good idea, thanks Batman. You’re not nearly as bad at emotions as everyone says,” The young ghost said, bumping his shoulder against Bruce’s. It made the older hero smile. He wasn’t surprised to find that Phantom was gone when he turned back towards where the boy was sitting, his small smile remained as he threw out the abandoned milkshake and went on with his patrol.
It was two days later when the letter appeared on his desk, not yet folded or in an envelope which Bruce knew was permission to read it. He appreciated that because he would have had a hard time resisting the curiosity even if it was already sealed.
Dear Sam, Jazz, and Tucker
First of all, I want to say I’m sorry. I loved you all and I didn’t run away, I didn’t want to leave you. It was the GIW, remember when I said I was a ‘who’s who of who can’t catch ghosts’? I guess I underestimated at least one of them because they finally got me. Of course it was Phantom they were trying to kill, but is anyone surprised that they failed? It was Danny who they ended up killing, and now I can’t go back.
I didn’t realize what a big difference there would be between being half dead and all dead, a little humanity goes a long way I guess. Don’t worry I’m not going to become Dan, but I can’t be Danny anymore either, just Phantom left now and while I still love you and watch over you as I am, it’s not like I can just ‘live my life’ anymore. It hurts too much to try and pretend to be alive now, and ghosts are creatures of instinct, I can’t go against the natural order of life and death and come back to you, no matter how much I love you or how much you miss me.
Batman and some of the other heroes have offered to arrange a funeral for Danny, this time there’s actually a corpse to bury after all. I won’t be there, but it’s important for both the living and the dead that the dead have a grave, a place to grieve lost life. You don’t have to come if you don’t want to, if it’s too hard or you’re too mad at me still. But if you do come or ever visit I’ll feel you there and it’ll make me happy, and maybe it’ll be some closure for you? I never meant to hurt you.
I’ll still be around to protect you, I’ll protect everyone I can. That’s been my obsession since the start hasn’t it? And Jazz don’t you start, ghost’s obsessions are what keeps us here and in one piece, I don’t need therapy. And I guess that’s the heart of it isn’t it? I’m not human anymore, and I can’t pretend to be, and we wouldn’t understand each other anymore. Not really. Ghosts don’t change much though so I’ll always love you and when you die maybe we can be friends again, if you can forgive me for this.
Forever young and yours,
Phantom
Batman read the letter and sat quietly with it for a few long minutes, thinking about it and also questioning some parts, like who Dan was. It was sad of course, but it was sweet too, and he didn’t think that Phantom’s friends would be nearly as upset with him as he thought they would be. Finally he sighed and folded it up, finding a envelope and address it to Danny’s sister since she seemed like the best one to make sure they were all there when it was opened and read. He put it in the folder to be sent out and then leaned against his desk.
“Are you really not going to come?” He asked the empty room, and after waiting for a moment wasn’t surprised when Danny stepped out from nowhere. He’d started to get a sense of when Phantom was there, untouchable and unseen.
“No, I’ll be there, but only the way spirits usually are. I won’t be there physically, just in spirit,” He said, smiling at his own pun. Batman chuckled a little and nodded.
“I understand why you don’t want them to know that, I won’t let on,” He assured. “I think you’ve done the right thing letting them know.”
Danny nodded and then vanished again, this time out through the window, properly leaving the office and Batman alone again.
Batman had the discussion with the rest of the Justice League without Phantom present so they could avoid accidental offense. Not everyone would come, not everyone could come, Batman banned a few of the more literal heroes who would not understand why they were having a funeral when Phantom was still here, even though he had actually died. But a decent amount did come, and Batman had a feeling that the ones Phantom would care about most was Bruce himself, and Diana, who was coming.
-----
When the day of the funeral came Batman and Diana stood outside the little chapel to welcome people. They weren’t technically family of course, apparently Diana was distantly through an ancestor of hers and adoption, and Bruce thought of himself as a paternal figure to Danny, besides they’d been here early setting everything up. The nice coffin was already at the front of the room, closed since it was empty with while lilies placed on top and decorating the little building along with some roses and candles.
He wasn’t particularly surprised when the first person who showed up was Danny’s big sister Jasmine Fenton driving Danny’s two friends. His parents weren’t there but Phantom had mentioned it might not be a good idea for them to come because they would probably be disruptive. Both Jazz and Tucker’s eyes were rimmed red like they’d been crying and Sam’s jaw had a stubborn set to it like clenching it was the only thing keeping her lips from trembling.
They reached the steps, Batman nodded to them and Diana gave them a sad smile. Jazz looked through the open doors, her breath hitching. “Is he in there?” She asked, pointing to the coffin.
Batman shook his head, voice soft and rough as he responded. “Phantom said he’d bring the body later, Less chance for something to go wrong and… I don’t know if it would hurt him, but I think it’s easy to see why he’d be protective of it.”
Jazz’s lip trembled and she took a deep breath, behind her Sam had wrapped an arm around Tucker who had started to cry again, turning to hide against her shoulder. “When you see him again tell him we’re not mad at him, please?” Sam said, her voice hard with repressed emotions, it almost sounded angry but there was a subtle difference.
“He’s right that we can’t understand everything,” Jazz said, biting her lip for a moment before continuing. “But after something like this he needs space, and we won’t rush him. If he needs to start a new life, we get it, everything must remind him of trauma right now, but if he ever wants to get back in touch with us. Well, I’ll love him forever too. But also tell him that he should have been more careful in that letter he wrote if any of us had been feeling suicidal his comment about being friends again after death might have been the last push we needed over the metaphorical edge-”
She was taking a deep breath to continue her lecture when Sam wrapped her other arm around Jazz’ shoulder and pulled her away. “Well we’re not, it’s fine, let’s go sit down before Tucker collapses from dehydration from all these tears.”
“I’m not going to collapse! I’m not even crying that much!” Tucker insisted, his voice audibly wet.
