Everywhere, Everything
DPxDC
Danny looked up at the door in front of him with dread and nearly considered turning back when an image flashed through his head to remind him why he was here.
He was staring down the barrel of a bulky silver gun at a faceless woman with short red hair. Her finger moved and Danny squeezed his eyes shut to avoid seeing it play out again.
After calming himself down he returned his thoughts to the door, shaky and completely ready to run at the first signs of plotting, he rings the doorbell.
After a few moments he can hear clamoring and footsteps before they stop right in front of the door, several locks click and Vlad finally opened the door to an exhausted, tense, somewhat crying Danny Fenton.
Vlad only let his surprise show for a moment before it turned to honest concern as he ushered him inside, he sat Danny down in a cozy sitting room and disappeared into what could only be the kitchen.
Vlad returned a moment later with two steaming mugs, he set one in front of Danny before standing above him and staring down.
Danny hesitantly looks up at Vlad, screwing his face up to portray his confusion. Vlad gave him that squinty, sort of pouty concern again before signing and kneeling down to look Danny in the eye.
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
Danny shook his head, “Not hurt. Just tired” and lost.
Vlad studied him, obviously looking for a lie, before huffing slightly and standing up again upon finding no tells that it wasn’t the truth, he moved and sat carefully next to Danny, gently setting his own mug down beside the boy’s and turning to look at him.
Danny looked back. Vlad sighed, “I’m not going to hurt you, little badger, I promise you’ll be safe here”
He spoke softly and though Danny should know better he couldn’t help but trust it. He felt his exhaustion catching up, and all of his anxiety and … slowing down and suddenly he was just tired. And sad.
He felt his chest heave and tears start slipping down his face as Vlad reached out to him.
Hesitantly the man put a hand on his shoulder and pulled him closer when Danny leaned into it. Danny sobbed against him for a while until he wore himself out and Vlad guided him to a room. He promptly passed out on the bed, tears drying slowly. He slept all night for the first time in who knows how long.
——————————
Danny woke up sore and still tired, he slowly came back to awareness and barely avoided panic as everything registered.
He slowly dragged himself out of the bed and to the bathroom to wash his face. Once he felt more awake and clean he slipped out of the room and down the hall to the stairs.
He found the kitchen and consequently Vlad in the kitchen, he only hoped the man was better at cooking than his— the Fentons as he watched him stir something on the stove.
As Danny inched further into the room Vlad caught onto his presence and slowly turned to face him with a soft smile.
Danny looked up at him owlishly as Vlad used his head to gesture Danny to the seats at the counter before returning to the pan.
Danny slunk to the counter and sat down, fiddling with his sleeves and zoning out on the nice countertops.
Soon Vlad was playing food and setting it down in front of him, slowly sliding it into his field of vision. Danny’s eyes refocused to a plate of warm food, a fried egg, hashbrowns and toast.
He slowly sat up and reached for the utensils placed with it as Vlad took a seat next to him with a similar plate and a mug of coffee.
They ate in silence and Vlad directed him to the game/tv room before he left for work.
It was nice, peaceful. Vlad told him not to worry about ghosts for a bit. It stressed Danny out to no end but he was still happy to take the break.
At some point he had made his way back to his room for a nap. It was warm and quiet and he was so so tired.
——————————
One month later
It had been a month since Danny had run to Vlad and Danny has been 18 for two weeks now which meant his parents couldn’t touch him.
Vlad had taken him (and the cops) to go get what he wanted from the Fenton house, luckily they hadn’t been home. They had been trying to reach him though, claiming they missed their son, they missed him alright, or Danny wouldn’t be nearly as whole as he is.
So now he had his things. And his life. And a guaranteed room in Vlad’s mansion and his castle in Wisconsin.
Vlad had pulled him out of school for his last semester so he could try and catch up online a little bit before graduation. Which meant he didn’t really see Sam and Tuck anymore but they met up when they could and called.
Danny and Vlad had been in Wisconsin for a few weeks now, they were both in need of a break so they left Amity, Red had it covered and Danny had been somewhat succeeding in moderating the ghosts so only smaller animals and less destructive beings slipped through without permission.
Danny took a deep breath as he finished up the last of his school work for the week, now that he has time and could work at his own pace he was excelling.
He was on track to graduate early (though he wouldn’t) and he had started taking some preliminary college courses in his free time as well, which he had a lot of.
Danny was thriving.
Vlad knocked on his door.
“Hey, we’re going to a thing this weekend, we both need to get out of the house— err castle.”
Danny snickered, he did feel cooped up though, “what’s the thing? And where?”
“We’re going whether—“ He began “no I know, just curious.”
“Ah, ok, it’s a business party of sorts, for networking and all such efforts, it will be in Chicago I think, or was it Gotham…?”
“Uhh that’s a pretty big difference in location, and an important distinction, I’m down to hit up the crown city of crime but I’d like to be prepared first thank you.” Danny chuckled
Vlad hummed before he came to his final decision, “I think it must be Chicago, I would have remembered for sure if it was Gotham, I shall check nonetheless but I’m nearly 90% certain it’s Chicago. I’ll be right back,” was the last thing Vlad declared as he turned back out of Danny’s room and left to find a device with whatever email or such he had received about it.
Danny laughed to himself at the man’s antics before he got back, he considered the idea of the event more, a rich people ‘networking’ party. Mannn that sounds like a blast he thought sarcastically.
Was he gonna have to wear a suit??
Before he could think anymore Vlad reappeared with his phone and a tablet open looking through it.
“Ah here we go,” he muttered to himself before looking back at Danny, “it’s Chicago, it’s more of a rich people event than business, and it sounds like some younger people have been invited, so maybe some kids around your age…” he trailed off as he scrolled through more, Danny just gave him a look,
“I’m not technically a kid anymore.”
