I honestly was kind of ambivalent towards star wars until i realized that it's less sci-fi than it is an epic fantasy set in space.

Posters on your wall growing up: Star Wars and dragons. When I was a teenager, I actually drew flowers on my walls. I made a whole little flower bed around my room. It was really sweet.
Food fight food: Something that's not going to turn me into a murderer. A banana, maybe, or a plantain.
High school fashion statement: I wasn't big with fashion when I was in high school. When I was in high school, I was not really sure who I was. I was trying to figure out how do I fit in, and I was trying to follow like what I was supposed to look like or what was like society telling me. For the longest time, I kind of felt like things never really fit right. Things for either too tight or too loose. And it never really felt right. It wasn't until my twenties and I was like, “Oh, okay, this feels like a bit more aligned with myself.” If you see photos of me in high school, there's a lot of like baggy shirts and baggy jeans.
What would teenage Vico-Con include: A lot of dragons. A hyperfixation on swords and lightsabers.  I actually had a journal that I doodled all the different types of lightsaber handles from all the different Star Wars characters, and then I could mash up the storylines.  Star Wars, dragons, fairies, elves, and magic. I love magic. Magic in general. And swords, just like, sharp objects.

Example of a "true AU" would be something like "Star Wars, but set in a high-fantasy setting." (For example, all the lightsaber duels have been replaced with sword fights or magic duels, and the space fights with magic-powered airships.) So the plot and characters remain the same, but the story is transposed to a new setting or genre.
An example of a "what if" AU would be "Star Wars but Luke and Leia were raised together." So it's the same setting, but some key plot elements (character dynamics or roles, events, etc.) have been changed.
Btw, when I exclude fanfic from this, I don't do it because of pretentiousness or anything. Fanfic is fucking awesome. I just exclude it because AUs are already such a defined part of fanfic and fanfic culture. I'm curious to see if people who don't write fanfic (though there is a lot of overlap, I know) also come up with AUs for their characters, and to what extent.