Batman and Diane kept their faces straight while Sam dragged them all into the little building and to seats in the front row. Then Batman’s lips twitched up in a slight smile and Diana gave a weak laugh. “I knew they wouldn’t be as angry with Phantom as he feared,” Batman said, trying to keep his amusement under control.
“What a precocious girl, a big sister through and through,” Diana agreed and sniffled a little, it seemed their grief had gotten to her a little. He understood.
Slowly more people filtered in, just other heroes now, and one young woman called Val. Sam said to let her in even though there was clearly tension there, the heroes didn’t ask.
The scheduled time of the funeral Diana and Batman went inside, closing the door after them and, since Danny hadn’t wanted a priest so Batman started to make his way to the front to start things off.
“We’re here today in remembrance of Danny Phantom, a brave young man lost to soon in the line of duty. He never should have had to join the fight so young,” Batman stumbled a little when he saw Jason slip in at the back of the chapel. He had sort of though Jason wasn’t coming, but there he was, dressed in his Red Hood get up, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. Batman could tell that he was on edge, but he was here, and it would make Danny happy. He took a deep breath and carried on with his planned remarks.
When he was done he stepped down off the little podium and Jazz stepped up, pulling some queue cards out of her pocket, taking a deep breath and launching into a planned speech. She was a good public speaker, she managed to keep it together through her speech but her words were clearly very heartfelt.
It went well, a few more people spoke, by the end Batman was actually having a hard time keeping his feeling under control, he maybe should have came as Bruce Wayne so he could have cried. He kept it under control though and eventually it was time to bring the coffin out to the prepared grave. They hadn’t fully planned who would carry it because they hadn’t known if Danny’s friends and sister were going to come, but now that they were here of course they were invited to help carry the coffin.
Batman and Diana took the majority of the weight of course, but all three of them took the offer to help carry the coffin the prepared grave. They lowered it in and Superman placed the specially made vault over top that would protect Danny’s body from, well, the usual stuff super heroes had to deal with, bodies being stolen for experimentation, attempted cloning’s, resurrection but wrong, all that jazz.
Jasmin through in the first handful of dirt, then Sam, then Tucker and then the heroes joined in. When the grave started to be filled properly a lot of the heroes started to wander away, Batman approached Jason who was hanging back.
“Please stay,” He murmured to his estranged son, seeing Jason’s shoulders tense, his arms were still crossed defensively. “Phantom will be bringing his body one most of the people clear out and he’d really like to meet you. If you don’t mind, he just died, and it’s been hard on him, I think meeting you would be a comfort.” He watched with bated breath as Jason’s fingers twitched and tightened on his own arms before he nodded. Bruce breathed a subtle sigh of relief and nodded, turning back towards the grave.
Once the grave was filled and basically everyone else had either left or gone back to the little chapel to socialize, Danny finally arrived. He faded into view, seemingly almost shy, watching them both closely for their reaction. Bruce understood why, he had to carefully school his expression when he saw the state that Danny’s body was in. It wasn’t that he was dead obviously, ashen and limp, passed the stage of rigger it seemed, it was the visible injuries. He was littered with cuts and bruises, there were stull cuffs around his ankles and wrists which had clearly burned into his skin. The wound that had killed him was, well, it looked like an autopsy had been done, his chest was fully open, but Batman knew it had been done while he was still alive. It was horrific.
Batman managed to keep himself under control though his breathing sped up, Hood’s mask completely hid his face but he rocked back like he’d been struck. Danny hesitated, licked his lips a little and stepped forward.
“I can’t touch the cuffs, but I don’t want too bury him with them still on. Will you take them off for me? They shouldn’t burn you,” Danny asked Bruce.
He was about to say yes when Jason cut in, “I’m better at picking locks then him, I’ll do it.” He practically growled, stalking forward and pulling his lock picking kit out of one of the pockets on his suit. “Who did this to him,- You?” He asked softly as Danny knelt, cradling his own corps close to his chest, letting Jason kneel in front of him and take one of the limp arms to start on the cuffs. Jason hissed when he touched it, it burned a little but he breathed through it and started to pick the lock.
“It was the GIW, the ghost investigation ward. I killed the ones who did it, and the justice league helped me disband the rest of the organization and overturn the laws that enabled it,” Danny responded, his green eyes locked unblinkingly on Jason, watching him as he watched Jason work on the locks.
“Good, I’m glad their dead. That must have felt good,” He chuckled vindictively.
“I am too, but I’m more glad they won’t get to hurt anyone else. They might have gone for you if they were still able.”
“Me? Why?” Jason asked, his fingers twitching, he cursed softly when the lock pick slipped, he grumbled and started again.
“Because you died before didn’t you? The cuffs burn you because you’re not… completely alive anymore I won’t ask anything about it, I know that’s private but if you ever want to talk about it, or if you need help with the… side affects, I’d be happy to help you,” Phantom offered softly. Jason only hummed in response, he needed to process and consider that.
When the final cuff fell to the ground Danny took a deep breath and curled around himself, resting his forehead against his body’s hair. From the way his shoulders were shaking they could tell he was crying, Jason rested a hand on Danny’s shoulder, just being there for him until Phantom was ready and finally sunk into the ground. He was down there for a long time before he surfaced again, flying over to hug batman, burrowing against his chest a little while Batman patted his back gently, Jason standing by awkwardly.
“Thank you so much for doing this, and thank you both so much for coming. This really means so much to me.”
“Of course kid,” Jason said, reaching out to ruffle the boy’s soft white hair.
Batman nodded, giving Danny a gentle squeeze, “No one deserves to be forgotten.”

DC X DP Prompt *19*
Daniel Kane knew that he was different. The older he got, the more he remembers about a different life. A life with a different older sister - Jazz - and not in Gotham, but somewhere in the Midwest. But he didn't dwell on it to much. He loves his sister Martha and he couldn't be happier for her. She married Thomas Wayne and they both seemed to be so in love. Then Martha got pregnant and a few month later he held his little godson/nephew Bruce in is arms.