“Hush…it’s formal attire, we’ll have to get you a suit, I’ll take you to my tailor and pick you something nice…there will be food and refreshments but no full meal, good that means we won’t be forced to sit at a table and eat with a bunch of people…”
He trailed off again as he kept looking through it. He hummed softly as he took in information and Danny grabbed his phone as he felt it buzz
Sammy Wammy ;3
Sam
Hey can you call rn?
Danny
Give me a minute
Vlad and I are discussing stuff
Sam
Ok cool text me when ur good!
Danny
Will Do! <33
He quickly texted Sam back as Vlad started talking again
“I just got a flight set up, the gala is on Saturday evening but our flight is Friday morning, we’ll get there and have some extra time to recover before hand… the hotel is provided with the invite so it’s easy and close, I already put in for our room so all we have to do is check in on Friday when we get there…”
He hummed as he looked over what Danny assumed to be either a checklist or just notes, “you should start packing either tonight or tomorrow, I’ll call my tailor and we can go in tomorrow so start thinking about what you want, I’ll help you with that in a moment, I have some thoughts on color and style to suggest but ultimately Jacie will help tomorrow as well…we’ll get shoes and accessories then as well so for now…”
He looked through the list again, a slight furrow in his eyebrows as he went through what they needed to do in the next two days before the trip
“Hum, I think those are the biggest points, I’m not too concerned about your manners or anything, just be you and the rich people can suck it if they’re miffed,” Danny sputtered, “you know you’re a rich person too right? You fit right in with all those gala folks…”
Vlad turned a look on him, “that doesn’t mean I have to like them, or like myself for that matter, I despise these events becuase of the image I am forced to portray, you, my young, vulnerable Danny, have no image to your name yet, that means you have complete freedom this weekend, I’d prefer you be respectful and not drag my name but if you do something foolish I will not hesitate to verbally disown you in the face of the situation.”
Danny laughed again, it felt good, had he not been laughing before? “Honestly that’s fair, I won’t do anything stupid though, I’d rather not have a bunch of pissed off rich people on my ass.”
Vlad nodded approvingly before double checking the list, “ah do you have your work done for the week yet?”
“Yep, just finished up before you came in”
“Even your prep work for the college classes?”
“Yep!”
Vlad studied him for a moment, before smiling and nodding, “good, keep that up and you’ll get somewhere with it, I want better for you Danny, you deserve to get further than I ever did, and further away from those bast—“
His eyes glowed a bit as he cut himself off with a snarl, Danny gave him a sad look, he appreciated the anger, honestly, it was nice having someone aside from Sam or Tuck getting angry on his behalf, it was even better having Vlad do it and still stay in control so easily, Danny had stopped getting angry after meeting Dan, the fear of what he might become worse than any rage he felt.
Even though he knew deep down it couldn’t happen again already, he was here with Vlad and he had yet to feel bad enough to ask for half of him to be removed (like a coward) besides, Danny’s Vlad would never agree to such a thing, in fact Danny had made him swear he wouldn’t ever let Danny do that, and he had promised, even though he was confused.
Vlad walked around his bed to pat his shoulder and Danny initiated a loose hug, he appreciated that too, Vlad let him initiate everything and he respected his boundaries so well too. It was nice having someone who acknowledged that he didn’t always want to talk or be touched.
Vlad had made a lot of progress towards redemption in the last couple of years, even more so in the last month, Danny was proud of him, and thankful for the dedication to be better for him

The Halfa King and His Court
So this is a fic that I started at the beginning of the pandemic that I kinda just hit a block with. I really like it as a starting point, but I’m not sure what else to do with it. I had a sort of bullet point outline but it seemed more like I was just tossing in every different DP fic plot line all together so it wasn’t going to make much sense. I was going to have there be a field trip into the GZ where the Trio judge whether the a-listers and Val have changed enough to have them join in with Team Phantom, there was going to be a reveal to his parents of him and then later on after Plasmius had been helping out then Vlad as well. It was gonna be this whole thing, but anyway. I’m not sure if I will continue this, so feel free to add your own spin on it or take it for adoption, I’m not sure how to do that exactly.
*****
“No.” Danny said, in a tone that rang with finality and a general sense of “I am so done with this whole situation.”
“Danny, I know this is hard to believe, but technically by the laws of the Ghost Zone Frostbite gave to you-” Sam started, only to get cut off by Danny's glare. She sighed. “Seriously Danny, it says right here in the text he gave you.” Sam shoved the scroll at Danny who scoffed and passed it off to Tucker.
“Oh man Danny, do you know what we could do with this? The new laws you could put in place?” Tucker laughed as he read what was written.
“The protections you could put in place for Amity and the Earth?” Sam hinted at poking Danny in the shoulder. Danny sighed.
“Guys, I get it, I could use this to my advantage, but there's so much more responsibility to go with it. I'd have to take over the general affairs from the Observants and Walker, though I guess Walker would have to do what I say wouldn't he.” Danny seemed to think about it.
“Let's say I did do this, what would I do? I don't have time to take care of the whole Ghost Zone! I'd need to pick advisers and establish some sort of method for figuring out small disputes, some way of checks and balances. Guys, you know I'm failing History and Government, and this is basically saying that I'd get complete control over the Ghost Zone and have to set-up an entirely new system!” He gripped his hair in frustration and panic. And it caused his friends to sit and think some solutions through.
“Well,” Sam began, “you could start with getting a few people you know that do know about this kind of stuff together and getting their opinion about it. Frostbite, Dora, Clockwork, Pandora, maybe Ghostwriter from what we know of his library and... maybe... Vlad?” she added the last person hesitantly. Danny shot a look at her of surprise and confusion, dropping his hands from his hair to his lap.
“Vlad? Why the hell would I ask him for anything?” He was honestly baffled as to why she would bring him up.