Tumblr media
Gyomei Himejima
He heard you panicking on the side of the road, and you sounded like you didn’t know where you were. He assumed that it was because you were a demon, and he opted to take his weapon out and end your misery.
He didn’t expect any resistance, but his fellow Hashira gasped. You used some of your magic as well as a bit of futuristic technology to protect yourself. You’ve seen an anime like this, and explained that you weren’t a demon.
They led you to Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and he told them that you had the making of a demon slayer. You spent a few days making your own sword, and when you showed it, Gyomei could feel the heat radiating off of it.
He immediately treats your little brother like his own. He’s a people person, so he absolutely loves Ortho with all of his heart. He would teach and train him how to swing a normal blade before handing him his ax and spiked flail.
He personally wouldn’t want you to become a Hashira because of the danger it always poses to them. He’s happy to see that you are on board with not becoming one, so you both agreed that you would train so that you could defend yourself in case you were ever attacked.
He’s always amazed by the things you do with technology. You’ve taught him, Obanai, Ubayashiki braille and you would teach it to the other Hashira as well. That way, the three (Obanai is partially blind) could read the letters they were sent on their own.
Tumblr media
Mitsuri Kanroji
Would probably be able to tell you weren’t a demon because she has never seen a demon with fire for hair. Plus you give off emotions rather than apatheticness. She would try to calm you down by kneeling down to your level, speaking to you softly.
The other Hashira were warning her to get up and get away because you were surely a demon since you had sharp teeth. She softly reprimanded them, talking about how rude it was to assume someone was a demon when you didn’t know if they had ever consumed anyone.
She personally led you to the master of the Hashira, and he told them that you had the intelligence and wit befitting a demon slayer. You set out to gather the materials needed to make your own sword because you saw a few flaws with the originals. Mitsuri would stay by your side and watch as you built your own lightsaber, and she’d be so in awe.
She absolutely loves your little brother. They are both very outgoing and try to get you outside as much as possible. Of course, because Mitsuri and Ortho are on their knees, you opt to sit under a tree outside and watch as the two play with each other.
She wants you to become a Hashira because then the two of you can stay together forever, but she understands your refusal. It’s dangerous, hard, and sometimes fatal, but it can be rewarding because you’re saving humans in their losing battle.
She’s also in awe at your swift mind and knowledge of technology. With you, they both have a tactical advantage over demons. You have upgraded all of their swords and (when you can find him) Haganezuka and you collaborate a lot. She loves how you’re spreading your social circle!
Tumblr media
Giyu Tomioka
He most definitely noticed your fiery hair in the midst of the snow. You didn’t even hear him before he was on you. When you heard the shing from his blade, you whipped around and wrestled with him.
I’m not a demon! You whispered out of fear. You’ve seen an anime similar to this world that you magically teleported to, so you had some idea of what to expect… just forget about what happened in the last paragraph.
He decided that it would be the best decision to take you to Ubuyashiki to pay for his unfortunate mistake. There, all the Hashira were surprised when their master deemed you fit to be a demon slayer. You were honored, but decided that you were going to make your own sword.
Alright, so Giyu doesn’t talk a lot. Your brother is the exception. Ortho reminds him of Sabito and Makomo. You will often see him and your brother having a conversation with each other, and you once saw Giyu giving your brother a piggyback ride.
He doesn’t want you to become a demon slayer at all, if he’s being honest. Forget being a Hashira, being a demon slayer means you could possibly die at any point on your journey. You compromise and he trains you to at least be able to defend yourself.
He’s very impressed by your extensive knowledge and strives to know more about how to use the technology you create in battle. You’ve even helped out his master by making a weaponized cane for him so that he may be a little more independent.
Tumblr media
Tengen Uzui
He thought your hair looked absolutely flashy, but mistook it as your demon blood art and decided that although you looked beautiful, you needed to die. It would be horrible if you killed any citizens, after all.
He wasn’t exactly quiet, so you yelled that you weren’t a demon and that’s just how you looked. He and his wives immediately put their weapons down and looked. You seemed to be absolutely terrified. Then Suma ran over and gave you a hug, apologizing.
Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru were all fawning over you as Tengen led you all back to Ubuyashiki. This would be one awkward thing to explain. The 4 were surprised when he deemed you strong and intelligent enough to become a demon slayer yourself. Once the words left his mouth, you immediately went to work for your own sword.
The 4 absolutely adore your younger brother, and he adores them back. You often see your 3 wives (Tengen most definitely married you) cooing over him and him hugging each of them back. Tengen ‘ruffles’ Ortho’s hair whenever he sees him as a greeting.
They want to keep you safe and therefore don’t want you to become a Hashira at all, but they leave it up to you. You can not imagine the relief they felt when you said that you would rather wait for them to come home after a mission. They decided that you would be trained for combat on the off-chance something happens at home.
All the wives are so impressed by how smart you are, and once you piece together plans they each give you a kiss on the forehead while Tengen kisses you on the lips. They are just so amazed by your tactical genius that they feel the need to reward you (you are most definitely getting spoiled).
Tumblr media
Sanemi Shinazugawa
Was most definitely about to murder you. No question about it. But he would have if he didn’t yell while swinging his blade. You see, he had seen you on the side of the road, and he obviously noticed the blue flames that your hair is made up of.
Because you heard him, you whipped your head around and shouted that you weren’t a demon but you were, in fact, human. He stopped mid-swing and tumbled to the ground so he wouldn’t hurt you. After all, it was against the rules of the Demon Slayer Corp to fight a human.
It was one awkward walk back to Master Ubuyashiki. Not only were you anti-social, but this dude just tried to kill you. Of course it was going to be awkward. But once Sanemi told his master what had occurred, he deemed you fit to be a demon slayer. You had literal stars in your eyes and went to work making your lightsaber. Sanemi acted like he wasn’t impressed, when it was just the opposite.
Your brother reminds him of his, so he will immediately soften up towards the two of you. You can often spot him telling stories of his travels to Ortho while using his hands to emphasize it all. It’s rather endearing, a trait Sanemi isn’t used to hearing.
He wants to make sure you remain safe and protected at all times, so he will implore you – even beg you – not to become a Hashira. He most definitely is very relieved when you say that you won’t try to become one and would opt to stay back instead of actively fighting.
He loves your mind and all the knowledge it can hold. Every time you help the Hashira come up with a plan and everyone is immediately on-board, he turns to you and gives you a kiss on the forehead. It’s one of the few times you see him soft and loving, so you enjoy it as much as you can.
Tumblr media
Shinobu Kocho
She’s very swift and silent on her feet, so you weren’t able to hear her. It was only when you felt the whoosh of the wind behind you that you rolled out of the way. You were obviously terrified of what just happened but managed to whisper something.
I’m human. That stopped her swing as she looked at you in both shock and amusement. She noticed that you weren’t using anything besides your hands to defend yourself. She quickly backed up and apologized, for once unsure of what to do.
It was a quiet walk to Ubuyashiki. It wasn’t uncomfortable (surprisingly), but Shinobu would make little comments here and there. She was delighted to hear that her master deemed you capable of becoming a demon slayer. That means she could keep you by her side!
She also loves Ortho. She thinks he’s absolutely adorable and reminds her of Kanao. She would be the one to treat any injuries and would even try and help you when upgrading him because it’s a two-person job.
She leaves the option up to you if you want to seek to become a Hashira. She wishes you wouldn’t because look at what happened to her older sister. She tried not to let it show, but you knew that she was scared. She was scared about you being taken away the same way her sister was.
You both rival each other when it comes to basic intelligence, but you learn from each other every single day. You teach her about technology that could possibly help her in the medical field, and she tells you about medicine that can help you with your technology.
Tumblr media
Kyojuro Rengoku
He’s not silent either. Would do the whole ‘yelling while swinging’, and it gave you enough of an alarm to dodge his strike. You were still completely in shock to see a big, tough dude smiling and striking at the same time.
You shouted to him that you weren’t a demon. This caused him to stop in his tracks. You explained (through plenty of stutters) that you were magical and that’s why your hair was made out of flames and you had sharp teeth.
He saw some potential inside of you, and was happy to hear that his master thought the same after taking you to him. You had such an adorable spark in your eye as you immediately rushed to gather the materials you needed for your sword. He followed you and watched as you put that brilliant mind of yours to work.
Absolutely loves Ortho and sees his own little brother in him. They both actively try to get you outside and you like the moments where you lay your head on his lap as the three of you sit under a tree. He often tells you both stories of times past.
He would also get a bit scared when everyone says you would make a wonderful Hashira. You even get a bit nervous with all these comments as you politely say that you wouldn’t at all and you would rather stay back for Kyojuro. Not only did you cause him to let out a great sigh of relief, but you made him flustered when you said that you would rather wait for your lover’s return.
He always compliments you about how absolutely smart you are. Often, when you both wake up together, he will place his hands on the sides of your face and place a kiss on your forehead. He will often leave little notes around the house for you to discover so that while he’s out, he can imagine your flustered face as you read them.