Daniel stayed close to the Waynes and was more often in their house then not. But he also started to remember more, things that seemed impossible. Like a blues skinned, floating boy/man/grandpa. Sometimes when he looked in the mirror, his features looked wrong for a split second. White hair, green eyes and far to young. But he pushes all of this away and tries to live a normal life.
Then his sister and Thomas die. So he does the only right thing and becomes little Bruce's Guardian. It's hard, even with Alfred's help. But he tries do be there for him, while grieving behind closed doors.
When Bruce comes to him, to tell him about his idea to protect the people of Gotham, he first wants to objects, but something tells him that this needs to happen.
So after a few years Bruce becomes Batman. And Daniel worries every night, but he somehow knows that his nephew is doing the right thing.
And as their family grows, he can´t help but be grateful, even though his memories become more and more distorted. It was like he had a life before this one. A life of a normal middle class kid, then a teen hero with outlandish powers. But he was never much older than Damien in his memories, even though he got a new one almost every night.
At some point he started to write everything down. He hid his notes from the rest of the family, until one day when he had a strange feeling. He left everything out in the open for the others to find.
Daniel Kane wasn’t seen again after this day.
.
.
.
The same day, a black haired teen stepped into a portal to another dimension, dying without dying.
.
.
.
Clockwork had a sad smile on his face. But this was what had to be done to right the timeline. Danny Phantom couldn’t exist without Daniel Fenton, so he needed to make sure that this time someone was around who could also protect his human side.
After his identity got revealed accidentally and his parents captured him, it didn’t take long till his human half couldn’t take it anymore. He was only able to rescue the full Ghost of Danny Phantom and it took so long for the young ghostling to heal.
He send his soul back to reincarnate in the past so that they could change everything and he was again able to become the Ancient of Balance. But the moment that Daniel Fenton formed as a Ghost the soul of Phantom had to be reabsorbed into him. And so Daniel Kane would no longer exist.
But Bruce Wayne would still see him as family and Danny would get the family he deserved, even if he didn’t know this anymore.

Pitching my " Bruce and Harley long lost twins " AU because Margot Robbie and Robert Pattinson look eerily similar and it gave me brainrot-
I feel like Falcone had a hand in separating them, breaking the proud Wayne clan apart ,- what's a daughter missing? Gotham's mean to it's girls, so it'll be just fitting for one to die before they lived.
Maybe it happens when Falcone's still considered a family friend. He offers to drive Martha to the hospital when Thomas can't, and Alfred neither.
As Martha Wayne screams the town down, he has a friendly chat with the staff.
Martha KNOWS she had twins; she just knows. But when she asks, everyone's so puzzled. " Mrs. Wayne, you had a boy; Just... One boy."
" That can't be right," she sniffs, even if she's holding Bruce so tightly to her, a hollow void eats her where her daughter should be. " I had a girl. I know I did. Thomas- Tommy picked that silly name for her, after his pet rabbit. I know it!"
Martha Wayne wasn't thrown in Arkham because she was dangerous; She was locked up because she was a grieving woman, and Thomas Wayne can make that go away, but he can't get his daughter back. She did exist. She was someone.
They have Bruce, until they don't.
CONSIDER THIS; Harley and Riddler in the same orphanage. Him spitting on Bruce even after his parents were murdered, and Harley feeling a sense of wanting to protect Bruce from it??
She doesn't know why. Her fists itch and twitch to punch long and wiry Eddie Nygma in the teeth for saying Bruce deserves it.
Because yes, he's a rich kid. A rich kid with dead parents rotting in the ground.
" So? You're so fucking stupid, Harley. He has MONEY now! He'll be FINE. Meanwhile, US gutter spawns here-"
Harley remembers Eddie holding down Jenny Jameson. Four years old, playful and clueless in a way Gotham murders young.
She remembers her screaming while Eddie shoved rusty nails in her mouth for taking his apple.
He doesn't care about anyone but his goddam self. He couldn't understand Bruce Wayne. Or her.
She never had any family, but doesn't that suck more? To have something love you that only death could make it stop? She sees Bruce Wayne's grief striken ashy face in that square TV.
She grieves, too. She doesn't know why. She just does.
God I love Bruce and Harley being roomates; Meeting as adults, - or as close to adulthood as they'll ever be able to touch.
Bruce doesn't understand why she hangs out with Eddie and Jack. Jack just rubs him the wrong way and Eddie looks at him, hateful edge sharp and cutting and Bruce doesn't mind that;
But he does mind Harley being around them. Especially Jack. " Ah, ya just don't know howtta have fun, Brucie. This is COLLEGE. Be there or be square. Cause he doesn't invite just anyone, ya know?"
" He smells like... Smoke. And bleach," he scrunches his nose. " And he's...Mean."
" That's just how he jokes around! He's a funny guy if you have a sense of humor."
and he HEARD Jack make fun of the scars on Harley's back; He's seen them, because Harley's world doesn't have the word " shame" in it and changes around him frequently.
He did freeze, the first time he saw them. Pale and scarred. Close to unintelligible depending on the lighting. But he does see them. It'd be a kindness for him if he wouldn't.
Dragged. With a sharp object, mkst accurately a piece of glass or razor blade. Thin, but deep. Letters stretched from one shoulder blade to another.
Wayne
Propriety
To which Eddie laughed with, because he and the kids at the orphanage were the authors. They figured if Harley wanted to defend that family so badly, she'll have a sign that fits.
But she didn't need to know that. Bruce does. Bruce knows everything about anyone, seems like.
" No, I mean, - mean to YOU. He makes dumb blonde jokes even if you're at the top of their class. "
" Yeah, well, " Harley shrugs, painting her eyelids with green and purple; She doesn't like either, but Jack told her she'd be prettier if she changed her make up. " Told him I didn't like it, so he's gonna stop...Eventually. he's nice to me sometimes."