“Besides the fact that he has more knowledge of modern government compared to the others I listed, I think he would relish the idea of being able to mentor you at something.”She paused to consider something. “He seems to have calmed down a bit after his last scheme almost got your mom killed instead of your dad. He almost seems to realize now that your mom is completely dedicated to your dad and finds him a bit creepy. I mean, last time he was over, he actually asked Jazz some stuff right? Doesn't he usually ignore her completely?”
“Crazy-man acting less crazy?” Tucker snorted. “I'll believe it when I see it.”
Danny thought about it for a second and realized that Sam was right, he hadn't needed to fight the Fruit-loop since his last scheme put his mom in the hospital. She was fine, just had a concussion and a fractured leg, but it still had shaken him. In fact, Danny hadn't seen any sign of Vlad as either Masters or Plasmius since the incident except for when he visited when Mom first got out of the hospital.
“Yeah, maybe you're right, I should go and pay Uncle Vladdie a visit.” Danny stood and paused. “Should I bring the scroll with me to show him as proof? I doubt he'd believe me if I just told him.”
“Yeah, probably should. It's not anything that he can modify to fit his own needs anyway, just a list of laws.” Sam rolled it up and handed it to him. “Want either of us to come with?” She offered.
“Nah, I should be good to visit the cheese-head on my own. You guys mind covering for me until I get back?” They were supposed to be having a study-sleepover at Sam's.
“Sure thing, we’ll just cover our electives while you’re gone and tell my parents you went to get pizza.” Sam fished out some cash and handed it to Danny. “Actually, while you’re out can you grab some?”
“Sure, the usual?” Danny put the scroll and the money in his pocket.
“Yup, a large all veggie vegan cheese for me.”
“And a large extra meaty supreme for me!”
Danny laughed, “and a large extra cheese for me. I’ll place the order as I’m leaving Vlad’s. I’ll be back as soon as I can.” With that he transformed and took off through the ceiling.
Tucker turned to Sam. “Do you really think going to Mayor wack-job is a good idea?”
Sam sighed. “Tucker, you weren’t there that day, the look on his face when he saw Mrs. Fenton take the hit instead of Mr. Fenton…” Sam looked away thinking. “He looked devastated, and not just in the ‘the love of my life will never love me’ way but more in the ‘my actions are hurting those I love’ way. He looked like he realized that if he continued the way he was going that he might just accidentally kill either Mrs. Fenton or Danny and I think that would hurt him more than anything.”

At first, Masters only watched while Jason became a crime boss and cleaned up the streets.
Sometimes he would give him weapons and tips how to use his powers to stay safe.
He never meddled in Jason's work. Well. For a time at least.
When Jason started to collect the children with no where to go, something in Vlad made him care a bit too much.
He began looking after the children when Jason wasn't able to, got them snacks and toys when no one was looking.
On the streets he always kept an eye out for the little rascals. Which he would of course deny doing.
Maybe he was starting to develop a mother hen complex? Surely not..
Maybe he got a bit smothering when Jason came back hurt.
Okay maybe he was a tiny bit protective of him and the kids he got from the streets.
The first aid stuff in his pokets were just a tiny new addition to use when Jason or one of the children needed a patch up.
But that was nothing unusual for him.
Oh who was he kidding.
When the kids began to start calling him uncle vlad, and were actually saying it with warmth unlike a specific little badger in Amity, Vlad knew he had definitly developed a mother hen complex big enough to rival his obsessions.
He could life with that.

Vlad Masters' character just routinely shoots me in the heart. He's a man who, when you boil him way down, just wants a family. His primary, baseline desire is simply to be loved, by a family that he can also love and protect. He's lonely. The problem is, is that he's been hurt in his life, and he's let his resulting bitterness, trauma, and hatred twist and warp how he goes about trying to get the love he wants. His pain has corrupted his morals, which in turn drives potential love away from him, which in turn makes him more desperate as the love evades him, which in turn pushes him to more and more drastic lengths to get what he longs for, which in turn continues this vicious cycle. He continually sabotages himself, but can't realize that because of how far he's sunk in his misery.
It's incredible setup for a redemption arc, wherein Vlad, through multiple events, is aggressively jolted into realizing how he's destroying himself, and subsequently everyone around him. He goes through his repentance and redemption and to Danny, expresses that he's always just wanted to take care of him. That he's always wanted to protect the younger halfa and be someone important to him, but he let his pain poison everything and he did so many things he regrets now, and is there any possible way he could give him a second chance? And Danny can tell that Vlad's actually aware now. He knows just how much he'd been screwing himself over; it's easy to see in his tormented expression.
And as time passes and Vlad works on fixing things, he gradually grows the family he's wanted for so long. It starts with Danny, hesitant to trust him at first but loosening up the more he sees that Vlad's genuine. Then Jazz, who's much more willing to forgive him since she sees Danny's giving him a chance. Eventually Tucker and Sam, too, who end up crashing at Vlad's house more than once with Danny. Tucker shares a common interest of hacking government databases with Vlad and Sam likes to team up with him to harass other rich people. Valerie takes much longer, even longer than Danny, but time slips by and the tension in her shoulders starts to ease whenever she's around Vlad, and at some point she's started crashing at his house with the trio. Eventually Vlad brings himself to visit the Fentons, to pull Maddie aside and apologize, to take a deep breath and clear his head and give Jack a second chance, since he's gotten one. Danielle's the last one, and it takes a long, ugly, agonizing process with a lot of crying and fighting and white-flag-waving, but the day Vlad sits with his daughter asleep his arms and Danny and Danny's friends napping in a blanket fort in the living room, is the day he feels loved.

There's a small-time, just starting out villain staring the Flash down. The villain has an older dog in his arms.
Or he assumes this kid is a villain, seeing as he just stole that dog from the shelter that was literally right behind him.