Ahsoka Episode 8 “The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord”: The Story, the Symbolism, and the Score Part One
As the episode begins, we hear sinister drumming, then a low rumbling as the cargo transfer to the Chimaera is completed. Thrawn orders the dispatch of two TIE fighters. Sinister music plays as Morgan receives the “gift of shadows.” As she makes her pledge to the sisterhood and the old ways, Morgan’s Theme (the Nightsister Theme) is heard. Morgan’s eyes glow green and then turn black as power is transferred to her by the Nightmothers. Morgan receives the Blade of Talzin, a reference to the sword used by Mother Talzin in The Clone Wars animated series.
Thrawn’s Theme plays triumphantly as the Ahsoka title card and the episode title appear onscreen: “The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord.” This title is an obvious reference to C. S. Lewis’ novel The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and it isn’t the first reference to Lewis’ Narnia books in the Filoniverse. The World Between Worlds itself was inspired by Lewis’ “wood between the worlds” which allows passage across time and space to other worlds.
Tumblr media
The title of the episode does have a deeper meaning, but this may not be apparent until one has watched and fully understood what the episode is really about. The “Jedi” in the title is Ahsoka, who corresponds to Lewis’ Aslan, the magnificent golden lion who is the Christ-figure in the Narnia books, not unlike Tolkien’s Gandalf. The “Witch” in the title is Morgan Elsbeth and all of the evil that she and the White Witch of Narnia represent. The “Warlord” is Thrawn, who will travel between the galaxies just as the magic wardrobe in the Narnia books allowed passage between the worlds. Lewis’ novel is about many things, but at its core, it is a story about redemption. In the novel, young Edmund Pevensie, in his selfish desire for Turkish Delight, makes an a dangerous alliance with the White Witch and betrays his siblings to get what he wants. He later regrets this betrayal and repents of his selfishness. However Edmund’s debt must be paid. Instead of dying a traitor’s death, Aslan is sacrificed in Edmund’s place. The White Witch slays the Lion, but due to the Deep Magic from before the dawn of time, Aslan resurrects triumphantly and defeats the Witch.
Sabine Wren, whose all-to-human desire to be reunited with Ezra Bridger, led her to make an alliance with Baylan Skoll in episode 4 of the Ahsoka series. Sabine didn’t destroy the star-map because of her selfish desire to see Ezra again, and by making this choice, she set in motion the return of Thrawn and the possibility of another galactic war. By making this selfish but understandable choice, Sabine failed as a Jedi. As in Edmund’s story, Sabine is on a journey towards redemption for what she’s done.
Tumblr media
The next scene is of Ahsoka’s ship hovering low above the traveling Noti pods. Onboard the ship Huyang and Ezra bicker as Ezra constructs a new lightsaber for himself.
“Who taught you how to build a lightsaber anyway?” Huyang asks.
“Kanan Jarrus,” replies Sabine Wren from the doorway of the workshop. She smiles at Ezra.
Tumblr media
“He was my master,” Ezra says, his glance lingering upon Sabine for a moment. “He taught me everything I know.”
Tumblr media
Quiet music accompanies this conversation. When Huyang says that the relationship between master and apprentice is as challenging as it is meaningful, the camera pulls in closer to reveal Sabine’s expression, which shows sadness and even remorse.
A quiet rendition of Sabine’s Theme is heard as Ezra completes the construction of his new lightsaber. When Ezra asks “Hey Sabine, Ahsoka ever teach you how to…?” he turns to looks at her and sees that she is gone.
Ezra asks Huyang what happened between Sabine and Ahsoka. Huyang tells Ezra about the Purge of Mandalore, and that Ahsoka felt that if Sabine unlocked her potential at that time she would become dangerous.
Sabine exits the ship to talk with Ahsoka who is sitting atop the shuttle as it hovers. Soft strings accompany the conversation. Ahsoka’s Theme is heard, which is then followed by Sabine’s Theme played by cellos. Ahsoka knows what Sabine did but says that she will be there for her no matter what happens next. They discuss whether Sabine has kept up with her training.
“Being a Jedi isn’t about wielding a lightsaber,” Ahsoka explains. “Train your mind. Train your body. Trust in the Force.”
Ezra exits the ship, announcing that he just finished building his new lightsaber.
The music is much louder as two TIE fighters open fire upon them and the Noti caravan. Ahsoka’s ship takes a hit. Ahsoka and Ezra levitate it to save the Noti from being crushed. Sabine and Huyang attempt to pilot the damaged ship. On Sabine’s signal, Ezra and Ahsoka hurl the ship towards the two TIEs and the wings of the T-6 shuttle clip them, destroying both of their attackers. Ezra and Ahsoka run to the site of the crashed T-6.
“Got ‘em” Sabine says to them after exiting the smoking shuttle. She surveys the damage to the Noti pods. Ezra remarks that this will slow them down a bit, but Ahsoka responds “only if we let it.”
End of part one. To be continued! Let me know what you think of this analysis so far. It’s going to be a long one.