" He should be nice to you ALL the time. Just... Don't go. I'll watch that horrible Grey Ghost reboot if you stay with me."
Harley is weak for his puppy eyes; She really is. " Please, Harl. Don't go."
"... Fine," she groans. " I'll be a loser. Just for my favourite roomie."
" I'm the only person who responded to your ad."
" Wanna know why? We're probably meant to be in eachother's lives."
" I don't think Gotham is kind enough to give me a friend like you."
Harley actually tears up and CRUSHES Bruce in a hug, nevermind Jack's stupid " never touch Wayne" rule. " BRUCE. We're gonna be BFFS forever. I'll make you a teeth necklace."
" I think the bracelet's enough."
" You'll be maid of honor at my wedding."
" That's not what it's called."
" You'll be my kid's weird uncle that says phones ruin families and not decades of fermented generational trauma."
"...Sure."
Sure. Bruce can be anything, if he's with her, and she's with him.

Grief | Bruce Wayne | DC
Tumblr media
No.30: Coma
Bruce Wayne was familiar with grief. He had grieved his parents at a young age, and he had grieved the life he lost when they died. He grieved the loss of his son, and then grieved the loss of their former relationship when he resurfaced as Red Hood. What he wasn’t familiar with was the uncertainty of hospitals and near-deaths.
Nearly every time Bruce had grieved, he had been certain that he would never get back what he had lost, and he had been correct. Nothing stayed the same. This time however, he was grieving someone still alive.
Watching (Y/N) lay still, almost lifeless, on the hospital bed almost killed him. The wires keeping her alive seeming sprouted from every inch of her. Bruce didn't know that so much machinery went into this process, it all seemed so cold and sterile.
Bruce felt like he was sick from the thought, but he couldn't help but find it oddly fascinating that all of this preventative measures was caused by a small bullet. The metal fragment was small enough from him to roll in his fingers.
Alfred had brought the boys around to visit (Y/N), he said it was important for them to see her like this. They had taken on (Y/N) as a surrogate mother figure of sorts, just as they had done to Bruce. Damian had taken the biggest liking to the woman, their bond was something beyond what anyone had come to expect capable for the boy.
Damian's visit to the hospital was the first time Bruce had seen him cry. He couldn't blame the boy though, if he could manage it Bruce would also cry but he just felt numb.
There was nothing that he could do, he was powerless in this situation. The helplessness he felt as he watched the heart monitor's repetitive beeping, signalling that (Y/N) was still alive. He could only watch and grief for something he may not even lose

I Hate That Soothing Voice (no I actually don’t)
(Batmom x dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne x reader)
*EDITED*
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1,937
Synopsis: Where Dick Grayson is a very angry child who misses his mom and YN is a woman with all the patience and care in the world (according to Bruce) In reality Dick Grayson is about to make a grown woman cry.
Warnings: Angst, Very angst, parental loss, child grieving, arguing, self-insecurities, self guilt, but fluff towards the end ;)
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Richard John “dick” Grayson hates it here. He hates the long hallways, the tall the unreasonably tall doors.
The hugeee open rooms that occupy the manor that definitely do not make him want to yell at the top of his lungs in order to hear an echo of his voice that he is sure would be so, so cool, or the endless amount of cookies and desserts that Mr. Pennyworth and Y/N make for him.
Oh and don’t even get him started on how much he hates, hates Mrs. Wa-
Yep! No, Richard Grayson hates it here. So much so that after being in his new room, staring at the ceiling he sheds a tear.
He sheds a tear because he's frustrated, So frustrated that he just wants to find Missus Wayne and yell at her some more (he’s been doing that since Bruce had brought him into the Manor) for coddling him, being nice to him, and talking to him in that soothing voice that he hates so MUCH because he DOESN'T WANT THAT! He’s angry. So angry... So angry, so sad, and so another tear falls.
and another
and another
And he doesn't know how but suddenly he’s on his side sobbing into his pillow crying for his mommy.
He doesn't even realize that he’s become so loud that he's notified the one woman he doesn't want to see.
_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
It’s late. You knows it's late, but you can never really sleep when Bruce is away on his....Nightly activities. The bed is always too cold and you’ve gotten too comfortable (spoiled) falling asleep in his arms. But you know that's not the real reason why you can't fall asleep. It’s because of the 8 year old boy who's currently across the hall asleep his room.
You can't sleep because you don’t know what to do.
You knew he was grieving, god, was he grieving and you were doing everything you could do in your power to help him adjust to this new life.
A new life without his parents. You felt for the little boy, Massively so, that you take the anger. You take the yelling, the screaming, and the tantrums that he pulls because you knows he’s angry.
You talk to Alfred about it while you both have tea one morning, and he tells you “Well Lady Y/-
 “Just Y/N”
“I beg your pardon?” You huff and roll your eyes, “Y/N, Alfred. Cmon it's been years, you think we would be on first name basis now” you say cheekily.
He simply stares at you for a long second with eyes full of irritation, (you swears you could see a hint of amusement in them though)before continuing “As I was saying, I simply feel a wave of nostalgia when looking at young Master Dick” he takes your silence as an answer to continue. “The anger and the yelling reminds me of when Master Bruce was a young boy whom had just lost his parents.”
It’s then that you want to bash your head into the wall, because how did you not see it? Bruce and Dick, Both haven gone through some of the most traumatic thing ever know to a young child.
Loosing their parents. So you take the anger and with a new understanding. That seems to set him off more actually. Feeling hopeless and out of options, you go to Bruce. Your love, your confidant, your best friend in the whole world. And you asked him what to do.
Bruce was shocked. Because usually when you couldn't do something you would try your absolute best to tire out all your options when you came head first with a problem before you even attempted to ask Bruce for help.
It used to annoy the hell out of him, because he thought you not letting yourself need him was because you didn’t trust him, and that hurt. But he later found out that when it came to the important and vital things you would always come to him.