"Kid," Flash starts, feeling a headache starting up, when another villain comes out from behind the first one.
This one is smaller, a girl, and clearly related to the first.
"Can I at least know why-"
Another one comes out, this one huge, and clearly the father. He has two older dogs in his arms.
"It's a kill shelter! They aren't getting adopted because they're older dogs!" The first villain, a teenage boy meta, explains. Shouts. Both.
"They're precious and cuddly!" The second one, the girl, says, holding up a geriatric and practically rabid Chihuahua.
"Everyone deserves a chance." The final one says, voice just shy of a growl.
Flash sighs.
"Do you have somewhere to put them?"
"Vlad Masters," they all answer with particularly vengeful grins.
Flash decides this must be another relative, and just opts to go pay for the dogs they're leaving with.
And also a bunch of other dogs, swearing to hold onto them until the trio can come back for the rest.

Everyone thinks Danny is an alien or a ghost, so when the league tried to teach Danny on how to act like a human when he's in a disguise (clothes switched, contacts used and dyed hair for human disguise. Danny didn't tell them about his other half nor had he revealed it), Danny thought it was funny.
Funny that in fact, Danny is an actual human, a living person, a child who goes to school and acts normally when he's with the others.
So when they tried teaching him some lessons about how normal folks don't have the capability to lift a couch with a finger or punch a guy that creates a crater, Danny had to stifle a laughter.
He already knows this, he literally lives as a human but no one has to know that until Maddie came in on the Watchtower (let's imagine that she can be there), Danny became serious as Maddie stares at her SON who was supposed to be grounded.
And with that, Danny panicked and tried to leave by intangibility but Maddie was fast and used one of her ghost capture rope and tied Danny back to her. The heroes were then alarmed by the actions of the woman when they paused to hear the next few words of the said woman.
"Daniel James Fenton! Tell me exactly why you're here when I specifically told you, you were grounded?"
Danny just sheepishly laughed and thought up an excuse when his eyes landed on Batman, "Uhhh.... Batman said I could go here!" Danny pointed.

Prompt 185
No one could get into contact with Constantine.
Now usually that wasn’t that big of a deal, the man constantly disappeared for a few days at a time doing something or other, but he’d been completely silent and unseen for months. Usually he’ll at least answer a call to tell them to fuck off or something.
And they really need his expertise and are getting incredibly worried for their grumpy team member. Yes he’s an asshole, but he’s their asshole, y’know? And he has a habit of getting into Situations (sure he also usually gets out of them, but what if he didn’t this time?!)
So they’re desperate. Kind of really desperate. Desperate enough to use the summoning sigil they found on his fridge. They’d checked it, multiple times, and it should summon the hellblazer.
“You’re not Constantine.” .
The white-haired teen in the circle yawned, stretching and blinking at them blandly with familiar blue eyes before sighing. “Actually I am,” he stuffed his hands into his hoodie as he looked down at the summoning circle. “Well, technically just one of the many Laughing Magicians currently in the Realms.”
He gave a grin, looking more amused than annoyed. “Pretty much every one of us is in the Realms right now for family reunion lol. (Did he just say lol out loud??) So like, you’re gonna have to specify which of us you’re tryin’ to summon. Honestly perfect timing for me thanks, the fruitloop keeps flirting with John and it’s horrific so.”
… That was probably their John, wasn’t it…

Fictober23 Prompt: 25 - "Do I look like I knew that?"
Fandom: DPxDC
Rating: T
Warnings: -
A/N: Edit - adjusted the last bit a little after rereading this during my break, so that it makes grammatically more sense...
There was no warning. The moment the Waynes had stepped into the main hall of this Gala they had not been prepared for what had been about to happen. The only sign they had gotten was Damian tensing for a split second before the youngest of them booked it across the hall.
Tim and Bruce instantly attempted damage control, distracting all the high society people that had noticed it, while Dick and Jason followed their youngest. Cass had already escaped the gala to the roof before they had set their first foot into the main hall.
But again, nothing could have prepared them for what was happening.
Damian not only had seen something that caused him to sprint across the room no, their Demon Brat had gone a step further and just tackled the kid of someone else over and was now wrestling with the other boy! Holding one of the daggers they must have missed to the other boy's neck.
Surprisingly, the other kid held himself pretty well against Damian. Jason and Dick spent a good five minutes just staring when they had found their youngest, only starting to move again when Vlad Master demanded answers from his child. The apparent guardian of the kid that was currently attempting to get a choke hold on Damian before getting flipped over the shoulder, the boy flipped mid air, landing on his feet.
Before Damian could lung at the other boy again Dick grabbed him, his arm wounding around Damians chest as he held onto his youngest brother that sent quite an impressive death glare towards the other kid that just returned the glare, not with the same intensity but clearly peeved had having gotten attacked out of nowhere.
"Daniel! Explain this instant! You promised me, one gala without a ruckus!" Master was clearly not amused, hopefully Bruce had some sort of peace offering ready. Not that the man needed it, Dick thought, remembering some of the reports he had seen the man on.
The boy, Daniel, turned his glare towards his guardian. "It's not my fault this time! HE attacked me first!" Jason snorted, clearly having heard out of that statement alone that Masters apparently also had a feral kid that attacked someone at a gala before.
"This is no excuse. I know you are still grieving but you can not attack my business partner's children. Wasn't it enough that you broke Andrews Mayors nose last week?"
"He deserved it, he hit a girl in a perverted way."
"Justin Gracer?"
"Made fun of my late parents' profession."
"Daniel."
"Fruitloop."
Dick watched how Masters pinched the bridge of his nose, clearly not happy with his charge. By now Damian seemed to have calmed down too from whatever idea he had gotten into his head. He was still glaring at the other kid but at least it appeared he wasn't going to attack anymore when he hissed at Dick to let go of him. He still kept a hand on his shoulder just in case.