thinking abt night dual wielding false “darksabers” 😳 like what if these were imbued with sith magic, and like a parasite, they slowly possesses the wielder if used long enough...the shorter saber functions as a dagger, with the other as the primary sword.
more lore under the cut!
instagram ( instagram.com/fishermanarts ) twitter ( mobile.twitter.com/fishermanarts ) side twitter ( mobile.twitter.com/fishermantalks ) shop ( www.etsy.com/shop/FishermanArtsStudio ) ko-fi ( ko-fi.com/fishermanarts )
fun fact, long exposure to the sabers triggers the host to not only undergo a unique kind of rapid “decomposition” but the inky tar their bodies turn into develop force neutralizing properties. attacks like force grab, choke, or lightning are relatively useless. these properties will fade if the host is kept away from the sabers. if an opponent attempts to dismember the host with a lightsaber, the lost limbs can regrow or reattach. the kyber crystals of lightsabers that come into constant direct contact with the tar become prone to “infection”, which would eat at the crystal itself. infected crystals eventually become unable to be ignited.
what other little information exists of these sabers have largely been lost to time. palpatine once expressed some interest in them and wanted to see what they were capable of, but of course he wouldn't test them on himself. so what better candidate to do so under the guise of “relocating an asset to a secure location”  than commander night- a reclusive and disposable clone who already operated more or less out of the public eye. however, when even palpatine himself was unable to control the sabers after they’d attached themselves to night, he decided to lock them away in the ruins of a sith temple. if he couldnt have them, no one could.
centuries later, night isn’t much more than a mindless vessel of sith goop and a myth. it’s in the sabers’ prideful nature to seek out challengers, and so they lie dormant until a new, fresh and living host enters the temple. stormtroopers or even scavengers who make the mistake of setting foot into the temple simply never come back out.

For the logistics of a “fire” sword. Make the sword out of a strong metal that is a fantastic conductor without melting. Wrap the grip in something insulating that won’t be damaged by or let through extreme heat, and stick a source of energy that can be translated into heat onto either the Pommel, or slid into a hollow fuller. So the sword would burn what it touches/slices through. Effectively cauterizing any wounds he makes with it. Without any exposed flame that could get blown around or out by moving/swinging/wind
Omg so you've given him a lightsaber. Yeah I think a sword could work if there isn't much exposed flame.
Honestly I'm not even complaining against a fire sword much, I just don't like the idea of Tommy having to have some sort of magical item or element to fit in with the others. Sometimes your family is two sorcerers, an old man in the woods, and a child who grows up to become a really damn good fighter

Jack is stopping Vlad with his lightsaber before the Bond can do any harm. (Insult Lightsaber Sword Fighting™ is an old Vlad-Jack tradition.) Vlad the Bond: "No one will tear Ji Ho and Vlad apart!"
Tumblr media
Rubyn: "I don't think they are taking this serious enough..."
Jack: "Well, my green friend and I have an update: we will tear YOU apart!"
Tumblr media
Eventually, after a few more insults, Jack defeated Vlad/the Bond. Jeb: "Had it been you who killed the others in other Jeb and Jack's timeline?" Vlad was devastated. Had he? Gods.
Tumblr media
Vlad: "We need to cut the Bond! Why did the other Jeb say we can't? I'm going to stay here with Ji Ho and we go to Francine to cut that damn Bond before it kills us!" Rubyn: "Maybe Vlad is right. With all the information we gathered here, I can easily finish my research on the meteorites without the Bond..." Jack: "I don't think Vlad killed them. He wasn't there either, only Jeb and me. And I don't think the Bond would have killed Ji Ho. Other Jeb and other I had a plan. Trust us, hm? Malfoy and I can keep Vlad the Bond at bay until you figuered out how to use the meteorites to travel and Ji Ho joins us again. Ji Ho and Vlad already teleported with Bond Magic. And opened the portal to the Otherworld. Maybe we still need the Bond to travel. We're almost there!"
Tumblr media
And then the goats began to enter the ship. Ji Ho's Little Goat stayed at the pedestal off the ship... Jack: "I think they are telling us where to stand."
Tumblr media
Time to say goodbye. Saiwa: "Good luck, Rubyn and thank you. Take good care of Ji Ho." Rubyn: "I will do my best. Francine will know what to do." Jack: "Let's go, Vlad."
Tumblr media
They went to the spots the goats showed them. Ji Ho and Vlad placed their meteorites on the pedestals and put the crystals in the openings. Just as other Jeb told them. Jack: "We will meet again soon!"
Tumblr media
And then the whole ship vanished!
Tumblr media
Rubyn and Ji Ho packed up the pedestal and Little Goat, then they called the UFO to fly to Copperdale...