Your stubbornness over the years become more endearing. So he kinda understands why you do it. Because he knows that you know that he will rub it in your face that you need him. He finds it rewarding when you blush red, out of anger or blush because you’re flustered. He likes to think it's the latter.
So when you came to him with your problems with Dick he knew he shouldn't rub this one in your face. Because the look of defeat and hopelessness coating your beautiful face left him with a deep feeling of discomfort in his stomach, and concern and worry coating his usually stoned face.
So he tells his wife some of the things him and Dick have bonded over (dead parents, and broodiness and anger being their usual personality) He tells you some of his experience and how he absolutely hated the world, took his anger out on everyone and everything. He told you that because your there your gonna be a punching bag. He did the same this with Alfred. still does.
“You need to establish a ground rules.” he tells you.
“You’re could be patient and understanding, but he has to understand he can’t talk to you like that.” Bruces words and advice give you the courage to speak.
“Do you really think so? I feel like me getting strict with him will just get him more angry?”
“I promise you sweetheart, this will help.” And it looks like it does because the previous look of defeat was now replaced with a sense of determination, and it was painted all over his stunningly gorgeous wife’s face.
So much so that when you kiss him with your form of a simple thank you, he definitely prolongs the gesture of gratitude by grabbing you by the hips and pulling you onto his lap. Oh how determination and happiness on his wife’s face looks so, so sexy.
So now laying in bed, with Bruce’s advice running through your head you plan on bonding with him tomorrow. Thats right! You’re going to move past your guy’s ..awkward phase and you ar- *sniffle* *sniffle* your inner monologue stops. *wailing*, *sniffle*
“I want my mommy” and your breath catches. No. Oh no, no. You immediately rip off the covers and walks out of the room into the hall.
You make a beeline towards the door. When you suddenly stop. You’re hit with the realization that..He wants his mommy. Oh, he wants his mommy. If you went in there you’ll surely just be a reminder that his mother is gone and that he now lives with Bruce and Y/N. Two people who are not his parents.
You’re contemplating turning back when you hear another heartbreaking sniffle that causes a sting to burn in your eyes and and lump to form in your throat, yeah your definitely going inside. You turn the knob to the door and slowly open it.
Dick stops sniffling immediately when he hears the knob turn.
He raises his head to see Mrs. Wayne standing in the door way, looking at him with a warm tentative smile and soft understanding eyes.
And he doesn't know if it’s the sudden guilt he feels for treating you so horribly since he’s gotten here or if it’s that even though he doesn't deserve it, your here standing in his door way looking for his confirmation in order to comfort him but he immediately bursts into tears. Again
And nearly starts sobbing when you take on the soothing voice he thought he hated so much and says “Oh, honey! It's okay I’m here.”
“It’s okay, it’s okay to cry sweetheart.”
“I promise. I’m not mad. You can never make me mad honey.”
That’s what truly sets him off, so he does. Oh does he cry. He cries in your arms for hours, minutes, days, he doesn't know but after the tears have run out, the sniffles have subsided, and now that you’ve wiped all the wetness and snot off his face, he allows himself to fully sink into your arms. And be subdued by the warmth you provide and that soothing voice repeating praises to him, lulling him to sleep.
It’s when he’s on the brink of slumber, he feels a pair of lips press onto his head and he thinks to himself; he doesn't mind the comforting, and coddling at all. Because this feels nice. So nice. Oh yeah, he definitely doesn't hate you. Not one bit.
Hope you enjoy lovelys! - Yella <;33

Feeling the urge to write a Reverse Robins AU to explore the ideas of:
A Damian who came to meet Batman at the beginning of his career. Probably came from meeting Talia sometime during his training, whether or not he knew who she was. A Damian who’s had more time to learn what the world is like outside the League. This Damian sees Bruce as more of an older brother figure due to his absolute inexperience with kids. They work through the beginning stages of their vigilante careers as a team. Unfortunately, Bruce is still a controlling person by reflex, and once Damian realizes there’s still more for him to learn about himself, he leaves. He learns how to be gentle and kind and everything the League said was weakness after that, when he’s on his own and exploring life completely on his own terms.
Tim coming to Bruce after Damian leaves to go on his own. Tim not having an older brother figure like Dick was to him, because Damian experiences the same anger at being ‘replaced’ as Dick did with Jason. This Tim working tirelessly not only to prove himself to Bruce, but to earn Damian’s approval too. It leads him astray more than once until it goes horribly wrong, and they find his body in Sarajevo. This Tim wakes up from the Lazarus Pit in the care of the League, but he isn’t angry when Talia shows him the photos of the new Robin. He never felt like a part of Batman’s family. Why would they mourn him? He learns what he needs and goes back to Gotham with a new moral code, and a careful detachment from his old partners.
Jason stealing the tires off the Batmobile, only to be taken in by a grieving Batman. He lives in Wayne Manor, but he also lives in Tim’s shadow, shoes impossible to fill. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t try, but the longer he goes with Bruce looking at the ghost of his dead son and not Jason, the angrier he gets. Meanwhile, Damian, who realizes just how bad he fucked up with Tim, slowly tries to bond with the newest family member. Jason latches on to a good relationship, and the two grow close as brothers. Damian lives in Bludhaven, though, and Jason begins to fight with Bruce. He ends up going off on his own often, where he runs into the vigilante Bruce has been hunting: a League trained killer who knows the Bats too well. He gets to know this vigilante, and starts to see him as a friend. Maybe even a brother.
Dick, coming into a family already versed in raising kids. A boy full of rage meets a man grown from hate into kindness, an estranged young man learning he wasn’t just an asset, and a teenager who cares so honestly about everyone around him, just at the moment when their father dies. Vanished. Tim refuses to believe he’s gone, and goes looking. Damian doesn’t believe him. Jason does, but he refuses to leave Gotham in Batman’s absence. Dick doesn’t get any of that. He gets that he’s been adopted and immediately lost that father figure. He gets angrier, and is subsequently met with Damian’s gentle reassurance that they will get justice for his parents. Dick growing into the Robin mantle with healthy outlets for his anger, learning not to keep it all inside.
