If Jason’s learned anything living on the streets, it’s that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Like that time he found an entire queen-size mattress in a dumpster outside of the apartment building he and his mom were squatting in and dragged it home, only to discover that it was crawling with lice. Or the time when he agreed to watch some drug dealer’s car overnight for twenty bucks and ended up smack dab in the middle of some kind of gang war. Or the time when he came across a nearly full take-out container of still-warm shrimp alfredo sitting abandoned on a park bench, then spent the next 48 hours becoming extremely well-acquainted with every public bathroom in a half-mile radius.

Anyway, by the time Jason stumbles across a shiny black speedster abandoned in one of Park Row’s many sketchy alleyways, chrome rims gleaming in the moonlight, you’d think he’d have the sense to know too-good-to-be-true when he sees it.

Fuck it. He’s always been an optimist.

Nico’s POV of the first two HoO books is actually hilarious when you think about it. He’s just been chilling with the Romans. He’s hanging out with his long-lost sister he didn’t know existed until like three months prior in a camp full of demigods that generally tolerate his presence for once. Suddenly, oops, Jason’s disappeared. That’s weird. Nico gets a ring from CHB, Percy’s disappeared too. Surely these events can’t be related in any way. Nico helps look for Percy and- wuh-oh, Jason’s turned up at CHB. That can only mean one thing. Couple months later, Nico goes to visit Hazel, and lo and behold Percy is standing right there. Legally, Nico cannot tell anyone about any of this. He then proceeds to swan-dive directly into Superhell.

Utterson is so funny to me. he believes that he is "not his brother's keeper" and yet spends a good amount of time saying "Jekyll...... Jekyll listen to me can you not give Hyde all your money nobody likes him :(" and he makes a pun about Hyde's name after finding out what a weirdo Hyde is even though he regards himself as a serious person. he drinks a kind of alcohol which might blind him and he's a Fake Fan of the theatre. the highlight of his week is walking in silence with his cousin. he's mean to Jekyll's servants for no good reason. he helps break down Jekyll's door with an axe. he's the first to admit it would be super easy to blackmail Jekyll becauseof all the shit he did in uni. Jekyll ignores him for weeks and despite being on one of his super special and valued sunday walks with Enfield Utterson immediately says "Jekyll!! come walk with us🥰🥰". his first reaction when finding a mysterious dead body is "no..... let's not call the police until I've read these letters from my dead friends just in case there's something in here that can help me protect Jekyll's reputation". he's got a grand total of 2 friends. I would pay my life savings to read his reaction to Lanyon's/Jekyll's letters.