Sci-fi and Fantasy are linked in a strange way. Both deal with impossible premises and both typically have what we call "magic" but we don't normally call Sci-fi shenanigans magic, unless they are strictly spiritual. Sci-fi approaches the impossible as if it's simply not possible yet, and that this world has made a break through, allowing them to make this possible. Sci-fi also tends to spend a lot more time explaining how something works with science, or a modified version, while Fantasy explains it through the supernatural and mysticism.
Obviously no series in either category perfectly follows these rules. The cosmere explains that the supernatural is actually natural and measurable, therefore spiritualism is just another part of science. Star wars in my opinion does the opposite. It takes place in a society with future technology and all the trappings of Sci-fi, but it does it in a very fantasy way. Lightsabers are I think the best example, why would you ever need a sword when everyone else has laser guns, because cool fantasy that's why, it's a laser sword. The futuristic elements are portrayed with a mystic elements. And of course there is magic, they try to make is sciency later by explaining that the force is medicorians or whatever, but it still operates on a spiritual and mystical level, and truly isn't completely comprehensible. Which is in contrast to the Cosmere where all the mystical elements just feel like science that hasn't been explained yet.
Dune is where it gets a little weird to me. I think most people would put this in the hard Sci-fi camp, but I disagree. Yes this series is to Sci-fi what Lord of the Rings is to Fantasy, but I think there's a lot of Fantasy in there. I mean the voice? That's magic, Bene Gesseret being able to transmute substances in their body including poison? Magic. Prescience? It comes from a magic drug, made by magic worms! Yes the books do try to approach this from a very sciency way, but a lot of it just feels like magic, no matter how much Herbert tries to make it scientific. (Btw Sanderson's favorite book series other than the Wheel of Time is Dune, so you can definitely see a lot of his inspirations in this, in fact Taldain, the setting of white sands, is definitely just Cosmere Arrakis, like it even has its own version of sand trout.) There's also a shit ton of mysticism in Dune, and yes much of it is discussing the manufactured nature of religion and aspects of spirituality to control the masses, but there is also a sense that not all of it is made up, that the people in power are manipulating truth without really knowing what it is, just so they can get ahead and stay that way.
Obviously genre, especially in books are really just marketing terms designed to help find the right audience for a particular story. This is the same with YA. YA is an even less concrete genre as it requires very little. Mistborn was not originally marked as YA, it's an epic high fantasy, but after a couple years the boys at TOR figured out that it has a lot of the trappings of YA. It's fast paced, has a young strong female protagonist, a dark dystopian setting, and is written in pros that don't require an incredibly dense knowledge of vocabulary, making it easy to comprehend for all ages. It was a no-brainer for Tor to start printing a YA version(just a paperback with a different cover that is stylized in a way that is very common for YA). YA really just means a teenager could read this without feeling like it's homework. That's really it. There are a lot of people who hate YA for incredibly weird reasons. I personally am weary of YA, simply because I enjoy a slower plot with more room for nuance and sitting in the moment. YA tends to be more fast paced, which I enjoy, but it often comes at the cost of depth. There are a lot of YA books that I enjoy and a lot that I would enjoy if they were written to be a little more "boring". But some of y'all really just don't wanna read anything that is labeled as YA, and I'm positive it is just misogyny. Like y'all just don't wanna read books that are popular and "primarily" marketed towards women, and it's really, really pathetic.
I don't know how this turned into what it is, and I don't have a final point to end this on that will tie it all together. Enjoy this ADHD clusterfuck of a post where none of my points are truly taken to completion
I do not know how to end this, I just wanted to talk about it