Yeah :)

Murder Girlfriends or something like that...
I don't know how I got here but I've been plagued with the thought of writing a Tim/Jaime fic except they're both girls and bi... (I'm projecting but anywho...)
So this is set in S3 of Young Justice, and around the time I think Bart and Eduardo started dating (idc what you say, I'm positive they have something for each other)
Say during the invasion Jaime and Bart had something going on and Bart absolutely enamored Jaime but when Eduardo showed up Bart fell in love with him as well just a little more than he was with Jaime.
So ofc he breaks it off with Jaime saying "Maybe in another life." and she's devastated because she loved her fluffy-haired boy.
So Jaime starts avoiding team outings that involve most of the team couples as she would just be third-wheeling the entire time and the jealousy she would feel ofc.
Tim on the other hand spends more time in Gotham than with the Team in the Watchtower or the Hub as she's not that close with people there (I mean DC practically took away her team, her shtick, and her friends so that leaves us with her Gothamite and assassin friends)
That is attributed to most of the Team members not being really accepting of her when she became Robin as they thought she was trying to replace Jason (which rude much, didn't he replace Dick too?)
So she had a few friends some she lost when she joined Batman Inc. She still has Steph and Cass though so she's not complaining. She broke up with her girlfriend Cassie and hasn't seen any sign of them getting back together.
Somewhere along the line Jaime starts going to the Watchtower and finds Robin there. They fight a bit because she was one of Tim's close friends before she left to join Batman Inc.
Then slowly she opens up to Tim about her feelings and how things have changed. Tim is an awkward bean but comforts her. Jaime frequently visits the Watchtower after that and Tim opens up to her after a while. She tells her about being JJ, how she feels inadequate, and yadda yadda all that.. One day Tim invites her to Gotham at night and teaches her how to train surf and use her grapple (which is unnecessary but still sweet) Tension rises but the sweet kind and oh...Jaime's falling in love again and Tim has butterflies in her tummy for some weird reason.
Then Batman dies (or so they think) and Tim thinks otherwise but others tell her she's just grieving. (At this point it's mid-season four ig, I'm really straying away from cannon)
Dick is Batman and Tim is still Robin because Damian hasn't been introduced yet and is still with the league...do you see where I'm headed?
Tim dips after she finds the first clue Bruce left when he way yeeted into the time stream and makes plenty of fake aliases and assassin friends on the way.
I want to find a way to incorporate her trying to clone someone close to her but idk who.
The scene where Cassie finds Tim is replaced with Jaime but she's encouraging Tim to look for Bruce and tells her to call when she needs help.
Since she doesn't wanna tarnish the Robin name, she makes a new alias to work with Ra's.
In the cave where the assassin from the Council of Spiders tries to off them, Tim calls Jaime. She's stuck bleeding out on the floor with three half-dead assassins.
Jaime answers the call and gets them to Tim's hotel where they're abducted by League Ninjas and taken to Nanda Parbat. Tim's thrown into the pit after losing too much blood during the splenectomy and Jaime's being held captive.
I'm just world-building rn but would this be a good fic or should I just scrap the idea?

Dont Blame the Boy
DpxDc Prompt
Bruce was no stranger to taking in children into his home considering the many he called his own. So he was no stranger to the struggles of a new family member, each of his children had been different.
Dick had been out for blood when Bruce first took him into his home. The boy grieving for his parents was set on revenge and had promised to make there killer pay. How different he was now compared to the child he first brought home.
Then there was Jason who at first was angry and miss understood. But as time went he began to see the book loving boy who loved to learn. He was always enthusiastic to learn but he could be brash and hard headed at first. Jason still held a great love for learning but the young man was no loner as open with the family and he had developed quite a dark sense of humor.
Tim of course was a kind and smart young man with a love for knowledge. The boy was a natural genius though he did need some encouragement at first.
Bruce could go on and on about them and his other children. He was proud of how far they had all come with Damian the most recent addition before now.
Now though he was faced with a challenge, he was faced with young Daniel or Danny as the boy preferred. Danny had only lived in the manner for about 2 months now and still they had no progress of pulling the boy out of his shell.
Bruce had been reluctant at first to take in such an unstable child but when he met the boy he couldn’t say no. Seeing such pain and distrust in the boys eyes broke Bruce’s heart.
Danny had fallen victim to his parents over a year ago when they had decided he was something no longer human and as such needed to be researched. They had experimented on there own child for over a year before the boy finally broke. The boy had snapped after all the tournament they had put him through before he went on a rage filled massacre.
To put it lightly there wasn’t much left of the Fentons by the time the police arrived to investigate a call made by some concerned citizens.
With the state of the lab and Danny himself the police had called in the League for assistance where Danny was then rushed to the tower for emergency care.
Danny had been in a medically induced coma for over a month because of his violent reaction to anyone who approached him. And after he was put through intensive therapy mental and physical with several doctors.
It had been months sense then and the boy no longer acted like a caged animal but he was still very much an animal, lashing out when he felt threatened or cornered, retreating when things became to much and he didn’t blame him.
Bruce understood why the boy didn’t trust people, didn’t trust adults. After years of people failing him and the year of torment? He didn’t blame him.
Bruce didn’t blame the boy though and he was certain that with time and care Danny would come out of his shell and join the rest of the flock but till then they would work the best they could to make him feel safe and comfortable.
No he didn’t blame the boy at all

Had a dream the other night where Tim learned from a young age that if there was one thing that made sad, middle aged men feel better, it was knocking up a cute pussy
It started with his own dad, who seemed so sad and lonely all the time, and would admit to Tim that he and Janet just weren't in love anymore. This broke Tim's heart, and so he sat on his dad's lap to hug him. He's only wearing a nightgown tho, so when Jack grinds against Tim's pussy he feels it, and he /loves/ it. Twenty minutes later and Jack has Tim thrown over his desk and is pounding into his little pussy hard and fast. They fuck often from here on out, and it doesn't occur to either of them to maybe be careful, and by the time one of them does think of it, Tim is already pregnant (finally after 12 long years of being an only child, Tim is finally getting the baby brother or sister he's always wanted!)
