searching for a song by clicking random on a lyric website. probably not gonna find what i'm looking for but i'm gonna post what i find, listen to, and like here:

moondance just happened to be the first song i got on the roulette wheel, and i can't say i was disappointed. has really nice, understated vocals with an impressive range, and i really like the guitar's stellar blend of simplicity and complexity. wonderful song, couldn't have asked for a better first shot

more than you know seems to be pretty standard for instrumental jazz of the era. definitely solid and enjoyable, but not life changing

stairway to the stars... it feels as if the universe read what i just wrote about more than you know and thought, "heh, i'll show you some fucking jazz, bud". i'm not sure i'm aware of any words in any language to describe how this makes me feel but it's definitely an overall positive one. definitely nostalgic, a bit like if sonder was distilled into a song. overall lovely, i could see this making me cry very easily if i were in the right headspace

shake rattle & roll, can't say i went into this expecting early french rock but i can't say i'm exactly surprised by what i heard either. pretty good by the standards of rock at the time, has a better beat than a lot of what i've heard from the era (though to be fair, a lot of what i'm mentally comparing it to were those drummers that just went thunk thunk in a consistent 4/4 like a less interesting sounding heartbeat)

call me ishmael, by corm. honestly the first one i can say that didn't properly link on the site but i went out of my way to search up anyways, purely because of the band name. corm, what a lovely word, never heard it before now. the song is pretty good for what it is, a lot of songs like this have rather insufferable vocalists but i found this one listenable albeit not exactly intelligible. a lot like green day, and it leaves a similarly vaguely positive impression of quality much like a green day song. nothing special, but definitely worth listening to. i find there's a lot to appreciate in the average if it's well constructed

i concentrate on you is giving me the distinct impression that the best music i'm gonna come across tonight is gonna be jazz. frankly i really should listen to more of it, given my love for genres i'd consider inspired by it like prog and early rap. very good song, would recommend.

weary blues absolutely reeks of 1920s americana in the best way possible. it's got a certain bouncy and bubbly quality to it that i imagine would lend itself perfectly to animation of the era, and is overall just a fun listen

one last one for the night, i'll probably add to this when the mood strikes again. i'll admit i was skeptical about praise ye jah at first since reggae isn't exactly my favorite genre, but i'd like to consider myself open minded and i will say that i was pleasantly surprised overall. the beat is pretty damn good, and i'd personally consider that one of the most important parts of a song. i won't say i especially like the vocals, but i don't dislike them either, and honestly in my experience it's not exactly uncommon for me to absolutely hate the vocals in a reggae song, so that's probably a glowing recommendation coming from me. overall, pretty good!

yesterday afternoon i heard a song on the radio that i not only hadn't heard before, but actually liked. had a woman singing, probably sometime in the late 90s to mid 2000s, could probably be best described as the kind of song that vtmb would license. i can't remember a single identifiable line from it so i'm probably not gonna be able to find it for years and years. oh well! i hope this isn't one of those cases where you find a song you've been looking for and it isn't as good as you remember

i read the part 5 manga while waiting for the anime, and god fucking dammit did it give me one of the most insufferable localization pet peeves on earth. ok, so, the version i read, the zipper guy's name was "bruno buccellati" also sometimes just called "buccellati", also known as the name of the fucking italian cookie. this is inline with a lot of jojo part 5's naming conventions, for instance one of the more memorable antagonists is literally just named the italian word for chocolate and one of the main kids is essentially just named the italian for "orange". but for some fucking reason, the localization team for the part 5 anime decided to go with "bucciarati" instead, and now from what i've seen it's just the commonly accepted way to spell his name... and i fucking hate that!!!!! yeah, i guess it's arguably closer to the original japanese, but do we call giorno "joruno" because that'd also be closer to the original japanese??? do we call jotaro's stand "suta purachina"??? is do we call the jojo from part 2 "josefu josuta"??? no!!!! these are all words and names from romance languages translated into japanese the best they could be with the inherent limitations japanese has translating from languages that don't have the same syllabic structure as it, that we then translated back into the original intended spellings because that's how translation fucking works