Could you recommend a weaoon for a medieval fantasy setting, which would be easy to conceal in the clothes of a woman? The country of it's origin does not matter. Obviously I'm thinking of something like a knife or a dagger at most, but all pictures I could find still look like rather large weapons. She'll not be fighting with it against other weapons, I just had the loose idea that there must be something that would be really inconspicuous to hide. Also, were a hair pin weapons a thing?
Have you considered summoning a blade from the aether? What about a liquid metal sword which is carried concealed on her person, possibly even blending into her skin, but can then form into the full weapon in her hand, when she manipulates a ring? How about a blade of raw magical energy that she carries disguised as a hairpin, only for it to effectively turn into a fantasy lightsaber when she activates the conspicuous gem on the tip.
Have you considered the full Witchblade route? Where she has an artifact (in the case of the Witchblade, it was a bracelet), which carries its own distinct symbiotic being, which forms into weapons (and armor) for her to wield. With the bonus point that you can't simply take it away from her, because it is, biologically, a part of her.
It's probably, still worth saying, if you're planning to take a dagger to a sword fight, also plan to be disappointed by the outcome. One of the biggest factors in these kinds of weapon match-ups is the overall length of the weapon. A character armed with a dagger simply won't be able to reach an opponent armed with a sword, while their foe will be free to fillet them at their leisure.
The dagger works very well as an ambush weapon. When shanking an unaware foe, the length of their sword won't matter, and the overall compact nature of the dagger makes it very easy to conceal and use without warning.
The country of origin, and exact era, are fairly important to assess what you could hide on your person, but even then, if the point is to have something concealed, then the dagger is probably the best option. Though, you could get away with hiding a lot under a traveling cloak. Probably up to and including swords.
As for the specific size of daggers, it's worth remembering that there was a clean size continuity between knives and swords. In the modern era, it's become popular to try to break these down into specific categories like the long sword, short sword, dagger, and knife, but historically, those blended together. There weren't clean lines delineating which weapon fit into different categories. You need a blade roughly 3” long to kill someone, after that, it's all gravy. Yes, a larger blade makes it easier, but if your character is prioritizing on eliminating people quietly, a smaller blade would be easier to hide.
Or, you know, it's fantasy, embrace that and go wild. There's a lot of really cool stuff you can whip out in a high fantasy setting, especially when you start trying to create magical items and artifacts that are designed with more specialized purposes in mind, and step beyond, “a sword that sets people on fire when you hit them with it.”

i find cellbit's red knife interesting bc u said it's not a lightsaber so it can't be powered w a kyber crystal but u still described it as a "laser sword" so does it glow? is it made of metal? does it have an internal heater that makes it glow so it can cut through stuff really easily like a lightsaber?
It’s a laser sword made out of a laser. And it’s a knife because Cellbit likes knives :D
It’s uhhh kinda like this I think? Here’s a diagram of what I’m imagining:
Tumblr media
It’s science fiction man, don’t think too hard about it. Lightsabers are powered by magic or whatever. Cellbit’s laser knife is powered by AAAAAA batteries

In A Twisted Galaxy Far, Far Away...
so when star wars yuu gets isekai'd into twisted wonderland, it happens after order 66. she'll be 16, the same age as the first years so when the clone wars end, she's about 14? so yeah. this is all just disjointed thoughts i've had about this au xD
Tumblr media
yuu arrives in twisted wonderland after order 66
i'm thinking she's like cal in that her connection to the force is broken or she's just so scared to use the force that she hides everything about it. she has to, if she doesn't want to be found by the empire
that way, as the story progresses, she'll regain her power step by step. like in fallen order
and i mentioned it in the first twst x star wars post, but yuu's droid, r3-d8, also gets isekai'd so she's not alone. she has a piece of home
when all the blot stuff happens with riddle, yuu gets flashbacks to the dark side and o66. it almost renders her frozen, but she manages to push through it enough with the help of her friends and gets through the battle
she has a lot of explaining to do when it's all over, but she only explains a little bit of it. it's a lot and very traumatizing, so the boys understand when she says she can't share all of it right now
out of all the boys, lilia is the only one who can understand her experiences since he was a soldier himself and fought in a war
having lived through the war and order 66, it takes a while for yuu to get used to school life. ace, deuce, and grim do their best to make her feel at home. this eventually spreads to the rest of the boys and the teachers
it makes her feel like she's back at the jedi temple again, but with troublemaking, mischievous, "i care only about myself" boys who can also be nice instead of jedi. it's bittersweet, but it feels nice to be in such an environment again
the boys have a twinge of darkness in them, but they are also very light. it reminds yuu of mace windu since he also used power from the dark side
the boys do get very surprised as yuu shows them her powers with the force. she doesn't need a magestone? what the hell?? fairies are probably the closest thing they can compare her to, since i think they have a more innate talent for magic
AND SHE CAN HEAL??? THAT'S LIKE SUPER ADVANCED MAGIC AND HER HEALING IS PROBABLY EVEN MORE ADVANCED THAN THAT???? WHAT THE KRIFFIN' KARK
she and silver get along so well because jedi are good with animals and silver is basically a disney princess. the animals love them
also holy shit she has a laser sword (it's called a lightsaber, you uncivilized fools!). sebek and silver are amazed that there's someone else in nrc who's trained in swordplay. they ask her to train with them, but she's afraid she'll cut through their magical pen batons since lightsabers can cut through almost everything. they are disappointed but also "holy shiz she can cut through basically anything with that?"
i also think about the twst boys getting isekai'd instead! in this scenario, they get isekai'd to the beginning of the clone wars and meet a younger yuu and shockingly enough, crowley's counterpart

Finn: "Thank you, Rey! You insisted I was force sensitive and started me on this mad quest fora  lightsaber. After today I understand why people see them as symbols of hope. There's something... magical to them, that transcends them being mere swords."
Rey: "Hope... That's what we all need more of."