He's worried about Jack's reaction but his dad is over the moon at the news, having always wanted more than one child, but Janet never wanting to deal with another one. At this point, Jack is home most of the time while Janet is almost never in Gotham, constantly going from place to place for their company while Jack stays home and fucks his pregnant, 12 year old slut of a son.
When Tim has his baby brother, it's only about two or three months before he's pregnant again. After his second brother is born, Jack brings something up one day.
"you've always been interested in the business, right Timmy?" Tim perks up and nods his head gently, not wanting to disturb the two week old nursing from his full little tit. "Well, how would you like to join me for a meeting in a few weeks? We can have a nanny watch the boys for the evening, and I can show you how you can help the company"
Tim's eyes shine. "I can help right now? Don't I have to be older?" And Jack smirks reaching out and pinching the unoccupied nipple, making Tim whine and squirm at the pleasure. "normally, yes, you would have to be older. But I have the perfect job for you. Sound good?" And Tim nods eagerly (he is surprised when later that night, after the babies are asleep, Jack fucks him hard and fast and then /pulls out/, coming on Tim's chest and face. Typically his dad likes to come deep in Tim's pussy, and Tim figured they would start trying for another baby now that he's gotten the all clear from their private doctor to have sex again)
A month later, and Jack brings Tim to a meeting of DI investors. It's boring and dull and Tim nearly falls asleep near the end, but then his dad excuses everyone but three men, and finally Tim learns about what his new job is
Jack let's the highest payer fuck and knock up his son, who is a proven breeder, having two babies before he was even 14. Tim is apprehensive but also incredibly turned on by the idea of being nothing better than a baby factory, just a little body designed to get knocked up and push out babies. He is fucked that night by some old man whose name he doesn't bother remembering, and he visits for the next three weeks to fuck Tim and fill him with come until the test comes back positive
These men are only paying for the pleasure of breeding Tim, and while they get video and picture updates as his pregnancy progresses, in the end, when the baby is born, they're Tim's and only Tim's, which is just how he likes it. 5 months before he turns 15, Tim has his first little girl
A month after she's born and Tim is ready for another one, but he manages to convince his father to contact Bruce Wayne, who is grieving the loss of his son, Jason. Tim thinks he can help Mr. Wayne overcome his grief and move on (and hopefully Batman will get better as a result, Tim has seen how violent Batman has been getting since Jason died) if he offers to give him a baby of his own. It works and Bruce fucks him brutally, like an animal, and Tim has never come so hard in his life
When he's 2 months pregnant, his mother dies. When he's 7 months pregnant, his father is murdered. Tim mourns his father (his mother not so much, she was never really around enough for Tim to miss) and is quickly invited to live with the Wayne's next door, along with his 3 - soon to be 4 - babies
Once he has Bruce's baby, the older man is quick to knock Tim up a second time, much to Tim's glee. By the time that baby is born, Jim Gordon is going through a divorce and a scandal, and Tim can't let him be so miserable all the time, not when he has a way to help! It helped his dad, after all, and Bruce as well. So he lets the commissioner bend him over the bat signal one night and knock his little 16-almost-17 year old pussy up with his sixth baby
After this, Tim let's Dick get him pregnant, and then Bruce again, and from there his reputation grows until he's got a plan to let almost every man on the JL fuck him and knock him up. He's booked solid for the next few years: after he has Bruce's baby, he gives one to Oliver, then Hal, then Arthur, then Barry, Clark finally joins in after being unsure about all of this, Bruce again, and a handful more JL members, some of the Teen Titans, too
Everyone is so happy and content to have Tim as their slutty little broodmare, and Tim is just happy to help (and being fucked pregnant so often is an added bonus, ofc, as well as all of his sweet little babies)
But yeah my dream was basically just
Tim, talking to an older man: you seem sad. Would knocking me up help you feel better 🥺
(spoiler alert: it does)
YES YES YES YESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE BREEDER TIM!!!!
tim knowing that the cure for depression is his pussy 🥺.
him getting fucked by his dad and having his own siblings, having a child with a DI investor who lets tim 'keep' the baby.
BRUCE!!! adopting tim when his parents both die and fucking him like an animal at the offer of giving him a baby. and then doing it again!!! him fuckign tim throughout his entire pregnancy because tim is so good at taking him despite being so small and bruce feels something other than pain and anger when buried balls deep into the pussy of this underaged slut.
then gordon (i'm so happy that gordon is here!!!!) fucking this little pocket pussy full of his cum and getting another red-haired baby out of it.
tim getting passed around the justice league!!!!! some of them are doing it because they want more kids and others because they find out they have a breeding kink by listening to others. either way tim gets more sweet little babies and a guarantee of a long list of fathers that will keep him full and swelled up with children. just how he likes 🤗!!!!!!!!!!

Watched a video about introducing Robin to Matt Reeve's Batman, and reading the comments, it's clear most people want Dick Grayson and I get it, he's the first one, he's the original, most people only know Robin as Dick (and Tim but whatever) but I just think Jason Todd in The Batman's Gotham would fit so so well.
With this movie we got to see Gotham in a way i don't think we've ever seen in any other Batman movies, it felt real and immersive. What about introducing a character that live's in these streets? That deals with the city in a way someone like Bruce Wayne never will? I think that would be interesting and it would fit very well with the overall feel of this new Batman.