"I am so sorry Mr. Master. It wasn't Daniel that started it. Damian, come on apologies." Dick cut in, causing the other two to pay attention and fully face them. That's when he noticed it. Daniel looked a whole lot like Damian. The older siblings shared a glance before Jason left to get the others, Tim and Bruce were still stuck doing damage control but it should only be a matter of time. What was the best way to bring it up to ask subtitle questions without appearing suspicious?
Dick was just about a question before Daniel apparently beat him to it. "Fruitloop, you did not attempt to clone me did you?"
"Little Badger, why would I do that? I already have guardianship over you."
Dick felt like he was missing something here but he also felt Daniam's shoulder tense below his hand. So that was why he had attacked. Damian thought another clone appeared. He really hoped what Masters and his Charge seid were just some ill timed joke. Otherwise the implications would be very worrisome.
"Mom and Dad didn't keep some other family relations secret did they?" Daniel then asked and Masters looked at them contemplatively. "Well Jack was estranged from the rest of his family while Maddie only had her sister Alicia and as far as I am aware you and Jasmine were their only children."
"Mr. Masters if you don't mind, would it be alright to do a DNA testing? You said Daniel's father was estranged from his family? It would be good to find out now if there is a relation." Dick ignored the glare Damian was sending him now, but this was his best excuse to get the others DNA to test if the other boy was really a clone or not. If he was then the League of Assassins must have done some serious brainwashing, and memory manipulation. This would also be the first clone of Damian that actually had a consciousness of his own.
"Doesn't explain why he attacked me…" he heard the other boy mutter as Master stared at them with narrowed eyes for a while before giving the boy by his side a contemplating look.
"Daniel has lost his family and friends in an incident recently. It would be good if we found any family he could connect with or help with his grief." The man then finally said after a moment before handing Dick a business card with a number to connect them before leading his boy away, leaving the gala for all they knew.
A week later and after a lot of discussion in their Family. The Waynes and Masters meet for the DNA testing. Though the moment Masters and his charge met Bruce both froze, Bruce in his Brucie act blinked innocently at them and asked if anything was wrong.
"Fruitloop…"
"Don't be ridiculous Daniel. I never would have attempted what you appear to be implying."
The boy pointed in at Bruce as he faced his guardian. "Look at him and tell me they don't look alike! He is like a more fit version of Dad! Like he hadn't eaten a single one of mom fudges in years! You have to have an explanation for that!"
"And how would I do that?"
"I don't know! You're the fruitloop one that had cloning equipment in the basement! Who did you buy it from? Some old fruitloop? The one you bought it from, did they try to - i don't know - clone a celebrity for themselves! The papers you had with it clearly stated that it had been used successfully once. It was a second hand bought with super old technology when I demanded you destroy the stuff!"
"Daniel, do I look like I knew that? I never looked in these papers you speak of! I just bought it as a backup plan, that I never needed a little badger! Besides the only one I would have ever attempted to clone with that time frame would have been your mother! I didn't even know your father before college! "
"Why would you buy something without looking into the papers and instruction manuals you get with it?!"
"There was no need for! Why did you even look into that when you had me destroy it anyway?!"
The Waynes looked back and forth between Masters and his charge. The more these two continued to argue the more a sinking feeling started to form in everyone present. It was Tim though that voiced everyone's thoughts as he leaned over to Bruce whispering only one question. "Are we sure there never has been an attempt of someone trying to clone you? It sounds like there had been one, years ago…"

Vlad is the one who gets Danny help.
He has a realization that he became so fixated on Maddie he lost sight on everything else. Maybe he find Maddie and Jack experimenting on a ghost, maybe a plot to capture and cut open phantom. Something makes him see the light.
Regardless of what he is the one who realizes how dangerous Danny’s home life is. How at risk he is.
So vlad leaves an anonymous tip on the justice league helpline regarding a portal into a different dimension. The location fentonWorks in amity park Illinois.
It would be even better if amity had an info block out so it just didn’t exist online. Maybe when they respond either the GIW have phantom and are ready/doing experiments.

Gotham Rogue Vlad Masters Part three - The Library
Master list | Part 1 | Part 4
The sun didn’t really shine in Gotham, but the kids soaked up the meager bit peeking through the clouds. Vlad had a child on each side, hands held tightly as they walked. Vlad had memorized the maps as much as he could, having never found the place he was looking for on foot before. It was much easier to fly, but the kids needed the exercise and the practice to blend in.
Jazz was doing wonderfully, expression guarded and dangerous. He’d insisted she left the thievery to him, but he watched her slide a wallet into her pocket after brushing against a passing stranger. It made a twisted part of him proud.
Daniel on the other hard was doing terribly, unable to hide his joy and waving at everyone they passed by. He stood out, tugging on Vlad’s hand and trying to run off at every pigeon and rat he saw scurrying by. Vlad tried to squeeze his hand in warning, but Daniel just squeezed it back and let out a happy chirp. His breath was coming out misty even in the mild weather, making Vlad second guess himself on bringing him out. Daniel was still developing and had lots of ghost mishaps, but he was getting fed up with being cooped up all the time. Vlad had a feeling that if he didn’t bring Daniel outside already he would have just phased through the wall and gone on his own adventure.
The finally reached the library, a grand and towering old building. He held the kids hands tightly as they walked inside, bypassing the help desk and trying to seem like they belonged there. He mapped out the exits and cameras sparsely places along the ceilings. There would definitely be eyes on the computer area, but shouldn’t be as many in the children’s section. He hated the kids being on camera at all, but with Daniel’s thick winter hat and a scarf covering Jas’s lower face he hoped they would be safe. He knew the picture around Danny and Jazz would likely be fuzzy since they didn’t know how to repress their abilities like he did. Hopefully no one would look close enough to notice. He concentrated his aura around his face to keep his blurry as well, but just a little.
