hiiiiii can i ask for gladiia/kaltsit..... whatever youd been craving to write for them honestly .... i need glad to break that old woman please,
(hehheehe just picture kal in the ambience synesthesia outfit-)
---
"Gladiia."
"You kept me waiting."
"Only because I knew that the moment I shared a dance with you, I'd be indisposed the rest of the night."
"You knew I'd keep you to myself."
"And I needed to build my stamina to keep up with your kind of dancing. How goes the saying? 'Save the best for last'?"
"Finer praise I've yet to hear, coming from the only woman on land that can keep up with me."
"Hmm."
Kal'tsit barely lifts her hands and Gladiia has her, by the waist, by the wrist, and she threads their bodies through the passing throngs of dancing people into a waltz.
"Thank you." Kal'tsit catches hold of an exhale with which to breathe the words.
"Whatever for?"
"For whatever you like."
"I'd like it to be a great many things. I'd ask you to be more specific."
"Of course. I'll think about it."
It's the closest Gladiia has come to any sort of admission to anyone besides herself, but like always, Kal'tsit holds her heart just out of reach, keeping that vague, quiet distance, carefully measured.
The pomegranate cloistered in lofty boughs, skin peeled away, shelling blood like drops of pearl.
Gladiia knows she would break her teeth upon it for a deeper taste. She is convinced that every woman that crosses Kal'tsit's path is doomed to be a casualty of her first lover, enchanted as they are eclipsed by the smoldering maze of embers left behind in their wake.
Ironic, that one of the first lessons as a hunter is to yield to the ebb and flow of the tides. The currents will sense, then choke out, any struggle otherwise.
Their bodies slice through space across the floor. Gladiia takes her waist, lifts her aloft with a flourish and turn-
For a moment, Kal'tsit's slender form is backlit by the overhead lights, wreathing her expression in shadow. Through the deep, low cut of the garment along her back, Gladiia feels the articulation of her spine, the faint sheen of sweat upon her skin-
-and then seconds later, she sets her back down into step once more, tortured by the knowledge that were they alone, Kal'tsit would stay where she could be worshiped, held high, illuminated by that peculiar darkness that didn't cross her features aside from in her most vulnerable moments.
But Gladiia knows that even now, it's still only what Kal'tsit lets shine through the cracks. She is under no delusions.
Kal'tsit calls her out immediately.
"You look distracted."
A blink. "I am."
"Not that it hampers your dancing any. You just look like you're about to kill me."
"Only if you wanted me to. And only for as long as I could bear to part with your company."
Gladiia sets a brisker pace, improvises a turn, a challenge that Kal'tsit rises to. Effortless.
The music fades. They have ended their dance right by the exit in such a way that appears natural-
"Say that I was interested, in this little death of yours. Would you grant me that much tonight?"
"At least that much."
-But they both know better.

Yesterday's post about shinigami blood types (or lack thereof) reminded me about an idea I had awhile ago that shinigami had an equally woo system of assigning personality types based on reiatsu color. This is especially charming to me because of the fact that Ichigo, who hates horoscopes and such, changes reiatsu colors like seventeen times over the course of the series and I feel like the Reiatsu Color Girlies (gender neutral) would have a field day with him.
For funsies, and because it's Friday, I decided to take a stab at making one. I started with the reiatsu color chart from the Bleach wiki. I threw out all the really minor filler arc characters. This is mostly a shinigami thing, so I considered non-shinigami characters as I was thinking about the categories, but they were, like, supporting evidence. I decided that black reiatsu is not a thing people have normally, that's...you know, final form nonsense. Both Yoruichi and Soi Fon's shunko is listed as white, but I feel like shunko is just white, that's not the same as having white reiatsu and is not a personality reflection. On the other hand, when one's bankai is a different color than their normal, that's like revealing a secondary personality type, which is oddly consistent with bankai as a concept. I futzed around for a bit, and finally decided I wanted it to be color-wheel balanced, so, while the Bleach wiki uses the categories of Orange, Golden Orange, Golden Yellow, and Yellow, I just used Orange and Yellow. These are all designed as a spectrum anyway, so if someone's reiatsu is somewhere in the middle, or two-toned or something, they are considered to either have the traits of both, or to be somewhere in the middle.
Finally, keep in mind, this is in-universe hokem, so it's actually very on-brand and hilarious for someone to be grossly miscategorized.
Some notes:
From the very beginning of this project, it was hilarious to me that Matsumoto was getting thrown into the same personality archetype as Hitsugaya and both Kuchiki. In my mind, Rangiku strongly identifies as a white reiatsu person, despite the ample evidence to the contrary. No one is sure if this is a bit or not.
I took all the Arrancar off this chart, but obviously Grimmjow's is blue, and I think it's a hilarious Seireitei microaggression that he would go into the studious class overachiever with Kira and Ishida (I realize that Ishida is also not a shinigami, so to him, it's a microaggression how on-brand this is)
The pink category was such a mixed bag, and it also contained basically every girl Arrancar. I tried to come up with something that literally every one of them would make a horrified face about, a club to which absolutely no one wishes to belong.
The red category feels very solid to me and I love the collection of characters within it, except for Urahara, what is this man doing here? I feel he would be very "hmm, maybe I am a man of action" about it, which is definitely a bit, and Yoruichi has nearly murdered him over it on multiple occasions.
Has there ever been anyone with green reiatsu who wasn't absolutely insufferable over it? Certainly not anyone on this chart. (Kira is both vocally critical of the reiatsu color personality system and incandescently angry that he doesn't have green reiatsu)

really weird thing ive noticed lately re: hermits getting critiqued for stuff theyve said or done is that as soon as someone holds a shit opinion (even if it's just them being stupid, or a centrist, or saying a bad word without knowing what it means, or whatever) people immediately seem to flock to the 'this guy should die' 'kys' 'why are we giving this person a platform' rhetoric and like. that's not how meaningful change is made?
like, yeah, if one of my beloved CCs posted a tweet or video tomorrow about how much they hate gay people, or believe in conservative ideals, or they just said a bunch of slurs or whatever (these are hyperbolic examples obviously) then yeah, fuck them, they should go rot. but like, having some dumb takes, or saying bad things in the past, doesn't = evil terrible person...
idk, i feel like we can critique content creators without getting so insane about it. like, shit, there are things some of my favourites do that i don't like, but theyre not even really worth bringing up tbh. unless its something actually important, i feel like it just creates more drama out of nothing and all these assholes come crawling out of the woodwork to tell everyone how much they hate that creator. or find their content boring anyway so clearly they have no real merit to anyone.
more of an explanation of what i mean in the tags but yeah.

I remember being in class and my english teacher made a passing comment about Henry VIII and my musically obssesed self immediately said, "Divorced, BEHEADED, died. Divorced, BEheaded, survived..." And turns it totally impressed her to know about some history because she mentioned this to the other teachers?? In the teacher's lounge?? Other teachers were telling me how she was praising me about how knowledgable I am and "that kid is so diligent she even learns about history in her spare time!"
I even got other teachers telling me that it's rare for kids to want to know about history these days and patting me on the back when all I did was watch SIX animatics and slime tutorials on youtube.