I want to watch Battinson help a kid who grew up too fast, help him be a boy again, realize they're so similar, they both lost their parents at such a young age, but Bruce had support, Alfred and money, and he realizes that he can help this kid, give him a good life. I want Bruce and Jason to be father and son. I want Jason to want to be Robin. I want Bruce to be hesitant about letting his kid, who's so young, be a part of Batman and his dangerous world but giving in because he just wants his boy to be happy. And I want Bruce to grieve when eventually Jason dies.
Red Hood would also fit perfectly in this Gotham so..
I realize Robin wouldn't be possible without Dick Grayson and it's his creation and I don't mind him being in this new Batman but I don't want to miss the chance of having Jason Todd and Red Hood in this perfect imperfect Gotham.

Okay okay okay so I love that someone (finally!!) mentioned a Hamilton song and I do adore your concept for it, but I couldn’t quite shake this brain baby so please consider this if you will;
Title: Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story
Summary: Jason lived, Dick died, and Bruce told his story.
Basically premise goes that Jason and Dick are young — like season 1 of Young Justice if you’ve watched that? — and Jason is new to the family, blah blah blah. Dick obviously saves him and in the process, dies, which Jason initially cannot fathom given he’s used to fending for himself (street rat, and all that). Insert some existential crisis…
Bruce obviously has to make a statement to the press given how high-profile Richard Grayson is (maybe a press conference? Would this situation call for one?) and he essentially tells the story of how Dick saved Jason but in “civilian terms”
(Though the incident could be either hero or civilian… like a kidnapping gone wrong or if Jason snuck out as “Robin Jr.” and Dick died saving him that would be hella angsty too, but I digress)
and once he’s done, he shuts himself away to grieve. Or whatever emotionally constipated bats do… Point is, Alfred has to step in and assure Jason that Bruce does not hate/blame him for Dick’s death. He then gets fed up with the miscommunication — or rather, the complete lack of — and very pointedly, though in true subtle-Alfred-fashion, nudges both in the other’s direction.
(TBH Bruce would probably be like… holding Dick’s favourite hoodie or something and bring like “What should I do, Dickie? The only reason I knew I could even be a parent was because of you.”
I also personally HC that Jason actually really looked up to Dick before his death at Joker’s hands, so maybe they got close really quickly and/or that would also be a major factor in his guilt/survivor’s guilt.)
And when they (finally) talk, Jason eventually musters up the courage to ask what Dick was like, etc. Bruce smiles, all sad and bitter and heartbroken but it’s still a smile, and he begins to tell Jason his favourite — and sometimes heart-attack-inducing — memories of Dick.
Potential ending/epilogue? Doesn’t fit with the “Bruce told his story” but I thought this was cute;
And then when Tim comes along, Jason feels a terrible ache in his chest, because he knows what Dick would’ve done if he were told he had a new little brother: he would’ve glomped the poor kid, grinning so hard his face might as well split in two, crooning and babbling joyful nonsense, while Jason would stand off to the side, throwing light jabs his way but smiling all the same. His heart chest hurts because Dick isn’t here to do that, and as hard as Jason might try, he will never be a good substitute for their real big brother, who lived only in the memories of those who had known him.
And with a jolt, Jason realized that wasn’t enough. It wouldn’t be enough, it would never be enough. So he tells Tim all about their oldest brother; the first Robin; the original child hero; Batman’s first partner; Bruce’s first son.
Dick may have died years ago, but Jason was determined to keep him alive with his words, if nothing else.
When Steph is integrated into the family, Tim tells her about the origins of the Robin mantle. He tells her the stories Jason had passed down to him, about how one eight-year-old boy had changed the superhero community forever. He tells her about his acrobatic skills, his signature cackle, his insane hacking skills and his tendency to disappear in the shadows much like Batman. But he also tells her about his nerdy side, about how he was a mathlete in Gotham Academy and he tells her about his innate need to butcher the English language, swapping prefixes and suffixes as he pleased, all the while confusing — and exasperating — those around him with new words.
When Cass comes, on the nights she can’t sleep for the unfamiliarity with actual beds and a previously-unknown silence that didn’t necessarily mean bad things, Steph tells her all about the one brother who is probably the most important part of not just Gotham’s history, but their adoptive family’s history. She tells her about the stories Tim had passed down to her, and even some that she had wrangled from Alfred and the Justice League. She places subtle emphasis on Dick’s proneness to nightmares on specific nights, and how he had never hesitated to seek comfort from touch; from people he trusted and loved. She tells Cass about his unrelenting optimism, his admirably fast thinking under high-pressure situations and his unshakable loyalty to his allies. She says Cass would’ve gotten along with him, she thinks, had they the chance the meet. They would’ve matched wits quite well, and she was told Dick was one of the few who could pin the Batman on the mats.
And when Damian, just shy of two years, is discovered and brought home, Cass sneaks into his room at night and hooks her feet on the base of the cradle, pushing herself up over the railings to observe the baby. And she whispers stories to him, stories of the brother all but one of them have never met — and never will meet — but has regardless left a lasting impression on their family; left a legacy for them to continue; gave them a saving grace not only through a paternally-realized Batman, but through the Robin mantle; the one who started it all.
Bruce wasn’t the only one telling Dick Grayson’s story anymore.
…okay i admit the ending got away from me. This was supposed to be a short brain baby summary only 😭 anyways, hope you like!!
Wow you put a lot more thought into this than I did haha! It definitely is still a bittersweet ending since Dick is still dead, but I like the idea that everyone is telling Dick's story and not just Bruce. There would definitely be a lot of guilt on Jason's part, and Bruce probably lashed out at him once or twice in the beginning like he did with Dick when Jason died in the comics. I think he would lash out and then immediately hate himself because he knows Dick would be so disappointed in the way he is treating Jason, and that probably partially helps him fix his relationship with Jason.
I imagine too that after a period of leaving him alone, Jason would start trying to get Bruce to open up again and that's when Bruce lashes out because he remembers Dick doing the same for him when Bruce got particularly broody, but the way Jason does it is not quite the same which upsets Bruce because he knows his boy will never try to cheer him up again.