He squatted down to eye level with the kids once they were mostly out of view.
“Jazz, watch Daniel.” He hated to put all the responsibility on her shoulders, but they both knew the boy would run off. “Get a book for yourself too, we can sneak out a few when he leave. We’ll bring them back once we read them.” He assured Danny with the last part, ruffling the kid’s hair.
“Can I read about the stars?” Danny asked with wide eyes, green swirling in blue.
“Sure thing, Daniel.”
“Danny!” The raven haired boy stomped his foot, pouting something fierce. He was rather insistent on the nickname. Vlad preferred Daniel, but he would relent to let the child have some normality in his life with all the big changes.
“Ah, yes. Danny.” He sent the two off, trusting Jazz to keep them both safe as he found the computers.
The more he learned about Gotham the stranger it became. He knew crime ran rampant in the city, but this was beyond what he’d imagined. He could use this to his advantage.
He still had less than reputable contacts from when he’d just started committing crimes to start up his own company, and it’s wouldn’t be hard to get back into old habits. He would need to keep Plasmius a secret though, too noticeable as a ghost. He couldn’t rock the GIW sniffing around, so he had to do this the old fashioned way. He’s still use his powers of course, but subtly. It wasn’t as if metas didn’t exist, even if the bat didn’t want them in his city.
He was researching the art scene of Gotham when his pocket buzzed, the rudimentary device in his pocket getting an sos from Jazz.
He stood, trying to keep himself from panicking as he searched for his charges. He could feel them in the building still, his core latching on to the echo of Daniel’s core and Jazz’s ectoplasm.
He rounded a corner, shoulders sagging in relief once he saw both kids unharmed. They were in what seemed to be the children’s reading nook, with cartoon animals painted on the walls and beanbags instead of chairs.
Daniel was in a lady’s lap, a book open as he pointed and explained what stars were to her. The woman was in a wheelchair, eyebrows raised a confused smile on her face. She was a redhead, a much fiercer red than Maddie and Jazz’s orange.
“Dad!” Jazz yelled loudly as he approached, making his core burn hot in his chest. He managed to keep his stride unbroken, hiding his flinch with a smile.
“Jasmine! Find anything good to read?” He greeted her cheerily, letting her grab his hand. She squeezed out an sos, smile strained. Her eyes were pure ice as she stared down the lady holding her brother, not an ounce of trust.
“Not much, Danny was just telling Ms. Barbara all about space.” Jazz’s eyes were pleading as they turned to him, palm sweaty and shaking against his.
“I’m so sorry about him.” Vlad apologized, slipping into fake cheer like a second skin. The galas he’d attended when his company was starting out had been full of people he had to lie to. It had been a big change from being a college geek with no social life, but Vlad Masters did nothing if not persist.
He plucked the boy from the lady’s lap, holding him tight as Danny whined and squirmed, bony limbs flailing.
“Vlaaaaad.” Danny whined, chirping angrily as Vlad stiffened. He was glad humans couldn’t hear ghost speak.
Jazz laughed awkwardly, elbowing Danny’s dangling leg.
“That speech impediment of yours, still can’t pronounce dad.” Her lie wasn’t as smooth as his, smile tight and a tad too sharp.
“Was just telling ‘er about stars and planets. I can’t read the words yet so I needed help.”
“Why couldn’t you ask your sister?”
Danny shook his head, black mop of hair falling in his eyes.
“She was reading her own book.”
Jazz looked at the floor in shame. A book way thicker than most six year olds could read was on the beanbag.
“I see. Well, say goodbye to the nice lady.” He gave Barbara a fake smile, tugging Jazz’s hand.
Ms. Barbara looked confused, holding up the book on stars Daniel had been showing her.
“Your books, would you like me to help you check them out?” She held out the big book of space Danny had been showing her, the boy beginning to squirm and reach for it. She wasn’t aware that they didn’t exist yet, and thus couldn’t check out books.
“We’ll come back another day!” He assured her, already walking out with the kids. Daniel was whining something fierce and Jazz looked miserable, not the outing he wanted.
He ducked into an alley and flew them back to the home base. They needed the exercise but Daniel was struggling he didn’t want to eyes on them, so flying back was easier.
Danny was crying, shaking as he tried to hold in a tantrum.
Jazz hadn’t met his eyes since they left the library.
“Jazz, dear. You alerted me in time. He didn’t say anything that could give us away, did he?” Vlad was pretty sure that, if it came to it to protect the kids, he would kill a bystander.
Jazz shook her head, teary blue eyes meeting his.
“No, just talked about space. I didn’t hear her until Danny was already in her lap! What if she took him! Stupid! Stupid!” The redhead slammed her fists against her head, chest heaving as tears escaped her tightly shut eyes and cascaded down her red cheeks.
Vlad grabbed her wrists, holding them still as she squirmed and fought him before collapsing into his arms in a fit of tears. He hadn’t seen her cry since her parents deaths, always only hearing it faintly at night.
Jazz sobbed in his arms, her tears spurning Danny to start sobbing as well. Vlad ached down to the core, gathering both kids in his arms and kneeling on the floor with them until his legs were numb. He felt his own eyes traitorously burn, perhaps from the sadness of his fraid effecting him, or just stress creeping up. He forced it away with hard blinks, he didn’t have time for that.
He really had no idea what he was doing, but he had to keep doing it because this was the only way to keep the kids safe. They couldn’t have normal lives, he had to remember that. They were monsters to the government, the kids wouldn’t be safe in the system with a good family, there were stuck with him.