Tis I, owner one, I hereby present you the official character arts of the opposing group. They don’t necessarily have a name neither does CCSL (Crimsn, Coral, Sappy, Lime) so we just call them the evil guys. Although they aren’t technically evil that’s what they are, but everyone is a little of good and bad anyway.
Hi, owner two. We ("we" being I) forgot about this draft. Take a guess which group is our (my) favorite.
All quoted descriptions are from Crimsn’s POV, Also note that Gender ≠ Pronouns, we’re open to answering questions about characters’ pronouns
Argon White :
Birthday - December 12th
Age - 25
Gender - Fluid
Item - Energy sword and magic (briefly)
A smug and, in a way, cocky stick—the least you’d expect from the leader of the evil group.
“…Argon White. The other two have names, yes, but they don't matter here. Argon was the tallest out of the three, 6’4”, and had pure white hair tied in a low ponytail, lapis blue (like really blue) eyes, a 4 point star earring of the same color. He also wore a black parka with the France flag sewn onto the right (his right) sleeve, baggy brownish gray cargos, and New Balance 530s with roller skates on the bottom (don’t ask). He didn’t seem to have any special physical features, oddly enough—besides those scars.”
Tumblr media
Myste Roxo :
Birthday - October 15th
Age - 26
Gender - Fluid (Mostly male aligned)
Item - Baseball bat with nails
A stick who you wouldn't ever suspect to like gardening.
"...jet black hair with white streaks and extensions in dreadlocks, violet purple eyes, black clipped and ripped wings, two giant face scars from his jaw to each of his eyes, a gash in his left cheek that showed the inside of his mouth, pierced pointed ears, white wings hair accessory, blue necklace with a four pointed star as a pendant, puffy purple jacket with a white line going down the sleeves, white crop top with gray bottom half that had a chest opening just underneath his collarbone, brown cargo pants with a purple fabric as a belt, red shoes with light purple lines and white cardboard wings, black fingerless gloves, and a pearled bracelet with a maroon colored shape that looked like a heart."
Tumblr media
Maroon Spark :
Birthday - March 27th
Age - 27
Gender - Agender
Item - Lightsaber
A silly stick—like a cat.
"...6’2”, had messy and ruffled wine red hair with some tied in a ponytail or two as the rest covered his back, gray eyes, white headphones with blue stars over his pointed ears, plain white shirt, long gray hoodie with rolled up sleeves and white drawstrings, white gloves, rolled up black pants and shoes, a blinding white tail, and a gray-ish purple fabric bracelet with a star pendant the same color."
Tumblr media
Azure (unavailable l/n) :
Birthday - January 1st
Age - 112
Gender - Male
Item - Mainly magic
An angel who no one really knows how he got down here.
A taller than average guy, his hair was a dark blue and he had a shiny halo to top it off. The halo had a 4-point star on it and it paired with his large, white feathered wings. His wings were pure-white, but they had a blue fade on the bottom. His eyes were just as interesting, a white base but it faded to blue near the bottom of the iris, just like his wings. He wore a black long sleeve with a plunging V-neck and a wing collar. Underneath that, he wore a white t-shirt. Along with this odd fashion choice, he wore black straight-pants. Finally, he had black heeled boots. What a guy. -owner one desc.