#of course. no hate directed at you as an individual if you just happen to spell it that way #i get that this is disproportionately vitriolic relative to how minor of a localization flub it is #and to be clear i played it up a bit for The Funny #but at the same time the core of this is also my genuinely held opinion #habeas corpus. ya feel me

openmorrowind fixed some bugs i like and is mildly incompatible with some of my minor mods, but i will say that some of the little quality of life improvements like being able to quickload while in dialogue and having as many saves (and quicksaves) as you want easily make it the ideal version of the game for me. my only real complaint is that my saves don't automatically back up to the steam cloud but that's fixed with a little bit of google drive usage; morrowind saves are still tiny even if they're in a 64 bit engine.

when i was a lot younger and first getting internet access, at two different points i looked up the currencies japan and china use respectively and i remembered that japan used yen, so when i read that china used yuan, i (like an idiot child) thought "oh! they use the same currency! neat" because in my stupid little baby boy head at the time they looked close enough in spelling that i thought it was just the same thing but spelled slightly different from how i remembered it, like perhaps a fool or some manner of cretin would do

had a dream where i was in some sort of gathering, and this girl about my age started hitting on me hard. like, grabbing and holding onto my hands, laughing at my jokes, just generally all kinds of positive signals, felt great. then the gathering is over, and as we're leaving suddenly she goes ice cold as soon as nobody else is around. i try asking her if she has any way to contact her, e.g. messaging apps or a phone number, and she says something to the effect of "well, i have discord..." and i'm like, great, wanna add me on it? and you know what she says? "i'd rather die."

i woke up pretty much immediately after that set in. felt terrible afterwards. the thing is i'm pretty sure i'd have still been miserable when i woke up even if it ended when i was still having a good time, since i'd be immediately hit with a feeling of "god, i wish that were real". i think i'm gonna be miserable whenever i have any remotely romantically oriented dreams for as long as i'm alone. thankfully i don't have em often but still. God.

dont know what it is but the morrowind writers put something in dagoth ur and almalexia that makes me go "i can fix them". to a certain extent i'm unsure how genuine it is, but he portrays an excellent perverse sweetness that makes me wanna give him a hug and an apology in case i was actually that much of an asshole as the original nerevar. and with almalexia it's like, i know she probably murdered me last time around, but this time around due to the condition called Being The Main Character In An R P G i'm basically unkillable by the time i get to her, so i wish i could just like. visibly shrug off/not even be hit by her attacks, not fight back but just sorta let her tucker herself out and let it really set in that she can't kill me in a way that matters at this point. and then i'm just like "hey uhh, you like... doing anything after this?" and then we remarry because i have maxed out personality and speechcraft and maybe she still tries to kill me every once in a while but it's ok. even if she does succeed i can just load a save. and a lot of her followers get really racist about it because why the hell would nerevar be reincarnated as Orc Dickman, Ugly Bastard Supreme but i win them over with my supernatural charisma and even more absurd combat prowess because i'm level 60 and have everything except conjuration maxed out because i didn't bother to do enough of the temple quests to get the master conjuration trainer to train me but it's not like it matters because conjuration is only really useful for soul trapping golden saints and i can already do that with my level 60ish conjuration just fine thank you very much. can you tell that my adhd meds are probably wearing off by now

this one time as a kid i probably came the closest i've ever come to making a vile potion. i believe this was just after halloween, and i took gatorade as a base and put all the candy i had that i knew would dissolve into water ranging from pixie sticks to rootbeer barrels. it turned into a brownish gray sludge that somehow wasn't sweet in the slightest. it was a wretched concoction and i don't envy child me for drinking it

spent the past few days playing morrowind for extended periods of time, started to feel pretty bad about not getting anything else done. yesterday i actually shaved, which was the main hygiene thing i was falling behind on. today i even managed to do a significant amount of writing, at least by the standards of how fast i write. guess what they say about seeding is true

there are some folks on here that i have blocked not because they're abhorrent pieces of shit or anything, it's just that i find them generally unfunny and downright uninteresting and their posts just happened to find their way to my dash enough times that i decided to just get em outta there. like i definitely feel like theres a certain class of poster that never really says anything entertaining or insightful, it's just kinda noise.