They cried themselves out, both sagged against him and dozing with the occasional hiccup. It was easy to carry them both to bed, almost natural. He wondered if, in another life, he could have had a family of his own. It was for the best he hadn’t thought, that he’d been able to let go of his life to keep the kids safe. He barely found himself missing the castle he’d loved so much, so focused on the fact they were alive, mostly. He’d grieve it more later, the place in the world he’d made his own after years of hospitals and clawing his way up in life, but for now it was enough to be safe.
He tucked the kids in to the king bed they’d claimed, body aching in new ways as he dragged a chair over. He could keep a double for a while, but he didn’t trust a double to stand watch, so he prepared himself for another long night. He knew he needed sleep desperately, but he couldn’t risk it. Instead he sent a copy to the library to steal the books the kids had been reading along with a few books for himself.
He managed to read through a book on parenting traumatized children by light of ecto blast before the sun rose, hiding it in the wall with the other books he’d chosen so Jazz wouldn’t read them and try to be more grown up than she had to be. She’d taken on a parental role with Danny and he was forced to let her even though every book he read said it was bad for her development. He wanted her to be a kid, but he needed her help to keep Danny safe and out of trouble.
He was going to have to start stealing again soon, and that meant Jazz would have to step up even more to watch Danny while he was gone. He could go at night while they slept, but then they would be unguarded. It was quite the dilemma. But still, Vlad Masters persists. He’d once been a lab rat building new equipment on a diet of energy drinks and ramen, he could manage to make a security system to keep two kids safe.
He made a plan to go dump hunting, he could maybe bring the kids along if he scouted it out first. He would steal a proper laptop and fancy tech once he was better prepared, but they would make do with scraps right now.

In the name of love (and gossip) dc x dp
The day had been going normally. Tim had been having breakfast with Cass when Bruce walked in bleary-eyed with a grunt in greeting as he went for the coffee machine. He and Damian has stayed out later than usual yesterday night, as a concession for the fact they couldn't patrol due to tonight's charity gala. Damian was currently staying with Jon, and would be sleeping at the Kent's for a sleepover night.
"Mr. Fenton will be in attendance for tonight's gala," Alfred said as he walked into the kitchen.
Bruce look up so quick, Tim swore he heard his neck crack. "Danny's coming?"
"Indeed, Master Bruce."
"Cat Grant is still on the guest list?"
"Yes, sir," Alfred answered dutifully.
"Perfect," Bruce said as he let a smile stretch across his face before he stood up. "I have some errands to run, I'll see you tonight," he said as he swept outside of the room.
Tim frowned at the strange behaviour before he turned towards Cass who just shrugged and went back to her breakfast.
"Who's Danny?" Tim asked Alfred as he stood up to get himself another cup of coffee.
"Mr. Fenton and Master Bruce were quite close when they were younger. The media went so far as to call them childhood sweethearts," Alfred started as he swapped out the espresso pod Tim had gotten out of the pantry for a decaf one, which had the teen pouting. "When Master Bruce disappeared for his 'backpacking trip through Europe', Mr. Fenton became distressed and made quite a fuss, going so far as offering a reward for information. Eventually, Mr. Fenton acquired a daughter and mostly retired from the public eye." Alfred paused before letting the corner of his lip curl up ever so slightly. "Still, when Master Bruce returned, there was apparently a very explosive and very public confrontation between the two of them. I am told it involved a good amount of tears and shouting."
"Tears?" Tim asked incredulously. Were they talking about the same emotionally-repressed man?
"Just so," Alfred answered with a nod. "They met up a few times since, but it has been a long time since Mr. Fenton was in town. I imagine tonight's gala will be very interesting."
This was disappointingly boring, Tim thought to himself as he sat by the drinks table. Everything had gone as usual, with schmoozing left and right while Bruce charmed the pants off the Gotham elite. Tim sighed. He didn't even have Dick to joke with, since he was on a mission off-planet. Just as he was considering calling Steph to allay his mounting boredom, a hush fell onto the ballroom. All heads turned towards the entrance, where Tim could see a man looking to be in his early-to-mid-thirties walking in with a young woman who bore him a striking resemblance. Both of them were quite attractive and looking very dapper in their obviously high-quality clothes but that didn't justify the crowd's reaction.
In the ensuing silence their arrival had caused, Bruce's greeting of "Danny," seemed very loud. The answering, "Bruce," was just as loud and the two exchanged a charged look and a nod before they both turned away from one another in concert.
Sound gradually came back to its previous level, but now Tim was intrigued. He grabbed a few hors-d'oeuvres and shoved them on a plate as he swerved between guests until he could get up to the balconies, for a better vantage point.
This was the batkids' favourite hideouts during galas, as it was great for making fun of some particularly snobbish guests. Tonight, it would serve for spying on the mysterious Danny.
As the night progressed, Tim noticed both Danny and Bruce giving each other longing looks when the other wasn't looking. On one occasion, Bruce even left a sentence unfinished as he caught sight of Danny, before he shook himself out of it and apologized. His conversation partners just looked at each other with gazes charged with meaning as they brushed off the apology.
At some point, Tim noticed Danny excusing himself from the conversation before he walked out of the ballroom. A moment later, Bruce did the same and followed him out. Tim polished off the last of the appetizer before getting himself back down.
He walked out cautiously, looking around for the two men when he heard voices coming from one of the smaller adjacent hallways. As he crept closer, he chanced a look around the corner to see Bruce and Danny talking to each other. He walked in closer to get a better view, only to quickly duck out of view when Bruce looked in his direction.
As Tim walked back further into the hidden nook, he had to stop himself from shrieking when he came into contact with a body.
"Yo," whispered who Tim now recognized as Ellie, Danny's daughter holding a cup of the punch and looking very relaxed.
"Hi?" Tim whispered back still trying to calm down his beating heart. "What are you doing her-"
"Shhh," she interrupted him, as she looked towards the two men. "They're getting to the good part."