here's some of the lore adjustments i'm going to make when i buy the star wars franchise:
recanonize hutts being able to biologically trans their gender for purposes of having kids. jabba can be trans if she wants to, ok
i think it's fucking stupid that twi'lek women are god damn gorgeous and the twi'lek men look like fucking freaks. therefore, i'm gonna be making the men look as pretty as the women. it's only fair
give the devaronian women horns. you make a species of devil lookin guys and you TAKE AWAY their HORN's??"? shame!! shame upon your houses. also i'd make the facial variation a bit more diverse so we still get the freaky lookin guys but also we should be able to make hot guys too with them i think.
in general i'd get away from that weird sexual dimorphism thing common to a lot of fantasy stuff where the males of a species are all monstrous but the women are all sexy and curvy and such. as such, either all of the people of a species are gonna be sexy and curvy like the women, or they're all gonna be monstrous like the men. them's the rules
revan would be made canonically transmasculine, though i'd wanna do it in a very low key way. it just makes sense!!!
droids can use the force, and everyone has a little bit of force in them so if you train hard enough anyone can become proficient. also, since the cool thing about the force is that it's a very soft kind of magic and is generally just whatever the story needs, i'd go Ever So Slightly Anime about it. like not full on but i'd definitely wanna stretch the physical elements of it slightly more than the movies tended to
yoda's lightsaber should be longer than average, actually. dude's little, he's gonna need the extra reach
the society of star wars is like, fairly straightforwardly a human supremacist one, right? how would that impact the beauty standards and gender identities of the other sapient guys? like what if a rodian got surgery to have a body more appealing to the human gaze? what if one of those secretary droids intentionally designed to look like a shapely woman turned out to be transmasc and got robo-top surgery? conversely, what if a transfem B1 battle droid got robo-breast implants to feel more like a woman?
anyways, speaking of rodians. i want you to imagine the face of a rodian (for those unaware, the guy we see han solo shoot at the beginning of a new hope (greedo) is a rodian). imagine what that mouth do. like, vacuum type shit. literally inhuman degrees of head game. think about it
slugthrowers!!! i'd wanna completely overhaul them, there's this one bit of lore That I Hate that is like "heh... slugthrowers are so much more reliable than blasters, which are actually unreliable as hell if you really think about it..." and it's like. No. That's Not How That Works. if blasters were less reliable than more conventional weaponry, they'd never be widely adopted. that's how weapons work. if it ain't reliable, nobody's gonna fucking use it!!! you need (and i mean NEED) the thing to go bang (or pew, in this case) every time you pull the trigger!! if it doesn't, then no military is gonna adopt it, and since civilians will very frequently go for stuff that has some degree of military pedigree, that's kind of fucking important. so, here's how i'd make blasters better than slugthrowers: more accurate, more reliable, easier to mass produce cheaply and effectively, higher ammunition capacity, and not impacted by varying gravity (at least not as much as Real Bullets, y'know). i'd also make the advantages of slugthrowers that they hard counter jedi (can't reflect metal with a lazer sword, you'd just melt it and now you have molten lead hitting your body at somewhere between mach 1 and 4!!!), and have more potentiality for stealth since you can suppress em silent if you know what you're doing. it is canon that jedi are often killed by assassins with explosives, and since slugthrowers are essentially a form of explosive, this is just an extension of that. so, that's why blasters would be more popular, because How Often Is A Normal Person Gonna Fight A Guy With A Lightsaber, so blasters are just Better in almost all situations but slugthrowers have Just Enough Of A Situational Benefit to still be around for like, at the very least people who are like, bounty hunters that specifically go after jedi or sith, y'know. And No, Jedi Cannot Just Catch The Bullets With The Force, That's Stupid.
anyways, i'd either make padme as young as anakin was when they meet (about 9) or i'd make anakin about the same age as padme when they meet (about 14). that way it's Not Quite As Weird, y'know. i'd probably spring for the latter since that'd be easier to cast good actors for
i'd decanonize the sequels since i have my own ideas for them, but i'd keep certain elements (like bb8 droids and porgs and the live slug reaction guy)
luke is ace but has romantic attraction. again, relatively low key but yeah. also mara jade is canon
i'd make jar jar hot. i'm not gonna elaborate because i wanna keep some things a suprise

Happy Blorbo Blursday! 🌈🐳🚀
If each of your OCs had to carry a weapon at all times, which would each prefer to use? Or if they already carry weapons, what animal companion would be their friend?
--@oh-no-another-idea
Since most, but not all, of the Empty Names main cast has some sort of favored weapon, I'll go ahead and answer both versions of this.
Lacuna:
Does not carry a weapon, does not want a weapon, would not trust herself with a weapon. Unless you count a smart phone full of audio and video files that can be used as substitutes for magic incantations, but she's kind of afraid of the idea of trying to use that for anything even vaguely offensive lest she accidentally blow something up or otherwise do more damage than she meant to.
As for animal companions, Lacuna's never even had a pet, but she likes the idea of cats.
Ashan:
Carries a wand with him at all times, which is technically more of a focus and amplifier for his magic rather than strictly being a weapon, but when you're a wizard trained in combat-applicable magic, it may as well be one.
Taking on familiars isn't really a part of his particular brand of wizardry, but if he were to hypothetically go for one he would try to bind a spirit with a preference for an avian shape due to the utility of flight and the archetypal associations of corvids and owls.
Eris:
Given that she's at "punch holes in concrete and sleep off bullet wounds" levels of supernatural strength and durability, there's an argument to be made that Eris sort of is a weapon already and so she doesn't usually bother carrying anything of the sort with her. But when she has occasion to really get serious she does have a pretty decent grasp of spearfighting and now has a spear that freezes things it hits that Lacuna enchanted for her (despite Lacuna's protestations about swords being cooler).
Animal companion-wise, I tend to think of Eris as being something of a dog person. Or possibly a wolf if we're getting slightly more fantastical about it. She certainly has enough experience with handling and hanging out with werewolves on a monthly basis. That said, she would most likely abhor the idea of bringing any kind of animal on a monster hunt with her unless it was as anomalously durable as she is.
Sullivan:
The man has a seemingly endless and highly varied supply of knives that he keeps pulling out of who-knows-where. He likes knives. Learning to use them was one of the few parts of his childhood tutelage that he actually enjoyed.
I honestly can't think of a good fit for "an animal companion that would be his friend". He only has one friend, and has never wanted another. Not to mention he's got a bit of a "dogs start barking and cats start hissing when he walks by" sort of vibe at times. The closest he really gets to this would maybe be the host of spider-like maintenance and cleaning golems that staff the Bridgewood Manor, but even those are more left behind by his dearly departed wife than truly being his.
Road:
In addition to a dufflebag of various magic trinkets and occult paraphernalia, they typically carry what essentially amounts to being a magic lightsaber whose blade induces temporary paralysis instead of actually cutting things.
Unlike the others, Road sort of has an animal companion already. That is, if you count a shapeshifting alien symbiote that usually takes the form of a jacket as an "animal".