Tim followed her lead and turned his attention back towards the two men.
"... I just wonder sometimes, what could've been," Danny looked into the distance wistfully, before he turned back towards Bruce, longing in his eyes.
"It's not too late," Bruce said passionately as he took the other man's hands. "We can still try again."
"No, Bruce." Danny took his hands away reluctantly, as if the very action was painful. "We're no longer the people we used to be." Then, he smiled, aching and fragile before continuing. "We have different lives now, there's no use clinging to the past."
"Danny please," said Bruce as he raised his hand to cup the other man's cheek tenderly. With a wretched sigh, Danny's resistance seemed to break as he let himself nuzzle into the larger man's palm, looking as if he couldn't help himself from seeking its warmth.
"Well, I'm up," Ellie breathed out before downing her cup. "Wish me luck!" she said as she walked off before Tim could get a chance to hold her back.
"Dad!" she called out loudly, as if completely oblivious to the atmosphere.
Danny tore himself away from Bruce's grasp guiltily as he turned towards his rapidly approaching daughter.
"Ellie," Danny said as he visibly collected himself. "What are you doing here?"
"The party was boring so I went to find you." She pouted. Then, as if just noticing the man, she exclaimed, "Mr. Wayne! We didn't have the chance to talk earlier, it's been so long!"
"Hello, Ellie," Bruce answered back warmly, despite looking still a little raw around the edges. "You've grown a lot since I last saw you."
"Well, I sure hope so," Ellie said jokingly. "It's been what, five years?"
"Yes, it has," Bruce answered, but he was looking at Danny who was doing his best to avoid Bruce's pleading gaze.
"If you're tired of the party already, why don't we go home early?" Danny suggested studiously avoiding the other man's eye.
"Really? We can go?" Ellie asked hopefully.
"Yes, sweetie," Danny said as he ruffled his daughter's head playfully.
"Dad! My hair!" she whined, as she patted it back in place. "Alright, give me a minute to get my bag, then we can go."
With that she started turning away before she stopped herself and turned back towards Bruce. "You should come visit us sometime, Mr. Wayne! Dad wouldn't say it but he misses you." With that, she turned with a twirl of fabric and started walking towards the ballroom. Danny ran a hand through his hair as he sighed.
"You missed me?" Bruce asked, one part teasing and one part hopeful.
"You know I have," Danny looked up at the taller man, sounding defeated yet fond.
"I missed you too," Bruce breathed out as he brought his face closer and closer, until their lips were almost brushing-
"Mr. Wayne!" A voice came from the ballroom.
The spell broke and once again, the two men separated.
"I have to go," Danny mumbled as he took the chance to extirpate himself and start back in the same direction his daughter had gone.
"Danny, wait!" Bruce got out. "Could I really come visit you?" he stuttered out breathlessly.
Danny stopped, but didn't turn around as he answered in a voice clearly rough with emotions. "You'll always be welcome, Bruce. You know that." And then, he walked away.
Bruce kept his eyes glued onto Danny's departing back, until the other man's figure was swallowed in the crowd and disappeared. The sigh he let out was full of melancholy, but when he looked up again, his gaze was determinate. A beat later, he followed Danny into the ballroom.
Tim stayed where he was for a moment, just contemplating everything, before he started to move, but before he could come out of hiding, there was a movement in front of him. Freezing in place, he looked on as Cat Grant came out of what seemed to be her very own hiding spot. She looked around for any witness before she too snuck back towards the ballroom. Tim let his head hit the wall behind him.
What the hell had just happened.

What are your favorite Vlad redemption stories? No Badger Cereal in this house.
I’m trying to write a story where Danny goes to him for advice about being Ghost King and I’m having trouble deciding exactly what caused his change.
Was it a scheme of his that backfired and almost killed Danny and Maddie?
Did Danny come to him to talk one-on-one?
Did he get stuck in an elevator with Jazz for a few hours?
Did Danielle through being adorable manage to melt his heart enough for him to actually adopt her as his own?
Did Danny find him dying of some sort of ghost illness?
Were there Clockwork shenanigans?
Let me know your faves!

Tumblr media
Can we talk about this for a second
This scene is framed so ominously, with the extreme close-up of Phantom's eyes opening and Clockwork's implication of danger, but Vlad himself looks so small and vulnerable. Maybe even awestruck.
He's been driven by nothing but bitter loneliness for decades (and thank you Epstein for my life for canonizing this), and now twice in quick succession he's lost everything he's worked so hard to gain. And it's his own fault. He's the problem. He can't delude himself about that any longer.
And only by recognizing and owning up to his past mistakes is he finally, finally granted one of those precious things his money and influence couldn't buy: a family (maybe even a son?). One he feels a genuine kinship with and is committed to protecting.
He seems genuinely humbled by everything that's happened, and while I doubt it'll be a smooth transition, I believe he's sincere about trying to start fresh. If for no other reason, I hope there are more comics someday just so we can see Vlad's growth (and maybe healing?) over time.

Absolutely adore the idea of Vlad bonding with Tucker as the awkward third wheels to whatever ambiguous romantic drama Danny and Sam have got going on. Within a Vlad redemption au, obviously, bc that’s a given at this point, but I just think Tucker and Vlad would get along really well. They’re both really quippy and intelligent, and Vlad’s unhinged-ness put with Tucker’s teenage boy idiocy would be hilarious and I just,,,,
Tucker, noticing Vlad’s fangs: You’ve got fangs
Vlad: yeah?
Tucker, very intensely: How many hotdogs do you think you could eat in a minute with those?
Vlad:
Vlad:
-Danny and Sam finally resolve whatever lover’s quarrel they were having and come back to find Vlad aggressively shoving hotdogs into his mouth and Tucker, absolutely captivated, yelling “CHUG”
